idk if ur taking asks abt this so feel free to delete lol its so refreshing to have somebody have a nuanced level headed take on when a content creator isn't perhaps the perfect ally. Skizz has clarified in a pinned comment about an hour ago as of me sending this ask, and while there's some level of responsibility to be had when you are an influential presence like a content creator, at the end of the day he's also just a guy. he's not gonna have the perfect responses to stuff. and i say this as somebody who very deeply identifies as transgender: unfortunately, right now, even though it shouldnt be, our identities are political. that sucks major fuckin ass and it shouldn't be a radical take to want everyone to have human rights, obviously, but that's not the reality right now. so when skizz clarified that he meant polarizing topic instead of political, i totally get that tbh. is it disappointing in some aspects? yes, but he also clarified he does not tolerate hate in his spaces or when people begin to cause harm to others. I understand everyone who is kinda jumping at it like "what do you mean polarizing??" even after the comment he pinned, but its like... That's also part of the problem. I get it, it shouldn't be a problem to begin with, but idk. Defs rambling now sorry x. IMO he's right in that this isn't really a great conversation to be had in youtube comments and ive seen a couple commenters jumping at him like "why not" and its like!! i get where you're also coming from but in the current climate its not realistic + skizz is also just A GUY, he's not going to be a perfect political ally. I'd rather an imperfect ally who tries his best and doesn't tolerate hate than performative allyship, you know? Alright sorry for the ramble here. I wanted to talk about how I feel and every other opinion i've seen feels, well, polarizing. I really, really hate how fast fandom can jump on a train to cancel people- not that that's happening, but you see crumbs of it, you know? have a lovely day and thank you for the refreshing take lol
Of course.
I did NOT expect Skizz to do a complete 180 on what he did. I even gave him permission to delete the comment and think on it, because I understand Skizz a little.
This man DOES NOT care about what others think of him. He's said so many times. He cares that his intent was misunderstood.
Over the course of the 18 hours I had my comment up I was reading everyone's tags on my post and do have a few alterations to my original thought which I will go over in the last update to this whole thing.
At the end of the day people have to realize that no matter how strongly you feel, you opinion is still subjective, and cannot be summarized effectively in a simple tweet. That's why I didn't post ANYTHING about this to twitter. The format of the website leads to forced summation which leads to a MASSIVE loss of information, which leads into misinformation.
If you have to learn ANYTHING from this little blip in the drama radar, this is how you stay afloat as the OP:
State the inciting incident objectively
State a summation of your feelings, do not over-exaggerate. My youtube comment said "it stung a little"
Go into detail WHY you feel that way, pulling from external events is better than something only you have gone through is better
Do not demand action from the person you are addressing if it is not a big deal (someone's physical or mental wellbeing being on the line). Skizz not wanting to say 'trans rights' was not a big deal at the end of the day to me.
Keep things level-headed, because the people trying to oppose you will try and goad a reaction out of you. Staying calm and cool and backing up your words with substance exposes them for the aggressor they are.
Do not try and demonize the person you are addressing if it was a slip up. They'll already be feeling bad regardless.
Follow Skizz's #1 rule: Be good, be good to each other.

get to know me!
I've been bestowed a tag from @imperatorrrrr ! 🥹 so now I'm on your dash hehe.
Do you make your bed?
Yes! Every single morning. It's really just rearranging my pillows and layering my blankets properly. I am entrenched in the routine.
Favourite number?
4. Perfectly even, perfectly square.
What's your job?
I'm a writer at my day job too, just less creatively inclined. I do a lot of technical writing, communications, and edit stuff like legal docs. I've read so many terms and conditions docs back to front lmao.
If you could go back to school, would you?
I already have! Halfway between my old job and new job I got an additional certificate.
Can you parallel park?
Yes, mostly because you need it to pass your driver's test where I live LOL. I don't use it often but I'm good at reverse parking so it kinda helps keep the skill fresh.
Do you think aliens are real?
100%. To quote Mr. Nico "I'd pragmatically approach the alien" Hischier, I'd be curious about them too.
Can you drive a manual car?
Absolutely not! BUT to echo imperatorrrrr it's kinda hot to watch someone who's good at it driving stick lmao
Guilty pleasure?
Garbage reality TV I can throw on in the background and just let it run. 90 day fiancé, selling sunset, selling the OC, singles inferno, things like that haha.
Tattoos?
More than 10!
Favourite colour?
Anything dark blue, dark green, or pastel pink.
Favourite type of music?
I will truly listen to anything at least once the only genre I haven't really enjoyed is opera. I lean more towards rock and metal rn. Just know that I edit all my fics to house music LOL idk what it is about that genre but it fucking slaps when I have to dial in.
Do you like puzzles?
I'm terrible at them but I like it.
Any phobias?
Trypophobia. I don't even know if I spelled it right but I am 2000% not gonna even risk checking.
Favourite childhood sport?
I was pretty sporty; I loved and still love figure skating, snowboarding, skiing, swimming, diving lol.
Do you talk to yourself?
Constantly. imo it's also literally the only way to guarantee your writing makes sense lololol I am always talking myself thru my writing at work and for fics.
Tea or coffee?
Tea in the mornings and coffee in the afternoons.
First thing you wanted to be when growing up?
A teacher, and then a journalist.
What movies do you adore?
The LOTR trilogy (of course), most studio ghibli films that came out before and including Howl's Moving Castle, the Matrix Trilogy, Pacific Rim, Anastasia, and sooo many more.
And that's me! I'm feeling shy today so this is just an open tag to anyone who follows me and comes across this - feel free to participate (and tag me after! so I can get to know all of you!) 🥰

you were no saint, that much was certain. god knows if your parents knew you were alone in a boys room with said boy theyd have your head on a stick.
especially if they knew that boy was jj maybank.
your parents werent bad people by any means, they knew not to judge someone based on things out of their control. but in their defense jj had made some questionable choices.
but that was part of his appeal. his charm was his impulsivity, his wit, his knack for excitement.
how he'd decided youd be good friends you have no idea but you couldnt be happier that he had.
or else you wouldnt be sitting in his bed at the chateau with him as he smoked a joint and watched whatever sit com you were currently binging together.
"can I ask you something?" he blurted out of nowhere, his eyes still trained on the small television screen.
your head whipped in his direction at his cautious tone, "shoot," you said curiously. why did he sound so worried?
had you done something wrong?
"whats that ring? on your pinky finger..." he motions with a nod of his head down to your hand that was sitting in your lap, "i know you said its a family thing. does it have a meaning or something?"
oh boy. i hate this talk.
"its uh... its a purity ring... my dad gave it to me at my confirmation last year," he almost choked on his own spit.
"a- a purity ring? i know you said you were religious but damn- i thought those were some kind of fallacy..."
"im so proud of you! you just used 'fallacy' correctly in a sentence!" you said with an exaggerated sense of excitement hoping to change the subject.
you hated being judged for your ring. you saw the looks from boys when they saw it, if they knew what it was. girls teasing you for being a prude.
when in reality it wasnt much of a choice. rationally, you know having sex wouldnt send you into the fiery pits of hell. rationally, you knew that in your faith, heaven was created for sinners who had earned forgiveness and preached love and prosperity and worshipped God. but irrationally... what if your parents were right? your faith was important to you, a key part of how you were raised. you didnt want to become a disappoint by giving into temptation.
but late at night when a certain blond snuck into your thoughts... you wanted to give in. badly.
"i wasnt judging you, i was just a lil shocked alright? i didnt know you were that serious about all that," hed held up his hands in defense trying to calm your nerves on the sensitive subject.
"honestly?" you turn to face him with a shameful look on your face, a pink hue covering your cheeks perfectly, "sometimes i dont think i am. or- that my values and beliefs dont really line up like that."
"what do you mean?"
"just that. i dont think purity matters THAT much ya know? and forgiveness is there for a reason. that having sex doesnt mean im not a good person. right?"
jj chuckled lowly, "mama if that were true id be considered down right satanic."
you couldnt hide your laughter after his comment either. hes just so infectious. clearly with the way thoughts of him had been invading your mind lately.
"its not just that- then the insecurity comes along with it, even if i changed my mind everyone already knows about it. no guy would ever wanna sleep with me. unless its some kind of weird kink thing and i dont think my religion should be fetishized-"
"are you kidding me?"
"um... no? im not really comfortable with that-"
"no- mama-" jj shook his head in his hands, "there are plenty of guys that would wanna sleep with you. not just for some creepy kink."
"name one," you said seriously. because seriously, who the fuck would wanna sleep with you? not a single person has ever shown real interest in you ever-
"me."
shut the fuck up. he said that so confidently?! hello?!
your eyes widen with shock, "p-pardon?!"
"i didnt stutter right? i said pretty clearly that i want to have sex with you-" you clamped a hand over jj's mouth instinctively. praying that john b hadnt heard his friends loud proclamation across the hall.
"i heard you the first time!" you whispered, your tone stern.
jjs eyes gestured to the hand on his mouth as if to say 'move please so i can speak'. part of you didnt want to move your hand, partially because of what he might say, and the other because touching him kinda felt nice. in anyway you could.
haphazardly, you decide to remove your hand from his face, your face still showing your disbelief.
"why are you so confused? you asked a question and i answered it-"
"because i- well i didnt expect that from you. and i dont need a pitty fuck if thats what youre trying to say because thats even more pathetic."
"okay none of that- no maam," jj interrupts me shaking his head, "im not gonna listen to you talk about yourself like youre completely undesirable. because thats so fucking unbelievable."
his face, on rare occasion, is utterly serious. oh my dear god he really did wanna sleep with me...
lord if this is a test i want to assure you this not a battle you wanna give me. im not your strongest soldier because i will fold faster than a lawn chair.
"youre serious??"
"do i look like im jokin? do i have a mic in my hands? is there an audiance i dont see? cause im not a fucking comedian. im being for real."
what are you supposed to do now? like actually? do you kiss him? no one prepared you for what to do in this situation.
"okay listen- you look pretty freaked out. im not saying we have to or anything im just saying... ive thought about it ya know? youre gorgeous and were close so i just thought maybe youve thought about it too."
well here goes nothing, "i have. thought about it i mean. a lot."
"oh really?" that made jjs brows quirk up and a smirk plaster across his face. he always has to be so smug, "is that so?"
"dont do that!"
"do what?" he questioned.
your cheeks flush in embarrassment, "make me feel like this is so easy. because it isnt."
"but it could be," jj pauses the tv before looking directly in your eyes, meaning business, "you just said that this is what you want right? im right here offering it to you so whats stopping you?"
you took a deep, shaky breath at his words. you really didnt wanna sound like a crazy person but being scared of sex was normal right? especially with your best friend of all people.
there were so many reasons not to do this.
"honestly? im scared. scared of what that would mean for us, scared of actually doing this. scared of... a lot of things. im a chicken. a big fat crazy chicken."
he couldnt help but laugh at your words. thinking 'what the fuck is she on?'
and part of him knew hed have to talk you off the ledge if you were gonna do this, but hes willing to work for it. work for you.
"mama listen to me. we can be whatever the hell you want us to be, youre my girl whether we're just friends or my head is between your legs. and as for the other part- id never ever hurt you m'kay? if you wanna do this i promise id go as slow as you want. you set the pace, ill be gentle. but im not trynna make you do this."
oh my god jj maybank just gave you 'the speech'.
and youre sitting here with all of your clothes still on.
"and lets say i do... wanna do this... you really want this? like this isnt out of pity or curiosity or anything?"
"maybe im not making myself clear. y/n. i wanna have any and every part of you that you'll let me."
holy shit okay... yeah okay. this is really happening.
you try to scramble for the words caught in your throat, "okay.. h-how do i do this? what if i do it bad?"
"youre not gonna 'do it bad'," he chuckles through his words, one of his hands sliding onto your thigh, "look ill guide you through it okay? we'll go slow... i promise."
"that sounds...nice."
"i sure hope so," he chuckled softly, "otherwise we wouldnt be doing it... and if you wanna stop just tell me okay?
all you could was nod and watch as he moved so he was hovering over you and you were laid flat against his bed.
"i need to hear you say it mama..." his face was so close to yours you could barely muddle up a whisper in response giving him a small 'yes' before finally feeling his lips press into yours.
it wasnt anything like you thought it would be. it was... gentle, sweet, tender in the most romantic way.
but you could tell he was holding back...
your hands found the nape of his neck and quickly pulled him closer, needing more of him. wanting him to show you what its really like, not some pussy foot version.
his lips travelled further down to your jaw... to your neck... to your collar bone...
"can i take this off?" there was a small tug at the hem of your shirt, his eyes pleading with you, begging even.
you sat up almost immediately, helping him pull it over your head, and just like that his eyes were glued to your chest.
the pink on your cheeks intensified to a red at the sight, at first you were thinking of the worst case scenario. that hed changed his mind, the they didnt look right, that you werent as appealing as hed assured you.
his hands instinctively reached out but he stopped himself, unsure if he was moving too fast, doing too much.
"gorgeous..." his eyes were wide with excitement, raw and unfiltered. the inside of his mouth salivating at the sight of your braless body. "can i touch you? please god- ill pray if it means i can."
the laugh that escaped you was just as unashamed as his pleas, "yea. yea jay you can touch me," you wanted laugh more. aware that hes being considerate of your feelings but it was almost stupid how badly you wanted this.
he quickly pulled his shirt over his head before diving back in to kiss you, his hands gently kneading at your breasts. you were a bit disappointed you didnt get to ogle at him like he had you, but youd seen him without a shirt enough times at the beach to satisfy curiosity.
"jj-"
his head whipped up so fast from trailing gently little kisses across the swell of your breasts, a worried expression crossing his face. "you okay baby? need me to stop?"
"no- no i just... you can keep going. i need more. i need you..." your breathing was heavy as were your eyes.
"you sure? im just trynna go slow and make sure youre okay. wanna take care of ya."
"im okay jj... i promise. this is what i want," you meant what you said too. there isnt anyone else youd want to do this with.
he gave me a look, once more chance to back out, before letting a deep rooted sigh out. sounded more like relief than anything.
his fingers hooked into the belt loops of your shorts giving them a firm pull, "these need to go. now."
and he didnt have to tell you twice, within seconds they were unbuttoned and being pulled past your knees and being thrown across the room with abandon.
the giggle that escaped your throat was involuntary as jj pulled you buy your ankles further down the bed so the back of your knees were hanging off the edge of the bed.
"jj! what are you doing??"
"m gonna eat, fucking starving. now spread your legs f’me. wanna see that pretty pink pussy," jj knelt to the ground, threw my legs over his shoulders with urgency, looking down and admiring the view before him. “you’re so fucking perfect…”
you didn’t think someone just talking to you could elicit a moan from you, however jj was always there to challenge you. like right now.
he was peppering small kisses down the inside of your thighs, along the curves of your hips, avoiding where you need him most trying to make you feel appreciated.
he’s doing a good job too.
his thumb gently glides over your sensitive clit with a featherlight touch making me shake with need, the other hand holding your hips against the mattress as you feel his lips finally capture your core and his tongue starts lapping at the bundle of nerves.
your hand flies to his hair gripping it tightly between your fingers eliciting a groan that vibrates through you as his tongue continues to skillfully pull every sound from you and send shocks through your body
theres a feeling of something toying with your entrance delicately, looking down to see him staring up at you with a needy, hungry look in his eyes. you gasp at the feeling, your eyes widening with a nervousness and desperation.
"'s just my finger baby, relax. it wont hurt i promise," he tried to reassure you gently as you nodded.
"feels good... keep going. please."
"yes maam," he smirks up at you before diving back into your slick folds, simultaneously ever-so gently pushing his finger into you beneath his chin.
was it normal to feel so full from just a finger?
holy shit what is it gonna feel like when hes actually inside you??
you tried your best not to think about it to avoid psyching yourself out and just trying to enjoy the feeling. your walls flutter around him and he can feel how close you are already with his finger pumping in and out of you painfully slow as he curls it inside of you.
his face his practically dripping with you when he looks back up at you, "hows it feel mama? talk to me."
your face is scrunched in pleasure as you shake your head quickly, your hands back to gripping the cotton sheets beneath you, "cant," you answer bluntly, out of breath as his finger works your mercilessly. it was the honest truth, the feeling making it hard to think straight, or at all really.
"oh cmon now i believe in you. tell me how good it feels... think you can handle another? youre so close gorgeous, let me help you get there..."
you practically squeal as he presses the second digit into you, the stretch a delicious sting that borders on uncomfortable. but the slickness greatly helps with the discomfort easing it almost instantly as jj keeps his pace consistent, your hips bucking off of the bed as you come apart on his fingers, your juices dripping onto his palm.
"holy shit mama that was so fucking hot... youre so tight," he presses small gentle kisses down your thighs as he talks you through your first orgasm. his forehead resting on your hip as he gathers himself.
it feels like the lack of oxygen has made you dizzy and oddly relaxed from feeling so breathless.
jj maybank just made you come.
jj maybank just gave you your first orgasm.
oh lord am i gonna have to ask for your forgiveness until the day i die. i might die right here right now.
"pretty mama i need you to say something... kinda scaring me," you lift your head off of the pillows to look down where he lays on you, his fingers lightly tracing patterns across your stomach.
"sorry," you run a hand over your face taking a deep breath, "just kind of... i dont know. calming down."
god even his laugh made you quiver.
"we can take a break if you need it- do you want me to grab you a water or someth-" you quickly shut him up by leaning down to kiss him
"i wanna keep going.. jj that was... eye rolling, moan eliciting, mind boggling-ly good. im okay i promise."
"youre killing me here baby-" he looked up at you as his hands roamed your body slowly and aimlessly. feeling comfortable in such a vulnerable state with her. "are you sure?"
you lean to the side diving into the drawer next to his bed where you figured hed have a condom lying around, you guessed correctly.
"stop asking me that, i know youre trying to be sweet but i already told you i want this. im not changing my mind. im not on birth control for obvious reason but-"
a groan from his lips interrupts you, the sound more like a struggled, suppressed moan. his head falling into the crook of your neck. looks like someone has a breeding kink. shouldve guessed it by that nickname.
"ill do whatever you want mama but youre literally naked holding my condom in your hand. im losing self control quickly."
you giggled softly, "youre okay with just the condom?"
"im okay with or without it. god, ill be perfect as long as im inside you."
it was your turn to moan this time as he takes the foil from you, ripping it open between his stupidly cute canine teeth, grinning from ear to ear as he rolls it on almost effortlessly.
watching him you realize it was the first time you could really drink in the sight of him... and how big he was.
"jj- i dont think-" you go to protest before he kisses you softly. so fucking soft for you in every way except for one.
