Look, I just got new hearing aids today and they can connect to Bluetooth so for the past…three hours I was listening to some of my favorite songs on repeat and I swear, something is altered in my brain chemistry right now because I’m enjoying this so much that I’m fucking hallucinating my favorite fictional characters.
Like I’m vibing so hard to the tunes that I’m transcending universes or something and it’s so fucking weird cause this is something I did so often as a kid and I haven’t gotten lost in my imagination in this specific way in soooooo long.
I think I’ve unlocked a special skill or something.
#the life of me#kate rambles#the fuck is going on#I should not be seeing Leland in my apartment while listening to these songs#they’re not even Leland-y songs! it’s my favorite Disney songs!!!!#the fuck is wrong with me#but the emotional vibes are HIGH right now#I wonder what this would be like if I was drunk#I blame Michael Emerson and his eyes#but this is a fun time I gotta say#hearing aids

Shout-out to @midnight-in-santa-carla! I saw your tags on that post (we all know the one) and thought why not? Here's some NSFW Michael and David for you, and I hope you enjoy. :)
Also on AO3
***
"I'm gonna get you for this, Emerson."
Under other circumstances, this might have been intimidating, but as it is, Michael is barely even impressed. Maybe it's the pitiful, frustrated whine that has taken the place of David's usual devil-may-care attitude that does it. Maybe it's that Michael has been working him over with hands and mouth for ages now and it's hardly the first time the threat has been issued that takes the sting out of it. Maybe it's that every time Michael thinks this is surely it, the moment when David finally goes over the edge, his eyes flash yellow and his fangs lengthen dangerously and yet there is never any release.
What Michael does know is that this is a lot more fun than he'd anticipated.
Blame it on Sam and those cheesy comics he'd left lying around. Michael had caught a glimpse of a panel featuring a cartoonishly frightened damsel in distress and a wizened old man assuring her in a cramped little speech bubble, "Don't worry, miss! Vampires can't come inside without permission!" And in his own defense, how was he not supposed to put it to the test?
David and the rest of the boys showed up after dark and it took some work to convince Marko, Paul, and Dwayne to head out without them, but Michael won in the end. David, on the other hand, needed almost no convincing to stay back and fool around, especially with the rest of the Emersons out of the house and out of their way. Michael played it cool, waiting until they were both half naked and half hard before he asked, "Is it true?"
"Is what true?" David replied before leaning down to nip at Michael's neck. Not a serious bite, but enough to get his heart racing that much faster.
Michael unzipped David's fly and reached into his pants to wrap a hand around his cock. He let out a long sigh at the first touch but his breath hitched after only a few strokes, and Michael had to resist a self-satisfied smirk. "Can vampires come inside without permission?" he asked.
"You had to invite me in, didn't you?" He let Michael carry on for a bit, then drew back enough to narrow his eyes in suspicion. "Why?"
Michael pushed him back onto the bed then climbed after him. "You'll see."
There's no telling how long it's been since, and Michael has yet to get bored of this. David is past curses and threats and has finally started begging, but Michael isn't about to let him off the hook. After all the teasing and hazing and other bullshit, David has earned some payback, and Michael is more than happy to oblige.
It's about time that cocky bastard got what was coming to him.
Michael finally rolls onto his back and David takes the hint. A few moments to maneuver and then he's sinking deep, with one hand flat on the bed for balance and the other between their bodies stroking Michael in time to each thrust of his hips. Jesus, it's too good... Michael isn't going to last long like this...
"Michael," David says, the word raspy and breathless, "stop fucking with me, please, you gotta let me..."
He's almost there himself, right at the edge and ready to go over...
"Michael..."
He opens his mouth, the words right there on his lips--
The rumble of an old engine and the blare of an off-key horn horn cut him off.
Michael shoves David away with enough force he falls off the bed, landing with a loud thump and a shocked expletive. Ignoring him, Michael bolts to the window and peers through the blinds in a panic to see headlights pulling up the driveway. Grandpa is home early.
"Michael, what the fuck?" David demands, picking himself up off the floor and following to the window. "Who is that?"
Michael abandons the window and starts searching for discarded clothes. "You gotta get out of here," he says. "Hurry up, before someone sees you."
"Are you shitting me?" David catches the shirt Michael flings at him and puts it on, too distracted to notice it's inside out. "You're just gonna string me along all night and then kick me out before either of us gets to finish?"
"I didn't plan it that way," Michael insists, still throwing David's clothes at him. "And don't act like you didn't like it."
David grins midway through getting his pants back on. "You're right. I kinda did."
The door slams shut downstairs as they move to the window again. Michael eases it open slowly so it doesn't creak and gestures out into the night. "Go. I'll catch up with you later."
David steps onto the sill and pulls Michael in for one last kiss before giving him an impertinent pat on the cheek. "Next time I see you, you're in deep shit," he says.
"Next time I see you, I'll string you along even longer," Michael replies.
David smiles. Not his usual devilish, arrogant grin, but one of the rare, softer ones with more warmth and sincerity. "See you around, Michael." He steps out of the window and there's a rushing sound as he disappears into the night, and Michael stares after him before turning away to get dressed. Hopefully, Grandpa won't notice him sneaking out. If he dawdles, he'll never catch up, and he doesn't want to keep David waiting.
Well. Maybe not for too long.

Killing A Vamp (A Lost Boys Fix-it Fic)
Summary: after betraying your brothers for the chance to get your humanity back, you realise who was pulling the strings the whole time.
✨✨Platonic! Gn! Reader/You x Lost Boys✨✨
Spoilers!¡! Literally the end of the movie, who the villain was, also hints at the comics about David iykyk
Word count: 1.4k
Series masterlist
You walk through the wrecked house in a haze until your eyes settle on David’s body. Your Davie, your brother. You didn’t witness Marko’s death, you could only hear the demonic screams of Paul and Dwayne as you held Laddie closer, assuring yourself this was the only way. The only way to become human again.
So why don’t you feel any different?
The holy water still makes your skin itch and you still feel an inhuman energy from the moon. Stopping for a minute you walk over broken glass. It hurts, yes, but you look at it and you notice it’s a mirror. You’re still see-through.
If you weren’t trembling before you definitely were now, you stumble over to David, avoiding the protruding animal antlers and horns you climb next to his corpse, the light almost giving him an angelic glow. You couldn’t contain your wail this time, seeking out the comfort only your brothers could provide.
“I’m sorry David, I’m so sorry. You’ll be with your brothers I’m sure,”
Avoiding looking at the antlers protruding out of David’s chest, you huddle yourself closer.
“The boys went out with a bang you know? That is the only appropriate way they’d go out, I’m sure they’ll agree. I’m sure Marko would be happy to see you all, joined again to raise hell wherever you go.”
You can feel Michael’s pitying eyes on you as the rest all walk into the living room, and in the moment you want nothing but to kill him, resentful of the fact that he still has his brother. But you know you are just as much to blame, you chose your humanity over your brothers, unfortunately that was the only way.
Even the frog brothers give you time to mourn, as Michael and Star share a look. None of you turned back.
David wasn’t the head vampire.
Suddenly the front door jingles as a man and a woman storm into the room. The woman must be the Emerson’s mother, as she immediately calls for her boys, concerned over their safety and yells about the state of the torn up house. The man you recognize, as he walks closer to you and David, barely passing you a glance.
He was… the rental store man?
He walks up to David and touches his face, checking to see if he was alive, there was barely any emotion on his face as he turns back and walks towards the upset woman, surrounded by the frog brothers and Sam.
“I’m sorry Lucy, it looks like my boys misbehaved”
Misbehaved?
Misbehaved!?
He claims your brothers are ‘his boys’ and he doesn’t even bat an eye to their death?!?
You disassociate as the man monologues about who the fuck cares as you get a sudden introspection into your Davie, and what kind of monster he shielded you from. The boys at least tried to avenge Marko, running on emotions and severely underestimating a couple homacital teens and pre teens yes, but they at least fucking tried.
They mourned.
You were sure that after all this was over and they saw you dead, they would even mourn you. Even after your betrayal.
When you look back at ‘Max’ you see the faint glow in the window behind him, and you knew what you had to do. After Sam stumbles back into his mother when she accepts you slowly approach the monster.
He regards you with a twinkle in his eye, as if you were just another kid he would surprise adopt into his fucked up vamp camp. Taking his hand that wasn’t outstretched to Lucy as you learned her name was. You look up and lie through your teeth.
“I always wanted a father, I can’t believe my brothers would hide him away from me”
He gazes at you with surprise, you smile genuinely as you can feel it coming closer. You subtly try to anchor yourself.
“It’s nice to meet you father.”
The light is much closer now, a loud blaring of ‘La Cucaracha’ cuts through as a truck with giant spikes collapses the wall behind Max.
In a split second you use all of your strength, you push Max towards the spikes and it goes straight through his heart. Unfortunately, the truck doesn’t stop and it collides with the chimney on the opposite side.
From there things seemed to happen in slow motion like a movie. You saw an opportunity to escape the crossfire, but you find yourself unwilling to move. A smaller steak on the side of the truck pierces your stomach and you fall over to the side. This doesn’t stop the truck from running over your lower half of your body.
You feel so much pain, and somehow you’re still not dead yet. You think you’re dreaming as you swear you hear David’s distant voice call out to you in a hurry.
There’s suddenly screaming, Star, Laddie, Sam, even those god forsaken Frog brothers. Lucy takes your hand and soothes you, you can see the Emerson kid run for a phone. You look to Star,
“get Laddie away,,, I don’t want him to see this,” even though you know that it’s pointless at this point.
You cough out blood, wetting your lips as you try to speak.
“Let me die, let me join my brothers.”
It was only now but you finally feel human, heh, that’s funny.
Everything goes black.
—————
You wake up with a jolt, pawing at your stomach you feel nothing. You’re back in your nest. Turning sharply to your left you see Marko, he’s looking at you apprehensively. He’s talking to you but it all feels like molasses. It’s Marko, your brother.
He’s supposed to be dead.
Suddenly you lurch at him, he flinches and prepares to fight back as you two often did but the wrestling never came. Instead, you latch onto him as if you were a koala and a deep guttural cry rips from your throat.
You were inconsolable for days after.
Strangely enough you couldn’t handle looking at the other boys just yet, only allowing Marko to comfort you for reasons you refused to spill. How would you tell him? That you betrayed them and passively watched them die?
Laddie and Star would check in sometimes, mainly to keep you occupied once or twice so Marko could hunt. Something that Paul would loudly protest at. Why wasn’t he allowed to comfort his baby bat?!
Other than that Marko would keep you entertained, both of you had an artistic streak so you finally taught him how to crochet. One of his hunts he came back with a granny square crochet book and a shit ton of yarn. Just the thought of Marko balancing the bags of yarn on his motorcycle made you smile for the first time in what seemed like forever.
It was on the fourth day, where you woke up during the daytime. Seemingly made your plan up in your sleep as you spring to life, Marko hardly moved, he was always a deep sleeper. One of his worst traits you would say.
Making your way through the tunnel system into the once hotel lobby you pass by Star and Laddie fast asleep. Suddenly a throat clears as you go to leave out the door.
Turning around your eyes burn as you see David, strategically placed in the shadows, watching you leave.
“I- I was just- Hi Davie-“
David sighs and gives you a look that makes you shut up. Fiddling with his hands for a cigarette that wasn’t there he turns back to the tunnels.
“You’re old enough to go out on your own kid, just be back before the sun sets, you’ll send your brothers into an early grave otherwise.”
With that he travels back into the cave silently.
