i’ve seen relationship therapists and psychologists analyse hermione and ron’s relationship and conclude that they wouldn’t work out in the long run. they’ve argued for hermione to be with harry, krum, even DRACO (don’t understand how a counsellor can vow for canon dramione but alright) as an alternative partner for hermione since ron is “too insecure” to be with her and match her intelligent prowess or what have you.
i seriously don’t understand this sentiment. ron and hermione genuinely seem (almost) perfect to me, maybe not in the movies (a common denominator of people who don’t like romione is that they always cite evidence from the movies, since the films took a lot away from ron’s character and his growth), but definitely in the books.
looking at ron’s insecurities, a lot of people dredge his inferiority complex up to toxic masculinity primarily, when it was more explored how it was an effect of his home life (not gonna argue toxic masculinity wasn’t a factor, they’re teenagers in the 90s written by a pretty misogynistic woman so…). he was the youngest son out of how many children? all of his older brothers were brilliant in some way. bill was an extremely gifted spellcaster, charlie was gifted with magical beasts, percy’s academic score was unmatched, and fred and george (despite their trouble) were entrepreneurial inventor-geniuses. ron, on the other hand, was quite literally born a disappointment to his mother, who conceived him specifically because she wanted a daughter, whilst ginny was born her favourite (though, even then, ginny was gifted at quidditch). ron was mediocre in every sense of the word, and his two best friends were harry (one of the most famous wizards) and hermione (the smartest witch of her age yada yada). and i’ve seen people argue that harry was more welcomed by molly into the weasley household than ron ever was. this isn’t even mentioning the amount of bullshit he copped for being poor (people always downplay the blow to confidence being in poverty can have on a person who is constantly surrounded by people who not only have more, but look down on him for simply being unlucky as to not have what they do).
so yeah, ron was an envious kid, but he was that way not because he was an evil patriarchal conception but because he was lowkey neglected. and even then he was overall an extremely devoted and loyal friend to both harry and hermione, because he did genuinely love them.
there were many moments of ron standing up for hermione that was cut from the films, not as a guy who was romantically interested in her, but as a friend. ron arguing with snape for making hermione cry is one of my fav scenes in the books ru kidding me, and in the movies he AGREED with snape RU KIDDING ME. not to mention how ron was a sobbing violent mess when hermione was getting tortured in the last book, whereas he wasn’t nearly as bothered in the films. and the films cut out harry being a dick to ron about his familial concerns (in dh), so when ron left it seemed like a random dickish move over his jealousy towards harry and hermione’s relationship.
there’s also a million moments where they minimised ron’s usefulness in the books for comedic purposes (forbidden forest with aragog, troll scene, devils snare scene) so ron seems dumber than he is. like, he’s actually smart and a really good spellcaster…. in the books.
so simply by stating this most of the arguments against romione become void. “he’s too stupid/weak for her” simply not true. “he’s a terrible friend who doesn’t stand up for her” also not true. “he’s too insecure to have made a move on her,” yes, but given the context i don’t think people would freak on about ron’s upbringing, i think many would be more understanding, especially considering his growth. even if he wasn’t insecure, hermione is beyond incredible and is bound to make anyone nervous when pursuing her (not an excuse for ron to act like a dick, but it does explain a lot where the movies don’t). “they argue too much” they bump heads, none of the arguments they have are actually super damning, with the exception of ron leaving in deathly hallows.
maybe i’ve covered everything (excluding the abhorrent amount of classism that clouds people’s judgments around how they view ron when harping about how hermione deserves better? hopefully).
now, i know people won’t like me mentioning the cursed child, but i’m going to considering we actually get an insight of their life as a longterm married couple there. a lot of ron stans hated how ron was the only character that wasn’t doing something incredible. harry was head of the aurors, ginny was a famous quidditch player retired to a famous journalist, neville was a hogwarts professor, hermione was quite literally minister on magic. and ron…. ran the joke shop with george.
and i think this was almost the perfect route to go down for ron. because he was average, and was perfectly fine with just being average. hello?? that speaks leagues of growth for his character. he’s supportive of hermione’s work, he grounds her when she gets too caught up in being the literal president of wizarding society, and he still viciously defends her, minister or not. in fact, he’s proud to simply be known as hermione’s husband because he doesn’t feel the need to prove to anyone else his worth. the people he loves most know his worth, hermione never downplays or underestimates him, they are complete equals in the relationship in every single way that matters. they kept ron’s best qualities whilst making him seem more of a healed person. they work so well as a married couple without it seeming like mischaracterisation (not to mention the cursed child literally shows how those two are in love in every reality, so there quite literally can’t be a better partner for hermione or ron according to canon).
so i really don’t understand how professional relationship counsellors can go online and denounce it. probs because they only watched the movies, but it’s 2023 and ron stans should not STILL be fighting for their lives trying to defend him from people who simply don’t consume media with as much depth (which is fine, but one should clarify if they’re talking about the movies because i’ve seen people state they’re talking about the hp BOOKS when it’s simply just…. the films). anyways. romione on top, thanks to coming to my ted talk.

Hi! Your art has gotten me into SteamBat. I'm so behind on Monster High stuff, I wanted to ask; do they ever interact in canon? I honestly can't remember a whole lot about either of their pasts. If not, do you have an idea for their history and how everything went down?
Either way your art is really cute and I'm here for the star-crossed lovers.
Yes they do!!!! In the movie Frights Camera Action.
If you dont wanna go watch it though I'll summarize:
Basically theres this magic vampire artifact called "The Vampire's Heart" its meant to reveal who the Vampire Queen is. The Vampire Court more or less fell apart about 400 years ago due to humans but also because the heart went missing and they couldnt claim a new queen.
Modern day Lord Stoker(current interim leader of the court until the queen is found) claims to have the Vampire's Heart as it reveals Draculaura to be the new queen. The twist is that this heart is a fake and Lord Stoker was hoping he could use Draculaura as a puppet leader while controlling everything himself in the shadows. Turns out tho that the True Queen was in fact Elissabat, his niece, who disappeared alongside the Court's falling apart, and the Vampire's Heart disappearing. Draculaura was actually friends with her back in the day and so the ghoul gang (made up of Draculaura, Cleo, Robecca, and Clawdeen) decide to go find her. They meet other ghouls along the way and the b plot is about this movie series called the Vampire's Majesty that Draculaura hates but is really popular generally. (Vaguely meant to be goofing off the irl Twilight team Edward vs team Jacob thing)
Throughout their journey trying to track down what happened 400 years ago and where Elissabat went, Robecca starts having these odd feelings. She never met Elissabat or had even heard of her til now but she feels this odd connection to her. Robecca's desire to find Elissabat is almost entirely removed from the goal of needing to find The Queen in order to save the court from Lord Stoker. By the end Robecca's weird connection to Elissabat becomes their guide, leading them to her.
In the movie when they finally find Elissabat it is revealed that the Heart was entrusted to Hexiciah Steam who used it to build his daughter Robecca. It now resides inside of her as a power source. (Therefore it spent at least 100 years laying in the catacombs before the ghouls found Robecca and pieced her back together)
The fact that Robecca's literal actual heart is intended to find Elissabat and to glow in her presence is kinda dropped after that. There's other plot stuff going on. Personally if it were me I'd take more time to explore Robecca's feelings on all this. The movie frames Elissabat as taking the throne back willingly cuz shes now ready but like... Part of the problem in finding her is that Elissabat didn't just run away as a means of staying safe from her power hungry uncle(who its implied killed her dad) but also because she doesnt Want to be the Queen.
She has dreams and Goals of her own. She's an actress!! Thanks to braces and lasik her physical appearance is quite different(plus i like to imagine she styled her hair differently, even if thats not canon to the movie) people don't really recognize her by the time film comes around. Her stage name is Veronica Von Vamp btw and she happens to be the star of that movie series Draculaura hates lmao. And its kinda just implied that she just does both now after all this with her identity just out in the open. I feel like itd kinda suck. So I like to imagine she's got a bit of a Hannah Montana situation going on with her identities. Obviously her friends and trusted court members would know, but otherwise she keeps the two lives separate in some way.
My take would either to have her be a small time actress, she works on indie films and stage shows primarily. Maybe the Vampire's Majesty was something she did more out of nostalgia and never expected it to get as big as it did. So after its over she keeps taking on smaller projects and less known stuff because acting is her true passion.
There's not really enough time to deal with her angst about becoming Queen to protect Draculaura/get rid of her Uncle and how that effects her life. But I do love to think about the fall out of that decision and how she copes, maybe Robecca helps her through that which leads them to developing a romantic relationship.

