I basically only use mal for anime+manga so I can keep all my schtuff in one place. I don't really interact with the userbase on there though cause it's notoriously stupid (though there are exceptions) I also haven't written much reviews on there yet but I plan to change that

the queen has arrived! 🌸 this is my first OP figure of this kind and I’m super pleased with how lovely she is! the shimmery paint job has a nice touch and her boots look like patent leather. she’s a bit wobbly on her tiny base, but I think I can hide a little extra support on my display.

one of the last bastions of oldnet-esque forums that haven't changed is, somehow, the anime figure collection community. while anime figures have become easier to acquire and not as much of a wild goose chase as they once were, the older forum board is still regular within the community, with the primary website being used "myfigurecollection" almost entirely an oldnet-style forum with some social features updated to it, such as clubs (which allow for smaller groups of people to have a smaller forum within the website) and the advertisement/sales section.

I know I'm gaining more readers, those who aren't familiar with the academy, so I'll do a short explanation of what you'll be seeing from the academy!

In short, the academy series is a reverse harem/polyamory series set in Charleston, South Carolina.

( so you'll be seeing multiple men date the same women in this book, so don't be shocked lmfaoo ) most of this won’t happen until we are well into the story — but I’d hate to confuse all of you! I’d like every single one of you to enjoy and understand the story completely!

The academy ( that MFC won't be much involved or at all ) is basically a top secret organization that specializes in helping men, women, and children who are in an abusive relationship or homes and help them get out of that — most join the academy to help others in the same situations.

There are teams that work together and are basically a family in all but blood; and "family is a choice".

The men in teams are referred to as "dogs" and the female team members are referred to as "birds".

'Ghosts', whether birds or dogs, are children without much history to their names. They are priceless to the Academy.

The Academy's system works on a series of favor and financial debt. Everyone in the Academy starts out with financial debt. It's the value of the education an Academy student requires to become the best at what he does. If it was a private investigation training class or an eight-week boot camp, or you were starving and needed groceries to get through a human biology class, the Academy took care of it. Your debt can't just be paid off directly, it requires completing various Academy missions. Whatever it is, there is a price tag.

Favors though are the real core of the Academy. Favors are anything that doesn't have a price - usually family problems within the Academy that other members can't handle alone. New members owe ten favors immediately, with the maximum owed being thirty. The value of a task in favors varies depending on the task.

All Academy trials are comprised of the same parties: the whole team, plus five randomly selected members from other teams, presided over by a manager who has collected all the data. There is no age minimum for the randomly selected members, the only requirement is that they had to be past initiation and a full member of the Academy. The ultimate goal at a trial is to keep the family together as much as possible.

Each team has two leads. The first is the main contact for the Academy, they track the jobs the members go on, and let them know what jobs are available. The second is the family lead, who keeps track of all the team members, and makes sure that everything runs smoothly for them - ensuring they have food, bills are paid on time, and everyone that needs a job has one.

Most of this information is from the academy wiki site ( 'cause it's fuckin' complicated to explain it all )

but I want you all to be able to understand it enough to enjoy the story without being confused!

Most of the time, I'll explain through River and my other characters.

I hope this makes sense!

River won't be very involved in the academy, but there will be mentions and most of River's story revolves around, not only Jungkook and Moon, but River's brothers, friends, and family!

[The reply I wrote is pretty long and turned into a bit of a rant- I guess it's something I wanted to say and this ask is the perfect occasion for it]

i have just set a a plug-in (created by the wonderful @/glenthemes) that will filter and hide any content that is suggestive or is linked with 18+ sources on this blog. no matter what I post, I want to make sure everyone is safe and doesn't have to see content that could make them uncomfortable.

given the context, nsfw content of ukagaka is inevitable, and when it's not the content itself it's the source. it's not that easy to find a good middle ground between posting content of the time and wanting to keep the blog clean.

still, I want to note that: i will never post explicit content. suggestive, maybe, and content made by artist who draw nsfw, yes, it's inevitable but NEVER full on NSFW. And never anything suggestive featuring characters that are canonically minors, or drawings that were visibly, explicitly created with the intent of being seen as such.

I don't mind NSFW images of Ukagaka all that much (expect NSFW loli) what I cannot stand is irresponsibly posting it to public spaces for everyone including children to see, lying, deceiving and putting and putting sense of morals aside (for instance, buying netrunmon's weird ass magazines full of lolicon and litteraly illegal content -possibly related to real life CP- just cause there's biscuit-tan on the cover so you can fill your MFC page and post images on Tumblr and say "look I own some shit with the character you guys like on it" )

I know, I know, these characters are popular enough to where people want to see more of them and not popular enough to where there's a lot of content easily accessible, so you wanna be that guy who owns something that's kinda rare, it makes you feel good I know, but is your photo going slightly viral in communities already overflowing with content worth it ?

