hello!! sure!! I made a post about what brushes I use a while back, though it doesn't go super in depth– you can find it here.

as far as the rest of the process goes, I'll use my most recent illustration of nurse Misa as an example. I pretty much always follow this order when creating a piece:

rough thumbnail/concept just to jot down the general idea > refined sketch/pencils (I rarely follow it to the tee, but the guidelines are necessary) > inks > laying down flats for color (color theory does NOT come naturally to me, I always, always struggle with color) > final touches (meaning– filter the shit out of it until the color looks sort of okay LOL. and also add textures like halftone, blushing, implement shadows and small details on jewelry, nails, etc, etc...)

but yeah! that's about it. even this is still a pretty broad way to explain it, but I hope it was insightful, nonetheless. I've toyed around with the idea of possibly recording a speed paint someday which would probably shed a little more light on the exact process. in the mean time, thank you for the ask and I hope this was helpful!! ✧

I see these types of posts every now and again, and it’s only just occurred to me to share some knowledge:

Lines

Lines are often the heart of drawings, and they tend to be the part artists will draw over and over and over again to get them juuuuussssssttttttttt right. Pointing out lines you think are well done will go a long way to compliment an artist.

Your lines are dynamic! (Good for action pictures, art of an intense scene, or art that conveys movement, like a character running)

Your lines are so clean! (Good for neat lines of various sizes. These lines will feel like a coloring book, where you could color inside them yourself if the art was black and white)

Your lines carry such depth! (When lines cross over each other, they make a flat picture look more real, almost like 3D)

You’re good at drawing intricate lines! (Curling lines? Curvy, wavy, bendy lines? Lines that weave around each other? Many, small lines detailing an item like filigree or a robot’s parts? Those are intricate lines, baby)

You make great use of line weight! (In general, the human eye will be drawn towards very thick lines. Artists will use this to make you focus on a certain point, like a character’s face, by using thick lines around the face and thinner lines everywhere else)

You do amazing lineless art! (Not all art has lines! If you see a picture without any lines, make sure to tell the artist you noticed their hard work!)

Your line colors are fantastic! (Not all lines are done in black or white. Some artists will spend a lot of time choosing what color to make their lines. Show them some love!)

Color

Your colors are so vibrant! (Bright colors! Colors that pop! Colors that instantly grab your attention!)

The saturation is great! (A very bright color is highly saturated, and a very dull color is low saturated. High saturation colors can hurt the eyes, so an artist with good saturation control knows how to use bright colors without hurting anyone’s eyes)

I love your color choices! (This can be used for all color schemes; it’s a more general compliment that praises the artists for their understanding of color theory)

Your colors feel like home! (Good for cozy colors. Warm colors that aren’t usually super bright. They make you feel all warm inside. If you picture a cozy cottage in the woods, you’d probably image these colors)

Your pastels are so pretty! (Muted colors usually fall into the category of “pastels”. These are soft colors that are meant to be calming and non-oppressive on your eyes. Think: The opposite of vibrant)

Your colors are so soft! (Similar to the above two, this is for a picture that makes you feel soft and warm and fuzzy inside. It’s more directed towards warm and pastel colors instead of vibrant colors)

Your ability to blend colors is fantastic! (Putting two different colors right next to each other can look jarring or choppy, so many artists will blend two or more colors together to make things look more natural and appealing. A good example is giving a character a subtle pink blush on their otherwise skin-colored cheeks)

You are super good at choosing color palettes! (Good for when the artists regularly chooses colors that just feel like they belong together. Best for when there are only a limited number of colors in the picture)

Your colors are so clean! (Layering color on top of color on top of color can make everything muddy and dull. Artists who blend things well will have “clean colors”. Likewise, some artists intentionally avoid blending to make simple, bold art, in which case their colors are very, very clean)

Light and Shadow

Conveying light and shadows can be really hard. It can take years to understand how lighting works, and it’s even harder to put your knowledge of it into practice. It can be done with colors, lines, textures, and many other ways.

Your lighting is so good! (A general compliment for any time you see good use of lighting. If you’re unsure, check the eyes and the face of the character, as they often have the most highlight to them)

You made great use of shadows here! (Good for when a dark area really captures your attention)

Your shadows feel so alive! (Artists can be really creative. They make dark areas that seem to move or curl or otherwise just be alive on the paper)

The lighting is so soft and gentle! (Like before, this is for art that just makes you feel soft inside! I think of a character maybe surrounded by light in a field of flowers when I imagine something like this)

You balance your shadows so well without making things too dark! (Using lots of dark colors to make shadows can make the picture hard to see, and details can get lost. If you see a picture with lots of shadows, but you can still easily see all the details, then the artists has really good balance and color control)

Your contrast of light and shadow is amazing! (Good for when the artists uses lots of both light and shadow! You often see pictures with a stark difference between the two, like a character standing in the light and the other falling into shadows, but you can also see good contrast in a more standard setting, like a city-scape set in the afternoon)

Details

Pointing out details is one of the fastest ways to make an artist feel seen. It’s harder to give examples for this because it will really, really boil down to the individual picture. The general rule is if you see something you like, say it! Try looking for things to point out, like:

A character’s expression (”She looks so angry!” or “His expression is so sad, I’m going to cry!” or “Wow! I can really tell what they’re thinking just from that expression alone!” or “You draw expressions so well!”)

Little things a character is doing/holding/etc. that may get overlooked (”I noticed you even clenched his fists! Good job!” or “I love her tiny hair clip!” or “You painted her nails to match his eye color! I love it!”)