Okay. Kate and UNIT.
I don't have a problem with negative characterisation. And unlike a lot of uh,,, questionable things that some characters have done in other episodes, what Kate did is clearly meant to be negative. I do not think this episode was meant to be pro-military despite UNIT being victimised.
However.
I have two huge gripes with Kate and UNIT. One is to do with Kate's characterisation and the other is to do with the framing of UNIT in this era but this episode especially.
First: UNIT. Just like Kerblam! I feel like the ending of this episode undermines its wider message, but in this case it feels like it was just. Rushed. You mean to tell me you unleashed a creature to mutilate that boy and the conspiracy ended? #IStandWithUNIT???
Nah mate you just essentially martyred their leader in a brutal and horrific way. I get that he attacked first and admitted on camera to murder and fabricating the truth and that would lose his movement a lot of traction but you would also have a whole new problem of people going "OMG SEE? THEY JUST SIC MONSTERS ON CIVILIANS" and they wouldn't even all be right-wing podcast bros any more. Like was there a cover-up campaign UNIT did that I missed or..?
I get that you have to wrap up the episode neatly but even just "this will take a long time to clean up but Think Tank have lost enough traction that we can finally breathe again" or something would have worked better
Because unfortunately another trend in RTD2 has been "something in a fairly solid episode has really unfortunate implications" and the fact that the public are generally supportive of UNIT undermines the "that was Too Far" in what Kate did
Which brings me to my problem with Kate. How did we get here? What is her motivation? And do not invoke the EU to answer that question, because the EU is supplementary and the show should make sense without it.
Again, I have no problem with negative character development. In fact I LOVE negative character development. The issue here is that the development part was missing.
When and why did she abandon “science first”? When did she stop trying to make UNIT a primarily scientific peacekeeping organisation? What happened to make her so quick to pull the trigger on potential threats? When did she start using Lethbridge-Stewart again and why? When did UNIT go from covert and secretive to having a fucking Avengers tower and being public knowledge?
Much like Game of Thrones’ infamous final season (though on a far smaller and less egregious scale), Kate’s turn from scientific peacekeeper to trigger happy and frankly bloodthirsty military leader came entirely out of nowhere pretty much immediately at the start of RTD2 with no explanation. It could be such a compelling arc but without even a “what happened to you Kate?” line to make it deliberate it’s like we’re just meant to ignore it.
I know there was the moment in the Zygon Invasion but iirc that was Kate being pushed to the defining point of her personal character arc — the moment in narrative where the character can either strengthen their convictions or change their mind. In making that choice and stepping away from the nuclear option, Kate ultimately strengthened her conviction and characterisation as a peacekeeping, scientifically minded person. I’m fine with the show exploring this kind of “what if she picked the nuclear option” scenario but we as the audience have to be in on for it to hit right.
Which we are not. So it just feels like RTD has completely misunderstood and twisted her character for his own gain without even paying respects to her original writer or arcs thusfar.
Someone said it seemed like Rusty hadn’t actually watched Who since his first era and just skimmed a footnotes version of events before he started up again and BOY does it show with UNIT and especially Kate.
Maybe it will turn out all of this was a long game and it all goes back to “I made a jigsaw out of your history”. But if you are going to play THIS long of a game the story still has to hold up before the reveal. Things have to make sense and the stuff that is “odd” about it has to feel deliberate (like the season formula so far! It feels on purpose and it has me curious about Why we’re repeating history like this. Even if I feel like it’s primarily a massive RTD1 ego stroke it still works as a hint that Something Is Up while allowing the episodes to still be judged on their own merits).
This does not feel deliberate. It feels like we’ve missed a season between Jodie’s era and the specials. It feels like lazy writing.

Discussing OCD through the prisoners of Milgram
What if all the milgram characters had ocd? Besides jackalope. (and Es, but I might come back to them). These aren't serious headcanons this is just to explore the diversity of the disorder and potential scenarios.
Just to get some things straight for people who don't know much about ocd - ocd themes and the intrusive thoughts around them are EGODYSTONIC, meaning they go against everything the person actually wants and who they are as a person. This will be at the forefront of what I will be discussing here. Furthermore my experience of ocd has been primarily "Pure O" (internal compulsions) so I know less about more externally compulsive ocd presentations.
Haruka - trauma-based/real event/harm ocd. Going off the theory that the 'second child' was himself, this doesn't work otherwise. I truly believe that Haruka really didn't want to hurt anything anymore after his horror at his murder. I believe that event deeply traumatised him and he became terrified of himself. Now, theoretically, this could result in constant intrusive thoughts about hurting others, despite it now being the absolute opposite of what he wants, particularly animals and children. In this scenario, his avoidance of those things is a compulsion, his eventual ability to overcome his fear of Amane is the start of his recovery from this. However, he died so that didn't get very far.
I will clarify, I'm not an ocd expert but I do have personal experience with the disorder. And the trauma-based/real event/harm combo, in particular, was one of my two main themes, though for myself it was sh.
Yuno - I doubt Yuno has ocd but for the sake of this I could theoretically see an existential theme. Existential topics are definitely something that weigh on her mind a lot and doubt over existential questions (e.g am I really alive?) seem consistent with her character. However I don't think we really see her having anxiety or anything around these so likely not.
Fuuta - moral scrupulosity ocd. Someone has already discussed this an I agree with what they said. Shout out to @azuremist, that's where this idea came from (me impulsively saying give all the milgram characters ocd like I wanted to make milgram worse for them or something 😭)
Muu - I don't think Muu has ocd tbh and I'm struggling to think of an idea for a scenario that fits with canon where she could have? Though this may be more on the basis of her having low empathy and my experience of ocd being empathy-based? People with low-empathy can have ocd but it looks different so I know less about it. This is not at all a judgement against people with low empathy btw! I am part of the autistic community and likely have a personality disorder so I know and understand a lot of people with low empathy (cognitive/emotional or both).
Shidou - ah 100%, someone else has also already discussed this. I think moral/harm ocd as well though. @vividstardustrevolution has written a theory post about it which was very thorough in analysis and I don't really have anything to add though idk if its on tumblr. Shidou is actually a character I really relate to
Mahiru - okay let's use our brain sunny. Relationship ocd - cheaters are who she hates the most, hence intrusive thoughts about cheating. I could definitely see that. Alongside her likely having bpd it would add to the intensity of her anxiety her relationship. The constant checking and calling could have doubled as compulsions to reassure herself that she still loves him and everything's okay between them.
Kazui - this is a hard one because he has a lot of irrational guilt but that's likely over internalised homophobia, it's seen that he does actually have a desire and genuine attraction towards men, he enjoys it, just feels that he shouldn't - so he can't have sexual orientation ocd. I also think due to the fact that he genuinely didn't love Hinako romantically, he didn't have relationship ocd. Unrelated to his main struggles, he definitely has excessive feelings of responsibility but I feel that that's more due to the situation he's in. Conclusion: I can't think of a way Kazui can have ocd, hell maybe he has somatic ocd or something who knows.
Amane - trauma-based/religious ocd. Almost self-explanatory. I think it's perfectly plausible that Amane experiences obsessive religious intrusive thoughts about 'sinning' and has to perform compulsions, maybe even continuing the abusive punishments her parents subjected her to or just simply praying, to in her mind, neutralise these thoughts.
Mikoto - again I don't know, don't really think Mikoto or John have ocd. Mikoto maybe? But I don't know what theme. EDIT - thank you @bravadoting for helping me come up with this idea: Mikoto somatic ocd headcanons fr. Because Mikoto is so hyperaware of how others percieve him he is constantly worrying about people noticing the tiniest noises and movements he makes. He worries about whether not being able to stop noticing his blinking or mouth noises will get in the way of his productivity or whether he is unprofessional for having to go to the loo often to make sure his bladders empty. He gets anxious when talking to his boss that he's blinking too much/too little, getting muscle twitches/tics in the 'wrong' body parts or making too loud mouth noises and that those things will be seen as unprofessional or creepy. He worries he'll get fired because he's not moving right. This extends to his interactions with everyone but his symptoms were most severe when he was at work/trying to do work due to the stress. John starts fronting whenever this becomes too overwhelming for Mikoto and has to mask as him to cover the rest of the situation.
Kotoko - yeah possibly? Stick with me here guys. Kotoko has very strong, if pretty skewed due to black and white thinking, moral convictions. She believes with all her heart that the bad guys should die but evidently has some deep seated self hatred towards herself as well (she views everyone as victim or monster and constantly reminds us she is apparently not a victim). Anyway I think Kotoko could totally have a taboo ocd theme or any moral related theme (tho not anything related to physical violence as we see she has no problem with that and probably not pocd as she doesn't seem scared of kids at all/doesn't avoid them). I just feel it'd make sense given she probably spends a lot of time thinking about how evil and unforgivable some people are then her brain responds to that with intrusive thoughts, worrying she could be like them (istg this happens to me whenever my annoying ocd brain comments about something being unthinkable, honestly at this point I've had intrusive thoughts about every 'unthinkable' thing) which further motivates her vigilantism because she feels she needs to prove to herself that she's not evil.

