As they booked the cabin in the woods to escape the sorrowful town they have lived in, the chaos never seemed to fade away. MC, looking at her phone in disbelief, waiting for Richy's message where he texts her he's okay, is trapped in making a strenuous decision.

He wasn't going back wasn't he? The memories flooded back to her like a relentless storm. The MC's heart raced as she relived the chilling moment when she witnessed her friend Richy being viciously attacked. The sight of him coughing blood, his eyes reflecting a mix of fear and pain, haunted her every thought. She clenched her fists, feeling the anger and helplessness surge within her. The MC's determination to seek justice for Richy burned brighter amidst the darkness of the town she was about to make a decision to go in.

Her mind told them to continue searching for Hannah. That's what she promised to Jake.

Her heart on the other way... It was screaming to her to go there. To be with them. It wasn't fair she was watching from afar how her friends suffered and were constantly exposed to the danger as she was powerless sitting at home.

The clock was ticking.

Tac.

MC: Save me a bed.

Jessy: Whaaat?

Cleo: Are you coming in duskwood?

MC: You don't really think I would let you guys go alone.

Thomas: You sure?

MC: Of course. I'm packing my bags right now. See you there.

Lilly: Text me when you get in duskwood, I'll pick you up.

MC: Great

Lilly is now offline.

Jessy: See you soon!!

Jessy is now offline.

Thomas, Cleo and Dan are now offline.

She packed her bags taking the most important things she could think of and ran straight to the train station.

She got on the train and sat down looking at the window when her phone buzzed.

Jake is now online.

'You've got to be kidding me' she humbled.

Jake: You're not going anywhere.

MC: too late

Jake: Where are you?

MC: Two stops away from the destination

Jake: You promised.

MC: I don't expect you to understand. It's not your friend who died in the forest.

Jake is now offline.

'Great...'

The train stopped once in Colville when a face so strange yet so familiar walked in. After a few hours the phone rang.

Jake is now online.

Jake: I will be there too.

Jake is now offline.

Dan is now online .

Dan: Yo what?

Dan: That is something hackerboy.

She looked up from her phone straight at the mystery man. He smirked at her, standing up to get off at the next stop: Duskwood.

After she got off the train she looked around just to realise that the man was nowhere to be seen.

he disappeared.

Just like that.

'Hmm, that was strange" she whispered.

Lilly: Where are you?

MC: Just got off the train.

Lilly: Pick you up in front of the cafe?

MC: I'll be there in 5.

When she got there Lilly was already out of the car and ran straight to her.

"It's so good to see you!"

"Oh my goodness, same to you"

"We should get going, let's not let the others wait"

"Of course, open the trunk first, please"

After they finished piling MC 's luggage in the back, they left to Roger's Garage, where they would also meet the others.

Her head was full of thoughts. That man. The hut. Jake. Richy. What would the others think of her? The wall of ideas was shattered by Lilly when she broke the silence.

"Have you spoken to Jake in the meantime?"

"No... Not yet." I sighed.

"Well, you will soon" Lilly said with a sweet smile.

"Well, yeah I guess, I know he's mad but we have to continue the investigation."

Lilly looked at her smiling innocently, continuing to drive the roads that seemed so familiar to MC: this is where Jessy was attacked, this is where Dan worked, oh and this is where Jessy's brother Phil works. The town felt like home for a couple of minutes.

When the car arrived at the garage, a strange feeling surrounded her. She got out of the car and looking at the others she ran to hug Jessy.

"I can't believe you're actually here, MC."

"Me neither to be fully honest"

"I thought your hackerboy didn't allow you to be here" Dan said laughing.

"Oh well, I'm here, that's all that matters"

"So am I."

She looked around in the midst of jokes and chatter among her friends, a sudden hush fell over the group as a faint sound caught the MC's attention. With a quick turn of her head, her gaze locked onto the figure of a man, standing at the edge of the clearing. Time seemed to stand still as their eyes met, a mix of surprise and longing reflected in his expression. The forest around them seemed to hold its breath, creating a moment suspended in uncertainty and unspoken emotions.

"Jake."

"Hello, MC."

Her cheeks turned pink and her heart was pounding. She felt the eyes of her friends peeling off her skin as they maintained the eye contact.

Let's Talk About Saving Fics

Previously I only saved fics under two circumstances:

A fic was deleted or going to be deleted and I found/saved a copy

I was going on a long plane ride and wanted to read offline

I think I typically saved as an epub and then used the Books app on Mac (iphone and computer) to read.

On my last long flight I was SHOCKED and APPALLED that Books wouldn't let me read stuff, even when I had downloaded the file, because I was not connected to the internet. I am not sure what bullshit this is but didn't really have time to figure it out since I was already on the flight at that point and that was just earlier this month.

