I JUST REALIZED THAT YOU WATCHED THE OFMD FINALE
H-
How are you feeling đĽ˛đĽ˛đĽ˛
Pahaha not swimmingly, I'll just say. First I have been doing a bit of the ol' menstruating which means everything is immediately more extreme lol. I've been very conflicted and I'm still not 100% sure how I feel about *THE THING* especially, but this is where I stand right here right now at like 11PM lmao
Under the cut cos this ended up being exponentially longer than I thought it could ever be sorry
Overall I've loved season 2!! It has been so much fun to interact with the community and convert everyone to the Izzy hands cult engage with the fandom week by week. We've had some incredibly beautiful high moments and some lovely refreshing queer joy. I adore the new characters and the developments of our existing ones. I know my negative thoughts here are much more substantial than my positives but this doesn't mean I didn't like it!! I just don't feel the need to describe the positives because I feel like they're pretty obvious and universally recognised, agreed upon and beloved, y'know? (if you want a purely positive thoughts autistic happy flappy hands rantâ˘, i can oblige dw)
Izzy's death is not the only reason I have mixed feelings on the finale. Obviously the episode cuts were a result of HBO'S meddling and isn't the fault of the crew, but the pacing still felt off and everything that happened just kinda washed over me like white noise (haha will wo-). The loose ends were tied up in wholesome ways and if we don't get a season 3 this would be a mostly decent way to end our characters' journeys, if a bit rushed. But then...
Izzy's death. A lot of people feel very very betrayed and hurt by Izzy being killed off, some people don't feel the comfort they used to from this show because of it and no longer want to engage. I don't wanna discount these people's views, more power to them; I cannot stop them from feeling what they feel and doing what they choose. I haven't given up hope on this show but Izzy's death just felt pretty unsatisfying to me?? Putting my bias towards him aside, I get the "killing off mentor at end of second act" trope but I just feel and wish way more could've been done with Izzy. I wanted to see more of him being happy and secure in himself and his found family and his queerness and his disability!! But now I don't get that and it very much stings. I think I could've come to terms more with his death if there had been more time to dwell on it all and get to see the individual characters mourn, but again episode cuts, thanks HBO!! /s. And I know they had the funeral but it still feels like we didn't really get a chance to mourn or treat Izzy's death with the weight it warranted. And I am far too tired especially right now to engage in "is this/is this not bury your gays/disabled character" but I will say I've seen pretty compelling arguments on both sides. As an able-bodied disabled person I don't feel it's fully my place to dictate, but I am upset Izzy was killed right after some big moments in his healing process and being a disabled person and in general just enjoying his life.
Personally I'm not giving up on the show as a whole because the finale left a sour taste in my mouth. I still very much like this show and I'm willing to stick around for a potential season 3 and on future rewatches I'll be able to see the stuff I loved separate from the stuff I didn't. But since looking back now, the latter is most recent, it kind of casts an unpleasant shadow on a very enjoyable season of television.
RIP Izzy Hands you deserved better sweetie, you would've loved Drag Race. And also shoutout to Con O'Neill for a fucking phenomenal performance last season, but especially this one. Izzy was absolutely iconic and a fan favourite for a very good reason, even if imo the writers did him dirty. He was hilarious and a petty little bitch man but then deeply broken and compelling and a genuinely beautiful character with a beautiful journey despite an unfortunate and unjust end?? He slayed.
Wow this was a lot!! Sorry if you were expecting silly goofiness lmfao I got very analysi-ish and a bit melancholic. Thank you so much for the ask JJ, it was a good opportunity to try and express all my thoughts and squish them into something cohesive for both you and me. (And thanks to my friend who I was discussing this with earlier; they helped me get a new perspective by sharing some of his thoughts. Dude, if you're reading this you know who you are, thanks a bunch!!!!)
#wowie zowie this took a long time and i am too tired to proof read it lmao it is LATE#but i probably will anyway for the fear of accidentally saying something that is the exact opposite of what i mean#i am still rather conflicted and a bit upset#ofmd#our flag means death#izzy hands#ofmd spoilers#ofmd s2 spoilers#asks#lovely moots tag

My Adventures with Superman delivers a solid reintroduction to Last Son of Krypton - SEASON REVIEW
*Spoilers for all of Season 1 of My Adventures with Superman*
Adult Swim and Max's My Adventures with Superman's first season has just wrapped up, and I have quite a few thoughts on the fun ten episode journey.
When watching the initial episodes of My Adventures with Superman, I was immediately smitten with our lead three protagonists. Clumsy adorable Clark, Conspiracy theorist and loyal friend Jimmy, and leader of the crew, the overly ambitious and intense Lois all had fantastic chemistry, I knew they would be the force carrying the show if it had nothing else to offer.
Luckily, it does. But let's talk about our core crew first.
One thing I love about this show is they quickly throw away the secret identity shtick for the core crew. Having Lois figure it out so soon and Jimmy knowing already speaks to their characters and their skills as reporters. Plus, now that that drama is over, they can go on this journey together, as they should.
The character I was hoping for more of which I was most happy with was Jimmy. Ishmel Sahid continues to bring multiple layers to Jimmy thoughout the show, and quickly made him my favorite character.
I felt he was the most sidelined of the three in the first couple of episodes, but he really gets two episodes focused on his friendship to the others in the middle of the season that I loved, and has a fun plot developing Flamebird throughout the season.
It pays off with the final joke of him becoming a multi millionaire, but I hope they use this money plot for Jimmy to go on ridiculous adventures and team up with other heroes and monsters like in the comics.
Also just love that Jimmy continued to be a good wingman to both Clark and Lois and give them space when needed. What an absolute pal.
While I'm here, I do love the cute love story between Clark and Lois, but it felt a bit rushed. Throwing the L word around a bit quick in my opinion, but I understand this is basically an anime, and needs to be a bit dramatic. I wish they would've saved that for Season 2, but I love the chemistry and that they are already together.
Alice Lee continues to shine as Lois, often having to voice some incredibly dramatic points in the show. I love the revelation that she is "the worst Lois" because all other Lanes are exceptional. That episode in general is a highlight for me, although it is a little bit Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Of the three characters, Lois felt the most fleshed out, dealing with insecurities from her father, trying to live up to her own expectations and his, and trying to make a real difference. Those little things make moments like the crew getting desks so satisfying and heartwarming.
I feel like people have talked to death how great Jack Quaid is as Superman, so I'll try to be brief. He's incredible. It's clear they casted for Clark instead of Superman, which was a smart move.
As Clark he is humble, kind, brave, and genuine. You cry when he does, you feel for his pain when he stumbles and you cheer when he succeeds. This should be the blueprint for Superman media moving forward.
While I had to adjust to the Superman voice, by the end of the show I was good with it, and it was perfect. I would love to see him lead an anime style Justice League.
I think tying General Lane to this Kryptonian invasion plot was a really good through line throughout the season. Making him directly connected to the destruction caused by Kryptonians felt very Batman v Superman (but in a good way), and made their interactions feel real weight.
One aspect of the show I criticized and hoped would improve were the villains. While I like the overarching villain being Sam Lane, I think this show doesn't quite have the iconic villains say a Spectacular Spider-Man or a Young Justice does. I was hoping for someone with something special or unique to grasp on to, but there really wasn't.
I think having the Suicide Squad be one of the final battles, and doing the match up from the "What if Superman ripped off the roof of the white house?" line from Suicide Squad movie is kind of fun, but the Squad members didn't feel fleshed out enough for me to care.
I think with the exception of Banshee and Mxyzptlk , most of the designs for the villains felt a little boring. This includes the final two teased at the end of the show. I wish more thought and color was put behind the characters, like Superman or even Jor-El.
Parasite was the most fun inclusion, but I felt he was too different from his usual version for me to fully grasp on to. Of the Superman villains shown, I think he could come back and win me over.
I hope characters like Brainiac, Zod, Luthor, Lobo and Doomsday bring life to this show through villainy. With great antagonists, this show would be absolutely perfect, but it's just not there yet.
I think this show is on to something really special, and I hope to see it continue for multiple seasons. It could be a fantastic introduction to the character of Superman, if it could bring more life to Metropolis through its recurring characters.
Overall, I think it's a great show. One that surprised me with emotion, the laughs, the triumphs and the falls. I recommend you watch the season, now streaming on Max.

the truth in your eyes.
a bucky barnes x fem!reader blurb wherein the reader shows bucky that someone does trust him.
WARNING: TFATWS SPOILERS, bucky having flashbacks, aside from that nothing else. (maybe a dash of angst if you squint just enough)
A/N: so as you all know, episode four was a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone and well that one scene where bucky was finally set free tore me into a million pieces, making me sob so hard (the hardest since the last episode of wandavision) and gave me so much muse. listened to hate to see your heartbreak by paramore while writing this. totally didnât cry while re-watching those scenes for this fic. (sobbed even more when i listened to safe and sound bye)
beta read by these two lovelies: @anchoeritic and @harrysweasleys but mistakes are all mine!
---
â...Hail HYDRAâ was all that left Buckyâs lips as he easily snapped the neck of the man that he pursued in another mission as the Winter Soldier. His face was blank and cold as he stood there, eyes gazing over the lifeless body of the man in front him before looking at the other man standing by the end of the hallway, practically frozen with fear.
The sound of his boots were resonating in the hallway, overpowering the clatter of the keys of the man as he tried his best to unlock his hotel room. Panic consumed him as he felt The Winter Soldierâs presence draw nearer to him, âP-Please, I didnât see anything,â He begged, avoiding the super assassinâs intimidating gaze.
Fear creeping into his system as he knew he was facing his untimely death as the stare of the man made him cower even more in fear, his breath staggered as he spoke, âI- I didnât see anything.â He repeated profusely, unable to control his sobs as the gun was easily pointed to him, eyes closing as his demise came with a loud
BANG
Bucky jolted awake, sweat accumulating on his forehead, his body flushed despite the cold air that drifted through the room. His head turned to the cause of the sudden sound only to see your water bottle on the floor and your siamese cat, Steve, replacing its spot. He shifted his attention to you, wanting to make sure that you werenât disturbed in your sleep.
The corner of his lips turned into a smile to see you deep in your slumber, your plush tiers slightly ajar as soft snores escaped. You looked so snug and harmless in his shirt, its size making you seem smaller as you were drowning in the clothing piece.
He slowly made his way out of your bed, slipping away to the kitchen to grab some milk to calm down his nerves. His steps were quiet, creeping around the apartment, scared he might accidentally wake you up and the last thing he wants is to disrupt you from your good nightâs rest.
Bucky knew the layout of your apartmentâs layout like the back of his hand, easily making his way towards the fridge where he grabbed his carton of chocolate milk that you bought especially for him, knowing about the secret love for sweets the man has. Grabbing a mug, he poured the cold drink and placed it inside the microwave, heating it up.
He then leaned back into the kitchen island, arms crossed together as he was still deep in thought, the terror of the innocent man that The Winter Soldier killed haunting him as he knew he had to make amends with his father once he gained the courage to do so. His right arm covering his mouth as he let a frustrated groan, wanting nothing more than to have these dreams stop haunting him.
âIt is timeâ Ayo said from across the fire, spear in her hand as she looked at Bucky with a determined look.
He was less than half of the man he was at present, broken and lost as the Wakandans took him in and helped him regain control over his mind, hoping to give him some sort of stability in his life. Hiis eyes cast down and was focused on the fire in front of him, its warmth giving him a sense of comfort, âYou sure about this?â he questioned, voice laced with a mixture of despair and hope.
âI wonât let you hurt anyoneâ The warrior reassured, staying silent for a moment to give way for Bucky to ready himself. She walked towards him slowly as she started off, âМоНаниоâ her voice the only thing heard aside from the gust of wind and the crackle of the campfire. âРМавŃĐšâ
â...ŃоПнадŃĐ°ŃŃâ and thatâs when he felt it. Flashbacks of him and Steveâs fight along the highway of New York coming back to him, the first time he encountered him after years of no contact; he didnât even know himself when Steve called him Bucky. His struggle as Zemo got a hold of the infamous red notebook that holds his trigger words, activating the Winter Soldier that caused disruption amongst the avengers.
âдОйŃĐžŃĐľŃĐ´ĐľŃĐ˝ŃĐš, дОйŃŃĐš. довŃŃŃâ Ayo continued, watching him intently, seeing the struggle that was clear as day on his face. Bucky continued to have his memories thrown at him, seeing the destruction he caused as something he wasnât, causing him to erupt in tears.
âĐдинâ His torment under the hands of HYDRA causing him great pain as he fought everything under his willpower to keep everything contained. Buckyâs tears were uncontrollable as realization hit him.
âĐłŃŃСОвОК вагОнâ Ayo finished, looking at him with a warm and proud smile, relief evident in her demeanor as she spoke, âYouâre free.â causing him to erupt into a sob.
Those two words echoing in his mind as he finally felt free, a heavy weight lifted off from his shoulders, feeling himself gain control over the monster that lived inside him; overjoyed and relieved that he can start the journey of being free from there. He was finally James Buchanan Barnes again.
âBucky!â a voice disconnected him from his train of thought, head whipping to the side where he saw you, clad in just his shirt as you hugged the pillow with one arm, the other raised as you rubbed the sleep off from your eyes. âYour milk is cold again.â you stated, dropping the pillow as you walked in front of him, wrapping your arms around his bare torso.
He was quick to reciprocate the hug, holding you close to him. âYou shouldnât be up yet, doll.â His voice was gruff, trying his best to hold back the tears that welled up in his eyes, pressing a quick kiss to the crown of your head before burying his face against your neck, inhaling your scent that he found comfort in.
âThe cold is bed without you.â You mumbled softly, feeling drowsier than ever as the heat from his body was enough to lull you back into slumber. Your jumbled sentence made him chuckle, further proving his point that you should be sleeping.
But you knew Buck like the back of your hand, he would only drink his chocolate milk hot if there was something he wanted to clear his mind so you pulled away just enough for you to look at him, your e/c orbs meeting his icy blue ones that showcase so much emotion that his face couldnât convey. âWhatâs wrong, James?â
His brows furrowed for a second upon your use of his real name, knowing that you were serious about your question, âNothing, baby. Iâm fine.â He reassured, squeezing you lightly in his arms, hoping that you would buy his alibi but you werenât fooled despite your sleepy state.
âYou only drink your chocolate milk warm if you have something on your mind, so please, James. Tell me.â You pleaded, your innocent state tugging Bucky at the heartstrings as he flipped your position, easily lifting you to sit on the kitchen island as he positioned himself in the middle of your legs, his arms not leaving your frame.
âI⌠I had another nightmare.â Buck started off, his voice was still as low as before, but it was laced with a hint of brokenness as he recalled the horror of his dream. âYou know the recurring one Iâve been dealing with? That one.â he didnât want to go into detail about anything, finding it hard to find the right words to use. âI⌠I still feel like a monster.â
You shushed him, pulling away to let your hands rest on his shoulders, your eyes meeting his once again. âYouâre not a monster, Buck. You never were.â Which was true, you were the few who believed that he was innocent and not a cold-hearted killer like everyone believes him to be. âYou didnât have a choiceä¸ so please donât blame yourself for any of this,â
Your smaller hands found its spot on the sides of his face, wiping the tears that glistened on his skin as the moonlight hit him, highlighting the beauty of his eyes even more. âIt would take a person with real empathy to see the truth in your eyes. Those beautiful eyes that have shown me nothing but love and adoration, you have my trust Buck. You have me, Sam, and⌠Steve. You have us.â
Bucky was silent, taking in your words before nodding, his larger hands engulfing yours as he held them, giving them a reassuring squeeze. âThank you, Y/N. For always believing in me, for trusting me.â
âAlways, James. Always.â

Sonic & Tails R: A Love Letter To Miles Tails Prowerâs Characterization
Warning: This will contain massive spoilers for the short radio play series of Sonic & Tails R. If you havenât listened to the radio play yet on Youtube, Iâd highly recommend any hardcore Sonic fan who hasnât seen it check it out. Itâs one Hell of a treat.
For as far back as I can remember in my childhood, Tailsâ story of trying to step outta Sonicâs shadow has been such a resonating one for myself. Even when I was a much younger kid playing my Dreamcast, during entries like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, there was some idea lingering about why Tails just stood out more emotionally in his journey to grow beyond depending on Sonic all the time for help. Now here I am a young adult in my late twenties having such a deeper appreciation of this little two tailed genius kiddo because heâs got an important element thatâs made him so beloved for good reason.
