I just saw the FNAF movie (I was invited by the cinema to see it for free before you shout at me) and it’s actually surprisingly decent. I don’t know how someone who’s unfamiliar with the games would find it but I actually enjoyed myself. If you’re a fan of the games I would recommend you definitely do NOT download it illegally online *wink wink* because Scott Cawthon is a stinky Republican pro-lifer who DEFINITELY deserves your hard-earned money to spend on funding bigots *nudge*

Closed starter for @misfitpuzzlepieces (Ella)
Chloe grit her teeth as she tried to tune out Lucifer's voice as he regaled Ella with another story of one of his sexcapades with Eve while she worked. Most of the time, she was able to avoid it, but unfortunately, they decided to talk about it AT HER DESK. Lucifer perched on her desk talking about aquarium sex with Eve who had snuck him in after hours and Ella in Lucifer's usual seat hanging on his every word.
"And Eve did this thing with a conch shell," Lucifer was saying, twisting his arm and hand like he was turning a door knob. "It was very creative. I'll draw you a diagram." Okay, this had to stop. Chloe could barely handle hearing about it, but drawing a diagram? No. Too far. She blocked his hand with her own as he reached for one of her pens. "No," she deadpanned. "We're good. We get it. I feel like I am right there with you."
Chloe realized that she said the last sentence with a tad of irritation in her voice. She didn't mean to, but it would definitely go over Lucifer's head. At least, she thought it would because that's what would usually happen. She'd say something sarcastic and he'd ignore it or take it literally, but this time it seemed like he heard it and he seemed concerned. "Detective, when you said you were fine with hearing about my romantic life with Eve....." NOW you understand me!? She snapped, silently.
"Still am," she answered, her voice dripping with frustration and sarcasm. "Super fine. Fine with the aquarium story. Fine with the vat of melted chocolate story with the boning of the entire cast of Cirque du Soleis story-" She was interrupted by Lucifer chuckling. "It's true," he said to Ella. "And I- personally, I can't get enough because it's awesome," Chloe continued, even more irritated by Lucifer's interjection and not bothering to hide it. "But, right now, I am trying to concentrate."
She was grateful when Joan, a Rookie, showed up pointing out that Lucifer had brought donuts. Apparently, he'd brought them for the Monday morning meeting where they were being shown the tutorial for the new computer system only to find out that it was Wednesday and he'd missed it. But, it was probably for the best. Lord- Lucifer's dad- knows what kind of pictures he'd upload or if he decided to live stream one of his sex parties.
As if things couldn't get any worse, Lucifer had to take Joan's donut AWAY from her because he'd accidentally picked up a box of "Candy Dandy Rave" donuts instead of regular glazed ones. Chloe fought the urge to facepalm. Lucifer NEVER slipped up like this, let alone in under ten minutes. But, she knew that he didn't mean to. He wouldn't be here if he didn't want to and he seemed upset about missing the meeting. Maybe if she had him work with her on something they usually did together before.....everything. Before Eve. Before Kinley. Before she saw his face.
"Lucifer, if you would really like to help, we could get into these case files," she offered. "Why don't we do that?" And that's when his phone buzzed. It was Eve. Had to be. "Oh, um, I would love to, Detective," he said, looking at his phone. "But, I'm gonna have to raincheck. Promised Eve I'd be home in time for the Naughty Raffle."
Chloe shook her head as Lucifer left. Every time Eve called or texted, he always went running. After the siege at Lux, he'd said that he still wanted to be partners, but for the past eight months, it felt like he only dropped in to say hello and talk about his sexcapades with Eve. He'd always gone on about his partying and sex exploits, but he was also dedicated to the job, to their partnership. Now.....
She noticed Ella out of the corner of her eye still sitting in Lucifer's chair. She could feel her staring at her. She'd come over BEFORE Lucifer showed up. Or was it at the same time? She didn't remember, but either way, Ella was still here and she didn't deserve the cold shoulder, let alone the same hostile treatment she gave Lucifer. "You got anything for me Ella?" she asked in a calm and friendly tone.

{SF9 Reaction} They get jealous of you fangirling at another group.
Kingdom Edition
{Requested by anon}
SF9 Masterlist
Main Masterlist
(Disclaimer: I kinda wrote mini scenarios for each of them b/c I love this concept so much ashfdgkkjs)
Youngbin
The two of you were pretty transparent with each other in the relationship so he knew you stanned many other groups besides his own. Nothing really bothered him, but that was until he joined Kingdom. While the two of you sat on your couch, cuddled against each other to rewatch the pilot episode, you kept commenting on Bang Chan’s performance and how he had such great leadership skills. Youngbin felt himself get jealous especially when the topic of leadership was brought up. He tried his best to conceal his expression so he raised his other hand that wasn’t wrapped around your waist to the side of his face. You noticed his behavior and immediately thought of a mischievous plan. After all, it wasn’t everyday that you saw your calm and composed boyfriend on the verge of breaking down from jealousy. You purposely escalated your fangirling on Bang Chan until Bin couldn’t contain his composure anymore and he unwinded his arm around your waist, got up, and stood in front of your view. You suppressed your laughter as you moved your head around in an attempt to watch the tv but he wasn’t impressed. His entire body moved along with wherever you moved and you ended up bursting out into giggles. You grabbed his waist to still him but he didn’t budge. “Kitten, I’m not going to stop until you praise me like you did with Bang Chan,” Youngbin said in a bitter tone. You stopped giggling and stood on the couch to match his height. Out of the blue, you showered his sour face with kisses and his expression immediately shifted into his signature eye smile. You pulled back and said sweetly, “How about I give you kisses instead?”
Inseong
Inseong just got back from his shooting for Kingdom and you welcomed him with your arms and wide opened for a hug. He always loved when you gave him a long, warm hug after a day of tiring work but today, he was a lot clingier than usual. He never pulled apart from the hug and walked forward, which caused you to topple over the soft couch. You giggled as he stuffed his face into the side of your neck and took a whiff of your scent. You wiggled around as he tickled you with his breath. In between your giggles you asked why he was being like a mopey puppy and he let out a long groan. He pulled apart and stared up into your eyes with his dopey ones and whined, “When we got ready to leave the shooting site for Kingdom, Chanwoo came up to me and told me how nice you were. How do you guys even know each other??” You chuckled at his pouty and jealous expression and placed your hand on top of his head. You played with his fluffy hair and told him in an amused tone, “Chani had his number and I love Chanwoo’s voice.” You saw Inseong pout again and you continued teasing him, “I couldn’t just give up on such a great opportunity. I am a dedicated ikonic.” The last sentence triggered him and he immediately hoisted his body up and peered down at you with jealousy, “I thought you love my voice.” You giggled and decided to stop teasing him before he exploded with even more jealousy and wrapped your arms around his neck. You pulled him down and connected your lips to his, “I love your voice the most.” He immediately replaced the pout on his lips with a wide smile.
Jaeyoon
You waited for Jaeyoon to finish taking a shower after he came back from his shoot for Kingdom so you sprawled yourself across your bed and decided to stream the youtube clips of previous Kingdom performances on your iPad. The thumbnail of The Boyz’s performance caught your eye and you clicked into the clip. You were so excited to see another version of The Stealer and also couldn’t wait to see your bias, Sangyeon, dancing to it. You were so absorbed into their beautiful choreo, you didn’t realize that Jaeyoon came out of the bathroom and was standing by the bed frame for a good ten minutes. He cleared his throat but you didn’t hear him through the loud audio. Jealously crept into his veins and he tried his best to cover it with sarcasm, “Should I dance to The Stealer so my baby will pay attention to me?” You finally heard him and chuckled at his behavior. You taunted him in response, “But it won’t be the same because you’re not Sangyeon.” Jaeyoon gasped, feigning hurt and took the device from your hands. He carelessly placed it on the bedside table before he flung himself onto the soft mattress. He hovered over you and said with amusement, “Well then I guess I have to show you why Jaeyoon is even better.”
Dawon
Dawon stared at you for the longest time in disbelief and chuckled out of nervousness as you sat beside him on the couch of his company’s dance studio. You made dramatic fangirl comments at Ateez’s Kingdom performance especially when Seonghwa appeared on the screen. You punched Dawon’s arm and told him to watch with you, excessively showering Seonghwa with praises. You weren’t oblivious to your boyfriend’s jealousy but you loved it whenever the opportunity came up. He has a tendency of sarcastically laughing with a hint of shy nervousness when he gets jealous and that was exactly how he was acting at the moment. Originally, you only wanted to see Ateez’s performance because you were a big fan of them and because you were waiting for Dawon to finish practicing. But when he came down and sat beside you, you unintentionally praised Seonghwa’s beauty on stage which sparked Dawon’s jealously and you couldn’t help but to continuously tease him and rile him up. As a result, you amped up your inner fangirl until Dawon couldn’t handle it anymore. “Okay that’s it,” He chuckled bitterly and grabbed your phone. You turned to him and he stared into your eyes with a pout and large puppy eyes. “Focus on me baby.” You swallowed down a laughter and extended your arm out for the phone and wailed, “But my Seonghwa!” At this rate, Dawon knew you were messing with him so he grabbed your arms and placed it around his neck before he proceeded to lift you up off the couch and onto him. He sat back down on the couch and had you on top of his laps. Quickly and cunningly, he shoved your phone underneath his butt and sarcastically remarked with amusement, “Come get your phone if you want to see your Seonghwa that badly.”
Rowoon
Rowoon had just come back from his shooting for Kingdom and you followed him around the house like a lost puppy. “Did you see Younghoon? Did you get to talk to him? How was it seeing him perform live??” You fired questions at him like an automatic rifle, clearly showing your enthusiasm as a Deobi, especially a Younghoon stan. Rowoon knew you really liked The Boyz and he was usually fine with your enthusiastic support for the group. He would even join you and fanboy himself when you watch their stages on Youtube. But Rowoon was exhausted after the shooting and was anticipating to have his s/o welcome him home with some love, something he missed so much after being apart from you for drama and Kingdom shootings. Instead, you were asking him about another man and that immediately sparked his jealousy. At first, he just let you ramble on as he took off his shoes and went to the bathroom to freshen up. He loves you and he usually will never pick a fight or act petty no matter how jealous he was. You knew that. You also knew that he was jealous the moment you opened your mouth. At first, you only wanted to get some intel from your boyfriend who had seen one of your biases in person but after seeing the jealousy that flashed in his eyes, you made it your mission to make Rowoon crack for once. You were enjoying yourself so much that you continued talking about Younghoon even as he was in the shower. You leaned against the marble sink and tried saying random nonsense to rile him up but he only chuckled at your fangirl behavior and continued to shower. Suddenly, a mischievous thought crossed your mind and you waited until Rowoon turned off the shower faucet and stepped out to initiate the plan. You feigned a curious, innocent stare at him and placed your hand beneath your chin as if you were deeply contemplating. “Babe, I’m curious about something...” He absentmindedly replied as he plugged in the hair dryer to the wall outlet, “Oh yeah? What is it?” You smirked and eyed him up and down, “Do you think Younghoon is as tall and built as you?” Rowoon froze midway through drying his hair. He turned towards you and turned the device off with a jealous look on his face, one that you have never seen before. You bit down on your lips to hold back a laughter. Gotcha. Before he could muster up a response you continued, “What about his laugh? Does he laugh like you do?” You stared at your boyfriend innocently and his face was flushed red with jealousy. He placed the hair dryer aside and suddenly hoisted you up on top of his broad shoulders, “Definitely not.” He said firmly and then chuckled before softly throwing you onto the cloud-like mattress. His face hovered closely above yours, “He will never be able to easily carry you like I just did nor could he ever make you smile the way I do.” You burst out into giggles as he proceeded to tickle you until you shower him with compliments the way you did with Younghoon.
Zuho
Zuho casually talked to you about his experience in Kingdom as he drove through the dimly lit streets. The two of you decided to go for a quick date late at night, mostly to avoid getting caught by the media, and he was beyond excited to tell you about meeting his seniors. You listened intently and responded with excitement as well since the both of you were huge fans of Btob. Zuho stopped talking once the car had arrived to the isolated park. The two of you laid on top of the car’s hood and gazed at the stars in the night sky and continued the conversation. Somewhere in the middle of your chat, you turned to him and pouted. You told him you wish you were there as well because you wanted to see and hear Minhyuk live. You emphasized with a big pout on your lips, “I want to see Minhyuk rap with his husky voice but also hear him sing with his honey smooth vocals.” Zuho froze for a second, your words not fully processing through his mind. He turned towards you and mumbled with slight jealousy, “I didn’t know you like Minhyuk that much.” He chuckled in disbelief and questioned you, “Husky voice? Honey smooth vocals?” He then became really flustered, caught by surprise at you fangirling more than usual. He kept blinking in disbelief, unable to accept the fact that you liked Minhyuk so much. You found amusement in his cute behavior and teased him even more. You placed your hands by your heart and said dramatically, “I could die happily once I hear Minhyuk live.” Zuho started to get really flustered, cheeks red with jealousy. You chuckled at your adorable boyfriend and squished his cheeks, “I’m messing with you babe! I’m a diehard Melody but my boyfriend is always the #1 person I’d die for.” You gave him a ridiculously sweet look and he caved in. He pulled you on top of him for a hug before the both of you accidentally slid off the side of the hood and onto the ground, with Zuho underneath you as a cushion. He grunted at the impact as you giggled uncontrollably.
Taeyang
When you were mindlessly humming to No Air in the kitchen after watching The Boyz’s latest Kingdom performance, Taeyang’s ears perked up and jealousy immediately ignited in his body. Yes, he gets jealous that easily. You would usually tell him how you enjoy watching The Boyz perform because it’s so satisfying and he would agree because it’s true. But you would also start to notice his pettiness everytime you mention them. He’d nod at your comments and agree but in a way that seems almost sarcastic. “Yeah they are great dancers,” he’d tell you. But then he’d look up at you and say, almost for confirmation, “But I’m a great dancer too.” You’d chuckled to yourself and agree or else you know he’ll be sulking for the rest of the day. But this time, you wanted to see how Taeyang gets when he’s really jealous. At first, No Air really was stuck on your head so you were humming to it. However, something mischievous struck you as you were making chocolate covered strawberries in the kitchen. You wanted to see how far you could take the joke so you purposely pressed his buttons. From the moment he heard you humming, he immediately dashed by your side and wrapped his arms around you as you boiled the chocolate. He laid his head on your shoulder and tried his best to subtly ask you, “Were you watching The Boyz’s performance again?” You replied with a yes and emphasized, “Juyeon is such a great dancer and his expressions are so intriguing,” and that’s when Taeyang lost it. He clung onto you as you were trying to cool down the chocolate and even while you were moving to grab the strawberries from the fridge, he’d stick to you like glue and kept asking you why you like Juyeon so much. “Babyyy,” he whined, “Did you forget about me??” He kept kissing your cheeks with his arms wrapped around you as you struggled to wash the strawberries. At the end, you gave up and twisted around to face him. His arms never let go of your waist as he continued saying jealous nonsense. You took your hand and squished his cheeks, “You are the best, most handsome and talented dancer, artist, and boyfriend okay?” He smirked, satisfied, and you giggled at his ridiculous face squished between your hand. He was just about to open his mouth to spew more nonsense and you shoved a strawberry in his mouth, “okay now shush babe. I love you but I want to eat my chocolate covered strawberries, preferably with the chocolate, so stop clinging onto me.”
Hwiyoung
Hwiyoung’s a fun-loving boyfriend and he wouldn’t just randomly get jealous even if you were meeting up with an ex. He respects your boundaries and trusts your decisions. You love him for that but it also wanted made you curious as to how your boyfriend would react when jealous. SO you decided to surprise him after his Kingdom shoot and went to pick him up with their manager. You hid in the van and surprised the boys when they came toward the vehicle. The eight boys already knew your devious plan and paid no mind to you acting unusually dramatic as you kept asking him if he talked to Hyunjin during the shoot and if you could meet him as well. He looked at you weirdly with a bit of skepticism, “You weren’t that interested in meeting him when I was on Idol Radio with him..why are you so eager now?” You flinched at his retaliation and quickly hopped into the van. You heard Rowoon and Juho snickered in the back and you glared at them for the mockery. As the engine started and the vehicle started down the road back to the dorms, you initiated your second attempt to get under your boyfriend’s skin. You pulled out your phone and watched the Stray Kids’s introduction stage on youtube without earphones. Subtly, you turned to Hwiyoung and asked with the most innocent and adoring eyes, “Babe I didn’t know Hyunjin looked so great with long hair.” At that comment, Hwiyoung’s expression slightly shifted. Almost immediately he responded with a more serious tone, “Even better than I did?” You held back your laughter and felt success creeping up. In the back of the van, you saw Rowoon and Zuho giving you a slightly surprised expression. You winked at them and got excited as your boyfriend gradually became jealous. When you all got back to the dorm, Hwi stuck to your side. You tried so hard not to laugh as he kept asking you with slight skepticism in his tone, “When did you like Hyunjin so much?” “Should I grow out my long hair again?” He acted like a kid got abandoned by his mother and needed to grab your attention. To your surprise, he acted in such a different way than you would’ve thought. But you found it so adorable so you teased him even more by turning the tv on to watch a Hyunjin fancam. Hwi caught you by surprise again as he plopped down on the couch beside you and wiggled adorably to get your attention. You raised the remote to your lips and masked your giggles, keeping note to tease him more often.
Chani
Another one that doesn’t get jealous often. Or ever actually. That’s just not the way he shows affection. But that was until things got a little too personal. Beside the sepgu boys, Chani has never really seen you interact with any of his other friends so he never understood actual jealousy. However, after the one time Chanwoo called Chani to thank him for his advice on Kingdom, he started to notice how much you liked Chanwoo and Ikon. Because of your boyfriend’s appearance on Kingdom, you started to take an interest on Ikon and became a fan of their music. It was true that you liked Chanwoo’s voice but it was never really to the extent of fangirling over him. That thought never crossed your mind until Chani kept asking you how much you liked Ikon, or most importantly, Chanwoo. From his point of view, he’d always notice how your face brightens while watching Ikon performances on the tv. He’d stare at you with a hesitant smile and when you asked him what he was staring at you for, he’d simply reply with a shrug, “You always seem so happy to see Chanwoo’s part in the song.” At first, you hadn’t put much thought into his comment until he continuously brought it up every time an Ikon music video appeared on tv. And so one day, you decided to tease him and hopefully see your boyfriend become an adorable, jealous mess. The two of you were browsing through Netflix shows in your bedroom since it was his free day. You had the remote as you struggled to find something remotely interesting to watch. The two of you slept until late afternoon, yet Chani was still as drowsy as before. You chuckled to yourself as he laid comfortably on your shoulder. Suddenly, he shifted on the bed and got up to go to the bathroom. You found this to be the perfect chance to rile him up so you quickly exited the Netflix page and went to youtube to watch a Chanwoo fancam. Chani came back and slightly flinched in surprise at the tv screen. Your eyes were glued to the tv screen and you ignored him as he crawled back onto the bed and asked, “I thought we were watching a show?” You smiled to yourself and told him you felt like watching Chanwoo dance instead. You were mentally preparing yourself to see Chani act adorably jealous but he took you by surprise and grabbed the remote from you. He turned the tv off and stared at you with dark lust in his eyes. You fell back against the headboard as he hovered over you. He whispered in a deep voice with apparent annoyance and jealousy in his tone, “Chanwoo this. Chanwoo that. It seems like you forgotten who your boyfriend is.” You chuckled nervously and told him you were just joking, but it was too late. Chani pulled the covers over the both of you and lets just say...you eventually got off bed to have your first meal of the day in the late evening.

