sorry if im giving u unsolicited advice here but JFLDSJFKDS a while ago I had the "my traditional art is like 1000 percent better than my digital art" moment and what helped me get through it (outside of yknow, keep making art, fuck it we ball style) was making big lines for everything.

OK ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE BUT!! for me at least, when you draw traditionally you have a BIG ammount of control on everything thats line weight and detail, digital can mimick that but its tricky, SUPER TRICKY. So i said "Fuck it" and i decided to lose that control for digital. If all lines are big and i cant control the opacity i'll just use the big lines and weird pen pressure thing. Then i played around more with the settings and stuff, i still dont like the line weight thing on digital so i have it at minimum but i use it.

SO THIS IS PROBABLY NOT YOUR ISSUE AND IM SORRY IM RAMBLING HERE, but if giving a kick at "the fuck it we ball "+ "lose the control of that brush" might help, give it a kick :D

anon I just wanna thank you for this ask cause it very much helped me realize that I rlly just gotta draw for myself. and I know that’s a bit different than what ur saying!! (I do understand COMPLETELY what you mean tho that rlly is my main beef with digital art, never can control it as much as I want to) but also like!! I have the unfortunate habit of feeling some sort of obligation to draw for others and then it spirals into me overly criticizing myself and my art to the point where I think I just. physically cannot make myself draw.

usually I’ve been better about catching it before I fall into the cycle again but man I think it just hit particularly harder this time around. It also gets very difficult when I’m drawing for other people, because I want to make it super good for them but in the process I accidentally become way to over critical of my art. even tho I know the person will enjoy it, I stress about it so badly. so when any art I make is seen as something I owe others, I get overly stressed and disgruntled by it. which is um not good!!!

so I’m taking your advice and am simply making bad art for myself for a bit that I will never post :-) which for the last few days has been very nice!

TECHNO BUILD PART . SOMETHING. WAS I EVEN NUMBERING THESE? ANYWAY WE’RE STARTING ON THE HEAD

You’ve seen the profile picture already, so I guess I’ll show you how we got there. so here’s the head base!!

i started with a pretty standard bucket head base based on Skye High Studios’ tutorial. I use a thicker foam but that’s literally only because I don’t actually have any 1/2” foam on hand. Because of that I added like 2 inches to the length she suggests to make it fit well (as i learned from my last head, which is just slightly too tight ;; )

at this phase i like to sketch out the silhouette of what i want it to look like over the blank base. i also install mesh panels to allow for just a touch more ventilation if needed later down the line!

then comes the building up the shape i’m going for, and carving it down! there are patterns you can find out there for specific species, but honestly i just like eyeballing it to make “pattern pieces” and then tracing that twice for symmetry.

i use an electric kitchen knife for carving foam which is, honestly, endlessly amusing to me.

at this point i’ll put it on to make sure it fits well and check the movement when it’s actually worn, just to make sure it’s looking how i want!

then comes carving out the eye holes—at this point i wasn’t sure exactly what i wanted from them, i was between using the actual eye holes as eyes and doing separate eyes further back and painting mesh to match the fur for the actual eyes. more on this later.

after the eyes are cut out, i cover half of the head with duct tape inside and out, which will be the base for all of my patterns later.

once it’s covered, i’ll draw in where exactly I want my seams to go. first off is figuring out markings—techno doesn’t have any markings in the fur but I did know I wanted a different material for the inside of the ears and the end of the snout. then it’s a matter of figuring out where it’s gonna be flattest if you cut it apart, and not immediately obvious where your seams are. fur *is* very forgiving on this front, because the pile will hide the seams if they’re not too bulky.

i also like to add hash marks on all of the lines to have a point of reference for where things line up. taking pictures at this stage is SUPER important to have a guide to reference back to later during assembly!

i cut apart the duct tape directly off of the foam base, and place it as flat as possible on newsprint. When necessary, I cut darts into the piece to make it lay flat, which will be sewn up first during assembly. I then cut those pattern pieces out again and trace them directly on the back of my fur. i use a black or silver sharpie for this—anything else has the potential to bleed when the suit is washed!!

Yep. In fact, I'll write a whole mini essay for you so I can add it to the FAQ section of my website coming up shortly LMAO (SINCE I NEED TO FULLY ANSWER THIS QUESTION FOR THERE ANYWAY, RIGHT???) CLICK UNDER THE READ MORE TO SEE IT BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE THE LONGEST THING I'VE EVER POSTED HERE, LMAO.

To preface, I have been a fan of the M&L games going back to the early-mid 2000s when I was a kid. I had no involvement with fandom or anything of the sort back then but I used to hop on my mom's bulky computer and look up fanart and other related content as early as 2004/5 and as a result, ended up captivated by the characters long before I knew who they actually were. (As a result of this, I have the names and art styles of various old M&L fandom creators permanently ingrained in my head and often wonder where they are today since a good deal of them vanished..!) It wasn't until 2006 that I got my first handheld console (DS Lite) and of course, what did I do? Immediately begged my mom to order me a used GBA copy of Superstar Saga. 

When I finally had the game in my hands it was like coming home to a colorful world that I'd been captivated by for so long but never gotten the chance to actually explore until now. The characters felt like old friends and the Beanbean Kingdom as a location felt familiar and comforting to me. (As a side note, Popple quickly became my favorite. Shocker, right?)

I used to sketch various beans in my notebooks as well as on printer paper we had lying around the house. Long story short, I finished Superstar Saga and then a few years later in 2010 I picked up Bowser’s Inside Story and THAT’S WHEN THINGS SHIFTED–

BIS brought Fawful and his personality to life in a way that captivated my imagination like nothing else had prior. He quickly overtook Popple as my favorite character from then on forward… and that’s where it ends! Or.. is it?