In spite of his genius being a rival to that of Eggmanâs high IQ and of course proving to surpass it plenty of times when scenarios boil down to being a high stakes battle, Miles Tails Prower beneath it all is still just like any one of us. Weâre all trying to find our place in this world about what defines us for who we are as unique people. He wants to be more than just seen as someone whoâs alongside Sonic The Hedgehogâs never say die attitude, but prove heâs plenty capable of standing on his own two feet to protect everything the kid holds dear to himself. Underdog stories, when theyâre naturally executed very well, can reel me in so easily. They are very much my bread & butter trope I adore seeing.
To no oneâs surprise, the two Sonic Adventureâs iterations portrayal of Tailsâ characterization are hands down some of my favorite writing for the two tailed fox, regarding what the 3D era has done toward him, development wise. It gave him more of an existential struggle to endure like, âWhat happens when Sonic isnât around to help stop Eggman? What if Iâm not strong enough to accomplish what he can?â, making Tails plight to be seen as an equal all the more endearing when stopping Eggman in his climatic battle against the Egg Walker in Station Square. This here is a great use of a timeless lesson you can apply in life that if you set you heart and mind on anything, there isnât a thing you canât accomplish on your own, which is why many fell in love with Sonic Adventure 1 & 2â˛s writing for Miles Tails Prowerâs journey of independence.
As someone who comes from a large family tree of relatives, I feel the weight of my existence on my shoulders at a number of points more than Iâd care to count, admittedly. Seeing Tails struggle with his sense of purpose, in contrast to observing how much Sonic has accomplished with his carefree, yet deeply compassionate attitude, means the world to me in watching another trying to comprehend their value as a whole on how much they matter, overall. This is a big part of why my fondness for SA1 & 2â˛s quality has never wavered over these years, besides still obviously enjoying most of their game play mechanics. People can try to debate to their heartâs content on whether the Adventure games still hold up in their own eyes, but Iâll always respect them for how they tried to develop certain characters, such as Tails, Gamma, and Shadow The Hedgehog notably, to attempt expanding upon their characters, as well as world building.
I wonât bother going into a rant about how Sonicâs recent 3D games have butchered Tailsâ personality & relatable nature, due to the current writers in charge of handling the cast of characters. More or less, I greatly empathize toward the notion many have already stated about Tails being so cowardly and God forbid, looking at Lost World, downright severely mean spirited. Rather, Iâm obviously writing this lengthy post to breakdown why Sonic & Tails R succeeds, where these certain 3D games have greatly faltered in exploring Tailsâ emotional dilemmas as an insecure, yet still having the courage to prove himself, talented boy full of hidden potential he doesnât quite realize, until his back is against the wall in life threatening situations.
âThat day, I realized I couldnât depend on you forever. Not that I canât depend on you, but like, âWhat happens when Sonic isnât here?â, you know?â
Sonic & Tails R further delves into this fundamental rule of what has defined Tails in Sonic Adventure 1 & 2â˛s stories of events where Sonic wasnât there to aid his best bud in taking down Eggmanâs evil efforts for global domination, most importantly his fear of defending the Earth without his role model. Besides what I already stated in SA1â˛s events in Station where he stopped the Egg Walker, as well as the missile Eggman launched from detonating before their climatic battle, Tails watched Sonic blow up in ARKâs capsule presuming him to be dead after Sonic imparted how much faith he has in the kidâs abilities to be truly strong in the face of any foe. Sonic & Tails R manages to use fan service in a way that doesnât feel like âpanderingâ for the sake of it, using this past canon material to do more of an in-depth study about Milesâ anxieties of existing without Sonic.
Wouldnât put it past them if EmuEmi & crew were using SA2â˛s Sonic death fake out scene in that space capsule to further add trauma to Tailsâ psychological attachment to Sonic, as well as his insecurities of depending on him too much, to boot. While itâs never obviously outright stated in their radio play, I definitely believe they were factoring this element into adding dramatic exploration for why Tails is so self-conscious about the worst case scenario of permanently losing Sonic. Watching Sonic supposedly die put Tails into a deeper state of self-reflection, so I very much enjoyed how they went using these past events to create a thorough exploration about him learning just as itâs important to realize you need to stand up for yourself without using someone else as a crutch all the time, itâs doubly important to remember thereâs nothing wrong about asking someone for help when youâre about to be down and out with little options left.
Sonic & Tails R beautifully builds upon the foundation these two gamesâ stories left behind years ago, creating new damn great material to explore with the most iconic characters of this cast, Sonic & Tails brotherly dynamic. Iâve been praising Sonic & Tails R out the wazoo for how well it captured Tails underdog story of overcoming death defying odds, but it managed to remind me how simply adorable and outright wonderfully endearing their brotherly chemistry is as a whole. This is a big friendly reminder Sonic isnât all about being cocky wise cracking character making meta jokes left and right, but he can be plenty capable of showing serious compassion to anyone he values as an ally and friend. This is no greater evident, than with him verbally lifting Tails up in his time of need when heâs self-depreciating his own significance. It can be seen in Episodes 2, 4, and 7 giving Tails motivational pieces of advice.
  Episode 2 In Adabatâs Cavern
-Sonic: Wasnât it your radar that helped us find these Emerald shards in the first place? How could you be slowing us down when youâve gotten us this far?
-Tails: But, I...
-Sonic: I could never make something like that. Youâre the smartest person I know, Tails. One way or another, weâll figure this out, count on it.
Episode 4 In Holoska After Helping Silver Save The Chao
-Sonic: So, what was that back there? At the cave, in Adabat? -Tails: What do you mean? -Sonic: Frozen stiff. Confidence shot. Itâs not like you. It was more than feeling like you were âslowing us downâ, right?
Episode 7 Inside The Egg Carrier 3
-Sonic: Letâs split up! Iâll distract them and you can go after the energy source. -Tails: Youâre gonna take them on all by yourself!? Let me help, Sonic! -Sonic: No time for this, Tails. Stop overthinking and just go! If I can get their attention, Iâll take the heat off of you and that room youâre going to probably wonât have any security. Take this emerald and Iâll take the other one we have. Itâll lead me right to you after I beat these guys. -Tails: O-Okay... -Sonic: Hold on, Tails! Listen to me. Donât stop moving and be careful. Iâll be fine and so will you!
Sonic & Tails R remembers the most crucial detail of their important relationship. One isnât better than the other and needing to always rely upon that notion for helping one outta a jam, but instead showcases how theyâre equals as a team/bros. Sonic may be super fast and strong, however Tails has his intelligence to analyze situations in a different angle Sonic wouldnât necessarily consider, per say. Which isnât to say Tails couldnât put up a fight either, as weâve seen in SA1 & SA2â˛s stories where he faced Eggman one on one with no outside help to best him at his own game of wits & strength.
We get see the apex of this idea through Tails facing Eggman in his super improved mecha walker. Although Tails may get thrown for a loop here at first by Eggman, itâs his villainous speech about winners and losers in their world that ironically does the exact opposite of what he intended. Eggman wanted to crush Tailsâ sense of self worth before finishing him off, but all it did was reignite the very lesson Sonic told him earlier before running to distract Eggmanâs robotic minions. That said lesson of heâs more than capable of facing dangerous threats
-Eggman: Poor boy. We all have to learn this lesson, sooner or later. In every game thereâs no one you can depend on. Youâre all alone and youâre either a winner, or a loser. And as you know, loserâs lose all of their lives. Say goodbye, fox!
-Tails: Youâre wrong! I can depend Sonic! I wonât let him down! I canât because...Because heâs depending on me! And because of that I wonât lose to you!
This radio play strikes a good balance in utilizing the grey moral area about depending on someone vs it being an unhealthy display of attachment derived from serious insecurity. Wordâs canât begin to describe how much I loved this moment to pieces because itâs oh so important for writing Tailsâ characterization. If youâre going to tackle him being super self conscious about his reliance on Sonic, then you gotta remember why they are so close to one another to begin with. Sonic & Tails have an unbreakable connection, considering theyâve brought out their best qualities in themselves from being together as individuals. For Sonic, itâs his older brother compassion to Tails to bring him outta feeling melancholy. For Tails, the kid finally understands there isnât anything wrong with depending on Sonic when he needs it most.
After all, thatâs what a real healthy friendship is all about. Whether youâre giving someone a dose of tough love, or simply a piece of motivational advice, it defines how much you truly care about someone, period. Sonic & Tails have this very same power from their bond, which is why new emeralds form from their compassionate friendship that hasnât been shaken after all the years theyâve been together. Another detail worth noting is it adds to the lore in an impactful manner when Tikal expresses in Episode 8 about positive connections and thoughts from users of the Chaos Emeralds having a strong will & heart. Using the ideas they had for encapsulating Sonic & Tailsâ dynamic to create new emeralds from their love for each other as brothers adds an emotional weight.
âSo, Sonicâs not the only one who harness the power of the Chaos Emeralds? I can too!?â
âYes, you have a strong heart! There is a power waiting to be unlocked within you, as well.â
Iâd always daydreamed about in my childhood seeing Super Sonic & Tails take down a threatening villain, whether it was Eggman or different powerful creature such as Chaos or the Biolizard. You can imagine how fucking giddy I was beyond belief to see this artwork of Episode 9â˛s cover for the radio play. Tails not only got to have another one on one with Eggman, but a team up with Super Sonic in his own respective Super form? Sign me the Hell up! Talk about an all you eat buffet of good writing for Tailsâ journey reaching its climax. Getting to hear this play out, alongside the amazing song of Fly With Me, made it authentically feel like something straight outta if there were an installment of Sonic Adventure 3 being brought into reality, which certainly feels like it now.
Episode 9 has so much awesome stuff with Sonic & Tails working together in their super forms. Particularly, my favorite scene is at the beginning when Sonic teaches Tails how to navigate his newly acquired speed in his respective Super form. My heart melted hearing Sonic help Tails through it all, while he was overjoyed about how fun this new form is for himself. Wholesome Sonic & Tails content is the perfect daily serotonin for me, easily. Itâs an awesome fun fact to know they used a scrapped boss from Tails Tornado segment in SA1 for Eggmanâs flying dragon three headed robot in their big final battle, once again using old canon material in a very effective manner to boost the quality of their fan made story.
Itâs been a real thrill to hear Mike Pollock play a straight forward serious Eggman making my day in more ways than one, considering thatâs another thing Iâve been yearning for desperately besides Tails being a competent character again. His performance in Episode 9 when Eggman gave that speech about how long heâs been at odds with Sonic & Tails stubborn will power was simply excellent. The moment he told his mechanical dragon to crush them I got serious chills. Thatâs the Eggman I remember and grew up with. He could be a hammy villain sure, but Eggman wasnât a doormat that could be swiftly beaten. Robotnik can be considered a serious threat in his own right and this radio play nailed it down to the very letter with how much he predicted their actions.
âSonic, all I ever wanted to do was be like you. Youâre not scared of anyone or anything. I could never be like that. At least, so I thought. I grew from that, but then I got so caught up in trying to prove it that thought it wasnât okay to depend upon anyone, especially you. I just didnât want to be that scared little kid in Station Square anymore, but now I understand. Itâs okay to depend on your friends. It all means is that weâre stronger together, so the next time Eggman comes back and wants to start any trouble with you, or any of my friends. Emeralds or no emeralds, heâs gonna have to get past me and he wonât!â
Sonic By Episode 1â˛s End: Aww, yeah! Adventure, here we come!
Tails By Episode 10â˛s End: Aww, yeah! Adventure, here I come!
Turn your thoughts into power. Be all that you can be.
The ending legit got me choked up because what of they decided to do for wrapping up Tails journey in a poetic fashion. Having Tails go off on his own separate journey to grow more independence pulled on my heart strings perfectly. Very much so, as Iâm transitioning slowly, but surely, into gaining more freedom to go out into the outside world in my own life. Concluding the story, by Sonic & Tails holding onto the two Emeralds their bond had formed from positive energy, due to their powerful friendship, was so heartwarming. This is how you write an overview of what makes Sonic & Tails chemistry work so well as it does.
Sonic & Tails Râs ending represents while some things never change, like Sonic and Tails bond for each other, it also shows thereâs very much a necessity for people to grow, hence Tailsâ whole solo journey in the epilogue. People canât stay in the same place forever and will need go about finding their own path, even if it means saying âgoodbyeâ periodically for a notable amount of time.
Itâs for these reasons Iâve listed in great explanation above throughout this detailed post cement Sonic & Tails R high on my list of favorite Sonic fan projects. They captured the magic of what made the Adventure games so beloved. Gonna be looking back on this passion project for many years to come. Everyone involved in this year long effort of a project dating all the way back Summer of 2020 ought to be immensely proud for how much their hard efforts paid off in the long run.
Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts here!Â
Hope you enjoyed.Â

Adrien, the true main character of Miraculous Ladybug. (And the reasons why this show doesn't work anymore).
Yes, I'm going to write a whole dissertation on this and no one is going to stop me. No, I don't like Marinette, but not because she's a creepy and annoying character, but because she's bland a boring. Yes, I'll elaborate on that, but firstly lest talk about what makes a good protagonist!
1.They have a problem that needs solving. What does this mean? That your protagonist needs to have some sort of conflict going on, it can be internal or external, but it has to matter to them and it has to drive them to act. It has to be personal. The protagonist has to be central to the story and to the conflict, it has to revolve around them.
2.A protagonist needs to take action. This means that they move the plot forward, because the conflict of the story is about them so every decision they make and every action they take ends up affecting the whole course of things.
3.A protagonists needs to have reasons to take action. This is and point two come hand in hand. The conflict needs to be of importance to the protagonist so they can have believable reasons to take action.
4.The protagonist has something to lose. If things go wrong, or even if they go well, something has to be a stake. That little thing that's a stake has to be the motivation, the reason, to take action. It has to be important enough to force the protagonist to take risks that otherwise they wouldn't even consider, because they can't afford to lose that something.
5.The protagonist has something to gain. Again we have things a stake here. If they do the things right they'll get a reward, something to look forward to. Without something to gain for the protagonist, why even bother to try, right?
6.A good protagonist has the capacity to change. A MC needs to learn along the way, they need to grow and show development. They need to learn from their experiences, otherwise they'll be making the same mistakes over and over again and that's not engaging.
7.A good protagonist has to have compelling personality traits and flaws. The MC needs to have something that makes the audience loves them, but also a trait that needs improvement because otherwise they wouldn't have the capacity to change.
8.A good protagonist has a secret and a very good reason to keep that secret.
9.A good protagonist has a good antagonist. The villain has to be of importance to the protagonist. Why are they enemies? Why the MC needs to stop the villain? Why does it matter?
10.A good protagonist knows that they want and makes the story happen.
And based on those characteristics we can start crafting our MC, that one person that we will have to follow throughout the whole story, the character we have to root for and relate to. The one who makes us care about the events of the story. And once we have crafted our main character we start crafting our story around them, usually following the three art structure or the hero's journey structure. Since this is a superheros show, it makes more sense to use the hero's journey, right? So let's write down this structure following both Adrien and Marinette's stories.
Marinette.
âThe ordinary world: This is the original world of the hero, which "suffers from a symbolic deficiency." The hero is lacking something, or something is taken from them.
We get to experience Marinette ordinary world the first episode. We watch her interact with her parents, parents that absolutely adore her and support her on everything. We learn her family has a bakery shop and that it's the best of Paris. She isn't lacking anything, nothing has been taken from her. Her life is perfect and normal. She has a best friend, she has a wonderful part time job as a babysitter for a famous reporter, she has loving parents and goes to a good school. She lives good and nothing of that is in danger. She doesn't lack anything. She is presented as this perfect girl with an amazing life. A little bit silly, yes, but that's actually a good trait because isn't she adorable? Oh, she's lacking a love life I guess.
âThe call to adventure: The hero is given a challenge, problem, or adventure. Often it appears as a blunder, or chance. This stage establishes the goal of the hero.
Marinette gets the chance to become Ladybug. Why her? Because she was a nice citizen that helped an old man and that's enough. Why does it matter if she becomes a superhero? Is that a blunder or a chance? Why? We already established that a good protagonist needs to have a conflict to solve, and usually the call to adventure is the first step the MC takes to solve that problem. Does the MC wants to become rich to help their poor family? Well, their call to adventure, the inciting incident, would be getting the opportunity to participate in a poker tournament where the winner gets 20M dollars. That is their call to adventure. But what's Marinette's call to adventure? In the ordinary world we learned that she isn't lacking anything, that nothing was taken from her. Refusing to become Ladybug wouldn't have changed anything for her. Yeah, she is a nice person and wanted to fight crime because she's that noble, but that's hardly personal. It doesn't have weight and the audience won't care.