The prince of lies (Loki x reader)
Soulmate AU: Every time your soulmate lies, their words are permanently written on your skin
Word count: 3140 Words
I think this is the last Soulmate one that I have on Wattpad as of right now
Father is dead. Your banishment... The threat of a new war...it was too much for him to bear. You mustn't blame yourself. I know that you loved him. I tried to tell him so, but he wouldn't listen.
The truce with Jotunheim is conditional upon your exile
Mother has forbidden your return
This is goodbye brother, I'm so sorry
Perhaps your senses have weakened after your many years of service
I'M NOT YOUR BROTHER I NEVER WAS!
I don't know what happened on earth to make you so soft! Don't tell me it was that woman?... Oh, it was. Well, when we're done here, maybe I'll pay her a visit myself!
You're not
(etc. more lies)
Lies...
Every single one of them. How did you know? Well, because they were printed all over your body.
Every single lie your soulmate ever told up until now graced your (s/c) skin.
How was a liar like that supposed to be a soulmate for you? Someone you could trust?
Yes, your so called soulmate would never be able to lie to you, for as soon as he tried the lie would appear on your skin. Had they only been some minor white lies, that would've probably been fine by you, but looking at the severity of those lies you could only shake your head in disbelief and sorrow for whoever had received those news.
Now ignoring the fact that those statements were lies, there were other aspects that made absolutely no sense. Those you had already researched quite a bit . Jotunheim for a start was a mythical place and the lies stated that apparently the liar and his brother were not from earth, which was complete nonsense was it not? Otherwise he had to be some kind of alien.
You were interrupted in the middle of your thought-process.
I missed you too
A new lie, gracing your forearm. Though this one seemed rather small and harmless, this man was still lying through his teeth and you had to carry every single one of those lies. How often had you been asked why your body was full of lies. Yet you never had an answer to those questions. He was your soulmate, even if he was a liar he had to be good somewhere, right?
Aliens and beings from other worlds did exist though. Thor the god of thunder and the events of New York city. Did they have soulmates as well? They had to, otherwise the statements on your features made even less sense.
But who?
Who would lie so much?
The thoughts in your head kept floating around as you got ready to meet up with your friend Anthony.
You started walking to a nearby park. Your usual meeting point, as you felt yet another familiar tingle. Pushing it to the back of your head in hopes of ignoring it, you kept walking towards your friend and hugged him "It's good to see you" you smiled but only got a confused stare in return "What?" "You uh...got a new one there, a long one." A sigh escaped your lips at the reply of Anthony. "Well, where? And does it at least make sense?" Your friend just shook his head as he took a picture of the lettering on your collarbone "No, but here. Maybe you can understand some of this. It looks like sarcasm this time." He gave you his phone to look at the picture. Great another one.
Wait? Sarcasm? One thing you had to give your soulmate credit for were his snarky remarks, at least those sometimes put a smile on your face. You zoomed in on your collarbone as you read what was engraved on the previously clear space of (s/c) skin.
You know this is wonderful! This a tremendous idea! Let's steal the biggest most obvious ship in the universe and escape in that! Flying around the city, smash it into everything in sight and everyone will see it! It's brilliant Thor! It's truly brilliant...
Thor?! You could not believe your eyes. Whoever your soulmate was knew Thor. It was a shock and a relief as well. If he was friends with this god he couldn't be so bad, could he? You did however, question why Thor would spend time, let alone steal some kind of spaceship with this person.
"I see. I can't say I understand what it's about, but whoever this liar of mine is, seems to be friends with Thor..." The words left your mouth as you handed the phone back to your dear friend. The two of you sat down on a wooden bench underneath a tree, but when you heard Anthony speak up, your mind went blank "He could also be Thor's brother, doesn't that one lie a lot?" It took you a few moments to fully comprehend what he meant "No, that'd be impossible, that man is sitting behind bars for the rest of his life. Besides, that guy is evil. My soulmate could never possibly be a bad person." that last part was a lie. Your soulmate was a liar, he could easily be a bad person, you just hoped with all your might that he wasn't"
■ ■ ■
"Trust my rage" the god of mischief spoke. Just as he had finished his sentence he felt a tingle on his wrist. A rare occasion if it was a real lie, usually it was just a sarcastic comment which most of the time he enjoyed quite a bit. These sarcastic statements often caused a small smile to appear on his face, the few nice moments that made the time in his cell more bearable, not only did he find them funny and witty, they also stood for his soulmate, for someone that was destined for him and also that he was a perfect fit for whoever this soulmate was. He looked at his bare wrist expectantly, waiting for one of the snarky remarks that his soulmate had spoken to appear. When it did appear though, it broke his heart. His cold expression fell for a second as he looked at the writing on his wrist. Quickly regaining his cold exterior before anyone would notice. It was too late though. His brother had seen the trickster's face falter just in time and he had also seen what Loki was staring at. Before the raven-haired could pull his hand back he felt it had already been grabbed "Let go of me Thor!"
"Brother, just let me see!" Thor replied loudly, he wanted to know what this was about. Loki looked away in shame as he let his brother read what his soulmate had said. My soulmate could never possibly be a bad person. As he finished reading he loosened his grip on the other's hand, allowing Loki to finally pull his hand back "I'm sorry" he muttered. "They think I'm a monster too..." The black haired god whispered as he sat down in the small ship, his stone cold exterior dropping by the second. Was a soulmate not meant to understand? Was there really no hope for him?
"Loki..."
"Stop it. Don't pity me for something that's my own fault!" he screamed. He just needed a moment to calm down.
■ ■ ■
"How is this possible? How do I deal with this? I can't just ignore it can I? No" before you knew it you found yourself in front of a massive building. Stark tower. Your (e/c) eyes stared at the monument in awe, but you soon shook your head in order to resume your task. "Enter the tower and talk to the avengers on how to communicate with Thor. You have to do this because Thor knows your soulmate..." you repeated in your head as you entered the building...
...or so you thought.
In the blink of an eye you were consumed by light and gone from where you stood. Was that some kind of security system Stark invented?
Your eyes fluttered open just to see some old man on a throne before your sight went black and your body dropped to the ground unconscious.
■ ■ ■
"Are you certain Heimdall?" the king asked, looking at the unconscious human, who was now dressed to fit the Asgardian culture. He was inspecting some of the tattoos on their body "You were right they definitely are his soulmate. Though they seem to be a rather honest person, for Loki does not have as many markings on him. As far as I know at least"
What were they talking about? Who were these people, why did they speak of you in a connection to Loki, it made no sense. None at all. You tried to look like you were still passed out.
But apparently you failed in your acting. "The human is awake" a different voice spoke. Maybe it belonged to this Heimdall person.
A sigh of defeat left your lips as you opened your eyes. You tried to take in your surroundings when suddenly, your eyes went wide from the sensation on your skin.
You sighed as you waited for the writing to appear on one of your upper arms. "Oh boy this is a long one" You muttered underneath your breath, but it seems Odin had heard, for he raised an eyebrow as his eyes followed your gaze to your arm which you had uncovered from the strange clothing you were dressed in. The king had taken a hold of your arm to read your words.
You really think I cared about Frigga? About any of you? All I ever wanted was you and Odin dead at my feet! Malekith! I am Loki of Jotunheim and I bring you a gift! I ask only one thing in return, a good seat from which to watch Asgard burn.
"Fools!" Odin shouted.
Meanwhile you thought your eyes were about to pop out of their sockets as you tried to comprehend the meaning behind those words. The only thing you could focus on however, was the name etched in your skin. His name. Loki.
Your thoughts were interrupted when the Allfather spoke up again "Send guards to Svartálfheimr and retrieve my sons! Bring the Aether back if it's still there!"
His sons?
It was at that moment. Realisation hit you like a bus. You were in Asgard and this man before you had to be Odin then. Your brows furrowed. Why were you here? How did you get here?
"Come. You must have many questions." The king said as you got up and followed him "I am Odin of Asgard. Tell me child what is your name?" "M-my name is (Y/n) (L/n). How-how did I get here?" you stuttered as you looked around still walking. "I gave orders to bring you here" He replied casually.

The Jotun prince laid on the ground panting as his brother cradled him in his strong arms "No. No, no, no. Oh, you fool, you didn't listen." "I know." Loki spoke, his voice quiet and weak "I'm a fool. I'm a fool." he gasped in pain. "Stay with me, okay?" The god of thunder spoke close to tears as he pat the other's face to keep him conscious. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" the young god apologized gasping for air but he was quickly shushed by his brother "shhh...it's okay" Thor nodded as tears welled up in his blue eyes. "It's all right. I'll tell father what you did here today" He spoke again the tears now making their way down his cheeks. "I didn't do it for him" The raven haired spoke calmly. As he took his dying breath he spoke his last words "Tell them, I didn't want to be a monster" Just like that the god closed his eyes and went limp in his brother's arms. "NOOO!" Thor shouted in pain and hugged Loki. "I will find them and tell them in your stead brother" He whispered into the other's ear before he let go and left with Jane. Loki's limp body was left in the sand and dirt.

"I take it, you know who your soulmate is, judging by your reaction. It must certainly be hard to carry all the lies of the god of mischief and lies" Odin raised his eyebrow. "I have heard quite a few stories about him indeed." You replied taking a sip of your tea. You were seated in the throne room across from Odin as he tried to answer some of your questions.
In the middle of your conversation a guard entered and as soon as he spoke up you felt a burning and tingling just underneath your chest.
"Forgive me my liege. I've returned from the Dark World with news. " The guard spoke.
"Thor?" Odin asked with hope. The guard dropped his head a bit at that "There was no sign of Thor or the weapon, but..." As soon as the man spoke up again the tingling began once again in the same place as before. "What?" the Allfather asked.
The tingles continued "We found a body."
Silence filled the air for a moment before Odin spoke "Loki"
The guard just looked at his king with sad eyes. The burning had stopped. "Thank you. Bring this one..." The old king pointed at you "...to Heimdall. Tell him to return them to Midgard. Then you may be dismissed for the day."
Your chin dropped as the guard nodded and turned to you. Oh now you were definitely not going to tell the god that Loki was alive and lying. He grabbed you roughly and brought you out of the throne room and to another room, the room you had woken up in. "Gather your belongings mortal before you return to Midgard." Midgard? Was that what they called earth. As the guard was about to close the door you shouted after him "Mister guard man! Wait!" He raised an eyebrow at you, seemingly amused, but he waited for you to speak nonetheless and so you did "Loki can't be dead." He stared at you confused "Well he is."
Another tingle. This time on your finger, but you ignored it for now seeing as you were focused on the conversation you were having "No. I don't think you understand. I-I know he is alive. I can feel it." A small smile was placed on your lips as the man before you began to laugh, he seemed curious though "And how would a little mortal like you know that? Oh you feel it, of course"
"I-I don't know how I know" That was a lie for you did know why and how "I just know." You finished, he seemed distracted though. While the guard was distracted you took a moment to look at the side of your pinkie finger. "No." You mumbled when you realized the man before you was your soulmate, disguised as a guard. "What?" The man asked. "Nothing" you lied, a small smile on your lips. You were scared yes, but he wouldn't hurt his own soulmate, now would he? "Would you please come in and close the door Loki?~" You asked innocently.
His eyes went wide, confused as to how a simple human like you could look through his disguise with such ease. So he complied. He didn't really have a choice now. As he closed the door, he dissolved his disguise. Green smoke surrounded the man as Loki the trickster god stood before you now. He was stunning. Yes there was a deep hatred for this man inside you, but he did something good today and you hadn't met him before. Well not personally, you had however seen him on TV as he tried to take over the world, you had heard he was under some kind of mind control though. "You are a curious little thing, aren't you?" Loki spoke as he approached you "Who are you and how did you know it was me mortal?"
You grinned "I'm no one important to you" Your smile widened as you noticed him being distracted again. You watched in awe as your statement appeared on the back of his hand.
The black haired god stared at you in disbelief "No...no no no no. How? That's not possible" Before you realized what was happening he was already too close for comfort. He grabbed one of your arms and shoved up your sleeves. Perhaps your senses have weakened after your many years of service. Disbelief filled Loki's eyes as they pierced your own gaze. He let go of your hand as some kind of hatred but also hope filled his eyes "You hate me. You think I'm a monster." He spoke with clenched teeth. He was trying to compose himself, to seem calm, but you easily looked through his disguise. "I do not" You replied, your (e/c) eyes were soft as you looked at him. He stood there, waiting for the tingling and burning somewhere on his pale body. But the feeling never came. You had been truthful. "I know better than to lie to my soulmate." The words escaped your throat before you could even think. "Why did you say it then?!" The god growled. "Said wha-" The mischievous man cut you off "My soulmate could never possibly be a bad person" he quoted your lie "what changed?"
"I-I" you were speechless "I said that, knowing that anyone could be my soulmate, I tried to convince myself to see things positively. I did not know it would affect you as it was about soulmates in general. I am sorry for causing you pain Loki"
"So you don't think I'm a bad person?" he asked, turning your words around "I do know of the bad things you did. You tried to take over my home. I cannot confirm that you are a completely bad person though. I-I don't know you well enough to judge. For I try to build my opinion when I get to know people myself, even if this person is the prince of lies. Besides, you can't be too bad if you are my soulmate, at least not towards me" You grinned, reaching out your hand for him to shake "I'm (Y/n) by the way."
Loki looked at your hand, a smirk on his lips as he held your hand in his and brought it up to his lips to press a small kiss against the back of it. His eyes never leaving yours as a blush took over your features "It is a pleasure to meet you (Y/n). My name is Loki and I do not think I'll send you off to Midgard just yet, if ever..." The last two words were not meant for you to hear but you did. "Before we get to know each other better my soulmate~" he smirked "I have to take care of my father and brother." He turned around and walked towards the door "You stay here for now" the man winked at you before he turned himself into the guard again and left the room.

Kiss It, Make It Better
Steve Harrington x Henderson!Reader
summary: Y/N craves smoking with someone new, so who better than Steve Harrington.
A/N: this is based solely on the ‘it’s only marijuana’ line in season three bc i am in love with stoner!Steve
warnings: drugs <3, cursing, fluff
word count: 2.4k
Y/N and Dustin had the routine since Y/N got her license, that once a month they would have a sibling drive, in which they would drive around with the sole intent of getting caught up with one another. Given all the shit they had been through over the past few years, it naturally became their own special form of therapy. The Events of Starcourt on the Fourth of July and the days prior were once again weighing heavily on the two during their first drive since.
“What was it like being drugged?” Dustin asked, his curiosity weaving its way into his voice.
“Weird. It kinda felt like everything was the best thing ever, but it also came at the worst time. It was also weird that it was with Steve Harrington and Robin.”
“Is it like weed?”
“Is it like what?” Y/N knew the answer, it was no, but she had no idea why her little brother was deciding to ask her that in that exact moment.
“When you guys were drugged, I kept asking Steve if he did drugs, and he said that he only did marijuana. I wanted to know if they were comparable. So, is it like weed?”
“First off Dusty, you don’t ‘do’ marijuana, you smoke it. And secondly, I’m not answering that question, you can save that query for Steve.” Steve. Y/N had a lot of thoughts about him, it was interesting to hear about him from the rumors in high school in comparison to how she saw him act regularly. And ever since she started smoking to calm herself down, she has craved smoking with someone other than Robin, maybe Steve was worth a shot.
“Speaking of Steve, he said he might be over a lot over the next few nights while his parents are away, just so you know.”
“Oh? Is he coming tonight?”
“No, not tonight. He isn’t off work till 9 and mom doesn’t want him coming an hour before my dumbass bedtime— I still don’t get why she just NOW gave me a bedtime while you don’t even have a curfew.” Her brother started rambling, but all she could pay attention to was that he was going to be home alone tonight. Would it be that crazy of her to show up after all the trauma they had been through over the past 3 years?
“It’s because I’m legally an adult, so she’s treating me as such, and you’re just going into high school, she wants you to be safe. But okay, guess we’ll just have to see him soon.” The two drove around for a while longer before returning home. As the hours in between past, Y/N glanced towards her bookshelf, in which held a hidden stash of weed. She could always tell her mom she was just going to Robin’s, she would never try to prevent Y/N from seeing Robin.
She walked toward the bookshelf with soft footing, and with a gentle touch she plucked the hard covered book from the shelf. Inside lay two pre rolled joints she bought from her dealer and some bud Murray had snuck her after Hopper’s memorial. She snapped the book closed and tossed the book gently onto her bed. She put on a zip up hoodie and packed a fake sleepover bag. The books spine crackled gently as the cover was opened just enough for her to grab the pre-rolls out and into her pocket.
With backpack slung over her shoulders and her hands tucked securely in her pockets, Y/N strolled casually into the living room where her mother sat, as the minutes ticked quicker and quicker past 9:30–he was definitely home by now.
“Hey mom! Inhope you don’t mind but I’m gonna head over to Robin’s.”
“Oh! Did she call? I didn’t even hear the phone!”
“Oh no! She didn’t!” Y/N let in a gulp, she didn’t think this through. “She asked me a few days ago to come over tonight if I wanted to, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go until a little bit ago.”
“Ah, sounds like you, Do you wanna call her before you head over?” Claudia stood from her seat and began moving and motioning towards the phone.
“No!’ Y/N shrieked at her mother, who turned confusedly towards her. “Her mom goes to bed early and I told her that if I was gonna come it would be between 9 and 10, she assumes I’m coming, but I do really gotta get going.” Y/N glanced nervously at the clock, it was getting later and later and there comes a time where it’s a little uncomfortable to show up. Claudia glanced to the clock as well.
“Okay Y/N/N, you better get going.”
“Bye mom—“
“—Drive safe, be careful, I love you.”
“I love you too mom.” Y/N said as she practically ran to her car. She turned her car on and began the drive towards his house, not even thinking twice about where she was going until the car came to a park in his driveway.
“Shit!” Y/N yelled at herself. She yelled at herself for being weird and for showing up unannounced. She calmed herself down by saying, “who wouldn’t want someone showing up with free weed? Don’t overthink it.” She pulled in a complete, deep breath and walked hesitantly to the door. Three knocks sounded off the door, her breath fluttering ever so slightly as she let her hand fall to her side. Footsteps could be heard from the opposite side of the door, stepping closer and closer by the second. The doorknob turned and Y/N’s attention snapped up to meet the gaze of the boy at large.
“Hey Y/N, what’re you doing here?” Steve asked delightfully surprised. Her hand reached inside her pocket to pull one of the two joints. She lifted it from her pockets to where he could see it.
“Got a light?” She asked with a smirk.
After finding a lighter, the two made their way to his backyard. They sat parallel to one another in their chaise chairs. Y/N flicked the lighter a few times before sparking up the first joint of the night. She pulled a large huff in and held it as she passed the joint to Steve. He took in a long drag, holding the joint in front of him to inspect it after he hit it. A few seconds after Y/N had released her hit, Steve started coughing a bunch.
“Jesus Y/N, where the hell did you get this?” Steve said through the gasps for air.
“Good shit, huh?” Y/N joked as she inhaled another hit. The two fell into a rhythm of passing it back and forth as conversation allowed itself to flood the air.
“So what made you come here Y/N?” Steve pondered towards the girl.
“Dusty started asking me about when we were drugged, and apparently you told him you smoked weed. And, as much as I love Robin, I need someone new to smoke with, and you’re not AWFUL to hang out with.” Y/N explained, with sarcasm dripping from the last sentence.
“Wow, I feel so touched. Truly, I feel like the luckiest man alive. THE Y/N Henderson chose ME to smoke with. Best day of my life.” Steve rambled on, matching the sarcastic tone Y/N started with. The two laughed for a bit together, before Y/N spoke through the giggles.
“I am sorry for just showing up, I just didn’t know how to ask.”
“What? Am I that scary?”
“You’re THE King Steve, you’re the coolest, hottest guy at Hawkins. I was so intimidated by your male wiles. I am begging at your feet Steve Harrington.” Y/N mocked other girls she had witnessed in Hawkins. “No you’re not scary, I just couldn’t bring myself to say ‘Hey Steve, want to do some drugs with me?’ on our family phone, it didn’t feel right.” Steve let out a chuckle and a ‘fair enough’. It fell silent for a moment as the joint had its final hits taken from it.
“Why haven’t we hung out before? I mean away from all the traumatizing shit.” Steve asked slowly as he let himself sink down into the chair.
“Different friend groups before it all and then after and during it all, I didn’t and don’t want to impede on you and Dustin’s time. Plus neither of us have asked each other anyway.”
“That’s not true, I invited you to the movies that one day you stopped into scoops alone.”
“Yeah after I had already told you I was babysitting that night, you didn’t even ask to reschedule.”
“Yes I absolutely—didn’t. I didn’t.” Steve said, confidence dissipating. Y/N couldn’t help but focus to each small feature of his face one by one. Sure, she had looked at him but she never looked at him. He really was beautiful.
Jokes and stories were told between the two, laughter and exaggerated stories filled the bubble they put themselves in. In those moments, there was no one else in the world but Steve and Y/N.
“And that’s how Mike Wheeler broke his finger in our backyard.” Y/N let out through a fit of giggles. Steve clutched his stomach as he let himself fall back into the chair from the gut busting laughter Y/N had sent him into. As he got more comfortable, he glanced down at his watch. His eyes bulged at the time.
“Holy shit.” He said flustered, eyes never leaving the watch face.
“What? What time is it?”
“It’s almost 2 A.M.”
“Oh damn…” Y/N said, a dangerously fun smile finding its way to her face. Her hand reached towards the second joint in her pocket. “So this would be of no interest to you?” Steve’s squinted eyes opened just a peep. He let out a long whine.
“I think I’m too high to even move…but that looks so good.” Y/N looked between him and the joint. She noticed space for her to sit on the edge of his chair, and placed herself there. She placed the joint between her lips and gave it a light, waiting for the rolling paper burn down to the weed. From between her lips, she pulled the joint between her fingers and held it gently up to his. He took in a pull, never once releasing eye contact. With each consecutive hit, the distance between them drew closer and closer, eventually leaving their faces merely inches apart. Her fingers were so far back on the joint, they grazed his lips as he took in one of the final hits. Her fingers tingled from his touch. She glanced towards his eyes, his meeting hers already. The air around them went still and quiet. Their eyes were locked on each other, contact never wavering as their bodies moved towards one another like a magnet. His eyes stayed put on hers as his voice fell in the air.
“Give me one more.” Her hand lifted lightly and placed itself at his lips once more. The joint glowed a bright red as he inhaled the smoke. Y/N was so enraptured by his beauty, she didn’t notice the joint burning down to a nub. She watched as a cloud of smoke was blown from his lips and into the sky, before the heat had finally reached her touch.
“Son of a bitch!” She exclaimed as she dropped the roach to the ground. She lifted her fingers to her mouth, attempting to ease the burning feeling. The burn wasn’t bad, just a little redness but it didn’t hurt any less.
“Hey, let me see it.” Steve’s tone was much gentler now as he lifted her hand into his own. He raised her gently by her wrist to examine the burnt fingers. He delicately placed the burnt fingers to his lips and gave them a tiny little kiss.
“Kiss it, make it better.” He whispered, just barely audible to her ears. That’s what was so shocking about Steve, his heart was so filled with love and care. He did his best to make everyone feel protected, even if his popular guy persona overshadowed it at times.
“How are you so perfect?” Her voice came out quietly. Slowly, he lifted his head to look at her once more and without much thought, he closed the distance. The kiss was gentle and loving, but clearly stoked by passion. His lips upturned into a smile. She leaned back and traced her fingers across her lips. Just to make sure she didn’t imagine it, she pulled the boy towards her by the collar and planted one more kiss on him—and she noted that he kissed back with the same fervor.
“I have a crush on you Steve Harrington.” She said, hiding her blushing face from the boy. He turned her face towards him as he confessed,
“I’ve had a crush on you for like 3 months.”
“You have?”
“Yeah.” He said, his thumb gently grazing her cheek.
“Why?”
“Dustin talks about you enough, and I—uh I remembered all the times you’ve kicked ass over the past few years and it just kinda…happened. Who wouldn’t want someone as smart, badass, and beautiful as you?” He rambled our haphazardly, a blush forming across his cheeks as well.
“Steve…”
“Oh god, that was embarrassing, am I blushing? I feel like I’m blushing. fuck me.” Steve started rambling.
“Hey! It’s not embarrassing, it’s cute.” Y/N explained, but it didn’t seem to help. An idea flashed in her mind. “Oh no! You are so embarrassing, I am embarrassed. Ew, guess I
I’ll just have to close my eyes! I hope that embarrassing Steve Harrington doesn’t kiss me!” The sarcastic tone from earlier returning once more. A chuckle bubbled past Steve’s lips. He once more laid one on her, this time—a little bit more passionate than the past.
Y/N nuzzled herself into Steve’s side on the small beach chair they were on. The air sat comfortably still in that moment, the two reeling from the overwhelming emotions they had just felt. Quiet giggles pierce the air as Y/N studies her fingers.
“It worked.” She said matter of factly.
“What worked?”
“After you kissed it, I haven’t thought about it since. You made it better.” Y/N spoke melodically. Steve planted a kiss to the top of her head and pulled her closer in to him.
“Kiss it, make it better.” He repeated once more.