Conversation with a friend made me reconsider my views, I no longer feel its necessary to censor anything that could lead to potential NSFW as much as I used to, not only is it like i said pretty much impossible (wether we like it or not, Ukagaka is tightly related to echii and lolicon culture, most popular ghosts were created by people known in the doujin world- usually for their nsfw work and the program itself was created with options such as lifting the ghost's skirts up) it's also important to note that it is something that exists i don't want to censor the past and I'd rather be honest and mention NSFW when I post it, with warnings for those who don't want to see it than pretend it doesn't exist or try to deceive people into thinking is SFW.

Even if some things these Japanese artists draw are pretty questionable, they (most of them) at least make sure to put their 18+ works in different galleries with and appropriate warnings. As it should be. And we should do the same. (Honestly it's kinda funny how some people take artworks that are carefully stored away in 18+ galleries just to repost them in public, all ages blogs, as is)

Im gonna take an example of a person, if you know who, you know, but i won't mention any names (I don't want to bicker with them anymore I just think it's a good example of what I'm trying to say) someone who posted a cropped image of a hentai of Mayura, to make it pass off as SFW (because this person claimed to be against NSFW of her) by doing so, not only are they lying to their followers which kind of sucks but anyone who were to try and reverse search the image to find out what the source is would be met with NSFW. In that case it would be better to be honest about the NSFW nature of that image as to avoid that scenario. Either you want to keep anything NSFW away from your blog in which case, don't try and sneak in images of hentais in it OR post images coming from hentais but be honest about it.

Me ? That's what I'll do, if I post anything that is from an NSFW source, then I'll mention it, and I don't think I want to censor names anymore, because- if the viewer is fully warned that by looking into the source they will be met with 18+ then the responsibility, if they proceed, falls on them. I really am doing all I can to make sure that people know what they are looking at and what they would be getting into and I trust you guy's judgment to know wether you want to proceed with soemthing or not.

TL;DR, if I post a link to a website that has 18+ content or a drawing that is suggestive, not only will it be hidden behind a filter so nobody who doesn't explicitly click on the image has to see, so anyone is free to ignore 👍

I decided against censoring sources and names and instead give appropriate warnings (instead of "I won't name the artist cause they draw porn" -> "the artist is [artistname] just so you know, they draw porn")

Also maybe you're thinking "it's not that deep" but for one, protecting young minds against potentially shocking media is very important, I know the internet corrupted all of us, but I swear, you guys, we actually should try to keep porn away from kids (Crazy I know !) + as someone who certain trauma and who is very sensitive to nsfw, even drawn, I know it can be a hassle and some people would rather stay a miles away from it and this needs to be respected, I'm not gonna go "well the world shouldn't adapt to your problem" or "welcome to the internet" when i have the same problem (and when the problem is people not wanting to see things that shouldn't ever be out so freely in the first place)

Let's just be responsible people who don't post weird porn into public spaces because honestly it just doesn't need to be 👍

Hi! I was wondering how you go about printing works for binding? I really enjoy book binding as a hobby, but I've only ever done blank journals/notebooks. If you have any tutorials or starting points for me to do my own research into binding printed works, that would be greatly appreciated! I love your work and I hope you have a great day!

Totally!!! So, I don't have too many specific tutorials for you. But the digital side of what you're Iooking to do is called typesetting, and I have this post by armoredsuperheavy, which is where I got started. My approach evolved organically from there (for example, i no longer do anything with coloring text), but it's a pretty good foundation for harvesting and formatting your work. It emphasizes microsoft word, but libreoffice is a free tool that will do almost anything word can. A lot of what i absorbed and ways i evolved came from hanging with the renegadepublishing crowd on discord,and they have more resources for other tools too, but I've been comfortably in my word groove from the start, so i don't know those well. I think das bookbinding on youtube may have some resources too? But I'm also not familiar.

Before i mention printing your own material, a sideways less-known option is to purchase a book "in sheets" and do your own binding work with the printed pages! It used to be a pretty standard way to buy a book, but is a lot less common now. I know this australian store recently went up offering books in sheets, and shipping rates out of the country are apparently decent, but i haven't purchased anything myself yet.