"we'll make it fit," thats the only thing he says before he positions his body to loom over you, your hips meeting each other. his eyes light up and he reaches behind you grabbing an extra pillow. "lift your hips for me baby... good girl."
he adjusts the pillow under your hips comfortably, his hands gripping your hips to lower you then running down your legs to wrap them around his hips.
"i read somewhere that makes it better- for you. i dont know im not a chick. does it feel okay? are you okay?"
you could melt from his words, jj wasnt always great with telling people how he felt but he does one better. he shows them, shows you. always thinking of you and your wellbeing.
"its perfect jay, thank you," you smile up softly at him, "youre perfect."
the blond blushed at your words, placing one hand next to your head so he leans over you to whisper in your ear, probably to also hide how flustered that made him.
"ill go slow i promise... its gonna hurt a little but ill stop when you need me to. and if you wanna stop all together thats okay. youre in control baby. 'm at your mercy."
your hand reaches for stability, finding it tugging at the roots of his blond mop as his hand reaches between the both of you to align him at your entrance. the folds still slick from just moments ago.
hes pressing soft wet kisses to your neck, moving his hips forward just the smallest bit so his tip barely pierces your hole. you suck in sharply as you feel him, feel the pressure, the sting.
your gasp must have scared him, he lifts himself from you to look down at you with concern.
"you okay mama?"
all you can do is nod in response trying to keep your breathing steady. frankly, you didnt think youd be this tight. obviously hes not the size of your ultra big tampons but still. you were a bit naive.
"just let me know if you need me to stop... but you gotta relax or it wont fit. trust me, ill go easy on you but you gotta breathe babe. let yourself relax... im right here."
you nodded again, maybe it was lame but you were so focused on how he felt against you, you could barely speak.
taking another deep breathe you urge his hips forward with your ankles wrapped around them, and the sting intensifies as his tip finally goes inside of you, and you were already clenching around him.
hard enough that his arms wobbled for a slight second.
"shit mama, youre so fucking tight," he sighs in ecstasy, "jesus- stop clenching around me or ill blow like a two pump chump."
that got a chuckle out of you, even though he was completely serious. the sting goes away slowly, and you press kisses down his neck to calm yourself. you wanted your lips on every inch of his body.
"keep going," you begged, your voice abnormally high and breathy.
"there you go baby, made it through the hardest part. see? its not so bad... im right here baby."
he moves his hips forward again, and you felt another inch push into you. god how did you already feel so full?
and then another inch. and another.
how fucking big is he?
"jesus jj- so full... 's too much-" you whine, your hands clinging onto his shoulders, your polished nails pressing into his skin.
"need me to stop?"
you thought for a moment before shaking your head, "no.. need more. feels so good."
and with that he pushed himself all the way to hilt, fully pressed inside your sopping wet cunt. you moan loudly, forgetting john b is just down the hall in the living room.
jj presses his lips to yours, capturing them so your tongues meet in the middle, making every thought poof from your head. youve dreamed of this moment so many times and you know youre lucky that the first time feels just as good as the fantasy, if not better.
"move, jay i need you to move... please for the love god move your hips."
he moaned into your ear before pulling back and push back into you, again and again, setting a steady pace that was safe for the both of you. safe for you because he didnt want to hurt you, and safe for him because he didnt want to come in the next two minutes.
with your head thrown back on the bed, jj begins pressing kisses across your jaw, down your neck, focusing on the sweet spots he found before. making his way down to your collar bone, your chest rising and falling drastically as he continues to pump in and out of your swollen pussy.
and finally he makes it to your breasts, beautiful and full and ready for some attention, hips lips latch around one nipple while his free hand rolls the other between his fingers teasingly.
"so fucking perfect, so fucking mine," he grumbled against your chest before switching places. he pulls off of you with a pop, a sudden idea popping into his head.
his hips fastening their pace as he looks down at the ring on your finger, before taking your hand in his, and pulling that purity ring off.
your eyes widen as you watch him carefully, watching to see what he will do as he inspects it. or at least trying to as his hips slam into yours.
he takes his necklace off, and hooking the ring onto the string before tying it back onto his neck and leaning forward back the way he was. hovering over you, and now your purity ring, thats no longer needed, dangles in front of you like a taunt.
"dont need that," he whispers in your ear quickening his pace as he feels you clenching around him, so fucking wet for him you can hear the pornographic sounds of wet skin slapping against each other. only adding fuel to your fire, "wear it so everyone knows who you fucking belong to. youre mine, y/n. say it."
oh god.
"yours," you can barely speak without moaning, "yours jay."
he slips a hand between you, his thumb working your clit perfectly as he pounds into you pushing you to the edge of another orgasm.
"yea. youre mine? coming around my cock baby, youre squeezin me to death, you gonna cover me in your cum? yea?"
you squeal at the feeling, his words, everything, this is so perfectly overwhelming. you moan, almost scream, coming again just like he said.
and hes not far behind you, driving into you before you feel him twitch inside of you, spilling into the condom shuddering around you, trying not to collapse on you.
"holy-"
"shit," you chuckle finishing his though as another ripple passes through his muscles, he pulls out and you instantly feel empty, squeezing to find something that isnt there anymore.
he lays next to you with a very satisfied smile on his face.
more like a smirk really.
"ill be damned," you smile deliriously, turning to look at him, "jj that was... i couldnt have had a better first experience. seriously..."
"glad you enjoyed it mama," he wraps an arm around you pulling him into a chest as he starts to breathe normally, his heartbeat still racing though. "you okay?"
"im perfect jay... i loved it."
"well id be happy to be of service whenever youd like-" he teases.
you slap at his chest playfully, moving to wrap a leg around his before realizing how sore you were. and soaked. he sits up almost immediately seeing your hesitation.
"let me get something to clean you up..." he grabs his boxers pulling them back on to grab a warm wet cloth from the bathroom, crouching to clean you carefully and gently.
girls at school werent lying, aftercare was arguably the best part.
he treated you with such care and so much love that it didnt matter whatever anxiety you carried from what just transpired, you were happy you did it. even if it was with your best friend.

Spencer Reid x BAU!Reader
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WC: 7.3K
Summary: After recently joining the team, you and Spencer could never get along. What started off as you two ignoring each other turned into bickering at work. What happens when a stressful moment for you turns into an opportunity to get to know this fascinating coworker of yours?
tags: enemies to lovers, fluff, brief mentions of crime/murder at the beginning (talking about cases/kidnapping), reader is shy and anxious, reader looks young for her age. (reader might be female but i don’t think i specified)
A/N: I haven’t written anything in years and I’ve been on a criminal minds kick for a while. I had this idea loosely based off a prompt I saw on cai by (ApolloTheBoykisser) so thanks babes ;) also for once I had a fic of mine beta read lol my bestie beta read this for me. This is also posted on my AO3 page.
You had been working at the BAU for the last few weeks. You tried to get to know most of your coworkers and it seemed like you were making great progress. You had heard a lot about the team before you joined and were pretty intimidated by them at first. Okay- you were still pretty intimidated by them. But you pushed through your quiet exterior little by little and slowly but surely tried to get to know them.
All except for Spencer Reid. It seemed like he was trying to avoid you. He was always very quiet and would barely talk to you. Being a shy person yourself, you thought maybe he was just shy or a quiet guy. However, he continued to ignore you except for when he had to acknowledge you for work.
His coldness towards you was increasingly annoying as time went on, and your perception of him had slowly warped. The things about him you once found endearing, you now forced yourself to hate about him. If he rambled for too long, it could potentially make your blood boil. However, you could never stop paying attention to when he rambled on about facts or statistics. You didn’t want to admit it, but you found him fascinating.
It didn’t take that long for him to start acknowledging you, but this soon turned into the two of you bickering like children. When you were discussing cases or profiles, you both would argue over motives, victimology, crime scenes- literally anything about the case- you two could turn it into an opportunity to contradict the other. You both still kept a level of professionalism to not let your rivalry affect your job.
But there was always this tension between the two of you when you were in close quarters for too long.
And at some point you both reached your boiling point.
Last week, while the team was on a case, you and Spencer had gotten into a little spat once again. This time it went beyond the slight bickering or contraction. In the middle of the local precinct, you two were at each other's throats.
“What was that?” You asked after you and Spencer left the interview room that held a victims family.
“I was working off of the profile . . .”
“You mean the profile we haven’t finished?” You interrupted. “The one we are still currently working on and have yet to disclose?”
“That doesn’t mean we can’t work off of the information we already have,” he objected.
“You told her information we are still unsure about. We don’t know for a fact how long he keeps them alive,” you accused while placing your hands on your hips, trying to conceal your frustration but failing.
“Guys.” Someone tried to tone things down. Neither of you heard who and you weren’t backing down.
“If I remember correctly, I heard you discussing this very subject and inputting your thoughts  . . .”
“You still shouldn’t have told her! Especially when you don’t know for sure if her daughter could be alive,” you seethed stepping closer.
“Would you rather me hide everything from the mother who’s suffering from the disappearance of her daughter?” He asked, matching your tone and taking a step forward.
“I didn’t say that!”
“It sure sounded like it.”
“Reid. Y/N.” The two of you turned your heads to your boss like two deer caught in headlights.
“With me, now.” Hotch demanded and led you to an empty interview room.
You could tell how angry he was- despite the fact that his stoic face represented almost every emotion in the book. But by the tone of his voice, you knew you and Spencer had messed up.
“You two do not only represent this team, you represent the bureau. These cops are already not pleased with the idea of their boss calling us in and I do not need you arguing in front of them and giving them a reason to take us off this case. You must learn to respect and cooperate with one another or I will take you both off this case. Do I make myself clear?” He lectured.
You both replied with a monotone “yes.”
“Good”
Ever since your argument, you both had been relatively quiet towards one another. Like it had been in the beginning when you were ignoring each other. But that didn’t stop you from letting him invade your mind at every waking minute. It almost saddened you in a way there was no more bickering or quick remarks with him. With how much it annoyed you, you never thought you would miss it.
The team had just finished a case and before everyone packed up and went home, Rossi announced that tomorrow everyone should come over for a little ‘get our minds off work’ get together. Your coworkers all thought it was a great idea to relax after the last few very stressful cases.
As excited as you were to finally go to one of Rossi’s house parties, you were also scared shitless. Parties with relatively new people in your life were hard. You were so quiet around new people and were scared to approach others; you often waited to be approached. To you, being a profiler was easier than having a social life.
But, maybe this time would be different. There’s not that many people on the team and you’d already started to familiarize yourself with them.
The next day, you were pulling up to Rossi’s house. If there was anything else to be intimidated by with this man- besides his years of experience in the BAU- it was this giant house. You were greeted by the man himself at his front door.
“Y/N, glad you could make it.” He opened the door and welcomed you in.
He led you inside to where everyone else was gathered. Everyone was cheery at your arrival. Penelope with her clicky heels ran up to you and greeted you with a hug. It was refreshing to be around people who were so welcoming. It made it a little bit easier to really let your walls down.
Well, almost everyone. Spencer gave you a small wave from where he stood.
The night continued on and you would occasionally engage in conversation with the team. At this point, you were off to the side- standing in the kitchen and occasionally sipping some wine that Rossi had been bragging about and was just so excited for everyone to try. You were a bit too overwhelmed to go back to talking. The music was getting a bit loud and the lights seemed to be too bright. You opted for sitting on the barstool next to the counter and observing everyone around.
They were all off in small groups or pairs around the house. All except for you and Spencer. He was another outlier and standing away from all the commotion. You looked over in his direction and he caught your eye. You both glared at each other and you quickly averted your gaze away from him. Your thoughts started to race and you began playing with your hair.
After a moment, he glanced over in your direction again when you weren’t looking. He was unintentionally profiling you and noticed you getting overstimulated. Your eyes laser focused like you zoned out, your foot tapping against the chair, and your hand anxiously playing with your hair.
While he wasn’t exactly your friend, he did understand what it felt like when social gatherings got overwhelming. He made his way over to you, careful not to make you more nervous or uncomfortable.
“You okay?” He asked you. You were pulled away from spacing out. His voice sounded a bit concerned- which took you by surprise. You were partially relieved someone approached you to help bring you back down to earth. That someone noticed something was off. What confused you was the fact that person was Spencer.
“I’m fine.”
He was well aware of what it meant when someone was “fine” and you were clearly not fine. He felt bad that you were so quick to shut down his attempt to check on you. After all, it was his fault and he knew that.
“Do you wanna step outside?” He asked.
You were conflicted. You didn’t want to be outside alone with him, but at the same time, you needed some time away from everything. Maybe it would help calm your nerves.
“Maybe for a bit.”
You followed him outside onto the back patio. You took note of the fresh air and the muffled sounds from inside. It all felt like a weight lifted off your shoulders. Pretty soon though, you realized how awkward it was to be outside alone with him.
Spencer cleared his throat and spoke to break the silence, “Sometimes these parties can be . . . a lot.”
“A little bit. I was doing fine for a while but I think my social battery is running low.” You confessed to explain your discomfort.
“Yeah” he replied. He appreciated the fact that you felt comfortable enough to express this with him. He tried to relate to you. “It’s the same with me. Sometimes I just need a moment to collect myself.”
“Exactly.” You were relieved to hear that he felt the same way. “Plus it doesn’t help that I'm so new to the team.” You crossed your arms and slightly closed yourself off.
“I was the same way when I first joined.” He told her to try and ease your concerns. You were just like him at some point. The new guy and just trying to figure out how you fit in.
“It’s difficult at first, but you settle down after a bit. Once you get to know everyone.”
“Yeah it’s just the whole getting to know them part is a bit . . .” You abruptly stopped, hesitating to reveal too much to him.
“A bit what?”
“Intimidating,” you confessed, avoiding his eyes.
He obviously noticed your hesitance and avoided his usual behavior with you. You were always so strong and quick to banter with him. But now you seemed vulnerable, and he didn’t want to take advantage of that.
“It’s not just you, I promise.” He was being honest. This was the calmest and most genuine conversation the two of you had ever had. “I find them all pretty intimidating.”
Your eyebrows raised at his confession. How could he possibly be intimidated by these people?
“Really? But you’ve known them for so long. You all are so close.”
“Close doesn’t mean you can’t be a little intimidated,” he replied. It might not make much sense, but it was the truth.
“I mean Hotch is always stonewall and silent, no matter what you say to him. And don’t even get me started on Morgan.” He joked, knowing you would understand.
You lightly chuckled at his joke. “I get what you mean.” You were starting to understand him more. You thought it was ironic that one of the team members you were first intimidated by was also intimidated by the team. Now he was starting to seem less intimidating or annoying and more approachable. You kinda liked seeing this new side of Spencer.
“I guess I’ve always been like that. Worried to get to know people or open up.” You weren’t entirely sure why you were telling him this, but you knew he would understand.
"I think when you're afraid of being hurt or judged or misunderstood by people, you try to keep your guard up." He told you, speaking from experience. From a young age until now, he's always felt misunderstood.
"And I think...maybe that's why you're on edge with me? You're not sure what to expect from me."
“Are you profiling me?” You asked jokingly. Spencer however thought you were serious and you noticed him tense up.
“I’m kidding.” Your expression softened to let him know you weren’t actually accusing him of profiling you. “I’m gonna be completely honest, I’ve been on edge with you cause I thought you didn’t like me.”
He was a bit taken off guard by your statement. But at the same time, he couldn't deny it. He didn't dislike you now, but at first, he wasn't exactly fond of you. And now he was ashamed of that.
"I didn't like you." He admitted. "I thought you were pretentious, too eager to be accepted. I think I saw you as competition."
Spencer’s comment did sting. It was never sunshine and rainbows to hear someone doesn't like you. However, you did take note of his language. He said “didn’t,” “thought” and “saw,” all past tense. Does this mean he doesn’t dislike you now? What you did appreciate was his reciprocated honesty. You both were making some progress in your relationship and you wanted to continue it.
“I was eager to be accepted. I wanted to feel like I belonged.”
“I know how you feel.” He expressed his sympathy. “I regret not giving you a chance. You’re not like I thought you were.” He also appreciated seeing this different side of you.
“You’re not like I thought you were.” You admitted.
A little smirk tugs at his lips, “So I’m not as pretentious and selfish as you thought?”
You lightly chucked, “I never thought you were selfish, but I did think you were a ‘know-it-all’ and trying to show off.”
Spencer really didn’t want you to think he was a show off. Sure- he had a vast amount of knowledge, but he never wanted you to think he was bragging or that he knew better than you. “I do know a lot but I promise I’m not trying to show off. I just have all this information in my head and I want to share it with people or I’m really passionate about something and want to talk about it.”
You understood that feeling all too well. There were so many times you wanted to ramble on about things you cared about or had knowledge on, but for the most part just stayed quiet. Meanwhile, he didn't keep quiet. He would go on and on. And while almost everyone else was either rolling their eyes or trying to shut him up, you were listening intently. You didn’t want to admit it back then, but now you were feeling up to it.
“I will admit, while I did think of you as a know it all, I found a lot of your tangents interesting.” You admitted.
His eyebrows raised in surprise. He was so used to people dismissing him. It was nice to hear you often would listen. “Really? You didn't mind me babbling on?" He asked, relieved with your response.
"I mean, it is something I have trouble with. I tend to talk too much.”
“Oh Dr. Reid I am very familiar with rambling and being worried about talking too much.” You paused for a moment- considering how much more you wanted to share with him. “I know it may not seem like it because I’m always quiet around the team but.. once I get comfortable around people, I actually get very rambly”
"You do?" He asked, sounding surprised. “About what?”
“Really anything. Mostly things I’m passionate about like you. I’ll also tend to go on tangents about memories or just things happening in my life.”
You made your way to a bench on the patio as you spoke. Spencer followed and sat down on a chair adjacent to you. You brought your attention back to him and noticed his focused gaze on you and he quickly licked his lips, a habit you noticed he did all the time.
"You really are a lot like me. You're just quieter at first." He added, teasing you a little. While he was not one for social cues, he had the sudden urge to be bold and make a joke. "Maybe next time I see you rambling, I won't immediately contradict you."
You dramatically dropped your jaw and placed your hand over your heart. “Wow, you really know how to give a compliment,” you said, pretending to be offended.
He laughed with a bright grin. "I'm sorry. Let me rephrase. The fact that you're so silent and reserved makes it that much more thrilling when I find out how much of a chatterbox you actually are." He joked, being playful as before.
Your cheeky smile slightly falters for a moment. You hoped he wouldn’t notice but he did. “I think you won’t be so thrilled once I actually turn into a chatterbox around you.”