They finally posted a trailer and poster for the next batch of EarthSpark. And it’s described as S3, though experience with Netflix makes me think this is just the remainder of S2… Still according to the marketing, fans finally got a third season, so that counts for something. It’s only roughly 7 episodes, but G1’s final fourth season was a three part finale, so a very short season isn’t unheard of.
Tumblr media
This poster is a lot better than the past main posters they’ve used over and over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are better also, but they don’t get used much.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But after RotB & TFONE, I think we can all agree decent advertising isn’t modern Hasbro & Paramount’s strong suit.
As for the trailer itself, it continues a trend I’ve noticed where most EarthSpark ancillary stuff tends to down play the Terrans. Twitch appears for a split second and Thrash appears in a gag where he gets shot… continuing his “just kinda there” vibe.
The trailer primarily focuses on the traditional Autobot & Decepticon conflict, with a big focus put on Prowl, the newest and seemingly only Transformer added to the cast so far.
A news article further describes Prowl as an “old world” Autobot detective who trusts the hard facts & always finds the truth. He is immediately distrustful of Optimus’ allies, so presumably that includes the Maltos, Terrans and naturally Megatron. It’s interesting how he’s specifically described as a detective, perhaps that’s to avoid ACAB allegations I could see the old writers attempt through him….
Prowl’s G1 profiles cast him as a by the books, semi prickly, military strategist. This doesn’t really get explored in the old cartoon, and while it was touched on briefly in Marvel, IDW went hog wild with it, casting its Prowl as a corrupt cop antagonist towards the end of the run. IDW2 cast him as more of a detective pre-war though, possibly where EarthSpark borrowed it from, and while he was still a hard-aft, he had a soft spot for his pet dinosaur-alien.
Tumblr media
The main villains of the season, unsurprisingly, are the Quintessons. Their leader is a female Judge, who the blurb declares it “is her birthright to possess the power of the Emberstone. She’s wise, dangerous, and her ego is so large that it’s no wonder she has five heads”.
What exactly constitutes gender among the Quints has never really been defined before.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It might be safe to say as far as the G1 cartoon is concerned, they’re an all male race.
WFC & CV attempted to insert female gender among the Judges, having some of the masks speak in a female voice.
That adds another oddity to Judge biology, as the G1 cartoon or Marvel UK comics never stated the other faces being separate personalities, instead other media describes them as different emotional states.
Alpha Q in Superlink did have multiple personalities based on which mask was displayed, each one squabbling/talking amongst themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Presumably WFC/CV borrowed from Alpha Q, but the ES Quintesson Judge might be operating on G1 logic, each mask being a single (female) gender, as she has a female voice actor only.
The other big G1 thing the trailer shows is the Hate Plague. The leaked synopsis already revealed it, but like G1, those infected with the plague glow an intense red.
Tumblr media
Once infected, they turn incredibly violent and try to kill each other. Despite the G1 show’s violence, nobody actually died ironically, at least it was never confirmed. The synopsis implies the Quintessons unleashed the Hate Plague on the Transformers, and while the 80’s Quints were instead among the victims of the outbreak, they do have a vague connection to it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The oldest known leader within the Matrix, only known as “It”, resembles a Quintesson, with Japanese media confirming that’s what they are. Optimus Prime asks this ancient Quintesson how to combat the Hate Plague, with It saying the Plague couldn’t be outright destroyed but contained, where a wise man trapped the spores in a star. The spores nevertheless has a weakness to pure wisdom, so Optimus unleashes the power of the Matrix and uses its eons long store of wisdom to eradicate the virus once and for all… Until it briefly returns in Beast Machines.
As mentioned before, the Hate Plague isn’t exactly a popular concept cartoons like to go back to. Comics don’t like using it typically either, so its inclusion here is both unique but also a little… peculiar. I’m leaning towards it being a vague, modern topical metaphor for something, as an infected Megatron is fighting Optimus in particular. Probably some hogwash about Megatron succumbing to his biases and own hatred, but we’ll see soon enough.
Perhaps the most utterly bizarre detail is the blurb seemingly confirming the return of Spitfire and Aftermath.
How…?
Starscream yanked out their Allspar-er-Emberstone Shards, and the rock itself is dust. You can’t get any deader than that.
The only thing I can guess, is similar to Sari’s key, the Sleeves are the repository of the Emberstone’s life giving energies (the sleeves do just about anything else now so why not), and the Malto kids are incentivized to revive the two Decepticon Terrans for some reason.
MetroTitans in IDW also can grant life and that was carried over to Prime Wars, so it’s possible Terratronus can grant life too, and she restores the Terracons.
Worst case scenario is the two hellions are back up and running like nothing happened, and their death is never addressed again.
Crap writing if so, but the previous two scenarios would be preferable.
Not much longer to wait now. This might be the final batch, as the Quintessons make sense as the final end goal in the struggle over the Emberstone. The show has never been super committed to showing what’s going on Cybertron that whatever Prowl and Cosmos have to add to the matter is probably the best we’ll get. Plus the Terrans don’t have much incentive or interest to even go to Cybertron anyway; Alex would get more out of going there than his kids. Only thing I could guess is the Quints took over Cybertron off screen and that loosely ties into the Judge’s role on Earth, but eh. We’ll see.

Hope it's okay to ask here, I love your blog and how you give clear, concise answers to questions without assuming bad faith so hopefully it's ok to throw my own "warning tag" question in here, TIA for the answer! So, childhood friends-to-lovers is like one of my favourite romance tropes to write in fanfic. I've done a LOT of ships with that, but I've never actually written anything more uh...spicy, shall we say. Until after the ship were both adults. I was raised Extremely Fundie and wasn't very sex positive for a LONG time as a result but now that I'm older & out of that environment I've grown a lot. So because of religious upbringing I just avoided writing smut before both characters were 18 "to be safe". In a recent new fandom I'm in I have a character who I feel like very much WOULD have explored her sexuality before she turned 18. The partner in this context is her childhood friend so they grew up together and are probably at most like 3 years apart, if that. So my question is, would I tag that as Underage because, even tho they're close together in age (ie. both "minors" in that sense) they ARE Underage or is the Underage tag on AO3 solely for Adult/Minor ships? (not judging writers of Adult/Minor pairings either, I'll add. It's just not my scene and I don't want to give people the wrong impression in the tags, either way around, whenever I inevitably write & post their First Time fic, yk?) -🌸 (hope its okay to tag this so I can maybe find it later? I don't wanna ask this off anon in case I get blasted by That(tm) side of fandom at large who might see my username and then come into my DMs/inbox to scream "P*do!!" at me, but I DO wanna be able to see the answer when it comes up, esp if I am not on tumblr the day that it does haha)
--
Ah. You're still thinking about that tag in a more cultural sense, but that's not what it's for. If you dig through the FAQs and such, the explanation is in there somewhere, but to summarize, it refers to:
On page depictions of sexual activity including at least one character under 18.
(So if they just kiss or you just say she had sex but you don't show intercourse, oral, etc. on the actual page, it doesn't count.)
AO3's underage tag is actually to protect users who live in jurisdictions where <18 sexytimes are banned from art or banned unless there's ~artistic merit~ or whatever. Around the time AO3 was starting up was when Australia was having a big upheaval over such things, so it was on people's minds in the Anglosphere.
Whether the sex is problematique or age gap or whatever doesn't matter. The actual age of consent or laws around sex in the real world location these characters are in, if any, does not matter. Your 17-year-old UK characters fucking still need the warning or CNTW even though that's laughable in context. 18 tends to be the age most used in international law for... like... porn star ages and such, so 18 is what AO3 went with. Never mind that it's not necessarily the age of majority or that age of consent laws can depend on partner age, etc. etc.
Unlike noncon/graphic violence/character death, this warning isn't there primarily because readers find the topic squicky.
It's a legal ass-covering thing.

