My newest DnD character, Twentyfive! (full name 25883519) (Their shortened name is a reference to the enneagrams 2 and 5). They're a lawful good warforged marine fighter, looking for a new purpose after the end of the Great Reef War and hiding secrets from their past.
[Image ID: A digital drawing of a robotic humanoid made from bronze that is partially patined green. Their arms are oversized and they have glowing green lines on their skin, with matching glowing eyes and tubes down their neck and torso. They have a cloth-wrapped greatsword slung across their back. They have no nose, and their jaw is bulky and hinged. The name "25883519" is written on their arm in common, and they also have a glowing tattoo of a ship helm with a star in the middle. Next to them is a drawing of their greatsword, with a dull-colored steel blade and gold-colored handle. Their name is written in the top of the page. / End ID]
#art#oc#original character#dnd#dungeons and dragons#dnd art#dnd5e#playing them is so fun#can't wait for next session! I hope we don't all die because Twentyfive decided to go talk to a cleric#and then got scripted to go kill a hag for her#also they're literally 6'9 and 214lbs#so no dexterity for Twentyfive#I can't wait for their backstory to be revealed#not to brag but the dm and I were cooking#warforged

the first t2 interrogation is here! hopefully, it will help you understand their murders and backstories and what kind of people akio and aimi are better because.. this interrogation reveals a lot :)
as always, a reminder that you can send questions for interrogations and some of these questions were also sent by some of you, so thank you so much!
Q.001. What can you tell us about your parents?
Akio: They're very caring and patient with me. They deserve only the best for everything they have done for me.
Aimi: They're very nice, I love them a lot! They can be just a little bit.. What's the right word.. Basically, sometimes it felt like they didn't care about my feelings that much. But it was most likely just them being unintentionally insensitive.. I think.
Q.002. Did you hate your victim?
Akio: How many times I have to repeat it for you? I hated him. I hated him so much.
Aimi: Are we talking about the person that was killed only by me without any help? If so.. I think I started to hate him only a moment before I had murdered him. Saying that I hate him feels so weird, but I think it's time for me to finally be honest with myself.
Q.003. What is your biggest fear?
Akio: Not being good enough.
Aimi: Being left all alone.
Q.004. Would you commit the same crime again?
Akio: .. I don't know.
Aimi: I just couldn't let that person live. So yes, I think I'd still kill him even if I wasn't bullied.
Q.005. Tell us about your accomplice.
Akio: He was weird. But surprisingly charismatic. I think I got to know his true self only when I saw his reaction to seeing Chise's corpse.
Aimi: He was very kind and very caring, I loved spending time with him, he always tried to make every single day of my life as fun as possible! He was.. very overprotective though. That freak wouldn't let me live a normal life.
Q.006. Have you ever had a significant other?
Akio: Fine, if I say yes, will you finally leave me alone?
Aimi: Nope! I was always more interested in making friends, but I'd love to go on a date with someone.
Q.007. Is there anyone you hold in high esteem?
Akio: .. It used to be myself.
Aimi: I don't think so? Ah, I respect Akio-kun a lot, does that count?
Q.008. When do you wake up/go to bed?
Akio: Before Milgram, I woke up at 7 am and went to sleep at 1 or 2 am because of how much schoolwork I had. Now I can't fall asleep at all, so all of that doesn't matter anymore.
Aimi: I try to wake up as early as I can now, so that I can take care of Akio-kun. He barely gets any sleep now.. You will forgive him, right? And I usually go to bed at 10 or 11 pm.
Q.009. How do you feel about your classmates?
Akio: They were always anxious and stressed and under a lot of pressure because we all went to an elite school, so almost all my classmates were obsessed with their grades and being the best students in class. Arata and Chise were the only exceptions and maybe that's why my relationship with them was different from what I had with others.
Aimi: .. When I remember everything they said about me, I start feeling not so good, haha..
Q.010. What kind of person would you want your best friend to be?
Akio: Someone who can make me feel like a god even when I'm not doing well.
Aimi: Someone who never makes fun of me and never tries to take advantage of my weakness.
Q.011. Any complaints about being imprisoned?
Akio: .. Are you kidding me?
Aimi: I think you should do something about Maruyama-san. I don't feel safe with someone like her around.
Q.012. What do you hate the most?
Akio: Being underestimated.
Aimi: People who don't appreciate my kindness. I'm trying so hard to help you, so why do you keep pushing me away?
Q.013. Do you miss your family?
Akio: .. Yes.
Aimi: To be honest, I miss my dogs more, haha.. That's a bad thing to say, right? Like, I told you that I love all of them the last time we did this.
Q.014. What do you want from the guards?
Akio: Don't take Aimi away from me.
Aimi: Please take care of Akio-kun.
Q.015. How did you feel after you have committed your crime?
Akio: I ran away. I couldn't look my accomplice in the eyes after we were done.
Aimi: I felt like I've finally become free, even though I had to pay a high price for my freedom.
#HHHHHHH i can't wait to reveal more about akio and arata's relationship in s3 since akio's t3 mv is actually supposed to be more about that#also. yes akio calls everyone by their last names except people he likes or trusts like arata or aimi#but he still calls chise by his first name and guess what#it's not a mistake. he really is supposed to call him that and i've made it like that on purpose :)#aimi's backstory scares me. so much.#i'm not sure what kind of verdict she will get this time but tbh#i feel like s3 kinda guarantees her an innocent verdict? like she would most likely get voted guilty not bc of her crime-#but bc of her personality and behavior#aimi is against yurika innosweep 😔#also i got literal chills when i wrote their answers to the 14th question. they are so codependent maybe even more than 0104#✍️interrogations! ✍️#👑prisoner 001: miyagawa akio👑#🌸prisoner 002: hanasaki aimi🌸#milgram#milgram oc#milgram project#ocgram

T/////Eight story amounted to basically nothing so I guess I'm back here to the other stupid as shit game I give too many chances on a more full time basis again (minus still writing my As///u/////Lil////i fic I love that thing too much and people in my DMs are counting on me for more)
At least I'll always have my friend and her best ending

And her faggot

EDIT: Ok it was nonsensical and full of holes like swiss cheese but now that i've calmed down this was always a goofy silly dumb game that cares less about taking itself seriously as it does being cool and fun, so while im disappointed and im allowed to be disappointed, im not running away with my expectations on this like others have. Tekken is still fun and will always have a place in my heart. And I do appreciate receiving some things I've always wanted regardless of my upsets with their execution flaws. They were finally able to make me feel like my favorite characters have closure on some level regardless, and that has to be commended.
#devastated. i'm devastated. the one time i was hoping Bamco would give us a decently written feast without shitting the bed#on the one hand i'm a fool for thinking they'd ever not write utter nonsense on the other hand i did get a handful of things i wanted#and i'm ok w going back to not really taking it seriously but it feels like even when i got things i wanted or liked#the WAY they were given to me was so shit i almost wish i got nothing#also this game has the best Asuka ending for once but that's such a low bar- it's the only ending where she's finally happy#god it wasn't even a story it was a skeleton of a script with ten different ppl working in separate rooms only coming out sometimes#to keep Jin on track and even with him as lead he got half baked shit- ALSO JUN??? JUN??? THE WAY THEY DROPPED THE JUN BALL#THE WAY WE GOT NEW CHARACTERS BUT NONE WERE LEGIT EXPLAINED OR GIVEN BACKSTORY? aaaaaughgghghhghghggh#telling everyone here bc i can't put spoilers on my main dash rn since it's not officially out for all platforms yet the PS5 ppl got theirs#and they streamed/posted all the cutscenes and character episodes days early so i saw it on youtube bc im impatient#i know none of you here give a shit lmao#ALSO THE MAIN BRANCH OF THE ******** FAMILY BEING REVEALED AS WIPED OUT BUT ASUKA HAS NOTHING TO SAY ABT IT- HARADDAAAAAAA#it's a fun game to play as a fighting game but dear god anything else you're in the trenches THE TRENCHES#i'm still arguing w myself if i'm gonna buy it once the recent global strike for Palestine is over or if i wait for a steam sale#once again collecting the less than ten things i like abt something and mourning the rest#this is my asuka alt in the pic btw I'll always love asuka goofy or serious but damn girl... I'm so sorry#i liked the ending of T8 but how we got there is borderline nonsensical and contrived#and at the expense of consistent character depth for pretty much anyone#EDIT: YES IM DISAPPOINTED BUT- this has always been The Goofy Game and i accept that now and yes i got things i loved and i love them#this is a game that has never taken itself seriously before anything else- which isn't the same as a serious game dropping the ball ie. FF#so in the end i'm mixed! i have what i don't like and what i think was missed- but i like it for what it is and i LOVE Asuka's potential#i love that in this game Asuka is finally at some form of peace regardless of the holes in the execution