Details in the background/landscape (”I love the little bird nest you included in the tree branches!” or “The way you draw water is so pretty! I wish I could swim in it!” or “Is that’s Character B’s hand in the background? So cool!” or “That is the softest cat; I want to pet it!” or “That food on the table is the tastiest thing I’ve ever seen!”)

Clothing! (”Her dress is so pretty!” or “Wow, you do such a good job drawing suits!” or “Her t-shirt is so funny!” or “That hat is so cute by the way!”)

The general idea here is just to say whatever comes to your mind, whether it be literally pointing out the obvious (example: “I love that you drew this character wearing a flower crown! Flowers are so pretty!”) or pointing out how the picture made you feel (example: “This picture makes me so happy, I wish I could eat it!”). Just say what you like about it. You don’t need to know fancy art terms. Saying “Your blues are so blue!” is a perfectly wonderful way to describe the three different shades of blue the artist used to draw an ocean. As long as you aren’t criticizing, you can’t really go wrong.

This love, my dear, is the foundation of your guy’s new beginning. Stable, resilient, loving, warm, and peaceful. I see it just being you two, holding hands and approaching your residence with a Uhaul parked outside🥹ughh just like in the movies. “Baby the yard is so big!”, “ This should be the baby’s room”, “Let’s paint this the color...”. You two will feel very blessed and honored for this opportunity. Rags to riches kind of vibes OR rich to riches! An eventful day and most of it probably won’t be taking place at home because most things are already taken care of. Your FS could want to take you around town to see what’s new and spend more money🫨. It could be a lot to take in for you two but the abundance is endless, Your new neighbors could see you two as powerful and resourceful. While you two are enjoying your move-in day, your neighbors could become nosey, envious, and messy. No proper greeting? No welcome to the neighborhood? ooookay 😂You and your FS will give off very happy and unbothered vibes.

    A bright day full of banter and warm smiles for you and your FS, I see friends and family wanting to come over to welcome in the big accomplishment. The people around you guys are so appreciative and joyful to pitch in and help. You both will receive many housewarming gifts and compliments about how the place is coming together. My Our Life: Now and Forever MC!

Here's what feels like a very long ramble! (even wrote in a very professional way with proper capitalization n everything, lol)

I'm very fond of this lil character I've created for a game series that I cherish dearly <3

Pronouns: she/her

Nickname: Thea

10 years old and left handed

She has a scar on her neck that travels down to her collarbone but that part’s not really visible. She got it from an accident/clumsy moment before she moved. Now she tries her best not to get hurt.

She has two moles/beauty marks! One under her right eye and the other above her left eyebrow which she loves a lot. They’re like small stars that she gets to keep for herself (aw, my heart).

Star gazer, star lover, star admirer. Writes tiny love letters to the moon. Will absolutely point out and ramble about star constellations at any given time (Her favorite is Orion!) While she's a star and moon admirer by night she becomes a forest gremlin by day. UNTIL it's time for school and she’s suddenly quiet as a mouse.

Loves a bit of academic validation. Feels like she has to be the smartest she can be—to her, she has a pretty big namesake to live up to!

Owns a skateboard and feels like the coolest kid every time she rides it.

It didn’t rain a lot back where the Second’s used to live so! Anytime it rains in Golden Grove, and she’s able to take some time to herself, Athena will go outside, sit curled under her umbrella, and watch the rain blur the forest around her. This becomes a tradition and her very own act of self-love over the years.

She’s quite confident in how she views herself and doesn’t shy away from expressing her thoughts and feelings. She’s very vocal in letting Qiu and Tamarack know how much she appreciates them but she’s not afraid to join in on some teasing. Most importantly, she likes to make her loved ones feel loved!

Starts ice skating classes which she absolutely loves!

First time she met Qiu and Tamarack she whispered, “pretty” without even realizing it. They’re the prettiest people she’s ever met besides her mom.

Attached to Tamarack’s hip and she becomes her first BFF! However, at first she was unsure if Tamarack was genuine because of how many compliments she gave. That changed really quickly after they talked in her backyard after the first day of school. Forest gremlin buddies for life!

Admires Qiu like a lot. Except after learning how popular Qiu was on the first day of school, she develops a small amount of doubt on if they genuinely liked her as a friend. That worry washes away really quickly though!

Wants some stability in her life so moving to Golden Grove is troubling at first until she realizes she never has to move again then she falls in love with her new home.

She’s never felt a desire to meet her biological father because in her mind it’s always been her and her mom since forever. Why does she need to care about this silent figure? However, she does feel self-conscious whenever it’s brought up to other people because she never knows how they’ll react. It became a topic of teasing/judgement back in her old hometown.

She absolutely loves that she looks just her mom. And as far as she cares to know, the color of her eyes is the only thing she has in common with this unknown father figure. And right now? She’s not a fan of them. It’s a feature of herself that she’ll have to learn to love as she grows older.

Age 14 and has grown quite tall.

Athena gathers any mementos from each season that she finds most beautiful. Such as, a flower from the first bloom of spring or a striking red leaf from autumn. They’re pressed and kept in a journal with the year and season written in the corner. Sometimes she keeps them because they remind her of Qiu and Tamarack…ohh what’s this feeling?

Still writes and whispers all her secrets to the moon.

Still in love with the stars and moon, skateboards, ice skating, and now takes pottery lessons!

Coffee becomes a staple in her life because she doesn’t know what a good sleep schedule is anymore. Too many late nights spent studying or watching the moon and stars.

Regularly has nail painting sessions with Qiu. Sometimes they even match each other! When she got her new ear piercings, Qiu went with her and got their own piercings

Listens to Tamarack practice her cello any chance she gets. It’s truly magical and if she could, she’d listen forever.