So, if you save fics:

What format do you use to save them? I feel like .pdf would be best for long-term, but terrible for reading on a phone, which is where I typically do my reading.

What program/app do you use to read them?

I would appreciate any tips. I have Mac and iPhone, but I'm sure PC folks would appreciate tips as well.

I started reading fanfic back in the days when it was shared via email, in self-extracting archives if it got too big to attach. Thinking we might need to go back to email exchanges to tide us over until our beloved AO3 returns.

A/N: It's the customary Quincey chapter! This time with a little Evander twist... It's way past Christmas at this point but this is the second to last chapter and I'm hoping to post the last one as soon as I'm able. This story had a lot of moving parts and I've had to leave many things out simply because I haven't had the time to write. If you're sick of Christmas stuff already, I acknowledge your suffering but I do not apologize😂

Chapter 6: Two Sides of the Same Coin

Quincey

Quincey could safely say that he was not having a good day. Of course, he understood that Dawn wasn’t used to the kind of rigorous protocol that life at court demanded but what he couldn’t understand was why he had insisted on going out on some crazy adventure the previous night. Anything could have happened. After the unpleasant meeting at Pince’s office, Quincey went through the notes his mother had made to his speech and resolved to deal with it later. He really had to talk to Dawn. Nothing had gone according to plan ever since Dawn had arrived. He came to the smaller sitting room, holding out hope that Dawn would be there when he heard Olympia’s voice.

“Still at it?” she was asking.

“Silence, cousin,” came Evander’s voice as a reply. “I’m getting there.”

“Are all those coffee mugs yours?”

“And mine,” said Dawn’s aunt Tess.

“Anything I can do?” Olympia asked.

“Develop malware for me to drop into their RDP…” said Evander and that was when Quincey decided to stop eavesdropping and enter the room.

“Good morning,” he said, and all three people suddenly jumped, like there’d been an explosion.

“Quincey!” said Olympia. “How lovely to see you.”

Quincey frowned. “What are you doing?”

“Oh,” said Evander. “I was just introducing your dear sister and Miss Brandon to the intricacies of cryptocurrency so maybe we could all come together and save the kingdom.”

Quincey ignored the sarcasm in his voice. “Have any of you seen Dawn?”

“Not since last night,” said Tess.

“Well, damn,” said Quincey.

“Is everything alright?” Olympia asked.

“I don’t know…”

That’s when the double doors were pulled open with haste and Miss Pince came in, Miss Yaxley in tow.

“Has anyone seen Mr. Harvelle?”

“That’s what I was wondering,” mused Quincey.

“You mean to tell me he’s not here?” asked Pince.

“Well, I’m not hiding him in my pocket,” said Evander but Pince did not find this amusing.

“He has to be found,” said Rosa. “The queen is going ballistic over the wedding preparations.”

“I’m half of the equation, maybe I can help,” Quincey offered.

“No, the queen said Mr. Harvelle must be there,” said Pince.

“It’s almost like it would be her wedding…” said Quincey with a sigh.

Quincey found his mother in the room reserved for wedding planning, outfitting, and all those other things that his mother seemed to think she had some sort of control over. The outfit Quincey assumed Dawn was supposed to wear was on a mannequin. It was very traditional, nothing like he’d imagine Dawn would pick for himself. He realized he hadn’t the foggiest idea what his mother, Miss Yaxley, and Dawn had been up to with the wedding preparations. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling.

“Dawn’s missing?” he asked his mother as he entered. There was nobody else in the room but them.

“He did not show up for his fitting.”

“I’ll call him,” said Quincey.

“His phone is offline.”

That was worrying. Quincey tried it anyway, but true enough, he only got a message saying the phone had been turned off.

“Well,” said the queen. “I sincerely hope we won't have to cancel the wedding.”

“Stop,” said Quincey.

“Maybe he has finally realized that the pressures of court are too much for him,” said Isabella, forlornly.

“You’re certainly not helping,” Quincey sighed. “Is that what he’s supposed to wear?”

“Yes. I had a hand in its design.”

“I’ll ask Flitwick to look into Dawn’s whereabouts,” said Quincey. “And mother?”

“Yes?”

“You can forget about that costume. I’ll have a word with Miss Yaxley. I sincerely hope that it’s not too late to make this wedding mine and Dawn’s, and not whatever you’ve been doing behind my back.”

Isabella looked shocked. “Quentin, I’ve only been trying to help you.”

“I know, and I truly appreciate the help,” he said. “Especially when it comes to the financial situation. But I never asked your help in this.”

“Alright,” said Isabella. “I admit, I did get a little carried away.”

“A little?”

“Fine,” said Isabella. “A lot.”

“But you can help me find Dawn now,” said Quincey.

