I think the worst thing about having very vague/spotty memories because I was so young when it happened is feeling like I can’t ever fully accept that it DID happen. birds chirped from the balcony as the sun shone into your apartment. in your bedroom, you slept peacefully with your girlfriend, minji, by your side. the sun had seeped its way through the curtains and onto the bed, even in your sleep, you could feel the warmth of the sun. 

you were awoken from movement in the bed; it seemed like minji was already awake. since when did she wake up early on her days off? you felt a soft kiss be placed upon your temple, making you melt into the covers. you listened to your girlfriend get out of bed and tip-toe out of the toom. when she left, you reached out for a teddy bear, left on minji’s side of the bed. you brought it close and snuggled into it before falling back to sleep.

you don’t know how long you’ve been asleep, but you woke up to a hand stroking your hair. you groggily hummed to the contact as slowly opened your eyes. you were still incredibly sleepy, ready to fall back to sleep in mere seconds.

“morning, sunshine,” you heard minji say. you’re not so sure if that’s what she said, the sleepiness messing with all your senses. 

you looked up to your girlfriend, squinting through tired eyes to try and see her clearer. you didn’t have your glasses on so, combined with how tired your eyes were, you could barely see anything. you blinked slowly a few times before you saw minji’s face a bit more clearer. despite not having glasses on, her beauty blinded you. you knew she was serving face at, what time was it? 9 am? sometimes, it baffles you how you pulled such a divine girl. you almost wanted to go back to sleep because of how much she glowed under the morning sun, it was too much.

“who are you? and why are you radiating with beauty right now?” you said groggily. through heavy eyes, you could still see minji smile softly with her cheeks going pink.

you still hadn’t gotten your glasses yet, so the plate kind of looked like a blob with a light brown blob on top of it. you reached out for your glasses on the bedside table to look at what your girlfriend had cooked up this time. 

“one singular pancake?” you asked, taken aback at how utterly normal this one singular pancake looked. 

you turned your head towards your girlfriend, who wore a big, proud smile. 

“bon appetit i guess!” you muttered before barehanding your pancake since minji forgot to give you utensils. but who would even need utensils when eating one simple pancake?

“so, how is it?” minji asked, still flashing a big ol’ smile at you.

“minji.. it's a singular pancake. what do you expect me to say?” you chuckled, but your expression soon dropped as you watched minji’s eyebrows furrow.

you felt a pang of guilt hit you for not complimenting her pancake. she did go out of her way to wake up early AND cook breakfast.

Anyways, the Funtimes were coded to be more friendly with her, not kill-y like CB when she malfunctioned and did what she was supposed to do to other kids. And even though William kinda like, eventually just straightup left her in there because he couldn’t stand to face what he’d done- she’s stuck, physically AND mentally. Imagine going through that, as a kid. She’s not like, 5 years old or something but she’s young, twelve years old when she dies, and I know when I was that age, there was times I’d break down and want nothing other than the comfort of my parents(still do!!), and I wanted the little comic doodles to show some of that! There’s no excuse for the things she does, or the person she becomes(murder-y too), but there IS reasonings, which is very different. I was very minimal with the shading on this guy cuz I just needed a design ref for an animatic I’m working on! Though the way I shaded his skin here makes him look a little plastic-y, which is fitting I think! Cuz he’s dead.

I did try to make him vaguely a little blue in the face with purplish/blue lips because Elizabeth at least gives him the mercy of strangulation to death, so he won’t have to. Yknow. Get gutted AS consciously, he was still a bit conscious tho. (Also the tooth gap is from pliers eek)

Also- I wanted to make sure it’s also clear she missed her mom, but her dad was her main source of comfort. So, just wanted to take a peek into that psyche; just a kid, who ended up doing some really horrible things, wants her parent back and cannot- rather, refuses to- fathom the type of person said parent really was.

It was the weekend and you were hoping that you would be able to see miles if you stayed up long enough, you knew he hated the fact that you would stay up to such an ungodly hour just to see him check up on you, but you couldn’t help it this time. You haven’t seen him since early this week and you really missed him, FaceTime calls and texts helped but you wanted him. You wanted to feel his touch or his weirdly comforting dark presence, you wanted to know if he was okay- wait what time was it? You looked at your clock digital white clock to see it was almost 2 am. You quickly sat up and searched for your phone underneath the bedsheets before finding it, unlocking it only to find no new text messages from miles. Your heart sank, what if he was hurt? What if he got shot? What if he never comes home?

