the new minecraft update and how you cried over it like you aren't a grown adult. ( 'it's embarrassing, crying over a mob in a video game that i've been plating since middle school. i am a grown adult, i should be crying over rent or taxes or something. 'i'd rather you not cry about anything, sweetheart').

how your roommate keeps leaving dishes in the sink and how it annoys you so much but you refuse to say anything about it. ('and i feel bad because we really get along and it's just this one thing that gets me but-' 'but nothin' sweetheart.' the you deserve to be taken care of, no chores, no worries goes unsaid)

how your manager makes you open and close the shop all alone even when he makes more than you. (that dick, john can make sure that you don't have to worry about mornings at least, he'll be there. you don’t have to worry about nights either, he'll get simon and johnny on it)

how your hourly wage just isn't cutting it anymore and you might have to find a second job to stay afloat. ('it's just a lot you know? i feel like i'm always fighting to keep my head above water.' 'you ever need help with anything you come to me, yeah sweetheart?' and you have no idea how much he means it.)

and eventually you have to seek him out. you got fired, your dick of a manager citing unprofessionalism and the company moving in another direction (it has nothing to do with the visit he got from that motherfucker in the cap with the union jack plastered on the front and some scot. but it really is his fault, john wouldn't have to do any of this if that snake would just treat you right). he doesn't even let you work your last day, just tells you to pack your locker and your check will be deposited next week.

john price is a good man and you know that because he gets you that second job. "bein' a barista is just like bein' a bartender. you'll be great sweetheart."

it's his bar you learn, just something small he and his colleagues bought after retiring from the SAS. you start working about four years, on the dot, after opening day- the man, kyle, says as he showed you around the building. he was your co-bartender, and johnny was some kind of chef for the minimal amount of food they served, and simon was security- whenever he was there anyway.

john mostly stayed in his office, save for the slower afternoon hours when he would join the four of you in your everlasting game of cards. (you've lost and you know it but they feel bad setting it into stone, so the game continues. kyle'll find a way to make johnny lose so you don't feel bad)

working at the bar was probably the best thing that happened to you in a long time. (best thing to happen to john too, but fucking your employee weeks after hiring them is bad business)

and to their credit, they keep you away from whatever side gig they have going on but you never feel out of place. (you don't question them when they randomly disappear in the middle of the week then come back at closing, brushing right past you into the back offices. you look past the blood, if there was an issue they would let you know).

that is until you get followed home by one of the regulars- it really was a one time thing, your car was in the shop and the walk isn't all that far in the daylight- and the only person you could think to call was your boss. john didn't leave the bar until the sun came out so you knew he wouldn't be asleep, and he told you to call him if you were ever in trouble and this was the closest you could get.

it took him less than five minutes to get to you and even less time to convince you that living so far was dangerous and that you could come stay with him until you found a nicer place. (you never question how he already had clothes in your size, or the exact hygiene products you had back in your old apartment.) but you let him guide you into his room, into his bed as he promises he'll make up the guest room another day. and you just let him hold you.

you don’t question how you never see the man again. you don't look twice as his name flashes across the tv screen and you don't think too far into his disappearance.

john price is not a good man, but you don't need to know that.

how long have you had your forever world for? also what would you recommend to keep motivating yourself to keep playing on it? i want to have a forever world and i'm hoping i can keep coming back to my current one :]

hey jordan, this is such a great question because i've definitely thought long and hard about this, too, when i first started my forever world.

i've had this save file for almost three months now (+ almost 500 days in-game) and i've been having a blast playing because i've always kept in mind that i was and always will be playing for myself. which is to say, in this sandbox game, i'm playing in a way that prioritises my fun over the idea of 'this is how minecraft is intended to be played.'

of course, what is fun is different from person to person. but these are a few things that i do to keep my save file fun for me:

playing with commands i love building, but i do not love terraforming and i definitely do not find satisfaction in big terraforming projects. so, when i'm building a huge cliff, a detailed body of water, or whatever else that i may find tedious, i will hop into creative mode! i don't have all the time in the world, so i just want to feel joy and feel relaxed when i'm playing on my forever world!

keep inventory + mobGriefing another thing that had always hindered my enjoyment of the game was losing my inventory upon death and having to rush back to get everything before they all despawned. it's just not fun for me personally, so i enabled keep inventory. and though i play mostly on peaceful, i still disabled mobGriefing in case i ever feel like running around on easy!

no set aesthetics i just build what i feel like building with whatever blocks i feel like using. no strict block palettes that i must use in every build, no clear style of building that i'm going for. it gives me so much space to build whatever is currently striking my interest! i have a bunch of videos of other people's world tours, tiny build ideas, etc. that i've been able to add to my save file rather seamlessly because i don't have a set 'aesthetic' that i'm going for :)

set achievable goals this is something that i picked up from youtubers who have worlds that have lasted thousands of in-game days. i'm currently building up lilyport village, but that goal alone is so daunting and vague. so, i break it down into buildings and tiny structures i would personally like to see in the village. a library, a cartography shop, a cascading waterfall, etc. plus, building the village up structure by structure allows me the satisfaction of checking things off as i go! i also have something in game to help me remember the different things i want to add into my world. i noticed you have a goal board in your forever world — me too! i like being able to visualise my goals in its entirety :)

back up your world! i've seen people talk about losing a longterm world (sometimes computers just crash, sometimes the game gets corrupted, etc) and then completely losing motivation to start all over. i keep this in mind every time i'm done with a gaming session and i back up my game on my desktop (after each session), my cloud drive (every few sessions), and an external drive (every few months)!

there are definitely other things that i'm forgetting, but these are the ones that i run into most frequently. i would also recommend checking out luvstar's video on this specific question, they've been my biggest inspiration in starting my forever world so i thought i'd include their video as well :)

obviously, these aforementioned points are what makes it fun for me.

so, if you prefer a little challenge or if building is not all that fun for you, there are other ways to play minecraft! it's a sandbox — tweak it to your liking!

