Okay so I’m not really a shipper usually (aroace) but I think the shipping discourse in the Slay the Princess fandom is gonna be insane.
There’ll be the normies who just ship Princess/Hero or whatever.
Then there’s gonna be people who ship specific versions of the protagonist with different versions of the princess, such as The Broken/The Tower. Probably ones that don’t canonically interact, either, such as, I don’t know, The Stubborn/The Beast or something terrible like that.
Then we’ll get even crazier and start shipping versions of characters with themselves. Like, I don’t know, The Hero/The Contrarian. Real Once-ler ass shit y’know.
We’ll have insane arguments over which characters belong together and which ones shouldn’t, whether or not a certain pairing lines up with plot or characterization or something, and whether it’s “ethical” to ship different timelines of the same person or whatever. I for one can’t wait for the madness to unfold.
And of course there’s gonna be like one person who ships all 69 versions of the princess in one giant polycule commune fanfiction or something

My Twisted Wonderland Guest Room layout:
I got, like… two more things to make it complete for me, which is replacing the sofa with the Heartslaybul one (I am missing one (1) large gem and this game REFUSES to drop it for me, it’s been weeks 😤) and replacing the rug under the sofa with the Diasomnia one. Thank god we got the event bonus for Book 6 dropping because my thaumarks was in the TRENCHES making all this damn furniture 😭
But I want Jamil to think of Ramshackle as his new home so I work to keep my man happy! 😂
Things that rock about the Guest Room addition:
You can watch the students interact with furniture and then randomly fight each other
Building your room theme around certain characters’ dorms and/or style preferences causes them to say different stuff each time they visit
Raising your card’s level above whatever cap it is through Friendship levels
HGTV enthusiasts love playing designer (it’s me, I’m the HGTV enthusiast)
Gives you something else to work towards in between events other than mindless lesson grinding
The Crafter’s Gauntlet is a fun way to flesh out your roster since they force you to use certain characters for the battles
Easy General Mission accomplishments through the making of furniture and accumulation of Room Tokens = more gems for pulls
Things that suck about the Guest Room addition:
Placing furniture is very clunky and awkward; you can’t rotate things how you’d like all the time, there’s unavoidable dead space, and some shit just looks off-center no matter what you do
Material drop rates SUCK ASS. So, just like the stingy lesson drops
They absolutely need to label, with words, what gems drop on certain days because the color difference between Scarabia & Heartslaybul / Pomefiore & Octainville is too subtle
If you place too many of the same type of furniture down your comfort level drops, so you have to mix it up even if it’s not aesthetically pleasing to do so
Being forced to craft furniture you will never use just to raise your room rank. Materials are too scarce and thaumarks are too precious for all dat
It’s ambiguous as hell trying to figure out what actually increases the rate in which your Friendship level goes up. I only ever get “Good” with each invite no matter what I do
Overall tho, pretty fun! I want to see what other folks do with their guest rooms, so if you got a layout you’re proud of, show it to me! 😄

Well-Spoken Woman!
Certainly, Anna!
A Well-Spoken Woman is Jily from the POV of Euphemia. Euphemia, despite also having received prejudice across her lifetime, is far more uncertain of Lily’s muggleborn heritage than she first appears.
I love this fic, and I think it has a lot to say, but it deals with some incredibly sensitive topics that I’m just not sure I’m ready to fully tackle yet. I hope to get back to it someday but not likely for a few months. Nonetheless, here’s a snippet I don’t entirely hate:
“Oh, you do know how to make your old mother happy, James.” She threaded her arm through his and he took it enthusiastically, like the gentleman she hoped she’d raised. “You know, I have plenty for you to borrow: Kipling, Waugh, Dickens, and of course, our darling Henry James.”
“What about James Baldwin? Harper Lee?” He wiggled a little under her arms. “My err… friends have recommended these.”
Friends, indeed. Why did these boys struggle to be so open?
“Friends? A lady friend, perhaps, James?”
“Well, yeah, but she’s just a friend, Mum.”
There was that almost blush again…
“Is it that smart girl Lily again?”
His head dipped in a nod, and she thought of how much she had learnt from Fleamont. How much — she hoped — he had learnt from her. Their perfect home home filled with Potions and literature. Each encouraging the other to be the best. Inspiring from time to time too. It was only right to want the very same for her son.
“She must be a whizz at Muggle Studies,” Euphemia said encouragingly, eager to hear more.
James laughed. It was an earnest, loud laugh.
“She doesn’t need to be, Mum. She’s Muggleborn.”
Somewhere off in the distance there was the humming sirens of a Muggle ambulance.
“Oh.” Euphemia’s hands suddenly felt a little clammy. “How nice.”
“Don’t go getting ideas, though, Mum. She really is just a friend.”
“Of course, darling,” she replied. But James spoke about her all the way to the tea shop anyway.
(Btw, so sorry this took so long. Most of this fic is written down by hand at the moment and I’d rather share from there, so I had to find a time to type this out.)