âTHE REFUSAL OF THE CALL: The (often) reluctant hero has to be set along the correct path. They must weigh the consequences and be excited by a stronger motivation to proceed further.
Well, she had a moment of doubt before accepting to become Ladybug, but I didn't see the strong motivation that made her to proceed further. Remember that the motivation has to be personal and it has to matter. If it doesn't matter to the MC then it'll matter less for the audience.
âMEETING WITH THE MENTOR: The hero encounters a wise figure who prepares them for the journey. This figure (or item) gives advice, guidance, or an item, but cannot go with the hero.
Nothing to add here because it's pretty obvious that the mentor is that old man (forgot his name) and the item she gets is Tikki.
âCROSSING THE THRESHOLD: The hero has committed to his task, and enters the special world. Often he is met by a threshold guardian.
Nothing to add here either. Crossing the threshold for Marinette was turning into Ladybug for the first time and deciding it's what she wanted to do. Although her reasond to want it to do it are none existent.
âTESTS, ALLIES, AND ENEMIES: In the special world, the hero learns the new rules by meeting people and obtaining new information. There is often a "local watering hole" component. This is where the true characteristics of the hero are revealed.
She meets Chat Noir, she also learns about her enemy Hawk Moth, we see her making new friends and frenemies and what not. The thing is nothing of that feels important because she doesn't have a reason to be doing all that. There's no inner conflict, no goal other than to chase after Adrien. Yes, little problems raise for here here and there, but are not relevant to the big scheme of things. Her goals are momentary and achieved by the end of each chapter.
Now will get to a part that hasn't happened yet, but we can guess.
âAPPROACH TO THE INNERMOST CAVE: Now our hero, and often his allies, have come to the edge of the dangerous place where the "object of the quest" is hidden. This stage often is the land of the dead.
This doesn't matter because, again, Marinette has nothing to lose or gain (nothing important at least, only short lived goals with no relation to the plot). She has no reason to be doing all that other than just to be a good citizen and that isn't interesting.
âTHE SUPREME ORDEAL: The hero faces danger, often a life-or-death moment that is either physical or psychological.
Again, why should we care if Marinette faces danger when we know she doesn't even has a reason of weight to be there in the first place? How we, as the audience, are supposed to root for her when she doesn't have anything to lose or gain from that supreme ordeal?
âREWARD, OR SEIZING THE SWORD: After surviving, our hero takes possession of the object, typically a treasure, weapon, knowledge, token, or reconciliation.
It doesn't matter. If Marinette wins why should we feel like it all finally paid off when she didn't even have a reason to be there or something she wanted to gain? It's just silly. Unless that reward is Adrien's love, which would be pathetic and boring because this is not supposed to be a love story.
âTHE ROAD BACK: The hero must now deal with the consequences of their actions. They may be pursued by remaining forces. They now face the decision to return to the ordinary world.
âRESURRECTION: One final test is required for the purification and rebirth of the hero. Alternatively, it may be a miraculous transformation.
âRETURN WITH THE ELIXIR: The triumphant hero returns to the ordinary world bearing the elixir. Common elixirs are treasure, love, freedom, wisdom, or knowledge. A defeated hero is doomed to repeat the lesson.
I didn't add anything to the last three points because I would just be repeating myself for like the fourth time. Why should we care about the consequences of Marinette defeating Hawk Moth? Why should we care if she goes back to her ordinary world when she didn't even have a reason to leave it? And that's justs makes the two other points unimportant.
That's Marinette's hero's journey. If we can call that a journey, because so far we haven't seen her face trials and dangers, and with this what I want to say is that she hasn't faced anything that threatens what she holds dear, not for real at least. When she faced the possibility of her best friend getting angry at her because she messed with something that was important to her? Oh, that was no biggie! After all Alya knew that would end up happening and was prepared for that, silly Marinette for even worrying! When she literally commits a crime and steals her crush's phone? Why she should worry? She even go rewarded by getting invited to the movies!
Marinette has no flaws (at least to the writers' eyes) to fix, nothing to gain (besides Adrien) because she already has everything, nothing to lose because everyone adores her and because she's so perfect she could never do anything wrong. That's a boring MC. Yes, she's quirky and pretty but that's no enough to make her MC material. She has the characterization of a support character at best. That's awful.
Now let's see Adrien's journey, shall we?
âTHE ORDINARY WORLD: We learn that Adrien is a famous model with a rich father and absent mother (we later learn that she "disappeared"). His life is heavily controlled by his father and his assistant, to the point he can't even go to school like a normal kid or make friends, all because he has a reputation to maintain, after all he's a famous model. He's not happy with his life, he would like to experience normal teenager's experiences like going out with friends or attending school. That's his ordinary world. What he lacks is freedom, autonomy and love, and what was taken from him was his mother. There you have inner conflict, a problem that needs to be solved.
âTHE CALL TO ADVENTURE: Adrien receives the opportunity to become a hero. It'd be a challenge, a problem and an adventure all at once for him. A challenge because he'll have to find ways to get away from his controlling father without getting caught, which can cause him problems, but is also the adventure he has waiting for, the opportunity to be free, that little thing he was lacking in his life. He decides to become Chat Noir because is the right thing, but also because it'll give him something that he always wanted: the opportunity to be himself. For him it's personal. And hey, maybe later on he could use his new cool superpowers to find out about his mom, right?
âTHE REFUSAL OF THE CALL: He could get in so much troubles with his father for accepting this opportunity, it could also damage his career as a model. He has every reason to say no, but also every reason to say yes because he'll get to be what he always wanted. Is an opportunity he can't let go and he knows it.
âMEETING WITH THE MENTOR: Just like in Marinette's case his mentor is that old man. It's basically the same here.
âCROSSING THE THRESHOLD: This point is also similar to Marinette's. He also crossed the threshold the first time he transformed into Chat Noir, the only difference is that for him it matters and we know exactly why. It matters because he'll get the opportunity to be himself, to be free, to escape his real life.
âTESTS, ALLIES, AND ENEMIES: Also similar to Marinette's. He meets Ladybug, he starts to attend school so he makes new friends/allies, he meets his enemy Hawk Moth. We also learn a lot more about him watching his interactions with his new allies and watching him go through his tests. And most importantly, we learn that Hawk Moth is his father.
The next points haven't happened yet, but we can guess. We'll ignore the travesty they did to his character in season 4 and we'll just keep following the hero's journey like the writers should have done.
âAPPROACH TO THE INNERMOST CAVE: He's getting closer to the enemy, but the closer he gets the dangerous it gets. Not only for Chat Noir, but for Adrien too, because let's remember that his father is Hawk Moth and that he knows, or suspects at least, that his son might be Chat Noir. He also did something creepy to his wife, the mother Adrien adores and misses so much. There's so much to lose, so much at stake.
âTHE SUPREME ORDEAL: Adrien faces his father, Hawk Moth. He finds out the truth and that for sure will be the hardest thing ever for him. Imagine learning that your father is the one responsible for all the bad things happening in Paris, that he is the big evil you so badly wanted to defeat. His father was not perfect, but it was still his father and now he has to make a choice. What's more important to him? Family or duty? Can Chat Noir take down Adrien's father? If Chat Noir takes him down, would Adrien be able to forgive himself? Could he live with that?
âREWARD, OR SEIZING THE SWORD: He either fight his father or they talk, get to some sort of agreement/reconciliation or bails out. What will he do? And depending on his choice, how is his road back going to be?
âTHE ROAD BACK: He'll have to deal with the consequences of the choice taken in the previous point. Did he fight his father? Now he'll have to learn to live with it, maybe he'll feel guilty, maybe angry. Did they talk and got to an agreement? Maybe he was able to resolve things in a peaceful way, but now he resents his father. Did he bail out? Maybe it was to difficult for him to go against his father and decided to run away, and now he feels guilty and like a failure. So many possibilities.
âRESURRECTION: His last test. He'll have to learn how to live with the consequences of his actions and make something positive out of it. It'll be hard, but it can be done.
âRETURN WITH THE ELIXIR: After coming to terms with the things that happened he gets his reward. Maybe his mother comes back. Maybe he finally gets the freedom he so much wanted without having to hide behind Chat Noir's identity. Maybe he gets the girl. Maybe he gets the three of them.
See the difference between Marinette and Adrien's journey? Adrien has reasons, goals, things to lose and/or gain, there's so much at stake for him. He could lose what is left of his family, the life he has known, his reputation, his career, his money (although I don't see him particularly caring about wealth, it'd make an impact on him to lose it all), everything. His father is the main villain, how more personal could it get!
Adrien is the main character we deserved, his journey is the one we should be following. He had so much potential it makes me sad that is being wasted like this. He was the deuteragonist, now in season four he's just a side character.
So that brings me to the reasons why I can't keep watching this show:
Firstly, if you want to keep your audience engaged with your show the worst mistake you can make is making your MC perfect from the get go, because that lefts no room for growth. And what is the hero's journey? A journey of growth, but if your MC already has it all, then why bother? Marinette bores me to death and I can't keep watching the show just to see Adrien (one of the very few well written characters that actually made the show entertaining) appear like for two seconds.
Secondly, you don't assassinate your own characters for the sake of uplifting your MC. That's bad writing. That's character derailment and you should avoid doing that like the plague. I'm sorry, but if you have to make your characters act OOC just to uplift your MC and make her look like she finally is having some development after four seasons of static personality, then she hasn't has development at all, because it's not Marinette who changed, the ones who changed are the characters around her. They all became more incompetent than her, more annoying than her, more boring than her (when that wasn't the case before) and now she looks like she's finally growing, but it's just because the writers had to downgrade the other characters. I absolutely detest when writers do that.
I hate the constant addition of new characters that literally bring nothing to the table? But I mean, I kinda understand why they keep adding characters. When your MC is so bland that following her nonexistent journey would make the plot stall, then you have to add new characters to keep the audience entertained and advance the plot a little, because the MC can't do it for herself.
I just can't keep watching only for two or three characters. Thomas and his love for Marinette are literally ruining the show. He loves the character he created so much he refuses to make her go through anything remotely negative and he hates the other characters so much because they're not Marinette, that he destroys the their arcs. His childish and he ruined a show that had so much potential.
Sorry if you're a Marinette fan, but the truth needed to be told.

the truth in your eyes. [ b.b ]
a bucky barnes x fem!reader blurb wherein the reader shows bucky that someone does trust him.
(sobbed even more when i listened to safe and sound bye)
updated a/n: still crying. yeah definitely stlll crying.
---
ââŚHail HYDRAâ was all that left Buckyâs lips as he easily snapped the neck of the man that he pursued in another mission as the Winter Soldier.
She walked towards him slowly as she started off, âМоНаниоâ her voice the only thing heard aside from the gust of wind and the crackle of the campfire. âРМавŃĐšâ
ââŚŃоПнадŃĐ°ŃŃâ and thatâs when he felt it.
Always.â

spill the yoi hot takes :o
Iâm really flattered with the amount of asks (I hope you won't mind that I combined at least 5, it's just easier this way), interested in my yoi opinions, I wasnât planning to get into that honestly, until I mentioned it to my friend Alex (Iâve mentioned him here before without a name tho, heâs gay, heâs very into anime, he was also the one behind that 4am text âbut how do u think Rinâs teeth feel on Haruâs dickâ lol).Â
I just didn't want to rewatch it, as I've said before, but something he said got me very intrigued and last week ended up with me staying until 7am for a virtual watch party that got pretty hilarious, but not for the yoi reasons lol.
So just know that to be completely fair we did it and I'm saying everything below with a very fresh impression, which hasn't changed really bc like I'm 25, I was watching it the first time when I was 21, not 14 xD. I think it got worse actually.
Once again, I know that since theyâre both gay sports animes comparisons are inevitable, but to me one has nothing to do with the other and no matter the fact that I adore Free! and donât like YOI, I donât want to throw words like smth is âsuperiorâ out there, bc I donât want to be like those YOI fans back in the days, who thought that none other gay ships should exist after this (unless they say smth specifically for me to counterattack, then I can say whatever lol).
Like if you love stories like this, itâs okay. Like what you like. But to yell at everybody that they must think that this is how relationships should be and trash every other gay ship in existence, you maybe should not, especially when you donât really have much to be proud of. Just like kisses donât make a love story high-quality, full censorship doesnât take away a good love story.
"Heaven officialâs blessingâ is also censored, but no matter how much you censor it, their love for each other is seen in their actions so clear, that it is in fact will not take anything away from the power of their feelings and the greatness of their love story if at the end they wonât show them kissing. Just like if I kiss a random stranger on the street, it wonât make us the best couple in the world.
Now I went into watching YOI unbiased the 1st time I watched it (I did watch it after Free, bc it was in ârecommendedâ). I did not expect it to be âlike Freeâ, I just wanted smth thatâll give me the same kind of emotion, investment in the story, ship, etc. It didnât, so I just moved on.
I didnât even think deep about why. I thought I just grew out of the âCinderellaâ stories a long time ago or as it was here not very gracefully called âhow to turn the pig into the princeâ.
Like if you want the âsheâs all thatâ but with the boy instead of a girl, youâll probably enjoy YOI. But once again, love stories I enjoy are the opposite of those. It's really nothing bad, if you enjoy the stuff like âSomeday my prince will comeâ in whatever age tbh, but I since a certain age just wasnât invested in those anymore and began to obsess with stories like âAnastasiaâ instead, and Iâm talking about love stories with less naivety in between and feelings out of nowhere, but more stuff like âyes, bitch, I find you attractive, true, but whether I fall for you unconditionally or not, only real life situations will tell later onâ.
And I donât mean stuff like going through war together or some epic journey, but grown ups must know those. Those life situations or even tiny things someone do, that make you not only fall for someone, but think âyeah, I can imagine my life with youâ.
Like in my humble opinion, you canât fall in love with someone bc of the way they swim or skate, for example. What ppl call âlove at first sightâ is in fact âattraction at first sightâ. So yes, we do joke about Rin falling in love at first sight, bc he did in fact walked into the hall, saw Haru and was like âdat bitch is so fineâ, even tho he was just standing there, but once again, he was just attracted to him. What happens after this is you can go on a whole beautiful journey with tiny Rin putting together the prettiest puzzle of why he falls for Nanase Haruka. In such little things like when Haru slowed down when he saw Nagisa feeling bad during running and Rin was like âomg youâre so uwuâ, how he mentions that he always helps ppl, but never asks for help himself, he slowly gradually paints a picture of what kind of person Haru is, same goes for Haru about Rin. And then you have a whole story of them falling for each other all over again when theyâre already adults, and you again watch it through their eyes, and once again Iâm not in fact talking about some grand gestures like 1x12, Iâm talking about stuff like them focusing on Haruâs eyes shaking, when he saw that Rin secretly helps Rei to learn how to swim. Itâs the little things, that you watch and you get why they feel what they feel for each other. And that also makes you fall in love more with their characters by seeing how the other sees them.
YOI doesnât have those moments. Not only they werenât in any situations that would make them know each other for who they really are, they hardly even know the basic info about one another. Hell, the viewer doesnât know anything about them. And this is why to me it goes into the category of those typical romcoms I canât get invested in.
So I donât think these two can be compared. And while some yell âbc youâre not canon, but yoi is canonâ, I think they canât be compared for another reason. Bc some ppl are trying to prove to me that a 27 years old man fell head over heels in love with someone overnight during a drunk banquet, then watched a vid of him skating and flew to another country and hey âif you win a gold medal, lets get marriedâ. This is not the kind of relationship progression Iâm looking for like at all. Between that time he started training him and their âcensored kissâ there was nothing and I mean nothing thatâd made me go âyeah, I see why he loves himâ.
But anyways, lets live piecefully really, you can like one, you can like both, itâs all okay.
Like I know many have ptsd and itâs true that back when YOI was popular, most of their fans for real did annoy to death almost everyone, bc they yelled that No.6 is trash, when someone said âbut youâre not the only one gay story thatâs not based on sexâ. They yelled that Free! has no right to exist bc its queerbating (LOL). By that time, Iâm not gonna lie I was ready to poke my eyes out each time I saw smth YOI related, bc it was like: you make a multigay shipping vid - Â âhow dare u not include YOIâ, you make a gifset - âyou forgot YOIâ like I HAD TO like it just bc itâs gay. There is no such rule to me. Just like I donât care for some hetero romances, I donât care for some gay romances. Simple is that. Once again gay has nothing to do with the relationships dynamic and the story.
Yeah, comments about fanservice. Like why should I watch Victorâs naked ass for several minutes every episode, but donât get to see Haru or Rinâs at least once? So salty rn.
Free is more fanservice-y.. well, itâs hella fanservicy, yes, but like we canât swim in shirts, you can tho not show naked ass in each episode, I thought you were skating.Â
See, itâs all debatable.