“I would be glad to.”

The palace had its fair share of hiding places and so, a lot of the staff were requested to keep an eye out for the run-away groom, but Quincey had an idea of his own of where to look. He headed to the courtyard.

“Dawn!” he called out between the hedges.

“No such luck,” said Olympia, dressed up against the cold in her light pink winter coat. “I figured I might also look here.”

“Oh, hey,” said Quincey but his spirits were immediately lowered.

“Don’t worry, we’ll find him.”

“I’ve been such a fool,” said Quincey.

Olympia walked up to him and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

“I screwed up,” he said, miserably.

“What happened?” asked Olympia.

“Dawn’s been having a hard time adjusting to everything here and I’ve been too invested in my duties as king to be supportive.”

“You’ve had a falling out?”

“Just when he needed me most, I caved in to the crown.”

Olympia sighed, seemed to think about something for a while, and then said: “After father died, and you left us to go soul-searching, I was so angry with you…”

“O, I…”

“…At first. But then I realized this life we find ourselves in, the titles and responsibilities we bear, can overwhelm any person, especially a good-hearted one.”

“I've allowed it to happen,” said Quincey.

“You accepted your title with eyes wide open, with the best intent. And that's the brother I love.”

“I've made such a mess of everything.”

“Thanks to Dawn, and I can’t believe I have to say this, Evander, I think we have an actual shot at fixing the country’s problems,” Olympia said.

“What?”

“I’ll explain later,” Olympia said. “Just trust me. All you should focus on right now is finding your fiancé.”

Quincey thought about it. The thing was that he did trust Olympia with his life, but this wasn’t just about him. He had been the one to swear an oath to serve and protect all of his subjects and right now he was doing a piss-poor job of it.

“Please, Q,” said Olympia.

Quincey sighed. “There is one more place he could be in.”

“Yeah?”

“I’m going to need Archimedes.”

His father’s old hunting cabin’s windows were lit when Quincey and Archimedes arrived. He stabled the horse and entered the cabin, finding Dawn sat in front of a small fire, drinking hot chocolate.

“Dawn,” he said when Dawn didn’t make a move at the sound of the door.

“I'm so sorry,” he tried again. “Talk to me.”

Finally, Dawn turned around, demanding: “Now you want to talk? You had nothing to say when I needed you in Pince's office.”

“I know.”

“They want me to give up everything, Quincey. My voice, my career.”

“I thought you didn’t want to be a journalist anymore,” said Quincey.

“That’s not the point!” said Dawn. “The point is that I’m supposed to act like a goddamn ornament in one of your over-the-top Christmas trees and that’s not me!”

“Forget about everyone else,” said Quincey. “This should be about you and me.”

Dawn got up from the armchair. He didn’t look pleased. “I always thought that you would support me, and this week has just been so tough.”

“Dawn, please…”

“Just let me finish, okay?” said Dawn and Quincey shut up. “Everything is changing. I feel like I'm losing control and… I'm not used to living like this. This fishbowl, this distance between us,” he finished, taking a deep breath.

“I know it's hard,” said Quincey. “Trust me, I know.”

“It’s not the same for us, though,” said Dawn.

“Everything is changing. For both of us,” said Quincey, stepping closer to Dawn. When Dawn didn’t pull away, he took his hands. “But there is one thing that will never change: My love for you.”

“Shut up,” said Dawn. “You’re not sweet-talking your way out of this one.”

“I don’t want you to have to sacrifice anything to be with me,” Quincey continued. “Your talent, your creativity, your determination… But some things are out of my control.”

“Like my little mission last night?” Dawn asked.

“You could have been hurt,” said Quincey. “The country isn’t exactly approving of us at the moment.”

“That might have been a miscalculation on my part.”

“But I need you,” said Quincey. “And Alderly needs you, too.”

“Well, it has a funny way of showing it,” Dawn said. “I’ve been nothing but a glorified wedding planner–, no not even that. I’ve been standing in the sidelines while our wedding has been planned for us.”

“Yes,” said Quincey. “About that. I had a chat with mother. The wedding’s going to see some changes.”

“What?” asked Dawn. “You did?”

“Well, it all got a bit much, don’t you think?”

“I very much do think that, yeah,” said Dawn.

“How come you came here?” asked Quincey. They hadn’t been back together since the snowstorm last year, though Quincey had visited on his own.

“I just wanted something to feel Christmassy,” Dawn explained. “So I stole some of the biscuits meant for our wedding and came here.”

Quincey laughed. “Okay, that’s actually fair enough.”

“It hasn’t really felt too festive here, recently.”

“I know.”

Dawn bit his lip. “I’d like to have an active role in the family. I don’t want to be just an ornament.”

“You won’t be. I don’t want that either.”