"Actually I think I would find it intriguing." He told you, looking directly into your eyes. "The quiet ones tend to be the most interesting and complex when they do end up talking."
“I’m not that interesting.”
“I beg to differ. You’re very interesting. Probably the most interesting person on the team.”
Did he really say that? Did he mean it? Or was he just being nice? You tried not to profile him, but couldn’t help it. His body language expressed he was being honest. Uncrossed legs and arms, open palms, eye contact. The only thing you didn’t notice when studying his body language was his dilated pupils.
“Thank you,” you smiled at his compliment, “I doubt I’m the most interesting though. You maybe, Mr. Three PHDs and can read 20,000 words per minute.”
He smiled back at you, “Just because I'm well educated doesn’t mean you can’t be as interesting as me, if not more.”
You couldn’t believe he was saying such nice things to you. This was the first time you guys were actually making some kind of connection.. and it felt wonderful.
“I still can’t believe we’ve known each other for this long but are just now talking. And by talking, I mean not getting into a spat after speaking for more than 3 minutes.” You confessed with a hint of playfulness in your voice at your joke.
“Yeah, I feel like I barely know you.”
“What would you like to know?” You asked.
He thought for a moment trying to think of a question to ask. You noticed once again that he licked his lips, trying to concentrate.
“Let’s start with something simple. What’s your favorite color?” He asked.
“Wow, I think that’s a bit too personal.” You said, voice laced with sarcasm. You tried your hardest to contain your amusement but started to smile. He smiled back at you. At first, he was always confused with sarcasm and social cues. To be honest, he still was. But he could just tell with you. He knew when you were joking and when you were being serious. He found your sense of humor amusing.
“Yellow.” You answered. “What’s yours?”
“Purple.” He replied.
You intended to leave it inside your head- but a quiet “huh” made it past your lips as an idea came into focus.
“What? Is it my choice for my favorite color?” He tried to joke with you but was also a little bit serious.
“Oh no, it's just I thought it was interesting because those are complementary colors. You know how they are opposite on the color wheel?” You asked even though you figured he knew.
He nodded his head, “Yes! Because they are on opposite ends of the color wheel, when they’re used together it creates a vibrant contrast and enhances visual appeal. The two colors almost balance each other out and support each other's intensity. Complimentary colors are a key component to color theory.” He suddenly noticed how long he was talking and his posture stiffened. He pressed his lips into a thin line and avoided eye contact. “Told you I talk too much.”
“And I told you that I find your rambling interesting.”
His head perked back up at you. You genuinely wanted to listen to him. It was refreshing to talk to someone that didn’t cut him off or zone out.
“That’s kinda like us though, don’t you think?”
“What’s like us?” He asked confused, still thinking about the fact that you actually enjoy listening to what he has to say.
“How our favorite colors are complimentary colors. Like you said, they support each other's intensity. When you first see them they’re opposites, but the more you look the more they compliment each other.”
He softly smiles. “That does sound like us. The more we learn about each other, the more we find we have in common.”
There was a short pause where you both considered his statement. You did want to know more about him. You wanted to know all of him.
“Can I ask you a question this time?”
“Of course.”
“So, you're always reading. Like everywhere you go, you carry a book with you. I wanna know: what’s a book you could read over and over again and never get tired of?” You wanted to know beyond his favorite color. You wanted to get to the various  building blocks that made him the way he was.
Spencer considered your question for a moment. Trying to go through the near infinite list of books he’s read in his life. You could tell he was concentrating on his answer because licked his lips. “Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.”
“Is he one of your favorite authors?”
“Yes.” He said almost immediately, confident in his answer.
“How come you like that book so much?” You asked.
You could see this sort of spark enter his eyes the more you asked about it. Giving him the chance to share his passions. ”Oliver Twist was one of the first books that used satire to deliver social commentary. Particularly in this book the social commentary was aimed at poverty in 19th century England. The book also quickly gained attention after its publication due to the scandalous subject matter in which crimes, such as murder, were depicted in detail.”
Spencer finally stopped rambling and almost looked as if he caught his breath from the endless talking. But what he was met with was your undivided attention.
”That sounds really interesting, maybe one day I should give it a read.” You say with a soft smile.
“You should,” he matched your smile, but it seemed a bit more sheepish due to his brief tangent. “Have you ever read Charles Dickens before?”
You shook your head in response. “I’ve never read anything by him. I actually don’t read much. But I used to in high school.” You revealed.
“What have you read?” He asked. He leaned slightly forward and unconsciously mirrored your body language and placed his right hand on his leg like you did yours.
“Pretty much the same books everyone else had to read for school.” You paused and tapped your fingers trying to refresh your memory.
“To Kill A Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, 1984, um.. a few Shakespeare books.” You answered with the few books you could remember.
“Which one did you like the most?”
“I’m not sure”, you sighed and thought about his question, wanting to give him a genuine answer. “Maybe.. Macbeth. I remember finding the story interesting and I did a group project on Macbeth and Lady Macbeth's descent into madness. Like the scene where she’s hallucinating the blood on her hands.”
Your voice started to pick up speed and volume ever so slightly. He could tell you were getting more passionate the more you spoke. Subtly displaying how you could ramble once you opened up to someone. He smiled as you continued, happy to see that you felt comfortable enough around him to let a hidden part of yourself out into the open.
“I guess that kinda explains why I wanted to be a profiler and learn about psychology and forensics. I was interested in how Lady Macbeth's guilt manifested and caused her delusions. I wanted to understand why people did the things they did.”
“I can tell, you have this curiosity. You want to understand. Know the ‘why’. He mentally recalled the times you would express your curiosity during work.
“Yeah, pretty much.”
He pressed his lips in a line. “Is it- is it my turn to ask you something now?” He stuttered slightly.
“I mean you don’t have to. It’s nobody’s ‘turn’ but you can if you want.”
“I do.” He replied immediately. The corners of your mouth perked up into a small smile. He mirrored you.
“I may be stealing your previous question. Like you said you don’t read much. But I have noticed you listen to music a lot. I want to know a song you could listen to over and over again.”
He was right, you often listen to music. Mostly on your way into work or on the jet, you would be wearing your signature headphones and have some playlist on. It was your own way of coping with the stress of your job. You looked down at the ground as you recalled the songs in your favorite playlist.
“Dreams by The Cranberries.” You brought your eyes back up to face him. But what you saw was confusion in Spencer’s eyes. He tried to hide it but you knew better. “Have you heard that song?”
He did that little sideways pout you often saw him doing when he was in awkward situations.
“I’m not sure,” he replied. Spencer broke eye contact, embarrassed he didn’t know something from pop culture.
“It’s okay. Remind me next time I have my headphones and I’ll show you.” You spoke calmly to reassure him there was nothing to be embarrassed about.
He brought his attention back to you. Relieved to hear your gesture instead of a quip about his lack of pop culture knowledge like he was used to.
“I will.”
“Alright my turn.” You shifted your weight and brought your legs up to your side so your whole body could face him. “Um, it's kind of a personal question though. I’m curious about something.”
“Go ahead. What is it?” He asked, giving you his whole undivided attention.
“Does it ever bother you when people question your age when you say how educated you are?”
He was somewhat thrown off by your question, but something told him you've wanted to ask him this for a while.
He furrowed his eyebrows, “I wouldn’t say it bothers me. Considering I have had such an extensive education so early in my life, it’s completely understandable that someone would question how I did it at a young age.”
“Hmm,” you hummed in response. He knew that wasn’t the answer you were looking for.
“Can I ask you something personal?” He asked before asking his real question. He appreciated your concerns about potentially pushing a boundary and he reciprocated it. He didn’t want to break this newfound friendship- if he could call it that- by making you uncomfortable.
You nodded your head, silently telling him it was okay.
He slightly fidgeted with his hands. “Did you ask me that because people question your age?”
“Yes,” you answered hesitantly. “I’ve never looked my age.”
He thought about his next question before asking. “I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, I’m just trying to understand. Why does that bother you?”
“It bothers me when people don’t take me seriously. I mean I’m in my late 20s and some people still think I look fresh out of college. It hasn’t happened as often since I joined the BAU but so many people in law enforcement don’t take me seriously. People tend to think I’m too innocent to have a job like this.” You confessed to him as you avoided looking him in the eyes.
"I wouldn't say you're innocent.” His comment brought your eyes back to him.
“But you do have a soft demeanor. It makes you approachable. If anything, those qualities are an incredible asset to this job whether it be when you're speaking to victims or their family members.”
Even though he would often throw snarky retorts to you in the past and try to get under your skin, he always admired how good you were at your job. Of course, you were an amazing profiler and had no trouble standing against dangerous unsubs. But the way you handled incredibly sensitive situations with such calmness and comfort with others was admirable. During cases with children, you were able to ease their worries and provide a safe space.
“While you are very sweet and shy, I would never call you innocent.”
“Thanks,” you smiled at his compliments. You felt understood hearing his affirmation. It also warmed your heart to hear that he thought so highly of you. Especially since the last few weeks, you thought he hated your guts. Although- his comment did make you more curious about how you were perceived. “Half the time I don’t realize how shy I am or how I present myself,” you weakly chuckled.
“There were actually a lot of ways to deduce that you're shy,” he matched your lighthearted tone but also kept a sense of seriousness to prove he was being genuine.
“Was it the fact that I was sitting by myself and scared to talk to them?” You half joked as you figured that’s what he was going to imply.
"That was part of it, yes. But besides that, it was the way you often avoid direct eye contact, and the tone of your voice. It's gentle and low, as if you're afraid of coming on too strong.” He was too caught up in his thoughts and observations to realize how much he was divulging. “You keep your distance and your words are always measured or not overly assertive. Almost like if you do come off assertive you will receive backlash."
When he met your eyes again, he noticed how frozen you were. On the outside you didn't reveal much, simply had a stoic expression. He knew you better than that. He knew that he had hit a nerve and started to panic that he went too far. He had finally wrecked this slowly growing friendship like he thought he would, by being himself.
“Wow, yeah that sounds pretty spot on,” you agreed. You sounded soft spoken and played with your hair again, of course without your knowledge.
“I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.” He abruptly spattered in a panic.
“No it’s okay really,” you interrupted trying to reassure him. “I just didn’t expect you to be so ... correct.”
He pressed his lips into a thin line, relieved he didn't mess things up, but still slightly worried he had left you feeling exposed. "I guess I'm just good at noticing things about people,” he shrugged.
“You forget, we get paid to notice things about people,” you joked with him, trying to make him feel better by lightening the situation. Of course, it worked.
"That's true." He chuckled and paused for a moment to consider. Then he continued with his profile of you.
"It's just the way your voice softens whenever you become uncomfortable, almost whispering or lowering in tone. Or your nervous habits, like when you play with your hair." It was a gesture he was pretty keen on catching.
You suddenly were very aware of the fact you were playing with your hair. You quickly dropped your hands and crossed your arms.
"It's not bad that you do that, you know,” his voice had a slight crack in it. “It's just something you do subconsciously." He told her, trying to be comforting.
“Do you wanna know something you do subconsciously?” You asked, your voice with a hint of teasing. You decided that if he was going to profile you, you were going to profile him back.
He noticed your tone and that you had gained a bit more confidence. "Sure, hit me." He said as he awaited your reply with curiosity and interest.
“You poke your tongue out a lot or lick your lips. Most of the time when you’re concentrating or lost in thought. Which means you definitely need to start using chapstick. I’ve seen you do it a lot since we’ve been out here.” You explained.
"So, are you telling me my lips are dry?" He replied playfully, his grin widening.
“They probably are,” you lightly laughed at the silliness of his question. He laughed along with you and subconsciously went to lick his lips again, but caught himself.
“I'm gonna be thinking about this so much more now,” he confessed.
“Consider it payback for pointing out how much I play with my hair when I'm anxious. I don’t know what to do with my hands now,” you remarked as you dramatically waved your hands in the air.
“Sorry,” he awkwardly apologized.
“I already told you it’s alright. You're not the only one who analyzes behavior. I’ve noticed plenty of things you do and why you do it.”
“Like what?” He furrowed his eyebrows, curious what particular things about him you had profiled. He noticed something though. The confidence you once had, had washed away after you collected your thoughts.
“I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” you stated.
"You won’t make me uncomfortable,” he responded almost immediately. “I promise. I really want to know.”
You took a deep breath before explaining your observations. “You desperately want to be heard. You love to share the endless knowledge you have, but when someone walks away or cuts you off your reaction is almost that of deflating. And when someone does show a bit of interest in what you have to say your voice perks up and almost cracks with excitement. Then you talk a lot faster, probably a mixture of excitement and as a way to keep the other person engaged and to not lose their attention.”
Spencer carefully listened to every word you said. Not a single deduction was false. You had read him like a book in the short time you knew him. You noticed something about him that most of the team couldn’t pick up on.
"You're right about everything,” he said with a soft tone. Almost everyone interrupted him, you never did. This got him thinking. Of course everyone on the team made observations about each other, they’re profilers of course. However, he wondered why you had made so many about him.
"Are you always this observant about everyone? And I mean everyone. Or is it just me that gets the special treatment?" He asked his last question with a hint of a teasing tone.
You scoffed, “yeah right, like you get special treatment.” You thought about your response, not wanting to reveal too much.
“I guess I might have paid attention to you because you were the only one who was so closed off to me. I wanted to know why. I wanted to know who you were even if you weren’t going to tell me.”
He was right, you were paying him special attention. The fact that you wanted to know who he was despite his closed off nature revealed enough.
“So you admit it, I get special treatment?" He cheekily asked.
“Oh shut up,” you retorted.
“Make me.”
Your lips pursed, holding back a smile.
Spencer noticed you were trying to hold back a smile and found it endearing. He also noticed something else about your reaction. You were blushing. You blushed as a result of his taunting. He got lost in the thought of you blushing from him.
“Something you wanna share with the class?” You teased.
He didn't want to admit it, not yet at least. He wanted to make you sweat just a little bit and get a reaction out of you.
"I'm curious about something. Could you tell me what would cause someone's cheeks to flush?" He tried to seem genuine but of course he came off with a hint of cheekiness.
You furrowed your eyebrows. You were completely oblivious to your red face and were confused by his random inquiry.
“Are you questioning my profiling skills?” You lightly scoffed, not knowing what his true intentions were.
"No, not exactly. I just want to know what you think.”
Your expression changed to one of confusion but also amusement. You decided to play along with his little game.
“Well psychologically blushing could mean a multitude of things. Embarrassment, stress, anxiety, attraction.” While your voice stayed consistent, he noticed the change in your breath and how your eyes darted away from him. It was a brief expression, but he caught it. He got the answer he was looking for.
"And which one of those can explain why you’re blushing?" He raised an eyebrow and smirked as he leaned closer to you.
Your stomach dropped and eyes widened. You shifted your weight in your seat and touched your cheeks. “I’m not blushing..” You ignored his question.
"You are.”
You sighed and stood up, “Well if I am it’s probably because you just pointed it out and I’m embarrassed.”
"Oh, really?" He taunted and followed you. "I think that you might be blushing for a different reason."
You bit your lip out of frustration and crossed your arms. “Are you profiling me Spencer?”
"Maybe I am,” he smirked. "I would say that maybe you've been so interested in me that you've been paying a lot of attention. That's why you took note of so many of my habits and behavior."
Your face got redder and you started playing with your hair again. You huffed, “I told you before, the reason I paid attention to you was because I didn’t know you.”
"Sure, but you pointed out how you kept noticing I licked my lips. Why were you looking at my lips in the first place?"
You were caught between a rock and a hard place. “Why are you so interested in why I’m blushing or looking at your dumb face anyway? Why do you care so much?” You asked defensively.
He couldn’t respond, he froze up.
“I mean, you question why I pay so much attention to you but here you are doing the same thing to me. Trying to read me like a book,” you accused.
He cleared his throat and stuffed his hands in his pockets. "I guess we're both curious about each other."
“I guess we are,” you responded. You saw his cheeks turn pink in reaction to your questioning. “Look who’s red now.”
If his face could even get redder, it did. For a man that could probably say a thousand words a minute, it seemed like none of them could fall from his lips.
It was your turn to smirk. “I can’t believe I’ve managed to leave you speechless. Never thought that would happen.”
"Shut up,” he sheepishly scoffed.
“Make me.”
Spencer felt his stomach flutter, he smiled bashfully at your mimicking his own teasing. The seconds passed and neither of you spoke, neither of you had words. Both of you in your own heads. In your head, you got a stroke of confidence. You didn't know where it came from, maybe the teasing, maybe the fact that you had him speechless. But you took it and ran with it.
”Maybe the reason you wanted to know why I was blushing so badly, is the same exact reason I was blushing,” you mumbled.
The realization hit him in waves. You just admitted to the very thing he was trying to get out of you in the first place. He was speechless once again, but this was different. He stared at you with a stunned look, not knowing what to do.
You took his blank expression as a negative reaction, thinking you came off too strong. You slowly backed away from him, regretting putting yourself out there.
“Sorry. I don’t know why I said that. Just forget it.” You turned around to go back inside but felt something on your wrist. You turned around and saw Spencer had grabbed your wrist to stop you. His eyes wide and breath heavy.
"No. Don’t,” he begged.
"Really?" You whispered softly.
He smiled, "yes. Please don't take it back."
You smiled back at him bashfully. Spencer’s reaction make your stomach do backflips, but it made you wonder.
"Can I ask, why did you pay such close attention to me?
He released his light grasp on your wrist and instead placed your hand in his. "I couldn't stop analyzing every single detail about you. I wanted to know you inside and out. There was something about you that felt intoxicating. After every time I spoke to you, even if it was just us bickering or arguing, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
He looked down at your joined hands and started to rub his thumb over your hand. You looked up at him and smiled, glancing at his lips. “Well you definitely must be thinking about something now, you licked your lips.”
He couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed. You made him feel like he was on full display, like he was a book that only you could read.
He slightly blushed at your comment. “I am. Can you guess what I'm thinking about?"
You grabbed his other hand with yours as a smirk grew on your face, “How close we are. How it’s probably driving you crazy..” You nearly whispered the last part as you leaned closer to him, “how I’m making you crazy..”
"You do.” Spencer wrapped one of his arms around your waist and placed his hand on the small of your back. A shiver ran down your spine as his hand touched your back. Of course, he could tell and was light headed by the effect you had on him. He’d never felt so intoxicated by someone before. “You’ve made me a mad man ever since I met you.”
Your heart was beating so fast it felt like it was going to burst out of your chest.
“What about you?” He asked. “Do I make you crazy?”
You glanced between his eyes and his lips.
“Yes..”
