I have a lil' theory about why Jacob is worried we'll dislike Louis at the end of this season (S2 discussion spoiler warning)

I think we're going to discover Claudia was the one warning Louis about the Théâtre coven, not the other way around

Louis won't listen to her fears about the coven or Armand, leading to her death just as it happened in the books

Then after Claudia is dead and gone and he is guilt-stricken in the aftermath, he has Armand alter his memories of the event

(Louis may or may not have known of Armand's involvement in her killing. Or at the least, he wasn't aware of the extent of it)

Currently in the show, Santiago is made out to be Claudia's Machiavellian murderer, and I see two possible reasons why:

1) being, Armand has painted Santiago as the villain to absolve himself of the blame

and 2) Louis, some time after Claudia's death / murder, aware as he is in the books that Armand led the charge against her, asks Armand to make him remember a different version of events

(given Jacob is worried how fans will feel about Louis post-s2, my money is on the latter)

In the book, Claudia (to my memory) was the one who was cautious about the Paris coven. She disliked how they went about what they did, the performance of it all. She didn't trust them at all

Just like Louis feels in the show

In the book, it was Louis who wanted to remain in Paris. Louis who didn't believe Armand or the coven were a danger to them. He was too intrigued, enamored even

whenever i doodle leb i tend to give her slight eye bags, like she's quite the night owl despite how early she presumably has to wake up for her nun duties. whether that's because she has to stay up late to help with church matters, or just procrastinates sleeping because she feels like nighttime is one of the few moments she truly gets to herself, i imagine she just developed sleep issues from that in general

It's so funny to me when people call Shen Qingqiu mean for the way he acts towards Shang Qinghua, or act as though Shang Qinghua is genuinely hurt and crying himself to sleep over that treatment. Shang Qinghua is SUCH a goddamn weirdo. He's a twink. He's 70 years old. He has no guilty conscience. He doesn't view anyone or anything around him as real. In part 3 of the Airplane Extras, when Binghe has Shen Qingqiu imprisoned in his palace, Shang Qinghua quite literally says that if he were in charge of the situation ("could still control the current Bing-ge with his pen") that he would have made Binghe "defile Shen Qingqiu hundreds of times." He adds detail that I'll spare you in this post. He wrote a novel where like every character was supposed to be gay, including his literal dream man, and then he calls straight people "normal" people. His narration is like a fever dream, in the way he views the world and how he understands/processes it. He's a funny little guy who is busy with way more important things. I promise you he does not care - and if anything, finds it actively amusing - that his most loyal hater who is literally 50 years younger than him is snarky with him sometimes. It's what he deserves tbh

I just had a big brain™ moment in regards of the approach of AUs for Jinhsi, which, at the same time, might end with the procrastination because many of the things she does would have great implications in other series. Depending on how accepting or not the series in question is, I'll make 2 AU options. One of them will be a more unhinged version that is closer to a 1:1 to what she is in her own canon in the series of choice, and another one that will be tamer. Before any interaction takes place in any AU version, I'll make sure to ask what you peeps prefer as I don't wish to impose something that might be too grand in a setting where she doesn't belong (again, depending on the other setting).

it’s really frustrating to see people continue to act like from games have no story. like if that style of storytelling isn’t to your taste & you don’t care, there’s nothing wrong with that, but claiming it doesn’t count as a “real” narrative is laughable and honestly a self report

i know this isn’t a new thing by any means—in my case, my first entry into the series was bloodborne and i was hearing people say the exact same kind of things about it back then. “plot what plot?” or “it’s just a bunch of cryptic nonsense randomly thrown together lmao classic from!” which i accepted at face value……. only to find once i started playing that it did in fact have quite a clear story with incredibly well-defined themes PLUS tons of lore to give flavor to the world and additional context to the story??? where i was having the enjoyment of experiencing a great story PLUS the fun of actively putting that story together piece by piece as i went through it???? imagine my shock.

and yes from’s storytelling is one of the main draws for me, it’s such a wonderful change of pace that fits the medium of interactive media so well!! there’s nothing inherently wrong with the more cinematic style of presentation, obviously. like…. my other main game interest for the past few years is a story that’s famous for having walls of cutscenes so long it pops up a box to warn you beforehand. but good god it’s really so refreshing to be given this intricate web of a story that unfolds & deepens the more you look at it, something that encourages you to engage with it at your own pace and come to your own conclusions. and it DOES take a ton of skill to write that way! i’m tired of people pretending it doesn’t!!!

the aspect of open-endedness is what makes these stories something we can come back to for years and years in the community as new things are uncovered and speculation evolves. every time i go looking into some rabbit hole with elden ring story/lore to see how others read it i’m astonished by how much thought went into constructing it. i love that feeling of someone’s analysis giving context to something i got a vibe for but wasn’t able to put into words! or seeing how someone’s unique perspective results in a completely different reading i never would have thought of! it is a feature not a bug!!!

I also got a bloody nose while waiting in line at macys and i was sniffling tryna get thru the transaction and sat on the bench holding tissue to my nose, blood on my face cause i had to hold my nose with my palm at one point and got it on my face while my mom went to find tissue or something and it made me so tired and dizzy i almost threw up and almost fell over in another store and ended my day with 15min left in the mall where in which i had to sit down and accept defeat

final review of rebirth uh i still dont like the 7 remake combat, it suffered less from second game in a set trilogy syndrome than i expected it to, graphical problems are really bad sometimes (on performance mode, the framerate of quality was too bad for me to even consider using it for more than 10 minutes) but generally ive seen way worse (within this franchise isnt that right that one city in ffxv) and also cait sith ok thats all goodnight