Do you have any criticism towards the Magnus Family fans?
Anon, all I got is criticism, I'm a full time hater ❤️❤️
Okay unironically though, if you're looking for specifics, well my prevailing feeling about Magnetfam folks is that a lot of them feel like Batfam people who got lost. By that I mean it feels like a community built around fanlore and fan material, as opposed to actually engaging with the text itself, or if they do engage with the comics, it's often being read with those fan interpretations in mind. You see this with people making House of M to be this great AU thing that makes them a royal family, and not the deeply ableist, misogynistic, racist storyline that it is.
Equally, and I want to make it clear that there's no wrong way to get into comics, and this conversation is much more about how movie characterisations keep them from engaging with comics on their own, but a lot of them appear to have gotten into comics via the X-Men movies, and specifically via the prequel films, which offer a very warped view on Magneto, and especially one on Pietro, not that you can call that character Pietro in a meaningful way. It's in the way the focus is primarily on Magneto, with Wanda and Pietro (especially Pietro) being more accessories to him than actual characters.
Look, I hate the retcon as much as the next person, but Wanda and Pietro's mutant identities, while important, have never been a defining aspect of their characters, and you can easily make a recognisable Pietro and Wanda without making them children of Magneto. But then they wouldn't be related to the X-Men, and you can't expect us to read something that isn't the X-Men, right? It's interesting, because the bulk of the comics that discuss Wanda's mutant identity and her experience of being a Rromani mutant witch are Avengers comics, but those don't count because X isn't in the title. Pietro makes more sense to be related to the X-Men (he was in two different volumes of X-Factor after all), but even then, his character journey can never be contained to just what he does in X Books, and I feel like a lot of people ignore this because of the preoccupation with Magneto. It isn't a bad thing to have a favourite character–but it feels weird to position yourself as a fan of the whole "family" while Wanda and Pietro's relation to the family is only an nth of the total comics they've been in.
Also, I get frustrated with the blanketing of all the interesting dynamics in the family to be the same, "I choose you and I love you" relationship they seem to have now. This is going to be a controversial statement, but I don't think Lorna and Wanda should necessarily get along. I think they respect each other a great deal, but they have never grown up together in any way, and they've never enjoyed the same experience of being on the same team and building a solid dynamic like Lorna and Pietro. And that isn't a bad thing! As someone with family members I was estranged from my whole life and only met as an adult, sometimes you never gain the same level of intimacy and love that you do with people you've lived your whole life knowing, and sometimes you just don't really get on. And that's okay too! It's an awkward situation, but that's just family as a whole a lot of the time, and I would have appreciated seeing the different ways different people in those situations react to suddenly having an entire sister they never knew about. Plus, it would be an interesting spin on the norm, which is that Wanda is much more approachable and social than Pietro, but with Lorna she's suddenly the one struggling to make friends. I dunno, I just think a lot of the complexity of family dynamics gets sucked out and that's a big shame to me because one of the most interesting parts of this side of the Marvel Universe is the exploration of navigating new family as an adult, which is a difficult experience I rarely see represented in media.
Finally, and this is completely a me thing, but I don't like the way Vision and Crystal are excluded from the family. Regardless of your opinions on the healthiness of their respective relationships, objectively speaking they are incredibly important to the family as the reason why Wanda and Pietro each have children. There is no Tommy, Billy or Luna without Vision and Crystal, and it kind of shows how the emphasis really is on Magneto and Magneto alone, because everyone who doesn't have a relationship with him is excluded. As I've discussed before, Wanda objectively loves Crystal as a person, and she should be far more prominent as someone Wanda values as a sister in law than she is. Additionally, Vision and Pietro have a much closer and more mature relationship than they are depicted with in fanon, because people saw that one panel of Pietro calling Vision a watch out of context and have never read anything of them together since. Vision and Crystal ARE a part of their family, and if you can't accept that then I think you need to get into something else.

Creepypasta pride headcanons because its pride month
i dont think im gonna tag this since its just personal hcs and i rarely include my personal lgbt hcs in my normal posts shrugshrug.. asides nina, i use my personal hcs for nina in normal posts because those hcs are so deeply ingrained in how i perceive them LMAO notes: not an x reader post, VERY short post, as mentioned above the only character hcs that effect my main writing is ninas hcs the others so not control my normal x reader posts that get requested! if any characters have confirmed identities from their creators LET ME KNOW! i dont keep up with stuff outside of the original stories!
SLENDERMAN
doesnt really do labels and doesnt really know any. he does know that there are different identities but its not really anything that matters to him. responds to any pronouns though! grayromantic, or even aromantic, same with sexual attraction!
SPLENDORMAN
knows about identities and labels a bit thanks to interacting with humans! is fine with any pronouns but defaults to he/it/they! pansexual demiromantic! hip hip hooray!
TRENDERMAN
similar to splendor with the "knows identities and what they are/mean" thing. primarily uses he/him pronouns but sometimes uses it! attracted to men and masc presenting folk! asexual
JEFF THE KILLER
trans female to male, uses he/him pronouns! bisexual king, has no real preference i think... not much to say here! a lot of these are going to be short!
JANE THE KILLER
i hop between headcanoning her being lesbian or bisexual with a HEAVY lean to women. alternatively i can see her being a lesbian who IDs as bi/unaware that they arent actually attracted to men. uses she/her pronouns
BEN DROWNED
little guy
LAUGHING JACK
knows about labels and stuff but jack personally is unlabeled and just doesnt care about putting any names to how he feels. responds to any pronouns, perhaps GNC because he has many interests that are usually associated with both genders... attracted to all genders, develops crushes easily so i dont think he falls under the aro spectrum if he were to pick any labels
EYELESS JACK
unlabeled for the most part but he does have "maybe" identifiers to help communicate what he knows he likes/identifies as! uses he/they pronouns, demiromantic! attracted to both sexes, fine with dating all genders
LAUGHING JILL
demiromantic lesbian, demigirl me thinks! uses she/they/it pronouns
NINA THE KILLER
genderfluid and uses any pronouns at any given time, truly does not care how you refer to them! pansexual
MASKY
demiromantic and asexual uses any pronouns but tends to use he/it :)! no preference for gender in terms of dating
HOODIE
panromantic and demisexual, i think! him and masky are probably the least developed in terms of these sorts of hcs so these hcs are likely to change! uses he/it pronouns though tends to default to he/him
TICCI TOBY
uses just he/him pronouns, i think hes questioning a lot of his stuff and for the most part just labels himself as questioning. exploring isnt really his priority, he kind of just lets what feels right guide him when navigating relationships! can see him being a demiboy but not knowing of the label/being aware... but on the other hand he gives such trans man vibes.. double headcanon like jane- i can see toby as either or! we love multi sets of hcs in this house
Edit: Toby's confirmed bisexual let's fucking GOOOOO!! Question/unsure to bisexual pipeline by beloved + my personal experience (I no longer ID as bi BUT!!!!!)

