it was fun! but sooooo bad. you dont get it it was TERRIBLE - not even in a "oh my god they dont even know what minecraft is" way but more in a "this is an insult to storytelling and writers everywhere" way. and im only kinda exaggerating /silly

like. the story was genuinely trying for a good spot in the minecraft speedrun leaderboards bc otherwise i cant comprehend WHY IN FUCK they were rushing that shit 😭😭 to the point that when the movie ended i turned to my mum going all "THAT WAS THE ENDING?????" bc i SWEAR i thought there was another half hour left. nope. they just rushed through the story

the whole thing there at the end with henry being all "oh no imma go back to the real world, im just not gonna let them take my creativity away!" was soooo shoehorned in, NOTHING in the fucking movie actually shows that henry came to that conclusion himself. garret wanting to go back also made no fucking sense to me???? like girllll wasnt he drowning in debts? why didnt he stay in the overworld like hellooooo???? y dónde está tu mentalidá 'e tiburón garbage man???????? like i genuinely dont know at what fucking point garret ever realized he had to be a better person - like okay. sure. he does admit that hes trash as a person and that hes a loser. it never really felt like he internalized any of that admission as motivation to become a better human though???????????? the movie just gave him the happy ending with none of the work done 😭😭😭

it really felt like the second they introduced steve that they wanted to go to the climactic final battle against the piglins. with absolutely none of the work done to like, earn that final battle?? ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE EMOTIONAL STUFF they were so focused on making each adventure scene fun that they forgot they wanted to give the moral lesson of staying true to yourself and not letting anyone take your creativity away, so they kinda just..... put it in there?? with none of the emotional labor of showing the characters journey through the problems of real life that would make such a lesson not just a fitting ending for the journey but also a necessary ending ever happening. whats up with that how did they do that

back to the characters - steve was actually funny and camp. no complaints there from me. OOOOOOOOO BUT THE WOMEN!!!! I HAVE SOOOOOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WOMEN more accurately, i have problems with the fact that theres a total of FOUR. FOUR (4) WOMEN IN THE MOVIE, WHERE 2 OF THEM DO JACKSHIT FOR THE STORY (despite being iconic natalie and dawn never stop being you i love you idc that a whole theater worth of misogynists boo'd you once they dont know what fun is), ONE OF THEM IS BOTH THE VILLAIN AND NOT EVEN HUMAN (ily malgosha youre sooooo funny. i hope u get to stab steve in the afterlife babygirl <3) AND THE LAST ONE IS RELEGATED TO THE B-PLOT (marlene youre insane. i hope you have crazy fun with your nitwit villager husband <33) LIKE WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THAT????? HELLO????????????? genuinely sad. genuinely angering. they were all my favorites and if i see any one of you people calling them names or insulting them in any way ill kill you on sight <33 they did no wrong and deserve the world. fuck everyone else in the movie i only need natalie dawn malgosha and marlene in this life <3333

like GRGRGRGRGRGRGRRG i wanted to rip someone's throat out when i saw natalie and dawn doing nothing in that final battle against the piglinssss 😭😭😭 i mean. natalie kinda just... stood there. and dawn called the wolf army which disappeared off screen in like 37 seconds. they got done so dirtyyyyyyyy :(((((( im really really sad cuz both of them are sooooo interesting as characters!!!!!!! dawn is an overworked woman who's managed to keep her joy and whimsy with her about life even through the tiring responsibilites of being an adult! and natalie is a young woman recently moved into a new town where she knows no one and has custody of her younger brother due to their mother not being physically present!!!!! they couldve done something interesting with that!!!!!!!! make them bond over the fear of messing up and having those who rely on you judge you for that!! make dawn share some of her struggles she went through when she was natalies age and give her wisdom and advice!!!! instead we got a convo that barely showed a fraction of who these two are and what we couldve ahd, and the women are gone for all the ACTUALLY PLOT RELEVANT parts of the story after that. what if i tore the throat out of the writer who decided that. what if i did that.

like. i thought i would hate dawn and natalie from the trailer. i thought theyd be obnoxious and annoying. the instead i fucking love them and i wish they couldve had more involvement in the search for the earth crystal instead of Being Forced Apart from the group by The Narrative. the trailer paints them horribly

uhhhh tldr: the movie was fun. the story was shit. justice for natalie and dawn. marlene stole every scene in the movie and now i want a sequel just to see natalie dawn and marlene again,,,,,,,,,,

i haven't watched the new episode bc god i rly don't fucking want to bruh lol.

to be so deadass, as a person w a strong sense of spirituality who also deals w hallucinations, lottie means the fucking world to me, dude. it is so difficult to navigate spirituality when u deal w hallucinations bc that line is So difficult to decipher. even more so under high stress from a traumatic event.

lottie is so refreshing bc she's so human. she's not treated as some horrible, irredeemable villain. she's not treated as a completely pure, otherwordly saint.

she's a human who has dealt w this shit, whether it is mental illness or spiritual or both, since she was a kid. & the wildnerness gave her the opportunity to finally connect with it in a way that she could make sense of. & she was believed & vindicated. of course she'd chase after feeling that way when her parents were treating her just like "oh, she's crazy" & sending her off to facilities for electroshock therapy.

obviously, she does some heinous shit. they all do. but, solely as a watcher who has dealt w that exact struggle of deciphering the lines between my delusions & hallucinations & actual spiritual experiences, she made me feel so seen in a way no other media ever has or probably ever will.