For Ethan (MC is not there)
Where do you see him in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)
What specifically do you find attractive about her?
Last thing she texted you?
If she asked you out on a date, how would you respond?
Bree, Thank you so much for this GENIUS round! A trip down the memory lane, when they just began falling for each other, it was such a beautiful and painful time for them as well as for me. I had a blast, and even though these answers are a pure mess, I had way too much fun answering them. Hope you like them too❤️!
The setting for this answers is: A week and a half after Ethan leaves the Hospital. Land(rat)ry and has been exposed, but Ethan doesn't know about that yet. Also, this is pre-chapter 15.
For Both
When I first saw them, I thought__________
Pooja: Who goes first?
(Silence)
Pooja:...Fine. I'll go first. The first time, all I could notice was his Doctor's Coat and the stern expression that he carried. It was my first day, I was running late, I had a patient who had collapsed in front of me. So obviously I was a bundle of nerves. And seeing a very strict attending really did not help. I was freaking out and kept repeating "Concentrate, Pooja, Concentrate" in my head.
Ethan: So when you saw me, you freaked out?
Pooja: Quite obviously so.
(After a pause) What did you think I would have thought? That you were handsome? (winks)
Ethan: (Caught by surprise) I- Uh- That's not...
(Centers himself with a deep breath) That would have been highly inappropriate.
Pooja: (Smiles in Satisfaction) Your turn, Doc. Or maybe, Ex-Doc, Right?
Ethan: (Ignoring her) I thought you were amateur. Better than most interns on their first days but still, slow and confused.
Pooja: And hence can the nickname "Rookie"?
Ethan: Yes, hence Rookie.
What is your coworker's most used swear word?
Ethan: I haven't heard her swear a lot, but the times I have, it's always either "Shit" or "Fuck".
Pooja: For him, it's mostly "Godammit" and on rare occasions, "Fuck". If he uses "Fuck" for an occasion, you know it's serious.
Quick: What color are their eyes?
(In unison, without missing a beat)
Pooja: Ice Blue
Ethan: Amber
(Ethan stares at Pooja, bewildered)
Pooja: What? (With a faux expression of sadness) Are you surprised that my observation skills actually exist?
Ethan: (He seems to regret his expression and tries straightens himself quickly) No, Of Course Not, I do not doubt your skills. (He smiles, but the surprise never leaves his features) It's just that no one ever-
(He looks at her, holding her gaze. They both seem unable look away... Until Ethan breaks eye contact and they concentrate back on the questions)
Three people at work your coworker hates?
Pooja: Can I name three people he doesn't hate? Possibly even that would be a large count.
Ethan: I don't hate anyone.
Pooja: Yaa, I know. You don't care about them enough to even have an opinion about them. Which is even worse than hatred, actually.
Ethan: (Rolls his eyes, but doesn't quite disagree) Dr Sharma and Hatred, on the other hand, is a combination I never have had the opportunity to observe.
Pooja: (A frown appears on her forehead and her jaw clenches tightly. She looks down, trying to control anger coursing through her body)
Ethan: (Looks at her with an eyebrow raised) Am I missing out on something?
Pooja: (Tries her best to keep her voice calm) Nope, nothing.
(Ethan notices that something is wrong, but decides not to push her further)
What is your coworker’s strangest or most endearing quirk?
Ethan: Dr Sharma, has a peculiar habit of always humming a song whenever she is writing or typing something. And every time, it's something different. I don't know about endearing, but it's definitely annoying.
Pooja: Please, you should be grateful that you have a walking, talking Spotify who supplies you with new music ad free and you don't even have to pay for premium.
Ethan: You think that you are hilarious, don't you?
Pooja: Oh, I AM hilarious (Rolls her eyes)
Ethan: (Laughs) You said that with an eye roll.
Pooja: And you laughed. So, Point Proved.
Ethan: (Shakes his head with the smile still on face)
Pooja: As for Dr Ramsey, whenever he has to deal with interns, he pulls out all the sarcasm he has, murmurs "Interns" with an annoyed sigh every time one of them begin to speak, and his intensity of rolling eyes increases by at least ten times. (Turning to Ethan) How did you like my description?
E: (Rolls his eyes) Accurate.
If they had a crush on anyone at work, who would that be?
Ethan: (Scoffs) Crushes... Juvenility at its best.
Pooja: (Opens her mouth to speak)
Ethan: Are you really going to answer the question? Because I am not.
Pooja: You do you and I do I.
(Begins to speak) I think Dr Ramsey has a crush on... (her voice cracks, and a sudden sadness overcome her once happy features. She is unable to complete the sentence and Ethan is unable to look at her)
Ethan: (After a long moment of silence, still not looking at Pooja) Can we please go to the next question?
Never have I Ever:
On the announcement of this round, Pooja brightens up a bit.
Never have I evers have always been one of her favourite games, so there was not a chance in hell she was going to skip the chance of learning about Ethan's secrets.
She turns to Ethan, who's turns to her and raises and eyebrow. His confused face is a precious scene and she cannot help but let out a giggle at it.
Ethan: And what is this now?
Pooja: I was going to ask if you have never watched those celebrity interviews but (she giggles) you and those, don't go together. At all
Ethan: Why would anyone want to answer stupid questions? And Why would someone want to watch them answer those?
Pooja: Because it's fun Dr Terminator. There is fun hidden in stupid things as such.
Ethan: (doesn't speak anything, but gives a small smile while thinking about her words)
Pooja: (takes the smile as a sign) So you are ready.
Ethan: When did I say so?
Pooja: You don't need to word your thoughts for me to know (gives him a smile)
(They hold each other's gaze for a while before Ethan coughs and turn away)
Pooja: (A tinge of sadness in her tone) Okay (coughs) So usually Never have I ever is a drinking game-
Ethan: A drinking game during office hours? (Raises an eyebrow)
Pooja: Says someone who doesn't even work at the office. (She looks at him once before continuing) But we are going to change it up a bit. Sienna, my friend has baked cupcakes today, so I thought why not use them instead? If the answer is yes, they don't get to take a bite from the cupcake. I it's no, then-
Ethan: You get a bite. You will always look for excuses to eat the pastries, won't you?
Pooja: See, you know me well.
(For a while, it seems as if Ethan regrets his statement, but soon he schools his features and any such indication is gone)
come into work hungover
Both Ethan & Pooja sit still, cupcakes intact.
Pooja: (Looks at him, amazed)
Ethan: (Raises an eyebrow)
Pooja: And here I was expecting a sarcastic remark about professionalism.
Ethan: We all have our days, Dr Sharma. Today's yours.
Pooja: It sure is (winks)
had a fistfight
Again, both of them sit still, no one making a move towards their cupcakes.
Pooja: But, it was back in high school, so...
(She moves to take a bite, when)
Ethan: Hey!
Pooja: What?
Ethan: You made the rules but that does not give you an allowance to break the rules.
Pooja: Look at you, getting all competitive over Never have I ever.
Ethan: Absolutely Not. I was just ensuring that the rules are being followed.
Pooja: Suure.
been kicked out of a bar
Both of them take a bite.
Pooja: Finally!
Ethan: (Rolls his eyes while trying to suppress a smile at the site of her getting all excited for a cupcake)
gotten a tattoo
Ethan takes a bite.
Pooja: I think you need to get one.
Ethan: Absolutely not.
Pooja: Don't worry I will let your significant other whenever they arrive, know that they have to make you get one.
(Even if said jokingly, the sentence fills the air with suffocating silence, that is only broken when the next question is asked)
broken someone’s heart
Pooja takes a bite. Ethan looks on.
Pooja: Dr Ramsey?
Ethan: Huh?
Pooja: Aren't you going to take a bite?
Ethan: (after a while) ...No. I am Not.
been in love
(Ethan goes to take a bite, just as...)
Pooja: Dr Ramsey?
Ethan: What is it?
Pooja: Look, I know it's against the rules, but can I pleaseee take a bite from your side?
Ethan: And why would I let you do that?
Pooja: Because A. You know I love cupcakes, B. You are my friend and C. Because I am asking you super sweetly. So, pleeaase? (She looks at him with puppy eyes)
Ethan: (After a momentary pause) ...Fine
Pooja: Thank you Dr Ramsey, You're the best Dr Ramsey-
Ethan: Do you stop or do I have to get a remote to shut you up?
(Pooja laughs, having succeeded in her mission. And before Ethan can stop himself, a smile breaks out on his face as well)
For MC (Ethan is not there)
Where do you see him in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)
Professionally I see him coming back to medicine. Maybe Soon, Maybe Later. But I cannot imagine him living the rest of his life away from medicine. This is where he finds his calm. Amidst complex cases that challenge his genius. I also visualize him working on another book, or assisting WHO with its endeavors.
Personally (She pauses, takes a deep breath, and another, and another) I, uh... see him happy. Most probably not married, but in a relationship full of care and satisfaction. He may even start believing in love (laughs) I can't predict the future, but I hope that he finds someone worthy of him. Someone whom he can love without having to constantly worry of a mishap, without questioning all his principles, without retching a battle in his mind. Someone... who can return his care and affection in ten folds (a tear escapes out of the corner of her eye, but she wipes it off as quickly as she can)
What do you find the most impressive about him?
Impressive about him? Everything. But especially the kind of doctor he is. For someone who's so genius, it is commonly thought that he would look down on others, berate others on the basis of his excellence and his achievements, be arrogant and rude. But, he is an entire opposite.
Humble, caring, compassionate. Yes, maybe he gives interns an earful from time to time, but he never demotivates them. He is a great teacher, one who knows to keep his feelings apart from his work. To him everyone is equal, even if people suspect him of favoritism. His care and concern for his patients, it's an inspiration for me.
Last thing he texted you?
I...haven't really got any recent texts (or replies, she mumbles) from him. The last one he sent was the day we got back from Miami after the medical conference, which says, "Let me know when you get home safe, okay?"
If he asked you out on a date, what would you say?
(A small, humorless laugh) He wouldn't ask me out. Definitely not in this life. I am sure he regrets what happened- (Sighs)
I am too complicated of a case for him to pursue.
But, if, in a hypothetical, like, really hypothetical situation, he did ask me, I would say yes. In a heartbeat, to be exact.
For Ethan (MC is not there)
Where do you see her in five years (both professionally and in her personal life?)
Rookie, I mean Dr Sharma, has impeccable talent. And she has more than proved herself during the time I was at the hospital. If she strives hard, and keeps up her hard work, I am sure she can achieve all she wants to. Maybe even restart the Diagnostics Team as a leader. I know she has a bright career in front of her, and as her mentor, I will help her achieve it in every way I can.
Bree: And personally?
Uh... Happy. She will definitely be happy, with someone who can make her smile her dazzling smile, who can give her the best life she deserves, and stand with her through thick and thin. Someone who doesn't break her heart due to their own... flaws. Someone,
Someone who can love her.
What specifically do you find attractive about her?
Ethan: Attractive? She is my intern, why would you expect me to make a statement as such?
Bree: So you don't think she is attractive?
Ethan: Of course I do. She has a sparkle in her eyes, the passion for medicine evident. The way she smiles when she talks to patients, the way she reassures them, how-
(He stops on his track. Regrets his words. Pinching the bridge of his nose he signals to go onto the next question)
Last thing she texted you?
"You know you can just tell me if you don't want me to text you. It would hurt, but this silence, the feeling of shouting into a void, it hurts more."
(He doesn't expand on it. Just sits for a while, looking at the cell phone, before turning it off and placing it aside)
If she asked you out on a date, how would you respond?
Ethan: She Wouldn't... Not after what I- (he sighs)
Maybe in another life, if I am lucky enough, I would say yes. But now....
It's a risk. And I can say from experience that it would not end well. The harm it may cause, the hurt I may cause...
She doesn't deserve it.
Bree: But there are no more professional complications now that you have quit, Dr Ramsey. Then why do you feel as such?
Ethan: It's about personal complications.

Hi I just read “everything happens for a reason” (loved it btw) I was wondering if you could make a sequel to it? Y/N is still try to get over her break up with Thor and Loki reassures her that she is more than enough for him. It would be more vanilla though. (Sorry that this is so long🥺)
it’s not long at all, don’t worry! i was actually contemplating about making a sequel to it. so i already have smth in the works! i’ll have it done probably by the end of the week :))
edit: I’m so sorry for this being so late!! I know I said a week and then my life went up in chaos. Forgive me for my untimely posting. Regardless, here is the sequel to the Loki fic, Everything Happens For a Reason. Hope you enjoy!
Warnings: None. Just fluffy Loki
Loki x female!reader
Word count: 2.3K
You awoke to the pitter-patter of the New York rain falling against the window yet again. You thought the worst of it happened yesterday while you were running away from your problems. Speaking of problems, the last thing you wanted was to go back home. Even though it wouldn’t be until later this evening, you felt that your apartment was forever tainted with the betrayal you witnessed. Going back in there would be like playing a broken record. Forever stuck in the limbo of what was.
Rubbing the sleep from your eyes you rolled over to feel for Loki, but instead, you were met with room temperature sheets, another body vacant from the bed. Your stomach sank. Had Loki lied? It wouldn’t be beside him but with you, he was so transparent. It felt like cigarettes were being put out all over your skin, your nerves were fired up in all the wrong ways. You sat up in the bed and pulled the sheets up to your chest along with your knees. You felt your body become lethargic.
Am I worth anything to anybody? Am I really that disposable?
Hot, stinging tears began to fall from your eyes. Self-doubt and deprecating thoughts filling your brain. Perpetual questions of wondering your worth not only in romantic fashion but just in life came to be the spearhead of your worries. Everything felt intrusive and counterfeit. Maybe he saw you as easy and knew you would give up easily to him in your state of vulnerability. You just wanted somebody to be appreciative of you.
Maybe he and his brother weren’t cut from that different of a cloth. Sliding out of the bed you went to put on your clothes from the night before in hopes of getting out of the hotel without too much trouble. But when you bent over to pick your jeans up from the floor they were damp and cold and it made you feel even worse. Your hoodie was in a similar condition and to top it off, you couldn’t find your underwear to save your life. You groaned out loud and felt trapped in this opulent room and everywhere you looked was a painful reminder of everything bitter and vile.
You climbed back in bed and decided to just wait for your clothes to finish drying up. Unsure of when that would be because the rain outside was creating a thin layer of humidity in the room. Sighing you curled into the fetal position and held onto an extra pillow hoping that it would provide you with some semblance of comfort. Your tears started up again and there was a pain beginning to build in your stomach. You wanted to scream. You wanted to release yourself of all the negative energy that was boiling within you. Clutching the extra pillow to your face you let out a wail that you had been holding in for far too long. All the pent-up energy from yesterday of trying to hold your own against the perfidy Thor presented you with and now you were struggling with the concept of Loki using you and your vulnerability for a cheap fuck. You were curled up in a hotel room, naked and crying about everything. You felt pathetic. You just wanted to sleep forever.
With the last sniffle leaving your body you took a deep breath and shuddered into your body. Your breathing labored and shallow, you tried to calm yourself down in hopes of falling back asleep. But those hopes were dilapidated when you heard the hotel room door click open. You thought about faking sleep but the idea of faking anything took up too much space to even think about carrying out. So you opted to just lie still and wait for anything to be said to you. Maybe it was just one of the housekeeping people and they would leave upon seeing someone still in the room.
“Y/N, you up yet?”
Housekeeping would’ve been too easy wouldn’t it?
Sighing you meekly responded to Loki, tears and sorrow welling up in your eyes and throat once more.
“Yeah, been up for a little while.”
He caught on to it immediately. Your position in the bed, the lack of tone in your voice. He knew he should’ve waited but he thought a surprise of something would lift your spirits even more. Time was simply not on his side and you arose long before he anticipated. Making his best judgment at the situation he was debating which road of sentiment he should walk down. He didn’t want to make things worse for you.
Loki set down a bag, the crinkling catching your attention and you looked over your shoulder to see where he was.
He went to get food? He hadn’t skipped at all?
“Surprise.”
Instantly you were filled with regret, upset with yourself for jumping to conclusions about the situation at hand. You couldn’t help it though, your ability to have trust within someone else was smeared, and regardless of Loki’s reassuring words the night prior, the pain had yet to subside. Upon seeing your face, Loki saw the residual puffiness in your face and how the tip of your nose was heated and slightly swollen from your crying before he walked in.
“I’m sorry, Loki.”
Was all you could muster, wordwise. You sat yourself up in the bed and wiped the residue of tears from your face trying to make yourself appear as normal as possible. Wrapping the sheet tightly around you, you finally faced him. Loki stepping lightly to the edge of the bed.
“Did you think I left...for good?”
You rolled your heads towards him, cynicism clear on your face. A bit of sarcasm was thrown into the mix but it was all a guise to somewhat shield him from the pain and embarrassment you were feeling. Looking at the wall in front of you, a dry response left your lips.
“Yes. What else was I supposed to think? My mind was running through all the possible reasons as to why you left. And the one that kept nagging was the idea that my vulnerability yesterday was used to an advantage other than my own.”
Sadness no longer colored your emotions but rather numbness. You weren’t sure what to feel. You wanted to trust Loki and you believed that you could but time was definitely needed. With another sigh, you continued.
“And then you walk in here with bags of stuff and I look like a fool for being so dramatic in nature.”
“Well that’s nothing new for us now is it?”
Loki’s quip back at you had your eyes narrowing into thin slits but again was quickly washed away because something about him made the circumstances seem not so perilous. You bowed your head, feeling that you had said enough. In place, Loki’s voice filled the silence.
“My intention was for you to still be asleep by the time I returned. You seemed so peaceful. The last thing I wanted was to wake you from that state of rest. I figured I’d be back in time to properly surprise you with some gifts.”
You smiled a bit, feeling the angst start to fade away, but quickly to feel it fade into guilt. But you weren’t allowed to stew in it for too long, for Loki standing up from the bed caught your attention distracting you from your thoughts.
“Before it gets cold, I got us some breakfast. And..”
His sentence trailing off into a strain as he bent over to the side of the desk in the front of a room to pull out yet another bag.
“I picked you up some clothes to wear for today. Figured wearing the ones from this past evening was morally and aesthetically dull and trudging back to your apartment would be in poor judgment. It’s not much but enough for the day and for our date this evening.”
Your eyebrows shot up into your hairline completely forgetting about what you agreed to with Loki during your session of pillow talk while you were drifting in and out of sleep.
He really meant that? Wow, okay.”
“Oh come now, you hadn’t forgotten already had you?”
Loki was mocking you now. Fully aware that by your initial reaction you had forgotten.
“Look, in my defense, I was drifting off to sleep.”
“Mhmm, sure Y/N.”
Setting the bag in between the two of you on the bed, Loki looked at you, eyes urging you to dig in the bag.
“You happen to have another shirt I can throw on before I start eating? My hoodie is still damp and-”
Loki reached into the bag full of clothes and pulled out an oversized graphic tee cutting your sentence off and holding it out in front of your face.
“Thank you.”
You were genuinely surprised and grateful. It was such a simple act but the fact that Loki went out of his way to get you clothes and food following a night of such intensity made you feel warm and finally appreciated. Something you hadn’t felt with previous relationships, especially with your last. Taking the shirt from him, you looked for the tag and pulled it out with your teeth.
“Animal.”
Loki side-eyed you, his comment made obviously in somewhat of jest. You chuckled and wormed your way into the shirt. Once pulling it over your head you finally dug into the paper bag that was still surprisingly warm despite the time that had gone by. The smell of a breakfast sandwich filling your nose and your stomach growled in response, eager to be fed. Loki made a sarcastic remark but you couldn’t be bothered with responding the second you placed the sandwich to your lips.
The satisfaction of the food also gnawing away the ritual morning agitation you were always burdened with. Nothing but soft smacks and soft moans of enjoying your food filled the space. A sign that obviously, the food was worthwhile. Loki had looked at you eyebrow raised and chuckled to himself watching you be completely lost in the sandwich.
“If I would’ve known you’d be tearing the sandwich up like that I would’ve purchased three.”
Your eyes rolled and simultaneously you were thinking about how he got all this stuff in the first place. Mouth still full with food, your speech a little muffled.
“Speaking of purchase, how’d you buy all this anyway.”
“Mischief always finds its way, darling.”
“I think the word is pronounced thievery, Loki.”
“Same difference.”
It’s almost as if all the trauma that you suffered through yesterday had never happened. Being with Loki and the playful banter that was his character made everything feel at ease. You felt happy, actually and most importantly you didn’t feel guilty for it. Was the timing a little brisk? Perhaps, but in the end, what really mattered was your happiness and right now it felt that you had found it.
Finishing up with your sandwich you balled up the wrapping and threw it back into the bag. Standing up from the bed you excused yourself to go to the bathroom. Turning on the light you saw a plethora of toiletry products that you hadn’t brought. A toothbrush, toothpaste, body wash, lotion, a few makeup products that you knew were picked up in pure confusion, and some leave in for your hair. Your eyes widened and you let out a belly laugh.
“Jesus Loki, did you raid the fuckin Walgreens on the corner.”
“Hey if you don’t want it, with the flick of my wrist it will vanish. Choose your next words wisely.”
You knew he was playing and you decided one last epigram would satisfy your bratty nature. Peeking your head out from the bathroom, you bowed in a dramatic courtesy.
“Thank you my king for so valiantly stealing all the toiletries from our nearest corner store. My gratitude is eternal. Like that?”
“You’re impossible.”
Walking back to Loki, you stood between his legs and raked your fingers through his slicked-back hair. A softness took over your features, appearing small and doe-like to Loki as he looked up at you.
“Thank you, Loki, really. I know we bust each other’s balls but I really appreciate you. I can already foresee how tightly I’m going to be wrapped around your finger. You already have me falling for you at a speed that is impractical to calculate.”
“My Y/N.”
Hearing the adoration layered in his tone made your heart warm and the possession of your name falling from his mouth made your body shiver. Realizing how quickly you could get used to this.
“Now you’ll finally see what it’s like to be on the receiving end. Ever since we stumbled upon each other I was enamored with you. I couldn’t bear to see you with another and that another being none other than my brother was like a fiery blade that I had no power of removing. When I fell for you I knew I was irrevocably destined to be yours. Regardless of the circumstance. And now, if you are willing to take my hand in this journey I would like to make you mine.”
You pressed your lips together in a firm smile before showing your teeth, feeling overwhelmed with reverence for the man in front of you.
“I’d be more than happy to accompany you. Even more so for this evening.”
Loki lightly smiled and then leaned up to press a gentle kiss to your lips. The air light and emanating the tender yet sardonic romance that was beginning to brew between your long-lost lover.