Believes it’s her duty to keep the neighbor trio together forever so the falling out between Qiu and Tamarack is a difficult thing for her. Qiu and Tamarack are her BEST FRIENDS! They can't Not like each other!

Still strives for academic success and validation (Look out she might burn out!)

Will absolutely give a big wholesome or cheesy smile every time for pictures even with her new braces.

She’s a creature of habit at heart so she likes things that are constant. Like her star earrings, gold colored sweaters, and favorite outdoor jacket. Though some things change like ooh new ear piercings! One summer she even dyes her hair a dark navy blue color to be a lil spontaneous! But soon wants her cranberry hair back. Her friendship with Tamarack is perfect to get her outside of her comfort zone that’s never negative.

She’s a pillar of support for her two best friends. Always willing to listen to any worries or problems. And while she keeps a lot to herself now, she will still open up if asked.

She’s always had a steady amount of confidence in herself but at 14 it starts to waver. She’s desperate to find a balance in how she views herself. Especially seeing Qiu experience a journey with their identity and becoming a little jealous of Tamarack’s femininity. Very complicated feelings that are hard to express and she’s always had an answer but now nothing’s clear.

Continues to be very close with her mom. Now that’s she older she’s starting to see her as a friend too! She tells her everything except her struggles with her identity. She needs to find the answer on her own (but oh, Thea, you can lean on the ones who love you!)

So far, I haven't thought too much on who Thea will develop a crush on, but it might start late step 2 or step 3! But, once she realizes she has a crush/likes another person, she doesn’t know what to do. She’s always watched her mom remain independent and she wants to be just like her mom so why does she have silly feelings about romance all of a sudden? There’s a lot to unpack with this one so that’s saved for step 3 Athena! Poor babes </3

Day 5: Rabbit, Reclaim

AGJGDFJF FINALLY IT'S DAY 5 SO I CAN POST THIS

For some reason everytime i draw him he looks so young because i'm accidentally overcorrecting since i'm used to drawing older characters. So unfortunately he looks way younger than i meant him to lol, whoops.

But wait there's more- AHAHAHA

While I did initially plan this for GGY week I eventually got the idea to use this as an excuse to draw other GGY designs, soo..

(Not sure why tumblr formatted it that way with 1 of them big but it doesn't matter lol)

I've been wanting to do this for a while, I put the tags of each person next to their design but ofc I'm still gonna tag them in the post itself so you can see their art for yourself if you haven't already. But I enjoyed each of these in their own ways so if you don't mind I think I'm gonna type a bit of text next to them..

@chipistrate This was one of the first I drew out of these, the design was pretty fun to draw but sorry if I messed up a few details, it was a bit difficult lol. The mask and goggles are really fun to draw and they make for a cool design, along with all the glowing blue. (and yes, I tried to subtly include the heelies lol)

@lunzi0 This was the first fursuit one I did lol. I adore the little stars in the design, they personalize it so well and make it really unique. I wanna try this design again since I feel like the other ones show my improvement a bit better, but I hope you can appreciate the effort I put in on my first attempt <3

@carouselrabbit This one was really fun to draw, I absolutely love the eye shape/lashes, it stands out and I always love drawing eyes with a bit of eyeliner lol, the daycare theme legwarmers is a cool nod to the balloon boy arcade machine being connected to them, and was just a fun addition in general lol, I like the style of legwarmers what can I say, fnaf changed my fashion sense a bit. also the subtle paraells to freddy's design is a nice way to connect a bit to gregory himself.

@puhpandas I can't remember if I talked about this design last time I drew it but, overall I'm really happy with how this came out, it's such an indicator of improvement since I started drawing this and I'm glad I was able to draw it better than last time lol. All the patchwork and similarities to Vanny's suit work really well, and the rabbit you chose to base it off of was a good fit, the colors make it a bit more difficult to shade for but i like detail lol, hope you like it too :)

@dykevanny I knew I wanted to do this since I started but I wasn't sure if I'd have time, and I'm glad I did! I hope you don't mind I combined aspects from the first design I saw and the second one you replied to my ask with, I liked the big purple sleeves lol. (I just realized after doing all the shading I forgot to include the oil splatter on his jacket, sorry!) It was definitely a bit difficult due to the head shape being so different but.. fluffy. i love drawing fluff. And the glowing swirl on the goggles, the shape of the ears, I love a lot about this design. :D

I have a hard time with writing compliments but I wanted to get some of those thoughts out, some of the things I like about these designs apply to multiple lol. I adore every one of these designs but I find it hard to put into words what I enjoy about them, hope the original creators are happy with these. <3

I also kept the ggys without as much lighting effects on a separate file, I felt like I should add them since they're a bit brighter lol, makes them look different.

Okay now that I've gotten all that- Sorry this post is so long! I didn't think it'd end up taking up so much space lol. Buut.. working on this drawing and thinking about it and potential context behind it gave me an au idea for it, but I'll put it under the cut since I understand most people probably won't care and just wanna see the drawings lol.

Idk if I'm confident enough to write for it but I'll give a bit of a summary.. I'll keep it under the cut for people who aren't interested and just wanna see the art though lol.

After the main events of SB and Ruin, now that the mimic's been set free, Cassie's taken control of by what's left of Vanny, using her as a new host. But with Cassie being the only human left alive down there, after being reawakened, Dr. Rabbit has nowhere left to go but back to his old host.

Vanessa, Freddy, and Gregory hadn't gone back to the Pizzaplex after ruin, but they were trying to figure out a plan to get Cassie back safely. One night after Freddy and Gregory disappear, Vanessa leaves to go find them. As dangerous as the pizzaplex is, it's her best guess for where they might've gone. She doesn't want to think about what could've happened to them, in denial for the worst case scenario. She tries to keep herself calm by telling herself they probably just left to go back for Cassie, maybe they didn't want her stopping them.. but deep down she knows it can't be that simple. She knows something's off, even if she's not ready to admit it.