'Dulcissima' - Lucius Verus x Fem!Reader SMUT
dulcissima: Latin; my sweetest
A/N: My god. I saw Gladiator 2 yesterday, and this utter filth just came pouring out of me. A major shoutout to everyone who has BEEN writing for this character, I just had to contribute my little part. Reblogs and feedback are greatly appreciated!
Also take a shot every time I mention his big blue eyes and massive arms like hello I'm sorryyyy can you blame me!!! Also it starts off a bit shaky but trust me stick with it! I just can't not have some kind of backstory y'know
Word count: 3.3k
CONTENT WARNINGS: smut, breeding kink, brief size kink, cumplay, vague oral fixation, brief mentions of colonisation and injury
RATING: 18+. By clicking 'read more,' you are confirming that you are 18+
--------------------------------------------------------
Pressing the cloth against his skin made him wince, the muscles in his arm jump, and though you typically would not, you pulled it away.
“I’m sorry, but I must,” you said gently, and it occurred to him that nobody had treated him with such humanity and sweetness in such a long time. “It will be over soon.”
You continued to clean his wound as gently as possible, trying to ignore the heat emanating off his body simply due to your proximity. To distract him, you decided to make conversation. You were no stranger to what it felt like to be a slave. For your home to be destroyed, to be dehumanised in such a monstrous way.
“Hanno, where is your home?” you ask, as you continue to work.
“My home no longer exists,” he said with a level of defensiveness, eyes lowering to the floor. “Not as it once did.”
“My ancestral lineage hail from Aduatuci. My parents, my parents’ parents, have all been slaves. We do not know any different,” you said. “But I have dreams of a free Rome, one of hope. I have heard of it, and I know it can exist. If not for myself, then maybe for my future children.”
The lilt of hope in your voice softened his shoulders immediately, and he finally made eye contact with you.
“Numidia. Numidia was my home. I was taken as a slave as they took our land. I will not know peace until I see the world you speak of.” You nodded with understanding, carefully placing your hand on his knee. His demeanour was completely different to the survival instincts you witnessed in the stadium. He was kind, gentle.
“I believe we can fight for that kind of world,” you reassured.
Once you finished tending to him, you gathered your supplies and stood up to leave.
“May the Gods bless you, Hanno,” you said. He reached out to grab your hand as you turned to leave, a lightning bolt of electricity shooting through you. You turned back.
“Wait,” he said, letting your hand go. “Will you come and see me tonight? Please? I could do with some company.” The vulnerability in his bright eyes made your heart melt.
“Of course.”
--------------------------------------------------------
Somehow, yourself and Hanno developed a bond. It became a cycle. Each time he was forced into the arena, you watched with a pit in your stomach, tears welling in your eyes. Each time he was victorious, the relief that flooded through you was incomparable. Afterwards, you would tend to his wounds, talking about your hopes and dreams for the future. He would speak of his life back home, tell you all about his childhood and his father.
Each night, you would sneak into his cell to talk more. It had dawned on you that he was your only friend. The only person who had ever understood you.
One night after a horrifying battle in the arena, you snuck in to see him. Drawing your hood down, you nodded to the guard at the door who allowed you through. He had also become an ally to you both, closing the door behind you and moving away to give you some privacy.
Hanno, or Lucius, as he had recently revealed to you was his name by birth, was sitting with his hands clasped together, gazing thoughtfully at the floor, a crease between his brows. When he saw you, his leg ceased shaking and he stood up to embrace you. His strong arms engulfed you, and you immediately relaxed at the familiar feeling. The prospect of losing the familiarity between you was becoming more and more frightening to you. An air of heaviness clouded this particular visit. It felt different this time.
“I am so happy to see you,” he breathed out, pulling away, caressing your arm. Casual touches between you were comfortable and common, especially considering you were required to touch him all the time when tending to his injuries. And yet, every single time, a shiver ran down your spine. Likewise, every time he pulled away, you could feel yourself physically tense once again. He made you feel like you could breathe.
“I thought I was going to lose you,” you murmured, your bottom lip trembling, with what you weren’t entirely sure. It was like every time you saw him, your inhibitions were lowered more and more. You spoke without thinking, acted without speaking. It was dangerous.
“Oh now, dulcissima.” His hand caught at your chin, raising your head to look at him. Your heart immediately began racing rapidly, face flushing. The endearing term all the permission you finally needed, you gently cupped his face, gazing into his stark blue eyes, his long lashes. They stood out against the dirt on his face, the stained red blood smeared across his forehead. A shiver ran through you as his eyes flickered in pleasure.
“Han-“ you began. “Lucius,” you settled on for now. You could never decide what to call him. Either way, he was still the same. Strong, tender, solid, beautiful. Yours.
“I will always be yours, can you not see? This life and the next. You cannot lose me.”
Unable to come up with any eloquent answer, you decided actions were more powerful. As if your lips had a mind of their own, you raised up ever so slightly on your toes to kiss him, your lips slotting together perfectly. His kiss was soft and gentle as you tested out the feeling with one another, his hands moving to protectively cup the sides of your face, thumb stroking your cheek making you exhale through your nose. Your lips explored his, moving together in perfect harmony, coming up for air every few moments.
Your head was spinning with desire, everything else in the world fell away when he kissed you. His hands had moved into your hair, fingers threading through it, not quite pulling. Your hands seemed to have a mind of their own, running all over his bare back, sides and chest. The feeling of the hard muscle underneath your fingertips, especially when you could feel it jump with sensitivity, made you want to lick your wet tongue all over his body. You wanted, needed, to devour every inch of him.
Hanno’s kisses grew hungrier by the minute, hands massaging and tugging your hair now, pulling it free from its style. You moaned into his mouth, which made him pull away for a moment and press a finger to your lips.
“You must be quiet, dulcissima.” You fought the urge to buckle your knees at the sound of such a sweet term in his rough voice.
“I know,” you murmured against his finger, absentmindedly scratching your nails down his back as you spoke, revelling in the way his mouth opened slightly at the feeling, eyelashes fluttering. “I will be, I promise.”
“Do you?” he asked, finger now teasing at the entrance of your mouth. You nodded ever so slightly, taking his finger in your mouth, swirling it with your tongue. You closed your eyes, coating his finger in wetness, moving your mouth up and down exploringly.
“Mmmhmm,” you moaned as an answer around his finger. The way he was watching you with hooded eyes, bottom lip taken between his teeth, was making the wetness pooling between your thighs impossible to ignore. He gazed at you as if you hung the stars, as if you were a goddess he was worshipping.
You took your mouth off his finger with a pop, and he began to trace it down your throat slowly, leaving a trail of your own spit. You trembled under his touch, lifting your chin to allow him more access. He reached the swell of your breasts, continuing down between them. You pushed your garments down off your shoulders, arched your back to close the gap between you, chest heaving in desperation. You would feel pathetic if it was anybody else. But he made you feel so safe. You could completely be yourself, express your desires.
“My Lucius, my strong one, please,” you breathed, hungry hands now tugging at his hair. “I need you to take me. Make me forget everything. I want to only remember you.”
Without warning, he swept you up in his arms, a gasp escaping your lips, as he expertly laid you down, hovering above you. You took a moment to take him in; his pink, pillowy lips, tousled hair, scruff beard, shining eyes. Not even the midnight sky, nor a sunset, or a shimmering ocean, was so breathtaking.
“My love,” he scanned your face, causing your heart to skip a beat. “My love,” he repeated himself, beginning to kiss down your neck over your shoulder, across the top of your breasts, sucking and nibbling. Your entire body filled with goosebumps, and you briefly considered that you were not being nearly as quiet as you had hoped. It was so difficult when he was making you feel this overcome with ecstasy.
“I need to feel your skin on mine,” you whispered, tugging at his clothing. He lifted himself off you, standing before you. He removed his loincloth, tossing it aside, his erection standing before you. Your mouth watered as you took the sight of him in, face becoming impossibly hot. His manhood was proportionately large and thick, much like the rest of his broad, toned body. It made you feel so delicate in comparison. Various images flashed in your mind’s eye. A large, strong hand coming down hard on your ass. The other wrapped around your throat. His back muscles flexing as he pounded into you from behind, his hand over your mouth to keep you from screaming.
“You are so-“ you began to say, but couldn’t find the right words. Before you could finish your thought, he moved towards you again.
“Can I undress you?” he asked, hands moving steadily down your clothed body. You nodded vigorously.
“Please,” you squirmed, fluttering your lashes at your love. He motioned for you to sit up so he could pull your tunic off your head, placing it on the floor. You were left entirely bare, and if it were anybody else in front of you, you would feel self-conscious. But the way his fingertips gently stroked your sides, his big blue eyes bore into yours with care and understanding, made you feel like a goddess yourself.
“I want to worship you,” he began, covering his body with yours, mouth covering one of your breasts. “Lay you on an altar and pray over every single part of your body,” he murmured as he took your nipple in his mouth, swirling his tongue. You gasped, hands gripping his shoulders for stability.
“Tell me what else,” you whispered.
“Well,” he said between wet kisses over to your other breast. “Once I worshipped you, my goddess,” he said as he began to suck on your other nipple, tweaking the first with his fingers, making you arch your back. “I would then ravage you,” he said, not giving you a chance to respond except to moan into his mouth as he kissed you, the kiss all tongue and desperation. His beard was scratching at your delicate skin deliciously. You ached to feel this on your thighs.
You began to grind against his body as you kissed, attempting to relieve some frustration. You could feel his hardness pressing into your stomach, and it made your mouth water.
“Lucius,” you groaned into his mouth, perhaps a little too loudly.
Shhhhhh, he placed his hand over your mouth, tutting at you. He kept his hand there, his other one tracing a line down your stomach. Your entire body was shaking as you spread your legs apart, drops of wetness falling down your thighs.
“Quiet, my love,” he whispered, one singular finger finally, ever so gently, tracing your folds. Your eyes rolled into the back of your head, bucking up into his hand. You needed more.
He noticed his reaction, groaning to himself. He couldn’t help but give you what you wanted. He used two fingers to apply more pressure, running up and down your soaked folds, hitting your clit and making your body twitch each time. He watched in amazement as you writhed in both desperation and pleasure, guiding his hand with your bodily movements.
Something switched in you at that moment, and you pushed his hand off your mouth, flipping yourselves over so you were now hovering above him.
“I need you in my mouth, lest I die,” you said breathlessly. He looked amused at your dramatics, but you felt his cock twitch against you.
“We wouldn’t want that, would we?” he said, and you both chuckled. Wordlessly, you turned yourself around so your pussy was over his face, his cock standing proudly in front of you. It was throbbing, looking almost painful. It made you love him even more, that he wanted you this badly.
“So beautiful,” you murmured, using your thumb to swipe the precum dribbling out of his head, licking it curiously. His deep growl was animalistic, and you felt his nails digging into your ass as he took you in his mouth, devouring you just as he promised. Simultaneously, you moaned as you licked a stripe up the underside of him, spitting a generous amount before slowly taking him into your mouth.
Being unable to see him only made you feel closer, as you could feel his mouth reacting to what you were doing. At the same time, his suctioning and licking of your pulsing clit, licking up and down your folds, was making you groan against him, the reverberation contributing to his pleasure. You began to grind your hips against his face in rhythm with your head bobbing up and down, eyes fluttering open and closed in bliss. His beard scratching against your inner thighs was painfully delicious, even more so than your imagination. You could barely breathe with how fast you were taking him in your mouth, but you did not care.
When he took your clit between his teeth and gently tugged, you gasped in pleasure, making you gag. You pulled him out of your mouth, a line of spit following. You felt the vibrations of him laughing against you. You turned around so you were face-to-face again, your legs trembling.
“Did that feel good, my darling?” he asked, unable to help himself from drawing circles on your bundle of nerves with two fingers as he spoke.
“I-Oh-So-G-Good,” you choked out.
“Would you like me inside of you?” he asked, teasing your entrance with his fingers.
“Yes, please,” you begged. He wasted no time in flipping you over once again, using his strength to pull your legs up onto his broad shoulders, your ankles intertwining behind his neck.
“I am yours, yours, yours,” he repeated like a mantra. “Yours,” the last one came out with a groan, as he swiftly entered you halfway. Your breath was taken away in the best possible way, his thickness impossibly stretching you out.
“You’re so big,” you moaned, shaking your head, inadvertently clenching around him. He gritted his teeth.
“It feels so right. So right to be this close to you. I need you every day, every night, all the time,” he rambled, as he pushed all the way into you, bottoming out. You nodded rapidly in agreeance, finding it difficult to speak.
“Is that okay?” he asked, intertwining your fingers together above your head. You nodded again, licking your lips. Your mouth had gotten a little dry from hanging open in pleasure.
“I want you to fill me up like this forever,” you answered, tossing your head side to side deliriously. “I will always need you.”
Something flickered in Lucius’ eyes. He dropped one of your hands, instead pinning both of your wrists down with one hand. He used the other hand to draw circles on your clit, as he began to move inside you. Slowly, gently at first, but not for long.
Before you knew it, it felt as it he was going to split you apart. He was grunting with each thrust, your promises to keep quiet entirely forgotten. The rhythmic sound of your wetness as he moved in and out of you echoed throughout the cell, and it was quite possibly the most melodic sound he had ever heard. You could feel him deep within you, hitting your cervix which took your breath away each time.
Beads of sweat were forming on his forehead, the veins in his arms protruding out. You moved your hands so he was no longer holding your wrists down, and he complied immediately. You needed to touch him. With shaking hands, you ran your fingertips all over his chest and stomach, feeling the muscles flexing with each thrust. You worked your way up over his shoulders, up his neck and into his hair, then back down to his arms. You dug your nails into his biceps, surely leaving marks.
“Fill me up with your seed, dulcissime,” you echoed his sentiment from earlier. “Make me ripe with a child so that we may carry on a hopeful legacy for generations to come.”
He groaned, profanities escaping his mouth in a deep, guttural voice.
“Say that again,” he demanded, fingers still circling your swollen, aching clitoris.
You gripped his hair in your hands, pulling him close to whisper in his ear.
“Get me pregnant, dulcissime. I need your hot, sticky seed inside of me.”
This undid both of you. You reached for one another, mouths slotting together in harmony. You stifled your moans with kisses, as you felt him spill inside you and warm you up. The feeling sent you over the edge, as you pulled his hair even harder to steady yourself. A warmth flowered all the way from your sternum to your extremities, your pussy pulsing around him as you rode out the high. Your entire body felt like it was floating, spots clouding your vision.
“My love, my darling,” Hanno murmured, his stomach rising and falling rapidly as he tried to catch his breath. You kissed again, as he cupped your face gently.
Wordlessly, he gently, achingly, pulled himself from inside of you, and you both watched in awe as the point where your bodies met were no longer together. His seed was dribbling out of you, coating you and making you itch.
“Can I clean you up?” he asked gruffly, barely waiting for an answer as you sighed out, “God, yes,” as he moved down your body so his face was crowding between your thighs. He licked a swipe up you, making your entire body twitch with aftershock. You practically screamed, the overstimulation almost too much to handle. Almost. You shoved your fist into your mouth to stifle the noises.
You watched through hooded eyes as he licked up every drop of his own seed, grinding onto his face, chasing the pleasure. You were delirious, not a single thought in your mind beside Lucius. When he was finished, he wiped the corner of his mouth with his thumb, and you moaned out loud at the sight. He returned to kiss you once more, and you could taste the familiar taste on his tongue, making your stomach swoop with desire.
Pulling away for a moment, he rolled over onto his back, pulling you with him so you were folded into his side, leg draped over his, his large arms engulfing you. He pressed a gentle kiss to your sweaty temple, wildly juxtaposing his actions from mere moments ago.
He gazed down at you with those incredible eyes, sighing blissfully. He moved a piece of hair from your face as he spoke his next words.
“I hope you know I meant every word, dulcissima. I want to build a future with you, for you, for our children. I vow to always protect you.”
You pressed a sweet kiss to his lips.
“We will build our home together,” you replied. And for the first time, the future you imagined, a future full of hope and possibility, felt closer than ever before.

i think that kui portrayed kabru's mental health issues in a very interesting way, but it's what makes it subtle to some readers. the fact that he seems so functional to the readers, especially in the first few appearances, not to mention that a lot of his problems and symptoms are not obvious and can only be seen in additional materials, seems like an intended choice from the character writing perspective.
the way kui constructs his character centers around the idea of duality. he switches between two "faces" in the story constantly, he uses two speaking styles (and two pronouns indicating them), he's a tallman who lived with elves for a long time and carries both cultures, he's caught in the conflict between long-lived and short-lived races, he's constantly stuck between two choices in his inner conflicts (what to think of laios? should he prioritize preventing another tragedy or taking away power from long-lived races?), he's bisexual. kui also made him a gemini, yknow, a zodiac sign associated with twins and duality.
there's a certain theme in this and it does affect the way we interpret his personality and choices and it goes beyond text, it's metatextual too. it's a sway between what's hidden and what's shown to the readers about him.
the thing is, i think his mental health issues are meant to be downplayed and hidden, because it's true to his character. what do we notice about him in the main story and what's hidden? well, one of the first things we see is that he's not great at fighting monsters, he suffers from ptsd that makes him basically freeze up just from thinking about them. images of dead people turning into monsters, tearing each other apart and eating each other haunt him, making him feel ill from monster food. he downplays this a lot, hides it from other characters, straight-up lies about it, but at least readers got to see it.
with a keen eye you might notice that he doesn't eat enough food, almost never eats anything on-screen. he mentions that he's never cooked food in his life: wait, kabru, don't you live alone? in that sense "don't you wanna eat?" moment reveals two details of kabru's character at once: we got to see his aversion from monster food related to ptsd, but also his inability to notice his own hunger in general. he's strong and he almost always wears armor, but we know that he often dies in the dungeon. the armor hides that he's pretty scrawny for someone who fights physically, again, something that we can only notice after he takes off his armor (symbolism!).
funnily enough, here we have our first glance at this through additional materials: in the info page about the importance of calories and fat, kui mentions that kabru has lost a lot of weight since he started exploring the dungeon, because he died a lot. what it means is that he doesn't eat enough to cover the loss of weight. subtle, but clever detail.
speaking of him not knowing how to cook, this is another clever detail that hides bigger truth: kabru doesn't know how to do chores, he doesn't take proper care of himself. extra materials reveal to us that kabru lives in the basement, lacking light and clean air and he doesn't know how to clean his room or how to iron clothes and simply... never cared to learn? this is mostly omitted from the main story, even if it does have a place for it: for example, his journey with mithrun becomes infinitely more fascinating, when you know how little kabru cares about himself. but since those chapters are told through kabru's pov, he basically "hides" this from the reader, takes control of the narrative in the same way he tells a polished version of his tragic backstory.