About my AU/Comic

I have a JSAB AU in the works called Geometrika( @jsabgeometrika )! I’ve been the past 3 to 6 months working out all the lore and plots, so there is quite a bunch I have to yap abt it XD I’m hoping to translate the story into a comic, as I haven’t published anything anywhere yet. I draw in PowerPoint mainly and hope to get my comic published with PowerPoint art still >:3 I’m not particularly the best at art, so I can’t guarantee the most amazing visual quality, but I am doing my best so the outcome contains at least a good story ^^ There will be many OCs from my friends included, so expect credits with considerable size XDDDD My production process might be slow for reasons stated above, but I’ve been doing my best to ensure it’s still going for the very least! Oh boy it's that time of the whenever where I remind myself that everything looks like a Minecraft mod when it's first added. Minecraft is such a large game that basically everything has been done already and any "new idea" that pops up has been at least considered at some point.

Everything they showed off today looks pretty neat, tbh. No complaints. It's also the most unanimously positive response to an update I've seen an a while, which is interesting. These events are normally an infinite argument generator, but everything I've seen has been minor. I do have some more thoughts to share, which I'll put under the cut.

I'll start off with the Vibrant Visuals official shader. It looks GREAT. Genuinely the best the game has ever looked IMO. I don't actually like Minecraft with shaders all that much. It's hard to describe, I guess they try too hard? Why is the grass always shiny? I eventually found one I liked called MakeUp and got it to look pretty good:

The clouds are from a mod called Better Clouds. I don't actually like the vanilla clouds, and honestly like shader clouds less, but I'm quite fond of these.

Let's compare to Vibrant Visuals:

Yeah, no surprise I like this. It's very simple and doesn't do much, but what it does do it does well. I, uh, still don't like the clouds. Too flat, too square. You can get the look without needing to make them massive slabs.

I'd like to touch on two more things about VV before moving on. First, the water:

This looks nice! Most shaders just try and make the water realistic more than anything, which fails to account for the fact that in Minecraft you can just. Have water somewhere. In a vertical column. Which is near impossible to see with any kind of realistic shader. You have to have the water texture visible on it or else you are just walking near a cliff and are suddenly drowning with no warning. The underwater effects are interesting, I'm curious to see how this affects the visibility of blocks or if it does at all.

I also want to look at the shadows:

Very neat effect with these, no comments. Would be curious if we can turn these off for sharp shadows or how they interact with higher-res resource packs. I also wonder if we'll get official custom shader support. Would be neat.

I like the dried ghast. He looks silly. It's kinda odd that it's an inventory block; i feel like a bucket would be appropriate. Like powdered snow.

Dunking a dried ghast in water does a thing:

Ghastlings, the next phase of the Ghast, are so cute. I have no words. Can't wait for people to build balloon stores with a bunch of these guys on leads.

If you give one snowballs, it will grow up into a happy ghast:

Content beast. Is friend. You just know that thing has more helium in it than brain cells.

I do wonder how we get more of them. Can we breed them? With what? Will it spawn a new dried ghast or a ghastling? I guess we'll find out.

I've seen a lot of people complain about the unusually high-res texture. At first I thought the normal ghast was like this as well, until I actually checked:

Yeah, the new one has a few more pixels than the existing one. At least 2-3x more pixels on edge. I think the artists were trying to make it more consistent with block textures, but ghasts are comically large compared to anything else in the game. For reference, I went and found the VanillaTweaks pixel consistent ghast that actually does achieve this:

This makes me uncomfortable whenever I look at it. Very strange looking.

(To clarify: I don't hate it, but I do prefer the normal one.)

Onto the star feature, you can make a harness for the happy ghast and ride it:

This is a great feature! Finally, air travel that doesn't require going to the end or silly redstone engineering. There's four seats, one on each side. Super useful for building as well since you can just stand on it midair:

Super handy for obvious reasons. Basically just survival accessible creative flight. I am going to stop posting images now.

I hope we can add storage for these somehow. Imagine using one as a sort of mobile supply depot for construction or for hauling stuff long distances. I think I would have added creative flight-style mechanics by making it a beacon option, but this works too. Definitely going to try and get one.

I also hope we get something like the old ExtraUtilities angel block or Quark cloud in a bottle that lets us place blocks midair. It's a convenience thing, but it would be a very good one to have.

I hope Mojang takes this as an opportunity to update/tweak some of the other mount options the game has. I could make this its own post tbh, but horses/donkeys/llamas are too hard to breed good versions of, horses need an option for saddlebags and I wish I could give them frost walker, there are no good pack animals despite llamas and camels both existing, I could go on. I would also like a mount summon option of some sort, maybe with a goat horn? Could be interesting.

First Impressions

I first encountered Sans, not as a meme or anything, but in Minecraft animated music videos, the same as Papyrus. I have heard of Sans before that, obviously, but Down To The Bone, Way Deeper Down, and Judgement are the songs that actually introduced him as a character to me. Although now, to this day, I cannot watch the final minute of Judgement because its ending was way too sad for me to handle.

On first watch, Sans was... kinda creepy. He just came across as this guy who acted friendly but if it weren't for a certain promise that I didn't know about at the time, he would've killed you. He genuinely looked like he ACTUALLY wanted to kill you. And that freaked me out. That's probably the reason why I latched onto Papyrus first, actually. I thought Sans was kinda cool, but a little too creepy for my taste. Until I got to see the actual content from the game... And TV Tropes' Woobie page, actually. I think it was learning about Sans' predicament that kickstarted my intense hyperfixation on him. I've always loved characters who broke the fourth wall, and Sans fascinated me because I didn't really consider the consequences of knowing you're living in a video game world, and what impact that would have on your psyche. Now, my brain still has a grip on this pathetic little guy, and it won't let go, no matter what I try, so I guess he's here to stay!