Things I LOVED in NATLA Episode 7 - The North
Lt Jee actually being worried for Zuko!!!!
And Iroh tenderly bandaging Zuko's head 🥺
Zuko desperate to make sure his father doesn’t truly think he's turned against him!!!!!
A FANTASTIC set-up for his eventual ACUTAL turn against his father
Zuko genuinely thanking Lt. Jee 😢
And aaggghhhh!!! Zhao being a tricky slimey mf
This is a slick way to get Zuko being blown up without the pirates - though they're fun characters, I think this set-up enhanced the themes they were exploring in the season more
TEAM AVATAR!!
So cute that Aang excitedly tells his friends he made a connection with Zuko - Sokka is unimpressed while Katara has hope that people can turn out to be good.
Agna Qel'a!!!!
It looks GORGEOUS! And love that it has a name now!!
Apparently it was given a name in one of the books, but they never did name it in the show, so I'm glad they did it here
I don't even care that they know it's the Avatar right off bat and they're ready to welcome them in - it was cool as shit flying over the city on Appa
Maybe they had scouts out that saw Appa flying and brought news to the city, same as the scouts who saw the Fire Nation fleet - I'll accept that
Them treating Aang like a weapon rather than a person 😡
It's something that comes up a lot in the series and I'm glad they aren't shying away from it
Lol Katara's sibling jibing at Sokka staring at Yue 🤣
I love these little sibling moments - they're just so cute
And Sokka now hard-core staring at the ground instead of at Yue because Katara said he looked like a weirdo doing that 😅
Zhao's overacting at how pissed he is 🤣
Then his 'omg I can yes and this. I can SO yes and this!' as Iroh tells him what he 'think's happened
Oooohhh Iroh's understated insults at Zhao's qualifications
And Zhao's comeback about no record of failure unlike Iroh😐 bitch, that still doesn't make you qualified!
More Azulaaa!!!!
I really love this added storyline to see exactly why Azula is the way she is
It's great to see that her place as next-in-line isn't a shoe-in here - she's desperate to show her father that 'she's the one' and will do anything to get there
Sokka's heart eyes 😍
Stewed sea prunes 😭😭😭
"It tastes like home" 😢
I like this intro to Pakku - like with Sokka, they're not doing a comical level of sexism, they're making it more realistic
YUE IS A BEEENNDDEERR!!!!!!
Also, using it for the most important things: dessert
Sokka's absolutely abysmal (bet very endearing) interaction attempts with Yue 😅
Her little fake gasps as he keeps saying the wrong thing, but smiling because she knows what he means, she's just teasing him 🥺 incredibly adorable
Love that they have a conversation that actually has substance!
Don't hate me, but in the cartoon, they never had a substantive conversation ONCE. It was just Sokka flirting, Yue giggling, then Yue freaking out and running away - rinse and repeat like, 5 times in the course of 3 episodes.
Omg Hahn isn't a dick!!!
I like the more mature tone they've taken in the live action - they can have jokes, but for serious topics like…idk, a battle against the Northern Water Tribe being genocided, they make the characters take it seriously
GOOOOODDDD the adults expecting Aang to be a master strategist and offensive weapon!!
This actually makes sense that they'd believe he could do it - Aang is the culmination of all the past Avatars, so they'd assume he has all their knowledge and power.
The poor kid just got out of his iceberg, though!!!
"Airbending is primarily a defensive discipline"
You tell them, Aang!!
"But you're not JUST an airbender" :( don't bring logic and reality into this, Arnook
"I did it with the help of my friends 😊"  sweet baby Aang
And here's Pakku, telling Aang what a lot of watchers were frustrated about this season: uuhh maybe you should have been focused on your training
While that's a legit comment, I think the live-action showed why Aang didn't pretty well
Love love LOVE that we're introduced to healing with respect rather than the distain it was shown in the animated series
Healing is a wonderful and beautiful skill and I'm glad we got to see Katara interested in it (and it being used) rather than Katara sadly moping into the igloo filled with children learning healing
Sometimes, when people try to make things less sexist, they end up making it more-so. I think that happened with the animated series where healing was actually put up in conflict with combat - where combat was clearly shown as the 'better' skill and healing was 'stupid and bad, we don’t want to do that'. The live-action showed that healing is an important and powerful skill, the only issue comes when you aren't ALLOWED to do anything else. Healing itself isn't the issue, the fact the women are kept from combat IS the issue.
Nice Hahn and Sokka fishing for info about Yue
Avatar Kuruk RESPECT!!!!
LOVE Yue getting more character here!
She can pop into the spirit world! It makes so much sense with her having part of the moon spirit inside her!
The live action fleshed her out soooo well!
Poor Sokka not understanding AT ALL why someone would want to go to the Spirit World for fun
"Don't do that. Don't make it less than what it is"
Such an important message for EVERYONE. You don’t have to have the most tragic of backstories for your trauma to be important. This isn't the oppression olympics - we aren't doing the whole 'well someone else has it worse so you can't complain' bullshit.
Everyone has hurt in their lives and everyone deserves to have their hurt taken seriously and healed. It isn't 'strength' to pretend it's nothing - it's strength to face it and accept that it was important, not something to shove under the rug
Yue reminding Sokka about what makes him special - his care for his friends! He's not a selfish guy - just because he wasn't the best leader or warrior when he was 13 doesn't mean he has nothing to offer the world
"Hahn is everything a girl could want. But he is not the boy of my dreams" 😭😭😭
"Being the Avatar means being the one who bears the burden: alone."
The thing is: like in the animated version, this advice MAKES SENSE! But it's how you USE the advice that makes the difference
No, you can't put all the weight of responsibility on your friends, but neither can you do it without any help - or without caring for others. It's very much advice coming from pain: all the Avatars got hurt because they DIDN'T abandon their friends and so they're giving a skewed version of the advice onto Aang to try to spare him the pain they went through.
It's Aang's job to find the balance
Sokka's fish carving that Yue thinks is a bear 😭😭😭
I wanna see it, props department!!!!
Yeess!! Katara's first confrontation with Pakku!
I like how she still tries to lead with diplomacy, making her case, and Pakku has 'reasonable' excuses not to let her fight
Instead of him being cartoonishly sexist, he's much more realistic giving 'logical' reasons for Katara not to be in combat, but she stands up anyways because she knows it's wrong.
I can see how some might find Aang not wanting Katara to fight to be jarring, but this is in line with the animated series
When they're going into particularly dangerous missions, Aang does have a tendency to try to do it himself and tell Katara to sit this one out - he does it in The Winter Solstice: Part 2.
He's just been told a past life's love was killed because he didn't keep her out of his fight, he has no idea how he's going to win this battle, and he's realizing that he does see Katara as someone incredibly important to him. It's in line with who Aang is to try to keep her safe and away from the battle
Zhao coming up with nicknames for himself 😑
Iroh straight up calling Fire Nation 'info' propaganda!!
While some people could see this as 'treason', when you're in positions of power in high-control groups, you KNOW it's propaganda - you HELP CREATE the lies and when people are going to do something stupid (like attack the North without a solid plan), you let them know that they're being stupid if they're going to make battle plans based on the lies you've helped spread.
Zhao and his dumb bitch destiny 🙄 he's such a great villain - he's one who's bought into his own lies
"The plan is to prove my father wasn't wrong to trust me with this mission. The plan is to go in and capture the Avatar once and for all. The PLAN is to reclaim what is rightfully MINE!! 😤" - "So, no plan? 😐" - "I'm working on it uncle 🥺"
This exchange = gold. Pure gold.
"It's almost as if he's working for someone else - someone much smarter"
WOOOOWWW Iroh, throw that shade a little more, why don't ya 🤣
Though I LOVE that they're giving Azula her brainy due - she's smart and she's the one not to be underestimated.
AZULA'S LIGHTNING!!!!!!!
Love how she stood up to her father, but because she was able to 'prove' her strength, he respected it rather than punished it
"Set me loose" AAAAHHHHHHH
SUPPORTIVE BROTHER SOKKA!!!
Love how matter of fact Katara is "I'm going to challenge Pakku to fight" - just like that. She's decided, so it's going to happen.
Sokka admitting Katara was right 😭😭😭😭😭
"Who's talking sense? What I'm trying to say is: go kick his ass" FUCK YEAH THAT'S RIGHT!!!!
Aang trying to go forward and help Katara, but Sokka holds him back
Love the sibling solidarity!!
The fight is almost beat for beat the one from the animated series!!!
I love that the live action knew exactly which sequences to put in almost 1-1 from the animated - this fight being one of them
"Is that all you got?!?!" FUCK YEAH!!
"They'll just say I lost" "Did you?"
The fact that it wasn't just Pakku's opinion that would change everything - Katara's actions inspired everyone else, even if Pakku didn't want to change his decision.
Change isn't made by changing one man's mind - it's about standing up to them and inspiring others (like in the Imprisoned storyline) to stand up too
Even inspiring Aang to realize that the conclusion the other Avatars came to from their pain was wrong - that Katara was right and that EVERYONE gets to choose whether to fight or not for themselves
Avatars aren't the only ones who worry about protecting people - it's a human, family thing, not just a mystical force of balance thing
Only Aang can write his own story - not anyone else.
This is a great through-line for the whole series where everyone has expectations put on them and they have to decide themselves who they want to be
Don't eat the sooty snow, Momo!!!!!
"Ok, time to fight"
I like that we end on the fire nation ships arriving: next episode is going to be THE BATTLE