Dawn sighed and reached to touch Quincey’s face. He hadn’t entirely forgiven him; Quincey wasn't foolish enough to believe that. But at least he hadn’t told him to fuck off, so he considered it a start. “Alright, we need to get back to the palace, now and see if Evander has saved the country.”

Quincey decided not to question it, for now.

Evander

Evander had commandeered a couch after his back began to protest, sitting at the table. Dawn’s little laptop was putting in the works and Evander sincerely hoped it wouldn’t give out now. He decided to give Dawn a proper laptop as a wedding present, until he remembered he was pretty much broke. Maybe he could sell the ugly cabin in the mountains his mother had gotten him one Christmas. Evander looked up when he heard someone enter the room, but it was just Tess, bringing another round of coffee. The table was starting to fill with mugs.

“Here,” she said, handing the other to him.

Evander took it. “Oh, thanks…”

Tess was pretty much the only person who had been nice to him this entire time, which was odd, since she had no reason to. Unless she was secretly adding poison to his coffee, or that weird herbal tea she had made him the other night. He had slept like a baby the first time in months after it but that had only made him doubly suspicious. He sniffed the coffee, cautiously.

“No herbs,” said Tess. “Just coffee.”

“So just like the previous three.”

Tess nodded. “Just like them.”

Evander eyes her and then the coffee. “Okay.”

“How are you doing?” she asked, still standing up.

“I found a promising lead, but I can’t crack it,” said Evander. “At least, not yet.”

“Damn.”

Evander resolved that the coffee probably wasn’t poisoned. He took a sip. “You make surprisingly good coffee.” Considering the tea tasted like shit, but he didn’t say that part out loud.

Tess chuckled, quietly. “Thanks, though I think it’s probably just that you people have quality coffee here. I don’t normally drink it an awful lot.”

“Could be,” said Evander. “You should consider adding coffee to your selection.”

Just as a suggestion. For all the other people who didn’t like suspicious herbs. He didn’t know much about Tess’s business, other than that he found all the herbal teas horrid but for some reason it was relatively successful.

“I’ll consider it,” said Tess. “If we don’t go to jail for this.”

She motioned vaguely at the computer on Evander’s lap.

“Don’t worry, if I get caught, I won’t bust you.”

“I appreciate that,” Tess mused. “But I think we’re sort of in this together, now.”

Evander didn’t say anything while Tess sat next to him, pulling a blanket on her legs. He thought she was pretty but pretty in a way his mother wouldn’t approve of. Kind of like Rosa was but somehow, he had a feeling like his mother would approve of Tess even less. The only person he could conceive of his mother approving was Diana Somerset but that had been doomed from the start, and Evander was happy she’d turned down his proposal.

He hadn’t spoken to his mother in months and in a way, he missed her a little. It had been about time to cut the cord, though. To find out what he actually wanted for himself. One thing he had learned was that it sucked to be poor and lonely. He missed his family. Especially his entitled royal cousins who he’d never even really liked before. And he knew that he couldn’t trust the country to Quincey’s hands alone when the man had gone to a fucking liberal arts school. Deep down he felt bad, too. Bad about what he had done to him and how he’d left things. He had put himself first and not Alderly, as he should have done. The right thing to do would have been to be there for Quincey and help him, instead of listening to his mother, but that was a lesson learned.

Tess leaned in closer so she could see the computer screen better. Evander was pretty sure she didn’t have experience on the hacking front, but he appreciated another pair of eyes, and maybe he also appreciated her presence. She smelled nice. He felt immensely tired. It had been almost ten hours and they still had pretty much nothing. He felt his focus drift and drank more coffee. He wasn’t exactly sure how much time passed, when Tess suddenly grabbed his wrist and pointed at the screen.

“What’s that?” she asked.

Evander examined the piece of code. “If I just follow this strand…” he said quietly.

Tess let go of his hand so he could continue typing.

“Is this…” he started as the computer did exactly as he had wanted it to.

“Oh my god,” said Tess.

“I think I’m in!” said Evander and jumped up from the couch in excitement. He had almost given up hope so he couldn’t quite believe this plan might actually stand a chance in hell at working.

Tess got up as well and said: “Holy crap,” with a delighted laugh. She did a little jump and clapped her hands together. Evander, high off of his achievement, kissed her cheek before thinking better off it. The pair looked at each other for a fraction of a second. Then Evander cleared his throat and sat back down, grabbing the computer.

“It’s not over yet,” he said, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. “This is pretty time sensitive.”

“Right, yeah, of course,” said Tess. She also sat back down, and Evander was careful not to look at her. Maybe he had been wrong. Maybe his mother would like her. Tess was pretty smart, after all.

Half an hour later Olympia, Rocky, and Pandora returned, presumably from searching for a certain run-away groom.