So many what-ifs ran through your mind you didn’t even feel the the tears that blurred your vision and ran down your cheeks, you grabbed the plushie that Miles had gotten for you on your birthday and held it close too your chest. It still smelt like him, tears streamed down your face as you worried for your boyfriends safety. You heard your heartbeat in your ears, only wanting to hear his to calm you down- “Ma?” Your head quickly shot up and looked to your window, “Miles?” You froze, just staring at him in the dark making out every feature you could to verify it indeed was our boyfriend, who climbed into your apartment and walked towards your side of the bed. “Why are you cryin? Did someone threaten you mami?” His tone serious as he cupped your face, wiping away your tears with his thumb. You slowly shook your head no, “I..I thought something happened to you. You didn’t text me it was late I thought-“ You couldn’t fathom the mere idea of miles being dead and broke down in tears. “Hey hey mami, I’m here. I got held up and had to take care of sum bullshit, but I’m sorry.” He sitting down on your bed, he lifted you into his lap. One arm going under your knees and the other one on your upper back, you instantly buried your face into the crook of his neck.

Your arms clinging onto him tight as your tears continued to fall, your body now leaning fully on him. The sight of you so broken and scared made miles rethink the idea of being the prowler, if it meant that there was a 50/50 chance of something like this happening again he wanted out. He hated seeing you like this. Miles’s hands now shifted one on your lower back, the other on the back of your head. “I’m sorry princesa,” He whispered into your ear, his tone soft as he pressed a kiss to your cheek. You looked up at him with happy and yet sad eyes before looking back down and nuzzling your head further into his neck. Then a hand that was gripping the collar loosened and went down to hug his torso, “Promise me something miles, please.” “Anything amor.” “Always keep me updated, I don’t want to assume th-that your-“ Your voice started to waver before miles shushed you and rubbed soothing circles into your waist with his thumb. “I promise, and that won’t ever fuckin happen ma.” You inhaled his scent, the smell of expensive cologne and rain making you feel safe. “Please stay the night.” You asked, your voice sounding small seeming as though you thought he would say he couldn’t “I will mi amor.” He pressed another kiss to your forehead and his grip on you tightened, “I won’t leave you alone.”

Miles knew he would get lectured for not reporting back to uncle Aron that night, but he didn’t care. At that moment at 2:23 am, all he could possibly care about is you. The angel he held in his arms.

long rant coming up regarding sakura; and to preface, i’m a sakura defender until the day i die, so if you have an issue w her, gtfo and scroll on by 🫶🏼

the amount of hatred this girl got and still gets is so trifling to me. like, i was in the trenches defending her in like 2019-2022. and my love and defense of her reignited bc ive been getting more sakura videos on my tiktok fyp.

now, most of the reasons why people reason they hate sakura is always the same recycled explanations of her being “useless”, too obsessed w sasuke, she’s annoying, and while not a new argument, her confession scene to naruto lying that she loved him being what sparked this post from me in the first place.

i could sit here for days and go on & on about how much of that reasoning is purely rooted in misogyny which isn’t surprising within both the naruto fandom, and anime fandom in general with the amount of brain dead “anime dude bros” unfortunately filling these spaces up.

but in addition to the blatant misogyny of how women are all talked about, displayed, written, and treated within a lot of shounen anime, there just seems to be some kind of mind numbing wall in the minds of sakura haters who simply don’t want to acknowledge her genuine character development. it’s not even complex thinking, people just want to hate her. it’s always been some incessant band wagon to hate her for no real rooted reason. you can dislike her personality, that’s objective at the end of the day, but to say she never changed and developed is what gets me going.

i find her to be the one of the most humane & raw out of the characters. she has flaws yes, but she learns and grows and again, changes!

a lot of it comes down to a lack of understanding, empathy, and just plain old double standards. people shit on her for liking sasuke as if she wasn’t a child. her affections for him carried on in their teens in shippuden, but she had a real purpose. it wasn’t fangirling anymore. but oh when naruto is deadass dreaming about this man, going even crazier & losing his mind over sasuke, it’s okay? like sakura’s the obsessed one? naruto’s even worse 😭 don’t pmo. both of them were willing to do crazy shit for him. but of course it’s wrong when sakura does it.

the useless argument is the in fact, the dumbest one. she’s canonically the strongest kunoichi (argue w a wall atp if you disagree, idc) as is present time. not only did she go on to become one of the pillars of konoha, but her role as a medic ninja is insanely overlooked. which is crazy bc more than half of the cast would be dead if not for her. being useful does not equate to just combat. the only time that argument held true was is in the very first part of naruto when they were all 12 still bc she genuinely was just being saved by naruto & sasuke all the time. but guess what, development happens!!! but so many people hate to admit that for some reason.