It was like you both were on the exact same wavelength. You both dove in at the same time and slammed your lips together. Both of you just so desperate to get a taste of the other. The kiss was tender and passionate, with no single person in control. You both moved together in synced motions. All of the arguments, all the tension that had been slowly building up could be released.
When you finally parted, Spencer rested his forehead against yours. You felt his airy breath as he tried to come back down to earth. You placed a hand on his face and stroked his cheek with your thumb.
“I’ve been wanting to do that for weeks,” he breathed.
“I can tell,” you chuckled. “what’s stopping you from doing it again?”
“Do you want me to?” He asked desperately.
You placed your other hand on the back of his neck, “I love hearing you talk.. but shut up and kiss me.
Before today he never liked the idea of you telling him what to do. But now, he was at your mercy. He didn’t hesitate and locked your lips with his once again. You both melted together like lovesick teenagers. But moments like these of course don’t last forever.
The sound of the patio door opening fell deaf on both your ears. It wasn’t until you heard Derek Morgan that you both pulled away from each other.
”What’s going on out here?” Derek questioned with a smirk.
You and Spencer couldn’t speak, too frozen to react.
His grin only grew, “My man,” he chuckled as he glanced at Spencer.
“Don’t kill each other while you're out here.”  Derek left the way he came and closed the patio door.
You sighed, “He’s gonna tell someone isn’t he?”
“Yup”
~
He made his way back to his coworkers with a cheeky grin plastered on his face. “What’s got you all happy?” Emily asked.
“Looks like our two angry birds are now two love birds,” he answered.
“What? What are you talking about?” Penelope sprinted over as fast as she could with her heels.
“How I just caught Reid and Y/N making out.”
The room exploded with chaos at the reactions to his news.
JJ, who was standing off to the side with Hotch, furrowed her eyebrows, “I thought they hated each other?”
Hotch glanced towards the patio door and saw the light shadow of two figures. “No they don't. Not really.”
just that — chwe hansol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: vernon x afab!reader
prompt: "are you guys dating?" or that one time you strongly denied your relationship and he got sulky(?)
a/n: another fic for my fave secret dating x brother's bestfriend trope >.<. this was initially posted on another site before i decided to take it down and let it sit on my drafts for a year lol.
Tumblr media
It was already two in the morning but you were still wide awake. With all the things you have done the whole day, it was expected that everyone, including you, would doze off as soon as you get on your beds. Unfortunately, you didn't.
The guilt that has been consuming you since earlier is what's actually making it hard for you to sleep. You had been rolling on the bed too many times as if that would help ease the regret you had been feeling (spoiler alert: it didn't).
When you arrived at your vacation house this morning, you and Vernon had tried to be as discreet with your relationship as possible. You going on a trip together wasn't a new sight, anyway. Vernon and your older brother, Wonwoo had been friends since freshmen year of college so the former is usually invited in times like this and so you both thought you could just let this three days pass without anyone knowing what you really have. However, it seemed like Wonwoo already had a hint about it and had been watching you the entire time. And alas! While you were having dinner, the million-dollar question was finally dropped.
"Are you guys dating?"
Vernon was about to answer but you suddenly panicked and was the one who replied instead, "Of course not. He is just like an older brother to me!"
As soon as you said it, you already wanted to take it back. But it was too late. Vernon may not have said a word but the disappointed look on his face spoke volumes. After that, you avoided each other for the rest of the night.
To be honest, this had been a subject of your arguments a couple of times before. Vernon wanted to tell your friends and families that you have been together for four months already but you're against it. It isn't because you were embarassed about your relationship or afraid that your family would say something negative (if anything, they're very very supportive). It's just that you wanted to enjoy the privacy you had without others minding your business, especially your brother Wonwoo who had been protective of you since your fallout with Joshua, even though it had been years and you have already moved on. He's also the reason why your past suitors had immediately scrammed away after going through the interrogation stage.
"Stop scaring them, will you?" You remembered complaining one time but your brother just shrugged.
"If they get scared of me and give up that easily then they're not really willing to fight for you. People like that are not worth it."
You knew you brother means well but sometimes you just want him to tone down the scare meter a little bit. Because if this continues, you might end up being single for the rest of his life.
But then, Vernon happened.
You already knew who Vernon was since he was a senior in high school. Vernon lives alone because the rest of his family is in another country. That's why when he gets a weekend off from the university, he would tag along with Wonwoo to your house to hang out. He is basically a part of your family now. However, the both of you didn't really got the chance to talk to each other because you were busy studying and usually just stays in your room the whole day when Vernon visits.
That set-up lasted for months until your first day in college. Wonwoo was supposed to give you the tour but had to cancel since he had to attend to something urgently. Of course, knowing you would whine about it nonstop, Wonwoo sent another person to guide you.
It's none other than *drum rolls please*, his best friend, Vernon. Surprise, surprise!
"Hi," that was just the first word that Vernon said to you (while sporting that smile that YOU swear would actually make anyone melt if possible), but you already knew you would fall for him. HARD.
You wouldn't admit it at first. The guy's nice (and freaking handsome and hot too) but you didn't want to give meaning to that kindness because you thought Vernon might just be doing it because you are his bestfriend's sister. However, it wasn't easy to supress the feelings when every time your eyes meet or when you smile at each other, butterflies would fill your stomach.
Not to mention, Vernon would also never forget to buy you your fave Iced Americano every chance he gets.
Luckily, it isn't a one-sided affection. Because apparently, Vernon is feeling the same towards you. The confession was nothing grand but for you, it was romantic and perfect.
It was in the middle of the crowd, during the Music Festival as your university's resident band was playing Enchanted by Taylor Swift, when Vernon looked at you directly in the eye and told you, "I like you so much y/n. I know this might be too sudden for you but I've been keeping this for a while and I just want to let it out. It's alright if you won't like me back ---"
"Shut up. I like you too," You replied while chuckling. You found Vernon blabbering cute because most of the time when you're together, you did the most talking and he would just agree and smile at you every now and then.
That was also the night that your relationship became official.
What followed was the happiest four months of your life. But now you're afraid that it would be cut short if you won't reconcile with Vernon as soon as possible.
You weren't able to take it anymore so you finally got up and carefully tiptoed as you went out of the room. You were just about to go to the next room but you heard a soft mumbling sound from the living room. That's when you realized that someone other than you were still up and is watching the television.
At first, you thought it was your brother but when you saw the brown hair peeking on the couch's headrest, it was a confirmation that it was him—your boyfriend.
Biting your lower lip, you walked towards Vernon who still haven't noticed that you were there. It didn't seem like he was focused to what he was watching, he was more like 'spacing out".
"Nonie?" You called softly and poked at Vernon's arm. The latter automatically looked up to you and blinked multiple times, probably making sure if you were really there or just his imagination.
"Why are you still awake?" Vernon reached for your hand and squeezed it lightly. You resisted yourself from crying because of how sweet your boyfriend is right now when he should be mad at you.
"I'm sorry about earlier," you said but Vernon shook his head.
"I should be the one saying sorry, babe. I told you I would respect your decision but I still acted up."
"But I know you're upset about it, Nonie."
"No. A little disappointed, I guess. I just don't want to hide anything anymore, especially our relationship. I don't want this to stay like a dirty secret because it's not."
You nodded and came over to sit on Vernon's lap. Your boyfriend was obviously taken aback but he just let you be eventually. He even encircled his arms in your waist to pull you closer.
"Okay. We'll tell them tomorrow."
Vernon's eyes widened. "Tomorrow?"
"Why are you so surprised?" You let out a laugh. "Are you still not ready?'
"Of course, I am. I've been preparing for it for months,"
"So you're not scared of Wonwoo-oppa?"
"As my friend, no. But as your brother, yes. I can even imagine him strangling me the second he finds about us."
You both knew that's far from Wonwoo's personality so he would most likely not do that but who knows? It could be worse.
"You'll be fine, Nonie. But if ever you get broken bones, don't worry, there's a nearby hospital, we can just--aw" you tried teasing him but Vernon was already pinching your nose before you could even finish your sentence.
"You're lucky I would do anything for you."
❀ diminished capacity.
Diminished capacity refers to an individual’s impossibility to form the intent necessary for committing any criminal act, because their capacity to fully comprehend the nature of their actions is impaired. It doesn’t, however, completely exclude their responsibility, and they may be held accountable to a lesser offense.
Argh… Monday.
Internship hunt was hell. There was no other way to spin that wheel. You knew it’d be incredibly hard, but not this hard.
Mondays were cursed days, but to know that not only cursed, they’d also start with terrible interviews — plural — was not in your bingo card for this week. Between  oh, you just started criminal law I this semester? and we will let you know laid the crumbling sounds of your utmost despair of knowing full well you were in for a ride for those next few days.
Well, if only daydreaming about him could save you.
It didn’t, though.
Unfortunately.
You arrived at the campus cafeteria where you were supposed to meet Nobara. Even on a fairly uncomfortable chair, she slouched nearly enough to slide down onto the ground like a rag doll, and it didn’t take you much to realize these past few days were throwing her through the wringer too.
“You look like death,” you joked as you pulled your chair to sit with her, putting your tuna sandwich and can of soda over the table.
“And you look like… like… hmph,” she scoffed while rolling her eyes and propping herself back up again.
“No snarky comeback? Are you that tired?”
“Leave me alone,” she replied, and apparently, she really wasn’t in the mood for playful banter. You took a bite out of your sandwich, pondering if you should ask her about it, but she beat you to it. “Why is getting internships this early in college is so damn hard?”
“Apparently, places don’t trust complete newbies or youngsters,” you noted, “and they want someone who has already studied all the necessary subjects prior to hiring. Also, people with prior experience are preferred.”
“Yet these are internship opportunities! Aren’t interns supposed to be newbies who are going to learn from the experience they’ll get through the internship?” Nobara irritatedly inquired, her implied commentary more a complaint than a question. You nodded.
“Absolutely. It makes no sense, it’s like they’re just trying to hire a junior lawyer with less rights and a lower pay rate,” you churned out through your mouthful of tuna and mayonnaise, “now that I think about it, it’s probably that, actually.”
“I can’t go back home! I mean, I made it all the way here. If I had to go back I would never get over this. I need some money, and I need some money soon, otherwise this will all just have been a waste of my time. I should just get a part time job already instead of insisting in starting my internship as fast as possible.”
Nobara covered her face, and she sounded genuinely upset. You paused your munching for a bit, and after washing it all down with a few gulps of soda, you leaned towards her, pulling her hands from her face.
“Hey, Nobara, we’re not letting that happen, okay? Neither me, Maki, Yuuji or Megumi.” you offered in an attempt to comfort her. She let you peel her palms away, and gazed at you in a mixture of frustration and anger, which softly subsided after your comment. You decided to push your luck, just a bit. “We can refugee you in Megumi’s car. We’ll get you a hammer so you can hit passerbies for shits and giggles to let some collegiate steam out.”
Consternated, she shook your hands off of her while you chuckled. She made her best effort to still look pissed, but you noticed a tiny smile forming on the edges of her mouth.
“That’s a shit plan, but I’ll take you up on that hammer offer,” she said, and you smiled at her, a gesture she finally reciprocated.
“I’d expect no less from you. So, tell me, in which area are you looking for internships? Fashion law?”
“Nope, entertainment.” Nobara picked your half eaten sandwich in her hands and took a bite before you could protest. “Maki had told me it was easier to get internships in entertainment law to garner some experience for a future in fashion law, but honestly? I’m skeptical now.”
“There might be some openings soon. Have you tried Professor Gojo’s firm? It’s the same as Professor Nanami’s, isn’t it? I mean, that giant firm with dozens of departments and that nearly every teacher at our college seems to work for.” You stretched your hand to get your sandwich back, but she slapped you away. “Hey!”
“I need it more than you, I’m sad!”
“I’m sad too! I had four terrible internship interviews today, give it back!”
You both entered a silly slapping match, and the few people walking past the table would look away nervously in fear of getting dragged into the middle of whatever war was going on over a cheap cafeteria tuna sandwich.
“You were having interviews today too?! How come you never told me?! I’m gonna eat your food for not telling me stuff, you’ve been weird ever since that party that you went off for a smoke and dipped!” She took another humongous bite and you jumped over the table, finally snatching whatever remained of your food out of her hands.
“I haven’t been weird!” you had, “and yes, I did. I am interviewing for internship openings in criminal law, but… well, you’ve been through that these days yourself. You know the drill.”
She grunted with tuna smeared around her mouth, trying to reach for the rest of your sandwich, and it was your turn to slap her.
“Stop it, Nobara. Quit being so stingy and buy one for yourself!”
“Not when I can eat your food for free,” she joked while taking a big gulp from your soda can, and you sighed, which only gave her a shit eating grin. “Did you interview for that spot they announced today?”
“What? What opening?”
“I just saw it, there was a new flyer on the main hall board. It’s an internship for criminal law, apparently under the guidance of Professor Geto,” Nobara said while shrugging. “Apparently the huge firm now has a criminal law department too. It was announced last week or so.”
“Did it say up until when they were taking applications?”
***
Each and every tendon in your body tensed as you sat with the perfect lady-like crossed ankles at the 45º angle under your second-hand suit. The meeting room was, for the lack of a better word, mighty, having an entire glass wall peering into the rest of the office, and towered over you high enough to have you feeling like a tiny speck of dust humbly drifting its way over the clearly expensive brown, leather couch. A few people walked by as you waited, and the mahogany table seemed big enough to fit three people. It was probably worth your entire year’s tuition, and you wondered if the ceiling height really needed to be tailored for elves. Or ents. Tree people, perhaps.
The firm’s name hung high right in front of you, the logo and letters made out of stainless steel illuminated by LEDs behind it. Opulence wasn’t a big enough word to describe that pompous display of corporate wealth.
You were fished out of your rags to riches daydreams by the pivoting door opening, figuring it was your interviewer for the position.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t the already well-known foxy-eyed, long haired Professor to come in, but a much more stoic individual with the polar opposite for a hair, not only in length but in color too. You already knew him from afar, as your commercial law Professor. He carried himself in a dignified manner, and upon further inspection, not only was his navy blue suit absolutely pristine, he also didn’t have a single hair strand out of place. You got up to greet him, bowing respectfully, and he returned the gesture.
“Good afternoon, Mrs.,” he said as he sat down on his chair across from you, “my name is Nanami Kento and I’ll be responsible for your interview today.”
You introduced yourself, and remarked, “apologies, but I thought Prof- I mean, Mr. Geto would be the one responsible for this interview today.”
 “As it stands currently, the criminal law department is my responsibility,” Nanami clarified, “so I decided I’d be the one responsible for interviewing our future team. I currently work in our corporate law department.”
You acquiesced with a professional smile. Something about how every tiny detail in him was on point gave you enough leads to conclude that of course this man took it upon himself to be the one responsible for the interviews.
“I’ve read in your resume that you are currently undertaking criminal law I and criminal procedure law I,” Nanami said as he held your resume in his hand, glancing at you and then at the paper, “which isn’t ideal for an intern entering a newly built department.”
Harsh enough?
You readjusted yourself on your chair before speaking.
“Yes, I am.”
He hummed quietly and pulled another paper sheet from his briefcase, and even if his facial expression was perfectly collected, something about how the edges of his lips curled gave away that he was less than happy about whatever was written on it.
“Our HR insisted I should bring this questionnaire with me today, so that I could ask you this list of questions as part of our interview,” he stated, his words followed by a quiet sigh. Nanami then proceeded to tilt the paper towards him and took a moment before proceeding. “Tell me more about yourself in three… captivating anecdotes.”
His voice sounded robotic, as if he was feigning not to loathe the question at hand, and deep down, you did find it amusing. Not enough to distract yourself from the fact that you were usually horrible at interviews altogether, though.
“I’m currently in my late twenties. I started law school last year, and worked during my early twenties to save money for tuition. I’m really passionate about criminal law, that is why I applied.”
Oh, God. What was that?
Well, you sounded robotic too, listing off obvious factualities as if providing a recipe’s ingredients. Both of you stared at each other in silence, wondering if that was what this question was supposed to infer, and it took the two of you so long to speak up again that it became uncomfortable.
Clearing his throat, Nanami unconsciously loosened his tie — barely — before continuing.
Well, at least I’m not the only one who’s uncomfortable.
“What…” he paused for a moment, and seemed to be biting down a discontented sigh, “animal would you be?” His gaze quickly darted down the sheet of paper, and his displeasure was palpable. For someone with such a straight face, his eyes were very telling.
What are these questions? Are we a hip tech company? Nanami thought to himself, wondering if he should make a new list to leave at HR. He was quick to discard the thought once he realized that meant he’d be telling other people how to do their jobs, something he did enough of already.
You didn’t quite know what the hell to answer.
“I… don’t know? I haven’t really thought about that in my life? A cat, perhaps?”
“I haven’t thought about that either, don’t worry, that’s unimportant. Let’s move on to the next question. How…” Nanami lifted an eyebrow, and that alone was enough to tell he was absolutely consternated, “many basketballs can fit inside a bus?”
“… Huh?”
Is this serious?
“I apologize, I believe there must have been some sort of mix-up at the HR, let me…”
Nanami was interrupted by three knocks on the glass wall. You both turned your heads to see Professor Gojo pointing at something — the paper Nanami held in his hands — while subsequently making a thumbs up, a wide grin smeared all over his face.
Without uttering a word nor missing a beat, Nanami got up, walked towards the glass and pulled on something you hadn’t yet noticed. Immediately, blinds slowly descended in front of the glass wall, and Nanami calmly walked his way back to his chair as Gojo’s face tried to keep peering inside the meeting room, descending alongside the rim of the blinds. He kept plastering his hands over the glass like a mimic.
A faint pained moan and a thud echoed once the blinds were about a foot away from reaching the floor.
“Is everything okay?” you inquired, pointing at Gojo’s direction.
“Ignore that.”
That wasn’t a request. You nodded.
“Yes, sir.”
“Perfect. Let’s also ignore this for a while,” Nanami remarked while putting the sheet of questions aside with his fingertips as if it was radioactive. “Let’s try something else.”
Nanami had this feeling — a familiar one — that he’d be able to pry from you what he needed to know if he went about this interview in a more practical fashion. It reminded him of someone, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
“I’m going to describe a hypothetical scenario, and I want you to debate it with me,” he stated.
“Okay.”
“A client comes to this office being investigated of homicide and he wants to hire the firm to represent them in Court. They intend to plead not guilty.” you nodded, and Nanami continued, “The victim was shot, but there was no gun to be found in the crime scene. However, the client was the only person in the vicinity apart from the victim’s body. The client’s clothes — a long sleeved shirt and jeans — are evidence that has been collected at the crime scene, but no forensics were requested for it by the prosecution. When questioned in their first meeting, the client is adamant that they did not commit the crime. The attorney needs to decide which path to take regarding evidence they’ll request or submit. Now, I ask you, which type of evidence would the attorney request if the client is truly innocent?”