“We're in,” Evander said.

“What?” asked Pandora. “Seriously?”

“I honestly didn’t think you had it in you,” said Rocky with a yawn. It seemed Evander and Tess weren’t the only ones in need of a nap.

“Shut up and come see,” he said, and the newcomers gathered around the couch Evander and Tess had occupied, to see the screen. All the information pertaining to the companies was there for them to see. Silently Evander echoed Rocky’s sentiment though. After almost ten hours he’d begun to think that maybe he had overestimated his abilities.

“What does it say about those three companies?” asked Rocky.

“Each are listed as a division of this... Glockenspiel Consortium,” said Evander.

“Glockenspiel?” wondered Olympia. “What's that?”

“It could be a parent company, or a shell, used to funnel the money to a foreign entity,” Evander said. It would make sense why neither he nor Olympia had ever heard of it, despite being Alderlian.

“You have a disturbing knowledge of underhanded activities,” Olympia said but there was distinctly less venom in her voice than there had been before, so Evander didn’t take it too personally.

“That would explain why so little of the money's staying in Alderly,” said Tess, who had a much more comprehensive grasp of how businesses worked than dear cousin Olympia.

“Perhaps if we dig a little bit deeper into Glockenspiel…” said Evander, clicking further into the files. “Oh, shit…”

Everyone had seen it; Evander could tell from their shocked expressions.

“I can’t believe it,” said Olympia.

“What are we going to do now?” asked Pandora.

“Quincey’s gone to look for Dawn. He might be a while,” said Olympia.

“We’re going to wait for the king to get back,” said Evander. “He needs to hear this before we do anything.”

“HOW DOES MOBILE APPS BECOME PART OF MY DAILY LIFE?”

Given that we currently live in the modern era. Anyone has access to the internet through their smartphones, which are truly important to people's everyday tasks nowadays. It can be used for a wide range of purposes, including education, online businesses, and many other things, where it can be applied as fundamental information to many facets of life.

I can't deny that I still have many things to learn about the course I have been chosen for, even if I decided to pursue a degree in information and communications technology and become a teacher soon. Although it may be difficult to evolve, I hope to see an exciting future, five years or ten years from now on. My aim is to provide important information to my incoming students regarding the significance of using mobile apps and the possible advantages as well as disadvantages that may occur for them.

And now for the very interesting part. I created this blog because I was interested to discuss some of mobile apps that I use the most and provide honest feedback based on my experience dealing those apps carefully and using them in the right manner. Let us start and see! 😁👀

Here's the list of my TOP 10 MOBILE APPS THAT I AM USING IN MY EVERYDAY LIFE:

Facebook is the leading app I am using everyday. Why? Because, I discovered that I could socialize with people using this app in many ways other than face-to-face interactions, such as reacting and commenting to their posts, sharing memes that I saw on newsfeeds and could apply to my real-life status, joining various group pages to share my knowledge, selling things that can generate a profit and starting a business, and a ton of other freely made things.

Google comes in second. This app is already available on all cellphones that you could purchase. However, when it comes to complete my schoolwork and other assignments on time, that's when it becomes resourcefulness for me. I should not really 100% trusted this app, because, there are some things aren't true to know or can be lead into “misinformation” like in the website of Wikipedia. That's why, sometimes, I love to do my self-tasks alone.

The Messenger, the third one. It was an app that linked to Facebook, making it simpler to send messages to people you knew. I have been using this to connect with my teacher and classmates ever since the pandemic. It can't be access whenever I'm offline but, there's another variant of this app which is called, “Messenger Lite” that even basic mode can still access. Unlike the regular version, I guess.

The next one is YouTube. Through this app, I can watch the daily news that I couldn't watch on TV, to gather an additional information about the lessons in school I think it's hard to be understood, have a good time to watch those missed music videos that came from my favorite artists and so much more things to do.

For the fifth place, Spotify is always there at my phone to save me every time. When I listen to songs out there, it makes me heal from everything I pissed off. But, unfortunately, data or Wi-Fi is needed for this app. That's why sometimes, I listen to my download songs playlist. Whenever I don't have an internet to be used it. This kind of music streams is the best app that I had in my whole life and also, you can subscribe for its premium version (just optional only, if you want to remove ads while having a sound trip alone or with your family everywhere, especially, at home).

The two apps next to Spotify are named, “Microsoft Office 365” and “Canva.” Both are eligible to be used and finished on time, the tasks you want to overcome in everyday life. It makes me assist like an instructor that you can learn a lot from these two apps. That's why, I'm thankful that they created a superior & perfect app for every person who have a struggling problems that unable to solve when it comes to work that include time management.