he talks about mithrun's story like there's no connection, like he's not literally looking at the dark mirror of himself. and, ironically, he chooses to not be vulnerable in front of the readers just like young mithrun wouldn't. extra materials give us a glimpse again: when in the main story mithrun said "i can't fall asleep without spell or potion", in the extra comic (literally behind the scenes) kabru says "i use alcohol to help me fall asleep". there's a connection and kabru sees it, but he's not telling it to us. (and yes. there's evidence that kabru is an early-stage alcoholic. we can see bottles under his bed and what he says basically imply that he depends on alcohol: he's not using it for recreational purposes, he's using it as a substance to make himself sleepy and, probably, less anxious. when that dependence turns uncontrolled, it often leads to full-blown alcoholism).
bigger connection to mithrun is of course kabru's refusal to accept his own humanity, to see that he's alive, that he has his own needs and desires. he's suicidal in the same way: he can only see his goal, he doesn't care about his life, he only sees the value of his life in relation to that goal and he never think what's gonna happen to him after he reaches this goal (because he unconsciously believes that "the after" wouldn't happen to him). and he doesn't reflect on it, again, until he's met with a question "what do you want to do?". the way he doesn't see himself as alive is omitted again in the big portion of the story and only really comes up in the end, when he asks "what was the point of my survival?", in a basically joking moment.
but we can see it through the symbolism, through his connection to death in the story, through his eagerness to sacrifice his life for the idealistic goal in his mind. and of course, we can see it clearly through his mirror: there's a strong parallel between kabru almost committing double suicide while chasing his goals and mithrun literally getting himself killed while chasing his own.
what i'm trying to say, it's interesting that kabru uses his control of the narrative to hide his own vulnerability from the readers. maybe mithrun sees himself as leftovers and it's something cathartic for him to admit in the end, but kabru really doesn't want you to see that he feels the same way. that he's also "leftovers". but you see, they are standing together in that panel. as kabru continues to try shielding himself from your view, kui puts the mirror next to him, revealing what's hidden.