But I do wish ppl stop putting yoi relationships on a piedestal, their relationship are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too far from being inspirational for many and not even close to the what love is in my opinion. If you seek smth of a very high standart of gay love, choose MDZS for example, idk. But donât throw YOI at ppls faces as a âthis is how should beâ. Not everyone wants that.
I donât need a half-assed engagement and esp the censored kiss (like either do it or donât do it at all honestly). Also stuff like this should carry weight. I donât want things for the sake of things.
Like to me Rinâs âthe only thing that hasnât changed in my life is how I feel about youâ speech, considering the fact that he felt like that throughout all those years, means hella more, than this.Â
I think 1stly, itâs because of the âitâs like it was a destiny xDâ factor and 2ndly, bc at least this scene gives a little more sense to the fact that he flew to another country to train him. Now itâs if âI fell MADLY in love in one drunk night and was pining my whole life after that and that vid was a sign for me to go see you againâ makes any sense to you. At least thatâs how some fans read it.
Once again it might be a good thing for a passable one-time romantic comedy. But plots and pairings like this is what made me turn to anime in the first place, so.. sorry lol.
All this mega tragic posts of âVictor was soooo in love for such long time, itâs so sadâ made me laugh so hard. Like he feel in love so hard during a one drunk banquet with a guy who was so drunk he didnât remember anything he did? WHY? HOW? what could he possibly do to make him fall that hard, no one knows. Like to me the only reason u can fall for someone in one night is if you saw him risking his life saving a kitten or a puppy from a car or smth.
Iâm just not the kind of person who thinks you can fall for someone for no reasons. Again, you can find someone attractive and go from there, but there must be things along the way that will make me believe in the progression of it. It can of course all come in the future, but the story was what the story was. Whatever you are trying to add to it is already a fanfiction.
YOI is not boring per se, bc everything goes way too fast and sometimes with no reasoning, so I was more surprised that âthis was it?â lmao. But their relationships are dull, yes. Bc there is nothing to even discuss really, you can only assume things, bc the whole thing didnât give u much, esp in the characters department. Itâs just really funny to me that someone would write a whole post of âI love this character bc I presume heâs like thatâ, usually itâs âI love this character bc facts, facts, factsâ.
______
Now back to the beginning of my post and to the funny story that happened. We were randomly discussing shit, when I mentioned about possibly rewatching YOI, bc I didnât want to start talking about smth in case I forgot some stuff (I didnât btw lol) and turned out that he freaking disliked it a lot. I never even asked, for some reason, and weâve been yelling about Free! and other stuff for ages and like his boyfriend is in love with Sousuke and they both adore rinharu to death.
And he has lots of gay friends who love Free (this made me happy the most, btw during our YOI chat I asked and it was 4:1 harurin:rinharu haha I win) and some ships from Haikyuu too, but turns out that literally none of them were into YOI. And the funniest thing he said was âbc it felt more heterosexual than some heterosexual stories Iâve watchedâ. Now I donât know if it would make sense to anyone else out there, but I kinda did get what he meant.
I asked if it was bc of the âfairytale settingâ and the fact that no one cared that theyâre gay (bc âin front of the stadium?!â was the reaction, when I told them âthere was a cencored kiss hereâ (btw not everyone got it lolz) and then âdid they just write the story with a girl, but then changed it by the end?â), but they said âno, just the overall feelingâ.
And like everyone knows that YOI targeted audience is hetero girls. It wasnât made for the sake of the LGBT community and none of the homophobic ppl will watch it either, no matter what some think. So for whom they did it the way they did it is very questionable tbh. They say itâs the LGBT representation in anime, and yes, good, great, always happy about, but isnât it kinda funny that some of LGBT representatives donât even feel like it apparently.
Now Iâm just saying some, Iâve asked him to ask around out of curiousity, and it was only 11 gay guys in total, who watched it, including our company and his bf who was forced into it haha, but 11 is quite a lot, considering the fact that not even 1 liked it. But then somehow stuff like MDZS and even uncanonical mikayuu was highly appreciated and loved, bc it accidentally made a dent in some extra conservative parents and dull ppl.
Itâs just much more interesting to hear what guys who are actually dating guys think about all those kind of animes and ships, than some girls here who yell at me stuff like âwhy are you supporting queerbatingâ. Btw I asked Alex if heâs offended by that, he said âno, but we for real think theyâre doing itâ lmao.
It is supposed to be funny. You didnât get it wrong. But if you saw many ppl would aggressively disagree with you. I just thought that âanalysisâ was an âinterpretive process that draws conclusions from a set of factsâ, not âwriting a fanfiction based on assumptionsâ, but then again to each their own.Â
The problem is that I donât even get whatâs cute about it, itâs just absurd to me. Like itâs pulled out of an ass, for real. Theyâre not in the stage of a relationships, when I would find such thing romantic. And all the agressive denying of the fact that it was indeed wedding rings made this scene cringy, too. The whole thing is cringy to me idk. The âwin the gold, only then weâll get marriedâ.... It all gave me a weird feeling. The opposite of âtouchingâ.
So in conclusion, when you skip most of the important parts of the love story and jump into stuff just for the sake of it, then also make fun of it, it leaves a hella weird impression and aparently not just to me.
And once again trying to market some primitive story as an epic love story, just bc itâs gay is extremely weird to me. If you make 50 shades of grey gay, itâs not gonna suddenly become a pulitzer prize winning kind of book, itâll stay the same dumb af story with dumb af characters, but gay.
So being happy about some representation (and btw they still managed to add stuff like âits not gay if you exchange rings with your hommiesâ here and there and make it âhahahaha jokingâ), I get it, but to say that this what all the gay ships should aim for, pls stop. We really donât wanna. Sincerelly.Â
We here stick to a motto âI can picture the kiss of the characters whose story is so amazing, that the kiss is the only thing missing, but if I basically have just a picture of two guys kissing, I wonât write a whole story myself.â
P.S. I will forever laugh now tho at the fact that calling your bf a âpigâ and being an arogant asshole without any canonically established reasonings is a great relationships, but Adam with his past gets what he gets now for the âdogâ comments even tho his bf enjoys it lmao like I did not remember this bits in YOI. I honestly thought it was like completely âunproblematicâ one, but itâs like hilariously not. So what ppl are trying to even put out their as a âpinnacle of the lgbt representationâ as you say, like there are for real older yaois that are much better than this.

Patchy
A little under two years ago I made this post, a chronicle of Patchy, the outside feral, turned inside kitty who took ten years to learn to love being petted.
Today we got some bad news.
TW for pet illness under the cut.
Patchyâs always been a bit of a puker, usually oh, say, once a month or so sheâd have a good puke for no reason. Iâve had other cats that are pukers so itâs not that surprising.
In the late winter/early spring I started to notice more frequent pukes.
Iâd decided around that time that I needed to find healthier food for my cats, with Leela, the oldest turning 16, Fry turning 11, Pemily turning 7 and Patchy turning, I donât know, 12 or 13. No way to really know. They already got decent food, but I did my research and had started looking at Blue Buffalo, American Journey and Daveâs canned food.Â
Patchy had been on a mostly canned food diet since she went to the vet back in early 2020 and had a bunch of teeth pulled. Also, as a note, Patchyâs brief flirtation with hanging out in the rest of the house ended after like a month. She and Fry fought too much, and eventually he claimed the rest of the house is his. He also still thinks the master bedroom should be his, but, Patchy defends that territory well if anyone else encroaches. (The door just stays closed most of the time.) I really wish they could have all gotten along, I loved having Patchy out, but both Fry and Patchy agreed it wasnât going to work.
The food sheâd been on was pretty junk-food-ish though, which she did love and eat. But I wanted everyone on more or less the same diet and the highest quality food I could readily get them. So I bought a lot of cans of different kinds of food, and kept a list of which ones seemed to be hits and misses. (I still have a dozen cans of the kind nobody liked -- Blue Buffalo Wilderness Salmon -- Iâve been meaning to take to the city shelter).
Around halfway into this experiment I noticed Patchy puking more, so I decided to try to stick with her favorite kinds, which, I thought was helping.
But once I was fully vaccinated this year, it was time to get all the pets to the vet. I noticed Patchy had still lost some weight, I thought it was due to switching around her food too much earlier, and tried to stick with the things I felt she really liked.
Then, of course, Leela got sick, spent two and a half days in the pet ER and almost died back in April, and then it was like... yeah weâre done being afraid of COVID, weâre done waiting. Itâs time to get them all their checkups.
My regular vet was doing COVID restrictions so no pet owners inside the clinic back then, so they took Patchy (and the others) in without me. I thought Patchy had lost some weight, but Dr. B. sounded alarmed when he called me with how much lost sheâd lost in the last year, about five pounds. He wanted to do some bloodwork for Patchy, and I said of course go for it. Â
He called back, sounding much calmer and was like âher bloodwork couldnât be more perfect. Letâs try switching up her food, get her on some sensitive stomach food and letâs see how sheâs doing in a couple weeks.â
So two weeks later it did seem like she was doing better, I called Dr. B back and he said to bring her back in a month.
It was my plan to take her back next week when I had some PTO coming. I admit, later than planned... my last couple of months have been mucn more focused on Leela... who, thankfully, continues to thrive. But feeling like my time with her is running out, sheâs been my main area of concern.
The last few days though, Patchy has really not been eating well. Sometimes she does OK, sometimes nothing at all. And then puking every day. I swapped her back even to a few cans of the Junk Food (Whiskas) I still had laying around. Sheâd eat it... and then puke it up. And also she... stopped sleeping with me. I thought... well, itâs summer. Itâs probably too hot to cuddle. But she stopped laying on the bed. She stopped coming up for pets when I come to bed and hang out for awhile specifically to spend time with her and pet her. She runs under the bed again when I come into the room. Itâs like we regressed to three or four years ago... just two weeks after our two year anniversary of getting to pet her.
So this afternoon we went to the vet. Getting her into the carrier sucked. I tried nice methods, then I had to scare her into the closet by running the vacuum, and then pretty roughly grab her. I have scratches and a pretty deep bite on my thumb which either maybe hit a nerve or is infected, may have to go to the doctor for it tomorrow. (Yes, washed it thoroughly with soap as soon as I could.) I also hated betraying her trust that badly, but itâs for her own good. But it was rough.
Dr B. wasnât working so I saw one of the other vets. I liked him. Also COVID restrictions are gone so I got to go inside. But after talking to him for a few minutes, going over her history and what changes Iâve made, he spent a long time rubbing her intestines (Patchy was perfectly behaved, at least.)  Then he looked concerned. Then he said letâs do an ultrasound.
A few minutes he came back in and showed me her scans.Â
Lymphoma.
I was a bit stunned for a second so I missed a bit of the technical speak he said next, but it came down to the best thing we could do is give her some medicine that may buy her more time. It doesnât sound like Chemo or Operating is even really an option. Iâm going to call back tomorrow and see if Dr. B or the vet I talked to can talk me through it a little better now that Iâve had a chance to digest.
If I can get Patchy to take the medicine, and if she responds well to it... she may have 3 - 6 months left.
If she wonât take it, or if she doesnât respond, itâs at this point, a matter of her comfort and quality of life. So... weeks. And Iâm worried about getting her to take the medicine, especially since she wonât even come let me pet her and we just had a huge trust betrayal today. I donât know if I could take her spending her last few weeks hating me, especially if the medicine doesnât work.
The vet also told me that... I didnât do anything wrong. And we did the right thing six or so weeks ago by changing her food and seeing if a few other things worked. Especially with how good her blookwork looked. He barely felt the cancer today, he said six weeks ago Dr. B wouldnât have been able to feel it at all. And for this particular type of lymphoma... thereâs not a lot to be done, anyway. That made me feel better, at least.
(As a really dumb side note, after I got her home, I sat down to eat dinner and watch an episode of Star Trek to take my mind off of all of this since Iâd been crying since I found out, paid my bill, and drove home, stopping at a drive through so I didnât have the mental load of cooking. And Iâm in the middle of my rewatch of Enterprise. I bet any trekkies reading this can guess what episode was next in my rewatch because yep Iâm in season two and A NIGHT IN SICKBAY started playing, of course, so obviously I NOPED THE FUCK OUT OF THAT EPISODE. For the non-Trekkies.... the Captain has a dog on board, an adorable beagle, Porthos. The dog gets sick and almost dies and spends his night in Sickbay. He does pull through. But the ONE episode centered around a beloved pet getting sick and almost dying... and thatâs the episode that fate decreed I was supposed to watch tonight. I did not. I donât know if I can watch it anytime soon.)
So now for the next few weeks I will spend my time being grateful that Leela is alive and thriving and pray she keeps doing so -- I will continue to give her extra love and care and attention, and also I will need to do the same for Patchy. I canât even do it at the same time because Patchy will not come out here, and will not allow Leela in her room.Â
I am low-key freaking out that thereâs the possibility of the nightmare scenario happening to me again. In winter 2016, after months of being sick, I woke up on Christmas morning and my 16-year-old cat Jim had died overnight. It was terrible, and traumatic, and I had to deal with everything all alone because anyone who could support me was... well, it was Christmas morning and my family was all out of town, too. Posting about it on Tumblr... actually really helped me, since itâs the only place I felt like I could talk about it.
That Christmas was on a Sunday.
Wednesday morning I woke up to hearing my dog, Cebu, moaning in pain.  I rushed him to the vet, but whatever happened overnight, it was too late, maybe there wasnât anything we ever could have done even if Iâd been awake when the puking started. The vet said the kindest thing we could do was put him to sleep. And we did.
Also I just, JUST now realized that the vet who helped put Cebu to sleep was the same vet who I saw today about Patchy.
But I lost two of my pets within 3 days of each other. I was very lucky that my job let us have the week between Christmas and New Years off that year. I had a few days to pull myself together, and I needed it. It took months to recover totally, though. Every once in awhile I think about that week and I still cry, though. I miss them both so much and they both had deaths that were less than ideal.
I remember thinking then âI have like, five years of reprive. Leela will be sixteen in five years, and thatâs when I have to start to worry again, when I have to be ready to say goodbye again.â
I thought then that even after that Iâd have two or three years until Patchy would leave me, and two or three years past that until Fry. And then five more years with Pemily.
Right now Iâm realizing that I will likely lose Patchy, very best case in six months, but possibly before July is over.
I need Leela to keep thriving. I donât know how I would handle losing another two so close together again.
Patchy is... sheâs the one who chose me. I chose my other cats. Fry and Pemily I plucked from the backyard when they were tiny kittens and brought them inside. They didnât have a choice. Leela I adopted from a rescue, she didnât have a choice. Patchy chose to stay. She chose to stick around when she realized Iâd feed her. It took years but she learned to trust, she chose to come inside when it was cold, when it was hot, when it was storming, and when she was pregnant. She chose me to help raise the last litter of kittens sheâd ever had. (My entire Rescue Kitties tag is full of adventures in finding, raising and usually adopting out strays. Lots and lots of posts about Patchy and her final litter. Been awhile since Iâve done it, though.)
I used to joke that Patchy was my roommate, not a pet. She ate, drank, did her business, and kept to herself for a long time. Donât get me wrong, she was a very good, quiet, considerate roommate and I loved her. But it wasnât until that wonderful day she let me pet her that I felt like she was my pet.Â
I loved having her just hanging out living in the house since 2014, but the last two years especially have brought me such joy. Iâve tried to never take Patchyâs trust in me for granted. It was EARNED. Every small step forward was a milestone to be celebrated. I worked for every bit of trust and love Patchy has given me, and have been rewarded. And it was worth it. Every minute. Every long, patient year.
Even now Iâm telling myself... without me, she would have died years ago. Probably violently, or starved, maybe frozen to death. Getting to die of cancer brought on by older age is not something that most feral cats ever get to do. Getting to become an inside kitty where sheâs loved, and comfortable for the second half of her life was something remarkable, brought on by her wiles and will to survive for so many years, bolstered by the food I left out for her. Sheâs had this much time, this much life, this much comfort and love that she would have never had otherwise, and thatâs something to be happy about.
Iâve watched dozens of ferals come and go through my neighborhood throughout the years. I feed them, I work on seeing if I can get them to trust me enough to let me TNR them, but even those that I have, I donât keep seeing for much longer. Thereâs one right now, I jokingly call him Patchyâs Boyfriend. He still wonât trust me and never has fallen for the trap when Iâve tried. But heâs there most nights when I feed him around 11. Heâs getting terribly thin despite the quality food I leave out. Iâll miss him.
But none of them were Patchy. None of them became what she is to me. None of them survived long enough to adapt and decide to live another life.