——————
Walking to the boardwalk was hell, not so sneakily nabbing some sunglasses off a vendor was hell, walking past the fucking rental store to get to the comic store was fucking cruel and unusual punishment as you burst through the door of the stupid fucking comic store.
A wave of weed hits you like a truck as you suddenly realise why the frog brothers were constantly on one. Spotting them at the counter reading comics, almost simultaneously flipping through the pages of their Batman and Spider-Man comics respectively.
Banging on the glass counter you almost crack it, making the boys jump as they look up at you. One of them tries to speak.
“Welcome to the monster hunting central-“
“Shut the fuck up” you snarl.
.
.
.
“I need you to kill a vampire.”
Thank you for reading!

@pierprincess : don't say that. don't say that to me. angst prompts ; accepting.
𝖎𝖙 𝖜𝖆𝖘 𝖆 𝖈𝖔𝖓𝖛𝖊𝖗𝖘𝖆𝖙𝖎𝖔𝖓 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖍𝖊 𝖍𝖆𝖉 𝖇𝖊𝖊𝖓 𝖆𝖛𝖔𝖎𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖍𝖆𝖛𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖜𝖎𝖙𝖍 𝖍𝖊𝖗, maybe because he knew that his anger and pain was bubbling so close to the surface that there was no way that he could keep it contained if they got into it. the issue was his anger wasn't loud. it was quiet and simmering to a point of unpredictability and he took him to a place that he rarely allowed himself to go. but they could no longer skirt around the issue any longer. they could no longer avoid the inevitable conversation that had his heart already 𝖇𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖐𝖎𝖓𝖌 because there was no way that either one of them was coming out the other side completely unscathed. as much as it pained david to ask 𝖜𝖍𝖞 she had done what she had, he needed to know because she must have known that there was only one way out and they had been set up to walk into a trap the moment they entered the emerson home.
𝖎𝖋 𝖍𝖊 𝖍𝖆𝖉 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖑𝖑𝖞 𝖘𝖙𝖔𝖕𝖕𝖊𝖉 𝖙𝖔 𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖓𝖐 𝖆𝖇𝖔𝖚𝖙 𝖜𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖍𝖊 𝖜𝖆𝖘 𝖘𝖆𝖞𝖎𝖓𝖌, he never would say that it was her fault because on some level, he didn't blame her for what happened. he blamed himself for keeping things from her, from allowing his family to be put in harms way, for allowing himself to do something so foolish and fall in love. everything she had done was his fault. but would he ever admit that to her? not anymore. david was 𝖍𝖚𝖗𝖙𝖎𝖓𝖌 and he wanted to do whatever he could to make it that she was hurting the same way he was. eyebrows raised at her plea, shaking his head as he laughed meanly, " don't say what, star? that they are all dead because of you? "
𝖍𝖊 𝖜𝖆𝖘 𝖈𝖎𝖗𝖈𝖑𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖍𝖊𝖗, much like an animal would do its prey and whilst he had no intention of physically harming her, he would do whatever he could to make her on edge, to scare her and to make sure that she knew just how much she had hurt him, " we brought you in, we kept you safe, we gave you a home and we loved you, " it was easier to say we than single himself out, but it was still the truth. each of his brothers had their own connection with star, they all loved her in their own way and they would all be just as 𝖍𝖊𝖆𝖗𝖙𝖇𝖗𝖔𝖐𝖊𝖓 to learn how she had betrayed them all, " and how did you repay us? you let michael and his amateur vampire hunters sneak in and kill marko whilst we slept like cowards. you ran from dwayne and took laddie from him. you did nothing to help paul as he screamed whilst he died, " with every word he closed his circle, getting closer to her until he was stood in front of her, blue eyes completely dark as he looked at her, his expression nothing but pain and hurt as he looked at her, " you betrayed me by whoring yourself out to michael emerson and thinking that you could just kill me to get your happily ever after, " if she wanted him to be the monster and the villain, then so be it. even if all of this was killing him inside, he wasn't himself, he was letting his pain and grief for the family that he held close for so many years speak for him. even now he knows he can't hide the way his eyes glisten with tears as he stands in front of her, so close that they're almost touching and yet he didn't dare do it, " i really hope he's worth it, clara, because i'm done, " david didn't even know if he believed it himself, if he really thought he could walk away from her and not think about her again. they were 𝖈𝖔𝖓𝖓𝖊𝖈𝖙𝖊𝖉 in a way that couldn't be broken and there was always just something about them that he never quite understood. never did he think she would turn against him like this and would help destory everything he held close, " you all thought i was a monster and now that's exactly what you're going to get, "
#pierprincess#i. answered : 𝖎𝖓 𝖈𝖍𝖆𝖗𝖆𝖈𝖙𝖊𝖗.#iv. in character : 𝖎𝖒𝖒𝖔𝖗𝖙𝖆𝖑 𝖋𝖊𝖆𝖗 𝖙𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖛𝖔𝖎𝖈𝖊 𝖘𝖔 𝖈𝖑𝖊𝖆𝖗.#( honestly think this is the most mean thing i've written so far )#( i am sorry star )#( he is just in pain )#( projecting his own blame )

Special Bond || 5. Peer Pressure
Paring: Paul Lost Boys x Original female character Emerson cousin!
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: none
Last: Would you? | Next: Made for Each Other
During the day when the sun was up time seemed to fly by for Katherine since every day she looked forward to seeing the boys. Plus with Lucy working at the store with her and Maria makes things go faster and smoother with three people working. At the moment she was walking around the boardwalk with Michael. "You hoping to see my friend again? Who's beauty caught your eye." She laughs nudging him. "Is she going to be here?" He looks at her. "80% of the time she comes with the boys so Laddie can get out." She tells him, "So I'm gonna say you have a good chance of seeing her." Katherine smiles walking off from him. As she walks around she spots Star, "You looking for my cousin?" Katherine laughs as Star looks around. "Does it look like I'm doing that?" Star chuckles. "You find him good-looking, don't you? I don't blame you. He's grown A LOT since the last time I saw him." Katherine laughs then sees him in the distance. "He's over there." She points him out to her. "Yours is over there." Star smiles walking off while Kat goes over to the boys.
"Kitty." David gives her a smile. "I have a question for you and I want the truth." She walks right up to him. "Tell me the question." He eyes her smiling. "I know Star finds my cousin attractive but is she also playing bait for you?" Katherine crosses her arms. "We just want to make new friends and he looks about right. Not to mention he's your family. I wanna get to know him." David just smiles making her roll her eyes at him. Paul extends his arm out so Kat could take his hand to get on his bike. As she takes his hand into her he gets a big smile making Marko make fun of him. "Shut up." Paul leans over to shove him. "You never ride with anyone. It's always Paul." Marko tells her causing her to laugh, "David's given me a ride home so I've ridden with him."
As a few of them were chatting about things David sees Star with Katherine's cousin so he gets the boys' attention to ride up on them. "Where you going Star?" David asks her while Michael looks at him then sees Kat with Paul. "For a ride. This is Michael." Star introduces him. "Let's go." Michael grabs her hand but David says her name. They share a look then both look at Kat confusing her but she brushes it off as Star gets on David's bike. Paul chuckles at the situation making Kat hit his back. "You know where Hudson's Bluff is overlooking the point?" David looks at Michael. "I can't beat your bike." Michael tells him. "You don't have to beat me, Michael. You just have to try and keep up." David gets ready to go. "You know what that means Kitty Kat." Paul leans his head back on Katherine.
As David heads off the rest follow hollering out loud. "Come on, Mikey!" Kat looks back smiling at her cousin. Going down the steps onto the beach, Katherine holds onto Paul. As they ride along the beach everyone was cheering having fun while Michael tried to keep up. "WOOO!" Katherine shouts leaning her head back and holding one arm up in the air while her other was still holding onto Paul. Paul laughs at her letting loose more having fun. Over the three months, she's gone from holding on for dear life because of the way he drives to now barely holding him. "Big bump!" Paul lets her know so she can hold on.
On the cliff Paul, Marko, and Dwayne fall back some while David and Michael keep heading for the drop-off. As they all pull up Kat sees Michael on the ground close to the edge because charging at David. The boys run over to them while Kat went over to Laddie holding him close to her. "How far are you willing to go Michael?" David smirks at him. Michael just stands there looking at him while everyone waits for an answer. "He could've just died, David. That wasn't fun or funny." Katherine speaks up so they look over at her. "It was just a game, Kitty."
Michael ends up agreeing so everyone heads to the cave. "Is he stupid enough to fall into his trap?" Star leans towards Katherine as David talks to Michael. "When we were young he gave into peer pressure easily." Katherine looks at her. "I know you don't or you would have drank that blood a long time ago." Star starts to walk away. While Marko goes to get food for everyone, the others try to have fun to pass time. "Dance with me." Paul pulls Kat over to him. "I don't wanna dance." She giggles as Too Shy starts to play so they move to the music.
Tongue tied or short of breath Don't even try Try a little harder Something's wrong You're not naive, you must be strong Ooh, baby try
"Hey girl, move a little closer." Paul says the lyric pulling her closer to him making her laugh harder holding onto him.
You're too shy shy, hush hush eye to eye Too, shy shy, hush hush, eye to eye Too shy shy, hush hush eye to eye Too, shy shy, hush hush
Katherinedancesaround the cave singing the lyrics not caring that some of them were just watching her. When the song changes she sings walking over to Star grabbing her hands making her dance with her.
We just heard of a brand new wave And we hope it's here to stay We'll have to wait and see If it's half of what they say
We heard he opened up a brand new door Well, you know that's what I'm looking for We'll have to wait and see If it makes you shout for more
Star laughs making Kat look over at Paul as they dance because of the lyrics coming up.
How do you like him so far? How do you like his show? How do you like the way he rocks and the way he rolls? How do you like his image? How do you like his style? How do you like the way he looks and the way he smiles?
The kid is hot tonite Whoa, so hot tonite But where will he be tomorrow? The kid is hot tonite Whoa, so hot tonite But where will he be tomorrow?
Laddie starts to dance with the girls so they each grab his hand, and soon Dwayne and Paul join in while David and Michael watch the five. After a couple more songs they all decide to relax a bit.
"Kat, when did you become friends with them?" Michael speaks up as she sat with Laddie. "Three months ago. They kept coming into my job bugging me." She says making the boys chuckle agreeing. "And Grandpa is okay with this?" Michael makes her laugh, "He deals with it. And he's technically met Paul so." She shrugs her shoulders.
"Feeding time. Come and get it, boys." Marko shows up with Chinese food. "Over here, bud." Paul motions for his so Marko tosses it to him. "Kitty." He hands Katherine hers. "You're finally having a meal with us." Dwayne jokes. While everyone eats David messes with Michael and the food. "Maggots, Michael. You're eating maggots. How do they taste?" David asks making the boys laugh while Kat shakes her head. Michael looks down at his box then spits out his food dropping it causing the boys to laugh more. "David..." Kat stares at him but he jokes that the noodles were worms. "That's enough." Kat tells him. "Chill out." Paul tells her so she huffs.
David whispers to Marko and Katherine knew what he was getting. Everyone watched David take a drink then hand it over to Michael. "Be one of us." David says so Katherine looks at Michael getting up and take it from David. The boys start to chant his name so Kat gets up going over to him, "Michael, you don't have to. You don't know what you're getting yourself into." She tells him. "Kat's right. It's blood." Star tells him. "Yeah, sure. Blood." He chuckles then drinks it causing the boys to cheer.