My Impressions Now

Okay, I said I'd give my honest opinion, so here we go. (Sharp inhale)

Like GENUINELY. I actually find him cute!

Not in a romantic way, of course (aroace check!) but he's more like... a silly kitten you just watch and occasionally laugh at because his antics are just so goofy and hilarious.

I think I've just grown numb to his creepy moments, honestly. For example...

YOU THINK YOU CAN SCARE ME WITH THIS CRAP? YOU, A FOUR FOOT TALL LITTLE GOOBER IN A BLUE HOODIE, YOU THINK YOU CAN SCARE ME? I WILL SQUISH YOU SO HARD YOUR HEAD WILL POP OFF YOU LITTLE-

How can a guy be so silly and so tragic at the same time? How can he be so pathetic and yet so badass, like PICK A LANE, SANS!

This little guy will ask himself if spiders have legs and then beat your ass moments later.

And in the murder route...

Are you seriously saying I have to murder that little face? Uh, how about NO?! I already had a hard enough time mustering up the willpower to kill Papyrus, I'm SPENT!

I'm resetting, screw it.

Anyway, that's enough ranting. Now onto the calmer thoughts.

Sans shares the top spot with Papyrus as my favourite character. And I know that might sound basic at first, but actually... I don't think it's that basic anymore. I think the fandom has largely moved on from him now, save for the thousands of AUs revolving around him. Even then, I consider those AU variants separate fan characters more than anything else. Sure, Sans is still popular, but I'm glad that people are focusing more on the other characters now... So I can hyperfixate on him all I want tee hee hee hee!

My favourite part about Sans is that when it comes down to it, he's basically a kindhearted goofball with a dark side. And kindhearted goofballs are my favourite type of characters. I like to call them "friend-shaped". I love his inner conflicts and how subtle they are. I love how he cares for the people around him despite giving up on basically everything else. I love that he's basically a little dork hiding under a calm, cool charisma.

Ah, apologies. He's a little bonehead under his charisma. (But yes, I love that he is a self-proclaimed dork, he's owning it. Good for you, Sans!)

The thing about him that appeals to me the most is both his good heart and his mysterious nature. Because, like I said in the Papyrus one, it gives him more flexibility. More room for creativity and taking liberties when it comes to his backstory. He gave us some bits and pieces, but I like that it's up to us to fill in the gaps a bit.

To be honest, I hope his backstory never gets revealed, so that fans can keep coming up with various interpretations of his backstory for us to explore. To look at them and think, "Ah, yes, this makes sense!" or "Aww, poor baby!" or, "Oh, that's... wow." Things that really keep the fandom going, you know? I just feel like revealing everything in canon would take part of the fun out of him as a character. Besides, he's SUPPOSED to be mysterious! It's a huge aspect of Sans! Taking that away would just be... be... BLASPHEMY!

As for his dark side, well, I can't fault him for that. Little man probably has a lot of suppressed rage under that big grin of his, and I don't blame him for it. He is a very tragic character, but I'll get to that in a different section. The thing is, I actually have a hard time being mad at him, even when he actually does display his faults, which is fair, really. He's not the perfect model of a Tumblr Sexyman, but he was never intended to be. (Perhaps that's why he won a couple of years ago...)

I just really prefer focusing on his good side. He's a genuinely good person. Not perfect, but he's good.

Canon VS Fanon (and why I like both)

And it's not just his eye. But yes, I like both canon AND old-fanon Sans. (Apart from the sexual stuff, I find that a little icky for my taste, but I won't judge... unless it involves the more problematic ships [you know the ones].)

Canon Sans is a gem. He's mostly humerus (though he has his moments) and a fun character to have onscreen overall. When I play Undertale, and I see him standing around, waiting for me to interact with him, I smile. Because he's friendship material, but the "ooh, maybe you shouldn't underestimate him if you know what's good for you" kind. I mean, come on!

Imagine going on a long journey through Hotland, and then all of a sudden, you see a familiar friendly face selling hotdogs. And then he stacks them on your head if your inventory is full, because he's awesome like that! Little man pulls off harmless pranks (key word: HARMLESS, because obviously, Sans knows what a good prank is) like painting the telescope and loosening the ketchup lid. Sometimes I like to think messing with people is just his love language lol. Sans doesn't want a lot, he just wants to enjoy his life. He's a troll, but he's still a nice person overall. He's a bro.

But he has a backbone. He knows how to call it quits. The poor guy learned that from hard-borne experience (cough cough the machine in the workshop ahem). Funnily enough, he doesn't HIDE his emotions, but he definitely shows a lot of restraint. He knows when it's appropriate to express his anger. For example, in the Undyne ending where you kill Toriel, if Papyrus is alive, he'll show restraint. But if Papyrus is dead, Sans will make it clear to you how angry he is. And it's a cold kind of anger too. He doesn't hide it, but he's definitely restrained. He's really good at handling his emotions, actually. Has anyone noticed that? I think the only times he truly lost control of his emotions is during the Lost Soul segment (he was brainwashed) and his fit of rage during the end of his boss fight (and even then, it didn't last for more than a few seconds).

And he still has a tragic undertone to his character, but unlike fanon, Sans' grievances (and possible depression) are only really implied in the mercy route and outright stated in the murder route. And when he does reveal his awareness of the time loops, it's either in a more positive light (with the passwords - if your friend is an anomaly that can reset time, why not use that power to prank them?) or with a tired sorrow (think of the neutral judgement where he asks you if you think you should do the right thing with your power, and how he outright states his awareness during his boss fight - Sans is upset, but he's not bawling or anything, he's just sick and tired).