Also? I wouldnât have Pemily without her. Pemily is literally Patchyâs Granddaughter and that is one more thing I love Patchy for.
I feel guilty sometimes, both because I donât spend nearly enough waking hours with her I feel, but I have three others who need me, as well. One whoâs time is growing short, as well. And they donât get to sleep with me, she does. What a joy it was all winter when I would wake up and sheâd be sleeping on my chest. Iâd get a bit annoyed when sheâd sleep with her backside to my face and her tail would tickle my face and wake me up. Iâm a side-sleeper half the night and she hated that it was harder to get comfortable on me that way. She still doesnât want to have my hand just stay on her, she wants pets and skirtches, no long-form touching. Thatâs ok. I sleep better with her weight on me.
I donât know what the next few weeks or months will hold, but at least pet-wise, itâs going to be rough. Iâm going to wrap this up and give these three out here a good pet, then go hope Patchy comes and asks for love, too. Tomorrow is one more day with all four of them, and for that, Iâll be grateful, for every remaining day.

YGO Questionnaire Part 2 Electric Boogaloo
So, my gf/bf @howaboutalittlehelpneos tagged me to do this again a... good long while ago, and I had wanted to wait until I'd finished my GX rewatch before trying this again. But ouch oof I accidentally also got through all of 5Ds again before getting to this lol
But the 5Ds rewatch definitely reshaped a lot of my thoughts, so... cracks knuckles. This won't be spoiler free, fair warning~
Favorite Series: ugh the formatting killed my original essay on this but okay GX and 5Ds are pretty tied in my book, now-- I love them equally, but in different ways! GX fulfills my love for subversive coming-of-age stories with a heartwarming, humorous, and also soulcrushing touch, and I love how each season brings a new story and new characters-- it's like reading installments of a novel series, and I think the formatting works wonders for it as a whole. It has some absolutely phenomenal character writing, too-- even the characters I dislike are ones I can appreciate for what they introduce to the story! And honestly, not enough people give the first two seasons of GX the credit it deserves: they're half the charm, really. How are you going to feel the full impact of the heartbreaking content in seasons 3 and 4 if you aren't properly attached to the characters?
But on 5Ds's side of things... it fulfills my love for stories with time loops, found family, human nature, and of course, love and death and how they intertwine. I love how the leading characters are just a bunch of broken kids from broken circumstances who all find a home with each other, and of course, how it highlights class disparity and how fucked up the prison/"justice" systems are. Yea, sure, maybe it underwent executive meddling and all, but I genuinely love it for what it is and I wish more people appreciated it... my only problem with 5Ds is the untwist with Z-ONE and then the ending s m h I adore it overall and I could go off for a long while on it. Overall, these are my two instinctive recommendations for anyone getting into Yugioh!
(look at these boys they're so important) Favorite Protagonist: Oh, believe me, absolutely nothing has changed here-- Yusei Fudo is and always will be my favorite protagonist, and my rewatch only solidified that.
I just... love him so much? He's seen so much hell in his life and carries so much guilt on his shoulders, but he still has room in his heart to believe in others and to believe that anyone can defy fate and find hope even at rock bottom. I love that he's initially introduced as this quiet, brooding figure when he really just turns out to be a huge softie who wears his heart on his sleeve half the time and wants to bring about change for Satellite and its people. Plus I just really love that his greatest flaw is something that would ordinarily be a positive trait-- he's Overly self-sacrificial, to the point where he's basically setting himself on fire to keep others warm, and that's not really framed as something Heroic
Just... he makes me so happy. I have two Yusei charms that I ordinarily keep on my keys (one was a gift from Zenzen) and they're a constant source of serotonin for me. He's Peak comfort character for me. Best protag in my book Favorite Rival: Same deal here-- still Manjoume!
look at him he's so important
While he spends a lot of the anime getting the good old damsel in distress treatment (getting suckered into a cult, getting knocked into a coma, becoming a zombie, getting fucking Killed, etc), I still think his character arc is really well-written overall and I only appreciated it even more when I watched GX again. I love the fact that he's got a soft heart he buries beneath the edgy facade, and that he's simultaneously really sharp and also kind of dense lol. He's just a fun character and watching how he evolves from episode one to episode one hundred eighty is such a satisfying journey.
Plus, props to him for being such a versatile duelist-- 50 wins in a row is HARD as is, let alone with a deck full of cards he just found laying around in the Arctic. Three ace monsters, three different archetypes... he's a really good duelist and I'm proud of him for it
Oh, but honestly, I don't really dislike any of the rivals-- I'm neutral towards Revolver and Reiji, but the remaining four (Kaiba, Manjoume, Jack, and Shark) compel me. yes I accidentally wound up liking Jack Atlas shhh Favorite BFF: Honestly, I really like most of the characters who fit this archetype-- Joey, Crow, Gongenzaka, Soulburner... I still lean a little bit more towards Joey, but I really appreciate all four of them. I'm gonna say Joey again, just because I find his evolution as a character the most compelling, but I appreciate the other three a lot. Soulburner has the best design though Favorite GFF: Oh absolutely still Aki, but I honestly... really love most female Yugioh characters? I'm assuming this is lead girls only, but like. I'm dumb and gay and I love Girls so this is naturally the most difficult one for me to answer lol
Aki just resonates with me the most because she's the prime example of how trauma doesn't always manifest in palatable ways-- when we first meet her, she's angry and lashes out at anyone and anything just because she wants the world to suffer in the same ways she's suffered, and then... we get to watch her grow from that, once she's free from Divine and able to heal the way she needs to heal. I know the second half of 5Ds didn't give her character the attention it deserved, but I'm still proud of her for winding up on the path she did-- seeing her channel her power and energy into wanting to heal and help others was just so good and was one of the few things I really Loved about the 5Ds ending.
oh, but like. Asuka Tenjoin and Aoi Zaizen are very close seconds for me!!! Aki just has a vice grip on my heart Favorite Villain: Okay, it's still technically Vector-- I think he's the most entertaining, well-written, and effective villain out of all of the ones we've seen so far, but... I also want to add Takuma Saiou and then all of Yliaster as honorable mentions?
As someone fond of tarot myself, I was naturally pretty intrigued by Saiou the first time I watched GX, but my attachment to him only grew the second time around where I actually got the chance to understand his character better. Plus, like... the visuals with him are fucking astounding and he's always so interesting to watch.
As for Yliaster, I just... really love how the big bad of 5Ds turned out to just essentially be a broken man desperate to save anyone and anything and three robotic reconstructions of the friends he'd lost. I still think the untwist with Z-ONE was stupid and I much prefer the idea of him and Yusei being the same person, but I'm still compelled by the other three-- well. Paradox less so, because we don't get a lot of Paradox lore, but. Aporia and Antinomy for sure.
ugh Yugioh has some damn good villains
Favorite Card: now that I actually play the TCG game...
Stardust is always going to be my favorite of all cards because it checks every box for me (my favorite YGO character's ace monster, space theme, what more could I want), but Aromaseraphy Rosemary has really become one of my aces in my best TCG deck! I'm still mastering irl plays, but I'm happy with my progress and I love my plant gang...
Favorite Episode: alright, here's where there's actually been a Lot of change, so...
Season 0: Episode 16: "Turnabout by a Hair's Breadth - The White-Robed Crisis" -- The more I think about this one, the more I love it; there's a... lot of corruption in the medical industry, and I've seen a lot of it firsthand, so just. Seeing a corrupt doctor get what he deserved at the end was cathartic, in a way? Plus, a Jounouchi-centric episode is always a good time.
Duel Monsters: Episodes 96-97: "Darkness vs. Darkness/One Turn Kill" -- this hasn't changed, I still love seeing Marik and Bakura bitch at each other for two whole episodes LMAO
GX: Episode 152: "Activate Super-Fusion! Rainbow Neos" -- This one hasn't changed and it likely never will-- I take so much pride in seeing Judai push forward, past the fear and guilt he's carrying, all to save Johan... it's cathartic and I never get sick of watching it.
5Ds: sweats. still all of Crash Town, but also episodes 137-147-- the Ark Cradle is one of my favorite parts of 5Ds and one of my favorite YGO arcs period, and even though each duel is a fucking gut punch, I love the emotional intensity and weight in each episode... It hurts but in a mostly good way
Zexal: Episode 143: "The Aloof Duelist 'Nasch': The Destined Final Duel" -- this one hasn't changed! Still hurts, still love it, I still weep over Ryouga Shark Kamishiro on a daily basis
Arc-V: Episodes 81-82: "Our Respective Battlefields/The Ultimate Falcon VS The Black-Feathered Thunder" -- Okay, honestly, this was hard because I... genuinely. really don't like Arc-V very much at all lol (it's just not my cup of tea, but more power to those who do like it!), but I thought this duel was a lot of fun! Shun is my absolute favorite from Arc-V and I really like the friendship he struck up with Crow a lot, so here we are
VRAINS (so far): Episode 25-26: "Virus Deck Operation/Three Draws Leading to Hope" -- honestly I am so biased because I just really love Blue Angel and I loved seeing her get a well-deserved victory like this lol. I'm not done with VRAINS, so this is probably gonna change, but anytime Blue Angel or Soulburner are on screen, I'm happy
Favorite Decks to Use: Aromages will always have my heart, but I adore Cyber Angels too! I'm building my Trickstar deck, my Synchron/Stardust deck (just waiting on Dawn of Majesty...), and my Magician Girls deck, too! Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, or Link?: Synchros my beloved... but also Ritual Years in fandom: I've been here for just a little over one year now! and I wuv it... I'm never looking back Who am I tagging: no one I'm too shy

SNK
<3. Maybe this could help me remember why I dedicated so much time and tears and words onto this story lmao.
My favorite female character:
Mikasa Ackerman. Listen Mikasa was love at first sight. I remember watching ep 1 for the first time and as soon as Mikasa appeared I was like INSTANT FAV. I adore so much about Mikasa: her bravery, the intensity of her emotions, how pragmatic she tries to be, her emotional strenght, her dedication towards her loved ones and duties, how kind she is. What's there not to love about this girl? Every time I see people shitting or making fun of her in the fandom my blood literally boils :)
My favorite male character:
I'm an Eren stan first and a person second. Unlike Mikasa, with Eren I fell in love without realising. Thinking back, I always felt intrigued by him. His anger and dedication to his beliefs managed to keep me interested, and by the time I jumped from s2 to the middle of Uprising I had the epiphany: aftee chapters and chapters of Eren missing I was like but where's Eren???? Is he ok??? When am I gonna see him again???? It was at that time I realised he had become my indisputable number one character. I just love everything about him. His strenght and vulnerabilty. The contrast between the sweetness of his dreams and the blood he willingly sheds to reach them. The current tragedy of his life, the unfairness of the weight he's carrying over his shoulders, the horror of all of it has me constantly in tears. I'd argue Eren's fate is one of the only things keeping me still tied to this manga, even if I grew to dislike almost everything else about it.
My favorite book/season/etc:
In terms of arcs, Trost and Return to Shiganshina remain my favorites. Trost because it was the turning point; i divide my experience as before and after trost. Before Trost I was a casual watcher without any kind of serious commitment to the story. After Trost tho, I was hooked.
As for RTS well... for being an action packed arc it had everything: the dread of the unknown attacks from the enemies, the bitterness of all the soldiers who laid out their lives for their beliefs. The pain of seeing people so young, on both sides, trapped in such a circle of bloodshed and death, unable to communicate with each other. Seeing people give their everything, their lives and futures and dreams, all of it, and the tragedy of those same lives cut short. The coolest battles (at that time at least): Levi vs Beast Titan; Mikasa, Sasha, Connie and Jean vs Reiner; Eren and Armin vs Bert. Remembering RTS is a bittersweet experience, because all of it was so utterly unfair. Grrr.
My favorite episode:
For this I'll go with the manga:
The clash of the titans (35-50) because I love Sasha, Ymir, the confirmation of my theory about the identities of the armoured and colossal titans, the first glimpses into the world outside the walls, Erwin's charge, my beloved Hannes noble and so very brave sacrifice, and finally Eren activating the coordinate for the first time. I love those chapters.
The Reiss chapel chapters because Eren and all the staggering revelations those chapters bring to the table.
Chapter 90 aka one of my most beloved chapters ever. Also one the most tragic ones. A part of me (and Eren) died at that sea.
Chapters 97-105 because ANGST ANGST ANGST.
Chapter 114 because I think Isayama considering the time constrictions did an amazing job unraveling Zeke as a character, his motivations and what exactly moved him.
And finally my most resent favorite trio: 119-121. The unbearable pain of 119, the mind boggling discoverings of the path dimension, Grisha's journey and the mystery of the Attack Titan. All I can say is that I was a very sad woman when the story moved away from paths.
My favorite cast member:
The only reason I'm bothering to eventually watch season 4 is bc Yuki Kaji.
My favorite ship:
SNK is the only manga/anime/story where I never shipped anything. I'm still trying to understand why that is. You see, I'm an avid shipper. A very commited shiper. I have tons of otps and multiple ships in almost every piece of media I've ever seen. But there's something in snk that just... never activated the shipper switch in my brain. And honestly, thank god for that.
A character I'd die defending:
I'm an Eren stan first and a person second. Let me enjoy my tragic son in peace ok.
A character I just can't sympathize with:
I'm a very empathic person. It costs me nothing to put myself in the shoes of almost any character and in a manga as snk that is a valuable skill, because the story itself demands that you try to do that. So even if I don't like a character (Magath for example), I can more or less understand where they are coming from. The sole exceptions are the first King Fritz (because he's trash and horrible and a slaver and a rapist and all the bad things to ever exist) and Darius Zackly (because I hate the military and especially hate gross old men who get off on torturing people. I was very glad when I finally could say bye bye to his horrid self đ
).
A character I grew to love:
FREAKING ZEKE. I love monkey man. Honestly my fondness for him was a weird trip: one moment I was cursing him for not dying under Levi's blades, and as soon as he said he cared about Eren I was like oh shit no I can see myself liking him. Then Marley happened and Zeke was one the few characters who managed to make that lecture bearable until Eren and the rest of the gang arrived (in case you are curious, the other one is best boi Falco). Finally I read 114 and my love was cemented. I really hope Isamaya hurries up and explains what happened to him.
My anti otp:
Oh dear. Usually if the shippers are more or less polite I don't have problems with any of the ships bc I don't really ship anything. But there are three ships I just... can't see. The ships I blacklisted bc they are popular ones and my dash was filled with rb of them. Ereri. Rivamika. And ReinerHistoria. Sorry fans but I just CAN'T with those three.
#ask replies#snk#snk spoilers#thanks for asking!!!!!#lmao i wonder how many ereri followers im going to lose for this

Doctor Who: Why Jodie Whittakerâs Doctor Needs an âEverybody Lives!â Moment
https://ift.tt/39pw5MX
Doctor Who! The childrenâs own show that adults adore.
Doctor Who, as a format, requires an intrinsic joyfulness in its stories to be so adored. If adventures become too continually grim, or not sufficiently fun, then ultimately thereâll be a tipping point where it becomes implausible for the story to continue. Why, ultimately, would the character keep travelling if they werenât enjoying it? And even if they did, would this be something that would sustain a family audience?
Itâs not that you canât have darkness in Doctor Who, itâs just that it canât be sustained and eventually something has to give. As such, thereâs an inherent optimism in a lot of Doctor Who, even in episodes where it isnât high in the mix. For the show to make sense, there has to be some hope that wrongs can be righted.
For example: even though William Hartnellâs Doctor starts off trying break his own programme by getting rid of Ian and Barbara as quickly as possible, the show quickly settles into âa great spirit of adventureâ; the Second Doctor comforting a grieving Victoria by pointing out that ânobody else in the universe can do what weâre doingâ followed by the Doctor letting Victoria leave the TARDIS because itâs the best thing for her. In both cases, the gesture is one of compassion. The Fourth Doctor refers to Sarah Jane Smith as his best friend and she only leaves because he has to go somewhere she canât (His home planet of Gallifrey, something that on original broadcast had more dramatic weight as heâd only visited it once before in the series and then been forced into regeneration and exile).
When Russell T. Davies relaunched the show in 2005, the unspoken idea became explicit. âCan I just say: travelling with youâŚI love it,â says Rose Tyler, who â despite portentous trailer statements â survived her travels. In episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures Russell T. Davies expanded on the Tenth Doctorâs victory lap in âThe End of Timeâ to make it more celebratory, giving past companions happy endings (some in stark contrast to their grim fates in Ninetiesâ spin-off media). The departures of Rose and Donna are tragic, but the journeys to get there are framed in terms of joy and excitement.