Nah, that’s where it gets funky. Life got a little chaotic after that and not only did I stop playing video games altogether for many years, but I also almost completely gave up on art - the one thing I was most passionate about above all and thought I would make a career out of someday. A series of depressing events caused me to lose all hope and motivation for anything I created and the spark I’d kept inside of me for so long all but died out as a result.

We’re going to timeskip again, this time to late 2019. I’d just moved away from home permanently for the first time and had been getting settled in and no matter what I did to make my new apartment a cozy place it always felt like something was missing. My mind would keep wandering to the fact that I never made art anymore despite it having been such a key part of my life when I was younger. I so desperately wanted to change this and over the next few months the frustration only kept growing until on January 1st, 2020, I sat down in the living room with a pencil and paper in my hand and shut my eyes tightly before saying under my breath:

“I do not care what it is, I don’t care how it comes. Just please… PLEASE send me something to bring my art back. Anything… anything at all. I don’t care what I draw, I just want to be drawing again.” And with that, I placed the lead onto the paper and began to sketch…

And from there… a familiar face appeared!

(Now I could ramble to you about how much I do NOT like this drawing and how off model it is from how Fawful actually looks… but I’ll forgive myself since I hadn’t touched the M&L games in over a decade at this point and had forgotten most of Fawful’s character. And yet?? Here he was.)

How else can I explain it except that in that moment it felt like the pencil in my hand had suddenly become one of these:

A joy that I hadn’t felt in SO long suddenly filled my entire being and without wasting another second, I immediately went online and ordered both Superstar Saga and Bowser’s Inside Story to replay again. In the time waiting for the games to arrive I had started drawing daily again - sketching out various old characters of mine with dozens of doodles of the bean man stacked in between them all.

There he was… always smiling, always happy to see me, and oftentimes with his arms outstretched as if to give an encouraging hug. When the games arrived I worked through them quicker than I ever had prior - finishing up Superstar Saga in less than a week and subsequently moving onto Bowser’s Inside Story with a LOT of excitement built up for it. 

It was my first day playing and I was having the time of my life! The way Fawful looked in his little grey cloak with that enormous, charming grin of his as he bamboozled Bowser into eating the Vaccuum Shroom had me giggling with joy while words repeated in my brain over and over of: “I need to draw this later, I NEED to draw this later!!!” I WAS EXCITED ABOUT ART AGAIN… AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I was practically hopping in my seat from the happiness I felt in my heart and chest every time Fawful appeared at this point!

This was how it felt until the moment I arrived at the Fawful Theatre and watched as he began dancing on the stage floor. THIS time.. something different came over me. If you’ve felt it before, then you’ll know what I mean when I say that it was like my entire body turned warm all at once, like some sort of flame had been lit inside. I’d never felt it for anything or anyone prior to then, and that's partly why it hit me as hard as it did. I was practically sweating.

Heck, I was so absorbed in my feelings that I had forgotten there was anyone else in the room with me! That is.. Until my roommate at the time spoke up: 

Her: Are you alright? Me: Uhhh… yeah, why? Her: You’re red as a beet. Are you sure you’re okay?

By this time I had realized what was really going on so I reassured her I was fine, grabbed my 3DS, and ran to my room to finish the playthrough on my own so I wouldn’t embarrass myself any further, hahaha.

In the days, weeks, and months following that moment I became dedicated to drawing the best art of Fawful I could possibly create! What started as a challenge to myself to ‘give back’ to the person who’d given me back the ability to create again turned into someone I genuinely could not stop drawing for how much fun I was having doing it. The desire to make better and better art in order to honor him drove me to improve at a speed I never had prior, and soon thereafter I created Jolligig as a way for me to be in this colorful world with him and to express the deepening affection I was feeling for him with every day that passed by.

By some miracle, my prayer had been answered and here it was in the form of a grinning lima bean.

@dandenbo asked me for the art asks: 🎠What is a typical 'workflow' for a piece from idea to finished? It turns out to be a long answer so here's its own post, under the cut to save your dash! How I go from screenshot to painting: (This is not intended to be a 'this is how you do it!' kind of guide. I absolutely don't do an optimal route, this is just how I go about painting and what works for me! I've done a workflow for a screenshot to painting as I do a few different things but this is one I could explain somewhat coherently. My comics tend to be created pretty chaotically lol)

1) I take an ungodly amount of screenshots while playing. Also pester friends for their screenshots or stalk the group discord for interesting shots.

2) Go through all those screenshots cursing why I took so many, looking for those great moments that I want to paint. I’m particularly looking for nice poses/captivating moments, dynamic lighting or interesting expressions, and they don’t need to have all 3 as we can fix some of that in the next step. Here’s the screenshot I chose for my Keahi x Thane piece:

It was a cute, soft moment between them and I liked the highlight at the edge of their profiles. 3) Refine the screenshot. I don’t use anything fancy for this. I game on windows PC, so I open up the screenshot with windows photo editor. I crop the image, play around with saturation, exposure, contrast, just basic editing until it looks tastier. For this piece I wanted it to be hyper colourful and vibrant, leaning towards warmer tones.