The eighth one is “Google Chrome” that designed to be that's fastest web browser. With one click, it loads web pages, multiple tabs, and applications with lightning speed. Whenever I'm using this app, there will be always ads popping up. So, as a result, I easily annoyed sometimes but, we can't deny the fact that ads is everywhere, even for those online gamers can relate. As what I said, it allows me to set up tabs as many as I can, just in case I needed those pages.

While, the two left apps on my list are called, “MVLE Mobile” and “Google Classroom.” These two educational purpose apps makes me help to fulfill the tasks that I should be finished on time. Aside from that, they're lessons can pin and students can able to download it then, having a takes notes. So, just in case, our instructors may ask some questions about the lessons we read about the learning materials s/he has given through online access.

As I end of my discussion about my experience that I shared here to those TOP 10 mobile apps that I am usually using everyday. I gained a lot of knowledge to them and since everything we use nowadays are related to technology. We can't force ourselves to be able silence but, to inform other people these apps are having an advantages and disadvantages at the same time. But, I would like to say that, “Be a responsible mobile apps user, especially when you're in social media. Think hard first before you click anything, not everything you may see are true. Just be careful with yourself and others that may affect, if ever you do wrongdoings that's not acceptable in our society.”

how to copy a CD to your computer via iTunes

So you want to copy a CD to your computer, but you don't know how to do this! Never fear, it is very easy to do. This will be very detailed because I am assuming that some of you youngsters have never done this. I have been doing this since, like, 2003 when I first got an iPod. This method allows you to have the files on your computer, to add them to an iPod or to add them to your iPhone. You can also copy the files out of the iTunes media library and add them to anything else you'd like manually. For this post, I will be doing this in iTunes for mac, but you can also do this in iTunes for windows. It will just look slightly different. So here it goes:

Step 1: install iTunes on your computer. If you have a mac, you already have it, as it is a default system program. it will be called "music" if you have a newer mac. I have an old mac so it's called iTunes on mine. If you are on windows you can get iTunes for free here on the apple website.

Step 2: Have a CD drive in your computer or externally attached. If you have a modern computer that does not have a CD drive, you can purchase an external one that you can attach via usb. There are many examples that you can purchase via Newegg for as low as $20 USD. You can also buy an old computer (typically one ca. 2013 or earlier) and it will likely still have one onboard. Ebay is an excellent place for that. I use my 2012 macbook pro for this.

Step 3: Obtain a CD. You can do this for free by going to your local public library and checking some CDs out. Otherwise, you can buy them used inexpensively at local record stores, estate sales or thrift shops. You may also buy them new via an artist's show, their bandcamp page, their website or a local record store. Do what works for you. Personally I copy lots of library CDs.

Step 4: Put the CD into your CD drive.

Step 5: Open iTunes. Sometimes depending on how your iTunes is set up, your computer may actually pop up with a dialog box asking you if you want to import the CD via iTunes. If this happens, click "Yes". iTunes may also prompt you with the CD when you open it. Otherwise, when you open iTunes you can click on the little CD icon in the top ribbon, which takes you to a page that looks like this:

click "Yes" iTunes will then import the CD to your library. The CD, depending on age may not pop up with the correct (or any) metadata. That is, it may not have song titles, album art, artist names etc etc. That's OK, because you can fix that yourself. iTunes will make a little noise when it is finished importing and will pop you back to your library with the new album imported.

Step 6: Eject the CD

Step 7: Fix any metadata. You can do this by right clicking on the album which gives you this context menu:

Step 8: This gives you a dialog box that looks like this:

in this box, you can manually type whatever you want into all of the fields. This will edit the information for ALL songs in the album. If you want to edit a single song, open the album and right click on the song, and select "song info" in the context menu. The dialog looks just like this:

In these boxes you can also add album artwork uploaded from any jpg or png on your computer, you can add lyrics, whatever notes you want etc. It saves this information with the file.

Congrats! You've copied a CD to your computer. If you want to locate the actual MP3 files, they can be found in Music < iTunes media < Music < "Artist Name" on mac. In Windows, you'll find them in Music <iTunes < iTunes media < Music < "Artist Name" Since you copied them from a CD, they are not DRM protected files and you can do whatever you want with them afterwards.

Another fun fact: you can also do this with audio books on CD. Your local public library almost certainly has a lot of these, and if you are going on a trip where you internet connection might not be good, having them as offline files on your phone might be a good solution for you!

After a 7-day unexpected, unintentional detox from the Internet (thanks to that stormy Tuesday night last week), I'm finally back online. I felt like I experience a glimpse of the worst case scenario if the Earth was hit by a huge solar storm. Thank goodness my introversion saved me from that my so-called OnLinE dEpEnDeNcY—where most of the personal time was heavily spent on the Internet or being online, as a way of day-to-day survival. (lol for making this one up OR the term was already existed and used in professional works)

What did I do?