The next showrunner, Steven Moffat, preferred happy endings. Companions had previously been married off (Susan, Vicki, Jo, Leela, Peri) as they left the show. Amy Pond got married and stayed, travelling with her husband. This was a leap forward, but unfortunately the following seriesâ pregnancy storyline was handled poorly and attempts to deal with its repercussions were not successful either. Clara, the next companion, dared to be like the Doctor but unlike Donna managed to both die and have a happy ending.
Moffat enjoyed Immortal LGBT+ Women Having Adventures in Space so much that he used it again for Bill Potts in Series 10. An important aspect of both charactersâ storylines is that they suffer a terrible fate, but the version of Doctor Who in which companions die is rejected in favour of one where they get what they live happily ever after. Moffat, a comedy writer to his core, was unwilling to make Doctor Who a story where travelling on the TARDIS left you in a worse place. Davies also tried to give his companions happy endings of sorts to ameliorate their loss.
If we look at the populist peaks of the show, Doctor Who has never been overwhelmingly cynical. Whenever itâs been taken in a darker direction it usually rejects that approach in favour of a lighter balance. In Season 21 the show put its characters through a series of almost unrelenting grimness (âThe Awakeningâ, the story where a demonic entity attempts to get an entire village to slaughter each other is the light and fluffy one) culminating in the Fifth Doctorâs heroic regeneration story âThe Caves of Androzaniââ voted the best Doctor Who story in several polls â where the Doctor goes to extreme lengths to save his companion and distances himself from the violence that surrounds him.
And then in the next story âThe Twin Dilemmaâ, the Sixth Doctor strangles his companion.

Why Doctor Who canât sustain dark storytelling
By Andrew Blair
TV
Doctor Who : Revolution of the Daleks to Air on New Yearâs Day, Trailer is Here
By Louisa Mellor
Taking âGrimdarkâ storytelling to mean stories in which violence and misery is perpetuated throughout the story universe in a seemingly never-ending cycle, that period in the showâs history is a perfect example of it. Why diminish one of the finest stories ever by immediately negating the heroism involved? Why would you have the main character reject the violence that heâd become a part of only to immediately embrace it again? Among the many problems it means we have a Doctor/companion relationship that seems grim at best. Why would you keep travelling with someone who strangled you, refused to apologise and then continually harangues and shouts at you? I donât watch Doctor Who to see the companion trapped in an abusive relationship. I also donât think itâs a coincidence that the ratings went down as the production team systematically removed as much hope from the show as possible, ridding it of that great spirit of adventure. After âThe Twin Dilemmaâ,the show was put on hiatus, and ultimately cancelled.  Â
Which brings me to the current version of the show.
I donât think Jodie Whittaker is miscast or that the current version of the show is woke nonsense â which is a relief because I think using the phrase âwoke nonsenseâ unironically is quite the red flag. I think that the enthusiasm Jodie Whittaker has for the part hasnât been used well, because we currently have a Doctor who is great at showing unabashed joy travelling the universe, but whose stories lean towards grimdark and donât give her anything approaching âEverybody lives!â
One of the most lauded episodes in Series 11 is âRosaâ, which was co-written by Malorie Blackman and showrunner Chris Chibnall. In it, the TARDIS crew see Rosa Parks in the run-up to her being arrested for violating segregation laws, and need to stop Krasko â a mass murderer from the future â interfering in this event and stopping it from happening.
The inclusion of Krasko makes an interesting and depressing point in this story, and Iâd be fascinated to know the villainâs development in the writing process. For what we have here is a story about an important act of defiance that changed human history, and is celebrated for its impact, alongside an acknowledgement that there will still be racists in the future. In fact, there will be racists who murder 2,000 people in the future. Racism and its associated violence is not, the episode says, going to go away.
In isolation this might seem like optimism tempered with caution, but since Chris Chibnall became showrunner, edgy, provocative ideas have crept in and given stories a cynical edge. Small moments have a cumulative effect, such as Epzoâs story about his mother in âThe Ghost Monumentâ, Robertson surviving âArachnids in the UKâ without learning any moral lessons and indeed likely to cause more suffering, âKerblam!â ending with the system that blew up an innocent woman being allowed to continue (while closing the warehouse for four weeks and offering employees two weeksâ holiday pay), Daniel Barton escaping freely in âSpyfallâ while the Doctor wipes the memories of someone doomed to die, âOrphan 55â shows us the unavoidable destruction of the human race, as does âAscension of the Cybermenâ. Under Moffat, we had some episodes ending with cynical quips that left a bad taste in the mouth, but under Chibnall the bad taste is there before the outro quip.
Series 11 showed us a joyful Doctor in a nasty universe, and the latter regularly overwhelms the former, but at least ended with Graham and Ryan clearly rejecting murder as a solution. Series 12 was less focussed on real-world evils, and uses them on the fringes of its storytelling (with the Doctor now seemingly embroiled in the universeâs cynicism, using Nazis to imprison a Master now played by a British Indian actor), but weâre still getting real issues reflected back at us along with the message that the Doctorcannot sort this, which is based on the false assumption that this is what Doctor Who is for.
I hope that this is building towards a reversal, that the Thirteenth Doctor gets her Androzani moment where she gets to take a stand against everything that sheâs seen. However, we have now had a fully grimdark finale as the lasting impression of Doctor Who for nine months. âThe Timeless Childrenâ has proven controversial for its approach to continuity; as well as the retcon of the Doctorâs history this was a âTwin Dilemmaâ(also the last story in its season) to âThe Day of the Doctorâs Androzani. The heroism is now nullified. When we watch âThe Day of the Doctorâand the day is saved at the end of the story, now we know all the Doctor has done is defer those deaths (those two billion childrenâs deaths) and the cycle of violence will continue. At the end of âThe Timeless Childrenâthe following is presented to us as the good guys winning:
The heroine cannot bring herself to destroy the animated corpses of her entire species, so Joe from Derry Girls has to do it for her. An entire planet now a lifeless husk. The main characterâs centuries of trauma are revealed. Their best friend is now a genocidal maniac.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
This is Doctor Who in 2020: violent, cynical, cyclical. A mirror when it should be a window. If Series 13 repeats these trends then I fear history may repeat itself once more. But then, what is Doctor Who mostly about if not seeing a cycle of oppression and then breaking it?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: As I Have Always Been (7x09)
I am feeling some kind of way right now.
Cons:
Missing Fitz hours continue... especially in light of Certain Events. I wish he could have been there.
Also... like... while I was watching Daisy and Daniel being adorable, I literally said out loud to the screen: "oh no, they're going to make me like this, aren't they?" and they DID and I DO, but I refuse to let go of the cold bitterness in my heart over the way Peggy Carter was treated by the MCU as a whole. I'm just quietly seething about it forever and ever amen. Setting that aside, I do think Daisy/Sousa works, and I can let go of my rage if I just ignore the other stuff and focus on this as its own universe with its own version of Daniel's fate. To be slightly critical, though, I feel like Daniel taking things in stride makes a certain amount of sense given who he is as a person, but I do wish we'd seen him do some more grappling with his new reality. Does he not want to go and see if any of his friends are still alive, decades older, now? Does he not miss ANYTHING about the life he left behind? Suffice to say, I'm feeling conflicted!
So is Kora actually Daisy's sister? We saw that little scene at the end there, with the Inhumans still getting up to shenanigans... I have to confess that this is the part of the season that feels the least tight and well-developed so far. We've only got a few more episodes left, and it feels a little late to be adding in these new elements. Time will tell, I'm ready to be convinced otherwise.
Pros:
Time loops are so fun and I know they've been done to death, but I don't care! The creativity! The comedy! The high drama! I love that this setup gave Daisy and Coulson a chance to bond, and the varying stakes and ticking clock involved in the scenario. The way it works, Daisy is stuck in the loop, and so is Coulson, but every time Daisy dies in a loop, she wakes up and has to start over, not remembering anything, and Coulson is getting more and more frustrated. Also, the loop itself has finite time to it, but the real ticking clock is in the form of a vortex. The ship gets closer and closer to it in every loop, and they need to break the loop and get away before they reach it. I love how there are various setups and stakes embedded in this version of the time loop, so when Daisy wakes up Coulson for the "first" time we learn that in actuality Daisy has already been doing this for a while, she just forgot because of her death.
I also think time loop stories work well in science fiction, especially in a story like this where time travel is already a thing they've all gotten used to. That way, when Daisy barges into the room, already knows that Mack is going to get hurt, can cue the entrances of various people and predict exactly what they'll say, it doesn't actually take long to convince the others. They're on board, doing what they can to help. We get the fun moments of Daisy having to explain things, but it's not belabored. My favorite comedy moment is when Enoch fights them all off and they're all lying there in a pile, and someone says "Deke's dead?" and Daisy says "very." And someone says "do we need to be sad about that?" and Daisy says "we do not." That made me laugh out loud!!
To get back to the Daisy/Daniel thing... I mean, how can you not swoon at Daniel's little speech? I love how much he loves being supportive. His love language is acts of service and he will quietly and stoically sit by your bedside while you convalesce, he will trust you immediately when you say you need help, he will risk his life for you, no questions asked. He's a DREAMBOAT, and Daisy deserves a bit of love. I hadn't really been expecting a love story for her in this season, but honestly, the inclusion of an already-familiar-to-me character really helped to sell it.
Then there's the ongoing mystery of WHAT exactly Simmons made herself forget, with the implant, that was so important she'd be willing to die for it? She'd be willing for her friends to die for it? I love the escalating mystery here, even though Fitz's absence is a frustrating thorn in my side. When Simmons remembers how to save the ship, she ends up saving the day. But then, right before the time loop resets, she starts freaking out and saying "what have I done?" Obviously there's something big that Simmons intentionally made sure she would forget, and I'm dying to learn more!
Enoch's death was honestly really well done and I felt the weight of it. In some ways, death on this show has been muted/made less powerful because of all the resurrections. This isn't even the first time the show tried to make us think Enoch might be gone forever. But still... I like that Coulson was there, able to give first-hand perspective on what it's like to die. And Enoch's words, about how having human friends taught him about belonging, but also taught him about loneliness... that really fucked me up, I gotta say! Of course Enoch was willing to give up his life to save his friends. It's who he is, who he's been for a long time. I thought it was a stunningly good example of how to do a self-sacrifice moment right. It hurt, but it made sense for the journey and the tone and the story. I will miss him so much!
That's about all I've got for this one. I'm a little worried that the stuff with the Inhumans, and Daisy's... sister, is going to come in and be the prominent end-game plot, which doesn't feel particularly earned at this juncture. However, there is so much to love about this last season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and I have faith they can stick the landing!
8.5/10

What I thought about We Bare Bears: The Movie
Salutations random people on the internet who probably won't read this. I am an Ordinary Schmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons. Today, I'm going to do one-fourth of what I do best by talking about We Bare Bears: The Movie. Now, if you're a member of the cartoon community, odds are you've heard of We Bare Bears. It might not be as well-remembered as shows like Adventure Time or Steven Universe. But We Bare Bears has gained its own following through its charm and simplicity. So much so, that the series got it's very own movie, acting as the series finale to the beloved show. And to honor that milestone, I thought I'd share my thoughts by listing the things I liked and disliked about the film. Keep in mind, this is your last chance to avoid spoilers if you haven't seen the film yet (even though itâs been out for more than a week). Because I'll be spoiling the heck out of the movie by listing plot details, characters, and little touches that I think are worth mentioning. With that out of the way, let's dive on in with-
WHAT I LIKED
The Baby Bears meeting: To me, this was the first indicator that the movie was going to be the end. The Baby Bears meeting always felt like a moment saved for the series finale to me. Because answering the question of whether, or not, the Baby Bears find a home isn't something we need an answer to. But learning about how they met? Now that is something I'm sure most fans were curious about. And in true Baby Bears style, it's big and epic while still being downright adorable. Not to mention that Grizz's line at the end of how not looking alike is the best part about being brothers is not only sweet, but it also sells the main moral of the movie. If I had to nitpick, a part of me wonders how their separate journeys got them all in that one spot. But that's just another question that doesn't really require an answer, so I'm alright with not receiving one. Besides, that's what fan-fiction is for. GET ON IT WRITERS!
The Bears Running Through the City: I'm sure some people are tired of the cliche of having characters run through the city because they're late for something. But to me, I think that type of thing works for a series finale. It offers one last glance at familiar environments, but familiar characters as well. Not only do you get to see the people who love the Bears the most, but you even see the Human Bros in the background as the Bears run. This scene also sets up the conflict of the film as the Bears accidentally wreak havoc to get to where they're going. Even more so than usual. Plus, the scene serves as an excuse to hear the extended version of the theme song. And personally, I just love it when a series finale finds a way to incorporate the theme in a way that's better than the opening.
The Bears Complaint File: This was another indicator that the movie was going to be the end of the series. Usually, when a show like We Bare Bears finally acknowledges consequences to a character's actions, it's safe to say that the end is nigh. Because this presents the idea that the characters are close to being the straw that broke the camel's back. Which is something you can never do twice.
The Bears Viral Video: There are going to be people out there who'll find the Bears' video of outdated memes cringy. And to those people, I say: "THAT'S THE FRICKEN POINT GENIUSES!" Seriously, the characters themselves point out how what they're doing is going to be cringy, so it's safe to say that it was very much the intention from the writers. Besides, We Bare Bears always had scenes, and entire episodes, that acknowledged modern trends. And unlike other shows and movies, We Bare Bears doesn't use memes to stay fresh and hip with the kids. Instead, the show-and movie for that matter-uses trends to tell a story that will be timeless. Albeit dated in a few years. The only complaint I'll accept is that you didn't find their video funny, which can be valid. As for me, yeah, I chuckled. Speaking of-
The Comedy: We Bare Bears might not be the funniest show I've seen, but it still gets a chuckle out of me from time to time. It works with an absurd sense of humor, which is either your thing or it isn't. As for the jokes in the movie, most of them work pretty well, and the ones that don't aren't too bad. Personally, my favorite scene is when the Bears slowly drive away from Wildlife Control. The fact that that plan worked was so absurd, I could not help but laugh.
The Blackout: This was the straw that I mentioned earlier. The Bears have finally crossed a line that turns several people against them. In fact, it's very reminiscent of Ed Edd and Eddy's Big Picture Show, where the characters are forced to leave after doing something unforgivable. Although, there's one thing that We Bare Bears: The Movie does better than Big Picture Show. In Big Picture Show, fans never really saw what the Eds did that was so horrid. We were just told that it was so bad that our trio had to leave everything behind. Never seeing the answer always bothered me as a kid because I was always curious about how their last scam was somehow their worst. This is why it's nice that we actually get to see what the Bears did that was so unforgivable in We Bare Bears: The Movie.
Agent Trout: At some point, if you found Trout to be the most unlikeable piece of trash that he is, then you found the writers' possible intention. Trout acts as the movie's main antagonist, and on top of that, a character you're not supposed to like. And granted, there have been movie antagonists that are pure evil, but audiences can't help but love them anyway. But personally, I feel like making Trout a likable antagonist would have spoiled the point of the film. The movie's message, which I'll get into later, is about how being strange is ok, and that anyone can fit into society. Because society changes and people become accepting of these changes, every day. Trout is meant to represent the type of people who refuse the idea of change. He is a character who believes everything should operate as nature intended, which in this film's case, having bears reside in their natural habitats. And I honestly think Trout does his part as an antagonist really well. He's easy to hate for all the right reasons, and it's satisfying to see him get his coupons. It's also even better that we don't know his motivations to be so cruel to the Bears. Because there are real-life people out there who share Trout's mindset, with zero reasons behind why. Plus, his design is really great, being devoid of color and drawn with sharp edges in comparison to the bright and smooth looking characters. It helps him stand out from most characters in the show, while also making less overly threatening that the hunter in "Yuri and Ice Bear."
Officer Murphy: As far as I know, Officer Murphy was never really that big of a character. In fact, I don't even remember if the show mentioned his name until this movie. So to some fans, it might come off as a surprise that Murphy is given such an enormous role in this movie. Regardless, the position Murphy has is a great one. He is meant to represent the positive type of law enforcement. The officers who don't punish people due to who they are or what they look like. Instead, Officer Murphy is an officer who upholds the law to protect others. Take note of the fact that Murphy never wanted to physically or emotionally hurt the Bears. He understood that the Bears crossed the line and needed to be punished, but never to the extremes that Trout took. Speaking of Trout, Murphy acts as a great comedic sidekick for the antagonist. There's this nice running joke where Trout shoves random food in Murphy's mouth when Murphy makes an unwanted comment. And said running joke also leads to a great payoff in the movie's final act. So while I'm surprised at Murphy's inclusion, I gotta say that I really appreciate it.