Nam-gyu and you were a couple for the last eight years. But after you decide you had enough of his anger issues, you leave him and try to be happy on your own. Oh, how naïve you are.
Author's note: Okay, everyone.😩 I know you're waiting for the next part of "Your girl" and trust me, I am, too! I'm sorry that I haven't come up with it yet, but I needed to get my mind off of it for a moment, because I don't want to just write anything and publish it like that - the story means too much to me. I can't publish it unless I'm happy with it, but I promise you, I'm working on it. Until then, I started to furiously hit the key board and this happened. Whatever this is, it is Part 1 of it and I'm doing a Part 2, I just don't know when yet. I love you! 🤍 Lana
Loving Nam-gyu wasn’t exactly the easiest thing in the world.
In fact, it was almost impossible on most days.
But there was a part of you, a thing, a quiet voice – something that needed to be reassured, that felt like maybe you were the problem.
There had been good days, hadn’t there? Your birthday and the way he woke you up with pancakes every year. Of course they turned out horrible and were barely edible. They were raw on the inside and somehow, he still managed to burn them. But he made them for you. The memory still made you smile, despite everything.
Then there was the day you had your big ballet performance. You had spent so many months rehearsing, trying to be perfect. You went all Natalie Portman on that performance. Since the moment you’d been told you got to play Odette, you were fire and flame, spending every waking moment trying to be everything you pictured in your head. It was hard, very hard even. But you had the great hope that, if maybe you did well enough, they would come.
Your family would come and watch. They’d finally show you that they did indeed love you, that you weren’t just a burden or an accident. They would come and they would be proud of you. Your father would set his work phone down, your mother her pills. They would be there. For you.
But of course, they didn’t. You should have known better. It was your own fault, hoping and praying for something that was never going to happen. You should have known.
And still, the moment the curtain lifted and you glanced along the rows and rows of people, you felt disappointed. But you didn’t feel disappointed like normal people would, no. It was you after all. You felt devastated. You felt all of your creativity leave your mind. Your body slowly forgot the choreography. Your eyes glistened with tears. And your life was over.
You had your own issues. He had his anger. You had your world endings.
That was until the door flew open after everyone was already seated, waiting for the show to begin. A few heads turned and your gaze quickly flashed towards the now open door, revealing the face of the mysterious newcomer. He was out of breath and his hair was a mess, his cheeks glowing red and the look in his eyes pleading.
It was Nam-gyu.
You had just had the greatest argument of your life so far, throwing around dishes and screaming your lungs out at each other. Not even twelve hours had passed since then, so you were more than sure that he wouldn’t come. After all, he was the least reliable person you knew, alongside your family. And that fight had been particularly bad. You actually didn’t expect to ever see him again.
But there he was, his appearance disheveled and his eyes pleading with you. Pleading with you to forgive him, pleading with you to dance.
Dance.
You remembered the way you felt. The way your disappointment suddenly turned into something different, something hopeful and warm.
Something good.
He was good.
He was yours.
And you were his.
In that moment, there was nothing else. Everything around you faded into a dark cloud and all you could focus on was him and the way he stood in the middle of the audience, staring up at you. The world was quiet and everything smelled like flowers. The perfection you were striving for was suddenly there and it had nothing to do with your performance.
It was a slow dance, slow and sensual, between your souls.
Until suddenly the music started and your body remembered the movements again.
And you were indeed perfect.
Unfortunately though it wasn’t always like that. Most of the time, he was simply complicated. When he wasn’t drugged out of his mind, he was angry. Not at all the time – but easily. All you had to do was say the wrong thing and he’d explode. And you’d explode right back, right into his face.
“I fucking hate you!”
“Shut the fuck up, you dumb slut!”
“Who are you calling a slut?! You son a bitch!”
“Say that again!”
It always ended the same way. You sobbing on the floor, him slamming the door shut and disappearing. That were the good fights.
The bad ones were different. You couldn’t count the times you had been forced to take shelter in the bathroom, quickly locking the door, too afraid to let him even close to you. Of course you knew how to fight back. You didn’t let him get away with slapping you, oh no, you kneed him right in the balls so he’d know better not to fuck with you. He’d normally collapse and the fight would be over. But sometimes, on especially bad days, he got that look on him.
It wasn’t careful or hesitant. No, it was murderous and terrifying. You always knew there was something dangerous about him. That was probably what drew you in at first. But this…It was different. When he got that look, when the drugs clouded his mind like that, you were truly afraid of what he might do. And so you locked yourself in and listened to the way he pounded against the door, ready to break it down. So far, he hadn’t. A part of him was still in there, even when got like that.
But you didn’t want to push your luck.
After eight years of up and down, back and forth and through the gates of Hell, you finally left him for good. At first he probably didn’t believe it. After all, you had pulled the leaving card a million times before. But somehow you always ended up back in his bed, with him fucking your brains out and calling it making up.
But this time, you meant it. It had been a pretty normal Tuesday. You were at work, waiting tables and cleaning up after your mindless customers. It wasn’t the best job in the world, but it paid the bills – albeit, barely.
After your father left and married a woman hardly any older than you and you found your mother on the bathroom floor, cold and stiff, her eyes wide and her chin and hair covered in foam and puke, you decided couldn’t do this anymore. Couldn’t be that anymore.
You moved in with Nam-gyu. It started off well at first. He was as cute as ever, when he was sober. Sure, you had fights already, but they were mostly trivial. Yelling was involved, throwing furniture around as well, but he never got violent with you so far.
He found a job, as did you and you paid your apartment together. It was tiny of course, but it was enough. You bought groceries and washed laundry. You even had some spare money to buy furniture and decorations. It wasn’t much, but it was yours. You did everything the way you always pictured it.
You had been with Nam-gyu since you turned seventeen. You met back in school and immediately fell in love with him. He had been so sweet. Acting overly confident and arrogant, of course, but it was just a front which you immediately realized. Under all that he was actually rather silly. He made you laugh without even trying. Even he seemed surprised by how good you two matched. So far he’d been going through life, acting like everyone was beneath him. But in reality, he wasn’t popular. He was a bully. He was mean, with a cruel streak. But never to you. No, when someone dared to speak up their mind against you, he was there, ready to break their jaw. You formed a friendship of sort. He was protective and extremely possessive, while you were caring. His family was a bunch of assholes, just like yours was and neither of you had any real friends.
Most of your friends were other dancers and neither of those were really sentimental. Sure, it was enough to go out for a salad sometimes, but you really weren’t one for bulimia and cigarettes. Most of them were, unfortunately.
You loved food. You loved to eat and you appreciated every bite. You’d grown up rather lonely on your own, praying every night for a sibling or a real friend. Someone you could talk to, about real problems. Your ballet friends though? Whenever they asked you how you felt, they didn’t actually want to know. They were just being polite.
Nam-gyu was just as lonely, though he wouldn’t have ever admitted it. He had friends, who were to no one’s surprise, also a bunch of assholes. Some of them were just bullies, others were straight-up rapists.
“What do you mean, you changed your mind? Are you dumb? Shut the fuck up and take it. You agreed to this!”
Nam-gyu wasn’t. It was another thing he wouldn’t have admitted to out loud, but the thought of fucking someone while they were out of it was something he wasn’t after. A thing that really turned him on was to see the pleasure on the other person’s face. The moans, the sighs. He wouldn’t get that if he just made them take it. And so he didn’t. But he tried to keep a straight face, when his friends shared their immoral stories of last weekend. He tried to laugh, when they spoke about the way the girls curled up in self-hatred after they left them there, their cum leaking out of them.
That was until one of the girls ended up killing herself.
She had been super sad and melancholic for as long anyone could remember. She was rather quiet and no-one really spoke to her. She wasn’t weird or anything, just really shy. That was enough to get bullied. She was an obvious virgin and rather closed-off. A good challenge. A great bet.
So, one of his friends placed a bet with the others. Fuck the girl.
“No way that weirdo is letting you anywhere close to her.”
And she didn’t, at first. She didn’t trust anyone around, because people normally made fun of her. But that guy, who went by Nic, was a real good actor. He didn’t walk up to her and just made advances. No, he played shy around her. Sweet. Funny. He managed to tickle a smile out of her. A laugh. And he didn’t just do it once. He did it for days. Weeks. Two months. He played her boyfriend. Her sweet, shy boyfriend. Until her front slowly crumbled and she fell in love with him. Deeply. So much that she actually decided to give Nic her first.
According to Nic it had been nothing out of the ordinary, but Nam-gyu knew it was more than that. He could read the people around him fairly well, and he could also see the way Nic’s pupils dilated, the way his heart skipped a beat, whenever his sweet, little girlfriend was around.
But his friends, his friends, they were constantly at his back.
“Did you finally fuck her?”
“Did you stretch that weird little cunt, huh?”
“Don’t tell me you’re falling for that Wednesday Addams bitch.”
Nic had a reputation to uphold. And so he did what he deemed necessary. He had sex with her and then he dumped her. But not like any normal person would. No, he made fun of her in the worst ways and ended up sending her nudes to anyone who was interested.
The same nudes he had begged her to send him, to trust him, for only his eyes.
And the next day, the gruesome news were heard over speaker.
She was dead. Jumped off her apartment building, right into her death.
Nic had a mental breakdown. No-one else from his group really cared. No-one except for Nam-gyu. Nam-gyu spent the rest of the day in his car, staring down at the steering wheel and trying not to throw up.
You had heard the news of course and you were devastated. You hadn’t known the girl, but you had never been mean to her. You actually remembered a few interactions you had. You knew there had been something going on between her and Nam-gyu’s friend. But naïve, little you had had the hope that it wasn’t a trick. How stupid you had been.
You spent the rest of the day looking for him, but he was nowhere to be found. Right when you already thought maybe he wasn’t at school at all, you saw his car. He was inside and God, he looked horrible. With red-rimmed eyes and shaking hands, all day. You tried your best to comfort him, but it was futile. He felt guilty. Someone was dead. And maybe, just maybe, if he had intervened in time…
You tried to make him understand that it wasn’t his fault, not entirely. He never spoke to his friends again.
You’d later find out, that was the day he took his first injection. So far all he had been doing were mushrooms and weed, but Hell, who hadn’t?
You spent more and more time together, because he firmly ignored everyone who was so damn fucked in the head. He was trying to be good, he was trying so hard. Life hadn’t been easy on him, not at all, but he still tried.
A month later, you had your first kiss. Another three days later you had sex. It was your first time and he was being surprisingly gentle and considerate. You loved thinking back to it, because you didn’t regret it at all. No matter what else happened between you afterwards, you could never regret giving your virginity to him, because it meant so much to you. And it seemed to mean even more to him.
Two years later, it was safe to say you were made for each other. Even long after being out of school, you were still a couple. He still got these angry outbursts sometimes, but you tried to understand him. He had grown up, feeling unseen and unloved by anyone. As did you. You weren’t angry per say. But you got angry, when he did. You had these desperate mood swing. And whenever something didn’t go your way, you felt like the world was ending. You felt everything intensely.
Love was great. It was all-consuming. You loved him in the same way he did. You adored him. Anger was different. It felt suffocating. Sadness wasn’t sadness, but depression. And despair was enough to nearly kill you.
You tried going to university, but that didn’t work out, because your father left and so you had no chance to pay the tuition. Nam-gyu never even bothered to try, because he knew he would fail anyway, but he tried whatever he could to make your dream work. You wanted to work with animals, heal them, help them, do whatever you could to make someone’s life better. But despite all your – and his – efforts, it didn’t work out. It was simply too much. He was heartbroken when you were forced to leave school, because of your selfish prick of a father. But it was alright.
You’d find another job. You could still make it in life, even without university. Everything was good.
That was, until you couldn’t afford your dance practice any longer.
That was heartbreaking.
One day, you came home after a long day of playing cashier, only to find your mother had stolen all the money you had saved so far. She took it to buy pills or whatever else. You couldn’t even be mad at her, because she lay passed out in the doorway to her room.
You had no money. And all your dreams were dead.
By the time that happened you were far into twenty-one, so you knew that life was cruel and you turned more and more bitter.
Nam-gyu was simply angry, but there was not much he could do. His parents threw him out at nineteen, so he had been paying his own rent since then. He tried speculating with cryptocurrency, but that didn’t work out. He played it down, but you knew he lost quite the amount of his own savings.
A year later your mother died and you finally moved in together. So far you hadn’t been able to leave her on her own, but now that she was gone, you couldn’t stand to live in the same place where she had died. The cemetery of what could have been. Countless dour memories, not a single one good.
You had never had a particularly good relationship, but she was your mother nonetheless. The sight of her dead body and horrified face, it haunted you in your sleep. You spent more than one night, waking up screaming, sweating and clutching the linens. Luckily, Nam-gyu was there to catch you, before you ever managed to fall into the deep pit that was your mind.
He managed to calm you down somehow, every time. He was perfect. The perfect boyfriend.
Until he wasn’t.
You hated when he did drugs, especially so after what had happened to your mother. And so he said he wouldn’t, but it was obviously just to pacify you. You always noticed when he did it nonetheless, you knew the dazed look in his eyes, the paleness of his skin. Whenever he refused a meal, it was obvious to you. Normally, he’d choke down everything you cooked like a starved animal, but there were days when he picked at his food and that was always the first indication.
His short responses, his temper, suddenly so easily flared. It didn’t take long for your first real argument to break out. It was fine, up until the point when you saw his hand twitch. Obviously, you shot him a murderous look, daring him. If he dared to hit you, you’d break his fucking jaw.
And he refrained. For then.
Things went mostly normal, until the next fight. That time he wasn’t so gentle. Things got out of hand and he pushed you against the wall, smashing your head against it in the process. For a moment, you were simply stunned – and even he seemed to be. He stopped before he could cause any greater damage.
Things went between good and bad, it was a constant battle for dominance. One day was good, the next day horrible. You couldn’t even look at him without earning a harsh comment. You’d ignore him firmly for the rest of the day and eventually he’d come crawling back, begging you to let him back inside the bedroom. He didn’t mind the couch, he just missed you. And somehow you always forgave him, far too easily. Sometimes he did change for a while. Surprised you with flowers or his sad attempts at cooking. Every time he messed up a scrambled egg, you couldn’t help but get weak. He was so silly, it was endearing. Yet at the same time, you knew there was something dark within him. Most likely the drugs, but you could never tell for sure.
Maybe this was just who he was.
Things got better and worse again, until one night, he snapped. You had a fight about one of your co-workers, who he considered a threat. You never understood it, because to you it was so obvious that you never wanted anyone else. Despite your problems, you stayed fiercely loyal to him. You loved Nam-gyu. And a part of you still believed that in the end, things would turn out good. Maybe they would, right?
But that night was bad. He got so furious and when he yelled at you, the walls seemed to shake. You were normally so eager to fight back, so strong, but that day something was different. You were on your period and just a few hours earlier, you had met a dance friend of yours. She told you, she was sure that, if you had stayed, you’d be famous by now. But she wasn’t kind about it. She was subtly looking down at you, shaming you for the way your life had turned out. It made a tight knot form in your stomach and you felt your resolve slowly crumble. All you wanted was to cry, but even that didn’t work, because you came home to a furious Nam-gyu.
Your shoulders slumped and you refused to look at him, which only ever made him angrier.
You didn’t see the slap coming, but once it happened, you couldn’t forget it. Couldn’t forget the anger and the disappointment that welled up in you. When you looked up at him, you expected the tiniest bit of regret or guilt, but there was nothing. He was too deep in his bubble of anger and substance, to see clearly. He got more and more furious and you knew; if you didn’t hide then, he’d do something worse. It was the first night you hid yourself away in the bathroom, one of many to follow. You always told yourself it were the drugs. He was so sweet when he was sober, so gentle and loving. You kept telling yourself, things would be good one day. They would turn out well. With time and patience.
Until you snapped.
You were at work, staring off into the distance. You had been out of it all day, because you spent the previous night locked in the bathroom, until he finally passed out around four in the morning. You snuck out and made your way to your workplace, where you opened more than three hours early. You had nowhere else to go. No family, no friends, no one. Only you and your pain. All day you spent trying to cover the dark marks on your wrists, but no one seemed to care anyway. People went about their own lives and problems and you were just their co-worker, their waitress.
You stood silently, watching an elderly couple whose order you had just taken. They were so sweet, like they came right out of a movie. He held the door open for her and pulled her chair back. He caressed her cheek and she never flinched when he reached out his hand for her. They smiled at each other with such a tenderness, it brought tears to your eyes. That was the exact moment. That was the moment you realized you didn’t want to continue on living like this.
You wanted more. You deserved more.
You made your way back and gathered most of your things while he was still at work. Of course it wasn’t the most intelligent approach, but it was all you could do. You knew, the moment you sat down and tried to explain to him that you were going to leave him, he’d find a way to convince you to stay. It had been eight years, after all. Eight years on and off, eight years up and down. Drugs, violence, lies – at least he never cheated on you.
You’d keep that in tender memory of him. As well as the countless times he had comforted and fought for you. All the times he made you laugh, all the times he made you feel loved. The greatest sex you would ever have, no doubt.
But you still packed your things and left like a ghost. After eight years.
He tried to contact you of course, the moment he came home. But you took your paycheck and went to a motel. Whenever he tried to find you at work, you hid in the kitchen. Your co-workers tried to calm him down, to tell him that you didn’t work there any longer, but he saw through the lie. He got loud and furious, which you could kind of understand. You stayed in the kitchen, crying to yourself and feeling incredibly guilty, but you didn’t ever come out.
He kept coming, but it got less and less frequent. From what your co-workers told you, he seemed less and less like himself. The thought broke your heart and nearly made you go back.
You were constantly in your head, making more and more mistakes at work, until your boss’s patience finally snapped. When you messed up the third customers giant bill, he fired you. You instantly panicked, because you were sure, now you had to go back.
You even drove around in your car, trying to get a glimpse of him in the apartment. But to your horror, you didn’t see Nam-gyu in the window. It were other people, some couple actually. And when you tried to call him, the number wasn’t available. Suddenly, he was a ghost and you were knee deep in horse shit.
It didn’t take long for your money to go and so you ended up panicking. You had to leave the motel soon and if you didn’t get a job – you’d end up homeless. Which was as good as dead.
A few days later, after you realized that you seemed to have no special talents and that no one really cared to hire you, you sat at the metro station. You had only one option left or so you thought. Le girls girls girls. You were a dancer. You were graceful. You were too good for this.
But it was all you could do. After all, the girls didn’t have to indulge in any immoral transactions. They were just dancing, right? Fine, in light clothing, but still dancing. You could do that.
You were deep in thought, your eyes closed and your head leaned against the wall behind you, when you heard someone’s voice.
“Care for a game of Ddakji?”
This was when your life took a dark turn.
You eyed the handsome stranger with suspicion. It was super odd. A man going down the path of middle age, slicked-back hair, wearing a suit and a briefcase on him.
And he was asking you to play a game with him?
You frowned and glanced around.
“I don’t know what you want, but you won’t get it from me.”
He smirked and tilted his head to the side innocently.
“I don’t want anything. Just a little game. That’s all. You got something to win here. I got money.”
You narrowed your eyes at him. “I’m not a fucking hooker.”
He smiled again, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “And I told you, all I want is to play a game. Are you scared?”
That made you bristle. You knew the game and you fucking hated it. You were fairly good at playing at, but you didn’t care for this idiot’s audacity. You were about to snap at him again, when you caught sight of the money. Your eyes widened and you sank back against the wall.
“I don’t have any money.” You murmured back.
“Don’t worry. You can pay with your body.”
Your head shot up and you were ready to lunge at him, but he held up his hands in a placating gesture. “I have no intention of fucking you.” He said calmly. “So, I’ll ask again. Are you scared?”
You crossed your arms and got up, giving him a dirty look.
“Get to it, son of a bitch.”
Your eyes fluttered open slowly. You had trouble adjusting your sight to the unnatural, neon light. The smell was odd, somewhat disinfectant. Something was really wrong.
You slowly stretched and turned your head, only to see you weren’t alone. That was enough to nearly make you shriek. You sat up quickly enough to get dizzy. Next to your own bunk was a woman who stared at you through her cat-eyes. She smirked devilishly as she lay on her side.
“Your fate is sealed. There’s no way you can dance your way out of this.”
You tried to ignore the way your heart raced in your chest. This had to be some freakish co-incidence. You took your gaze off her, only to realize you weren’t alone. Countless people surrounded you, some of them awake, others still asleep. They all wore the same green tracksuit, just as you did.
You took a shaky breath and carefully swung your legs over the bed, heading for the ladder.
What, in God’s name, was this? And why did you agree to it?
You only remembered how ashamed you felt and how good the prospect sounded of not having to dance half-naked for strange men.
But was this really better?
You glanced around in the hope of…Of what? The situation was far too fucked up.
The fact that they got you here unconsciously, getting you dressed…
You wanted to throw up. You stumbled through the great hall, hoping to get some answers to your questions, but that hope quickly got crushed.
These were the real strange men. Dressed in pink suits, wearing masks which covered all of their faces and even their voices weren’t their own. Whatever this was, it wasn’t a fun game, you suddenly realized.
That Ddakji playing motherfucker had deceived you.
You lost the first round, which resulted in him slapping you. And that slap, which hadn’t really been a gentle one, awakened some kind of beast in you. You didn’t know what it was, maybe the memory of getting slapped and hunted down your own apartment on a regular basis. Whatever it was, you didn’t lose another round. He gave you money and money and money. But you didn’t want his fucking money. You wanted revenge.
You kept winning, because nothing else was possible. And by the end of the game, he smiled at you while he handed you the damned card.
But right before he turned crawled back into the pit of Hell where he had come from, you called out to him.
“Hey, motherfucker.”
He cocked a brow and regarded you with amusement. “Are you still mad about that tiny, little hit? Come on, you took it like a champ.”
“Then you should, too.” You slapped him with an intensity, you didn’t think you’d ever possess.
He looked at you like a statue, obviously ready to lunge at and murder you. But he hid his murderous intent behind a well-rehearsed smile.
“That one was free.” He said calmly. “And if I ever do see you again, I want a return match.”
He left and you were left with the card.
And there you were now. This wasn’t some childish game of Ddakji.
No one showed their face. You knew what that meant. Something was wrong – and you were in trouble.
You were about to leave the hall and take part in the first game, following after the others. You wouldn’t even have noticed, had you not bumped into him full-force.
When you pulled back your head, ready to apologize, you froze.
There he was. Your Nam-gyu. Staring back at you with wide eyes, behind them a mixture of something akin to surprise and fury.
“What the fuck?” He hissed.
He rushed forward and grabbed your by the shoulders, backing you up against the wall. Your eyes widened and you tried to push him back, but he was driven by something far stronger than both of you.
“Nam-gyu?” You breathed out.
He frowned deeply and stared at you incredulously.
“What the hell are you doing here?!”
“I didn’t-“
“Oh my God, I’m going to kill you.” He growled. “Where were you? What’s going on with you? Are you fucking-“
“Is there a problem here?” At first, you didn’t see the guy behind him with his ridiculous hairstyle and pouty lips. Immediately, you hated the sight of him.
“Fuck, she’s my-“
The purple-haired guy gave his shoulder a squeeze. “Whatever, man. We should get going, huh? We’ll be late for the game.”
He eyed you in an odd way, but you pushed it down and used the moment to free yourself from Nam-gyu’s grip and run out, rushing after the others and hiding in the crowd. He attempted to follow you and even called out to you, but you were already gone.
Fuck, you thought.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.