When returning to the pizzaplex, she brought along her own V.A.N.N.I. mask, though unlike the one Cassie used, it was clear of the mimic's influence. After all, she was going to need some way to travel through potential blocked routes.

By the time she found Gregory, she'd still been wearing the mask, seeing him down the end of a dark hallway. He looked confused, afraid, his mind was a wreck of conflicting emotions. She started rushing towards him, happy to see him okay, until he finally spoke.

"You need to get out of here."

She stepped back, taking off the mask, only to be faced with the worst case scenario.

It was a wreck, covered in stains and tears, but it was still recognizable. He was wearing that old suit again.

As he waved, she could see Freddy's claws peeking out from the doorway, as the two stepped closer towards her.

So, she did what he told her to do, and started running. She could hear a faint voice coming from the mask, and put it back on before finding somewhere she could hide.

It was his voice again, telling her which way to go.

I guess that was the dramatic way to summarize the main idea behind it, lol. Basically Gregory and Dr. Rabbit work the way Sun and Moon work in Ruin, whichever one is in control in the real world, the other is left behind in the AR world. Or at least that's my interpretation of how they worked, considering Sun was always in mask-on scenes and moon was mask-off. I'm not too sure where the plot might go from there, and maybe I'll consider writing for it, I dunno. I've never wrote fanfic before because I get deadly afraid of writing them out of character lol, but maybe?? I have ideas for scenes and premise and stuff but I don't know if I have the confidence to write it.

But anyway! That was just more of a fun side-idea I came up with while working on this, if you read this far thanks, hope you enjoyed :)

the new look for the game’s ui is so cool !! it reminds me a lot of old school vn’s while still feeling new and refreshing! i’m an old school vn player, so seeing that call back is really nice (TT) ;; i’ve always admired the game’s overall color pallet, and the latest ss you posted is really pleasing to the eye in terms of color !! im really sensitive to bright colors so the more muted tones are really cool, they’re not too bright but still manage to be really eye catching ^^ tbh i think your art style and graphic design choices have been amazing,,, it’s definitely one of the things i’m looking forward to the most! i’ve been silent following for a while but i can’t express enough how amazing everything is !! you’re seriously really cool;;

I wanted to appeal to the old vn players too when making my game, tbh my whole thinking process was "Kay, I'm going to make something I like, and I like old vns and crazy guys." I wasn't really expecting this much attention, much less so many people following me for what I consider a personal project lol, nonetheless I'm grateful. I will try to keep the colors not too bright for the eyes, I use really strong red backgrounds to represent moments of horror, or unease, so I think those are going to be a little much for some people, but I'm trying my best to keep everything both appealing and not tiring to the eye. Thanks for all the compliments, I really appreciate it. I'll keep working hard!

I am a 5’7 female, with curly light brown hair. I have green eyes, but one eye has heterochromia, so half of it is blue. I have a pretty athletic build, as I’ve done sports my whole life, including mostly softball and wrestling. I am straight

Right now I work at an assisted living facility, and I absolutely love it way more then I thought I would! Being able to care for someone makes a long workday so much easier, and that’s what I’ve always wanted from a job, is to feel like I’m contributing something good to the world. I am also beginning my associates degree in nursing!

However my dream in life is to have a family, I want a couple kids. I also hope to be fortunate enough to have extra to give to others. I’ve been helped out a lot in my life, and I want to give that joy to others too.

My favorite color is red. My hobbies include listening to music, going for lots of walks and hikes, spending time with my dog and my cat, shopping, cleaning lol, and baking. I have always been a very talented baker, and I worked as one for a while. My favorite flowers are lilacs, bluebells, and rhododendrons.

My personality can be a little abrasive to people who aren’t used to it. Not because I’m rude or anything, I’m just very unapologetic about my beliefs and how I interact with people. I often have a hard time clicking with people, as I simply don’t enjoy being around everyone and that’s ok. I can be pretty sassy sometimes without realizing it. Especially when I’m uncomfortable. I have some sensory issues and I get a little ticked off when I feel physically uncomfortable.

However I’m very kind and a hard worker when people get to know me. I love very hard, but I’m a also a sucker sometimes and I forgive people too easily. I am also a person who’s not afraid to apologize when I mess something up. I’ve always been very self aware emotionally and I know how to admit when I’ve done something wrong. I am not easily offended (usually) and I know how to stand up for those I love. I have a little brother that I love very much, and I would do anything to protect my family.

What It Means to be 'Treasure.'

Thank you to @weepingredwillow for the brainrot! Here's a little ficlet of Porter bringing Treasure to the Summit and trying to rub it in Vincent's face that his partner is still human and then Treasure overhears. I usually dont write angst without comfort so this feels weird lol

Treasure never would have imagined that a chance encounter at a bar with a stranger would lead to a night straight up of an erotic novel…complete with the vampire fantasy. And then one night turned into another, and another and it wasn’t just the sex. Porter was so gentle with them, and he listened to them; those silver eyes of his were always on them, like he could see them in a way no one else could. They weren’t the invisible person that was only called upon to be the ride home, or the sounding board or the one to cover the tab. They felt seen with him. He touched them like they were precious, like they were really the ‘treasure’ he called them.