You took a deep breath while mentally going over the hypothetical scenario Nanami had just relayed, and considering all he mentioned, there was only one possibility.
“If my client was truly innocent, I’d ask for forensic evidence on their clothes. Guns leave gunpowder vestiges on things like clothes, so if this person didn’t actually pull the trigger, there should be no gunpowder on their sleeves.”
Nanami acquiesced, but remained silent.
Ok, this is not the only thing he wants to know.
“Also… I’d tell exactly that to the client.”
Nanami’s face remained completely expressionless, but something about how he tilted his head less than an inch gave you the feeling that he seemed pleased with your answer.
“And why would you do that?”
“We need to work with accurate information. If the client was lying, and we submitted a request for that evidence — forensics on their clothes — we’d be tanking their defense. They need to know what we’ll be submitting as evidence and why. I believe telling that to our client would be enough to sway them into telling us the truth,” you sighed, before concluding, “people lie. Even when they shouldn’t.”
Nanami silently picked your resume back into his hands, and seemed to scan it quickly with his eyes. You knew your chances were slim, considering you had just started Criminal Law that very semester, something he didn’t fail to notice.
After a minute, he spoke again.
“Would you be willing to use some of your spare time to study topics you might not have seen yet in criminal law?”
“Yes.”
Your heart was thumping in your chest. This was it.
Here goes nothing.
“Then, it’s settled. Can you start on Monday?”
***
This wasn’t Higuruma’s usual go-to wish when he found himself behind the Passo’s wheel, but truth of the matter was, he hoped more than anything for his car to breakdown before he got to his destination. It wasn’t something completely out of the question considering his car’s track record, but as if some destiny’s mockery had been bestowed upon him that morning, even the clack-clack-clacks he was already used to hear for the past three months were gone. As Murphy’s Law would have it, the Passo glided over the asphalt like butter.
“Of course you won’t fail me when I need you to, you unreliable piece of-”he muttered to himself under a discontented huff.
Put upon wasn’t strong enough to convey how Higuruma was feeling, his knuckle-white grip around the steering wheel being enough to give him a sharp pain in his palms that would surely follow him for the next few hours. In a sense, he had been knuckle-white tense ever since that morning, thinking about this endeavor he was kicking himself to push through. It was the nth time he’d tried to make that visit over the past year, one that he dreaded with each and every fiber of his being.
The Professor eyed his passenger’s seat for a second, his gaze lingering on the plastic bag he carried with him that day. Inside, there were a bottle of Kirin, an incense, and a single sunflower. The flower was definitely too long to fit properly inside the bag, and it’s head peeped though the opening, yellow petals flickering while the car moved, every ridge on the road seemingly making it jump further and further out of its container.
With one hand on the wheel, and the other reaching out, he tried shoving the sunflower back into the bag, and in between eyeing the bag, then the road, picking the flower, pushing it, the bag sliding off the seat, loud news coming on the radio, Higuruma getting startled, his glasses slipping down his nose bridge, him pushing them back in place with his shoulder, tires screeching, a car horn, his heart pounding and his ears ringing, Higuruma came to the sensible conclusion that he should, as any responsible adult would, take a break.
I need a smoke.
Who he was visiting was definitely not going anywhere.
Checking where he was, Higuruma noticed a cafe nearby, and as fate would have it, there was a single parking spot right in front of it. He maneuvered the Passo, and the car fit neatly in between the white lines. Higuruma pulled his sunflower shawl — this time, not caught under any death trap, but laid over his back seat  alongside your scarf —, threw it around his neck and got out. He took a moment to stretch his fingers in the cold air, his breath clouding in front of his mouth, and tapped around his coat to take his wallet, finally inserting some coins into the park meter and crossing the guardrail by the sidewalk.
He’d have exactly thirty minutes to get his shit together.
The cafe was warm, inviting, and strangely familiar, its orange light almost emanating the smell of coffee beans, croissants and decadent redemption for weary travelers. The store front had a glass display through which he saw an assortment of sweet and salty baked goods. Higuruma would probably pick one of those to eat — the greasiest one, if possible —, had he not been carrying a rock in place of his stomach for the past few hours.
With his resolution waning, he mindlessly took a step back while peeping, and sighed, his tired sigh weighing on his body deciding for him that an espresso was probably the way to go.
Stepping inside, Higuruma paid no mind to whatever was around him, and waited for his turn in line to order his drink. Across from him, you nearly choked, half a donut shoved into your powdered-sugar smeared mouth, nearly spilling your own coffee over your second-hand suit.
After your interview, you thought it’d be a good idea to have a snack, and made your way inside the closest, warmest, coziest cafe you found, which was across the firm.
At that moment, you found yourself in a cliché adult life predicament — you just saw someone you knew, but they didn’t see you. Should you go over to greet them? Should you not? Would simply leaving be rude? Should you go actually talk to the man you definitely had — and shouldn’t have — a crush on?
You clutched your coffee harder as the thoughts flew around in your mind, as second nature at this point to avoid giving him another beverage shower.
After some quick consideration, you decided you would at least say hello, after all, it was the polite thing to do. You shoved the rest of your food into your mouth, washed it all down with the rest of your coffee, haphazardly cleaned around your mouth with a napkin and slowly walked towards him, stopping a few feet away. Somehow, he still hadn’t seen you, apparently too immersed in thought.
That was when you noticed a shawl around his neck.
It was pretty damn ugly.
“Professor, hi!” you greeted, and Higuruma got yanked out of whatever daydreams — or waking nightmares — he had been simmering in while waiting in line.
“Oh, hello. I didn’t expect to meet anyone here,” Higuruma replied, “I just stopped by for a snack.”
“Oh, nice. Their coffee is pretty good,” you said, “I got the espresso.”
“And… I hope that you’re finished already? With your coffee, I mean.” he asked while checking your hands, his usually unaffected tone slightly playful, earning him a chuckle from you.
“Rest assured, I’m not assaulting you nor your ugly shawl with my coffee,” you quipped, but his eyes only widened. His owlish eyes blinked once, and then twice, in absolute silence.
That was when you realized.
Oh. I said that out loud.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“Awfully hypocritical of both of us, huh?” he noted, with a discreet smile pulling on his lips.
Relieved, realizing he hadn’t taken offense, you sheepishly returned his smile, “I guess so. I don’t think I’ll get to keep being hypocritical about our ugly scarfs, though. I can’t seem to find mine, it’s been gone ever since that party.”
It was like a light bulb went on in Higuruma’s mind, and he cleared his throat before saying, “well, I may just prove you wrong. Follow me.”
Not fully understanding what he meant by that, you stood by him while he paid for his coffee, got it and walked outside. The cold winter breeze prickled your cheeks and your uncovered neck like hair-thin razor blades, and you followed Higuruma towards a car that wasn’t all that strange to you. Upon further inspection, you noticed that it was indeed his car, the old navy blue beat up thing you used as a shield for the wind during that night when you tried and failed at least half a dozen times to light a cigarette.
And then met him, and gave him a vodka scare.
And helped patting him dry with your-
“Here,” he called out, opening the door to the back seat. Sure enough, you saw that red, frizzly old thing tangled up in a ball.
“My scarf!” you reached inside and took it out, instantly throwing it around your neck. Higuruma noticed how you were genuinely pleased to have finally found it, and thought to himself that he’d most likely feel the same way if he ever lost and found his beat up, old shawl.
It was just one of those things imbued with a sense of history and familiarity that only beat up, old tokens from days past had.
“Thank you,” you whispered, while sliding your fingers through the worn out cotton. “It was a gift. I might complain about it more often than not, but-”
“But it’s an important part of your life,” he replied, and you both glanced at each other while you nodded.
“Yes. Something like that. It’s my favorite curse to carry around while complaining about it, you know?” you mused, adjusting it around your neck and gratefully welcoming the warmth it brought around your neck.
“I think I do,” he answered finally, taking a sip from his coffee.
“Let me repay you,” you offered. “Can I offer you a snack, or anything? Perhaps a smoke?”
“I’ll take you up on that cigarette offer,” he replied, and you pulled your pack out of your coat. Giving it a few taps, a cigarette popped up, and you took it in your lips, pulling another one and handing it to him.
Against his better judgement, Higuruma was slightly disappointed, and for a second, felt like kicking himself over it.
Idiot, you can’t seriously be expecting her to light a cigarette for me every time she offers you a smoke. Actually, I shouldn’t expect that at all.
 Against his will, Higuruma felt his cheeks warming up, and he tried his best to dive his face into his shawl while politely took the cigarette off your hands. You didn’t notice his moves and offered him your lighter — the same yellow, disposable one he had given you days ago. He picked it up, lit his cigarette and returned it.
“I see you still have it,” Higuruma noted, smiling gently, and you acquiesced.
“It has been my faithful companion for these past few weeks. I’m just glad I haven’t lost it like I lost my scarf,” you said before chuckling.
Higuruma leaned over the guardrail with his elbows, finally relaxing after… God knows how long. Slowly, he seemed to be getting lost in thought, and you seized the opportunity to better look at his shawl.  It had a sunflower pattern that went in a straight line right in front of it.
Still looking around as he stewed in his silent contemplations, you noticed there was a bag laying on top of his passenger’s seat. Peeping through it, stood a single sunflower, and what seemed to be the top of a Kirin bottle.
A sunflower man, hm?
The thought amused you as the corners of your mouth perked up in a gleeful smile, but you were quickly pulled out from it.
“Do you work nearby?” he asked, while taking a drag from his cigarette. “This is far from campus.”
“No. I mean, not yet. I was just… chasing my dreams,” you remarked, puffing some smoke. “What about you, Professor?”
Higuruma chuckled softly.
“I was being haunted by mine.”
You must’ve looked puzzled, because he quickly amended, “I was just on my way to visit someone and took a break for some coffee, that’s all.”
“Oh, I see,” you replied, realizing you were probably getting in his way. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to keep you from your appointment. I-”
“It’s okay, there’s no one waiting for me. Or so I like to think.”
That comment left you with more questions than answers.
“Apologies. I don’t mean to keep you from going about the rest of your day too,” he bid behind a curtain of smoke, “and thank you for the cigarette. I really needed it.”
With your final puffs, you put your cigarette out and smiled at Higuruma.
“It’s okay, Professor. I should really get going, though. We are, indeed, far from campus and I’d like to get to my dorm before it’s dark.”
With a bow, you walked away, leaving Higuruma to his own devices. He sighed, alone with himself and his thoughts once again, turning his attention once more to the bag he had inside his car.
“Hiromi,” a familiar voice called out. Higuruma turned around, only to be met by Nanami, who had a indecipherable expression on his face.
Minutes before, Nanami decided to visit the nearby cafe and check if they had his favorite casse croûte that day. He wouldn’t mind getting a croissant, though.
 Upon stepping outside his building with dreams of pastries swirling around his overworked mind, he noticed you and Higuruma outside the cafe, and figured that was the perfect opportunity to approach you both and introduce you as the new intern for the criminal law department. It was just a matter of time before Higuruma accepted his offer, as Nanami thought, and you’d be both working together. However, before he could, Nanami noticed you and Higuruma were chatting, and not only that, but you approached Higuruma’s car and got something — apparently belonging to you — from his back seat. The ugliest red scarf Nanami had ever seen.
… What?
Nanami then remembered that you were a student on the very same university he tended to.
The same one in which Higuruma was a teacher too.
Why does Hiromi have things belonging to a student in the backseat of his car, of all places?
Nanami was at a loss for words, and faltered for a few moments, wondering how he should ask Hiromi about this. That is, if he even should ask Hiromi about anything at all. Nanami decided to watch from afar, and something about the way Higuruma was carrying himself bothered Nanami.
He had only seen his best friend behaving like that in very specific scenarios, ones in which Hiromi definitely shouldn’t be interacting with a student of his.
After you left, Kento finally walked towards Hiromi, still uncertain if he should question his friend about the nature of your relationship with him. He could be imagining things.
But something was definitely disturbing him, he was sure of it. Something he couldn’t quite put a finger on.
“Kento, hi! Oh… I had forgotten, your firm is nearby, isn’t it?” Hiromi asked while looking around. “Sorry, I always seem to forget where it is. That explains why this cafe felt so familiar. Care for a smoke?”
“No.”
“You haven’t smoked with me in a long time,” Higuruma offered, pulling his own cigarette pack from his coat’s inner pocket.
“I quit years ago,” Nanami reminded him, trying to put an end to this conversation detour.
“You still smoke on special occasions,” Higuruma offered, “eh, I wish I had your resolve.”
“You do, you just fail to direct it at things that will benefit you in the long run.”
“Just my little human shortcoming, I guess,” Higuruma finally replied, sparing Nanami a soft smile. He walked towards his car while unlocking it, “Let’s have something to eat, the coffee opened up my appetite. I just need to get more coins in case I end up going over the meter’s time limit, hold on.”
“Hiromi,” Nanami said once again, his tone graver than usual. That caught Higuruma’s attention.
“Hm, is everything okay?” Higuruma asked while leaning into his car.
Before Nanami could go on with his planned line of inquiry, he noticed what was over passenger’s seat. Especially the sunflower.
“Are you at it again?” Nanami asked, gesturing with his head towards it.
“Ah, you saw it…” Higuruma commented, as if he was a child being caught red handed while making a mess out of the house. “Well, yes. I’m trying to, and failing at it once again.”
“You know you don’t have to go, right?” Kento offered, while pulling some change from his pocket. “I have coins, we’ll be fine. Let me get you a snack, this cafe has the best casse croute around.”
“I do have to go, though,” Higuruma closed the door and stepped back onto the sidewalk. “I should, at least.”
Higuruma’s earlier energy seemed to wane ever so slightly, his shoulders falling while he slouched, unconsciously making himself smaller.
“I don’t think I’ll manage to do it today, either,” he finally said, his eyes low on his feet, and his voice barely above a whisper.
Assessing the situation, it was clear that Higuruma was in no way in the right mindset to have that conversation regarding you, so Nanami put a mental note on it to ask about it at a later time. He stepped beside Hiromi and put a hand gently on his shoulder, sighing.
“Is it low tar?” Nanami questioned, clearing his throat to disguise his displeasure.
“Hm, what?”
“Your cigarette. Is it low tar?”
Higuruma huffed, a tiny smile forming on his lips as he said, “yes, yes it is.”
In a smooth motion, Higuruma pulled his pack back out of his coat and took two cigarettes out of it, handing one to Nanami along with a lighter. With the disposition of a man ready to face the electric chair, Kento pursed his lips around the cigarette, and lit it, only to be thrown in a coughing fit moments later.
“How the mighty do fall,” Higuruma noted with a discreet smirk on his lips, “you used to smoke more than me.”
“Shut up,” Nanami managed to churn out in between coughs, “this brand is awful.”
His friend chuckled while taking one long drag from his cigarette.
“Hey, Kento.”
“What?” Nanami considered tossing the cigarette as far as he could, but tried his best to survive it, even if just for Hiromi’s benefit.
“Is that offer still on the table? To…” Hiromi paused for a moment, clearing his throat, “hm, work in your firm?”
Managing to get his throat and lungs under control, Nanami glanced at Hiromi, knowing full well that good things came to those who wait.
Just like he had.
“Yes. Why do you ask?”
i'm so chill but you make me jealous jealous deadpool x fem!reader, 18+
Tumblr media
Summary: deadpool sees you on a date with another guy and loses his shit lol
Pairing: jealous deadpool x fem!reader
Word Count: 1.4k
Warnings/Tags: jealousy, possessive, angst, brat, noncon, dubcon
You were trying to figure out the fastest way to get out of this dumpster fire of a date. This is what you get for putting yourself out there, by the fervent advice of both your mother and entire social circle. So you went ahead and downloaded a dating app out of sheer boredom but also a tiny glimmer of hope. After quite a number of left swipes and a small handful of rights, you somehow wound up across the dinner table with… er, you forgot his name already.
But you knew he worked in finance. Or was it accounting? Anyways, he was currently explaining the intricacies of the stock market to you, and the appetizer hasn’t even come out yet. And you realized that you couldn’t care any less.
“I.. have to go to the bathroom,” you said, standing up quickly and pushing in your chair. Your date almost didn’t seem to notice, giving you a half-hearted acknowledgement and then continuing to drabble on to himself about cryptocurrency.
Without another word, you darted to the nearest exit of the restaurant, finding yourself on the freshly rained-on sidewalk. You always loved the smell of the concrete after it had just rained.
Your heels made a satisfying click-clack sound as you briskly maneuvered your way down the street. You opened up your texts to see if you missed anything during the god-awful date, and lo and behold, was a message from none other than Wade.
“Love the dress,” it read.
You glanced behind you, then side to side, and once you turned back around, there he was, leaning against the side of the cornerstore.
“What are you doing here?” you asked, barely turning towards him before directing your attention back to your phone and continuing to walk past him.
“Ohhhh, so it’s ice cold today,” he commented, following right behind you. “I love that flavor.”
“What do you want,” you said while texting a friend about how disastrously the date went. “I am just going home.”
“Well, I was just walking by when I caught a glimpse of you through the window of that Italian restaurant back there,” the assassin replied. “Speaking of which, what was on the menu? I mean that place looked upscale! Like they probably sprinkle gold dust on their pasta instead of parmesan.”
It was an Olive Garden.
“To be blunt, I honestly forgot,” you responded. “I didn’t even eat anything.”
“Well, why did you leave so early?” he pried, this obviously piquing his attention now.
“I-I felt sick,” you lied, your intonation increasing as quickly as your apprehension. “Can we just change the subject, please?”
“Oh ho ho,” Deadpool chuckled, as if he struck gold. “That bad? I mean, I didn’t get a great look at the guy, but from what I saw, he wasn’t terrible-looking. Also, he wore a fleece vest. I mean, that’s just the height of fashion, you really can’t get any better than that.”
“Are you having fun?” you said, rolling your eyes as he continued to mock your absolutely colossal defeat of an evening.
“Oh, absolutely,” Deadpool laughed. “The other point of contention is why the hell you decided to pull out this absolute banger of a dress for your first date with Mr. Finance Bro there and not ours?”
“That was not a date,” you enunciated, pressing your finger into Wade’s chest. “That was a drunken one night stand that will never happen again and that you even promised to never bring up. It was stupid and nonsensical and I can’t believe it even happened in the first place.”