do you think life and death exist as higher beings in your au? also, is there any character you think doesn't truly appreciate the life they have?
I do think they're not completely safe from death, though in their case it's primarily other gods which can be a threat. Similarly, they can also create life, whether by natural means (especially if they have physical forms capable of it, for example Grimm being able to bear offspring), or through magic.
This is actually something I was thinking about recently, so forgive me for going slightly off topic. I like the idea that the capability of creating or manipulating life is something that links the known essences together. The nightmare essence is an obvious case looking at Grimm, he's trapped in his realm so he uses it to create his form using what can best be summed up as "magic genetics". He modifies and writes it as if it was a DNA sequence almost. And I think this sort of ability would also be possible with other essences. In fact, both him and The Radiance were created through similar means by their father, and The Radiance continued it by creating the Moth Tribe from her dream essence.
Then there is soul (which I also call the soul essence in my AU to keep it consistent), and I do like the idea of Vyrm also using this kind of spell when he reduced his form. It makes sense, he changed his anatomy with this kind of "magic genome modification" ability, and then passed the modified traits onto his children, as if they were completely replaced. At the same time, traits which did not change his anatomy, such as his leucism, were left unmodified, and assuming he still carries a gene for the normal wyrm coloration (brown), it means that some of his children may not be leucistic. Asta, for instance, has brown fur patterns which are meant to be the brown wyrm colors. Though in Vyrm's case, since he wasn't born a god, I think it makes sense that the spell would use so much energy that he wouldn't be really able to modify it again while he still used soul magic.
This also ties nicely into White Lady's ability to create plant life, which I imagine works somewhat similarly. Unlike Vyrm, she is also capable of doing so consistently, though I'm sure there's also a big difference between creating plant life and completely rewriting your body plan to be smaller and more manageable, so what Vyrm did was still very impressive.
This leaves void as the last one (I'm still undecided whether I want to consider lifeblood its own essence in the AU), but even then this still applies to some extent. Void is definitely a bit of an outlier compared to the other essences, so the ability does not work the same. Still, though, it is able to animate lifeless objects and even imitate living things and recreate a biological-esque form, such was the case with the vessels.
---
Sorry for the tangent, I hope it at least offers some kind of response. As for the second question, let me think. Perhaps Tiso? Let me explain. I think he's the type to take life for granted, he puts little effort into building relationships, making meaningful connections, or just doing something good with his life. Most of the time he appears in Dirtmouth to cause trouble and he always acts like a jerk. In a lot of ways he's like Zote but Zote was able to find a friend in Holly, and being accepted into the Vyrm family started to change his perception a little. Tiso doesn't have that, at least just yet. He's skilled at fighting, even if he did get cold feet at the colosseum and didn't fight. I haven't explored his character much yet but I do think he has the capability to really do something great and find satisfaction in his life, he just hasn't done anything in that direction yet and instead is just wasting it by being a nuisance.
I'm not sure if this is the right answer, I actually haven't thought about any of the characters from this angle (well, I did with Vyrm, but he very much appreciates the chance he was given so he wouldn't fit here). But hey, random Tiso mention I suppose hahah

Figured I'd introduce myself properly to this wonderful community! I am Ann (26). Primarily interested in exploring archetypes, symbols, and fairy tale elements plot-wise, as well as physical and mental health issues character-wise. I write fantasy and science fiction (and occasionally historical fiction).
About me:
Majored in Psychology and English with Creative Writing (English is my second language)
Writing is basically my lifeline, I get depressed if I don't do it
Infatuated with myths, legends, folklore—and history
Questionably obsessed with the mad genius trope [I blame Victor Frankenstein, Sherlock Holmes, and Gregory House for this]
In love with the sea and all things age of sail [I went for a swim during a black-clouded thunderstorm on a cold September afternoon once, that's how down bad I am]
Can't write a short story to save my life [you shall only find novels beyond this gate, traveler]
My WIPs:
Oh boy, I've got a lot of them, but I'll share the main ones briefly. [bonus, emojis for vibes lol]
The Sea Whisperer (finished, 122k words) 🌊⚓🌩️
Already have a post about this YA adventure fantasy (seek #The Sea Whisperer) and planning to add some more, but here's the premise once more:
The fishing village of Galacair has been the only home Earwyn’s ever known. Between the mysterious illness that plagues her and the villagers who consider her cursed, surviving gets harder with each dreary day. But there are whispers coming from the sea which ceaselessly beckon her, and an ominous vision of a calamity that haunts her dreams. Earwyn fears they could be a part of her illness too, and that madness has befallen her. The only one who seems to know something about it is Galacair’s lighthouse keeper, whose tower is as strange and remote as he is.
Wrote this story because I wanted to bring some awareness to PCOS syndrome and the difficulties of living with it. But also because of my aforementioned love for the sea, including tall ships, shanties, and magic.
I've been querying for this one for 6 months with no success. Likely to undergo new revisions/editing.
The King's Steward/The King's Embroiderer 🗡️❄️🔥
A loose retelling of a quite obscure Nenets fairy tale called Kotura, Lord of the Winds with a Skyrim-esque Scandinavian-inspired medieval setting. A sort of fire vs ice battle going on. Definitely in the YA range. Very likely to be a duology!
Aira Alderkvist knows she's destined to become the kingdom's best and most beloved embroiderer, in the court of the king. She met him once when she was a child, alone by the snow-clad woods, and no one believed her. But she will finally prove her skill and that her story was true at the upcoming obeisance.
In the capital city of Vallholm, Sorena Froradottir prepares to abandon her post as a steward imposed on her against her will, and flee. However, on the night of the king's obeisance where noblemen and commoners gather, jarl Ravnan Jarnsen unexpectedly usurps the throne. Sorena must decide between deserting the kingdom in the hands of a tyrant rumored to be using forbidden fire magic... or leave, and find a new life unburdened and free.
So far I have 18k words written on this and a detailed plan chapter by chapter, which I will hopefully stick to (doubtful).
To All the Royal Subjects in the Land (working title because this is too long and cringe?) (recently renamed The Cursed Prince)🍁🕸️🎭
This is basically a dream project for me, for I have always dreamed of writing fantasy comedy. Only, I played myself cause medieval-based comedy is hard as hell? Honestly, though, I absolutely love wracking my brain with it. You can't be a writer without being at least a little masochistic, I think.
This is an NA/Adult fantasy rom-com [Mrs Maisel meets Beauty and the Beast], and a gender-bent version of the Russian fairy tale The Princess Who Never Smiled, in which a clever traveling jestress who values her freedom above all faces a joyless Prince.
Soon after entering a kingdom where joy and laughter are forbidden, Sarai realizes she'll be forced to break a foul spell if she wants to leave. And she grudgingly agrees. But it promises to be no easy task when this withering kingdom is caught in endless autumn, the Prince's odd, mist-veiled castle seems to be crumbling each day, and his knights are ever-so eerily quiet.
Will likely share more about what this story features in other posts! This is currently sitting at 22.5k words.
Sentinel Chronicles Series 🚀🌌✨
This one is probably closest to my heart. My first project ever [started writing this series 7 years ago], and have a detailed plan for 5 books in total, with more spin-offs for a side character very likely to appear later.
The first book [Transcendence] is finished at 96k words, and the second is written halfway. Transcendence is Star Trek meets House MD adult science fiction. It's a space adventure with aspects of science mixed with philosophical elements and a dash of humor. I have a very found-family-centered theme here with the crew. And a (very) slow-burn romance that would spread over the 5 books.
The story follows eccentric science genius Ashton Axolem as he attempts to take on scientific issues beyond his understanding with the help of Doctor Amelia Harper, who, like everyone else, is convinced mixing madness with science will never result in anything good. But her close encounter with Axolem leaves her questioning her understanding of both madness and goodness.
Will probably be blogging a lot about this one because I've had years to form it in my mind lol
Thanks for reading, that was a bit long! Hopefully, I set up some sort of tag system for all those WIPs soon.