            They never would have imagined that he would invite them to the fanciest party they’d ever been seen, though ‘party’ seemed so inadequate a word with how extravagant this ‘Summit’ thing was. Some of those outfits were out of paintings, Renaissance or Victorian, they weren’t really sure but it was nuts! Not to mention the outfit Porter had gifted them was probably the most expensive thing they’d ever worn, or even owned. They were scared to ask, but they were sure that the gems were real and not costume. He told them that they deserved to wear something that complimented their beauty. He didn’t want them to feel out of place, and being a human among so many vampires…well, they appreciated that at least outwardly, they could fit in.

            Though the worry about fitting in was pushed to the back of their head when Porter had their hand in his, his other on their waist as they moved around the dance floor. His lips grazed against their ear as he whispered to them. Little snippets about the people here, apparently there was strained relations between vampires and shifters, and there was a small group here tonight. Gossip about the ‘stuffy’ old vamps that made them chuckle under their breath. He pointed out the prince of the Solaire clan that was hosting the party, his tone turning sour before it sweetened again. Before they could ask, he was whispering little flirty comments that had their heart stuttering in their chest. Their curiosity forgotten as a heat trailing up their neck to their cheeks and maybe even the tips of their ears with how their vampire was teasing them.

            “I think I’m going to find something to drink, did you want me to get you anything- and don’t say any kind of innuendo…maybe later tonight. If you’re good.” A cool drink should help cool them down, though it seemed like their blood always ran hotter with the vampire around.

            Porter chuckled softly as he leaned in to press his lips to their cheek, just at the corner of their mouth like he was teasing them with the proximity. “Am I ever not good? You’ve never alluded to that before, my dear.”

            “Oh...you’re good all right…in a completely bad way.” Their grin only widened as he let out another chuckle, catching the tips of his fangs before they turned their head the little bit to snag a quick kiss. “So…drinks. What’s your poison?”

            “Surprise me, Treasure. I’m sure I’ll enjoy whatever you bring me,” Porter smiled as he watched them walk away to find refreshments when his gaze landed on familiar silver. At this function, the color was common, only a handful of humans were present. But he would never forget the face of this pair of eyes belonged to. Of course there’s a new pair of silver eyes watching him, and the thought only had his smile turning into a smirk.

            “Porter,” Vincent greeted, his tone professional and almost cold. He was at least trying to be civil, it was too bad Porter was in the mood to pick. There was something about the prince that made him want to poke and prod and bring out the worst he could. Show the old bloods that the ‘golden child’ of the Solaire house was merely gold plated and that there was rust underneath.

            “It’s so good to see you too, Vinnie~ and this must be your lovely partner. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” Porter’s smile dropped in a façade of concern as he turned toward the prince’s partner, “I must say I am so terribly sorry. To be Turned in such a way-“

            "Don't you even dare." Vincent's eyes narrowed to menacing slits as he growled in warning, pushing his body in front of his partner like a shield. His teeth were gritted and the air around them seemed to crackle with electricity, though it had nothing to do with the once-Electro Energetic. “Do you have no tact?” he snarled.

            Porter placed his hand against his chest, lowering himself into a half bow that was more mocking than sincere. “Oh, I didn’t mean to stir up any traumatic memories. Truly. I just recently learned about what happened during the Inversion.” He couldn’t help but note how the prince and his progeny both flinched at the mention. The scars from that day still ran deep, even if they wouldn’t voice it.

            “I highly doubt that,” Vincent spat out, his eyes narrowing at him. “You’re just trying to get a reaction out of us.”

            "Would I be that petty, Vincent? I am merely extending my condolences. And confirming what I heard, I would be remiss if I believed another baseless rumor." Porter's smile turned pointed as he met Vincent's glare. "Though I can only imagine how you must feel. All the power you have, my prince, and you couldn't keep your partner safe."

             Vincent's fists clenched at his sides, and he could feel his partner's hand on his back, a calming presence despite the tension in the air. He took a deep breath, trying to maintain his composure, but Porter's words had struck a nerve.

            "You know nothing about what happened, what it was like..." Vincent growled, his voice low and dangerous though it didn't quite manage to mask the pain that resurfaced at the memory. "You have no idea what was lost that day, by everyone."

             Porter chuckled, unfazed by Vincent's anger. "Of course, of course. I only meant to express my sympathies."

             Vincent could feel his partner's hand grip his shirt, a silent plea for him to let it go. He took another deep breath, trying to center himself. He was ready to just turn and go, take his partner away so neither of them would have to listen to Porter’s attempts to rile them up. He was just about to do that when Porter spoke again.

            "But I must ask. Does it eat you up inside? Seeing my partner?" Porter asked, his voice soft but it held a cruel edge. "Seeing that I have what you lost? Do you miss it, Vincent? Having a partner that is soft and warm and alive-“

            “Is that why you brought a human? You wanted to rub it in my face that my partner is a vampire? I’m sorry to disappoint, but I love my partner for who they are, not what. The fact that you found an unempowered human to bring to the Summit just to..to oh…” The fire in Vincent’s eyes dimmed as his gaze went over Porter’s shoulder. Porter noticed how Lovely winced as they looked passed him. His smile dropped when he turned to see Treasure standing there, two glasses of red wine held in their hands.

            Something in his chest clenched when he saw the tears that shone in their eyes, he couldn't believe he'd been too invested in picking at the prince that he hadn't sensed their return. “Treasure…I-”

            “Is it true?” They interrupted, their voice trembling as they met his gaze, the hurt in their eyes pleading him to dispute it. One tear slipped free when he remained silent. “You just brought me here…to taunt him? Was that…was that all I was? Just a tool to dig at someone you don’t like?”

           They hated how their voice shook, the floating feeling they’d had when they walked away was now a sour taste in their mouth. They really should have known better. When something appeared too good to be true…it usually was. They had to stop themself from clenching their hands around the delicate glass they were holding. Cutting themselves on broken glass in a room full of vampires wasn’t a good idea.