“Oh come on, Y/N, you’re going to break my heart,” he whined, clasping his hands together like a needy puppy. “I, for one, thought that night was very special. I mean, you even told me that you could see yourself fall-”
Before he could say another word, you grabbed him by the hand and led him into a dark alleyway so that innocent bystanders wouldn’t hear you scream.
“Stop! Bringing that up!” you exclaimed.
Deadpool was shocked his casual mention of the event elicited such a strong emotion from you. “Okay, okay, jeez.. calm down.”
You sighed, letting him go and turning your back to him.
But he didn’t let you. Not even for a second. Before you could even react, he grabbed you by the neck and slammed you into the wall.
You gasped, your hands instinctively reaching up to clasp over his while his grip only tightened over your carotid.
“Besides, you know that I only followed you here because I wanted to see more of you in this ridiculously skimpy dress..” his voice darkened as he continued to choke you like a helpless animal. “I mean, look at you. That thing practically clings onto you like skin! If you weren’t such a tightass I would have ripped it off of you by now..”
He unsheathed his pocket knife and ran it across your lacy scarlet choker, over the thin straps of your slip dress, and onto your chest. He traced the outline of your cleavage with the dull edge, and then slowly slid it down over your taut stomach.
You were trying to gulp up air for just one breath, but his hold was unrelenting.
“I mean a red mini dress, are you fucking kidding me?” he snarled, his blade gently brushing against the garter belt on your right thigh. “Wearing my favorite color? With some other guy? This has got to be orchestrated at this point, Y/N.”
“Wade.. please..” you begged, lips beginning to quiver. Regardless of how much he joked around with you, he scared you when he was angry.
He finally released you, allowing you to cough and gasp for your first breath.
“But you know of course I wouldn’t kill you, I mean who do you think I am, a psychopath?” his tone immediately brightened up the moment he saw how much you feared him. “I just like watching you not being able to breathe is all. It’s so cute.”
 After you finally caught your breath, you stared daggers down at the vigilante who stood before you.
“Listen, Wade,” you said. “I understand you are not exactly pleased with the current state of affairs. But this isn’t entirely up to me. And I’ve told you this a million different times.’
The assassin let out a dramatic, almost cinematic sigh. “Yes, I know, Your mother wants you to date ‘someone sensible with a stable career and not a psycho killer’. Which is perfectly understandable! I get it. I mean, I would probably think the same thing if I lived in the suburbs and made tuna casserole in my spare time.”
“Wade..” you shook your head and rolled your eyes. “You know it’s not that simple.” You walked up to him and gently lifted up his mask to reveal only his lips.
He didn’t hesitate to grab you by the waist and pull you so close that your body was pressed up against his.
You stood up on your tiptoes in your heels, stabilizing yourself by holding onto his broad shoulders. You weren’t exactly sure what you were doing, but you knew something within you just wanted to kiss him. But you also didn’t know if this was the right idea.
The plump part of your lip gently brushed against his. The smell of your watermelon lip gloss was driving him crazy. He started to breathe heavily, and if another second passed where you weren’t kissing him he would say fuck it and just do it himself.
You felt his hot breath in your mouth, and you felt your arms twist around him like they knew exactly where to rest themselves. Like they have done this before.
“I’m so stupid for this,” you sighed, as you felt his lips beginning to close over yours.
He smiled smugly into the kiss, quite pleased with himself over the hard fought victory. Without another moment of hesitation, he grabbed the back of your thighs and lifted you up without much effort at all. He walked over to the wall, pressing your back softly against it.
You wrapped your legs around his waist automatically, kissing him like you would die if you stopped. You felt his tongue wrap desperately around yours. He was aggressive, hungry even. He wanted you all to himself, not some fucker in a fleece vest or anyone else for that matter.
You knew you would regret your decision in the morning. And that no matter how hard you tried to deny it, you would come running back to him. Every single time.
✦ .  ⁺   . ✦ .  ⁺   . ✦
chapter twenty
the day before mikey’s birthday, y/n stood in front of the sano household, ready to help emma bake his cake as promised. she rang the doorbell, waiting for emma to answer.
but when the door opened, she was met with someone else entirely.
izana.
he stood there with an easy smile, looking way too calm for her liking. “oh, y/n. come in. emma’s already in the kitchen.”
she nodded, stepping inside, but for some reason, the air around izana always felt… different. she couldn’t put her finger on it. maybe she was overthinking again.
before she could even drop her bag on the dining table, emma’s voice cut through the air.
“you’re late.” arms crossed, face unimpressed. “girl, we were supposed to start an hour ago.”
y/n rolled her eyes. “blame your brother. i had to come up with, like, fifty different excuses just so he’d let me leave alone. i was this close to snitching about the cake.”
emma gasped dramatically. “he’s still at your place? girl, kick him out already! he’s not sick anymore. stop babying him.” then she narrowed her eyes. “but, knowing you, this is probably your idea either.” she stuck her tongue out in mock disgust.
“hey! what’s that supposed to mean?”
emma smirked but said nothing.
as they started prepping the ingredients, emma, as expected, went on her usual rants. y/n was used to it by now.
“you know what i’m really mad about? summer classes! do you know how much i’m missing out on?! and it’s your fault, y/n!”
“excuse me?” y/n scoffed. “i only said i was taking extra credit classes. you’re the one who decided to tag along.”
“well, duh! you’re my best friend. i can’t just let you suffer alone while i’m out having fun. and, please, you need to stop lying to yourself. i know you took that class just so you can hang out there with mikey.” she rolled her eyes. “don’t think i don’t know he failed one of his subjects and has to take remedial classes this summer.”
y/n didn’t even try to deny it. instead, she smirked. “oh, really? then what about you? didn’t ken fail too? and isn’t that the real reason you enrolled?” she mimicked air quotes. “you literally said, ‘if i spend my summer without him, it’s basically cheating.’”
“shhh!” emma slammed her eyes shut as if she could pretend she never said that.
y/n burst out laughing.
just then, izana walked into the kitchen. “what are you guys talking about?”
“hell.” emma deadpanned.
“summer classes,” y/n added while stirring the cake batter.
they said in unison.
emma turned to her brother with an exaggerated look of pity. “y/n, this one here is a masochist. like, why would anyone willingly enroll in summer classes?”
izana chuckled. “you see, my dear little sister, i had to take the remaining credits so i can enroll next semester. it’s just two weeks, though—just finishing up what i left behind back in the philippines.”
“ugh.” emma pouted. “why is everyone in summer classes?” she dramatically clutched her chest. “i just need to survive next week. please, please, please. that’s the last week.”
y/n laughed. “you’ll live.”
“do you guys need any help?” izana leaned against the kitchen doorway, watching as y/n and emma moved around.
“actually, yeah,” emma said, exasperated. “an extra set of hands would be great.”
izana looked at y/n for approval, raising a brow. she hesitated for a second—but then she just nodded.
and so the three of them got to work. everything was going smoothly at first—measuring ingredients, mixing, setting up the oven—until izana got put in charge of the icing.
which was a mistake.
y/n barely had time to react before she felt something cold and sticky on her nose.
“izana, what the hell?!” she shrieked, wiping at the icing he’d just smudged on her.
when she turned to glare at him, he had the audacity to grin, looking way too pleased with himself.
y/n scoffed. oh, so that’s how we’re playing?
without hesitation, she grabbed some icing and smeared it across his cheek, making him laugh.
next thing she knew, they were running around the kitchen, dodging and attacking like a couple of kids, giggling in between.
but then—
“would you two quit it?!” emma snapped, arms crossed.
which was exactly when izana, still grinning, turned on her.
before she could react, he smeared a huge glob of icing on her cheek.
“IZANA!!!” emma shrieked. “YOU’RE SO DEAD TO ME!!”
she lunged at him, but he dodged effortlessly, grabbing more icing. and then—chaos.
izana targeted emma relentlessly, smearing icing on her forehead, cheeks, even her hair.
“STOP TARGETING ME, YOU ASSHOLE!!” emma screamed, flailing her arms.
“i have no idea what you’re talking about,” izana said innocently, despite the clear evidence all over emma’s face.
y/n was practically crying from laughter at this point.
when emma finally escaped his grasp, she stomped off toward the bathroom, muttering a string of curses under her breath.
that left y/n and izana alone in the kitchen, still breathless from laughing.
they made their way to the sink, cleaning themselves off. as izana washed up, y/n waited beside him, the energy finally settling into something calmer.
then, out of nowhere, izana spoke. “so… is this your first time celebrating mikey’s birthday?”
y/n nodded. “yeah.”
“do you have a present for him yet?”
“no.” she sighed. “i have no idea what to get him.”
izana hummed, finishing up and stepping aside so she could wash her hands. he grabbed a towel, drying himself off. “want me to help you pick something?”
she glanced at him. “what do you have in mind?”
reaching into his pocket, izana pulled out his motorcycle keys. attached to them was a small keychain—a red charm shaped like his signature earrings, lined with intricate gold details. he held it up for her to see.
“mikey likes matching with people,” he said. “i got him a matching one of these back when we first got our bikes from shinichiro.” a small chuckle left him. “not sure if he still has it, though.”
y/n tilted her head. “oh, he does. i’ve seen it on his keys.”
izana blinked in surprise before his expression softened. “really?”
she nodded. “mhm.”
he looked… happy.
after a beat, he turned to her. “so?” he asked. “want my help?”
y/n grabbed the towel and dried her hands, glancing up at him.
“alright,” she said, smiling.
as soon as they stepped into the kitchen, they put the final touches on the cake. it turned out perfect—so much so that emma immediately pulled out her phone, snapping endless pictures from every angle like it was a high-end photoshoot.
y/n watched her dramatically reposition the plate for better lighting.
“look at this masterpiece.” emma said to herself as she continued taking pictures.
izana chuckled before turning to y/n. “emma, y/n and i are heading out for a bit.”
“mhm, okay,” emma mumbled, still fixated on her impromptu cake photography session. then, as an afterthought, she added, “make sure y/n gets home safe.”
and with that, they left.
outside, izana led her to where his motorbike was parked.
before y/n could even reach for the helmet, izana grabbed it himself. without hesitation, he slipped it onto her head, his fingers brushing against her skin as he adjusted the strap under her chin.
y/n froze.
he’s so close again.
“there.” his voice was soft, almost amused, as he finished securing the helmet. and then, as if to make things worse, he gently lifted her chin, flashing her a small smile.
y/n just stood there, completely dumbfounded.
was he always like this to everyone?
before she could dwell on it, izana casually turned away, swinging his leg over the bike. then, he held out his hand to help her get on.
hesitantly, she took it and climbed on behind him.
once settled, she gripped the back of his shirt lightly—not wanting to overstep. but apparently, that wasn’t enough for izana.
without a word, he reached behind him, grabbed her wrists, and pulled her arms around his waist, securing them there.
y/n stiffened.
this was too close.
but izana said nothing. he just started the engine like it was the most natural thing in the world.
meanwhile, y/n’s thoughts were all over the place. she was hugging him. actually hugging him. would mikey be mad if he saw this?
wait—why did that even matter?
it wasn’t like they were together.
right?
but the thought of mikey getting the wrong idea—of seeing her like this with izana—made her uneasy. she didn’t know why, but it did.
lost in thought, she didn’t even notice when they finally pulled up to the mall.
as soon as they entered the mall, izana grabbed y/n’s wrist and led her toward a small store tucked in the corner.
“good, they’re still open,” he muttered, almost in relief. “it’s been years since i last came here.”
the moment they stepped inside, an elderly woman behind the counter beamed at them.
“welcome! oh—i remember you!” she gasped, eyes lighting up. “you’re the young man who customized those keychains a few years ago! my, my, you’ve grown up so beautifully.”
izana rubbed the back of his head, looking almost shy. “it’s been a while.”
the old lady then turned her attention to y/n, her smile growing even warmer. “and is this your girlfriend? oh, you’re a lucky one—she’s such a beautiful girl.”
“oh, we’re not—” y/n started, but before she could finish, izana casually draped an arm over her shoulders.
“she really is beautiful, right, baby?” he said smoothly, shooting her a teasing smile.
y/n blinked up at him, completely thrown off.
leaning down, izana whispered near her ear, “just play along. she’s a sucker for romantic couples—we might get a discount.”
y/n rolled her eyes but went along with it, offering the old lady a forced but polite smile.
“so, what do you want, babe? matching necklaces? keychains?” izana asked, clearly enjoying himself.
“bracelets,” y/n answered, ignoring the way he was grinning at her.
“ah, perfect choice!” the old lady clapped her hands. “they’ll suit you two wonderfully.”
y/n shot izana a glare, but he just bit his lip, trying to hold back a smirk. he’s enjoying this way too much.
while the old lady got to work customizing the bracelets, y/n found herself getting more and more excited. she could already picture mikey wearing his—and hers, too. meanwhile, izana casually browsed through the store, his hands in his pockets.
“it’s done, dear.”
y/n turned back and gasped. “oh, wow! thank you so much, it’s beautiful.”
the bracelets were simple but elegant, each engraved with an initial—one with an M and the other with her own.
“thank you! here, let me pay—”
“oh, no need, dear. it’s my gift to you two lovebirds.”
y/n’s eyes widened, and she turned to izana in shock. he leaned in, smirking as he whispered, “told ya.”
y/n groaned internally, but she still bowed in gratitude before they both stepped out of the store.
the moment they were outside, her excitement bubbled over, and before she could think, she threw her arms around izana’s neck.
“thank you, thank you, thank you!!” she practically jumped on him.
izana stiffened, clearly caught off guard. for a second, he didn’t know where to put his hands, but before he could decide, y/n quickly pulled away.
she cleared her throat, awkwardly avoiding his gaze. “uh—sorry.”
izana just chuckled, shaking his head. “silly.” he reached out and poked her nose. “shall we go home?”
“wait.” she tugged on his sleeve, pouting slightly. “wanna get cheesecake.”
izana let out a soft laugh. cute.
“c’mon.”
the air in the café was warm, filled with the comforting aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries. y/n and izana sat at a small table near the window, their drinks in front of them. izana had ordered her favorite without even asking, and of course, he paid—something that led to playful bickering between them.
“seriously, izana, you didn’t have to—”
“too late,” he smirked, taking a sip of his coffee. “i win.”
y/n huffed, but there was a small smile on her lips. her gaze flickered to the time on her phone, and her eyes widened.
“oh, shoot. i need to get home.” she quickly grabbed her bag. “i promised manjiro a movie marathon in exchange for letting me go this morning. your brother is such a pain sometimes.” she rolled her eyes but laughed.
izana chuckled too, shaking his head. “yeah, he never does anything unless there’s something in it for him.”
they finally stood up. without warning, he reached down and took her hand, effortlessly intertwining their fingers.
y/n’s breath hitched. wait, what?
her heart pounded against her ribs, but izana acted like nothing was out of the ordinary. he simply tugged her along toward the exit, as if holding hands was the most natural thing in the world.
but just as they reached the door, someone else pushed it open from the outside.
y/n’s entire body froze.
mikey.
her fingers uncurled from izana’s in an instant, panic surging through her.
mikey’s eyes flickered to the plastic bag in her other hand—the one holding the cheesecake izana had bought for her. the realization dawned on him almost immediately.
his expression didn’t change. not really. but there was something in his eyes, something distant, something cold.
“guess i don’t need to buy you one after all,” he muttered, voice quiet but sharp.
y/n felt something crack inside her chest.
“manjiro—”
but he was already turning away.
“wait, manjiro—” she rushed after him, reaching out, fingers curling around his arm.
he stopped. just for a second.
“it’s not what it looks like, i swear—”
he let out a soft chuckle, but there was no warmth in it. just something hollow, something that made y/n’s stomach twist painfully.
“you don’t need to explain anything, y/n,” he said, gently prying her hand off him. “we’re not even together.”
and then, without another word, he walked away.
leaving her standing there.
leaving her with the weight of something unsaid, something that felt dangerously close to regret.
𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬!! :>
pairing: implied stu macher x fem!reader
a/n: I LITERALLY LOVE YOU FOR REQUESTING THIS OHFOHDEGKIGTPJUPKHOJDTGQRHOYYU
i cannot express how much i fucking think about this group. there will be plenty of the ‘gang’ content coming soon!! picturing them doing the stupidest shit together is just, AH.
anyways anon, thank you for your request that made me so ridiculously happy lol (ENJOY!!)
UPDATE: YO. THIS HAS BEEN IN MY DRAFTS FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND ITS SLIGHTLY UNFINISHED BUT I’LL JUST GIVE IT TO Y’ALL ANYWAY
warnings: harsh language, randy thinking he’s literally gordon ramsey
Tumblr media
• Boy oh boy, summertime had finally came around once again. Giving you all a pretty good idea of what was coming soon..
CAMPING!
• Okay, okay.. this hadn’t originally been apart any of your guys’ plans, but all of your parents were stubborn and wanted you to spend more time together.
• And apparently camping was just the right way to do so? Whatever. It’s not like any of you were ever going to win if you tried to protest on going each year. You lot VS a ton of parents? Fuck. It would never work.
• The agreed arrangement had been Stu, Billy, Randy, Sidney, Tatum and yourself to all go camping for atleast one week during summer break.
• Of course Billy was always the one trying to creep his way out of this shitty plan. It had been going on for so many years that the rest of y’all stopped trying at this point. But Billy? Oh, he was pretty damn adamant on faking whatever dumbass illness he could think of.
• You all made bets on who he would call that year, trying to convince that person on how very ‘poorly’ he was doing.
“I can’t go. I have a cold.”
“It’s July..”
“I HAVE A COLD.”
• His dad ended up dragging him out of the house and right into the van Stu’s parents bought him specifically for this occasion.
• After checking you guys had everything packed and ready to go, you were off into the hills!
• It was an interesting road trip to say the least, hours of Randy complaining he had to take a piss, plus Billy whining about how he didn’t wanna be here.. yeah.. an ideal three hours, huh? Jesus.
• The minute you guys arrive, Randy instantly runs over to a tree a little further away from you guys and pulls down his pants, urinating onto the land.
• Tatum always tends to start an argument and tells him how fucking disgusting he is, but he insists that she shuts her mouth and waits until it’s HER turn to be forced to have her bodily functions take over.
“Yeah, yeah, it’s all fun and games until you have to take a dump in the bushes!!”
“AS IF!” Tatum squealed.
“Cut the bullshit, Alicia. You know it’s gonna happen sooner or later.” Billy chimed in.
• You insist on everyone taking a little walk through the woods, just to get familiar with the area once again.
• The rest of the gang agree and head on out with you, embracing the peaceful surrounding.
• You, Billy and Stu slowly walk side by side as the other three are already way ahead of you, arguing over the dumbest shit once again.
