The Iceman (1984) solo released the middle of the Defenders run also repeatedly discusses this. Bobby visits his parents for a family reunion (with his one decent cousin, Mary), and he acknowledges that he can’t be who his parents want him to be. Likewise, his parents don’t like who he is. This leaves him with very mixed emotions about his own identity. Hint hint.

Bobby first appears in the Uncanny X-Men series, as one of the original five members. Throughout this run, he has a number of moments that come off a little… shippable, especially considering that he later comes out as gay. Reading all of Bobby’s scenes under this lens explains a lot about his relationships with Hank McCoy/Beast and Warren Worthington III/Angel. Of course, back then, Bobby’s main role was playing an icy Johnny Storm (which is a whole nother layer of mutual queer-coding I won’t get into yet), so he didn’t have a solid character arc.

i agree with this, I’m always disappointed in fics how bucky just turns “back to normal eventually” and steve barely struggles with the healing process and their relationship is great… it all just seems a little idealistic

honestly, while I like the ship just fine, I think Stucky would be more compelling if it just didn’t work out in the 21st century because both of them now have this idealized and pedestalized version of the other (Bucky representing the life Steve wants to but can’t go back to, Steve representing Bucky’s freedom and ties to his humanity). I just think it’s better if they try to go back to normal, but are unable to due to the ways they’ve changed and their inability to see each other as people

Grown Ass Yaoi 🤝 old man yaoi

while I don’t agree with that referring to men in their 30s-early 40s as “old man yaoi”, I UNDERSTAND why many people who primarily consume honest-to-goodness BL manga are quicker to call it that, because there is just such poor representation for men that aren’t hairless dehydrated 20-something twunks. They’re wrong, but I get why it happens.

I also understand that “middle-aged yaoi” isn’t as fun to say as “old man yaoi”, even when it’s more technically accurate.

So I would like to propose new vocabulary: Grown Ass Yaoi. yaoi that’s grown ass men. they’re not old but they’re not young adults either. you get me? Grown Ass Yaoi