I drank my morning coffee to start the day. Those times I have no phone as my daily newspaper.

I did my exercise routine every morning.

I check my phone every single second for the Internet's connectivity.

Offline games are heroes. Thanks to Plants vs. Zombies and Bookworm. These two games are already installed in our laptop and brought back nostalgia.

I fixed my closet and cabinet.

I watched Korean drama yet I have not finished a whole drama (because it's too boring and I just think of dropping it). I have A LOT of dramas in my waiting list; They're just saved on a folder.

I solved lot of Sudoku puzzles.

I spent some of my time playing guitar—learning new songs or just basically playing songs I already knew (preferably most of them are Taylor Swift's).

I slept, for like just one day.

I wandered around my home vicinity and explore for something interesting.

Most of my time was actually listening to music. This is my life saver.

Then, REST. RINSE. REPEAT.

Kinda boring, right? To be honest, it would be rewarding if I killed my time on particular skills that I can used someday but the sad truth is, I have no skills or talents that I can be proud of. I'm just barely living. An average survivor, finding the real purpose in this life of mine. About writing, I'm skeptical about it; I don't think my future's on it as well. But I'm trying, at least.

Now that I'm back online, I think I still do what I did in the past 7 days since some of them are actually hobbies.

I think I should explore more about myself.

Some of my favorite games, first has to be Alice: Madness Returns. Not only do the game and the games version of Alice sort of inspire Heather and Vincent’s characters. (Vincent I feel has grow into the male verison of Alice Liddell as he has emerged from his cocoon of villian and had turned into a beautiful anti-hero moth. While Alice’s impromptu trips into Wonderland she makes through the game and her “powers” were inspirational to Heather’s creation. I believe from day one I was pulling from Madness Returns for Heather’s character.)

ANYWAY, besides that. I love this game’s story, it actually the sequel to American McGee’s Alice, but I really like Madness Returns because the story of the game is just *Cheif’s Kiss* fantastic in my mind. I feel like there are a lot of dark retellings of Alice in Wonderland which can either be a hit or miss, but this one does it so well. In the first game, Alice is fighting to save Wonderland from the Jabberwock and the Queen of Hearts, personifications of Alice’s survivor’s guilt and all of the negative emotions and thoughts respectively. After defeating them, saving Wonderland, all a metaphor for her mental health, Alice is release from Rutledge Asylum, where she had been since the fire that claimed the lives of her parents and sister. A fine story, but Madness Return's is so much better. Come to find out after years of thinking she is to blame for the fire, and once again Alice must save Wonderland as a train (of all thing?) is destroying the land by reclaiming her memories from the night she lost her family, and remember that really cause their family’s death. And the truth is REALLY fucked up. At least it was to a little middle school aged me when I first encouraged it.

I also really like Hades, and am excited for the second one. Prolly should try to finish the first game though. But I like Hades cause I’m not good at video games, but Hades does reward you for failing. To level yourself up you have to die. and I like Greek Mythology so it’s fun.

I also like a weird phone game called Simulacra. I know there were two other games that came out after it, Simulacra 2 and Simulacra: Pipe Dreams, but the first one is the best cause of what you don’t know until the very end of the game. Which the other two have a very similar forum but with the same “twist” that the player already knows is coming because of the first game. But the first Simulacra is great. it’s an interesting commentary on the different persona we create for our online presence vs our offline self. I wrote a paper on it in college for one of my digital media classes.

Finally my friend at work has got me hooked on Skyrim. I’m like ten years late to this game it would seem, but I’m having a romp through this fantasy game. I have little idea what’s happening to be honest as I am basically a murder hobo, walking from city to city, but somehow I have like 30000 gold now. I know there is a plot, but my ADHD brain just distracted by all the caves with bandits, undead, and vampire to fight that I forget the quest I set off to do. I think I got like 70 hours into the game until I actually did something for the main quest killed a dragon and got the shouty powers.

Thanks for the kind words. I try to be fairly open about my experiences instead of hiding them so they can't hold as much power over me. Admittedly I do much better when I speak of something I've already processed and intellectualized, rather than something I'm actively feeling.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, I can't imagine how much that hurt and still hurts. I hope you've found a way to cope and honor their memory. I really appreciate you sharing that with me.

Quite a few of the songs on it where ones I've known and loved for ages and there were I few I didn't recognize, but fell for. Now I have them saved to my phone for offline and no-data enjoyment (gotta love being from Appalachia, where the internet and cellular infastructure is underdeveloped).

I'll get started on the playlist then since I'm off work today and tomorrow! I'll send a link when I have it done!

Besides, it’s been a while and at that point we’ve been out of touch for a couple of years - first us changing friend circles and then me moving continents. There’s just this inkling of annoyance that’d come up from time to time i.e “the band you liked are back together and touring again, we could’ve gone seen them bitch”.