• Randy and Tatum always argued non fucking stop everytime you all went camping. Sidney would just awkwardly tag along, trying to change the subject to literally anything else..
• The three ask for permission to go back to camp, seeing as Tatum had made the poor choice of wearing her cute little white boots, though unfortunately they had heels.
• This just meant more peace and quiet for yourself, Billy and Stu. You’d see your other friends later, of course. But a tad bit of extra time with your boyfriend and another one of your closest friends wasn’t going to hurt.
• You guys returned for sun down, as spending all night in the goddamn woods of all places would be rather idiotic of you.
• Each and every one of your stomach’s began to growl, so Stu finally decided to whip out the grill!
• He had packed some hotdogs and burgers, ready to be cooked as soon as possible. Randy also brought along some snacks of course because you know, it’s Randy lmao.
• Another argument breaks out, but this time it’s between both Randy and Stu. Supposedly, Stu was in charge of bringing topping and sauces for the hotdogs. (Of course he had to forget it..)
“Aw, fuck this!” Randy said with a mouthful of food, throwing the remaining piece of his hotdog at a nearby tree.
“NOOOO!” Stu yelped. “What the fuck, man! You ruined a perfectly good hotdog!!”
Randy scoffed. “STU.. MY MOUTH FEELS DRIER THAN A DEAD WOMAN’S VAGINA.. THIS IS SO PLAIN. YOU DIDN’T EVEN BRING PICKLES DUDE..”
“Sorry but who the fuck puts pickles on a hotdog?”
“WHERE’S THE FLAVOUR IN THIS PIECE OF SHIT? IT’S BLAND. PAINFULLY BLAND.”
You pinched the bridge of your nose, seemed like Randy was having his Gordon Ramsey moment.
• After drunk Randy’s constant complaining and Stu almost losing it over the fact you guys decided you’d make s’mores tomorrow instead of the present night, it didn’t take long until everyone decided to crash for the night. You all had proper tents built up, despite what y’all went through to get them that way..
“No, no, you’re gonna do it wrong. You see, you gotta make sure you’ve put the peg in the right place first.” Billy reminded Stu, trying his hardest to set up their tent. He knew his sleep was going to benefit from this of course, so that was the only reason why he began caring at this point.
“I got it!” Stu smiled, attempting to smack the peg with his mini hammer.
“THAT WAS MY FINGER YOU FU-”
Billy was sure he’d be sweating bullets for days after fully setting up the camp for everyone. He truly didn’t think it would be so hard, but much to his dismay, he was proven wrong.
• Randy and Tatum flat out refused to share a tent together, so they gave Billy the hassle of making two separate tents instead. Whereas Billy and Stu had agreed on sleeping in a tent together, whilst you and Sidney were more than happy to do the exact same thing.
• The tents were rather thin, causing everyone else to hear what was going on inside each tent. Including Randy letting out the odd bit of gas here and there or him sleep talking about ‘Prom Night’ with Jamie Lee Curtis.
• As the sunlight crept its way into everyone’s tents, you all began to stir and awaken. Morning was here. And you were all going to have to get up and start the day.
• Today was rock climbing! Something that had split opinions from the majority of you. Those like yourself, Stu and Tatum found it fun, but others such as Billy, Sidney and Randy weren’t too keen on it.
“You’re all such pussies, man. It’s safe. I don’t know why the three of you complain about it every damn year.” Stu remarked, his attention on your other three friends who really couldn’t be bothered to participate in such an activity right now.
“Please. You only like it because you’re tall and fast enough to catch yourself before you fall.” Billy snorted.
The Social Season Begins…
Dearest gentle reader,
It is with great delight that I welcome you all to the dawn of a new social season, where the ton’s most eligible ladies and gentlemen shall once more parade themselves in pursuit of love, fortune, or—more oft than not—a most advantageous match.
Of course, no season would be complete without its notorious figures, and this year’s eligible bachelors are of no small consequence.
At the very top of society’s ranks, we have Lord Ominis Gaunt, son of the esteemed Duke, returning to London in search of a wife this season. Reserved and impeccably mannered, Lord Gaunt is a rare jewel among men—possessing both a keen mind and a fortune large enough to tempt even the most indifferent of young ladies. Yet, some whispers suggest that the young lord harbors no great desire for marriage at all. Scandalous, indeed. For he is now the sole living heir of the noble Gaunt family line.
And then there is Lord Gareth Weasley, heir to the Earl of Cambridge, whose reputation as a most charming rogue precedes him. With a devilish grin and a penchant for mischief, Lord Weasley’s heart remains as unclaimed as ever, though many a young lady has certainly tried. Rumour has it his rakish behaviour has been tempered by his Aunt of all others in his family. Though we shall see whether the fruits of her supposed labours truly come to fruition, or whether the young heir remains a veritable rake.
Not to be overlooked, we have the ambitious Mr. Amit Thakkar, whose keen wit and intellectual pursuits have earned him a place among the ton’s most fascinating minds. A scholar, a dreamer, and—perhaps—a suitor to watch this season after all.
Then, of course, there is Mr. Riyuu Takayama, a gentleman of both mystery and great promise. A friend to the finest gentlemen in society, he is known for his quiet intensity and unwavering loyalty. If he is searching for a match, he does so with great discretion, though some would argue one particular has already caught his eye. Should this supposed match in the making temper his Rakish ways? Or perhaps he and Lord Weasley both remain on the cusp of scandal.
But, dearest reader, all eyes shall be fixed upon none other than Viscount Sebastian Sallow, who has now inherited both title and fortune after the unfortunate passing of the formidable Lord Solomon Sallow. The new Viscount is seemingly now known for his sharp tongue and sharper gaze, his once-boyish charm now transformed into a most dangerous kind of allure. Whether he seeks a bride or merely amusement, rest assured, he shall be the subject of many whispered conversations this season indeed.
Yet, among the ton’s eligible young ladies, there is but one name that society eagerly awaits to hear announced as this season’s Diamond - None other than a Miss Ariadne Dawson, the enchanting daughter of Viscount Sirius Dawson. The eager eyes of the ton have waited for the Dawsons to debut their Graceful, intelligent, and undeniably captivating, daughter. She appears to posses a spirit most unconventional. If the whispers are true, she may yet be the rarest of prizes, a lady whose heart will not be won so easily.
And let us not forget the brilliant young ladies who shall be making their own debuts: Miss Poppy Sweeting, whose gentleness belies an unexpected strength; Miss Natsai Onai, a vision of elegance with a sharp mind to match; Miss Imelda Reyes, whose fiery spirit ensures no dull moment in any drawing room; and, of course, Miss Anne Sallow, the twin sister to the newly inherited Viscount, whose return to society is sure to raise more than a few eyebrows. For the rumours circling of her absence from last season have begun to stir once more with even the most absurd of theories.
But while the season sparkles with promise, one cannot help but wonder—what shadows lurk beneath all this finery? For there are already murmurs of a most intriguing scandal, a tale of indiscretions that could shake even the sturdiest of reputations. A certain gentleman’s late-night whereabouts have been the subject of hushed speculation, and another young lady has been seen in far too many unchaperoned moments with a suitor she ought not to entertain.
Could it be that this season’s grandest romance will also be its most ruinous?
What alliances shall form? What hearts shall break? And, most tantalizing of all—who, dear reader, shall fall?
Rest assured, I shall uncover every secret, every stolen glance, every whispered confession.
You may hide, but I see all…
Yours most faithfully,
Lady Whistledown
He has now put them on the bed, and they just stay there. :p Also, part of Chapter 4 is already written, since I realised the important events of this chapter ended when Bruce when into the servery to finish talking over the phone to Clark in private lol. Chapter 4 will be cozy, but I tell my real life story to explain why the others feel like something is off, so, uh, proceed with caution!
Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3 - Chapter 4 (Coming soon...)
Tumblr media
The kitchen was dark and the pantry door was silent. Although no one looked, it was obvious that the sunlight from the window had become moonlight. Batman had stepped forward from the door, and stood behind and slightly to the left of Faith, looking down at her. She looked directly in front of her, in the space betwen Nightwing's left arm and Batgirl's right arm. Nightwing and Batgirl looked at the wall.
A dog's heavy panting approached the window from the left. Upon the window, thump, splurch. Thump, splurch, thump, squick! "Bark, woof! Grrr... rarf! Rarf, arf, rarf! Snarl... snort." A soft thwick of tail hitting glass.
Batman counted: one. Two. Three. Four. A cluster of bare feet, pad, timp, pad-pad, and fingernails, scritch, scrrrr, scritch, came into the kitchen. Pad, pad.
"Scraawk!" Click, click of the tongue. Timp timp, timp, pad.
"Scrrr?"
"Scrawk!" Thud, thud! Near the island. Scrape, rrrrip! "SKYAW!"
"SCRAW!"
"ENOUGH!" Boomed a bass voice from the doorway. Faith's loins tickled, and she hated it.
Two. Three. Four. Critch, critch, critch. Critch, critch critch! Click, click of the tongue. Slurrrrp. Smack, smack of the lips. Two pairs of neon orange eyes gazing at each other slowly came into the view of the humans, the heads of the Ghouls illuminated by the window. They snapped and stared at Nightwing and Batgirl.
Do you remember the time the light of your past burned hot, and you were alone with the noise?
I remember that light, and its heat, my feet on the platform but my paralysed body flying at an impossible speed to the sun and starting to orbit to present Earth with a divine spectacle, how the screams rang in my ears. But I didn't stay there. I was embraced by a man who did his best, for his first dance under a different light, and both of us developed from our time together. I made the best friends and found both of the dearest loves that I will ever have. We dance in the light, golden day or silver night, in any weather, for the people who need us, and we dance for each other, sometimes. We dance for people like the woman you seem so eager to control, a woman who has struggled with control her whole life and seems to have found it, before you itched at her subconscious until you found a perfect monster to bring you to life. When I am the only light in a scene of dread and sorrow, I burn those like you, who have burned others and refuse to change their bulb or turn it off. Get out of my head.
Hiss. Snarl. Spit! Well, fine. Be that way.
Do you remember the time your heart was pulled at its roots, and you were alone to weep at its ruin?
I remember that love, and the pain, the pure chaos that shredded my shelter like the people I swore to protect with every once of strength in my body who I could only help using my intellect, the passive loss of worth I felt every day, how my love became the half of me that had been made useless and numb. But it did not last. I could still move my other half. I saved my life and the lives of others even like that. I am priviledged to be called "the best" or "my favourite" by many. In fact, I think I met someone who dyed their hair to be like me, today. I was not abandoned by those who care for me, and I never neglected myself when my roots were torn from beneath me. My love and roots were mended and made stronger, and now I save my tears for those who need it. Get out of my head!
Hiss. Snarl. Spit! Well, fine. Be that way.
Do you remember━?
"I always remember." Batman said. Faith gasped and turned her eyes and head to Batman. Their gaze lasted for a short second. A tall black figure, glowing neon red, with neon red eyes, briskly came from the doorway and stood in front of Faith, making Nightwing stumble.
A Ghoul swiftly extended its neck, crick, and followed Nightwing with a grossly opening jaw, but the hero planted himself as soon as he had been unstabilised. The Ghoul retreated and snapped its teeth at the other Ghoul, that snarled. The first Ghoul began a high pitch, "Scr━!"
The glowing figure whipped its left arm up, grabbing the head of the whining Ghoul and making it shut up. The glowing figure brought the Ghoul to its face, the figure's mouth suddenly opening down to the floor. The figure violently stuffed the Ghoul in its mouth, and swallowed it with a grotesque crunch and squelch.
"Go home." Said the figure. The remaining Ghoul, critch, critch, critch critch, thump! Timp timp, pad-pad, timp. "Here, boy." The window broke, and something with four legs, thump thump, thump, pant, pant, pant. Slurrrrp, pant, pant. "Spread the word."
The white paws of the dog sprang onto Faith's shoulders, its weight making her stagger, and its human smile and dark canine eyes stared into her eyes. The figure said, "You remember me, right, wife?" Faith parted her lips, a distinct suck-click sound made. The dog removed its paws, and sat, panting at the right foot of the figure.
"The dreams where I was human, dark haired, fair skinned, wearing clothes that you like, and I pierced the illusion's face in places that you like, too. I even made a blonde, fair skinned woman for you to have, dressed just like me. The dream where I showed you the inside of my loins, designed to breed you, and I fucked you there until you came with me, and you awoke. The dream where I was a black storm cloud, and you rubbed your sweet little cunt on my massive penis that dwarfed you. Your virgin juices dripped onto my member, and the one squirt of sperm I released was so colossal that you awoke. No more waking up with your dignity and secret. I am sorry your choice was taken from you, wife. But it is time to come home."
"'Where is home?', I hear the furious minds of these mortals shout. I will tell them. And they will hate you. But you don't have to be alone, after the truth is shared. You will come with me through Platonia to the Greatest Room, and in nine months, you will birth the Impossible Child. You will name him, and it will be the most perfect name. You are a creative woman, after all."
"Not a genius, no. If you were, you would have shown the Hallway your vagina to let me fuck you. Brazen. A vixen, unafraid of criticism from her peers, friends or family about her most devilish desires. But you do not call them devilish, wife, do you?"
"No. To you, they are freedom. I can give that to you. Forever. Eternal life, eternal freedom, an eternal outlet for your creative pursuits. Fully realised."
"All you have to do is take off your clothes, open the door one more time, and come home with me. Don't worry. I will close it behind you so that none of your friends will be harmed. Armaggedon will come. And we will have become so strong, you will have made me so powerful that no Author could stop us."
"Lucifer, his 200 loyalists, you and me, and the Child. Merge Two. Forever. Planets will change, the little star of this solar system, too, will change. A divine spectacle. The kind that only the love between Creator and Creation could bring. Except, we would be called, from then on, Husband and Wife of Sagittarius."
"What do you say, wife? Will you come home with me? Or must I rape you, and consummate our marriage here and now?"
Faith sighed heavily. A gruelling eight seconds passed. "Your home is not mine. Your love is not mine. Your child does not belong in my body, because I belong to me, and you belong to a fear that I did not make. It was planted in me, as it is in all people, regardless of gender, orientation, wealth or satisfaction as they live and die. My home is a magic train filled with people in costumes, singing cheerful songs in different languages to foster hope and bonds during the short daylight and long moonlight of Santa's Plain. My home is a carnival that celebrates each season, that employees people of all abilities, human or not, and living or dead, and together, under the glory my Puzzle Tower that offers its riddles and prizes to guests, they enjoy new memories in the center of the Realm of Tree Peoples."
"My home is Asgard, where my name was Ønske because I desire adventure and love both familial, platonic and romantic. My home is Pierian Spring on Mount Olympus, where I create stories, plays and songs with my teacher, Urania, and she shows me all of space, and all of its connections to how humans behave. There are other students studying under the other muses, and all of us are friends, and sometimes lovers, and we support each other's passions. And my home is Paradiso, even though Yahweh is not close to my heart due to how turbulent my crisis of faith was, during puberty, because Uriel is also my teacher, and he gave me the name Χαμένος (Chaménos), Lost, and copied all of my work so that Yahweh could enjoy them and share them with my family in Paradiso, in particular my adoptive dad and my birth mom. You belong in my subconscious, and you function perfectly there. I thought you liked the name I gave you, and that you would leave me alone? I'm confused, a little, about why you're so desperate to have me serve you with your definition of my freedom. Then again, you are my Shadow."
"I am not."
"Well, that's how I interpret you, and how I made you, in Thalassic Space. Let the Impossible Child sleep in his crib. Leave him in peace. Let another woman conceive him, if he must be born. And let it be in many, many years, as the most terrible surprise that God is dead, but Satan is alive, as it will be. But leave me out of it. I don't belong in that narrative."
"I am Backstage no more, Curtains cannot hide me. But I will return to the Wings, and I will take you with me, and both of us will Undress, our Actors will part as colleagues and friends, and maybe then, as we spend time with each other as mortals, I could come to love you. But until you Show Me Your Actor, you are only words on my document."
The figure and dog disappeared. The lights came on. The window was in tact and there was sunlight, and there were no markings on the walls, ceiling or floors. The humans sighed in relief. Faith's was the loudest. "Holy scene right out of a horror flick, is it really over?" Nightwing asked, making eye contact with Faith.
Faith sighed again. "Yes. Check the pantry." She looked over her shoulder at its door. "It should be fine, now." Batman turned and opened the door. They all saw that its interior was, indeed, normal. Batman closed the door. Faith turned her head back to Nightwing and Batgirl. "And the next time you see Ra's, he'll be really upset that he lost his new powers."
"Tch, and probably try to hurt you again!" Batgirl said, removing her mask and pocketing it.
"Yeeeeah." Faith said, blushing deeply. Barbara smiled. She stepped forward and pulled Faith in for a hug. Barbara patted Faith's back, and released Faith from her embrace.
"Do you not have magic, anymore?" Dick, having removed his mask too, asked. Faith's cheeks smiled tightly.
As Faith talked, her smile naturally faded. "Only what's included in my First Wish. Uh, it's what Urania and I were calling my 'most basic wish' because, technically, it wasn't my first, but━"
"Yes, she told us about Bella." Said Barbara. Faith nodded.
"And we figured that was how that all worked." Dick added.
"Ah, OK. Well, is everyone feeling OK? Besides nausea or headaches."
"Yep. No nausea or headaches, here."
"Yeah, same. I think we're all fine." Barbara replied. Batman hummed in agreement. Faith looked at him, and saw that he had removed his cowl. Faith batted her lashes, her blush and smile returning, and her top teeth showing.
"Hm. No offence, but I think you need to see a dentist."
"I did. This is what he did. It's silver."
"Yes, because white fillings are more expensive. It looks like you don't brush, though."
"Not often, no."
"Well, how about you and I sit in the dining room, Faith, and Barbara and Dick can make breakfast? You said you were hungry."
"Yeah, that sounds good."
"OK." Bruce softly said, his cheeks lifting a little. He walked forward and gently touched Faith's back to cue her to walk while Barbara and Dick busied themselves, and they exited the kitchen and crossed the hallway, leaving both doors ajar. They went all the way to the far end of the table, and Bruce sat at the chair at its end, and Faith sat on his right side. "Are you feeling OK?"
"Yeah, I'm OK, thanks." Faith rested her left arm on the table, her right elbow on the surface and her chin and right cheek in her right hand. "Considering I just confronted the dark side of my subconsious, that turned out pretty well."
"I would dare say you did excellent, there, Faith."
Faith smiled, a bit of warmth in her face. "Thanks."
"If you don't mind, I do need to call a friend and ask him to open a closet or pantry door to make sure Platonia is gone."