4) Decide what I will change, then gather references for those changes. In this case I was fortunate that not a lot needed changing. I knew I wanted to move Thane’s eye position to looking at Keahi rather than the way he is slightly off focus, do a more realistic ear with earrings for Keahi, make Thane a little more smiley and lower his eyelid and give Keahi nicer eyelashes. I keep a whole bunch of art guides and tutorials on my PC so I grabbed the necessary ones and sent them to my ipad ready to have on hand for the sketch stage. I have Thane’s character model in XNApose, so I can check things like his eyelid specifically in that (this is actually for a different project but shows you what I mean)

If I was going to change up the lighting/shading I would also gather references for that. For example sometimes i’ll take screenshots of lighting schemes I love from films/tv shows (think the strong teal and orange scheme in Mad Max or the neons of Blade Runner). Or for precise shadows, I can again use XNApose. I also have a little 3d printed Thane head I can shine a torch at and take photos of to get shadow ideas. For humans there’s lots of reference to be found with online searches, I find pinterest more useful than google for this. For specific expressions or body parts, i’ll just take photos of myself (hand poses, smiling from the right angle etc.) My camera roll is an interesting place. I have drawn drell frills on my neck and on my chest before to see how the lines would fold at certain angles. 5) Setting up a canvas I work in procreate. For a piece like this I try to go pretty big, say 5000 x 4000 pixels, then i’ll crop down later as needed. 300 DPI. As I work, I’ll make duplicates and continue on the copy each fresh session. When i’m finished I make a backup save of the PNG and .procreate files on an SSD. I immediately turn the background colour down to a more muted colour to not burn my retinas. If i’m using a textured background like an oil board i’ll insert it, and any overlays like canvas effects. Set up my layers from the start basically for easy toggling throughout. I try to be good and label things to make life easier, it doesn’t always happen though. I don't wear a digital glove or use paper effect screens but I do have a bottle of screen cleaner and a microfibre cloth handy at all times. 6) Sketch. I’m still very much learning to draw. I tried for a long time to do the classic ‘ball for a head, draw the planes/lines etc. It was a constant struggle and never clicked for me, the ball especially always made things much worse, turning a circle into a 3d image in my head just does not happen. I find it better to just start drawing and work things out as I go (I use procreates reference window to see my screenshot). So I’ll have my sketch in one canvas, and i’ll also have a second canvas with the photo ref on it at the same size, and if I feel like something is really wonky and off i’ll test my lines over the photo to see what’s gone wrong, then go back to the sketch and correct the areas that revealed. Sometimes I’ll use the grid feature if i’m getting stuck.  Here's a few of the sketch stages:

Here I tried out the lines on the photo and noticed that Thane’s frills were a little too far to the left, and Keahi’s eyebrow needed to arch down towards the nose.In the next pass I correct these:

Also, and I know i’m gonna get side eye from some people for this but I really could not care less to be honest. On some pieces i’ll just trace the screenshot. Sometime I just want to get to painting, am not in the mood or mindspace for a learning experience, and this is a hobby. It’s my screenshot, no one is getting ripped off. My latest Javik piece was done this way 🤷‍♂️ 6) Painting. I’ll start by blocking in the background and the portrait flats, usually on separate layers. I try to have an idea of the background colour from the start as this can effect the whole piece overall, but sometimes you just gotta change it as you go so having it on a different layer makes this much easier.

The painting itself I’ll lay down wider areas of colours, then start going in and refining bit by bit, I tend to work on one area at a time, and sometimes I’ll get pretty well rendered on a small area before moving on, other times work on a wider area. It really depends on my mood and what i’m vibing with that day. Like you can see here I’ve done some general messy colouring all over Keahi, but done a lot of refinement on the eyeball:

7) Finshing the piece, uploading and testing: When I’m sick of rendering the painting and don’t think I can add anything more to it without gnawing my own wrist off, it is time to finish up! I make sure I toggle all the layers I want on, add a top signature layer (lol I lie I forget this all the damn time). Then i’ll upload the piece to my google drive and open it up on my big 4k monitor on my PC, and on my phone, and see how it looks (my ipad is a 9.7inch air). I find that once off my ipad, it often looks a little less saturated and contrasting as it does in procreate. So I might go back and change the levels if it’s too big a difference until it looks decent across devices (it’ll never look perfect on them all though, just gotta find that happy medium).

8) Posting online I really don’t have any strict steps for this. I know some people go for optimal posting times, and will make multiple copies of their pieces in different sizes to fit better on different sites (damn you instagram and your need for everything to be square). I… do not do any of this lol. I post when I’m done whatever time or day that is. I do tend to reblog/retweet etc before I go to bed, as I live in the UK and that will at least be getting into evening time in US. I reblog my own stuff a fair bit.

Author’s Note: It’s Spooky Gays week bbs! You all remember last year when I said I'd write a fic to this exact prompt based on my post? Of course you do! I of course did not write it yet B U T don't scroll away just yet I promise there's something. I've written a little snippet (I say snippet as if it isn't literally half of one of the chapters) on one of the scenes that happen in the story but I made sure to write in a way where you don’t really need the whole fic to understand what’s going on. With that being said enjoy I guess!

Summary: Pretty much just Remus coming up with a tattoo design for Virgil and asking him out on a date.

"Y'know for a tattoo artist I'd expect you to have at least one." Virgil commented as he started watering the beautifully grown plants in the shop. "Oh I do I gave myself a tentacle sword one on the right side of my ass." Remus answered casually. "How did- Y'know what I don't wanna know." The tattoo artist cackled at seeing Virgil shake off the impressive yet disturbing thought. 

"Trust me I'm gonna get more soon. So what about you, have you ever thought about getting a tatt?" 

"I mean... I wouldn't mind getting one I just don't know of what." The florist shrugged as he finished watering the plants and walked back to the counter. "Well for starters where do you want it?" Remus asked. Virgil thought about it for a moment. Despite the florist's appearance he never thought that far ahead about where'd he even get a tattoo let alone hoped for one in the first place but knowing the tattoo artist, the mustached man would probably come up with a big or possibly suggestive kind of design for him so he went the safe route. 

"I don't know probably like..." Virgil started rolling down his sleeve and pushed his wristbands and bracelets out of the way and pointed to his wrist and forearm. "On my wrist or forearm or somewhere around there." "Hmm..." Remus suddenly took Virgil's arm and started lightly tracing the design he had in mind on the emo's wrist area. The florist fought back from shivering at the touch already knowing the smug words that would come out of the tattoo artist's mouth if he did or looked back up and saw how much he was blushing but luckily Remus was still distracted with figuring out the design. 