CHAPTER 16 - DISTRACTION
———
Just an hour and a half ago, Steve's world tilted violently on it's axis when Natasha told him who Y/N really was—the Winter Soldier's former apprentice. The one and only phantom that had been on every possible enemy radar, and ally too.
Steve had his arms crossed and tucked tight to his chest as he tried to find some peace of mind on the skyway, facing the glass windows that overlooked the field below. The Avengers tower was vast, but the Captain preferred this particular spot whenever he needed some time alone to think.
He pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing as a million thoughts per second ran through his head. She knew him, the Winter Soldier. Heck, she'd been trained by him. If she knew how he thought, how he worked...was it possible that she'd know where he was?
Steve would give anything to find him. Even if it meant giving his life. He'd been begging the universe to help him find his best friend and it looks like his solution had just landed right in front of him. When he told Natasha this, her head almost exploded in the process of telling him how stupid the idea was. But Steve needed to know, he needed to see for himself. If this was indeed his last option, then he'd be damned if he didn't at least try.
He clenched his fists, cracking the knuckle of his thumb in the process then brought his hand to the bridge of his nose, pinching it as he sighed inwardly. It was decided. He was going to ask Y/N to go on a very idiotic, yet very desperately needed mission.
"Oh, this is a very bad idea." The captain whispered to himself.
—––
"You look miserable."
Pietro's voice snapped me out of my thoughts and my head snapped up as he stepped out of the shadow. Immediately, I felt almost grateful for his presence at that moment. Even though I revelled in the glory of being alone, solidarity confinement was giving me hell after Romanoff's confrontation. At this point I'd take anything as a distraction from my own thoughts.
"I'm being held in a cage for God knows how long, what am I supposed to do? Smile?"
"Maybe." He shrugged as he took a stray chair and plopped down on it.
I bared my teeth, stretching my mouth in an extremely forced smile. "You mean like this?" I said without moving my lips.
"Exactly like that." He cringed, chuckling despite the nasty sarcasm I was throwing at him.
The room grew silent after that. I could only hear the sound of his sneakers scraping against the floor as he drew imaginary circles with his feet.
"What are you doing here?" The lack of conversation was tedious to me. I thought he was going to be a distraction at the very least but it turns out he was only making it worse.
"What?"
"What do you mean 'what?', you come to my cell and now you're silent. Out of all places, why'd you come here to mope around and do nothing? Because the last time you were here, you basically talked my ear off while shooting lasers at me through your eyes." I made a pointing gesture with two fingers as I made a poking motion in front of my face.
I couldn't stop staring at him. Somewhere along my angry speech, he had looked up from the floor and turned his eyes to me. It was direct and undisturbed eye contact that should have made me very, very uncomfortable but instead it was...insanely hypnotising. I didn't understand it at all.
"I can't figure you out."
What?
"Well you're definitely not the first one to say that, get in line-"
"No, you don't understand. I can't figure you out, at all. Frankly, it's frustrating and it's stressing me out."
"Wow." I scoffed. "This is coming out of nowhere."
"Nowhere?" He yelled, speeding towards me until he was just a mere centimetres away from the glass that separated us. "Out of nowhere? Do you not get how much you confuse me, huh Y/N?"
My stomach twisted painfully as he said my real name. I glared at him, determined not to lose the argument or whatever it was that was happening. "I confuse a lot of people, pal."
"Stop it." He spat. "See, this is what I meant. I don't understand you. We came from the same place and yet I can't...I just..."
"Same place? What the ever loving fuck are you talking about? Why are you so mad all of a sudden?"
"I'm not mad, I'm frustrated." He sighed, running his hand through his white locks. "You're driving me crazy, Y/N."
It took a full second for me to process what he was saying, but it still made no sense. The words he was saying were painstakingly familiar but the tone he was saying it in sent a dangerous chill down my spine. "What the fuck...okay, cut the crap Pietro. Is this some sort of trick they asked you to do? Who sent you here?"
He threw his hands in the air, jotting a thumb to his chest. "Myself. This isn't a scheme or whatever it is you're thinking."
I frowned, "Then what is it?"
He turned around and went back to his chair, taking a seat and closing his eyes. It was my turn to stand up and pace.
"Look, the last 72 or so hours of my life have been drastically confusing and there's nothing I'd love more than to hear an explanation...for everything. What the fuck is this? I just spent 3 scrutinising hours with Romanoff, going over my past and taking a trip down memory lane, except that my memory lane is just a horrible road full of potholes and hot, steaming coal! Now you're yelling at me about how much I confuse you? What do you think this is? A feelings brothel?"
He didn't look up or speed up close to me this time, he just stayed there on his chair with his head down, elbows on his knees and his hands clasped together.
Then he said something. It was barely above a whisper, but luckily the room was silent enough that I was able to hear it.
"I was ready to kill you when I first met you. I wanted to end your life as quickly as possible."
No surprise there.
"So, tell me why that's suddenly changed?"
My feet stayed glued to their spot. I had no answer to his question, not even a sarcastic retort. I had nothing to offer. For the first time in many, many years...I was speechless. These words were foreign and dangerous. A big red flag planted itself on the part of my brain that had 'Pietro' written on it.
"What are you implying?"
"You have some sort of hold over me that I can't get out of. I don't get it." Pietro was making my head spin and my heart tumble over my guts. "Is this a trick of yours? Some mind-controlling ability that you've hidden from us so you could get me to trust you? Were you dishonest about the full extent of your skillset?"
I couldn't speak, I couldn't move, I couldn't breathe. Normally, at this point I would think I had been injected with some type of paralysis poison. But my heart was beating wildly enough to prove that theory wrong.
"No. Nothing of that sort, Pietro."
"How do I know you're not lying?"
I stopped myself from holding a hand to my chest in an effort to keep my heart from beating itself out of its socket. The palpitations reverberated throughout my whole body like a bass drum. Somehow through the shock, I managed to squeeze out a single sentence.
"Because if I had the ability to control minds in the way you just described, I wouldn't even be here in the first place."
We stared at each other for a moment and then he shook his head with a heavy sigh and left the room, leaving me alone with my thoughts yet again.
And I thought he was gonna be a distraction for my thoughts instead of causing another prominent flow of them.
———
As soon as Pietro exited the room in which Y/N was being held, he bumped straight into Steve.
"Maximoff?"
"Captain. What are you doing here?"
"I'm..." he sighed, "...about to do something really stupid."

PART 15
Yes, their treacherous war has started indeed that for some time Sung Eunyoung will be left off-guard the moment she went out of her car through entering her possible investor’s premise just to be fazed by the leaving familiar parade of his underlings’ car or rather him in it. “Mierda! He’s at it again?” getting robbed surely for every now and then Jang Taeyoung’s persuasions were getting better and better. Guess Zilo’s helping hand somehow paved way literally.
Yet with next days she manages to counter still. “Boss, they pulled back with our offer.” Like how the simple message he heard from his assistant annoyed him on the spot. “What? F*ck this, Sung Eunyoung!” Cursing by her savage competence for he had lost another entrance of opportunity.
Their game of gain and loss, the survival of the fittest, name it. They’re on the bridge of push and pull of business rivalries that’s for sure. Before they realize? They both burnout with exhaustion. Riled with loads of work ups and deals, they certainly need a break.
Especially, Jang Taeyoung. For it is winter. The season he hated the most. A day he doesn’t want to remember. It slipped in his mind perhaps thanks to their busy reciprocal fights somehow, but not when he happened to glimpse by the window glass though. ‘Sucks.’ A curse he can only manage with his thoughts, walking lazily to get the clearer view.
Surely as he saw few snowflakes dropping by. He confirmed it. The next thing he did? He was already drinking hard of his whiskey until he went drop, oblivious of his drunken state. He had never been in a while but guess he chose just this once as exception.
~
It’s past midnight yet Sung Eunyoung is still up in the middle of reviewing few documents in her room when a consecutive ringing from her apartment’s doorbell and knocking of the door interrupted her from doing so as a crunching forehead creep into annoyance. “Who the hell is dilapidating my doorsteps in wee hours?! Ugh.”
Not minding to check the intercom again, she was shock after finding out who it was indeed. A drunk Jang Taeyoung leaning by the threshold who seems planning to offer a set of drinks seeing the plastic bag he carries which intently levels in front of her while the other in its common spot in his pocket. Faced with an exaggerating smile, he greeted. “Hi. Can I come in?”
For a drunken person, he’s pretty decent somehow. A good thing perhaps. Twitching her brows then while crossing arms, she speaks. “The last thing I know we were enemies already, aren’t we?”
Her simple counter certainly just to be welcome by his disappointed leaning head to the wall and a falling elevated hands with plastic bag. “Right. But can we at least drop it and be friends?”
“What? Are you seriou---“
“Just for today. Please, Sung Eunyoung. Hm?”
And God knows how she was taken aback from what she heard. Or rather, from the gentle expression she had never seen on him but now. Has to even blink twice as if absorbing every sentence, he said. ‘Cabrón.’ With the unspoken curse she obliged to hide, she composes herself by avoiding his gaze. “Whatever.”
Her firm consent instead while occupying her long couch in the living room, dodging the fact that he even chooses to sit beside her. Tending a drunk man, she considers pampering him for once surely as she was just constantly gaping every move he does without her usual nagging. Pulling out the contents of the plastic bag consist of canned beers and as well the instant product she can’t believe she would witness with him. “Ramyeon?” her surprised sound from the word definitely before shaking her head as if she already knew what’s the next thing that could happened. “Jang Taeyoung, don’t you dare ask me to cook for you cab---“
“Please?”
‘What the?’ Cut by a request certainly for she can’t help but to think a cuss again. “Hey look you Cabrón, if you were just craving for noodles why not bought cup noodles instead of tiring me like I’m some sort of your nanny here. Come on.”
Proceeded by her continues rejection just to be responded by his pity- kind of sigh. “I was actually looking for a soup ingredient but can’t find any from that lousy convenience store so I end up buying this instead.”
“What? So you even intended for a soup? Great!”
Her sarcastic reply then, only to see the pleading expression he keeps on giving even a while ago. Enough for her to surrender as well. “Aish. F*ck this. Will you just stop that candid face of yours? You’re not even a puppy to begin with. Please!”
As a rare English curse came into her, glaring to the only chuckling man in front of her. “So you’re doing it? Does it work?”
“Shut up.” Snatching the product from his hand with no choice but to enter her kitchen with a frown, nagging in between every move she does. Yet she ends up finishing it anyway to later remembering what he actually wanted in the first place though. Unfortunately, she’s not too familiar with the variety so guess she has to choose the most typical kind which everyone knows eventually. Good thing she have still ingredients of it from her storage that with a pulling for more kitchenware and bowls she basically starts cooking again then. “Tss. I can’t believe I’m doing this for that loco.”
Her last ramble of words indeed before finally setting up her finished work on the tray, obliging to serve it to her unwelcome guest as always. Just to be thanked by a half sleeping Jang Taeyoung who’s head already rested on the backrest of the couch. “What a life. Now I have to deal with a sleeping adult.” Putting the tray on the center table then as she was just standing right there staring at him for no reason like she has to grant the rest he needed.
Not when she begins to memorize his face though. The meek appearance she never imagined to perceive in front of her eyes. New to the smart- like eyeglasses she only once saw him wear but now. The standard curled brush up of his hair for she can always observe every outline of his manly forehead. Enough of denials, she did saw him as a handsome lad of her liking. She just doesn’t like to admit it given the arrogance he possesses.
Too late for her to realize what she is currently doing actually. Absentmindedly tracing the parts, she describes till she went overboard to his lips as it only takes a second for her to come back on reverie. Almost touching hands stop mid-air, shutting eyes in conviction from her crazy actions she could have executed.
Before she knew? She was already tapping impulsively with his right shoulder by her right back hand which apparently wakes him up from slumber. Met by the still half hooded eyes, straighten up in a snap recognizing his positon. Pleased after sighting the serve tray with covered bowls on it. “Oh, okay. It’s ready.” As he was blinking in couple of times as if hiding the obvious embarrassment by composing himself like an innocent victim. Swearing all her might from her own thoughts seeing a peculiar behavior she had never future giving in with suppressing laugh. Lucky to be able to hold it thankfully as she cleared her throat, placing her usual straight face.
“You better pay me after this loco or I might just destroy you completely. You know how expensive I am, aren’t you?”
As if a threatening sarcasm she seriously means while voluntarily opening two canned beers, taking one for herself and one for him before deciding to sit on the single couch instead. Unaware of what he is reacting for she is still busy savoring her own drink yet aware of his silence thus she insists to proceed in another rambles. “By the way, speaking of which. I was about to remind you tha---“
Just to be confused finally after seeing the reaction. ‘Again? What’s with him today, really.’ The unspoken verdict she prefers not to voice out. “Hey! If you just being picky from my effort, then better trash it inst---“
Intended to switch the mood somehow by standing while planning to pick up the bowls he already opened only to be cut off anyway from him stopping her wrist. “No. Please don’t.” He leads her instead to sit next to him again. “It’s good, Eunyoung. Thank you.” To later saw a small smile after, and for her to guess what she felt with his presence all along.
Reserved. He looks reserved like he obliged to keep it on his own. Yet she remained silent. She was just right there observing his every move once again as he quietly starts to get some rice she includes to serve to slurping between the noodles and the soup he actually stared for quite a minute as it was also the reason of her sudden confusion. ‘What’s bothering you, Jang Taeyoung’ unspoken concern she obliged to hide.
That with a loud thud of spoon and chopsticks, and a final belch of being full, she chooses to offer her satisfaction and pride. “Wow… what a hospitable guest I have. Doesn’t even try to give an inch for his hired cook.”
A mockery he obviously understands which he answered by a chuckle as well. “Well you didn’t ask, so I presume you’re not hungry. Were you?” rolling her eyes not wanting to fight a drunk man. “Let me guess. Five bottles of whiskey?”
Only to be reciprocated by his knowing arrogance. “Ten, actually.”
For she can only draw in shock. “What? And you can still stand like a sober one?”
Garnering a laugh from him already. “Come on, milady. You do know I’m Jang Taeyoung for nothing as well, right?” initially tilting his head afterwards “And your serving only makes it helpful to complete it.”
Acknowledging her lose by his wink after the last sentence indeed, she surrendered groaning in defeat. “Stop it, Jang Taeyoung or get out.” As it’s not already hard for him to cope up on what she means, laughing from the idea instead. “Alright, I’ll stop.”
If this was an ordinary day she used to foresee his slyness, she surely drags him already out of her doorsteps but no. He was undoubtedly obedient that he only casually positions himself to a better angle where he can stare at her comfortably. Idly resting his head on the backrest again but this time, in sideways. Truly as she is also leaning by the armrest, free to look at him as well.
It was as if a solemn air indulges them to seek in silence and just remain in there steady breathing while devouring their separate drinks. She only waited. So as he broke the ice. “Eunyoung.” His mere call of her name. “Hm.” with the mere hum she replied.
“Can you talk about your mother?”
She stifled. Stiffed in the middle of trailing the rim of her own beer, looking at him with a baffled frown. “Are you sure you went to the right person?” a sarcasm which only answered by his chuckle the moment he shifts in a straighten position again, looking down calmly to its cupping hands of his own drink. “I’m sure I am.” Shrugging his shoulders then as he proceeded for another sentence. “It’s just that, beside your father’s story I haven’t heard about your mother’s.”
“And why is so?”
This time he turns a head to her again. “You wouldn’t know. I might spill something for your interest.”
A matter of fact, it intrigued her indeed. She gave in. For she watches by the glass window right behind from where they’re seated. “She died.” And it surprised him. Yet he remained silent while only waiting for her to continue. “Chronic cancer. Mom’s death was maybe one of the reason of father’s downfall with his business. He can’t think straight, guess that’s why it’s easy for that Spanish hag to take advantage of his motive.”
It was her turn then to look down on its own. Getting sensitive from the memories of her biological parents. Rubbing some droplets of water from her canned beer. “And you know what’s strange?”
“What?”
She looks up then to gaze at him once again. “That we can’t seemed to find her body after being put up in mortuary.”
“Dad that time is planning a private burial for mom, then the day after tomorrow it disappeared. Even the hospital staffs felt puzzled as they were also sure that they have taken mom from that storage.”
“Unless…” he started to interrupt finally.
“Yes, unless of someone. So dad tried checking the hospital’s security, even brought it to the police but none. They can’t give any leads. He was devastated and I can only cry for I am still powerless kid.”
“But you have it now. Did you try?”
“I did.”
Shaking her head then. “But in spite of all the connections I earned, I can’t still.”
So as quietness came in then as it was enough for Jang Taeyoung to fill the pieces in his mind. Staring bewilderedly with nowhere, open for Sung Eunyoung’s notice once more as she tilted her head out of curiosity. “Why?”
Sighing for he is still processing things on a right place. “Now it makes sense.”
For it was her turn to get confused over. “What do you mean?” a simple question, little not knowing what comes next.
“I heard it.”
And it triggered her. Just right to halt the elevated canned beer she somehow planned to sip again.
“What?”