The girls and Laddie back away while everyone jumps around still chanting Michael's name. "Told you, gives into peer pressure easily." Katherine looks at Star with mixed emotions on her face. "What's wrong?" Katherine asks her. "I don't want him to be like them. He seems nice. But at time same time I want him to be one because maybe it will help you." Star looks at her. "Help me? With what?" Katherine asks confused. "Deciding to become one of us. You wouldn't be alone if you had a family too." Star explains to her. "You don't have to drag family into this. I said I wanted to but not yet." She explains. "But David wants you to do it soon. He's trying to rush you." Star says so Kat looks over at the boys.
"Sorry, I can't take you home. We won't do anything too bad for Michael." Paul kisses Katherine's cheek before leaving with the boys. "How am I getting home?" Katherine asks sitting alone with Star and Laddie. "I can swing by dropping you off." Star says as Laddie walks over to the bottle without the girls noticing. He was a little boy but he knew what some conversations were about. He picks up the bottle going over to Katherine holding it out to her. Katherine just stares at it and Star takes it from him. "What are you doing?" She asks. "I want Kat to be like us. It would be more fun to have her always around. If you were one of us I would be more happy being a vampire." He pouts.
"Laddie, it's not time yet. But I promise I will be just like you. Then we can spend time together all the time." She gives him a smile putting her pinky out so he takes it with his while Star smiles at them. "Go put this back so we can take Kat home." Star hands him the bottle back. "I never break my promises. Not to mention, I've seen it so." Kat laughs. "You saw a vision of yourself?" Star smiles so Kat nods her head. Star was excited that Katherine was ready going to become a vampire. Her dislike of being a half-vampire slowly disappeared over time getting close with Kat, but knowing her visions are never wrong... Star was now excited to become a full vampire just because of one friend. She wouldn't be alone anymore. "I'm ready to go." Laddie rushes back over to the girls.

Protect Each Other: Chapter 9
~~~~
Edgar and Alan arrived at the Emerson house on their bikes and knocked on the door. Sam ran to the door, opening it.
“You had something important to tell us?” Edgar asked, pushing his way through. It was mid morning, so [Y/N] wouldn’t be there until a few hours more. Alan looked at his new friend.
“Did you find out where the blood-suckers are?” He asked. Sam nodded hesitantly.
“Y-yes and no.” Sam said. Edgar frowned.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” He asked. Sam sighed.
“Okay, look, one of the vampires came to our house last night. She offered to negotiate.” He said. Edgar scoffed.
“Vampires don’t negotiate, Phoenix. They only kill.” He said. Sam sighed in exasperation.
“I have a name you know, it’s Sam.” He said. The two brothers didn’t respond.
“Did you at least find out who the head vampire is?” Alan asked. Sam nodded.
“She said that Max was the head vampire.”
The Frog brothers frowned and looked at each other.
“That’s impossible. He passed the test. The garlic, Holy Water, even the reflection.” Edgar said. Sam nodded.
“Apparently, Michael invited him in before he left to go with his “buddies”. Did you guys know that you should never allow a Vampire into your house?” Sam asked. Alan and Edgar looked at each other, mentally blaming the other for not thinking of that before.
“O-of course. Everyone knows that.” Alan said. Sam frowned.
“Then why didn’t you guys mention it before?!” When the brothers didn’t respond, Sam shook his head. “That doesn’t matter. The point is, the Vampire, [Y/N] she told me that the head vampire is Max. And, if you two are willing, we can all work together to take him down.” Sam said.
“The day we work with Vampires is the day hell opens up and swallows us whole!” Edgar argued. Alan nodded. Sam sighed. He wished his new friends weren’t dead set on killing any person that looked like a vampire.
“Look. We can either work together with [Y/N] and the others, or we can face down five vampires and a head vampire. Which do you want?” He asked. Alan and Edgar looked at each other.
“The first option.” They said at the same time. Sam groaned and ran his hands down his face.
“Guys! Can you please put aside your hatred for the Vampires for one sec? We have a chance to work together with five of the strongest beings on the planet! And a chance to not die!” He said, trying to get his friends to see reason. The brothers looked at each other. It was true, they didn’t want to die an early death at the hands of five pissed off vampires, but it was also against their code to work with vampires. Alan shrugged his shoulders, looking at his brother.
“It couldn’t hurt. Just this once.” He said. Edgar sighed.
“Fine. Just this once, Phoenix,” he said, looking at Sam. A smile spread across the boy’s face. “When’s your Vampire coming back?” He asked.
“Tonight.”
Edgar and Alan nodded.
“Tonight it is then.”
“And guys, please don’t try to kill her. I actually kind of like this one.”
~~~~~
The sun had just set. [Y/N] decided to wait a little bit before going to the Emerson house. She was the first one awake, staring into the flames of the barrels. She was starting to slowly remember what had happened to her, all those years ago. When she ended up on the doorstep of Max’s house. Marko was the second one awake, Paul following after. The two yawned and sat beside their lover. Paul noticed that [Y/N] hadn’t greeted them with her normal smile and kissed to their cheeks.
“What’s botherin’ you, Chica?” Paul asked. [Y/N] continued to stare into the light of the fire.
“I’m starting to remember what happened to me. How I came to Max.” She said. “There were two people. They fell in love and had me. Then, there’s screams, and blood. Lots of blood. There’s a woman begging Max to take care of me. Then nothing.” She growled. Her eyes flashed red. Marko placed his hand on her thigh, trying to calm her down. “My guess is that I wasn’t abandoned like Max said I was. I’m guessing that Max killed my parents.” She stood up. “I’m going to the Emerson house. Hopefully Sam managed to convince his friends not to kill us. I’ll be back soon.” She said, leaning down to press a kiss to their cheeks. Paul and Marko watched as [Y/N] left, worry in their eyes. If [Y/N] let her anger get the best of her, then the boys weren’t sure they would be able to stop her this time.
~~~~
Sam, Michael, Edgar and Alan all jumped when there was a knock on their door. Sam shot up and raced to the door. He turned to Edgar and Alan.
“Remember, don’t attack her.” Sam reminded. Edgar and Alan nodded.
“We won’t.”
Sam opened the door, and there stood [Y/N], dressed in a black crop top and ripped skinny jeans. She wore brown sandals on her feet. She smiled at the boy.
“Good evening, Sam. My I come in?” She asked. Sam smiled slightly and nodded.
“I give you my permission to come in.” He said. He knew exactly what he was doing by allowing her in. He was nullifying the affects of the weapons such as Holy Water and stakes. [Y/N] smiled gratefully and walked in. She took a seat in front of Michael and the boys. She sighed and threaded her hen fingers together.
“Considering that you two aren’t attacking me,” she said, looking at Edgar and Alan. “I’m guessing Sam has succeeded in making you see reason.” She said. Edgar and Alan shifted uncomfortably under the intense gaze of the immortal before them. Sam nodded.
“Yes. I have. They have agreed to work together with you and the guys.” Sam said. [Y/N] smiled.
“Good. In that case, Sam, Michael, has Max offered to take your mother on a date? I’ve noticed that he seemed quite taken with her.” She said. Michael and Sam frowned.
“Wait, how do you know about that?” Michael asked. [Y/N] smiled.
“Because you just told me,” she said. Michael and Sam looked down sheepishly. [Y/N] chuckled. “I could also see it through my powers.” She said. She lifted her hands and made a circling motion. She willed her powers to come from within her soul and out her fingers.
Her powers formed into a sort of mirror. The red mist slowly moving around. With one hand still raised, she moved one hand, extending her index and middle fingers and tapped the center of the mirror. The mirror made a ripple. “Show me Lucy Emerson.” She commanded. The mist on both the top and the bottom of the mirror folded in, creating a tight circle before flowing out again to its original spot. An image of Lucy Emerson and Max, sitting in Max’s dinning room showed. The two were smiling and laughing, seeming to enjoy each other’s company. The boys stared in aw at [Y/N]’s display of power. Edgar and Alan looked at Sam.
“You didn’t tell us she had powers like this!” Alan said. Sam smiled and shrugged.
“I told you, I like this one.” He said. [Y/N] chuckled.
“Your mother and my “father” seem to be having a wonderful time,” [Y/N]’s smile dropped. “Too bad she can’t see the monster he truly is.” She said. With a wave of her hands, the mirror gently flowed out of the circle and back into her hands, finally disappearing. She looked at the boys. “Do you know when Max is going to drop your mother off?” She asked. Michael shook his head.
“Not really. I’m guessing it’s going to be around 11 or 12 tonight.” He said. [Y/N] glanced at the clock. It was 9:00 pm right now.
“Then we don’t have much time,” she said, standing up. She looked at Michael. “The three of you should come to Hudson’s Bluff. That way, we can make a deal between my boys and you four, to make sure we are all held accountable. I’ll be waiting. Please don’t be late.” She said. She walked towards the door and just as quickly as she had arrived, she had left. The only thing that was was left behind was a gush of wind, settling into a gentle breeze. Sam looked at Michael and the Frog Brothers.
“I guess, to Hudson’s Bluff we go.” He said.
//Here is Chapter 9. We’re getting close to the end! I think I’m only going to have 12 chapters, adding a thirteenth as an epilogue. I’m also considering making a sequel to this. If you guys have any ideas on what should happen in the sequel, don’t be afraid to let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear your ideas! Anywho, I hope you enjoy reading this😊//
It's Just a Movie: Part 16 (Poly!Lost Boys x Fem!Reader) fic
<- Previous Chapter Next Chapter ->
Warnings: cursing, descriptions of blood/violence, child injury (a la Interview With a Vampire), angst
Word Count: 2563
Star was growing more miserable by the minute. She'd been a runaway, and she was happy to stay at the cave. Until she noticed that she was beginning to change. You had no choice but to watch her go through it, but you found that the boys didn't haze her nearly as harshly as they'd hazed Michael. You didn't know if it was because you were there to witness it, or because Michael had been a special case.
Either way, they still took her out one night, and you were tasked with staying at the cave, at home, until they returned. They were all a bit giddy, either with the idea of a bigger feast than normal or the nervous energy running through all of them. Paul was practically bouncing off the walls before he left, and he stole a sloppy kiss right in front of the brunette. Star had already become semi-accustomed to the relationship you had with all of them, including the platinum haired blonde, and you did your best to not be jealous as David kept up with the plot of the movie. He only barely flirted with her, enough to give her an idea, and the three others made sure you didn't notice David's absence. Well, Paul could probably do it completely by himself.
Still, you caught her looking at the way Paul cupped your face in his large hands, bending over from his standing position so he could meet where you were curled on the couch. He practically trapped you back against it, and you knew that if you were to tangle your hands into his blonde locks he might decide to ditch the feast altogether. You almost wanted him to. You tugged on his bottom lip with your teeth, earning a surprised noise from him. A smile bloomed over his face as he pulled away, excitement swirling in his eyes. To your surprise, he said,
"Catch ya later, doll-face." Before he was whooping and hollering, bounding up the steps. Marko stopped to kiss you before he followed. It was just a quick peck so he wouldn't fall too far behind the other blonde, but far more sweet than the others had been. He gave your cheek a pinch, and he walked backwards as he gave you a mischievous smile. The way his lips curled distorted his angelic face, making it appear devilish in the fire-light. His fingers gave you an all too familiar wave.
"Goodnight, y/n." He teased, and you sent him a small glare. You called,
"Be good!" As he bounded up the rock wall to follow the tallest of the blondes. He cackled in response, and you knew that he had no intention of listening to you. You sighed, but Dwayne was quick to steal your attention.
He, being the tallest, didn't even try to bend down to meet you. He simply sat besides you, one of his hands going to your lap to take one of yours. You supposed that all your boys could read you like a book, but Dwayne had a weird way of always knowing what you were thinking. You gave his hand a squeeze and let a small sigh escape your lips, letting your head fall on his shoulder. The hand not intertwined with yours curled around your jaw, massaging it lightly as if to massage away the inkling of doubt circling inside your mind.