How did we get to this... One moment we're working across from each other and I'm trying to kick you out of here as much as possible on the daily and next thing I know I can't get enough of your stupid flirting...

"Got it." 

Virgil immediately snapped out of his thoughts once he heard Remus speak again. "I think something like a stormcloud with patches on your wrist would look good. Something like... OOH! Do you have any paper?" Virgil looked under the counter and found his sketchbook and handed it to Remus with a pencil. The florist mentally hoped and prayed the tattoo artist didn't carelessy flip the pages too fast and see the drawing of him on the very last page. 

If he asks or says anything just tell him it's Freddie Mercury but edgy. 

But Virgil instantly relaxed when Remus thankfully started sketching the design on the first empty page he spotted which was in the middle of the book. 

Remus was known to be fast with his sketches but he made sure everything was detailed and perfect to the point where he didn't even need to use the eraser. After a minute or two Remus finally finished the drawing and looked at it satisfied. "Like this."

Once the tattoo artist flipped the sketchbook over to reveal the design, Virgil stared at it amazed. When Remus said a stormcloud with patches he certainly delivered. It was so detailed that the emo even immediately knew what colors he wanted it all to be. 

"Woah holy shit that actually looks pretty badass!" "Thank you! I tend to give only the best for my Muses~" Remus winked smirking as he put the sketchbook back down.

Wink at me with those damn pretty eyes one more fucking time and I'll give you something to be smug about  

Virgil cleared his throat blushing. "I'll think about it." "Cool just let me know and I'll give it to you for free." The florist went wide eyed at hearing that. Normally people would be grateful for not having to pay for a tattoo but the thought of Remus possibly needing the money one day just didn't sit right with Virgil. 

"What? Ree no no no I can't but what if-" 

"No butts except yours getting the tatt for free Vee Vee!" Remus booped Virgil's nose to which the florist sighed defeated trying to swat the tattoo artist's hand away. "Fine." Virgil playfully huffed and crossed his arms looking away. "Good..." Remus suddenly smirked. "Fair warning though tatt's on the wrist hurt like a bitch but I'll gladly hold your hand if you need me to~" He teased wiggling his eyebrows. "Shut up." A flustered Virgil playfully hit a cackling Remus' shoulder. 

"But if you really wanna pay me back I'll also take a date as a form of payment~" 

"Not that I'm immediately saying yes or anything but what did you have in mind?" 

"There's an Italian restaurant down the street... I know how much you love pizza and bread sticks~" Remus took Virgil's hand and kissed it smirking as the emo's face became even redder. 

Can you stop making me wanna fucking kiss you for 10 seconds!?

"Alright fine you had me at the pizza and bread sticks." Virgil said not letting go of Remus' hand. The tattoo artist beamed at hearing that. "Really? Well how does tonight after we both close sound?" Virgil couldn't help but smile at Remus' eagerness. He missed seeing that pretty spark of excitement in the tattoo artist's eyes. "I'd like that." "Yes!" Remus fist pumped whispering victoriously to himself. 

"You won't be disappointed-" 

The tattoo artist was cut off by his phone alarm ringing to which he dramatically sighed and turned it off. 

"Looks like my lunch break is over... Meet back outside of here later?" 

"Sounds good." 

Remus smiled at the approval and before he could turn away and leave Virgil tugged him back to him and kissed his cheek causing him to freeze and blush.  "Now go before I change my mind and you mess up your schedule and if you do, that won't be on the lips tonight." Virgil teased. "Yes Sir~" Remus smirked and quickly ran out of the shop and back to his job. Virgil chuckled and shook his head.

Hi Cocoa! Sorry for the late reply to this ask, but I have finally found the time to procrastinate to finally answer!

Let's see, I find listening to AURORA and fairycore/cottagecore music to subconsciously inspire me! Oddly (not really) enough, once I hear songs by Elvis Presley it sparks creativity, too! And maybe making AUs! My partner and I bond over making AUs for our OCs, so most of the time the artworks stemmed from there no matter how ridiculous of a prompt it is! (And just being around my partner is a subconscious trigger to spark inspiration MYEHE)

🎨Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

I'd say about 70:30; seventy (70) being shown to my online audiences and and thirty (30) for more personal art! I like to post my more polished studies and workflow so other beginner artists can have a peak of my journey to being an artist. My commissions and other portfolio and print worthy art are posted online for general audiences! The thirty percent are more spicy art (that I sometimes show to close people only in its appropriate space), personal art for me and my partner, and the more grueling parts of of my studies like quick figure drawings, scratchy perspective practices, and long-term passion projects.

🎨 What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any? Do you just jump into drawing or practice some things first?

I do ten minute yoga every morning and do quick static chair stretches, wrist exercises, and posture checking every 20 minutes while I draw! My mother raised me to have proper poise so posture is a really big deal for me, that's why I do these simple exercises to maintain my form while I draw! Before I actually dive into a full illustration (the fully rendered ones that take like 17 hours), I do napkin and thumbnail sketches! I don't usually warm up when I start drawing, especially when I have a spur-of-the moment idea that needs to be translated immediately into paper. That's why napkin and thumbnail sketches are more efficient for me!

Here’s some samples of my process! It’s literally just: scribble the rough idea you had on your head (napkin sketch), block out the colors or the lineart (refining), then do a bit of touch up (polishing)!

Napkin sketch > Clean-up > Render

Napkin Sketch > Lineart+Flat Colors > Render

Do note that not every artist have the same process, and not one artist has one method of doing things. Sometimes I’m meticulous with lineart, sometimes I go hyperrealistic, and sometimes I don’t even need to do a thumbnail or napkin sketch. Don’t be confined to Steps One, Two, Three—do what feels right at that moment (but learning and obeying the steps are important too! You just have to get used to it before you go out to explore the right method for you!)