hmm AU where soap started on makarov’s side. and through a whole lot of falsified records and bribes and a handful of other morally questionable measures, soap worms his way into a spot on the 141 with an alias and an only somewhat bs backstory. he's there to infiltrate, steal information, do anything he can to hinder the team without appearing suspicious.
and he does so—at first, at least. but then there's the cliché getting attached that leads him down a dangerous road. soon enough he's making excuses for both sides as to why he's faltering, and he hates that the team keeps calling him thomas, completely unaware that it isn't actually his name.
it's ghost who he becomes the closest with. it takes months for ghost to stop keeping such an intent eye on him, then there's a noticeable shift at some indeterminate point, and suddenly they've gotten too close. romantically close. and soap becomes torn between his original missions—which, technically, still is his mission—and the life he's created with the 141. with ghost.
there's one night, before any reveal happens, when ghost and soap are crowded onto one of the tiny barracks mattresses. soap has just become so tired of it all, and were anyone to know any of the truth, he'd want it to be ghost. simon. and soap would want him to be able to hear it from the source, rather than from anyone else.
ghost calls him that fake name, thomas, and soap can't take it any longer.
"that's not my name," soap confesses. blunt.
there's a brief pause; a too-long silence. then, "i know."
soap frowns, sitting up faster than he realized himself capable. "you do?"
ghost nods. his face is... strangely placid. he coaxes soap to lay back down. their faces are close. too close. "figured it out a while ago. was gonna do something about it, but decided to wait. to watch. and after a while, you just... weren't a threat anymore. though i never did figure out your name."
soap's heart beats loud in his ears. he wonders if ghost can hear it, too. "it's john," he says. "john mactavish."
ghost hums. "suits you better, johnny." he screws up his face. "thomas was my brother's name. glad i don't have to keep calling you that."
they both laugh quietly. soap relaxes, just a bit.
"and you're not mad?" soap asks after a moment. faint. timid.
"was pissed, at first," ghost admits with a shrug. "and a part of me still resents you. but i've seen how you've changed. you've proven yourself time and again. didn't make sense to keep hating you."
like a lightbulb going off, in a great moment of clarity, soap suddenly knows exactly where he stands amongst this mess.
and he realizes now just what he has to do to protect all he's built up.
"i won't let you down, simon," soap whispers, and he'll be damned if he doesn't see to it that that remains true.

Now that helluva boss season 2 has hit it's finale, let's discuss everything we know about season 3 at this point in time!
aka, a comprehensive list of everything about season 3 that we've been told about so far. (Please tell me if I've missed anything, thanks!)
I do not think that any of this information necessitates a spoiler tag on this post, but if you want to go into season 3 completely blind, click off this post now.
Bluesky Stuff:

What we learned from this bluesky thread posted shortly before Sinsmas was released is as follows:
The wait until Season 3 starts will be quite long.
The team decided that helluva boss having closer releases of episodes was the best decision (heard this meant a month in-between episodes but I forgot where I saw that), so thee team wants to commit to a more traditional release going forward.
Confirmed once again that season 3 has a total of 15 episodes.
We will also be getting shorts in-between the wait until season 3 starts, and I assume this means monthly shorts as well, based on the fact we had monthly shorts last time as well.

Vivziepop has also described season 3 as a 'queer roller coaster.', so we gotta be prepared to get back on that ride again.

At some panel it was confirmed that in season 3 we will be getting an episode that contains some more Millie backstory.
Tweet link here:
In some other panel, alongside confirming Vassago's appearance in the Mastermind episode, they also confirmed that we will be seeing 'much more' of Vassago in season 3, the post in the picture above contains the clip of this moment in the panel as well.

In what appears to be a recording for the second half of season 3, they're doing recording work for a Stolas song titled 'Dirty Bird', and yes, it is going to be super horny. There is a video of this Instagram post on the post below, plus one extra screenshot.

In the Los Angeles Comic Con 2024, quite a few things were revealed to us, with those being as follows:
As said before, this traditional release schedule does mean that the episodes will hopefully be a month apart from each other, and that Vivziepop saw the show was moving towards a more narrative direction, with this also being where the heart of the show is, and as a result, the direction the team is going in.
Lastly, we probably won't see all 72 Goetias, but we will see a lot more of them in season 3.
Post referenced in above screenshot contains a youtube link to said Comic Con.
According to the reblogs under this post, it appears that Erica (Loona's VA), was asked what her favorite song/episode was, and she responded with 'the song that Loona has in season three', confirming that Loona does have a song during season 3.
Video can be found within this post:
youtube
At 1:06:19 of this video, Vivziepop does state that the show will eventually get to Stella's perspective, which I have to imagine the show will get to in season 3, and that Vivziepop hearkens Stella's character to the character of BoJack Horseman's mother (Beatrice Horseman) because they are very similar in that regard.

Finally, Vivziepop posted these screenshots of her doing some audio editing to her Instagram over a year ago, we don't know what episode this is from but based on the long name in line 7 that doesn't appear to match any character we know at the moment, this appears to likely be a picture of some season 3 audio.
The main things we can gather from these screenshots appear to be Millie talking with Stolas a bit, and the absolute explosion of voices following something that Blitz said.
Post where I found these screenshots from can be found here, some additional discussion regarding is also in the reblogs:
youtube
This YouTube video covers a few instagram videos covering recording footage that Vivziepop uploaded to her account, with them being from the first half of season 3.
What we learn from these instagram videos is that Wally Wackford returns in season 3 with some new lines, and there's also a courtroom scene as well involving Blitz and Stolas, with it also looking like Stolas will be acting as defense for Blitz regarding something we don't know at the moment.

According to Vivzie's instagram, we will be seeing Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox (You might have heard of them before from something called Smosh) be the VAs of some special future characters at some point during season 3.
youtube
In this helluva boss podcast that Brandon Rogers did, Brandon Rogers stated that season 3 has a packed cast of guest stars, and then mentioned that we'll be seeing people from Brandon Roger's universe, aka, his own YouTube channel, in the hellaverse at some point during season 3.

In a helluva boss QnA panel, it was confirmed that we will be seeing more of Blitz's circus past at some point, and of course, that also means that we're gonna get more flashbacks to traumatic moments in Blitz's life as well in regards to his circus past, trauma flashbacks if you want to call it that. (Credits to Lexipop398 for transcripting all of the QnA, can find the full transcript of the QnA here, do note that you have to be signed into bluesky to view the post, however.)
To wrap things off, I believe the next significant reveal or such regarding season 3 will be found in the 2025 LVL UP EXPO, as there are quite a lot of VAs involved with Helluva Boss there, plus Sam Haft and Vivziepop.
Especially considering that in the 2024 LVL UP EXPO, the first helluva boss short was shown, we got the song featured in s2 e8, 'When I See Him' and the season 2 trailer.

Garten of Banban 0 Discussion:
To understand Chapter 0, first we have to go over Banban's backstory. Mind you everything in it happened to this little guy:

Longer Analysis on Banban: Click Here
Summarizing the reports:
Banban, Case #6, was created. He is able to recall memories and events belonging to his original genome donor, Dr. Uthman Adam. He also has an identical level of intelligence and is capable of speaking as fluently as the original genome donor.
However, Banban doesn't recognize himself as a non-human. When addressed as a non-human, he is confused. Even when presented with a mirror, Banban still sees himself as Dr. Uthman Adam.
A meeting between Banban and his human genome donor is arranged. During this, Banban became extremely agitated and attempted to attack Dr. Uthman Adam.
After this Banban refused to communicate with anyone outside Dr. Weverly Mason. However, this request was denied.
From there, Banban's mental state became unstable. He was placed in solitary since he'd attack anyone and anything that attempted to approach him. Along with not respond to any instructions delivered through speakers.
Whenever released from solitary, he'd stay huddled in the corner of his chamber, pacing around his room, and whispering to himself "Givanium", "Pancreas", "Weverly", and "Uthman".
To help Banban, Case #7 Banbaleena, was created to encourage cooperation. Although not hostile towards Banbaleena, Banban's rebellious behavior remained unchanged.
So they used a newly-modified Givanium solution on Banban which was engineered to lower the functions of self-thinking. The results weren't what they expected, and instead, it caused Banban to fall victim to his primitive instincts, AKA his Devil Form. This Devil Form would be referred to as Case #6B.
At the start of Chapter 0 there's a vote. All the scientists, excluding Syringeon, voted to have Banban repurposed for parts and replaced. This was primarily due to Banban's inability to control himself.

However, since Banban the mascot, is such a crucial role in Banban's Kindergarten, instead of completely getting rid of the character, they planned to remake Banban.
Which would be Case #6C, Flumbo.
Syringeon and Banban didn't want that to happen.
So, during Chapter 0, while waiting for the results of the voting Banban gained Flumbo's trust: More detailed explanation here.
After the voting results came in and revealed Banban would be replaced. Syringeon came up with the plan for Flumbo to "accidentally" be killed by the Experiment Ramamba.

It's somewhat implied that the Ramamba was (partially) made using the Givanium blob that Syringeon took:

Syringeon informs Banban of his plan however Syringeon can't be there during it. So Banban later lures Flumbo to where he'll be killed lying that he has a surprise for him. Things don't go according to the plan since Nabnab sacrifices himself to save Flumbo.
Ramamba eats Kittysaurus, Bittergiggle, and Nabnab.

Before this, all the human Scientists were evacuated from the area. This was due to earthquakes causing something to break making the tranquilizing gas leak. The earthquakes were most likely caused by Ramamba due to its large size.
It was important to make sure no Scientists were around since the Experiments aren't supposed to be out:

The Scientists care so little about the Experiments that they left a baby Bittergiggle to die when evacuating, who Flumbo saves.

(BITTERGIGGLE'S FACE IS KILING ME 😂😭 I LOVE IT!!!!)
Banban later transforms into his Devil Form which helps him kill Ramamba and save everyone (including those eaten).

Afterwards, Banban thinks that maybe the scientists are right about him needing to be repurposed, but changes his mind. Banban desperately wants to live so he does something horrible . . .
Banban, who considers himself the group's leader, suggests another game of hide and seek. Banban takes Flumbo to his best hiding spot, tricks Flumbo, and locks him in a closet.
Banban makes the decision to focus on moving forward instead of fixating on what he's done to Flumbo:

Banban: "Best not to dwell on the past and only focus on the future."
Here no one will be able to find Flumbo, resulting in him being LOCKED UP THIS ENTIRE TIME!!!! Which is extra devastating when you consider Flumbo viewed Banban as his friend!!!
With Flumbo gone, they HAVE to use and keep Banban around. Especially with all the money invested into Banban and the Kindergarten's release date quickly approaching.
Hence, why a lot of the decorations in the Kindergarten have Flumbo's name, but Banban's face.

In the meantime Syringeon is secretly working on creating a cure for Banban's issue with controlling his primitive instincts.

Fun detail: Banban repeats Syringeon's words in Chapter 4:

It's unclear WHY but Syringeon is heavily invested in Banban.

Throughout Chapter 0 it's shown Syringeon has secretly been working with Banban. While the other Experiments like Banbaleena are scared of Syringeon. Since he takes away their friends and are afraid they're going to be next.

Banban plays this middle man roll "scaring" Syringeon off and saying:
Banban: "I've managed to scare him away this time, as I'm sure you saw. And as long as I am around, I always will."
Banbaleena: "How many more of us will he snatch and take away?! It's only a matter of time before it's my turn!"
Banban: "I'll make sure that never happens."
There's also a secret area where Flumbo can meet a baby Slow Seline!! Who talks about seeing visions of the future featuring the Player and Flumbo together. Along with unknowingly predicting that he'd be locked away by Banban.

Other fun details: Tarta Bird is Case #21, Syringeon helped create Banban, Flumbo gave Banbaleena her bow, NABNAB HUGGING FLUMBO, Banban calls Nabnab his best friend, Banban gave Banbaleena flowers (they were plastic mushrooms lol), Banban says Truffletoot is one of the few cases that he truly considers a friend, AND TRUFFLETOOT WAS SO CUTE!!!!
Banban's little nubs ARE HIS EARS??!!!