Mystery Machine Cameo: I'm the biggest Scooby-Doo fan you'll ever meet, so believe when I say that seeing the iconic van just made me giddy.
Pizza Rat: I'll be the first to admit that Pizza Rat was a scumbag for betraying the Bears. But gosh darn it he was hilarious. I'm not kidding, whenever Pizza Rat showed up, he got funnier and funnier with each scene. Especially with his hatred of the rat with Spaghetti.
Grizzâs Nightmare: There are two things I really like about this scene. The first is that Grizz's nightmare is easily the creepiest the show has gotten. Seriously, something tells me that Trout's face being on the death train is going to be in kids' nightmares for weeks. The second is that there is some outstanding visual symbolism in this scene. It shows how Grizz is under a lot of stress for carrying the weight of protecting his brothers at all costs. Not only is that the best symbolism the show has ever used, but the scene gives the perfect insight into Grizz as a character. It's rare that we ever get to see the serious side of him, so I appreciate this one last glimpse into his personality.
That Epic Car Chase: If I'm being honest, there were not that many scenes that showed this movie being anything else than an extended episode. But this scene, however, was the most cinematic that We Bare Bears have ever been. The quality animation and cinematography help make the scene action-packed and surprisingly tense at times. Like I genuinely felt worried for my favorite trio of weirdos. There's not much I can say about this scene other than it was pretty impressive as well as awesome.
The Bearsâ Plan Fails: It's weird saying that I like this, but I do. The movie could have gone down the same route as The Simpsons Movie by having the plan work for the sake of a joke. But no. We Bare Bears: The Movie actually employs logic and says, "you can't move to a new country, without a passport." And I can't help but give kudos to a movie that doesn't allow a simple solution.
The Third Act Break Up: Ah yes, the one cliche scene that makes audiences go "Really? We're doing this song and dance again?" Now, here's my defense: When it comes to something made for kids, you gotta be more forgiving of cliches. Odds are, some children watched this movie, and this will be their first third act break up. So you can't really fault the film for wanting to use a popular cliche. Granted, you could wish to have your kids watch something original, but that's a request that gets harder to do with each day. Besides, some cliches, like the third act break up, aren't bad unless they're done correctly. And I honestly think the movie uses the cliche just fine. The tension between Grizz and Panda has been built up throughout the film, so one final blow-out was bound to happen. Plus, the Bears don't really break up, but rather argue. If Panda had walked off dramatically, after saying "we're not brothers," then I would consider it a break up. Instead, it comes across as characters saying things they don't mean due to the heat of the moment.
Troutâs Bear Sanctuary: This was depressing but in a good way. The colors being swapped out from the show's usual bright pastels to dull and gray? That perfectly explains how dire the situation is without outwardly stating it. And yeah, I got a little misty eyed when watching this scene.
Grizz Talking to Baby Grizz: Another scene that I thought would be endgame would be having the grown-up Bears meeting the Baby Bears. I always dismissed this idea because I kept reminding myself of how it was impossible. I mean, how can you make characters meet a younger version of themselves? Turns out, the answer to that question was to have the younger version of a character act as a conscience. And yeah, this scene was pretty sweet and charming. And once again, my eyes started to get all misty. The tears didn't fight hard enough to get out, but they still fought pretty hard. Also, was it just me, or did it sound like Baby Grizz's voice actor was beginning to hit puberty?
The Bears Cheering for Grizz: I'm not the only one who thought it sounded like the bears were chanting/roaring Grizz's name, right? Because that's what I heard during this scene. Also, this scene was pretty epic, while doing its job to get me hyped up for what happens next.
The Moral: I've touched upon this moral earlier, and I want to make it clear how important it is. Some people feel as though they don't fit in anywhere, mostly because law enforcement has a history of punishing those that don't. But as Grizz says: "Nature adapts." The same goes for society. More and more people are fitting into groups that make them feel welcome. And those groups become more accepted with each passing year. Now to be fair, there are scum bags like Trout, who seek to punish people who are different. But again, there are still good souls like Murphy that attempt to do the morally correct thing no matter who/what you are. And I have to give kudos to We Bare Bears: The Movie for showing the brighter side of things. Because let's face it, we all could use something positive as of late. And I'm sure there are going to be people out there who'll call this movie 'preachy' and 'overly optimistic.' To those people, I would like to once again point out that this is a kid's film. Yes, kids are smarter than we give them credit for. But that doesn't mean you should give the harsh truth about how hard issues won't have simple solutions. They at least have until their teen years before that happens. Besides, look at the ending shot of bears normally fitting in with the rest of society. If you can see that and not love the symbolism being represented, then this film clearly is not for you.
WHAT I DISLIKED
Itâs More of an Extended Episode Rather Than a Movie: Before I explain, I want to make it very clear that this is mostly a nitpick. Like I said before, there weren't many scenes that made this movie feel like, well, a movie. The animation never seemed better in comparison to the show, there weren't that many cinematic scenes, and the story didn't feel all that epic either. I honestly feel like the bears went on grander adventures than the one they went on here. Like the first time they became wanted criminals in "Captain Craboo." Yeah, remember that episode? It was emotional, intense, and actually kind of epic at times. And that episode was a half-hour long! The movie was an hour and eight minutes, and it still couldn't outdo the quality of "Captain Craboo." I know that I'm being a little harsh. But when I see "the movie" attached at the end of a show's title, I expect something grander and more epic than the original show. And yeah, We Bare Bears: The Movie is good for an extended episode, but not for what I consider for a movie.
What Supporting Cast?: Here's where looking at the movie as a series finale becomes an issue. This is the last time we'll see ALL of the characters from the show. So giving no proper goodbye from the supporting cast, who have all been significant people in the Bears' lives, feels wrong. The best-or rather worst-example of how wrong this is would be Nom-Nom. This was a character who was on the road towards redemption. So to have his last appearance show that he's the same jerk as he started is disappointing. The worst part is that the movie had the right idea with Charlie's scene. He helps the Bears one last time and says he's happy to do it for all the times they helped him. It's a touching moment and honestly feels like a proper goodbye to his character. And I can't help but see ways that the movie could have included the rest of the supporting cast. Have Ranger Tabes join Murphy and Trout due to her being a bear expert. Have Nom-Nom stand up for the bears at the Internet Animal rave. Have Chloe literally do anything other than stand and watch her best friends in the world be in danger! I understand that the Bears are the main characters who deserve most of the closure. But that doesn't mean other characters should be left in the dust because of it.
Pandaâs Kind of Annoying: Cards on the table, I'm not the biggest fan of Panda. I don't think he's the worst character or even a bad one. But to me, he always came across as so whiney and annoying, and he's somehow worse in the movie. I get that he's a straight man who's meant to be the voice of reason, but there's a way to make a character like that entertaining. Some amazing straight men are specific iterations of Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Velma from Scooby-Doo. Those are characters that know how to be the calm of the crazy storm that their fellow cast. They offer witty comments and charismatic one-liners that prove they could also hold off on their own at times. Panda never really did that for me in neither the show nor the movie. He has his entertaining moments for sure, but most of them get overshadowed by his weaker ones. So while I don't exactly hate Panda, I can't really say I love him.
Ice Bear Does Next to Nothing: I'm not the only one who thinks Ice Bear was underutilized, right? In fact, We Bare Bears: The Movie is also similar to Ed Edd and Eddy's Big Picture Show in how to write its main trio. Both films pay more attention to the relationship between the leader and the straight man, where the comic relief is there for jokes and to give the occasional contribution. However, it's easy to forgive with Ed, because his character has little to offer other than being a loveable doofus. But Ice Bear? He has so much personality, so much backstory, and so much more to his character that you could make an entire movie just about him. Plus, going back to the fact that the film is a series finale, this is not a proper conclusion to his character. Sure, it's nice to see the Bears be accepted for who they are, but what about all that stuff with Yuri? Are you seriously telling me that the show wouldn't do anything with the fact that Ice Bear fell in love with Yuri's daughter?! I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I really wish the movie had something more in store for Ice Bear.
On The Road Song: Out of all the good qualities that We Bare Bears have, having good music isn't one of them. The few songs that the show has are not bad by no means but aren't really songs I would find myself listening to on repeat. The same goes for "Road Trip Song." It's perfectly fine, but nothing more than mediocre. Plus, weirdly, it's the only song in the movie. I mean, if you're gonna introduce something like a musical number, at least go all out with making a musical. I'm not saying the film should have been like Steven Universe: The Movie in terms of a soundtrack, but at least have two or three more songs. As is, it just feels like a weird detour on the road to Canada.
The Bears Survive Falling Off a Cliff:...Thatâs it. Just the ludicrousy of the fact that the Bears survive a fall like that. When you think about it, it removes a lot of the tension when you they could survive huge feats like that too.
Overall, We Bare Bears: The Movie gets a well earned B+ for me. When you judge it as a movie AND as a series finale, it loses a lot of points. But when you look at it as an extended episode? You get something that has a great moral, an outstanding antagonist, and a nicely put together story. Like the original show, I'm probably not going to remember it in about ten years down the line. As for the here and now, I'm glad I took the time to watch something so much more than BEARable.
(Now if only we got that Amazing World of Gumball movie. GET ON IT CARTOON NETWORK!)

The Luke Skywalker that was wasted and the Luke fans deserved.
For the last two years I have shown my displeasure with how Luke Skywalker and I still hate it. Letâs talk why I hate it and why I think it could have been better
What the hell was with Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi?
Why did Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy depict him as a grumpy, pathetic hermit and a weak failure? Don't give me that crap about 'b-b-b-b-but he did a Force Projection and that's hard'. You can't shit on a character for 99% of the movie and consider his depiction as worthy because he did something useful for the remaining 1%.
Lucasfilm and associates prior to Disney's acquisition of the franchise spent 40 YEARS building the character of Luke Skywalker through the movies, comics and novels. The Star Wars fandom has spent 40 YEARS delving into the lore of the Star Wars universe and its characters. Why would Rian and Kathleen go in the opposite direction with his character? They went as far as making him a depressed, hopeless loser when the very essence of his being is hope. "How did the most optimistic, hopeful character in the galaxy turn into this hermit? ... A Jedi is optimistic, a Jedi has tenacity, he never gives up" - A quote from Luke Skywalker himself: Mark Hamill. When Luke Skywalker himself voices serious concern about the depiction of Luke Skywalker, Rian and Kathleen should have immediately started over.
The annihilation of Luke Skywalker's character was intentional. It's preposterous to suggest that they accidentally ruined one of cinemas greatest hero's. This was a planned character assassination.
Why was Mark Hamill exempt from the marketing of The Force Awakens and forced to stand on a mountain with no lines?
Why was Luke given nothing for The Force Awakens and anytime Mark went to JJ with his great ideas for Luke, JJ just smiled and patted him on the back just to shut him up?
Why did Luke toss the Lightsaber? The Lightsaber of his father, the lightsaber that Obi-Wan gave to him, and the Lightsaber he lost on Bespin after losing his hand to Vader. Such an emotional connection to Luke, he casually tosses it in such a stupid, cold and unemotional matter. Why not allow Luke an emotional reaction to holding this particular lightsaber again after all these years? Why is a sight gag preferable in this situation? Even if Luke being a bitter, detached old man is essential to TLJ, thatâs still no reason not to pay even the slightest respect to everything that lightsaber represents from the original trilogy.
Why is Luke not allowed to show emotion, grief or empathy for the death of Han Solo? His best friend, his brother, Leiaâs love and the father of his nephew?
Why does Luke not care that his sisterâs life and The Resistance is in danger? Why was he willing to abandon his sister in her time of need?
Why does Luke and Chewie never have a moment of forgiveness and reconciliation?
Why was Luke made to fail as a Jedi Master? Luke should have changed the Jedi for the better as he did in Legends. Luke did not negate his emotions, but found a synthesis between both. Luke definitely showed that selfless love and compassion donât lead to the dark side. Anakin is the Last Jedi of the old order, not Luke. Luke became the first of the New Jedi realizing that attachment made him stronger not weaker. For the new Jedi were attached to the entire universe through the Force. This is why Luke reformed the Jedi for the better.
Why was Han and Leia made to fail as parents and leaders in the NR and Resistance? Why were Luke, Han and Leiaâs achievements and victories made invalid?
Why was it necessary to show Luke drink from a giant alien tit? Oh yes, we can show that, but we canât show Luke mourn for the loss of his best friend đ
Why did Luke not teach Rey ANYTHING? He did not impart wisdom to Rey at all in the entire movie. They did not have a great master/apprentice relationship, despite it being advertised that their relationship was the beating heart of the movie! That was a giant lie and false advertisement!
Why does Luke give up on the Jedi. Jedi do not give up. You might say that Yoda and Obi-Wan also gave up. But for those two, the Sith took over the galaxy, they had to go into hiding to protect and guide Luke and Leia. Obi-Wan wanted to save Leia and guide Luke. Yoda always wanted to train Leia as a Jedi and bring Anakin back to the light. He was reluctant to train Luke but he still did his duty as a Jedi Master. They did not just give up and wanted to die and they did not betray their characters at all.
Why would Luke Skywalker even think of killing his nephew in his sleep? Why would he even think of igniting the Lightsaber? Luke Skywalker would not even think of trying to kill his nephew in his sleep. Luke decided the Jedi and Sith were both wrong and believed that his father was still good and he was right in saving him. He would try to talk to Ben and try to pull him back to the light. His sister brought Ben there for protection and guidance. Even if that did fail, you did not need to make Luke attempt to murder him. You did not need to make Luke, Leia and Han at fault for Kylo Ren. Kylo is a grown ass man, he is responsible for his own actions. Kylo was going to murder the Jedi and younglings regardless, he already fell to the dark side. No one is responsible for Kyloâs actions but Kylo Ren.
Why does Luke just give up? Luke Skywalker is a beacon of hope and optimism and love against all odds, and the fact that that was twisted into being depicted as some foolish youth naivety, and that the only way to make him âhumanâ was to retract all that and make him a bitter, jaded man is so fucking disgusting. Even more disgusting is in TLJ novelization had him dreaming of never leaving Tatooine and having him live under the Empireâs dominance. He does not even care that his sisterâs life and the Resistance she is leading is in danger. He doesnât connect with Rey on any meaningful level, doesnât impart wisdom or knowledge, and never reasserts himself as the powerful Jedi he once was. A brief physical duel against Rey ends with her as the undisputed victor, completely killing his deserved mythos and her potential character arc in one fell swoop. Itâs clear in that moment that he has nothing to teach her, and nothing to contribute to the overall narrative. The boundless potential that seemed poised to explode at the end of The Force Awakens fizzles here but never ignites.  And without any training at all, Rey defeats Luke Skywalker and Luke acts all cowardly and begs her to leave. He does buy The Resistance time and saves his sister, but it was ultimately pointless. He wasnât even there and he dies pointlessly. What we got was not Luke Skywalker. Luke Skywalker is hope and optimism. Luke Skywalker is showing that no matter what, compassion, faith and love will always prevail. Luke is the hero that inspired an entire generations to aspire to be better, aspire to be heroes. Luke is what we wanted to see and what we got was not Luke Skywalker. Luke is someone who thought Doctor Aphra was a good person, she proves him wrong but he still had that hope for her. Luke believed that Darth Vader of all people still had good in him and was willing to die and he was able to reach his father. In Battlefront IIâs Story, Luke saves Del Meeko because he asked and he offered Del a better life, a choice. Inferno Squad has committed atrocities in the name of the Empire, yet Luke still gave Del Meeko a chance. Canon Luke Skywalker is a kind hearted hero who will never run from a fight or knowingly leave a loved one in danger and will even save his enemy. This is Luke Skywalker. Luke is compassionate, adores his family, would never leave them. The Luke Skywalker I knew would never even think about killing his nephew in his sleep when there is always another way. Luke believes in the light and was willing to die to save his father. Darth Vader committed atrocities for decades, Luke still believed there was good in him. He would never give up on his family nor would he even consider killing his own nephew in his sleep just because he sensed darkness there. He would never abandon his sister at deathâs door when she needed him most. The Heroâs Journey that he was following was ignored completely and he just gave up and wanted to die. And he dies instead of reuniting with Leia properly. Mark Hamill wanted Luke to live until Episode IX where he would pass on what he learned to Rey. No big battle with Snoke, no passing on, instead Luke dies and all weâre getting is force ghost Luke. Luke Skywalker was a hero to an entire generation.  Luke was the true heart of Star Wars. His was the journey we followed from idealistic farm boy dreaming of adventure, to reluctant warrior, and finally to savior of the entire galaxy. The original trilogy built him up, and The Last Jedi finally broke him down. I for one mourn my heroâs passing.Â
Why is Yoda the one to convince Luke to return? It should have been Anakin
Why does Luke not appear for real and have a real genuine moment with Leia? The final moment between Luke and Leia was ultimately pointless when you realize Luke wasnât even there, it was just a projection?