Clear Communication Guidelines

I love working with clients who are excited about their ideas and want to share every detail with me! My ideal process is when you send me all the information—ideas, references, descriptions, sketches, headcanons, anything you’ve got! I live for that wall of text and images. Honestly, the more you share, the better! I’m here for it, and I won’t judge. This is your chance to get all your unhinged ideas out of your head and into my hands.

If you’ve got a lot to say, take your time. Write as much as you need. I may not dive into it immediately, but when I do, I’ll be ready to focus and give it my full attention. I like to take the time to understand your vision, ask questions, and make sure we’re on the same page. I’ll always check in with you along the way!

I work primarily through Discord because it’s perfect for quick messages, sharing high-res images, and, frankly, I find it easier to track everything. Plus, you can throw as many references at me as you want—I’m ready for all the details!

Working Hours and Response Time

I operate within strict working hours of 8am - 5pm PST. Outside of those hours, my replies may be slower or sporadic, but I’ll do my best! I’m a busy person with school and work, so sometimes I can’t respond immediately. That said, if you feel like I’ve missed something or haven’t replied in a while, feel free to triple-text or ping me! Seriously, I don’t find it offensive at all. I prefer it, actually. I want to make sure I’m giving you the respect and attention you deserve, and a little reminder doesn’t bother me!

Feedback and Progress Reports

Here’s the deal: I want you to be 100% happy with your commission. If you see something you don’t like in a progress report, or if you want to make changes, let me know right away! You’re paying for a service, and your satisfaction is important to me. Nothing you say will offend me, and I’m open to any constructive feedback. I’ve heard it all, so don’t hold back! I’ll learn from your input and make sure we get it right.

Speaking of progress, I’m all about keeping you updated! I’ll send you periodic progress reports—this might be a late-night message or a screenshot at 3am because I’m excited about how it’s coming together or I want to make sure a detail looks just right. Don’t worry, it’s not a mistake! I just love to chat during the process and keep you in the loop.

Process Overview:

After payment is finalized, I’ll provide 2-4 mockups of your commission to get things started. From there, we’ll discuss any changes, and you can provide me with all the details you want to see!

The more info, the better! I’m talking references, memes, videos, Pinterest boards (my personal fave), Spotify playlists, screenshots—anything! I want to see your favorite fan art, hear your blorbo headcanons, and dive into the details. Think of this as an open invitation to go on a “there is no pepe silvia” level rant about your character. I promise, it’s not weird, and you will not bother me nor will you freak me out. I am unhinged about my blorbos too you are in a safe space. I will froth at the mouth with excitement about your blorbo and match your freak if you let me, and the more you share, the better I can make your vision come to life!

Revisions:

You’re allowed 2 free revisions at any point in the process—for example, if you don’t like the first mockups, we’ll try again. If we need to try again, there will be a non-negotiable fee of $25 USD, and then an additional $15 USD fee for any major revision after that. I will define what revision is major on a case-by-case basis. You can haggle with me on anything as long as you're not an asshole about it, but I can guarantee you won't get very far, but it never hurts to try.

I’m all about communication throughout the process. Every time I make progress, I’ll send you screenshots, ask questions, and chit-chat about your blorbo. You will never be left in the dark. We’re in this together!

This is collaborative project as far as I'm concerned.

Delivery Format:

When your commission is complete, I’ll send you a high-res PNG file of the finished piece. If you want a transparent background or no background at all, just ask—no extra charge. If you’re printing the piece, let me know if you need it in CMYK format instead of RGB.

Refunds:

Once we begin mockups, there are no refunds. Emergencies happen, and I’m open to discussion, but if I’ve already spent an hour or more on your commission (which is about how long it takes to make a mockup), I expect to be paid for my work.

All assets (mockups, sketches, etc.) will have a watermark/signature to protect my work from redistribution or profit without my permission. However, if we part ways and you need to find another artist, you’re welcome to keep and share any assets we exchanged as long as you don’t remove my watermark or credit. I’m cool with it, as long as you’re respectful!

Turnaround Time:

My turnaround time can vary depending on the complexity of the commission and my schedule. Simple sketches might take anywhere from 24 hours to 14 days, while full-color, detailed pieces can range from 6-30 days. In general, expect about 2 weeks for a commission to be finished so that when I finish it sooner than you expected you’ll be pleasantly surprised, but I’ll keep you updated throughout the process.

I keep my workload light because I value my passion for art—I don’t want this to feel like a job. It’s important to me that I’m doing this for fun!

And, don’t worry if you see me posting new art that is unrelated to the work im doing on your commission. I’m usually juggling 5-6 pieces at a time not including my comm slots, and I draw during work, school, and my downtime, like the cozy, recliner-dwelling, old woman I am.

Additional Fees or Add-ons:

Some details, like detailed backgrounds, specific accessories, or other specific requests, may come with an additional charge starting at $10. We’ll discuss pricing for these before proceeding, and I promise I’m not a monster—I’m super affordable! But, I do value my time and skill, so I expect fair compensation for my work.

If the art is in my style I’ll be happy to make just about anything I have a list of nsfw and other things I won’t draw just because it’s not my style or makes me uncomfortable but I’m happy to draw : humans, animals , anthro , lgbtq , fantasy , monster, some mechanical bots and any hybrids, etc, if it’s my first time drawing a character or species please have patience and reference if possible to ensure you get what your looking for - if you have a closed species oc you want me to draw are for you please know I will need to know that you are the current owner and not stealing as closed species are a complex matter and Each one has rules.

Hotch is running on about the details of the new case, and Spencer has no idea what they are. He’s technically aware that this stuff is important, but there are more… pressing things on his mind.