As for Fanon Sans, I'll be talking about the early fanon of around 2015-16-17. I like that as well because back then, it was people having fun with the character and pushing him to his limits. And yeah, it can be out of character sometimes, but when has any fandom ever kept their characters in character, especially where shipping is involved? I'll be focusing more on the "Woobie" fanon Sans because I don't want to touch the "Sexy" side of it. And besides, I actually do like the "Woobie" side.

In a lot of fanfictions I read where Sans was suffering from stuff like depression and PTSD, I've noticed that a lot of it was the writer venting their feelings through a character they really like. And I think that's great! Well, not the fact that they have mental health struggles, but writing to make a character more relatable to you is fine in my opinion. I've been guilty of that when it comes to my autism, so who am I to judge?

Sans' awareness of timelines and resets spawned a lot of what-ifs in the fandom. "What if Sans remembered resets?" "What if he got PTSD from those resets?" "What if he had nightmares?" "What if he tried taking matters into his own hands?" How many AUs spawned from this concept alone? AUs that thousands of fans still enjoy to this day. And don't get me started on Gaster! "What is Sans' relation to Gaster?" "Are they even related at all?" "Was he around when Gaster kicked the bucket?" That sort of thing. How many AUs involve Gaster being a significant part of Sans' life, for better or worse? Isn't it fun to explore? Fun to read? Fun to write?

It's cathartic to see an otherwise composed character break down in tears, isn't it? How many comics of Sans depict just that? Who knows? Maybe he actually does need that release. What would it take for Sans to actually cry? If he really does have depression, wouldn't it be nice to have him finally let out all his sadness and frustration? So he can get better? Can he get better?

Not to mention, Sans is one of the most mysterious characters in the game. It's only natural for a character as popular as him to be speculated about by the fanbase. And that's why I enjoy seeing fanon portrayals of him.

Still, I tend to keep Canon Sans and Fanon Sans separated. I don't let the fanon affect my view of the canon that much. Heck, I created a whole AU so I wouldn't let my story affect how I see canon. Because I love canon as it is, but I love exploring fanon too.

The Narrative

Story-wise, Sans is one of your most consistent allies because he made a promise to Toriel. And he judges you for your EXP and LOVE. He teaches you a lot of things, like how blue attacks work and how the aforementioned EXP and LOVE work. And that's good and dandy. Sans isn't exactly important in the main storyline, but he's got his own thing going on.

Now, meta wise? I'd say Sans is extremely important there. He is a very tragic character when you really get to know him. He deconstructs the "Meta Guy" character type in more ways than one. For example, if he knows how the mechanics of the game work, then why not use that to his advantage? The reason why his boss fight is so hard is because he exploits the game mechanics and uses it against you. You know the drill. Taking the first turn, placing bones in the menu, dodging, the works. Hey, if you could dodge, why can't he? He knows that he's weak without using cheats. So he cheats. His goal isn't to have a fair fight, his goal is literally stopping you from destroying the world. Sans is actually a really creative person, when you think about it. Who else uses bullets in the MENU? (Other than Asgore, maybe, but he just used his trident to destroy the MERCY button. Hey, why can't Sans just destroy the FIGHT button?!)

Another way his self-awareness is deconstructed is the impact the resets have on his psyche. Imagine knowing that your world operates like a video game and someone has the ability to reset time at their very whim. However, when that person resets, everyone else (apart from the ones who had that ability) forgets almost everything. All that's left is deja vu. I think Sans does have some semblance of deja vu too, but either his is weaker or he's just really good at hiding it. Still, though, in an otherwise chill life, that would be a huge weight to carry on your shoulders. Sans isn't the only one who knows about the resets. Flowey and Asgore (and possibly Alphys and Papyrus) know too. But Sans is the only one besides Flowey who explicitly states that, "yeah, i know what's going on here. i know you have this power. and i may or may not be dying inside because of it, can you stop?" Sans is just a guy who's trying his best in a video game world, but he's tired. And he won't stop being tired unless you give him what he wants. And that is a happy ending with friendship and laughter and good food. Because he's a simple skeleton at the end of the day. It doesn't take a lot to make him happy.

Conclusion

Sans is my absolute favourite character in the game besides Papyrus. I think he's an adorable character and I'm sick of pretending he's not. He's just really friend-shaped to me, I don't know how to explain it. I just wish he was real so I can hug him. Speaking of hugging...

I mainly read fiction, distopian, and horror/gore. But also, like when books have lgbt+ characters, and have read a few Manga! I just borrowed a book from a friend called "The Corpse Queen" by Heather M. Herrman, I strongly suggest it, I've also just started reading a GL Manga series called "Whisper Me a Love Song" and so far have been really enjoying it!!! I like plants in many ways, I learn about plants, I grow both indoor and outdoor plants, and I have a fascination with all living or once living things,,, and they happen to fit in that category too!!! I don't think I could pick just one flower as my favorite, but I do enjoy Asters a lot! Bleeding hearts? awe, it makes sense that a sweetie like you would love a poisonous flower!