Why did Luke not have a worthy final showdown and showing his power as a Jedi Master instead of disappearing and not being anything more than a distraction? Why did he die without passing anything on to the next generation?
These were supposed to be, or should have been completely replaced with extremely powerful moments with emotional weight. These moments should have been mandatory. Yet the creators didn't deliver.
THE LUKE SKYWALKER THAT WE DESERVED
What a missed opportunity. I mean, look at this artwork. There's such potential for greatness and compare that to the steaming pile of shit Rian Johnson / Kathleen Kennedy served in The Last Jedi.
What we should have got to see of Luke in the Sequel Trilogy
First and foremost, the same Luke Skywalker who actually exists in the Star Wars universe.
His Jedi Academy and respectful showcase of Ancient Jedi artefacts.
A mention of a close relationship of his students and most importantly to Ben and how Snoke turned him against Luke and the Jedi
Flashbacks to training his own Ben and his padawans and scenes of Luke training Rey
Reuniting with Han, or at least mourning his death.
Have Luke tell Rey he left the map behind so Leia can find him when the time is right, he did not give up, but he realized Leia sent him someone he can train and give guidance to. Luke and Rey indeed are the beating heart of this story
Lifting his old X-Wing out of the water and flying to the Supremacy to face Snoke and his nephew and to save Leia.
Luke and Rey together fight the Praetorian Guards. Luke faces Snoke, while Rey faces Kylo. Luke kills Snoke, while Kylo wins the fiight against Rey and cuts her hand off
Physically appearing, a beautiful reunion with Leia that has meaning with Luke actually being there
A true moment and showdown against The First Order and Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren orders every ship to fire on Luke. All the AT-M6âs all firing but to everyoneâs surprise, all blasts have no effect via protection of the force. Luke wipes the salt off his robes and with a simple wave of his hand, brings the walkers, transports and Kyloâs shuttle down, one by one. Kylo descends from his crushed shuttle, throwing a tantrum and preparing preparing to kill his uncle. We have a real lightsaber battle between Luke and Kylo. Luke has his green lightsaber. Their blades clash. The battle is emotional and raw. Luke is there. The dialogue is emotional and impactful. Despite all that his nephew has done, Luke asks him to return. Kylo refuses, he embraces who he is and that he is the new Vader. Luke will retort âoh Ben, you are no Vader.â Luke is toying with Kylo, similar to how Vader toyed with him on Bespin. Luke and Kyloâs exchange remains the same. âI failed you Ben, Iâm sorry.â âIâm sure you are! The Resistance is dead. The war is over, and when I kill you, I will have killed the last Jedi.â âAmazing. Every word of what you just said was wrong. The Rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning. And I will not be the last Jedi.â Kylo will lunge at Luke with all his anger with the intention to kill his uncle, but luke dodges and cuts Kyloâs hand off. Luke gives his âsee you around kidâ but Luke does not die, he leaves to board his X-Wing. Leaving the new Supreme Leader and The First Order a mess
Luke passes on what he knows to the next generation. Hope has returned. Rey has given Lukeâs faith and hope back. The Rebellion is alive. Luke will not be the Last Jedi. Brother and sister reunited and the Resistance stronger for it. Master and apprentice together once more. Smiles and tears and happy to see each other again. Rey, Luke and Leia together. Both siblings holding their hands together on Reyâs hand. Telling her âWe have everything we need. It ends how it begins With Rey grabbing the Lightsaber Rey extended to Luke. Tears in Reyâs eyes. The Millennium Falcon and Lukeâs X-wing take off side by side into into lightspeed.
The next movie would be about Luke training and preparing the next generation of Jedi. Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose and Jannah, the new Jedi, The Skywalkers. As they stand to face Kylo, Palpatine and The First Order. Luke will sacrifice himself to give his students a chance to destroy The Emperor once and for all
The thing that perplexes me is that both the casual moviegoers and hardcore fans would have loved a depiction of Luke more akin to Legends. Yet Disney chose a depiction of Luke which casuals are indifferent to and the hardcore fans absolutely fucking hate. Why? Why not show the character which majority would love? There's nothing to hate about a powerful and wise legendary hero, while there's everything to hate about some broken hermit that gave up on his family and friends and doing whatâs right who reflects nothing of what we've been lead to believe about his character by the creators of Star Wars itself for 40 years.
What a waste of potential. What a slap in the face to George Lucas, Luke Skywalker and the entire SW legacy. I cannot believe the sheer amount of disrespect shown by Disney, Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson. Luke deserved better.

The 100 Highlights -Â âDamocles: Part 2âł (5x13)
Hey guysssssss.Â
Iâm back to cover my final highlight recap for Season 5. After this, Iâll be going more in-depth on analysis/criticism of the overall season so enjoy this lighthearted blundering while you can. :)
To read other posts in this series, you can click here.Â
Tree is really out here (as always) doing his best work. The score during the opening sequence this episode was *kisses fingers*
I have to say that I did enjoy Bellamy protecting Madi in various ways throughout the finale. He promised Clarke that he would, and it feels like heâs living up to that promise. First by stepping in front of her to protect her from Octavia, and then later when he told her âweâll be right beside youâ, ensuring that he would have her back the entire time. And that he would be there to advise her whenever she needs his help.
âNow we win.â Lousy shot. Ha. Sorry, but that was hot.
âYouâll never know your daughter.â Good. Fucking. Riddance.
âWeâve been here before, Madi. We were the criminals. The 100.â I get weak for any reference to the original hundred what can i say iâm a starving woman
âYou can execute them because theyâre the enemy, or you can break the cycle. You can be better than them. You can be better than us.â
I do like the theme of Season 5 being about breaking the cycle. Letâs hope that the writers really do mean that when they say it.
I also enjoy the return of motivational speeches Bellamy. Madi may have been the figurehead throughout this episode, but it was really Bellamy leading the way. He may have changed, but heâs still the heart. He still inspires people, and Iâm glad that he got to the be the one to have this moment where he changed the tide of the war. It felt like a nice wrap up of his journey over the course of âBook Oneâ.
âWeâll wait as long as we can.â âDeja vu.â MONTY IS THE ONLY REAL ONE HERE. My first thought when Raven said that line was âoh ffs not this againâ.Â
I did enjoy the parallel of Monty saving Murphyâs life like Murphy did in 4x13.Â
âFirst we save their lives. Then we let them prove they deserve it.â âThe commanders told you that?â âNo. Bellamy.â aksqinsks first lemme laugh at Clarkeâs skepticism about the flame telling Madi to spare them because that bitch KNOWS that they would never be so noble lmao. Second lemme appreciate my crumbs.
I mean ... I guess we finally know how the radio calls were addressed???
Clarkeâs hopeful little smile when Bellamy sat down next to her on the ship was really cute. She looks so guilty and nervous. Eliza raised millions for the Blarkes in this episode.
âTHATâS BRILLIANT!â Me, every single time Bellamy Blake speaks. Thank you for the enthusiasm, Clarkey G.
Bellamy and Clarke are so, so, so awkward in this scene between them but it kind of feels like ... the start of something? Like, they both have made huge mistakes and still found it in them to forgive each other despite it. And now they know how much the other cares for them. I have to hope that it means theyâre going to move forward. For real, this time. How theyâre supposed to.
âYouâre not mad at me for leaving you in Polis?â âThe commander told me not to be.â Anyway, Bellamyâs jokes still suck and Clarke still laughs at them so ... some things never change?
âIâll meet you on the bridge.â That was a weighted fucking look, my dudes. I liked that Bellamy thought to include Clarke. It felt like an apology, in a way.Â
Also, WAS THAT THE S5 BELLARKE THEME I HEARD IN THAT SCENE. Cause if so, itâs fucking beautiful.
THAT LOOK BETWEEN THE BLAKES. BOB AND MARIE HAVE SO MUCH CHEMISTRY.
âCheer up. I wasnât invited either.â I LOVE A WOMAN
âYour mistake was liking it. Power. Itâs the kiss of death. Itâs okay. I liked it, too.â Ivana and Marie are both such compelling actresses and HEY LOOK THEY GOT CHEMISTRY. I honestly really enjoyed this short scene between the two of them. They were enemies and yet - no hard feelings. Because the war wasnât personal to them. We didnât get many scenes between Charmaine and Octavia this season (or obvious reasons) but Iâm intrigued to see if weâll get more in Season 6 because they work really naturally together. And they seem to understand something about each other (or, at least, Charmaine understands something about Octavia).Â
Bellamy and Clarke leading the meeting on the ship ... it felt like old times. I really loved that everyone looked to them for guidance in that scene, despite everything that happened throughout the rest of the season. Gives me hope that we might (finally !) get that co-leading dynamic back in Season 6, especially since they were the two that will be informing the others of Monty and Harperâs discovery.Â
Bellamy, in particular, gave me serious Chancellor vibes in that episode. He really stepped into his leadership boots this season, especially near the end there.Â
Dear god, please get rid of that goddamn flame as a viable form of leadership. If anyone from Eligius starts following it next season Iâm calling B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T. Let Bellamy and Clarke lead, dammit!Â
Also ... Zeke looked to Bellamy for permission to speak. Not the Commander. So jot that down, honeyâs.
âAnd Bobâs your uncle.â âI thought you hated that phrase.â âItâs growing on me.â STOP this was cute (and now iâm cryingggggg cause that was Monty and Ravenâs last interaction ever)
Clarke taking the bindi off of Madi. 10/10 great scene, letâs burn it now.
Marie in that tank top ... ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm whereâs the nearest bucket of holy water
âKind of like closing the door in the floor.â âKind of like that.â I liked this callback. Octavia is soft with Bellamy in this scene in a way we havenât really seen all season. Itâs ... oddly nice? Coming from someone who has never cared for Octavia.
âYouâre my sister, and a part of me will always love you.â âDoes the other part of you still wish I was dead?â âThe other part wishes a part of you was. Yeah.â
OKAY. I really liked this scene for a couple of reasons. The first being that I think it clarifies the line from 5x12 where Bellamy tells O that he wishes she was dead A LOT. It basically confirms that Bellamy was referring to the part of Octavia that is blodreina, which doesnât feel as out of character (whereas Bellamy wishing for his sisterâs death did).Â
I also really like that, even though Octavia tells Bellamy that she loves him and he tells her that he loves her, too, he doesnât forgive her. Bellamy and Octavia feel like they are finally on the road to establishing healthy boundaries and burying their dysfunctional relationship in place of building something new. Iâve always wanted this to be textual on the show and I never anticipated that we might actually get it. What they did with the Blakes this season is probably one of my favourite things to come out of the season.
And, as always, Marie and Bob are stunning together. This is a large part of the reason that Iâm actually okay with Octavia surviving this season, because they work so damn well together.
I feel like Tree doesnât get enough credit for his work so I have to mention, again, how beautiful the score was during that scene. He elevates the show so much with his music. In the scene where Clarke and Bellamy woke up, alone, it had such an eery feel to it. I really liked it.
Ngl, my FAVOURITE moment in this entire episode was Bellamy and Clarkeâs soft-ass fucking smiles when Bellamyâs pod opened. Like, Clarkeâs face when she was watching Bellamy wake up? A BITCH IS IN LOVE. And Bellamy was so soft too ughhhhhhhh Platonic Excellence
âHey.â âHey.â HEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
LISTEN. BELLAMY BLAKE DESERVES TO WAKE UP TO CLARKE LIKE THIS EVERY SINGLE MORNING FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE OKAY? OKAY IâM GLAD WEâRE ON THE SAME PAGE
...
Iâm a Big Fan. Theyâre so fucking cute. That was so domestic. How do I move on?
âWhy is it just us?â I literally stood up and yelled âBECAUSE ITâS FATE DUMBASSâ
âThatâs the way mom and dad wanted it.â I stan my new Bellarke warriorÂ
âCan I just say that - wow - I mean, I canât tell you how good it is to finally meet you. Weird, but good. Great, actually.â WHY IS THIS LITERALLY ME WHEN I MET BOB AND ELIZAÂ
ALSO JORDAN IDOLIZING BELLAMY AND CLARKE? RELATABLE. THIS WOULD 100% BE ME IF I GOT TO MEET THEM
âWho are you?â WHY THE FUCK AM I LAUGHING. Bellamy is so intense and heâs got his deep voice and heâs wearing his intimidation face and him and Clarke are both looking at Jordan like âwhat the actual fuck is going onâ and then thereâs Shannon Kook with his adorable fucking smile and his adorable fucking voice and heâs literally a bundle of sunshine and these two people are just glaring at him. BELLAMY, CLARKE, SWEETIES, PLAY NICE THAT IS YOUR GODSON YOU ARE TALKING TO
âMy name. Right. I didnât tell you my name. Sorry. I havenât met anyone before, so clearly I suck at it.â Reason #2 for Jordan being the most relatable character ever. I, too, am the most horridly awkward human in the world. Step aside, Clarkey G, I think Iâve found my TRUE self-insert on this show.
Monty and Harper are just the loveliest couple on this show. I never anticipated how much I would love them when they hooked up in Season 3. Wow. It was really nice to get all of those shots of them in peacetime, just loving each other, on the ship - especially after how little screentime they got throughout the rest of the season. Also, I swear that Shannon has a mixture between Monty and Harperâs smiles. What is this sorcery?
âSmart like his father.â âKind like his mum.â CAN YOU HEAR ME CRYING ALL THE WAY DOWN HERE ON EARTHÂ
(Also ... sounds like my new damn favourite character.)
âHey Bellamy ... hey Clarke.â WTF MY EYES ARE SWEATING
âWait ... take care of our boy.â Listen, Jordan. Madi failed me. Iâm counting on YOU to parent trap them. Okay? Okay.
But seriously, the fact that Monty and Harper trusted Bellamy and Clarke to take care of their kid, that they wanted it to be them ... is A Lot. Iâm excited to see how that goes in Season 6.Â
When Jordan opened the window and the new planet appeared and the music started swelling I got fucking shivers. Holy hell. It was so beautiful. TREE WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MEÂ
âCan you see it? Is it beautiful? It is in my dreams. I hope we do better there. I hope Jasper was wrong and we arenât the problem. I hope your lives there will be as happy as mine has been. Be the good guys. May we meet again.â
GUYS THOSE WORDS FROM MONTY ARE FUCKING EVERYTHING
LIKE, THESE ARE THE EMOTIONAL BEATS THAT THE REST OF SEASON 5 HAS BEEN MISSING
This is honestly the first real time where Iâve had hope that they might actually break the cycle. That they might build something new. Its the end of an era, but it feels like the start of something new. I genuinely cannot predict what is going to happen on that planet. Which is a new feeling. And I like it.
And of fucking course it would be Monty and Jasper (and Harper) who are responsible for breaking that cycle. Of course. This is the best thing they could have done with Jasperâs memory, is sending Monty on this mission to do better for the rest of humanity. And this is the best send-off I ever could have asked for for any character. Monty and Harper have been with us since the beginning. It just feels right that they should get this ending, that they should be the ones who usher in the next generation of The 100. Like. Wow. Iâm speechless.
Also, that Bellarke side hug was er nice. Thatâs the most domestic they have ever looked. Idc. Bellamy staring at the Earth alone on the Ark in 4x13 and 5x01 vs him staring at the new planet with Clarke at his side is the ONLY parallel I claim.
The final shot of them through the window with the planet reflected around them was STUNNING. Honest to god the most beautiful shot I think this show has ever done.Â
âEnd Book Oneâ on Bellamy and Clarke, together, staring at the new world and the new hope they will deliver to their people. Maybe thatâs what the first five seasons were really about. Bringing them to this place, where they are staring at the future - side by side, as a unit, ready to face whatever comes next.
Fuck.Â
I have to say that I enjoyed the second half of that episode way more than the first half. I feel like it had a lot of emotional beats that I really wanted to see throughout the season (that we just werenât getting) and it also teed up a lot for the next season. Iâm so intrigued by what theyâre going to find down on that planet, and Iâm excited for the writers to really break the cycle and build something new - hopefully something that involves more character moments.Â
I still havenât decided if Iâm going to continue with this series in Season 6, but stay tuned! I hope you enjoyed reading all of my recaps throughout this season. Itâs been a ride ahaha. See ya on the other side, folks.Â