           Though the thought did remind them to look away from Porter’s eyes. He’d Tranced them once during their first night together. Then, it’d been exhilarating to be completely at his mercy, but now? The thought that he could just look into their eyes and make them forget this whole thing? Had he done that to them already? Had he altered their memories and just left them with the good ones? Were their memories even true?

           “Treasure-“

           “Don’t. You don’t get to call me that anymore.” They snapped before they snorted, their tone bitter. “Of course you call me that. You always planned on flaunting me. To show me off to try and make someone envious. So, what was your plan after tonight? Wipe my memories and make me forget everything now that you don’t need me? You know, it’s one thing to use someone for a fling. But this is another level of-of fucked up. I thought…I really thought.” They cut themselves off as their voice broke, biting down on their lower lip to stop it from trembling. The extravagant clothes he’d gifted them suddenly felt too tight, too itchy. Or maybe that was just because they felt so dirty now.

          “No! No, I wasn’t going to do that. I-“ Porter’s voice was strained, not the smooth tone he usually adopted. He took a step toward them but the splash of liquid on his face gave him pause. He blinked in shock as wine dripped from his hair, the crimson droplets hitting the marble tiles underfoot.

           Treasure's hands shook as they dropped their arms, though the kept the empty wineglasses in their grasp. It was so tempting to throw them at the man in front of them, to try and cause the same pain they felt. To make him bleed for the way their heart fractured in their chest.  They could feel the tears streaming down their face as they looked at Porter, though they kept their gaze firmly on his chest.

           "How dare you," they hissed, their voice choked with emotion. "How dare you play with my emotions like that. To make me think that you cared about me, only to use me like some cheap toy."

           Porter reached out for them but Treasure stepped back, their eyes filled with anger and hurt. "Don't touch me," they spat out. "I trusted you." They could feel eyes on them, their exchange drawing attention that had their face flushing with more heat than just anger. They bit down on the other words they felt bubbling up, nails biting into their palms as they turned on their heel and strode away from him.

           "Treasure, please, just look at me-" Porter's words died in his throat as Lovely stepped between them. He could feel his hair stand on end from the static that was in the air. Even with the loss of their power from their Turning, strong emotions had a way of drawing on the electro sparks that still lingered in their core and charged through their veins.

           "Back off, Porter," Lovely growled, their eyes flashing with anger. "You've caused enough damage for one night. Let them go." It was a knee jerk reaction to step between them, to protect the human they could see a fragment of themselves in. But they doubted Treasure was latent like they had been. They had no powers to protect themselves with. So, if Porter tried to pull Treasure away, Lovely would stand between them. And with Vincent standing beside them, ready to pounce if Porter made another move closer, they couldn’t find it in themselves to worry.

           "I can't just leave-" Porter tried to argue before Sam's voice cut him off. Porter hadn't even realized that the wolf shifters and their mates had taken a position around Treasure. He knew the wolves had made a business out of security, but he hadn’t expected them to be so quick to step up at a function they were merely guests at. Maybe it had something to do with the way that Sam’s lupine partner was glaring at him, if they’d been Shifted, he could only guess that their hackles would have been standing up and their teeth bared.

          "We will make sure they are safe, Porter. It's best you leave." Sam's voice was low but clear, his tone conveying the seriousness of the situation. But it was the disappointment in the southern drawl that made Porter wince. He wasn’t that close to Sam, but he didn’t hate the ‘surly’ duke. He hadn’t expected the disappointment to sting as it did.

           Porter knew better than to argue, not with so many eyes on him. Not with Vincent and his partner ready to attack if he tried to reach Treasure, and that wasn’t including the four Shifters and the Stealth that were guarding them. Not with a room full of old bloods that were enjoying the free entertainment at his own expense. He nodded curtly, his eyes lingering on the way Treasure's shoulders shook before the Alpha's mate placed a reassuring hand there. He turned on his heel and disappeared into the crowd. He hated the feeling in his chest, like something had been carved out and taken from him. He despised that every step he took felt like a mistake.

           He shouldn't care! Treasure was a fling! They were just someone to have fun with, to indulge with! He'd only known them for a few weeks, and he doubted that the Department would even approve his request to make them an informed unempowered. It was child's play for him to alter their memories to make them forget the magic parts of their time with him, or make them forget him entirely. They weren't supposed to matter.

          So why did Porter feel like he'd just lost something precious? Why did the sight of their eyes welling with tears make him want to pull them close and comfort them? Why did the thought of Vincent, or his partner or the Shaw Pack comforting them make his throat burn with bile? Why did the thought of never hearing their quiet laugh feel him with dread? Why was he already missing the way their eyes sparkled in mischief as they teased him? Why did it feel like someone had reached into his chest and was squeezing his heart?

         Just how was he going to fix this?