I usually prefer games with long stories. I like RPGs and visual novels the most! I find pixel art really nice to look at, so a lot of my favorite games feature that. I’ve been playing through a farming sim called Fields of Mistria lately; it’s been really enjoyable so far! The best way I could describe it is as a mix of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. As for my current favorite games, they’re probably… Minecraft, Danganronpa, Persona 5 Royal, and Identity V. I’m not finished playing through P5R, but I like it so far. I’m currently replaying and trying to get all achievements in every Danganronpa game! I’ve finished Trigger Happy Havoc, and I’m now working on Goodbye Despair. Having a bit of trouble though, because I have a friend I’m sharing my Steam library with who is ALSO playing through the Danganronpa games. I can’t play the games until they get off, bleh. AH, I also started a playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2. I suck ass at it. I ended up punching my horse when trying to get on it. I also drew my gun on it multiple times. So sorry to my horse, it did not deserve that. It took me like 10 minutes and frantic googling to figure out how to get back on my horse after I accidentally got off (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

Ah, I just like history in general. I love to learn about things. Some things that caught my interest for awhile in the past though are torture/execution methods, the Chernobyl disaster, the Carrington event, WW2, old medical treatments, and Greek mythology. I haven’t been into history as much lately.. so I probably couldn’t explain anything here well.

I do collect stuff! I have a collection of various plushies, figurines, keychains, and knickknacks stored in my room. I think my favorite things that I own are probably my jar of uranium glass and this stunning piece of bismuth I got just a couple weeks ago. I’d like to start a full on collection of uranium glass, but that’s expensive, and I have no idea where I’d put it. Uranium glass is absolutely gorgeous, though! I hope to at least get a couple more pieces in the future.

Etho: I had a habit of literally curling myself around Skizz when I wanted to hug time. Like my wings and tail were fully wrapped around him. I also did this while sleeping apparently

Shadow Bonnie: the souls liked to play games in the secret backroom during the day! This lead to many silly moments :3

Sparrow: I actually didn't like water very much. Poor Spot and Racer had to force me to drink enough every day

What’s the best thing about being kin for you?

The people I've met along the way. And in my memories.

Sure, the bad memories hurt. They hurt a lot, but there's always the good ones to balance it out.

If I remember anything about the death games, I can just hold on to when I married Skizz, or hanging out with the Helsmits, or raising my kids.

If I can't get Henry's speech out of my head, I can instead think back to Mari needing to have his needles taken so he wouldn't stab Afton, or Springy getting crowned the 'King of Capitalist Checkers'

Or when I can't get Racer's cold body out of my vision, I think back to the secret kisses with him, or times in the lodging house when everybody was happy.

So I guess I can say the friends I've made, and the happy memories I would've otherwise never known about.

I will say there's a character from a cartoon I've seen bits and pieces of that feels like she should be a kintype, but she isn't. It's kinda funny actually

But sometimes people have suggestions or questions, and I feel that if I wrote something confusing, it's my job to explain what's going on (only for fanfiction though. Since I don't revise it before I post)

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmm.... Probably There Are Others, since I at least tried to give most of them happy endings. But this fic is the reason my friends keep a kill count.

Not really? It's more that people challenge my view and how I chose to write the story, but I've never gotten outright hate before.

All-time? Uhhhh, I've determined that gay ships are absolutely my favorite thing ever. So my favorite is probably one of those. But it changes depending on fandom fixations honestly. Buuuuut, outside of fandom logistics, I'd still say Jeremike. Even though it's a silly one. I just love how people write that ship.

15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have a giant incomplete folder of fnaf fics that I've started writing, but they haven't seen the light of day. Which means I've forgotten a bunch of stuff within that. But truth be told, I do want to continue writing Becoming a Family, even though I don't think I'll ever touch it again. My flow just never seems to be in the right place when I try to work on it.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm good at silly banter and dialogue in general.

I'm pretty good at adapting to sudden challenges in my writing (aka, plotholes that I've already posted) to still justify things happening as well. But not nearly as good as I am at dialogue.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm terrible at writing descriptions. I'll never forget the day I realized my friends genuinely thought my OC Mikayla was tall, despite how much I tried to write her as short. I usually don't write with physical characteristics in mind, so that used to be my justification, but since i had a clear picture in mind and it did not come across properly, I have to say descriptions are my weakness.

I'd also say romance, but my friends tell me I'm better than I think I am.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I stress out about that sort of thing. I wrote in Spanish for an art trade once (dialogue only, of course), and I made my friends fact-check every sentence to ensure it sounded natural. I could do it, but it's not really something I enjoy.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

MCYT. It was a different group of people back then, but that notebook is still sitting in my house, and I still get embarassed just thinking about it.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

My favorite? Honestly, it's one I'm writing right now. It's a fnaf fic, but I haven't posted much about it yet. It's called Runaway Mike, and I'm super excited about how it's turning out so far. Probably not one I'll post for a while yet.

hiiiii yes ok i am a lifesteal fan who Specializes in zam and s4 and vitalazam. NOTE FOR LIFESTEAL FANS: this is gonna be super simplified and condensed sometimes to the point of mild inaccuracy, please don't come at me, i just want this to be reasonably short. NOTE FOR REALM FANS: please spread this i love talking about zam and she doesn't always like talking about lifesteal s4 but it's such important context for literally everything she does. imo.

so! when talking to badboyhalo, zam mentioned that she Doesn't Do Betrayals. this is.... largely because of how s4 of lifesteal went. during s4, zam betrayed or otherwise let down almost every other person on the server at some point (including pangi, but that's a story for another time). the betrayal with the most fallout was vitalasy/eclipse federation. after weeks of trying to compromise (zam was morally opposed to exploits and exploiting whereas vitalasy had a huge season-spanning plan involving exploits), zam discovered that vitalasy was hiding the extent of the exploits and ended up killing and betraying vitalasy. vitalasy....went back and forth quite a bit on how he responded to this. there were a lot of very long very intense arguments ingame. due to vitalasy's exploits, he could do creative-mode flying, and he could kill people with a punch rather than needing a weapon; he sometimes utilized this, both against zam and to spawnkill one of zam's new teammates. ultimately, though, vitalasy didn't want to hurt people and felt incredibly guilty and unhappy about people finding him scary or dangerous; he wasn't able to take zam's anger and fear and the anger and fear of the rest of the server, and he got IRL upset, started crying, killed himself in-game until he was banned off lifesteal, and took a break from minecraft altogether. (they're fine IRL and have been this whole time, and they had a beautiful in-game reconciliation last december where they talked about it, but s4 was. painful for a lot of people at the time.)

