TA heard my challenge that tonights episode of Superman might give us the Best Lois Lane Incarnation, and it shot back by airing (on its random, preset, schedule, this is the Universe) the episode of the 90s animated series where Lois gets zapped to the Evil Superman Dimension (the one where she's dead) and has to fight on her own.

It's a Great Episode. Probably one of the few Legitimately Great episodes of the series that don't involve crossovers or guest stars (this was a hypothesis posited by others that holds unsettlingly true).

Lois gets to Do A Lot, the lighting's great, the environment is off-putting, they did a lot for a twenty-minute cartoon.

Heck, Lex and Mercy DIE in this episode. Horrifically.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, ESPECIALLY BY THE STANDARDS OF THE 90S...

YOU GET THE KISS.

LOIS KISSES SUPERMAN.

First time in the show, if I'm not mistaken!

And then she goes back to hers.

All in all, one of the best episodes of the show, and it's clear that the 90s series did NOT Hold Back with its challenger for tonight's young upstart. Full power, no two-parters, wholly self-contained. killing allowed, kissing allowed, integral to the plot, it will be referenced later, clothing damage, it's one that if you tuned in late, you KNEW it was Serious.

Sad thing is...I feel like it's going to feel Quaint with what Toonami has in store for us tonight.