oh yeah im down& i appreciate the compliment!<3 im hesitant to over-speak, but i know ikuni & saito have explicitly said anthy is based off lalah sune from mobile suit gundam.. lalah is from bombay (mumbai) & was trafficked into the flannigan institute (2d space military experimentation) as a means to experiment n find the answer on newtypes, which r basically an esoteric arbitrarily defined concept from gundam to gundam thats exploited in the space age military apparatus. lalah sune in the uc gundam series is used as a plot device: its one of char’s greatest mistake/s in his culpability in lalah’s situation, therefore once again violating his father zeon’s revolutionary precepts on what the newtypes were for, and one of amuro’s greatest mistake/s in that he made a brief but rather profound bond w/ such a ~kindred spirit~ n ended up being the one who killed her. she ends up haunting both of them in char’s counterratack & while i thought that was enjoyable to watch.. its laughably easy to read lalah as a pretext for amuro + char’s later fixation on eachother (& tomino even encourages it). ultimately, lalah’s own characterization, much less any story arc on how she was the means to introduce newtypes in the gundam series is tertiary to what she represented to amuro and char. now why am i talking about lalah here? bc ikuni+ saito r explicitly inspired by her in making anthy n ima try to say my piece in how ikuni, and the rgu narrative in both animanga treat anthy (& akio, as a result of being her brother)’s racialization. a lot of shoujo animanga period always has the trope of the character or two at the most who r noticeably darker than the pale-skinned cast, yet theyre never really clearly defined as who or what they are much less is this used to supplement their characterization. with rgu, as u have discussed before, ikuni nem use eternity as a motif. like what does it mean to be eternal? n all. u have anthy and akio, these two darker skinned (indian) characters like lalah, being seen as the vanguard , the introduction to and the disseminator of this esoteric concept that ever eludes the rest of the cast. u have these indian characters who play into these new-age stereotypes , namely how the new age has coopted a lot of the indian faiths & refuse to see yalls cultures as something that actually evolves, but is stagnant + ‘eternal’. the modern world is outside, ohtori headed by akio is the cycle of life repeating over& over n over again. when it comes to the vitriolic protracted abuse + projection anthy faces thru the series, its implicit that this is bc shes a darker skinned girl in a sea of lighter skinned people & abused by her older brother. i cant say if it was ikuni nems intention in doing this but the canon is ample for this argument n how i read this idea of being the rose bride , the ultimate target for humanity’s hate to be a commentary in part on what it means to be a girl/woman of color. dios having the burden to save all of humanity is the archetypical prince, and the expectation on boys of color to prematurely ‘rise up’ n ‘be the man’ so & anthy pulling her brother away from this burden made her a target to all of Humanity, metaphorically for refusing to play the martyr. n ive faced shit in the past for articulating such& bc im a bw, ppl have seemed to misinterpret me saying this as saying ‘anthy is black’ LOL. the fandom is woefully reluctant to tackle this, bc there is no immediate white (european) involved. they want to say utena tenjou n em are ‘white’ bc theyre so eurocentric that this is the only way they can think. when these are japanese creators , creating characters n r relying on stereotypes of indian spirituality + people to define them in relation to the japanese characters. like its a reason they made anthy , the rose bride, the witch, based off lalah sune & not like. utena or shiori yk? the question of sexuality tied to this is rly weighted too, esp bc anthy (+ akio?) sport the marriage colored bindi, but i feel like that was the most intentional they went there

I am doing good! 😊 i wanna ask about Nix in Inky Mystery AU, not sure if you answered that before- but whats his role exactly in IM?? Is he an ally to the questers?? And whats his talent?? :3

Interesting question! I’m so glad people are showing interest in Nix! I appreciate it a lot!

I wont explain too much about his backstory right not (because that’s a whole mess of lore) but he was picked up by Mickey’s circus in Europe and taken to America. He performs in the circus by doing flying and fire trick stunts. They call him the “human pheonix” (ironically enough). Whenever he’s not doing shows he helps in any way he can to make other shows go smoothly. (Also making sure that there aren’t any fire hazards that could burn down the circus) and is (kind of) a quote-unquote “magic expert” on fantastic creatures or any kinds of magic the circus comes across (although his knowledge on the subject isn’t all that vast).

Later on as mickey and ozzy become more involved in the quest he’d show up from time to time offering to help the questers in any way he can. Mostly running errands for red, granny, and oddswell. Delivering messages between the house and the circus. Helping to distribute medicine for the sick. (Especially after the fire) He uses his ability to fly to help people in any possible way.

In terms of people he interacts with he’d be kidna close to Boris and Winston. (Especially when boris starts coming around for sword lessons with mickey) and Winston because…. Fire. I’d like to say that he’d interact with cup from time to time (but that might be just because I’m obsessed with cup lol) and Holly and Felix a little because ancient magical creature. :P

(I try not to push my OCs into main plot stuff. Bc that always feels weird to me, but sometimes i like to indulge)

His talent is Sight. He has weirdly good vision. I have a list somewhere of his capabilities but i dont really care to look for it. Main things relevant to IM is he’s able to see for long distances. X-ray, heat signatures, he can see through some magic (like glamor spells), and he can see everything in color. Thing is he doesn’t realize he shouldn’t see color so he’ll offhandedly mention how much he loves the colors of some flowers or compliments someone’s eyes and just get weird looks in return.

REFLECTION TIME IN HONOR OF LORD ARES!!

Often, I notice my soul family in the nature and signs around me—and anytime I notice, I experience a strong sense of joy. And I even lately noticed the signs of them having been with me throughout my life.

To be honest, I should have noticed the signs of being the child of many of my deities later lol—I've always been a bit afraid or anxious during storms, especially when the power goes out since I have a mild internet addiction and don't like hanging with my family that much, at least if it's my half sisters dad who's around. But anytime it's stormed, or even when there's been a tornado warning or heavy thunder, I've never been harmed. Mother always said it was because our house was guarded by Angels, and that might be true. However, when I was young, I'd also always point to a bright star in the night sky, and go 'That's my dad!' or 'That's dad!'. My biological dad had passed when I started that habit, so perhaps I was coping, though he wasn't the greatest guy when he was alive. There was a time in my life where I was strangely drawn to Eagles, I've always liked listening to thunder even if it sometimes frightens me a bit, and I've always had a weird connection to the color purple—I even see a lot of bulls and oak trees around me. And recently, I found out that Lord/King Zeus is one of my soul parents. And Queen Hera is also one of my soul parents as well.