The Husband - Gul Dukat X Reader
A/N: For a lil Anon, you’re great, thank you for requesting, I hope you enjoy! And all you lovely Dukat fans out there, I hope you enjoy too! :) x
alternate title being ‘malachi can’t do titles or endings and therefore the readers have to suffer lmao I’m so sorry
It was universally acknowledged aboard Deep Space Nine that Cardassians were not the most popular of people in the quadrant. Given the stations previous history as Terok Nor, as well as the occupation of Bajor, they weren't the favourites amongst many, and with good reason. Elim Garak took his stay aboard the station, however even that didn't come without its issues for him. Alas, therefore, you can imagine your hesitation to disclose the fact that you were married to one yourself. Your husband wasn't just any Cardassian, either.
Gul Dukat was the man you had chosen to marry. Many would call you mad, and many had. The people around you who knew had tarnished you both by the same brush, and people you had considered close to you had left, not agreeing with who Dukat was and what he did. Though you could hardly blame them for such opinions, something inside you told you he had parts left to love. You would have to be a fool to discredit everything he had done in his past, and you couldn't disagree that it was horrendous, but you saw a man that nobody else saw. Behind closed doors, he was different. You had seen him laugh, you had seen him cry. Dukat had many issues, and you wanted only to fix them.
Putting it lightly, Dukat adored you. Still, even after several years of marriage, he was baffled still as to why you loved him, why you had chosen him of all people. In his mind, you deserved better than him. How wrong he was, he would never know. To him, you were a gift. Every time he needed you, you were there. You fixed everything in him that felt wrong, and Dukat would never be able to express just how much you meant to him. He loved you, far more than he had loved anyone else.
The first time you had met, he was drawn to your fire. You were sarcastic, you were snarky, and he loved it. Nobody had the guts usually to talk back to him; you, however, had no qualms with stepping up that bar. Spitting attitude at him for something he had said in a bar, he knew there was something about you he needed to explore. Little did either of you know it would lead to where you were now.
"You're going to be aboard?" You asked him, the video call having gone on for an hour or so now.
"I am, and I cannot wait to see you" his voice was smooth, his signature smirk gracing his face. You raised an eyebrow and smiled. This would be the first time you would be aboard on his arrival.
"Nobody knows about us here, Dukat, and I'd like to keep my career if that's acceptable to you."
He feigned insult, gasping dramatically.
"Why, Y/N, you hurt me, am I so bad that you cannot be seen with me?" You laughed, picking up on the blatant sarcasm in his voice. You knew him all too well to know he was only joking.
"Absolutely, how dare you assume I could ever be seen with such a man."
It was his turn to laugh, and you loved it. In the beginning, a genuine laugh from Dukat was rare, given he was still getting through a lot of things. Now, you praised yourself on your ability to draw hearty, honest laughs from the Cardassian. Humour was your speciality, after all.
The call went on for a couple more hours, before you had to call it a night, hoping to get some sleep for your morning shift the next day. Bidding each other a fair night, you got your rest, and thankfully, a peaceful sleep overtook you.
Rising the next morning, you got dressed and headed down to the bridge for your assignment for the day. What you had forgotten, however, was that Dukat was arriving that day. Stepping through the door, you heard his voice and stopped to stare at him, unable at first to process the fact he was standing before you.
".. Commander Sisko, please, it's-" He cut his sentence short as his eyes fell on you, the sound of the door originally having drawn his attention. Dukat tilted his head at you, expression unreadable.
The two of you stared at each other for longer than should have been normal, and finally, someone interrupted.
"I don't think you've met our newest addition, this is our new science officer, Y/N. Y/N, this is Gul Dukat, he's here every now and then" Sisko's said, contempt in his voice on the last few words, clearly unhappy at the Cardassians arrival.
"Actually, I-"
"We haven't, no. A pleasure, Dukat." You cut him off and he narrowed his eyes, a small smirk playing at his lips that you'd have to be looking for to find. There was a mischievous glint in your eyes that he picked up on, and it told him you were not going to make his stay easy.
"Indeed, Y/N" came his voice, stiff and somewhat quiet.
"Are you sure you haven't met before?" Sisko sounded certain you were lying, despite your flashy smile aimed his way. He blinked a couple of times, still seeming unconvinced. The tension was clearly felt between all parties present.
"Quite." "Quite." Both you and Dukat spoke in unison, not helping the situation.
Leaving the bridge without acknowledging Dukat again, you went about your duties as though it was a normal day. Every so often, you bumped into him with intent to annoy. That feeling, however, was profoundly mutual.
First, it was on the Promenade; you walked past him as he strolled down, making sure to brush your arm against his as you passed. He grabbed your arm before you had a chance to walk on, and you turned to him with a wink, turning the rest of the way and heading off to your destination. The interaction didn't go unnoticed, as both Julian and Garak watched on at the scene with questioning looks.
Second, it was in the doorway of Sisko's office. You were due to report your days results to him as per, and as you rang the door, Dukat had begun to exit the office, the two men bearing looks that conveyed annoyance. You saw your chance, and looked at your commander as you grazed Dukat's hand with yours, running it up and around his back as you stepped around him. Dukat just stared at the back of your head as you walked on, not even bothering to say hello. Jadzia eyed you as you walked to the lift, a knowing look on her face as she caught your eye.
Lastly, he got you. You were in Quark's having a somewhat quiet drink by yourself. It was something you enjoyed every so often, simply sitting, reading your PADD and listening to the various voices scattered around the bar. As you read the article you chose intently, a hand gently ran itself through your hair, and you spun your head round to see who it was. Nobody was behind you, though you did see a tall Cardassian leaving your table. Raising a brow, you continued to read.
Seating himself next to you, Dukat laid a hand on your knee, which ended up being a hand on your thigh. Refusing to look at you, he could feel your burning glare as you sat still, as if willing him to try anything else. Some started to stare, and you grew agitated with your husband. Odo watched you both silently from his seat at the bar, wondering what was going on and if what the crew had been talking about was true. His suspicions were heightened when Dukat saw his opportunity for revenge, and leaned in every so slightly and kissed your cheek. Having had enough, you walked out of the bar and headed to your quarters.
"I believe I'd call that.. a draw, my love" Dukat's voice rang through your quarters as the door swung open to reveal him. The same smirk plastered on his face from before, you played angry at him to see how he would react.
"How could you think that was okay?"
"I didn't," he started, strolling over to you and placing his hands on your waist. "I thought it was my given right, based on how you acted all day." He backed you up against the wall and lowered his head to rest in the crook of your neck.
"Do explain.." you drawled out, running a hand through his hair and chuckling. You felt him smile.
"Why explain when I can show you the result of your actions?" Bringing his head up, he caught your lips as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. The kiss was passionate, and conveyed every single feeling he had for you. Words weren't spoken between you and your husband, though they definitely were between the crew. You didn't care, all that mattered in that moment was Dukat, and you were glad you had him with you.
Needless to say, it was quite the long night.

*Is not writing the Obitine novel since apparently Disney cant fit it into their schedule*
That was a lie, in case you hadn’t already guessed lol. Anywho, here’s an excerpt from the first chapter since I’ve been a bit slow on uploading any original content. Keep in mind that this is a first draft, so I’ll probably end up editing it later
“Hey, buddy,” Vos clapped him on the shoulder enthusiastically.
“Hello, Quin,” Obi-Wan offered the Kiffar a good-natured smile and continued his walk.
“Off to the races again already, I hear,” Quinlan continued, following his friend.
Obi-Wan cocked a suspicious brow, “Yes,” he kept his tone mild, almost adding ‘unfortunately’ to the end of his sentence, “who told you?”
Quin shrugged and turned, beginning to walk backwards casually, “Oh, you know, my usual informants. Word travels fast around these parts, especially if you’ve got connections.”
Obi-Wan grinned disbelievingly, “Mm.”
“So,” his friend gave him a little nudge as he pivoted back around, “who’s this lady you’re off to rescue, hmm?” He waggled his eyebrows.
Obi-Wan hated to admit it,, but Quinlan was actually quite charming, so he let the insinuation slide.
“The duchess of Mandalore.”
Vos’ eyebrows shot up in disbelief, “The duchess?” Quin repeated in shock, “Damn, Obi-Wan. Aren’t people like her, like, hardcore Jedi haters or somethin’?”
Obi-Wan shook his head, “Not anymore, since the treaty of Kal’desh almost 82 years ago,” he cast a pointed gaze at the Kiffar who he’d obviously lost at the word ‘treaty’, “You’d know this if you’d paid any attention in Galactic History.
Quinlan grinned, “Hey, I passed that class.”
“Only because you bribed Bant with Gumbah pudding for a month and a half.”
“Whatever, man.”
Obi-Wan smiled adding, “Not to mention, she’s supposedly the leader of some pacifist group there. The New Mandalorians.”
Quinlan wrinkled his nose, “Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me. Nothing ever got done by pacifist legions in the past- at least not anything that lasted longer than a couple of years. This galaxy needs structure, not some peaceful delusionists. Besides, how peaceful can a Mandalorian organization be?”
Obi-Wan pursed his lips and looked down, forced to admit he’d thought the same things. How peaceful was a group that’d managed to stay alive among even the harshest of cultural climates? Obi-Wan was guessing not very peaceful at all.
“I’m not sure, but Master Windu said that this mission is of utmost importance.”
Quinlan sniffed, “Yeah, to his paycheck, probably.”
Obi-Wan rolled his eyes, “Quinlan, you know Jedi don’t get paid.”
“Most Jedi. I’m just saying, those council members always seem to be a little concerned with issues outside the Republic, than with issues at home.”
Obi-Wan grimaced- he and Vos had never agreed on that particular subject, “We are defenders of the galaxy, Quin.”
His friend shrugged again, changing his tone immediately and smiling, “Yeah, well, just don’t fall too in love with her, mmkay? She might chop that pretty little head of yours off for peace”
“Isn’t that technically what we do sometimes?” Obi-Wan made a pained expression, despite the fact that he was willing to admit it. There was just something about it that made him feel guilty.
“Yeah, but at least we’re upfront about it.”
“And who’s to say they’re not?”
“Fair enough.”
They walked in companionable silence for a moment, both lost in their own thoughts.
Although unlikely friends at first glance, Obi-Wan and Quinlan actually got along quite well. They were both calculated, witty, mischievous, and sarcastic fighters with a knack for getting themselves in trouble.
Except while Quinlan owned up to causing his antics, Obi-Wan was always the unfortunate person who could be convinced to join in for a cause when things were already taking a turn for the worst.
They stepped up to the entrance of the mess hall, which was bustling with masters and padawans alike cramming generous heapfuls of muja muffins and mist-pudding onto their trays.
“Mm-mm,” Quin rubbed his hands together, “I am starving!”
Obi-Wan couldn’t help but nod eagerly in agreement, eyeing the tantalizing food as a group of creche students passed them.
He wasn’t surprised to spot Qui-Gon at the very front of the extensive line, on time for the food, of course. Obi-Wan rolled his eyes.
“Good morning, boys.”
Obi-Wan turned around towards the direction of the voice, lighting up.
A familiar emerald face greeted him, serene and kind.
Quin turned his head to her as well, “Mornin’ Luminara.”
Obi-Wan bowed and nodded towards the food line.
“Can you believe this?”
Luminara smiled faintly and sniffed, peering in, “On buffet day? Certainly.”
“Aka the only day they serve real food in this Force-forsaken place,” Vos chimed in.
Obi-Wan and Luminara shared a look, but inside Obi-Wan couldn’t help but agree.
The Temple was many things, but it definitely wasn’t a diner.
“What do you think our chances are of paying off some people at the front for their spots?” The Kiffar queried, gazing back at Obi-Wan and Luminara for suggestions.
“Oh?” Obi-Wan couldn’t help the sarcasm that snuck into his tone, “and with what credits do you intend to do that?”
“Dunno. I was thinking more… services,” Quin countered.
Just as Obi-Wan was about to ask what services Vos was implying, Luminara interjected, “At this point, I doubt we’d even get close enough to the masters at the front of the line without being taken away.”
Obi-Wan nodded as he followed her gaze to where a group of large, burly-looking masters stood glaring at the passerby. It looked like they hadn’t gotten their caff yet that morning. He gulped.
“Luminara’s right, Quin, we should forget it and wait until the line dies down.”
His friend glanced over at him, “Don’t you have to leave by then?”
Obi-Wan drew in a sharp breath as Luminara frowned.
“What? You’re leaving again?”
He nodded, glaring daggers at Vos and refsing to look at Luminara.
“Yes, I was just notified about it this morning. Had I known sooner, I would’ve told you.”
“And yet Quin knows,” she quipped, narrowing her eyes and crossing her arms indignantly.
“I’m tellin’ you people, I’ve got connections,” Vos emphasized, leaning against the entrance wall.
Ignoring the Kiffar, Luminara began, “They’re over-working you again.”
Obi-Wan threw Quinlan an accusatory look that was responded to with a simple ‘here we go again’ eyeroll.
“It’s not fair to you, or to the other padawans who want mission opportunities. They want and deserve experience too! I cannot understand why the council is doing this. My suggestion would be-” she was cut off by an approaching figure, which turned out to be her master.
Obi-Wan winced.
“Padawan Unduli, do you really think your time is best spent here, dawdling with these hooligans?”
Obi-Wan disregarded the snide comment, instead trying to throw an apologetic gaze at his friend. Although out of the corner of his eye he saw Quinlan bristle at the remark.
Luminara bowed and lowered her head, “No, master.”
“Then come along, it’s no wonder you’re always hungry.”
She followed obediently, but not before shooting Obi-Wan and Quinlan a sad, apologetic gaze as she left.
Quin snarled when they were out of earshot, “Now there’s someone I’d like to pay off. With a good kick in the-”
“Vos,” Obi-Wan chided sternly.
His friend huffed and glowered, “What?”
“Don’t be crass. At least, not this early in the morning.”
Quin shrugged and rolled his eyes, finally stepping away to look for an open table.
“Besides,” Obi-Wan added while following, “I’m pretty sure you’’l have plenty of chances to do that when I’m gone, and am unable to provide you with proper impulse control.”
Quin laughed.
“Nah, it’s not as much fun without someone there sassing me.”
He returned his friend's cheerful look, “That’s a fair point.”
Luckily for the pair, Obi-Wan spotted a good amount of free space beside Qui-Gon, mostly because his master had a reputation of being a messy eater- not to mention, he had taken two trays.
“Bingo,” Obi-Wan grinned at Vos.
The two padawans approached Jinn and sat beside him, Obi-Wan respectfully nodding while Quinlan eyed the food on the second tray.
“Hello, master,” Obi-Wan greeted.
“Hello, Obi-Wan,” Qui-Gon replied after swallowing a mouthful of food. He took a swig of blue milk and then turned to acknowledge Quin, “Padawan Vos.”
The Kiffar snapped his gaze away from the food, nodding quickly.
“So,” Obi-Wan began, “are there any other details I should be aware of during this mission?”
Jinn turned his full attention on Obi-Wan, “The duchess is young- about your age, I believe. She’s said to be stubborn but kind, with a deep passion for all living things… much like someone else I know.” A playful spark lit up Qui-Gon’s eyes, something about them very knowing.
Obi-Wan did his best to concentrate on what his master was saying instead of Vos’ waggling eyebrows and his hand, which swiped a biscuit from Qui-Gon’s tray. He nodded, encouraging his master to continue.
“She’s also just returned home from a political academy located here. But most importantly, she probably won’t take kindly to our help. This mission was administered by her advisor, not her. And, despite the current peace, I’m sure she hasn’t been brought up in an environment that is… encouraging of the Jedi.”
Point two, Quinlan grinned like a fool as he stole a piece of meat of Jinn’s tray.
“Not to mention,” Qui-Gon continued, oblivious, “her father was a warlord.”
Oh, Force. Suddenly, Obi-Wan was a whole lot less enthusiastic about this whole thing, and that wasn’t saying much considering his attitude towards it was already pretty negative.
He had to protect a war-monger’s daughter? Perfect.
“Wow,” Vos mused, “talk about impressing the father in-law,” he chuckled as Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan turned to glare at him, “she better be really worth it Obi-Wan. Is she at least ho-”
He was interrupted by Qui-Gon’s harsh tone, “her father is dead, padawan Vos.”
“Oh,” Quinlan replied faintly, looking down, “my condolences.”
Qui-Gon shook his head and turned back to Obi-Wan, “All in all, our goal is to be an unseen protection service. After all, we don’t want her getting into more trouble just because we put her off.”
“Why is it that we don’t want her getting into any more trouble, master?” Obi-Wan asked, frowning slightly.
Qui-Gon mirrored his expression, “Because, padawan, she requested our help.”
“I thought her advisor was the one who requested our help,” Obi-Wan retorted under his breath, although he knew he shouldn't've. Although he was surprised to admit to himself that he didn’t quite care- after all, the burly masters in line weren’t the only ones who hadn’t had their caff yet.
Qui-Gon’s frown deepened, “She is her people’s last hope for peace and civility, Obi-Wan. And you will do best not to question her, our assignment, or the council again.”
Obi-Wan looked away dejectedly, “Yes, master.”
He left out any remarks he could’ve made about Qui-Gon doing both of the aforementioned things constantly.
“Now, just let me finish my-,” Qui-Gon turned to his practically empty tray, where Vos had mysteriously disappeared, and sighed.
Obi-Wan stifled a chuckle, leaving behind only a mischievous sparkle in his grey-blue eyes.
“Master?” He asked, encouraging Qui-Gon to wrap up his thought.
“Let’s just be on our way then, Obi-Wan.”
They rose and exited the mess hall, out into the long corridors and what would be a much more eventful trip than what young Obi-Wan was expecting.
╭━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━━✶━━ ⋅𖥔⋅ ━╮
The temple docking bay was huge, containing as large as a republic freighter to as small as a landspeeder.
Droids whizzed about everywhere, attending to some business or another. A few officials or Jedi stood out against the field of endless gleaming metal, but besides that there was nothing else living operating within the place.
Enormous ceilings towered over Obi-Wan’s head as his master led him through the maze of docking bays and landing platforms, until they finally reached a small doorway towards the back.
A droid met them there to provide them with a datapad of information on the ship; mostly a run-down of the controls and its condition.
Qui-Gon nodded in satisfaction, “Everything seems to be in order here.” He handed it back to the droid, who whisked it away immediately.
“How long will our journey be, master?” Obi-Wan inquired, hoping he didn’t sound whiny.
“Not very long. About six standard hours, providing there aren't any hyperspace issues.”
Obi-Wan nodded, stepping out of the doorway and into the bright light of Coruscant.
The ship was a pretty good size; a standard model with red stripes running along its sides.
The Trial, curious. Obi-Wan didn’t pay ship names much mind, but that was just rather odd.
Qui-Gon went to go check with the official while Obi-Wan spotted Quinlan leaning against a couple of crates near the door.
“Vos? How did you know this is where I’d be?”
“Relax man, I just came to say goodbye before you left to go out and find your true love or whatever.”
“You didn’t answer my question.”
Vos grinned and pulled him into a tight hug, Obi-Wan squirming beneath him.
“Stop that,” he said, finally managing to push his friend back.
“Was Qui-Gon pissed about his food?” Quin asked, gazing hopefully to where Obi-Wan’s master and the other man were still conversing.
“Probably, although not any more than me- I still haven’t had any food yet.” His stomach growled, as if to prove a point.
“Eh, you snooze you lose.”
Obi-Wan grimaced as Vos began to saunter away, his finally parting words being, “Later, buddy! Don’t, like, become a father or anything while you’re gone- I’d hate to miss that.”
Eyeroll. “Goodbye, Vos!”
He shook his head at the sound of his friend’s distant laughter, pacing over to Qui-Gon without so much as a glance backwards.
“Is everything alright, master?”
“Yes, just making conversation while you and Quinlan said your goodbyes.”
So he did know. Well, that showed Obi-Wan not to underestimate his master.
“Then lets away.”
Obi-Wan nodded to the man and walked up the ramp into the ship, glancing back at the gleaming building one last time before he took a seat in the cockpit, not even bothering to explore the rest of the ship. He already knew what this model’s interior looked like, and wanted to get this assignment over with as quickly as possible.
Later, Obi-Wan found irony in that wish as he sat in the exact same seat upon the departure of his mission, where the room and his heart had seemed a lot more empty.
Qui-Gon sat beside him, taking control and handing Obi-Wan the mission log from earlier.
“What am I to do with this?” He asked, frowning at the tablet-like device.
“Make notes of the journey,” Qui-Gon replied, “the council emphasized everything is to be included, and since I can’t ever seem to write it the way they want, I thought I’d have you do it.”
“But-”
“Do you have something more productive you could be doing, padawan?”
He shook his head and took the log obligingly without further complaint. It was light in his hands, and he placed it in his lap as he strapped himself in.
“Our belongings have already been loaded on, everything is in order,” Qui-Gon said, still fiddling with the ship’s settings.
“Do we have any food?” Obi-Wan asked hopefully.
Qui-Gon nodded, “It’s back in the kitchen area. Why didn’t you eat earlier?”
Obi-Wan scoffed, “You saw the line, right?”
“You snooze, you lose.”
Obi-Wan sighed, “How about caff?”
Qui-Gon shook his head no, and Obi-Wan deflated.
“Something tells me that despite my hopes, this is going to be a very long couple of months,” Obi-Wan pouted, leaning his head back against the seat.
Qui-Gon smiled, “You’re such a pessimist, Obi-Wan. Ready?”
Obi-Wan nodded, “I suppose.”
“Good. Then let’s get this show on the road.”
The ship lifted off, soared out of the atmosphere and into space, and Obi-Wan made sure to note in his report that Qui-Gon forgot which lever to guide forward for hyperspace. When he did find it, darkness and impossibly bright specks of light blended together, and they rocketed forwards before coasting through space, towards destiny.