Specifically, the way that your chest stretches your blouse taught over your body, where your chest is just slightly too full for this size of a top. The fabric between two buttons right there gapes apart, just enough that he can see a sliver of your bare skin through it. Bare skin and the dainty lace edges of your bra. 

Since he made that discovery about five or ten minutes ago, his gaze hasn’t moved past that little peek. It’s been etched into his memory already, but what good is a memory when he can look at the real thing right now, be completely entranced by you, right now. 

“Reid…” he hears. He pictures you saying it, whispering it into his ear in the dark. The lights are off but he can still see your face, twisted in pleasure as you lay under him. “Reid!” It’s louder now. You’re screaming it at him as he thrusts his hips into you, faster as he approaches his high. 

“Reid!!” He feels a bump on his shoulder and suddenly that image is gone. He snaps back to the present, completely unaware that he was lost in his own dream world as he looks around at the room full of people. He doesn’t even know when they all got here.

While Gideon starts to lay into Spencer for losing his focus, you feel a heat creep up your neck. You caught him looking; you thought he was just staring into space, spurring theories in his mind, until you saw the way he turned red and stuttered through his words. He was definitely staring at you.

His eyes catch yours as you begin to smile and he shifts in his seat, readjusting to hide the obvious tell in his trousers. 

Hotch can’t dismiss the meeting fast enough; Spencer waits for the room to clear out so no one sees him as he runs off to the bathroom to… handle his situation. 

He returns to his desk still slightly flushed, even after splashing cold water on his face post-release. He’s positive the shame is splattered all over his expression as he slinks back to his seat, ducking his head and burying his nose in case files to avoid looking at you for the rest of the day. 

You want to say something, but you never get the chance. Each time you look over to him and think of approaching, something else requires your immediate attention. Whenever you see him heading in your direction, he immediately turns around and walks the other way once he sees you there. It’s a game of cat and mouse, and you are losing. 

Until the end of the day, that is. You wait him out. Spencer doesn’t want to leave the office because he knows that the second he does, you’re going to head out, too. You’ll ask to join him on the metro for some company, like always, and he’ll be stuck talking to you for forty minutes with the painful knowledge he just got himself off in the office restroom while thinking about you. 

He figures if he waits long enough, you’ll get tired and go home, and he’ll slip out twenty minutes later to make sure he doesn’t see you. Instead, you play his game and wait as long as it takes for him to finally go home. 

It’s now nine p.m. The last remaining agents on this floor left thirty minutes ago, and Spencer is still pretending to be working. You’re well aware he finished his paperwork around six or seven, but he’s scribbling away in some journal to keep busy. 

As quietly as possible, you slip away from your desk and creep up behind him, hoping to corner him like your prey. As you get closer, you see what he’s scribbling on his paper. It’s a drawing. It’s a drawing of you. 

Specifically, it’s a drawing of you from the neck down, in the exact blouse you wore today. The buttons are undone and, to the best of Spencer’s imagination, in addition to the little preview he got earlier, you’re drawn sitting in your lace bra with the sides of the shirt laying open to show it off. His memory served him far too well, he has practically every detail of your body’s shape drawn accurately. And he even knew the exact pattern of the lace. 

“Wow… that’s really good…” you whisper before you’re even aware. 

Spencer jumps in his seat, slamming his sketchbook closed as he drops his pen in shock.

“Was that me?” you blush. 

“N-no. That–that was nothing,” he swallows, shoving the book into his desk drawer. He shuffles around the objects on his desk, scrambling to pack up his bag with whatever he sees so he can make a quick escape. You grab his hand to stop him, taking a seat on the edge of the desk in front of his chair. 

“It looked pretty good.” Spencer looks everywhere but directly at you. He fiddles with his tie, his sweater, anything in his hands as your gaze burns holes into his head. Seeing him squirm like this is entirely adorable, so you tease, “Wanna see how close you got to the real thing?” 

His head snaps up, eyes bulging out. He says nothing, so you start to work the buttons on your blouse, and his eyes follow the movement of your hands. He pushes the bridge of his glasses back up his nose, clearing his throat as your fingers undo your buttons from top to bottom. 

“Your drawing looked pretty accurate to me, Spencer,” you smile, popping open the last button and moving your shirt to your sides. “Did you get the lace right?” 

His Adam’s apple bobs up and down his throat. He’s entirely focused on your chest, filling out your bra, rising and falling as you breathe. 

“I- I think so,” he stutters, shaking his head to remind himself to speak. 

“Why don’t you look closer?” You place a hand behind his head, bringing him a little closer to you. His tongue darts over his lips. Even under the dim overhead lighting, they glisten. His lips part slightly as he gets close, eyes roaming all over your exposed skin. 

“I–I…” Spencer trails. 

“You what, baby?” you giggle quietly, scratching his hair gently. He’s rock hard, clear as day, and his mind is completely blank besides thoughts of you. 

“I want you. So bad,” he whispers, barely audible. 

“I know,” you chuckle, stroking his locks with both hands now, letting your fingernails graze his scalp and send goosebumps all over him. Your thumbs rub his cheekbones, bringing his face to look up at yours. His big, brown puppy eyes are boring into yours, wide and waiting for you to say something. 

You dive down, giving him a quick peck, and he chases your lips with his own, eyes still closed, as you pull away. Your hands leave his face for only a second but still he whimpers at the loss of contact, opening his eyes to see why you’ve left him. He looks at just the right time to watch you reach around to undo the clasp of your bra, shrugging it off along with your blouse, now completely bare to him. 

“You know, your drawing is off to a good start...” you take his cheek in your palm again, guiding him to your chest. He instinctively runs his tongue over his lips to wet them before placing a reserved peck against your sternum, above your breast. Encouraged by your smile, he places another. And another. And several more, running down the valley between your breasts. 