"We'll be back soon." He said, but you avoided his eyes. You played with his fingers, a thought floating around your mind. When you looked at him, you knew he could see it clearly. You could stay. You thought, but Dwayne only gave you a sympathetic smile. He pressed a small kiss to your lips, and then one to your hairline. The actions spoke clearly, You know I can't. And you stopped yourself from letting out another sigh as he went to stand. He kissed the back of your hand before he let go, and you watched his tall form climb up the rocky entrance in a couple of well-placed lands of his feet.
The last was David. Most of the past week had been spent entertaining the other girl of your group, but it felt like an eternity. His ocean blue eyes claimed yours when you looked at him. You stood to meet him, and one of his gloved hands cupped your chin. You stared at him, silent words passing between the two of you.
They already knew what to expect. They'd take Star to see what she was, she would refuse to eat, and then she'd probably end up taking some time for herself. Since this was the only place she could dodge the sleepiness the sun would settle on her, they knew she'd be back by morning.
You looked away for a moment, catching eyes with the girl that stood by the fountain. She looked confused, interested, as if she was trying to catch whatever was passing between the two of you. Between all five of you. Your eyes flicked away and, on instinct, you reached up to touch David's cheek with the back of your hand. It was a simple graze, but it made him close his eyes for a moment. It spoke exactly what you needed to hear. David missed you just as much as you missed him, and, hopefully, in a few weeks they wouldn't have to worry about Max, the Frogs, Star, or the Emerson's anymore. He moved his head to kiss the back of your fingers before you retracted your hand, and then he said,
"You'll be fine." It was as affectionate as he'd been the past few days, being purposely vague and colder for the sake of listening ears. That was all he could promise, you knew. No matter how this went, you'd be fine. He gave your chin a squeeze, and then he was retracting his hand. You went to touch where his hand had been as he turned away, beckoning to the brunette with a simple gesture of his hand, and the two of them climbed up to where the others were. Leaving you safe, but wondering.
They returned a few hours later, with nothing much to tell. It had gone as expected, yet the rejection still seemed to weigh heavily on them. The five of you took the time to relax around the cave, now that there were no prying eyes or anyone to suspect anything. You sat in David's lap, playing with his fingers as he stroked your neck. You listened to his breathing, leaning up to brush your lips against his neck. You could practically feel the way he smiled, his hand smoothing over your hair as he pulled you tighter. Though, when you heard a clatter from above, David helped you stand from his lap and you went to Markos arms instead. You didn't know what you expected when Star came back, but the sight of her bloody and carrying a body in her arms wasn't it. You gasped, covering your mouth with your hand, and both David and Dwayne lifted to their feet in less than a second.
"What did you do?" David snapped, almost without a thought. They moved quickly, crossing the distance between her and them without pause. Marko, without thinking, moved you so you were behind him. He blocked you with his body, keeping you out of reach and out of sight. David and Dwayne were by the brunette girls side in less than a second, with Paul standing close but away from the smell of blood. You watched as David peeled the body from her arms, as he was always able to control himself the best. And Dwayne's mouth opened in shock as looked down at the body. Her words seemed to fall deaf on Dwayne's ears as she gripped his jacket, but you heard them all too well.
"I didn't- Please, god, help him. He's just a boy. I didn't mean- Please, help him, David." She shrieked, turning her attention to the blonde. David stared at the broken body in his hands, quickly telling her to,
"Shut up." Before he looked at Dwayne for just a fraction of a moment. Dwayne pulled himself out of Stars grip, taking long strides as he rushed past where you and Marko stood. You stared at Star, seeing the blood decorating her face, neck, and chest. As if she had tried to wipe it away with not much success. Then, you let your eyes flick to the body in David's arms. You couldn't see his face, but you could see his light brown hair. Long and splayed against the black of David's coat. You gripped Markos arm almost painfully, but neither of you could pull your eyes from the sight. Dwayne returned with a bejeweled bottle, and you caught Dwayne's arm without thinking. Quickly, you said,
"Dwayne, he's-" But Marko pulled your arm away from the brunette, letting him resume his quickened pace and cutting you off. Dwayne walked away without so much as a glance, and had never been cold to you before. But Marko was stealing your focus before you had time to dwell on it. He turned away from the sight, acting as a block from the view instead of a block from just the threat Star posed. He took your face into his hands, quickly whispering,
"If we don't, he's going to die." Marko whispered, but Star obviously still heard him from the audible slap that came from her hand covering her mouth. She sobbed, and you saw out of the corner of your eye how Paul moved then. He pulled Star to his chest, pulling her away from David and Dwayne as they did what they inevitably had to do. You tried to argue with the blonde in front of you. Sure, none of you knew how Laddie would be turned, but it wasn't supposed to be like this. Marko smoothed his hands over your cheeks and said, "His heart is slowing. She took too much blood. He won't make it to the hospital." As tears gathered in your eyes. You stomped your foot in a feeble attempt at protest, but Marko was wrapping his arms around you and hugging you.
You didn't see them give Laddie the wine, but you could hear the way Star protested. The way she cursed the boys for making her what she was. How she struggled against Paul's iron grip hold. Blamed them for her attack of the boy in David's arms. Marko jolted you as he whipped his head around, snapping,
"You're the one that attacked him, Star. So, watch your fucking mouth." He snarled, and Star practically shrunk into the other blonde. Before he could say anything else, you placed a hand on his chest and whispered his name. He frowned at the girl, but turned his attention away from her to look where you were staring.
Marko had pulled away only a bit, but it gave you enough of a view to see the tallest of the blondes. He was staring ahead, at what you assumed was the sight of Dwayne and David doing their best to rescue the little boy the only way they knew how. His face was blank, and he held the brunette tightly. Rubbed Stars back almost absently. Like his thoughts were far off elsewhere.
Everyone was silent after Star stopped, opting to sob into Paul's shoulder. There was a long moment, and Marko turned so the both of you could see the little boy. He was still mostly hidden from the way David held him, only really able to see the top of his head and David's back. Both of the boys were on their knees, with Dwayne in full view. The bottle was in his hands, and he was gripping it almost tight enough to shatter. Finally, there was a little cough from the otherwise silent boy, and a blanket of relief seemed to settle over the room. David traded the boy for the bottle, and Dwayne had his eyes set on the couch. Both you and Marko moved to let him through, and the pair of you watched as he set him as gingerly as he could on the cushions. Dwayne brushed his hair from his face and Paul appeared from the side, a blanket in his arms. Dwayne took it without a word, the blonde being eerily just as silent. He set it gently on top of the boy, tucking him in as lightly as he could. Paul backed away, moving to stand on your other side. He placed a hand on your shoulder, and you reached up to give it a small squeeze. The three of you watched, and none of you noticed the way David approached Star.
With the bottle no longer in his hands, he approached her as calmly as he could. She was still sniffling, but she swiped his hand away when he went to reach for her. Still, he grabbed her wrist.
"What happened?" He demanded, and Stars looked away as new tears threatened to spill over. Davids threw her wrist away, grabbing her shoulders. Forcing her to look at him. "Star. Tell me." He said, and Star couldn't help the stream of tears.
"No one saw you." He said, covering up his reasoning for asking. David sighed. "This is your fault Star, so he's your responsibility. Got it?" He said, his words like ice. You looked over, finally being able to draw your eyes from the slowly recovering boy. From how Dwayne was gently cleaning him. Long enough to see how she nodded, before wiping her eyes and retreating to her room.
"I- I ran away and went- went farther down the beach. He was all alone. His parents- I saw them walk away and I didn't- I didn't think. I just acted." She said, and a wave of relief relaxed his hold. He let her go, lightly pushing her away. She hadn't killed his parents. Hadn't attacked anyone else. While it wasn't for lack of trying, she hadn't killed anyone. She was still a half. Their plan could still work.
Your eyes returned to the boy again when he whined, and Dwayne was quick to shush him. He stroked his face for a moment, and Paul left your side to sit on the arm of the chair, perching himself above him. He smiled down at the little kid, saying,
"Hey, bud. You're gonna be okay, okay? Just chill out and let Dwayne take care of you. Cool, man?" He said, as the child tried to blink away the pull of unconsciousness. Whether that was from the effect of the wine or of the blood loss, you couldn't tell. You rarely got to see the boys use their abilities, but you watched as David walked over and pressed a hand on Laddies forehead. He murmured the word,
"Sleep." And then he pulled away. You saw how Laddies head rolled light to the side, and Dwayne only left momentarily to come back. He was ripping a shirt to shreds, and Paul started to whine,
"Dude, that's my-" Only to be silenced by a single glare from Dwayne. Quickly, he grumbled, "Nevermind." And moved as Dwayne leaned over the boy to bandage him up and stop him from losing anymore blood.
Ripped at the Seams (4)
Pairing: Marko x Emerson!Reader
Warnings: language
Word count: 1k
A/N: slowly going in the form of the movie but I promise stuff does change! Bare with me!
"Y/n, wake up you've slept the whole day." Michael nudged you gently to wake you up but you just grunted and hid further under your covers. Michael rolled his eyes grabbing the bottom of the duvet and throwing it somewhere in the room. "Up."
"Michael! I'm tired!" You sat up giving your brother a death glare but your look softened when you saw your brother. He seemed different somehow. "Are you alright?"
"Do you remember what happened last night?" you patted a spot on your bed for him to sit down and he did.
"I remember the cave then the bridge and letting go but other than that it's all pretty blurry." You tried to rake your brain for memories of the night before but still nothing came up which both frustrated and concerned you. "What about you?" Michael shrugged his shoulders he must have felt the same way you did. The two of you sat in comfortable silence still trying to remember but you didn't have luck.
"By the way mom has a date tonight so we are watching Sam." you smiled at the thought of your mom going on a date, she deserved to have a good time.
"I'm glad she's finally happy." Michael hummed in response which really wasn't an agree or disagree but you weren't gonna push for another answer he was already tired as it is.
***
In the kitchen you stood with Sam as your grandpa came in looking g awfully cheery he asked Sam about something to do with aftershave.
"How about windex, grandpa?" Your lifted you head and watched as Sam handed him the spray, you slapped your younger brother in the chest for being so stupid until you saw your grandpa actually use it. You were too tied for this.
"Big date tonight grandpa?" all the attention went to Mike as he join you all.
"Gonna drop off some of my handiwork for the widow Johnson." he seem so proud of himself for bagging a date with her.
"What stuff for her? Mr Johnson?" You cringed. They just stared at each other
"See you three later." and off he went.
"Michael-"
"That wasn't funny." the sound of grandpas car leaving seemed to have cleared the awkward tension between the three of you. "I'm gonna make you a sandwich."
"I'll pass." You leaned against the counter top watching your bothers bicker about the earring Michael had.
"When did you get that? I don't even remember you getting it done." Michael looked at you and touched his ear he also couldn't remember, seems to be an ongoing theme at the moment which made you feel your ears for any earrings you don't remember getting.
The roar of enginesand headlights beaming through the windows caught everyone's attention, you followed Michael through to the front room when the loud cheers and hollars were heard, the blinds started rattling and the wind was getting into the house it almost seemed intransitive especially with the faint whisper of your name It was going around your head over and over again edging you to g outside.
"Marko." you whisper as you walk towards the door looking out at the bright lights.
"No y/n, Mike don't." Sam called out for you but the two of you were too focused on what was happening outside. Michael opened the door but then everything stopped and the two of you returned back to earth. No one was outside, the wind settled and no bright lights. He closed the door and pulled you into a hug.