#Also everyone was knocked out </3 so none of the Experiments (outside maybe Syringeon) know what happened to Flumbo.#(〃∇〃)ゞ This silly 𝗛𝗨𝗚𝗘 ramble is to mainly help me keep track of lore.#I'd 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 for anyone else to add onto this post and share their thoughts!!!#If I don't word vomit about Gobb I will implode XD#Garten of Banban#Garten of Banban 0#Garten of Banban Spoiler#Garten of Banban Spoilers#Garten of Banban 0 Spoiler#Garten of Banban 0 Spoilers#GOBB#GOBB Spoiler#GOBB Spoilers#GOBB 0 Spoiler#GOBB 0 Spoilers#Banban#MaddyMoreauPost#Long Post#Long Text

Missing you
Jack Daniels ~ Agent Whiskey x afab!reader (wc: 2.6k)

“Wish you were here right now, all of the things I'd do. I wanna get freaky on camera” — Cybersex by Doja cat
SMUT ONE SHOT | MDNI | +18
Warning: Sexual tension | online sex | light voyeurism | sexual toy usage | porn with no plot | Not proofread | no use of y/n. | light praise kink | quicky
backstory: You found yourself in a particularly tiresome mission in the city of Rome. Although the work kept you occupied, it didn’t stop Jack from constantly calling you and expressing how much he misses you. One day, he sends you a special gift.

You found yourself rocking back and forth in your comfortable hotel room chair, captivated by the glorious sight of Rome through the window. The vibrant cityscape, a fusion of modernity and historic charm, held your attention so thoroughly that you could spend hours just gazing at it, if not for the fact that you were currently on a video call with your “boyfriend”, Jack.
The conversation went smoothly, the two of you chatting about your trip and how much you missed each other's company. In the midst of the conversation, Jack's voice suddenly shifted, hinting at a surprise.
"Hey sweetheart, I've got something special for you. Take a peek inside your suitcase, would ya?"
You glanced at the leather suitcase bearing the renowned S logo, the company monogram gleaming in the center. With a hint of anticipation, you carefully opened it, revealing a box wrapped in blue. You looked back at the camera and gave him a sly smirk, silently inquiring about the mysterious gift. Your mind buzzed with curiosity, wondering what treasures lay hidden inside the deceptively small box.
"Go on, open it," Jack's voice cut through the silence, his tone dripping with mischief and anticipation.
Your heart skips a beat as you gaze at the vibrator nestled in the blue box, a blush spreading across your cheeks. The sleek, purple device seems to wink at you, promising an unforgettable evening. You could feel Jack’s eyes light up with mischief as he saw your reaction on the small screen. A roguish grin spreading across his face.
"Well beautiful, looks like Santa came early this year," he draws teasingly. "I thought you could use some company on your little trip. Why don't you give it a test run for me, hmm?" His voice drops, taking on a husky, seductive tone. "I wanna see you play with it, darlin'. Put on a little show for me."
He leans back in his chair, showcasing his bulge to your hungry eyes. One of his hands casually rested on it, making him groan softly. His brown eyes practically undressing you through the screen, making your body shiver. "Don't be shy now.” He whispers. "Turn it on, sweetheart. Nice and slow. Let's see how loud I can make you moan from all the way over here."
The heat of your blush intensified. Hell, you felt like you were about to pass out from how overwhelmed yet turned on you were. Slowly, tentatively, you reach for the vibrator, your heart racing as you switch it on. The soft hum fills the otherwise quiet room. Your eyes widened as you felt how your hand quivered from the power of the toy, and you can't help but imagine the sensation it might bring.
As the vibrations grow stronger in your trembling hand, Whiskey's grin widens. He watched your every move, drinking in the sight of you under his spell. "That's it, baby. Mmmm, you look so fuckin' hot right now," he groans.
"I wish I was there with you, watching those pretty pink lips of yours wrap around that toy... But I guess this will have to do for now." He palms himself through his jeans, clearly getting off on the show. His free hand reaches for a cigar, lighting it up as he settles in to enjoy the view.
"Go on now, sweetheart. Don't keep me waiting," Whiskey urges, his voice needy with that typical hint of demand. "Bury that toy nice and deep, just like you like it. Fuck, I can almost hear those sweet little moans..."
He takes a long drag of his cigar, blowing out a plume of smoke. His eyes never leave the screen, riveted by your every move.
You disregarded your pants and underwear in a clumsy manner, feeling almost idiotic to do this through a video call, but in a twisted way, it was filthy, raw. Jack licked his lips, his gaze smoldering with lust as your anticipating legs opened just for him. He's clearly enjoying putting you in this compromising position, eager to push your buttons and drive you wild with pleasure, even from a distance.
With a deep breath, you press the vibrator against your sex, biting your lip as the buzzing warmth sends tingles through your body. inevitably, your back arches and you let out a mix of a gasp and a moan. Your eyes quickly go to the man on the screen, enamored by the sight.
"You're so goddamn sexy when you let yourself go like this. I love seeing you lose control for me," he praises, voice thick with lust as he chortles. "Now why don't you slip that toy in and out of that tight little pussy of yours and ride it for me? I want you to cum over and over until you can't even remember your own name."
Whiskey pushes his chair back, legs spreading wider. The heat in his gaze burns through the screen as he waits for you to follow his filthy commands. Slowly, you grind against the toy, looking right into his brown eyes, putting on a show just for him.
“Ah goddammit.” A loud groan of frustration escaped Jack, followed by the sound of his laptop slamming down as he abruptly ended the call. Your heart skipped a beat, pounding fiercely against your chest as you stared at the suddenly blank screen of your laptop. The sudden disconnection left you feeling both puzzled and worried, a flood of anxiety washing over you.
The sinking feeling in your stomach grows as you process the implications of Jack's abrupt departure from the call, but before you can dwell on it further, a bright flash of light emanates from your smart glasses, momentarily blinding you. The urgent meeting notification blinks insistently, demanding your attention. In a panic, you instinctively nod, accepting the video conference without a second thought.
As the holographic display materializes before you, you realize the gravity of your oversight. In the heat of the moment, you had completely forgotten about your state of undress, the vibrator still nestled between your thighs. A wave of embarrassment washes over you as you pray that the hologram's limitations will spare you from any potential mortification.
Shifting uncomfortably in your seat, acutely aware of the toy's presence and the lingering warmth it has left on your sensitive skin. Your mind races with the possibilities of what might happen if anyone were to discover your compromising situation.
Your heart skips a beat as your gaze lands upon Jack, his flustered expression instantly setting your nerves on edge. You can practically feel his eyes boring into you from behind the holographic display, his presence both comforting and unnerving.
With a quick nod, you acknowledge his presence, trying to keep your voice steady and professional as you address him. "Agent Whiskey."
“Agent Wine.” His response, laced with a knowing smirk, makes your cheeks flush with equal parts embarrassment and excitement.
The way he says your codename, drawing out the 'Wine' with a playful inflection, sends a jolt of electricity through your body. It's as if he's relishing in his knowledge of your compromising position. You squirm in your seat, the vibrator still nestled between your thighs, a constant reminder of your shared secret.
The meeting drones on, a seemingly endless parade of statistics and strategic plans. Your mind struggles to keep pace, constantly drawn back to the throbbing between your thighs. You try to focus on the cold, clinical data presented, but your body betrays you, each movement a torturous reminder of the toy hidden beneath your body.
Your eyes dart around the holographic conference table, avoiding the temptation to glance down at the source of your distraction. You know that looking at Jack will only make matters worse, his mere presence a constant tease. But in a moment of weakness, your gaze drifts to his face, colliding with those piercing brown eyes and that infuriating smirk.
A chill runs down your spine as you raise an eyebrow questioningly. Before you can utter a word, Jack's finger presses to his lips, a silent command to keep quiet. Your heart races as he reaches into his pocket, retrieving a small remote control. Without a word, he presses a button, and the vibrator springs to life, humming softly against your most sensitive flesh.
A sharp gasp escapes your lips as the sudden stimulation sends shockwaves through your body. Your hands fly to the edges of your desk, gripping the wood so tightly your knuckles turn white. The vibrations pulse through you, each wave building upon the last, threatening to consume you entirely.
You bite your lip, trying desperately to stifle any further sounds. Your thighs tremble, the muscles quivering as you struggle to maintain control. The holograms flicker and dance around you, but all you can focus on is the relentless throb between your legs, the heat building steadily in your core.
“Is everything okay?” Ginger's eyes sparkled with concern and confusion as she addressed you.
You mustered a composed response, trying to maintain a steady tone. "Yes, I thought I saw a bug. Apologies."
At that moment, Tequila spoke up with a bemused smirk. "A bug? You're afraid of a tiny insect, Wine?" Whiskey chuckles darkly at Tequila's comment, his eyes never leaving yours. He leans back in his chair, a smug grin playing on his lips, clearly enjoying your struggle.
“Yes, a bug.” Your eyes narrowed, teeth gritting together as you shot a warning glare at Tequila. He quickly got the message, backing down with a knowing smile.
You let out a silent sigh of relief, turning your attention back to the meeting. But even as you try to focus on the discussion at hand, your mind keeps drifting to Jack, to the power he holds over you in this moment.
You are silently pleading for mercy. But his gaze remains fixed upon you, his expression one of pure, unadulterated lust. He revels in this, in the knowledge that he holds your pleasure, your very sanity, in the palm of his hand at this moment.
The minutes tick by agonizingly slowly, each second an eternity of sweet torture. You bite your lip hard enough to draw blood, the coppery taste mingling with the sweat beading on your brow. Your breath comes in short, sharp gasps, your chest heaving with the effort to maintain your composure.
Finally, the meeting draws to a close. The holographic displays flicker and vanish, leaving you alone with Jack and the lingering echo of the vibrator's hum. You slump back in your chair, your body trembling with the aftershocks of your denied release.
Jack's gaze locked onto you from across the room, a smug smile playing on his lips. "Sweetheart, you did great," he remarked before adding, "but I'm afraid we have some unfinished business to take care of."
Tossing the glasses into the bed, you called Jack again, slumping back in your chair, your body trembling with the effort of maintaining your composure.
As the video call connects, Whiskey's smirking face fills your screen, his eyes glinting with wicked delight. He leans back in his chair. "Well, hello there, darlin'," he drawls, his voice low and husky. "Looks like you're all alone now. No more prying eyes to worry about."
His gaze takes over your trembling form, taking in the sight of you sprawled out in your chair, cheeks flushed and chest heaving. You can practically feel the heat of his stare through the screen.
"I couldn't stop thinking about that little show you put on for me earlier," Whiskey continues, a predatory edge creeping into his tone. "The way you squirmed and bit your lip, trying so hard to hold back those sweet moans... Fuck, it was hot."
His free hand disappears from view for a moment, and when it reappears, it's wrapped around the thick length of his cock, stroking slowly. “You did so well" he purrs, his voice a low, seductive growl as looks at you. The way his rough voice turned into soft whimpers with each stroke sent a fresh wave of heat courses through your body.
His other hand actively looks for the controller, turning the vibrator a level more. It’s more loud, faster and intense, hitting all the right spots in your heat. “Fuck…” You cry out, thrusting your hips into the air as you look at him.
Your eyes drift downward, taking in the sight of his hand moving rhythmically, pumping his hardened length with slow, deliberate strokes. The knowledge that he is pleasuring himself while watching you only adds to the intensity of the moment, a heady mix of exhibitionism and voyeurism.
"Fuck yeah, just like that," he groans, palming himself harder. "You're so goddamn sexy, baby. The way you're movin' on that... Mmmm, makes me wanna bend you over and fuck you 'til you can't walk straight."
His gaze is intense, burning into you through the screen. "You like puttin' on a show for me, don't you darlin'?" Jack coos, voice low and rough with arousal. "Such a naughty thing, lettin' me watch you play with yourself. I bet you're drippin' wet right now, aren't you?"
Jack’s hand speeds up on his cock, stroking himself faster, getting off on the erotic display you're giving him. The other hand holds the controller, ready to push you over the edge at any moment.
“Just for you.” You utter, struggling to even talk as the level is torturing your pussy, barely able to keep your eyes on him.
“Damn right it's just for me," he growls, his voice thick with desire. "You're all mine, Agent. Every inch of that sexy body belongs to me." With that he turns one, then another cruel level more.
Your eyes roll back as the vibrations intensify, the toy mercilessly pounding into your sensitive flesh. Your body convulses, spasming uncontrollably. “Jack!” You cry out, begging him for something you’re not sure about. All you know is that the vibration is more than you can handle.
"Sorry sweetheart. I just wanna see you lose control. Fuck that pussy 'til you're screamin' my name. Show me how much you miss my cock."
His breathing grows ragged, chest heaving with each labored breath. He's completely entranced by the sight of you, lost in the fantasy of being there with you, taking you apart with his own hands and tongue. "Goddamn, you're so fuckin' hot," he praises breathlessly.
His words ignite something deep within you, a primal need that demands to be satiated. You arch your back, pressing the vibrator harder against your aching core as you ride the waves of sensation crashing over you. Your breath comes in short, sharp gasps, your chest heaving with the effort of holding back the impending release. The tension builds, coiling tighter and tighter in your belly until you can stand it no more.
With a cry of pure, unadulterated ecstasy, you let go, your body convulsing as the orgasm rips through you. The vibrator's hum seems to intensify, prolonging your climax, drawing out every last drop of pleasure. Through the haze of your own release, you see Jack's hand move faster, his breath coming in harsh pants as he chases his own end, whimpering your name like a prayer as he cums all over those strong, manly hands of his.
As the afterglow fades, his eyes meet yours, a wistful, almost vulnerable expression on his face. "God... Can we do this till you come back?" he asks, his voice tinged with a hint of uncertainty.
A playful smirk tugs at your lips as you lean, a mock pout forming on your face. "Someone's needy," you tease, enjoying the way his brow furrows at your words, making him look like a cute puppy.
Jack rolls his eyes, a familiar gesture that never fails to amuse you. "Yeah, yeah," he grumbles, but there's no heat behind his words, only a fond exasperation. “I just miss you.”