Now that I think about it, I've had signs from Queen Hera too, I think. There was a period in my life where I was oddly fascinated with peacocks, and I've always wanted to for some reason see a cow up close and personal since I don't have any myself even if I live in the countryside. I've been drawn to images of royalty—though specifically royal feminine figures, especially crown symbols. And have even had a friend with the name Lotus-Flower online at some point. I've also always had a strong sense of loyalty, and have been sympathetic to characters who are widows or widowers (I think that's the term). I also strongly believe in women's rights and am very fond of children. And I've had multiple encounters with the Empress card. And I'm even strangely drawn to Apples. I've also always been fond of healthy family elements being depicted, especially in Bluey.

I've gotten signs from many of my other soul parents too—I had an oddly strong fixation on Lady Aphrodite when I was younger, including having seen most of her imagery. I've always adored chocolate, and have been drawn to wine, but I've never tasted it since I'm too young of course lol. I really liked swans when I was younger, and I especially like aesthetic images of them now—though I remember a time a swan almost attacked me. I've also been strangely drawn to dolphins, roses (white roses in particular), mirrors, seashells, and even doves. I always see a bunch of sparrows around me. And there's even pink myrtles growing outside my house. I've always been a hopeless romantic, and have greatly appreciated beauty, especially beautiful people like Marilyn Monroe, but have lately found beauty in everything around me. I've been strangely drawn to water, the color pink, pearls, I've been complimenting people a lot more lately, etc etc. It should have been obvious she was one of my soul moms tbh 😭

I've also been strangely drawn to lyres in the past, tortoises (and also baby turtles), I've seen imagery of hares and even rams, and I have a rooster living near me I'm pretty sure. I always see hawks around, have been drawn to strawberries around even if I've never tasted one (I technically have—I just didn't exactly like it, but I do like strawberry flavored things). I've had a strange urge to travel in the past, I frequently message people online and have had urges to send people messages through letters before—and I've always written emails to teachers in the past in a very formal lengthy manner, I've admittedly stolen little things if I didn't think it'd matter if I did before (they weren't things with a price—dw)—and have always gotten away with it (I always felt guilty though, which is why I don't steal much anymore). I get weird urges to run or just speed through certain places a lot. I've seen onions, garlic, fish and pork pop up a lot for some reason. I see feathers occasionally around me. I've always really liked eggs—and have also been strangely drawn to coins or imagery of wealthier lifestyles. And I'm also a writer. I don't know why I didnt notice the signs of Hermes being my soul dad and being around before.

I've always been weirdly drawn to scorpions even if we don't often get them around here, and even found a dead one in my laundry room after I did some communication with Lady Isis. I've been strangely drawn to birds and cows—sycamore trees, depictions of cow horns, lilies, and even the colors red and black. I only found out she was a soul parent a few months ago, and even only found out of her existence a few months ago, but Lady Isis was also one of my soul parents. Willows, roses, and lotuses have left me strangely drawn in—along with the Lapis Lazuli crystal.

And again, I've always been drawn to storms, thunder, and rain—yet also, I've been drawn to hammers. Trees are apparently my plant guide. I've always liked the ideas of weddings. I had a small fixation on Thor in the past. I've been experiencing a lot of goat and cattle imagery lately along with many other horned creatures. Amethyst is literally my birth stone. And I've always liked the color of sky blue and red. I also have the Strength card as my birth card, and have kept strong despite everything I'm put through. So seeing that Lord Thor was a soul parent of mine didn't surprise me. I think he might be reaching out. Though that's a bit surprising since when I learnt of him being my soul dad, I hadn't spoken with him ever at all. Not to my knowledge anyway. Perhaps I should ask later.

Appearance wise if it matters I'm kinda short, around 163 cm (I think that's 5'3 or 5'4 in feet?), long wavy dirty blonde hair and green eyes

I'm pretty shy and self-conscious, I'm always so afraid of being a bother to others that I end up distancing myself from most people despite hating being alone. Once I feel comfortable with someone however (which mostly means I feel assured that my presence is actually wanted not just tolerated) I tend to be really affectionate and clingy. I'm a bit of a pushover and an air-head. I'm a huge animal lover, but I especially favor dogs and horses. do you have the same religious beliefs as your parents? There are definitely some overlaps. My dad is Jewish and my mom is what I would call casually spiritual. If you made a Venn Diagram of their truest beliefs, then I would probably fall somewhere in the middle. Then there are my own interpretations and understandings which expand into territory beyond either one of them. Overall, though, I think I have more in common with my dad because he’s a deep diver within his own religion, and religion and spirituality are topics that interest me. We can have some really great discussions on the matter.

which floor of your house/building are you on now? I’m on the second floor.

are there any maps hanging in your room? No.

are you often a third wheel? or is someone a third wheel to you? I felt like that for the longest time at the animal shelter. I knew people generally liked and appreciated me, but I wasn’t really fitting in. However, I don’t feel that way as much now, not with the new batch of workers back in cattery. I’m still kind of third-wheely (because I’m shy/socially awkward and also a good deal older than they are), but not to the same drastic extent. I feel much more included, relevant, and free to be my silly and sarcastic self. I had it in my head that the problem might be me (and admittedly, some of it probably was and I do still have some work to do), but now it’s like…oh. I was likeable the whole time?!?!

Uhmmm, I think I've been here for about 4 months (had to check) but it feels like much longer.

My url is something I had wanted to try out for a while, and I was obsessed with Once Upon A Time at the time, so I chose 'the mad hatter' flipped two letters, and it became what it is today :)

I do not wear contacts or glasses, but fun fact! as a child I hated the fact that I had boring old brown eyes, and always wanted blue ones. Now though, I like my eye color.