"What's going on you two?" Sam asked still confused as the what was going on but who could blame the kid neither did the two of you. You had no idea what that was.
"Go take your bath." was all your brother had said.
***
After that odd encounter you decided to make something to eat, you did ask Michael but he wasn't feeling hungry and to be honest neither did you but you needed something. As you stood in the kitchen your bother came to join you, raiding the fridge and taking out a carton of milk.
"What do you think that was about, Mike?" you asked not taking your eyes of the sandwich you were currently making.
"I dont-" you whipped around hearing Michael grunt in pain and fall to the floor brusting the carton of milk on the floor.
"Michael!" you ran by his side trying to make sure he's okay. "Are you alright!? What's wrong!?" you started rubbing his shoulder as he clutched his chest and started coughing until he stopped.
"Y/n. Go to your room." you were about to protest but he yelled at you to go so you did. Retreating upstairs and hiding in your room until he calmed down.
However you weren't calm, pacing the room back and forth trying to think of what to do if you should call your mom. You stopped pacing when you started feeling a pain I'm your chest it felt like you have been punched in the chest and struggling to breathe, soon you were double over trying to push through it but it hurt so bad you were sweating that's when you head a heartbeat unsure if it was yours, Michael's or Sam's. From outside your room you heard crashing and Nanook growling then Sam yelling at Michael.
Pulling yourself up you felt heavy and tired, you carried yourself down the Hall to where your brothers were and you noticed Mike was bleeding from the hand.
"Michael." they both looked as you, covered in sweat your eyes looking to glazed over almost like you were very ill. "I don't feel so good."
"Guys. Look at your reflection in the mirror." Sam started at it then the two of you looked with him. You both were almost translucent which made you feel more sick. "You are a creature of the night. Just like out of my comic book! You're a vampire Michael and Y/n! My own siblings a goddamn shit sucking vampire! " He barged past you."just wait till mom hears about this." Micheal steadied you.
"Sammy wait!" he started running and the two of you followed after him shouting his name repeatedly but Sam started locking the doors and no matter how hard you both knocked on them he wasn't going to open them. Michael practically dragged you into his room and turned off the light you continued to pace back and forth almost ready to rip your hair out. You're not a vampire it can't be possible you didn't do anything only watched out for your brother. You sat on the floor by the bed covering your ears, there goes that heartbeat again it was stressing you out and you can tell it was doing the same to Michael.
Hi! I love all of your star/lost boys works and I was wondering if you could do a imagine of where the boys don’t die and saves star from the frogs and Emerson’s? Like, she’s their little sister or lover? I don’t mind! Also I hope you’re having a good day/night! Take care of yourself! ❤️
Star had been wrong, she had found out the hard way. She had liked Michael - probably more than she should have - and she had wanted him. To be like her. Like her brothers. To be with him and be happy.
For a couple of days she had truly believed that to become reality. Michael seemed to have been enjoying the time spent with her and her brothers. He seemed to fit in well. Star had been too tired that morning, when he had walked in and picked her up. She had sleepily asked what was going on, and all Michael had said was: "Don't worry, Star. You're safe now."
Safe. What even was that? Star had trusted Michael, ready to love him and be with him - and all he had done was throw the gift given to him by the boys in her face. Multiple times he had come in, telling her the plan.
"So, we tried to kill Marko, but the Frogs failed. So, now we're going to make sure they won't get here, and they won't hurt you again. Alright?"
Star had just nodded. She was too tired to explain that they didn't hurt her. That she didn't need to be saved. No, her brothers were her home.
David, may be it in a cold way at times, was protective of her. Always making sure that the ones she was going out with were good people. Always, in a quick and subtle way, checking in on her if she was alone on the boardwalk with some strangers. He was always there to protect her if needed.
And Dwayne, the one who had found her, bleeding on that road. The one who had first let her in, opening her eyed to a whole new world. The one who has helped her through everything, patiently explaining what she was going through, the one who would always listen to her - no matter what.
Or Paul, who could always make her smile. The boy who had dragged her along to the concerts on the beach, the one who had taken her on rides, showed her what fun was. Showed her how to live, basically. The one who could always make her feel better - how she missed him now.
And Marko, the boy who could read her like a book. Nothing could stay hidden from him. He knew her best, knowing exactly what she cared about and what she didn't. Always making sure that she was safe when riding with him, always making sure to pick something she'd like as wel when getting dinner. The one who actively looks out for her, and who actively makes her a part of this weird somewhat dysfunctional vampire family.
No, since they found her and took her in, she hadn't been hurt. She had been loved. She had found a home. Brothers.
She sighed as Michael once again explained why he was doing this - this time however the Frogs were in the room as well. Edgar, the loudest of the pair, was busy tying her up. "She's as good as a bloodsucker," he said, in his 'i am tougher than you think' voice. "If we don't tie her up, she'll help those full ones."
Star shook her head slightly. It was late afternoon, and she was just so tired. She fell asleep, laying in the corner of the room - not waking up until she heard screaming.
"Watch out!"
"You missed-"
"Eat this, bitch!"
"You're one of us, don't fight it Michael!"
Star opened her eyes, screaming in fright as the door swung open.
"Star?"
"Marko? I- are you okay? They - they said they wanted to kill you, I -"
He kneeled down beside her, untying her quickly. "Luckily they missed." He gave her a soft smile. "And you?"
"Just a bit scared.."
"Let's go," he helped her stand, leading her out of the room. Chaos is what was happening. Paul was fighting Michaels brother, Michael was fighting David, and Dwayne was stuck with the Frog Brothers. She bit her lip quietly, sighing as she realised Michael was to blame for all this. As both Michael and David flew through the air, she couldn't help but scream.
"Stop!"
Both men fell down, causing the other boys to stop mid-fight.
"Michael, you got to stop this! I - you're not going to harm my family!"
"You're family? Star, they're murderers!"
"You are worse! You- you think that this is how you get a girl? By kidnapping her?"
"I saved you!"
Star shook her head, not knowing what to say anymore. Dwayne had walked over, quickly checking her over and noticing the red marks on her wrists where the rope had been. Paul stood behind her, his hand on her arm. David just looked at Michael. Then at Star.
"What do you want us to do?" he asked.
"Can we go home?"
David nodded. He turned to Michael with an ice cold glare. "If you or your pals ever come near Star or the cave again, we will skin you alive. Got it?"
Michael nodded, frozen on the ground as the five vampires left the Emerson house. Paul carried Star as they flew back, giving her a tight hug once they landed.
"I- I'm sorry I caused all this..."
David turned to look at her. "You didn't. We all thought Michael would fit in, and be one of us. None of us knew what kind of idiot he was, or would become."
"So you're not mad?"
The boys shook their heads.
"You're home," Dwayne said softly as he hugged her, "that's enough."
now what?
Summary: A peek at what happened to the human!TLB after the battle
pairing(s): paul x marko
TW: Mentions of Smoke (?)
tagging: @thetempleofthemasaigoddess
The room was filled with relieved sighs and soft sobs. Smoke was apparent in the air while debris covered the floor, making it difficult to stand up without falling flat on their faces or hurting their palms.
"Oh, Michael." Lucy tearily smiled, approaching both of her children as the other 4 boys watched the interaction in both shock and in confusion. Laddie, however, clung tightly to Star, his tiny hands embedded in her jacket, his face nuzzled in the crook of her neck.
Dwayne's heart tugged at the scared look on Laddie's face, but right then, his mind was all over the place. A shakey breath shattered his thoughts, "Guys," Marko whispered, his voice shakey.
David didn't react to the sound of his voice right then, while Paul and Dwayne jumped and looked over at Marko, both of them thinking something was terribly wrong.
"Guys, put ya'll's hands to your chest, now."
Paul furrowed his brows, but obeyed, as did Dwayne. Two pairs of eyes then both widened in sync, disbelief written all over their features. "You're shitting me." Dwayne whispered back, his fingers trembling over his sternum. A thick tear streamed down Paul's debris covered face, making a stream of clear skin follow afterwards.
A dull beating resonated underneath their hands. It was there, but it was very dull, and the same thing could be said for David, who was still attempting to process what had happened just meer seconds before.
He then turned to the three young men, not paying any attention whatsoever to the Emerson's or what his brothers had just experienced, "What do we do now that Max is gone?" he asked.
Paul and Marko both flinched, whereas Dwayne's eyes hardened.
"We're free now, David, we can do whatever we want." Dwayne leaned back, his voice coming out more harsher than he expected to. David, in return, turned back to facing the family before him, not knowing what to say or do. None of them blamed him though.
A light then shut off in the kitchen, the sound of the refrigerator shutting. Marko shuffled closer to Paul, his ruffled golden curls moving slightly. Paul sighed, wrapping two skinny arms around him, pulling Marko tightly into him, his cheek then resting on top of Marko's head, "We need a plan, David." Paul stated.
Before David could respond, quiet sounds of pattering feet then approached the group, making them all turn around to face the source.
It was Laddie who stood before them, his entire face coated in dirt and his chest moving up and down erratically, "I wanna go home now, Dway." his high-pitched voice ringing in their ears.
Dwayne opened his arms and reached out for him, to which Laddie accepted, his body perched next to Dwayne, "Lads, I don't know if we can go home now. It might not even be safe anymore." he thickly swallowed. Laddie slowly nodded his head in understanding, but his empty face said otherwise.
They all were in immense shock - traumatized even. Their minds rushed at 100 miles per hour, but none of them were able to put their thoughts in words.
Star stood in the far side of the living room, her petite figure standing infront of the stairs as she stared blankly down at Nanook who whined and headbutted against her leg, begging for attention. In acknowledgement, she gave him a light pet on the head.
"Boys?"
All of them simultaneously looked up, even Star, who immediately quit petting Nanook. Lucy's nervous eyes flickered between each of them, not quite knowing what to do, but knowing she had to do something.
"Uh," she paused, her hands frozen on her hips as she thought for a second, "You boys can stay here with us for a while." her voice was unsure but at the same time compassionate.
They all stared blankly in return, which made her shift even more.
"I mean, you all can stay here until we get this figured out, okay?" David nodded his head at her words, his lips pulling into a fake smile, "Thanks, Mrs. Emerson, that's very nice of you."
Lucy smiled and opened her mouth to say something before Edgar tapped her on the shoulder, "Mrs. E, me and Alan need to speak business with you, pronto."
David's fake smile was quickly wiped away at the sight of him, a scoff following at Edgar's words, while Dwayne's nostrils flared, his grip tightening on Laddie. The young boy winced, wiggling out of Dwayne's grip before making his way towards Sam, who was too busy griping with Michael.
"Where will we sleep?" Marko asked David, who shrugged in return, "Wait until Lucy comes back, I guess." he replied. Star shuffled past the Boys, walking over to Lucy and the Frog Bros. None of them did anything as she walked past them, instead just sitting in silence.
David closed his tired eyes, breathing softly.
"We're free, Boys. Finally free."
The Neighbour [0.1]
Masterlist
Everything had played out like the rising action in a horror movie. And before the whole world's eyes, life on Earth had slowed to a snail-like crawl. Covid 19 was ravaging through cities and countries faster than a salmonella outbreak at a restaurant even Gordon Ramsay couldn't attempt to save. It was terrifying to watch, and even more terrifying to see work and interaction dry up so quickly. Especially for those who relied on social interaction to stay sane.
Luckily for Remington, he happened to be stuck with his brother when quarantine measures went into full effect.
