Merlot has had a weird day today, for one, everything looking a little different. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation kicking in, so he returned to the Winery, the sky already dark by the time he had returned… it had been a long day, or maybe two, he lost track.

He pushed open the door to the winery and took in the sight of the place that had been his home when he was a child, briefly his ear folding down as he looked around, tugging down the bandana covering his face as he looked around. He had kept it as clean as he could over the past few years but never under his care had it been this clean, his brows furrowing together as he looked around. It hadn’t been this clean since he was a child.

His defenses were up rather quickly, prowling through the winery, avoiding any creaky floorboards, anything that might give away he was in the house to any trespassers, though seeing a light on in his papas office made him hiss lowly, approaching the door and opening it, about to draw his blade only to see his papa, his eyes widening as he stared at Diluc, a Diluc who looked very much alive.

Diluc felt his heart skip a beat as he met those green eyes—so unmistakably his son’s, yet framed by a face hardened with age and battle. The red streaks in the man’s hair, his stance, and the scars carved into his skin spoke of years and hardships that couldn’t belong to the little boy he’d kissed goodnight just hours ago. His jaw clenched, fingers tightening on the hilt of his blade as he steadied his voice, though a hint of disbelief laced his words.

“Merlot?” he demanded, his tone both a question and a warning. “How is this…?”

He took a step forward, eyes never leaving the man who so closely resembled his son yet radiated a wary, almost haunted maturity that felt foreign. Diluc’s mind raced through possibilities—visions of the Abyss, perhaps an elaborate trick or illusion. He raised his blade slightly, ready to counter any sudden moves, his gaze fierce yet searching.

“What sort of Abyssal trickery is this?” His voice was low, almost a growl, as he searched the face in front of him for some sign, some undeniable proof, that this wasn’t his little Merlot.

But there, in the eyes he recognized and the way this Merlot stood—poised but a little unsure—he could see a flicker of the child he’d held and protected all those years. His guard lowered just a fraction as he searched Merlot’s face for answers.

i know this has been said 473773474833 times by the kavetham/haikaveh shippers and probably even nonshippers, but i'll say it again. I finally finished the genshin summer event and did the little after quest in sumeru and.....every time kaveh is sneaking around trying not to be noticed coming out of alhaithams house it's just such a gay vibe. he's basically screaming "I can't be caught being gay in a homophobic society!" even if that's not what the game writers are *actually* saying. that's just how it comes off and they can't make it come off any other way. with hoyo's gay history, it makes me wonder if it's on purpose and all a cover-up to have a technically different reason for it so they can get away with it lmao but we will never know.

The show tried so hard to make Adrien a perfect puppet that any possible dream or ambition he could have would be tainted by others. That's why it's hard to picture what job would suit Adrien or what he will become when he grows up. In every fanfic he either becomes CEO, baker or a physics professor( based on an off-hand comment "This cat got physics in the bag"). But neither of those feel like something Adrien would have wanted to become.

I think he could become a good therapist with his experience of being a therapy cat to Marinette and his emphatic nature. He could use his experiences to help people with similar problems, so that they would not suffer like he did. Is what could possibly happen, had miraculous not made Adrien Marinette's prized boyfriend. However that doesn't feel right either.

It's like he is Schrodinger's Adrien. You don't know what can become of him, unless he opens up. He can be anything you want, also not at the same time. What job do you think would fit him?

I honestly don't know! I like the baker idea, I think that's something Adrien would want to do, but I honestly can't think of anything. But I do agree that the show itself doesn't care about that question, or Adrien in general, because he only exists to be the love interest. He could have been so much.

It's been a few years since I've posted it and I can confidently say that I don't struggle with the comphet nearly as much as I used to, I have a bit more clarity on where I am nowadays (being nearly 3 years clean from addiction has definitely been a help ahah). Maybe I'll do a follow up comic/post sometime.