Oh, nice. Yeah, a lot of the tracks are from the good ‘ol teenage angst years that seemed to have fit quite well and some that I've discovered later. (imo streaming is unreliable most places, esp during travel, I still keep whole albums on my phone and rotate them every so often)

Ok first one's easy, and boring, I never changed the Fairphone default

Focus mode is on which means it'll turn off the evil apps including tumblr every five minutes if I don't remember to go offline xD we're seeing how well that's deterring me xD (tho no rly if I had to be productive the reminder is vry useful bc without it I'd stay glued to the phone without noticing), also note the alert to remind me to brush my damn teeth (I never remember in the mornings even with alerts so I'm trying for after lunch and in the evenings)

Last song I listened to... Well, last full song definitely D.O.P.A.M.I.N.E. which I've just managed to learn by heart in only two days even tho it's french and I had to look up quite a number of words to even know what they mean xD I listened to it on repeat while cleaning the flat... Alright so, another update.

Laptop located. It's as good as my current desktop, if not slightly better, and has a fuckhuge batter I can charge at work. And I should be able to get the same or more money from selling my desktop and most of the accessories. It's a damn near even trade price wise. And since I'll have no roommate and be parked far enough from people that I won't disturb them, I can start streaming more. Add on the fact that my laptop will be the entirety of my entertainment aside from my phone and I just have more reason to. Checked my current phone service, since that's how I'll be doing it and all of my parking spots should have the ability to stream, if just barely. Thankfully, one is also a Walmart with free wifi, and once the employees leave around 10, that shits quick. Though streaming high intensity games is gonna be out. Mostly small indie games with last generation's graphics. Not that I have an issue with that, I grew up on those.

Plus there's still small time indie games like Cult of the Lamb, which is fuckin great and tiny enough to stream on mobile data alone.

I can also pick up my batteries locally, which is a huge help. From one of four places I'll be able to access easily after work. While it's not perfect yet, it's damn close. And now my creepy roommate is just getting worse. So I gotta get the hell outta here asap. Debating on staying with family, but I'm not willing to dump that extra stress on em. But if I go offline for like a week before getting the van, for which I'll be doing a massive update to the blog so count on that, then assume he killed me. Because I'm legitimately thinking that might happen.

Anyway, back to positive stuff, turns out with the people who move into vans/cars out of necessity, what I'm doing is pretty common. Not around here, but across the US, UK, Canada and more countries. So on top of the wealth of knowledge that is my coworkers, I have the globe to look at for advice and inspiration. Gonna go with the cheapest possible AC, a cooler with a fan filled with ice. And my uncle is gonna donate his propane heater. So my already super low costs just keep getting lower. And that means I should be able to save enough for a house more quickly. Though I may need an additional solar panel if I don't want to be dependent on stores selling ice. But there's also coolers out there that aren't horribly high usage and aren't horribly expensive. Plus I won't really need a full on ac till next year anyway. It'll feel cheaper to get it then too.

But yeah, four more days, 3 I guess for some of you, and I get the van. This Friday. Then I'm out of creep's house and live alone again. Which might sound like a problem to some, but I kinda prefer it that way. Even better if I don't have to pay nearly as much to live there. My "rent" goes down to roughly $150 a month for gas and insurance (if I go super basic) and my food needs go down to less than $300 if I'm being honest but we'll call it that because it's my budget. Then $45 for cell and net and my monthly costs are down to roughly $500. That's less than I pay in rent now. And by a fair bit, for all of my needs.

My total monthly expenses are now less than a single monthly expense, plus no creeps living with me, plus faster net, plus freedom. I'm mostly just wondering why I didn't do this sooner.

I think I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna switch to living out of a van or RV, haven't decided which yet but more likely van until my county is a part of VT officially. I've been studying it the last few days and I'm already basically living a van life with more electricity. So if I just get an extra battery and wire them in parallel then I'll be able to with no problems, even fewer if I become a huelegin or however the hell you spell it.

Already got the budget planned for what I currently have available, not selling assets, I should have just enough. But I'll also be selling my desktop and car and likely bike too. Already got permission to park in the 24/7 gym lot and my work lot should I choose to, and there are a couple of public lots in the area with unlimited parking, but no snow removal, but I've also got a friend that'll let me use their driveway or park in front of their place or just use their place if it's really uncomfortable for a night.

Now I just gotta get a quote on plexiglass for the windows and doors, but I'm also between a couple of models to choose from.

okay but like the same way artists do zines do fic writers make pretty, impressed versions of their fics? because I swear there are some on Ao3 I would live to have a printed version with a pretty cover art. and I wish writing fan content was more valued.