It was no big deal living with Emerson, if anything, it was relatively more calm with two out of the three of them sharing a space. Sebastian and Larissa were staying well and safe in their own house, popping by now and again at the gate to check in on his little brothers. No doubt, it sucked. The album was pushed back, the tour called off, the only thing keeping the hype for 'The Bastards' release was social media.
At least Remington had comfort in the fact that he wouldn't have to endure this quarantine alone. Living in his own house all by himself, he'd probably drive himself up the wall and find himself hanging off the rafters (literally).
Tuesday morning was bright and warm, as they tended to be in LA. Emerson was sat comfortably at the kitchen table, drinking his usual cup of tea and reading the depressing headlines coming out of the news. Pepper was curled up at his feet, snoring softly and her little marshmallow body rising steadily. The neighbourhood was quiet, it always was, but it was especially tranquil these spring days in April. He simpered sardonically when he read the latest quote from the president, promising that the pandemic would pass come July.
His attention was gripped suddenly when he heard the low squeal of car tires. The youngest brother glanced outside the window, his dark eyes falling over the little blue Waivecar that had pulled up at the opposing apartment complex. Those cars had been coming back and forth for the last four days, with the same girl coming and going. And at night, the apartment facing the house would keep the lights on until two or three in the morning, but she wasn't partying. The most noise this girl made was the hum of her radio drifting out of an open window.
Clearly, whoever she was, she was still in the weeds of moving. Perhaps when she was settled, Emerson would go by and introduce himself, make her feel welcome. Considering how warm the climate was, this particular neighbourhood had a tendency to be quiet cold and private towards neighbours. No doubt many of them weren't a fan of the band and their at home antics.
Emerson was startled when his brother came bounding in, dressed in the same moppy grey sweats he had been practically living in for weeks. Thank goodness he wasn't wearing his heelys this time around; the other day he had crashed into the couch and flipped over onto the cushions, nearly smashing his head on the coffee table.
"The guys will be by in about half an hour," he said. Emerson narrowed his eyes at his older brother.
"He says as we're under strict orders from the state health officials to not see anybody," he murmured.
Remington pouted, running a hand through his evidently growing blonde hair. He pulled up a seat next to his brother, "Hey, you were the one who said it's getting too quiet around here. And besides, it's not like we're coming from opposite counties. Seb lives like four blocks down from us,"
"I'm just getting a little nervous, is all," Emerson shrugged, showing him the article on his tablet, "The numbers are still going up,"
"And they'll keep going up until they find a cure. And while they're doing that, we're going to be in the backyard playing soccer and eating pizza," Remington smiled.
"Who said we're having pizza?"
"I did. I just decided,"
"Maybe I want Mexican? Did you think about that?"
Across the street in the fresh red brick and black-trimmed apartment, three floors up from the ground and in direct line of the sun sat Eva. The twenty-four-year-old literary bachelor sat comfortably at her newly furnished desk, typing away at her laptop that was due for a battery change -- Eva just hadn't found the time to physically take it into the store. On her right she had a lukewarm cup of coffee, on the left her speaker which was softly blasting Tove Lo's new album. All the while, her bony fingers flew over the keyboard, her big stormy blue eyes skimming the words that sprinted across her document.
Eva got by as a writer, not a novelist or a poet, but as a ghost writer. She was hired to write materials for would-be authors and journalists, all of whom either didn't have the drive or commitment to write to the extent Eva did. Surprisingly, she made some pretty good money just off that. And while that work tended to be dry and bleak, Eva had spent her free time writing various fanfictions -- mostly for Hannibal and Criminal Minds. She happened to be quite prolific on Tumblr because of her literary fantasies.
And while her work was often isolating, Eva didn't live alone by any means. She had her pale tabby, Pluto, to keep her company. He was snoozing on the couch, despite how often Eva had trained him not to do that when he was a kitten.
She had just returned from an early morning run from the grocery store -- having learned the hard way that despite the pandemic, people will continue to flock to the stores in droves and it's almost impossible to social distance within them. As if moving out of her old apartment wasn't hard enough, now she had to deal with hastily late movers, jumbled lease agreements, and a pandemic.
In the throws of bittersweet silence, Eva's concentration was broke when a shrill alarm had her nearly jumping out of her seat. It was only her phone, the screen lighting up with a 'Blocked' ID. Eva smiled wickedly and declined the call.
The young writer pushed her rolley chair away from the desk and did a stretch, her head turning towards the house across the street. She figured a couple of frat boys shared the place, they had a few of their friends over from time to time but they were relatively quiet. The most she would hear out of them is some smack talk coming from the backyard.
Pluto's head popped up from the couch, then he leapt onto the floor and trotted over to the window sill, hopping up to spy on the unfamiliar car that was pulling up to the house. Eva could hardly care less. There was a statewide order to see only a small group of people as little as possible, and as long as the neighbours wouldn't bother her, she wouldn't bother them.
It was a shame, as if having to meet new people wasn't difficult enough for her...
A few hours passed and soon the silence in the Los Angeles neighbourhood was broken by the grunts and thwacks of a backyard game of pool basketball. The boys and a few of their friends were all the more engaged in their game while their girls sat aside on deck chairs under the beating sun. Under the shade of the pergola, their friend Andrew was grilling some sausages -- beef and tofu -- on the barbecue.
Remington was taking the piss out of Sebastian for being all over his girl, but who the hell could blame the kid? There was a new rush of life in the guitarist's face whenever the topic of Larissa came up. The same could be said for Emerson and Shy. Remington wouldn't dare admit he was a little jealous of his brothers' happiness, so he'd settle for loving his brothers but torturing them at every opportunity.
Breaking out from the cold water, Emerson gripped tightly to the rubber red ball in his hand. Just as Sebastian came to take a running dive into the pool, he reared the ball back and hucked it at his older brother, nailing him square in the chest. Instead of a graceful dive, Sebastian flailed sideways and crashed into the water. The ball ricocheted onto the deck and bounced away towards the front yard.
"Oh my God!"
"Emerson!" Shy scolded, a little horrified and yet not surprised at her boyfriend's actions. Sebastian broke out of the water and shook his hair out of his eyes. It was more his pride and the laughter of his friends that hurt than the fading sting of rubber against skin.
Emerson meanwhile just giggled happily as he high-fived Remington.
"You guys fucking suck!" Sebastian glowered at the younger boys.
At the same time, Eva had given up on work for the day. As random as it was, she decided she'd try to make bread: the apparent trend that was surging during this quarantine. She bought all the things she would need this morning.
Stepped a few feet into the kitchen, she pushed open the window a brisk breeze flooding in and freshening up the air. Her attention was skewed to the house across the street, hearing some mild echoes of conversation and the thrum of a radio in the air.
She went to gather her ingredients and tools, however, as she turned to fetch an apron she realized something was missing: the patter of feet behind her. Pluto was usually Eva's shadow whenever he was in the kitchen, always the opportunistic cat he was. However, he wasn't on the couch. He wasn't in his bed. He wasn't snooping around in her closet or hiding under the desk.
"Where'd the ball go?" Daniel called, clinging to the ledge of the pool.
"I'll get it" Remington swam to the ladder and pulled himself out of the water. He shook out his sopping blonde hair, unintentionally shaking his ass in his colorful swim trunks. Their friend, Michael, whistled from the pool. Remington only smirked on him.
"Flattery will get you nowhere, hunny," he sassed, waving his hand and ducked off to fetch the ball.
Puzzled, Eva grabbed Pluto's favorite bag of cat treats and shook it, the sound was always able to bring him out -- when he was within ten feet of the treats. The fact that he didn't appear told Eva that he must've gone out the window once again to wreak havoc.
With an irritated huff, she switched out her house slippers for her sandals and hightailed it out with the bag of treats.
The red rubber pool ball had rolled across the grass and lodged itself into a bush at the fence. Remington was awash in frigid goosebumps, not even the California heat could will away the pool's chill quick enough. Nevertheless, he crawled down and retrieved the ball from the brambles, swatting off what little dirt he could. However, his fixation swerved to the complex across the street when he heard a heavy slam.
"Pluto!" a young girl came charging out of the apartment complex, dressed in a slightly wrinkled white t-shirt and her jaw-length hair swivelled smoothly around her face as she frantically looked up and down the street, "Pluto!" she was shaking a little yellow bag.
Remington looked up and down the quiet street, almost expecting to see Pluto the Dog standing at the corner like Cartoon Cat. He glanced down quizzically at the ball, then back at the young woman.
Eva rubbed the stress lines on her forehead out of pure frustration. This wasn't the first time Pluto ran off, he always came back. However, the damn cat would always find ways to stir up trouble; rowling up dogs, plucking fish from little ponds, scratching at hanging laundry.
"Pluto!!" she shook the bag of treats.
"Hey!" Remington called, waving his hand to the stranger, "You alright?"
Eva glanced at the owner of that soft, yet scratchy voice. She hadn't even noticed the bleach blonde kid standing in the glint of the sun. Eva crossed the street and stood a few feet from the gate, keeping more than two meters distance.
"I'm sorry. Have you happen to see a cat running around? He's a pale tabby, couple black stripes, likes to chew shoes," she shrugged.
Remington only shook his head, "Sorry. I'm afraid not," he smiled sheepishly, "Did -- did you say he was a cat?"
"Yeah,"
"And you named your cat 'Pluto'? Like -- the dog?"
Eva smirked, but shook her head, unable to help but glance at the tattoos that crossed over this boy's torso, "He's named after The Black Cat," she said, "You ever read Edgar Allan Poe?"
Remington smiled sheepishly, "Oh right, right! I haven't read that in a while, actually. He named the cat after the Roman God for death,"
Eva smiled pleasantly, not having pegged this boy to know so much about EAP, "That's right. I wanted a black cat to fit with the theme but the damn tabby stole my heart,"
"He knew what he was doing, obviously," Remington grinned, "I'll keep an eye for him though, if I happen to --" he was cut short however when he heard Pepper start yapping from the backyard. The yapping was followed by the clanging of metal and a screeching yrowl.
"What the fuck?" Andrew suddenly shouted, “Where’d this cat come from!?”
Panic flooded over Eva's face and Remington didn't think twice to open the gate and let her in. Social distancing aside, they two of them rushed into the backyard to find a tray of sausages had crashed onto the floor, the meat had rolled everywhere. Shy clung to Pepper as the little pomeranien yapped and growled incessantly at the scruffy tabby on the patio table, back arched and hissing at the dog while he guarded his captured sausage.
Eva was understandably horrified.
"What the hell happened here?" Remington asked, just as in shock over the mess.
"Cat came out of nowhere and dive bombed our lunch!" Daniel replied, having just crawled out of the pool.
"Pluto!" Eva ran to the table and scooped up the snarling cat, Pepper was still yapping away, "What is the matter with you?" she scolded at Pluto before turning to Remington and Andrew, who still wielded the metal tongs in his hand, "I am so frickin' sorry!"
"No, no, it's okay," Andrew shook his head, glancing at the lost sausages longingly, "I was kind of craving sushi, anyways,"
"It's no big deal, honestly," Remington assured her, "Five second rule applies, I'm sure,"
"It's been about thirty-seven seconds," Sebastian spoke flatly.
"Since when were you counting?"
Larissa was the only one who didn't seem annoyed or surprised at the feline intruder. She smiled warmly at the young girl, "Is this your cat?"
"Unfortunately," Eva grinned sheepishly, "I should know better. He's in a new area and he tends to get into trouble. Also, if anyone happens to lose a shoe, he did it, and I'm apologizing in advance," she pointed a finger at the now calmed tabby.
Shy smiled, "Well, Pepper's no better. She tends to think she's a way bigger dog," she held up and coddled the fluffy pomeranian. Eva smiled awkwardly, only now noting that she forgot to grab a face mask. And here she was: in a backyard full of strangers in a pandemic.