According to this tweet from Endo, today's new chapter will be the final installment of the "Henry x Martha backstory" arc...and it definitely went out on a high note! The part where Martha meets Henry's wife was absolutely heartbreaking...in particular the below page, starting with an upside down view of the scene, showing how the world is literally warping for Martha, followed by shards and shreds of her various memories with Henry, all the while the "throb, throb" of her heart is overlaying all the panels. Definitely one of Endo's best portrayals of a truly shocking moment.

It's also interesting that we never see Lucia's face, despite her having a big panel when she first appears.

Endo has done this before with other characters, Loid's parents being the other big example. We also never see their faces, despite them appearing several times during his flashback arc.

With the few examples we've had, to me it seems like Endo hides the faces of characters who 1) appear as flashbacks only and 2) who have had a significant emotional impact on the character whose memories they appear in, but at the same time, that character has since done their best to get over the painful memories associated with them. So they basically represent some past trauma for the character (even if they don't necessarily dislike them) but in the current time, they've more or less left that part of their past behind. Hence why their faces are obscured in the character's memories. This is also why I think we'll never see Loid's parents or Lucia's faces outside of flashbacks. This is just my interpretation of course, and I'm curious if there will be more examples in other characters' flashback arcs.
But back to Henry and Martha, I also liked the fact that, despite her broken heart, Martha still saw Lucia as a good person and became friends with her. Henry seems to love her as well. This actually ties back very well to what Martha tells Becky at the end of her story about how dangerous it is to latch onto preconceptions and prejudices without knowing the truth.

In Becky's simple world, she would see Lucia as the "evil seductress who stole Henry away" and Martha has to get him back. But as Martha said, things aren't always that simple and don't always adhere to our preconceived notions. Sometimes things can't end up exactly how you want or expect, so you have to be grateful for what you have and see things as they truly are, despite living with lingering regrets. In fact, this whole speech from Martha at the conclusion of her flashback was extremely deep and profound. Not many people can write both comedy and drama so well, but Endo is certainly one of them.

Also, is this Wiesel's first appearance? Still waiting for the doggy play date chapter with Wiesel, Bond, Max, and Aaron! 🐶
Since it's been so long since I read the first chapter of this arc, I couldn't remember if Martha had actually revealed the identity of her lover in her story, but makes sense that she didn't. I can imagine Becky storming into school yelling at Henderson and causing total embarrassment for all 😅 Funny that she almost guessed correctly though.

I'm surprised we never found out how Martha started working for the Blackbells, but that's an easy enough mystery to solve - she needed work after the wars were over, and being a bodyguard suited an ex-soldier. Also seems like she never told Henry her true feelings either...maybe by the time Lucia died, it was too late and they had both grown somewhat apart by then, and/or they had some additional falling outs about Martha joining the other wars, etc. It just wasn't meant to be and the message of the story was Martha coming to terms with that and being wiser for it.
In conclusion, this was a great arc that really shows Endo's range as a writer who can do both comedy and drama very well. Despite Henry and Martha being side characters, I have a feeling that the struggles they experienced will have relevance later in the series. But for now, I look forward to seeing the Forgers and other characters again (and getting back to the last major uproar of Anya telling Damian about her powers...seems like ages ago, lol). Endo will be taking a well deserved break, so the next new chapter will be on August 19th!
I also have some new posts planned in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for those as well 😀

Every response where you say "I like it when people pay attention" I think to myself "I pay attention!"
And then you catch my lacking every time sans one.
I'm very proud of that one time, granted, so I can't wait for that reveal, but every single time something appears that I feel like I shoulda noticed, I just...
Keeping me humble, Akane!
On a related note, I wonder if those flowers will have any relevance (or if we've already seen them), tho at the same time it feels fitting for them to be red (and every other color, harhar) herrings...
I mean it's easy to oversee the details or just forget them, since the comic updates only once per week. I've had MANY people ask me if they missed something, since they didn't remember the Knight reveal from page 80. Or didn't understand the reason why Susie and Kris thought that Asgore made the Dark Fountain and then later assumed Toriel was the culprit. There are lines I SPECIFICALLY put in there that are hints to these things.
"That... came from your father's flower store, Kris..." "Opening Dark Fountains seems to run in your family, huh Kris?" "Your mother and him (Asgore) were heading to his store." "This looks EXACTLY like the start of the RUINS." "Wait a second... You met MOM in this RUINS place???" "So like... did you teach your mom how to make Dark Fountains, or something?
The whole Dark World hints towards it being Flowey. It partially looks like the Ruins, the place you first meet Flowey. The flower dragon is a representation of how he views himself. The vines look like the heart-shaped locket associated with Asriel and Chara. The Dark World is based on Acient Greece, which was BIG on their pantheon of gods, and Flowey does have a thing for becoming god-like. During their walk through the Not-Ruins they talk about Chara and Asriel's backstory. Lesslo says their knight has an "interesting sense of humor" and goes off how this Dark World is basically falling apart because of Flowey. And lastly Lesslo drops the "best friend forever" line, which CEMENTS that the Knight is Flowey.
Typically it should be easier to grasp during a full read-through.

May I ask for Astarion, Wyll, Shadowheart, and Gale having a 'Wait, why am I jealous?' realization of their romantic feelings for Tav? (For the record, Tav is romantically interested in the companion, too, because I can't handle angst right now 🥲)
Realizing They Have Feelings
Fandom: Baldur's Gate 3
Character(s): Astarion, Wyll, Gale, Shadowheart
Type of Request: Headcanons
Note(s): Might be tiny hints of angst just because of character backstory mentions, but I did my best with these for you!
Astarion
He doesn't get jealous. People get jealous because of him. And yet, the way he sees one of the harpers at Last Light look at you. That look of reverence for saving them.
One that almost looks at you like a god and a face that flusters when you catch their stare. Astarion, feels the twisting in his gut and it causes him to pause.
Yes he's flirted with you. He's lied and said he's into you. But now, he's not sure it's lies anymore.
And that scares him a bit. With how uncertain the future is, his survival, dealing with Cazador, well it's just a lot of uncertainty and does he even have the time to think of his feelings? Well, Astarion is nothing if not selfish.
Of course he knows your feelings towards him and that makes his admittance a bit easier on his part. The confessing about his intent on manipulating you was a bit harder to get off his tongue especially with the hurt you display.
But you accept his apology and Astarion is so lost on how an actual relationship or whatever you both have is supposed to go. But he's happy to explore it with you.
Gale
Gale flirts with you quite a bit. He doesn't even hide the fact that he finds you attractive. You have a very attractive face, why would he hide his affection? But it never really was anything beyond just simple flirtations.
And then he sees how that tiefling blacksmith smiles at you, how you smile back and he can't help pouting.
For a split second, he's a bit frightened that the weird feeling in his stomach is the orb before he sighs in relief that it's just jealousy.
And then he gets more pouty at the fact that he is jealous. Perhaps his fondness of your pretty face is about more than just your face.
It takes a bit of practicing his speech, redoing certain sections and sighing loudly at how ridiculous this is (but he also finds the amusement in it too).
Eventually, he tells you the truth of his affections. His harmless flirtations had evolved into actual romantic feelings towards you. And the brightest smile crosses his face as you return them. Now you just got to help him not explode and you'll be great.
Shadowheart
Shadowheart thought she was ready to kill Lae'zel before. But now she's hearing comments about your scent and how the gith wants to claim you.
The cleric can't help but scoff and take a sip of one of the thousands of bottles of alcohol that you have in your pack for some reason. Maybe she could throw one of the copies of Traveler's Guides books at her since you have so many copies for some reason.
What Shadowheart doesn't understand is why she's so upset. You're an adult, you can make your own decisions and enjoy yourself with whomever you wish.
And yet, you saved her. You've accepted her silence and wish to keep secrets. And it's at that moment, Shadowheart realizes that she's jealous and she can't help scoffing again because how did she get so pathetic?
She wants to stay silent, keep her feelings a secret as well, but she can't hold them back. Especially when her secrets are revealed to you and then you ask about her favorite flower of all things.
Her feelings end up coming out and instead of turning away and rejecting her (like she expected of all her reveals), you accept them as well. And even reciprocate. She's going to need another bottle of alcohol and this time, she hopes you join her in the drink.
Wyll
He's not really one for jealousy. A dash of disappointment, maybe, but he's got enough demons and devils that he doesn't need to think about the green one.
That's why whenever he sees you flirting with another, well it does give him some disappointment that perhaps he is too late due to his slow realization.
There's also some self consciousness that comes with it too. After all, Wyll isn't as charming or handsome as he once was with the new horns growing out of his head.
Still, he can't help but cherish the memories he had when asking for a dance and you agreeing.
Considering he had gotten this far with a dance, Wyll decides that he might as well tell you his feelings that have been slowly, but surely growing.
Imagine his surprise when you accept him, half-devil appearance and all. Wyll can't help finding his worries silly in hindsight, but he'll laugh at himself later. After he's had that dance.

𝐎𝐏 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 | 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒, 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐓𝐋𝐄 𝐒𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐒

With one hand raking through your hair, you kept the loose strands out of your eyes as the wind threatened to blind you. Your friends—three of the large crew of mercenaries that took you off Dawn Island—laughed alongside you. Your little boat rocked on the heavy seas, bounding up and down on the waves as the boat sped away from Marine Headquarters.
One of them clapped a hand on your shoulder, but you hardly heard what she said, her words like white noise against the chaos in your mind. Your whole body shook, shot with adrenaline. The oldest of your four came up beside you and fastened a rope. “Did you find what you’re looking for?”
You shook your head violently, prying a curious frown from the boy. “Then why’re you so happy?”
“I don’t know!” You laughed, unable to help it. You spotted a marine snapping a picture of your gleaming smile, knowing soon enough you’d have the bounty poster to show your success.
Marine Headquarters smoked with fires set by your friends—distractions so you could slink in and find Vice Admiral Garp for a brief chat. The toppled towers and buildings really sealed the deal on your legitimacy as a threat. You’d dragged the ground around underfoot, causing erosion and quaking as you made your escape. The Vice Admiral hadn’t been home, but you felt a kind of jubilation you never had before.
“I’m just… hopeful.”
Your friends met your smile tenfold, coming together as the nights drew on and the mornings promised a future side by side.
(A few years would pass before you got curious again, like a cat who forgot it hates water).
You and your three friends once again left the safety of the mercenary crew to venture off for your past. This time, you wouldn’t return. The four of you had a decent ship together, so it was finally time to start your own crew. Life was limitless.
“What if what you find isn’t what you hoped?” the eldest asked when you finally set off.
You gave him a shrug. “I move on.”
Unlike the first adventure for your origins, you found your target, the only one who could know anything about where you come from.
In routine formation, your comrades formed a distraction, luring Garp’s subordinates away from the ship so you could sneak your way to his office. Not a soul spotted you, your path unhindered as you ghosted down the halls and burst into his office. Vice Admiral Garp sat hunched at his desk, his eyes slowly lifting at your entrance. He looked entirely unsurprised.
“Your performance at Marine Headquarters was impressive,” he said, nodding to the seat in front of him. You remained standing, face hard.
“I won’t stay long, mostly because I know you’ll arrest me.” Your adoptive grandfather nodded. “But answer me this, please, for old time's sake?”
Garp waited patiently. You stole a breath and shoved the question out. “Who are my parents? Did you know them? How did you find me?”
He gazed softly at you, or as softly as he could manage, and denied the one request you’d ever asked of him. “I can’t do that.”
Your jaw hung open. “What?”
“I can’t.” Garp adjusted as if he was uncomfortable, like the words you needed sat awkwardly on his chest. “Trust me when I say you don’t want to know.”
All the years of almost fondness came crashing down as your eyes went steel-cold. “That’s not your decision to make, Vice Admiral.”
His eyes bored into yours. “I’m giving you five minutes.”
“Garp—”
“Four.” He stood, towering over you. “Four minutes to get out before I become a marine again.”
The situation was falling from your hands. You stepped toward him firmly. “Grandpa.” He made no move. “I need to know. Why was I left alone?”
Though his hand rested on his pistol, you never flinched or batted an eye. He wouldn’t hurt you, his granddaughter. Despite all your differences, despite the blood you didn’t share, surely that still held you together.
“Please,” you begged. The floor rumbled the longer your fists clenched. “Tell me.” His eyes darted up to meet your own. You nodded firmly. “I can handle it.”
Garp turned his back on you and heaved a sigh that shook his great shoulders, his brow pinched between two fingers. You had him. You knew you did. Any moment he would say a name, or a place, or anything that could lead you home. A home you’d never seen but felt deeply set in the cavern of your chest. And once you had it back, you’d be whole. Surely, this chasm created by the loss of your faux-brothers would be filled and you would be a full person once again—
“Red Hair.”
The floor stilled. The tide out at sea fell to a halt. On bated breath, you willed him to look you in the eye again. “Sorry?”
He had to have muttered. You heard wrong. Because those words with that tone could only mean one man, and if his answer truly was that man then your whole childhood you’d been on the cusp of fullness and he had to have known who you were, which meant many more things you couldn’t bear to think.
But Garp opened his eyes and glared down at the piece of rotting floor at his feet. “Red Haired Shanks brought you to Makino and left. Makino was too young, had too many worries. So I stepped in.”
The seafloor broke in tandem with your heart. Somehow, the whole crew survived the sinking of Garp’s ship—somehow your friends had been captured along the way, and somehow you managed to escape and leave them behind.
And ever since, the Silent Death roamed the seas, shaking islands and toppling cities in your wake, falling into anonymity as you lost every connection, every employer, every friend till the name was near forgotten.
Sometimes, though, in towns so small they don’t make it on a map, there are still whispers of the Earthshaker, swearing up and down there was something off about that girl ghosting down the street.
જ ⁀ ➴
You thought about that day often. How it ended. What it meant. Every time you found yourself happy, your laughter trailed off as the perfect image of Red Haired Shanks crossed your mind, or maybe it was the frightened looks on your friends' faces.
Either way, you slipped out of the conversation as swift as the wind, drawing into yourself and growing eerily quiet.
You liked to think yourself nonchalant, mysterious even, and no one could tell what went on behind your guise; not a single person on that crew could agree. As kind as your brother's friends were, they were nosey as hell.
The faster you could get away from them, the better.
It was just your luck Luffy’s next destination was the damn sky.
Luffy always knew how to defy the laws of the universe, always fooling around until gravity and physics gave way under his touch—but this was something else, even for him. The thought struck you as the Going Merry rode the knock-up stream, clinging to the mast as the pressure of the wind made your skin feel like it was going to fly right off.
Though bleary vision you gazed up at your brother. He held onto his hat for dear life, the sound of his laughter overpowering the roaring waters of the geyser. The Luffy I knew could only ever dream of this. He was much stronger than the brother you left behind, and you suppose he had these friends of his to thank for that. The whole crew was crazy beyond compare; the Strawhat Pirates deserved each other, belonged together.
You hugged the mast closer as the brightness of the sun broke through the storm. Do I belong anywhere? You didn’t have the chance to fathom an answer. The Going Merry burst from the clouds and made a beautiful arc across the sky before plummeting down to meet the waters of the White Sea.
જ ⁀ ➴
The bonfire twisted and turned ferociously at the center of the celebration. What was being celebrated? You didn’t have a clue, but at least everyone was having fun. Luffy certainly was, dancing hand-in-paw with the weird wolves of the Upperyard.
He was so happy that it made you a little sick inside. When you first joined Luffy on his ship, you thought maybe, just maybe, your luck would turn around. You wouldn’t feel so alone anymore, not with your brother at your side… but he wasn’t at your side. He was at theirs, these new friends he’d gathered. His new family.
Luffy never did need you, not like you needed him, but he’d always been there. Now, sitting at the edge of the campsite, Luffy felt miles away on a jovial island where he got everything he ever wanted: a ship, a crew, a quest of sorts.
The issue was that you didn’t know what you wanted. How could you reach for something you couldn’t name?
Robin moved from her place in the outskirts to join you in yours, settling down beside you. Her eyes glimmered and reflected the fire as it rose to its highest peak.
“You’ve been quiet ever since we landed at the altar,” she said.
You hugged your knees to your chest. “I haven’t had anything to say.”
“I doubt that.” Robin cast you a sideward glance. “You seem far away.”
You jazzed your hands with a dismissive air. “Hate to disagree, but I’m right here, Miss All Sunday.”
It was like the air around her shriveled up and choked you violently. Robin narrowed her eyes into slits as she turned away. “That’s not my name. Not anymore.”
“I know,” you quipped, only a little sorry. “It still rings though, doesn’t it?”
She stood with a final huff and trudged to join Zoro at a nearby log. Alone again. How you tended to be. It became more and more natural with every passing day. You rested your head on your knees to block out the sounds. You missed Ace. You missed Sabo. And despite his close proximity, you missed Luffy.
Nothing was turning out how it was supposed to. Nothing…
You wondered if you somehow made your way back to Dadan, then you would realize she was the family you’d never appreciated… but that was stupid. She hated taking care of you. You stood silently and turned to wander into the forest simply because you felt like making stupid decisions. Besides, maybe being alone would make everything make sense.
You hadn’t made it five minutes before someone called your name and you stopped, sighing sharply. Luffy stumbled through the brush to chase after you, a smile planted on his face despite the perplexed quirk of his brow.
“You know, most people walk into the woods to be alone,” you huffed.
Luffy’s brows vaulted. “Why would you wanna be alone? Everyone’s having so much fun. And it’s dangerous out here too.”
Searching for an answer, you took to leaning on a wide tree, propping your foot up against it. “I wasn’t having fun. I just—need to be by myself. Okay?”
He didn’t understand one bit, that much was clear from how he plopped himself down on the ground. Luffy crossed his arms with an expectant flair, nodding to the space right in front of him. You rolled your eyes, considered bolting into the dark, and eased yourself onto the dirt.
Ever since you were kids, Luffy would occasionally get this contemplative look about him. It frightened you to no end, especially now that he was older and grown into himself.
“What happened?” he blurted.
“What do you mean?” you asked, head tilted. He could be so cryptic.
Luffy readjusted to lean forward a bit, the look in his eyes scrutinizing you head to toe. “I mean that you’re acting weird. Did something happen?”
You puffed indignantly. “I’m not acting weird.”
“Are too.”
“Am not.”
It was childish, maybe, but it didn’t stop you from glaring with an apparent pout on your face. Luffy rolled his eyes exaggeratedly. “Are too. Everyone can tell.”
You glared with all you had till it fell apart in a shouted whisper. “Everyone?”
He gave a firm nod. “Yep.”
Begrudgingly, you grunted and stomped over to sit in front of him, your crossed knees touching his. “I don’t believe you.”
“Well, I noticed.” Then there was that. “Something’s wrong and I can’t fix it unless you tell me.”
An empty laugh peeled out of you. “You can’t just fix this, Luffy.” You can’t just fix me.
“Try me,” Luffy challenged, and if there was one thing he knew about you, it was that you never turned down a challenge. Or, at least that’s how he remembered you. But when you met his gaze and all he saw was something so starkly grey and sad, he realized just how dire the situation was. You’d lost your spark. “C’mon. Tell me.”
“Luffy…”
“Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me~”
“Shut up!”
“You fess up!”
With a growl almost feral you launched yourself at him, hands clawing at his shoulders as he rolled over and tried to get the upper hand. You kicked at his gut and flipped over once more, glaring down at him.
“Stupid!” he shouted, pushing at your face and accidentally pressing on your eye, dragging a shriek from you.
“Idiot!” You yelped as he shoved you off and sent the two of you tumbling down a short hill until you rolled to a stop in a patch of wild grass. Chest heaving, you stared at the night sky through the trees, listening to Luffy grumble about a bruise in his belly.
Finally calming your pulse, you lolled onto your side and glared with the fire of a thousand suns—until that flame fizzled out instantly, exhaustion winning over. Luffy sat up roughly and you eased yourself up too, your heart picking up pace as the words bubbled up within you.
“You wanna know why I’ve been so… weird?” You met his eyes tentatively, finding not an ounce of anger or teasing anywhere in his gaze. Only genuine seriousness, a rare sight in your brother.
“Well, yeah.”
You puffed a sigh. “I don’t know if you ever knew, but I’ve always kinda wondered about where I come from, who my parents were. Dadan didn’t know, and Garp was never around…”
“I never knew that,” Luffy said to himself, brows taut.
“I never really mentioned it, but it mattered to me, y’know? To know where I was born… to who.” Instantly thoughts and worries washed over you. You closed in on yourself, arms wrapped around folding knees.
Luffy shifted closer. “Did you ever find out?”
You couldn’t dare to look at him. What would he do if he knew? You’d both known Shanks, followed him around, pestered him with questions. He was Luffy’s hero. What exactly would this do to him?
“I found out.” Luffy ducked around to catch your fleeting gaze, draining the air from you. That hat was snug on his head, red ribbon dull in the darkness. “I don’t think I should tell you.”
Rolling his eyes, Luffy flopped over dramatically into the grass, taking to carding his hands through the soft blades. “Just spit it out already. Nothing you say is gonna make me think differently ‘bout you.”
“I… I went to see Grandpa a few months ago with some friends on my old mercenary crew. I stormed in and forced him to tell me. Never was able to leave well enough alone… I got so freaked out that I sank his ship and got my friends captured. And I just ran away. I never looked back.”
“Ace said you were in a tough spot,” Luffy hummed. “I didn’t really get it. So, you gonna tell me what’s the matter?”
Always to the point. You tried to crack your neck but the satisfying snap never came, only leaving an uncomfortable strain in your muscles. You lifted your heavy gaze and settled him with a final, hard look.
“Shanks.” As soon as you shoved the word out a heavy weight lifted off your chest. Luffy tilted his head even as understanding washed over his expression, as if he refused to process what you meant. “Shanks is my father, Luffy.”
The silence was palpable, sticking to your skin like tar, filling your throat and choking out all the air. That weight was back tenfold now, triggered by Luffy’s stiffness. “Luffy?
“Sorry,” he said with a shake of his head, blinking out of a daze. “I just don’t understand. He never said anything.”
“I know, but why would Grandpa lie? It kinda makes sense. Shanks always had this look when he looked at me, like he… like he regretted something big. A kind of wince.”
His jaw set all of a sudden, his hand raising to take his precious straw hat off his head and hold it in his lap. The both of you stared at it a long time before he mumbled, “Are you mad?”
That was the question, sucking in a breath and releasing it roughly. “Honestly? I don’t think so. Yeah, it was a dick move to stick around the island but never say anything, and I’m kinda frustrated Makino never said anything either, but what would it have changed?”
“Then why’re you so upset?”
“‘Cause I…” I don’t have a place. I thought maybe I came from a solid ground that I could return to and feel whole again. But I was born a drifter and a drifter I’ll die. “I don’t really know.”
Luffy set his hat on your lap. “You wanted a home, right?”
Your brother was always oddly perceptive. You tried to answer but the words got caught on the way up, a strangled sound leaving you at that familiar burn of tears rose in the back of your throat. “I guess. It’s stupid.”
His hands grabbed your shoulders and jerked you around to get your attention. Luffy wore his signature grin. “You don’t need Shanks. You’ve got me and Ace, and my crew too.”
You couldn’t help but scoff as you wiped at your eyes. “They don’t care about me.”
“What? Of course they do!” Luffy shook you gently. “They all like you, and they’re worried about you too.”
“Really?” You sniffled miserably, daring to believe him.
He nodded and dropped his hands only to light up and slap your shoulder. “You wanted to join my crew, right?”
“I-I never said that,” you choked.
“But you do.” Luffy was getting excited excited. “I miss you. I miss our adventures.”
“Well, yeah, me too…”
“So join my crew!”
The offer was tantalizing, hanging just overhead like a delicious fruit. “I… can’t. This is your place, your family.”
“It can be your place too.” As true as that may be, it would never feel like it. You’d be stuck feeling like Luffy’s add-on sister.
And so it struck you oddly. A thought you’d felt in the back of your mind for months now. All your life you’d felt out of place and on the side. Your origins didn’t provide an out, and your brothers couldn’t do that either. What you needed, you realized, was a home you made yourself.
“I know,” you nearly whispered. “But I know there’s somewhere out there for me. A place that’s mine.”
Luffy only let himself wallow in the disappointment two seconds before he smiled scantly and flicked at your forehead, drawing a startled blink out of you. “Then I’ll help you find it.”
Your jaw hung slightly as he rose to his feet and reached out a hand for you. Swallowing thickly, you smiled and took it firmly in yours. He pulled you to your feet and braced for impact as you all but threw yourself at him.
“I have missed you,” you mumbled. “More than you know, big brother.”
You bolted away the moment Luffy let slip a gasp, cackling into the wind as he collected his wits and took off after you.
“So you admit it!”
“No one will believe you! Haha!”
“Hey—No fair!”

bonus..
All around the camp, the party fizzled out as one by one the wolves and pirates alike drifted off to sleep.
She stood on the outskirts just like she had been earlier, yet now she held this inexpressible content look about her. Even with a slight smile, she was probably the scariest woman you’d ever seen. Stealing a breath, you headed over.
“Uhm, Robin?” Her smile fell instantly, brows rising just so. Welp, it was now or never. “I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I know that’s not who you are anymore and it was—insolent of me to do that.”
Robin’s eyes took you in like some kind of hawk, seeming to relish in your discomfort, till finally a grin chanced its way across her face. “It’s all right, I suppose. Thank you.”
You nodded gratefully and were just about turned to leave when she said, “I trust you figured yourself out, then?”
You glanced over your shoulder, unsure. “I think so. Yeah, I think so.”
She smiled. “Good.”