it is kind of fun to get to know eachother, i enjoy it! i think relatability makes life worth living. ive thought about this alot but even in apocalyptic scenarios i feel it is significantly more tolerable if you have someone to be with during it, that can understand you. it is part of why i got into judemek so heavily. they seem like the kind of story of two kids in the apocalypse that, when everything goes to shit, its ok because they still have eachother to get through it. its a fantasy i often indulge in.

i should get death stranding too now that you mention it! ill look into it. i have alot of games i got like um... little nightmares 1 & 2, the evil within, bloodborne, shadow of the colossus, ace combat 7, yakuza 0, minecraft, it takes two, rocket league, skyrim, madden nfl, subnautica. (some of these i got for my dad)

i like your mention of the honesty thing because it is something i heavily valued for most of my life. i feel maybe my autism influenced it? but i always felt like since i struggle so much to navigate social situations and understanding how to act, that i relied solely on being as honest as possible. its like the only way i really know how to socialize i guess. (that and it physically feels so uncomfortable to lie i try to avoid it as much as possible) that being said i think its good to know when to not give out information, being too honest can put you in unsafe situations. something i had to learn...

Woke up from a very very strange dream so I really want to share it.

It started odd. Well not entirely odd. But it started on his different map of SDV I often see, and I was a woman, and went to these new secret mines where I had just lost and been kicked out. I went back in bc i did catch a glimpse of a merchant, so I went to check him out. He looked like a glowing eye darkness robbed little guy. And he sold, phone cases? And some pillars or something?? And I didn't know what they did so I looked up on YouTube and all I'd find was Minecraft videos (one I'd seen in a different dream, no less) so after a lot of trying went back to the game and bought them and it instantly turned psychosexual. I cannot remember details for better or for worse.

But after that somehow I ended up in my mother's house. It was just her and me, and soon my older brother. Neither my little brother or my step father were there. But there was a fishtank. Just like my step father previously had. Except it was lodged to the wall of the kitchen on the last house I lived in with them. It was also like, insanely dirty? It was implied nobody had been around for a while.

At first the fish I noticed were normal. Long little grey one stood up bc it was the last fish I got to see there, though that guy was smaller than a finger now he was worth give or take two! And there were other fishes too. But most important I saw a golden fish, just like my stepfather had owned for so long (I saw that fish eat everyone else and Die.). Except it was smaller, younger! His gold fish was he size of a hand by the end and fat, now it was as big as the previously mentioned. But just as violent. He kept trying to bite the fishes, which lead to his end.

Eventually I realized a fucking OCTOPUS was in the tank too, and he grabbed the golden fish (wasn't his name Golden? Or was it just Dorado? I don't remember) and like a gator did a death roll. It kept passing it under itself and stuff, too. I freaked out a little bc man he's gonna kill him!! But I was like nooobody touch him or you'll DIE.

It was then that I realized my mom had a prosthetic arm. From below the elbow on her left hand. It wasn't a normal one, it had skin grafts, tightly pulled across it, failing to conceal the plastic blue metal or the metal fingers like hooks. I asked her what happened and she told me nonchalantly she just tripped in a hole/puddle (I imagined this was in a supermarket, Carrefour or Coto) and passed out and when she woke up her hand was already amputated. Told her it was a relief it wasn't her dominant hand but she just said it isn't for NOW.

I pictured to myself a bit of her reaction. Waking up w a hand missing. Screaming and depression. She was ok by now. She did tell me it was bc she'd been carrying heavy books all day so the bone was cartilage by then and they removed it all (sure...)

I did realize a while after I woke up, my mother had a scarred hand she called "the bionic hand". I didn't remember this detail previous to this dream...

Anyway I think my brother was thru this all with us. I think we spoke. We caught up a little? I don't know why I cannot remember him now. What I do remember is talking w someone mentioning my grandma passing and them saying my brother should know too bc he probably cared and I was like damn maybe you're right. But I got distracted.

I was back in my villa crespo room, I have been remembering that room and that wardrobe a lot, and now I was looking inside. And it was huge, and I saw a dog plushie. It was implied to have been made by my grandma. I picked it up and hugged it and I took it as a sign to go in here and see what else was there for me. The dog was white, long ears, big ash brown spots and small black ones (most notably its eyes).

The wardrobe was full of toys and houses. And I was stuffing little things into bigger things. I wish I'd give you a better description. Little Barbies. I had a lot of knock off Barbies. I stacked them and stuck them elsewhere in piles. Unsure of the purpose.

But I couldn't really relax bc meanwhile my mom and my dad started talking and she was accusing him of having touched me inappropriately and his defense was like yeah I did but it was for a reason I was trying to protect her and I was just doing my darnest to pretend they didn't exist until I got awoken by a stupid can breaking in.