"Wait, I recognize you," Emerson said, "You just moved across the street, right?"
"Yeah, that's me. Eva," she nodded, "Great first impression, right?"
"You couldn't do any worse than Curcio over here," Sebastian grinned, "Remember the split pants?"
"You're going to hang that over my head for the rest of my life, aren't you?" Daniel glowered.
"Maybe," Emerson turned back to Eva, "I'm Emerson, that's Sebastian, Daniel, Larissa, Michael, Shy, Andrew... and you've already met Remington, I see,"
"The best looking one," Remington grinned.
Eva nodded, "Well, it was very nice meeting you all, I should get going, though. And again, I'm so sorry about the cat,"
Remington shrugged, "It's just sausages. We can get more," he assured her, "Here, I'll walk you out,"
"Thanks," Eva smiled, keeping Pluto close to her chest as she passed Shy and Pepper. Pepper gave one last fleeting bark as the cat passed by. Pluto simply licked his lips.
Michael couldn't help but lean over as he caught one last glance at the new neighbour, then turning to Emerson, "How come you get the pretty neighbour?"
The drummer shrugged, reaching over to grab the rubber ball that Remington dropped at the end of the pool, "Dumb luck?"
I’m still thinking about this tweet I quoted earlier, and I felt like the rant I’m holding in belongs on here rather than twitter.
So to start things off, there’s almost no flaws with The Lost Boys in my eyes. Just about everything about that movie is perfect from (most of) the casting, to the character development, the soundtrack, the overall tone, I love literally everything about The Lost Boys except for one thing: The main protagonist.
Michael Emerson is probably the worst character you could possibly root for in the movie (or any movie, honestly), and Max, the Big Bad(tm) is literally right there. Michael has absolutely zero redeeming qualities and if it weren’t for everything else I love about the movie, I would hate it purely because of him alone. I can’t even say “at least he’s attractive” because, here’s the thing, even though Michael has Several physical attributes I find attractive in men (full lips, nice jaw, soft-looking wavy/curly hair, pretty eyes, thick eyebrows, pierced ears), I couldn’t find him attractive if I tried because he’s just that much of an irredeemable shit-stain.
He gets on his motorcycle right at the beginning purely so he doesn’t have to ride with Lucy and Sam to Grandpa’s house.
He sees Star (and Laddie, but he’s not really important) in the crowd at the concert, and just fucking stares at Star the entire time, then when she leaves he fucking follows her around until he sees her get on David’s bike and ride away with David and the others. He’s literally showing stalker behavior right off the bat.
When Michael vamps out, Sam is his first target. If Nanook hadn’t been there, Mike would have absolutely killed his own little brother.
I know this is most likely because Sam was the only other person in the house and Michael was just really thirsty, but it still rubs me the wrong way.
He scoffs at/mocks Star when she tries to warn him about the wine actually being blood, and drinks it anyway (like the dumbass he is). When she goes to his house after David takes him “hunting”, he blames her for him being turned even though she tried to tell him and he just didn’t listen, then when she asks him to help her and Laddie, he laughs in her face and then expects her to stay there.
When he first gets home after sleeping with Star, and Lucy tries to talk with him, he interrupts her several times and is just plain rude to her for literally no reason. She’s clearly a good mother to both Mike and Sam, he has no reason to act like that when she’s just worried about him.
He’s rude to Max when first meeting him. I know Max ends up being the Big Bad (kind of...), but at this point in the movie Max is just Lucy’s sweet, innocent boyfriend who was having dinner at their house, yet as soon as Michael sees him, he says in literally the most mocking tone ever, “And you must be Max”, as if trying to degrade him just for being there. He has literally no manners whatsoever.
There are quite a few points in the movie where he acts rashly. Two of which I already pointed out.
He punches David and tries to start a fight with him after almost driving his motorcycle off a cliff and into the water below (with Star screaming for him to stop).
He drinks the blood-wine purely to try and seem cool to the vamp squad (right after Star told him not to do that).
He goes vamp and tries to attack Sam, only failing because Nanook attacked him and bit his hand.
At the very end, when Max reveals himself as a vampire, Michael reveals himself and lunges to attack Max while Star (again) screams at him to stop (if I’m remembering correctly, she says “Michael, no!”). Obviously the ancient demonic head vampire is worlds stronger than some fledgling half-vampire, so Max easily incapacitates Michael and the latter is unconscious until he hears Grandpa’s car horn.
In literally the same scene, he acts rashly again and shoves max forward. This is the only time him acting on impulse has resulted in anything positive for him, because he helps stake Max, which kills him and turns Star, Laddie, and himself back human.
Aside from all of that, the way he talks is so goddamn annoying that even if he wasn’t an asshole I still wouldn’t like him purely because of how he talks/yells. I cringe every time I see the climactic fight scene because his voice is just so wimpy and it doesn’t fit at all to the scary half-vampire he’s supposed to be. Laddie going vamp was scarier than Michael was at any point in the movie. The only time he doesn’t sound like a fucking dweeb was when he said “Never!” in that demonic voice, and that was one of three times I felt anything about Michael other than Pure Hatred. The other two times? 1. When he was begging for help outside of Sam’s window (I actually pity him there) 2. When he goes into the cave to get Star and Laddie before promptly passing the fuck out in the passenger’s seat of Grandpa’s car.
TL;DR Michael Emerson is an irredeemable fuckass who should not have been the victor of the story by any means, and I hate his character with such a burning passion that I’d be 100% okay with a remake of The Lost Boys purely for the chance that they turn the character into less of an asshole.
#mikey rambles#rant#long post#the lost boys#michael emerson#also the reason i put '(kind of...)' next to calling max the big bad#is because his only motivation in the movie was that he wanted 'his boys' to have a mother#that's all he wanted throughout the entire movie#he saw how wonderful of a mother lucy was to her two sons#and wanted his own four boys to have a mother like that#even after finding all of his children 'dead' (david's not dead and no you cannot change my mind)#he still loves lucy and wants to be with her#the worst thing he did was hold sam away from lucy to convince her to let him turn her#yeah that's still really bad but it's also the ONLY actually bad thing he does#the main antagonist of the movie is literally more redeemable than the main protagonist and i can't get over that fact
Evil Season 2 Episode 4 Review: E Is for Elevator
https://ift.tt/2TWnAne
This Evil review contains spoilers.
Evil Season 2 Episode 4
Evil season 2, episode 4, “E Is for Elevator,” stops between floors to squeeze in an urban legend. The team is called in on a job outside their scope, an internet game. It has no demonic ties except for a pentagram drawn on the floor of a player. With that as the only spiritual tie, David Acosta (Mike Colter) goes off to contemplate the mysteries of his superiors’ faith in Leland Townshend (Michael Emerson), while Dr. Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) and Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) go pushing buttons.
The family who calls in the team admits there is no satanic connection, but the police have already written them off, and tagged their son a runaway. The whole thing would have been passed on if it weren’t for the game. This gives the episode a pass for an all-ages admission, and lets the children play. “E Is for Elevator” is probably the most intrusive Kristen’s kids have been since Ben got the name “Magnificent.” They actually con their way on the job site and try to take the maiden voyage on the elevator ride to hell. The option is to leave them with a very creepy looking concierge, but that’s mainly played for laughs.
The most important rule of the Elevator Game is if you don’t finish it, you will be haunted by the ghosts of all the people who died in that building. And the building has quite a history with dead people. The Anselina, the only structure in the area which has enough stories to play the game, has its own stop on a local ghost tour. According to the guide, a young woman was cut in half on the elevator. She got stuck in the doors after her dog got out. Residents still hear her crawling down the halls. They call her the “teka teka girl” because that’s the sound her fingernails make as she crawls across the floor. Once the tour guide plants this in Ben’s head, he infects Kristen who starts hearing “teka teka” wherever she goes.
Sure, they fudge a few things. Everyone knows there are no 13th floors in buildings. Superstitious building architects conspired with the Knights Templar to cut construction costs millennia ago. But even with the subjective shortcuts, we don’t get the shaft. The sequence where Kristen gets stuck, alone, in the elevator is viscerally frightening. Not because of the half torso woman crawling across the floor, but for simple mechanics. It’s tightly framed within a limited point of view, which makes it both claustrophobic, and peripherally perilous. We know Kristen won’t get cut in half, but there’s a part of us that has wanted it since the tour guide painted such a vivid picture of it in our minds. While Kristen later blames her prescriptions, the scene also subliminally mirrors what happened at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, when Elisa Lam hid from unseen hazards.
David’s main antagonist for the week is all too visible. Leland is having the time of his life making a mockery of the religious rites. He’s paying for it, so the church goes along. It is slightly unnerving how David can openly express his disapproval of the supplicant to his superiors, only to have them repeatedly ignore him. His teammates have spoken out against Leland. Sister Andrea (Andrea Martin) almost asks David to hold her habit so she can kick the possessed poseur’s ass, but still the clergy accommodates Leland’s every whim. You can almost envision them holding their hands over their ears while chanting “I don’t hear you.” Something must be going on here which is clouded by the comedy. The series hasn’t made any overt references, but the church has to be in bed with the devil they know.
Evil Season 2 is Paramount+’s First Big Opportunity
By Alec Bojalad
Leland’s passive aggressive race baiting is grating, so much so the audience might feel an inner cheer when David punches the local activist Logan later in the episode. Leland’s poisoning has that much of a ripple effect. It’s worse when the diversity-hire comments are echoed by the church officials, and fellow ecclesiastical students. The temptations are expertly hidden in the episode. Kevin, a fourth-year clerical student who notices David hardly ever shows up to class, says the star supernatural assessor is “being groomed to be the great Black hope of the Catholic Church.” David is later tempted by another, possibly more inclusive, faith.
It is a shame the audience doesn’t get to hear David’s homily in full. The priest-in-training has a high regard for his worth to the church. His superiors may think he’s being egotistical, but he honestly has a selfless motive behind the seeming braggadocio. Ben, on the other hand, “never stops feeling like an idiot on this job.” And his is the most interesting arc of the installment. He calls in a friend, who could have been more than a friend, to understand the finer points of the Elevator game. The game itself is a major plus for the series. It is perennially timely, and universally frightening. No one wants to get stuck in an elevator.
Ben’s almost-ultimate fate is almost equally universal. Those cheesy bugs are pretty creepy, admittedly, but they are sold by Ben’s reaction. The realization of their presence leaks into his eyes. It’s a slow ride before he registers shock and revulsion. He is actually expecting the woman to be alive when he turns her over. He is more disappointed than startled at his initial discovery, which suits the character. He’s grounded and, yet, expectant. He wants things to turn out right. Ben’s ambiguous acceptance of his personal demoness is also well played tonight. She is his Jiminy Cricket in reverse, and as he descends into sentimentality, she cuts his treacle down to the stump.
“E Is for Elevator” is a fun episode which really is appropriate for all ages, or at least will appeal to their actual interests. The urban legend keeps it contemporary, the social content makes it timeless, and the off-kilter approach keeps it lively. Evil also continues to leave some of the more paranormal ambiguities uncertain.
Word Count: 2.6k~
We love having a plot- exposition chapter bay-be
"You let them go?"
You couldn't help but wince at the words. You stared at him, at the snow-white haired vampire in front of you. He had been hard to read before, but now his reaction was plainly clear. He was livid. With the way he was staring at you, you thought that he may even look murderous. You gulped, glancing at the others. As if any of them would possibly be any help.