And then there's printing books yourself. I already had a good workhorse prinyer when i came to this hobby, so I've done my printing at home, but i know some people have also paid for printing at staples or at libraries, or some have used nearby universities. Again, it's an area I'm not super familiar with, but i know there sre options. And if you're in a place where you want to shop for a printer, NOT HP. Hp's ink/toner practices are downright predatory. Brother and Canon are both better brands. And laser or ink tank printing is more economical than toner cartridges. I have a color laser duplex printer, a canon mfc 644 cdw that i like a lot. But it would have been a hefty investment if I'd had to buy outright, so there are options before reaching that point!

its a little messy n not well lit.. shelves are a little disorganized too especially the bottom two but its fiine ! lucky star shelf i showed you before is third down on the left. im gonna take better pictures to post here and on mfc once my sega power figure comes in and i move my toga and midari sections around

basic explanation, starting from the top on the left shelf: -combination toga and midari section, with my full ohshc manga set in the back -jiro section, with all my mha manga -lucky star section <333 -misc section, largely demon slayer, w assorted manga -another misc section, kinda where i stuck my least favorite figures LMAO im sorry guys right shelf: -mostly one piece section, partially disgaea section -yamato shrine plus kakegurui section runoff -mainly my edward shrine plus funkos lined up along my tokyo ghoul + tg:re manga sets, but my NSO section is slowly growing. plus miku -hxh section! mostly meruem, komugi, and neferpitou- theyre my 3 favs. couple misc figures next to them too -red box on the right of the lowest shelf is where i stash all my weed LMFAO isnt it a genius spot.. nobody would ever look or suspect. im soo smart.. anyway rest of that is misc manga and its kinda cluttered just pretend you dont see that

speaking of midari and toga sections! here are closeups of both !

midari section is currently cramped and messy.. usually has kakegurui manga behind it (hence the empty spot) but hunter is borrowing the first few volumes rn so it looks sad and empty :( need to move the midari section to another shelf because it and the toga section next to it are getting too large to coexist on the same shelf anymore they need more room. and speaking of toga section

wonderful angel.. also getting crowded mostly because banpresto always makes giant ass bases which take up lots of space on shelves </3 take a hint from pop up parade bp your base game SUCKS.

here is my jiro section !

gets a whole shelf all to herself (except for the dabi figure.. who is my bookend). im on a quest to get every single (non-gk) figure of jiro EVER made and so far i am missing seven out of sixteen :( most of the rest are trading figures and funkos except for the bellfine scale figure which is hella expensive.. like $100+.. but she will be mine eventually. here are the ones im missing

top 3 are trading figures, middle is still on preorder i think so it cant be mine yet , jst need to track down the other two somewhere. on the bottom are two of the funkos which are easy to buy but i dont LIKE having funkos and i dont WANT them but because its jiro i have to buy them anyway :/ im just putting it off. i almost ordered the first one the other day but decided to wait for the price to go down a bit. middle one is a gamestop exclusive thats bundled with a t shirt and i could easily buy it rn at, yk, gamestop, but i dont want the t shirt so i gotta buy th funko individually off ebay. last pic on the bottom is the bellfine scale, found it for $90 on a site recently when it usually goes for $120/$130+ so hopefully it'll be mine soon!1 anywayy sorry 4 yapping.. just love jiro will collect all her figures 4ever. wish i could do that for toga but she has too many :( 62 compared to jiro's 16 :( anywayyy more shelfies

they also bring it up briefly in this episode with Lucy Dacus (since that may appeal to you Gays) and i think it’s really important to think about, how certain aspects of nihilism—especially presented by people of privilege like white cis men—is damaging. How it is important to be blunt and acknowledge the systemic issues of our society and how deeply damaged it is, but how that MUST be aligned with an initiative to progression and solution and finding change in order to actually mean anything.

Matty has been an exception to this annoyance in the past (like around the MFC era when they implemented tons of environmentally conscious practices while touring, vowed to only play in gender balanced festivals, being outspoken about reproductive rights, him and Ross’s antics in Malaysia, etc) but lately and during this era it’s been a bit different and i think he’s fallen under the umbrella of this issue.

hey fancy chatting about band generally? I just got a load of concert vids from 2019 on my Instagram explore page. I GENUINELY LOVE s/atvb and im excited to see where it goes. I think it’s culturally significant, necessary and intelligent. No one else is doing anything like it. Buttttttt I kind of miss the old days? I think I’m being sickeningly nostalgic. But like ABIIOR / MFC tour was unmatched. Matty was healthy and not famous enough to be hated like he is online today. I just miss it. And (again, despite loving current era) I kind of hope the next era leans closer to classic 75, rather than further past satvb. I know they’ve always been a band who say SOMETHING but I miss the old days in a way. Just a sap who has been here too long lol xxx

i know what you mean!! i do think the next time we see them (which tbh i don't think will be THAT far away. those boys love doing gigs!) it'll be a bit more laid-back; well, as laid-back as a 75 show can be lol. at the end of the day, we go to these shows because we love the band and we love their music, and they know that - it's also got to be a bit exhausting (physically and mentally) doing the more theatrical stuff night after night for so long, so i think they'll definitely be a bit more relaxed at their next set of gigs post-satvb. they say a lot about the state of the world in their music as is, so i think they can let it speak for itself a bit more; i truly am obsessed with atvb and all (former theatre kid), but i'd be happy with whatever format their concert took. i just love them, you know? <3

(also. i would quite like the 2019 middle part curls to make a reappearance from matthew, definitely)