“Maybe you just need to get a little more familiar with the subject,” you sigh as he finally moves to one side, kissing over the swell of your breast before finally attaching his mouth around your nipple, sucking softly. His glasses shift up his nose, at risk of falling off his face as he buries himself into your chest, losing himself in memorizing your skin. He carefully bites down with his teeth and pulls gently, laving over the bud with his tongue at the same time, and another whimper escapes him as you moan. “So next time, just ask me to pose for you.”

Our model today will be the legendary late Meat Loaf from the ‘I’d do anything for love’ music video! I’m just obsessed with Meat Loaf right now, don’t ask me why. I’ll do my best to describe the thought process as I go on!

Step 1.

Well of course you just start with a circle, nothing else to say. Ya know like the spongebob meme…

Step 2.

So just starting to map out about where the main facial features go. Just eyeballing and keeping it loose. I really never use any of the well known measuring techniques and honestly just draw the features onto a mostly blank head. I don’t really like most face guide techniques. 

Like for example there’s tutorials that say you have to map out the face by lining up the eyes with the edge of the nose or measuring the proper width of a nose bridge with the width of the eye and all these little ‘shortcuts’ and rules. I’m sure we’ve all seen a ‘how to draw a face’ tutorial and while I know these are helpful for some people, I find them a little stifling to expression. They give you a good map to essentially draw a flawless, wooden, conventionally attractive model but not everyone looks the same.  People have bigger noses and different snapped eyes and different length foreheads. Like, just fucking look at Meat Loaf!

Okay, rant over. Just embrace peoples unique beauty is all I’m trying to say and take that into account when you draw.

Step 3.

Starting to actually draw some of the features. As you can see I thought I put my little guideline for his eyes a little high for the shape of Meat Loaf’s face (Which I’d later change back in the line art, haha) I also draw the eyebrow line first before I draw the eyes, I don’t know why.

For noses I tend to draw a few circles for the nostrils and the tip then give a loose line for the bridge up to the brow bone. It works very well for most nose shapes. Keep it loose and tighten up the shapes as you go.

On a specific note, when I draw people with open mouths I almost always first map out the face with the jaw closed then tilt the jaw open as I go on. Something about immediately drawing that long line from the nose to the chin for an open jaw tends to just visually throws me off. Working digital has some very helpful benefits 😅

Step 4.

Okay, now that’s starting to look like a person. (Ignore the prosthetics!)

I think in this stage you can start to see my own style flare coming into play. I tend to exaggerate brow bones, lip shape and nose shape. While it’s not completely accurate to the original I think it adds to the features of whoever I’m drawing without going to a full caricature. I suppose this could be adding more ‘shape’ to something so it doesn’t appear so stiff. Highlight people uniqueness, ya know?

I’ll choose ‘expression’ over ‘accuracy’ any day 😅

Step 5.

Whoa that was a big change! …but actually not really.

Now that I’m confident(ish) I’ve got his features mostly correct I start thinking about shading and how it frames and highlights his face. I put most of my work into the expression of the line work so I’m just mapping out what needs to be highlighted and what needs to be black, essentially. And also very loosely drawing his hair 😅 I never put any thought into drawing hair. Really it’s just a shape they frames the face for me and that how I think about it.

It’s also around this point in the sketch that I spend a little more time ‘sculpting’ out the features a little more. I loosely put in their shape and about where they are then I take a little time to make them a little tighter and more accurate.

Now it’s on to cleaner line Art!

Step 6.

So really at this point it’s just tracing. For me specifically, I put A LOT of emphasis into line weight and I think that’s what makes my work unique. I also put a lot of emphasis into the black space of the piece as well. Most of my shading and shape comes from my line art rather than my colors, and that’s just how I like it. 

Final touches

After I remove the sketch layer underneath i usually add a few little detail lines or more cross hatching to emphasis certain areas. Just really stylizing it more to my liking. 

I wasn’t planning on coloring it but I spent like 5 minutes putting in some loose colors because I thought the contrasting lighting looked interesting... I guess that’s all I have to say about that.

Now I hope you all are filled with the urge to go watch the ‘I’d do anything for love’ music video. It’s... a ride.

I hope this was sooomewhat helpful and nice little glimpse of my process. I want to emphasis again that I personally believe there’s no ‘right way’ to draw a face. There’s no specific cheat code on how to draw expression good. There’s no ‘ideal’ face. I feel like if you adhere to a rigorous guide for every face and expression you draw then it takes away from the feeling in a drawing.

Fic idea you should actually totally write: Somehow MJ immediately shakes off and/or lifts the memory spell herself. But instead of moving heaven and earth to find Peter, she figures he has reasons for not finding her again so she more or less moves on with her life . After ten years of relative happiness and contentment, she finds Spider-Man purely by chance. Part of her desperately wants to rekindle her relationship, but another part is terrified of uprooting the life she built for herself for a person who might not even want her back anyway…

“Just like that?” Ned asks, his brows furrowed in a way that means he wants to understand but he can’t. 

“Yep,” MJ replies, popping her lips. She runs her forefinger around the rim of her coffee cup instead of tapping her fingers on the table like she wants because she doesn’t want Ned to figure out she’s nervous. That’s she’s not entirely sure this is what she wants. Because if he pushes her on this, she’s not sure how long she’ll be able to stand her ground. 

Because Ned is right. She has spent the better part of two years trying to figure out exactly what was missing. Why there was always a blank space in photographs where someone would fit perfectly, or why she can’t figure out where her small collection of puns t shirts came from, or why she has so many used blush pink watercolours when she doesn’t care for the colour. 

And now she knows.