Paul looked between the two of you, but he lost his usual smile and clamped his mouth shut. Dwayne had sat up as well, but he was staring at David. For a moment, you thought perhaps he was silently communicating with him. Trying to help. Quickly, that thought was dashed from your mind. Your eyes flicked to Marko, who had suddenly become very interested in his own nail-beds. It had only been a few seconds, but it felt like an eternity of silence had passed when you looked back at David and gave him a nod. Before he could say, or do, anything, you started,
"They're just kids-" But David was cutting you off.
"They're hunters." You could hear the anger in his voice. You were half expected him to grab you, to drain you dry and call it a night. "You're the one that saw our deaths. Those kids? They kill us." He said, and you quickly looked away at the reminder. You knew. You were the one that had seen it in the cards. You decided to take a page out of Paul's book. You shut your mouth, avoiding his eyes as you opted to stare at the blanket you were under instead. But David had stopped. He didn't continue, and you knew that you were going to have to plead your case. Change his mind before he decided you weren't worth keeping around.
"I can't just kill a couple of kids, David." You whispered. You almost expected him to grab you, kill you then. You knew he was probably considering it. But when he didn't, you continued. "The course is changed anyways. Marko didn't die. They took Star, but-" And you were cut off again, but this time by the blonde besides you,
"They took Star?" And you looked over at him. You thought that was what you heard, and you gave him a shrug. You weren't sure.
"Laddie?" Dwayne asked, and this question truly had you stumped. They were quick to see that you didn't have any answers, and the boys exchanged a look. Your potential death was put on pause for now, as the boys realized they had a cave to investigate.
You had gone through the cave first. You were supposed to see if they had left any traps, and you were near certain that they hadn't. You remembered how the boys had screamed, running away from potential danger like a couple of terrified toddlers. It made you more sure of your decision, even if you knew David was still pissed. He hadn't spoken to you since you'd left their hideout. The boys were looking around, but all of their stuff was still there. Nothing had been taken or set. Well, besides the two half vampires. Dwayne picked up Laddies bear, holding it as he stood besides the bed where the little boy slept. You watched him, biting your lip.
You wished, for a moment, that you had done something to stop them. But, you couldn't have without leaving the sub-cave. Without abandoning the boys and leaving them for anyone who slipped past you. You went over to him hesitantly. None of the boys had really spoken to you, and you carefully reached to hold Dwaynes hand. He let you, letting out a sigh as he placed the bear back on the bed.
"He won't sleep without it." Dwayne said quietly, and you looked down at the little stuffed animal. Dwayne was frowning, and you could see the distress in his brow. You gave his hand a squeeze. You hadn't known them long. Not long enough to know much about the younger boy. But, you could guess that, to Dwayne, he'd been like a little brother. Perhaps to all of them, you thought as you glanced around the room. You were even considering that, in another timeline, maybe Star had been like their sister. You saw it in the way Paul hung around her room, frowned at the things she left behind as he went through them lightly. You could guess what he was thinking, because you were thinking the same. Would she come back for them when things were all over? When they were dead? You watched as he picked up one of her books, throwing it against the wall. She'd betrayed them. That was clear. Marko was yanking the taller blonde away from Stars room before he had the chance to destroy it. You watched as they passed, and you could practically see the telepathic conversation they were having in their heads.
The pair of you were quiet for a moment before you looked to where David had stopped. He was standing by the chandelier, looking around the room meticulously. Looking for anything that may be out of place. Anything that may harm them.
"They're kids, David." You reminded him. "They probably don't even know how to set up a trap." You said, and, from the glare David gave you, you were almost positive that he wasn't going to respond. He tapped the ash off the end of his cigarette, before he said one singular cold word.
"Yet."
You sat on the floor of the cave, shuffling your cards. Paul sat besides you on the floor, Dwayne perched on the side of the fountain, and Marko stood. David was busy looking unimpressed in his chair. The boys were too anxious to see their new futures, so you'd chosen a different angle. You knew what Michael looked like, and now even knew his full name. You knew that, for the boys, he was the harbinger of death. If you could glance into his future, perhaps the four of you could avoid it. If only you could actually pick three cards.
You slammed your deck against the ground, letting out a noise of frustration. You'd shuffled it for five minutes, but nothing was happening. Nothing was calling you to stop. You ran an angry hand through your hair and said,
"Something's wrong. It's like his future- it's like Michael is being blocked." It had never happened to you before. You didn't even know why it was happening, but you had a few ideas. The first was that it was because he wasn't right in front of you, but you knew that wasn't a cause for an entire block. You'd get his future, just not a clear picture.
"Blocked?" Marko asked, and you couldn't even think of a way to explain. You reached for the cards again, but even with just the intention of the brunette in mind made you feel a disconnect. You sighed,
"Hidden." You clarified. Protected, you thought. It was like he didn't exist, as if the name had no relation to the boy you had in mind. Quickly, Paul suggested,
"Try his brother." And try you did. Again, nothing. No call from the cards. It was exactly the same as before. You ran another hand through your hair. Both of them, both of the Emerson's were being hidden from you. You wished you had known the name of the boys Sam was with, then you could get somewhere. You knew, in the eyes of certain boys, your usefulness was quickly seeming to run thin. You had to think of something quick, so you went with your intuition.
"Something is blocking me. Protecting them. I think-" The second you tried to think of who it could be, what could be blocking you, a haze went over your mind. You reached for your forehead, grimacing when your head began to swim. It was a haze that made you pause, before you were standing up and pushing yourself to find your journal. The boys watched you, watched you scramble. "Something's wrong." You said, standing and flipping through your pages. You stopped when you reached a drawing you'd done. It was a map of Santa Carla, and you ripped it out to put it to the side. "Do you know if there are any witches in Santa Carla? Any besides me?" You asked, and David scoffed.
"What?" Paul asked, and David was quick to say.
"Besides you? Of course not." And when you gave him a look, his face flattened into a frown as he said, "We'd know." For some reason you doubted that. You gave him a look before waving a pencil towards you. You used the map you'd drawn a few days before, sketching it out and using it as a guide. "What are you doing?" He asked, and you had half a mind to ignore him to focus on your sketch. You were doing it quickly, not paying attention to detail. Instead, you said,
"This is a trick my mother taught me. Sketch a place with a map as reference and whatever you can't draw," You paused. You hadn't paid fully attention to what you were doing. Hadn't put any intention behind it as you finished it. You looked up at David, and showed him the messy sketch with the more detailed one besides it. "Is protected."
In the messily drawn picture, there were two houses missing. Ones that you'd been able to draw before.
You and the boys had looked over the pictures. You were quickly told that one of them was the Emerson house. The other one? They had no idea. You'd explained that whatever was going on, whatever was blocking you from the Emerson's, was blocking you specifically. And that they hadn't started blocking you until you'd aligned yourself with the vampires.
You'd moved to the couch, staring at the chandelier. It was well past sunset. Well past whenever the boys would probably search out the Emerson's. You were thinking about how stupid you'd been. Not only had you walked into vampire territory, but you'd walked into another witch's territory. You almost wanted to blame yourself for not having scoped the area out enough, but not even the boys had known about them.
"Whoever this is, they're protecting the Emerson's." You said. You wondered why. What would a witch have to do with a family like the Emerson's? The boys had told you that they'd just moved to town, so how were they able to score protection so quickly? Especially from someone as powerful enough to block another witch? But David didn't let you linger in your thoughts for long. He was sitting in his chair, seeming half ready to explode at any second. You knew he liked control, you could guess that. And now everything seemed to be out of it. With the block, you weren't even sure you'd be able to get an accurate reading of their futures.
"What do we do?" David asked. You looked over at him. You could tell that the question practically pained him to ask. You stared at him, before your eyes flicked to the others.
"Honestly?" You said, lifting your hands just to let them drop. "Move." And David didn't seem particularly impressed by your answer. But, really, what else could they do? They'd lost to a couple of kid hunters and halves before. Now, there was a witch? A powerful one? Even you had to admit that they were screwed. Even if it meant your own potential death.
"We should just go to their house and end this." Marko suggested, but neither you nor David seemed impressed by that suggestion either. David took a drag of his cigarette, and you shook your head. "We have the numbers!" Marko said, his voice rising. But even that wasn't for certain. Five vampires and a witch? Against three humans and two halves? And whatever witch they had protecting them, or whoever else they had on their side? It was too risky.
"You'll get yourselves killed." You said flatly, and even David didn't argue with you on that. Despite the attitude he'd been throwing your way all night, he seemed to silently agree with you. It was a stupid idea. It made sense when Paul agreed with him.
"Listen, we didn't have Marko last time. Now, we do and he's- He's our fighter. Whatever we get into- We can take those little shits" You could hear the emotion in his voice, see it in how he punched his own open hand. The desperation to do something. Anything. He wasn't thinking clearly, though he hardly did, and you shared a look with both David and Dwayne. Even if you couldn't hear their thoughts, you could guess. Definitely not happening.
You motioned for Paul to come closer, to sit besides you. He listened, sighing heavily as he settled next to you. You reached up to hold his cheek when he rested his head on your shoulder. You could practically feel the worry radiating off of him. You could guess why he was so tightly wound, so ready to spring. Sure, you'd made it past the first phase, but now you were blind. You couldn't tell them what was coming, or how to stop it. But, he seemed to relax some when you stroked his cheek. Marko seemed to take personal offense from how quickly the taller blonde had been swayed.
"Well, then what?" He snapped, and Dwaynes eyes went to you. You looked back for just a moment, before your eyes retreated to David. He didn't say a word. He was staring a hole in the wall, and you finally sighed. You had an idea, one you'd been keeping from crossing the forefront of your mind.
It was a bad idea. One even worse than all of theirs. But it was the only one you had, and the only one that could possibly result in not having the wannabe hunters show up at sunrise.
You looked at your detailed drawing, and then up at the house in front of you. You knew, to some degree, that this was the worst idea that you had ever come up with. But, really, what else could you do?
You were alone. The boys had dropped you off down the street, their bikes rumbling as they sped away towards the night. They were going off to get something to eat, something to build their strength. You were here to confront the other witch, and, hopefully, come to some sort of understanding. For a moment, you briefly thought about how hesitant Dwayne had been to let you walk up the street. He'd cupped your cheek, his eyes telling you everything. Though, it had been Paul that had said,
"You sure you wanna go alone?" And you'd given him a nod. You'd given both Dwayne and Paul a kiss, even sparing one for Markos cheek. When you came to David, you'd met the same icy eyes that you had before. Though, they seemed to have melted a fraction. This was dangerous. For you more than any of them. He'd brushed your hair out of your face, before he told you,
"Try not to get yourself killed." And you could see that he'd meant it to be reassuring. In his own way. But, now, you'd wished for something a little kinder. You half expected to not be able to walk up the driveway, for something to push you back or turn you around. But nothing did, and you made it all the way to the front of the house. You'd had to pass by a couple of cars, one of them being a truck with imposing spikes piled into the back. You gulped, trying to push down your anxiety as you approached. You held your crystal out of instinct, trying to ground yourself.
You stood on the porch, taking a second to breathe before you lifted your hand. Just before your knuckles could make contact, the door opened. Startled, you pulled your hand back. You watched as an older man appeared, one with gray hair that looked as though it was tied back in some sort of ponytail. He was wearing a suit, and, despite your initial startle, he was wearing a warm, broad smile.
"Ah, she told me you were outside. Your friends with you?" And you stared into the scruffy face of the old man. You hadn't been expecting more than one person in the house, and, for a moment, you wished they were. You shook your head, and he said, "Good." Before he was leaving the door and leaving it open. He hobbled inside, and you stared after him, thinking once again about what you had gotten yourself into.