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is winged cupid painted blind - William Shakespeare

Your knees hurt already. It had been all of 15 minutes, but the gravel under your legs wasn’t exactly comfortable. You had spent the last hour praying for the god of love to show himself and you fell to your knees desperately in the last 15.
“Oh, god of love.” You drawled sarcastically, ready to leave the dilapidated altar. “Answer my prayers.” You practically rolled your eyes, sick of this nonsense.
You stood slowly, realizing he probably wasn’t going to show himself any time soon. You swiped the gravel off your knees, not noticing the presence behind you.
“You should know not to be so disrespectful to your gods, darling.” A sly voice called. You froze. No way. When you turned to look, a man leaned against the pillars of the altar. He radiated lust and love, an inhuman aura. There was no doubt this was the god of love, lust, and passion.
And unlike him, you radiated a sort of pure aura; compared to him, of course. It drove him mad.
“Oh.” You were at a loss for words. His build was literally of the gods and his face, oh his face. You couldn’t find a single flaw in his face. From his adorable nose to his plump lips. You found yourself staring at his features for way longer than necessary. He smirked. This was a typical response to his appearance.
“Why do you seek me out?” He stepped forward, peering into your eyes.
“I want to know my soulmate.” You clenched your fists. Everyone you knew already found theirs. Your friend, Jennie, had explained that the god of love had helped her, but you didn’t believe her. You thought she was pulling your leg. The god quirked his head to the side.
“Why do you need to know that?”
“Because I’m sick of being alone.” You admitted, mouth feeling awfully dry as you nervously shifted from foot to foot.
His gaze softened, heart thumping.
“You won’t be alone forever.”
“It feels like it sometimes.”
“You’re a demigod.” It suddenly clicked. Your blatant disrespect of the gods, the odd aura surrounding you. Almost godly, but not quite. Not many demigods had a good connection to the gods. They were often cast aside, looked over, thought of as wannabes when many just wanted to live their lives. His altar wasn’t any different than the other crumbled ones around, the only indicator was the Greek letters above, but only a demigod would be able to read that.
“And you’re a god. I’ve come to learn that it doesn’t matter who you are, we all die in the end.” You frowned, thinking of your godly parent, one that had faded a long time ago, sentenced to eternal darkness for the atrocity of giving birth to you. However, being a demigod came with its perks. As long as you stayed healthy, you had longer lifespans while staying youthful. You had stopped aging around 25, but now you were around 60. You would likely begin aging around 100 and then die around 200. You had lived a long life so far without finding love. At first you thought it was possible, but as the years went on, no one gave you that spark, that burning sensation, that claimed them as your soulmate.
“Listen.” You sighed, “I just want to know if they exist. I’ve spent years searching and I thought fate was supposed to bring us together. Are they to be born in another timeline? Shall we never meet?”
The god of love frowned at your lack of faith in him as a god. He stepped forward, close enough for you to make out his face in detail. He radiated love, lust, and passion. His eyes were intense, but you didn’t find yourself scared. In fact, it was almost comforting. He was the definition of love.
“Do you have so little faith in me? Fate has brought you here.” He gently reached out and touched your shoulder. He just needed to check. It was silly to think that the god of love, could not seem to find his lover. There. That spark, that burn. It spread like a wildfire, consuming your everything. It felt like your atoms had rearranged, yearning to be completed by him.
You couldn’t do anything except stare at him. There was no way you were fated to one of the gods whom you so dearly despised. The gods had abandoned you as a child. Was this some cruel punishment? He softened his expression, taking in your frustrated form. Scared, worried, and anxious were reactions he expected from his soulmate, but anger was not one.
“I don’t have to be with you, you know?” You said bitterly. “I can choose to stay away. Not all soulmates stay together.”
Your words clearly had an effect on him because he nodded and stepped away. His eyebrows knitted together in confusion and hurt flashed across his face.
“I won’t force you to join me, but please reach out if you change your mind. You know where to find me.” He gestured to the altar. He, out of everyone, knew that you could put two perfect people next to each other in a room, but you couldn’t force them to love each other. Love was a tricky thing and Jimin knew it best. “Just ask for Jimin.”
Then he was gone, the wind seemingly taking him away. You rushed forward, looking for that sneaky god, but you couldn’t locate him. You had to admit you felt bad about reacting that way. He didn’t expect this either. With a sigh, you called out to the stones. “I’m Y/N. Lovely to meet you, Jimin.”
And of course he heard you. His eyes trailed your back as you ran back into your small town. It was one of the last towns who truly believed in the gods, that’s why so many had altars up. A smile made his way onto his face. Now it was just wait and see.

“Oh come on. You are way too boring, Jimin.” The fiance (I’m sorry I don’t have accents on this computer >:( ) of Yoongi rolled her eyes.
“___, You must understand, love just doesn’t work like that, You have to let it happen.”
“I bet she wants you to chase after her.” ___ continued. “Here, invite her to the wedding. She can be your plus one!”
“You’re too kind. I fear she may be afraid of the underworld.”
“Didn’t you say she’s a demigod?” Yoongi’s fiance quirked her head to the side. She was a human before a goddess. She had no bias against demigods and Jimin felt she was the best to approach about his encounter.
“Yes.”
“Then I doubt she’ll even bat an eye at the underworld.” She viewed her nails, thanking the workers and standing from the salon. “You came all the way to the human world just so you could whine about your love life to the goddess of the underworld. Seems right.”
Jimin scoffed, crossing his arms defensively. He was at a loss for words, however, and he bit his lip. “I came to you because she seems more human than god and I wanted to know your experience.”
“Well, Yoongi basically kidnapped me, but not really. I just knew I wanted to go with him. Then he and I hit it off from there. I fought with Taehyung, stirred up some shit, and now I’m going to be the downfall of Olympus.”
The other gods didn’t like her joking about the downfall of Olympus, but Jimin could always laugh.
“At least my nails will look good while it happens, yeah?”
The love god laughed along with her and the two walked over to the park. The park, known as Plyosum Park, was a great hotspot of godly energy. It was the quickest and easiest way to get to Olympus.
“Now, I must be going.” She smiled, “But, have you ever thought, Jimin, that she’s no more human than she is god? Maybe she just wants to be treated as the person she is; a demigod. That’s why I don’t think I can help you much. I wish you luck, however.” She sent a small wave to him before ghostly hands reached up and dragged her under.
Jimin sighed. She had a point. He’ll just treat you like any person. He let his wings grow out as he prepared to travel back to Olympus. They were a feathery white with golden flakes scattered in between. Many called him cupid for this, but he preferred the name Eros.

You opened the letter with caution. It had appeared on your desk when you arrived home and it definitely hadn’t been there before. The handwriting looked familiar, though you couldn’t place your finger on it.
Dear Y/N,
I am writing to you today because the god and goddess of the underworld are getting married. They have requested I bring along someone and of course my first thoughts were of you. It would be lovely if you are able to join me, but it’s quite alright if you don’t feel comfortable. Please consider my offer, but I will not hold it against you if you choose not to come.
Best,
Jimin
You had to chuckled at his formal phrasing, but you couldn’t blame him. He wanted to give you space and you respected him for being so cautious to your boundaries. It wasn’t expected of the god. After all, he was a god. He could have just kidnapped you on the spot. Maybe he just understands love doesn’t work like that. That made more sense. You carefully wrote back.
My dearest Jimin,
I would be honored to attend such a momentous occasion. Sadly, I seem to be at a lack of formal wear suitable for this kind of event, what do you suggest?
Best,
Y/N
Of course you had to shoot back with your own formal tone. You hoped he understood the sarcasm in it as you hiked to the only place you knew he visited. His altar was old, crumbling, very un-beautiful for the most beautiful god you knew. Then you remembered that you would be meeting many beautiful gods and goddesses in a short time.
You placed the far messier letter down at his altar and hurried back to the village. Jimin was waiting, hoping to catch you, but you were gone before he could even speak. He bent down and slowly picked up the letter. He hastily tore it open, smiling fondly at your words. It was a shame he didn’t get to see you properly before you rushed off.
It was in your nature, as a demigod, to be skiddish around most things; though you seemed to have more of a fight in you than other demigods. The issue was that demigods didn’t fit in anywhere. The gods despised them and regarded them as abominations, hybrids, wannabes. The humans weren’t much better, fearing anything they considered other. Demigods would rarely be able to rest without being hunted by one group or another.
Jimin looked to the middle distance, thinking about what outfit would best suit you. He wanted you to fit in with the other gods and goddesses. While he was a great believer in “love is love” other gods may try to bring you down simply because you were a demigod. It made him feel ill to think of what terrible things could come your way because of your mother’s mistake, not that you were a mistake. He mentally scolded himself. He was constantly on the fritz of checking himself and making sure he said the right things.
He shook his head, returning to his place in the clouds.
-
-
When there was a knock at your door, you jumped in surprise. It was not often that the village people visited you. You lived a lonely existence, but you decided this was fine.
“For: Y/N.” You read carefully, surveying the package on your doorstep. You glanced around, eyes flicking to the house next door and traveling down the empty road. Hurriedly, you grabbed the package and hauled it inside your house, slamming the door shut.
The box was more of a rectangle. It was long and flat and there was no return address. You had a feeling you knew who had delivered it. You walked to the kitchen and grabbed a pair of scissors. Then you approached the package, unsure of how to open it. If this was what you thought it was, you didn’t want to damage it. You gnawed at your lip, brows furrowed in concentration as you painstakingly cut through the thin strips of tape. This is ridiculous, just rip it open. You couldn’t bring yourself to do that, however. You didn’t want to rip the contents. So you continued your work before the box flaps finally undid themselves.
Your breath caught in your throat as you looked at the dress. It was a light pink, an innocent color. You rushed to your room to try it on. Of course it fit perfectly. It had a tight bodice, hugging the upper half of your body in a flattering way. Then the rest of the material flowed from the bodice. Layers of tulle and silk fluttered to the ground. In the box also came a delicate silver crown, headband, thing. The silver was twisted into delicate branches that curved every which way, forming a sort of bramble. It looked so elegant and graceful. The accessories that came with the dress included silver earrings and bracelets. The most important was a necklace. It was an graceful, thin, silver chain, but at the bottom it was weighed down by a light pink gemstone. It seemed to glow, like a beating heart. You didn’t expect anything less from the god of love. You were stunning.
You couldn’t wait to wear it to the wedding in a few days. Jimin would surely be impressed. You found yourself blushing girlishly at the thought of impressing him. You wanted him to want you. To see his eyes light up when you entered a room. To kiss him. You gently placed your fingers on your lips, thinking of his plush ones on yours. You knew he would oblige you if you asked, but you had only met the once and the soulmate bond was inexplicably strong already. You were worried it would consume you if you let it. Would you still be standing if it did?
-
-
Days go by and now you stand at his altar. It’s desolate, looking lonelier than ever before. You shift nervously, having done your makeup to reflect the lightness you were sure he wanted to portray. You knew he was trying to get the other gods to like you and you were still wary of meeting them. However, you promised yourself that you would try, even if the other immortals didn’t. You didn’t want to pace, having already painstakingly made sure your dress wasn’t muddied on the way up. Where is he?
You were beginning to worry. Little did you know, Jimin was freaking out. He was pacing and getting far too worked up for a god.
“Hyung! What if-what if she gets scared and doesn’t want to see me again?” He whined to the sky god. He strutted up and down the hallway that led to his altar. He knew you were there, he could feel it, he just couldn’t bring himself to step through.
“Jiminie, she’s a demigod, she’ll be okay.” Jin squeezed his younger friend’s shoulder. Jimin had trusted Jin enough to tell him about you. He thought of telling Namjoon, longing for the elder’s advice more than anything, but there was something sneaky about that god that held him off.
“What if she doesn’t like me?”
“Why would she show up if she wasn’t interested?”
Jimin ran a hand through his hair and Jin could tell he was about to complain more so he stepped in.
“Hey, you’ll be okay.” He said softly, pushing the god of love towards the door. Who knew that such a suave man was so...scared of love? “If you’re worried about jumping off the deep end and drowning,” Jin had heard that falling for your soulmate often felt that way. “Then it’ll be okay. You’ll learn how to breathe underwater.”
The elder god then took the, now quiet, god by the shoulders and steered him down the hallway. The god of love took one heavy step after another. “Go, you’ll be late otherwise and that won’t do any good to lighten the other gods’ positions on her.” Jin said, almost scolding. The younger god just kept his mouth shut, nodding way too easily to his friend.
“Wait, Hyung-”
“Go.”
Then he was shoved through the doorway.
-
He stumbled straight into you, hands reflexively reaching out to stable you. You gasped in surprise, heat rising to your cheeks.
“Jimin! I thought you weren’t coming.” You said in a huff. The god stood there sheepishly, scratching his head.
“Right, I’m so sorry, I was...” Honesty is the best in any relationship. “...I was nervous.”
You tilted your head to the side. Usually it was the other way around with all the assholes you’d dated in the past. They were always entitled, never asking you about anything.
“Oh, I see.” You said awkwardly. “Well, it’s getting late.” You drifted off. Then you noticed him staring at you. Your cheeks flushed pink again at his gaze. It was intense, searching, as it took in your outfit. You heard him let out a soft breath.
“You look...ravishing.” He breathed, finally putting into words how he felt. But nothing could describe how you looked. You looked like a goddess. Perfection, beauty, grace, intelligence, all in one. He swallowed, trying to keep himself in check. He held out his hand, “Well?”
You hesitated, looking at his soft hands. Hands that had never worked a day in their lives. You cautiously place your hands in his and he pulled you close.
“Let’s go.” He murmured. How he managed to make two words sound so enticing was lost on you.
-
-
“Pleasure to meet you, Ms...?” The goddess in front of you purred, holding out her hand. She somehow made it seem condescending. You and Jimin had been glued to the hip since you arrived, but he had briefly left to get drinks, leaving you to fend for yourself. Every god and goddess in the room was intrigued by you. You just kept thinking back to how extravagant the ceremony had been, but you had been more taken with how gracious the bride was. She was so bright compared to the god of the underworld, but somehow they got along.
“Y/N.” You smiled, your lips pressed together. You looked, and in someways were, like a goddess, but everyone knew there was something different. Your impostor syndrome was driving you mad.
“Right.” The feline-like goddess strolled away. You turned, trying to ignore the headache you had, only to bump into another god. He looked startled, jumping back quickly. He had an airy quality of innocence and bright light around him. He was handsome, devilishly so.
“Oh! I’m so sorry.” You exclaimed genuinely, looking at the god with confusion. He had this air of familiarity about him that you couldn’t quite place.
“No, no, it was my fault. I wasn’t watching where I was going.” He said shyly. Then an arm wrapped around your waist, a drink being handed to you softly. The man before you got visibly more pale at the sight of the god holding you. He didn’t seem scared, just sad, maybe even heartbroken. “Oh, I see.” He nodded quietly, mood doing a whole 180.
Jimin grimaced as he watched the other man retreat. He felt his heart strings tug, but pushed the pained feeling away. You could sense the tension so you carefully unwrapped yourself, taking his hands.
“Let’s dance.” You said softly. You weren’t sure what just happened, but it didn’t feel like your place to pry. As you place your hands on his shoulders and he planted his firmly on your waist, he let out a sigh.
“I know you’re curious, you can’t hide things from me.” He glanced around as you both blended into the crowd of other couples slow dancing. “That was Agape.”
You nodded slowly. That’s why you felt so familiar. Anyone who was close to Eros understood Agape well.
“Is that was he goes by?” You knew Agape to be the innocent love, the first love, and Eros to be a more sexual love, one filled with desire. You also knew that Jimin didn’t go by Eros, he went by Jimin. People often got him mixed up with Agape, claiming him as cupid, but Agape usually handled first love scenarios.
“No.” He said quietly, as if losing his will to speak. “He... he goes by-” He suddenly cut himself off. “Actually, he doesn’t like it when people refer to him by his real name. Just know that I like you now. You don’t need to worry about him.”
You frowned, eyebrows knitting together. “I never thought he would take you away from me? I was just interested.”
“Ah, yeah, there’s been...tension.” He didn’t give you any more explanation so you sought to change the topic.
“Tell me about the other gods.”
He seemed glad to change subjects. Instead, he told you about Seokjin, the friendly sky god who knew of your predicament. Then he went on about his Taehyungie, Kookie, and then his hyungs. You smiled warmly at all his fond remarks, discussing them as if they were his blood relatives. It humanized them, though you weren’t sure if that was intentional on his part. You had just warmed up to the idea of meeting these gods when someone screamed.
-
-
It wasn’t a happy scream. It was a blood curdling, ear piercing, shriek. A goddess ran from the entryway, clearly alarmed. You jumped and Jimin’s hold on you tightened.
You could see Taehyung pull his lover closer and Yoongi pushed his wife behind him. Other gods were taking defensive stances, eyeing the goddess warily. She was obviously a low level god, her aura faint and you were sure she was to die out soon. Seokjin carefully approached her like a wounded animal. Being the oldest, he had this responsibility; to meet all threats to his circle with full force.
“Ah, Ms. Lee, what troubles you today?”
The entire room stilled, watching Ms. Lee carefully. Seokjin spoke calmly, but there was a fierceness to his voice, a demanding power.
“We’re under attack up above. They’ll be here any minute!” She was inconsolable. You gripped Jimin’s arm and he held you impossibly closer. And attack? By who? The enemies of the gods were long gone and any god who tried to cause trouble was sure to be eliminated quickly. All the gods seemed troubled except a certain war god.
“Great! Then we’ll go to war!” He shouted, anger in his voice. Being the war god, you were sure it was his natural voice. Jimin started radiating a more dominating aura. You realized then that he had hidden most of it as to not freak you out. Now he glowed a luminescent light pink. You knew he was quite literally a lover, not a fighter.
“Now, now, how do we know this isn’t just a set up?” Yoongi narrowed his eyes, clearly not wishing to discuss war on his wedding night.
“Well either way we’d still be under attack.” The girl beside Taehyung breathed. She had a point, you couldn’t deny that. Jungkook’s eyes met briefly with Taehyung’s lover and you could almost see the spark of tension despite being a little ways away. Taehyung put himself between the two subtly. You had a feeling there was a story there.
“Jimin?” Your voice was a whisper as to not break the very thin surface tension of the room. He squeezed your hand in response to tell you he was listening. “Are we in danger?” Your heart beat rapidly. You knew you were the most human here. You were strong, but you wouldn’t last a second against a god. Okay, scratch that, you might last two seconds, being a demigod, but you were still severely disadvantaged. You didn’t want to a) be a burden and b) be killed.
“I’ll keep you safe, love.” He murmured quietly, leaning down and pressing a kiss on the top of your head. You felt your body heat up, wishing those lips to be on yours. You just nodded along, not trusting yourself to say anything else. Then there was a bang outside and the sound of the guards running. You turned to him. eyes wide.
Taehyung was already pushing his lover and Yoongi’s wife together, having another god usher them somewhere safe. You paused, wanting to join them. You even saw Yoongi’s wife turn and look at you expectantly. All the gods and goddesses who valued their lives were running. There was another bang and it was chaos. Those who had been frozen in place were now running and those who wished to fight were materializing their weapons. Jimin looked between you and the door, clearly debating. You gently pushed him towards his friends, knowing he wouldn’t want to leave his brothers.
Then you pressed a quick kiss on his cheek. He flushed red.
“Maybe you’ll get a kiss on the lips if you come back unscathed.” You joked, winking playfully as if he wasn’t about to go out and face...whatever was behind that entryway door. He didn’t respond, just nodding firmly. You rushed to join the other two women who were considered V.I.P.s because of their status and relationships to the inner circle. As you were ushered out of the room, you heard the door burst open and you prayed Jimin was safe.
-
-
You shivered, the dress not doing any good to keep you warm. The women beside you had hardly spoken a word to you except one, who was the bride herself. She had introduced herself to you and then gone quiet. Obviously, she was worried for her new husband. The other woman was shaking like a leaf. You were surprised the relationship between her and Taehyung worked, but you knew love worked in mysterious ways. The bride offered you a small smile, pulling off her pristine white cardigan and handing it to you. You thanked her lowly before resuming your staring contest with the wall.
It was a nice room, a library somewhere even more underground than the underworld. The goddess of the Earth was obviously more wary of you than the one of the underworld. Though, from what Jimin had briefed you on, she had once been a human too. You were all worried sick for your loved ones, of course. No one could think of much else. The constant shouting was driving you over the edge. You just wanted some peace and quiet.
Having always been introverted, you didn’t enjoy crowds for long periods of time. Keeping to yourself and staying out of the way was the best. As much as you disliked the gods, you and the women in the room were sharing a bond. A bond of fear. You were quite the opposite from Jimin in that way. He was a very social person, always going out of his way to talk to people, his words always smooth and graceful. You, on the other hand, were just...there. You stumbled over your words, rambled, and had trouble concealing your emotions as well as him.
There was a knock on the door. You all looked at each other, eyes wide and waiting for the password to be spoken. There was none. It’s not them. You mouthed. The door flew open before you had time to react. You counted your seconds. Two seconds against a god. You had two seconds.
You were just confused, however, when you were met with a familiar face.
“Mom?”
-
-
The long forgotten goddess didn’t even flinch at the anger in your expression, nor the tears that betrayed your pain. It was all too much. She had changed so much. Once the goddess of wisdom, the original goddess long before Namjoon, she held herself with grace. But her frame all bones, no fat, her face was gaunt, and she looked liked she had just walked out of a halloween store. Your breath caught in your throat as she grasped your arm, hard enough to cause a whimper of pain. The other women were forced to follow along as well.
She escorted you out to the ballroom. You felt yourself go pale, stomach dropping to the floor as you surveyed the room. Blood, everywhere. You couldn’t tell whose was whose. Gods are gods, but they bleed. And when they die, they must wait to be reborn once more. You felt your heart clench, seeing the inner circle on their knees. They looked defeated. Seokjin was comforting a sobbing girl, only to have her ripped away and whisked somewhere else. This made the elder god snarl, but he stopped almost immediately after looking at their captors. And who wouldn’t?
They were ghastly creatures, looking like demons out of a novel of pain and horror. Some of them had melted skin, others had hollow faces and haunting stares. All brandished with various “K”s on their bodies. You noticed your mother had one on the side of her neck. The gods were arguing with someone, but you couldn’t make out everything, the argument in full on Greek. Then there was a loud cough. Your mother threw forth the other two girls first. You watched Taehyung and Yoongi’s eyes go wide, before going back, completely feral, to arguing. Then your mother pulled you in close.
“Y/N.” She said coldly, despite her seemingly motherly embrace. “You have disappointed me greatly, I pray Kronos spares you.” Her lips were a thin line as she threw you to the ground too. You tripped over the debris and landed on your hands and knees. You looked up, meeting the eyes of Jimin.
You saw a quiet fury. You knew Jimin was diplomatic, he wouldn’t yell, but you could feel his anger from across the room. He mouthed ‘I love you’. And you frowned a little. This was not where you wanted to be confessed to. You wanted him to say to you, alone, and secluded. You selfishly wanted that. Now the enemy had stolen your first I Love Yous as well.
“Put her with the others.” You understood that part. The masked leader gestured to an underling who unceremoniously dragged you over to the other women. You huddled together as they shoved you into a cage with the crying girl from earlier. Yoongi’s wife wasn’t crying, but she did seem to be in a state of shock. Taehyung’s lover was crying, trying to conceal her sniffles. You gently shrugged off the cardigan from earlier, handing it to her. She took it quickly, hiding her face. You even heard the smallest thank you. Underlings surrounded you like specimen, watching you like you were zoo animals.
“Yoongi!” The bride called out, panicked. You felt it too. There was something bad coming. Then the cage moved and you felt nauseated from the sudden movement. You panicked fully for the first time. Where were they taking you?
“Jimin!” You screeched, hand stretching out. His eyes widened farther.
“Y/N!” He called back, fighting the restraints and lunging towards the cage.
Taehyung’s girlfriend sobbed loudly and Taehyung looked over, concern evident as he struggled to reach out, mental focus just on getting to his lover.
“I love you!” You cried. “Please look for us, don’t give up on us.” Came out your broken plea.
“I’ll search the ends of the universe just to see your face, Y/N.” You heard him say. The underlings restrained him and you sat back, feeling defeated already. The others knew you weren’t a goddess and they immediately babied you, knowing your body to be far more fragile from theirs. Tae’s girlfriend shot you small smiles of encouragement and you did so in return. Yoongi’s wife rubbed your back and the third mystery woman remained silent as you were driven to gods know where.