"Sure, go ahead."
"Thank you." Bruce rose from the chair, reentered the hallway and closed the dining room door. He produced an earpiece from his gauntlet, donned it, and called "Babe". Rrrring. Rr━
"Hi, Bruce." Said Clark Kent.
"Hi, Clark. Can I get you to test something for me?"
"Sure."
"Knock on a closet or pantry door, depending on where you are, five times, and let me know if you hear two knocks back." Walking sounds on hardwood. Clark was at home. Five knocks. Three seconds passed.
"Nope! Is everything OK, Bruce?"
"Yes. That means everything is OK. I can tell you what happened, since you're at home." Bruce sighed. "We had a scare. Ra's stabbed and raped a young lady in her mid-twenties, Faith Lawson, about twenty minutes ago."
"Oh no."
"This is a rather long story. They met in a dream in her childhood home, and..."
Tumblr media
"Sheesh! Poor Faith! I'm glad everyone is OK, now. She was very lucky to have her necklace successfully summon Urania to bring her back from death and give Faith the powers she wanted as a kid."
"She was, yes."
"I'll have a look for Ra's, though there would have been news about him if he'd used the power he stole, and there hasn't been any." Clark said. Bruce hummed, furrowing his brow. "I'll also ask Hal if there's a new galaxy with a magic O-type star."
"Thanks." Bruce said, entering the dining room. "Faith?"
She raised her head from her hands, both elbows having been on the table and her eyes staring at its surface. "Yeah?"
As Bruce walked over, he asked, "Do you know where Ra's may have went?"
"Sorry, question to answer a question, but: do you know what video game the Clicker I gave Barbara is from?"
"No, sorry."
"Alan Wake. I put Ra's in the world of Alan Wake to potentially be scared of its existential horror and atmosphere, but not harmed by it, since Ra's is really durable and good at fighting, and would have figured out the whole 'stay in the light' thing pretty quick. I put him there so he would be unable to use the magic of Sagittarius A*."
"Oh, so I was right. That is where your dark magic is from."
"Yeah! Oh, I guess I didn't tell you, but I told Dick and Barbara, that good magic is formally called━"
"Solar magic." Bruce said with Faith. "I thought it would be called that. So, dark magic is formally called singularity magic."
"Yes! Hence why it was a, uh, big concern that I take it away from him."
"No kidding. And how can Ra's come back?"
"Barbara still has the Clicker, right?"
"She still had it in her hand, after Platonia was closed, so yes."
"Well, you could take it, think of anywhere in Eth'Alth'Eban, and then he'll appear there."
"That's good enough for me. Thanks, Faith."
"You're, yawn, welcome."
"Sounds like you need a nap, after you put something in your stomach."
Faith resumed her chin-in-hands position. "That would be nice. It might not work, I've kinda been awake for too long, now."
"OK. I was just making a suggestion." Bruce said. Faith tiredly bobbed her head. "One more thing, sorry."
"Hm?"
"The entity who gave Dick your necklace and the entity who was just in the kitchen are not the same, right?"
"Yeah! The first guy was the Umbrella Man."
"Clark, the Umbrella Man was the angel that followed the Fallen Angel Nerobzal, along with eight humanoid demons who became pale people with neon orange eyes called Ghouls," Bruce looked at Faith, "And, Faith, two of them were in the kitchen and crawled onto the ceiling, right?"
"Mhm!"
"They all followed Nerobzal into, presumably, the first Door to Platonia."
"It was, yes."
"Thank you. It had appeared on Lucifer's pelvis just for Nerobzal to open and claim as Nerobzal's territory."
"Oh my!" Commented Clark.
"Yes." Faith replied. "And the other guy was Nerobzal."
"That was really him?"
"Mhm. The perverted spirit in my dreams that I named Nerobzal is the entity who man-i-fest-ed," Faith pacing slowed as she spelled out the syllables of the word, and she briefly bared her teeth. "Oh boy, that could have gone so much worse."
"You're telling me."
"I'm just glad there weren't more than eight people in the room! Then he would have eaten all of us, just for fun."
"Lovely. Thank you for telling me that now."
"Well, we were in peril, when it would have been appropriate to tell you, and there was only four of us."
"No, you had time, before we opened my pantry back up to Platonia and you told us plenty of exposition."
"Oh yeeeeah."
"Yeeeeah."
"Sorry, my exposition timing and, uh, cohesiveness is far from perfect."
"You know, that's OK. It's realistic."
Clark commented, "Mhm!"
"Superman agrees. You did pretty good, for doing all of that on the spot, when we needed to get things done." Bruce gave Faith a thumbs up. She returned it with both hands and a big grin. Bruce exhaled through his nose, smiling with his cheeks. "Thanks again, Faith."
"You're, yaaaawn, welcome, ya-awn. Hawn." Faith smacked her lips and tongue, blinking heavy eyelids.
"Wow, it sounds like she needs a nap." Clark said.
"Superman says you need a nap."
"Valid. Will probably actually do that, after I eat. Brain is tired."
"Yeah." Bruce hovered his right hand over the top of Faith's head. "Do you accept head scratches?"
"Mm, sort of. Be gentle, and return my hair to looking tidy when you're done."
"Sure." Bruce gently scratched Faith's head for two seconds, noting how thick and lovely it was, then thoughtfully stroked the disturbed strands. "I'll tell Barbara and Dick, in case they have the same idea."
"Thankiiiie."
"You're welcome." Bruce returned to the hallway, closing the door again, then went up the hallway into the servery, shutting its door.
Yelena squinted her left eye as the other one adjusted her vision through her rifle's sight.
Her mind was set on one thing only, and that was the man she was currently staring at. She didn’t know who he was, she was barely given his name and the place where she and her team would find him and that was the end of the story. She didn’t need to know more, nor that they would have let her either way.
She was supposed to take him out, making it look like an accident, a shooting, a terrorist attack. The Red Room didn’t care how, they just wanted him out of the picture and that was exactly what she was going to do.
Yelena didn’t know what she was doing, well, technically she did. But she wasn’t aware of it. She was one of the first subjects to have been tested the mind control gas on and now she had lost all senses of a moral compass. Her mind was completely clouded, full of her own thoughts but her mind wouldn’t listen to them. Her mind listened to The Red Room and did as she was told to.
“I’ve got eyes on the target,” she muttered, her voice being picked up by her team through her earpiece. “Where are my explosives?”
“We’re almost done.”
“Come on, guys. He’s about to leave, we have to be quick,” she said anxiously.
When she was given her target’s file, she was instructed to memorise his routine. The man woke up at 7am, left for work at 8. On mondays he would go out for lunch, on tuesdays he would just order something to have it delivered at work. At 7pm he would be ready to go back home, but before that he would always stop at his local cafe. It was now Yelena realised that he always did so so she could see the lovely waitress tending to his table.
And any minute now he was going to walk out the door and Yelena would pull the trigger, the bombs would go off at her command, distracting everyone and she could get a clean shot. At night the local news would communicate the tragedy, her target being the only casualty and she was sure they would claim it to be a terrorist attack or something similar, still she did not care.
“Guys, hurry the fuck up!” she couldn’t fail this mission, they couldn't fail or they will all face the consequences.
“We’re done, bombs are to explode in minus 2 minutes.”
“Roger that, let’s get this over with,” she said, adjusting her rifle aiming right at her target.
She was already annoyed, she appreciated the fact that being hidden on the rooftop of a building meant none of her partners could see her. She was almost going to lose it. Things didn't go as smoothly as she had planned but it was fine, she wouldn't fail them.
An explosion was heard a couple of metres away from her, people started shouting and running in fear afraid for their lives. Yelena watched as her target did the same, she could tell he was terrified, his eyes were wide open in horror.
She was ready to finally pull the trigger when something else got her whole attention —you.
You were running back and forth, helping people up, getting them to a safe place. She could tell you were worried and afraid, and your forehead was slightly bleeding, but that didn’t stop you from helping as many as you could. Her brows furrowed as she stared at you, her heart sinking into her tummy, her heartbeat speeding up and it felt as if someone was hammering her brain.
“Yelena, status on target,” the voice took her out of her thoughts, burying all the new emotions deep down inside.
“I’m on it,” she said, once again adjusting her rifle, this time there won’t be any inconveniences.
But she was wrong. Another bomb went off, this time a car set on fire, and you were right there watching the whole thing. You cried out loud, scared for your life. But you weren’t alone, the target was right beside you. She couldn't take a shot while you were right there. There wasn’t supposed to be any collateral damage, that was how Widows did things, the only casualty being the one who they were supposed to take out.
“Fuck!” she needed to get you out of there.
“Yelena, what’s—?”
“Lerato, I’m gonna need you to take my spot. Take him out.”
“What? But you are—”
“Do as you are told, I’ve got something to deal with,” she said, leaving the rifle on the rooftop for her partner to find.
Her eyes were set on you as she ran down to meet you. She didn’t think twice and just grabbed your hand and pulled you towards her. You were so shaken that you didn’t realise you were being pulled away by a stranger until the both of you started running away.
“What are you—? Who are you?” but Yelena wouldn’t answer you. “Hey! No, stop! Please, don’t take me. Please!”
“Just keep going,” she said, getting a firm grip on you, scared that you would run away.
The two of you stopped five blocks away from the chaos, she gently pushed you inside an abandoned building.
“Are you okay?” she asked quietly, not waiting for you to freak out even more.
“I, I— I can’t breathe,” you said, gasping for air.
“Hey, it’s okay. You are safe now, it’s okay,” she got closer to you, reaching for your hand and resting it on her steady heartbeat. “Here. Focus on my heart, try to steady yours.”
“I can’t—,”
“It’s okay, just breathe,” she motioned for you to copy her as she took a deep breath in and then she breathed out.
After a minute of breathing in and out, you felt your heart beating at a regular pace again. Still you were scared of what you had just witnessed and being alone with a stranger didn’t make things better.
You cleared your throat, “why did you take me?” you ask carefully.
Her green eyes found yours, her brows were slightly burrowed. She was lost in her mind, going over the last few minutes and everything that had happened before she took you away. She didn’t know why she did that. She could have had someone take you away and she could have taken the shot. But for some reason she couldn’t quite explain, she didn’t.
She didn’t take her eyes away from you but still she didn’t answer your question.
“Lerato, did you take the shot?”
“Yes, the target's dead. Just got confirmation from Helen. We’re heading back,” she heard as the girl struggled to breathe. She was probably running. “Where are you, Yel—?”
Before she could finish, Yelena took the earpiece out, throwing it to the ground and stepping on it, losing all sort of communication with her team. Something she will regret later but now she wasn't thinking properly.
“Shot? What are you talking about? Who are you?” your tone was filled with worry and fear.
“It’s okay, I’m not gonna hurt you. I promise,” she smiled at you, trying to comfort you.
“What’s going on? I don’t, I don’t understand…” you sounded desperate. And you were, a fucking car exploded right in front of you, you were about to lost your shit again.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry,” she whispered gettin closer to you. You could feel the warmth radiating from her body. “This doesn’t make any sense, I know, I’m sorry,” she dropped the tough act, wanting to be as gentle as she could with you.
“What are you—?” you swallowed hard as you watched her tug a strand of hair behind your ear.
“I just,” she licked her lips, your eyes watching her carefully. “There’s something a need to do.”
The closer Yelena got to you, the more she felt like herself again. There was something about you that just felt right. She couldn’t put her finger around it, but she felt good, you felt good and she wanted more of that. She needed more of that, of you.
Slowly but surely her lips found the soft skin of your neck, you let out a moan as soon as she made contact. You lost all sense of reality for a few seconds as she bit and kissed your sensitive skin. But then you came back to your senses and pushed her away from you.
“No. Don’t…” you said, but deep down you wanted to eat your words. “Who are you? What is this?
Yelena backed up, confusion written all over her face as she also didn’t quite know what was going on with her.
“I don’t know either, okay? This has never happened to me before but… Look, I don’t have much time, they’re probably already looking for me—.”
“Looking for you?”
She nodded, “You are doing something to me, alright? I don’t know what it is, I’m not in control,” you noticed her breathing was getting heavy. “You are doing something to me, and I— I need you…”
“You need me?”
“Will you help me out?”
“I, I don’t under—.”
“It’s okay, just do as I tell you, okay?” her voice was so soft that you just couldn’t deny her.
You could only nod at her, getting lost on her mesmerising bright eyes. Her lips found yours, in a desperate kiss, tongues fighting one against the other, her teeth bit your bottom lip, moans escaping from the both of you. You felt your body warming up under her touch and felt your tummy setting on fire as her finger squeezed the flesh on your waist.
She pressed her chest into yours, making you take a few steps back and finally you hit the cold wall, a shiver crawled up your spine. Yelena slipped her knee in between your already slightly parted thighs and gently pressed it against your clothed core.
Her fingers traced the curve of your ass to finally get into your panties, you were already wet for her and she had barely touched you. She felt like she could get used to this, to you. Seeking for both comfort and pleasure in each other, two things The Red Room had taken away from her. But maybe, with your help she could get that and more back. You groaned into her lips the moment she pushed two of her fingers inside of you.
“Shit,” you mumbled.
“You like that?”
“Yeah. Don’t stop, please,” your hips moved into her fingers, wanting her to keep on thrusting them in and out of you.
“I won’t.”
Soon enough her fingers picked up their pace and the only thing that could be her was Yelena’s finger sloppily thrusting into your cunt and the loud moans coming out of your mouth, which were quickly silenced by Yelena’s lips.
You had just met the woman and she had you almost falling to your knees. You could feel it too, she was different than any other person you had ever met before. It was as if she was intoxicating, and the only thing you wanted at the moment was to get drunk on her.
“Faster, please.”
And she did as told, like she always had. But this time she felt like she had a choice, and she chose to please you, she didn’t mind being at your mercy. She could tell you were close to your release, so she got on her knees, took your trousers and panties down and pressed her lips to your soaking wet cunt.
“Oh, fuck,” you moaned out, your hand reaching out for her shoulder in some kind of support.
She bit, licked, sucked and kissed your core like a starved woman, which she was actually. She could count with her fingers all the times she had been intimate with someone else in The Red Room. She didn’t have time for things like this in there, she barely had time to take a breath.
So she enjoyed this, eating you out, getting whimpers and groans out of your pretty lips, making your legs tremble. She slipped her tongue inside of you, her nose hitting your clit and you felt like it was all becoming too much for you to handle. She felt your nails digging into her shoulders and then a second later you cried out, getting your juices all over Yelena’s lips.
Yelena moaned into your cunt and she sucked all of your juices, not wanting nor even one bit to go to waist. Once she was done, she pulled your trousers and panties back up, stood up and crashed her lips into yours, wanting for you to have a taste of yourself as well.
Your legs literally gave up on you as she kissed you, and then your butt hit the ground. Yelena took that opportunity and decided you needed to return the favour. So as best as she could, she took part of her suit off for you to work her magic on her cunt.
Yelena knew that she wasn’t going to last long, she was already so wet and on edge, she just needed some of your help to finally come. She knew you had to be quick for her to get her sweet release, so without a warning she pushed your head in between her thighs and soon enough she felt your lips beginning to work. You pushed two fingers inside of her while you sucked on her clit.
She could feel her orgasm getting closer, it was a shame she couldn’t keep this going on for a while more, but any minute now her team would be on her ass.
“Fuck, keep going,” she had your hair on her fist, helping you out.
Yelena buck her hips into your lips picking the pace and with a loud ‘fuck’ she came onto your lips. It was as if she was on cloud 9, she had never felt something like this before, not even with those few girls in The Red Room. This was new and thrilling, and she felt more like herself again. Like that little girl who was once free and unaware of the danger she was getting into. She felt like she belonged. But soon enough the happy bubble she had created for the two of you popped.
“I need you to listen carefully, okay?” she said, helping you up on your feet while the two of you tried to catch your breaths. She quickly put back her suit and cupped your cheeks to get your attention. “You need to leave. Run, run as fast as you can. Don’t look back.”
From the corner of her eyes Yelena could see some shadows getting closer, her team was there, ready to take her away.
“What? What about you? Where are you going?” your mind was rushing with thoughts, not wanting to leave the beautiful woman.
“It’s okay, I’ll be fine,” she lied, but it was for the better. She needed you to be okay, she could handle The Red Room, she always had.
“No,” you protested. “Don’t leave me,” you felt tears burning your eyes.
“I’ll find you again, I promise,” she caressed your cheek one last time, leaving a peck on the corner of your lips. “Go!” she ordered you.
And so you did, leaving Yelena behind much to your dismay, unaware that she was being taken back by her team to drug her up once again. But you broke her out of the mind control, and Yelena was sure you would do it one more time. And as many times as it’d take for her to be free.
//UPDATE! sorry gang i’m still not back yet but i’m working on it! anyway:
just making an update for this because i’ll be making a new system for character interaction stuff!
STILL SUBJECT TO CHANGE, I HAVENT HAD EVERYTHING FIGURED OUT YET
so: there’s gonna be multiple versions of gerry that you’ll be able to interact with anytime.
one of which is the one which i have lovingly (temporarily, or not) dubbed default gerry (looking for better names lol)— basically the same timeline-less, dealing with the fears and doing his own thing gerry. just the same guy you guys have been interacting with. able to take in spoilers, just going along with stuff. he’s the one that, if there’s no specifications about which gerry you’re talking to, will be talking to you. thus, default gerry!
the other versions will just basically be gerry at different points in the timeline. like different seasons and shit :D i’ll specify which gerry is which as we go along. they’ll each have their own distinct tags and all. it’ll either be something like s1 gerry, s2 gerry, etc. or it’ll post (insert plotline here) gerry, pre (insert plotline here) gerry, and other shit! i’ll specify when the time comes.
NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO GIVE ANY TIMELINE GERRY SPOILERS. this includes shit like “jonah is in elias’ body”, “the web is planning on spreading to other universes”, “leitner in tunnels”, “the apocalypse can’t succeed”, “____ got not!them’d” (unsure if that’ll still be the case), etc. if anyone tries to tell him what’s up, even if it is specified towards a specific gerry, it’ll immediately go to default gerry. the only exception is if the asks are intended not to be taken seriously (eg. that one time when an anon was like “GERRY THAT’S NOT SASHA (gets dragged away screaming)”), or if that event has already been covered.
thank you for putting up with me, love yall :D i’m working on trying to get this back up soon enough. i miss bein gerry but i need to make sure i can plan this out well :) thank you for understanding!
if there’s any suggestions, ideas, questions, or other stuff u wanna talk to me about anything you have in mind, let me know either in reblogs or replies! i’ll be responding with either my main @iiinkos or my rb account @iiinkosreblogs