now to what brought this whole entire rant to light - her treatment towards naruto is always a reason people antagonize her. a lot of the times i need to remember that a majority of her haters consist of pathetic men, sorry not sorry. they can’t fathom rejection in an appropriate way. they couldn’t handle her rejecting naruto all the time so they resort to shaming her as a woman.

her and naruto have truly experienced everything together; no one really understands how profound sasuke’s absence was to them, and only they understand it. on top of that, their growing friendship in shippuden and unwavering loyalty & support to one another was so prominent. when we talk about her fake confession to naruto, it needs to be understood that it’s not a black and white situation; it was the concept of “doing the wrong things for the right reasons”. her lying to naruto wasn’t right, but she was guilt ridden & emotional. she ultimately tried to protect naruto bc she couldn’t handle watching him self destruct over trying so hard to get sasuke back. she thought it’d stop him. and when he saw through it bc they were both desperate & hurting, she still decided to try to go after sasuke to kill him FOR naruto to ease his burden and heartache. it truly isn’t that complex to see that.

again, you don’t have to agree or like her decision but understanding it isn’t rocket science. it’s crazy how many people lack compassion & empathy towards her as if she wasn’t a literal teenager in the midsts of war. she was acting on emotion bc she was hurting & impulsive. none of the choices sakura & naruto made regarding sasuke were ever based on rationale, are you kidding me. but again to emphasize, they were teens in a war.

at the end of the day, you don’t have to like her character. but the lengths people will go to try and invalidate her development and simply just villainize her to the extent they do is insane as if she wasn’t a 16 year old for a majority of the series. i don’t even see people get this upset over fucking danzo or orochimaru.

but they could never make me hate her.

I feel compelled to expand upon the previous fae/folklore! Batboys headcanons:

-Bruce is just a straight up normal human. I think this provides a great opportunity for angst because unlike his immortal? children Bruce does age and it terrifies them. And Bruce is young he’s in his early 30s but like his knees will crack a little or his back is slightly stiff after a bad patrol and it just sends them into a spiral because they cannot fathom their dad not being around forever. I can definitely imagine them trying to strong arm Bruce into becoming some flavor of unaging. You could go super dark or just more generally emotional angst but damn the possibilities.

-Cass is giving me shadow person. Very cryptid of her. I’m not sure that I have a clear backstory for her worked out yet. Either magic gone wrong or she’s another flavor of undead like Jason and Tim. I like to imagine she just hovers over people at night to be creepy.

-Originally I wanted to say Duke was a Will-o-the-wisp. But I’m not really sure it fits, especially since he’s primarily active during the day. Then it hit me. Mothman. My lamplight boy is a moth creature. I like the idea of him hiding his little antenna under a beany and wearing sunglasses. The wings would be difficult. But my boy is creative.

- I think Steph and Barbara are also human like Bruce they just are extra bad ass.

-Coming back to life as a magical creature warps peoples memories and emotions from both the trauma and changing into something not human. Tim is significantly less effected than Jason, at least outwardly, because he was only a toddler when he died so he didn’t have many memories or experiences to draw from, but Jason was super volatile. His memories surrounding Willis became even more dark while his memories of his mother sort of glossed over her absentee parenting and drug use. Jason can’t help but struggle with associating the negative learned experience he had with his first paternal figure with Bruce. Jason ends up going to live with Talia for a while because he doesn’t want to feel that way about his dad anymore.

-Basically I think Jason, at least mentally, is the most human of Bruce’s kids besides Damian because he actually lived a life as a human, where as Tim changed so young that he doesn’t really know how to be anything but his extremely disturbing self.

-I think Gotham just has major ‘I do not see it’ energy. Like The Batfamily? Demons from hell. The Wayne’s? Hot neurodivergent people. Did you see Dick Grayson unhinge his jaw like a fucking snake at a gala? No you didn’t he just has a really big smile. Jason Todd??? Has scales??? Nope actually he just developed early onset Eczema and he’s really self conscious about it how dare you! Tim Drake sucking the blood of the himbo blonde boy? Everyone knows Tim and Bernard are total freaks. Cassandra Cain is your sleep paralysis demon? Honestly fair.

-It’s totally a coincidence that strange misfortune befalls anyone who threatens the Wayne’s!

-Clark is Bruce’s favorite man to sleep on so he gets a pass. I don’t know why but a midwestern spin on the story of princess kaguya lives in my head rent free. Like Martha Kent is just shucking corn and then boom baby in the corn. We call that children of the corn. I still love to imagine him being like so perfect that it’s high key alien, but his little sharp nails and fangies! Maybe even slightly pointy ears. And like Clark fully thinks he is human, like his parents don’t tell him humans can’t fly until he’s in kindergarten, and even then they just tell him he is special and learned super fast and shouldn’t embarrass the other kids and Clark is such a Good BoyTM that he just never uses his powers in public cause he doesn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable. Like bro doesn’t learn he is adopted until he is about to go to college, he is just straight up clueless.