this is how galaxies collide || alistair x warden (aeducan)
Alistair has grown up without touch. Touch is bad, touch is sinful, touch only leads to corruption. Then, at Ostagar, Duncan returns from Orzammar with a new recruit; a dwarf covered in darkspawn blood with silver hair and a silver tongue to match. As they travel Ferelden together, he finds himself re-evaluating everything he knows about bodily contact. [ao3]
a/n: cw for canon-typical violence and injuries.
chapter one - join us in the shadows
Wind howls round the cold, empty halls of the chantry; a haunting, melancholy rendition of the hymns sung that morning. Outside the rattling window, the storm rages. A crack of lightning throws the room into sharp relief, and Alistair curls up a little tighter under his blanket, fists clenched with fear. There are no warm bodies to keep him safe here, no mabari paws to cling to. No gentle whines or rough tongues licking his cheek as he cries. His chest aches with loneliness.
A rap on the door interrupts his thoughts and he sits bolt upright, wiping the tears from his face with the heel of his hand.
“Up, child. Your presence is required.”
Alistair pulls on a robe over his nightclothes and scurries to the door. One does not refuse the voice of the revered Mother.
Even if it is past bedtime, he thinks.
She barely gives him a second glance before walking off down the corridor. Alistair follows.
A crack of thunder sounds almost directly overhead, loud enough to make Alistair’s ears ring. He jumps, grabbing for the closest source of comfort he can: the revered mother’s hand.
Before the thunder roll has even petered out, she snatches her hand away from him and turns her eyes on him, full of cold disapproval. He cowers under her glare.
“You do not touch a woman,” she spits.
Before Alistair can even open his mouth to reply, she marches off. He bows his head and follows, fresh tears forming in his eyes while shame burns his cheeks.
Touch is sinful. He must face his fear of the storm alone.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Alistair huffed as he stalked across camp to complete his task. Of all the people to play messenger boy to the mages, why did the revered mother pick the ex-templar?
That’s precisely why she picked you, he thought to himself. It’s an insult and you know it.
He was going to refuse, but Duncan had been hovering nearby, watching, and Alistair knew if he had, Duncan would have stepped in and made him take it anyway.
Typical of his mentor, always pushing him to be the better person.
He wanted to just conveniently ‘not find the mage’, apologise profusely to the revered mother and get on with his day. But he’d never been a good liar and Duncan’s disappointed sigh was more than he could cope with, so he slumped off in the direction of the old temple, kicking at loose stones and muttering under his breath. If his armor had pockets, his hands would definitely be inside them.
It didn’t take long for him to find the mage in question; he was stood alone in the centre of the plinth, running through simple combat sequences, moves flowing one into the other as though he was meditating instead of letting off powerful blasts of fire at the crumbling pillar in front of him. He turned, saw Alistair, and sighed heavily, not bothering to hide his disdain. Whether it was at being interrupted or at Alistair specifically, he couldn’t say.
“What is it now? Haven’t the grey wardens asked more than enough of the Circle?”
Alistair bit his tongue. Remember to be civil. Don’t start a fight. Don’t antagonise him. He chose his words very carefully and spoke each one as neutrally as possible.
“I simply came to deliver a message from the revered mother, ser mage. She desires your presence.”
The mage scoffed. “What her reverence desires is of no concern to me. I am busy helping the grey wardens – on the King’s orders, I might add!”
Alistair fought the urge to roll his eyes, and just about succeeded. “Should I have asked her to write a note?”
He could feel the mage practically explode with impudent fury. “Tell her I will not be harassed in this manner!”
I’m not a fucking messenger pigeon, he thought. Sometimes mages can be so fucking stubborn. “Yes, I was harassing you by delivering a message.”
“Your glibness does you no credit, man,” the mage spit back.
To hell with civility.
“Aww, and here I thought we were getting along so well!” Alistair said, each word dripping with sarcasm. “I was even going to name one of my children after you – the grumpy one.”
The mage looked as though he was about to hit him, and Alistair almost wished he would.
“Enough! I will speak to the woman if I must.”
It was not lost on Alistair that he just succeeded in annoying the mage into deciding that between him and the revered mother, she was the lesser of two evils, which was pretty impressive going in the time allowed, even for him. He suppressed a victorious grin.
“Out of my way, fool.”
The mage stalked off, almost bumping into someone on his way, and that’s when Alistair saw her: barefoot, muddy and spattered with darkspawn blood. White hair, dark skin and dark, determined eyes, that looked like they’d seen a lot more of the uglier side of the world than they should have.
Beautiful, said the loud, very unhelpful voice in the back of his head. He ignored it.
“You know,” his mouth said before his brain could stop it. “one good thing about the blight is how it really brings people together.”
Yes, that’s it, Alistair. Take one look at this woman with fire in her eyes who seems like she hasn’t slept in about four days, who is absolutely covered in blood and decide she’s the perfect person to tell a sarcastic joke to. Really stellar work there.
He winced internally, waiting for another outburst like the rapidly disappearing mage, but instead, the stranger just raised a single eyebrow and smiled wryly.
“You are a very strange human.”
Oh. Well then.
“Yes, I get that a lot.” He paused, doubting himself for a moment. “Wait, we haven't met, have we? I don't suppose you happen to be another mage?”
She frowned, then gestured to herself. “I’m… a dwarf? How could I be a mage?”
Maker, Alistair, you are absolutely killing it today.
What he wanted to do was apologise for being such an idiot. Instead, mouth bypassing his brain again, he shrugged and said “I don’t know. Sometimes they creep up on you.”
“Like your imagination, it seems,” she replied, dryly and without hesitation. There was a pause of a couple of seconds, where they stared at each other, both completely deadpan, and then, at the same time, they burst out laughing.
“My name is Janna—” said the dwarf, still smiling as she extended a hand for Alistair to shake. He noted the hesitation at the end of her sentence, as though she was about to give a surname but held back at the last moment. “A pleasure to meet you.”
Family is probably a painful subject, then. He thought. Avoid jokes where possible. Maybe we can bond over our tragic backstories in the future.
“I’m Alistair. Newest grey warden.”
“Oh good, you are who I was looking for.”
Duncan must have sent her.
He nodded. “As the junior member of the order, I’ll be helping you prepare for your joining.”
“Prepare?” She frowned, a tiny furrow appearing between her eyes.
“Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to say much.” He gestured back towards camp, and she fell easily into step by his side. “Sworn to secrecy and all. Duncan will explain to you and the others soon.” He paused. “Have you met the other recruits?”
Janna wrinkled her nose a little. “I’ve met Daveth.” The word unfortunately hung unspoken in the air.
“Yes,” Alistair replied apologetically. “The other is Ser Jory, a knight from Redcliffe.”
Janna nodded. Alistair was a little surprised by how easily he fell into conversation with her.
“So, that mage?”
“Mmmm?”
“Why was he so… uncooperative?”
Alistair barked out a laugh. “How much do you know about mage regulation?”
“Only a little,” Janna admitted. “I read what I could in Orzammar, but being a dwarf, it tends not to be a sought-after topic of study. All I know is that the Chantry controls the Templars and the Templars watch the mages.”
Alistair nodded. “Well, that’s enough to explain this particular situation. I used to be a templar.”
Janna frowned. “You were permitted to leave the order? Even from my limited knowledge, that’s surprising.”
Alistair laughed again. “Yes, well. I was still in training and Duncan had to invoke the right of conscription to get the Revered Mother to let me go. I’ll never forget the look on her face. I thought she was going to have us both arrested.”
Why am I telling her all this?
She laughed. “That I would have liked to see.”
“So, the mage was upset, because the revered mother sent me with the message as an insult. He was smart enough to pick up on that, and well, you saw the rest. I would have refused to take it in the first place but–”
“–Duncan.” Janna finished.
“Yes. Apparently, we should all be doing our best to get along and be civil, but no one else seems to have received that particular lecture.” He sat down on an unoccupied bench, under the shade of a large oak, only partly pretending to sulk.
Janna laughed again, joining him. “Sounds just like Orzammar. Though we tend to settle our grievances with one-on-one combat, and I can’t imagine that would go down as well up here.”
Alistair chuckled. “Definitely not, but I can think of several people who would jump at the chance. Including that mage. I’m going to have to watch my back in case he ‘accidentally’ trips and sets me on fire.”
Janna threw her head back in another laugh, and the swaying branches above her caught her eye. She smiled softly, reaching up to tug a leaf free and hold it, studying it in minute detail.
“I didn’t realise quite how beautiful the colour green is.” She said quietly. “The surface is full of surprises.”
A shadow of sadness flitted across her face, and Alistair wondered just how voluntary her departure from Orzammar had been. He flailed mentally for a way to distract her.
“Oh, Maker, you should see the southern coast in summer,” he started. “You wouldn’t believe the colours. Greens of the trees, bright oranges and reds of the fruit in the market. For a blissful month or two, the sea is a gorgeous teal, rather than, y’know. Dull Ferelden grey.”
“I’ve never seen the ocean.”
“Well, when we’ve dealt with the blight, I’ll bat my incredibly charming eyelashes at Duncan, and persuade him to let us all take a trip. We may even convince him to take his armor off.”
For a while, they simply sat and talked, laughing about some of Alistair’s wilder seaside adventures; he was grateful for the diversion – the mood had been so grim and serious recently, and it was a welcome relief to talk about anything that wasn’t darkspawn fighting tactics or the upcoming battle.
A comfortable silence fell between them for a moment, broken only by the background chatter of the camp, and the barks of the mabari from the kennels.
“What are mabari like?” Janna asked, evidently prompted by the noise.
“You mean you’ve never–”
Janna gestured to herself again. “We don’t have much use for them, you know, underground.”
Alistair flushed. “Right. Yes.” There was a pause, and then, “do you want to go and meet them? I’m sure the Kennel Master would oblige you.”
Janna grinned. “I’d like that.”
“Well it takes us in the right direction, since we’re obliged to go and meet Duncan anyway.”
She almost fell over herself in her excitement, and Alistair bit back another laugh. He’s laughed more times in the past half an hour than in the last six months combined. He followed her to the Kennel Master but pulled up short when he saw the look on the man’s face. He heard a little of the conversation, and pity filled him. He hated what fighting the darkspawn did to the mabari.
His train of thought was cut short when he saw Janna slip inside the gate. Curious, he crossed to the fence and observed.
“Hey there,” she murmured, gently crouching next to the injured creature. He growled warily. “My name is Janna. You probably haven’t seen many dwarves before, have you? I’m here to help you. Will you let me do that?” She paused, giving the dog a moment. When he didn't react, she continued, offering her hand gingerly for him to consider. “I just have to put this muzzle on, so your master over there can make you feel better. Is that okay?”
The mabari whined a little, and sniffed Janna’s outstretched hand, then licked her fingers and rolled onto his side.
“Maker’s breath,” whispered the Kennel Master, talking to himself as much as Alistair. “That poor dog’s been snapping at anyone that so much as looks at him for the past three days.”
“Some people just have a way, I suppose,” replied Alistair, just as stunned.
Janna clambered out the enclosure, looking back miserably at the freshly muzzled mabari. “I hope you can ease his pain a little.”
“Thanks to you, I should have no trouble. But, if you head into the wilds, look for this.” He showed her a rough sketch, and Alistair recognised it as a Wilds flower. “I can make it into a salve that draws out the poison.”
“Got it. I’ll bring back as many as I can carry.”
“Thank you kindly, lass. You’re a good soul.”
“Alistair! Janna!”
Duncan called to them from across the fire, and waved them both over. Jory and Daveth were with him, and Alistair held back a groan. Time to head out into the Wilds.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Alistair grimaced as he wiped darkspawn blood off his blade and sheathed it, along with his shield.
Maker, they don’t get any less disgusting.
Janna made quick work of collecting the blood, storing it in the pouch at her waist with practiced ease. She seemed totally unfazed by the massacre, her indifference made all the more apparent by just how shaken Daveth and Jory seemed to be.
Alistair consulted the map, getting their next heading and directing as appropriate, but within two minutes, Janna darted off the path and crouched next to a rotting log.
“What in Andraste’s name is she doing?” Daveth said, rolling his eyes. “It’s like she wants to be ambushed.”
She returned almost as quickly as she left and held out her hand for Alistair.
“This is the flower the kennel master wanted, right?”
Alistair blinked. He had all but forgotten, but yes, in her hand was a small clump of Wilds flowers, red centres bright against the pure white petals.
“That’s the ones.”
She smiled and stowed them away, before falling into step beside him. Her alertness did not escape his notice; one hand always on the hilt of her sword, whilst her eyes scanned the wilderness with expert perception. It took him a second to realise she was still barefoot, and only just stopped himself wrinkling his nose.
What possesses someone to hunt darkspawn without boots?
“By the stone,” she breathed, faltering beside him, and Alistair followed her gaze to where three soldiers were strung up like cured meat from a tree bridge. Every face was contorted with fear, and his gut wrenched uncomfortably.
Poor bastards. They didn’t deserve that.
“Look there!” Jory called. “There’s movement on the path!”
Janna was gone in a blur, and she had already crouched at the source of the disturbance by the time Alistair realised that it was a wounded soldier.
He sprinted after her, in time to catch the end of the man’s sentence.
“… out of the ground. There were too many. Everyone is dead.”
“You’re safe now, it’s alright. We can get you back to camp. What’s your name, soldier?”
“A-a-aaron,” He stuttered, making any coherent noise clearly an intense effort.
“My name is Janna, I’m a Grey Warden. I’m here to help you.” She was knelt beside the man, cradling his head in her lap. She’d removed his helmet and started stroking his hair, gently wiping the sweat from his pain-creased brow. She looked up at Alistair.
“Do you have any poultices? Any bandages?” Her voice was deathly calm, and her eyes flicked down to his abdomen. He took the hint and chanced a look, and then instantly wished he hadn’t. The soldier’s – Aaron’s – blood-soaked hands were cradling his stomach, and Alistair could see the glistening of his intestines underneath his shredded tunic. Beside him, Daveth gagged.
“Never mind bandages, you’re going to need a fucking funeral pyre.”
Jory glared down at him, and Daveth cowed uncharacteristically under his gaze, mumbling out an apology.
“I have both in my pack,” Alistair said, ignoring them both, delving into the bag and pulling them out. Janna wasn't even looking at him as she held her hand out for the items; her eyes were on Aaron’s face, keeping him distracted and stopping him panicking.
“When I give him the signal, Alistair here is going to put a poultice on your wound and then bandage you up, ok? I’ve got some draught here as well, which should help with the pain. It’s going to hurt to start with, but I need you to just hold on, alright?”
The soldier grimaced and nodded, breathing shakily.
Janna turned to Alistair. “Ready?”
He wasn’t, but he nodded anyway. “Ready.”
She lifted Aaron’s hands and gripped them tightly. “Deep breath in, Aaron,”
As he took in a shaky gasp of air, Alistair pushed the poultice deep into the wound. Aaron went grey and half screamed, half sobbed in agony. His knuckles were white under the blood, clutching Janna’s hands with a death grip. Alistair worked quickly, wrapping bandages around his torso and tying them off neatly.
Janna soothed him all the while, and once Alistair was finished, she propped him up gently and helped him take a swig of the healing draught. When he finished, he took a deep breath and slumped back into Janna’s arms. Fresh sweat was beading on his forehead, but his pallor was far healthier than it had been five minutes ago.
“I’m going to help him back to camp,” Janna said, the tone of her voice brooking no room for argument. “He’s stable for now, but if he encounters any more darkspawn, he’s done for.”
“Andraste’s tits,” Daveth muttered. “As if we didn’t have enough to be worried about. Should have just put the poor guy out of his misery.”
“We’ll come with you,” Alistair said, a little too loudly, deliberately speaking over Daveth and shooting him a warning look.
Janna smiled gratefully. “Thank you.”
It took them about an hour to carry Aaron back to the gate. Janna propped him up the whole time, offering him generous swigs of healing draught and keeping his mind off the pain by chatting with him continuously. She asked him about his home, his family, his sweetheart. With each response, Alistair could see the fear dissipate from his shoulders.
The guards on duty looked stunned when they opened the gates.
“Maker’s breath–Aaron? Aaron, what happened?”
“Squad got jumped.” He replied, grimly. “I would have been off to the Maker with them, if it hadn’t been for the Wardens.”
“Thank you,” said one of the guards, his voice thick with gratitude.
Janna nodded in recognition. “We’d best be getting back to our own mission now. I will come to see you later, Aaron.”
“Andraste watch over you, Janna.” Aaron said, wincing as he leaned against one of the guards.
Janna turned back to the rolling hills of the wilds. “Thank you,” she said to the group, as the gates to camp closed behind them again. “I understand your reluctance to assist him, but I appreciate your help regardless.”
Daveth opened his mouth to retort something, but Jory punched his arm before he could get it out.
“You’re welcome,” he said. “It’s nice to see kindness isn’t completely abandoned in this desolate place.”
Janna turned back to them, and Alistair watched as an emotion he couldn’t quite place crossed her face, and then she smiled.
“Onwards, then?”
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Alistair paced back and forth near the fire. The meeting seemed to be taking an age. He’d tried to lie in his tent and settle down for the night, but his heart was too heavy to sleep.
Two more were dead. Jory’s last words echoed through his ears.
There is no glory in this.
“The Light shall lead her safely, Through the paths of this world, and into the next,”
The words came almost subconsciously. Alistair knelt down by the fire and clasped his hands together, closing his eyes. He wasn’t one to pray much, not anymore, but he somehow always found himself reciting Transfigurations when there was cause for mourning.
“For she who trusts in the Maker, fire is her water. As the moth sees light and goes toward flame, She should see fire and go towards Light. The Veil holds no uncertainty for her, And she will know no fear of death, for the Maker Shall be her beacon and her shield, her foundation and her sword.”
Alistair finished the verse, its familiar lines settling over him like a blanket, comforting him, even if only for a moment. He stood, wiping away stray tears, and kicked a smouldering twig. He doubted he would ever get used to watching a joining. He wondered what they would tell Jory’s wife – widow.
He could only be grateful that Janna made it through. He would never, could never, celebrate the deaths of the others, but if there had to be only one survivor, he was glad it was her.
The moment they had got back from the Wilds, she had made a beeline for the Kennel Master and deposited a veritable mountain of flowers at his stunned feet; she had picked every single one she could find on their journey, and by the time they returned her pack was almost overflowing. After that, she marched to the infirmary to check on Aaron. The nurses and healers practically fell over themselves to thank her for her quick action. Alistair had watched her from a distance; once she had had a long talk with Aaron and left him to rest, she went round every other patient and helped the medical staff prepare ointments and poultices with the competence of someone who was definitely not new to the experience.
She is certainly a puzzle; he thought to himself. He had watched her cut down darkspawn with terrifying efficiency, and then find the body of a fallen soldier, recover his last will and testament, and insist on seeking out the hidden cache mentioned so that she could hopefully return it to his widow. Jory had been right. She was kind to her core, and that was very rare. War usually stripped kindness out of people before anything else. Janna seemed to be determined to hang onto hers until her last breath, probably to her own detriment.
And she did all of that with no fucking shoes on.
“Alistair!”
Her voice broke his train of thought, and he looked up to see her walking towards him, the rest of the attendees of the meeting going their separate ways behind her. He found himself smiling at her sudden appearance.
“All finished?”
Janna rolled her eyes. “Mercifully, yes. No thanks to Loghain or Cailan. We could have cut that time in half if they would stop clashing over literally everything. Now, I think I would like to settle down and have something to eat and then I am going to sleep for as long as possible. Tomorrow is going to be a very long day.”
“That can be arranged.” Alistair smiled.
They walked together to the food tent in comfortable silence. Once Janna had wolfed down two and half helpings of stew and a good-sized mug of ale, she looked up at him softly.
“Thank you,” she said. “For earlier. With Aaron. You didn’t have to help, but you did.”
“You don’t have to thank me,” Alistair replied, truthfully. “I’m just glad we could do something before it was too late.”
Janna reached out and took his hand, squeezing it appreciatively. “Still. I am grateful nonetheless. I will sleep a little easier tonight knowing we helped save his life. Especially after…” She tailed off, but Alistair knew she was referring to the joining.
As silence fell over the two of them, he bit his lip, and then seized his opportunity to both change the subject and answer his burning question.
“Look, I’m really sorry. But I can’t not ask. It’s been bothering me all day. And you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” he finished hurriedly, as Janna tensed up, probably preparing herself for something tasteless at best and racist at worst. “But… why on earth aren’t you wearing boots?”
Janna blinked at him, like it was taking time to actually process what he said. Then she looked under the bench, looked back up, repeated the action, and then groaned loudly and dropped her head into her arms.
“Sweet Ancestors, I cannot believe -”
“Fuck,” Alistair said, feeling laughter bubbling up from deep in his stomach. “You didn’t realise, did you?”
Janna shook her head, still face down. He could see the tips of her ears flushing deep red and desperately tried to stop the laughter from escaping, but it was no good; when Janna lifted her head with the look of someone who has never been more disappointed in themselves, he lost it.
“How in Andraste’s name can someone forget they’re not wearing shoes?”
“I am beyond humiliated.”
“I mean, I admit that makes me feel a little better,” said Alistair, shoulders still shaking with laughter. “At least I know you weren’t deliberately wading around barefoot in darkspawn blood.”
“When I… left Orzammar,” Janna said carefully, and the particular way she chose her words was not lost on Alistair, “my boots were damaged, and Duncan didn’t have any to hand that would fit a dwarf. When I got to Ostagar, everything happened so quickly, and I never had time to ask the quartermaster for a pair. Please don’t tell anyone. I have to maintain some level of reputation. If I strike fear into people’s hearts because they think it was on purpose, then so be it.”
“Well, your secret is safe with me, now that you’ve put my mind at rest,” replied Alistair, raising an eyebrow but otherwise leaving the explanation well alone for now. “Thank you. I can rest easy knowing our newest initiate is not a total barbarian.”
Janna chuckled into her ale, eyeing him impishly. “You never know. I might just creep up on you.”