miraculous heroes I want to see more of:
Luka/Viperion - doesn’t he know like miraculous martial arts now??? also I think his power is really interesting and should’ve been explored more. (I need more moments like when aspik confessed to ladybug and then rewinded lol)
JULEKA/PURPLE TIGRESS - her origin episode showed us how much depth her character actually has. I want to see her become more confident and grow into her new role as a hero. (the writers better not fuck up her development >:c) She has a lot of interesting dynamics with some of the other heroes that I’d like to explore while at least one of them is wearing the suit. Give me juleka and Luka being badass sibling superheroes without knowing and growing increasingly suspicious of each other being their sibling. Give me purple tigress being considering for civilian rose’s safety and pigella ensuring her that rose is okay. GIVE ME JULEKA LEARNING TO TRUST OTHERS🙏!!!
FELIX/ARGOS - even though Félix is friends with the miraculous team, I’d much rather have him do some detective work with Kagami to find the butterfly miraculous (primarily before the new Hawk moth debuts, but I guess he could try to find out Lila’s identity, too). Maybe max and lb could help out every once in a while. I don’t think he’s really a teamwork kind of guy, so it would be cool to get an episode or two focusing on his investigative work during the season 5-6 time gap.

Furthermore, I don't think any discussions on Lestat's intentions would be very meaningful at this point tbh. There are arguments to be made that if he could he would save Claudia too, but I don't think it's uncharitable to read that he never intended to save Claudia in the first place, considering the fact that he wanted to get rid of her and replace her with Antoinette in 1.07. Again, I don't think his intentions matter much, since Claudia is dead. He already made the choice.
I think it matters a lot. The show is primarily about the love story between Louis and Lestat, and a big part of that is also their grief over Claudia. So Lestat's intentions don't absolve him of what happened before Paris, for sure, and I think they'll explore his guilt over not saving Claudia no matter what his intentions were--but there's a pretty huge difference between him going through the play because it was his only chance to save Louis and him wanting to save Claudia if he could, and him only caring about Louis and ignoring an opportunity to also save Claudia or just not caring if she died. The first option doesn't mean he's great and everything's forgiven, but the second would make him even more unforgivable than before. The first allows the love story and fits more with what we saw in the reunion.
Side note...I'm also curious about whether we'll revisit mardi gras, since there are clearly parts of it we haven't seen and the writers have suggested we might go back to it, and whether we'll find out if Lestat actually did intend to kill Claudia. I think it's perfectly possible that he did intend to kill her and, like much else, regretted it by the time the trial happened and didn't want her to die either ("if you sentence THEM, you sentence me too"). But it's not 100% clear what his intentions are. Because what we see is Antoinette trying to force Claudia to drink some poisoned blood, and we know that poison can't kill a vampire. They're very clear on that. It can weaken/incapacitate them. So maybe Lestat would have killed an incapacitated Claudia. But I do think there's also a chance that he was trying to weaken her so that he could either leave her behind and take Louis and Antoinette with him, or maybe even take Claudia with them too but in a weakened state where she couldn't (in his mind) interfere with them. idk. That's all pure speculation on my part. But it's interesting what they show and tell us and what they don't.
But yeah for the story the show is telling, I think Lestat's intentions matter a lot.
Sorry I think when I initially wrote that I'd just seen people discussing the topic and using Lestat's intentions to absolve him of his past actions, which was annoying me and I think I wrote it addressing that in mind instead of talking about the storytelling of the show. Should have worded things better since I didn't want it to mean that his intentions does not matter within the show, my bad! My personal reading is similar to what you're saying here; I don't know what his plans were initially though I think if Lestat wanted to really kill Claudia he already had a lot of chances to do so, so I do think that his whole act with Antoinette was more about intimidating/exerting dominance and his goal was to incapaciate her in some way. That's just my take on it but I understand how it can be read differently since like you said, there are still parts we haven't seen.

Hey Curl man! Uh, apologies for the silence, other stuffs been happening on my end. Y’know how it is. Or, the overall- yeah.
Anyways… So, I’ve been thinking lately on the whole multiverse thing. Multiple timelines and all that jazz…How it seems a lot of us are from different realities and stuff. I find it interesting.
I’ll admit though, I’m a little saddened that we aren’t in the same universe. I’ll never actually see you in person. Hell, I’m sorta not entirely sure of my own existence. I mean, I definitely exist, that’s the bare minimum I’m doing but sometimes it feels like I’m in my own world and other times I’m a simple voice in your head? Not to get existential but it’s certainly an interesting experience. I definitely have my own life, but other times I feel extremely attuned to your mind. Especially when I first uh, started hearing or seeing you. Might be because I’m a fae and some weird shit can happen with that- I’m still not entirely sure how I got here, in your mind. To communicate like this. I don’t mind it, though. Some things are simply unknowable. …uh, but what I was sorta getting at, is I’m a little curious as to how different our universes are. Of course you’re in an entirely different time from the rest of us, that seems to be the most consistent thing among us, un, ‘voices’. but I’ve also noticed some things. If I’m to be correct your universe- planet, whatever has primarily humans running it? I’m… assuming we’re all from earth? Or most of us… um. But yeah, Your crew are all human and you appear surprised at anything but. I always sorta noticed this but especially when I recently have sharing more about what I look like to you. You seemed surpised at the deer half of me and the six eyes. But thats alright, a lot of people seem to be a bit, uh, unnerved? If that’s the correct term? by the eyes thing. Not very common, much less for cervitaurs or any ‘humanoid’ creatures.
…hah, that reminds me. I’ve been asked a few times if I am “all seeing”. Pfft… Imagine. I‘ve already seen quite a bit, I wouldn’t wanna see everything, y’know? Last thing I’d want, really. Besides, I think I’d need more than six eyes to see everything. But I think that’d just give me a headache. More eyes means more things to process. …’sides I don’t think being “all seeing” really correlates with having more than two eyes? Has More to do with magic methinks. But, uh, yeah…
Oh, right! Uh, tangent aside, I’m just curious about your world. And possibly everyone else’s here- I’d love to know more. We seem to have similar-ish like.. well, obviously language and some music. Like the odyssey and epic musical. Makes sense since it’s a more human-made thing. I’m also curious if i could like. ‘Show’ you mine? Or at least myself. I saw the few times Robin in particular showed you herself, I think. Where one time it Almost looked like a, uh.. live action thing. Could see her in real time kinda. Where she was dancing. Like a video? So, That was interesting. I wonder how I could do that. Though I’m not sure I would. I’m a bit camera shy. Well. I guess it wouldn’t be a camera, more of.. well, being perceived. That’s also scary. Haha. I know I don’t have to or anything I’m just uh. Curious how you would do that…..
Hm…
Well- regardless of that.. I’m curious. You don’t have to tell me everything about your world that’d. Be a very arduous task, to say the least. Just some basics maybe. I know you’ve discovered other planets and such and space travel is common for you, right? Or it’s just generally a more explored place. We Don’t really have that where I am. Space is largely unknown along with the depths of the ocean (not that I’d want to know what’s in there. I’m staying on land thank you very much.) but I’ve always been mildly curious about space. I like the stars and constellations. Galaxies are gorgeous.
Do you have gods in your universe? We have some, but they’re just. More of forces of nature than anything. At least the ones I’ve heard of. Though I’m fairly certain I saw one once, I think it might’ve been Death. Or general grim reaper. Not uh. Not your death. haha… or, at least i don’t think so? It just was a brief brush with it, I dunno. Could have just been a shadow or my vision being fucked. I uh. Was sorta in shock at that moment cuz I was uh… ahem. Hm. …… um, Suddenly I feel like I should not be talking about this particular experience. Uh, don’t worry about it. It was a while ago. Sorry. Uh…
…..
Oh! Right I was gonna show you my cats- I completely forgot about that, my bad. Let me find some pictures……. Uh… ok, there we go!
The grey one is Mercury and the brown one is Ash!!!! They have that high energy/low energy dynamic. Mercury is an absolute menace do not let that cute little face fool you. He's such a little shit but we love him anyway. Ash is more chill and is a sweetheart and is friendly to everyone but really needs to learn how to unsheathe his claws, I swear… Theres a lotta pictures where he’s sleeping which isn’t inaccurate. He is a sleepy fella. Some people in my family likes calling them Speedy and Loaf, haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
they’re such a silly duo they often unintentionally like.. mirror each other and I always think of yin and yang. If that’s a thing in your universe.