So yeah a lot went there.

looking through wayne's catalogue i'm running into the problem that most of my favorites (like the among us, jackbox, & 420 streams) are best enjoyed when you're already pretty familiar with the crew, so maybe save those for later if you end up enjoying rtvs' stuff. all of the proximity chat among us videos are fantastic (and i like watching the same one from multiple peoples perspectives, holly's in particular are great). RTVS congress, a stream by baaulp, is also great and worth watching once familiar with the crew

i think my best wayne (well, on wayne's channel, all of these feature multiple members of the crew) recommendation though is gonna be I.M. MEEN, which is a completely normal playthrough of a regular copy of 90's kids' edutainment game i.m. meen, which has nothing wrong with it. for some of the other "rtvs brand of weirdness" sort of streams, check out waynekenstein's lab (fun with ai generated faces) and chex quest hd (just.. watch this one)

wayne does a lot of "grand tour" streams (technically the im meen one is one of these but), where he goes through older/weirder/obscurer games. fin fin on teo the magic planet is a FANTASTIC one (fin fin needs no introduction, but in case he does, odd 90's virtual pet with a great theme song), plus the echs bachs catalogue (a bizarre collection of pretty awful games made by one dude called Echs Bachs), and club penguin rewritten (it's club penguin, bro).

if you like seeing a game played over many hours and multiple streams, i'd check out chulip, lisa: the painful, minecraft 24 hour charity stream, and moon rpg: remix. lisa and moon remain unfortunately unfinished, but the streams are still absolutely worth checking out.

most of my favorite holly vods are biiiig long streams of a playthrough of a whole game. her stuff tends to be pretty chill and i find them nice and relaxing. sometimes there's friends joining her, sometimes it's just her. of these, i really like bugsnax (adore these ones. idk how to succinctly explain bugsnaz. is bugs, is snax, are you a jokester?), hypnospace outlaw (PLEASE watch these ones especially if you havent played/watched hypnospace before), and moonglow bay (really sweet fishing game).

holly also does a number of wikipedia streams, where she (and friends) read and discuss wikipedia articles about food for upwards of 6 hours a piece. it's really good. it's really good. i like the soup one.

another favorite holly stream is GO-FISH DELUXE FOR SUPER PLAYERS, where holly and a friend play a custom game of go fish for 7 and a half hours. i love this one.

and i would be remiss to leave out, of course, the pigmas in july peppa pig stream. which is where holly, joined by her sister if i remember correctly it's been a minute since i watched, plays the peppa pig video game for nintendo switch. this one is very worth watching to the very end.

my #1 recommendation from scorpy's catalogue is going to be every single one of the VHS VIEWINGZ streams. scorpy obtains and plays a bunch of vhs tapes on stream with friends, it's always always always a good time. my favorite of all of them is probably this one, which among other things, includes a tape about learning to be a clown. make sure to watch to the end for a t-bone tickler! this one, featuring Escalator Safety and VOLTON THE ELECTRITY DEMON is also great. i'm having a hard time choosing just a few, they're all really good, so i'm just gonna link the eye palming one and be done with it.

for gameplay with scorpy, i really like a way out with wayne (unintentionally hilarious 2 player narrative game about escaping from jail), any of the david cage game vods but here's detroit become human, and not for broadcast (a FMV game about running a tv station- censoring stuff, monitoring broadcasts, that sort of thing. has a very interesting narrative)

and a couple other things

ok so these aren't like, the typical stream vods, while they are technically livestreamed stuff they're not quite in the same category. but they're all really fucking good.

of course, half life VR but the ai is self aware. there's full stream vods available for these, but if you haven't watched before i highly recommend watching the edited versions on wayne's main channel linked above. in case you haven't heard of hlvrai before, basic concept is that it's an in-character playthrough (wayne roleplaying as gordon freeman) of half life 1 in VR with a cast of self-aware ai NPCs (played by other members of the rtvs crew) accompanying him through the game. no prior knowledge of half life necessary. just fantastic.

next up, GAMECLAM. a yearly e3-style gaming conference about the best video games console that doesn't exist. here's the first one, there's currently 3 in total. there's also a commentary video on scorpy's vod channel. PLEASE experience the gameclam. PLEASE experience the gameclam

lastly, half life: alyx but the gnome is TOO AWARE. wayne does a gnome run challenge of HL:A with a mod that gives the gnome a biiiit more personality. (due to some references, best watched after hlvrai, but they're not part of the same series/continuity). not all the way finished at the moment- the finale's been streamed (and you can find a 3rd party upload of the finale stream on youtube (thank you youtube user sawsily for everything you do)) but the edited version of the finale should be coming out pretty soon.

i'm slowly circling around hermitcraft (i keep telling myself i'm not going to get into another minecraft smp thing, i did my days in the yogscast mines) and it's so compelling. i won't lie. what would you, personally, suggest as a starting point for someone who hasn't watched any of these people before? even without knowing these characters, your hermitcraft fic is so good that i want to learn more about them

yeah see, i told myself that too and then dsmp and 3rd life and hermitcraft happened and. here i am. back in the pits again!! having the time of my life about it ngl.

so, okay, my first caveat would be: fandom does a lot of heavy lifting re: it having a plot. like... i'd say they're less plotty than the yogs were, with season 8 being an honourable exception. so don't go in expecting that my fic has uhhhhh. really any relation to canon lmao. (though to be fair, it didn't really in yogs either, so...)

first option: watch an episode of Hermitcraft Recap (a channel that does a weekly "what happened on hermitcraft this week" highlights video), see if any of the things mentioned take your fancy, and then check out the channel of the hermit that did it. this is good if you're hunting for someone doing a specific Thing in minecraft, rather than streamer personality.

second option: see the rec list below, and check out one of those people's season 8. season 8 is now over, but it was very short compared to regular seasons - so a lot of the excitement gets compressed and amped up, and it's a good way to really get an idea of what people are about. it will give you an unrealistic idea of how plotty hermitcraft gets, especially the end, because they went absolutely off the shits with that one, but it's a great season.

third option: see the rec list below, and jump straight into season 9 - either at the beginning of someone's series, or at the current point, or skip around through various people's things. we're like 20-ish eps in, depending on the person, but honestly it's pretty easy to dip in and out; we just had a big Plot Development with rendog getting crowned king of the server, so it's a good time to start! rec list (biased to the people i watch, obvs! the others are great too, but these are my faves), to help you decide who to pick:

fourth option: some of what you've seen from me will be from 3rd / last / double life, a bunch of semi-hardcore "death games" series run by grian and involving a bunch of hermits (plus some other friends, including inthelittlewood from the yogscast!). these are great, and i watched these before hermitcraft, and then based who i was watching in hc on what i'd seen there. double life is happening rn and we're only 3 eps in, so it'd be easy to catch up! it's basically a soulmate au but in minecraft, because grian is insane; i'm really enjoying BdoubleO100, PearlescentMoon, Tango, Rendog, and Grian (Scar is on a weird zookeeping arc, godbless, so he's in my bad books until he starts killing again. otherwise, the go-to rec is Grian or Scar's pov of 3rd Life, which sent me fucking insane.