The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4) | Book Review
by Rick Riordan
Synopsis
Hazel stands at a crossroads. She and the remaining crew of the Argo II could return home with the Athena Parthenos statue and try to stop Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter from going to war. Or they could continue their quest to find the House of Hades, where they might be able to open the Doors of Death, rescue their friends Percy and Annabeth from Tartarus, and prevent monsters from being reincarnated in the mortal world. Whichever road they decide to take, they have to hurry, because time is running out. Gaea, the bloodthirsty Earth Mother, has set the date of August 1 for her rise to power. Annabeth and Percy are overwhelmed. How will the two of them make it through Tartarus? Starving, thirsty, and in pain, they are barely able to stumble on in the dark and poisonous landscape that holds new horrors at every turn. They have no way of locating the Doors of Death. Even if they did, a legion of Gaea's strongest monsters guards the Doors on the Tartarus side. Annabeth and Percy can't exactly launch a frontal assault. Despite the terrible odds, Hazel, Annabeth, Percy, and the other demigods of the prophecy know that there is only one choice: to attempt the impossible. Not just for themselves, but for everyone they love. Even though love can be the riskiest choice of all.

Thoughts
For some odd reason, I always find myself in a state of surprise at how much I love Rick Riordan’s books. Here’s why. I usually read one of his books once in a while because I do not want to reach a day where I have to wait for his next book. Sarcastically, the horror indeed. And because I do that, I usually only vaguely recall loving Riordan’s works but never fully understanding just why or how much. Hence, the surprise. Which is why I’m here to conclude, Uncle Rick’s books are magic.
If it’s not obvious enough, yes, I thoroughly enjoyed and loved The House of Hades. I have been wary about The Heroes of Olympus series every time I pick a book – from the series – up. This is due to the fact that I absolutely love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and in addition, I love the characters in that series, especially Percy Jackson. Why do I get wary with The Heroes of Olympus then? Because it does not always focus on Percy and the amount of major characters doubled. Yes, it is still taking me a while to accept the “new” characters.
Plot (storyline, writing style, and flow of story etc.)
I must say, so far, The House of Hades has my favourite storyline in the series. I enjoyed the Argo II crew, mainly because I love Nico and Leo, and Hazel is finally starting to grow on me. What I really enjoyed, was Percy and Annabeth’s journey through Tartarus. That was something else and every part in Tartarus kept me captivated the entire time I was reading it.
Honestly, if this book had only focused on the Argo II crew’s journey, I would probably be bored out of my mind. Sure, I liked that part where Leo was stranded on Calypso’s island, and the part where Nico and Jason met up with Cupid. But other than that, the flow was boringly stagnant. The progress was slow and so when the Tartarus parts came up, I sprung into speed-read mode.
I hope you understand where I’m coming from. Like come on, when we are at the Tartarus bits, there’s Bob and Small Bob. Even the challenges or monsters Percy and Annabeth encountered were so much more interesting than Argo II gang. So, once again, Percy Jackson along with his wonderful girlfriend, Annabeth Chase, saved this book for me.
Characters
Is it obvious I really love the OG characters? I mean, I smiled widely when Rachel and Grover appeared for that tiny part. If you’ve reached this part of my review, you probably can tell I absolutely adore Percy and Annabeth. And I will never forget to mention my cinnamon roll, Nico di Angelo. These characters will always be my beloved.
Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the “new” characters. I used “” only because we are on book four already, so they aren’t really considered new anymore, semantics-wise. On the bright side, Leo has definitely grown on me, and I would like to thank his sarcasm and sense of humour for that.
Additionally, I found myself liking Hazel a lot in The House of Hades too. I honestly cannot remember what I specifically thought about her in the other books, but she matured a lot from what I can recall. Apart from Annabeth, Thalia, Clarisse and (now) Reyna, Hazel is another one of those kickass female demigods.
As for Jason and Piper, I do not dislike them but I do not find myself loving them too. Like what Hazel said, Jason’s too perfect. And Piper...in her own my-mother-is-Aphrodite-so-I’m-hella-charming way, she’s sometimes considered too perfect as well. Perfect characters are usually not fun to read about.
I guess, this finally brings me to Frank Zhang... I appreciate his growth and new-found maturity. But nope, there’s still nothing about him that I like. He is probably the only character I dislike, or at least he’s the only one I remember disliking and the feeling does not change in The House of Hades.
Conclusion
How does one tell if a book is a good book? How does one confirm an author writes beautifully?
When the author is able get his reader (in this case, me) to mourn for a Titan and a Giant. Sure, I am exaggerating here now but Bob and Damasen’s inclusion in The House of Hades was meant to shatter me via an overload of emotions, the good kind.
I noticed tears were forming when I reached the last few sentences of this book. They were the simplest words one can use and they brought out tears from me. THAT is what I call beautiful writing for a magnificent book.
Rating: 5/5

“Thank you.” Danielle smiled, as she and Paul walked up Diana’s driveway, “I don’t even remember answering the phone.”
“I have never seen you so tired.” Paul chuckled.
“I sort of overdid it in swimming yesterday before work.”
“Don’t you have a training schedule?”
“Yeah, but I was talking to Joanne, and she was saying about going for a half Iron Man, and would I be interested,” Danielle knocked on Diana’s door as she spoke. “But swimming is my weakness, so we said we would see if I could do fifteen hundred metres because then I would be able to work up to nineteen hundred, but that was still seven hundred more than I…” the door opened, causing her to look around. Instead of her friend or her mother, she was face to face, or more specifically, face to chest with Tom. “Tom.”
“Elle.” He gave a small smile as he looked at her.
“Your car isn’t here?” She looked around to double-check; if she had seen the Jaguar; truthfully, she would have left it until another time to come for the bike.
“No, Emma and I drove from London in my car, but she and mum have gone to Sainsbury’s, so they took it.” His tone because disheartened as he realised she was less than pleased at seeing him. The noise of a throat clearing came to his attention and he looked to the side of Danielle at who he knew would be Paul. On seeing him, however, his eyes widened. “I…”
Danielle, for a moment, was expecting some form of nasty comment about the doctor, but when she realised it was shock on Tom’s face, she followed his line of sight. “You probably don’t remember Paul from your last visit, Paul, well you’ve seen Tom’s sorry ass all over every magazine in the free world. As for Paul’s face, he was attacked at work.”
Tom swallowed at Danielle’s comments regarding his recent overexposure in the papers but extending his hand to Paul almost robotically. “Hi, I’m glad we could do the introductions over.”
Paul gave a polite smile back. “Definitely, and sorry about my appearance.” He indicated to his face.
“Did you actually…?”
“No, he’s actually a part-time cage fighter; yes he was attacked at work, by a crazed drug addict.”
Danielle’s snappy sarcasm showed her discomfort; it was something Tom had noticed about her. She could be nicest human being he ever met when she was comfortable in her surrounds, but the more uncomfortable she became, the more vicious her sarcasm was. “Do you want to wait for Emma and mum; they’re gone for about an hour so they will be back in a few.”
“Unless Emma has taken the opportunity to steal the Jag,” Danielle commented, causing Tom to give off a small chuckle. “She has made more than a couple comments with regards that. No, I better get the bike and head to work, I got caught to cover tonight.”
“Right…yeah, it’s right in the hall here.” Tom turned one way slightly, before turning the other and getting the bike. “Is it the right size?” He asked, holding it out for her. “It seems small.”
“Maybe to those who are six-one, but to ‘short-arses’ it is perfect, I may just need to adjust the saddle.” Though Danielle was in no mood to be overly friendly with Tom, her eyes lit up as he wheeled the bike in front of her. “It’s a 9.5!” she began to bounce in excitement.
“You are aware that that probably means nothing to anyone here but you, right?” Paul smiled fondly.
Tom had been smiling at her excitement also, but Paul speaking caused him to swallow again, eyeing the other man in an assessing manner as he looked at his girlfriend. “Seriously, though, do they actually have colour schemes?”
“Yes, each year has a distinct colour scheme, dictating the year of production, admittedly, it’s not the nicest scheme they have had, but who cares, I have a 9.5!” she giggled. “Thank you, Tom.”
Seeing her face so lit up with joy as she looked at him gave Tom a peculiar sensation in his stomach, one he could not recall getting for years. “I just saw the sign and thought of you.” He smiled back.
Danielle seemed to remember her previous discomfort and tried to straighten her face some bit, but the smile remained. “Well I appreciate you doing that, and for having the balls to contact me about it, I know I have not made myself seem open to talking to you of late.”
“Yes, well, I think it is safe to say it is understandable.” He gave a solemn face.
“Yeah.” Danielle could not look him in the face. “I better go to work anyway, thank you again, Tom.”
“Glad I could help, bye.”
Paul gave a small wave, which Tom reciprocated and the pair turned to leave. As they got to her driveway, Danielle noticed the Jaguar driving towards them, but she did not stop, not having enough time to talk anymore before going to work.
*
“Was that Elle and Paul?” Emma did not even salute her brother as he stood with the door still open as his sister and mother pulled into the driveway.
“I think it’s obvious it was.” Tom scoffed, “Who else would I give Elle’s bike to?”
“So she spoke to you?”
“A little, I think she was too excited about the bike to forget to hate me,” Tom stated sourly as he helped his mother with the groceries.
“She does not hate you.” Diana clipped his arm in a scolding manner. “If she hated you, she would have walked off without the bike.”
“Mum, the way she acted when she saw the bike, she would have spoken to Margaret Thatcher if it meant she would wheel it away.” Tom dismissed. “She was over sarcastic, you know what that means with her.” Diana looked at him confused. “She only does that when she is uncomfortable, it’s why Jack thought she was a bitch the first time he met her.”
“Well, I kind of threw her in at the deep end there.” Emma chuckled at the memory.
“She is just glad to have her bike.”
“Well good, she deserves it.” Diana beamed. “I never noticed her to be so sarcastic, are you sure about that? She could not have been comfortable the day she came here first, and she was anything but.”
“Apparently self-deprivation is a large trait in the Irish, especially when nervous. She dismissed herself as stupid, foolish and idiotic all in two sentences for coming here.” Tom reminded her.
“I had forgotten about that,” Emma admitted Diana nodded to state her own forgetting of it. But Tom had remembered.
*
“That went okay,” Paul stated as Danielle placed her new bike next to her other road bike, admiring it.
“It was so fucking awkward, I didn’t even know he was there. Jesus, if I had…”
Paul pulled her into him, “What does it matter, it’s done, and you have your lovely new bike.”
Danielle smiled. “I love it so much.” She bounced excitedly again.
“I have never seen you like this, so giddy.”
“Well, with work, I have to be so serious and professional, but I love being like this.”
“I like you being like this. I’ll have to endeavour to be the reason behind it someday.”
Danielle looked at him. “You know the bike is the reason I am like this, don’t you?”
“I know.” Paul looked down at her. “I know, you are not Julie, you would not do what she did.” He kissed the top of her head. “And thank you for understanding, for not thinking I am utterly neurotic.”
“Well you have never accused me of flirting or going off with any of the lads I work with; I just see you get concerned in yourself, trying to stop yourself from worrying, I would never do that. Everyone has a few hang-ups after relationships. No one is left on the shelf until my age without some issues.”
“What are yours?” Paul looked down at her. “You said you haven’t been with anyone since you came here, so that means you must have had a really shit boyfriend in Ireland before.”
“Well, you see how long it is taking me to…you know.”
“Yeah?”
“I just…when I was younger, in college…”
“You went to college?”
“Yeah, I went and studied a year of accounting before I realised I could not stand it and went to be a paramedic.”
“What happened?”
“I, well…I went and slept with a guy too early into a relationship, I felt cheap and trashy. I mean the girls in my apartment did it all the time and they seemed indifferent; and whatever, if that worked for them, more the power to them, but I hated it, and of course, it only lasted until I decided I didn’t want that. So my impression of men is that they are only really interested in one thing.”
“That is a fairly accurate assumption on the male mind circa ages eighteen to twenty-two.” Paul agreed. “So have you had a boyfriend since college?”
“Other than you?” Paul nodded. “One guy, he moved to Galway which was hours from me, he was nice and everything, but different lives, so we parted ways on good terms, last I heard, he is getting married soon.” She smiled.
“You only ever seem to want what’s best for others.” Paul smiled affectionately.
“Why would I want any different for them, as long as it doesn’t negatively affect my life, I want everyone to have a good one.”
*
Danielle was sweating, it was humid and wet, so she was gasping for breath as she pushed herself. Her Garmin telling her she only had another four hundred metres before she was due to stop. It meant she had a half kilometre walk home, but that would help cool down her legs. When she came to the forty-kilometre mark, she gently pulled on the breaks to come to a halt.
“Hey.” She turned to look at who was nearby, causing her to forget to pull her legs out of the pedals and onto the ground, meaning she fell over. “Shit!”
“Fuck.” Danielle hissed.
“Shit, Elle that was my fault.” Tom rushed over to her, pulling her to her feet as she got out of the pedal. “Are you alright.”
“Yeah, my body broke the fall for the bike.” She groaned, checking the bike over.
“Your concern is for the bike?” Tom chuckled.
“Just because I got a new one, does not mean I am going to throw this one out.”
“Why aren’t you using the new one?”
“Too wet, I am not used to her yet, couldn’t risk getting hopped.”
“If ‘getting hopped’ means falling off, I have bad news for you.” He chuckled again. “Come on, I’ll help you home.”
“I’m fine.” She dismissed as she walked, limping slightly due to her bruised and cut knee she had obtained in the fall.
“Elle, please.”
“Just keep running.”
“I went far enough, I can walk from here.” He stated. “Look, Elle, I can run and get my car, or I can take the bike, and let you lean on me, but I am not going to leave you dragging your leg along the road like that.”
“You make me sound like a zombie.”
“Well, you sort of…” he stuck out his tongue slightly between his teeth in jest.
“If you dare say I look like one, I will beat you to death with my helmet.”
Tom put up his hands in surrender. “I concede.”
Danielle began to smile for a moment but her face went neutral again. “I am fine Tom, you better go home.”
“Elle…”
“I don’t…”
“Please Elle, talk to me, I miss having conversations with you.” Tom pleaded. “I mean, you are one of the only people to be a hundred per cent honest with me, even when I didn’t want to hear it.”
“And look where it got me.” She retorted.
“Just so you know, you have Ben’s, Luke’s and my family’s utmost respect, you did more than everyone else was brave enough to do, it was you that kicked Ben into action.”
“That was pretty brilliant of him, he is morphing into Holmes with that mind.” She smiled.
“Thank you.” She frowned at him. “Thank you for risking our friendship to try and get through to me, thank you for putting yourself out for me.”
She eyed him for a moment. “I didn’t just do it for you, your mum, your family, in general, didn’t deserve that shit.”
“No, they didn’t, you thought more of them than I did.”
“Yeah well, they are annoyingly nice.” She shrugged.
“Yes, well…” without realising it, they had walked the rest of the way to the two houses. Tom looked at Danielle’s smaller home. “Is he inside?”
“Paul, no, he’s working today.”
“Does he do this too?” Tom indicated to the bike.
“No, he’s not into sports.”
“What?” Tom raised a brow.
“He doesn’t like sports.”
“Like, any sports? Tennis? Rugby? Golf?”
“God, you are so upper class.” Danielle laughed. “No, he does not like sports, at all.”
“What do you even watch on TV?”
“Not sport.”
“Will he go to any of your triathlons?”
“I can’t imagine he’d like to.”
Tom frowned, he knew what Triathlon meant to Danielle, she often placed on the podium at events. “That’s odd.”
“How; of all your pictures of you running in the US and Oz, there were none of Swift with you?”
“But she does go to the gym.”
“Tom, she walks out of the gym with the exact same hair and makeup as she goes in; I think it is safe to say she is just promoting whatever fad is in vogue this week; I mean, when have you ever started a run in the same manner you finish, I have ran with you, you don’t stop until you are after giving it everything.”
“You’ve never ran with me.”
“I was nearby on a bike.” She dismissed, causing Tom to laugh, “It’s not my fault you have stupidly long legs.”
“It’s not my fault you have stupidly short ones.”
“Touché.” The smiled at each other for a minute. “Thanks for walking me back.”
“It was my fault you fell.”
“Yeah, can’t really argue that.” she smiled. “But not everyone would stop.”
“You mean, the version of me that I became would not have?”
“I would have fainted if he had helped me,” Danielle admitted.
“Well, he’s gone.”
“Good, I prefer this you, it is more authentic.”
“Can you forgive me, Elle?”
“Forgive what?” she smiled.
“You’re the best.”
“This I know, this I know. Bye Tom.”
With a swelling in his chest, Tom waved her off. “Bye Elle.”

11, 12, 14, 18, 19, and 29 with the word 'scar'
Hoo boy, that’s a lot but I’m always up for a challenge!
11. If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be?
FLUFF FLUFF EVERY WHICH WAY TO SUNDAY seriously though fluff makes me happy and I love writing it because I’m a sap
12. Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to?
Soulmates definitely, I haven’t written it before but I’d love to do the ‘words’ interpretation of it where either the first, last, or most important words they say to you are on your arm or something, especially the middle one because the sudden oh is just, great.
14. If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick?
Oooo that’s a toughie... Aqua from Kingdom Hearts would definitely be one, both because she’s just a lovely person that would be very helpful in the ‘keep everyone from freaking out’ department, is a good fighter, and also can just straight up create portals to the lanes between and get help once we get our bearings and figure out whether or not it’s safe enough on said island that being down a fighter would be a good idea, second would probably be 2B from Nier Automata, very good at fighting and doesn’t need food or water so if there isn’t a lot of that on the island we don’t gotta split it three ways, plus she’s just a delight in her own way and would just be fun to hang with!
18. What is a line/scene you’re really proud of?
I had a lot to chose from but by far my favorite lines are from ‘Catching The Dawn’ which is a VSingers fanfiction I wrote and am still writing, especially Ling and Moke’s interactions because they’re both extremely sarcastic sassypants.
"I just thought today was a good day to take a swan dive into the stage and get tackled by a two ton tiger, duh." Ling rolled her eyes at the question, trying to mask her lack of an answer with sarcasm.
"It's not day you moron, It's night." Moke sighed.
"Oh wow, you're right. I could have sworn that it was noon." Ling look around, pretending not to have noticed.
He scoffed. "Still sarcastic, I see."
"Still an ass, I see." Ling growled a bit, fairly fed up with him by now.
"Another dollar for the swear jar!" Moke called from his place on the floor, quickly having to dodge an angry kick to his side from the brunette.
"I'll remember that the next time you hit your knee on something."
19. Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why?
Easiest would probably be Ruby Rose, I write with her a lot and I’m such a big RWBY fan that her personality just comes to me pretty naturally. Hardest would definitely be Chloe Price, she might have a distinct personality and way of speaking but I have a bit of a formal way of writing so I have to be very careful whilst writing her to make sure I don’t make her too eloquent.
29. Send me a word. If it’s in your WIPs, include the sentence and a short summary of the fic.
Again this is from Chasing The Dawn, it was the only use of ‘scar’ that wasn't just part of a scene and makes some sense by itself, the only context is the squad saw a scary movie and Luo got spooked so she went to sleep with Ling because Ling wasn’t scared at all
"Luo...? Gh... It's like...." Ling paused to let out a yawn.
"...Three...? Four AM...? Let me get some sleep..." The girl mumbled sleepily and tried not to hit Luo with her pillow out of instinct. Living with her brother had made her very intolerant of early wake up calls, both Longya and Shi Tian probably still had a scar from when he woke her at 5 am and the nearest object was her instrument.