Hey, Ari! All good, mate.
It certainly is fascinating. I've never heard of someone connecting to other universes before.
Yeah, I get what you mean. That part's unfortunate. Still, I'm glad for what we can get. Huh... I'm not sure I understand? Ah— So you are nonhuman, then. I was wondering about that. I don't mind it either. It really baffles me, how you lot ended up here, but mostly I'm just glad it happened.
Hm? Yeah, no, Earth and all the colonies are human-run. There aren't, uh, fae. I wouldn't say we wholly control Earth. There's plenty of animals. But as far as society goes? Just us. So, wait, is your world more diverse there? Obviously, if you're not human, but— What else is there, if you don't mind me asking?
Hey, it's five more than me! Wait, so magic's just... a thing, for you lot??
It looked like a video to you? Huh. Well, if you do figure it out, I'd be happy to see you, but there's no pressure whatsoever.
Right! We've got humans living all over the galaxy by now. The ocean either, huh? Not my area of expertise... They are, huh? I'll admit working for Pony Express has abated my love of space a bit, but it's still... It's amazing, yeah? Just how much is out there? Hell, humans have never left the damn Milky Way, even in my universe. There's so much more.
Not that I know of. I mean, there's Death, but I don't believe she considers herself that way. I suppose the singular "God" could be real, or any given gods from any religion, or maybe some sort of God that no humans have recognized—? It's all something of a mystery. ...That sounds— Is your Death as kind as ours? You can talk about it if you want. I don't mind. Seems like it upsets you. You know you can come to me if you need.
...
Cats? Yes! Thank you.
Is Mercury named for the planet, the element, or the, uh, god? Speedy and Loaf, hah. Adorable... Thank you for these. Give them headpats for me, please?
I know what Yin and Yang are, yeah. That really is interesting. Thank you so much for the pictures. Really brightens my mind.

From the another list of fic writer ask game:
1; 2; 4; 5; 10; 20; 30
Heheheh :)
1: What is the crackiest* thing you’ve ever written? (*I mean this with great affection)
As I reflect on it, I think my first fic (which is no longer available on any platform, plus my dumbass deleted it) was kinda cracky in terms of characterizations lmfao. It was primarily a Rosemmett fic set 450years in the future where they essentially break up then make up lmfao.
Recently, it is a tie between me and @holy3cake Hairspray AU, my TLK HS Dramedy AU, and my Brooklyn99 AU. And my valhalla drabbles. Oh and Mamma Mia AU. Lmfao. However, they are not technically all ~written~ yet. More so vaguely developed ideas with some writing. So I guess they are more-so my crackiest ~concepts~.
2:  Has writing a fic ever changed your opinion of a character?
Oh fuck yeah. I've been exploring Aelflaed a lot more. I tend to write her spoiled and air-headed from Stiorra's perspective. But, I'm also really trying hard not to put down other female's in my fics. So in doing that - I've started to uncover her motivations. Her back story. And in reality, Aelflaed has quite a tragic story. She has become almost a foil for Stiorra in that she gets used and abused like a pawn.
4: Have you ever written a fic inspired by a tumblr post?
Yes. I get heavy inspo from writing prompts and all kinds of posts all the time.
5:How do you know when you’re finished writing a fic? At what point do you call it done?
The arc feels complete. As I've returned to writing more confidently in the past year, I've really been trying to make sure I have an entire fic planned before writing. I'm also trying my best to at least fully WRITE the fic before any major editing or posting, which helps me see what might be missing narratively. So I guess I know I'm done writing once the story feels tied into a bow? Idk how to explain it other than I just know lol.
10: What’s a phrase you catch yourself using in multiple fics, not necessarily on purpose?
Uh....I don't think there is necessarily a specific phrase. I'm trying to break my habit of epithets. And I use a lot of prepositons/adverbs to start sentences lmfao. I think rather than a phrase, it's repetitive sentence structure?? Formulas for certain types of sequences?
20: What’s the story behind your pen name?
Pen name on FF.net was/is lovewriting12345. I made it when I was 13/14. Can't not remember why other than - 1. I loved/love writing 2. easy to remember 3. anonymous lmfao. So when I made an A03 account two years ago finally, I just decided to keep it for consistency in case I ever transferred my fics from ff.net to AO3.
30: Finish this sentence with your fandom’s variation(s): No beta, we die like _________
Okay I actually have no idea what this is for TLK. We should make one though. Cause I should tag all my fics with it seeing as I don't use a beta reader and probably should lmfao.

FLIP FLOP: I want to know what Wades inner thoughts and reaction was to Peter discovering the “rag” in Chapter 14.
EVIL TWIN: that works for me
PROCESSING: two to the chest one to the heart
FLIP FLOP: I want to know what Wades inner thoughts and reaction was to Peter discovering the “rag” in Chapter 14. (send me a scene from one of my fics and I’ll describe or write it from another character’s POV!)
FUCK FUCK SHIT SHIT FUCK SHIT SHIT FUCK -
EVIL TWIN: that works for me (end me a fic or scene and I’ll give you the unhappy ending version of it!)
It's funny you picked this one because this was actually planned to end badly. Or at least, I couldn't figure out how to end it in a way that wasn't unhappy. I think originally I planned for Peter's identity to actually be revealed and that instead of Wade just intuitively knowing that Peter was hiding something from him, he assumed that Peter was just using him for some quick, meaningless sex. (and felt some type of way about it,) I think I was planning on Wade finding out from the identity reveal that Peter had been going through something else that night, but by that time it's impossible to put the rabbit back in the hat. there was a much more tentative, unsure reunion scene with a very ambiguous ending on what's going to happen between them/Spider-Man in general. kind of a downer, honestly!
To everyone's surprise (including mine!) Wade just kills the guy. I always get comments trying to make Peter "complicit" in Wade killing that guy (he had to have known! he was practically asking for it! he totally *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* wanted it to happen) and I just want to say. That's wrong! There's no way! Peter really had no idea, and honestly, if he did that would be so against his character and everything he stands for as a person...? Peter really did trust that Wade was going to respect his most important moral tenant. Wrong! Love actually makes you do crazy things. Wade's crazy thing is killing people for a guy who hates murder, and Peter's is trusting Wade to uphold his personal brand of morality. Ultimately, I do think it works better with a happy ending, also. I actually put off finishing it for MONTHS because the ending I had planned was just so depressing. Once I realized a better way to end it, I think I finished it in a couple of days.
PROCESSING: two to the chest one to the heart (pick a fic and I’ll tell you what it was like to write it!)
Uh, frustrating? I had a lot of ideas for Ellie, but whenever I actually put them on paper, they fell short of what I had planned. It was supposed to be a 15 chapter work, primarily centered around Ellie's powers/her relationship with Wade + a problematic and kind of shitty situationship Peter just trying to maintain his no-strings attached booty call who inconveniently decided to reveal a hidden daughter Peter absolutely cannot stand. I really dislike Ellie/Wade/Peter as a really sweet and easy family dynamic, and this work was me exploring what I felt was a more accurate canon portrayal of people who all want something different/are used to be the highest priority in Wade's life.
It's too hard to write though, pisses me off whenever I try to pick it up again so I guess I'll probably never finish it and be upset because iI hate having unfinished works just rotting on my profile. I think it was the least fun to write out of all my works, mostly because I don't like playing fast and loose with characters without something grounding them and a young adult Ellie is mostly based on her (much more interesting than fanon btw) comic appearances of her child and matured adult self. When it came to write someone who exists between them there were just way too many variables. Who is she! What does she want? Why does she want it? I don't think I ever really figured out enough of the answers to write her well. Which is too bad, because I'm a huge Ellie fan and I have never read a fic that writes her well/in line with her comic self and wanted to have a crack at it. Maybe someday I'll figure it out.