I've never watched Death Note, but I guess Ill just say L is my favorite since we share a name (technically) Honestly? my answer is simple w/ what animal Id be Almost ANY cat (not the flatfaced or folded ear ones though they can have some bad health issues :( ) Like if you're a domestic cat, you have the stuff to survive both in the wild, or in someone's house. You have super scenes of smell, night vision, claws, sharp teeth, AND probably enough smarts to not get eaten by dogs or smth. On the other hand with humans, at least 70% of the population would adore you, and maybe even take you in to pamper you. It would be very easy to get them to do your bidding since you'd be just some animal, and perhaps put above your caretaker's needs. Pets? Affection? Just act all adorable and stuff and they'll give it to you, cling on to them and they'll say they're your human now. On the other hand (or paw) there's the wild cats!! Still very cute. Still very cool. Now your defenses are upped by a ton, and people still find you cute. Though with how shitty environmental conditions are, and with the bigger cats slowly going to extinction :( , I may or may not just stick to domestic cats But hypothetically.. It would be neat to be either a snow leopard, tiger, or a jaguar. I love snow leopards for their big fluffy tails, and it would be cool to be able to roam through snow and stuff, but that seems to get a little boring from time to time. Love tigers for their stripes, I don't think they can roar..?? But that doesn't change anything. Think Tigers and Jaguars are both pretty efficient in survival, but I'd pick Jaguar just for their athletics and HUGE bite force (least from my 1st search). Or maybe, maybe not because there's an outfit/skin or two of Valeria's that are based on jaguars.. A few questions to ask yourself before you start a new world: Why do you want to make this world? What are you hoping to accomplish? Are there any challenges you want to take on (hardcore, progress in 100 days, all the achievements, etc.,)?

Then decide if you want to do a random seed or search for a seed. I've done both in the past and I'll be honest, when I search for a seed that has a spawn/biomes nearby that I really like, I feel way way way more passionate about my projects directly from the get-go. I don't mind a grind at all for resources or traveling for other blocks, but having a cool area nearby spawn to build in just really has made me happy!

Some good resources: Minecraft Seeds Subreddit, Seed Map Website (where you can generate random seeds quickly!), Minecraft & Chill on YouTube - lots of really incredible seed videos if you're a really visual person (and all of the seeds are in the description so you can copy and paste!)

I feel like I also really struggled with this when I first started getting into survival gameplay so here are some things that I did at the beginning that really helped me out: 1) Taking inspiration from other Let's Plays : Now I don't mean copying the build style or anything, but actually seeing how they progressed and what they prioritized, because I'll be honest, before I started making Minecraft content I'd only ever defeated the Ender Dragon once and I was carried by my boyfriend, lol. Before that, all I really did was try and build cool houses (most notably for some reason lots of sand castles or underwater glass bases). But building up farms, learning how to do trading with villagers, trying out different building styles and covering up my farms with builds all really inspired me and kept me focused!

2) Keep a 'to-do' list : This one can be really personal and you can do it in game (in a book, signs on a project board, etc.,) or you can keep one out of the game in google docs, notion, on paper, however you really want to do it! This can help you keep track of everything you want to do: goals, farms, builds, and give you a sense of satisfaction towards 'checking things off your to-do list'!

3) Try and work on one thing at a time : In the early game, don't overstress by looking at the entire to do list after you make it. Focus on one thing at a time, even if it means you'll be moving a cow farm or something later, get yourself set up with the resources you need and focus on them one at a time. Usually some early game projects for me are: getting a bed!, water bucket/shield, all wood types, diamond gear, renewable food source, finding a village, getting a house set up, making a farm, enchanting, etc., and those can be your projects if you like them to be as well, but work on them one at a time! Unless you're doing a 100 days challenge for yourself you're in absolutely no rush to get anything done that you don't want to do!

4) Later, when you get stuck : Work on something else or play something else for a while. This will help you *so much* in the long run as you won't be burning out on projects that are giving you problems or taking longer than anticipated to complete. I play Minecraft for content and for fun, but I also always make sure when I'm not recording or with friends I play some other games too to keep Minecraft not getting stale for me. And if and when I get stuck, I will simply move on to another project and leave a project partially finished. I've done this on my hardcore streams on Twitch, I'm rebuilding a village for my villagers and I'm a slow builder while I'm chatting up with everyone. In between houses, I work on building up farms for resources, go on silly adventures to find allays or all of the cat varieties, or simply shift my focus to another project in the village like pathways, streetlights, ponds, gardens, etc., to keep myself from burning out on building.

I know those last two points are a bit contradictory but I guess it sort of feels to me like writing, painting, or anything else. Don't force yourself if you're feeling burnt out. Minecraft for most of us is a way to have fun, so remember to keep it fun for yourself and not like work.

Remember it's a sandbox game-you can add mods, texture packs, play on any difficulty (including peaceful), and just really experience the game how you want to. Once I started to worry about what I enjoyed more in my world, and how I wanted to play, what I wanted to do, etc., I felt so much more inspired to start and stick with a world!