Peter Parker. Now she remembers the way his hand felt in hers and now she remembers why she likes to draw the view from the roof of her old school so much and why whenever she needs a warm up sketch she automatically draws a fluffy haired boy she never recognised. 

Now she knows. She spent time and a lot of heartache collecting the pieces that were never meant to be put back together. They were never meant to be broken in the first place. 

But they were. And though now she can remember him promising them to tell them everything. It’s been two years and he hasn’t. 

It’s been two years and she hasn’t seen him since the first day at the bakery. Sure, she’s seen Spider-Man on television for one too many near misses that always made her chest hurt and she can’t think about it now without her throat burning. But she hasn’t seen Peter at all. 

“He said he’d come,” Ned whispers, as he rips his napkin in two. “I don’t care if we’re in danger -”

“But he does,” MJ replies. She knows now what she figured out as he leapt from the bridge, he was always going to keep them safe. Even if it meant going it alone. 

It’s just who he is. 

So, she won’t make his decision harder for him. If he wants them out of his life, then she knows how hard that must have been for him back then, and maybe even now - and she won’t make it worse. She’ll help him in the only way she knows how. She’ll stay away. 

“You’re sure you don’t want to contact him?” Ned asks, his eyes pleading. MJ has told him he’s welcome to do whatever he wants - whatever is going to heal his heart. 

“I’m sure,” she replies, chewing on her lip and looking out the window before Ned wins her over without even saying anything. She can’t even be sure if she misses Peter anymore, or if she’s missing what could have been. They’ve been apart longer than they were ever together. He has a girlfriend now, someone he posts occasionally on social media. MJ wonders if he’s told her he loves her yet. She’s not sure she wants to know either way. 

“I’ll go and pay,” Ned says, pushing himself away from the coffee he let go cold forty five minutes ago. But MJ can’t tear her eyes away from the street. She looks at the pedestrians that are safer because Spider-Man’s around - the people he willingly saved hours after May’s funeral. People he looked out for when he had no one at all. People he would lay his life down for, when they don’t even know who he is. 

The world is better with Peter in it. Her life was better with Peter in it - but it’s not her choice anymore. There was a time she loved him, maybe she still does, maybe it will never really go away. But as she sees a child with a Spidey sweater on, she smiles anyway. Because she’s not the only one who loves him - she never was and she never will be.  

Maybe that’s enough. It will have to be enough. 

“You ready?” Ned asks.

“Yeah,” she sighs. It’s not like when they leave here, having had their final discussion on whether or not they should seek Peter out, their world is going to end. It just feels like this part of their life is done. It’s over. The life she had with Peter is gone. 

It doesn’t feel like the world’s ending when the door closes behind them and the wind picks up strands of her hair. It doesn’t feel like the world’s ending when she waves goodbye to Ned where he turns left and she continues straight on. But it hurts all the same. So she buries her hands in her coat, her chest aching with the need of a good cry. She just needs to get home first. 

But then -

“Oooph,” she says, almost knocked to her arse by a busy body on the street. She can’t really complain, she was barely looking where she was going and they did stop her from falling to the floor with their hands on her arms.

“I’m so sorry, miss,” they start and she knows that voice. She’s thought about nothing but that voice for days. It plays in her dreams and she thinks about it even when she’s desperately trying not to. 

But it's not the fluffy hair and the weird eyebrow she sees. It's the suit because of course, it is 

“Spider-Man?” she asks, finally looking up from the ground in time to see the lenses on his mask widen. 

“Mic - ma’am,” he stutters, his hands hovering on her arms as if she might still fall to the floor. She didn’t expect him not to recognise her but the way he almost said her name will haunt her for an unreasonable length of time she’s sure. “Are you alright?” 

“Yeah,” she breathes, clamping her jaw shut before she screams that she misses him so much she feels a little insane. She knew letting him go wasn’t going to be easy but she wasn’t anticipating it being this hard this quickly.

“Good,” he says, his chest almost doubling in size with how deep the breath he lets go is. “That’s good.

“Are you alright?” she asks, her eyes flicking over his face. She’s not sure what she wants him to say other than to tell her he’s missed her and he loves her and staying away was the worst idea he’s ever had because then she won’t have to continue walking. Then she’d be able to stay. 

Her question startles him and he drops his hands.

“Erm, yeah, yeah, of course, I am, yep,” he says, running his hand over his mask and it’s so much like her Peter that she almost breaks right there. She has no idea how Peter managed - she can only assume he’s over it now. She bites her lip to stop from saying something she'll regret. 

“Okay, well,” he starts, gesturing with his hands like he’s got to swing away. MJ didn’t hear any sirens but now she looks, people are starting to stare. 

“Yeah, well, have a good day, Spidey,” she says, feeling like that's useless but there’s nothing much left to say that’s at all fair. 

“Yeah, you as well,” he sighs. He looks like he might touch her again, maybe say something else. But then he’s gone. 

And MJ can’t find it in herself to leave. It’s not like this random corner of Manhattan is now her and Peter’s spot because her and Peter aren’t even a thing.They’re less than a thing. And he’s already gone. So she’s standing on the corner looking like a fool and feeling even worse. So she’ll count to ten and then she’ll go. 

She hits eight and a half and sighs, feeling her heart fall to the floor and she goes to walk away. She’s not sure why but she turns to check she’s not about to walk out in front of someone because if someone else bashes into her, she won't be as forgiving.

But as she does, her gaze catches the red and blue of his suit peering down from the rooftop. She sees him duck but there's no wall to save him. She's already seen him looking at her. His head pops back out and she can picture Peter's blushed face so clearly her chest almost cracks in half.

She waves because she can and he waves back. A small, barely there wave but she'll draw it when she gets home anyway. 

Staying away from Peter is going to prove difficult. That much she knows. It's a good thing New York is a big place. She'll probably never see him again even if she wanted to.