-Clark learns Dick is a Fae creature when Batman brings Robin to the Watchtower cause he couldn’t get a baby sitter and Alfred doing some spooky shit like dusting the mausoleum. Like Batman just slinking around but there is this super colorful child with him. And then Dick turns and smiles and it’s just so wrong, like his mouth just stretching his face like some horror movie shit. Clark almost shots himself cause like what the fuck. Bruce told Dick to just ‘be himself’ so like he just thinks he’s being friendly. Despite being creepy as all hell Clark kinda thinks Dick is super adorable. Like was he spider crawling around the floor with all his limbs bent the wrong way while Bruce and Clark were talking? Yeah but then he just tugged on Bruce’s cape to ask for a juice box, like that’s a baby.

-Jason freaked him out in a different way. Since Jason is undead he doesn’t have a heartbeat and doesn’t need to breath so when he isn’t moving he makes literally zero noise. When he first met Clark he was just watching him from around corners and behind stair banisters and Clark was convinced he was losing his mind and hallucinating the kid from the Grudge. Then Bruce is just like “Oh you met Jason! He’s so sweet, just a little shy. He’s my second oldest! I think he likes you though.” And then a little grey blue slightly webbed hand just reaches around the corner to give a little wave and boom Clark would kill for him.

-Tim is similar in that Clark has trouble pinpointing his location because of a lack of normal bodily functions, but Tim has no idea what a boundary is. So like at first he’s a shy little toddler and then that night he’s crawling all over Clark and pranking him nonstop.

-Damian is a baby but like Clark looked in his eyes and just felt like this infant could see his past present and future and was judging him heavily. Clark was relieved cause at least he had a heartbeat.

-Cass lives to fuck with Clark. She’s Jason’s age but not only has no heartbeat and doesn’t breath, when she is in shadow form he can’t see her with X-ray vision. She can literally make herself undetectable to Superman. He learns this one night sleeping in a guest room at the manor. He gets the feeling he is being watched but can’t find anyone. Then right when he relaxes her arm shoots out from the darkness under his bed and grabs his leg. Clark screams so loud it cracks the window. And then just nearly silent muffled laughter as the arm retreats into the darkness. He X-Ray visions but nothing is there. He demands to stay in Bruce’s room after that. Bruce is just like “Oh that was just Cass. She likes playing practical jokes, she is my little princess!”

Also at pride there was a kid with a “free hugs from your little brother” sign, I assume the idea (other than him wanting to get a bunch of hugs) is similar to the dad hug thing for people who don’t have a good relationship to their family anymore, and imma be real, just imagining having a little brother who I couldn’t see anymore because of family bullshit and then seeing this kid at pride, a scenario I can’t even fathom because I have neither a little brother, nor a homophobic close family, still makes me a little choked up. I gave him a hug and told him it’s from a big bro and he just fucking beamed at me like nobody had ever hugged him before.

i know this is like. minus fourth world problems + autism, and maybe other fandoms have similar issues — i’ve never gone too deep into fandom spaces before and regret doing so — but. why are doctor who fans such incurable haters. i started watching in november after the specials aired and although i’ve been severely critical of certain unfortunate writing choices (as is my right. episodes that suck are… bad) i couldn’t fathom hating an entire series, an entire doctor’s/companion’s run let alone an entire showrunner’s tenure. you mean you can’t stand any of it??

it almost feels like… whenever i come across a person that loves to talk about nine and ten and donna and how much they loved wild blue yonder or w/e, they end up being a shallow moffat hater harping on about misogyny and one-dimensional women as if later series didn’t exist. whenever i find a fellow twelveclara understander who posts about missy and defends hell bent etc. suddenly i come across a post about how they hate rose? what could possibly compel you to dislike the character of rose tyler? i say this as somebody that isn’t a huge fan of tentoo. for more batshit examples saw a post along the lines of “don’t say you think tenmartha is interesting and then post about timepetals” like these are Characters bro. they’re not going to get sad. they are vehicles for the story they’re not people. tenrose was the carrier of the narrative in s2 and tenmartha in s3 and saying i enjoy the complexity of both of these relationships as they progress isn’t contradictory because that’s… the direction that the story takes????????

i don’t even hate chibnall era. even s11 has some redeemable bangers. what i mean is i fell in love with the show as a WHOLE . which means EVERY part of it is important to me and i don’t discount it. every next development builds on the previous. the timeless child ruined a lot of things but opened up many new avenues for exploration! i like the flux i like thasmin i like dhawan master i like the fugitive doctor i love dan and karvanista