& im super fucking pissed we only got her as an adult for ONE season. one singular season. & it's the second season.

she's literally one of the most compelling aspects of the show bc she's so central to the dilemma of whether "the wilderness" is smth tangible even as smth supernatural or if it's just a case of trauma-induced delusions shared between them & they give her one fucking season then kill her at the start of the next.

idc to see the show w/out her. esp bc even the actress was caught off guard ??,,

Well since I have a few more hours of GMT posting where only my handful of fellow UK/Euro/Scandinavians will have to be annoyed by my nonsense, what a great time to talk about my silly little OCs!

So I have two sets because I have two stories in mind and since I like a large cast of characters who all love a fmc I cannot possibly get through them all in one post, so let me start with my fmcs and their general plot outline.

Emily Hart - a nurse in a fantasy-ish country. In this world, people either have arc-marks and thus a certain kind of magic, or they do not and thus have no magic (technically down the line they have magic to do with the spirit world but not relevant here). Those without marks are called blue wrens, named after a flightless type of bird. The country Emily lives in they don't really use their arc-marks. Most people don't ever activate them to find out what type of magic they have, and magic in general is used to drive innovation and create machines (her country is very much steampunk vibes). As such, she doesn't fully understand the animosity those in other places have for blue wrens.

War breaks out on the continent when one country's leader goes full genocidal maniac due to the fact that genetically, a child who has a blue wren parent is more likely to be a blue wren themselves. The story follows Emily as she first works in a hospital in her own country meeting people who have been injured in the war, then moves to a field hospital in an allied country. She winds up accompanying a team as a medic, getting captured, having her captors let her go, coming across a blue wren resistance near a country border, ending up in a POW camp herself and eventually being rescued during a liberation. It's very much a traumas of war story along with a story about her struggling to come to terms with the violence she has to enact and also building complicated relationships with both allies and enemies.

Birdie - my precious cinnamon roll. Little fat omega who was trafficked by the horrid woman running the children's home she was in when she perfumed at 12 and sold to something called the Alpha Excellence Lab (leaving behind 2 childhood friends that she was sure would be her pack and surprise they eventually are in it). This place creates something called Regent Alphas which are more dominant and can bark other alphas. They use Birdie as part of their process without the alphas ever knowing she is a prisoner. She tries to escape when she's younger but is betrayed and so badly punished that she doesn't try it again.

Skip a decade later and a new set of 4 alphas come in for training. Most of them are mean to her as they assume she works at the lab and is being paid to purr for them when they are hurt or to seem incredibly distressed when they are put in an arena to hunt her down as a training exercise. The trainer and the doctor also do not know Birdie is a prisoner, they think she works there as well. They all start to suspect something is very wrong when Birdie goes into heat. This is a generic omegaverse story with a bundle of angst, lots of having to grovel once the truth comes to light and an eventual big blended pack made up of gangsters, cops, a military veteran, a doctor and a pop star (6 males alphas, a male beta and a female beta). Birdie never becomes a badass, she stays a soft, kind, cry baby throughout and her pack adores her for it and never makes her feel bad about who she is.

i don’t know if this is gonna make sense but i feel like Wicked’s casting is bad for like. longevity. bc sure in the Movie Theater having the Movie Theater experience my ape brain goes oh! jeff goldblum! haha cool. then i exit the theater and turn on the soundtrack in the car. then i also listen to it the next day at home with earbuds. and maybe again the day after that in the shower with a speaker. and it’s like hmm. i don’t think seeing jeff goldblum as the wizard of oz is worth having mediocre moments in the soundtrack. that you should want me to listen to multiple times. “i thought he did fine!” fine? it’s. it’s Wicked. genuinely why on earth should i settle for “fine” ITS WICKED i feel like im going bananas.

Imo it's one of those things that is so cool in theory but SO easy to fuck up in practice fkfhdjdhsj. Are there interesting parallels and fun character moments through the ROOF with those two? absolutely. Will they get used to their fullest potential. Sadly, the answer is probably not. I ESPECIALLY hate how the ship often results in people treating Amy like shit. When people push her out of the way as either dumb stupid girl competition or flatten her to just be supportive and take shadow shopping or whatever it makes me want to start biting.
