i know 7s probably pays their translators like shit since we’re not exactly, like, a vaunted profession, but god sometimes i long for the prestige (that exists only in my head) of having a real translation job with monetary benefits. instead of my realistic path which will be graduate -> find some job that i can handle working consistently -> do translation as a hobby if i have the time
#do not reblog#not to mention they probably crunch translators when there’s not an extant fantrans available#like i know 7s is one of the more (most?) reputable cnovel publishing houses#but after seeing the way other publishing houses for cnovels treat translators……..#(and also like. the bleak reality of ai. companies are going to prefer 80% accuracy for 2% cost over#full accuracy and research but 100% cost for paying translators)#i can’t help but be jaded#i talked to a prof at the ucla recently and he basically confirmed what i suspected#in terms of like. translation isn’t a viable career. there’s only two people he knows who do it as a career#and they churn out a dozen or more books a year. i can’t maintain that pace#and i’m not foolish enough to think i’ll get lucky and strike proverbial gold with some media that gets wildly popular in#the usa because of my translations#hell the people/person who did san ti into english probably didn’t make enough for a year’s costs.#and san ti is like. I broke 2 mugs today while moving 😔 one with an alligator that says “later gator” and an arkansas/missouri railroad mug I got a couple of summers back. My poor babies…
#my life is over!#the gator mug had one of those nice smaller-than-the-rest-of-the-mug bottoms that was good for stacking#and the railroad mug! I’m so mad about that!#I never used the railroad one bc it was kinda small#but it was a souvenir from when I went on a cute train ride a couple of years ago#and they don’t even sell it online! gotta ride the train to get one!#I mean it wasn’t especially cute. black mug. gold letters. but I liked the reminder of spending the day with my family#so anyway I had stupidly put them on top of a pile of clothes in a box on the ground#then bumped the box into while walking by and… whoops….#both mugs landed on the cement floor and broke their arms into many many leeeeeetle pieces#may have cracked the bodies but I didn’t even check carefully. was distracted by disappointment#I dunno…#I don’t have the skills to repair them. and like I said their arms are basically disintegrated#don’t want to use cracked mugs to drink out of. not sanitary.#in the end… they’re just mugs. nice mugs but still. just mugs.#then again…they’re still sitting in a garbage bag. very tempted to at least fish out the railroad mug. not like I ever drank from it anyway#…. maybe ignore this post… we’ll see if I feel like or remember to fish it out of the bag tomorrow#it’s not a gross trash bag. no food. just excess trash from packing and moving.#so maybe this whole post is for nothing#made me sad tho#hug your mugs tight for me#text

i dont want to give in to Modern Shapewear but i really hate when im trying to have a Fun Outfit and theres fucking Distinct Lines from various under wear bands (bra, undies, maybe a pair of tights?) all at separate points? that are impossible to hide bc the outer wear is fucking form fitting spandex
#toy txt post#if it were easier to make bespoke structured underclothing to create a smoother silhouette. god. i would. but thats so much more investment#in time and money and materials and hours to probably fuck it up at least the first coupke times vs just buying a fucking tummy control#camisole or some shit. but i cannot fucking stand the marketing around it. i dont want to put money to that. im not trying to Look Thinner#im trying to achieve a specific smoother silhouette w my clothing to look like a little clown and vintage silhouettes#rely so often on structured underclothing that the closest analogue to today is: fucking shapewear! unless i go out and get an actual#corset. but those tend to be more expensive. and im not aiming necessarily for the classic corset look i feel like a lot of the ones for#sale offer which seems to be very......booby. but the flatter more smoothing silhouette that was consistent between both menswear#and womenswear. the lengths it takes to be a nonbinary fucking clown. sighs deeply#also thinking again about the stupid fucking gold harley quinn jumpsuit i got like the movie that i Want to like and it Isnt Bad#but the material of the one in the movie is much thicker so its doesnt BEHAVE the same way as fucking form fitting spandex. and i know why#they did spandex. cos like. easier to sell cheaper to make fits a wider range etc. but i just want a fucking piece like that as an Actual#Garment of Clothing not a fucking spandex Halloween costume and couldnt find anything like it for less than $500. which is honestly#probably a reasonable price for labor and materials but not one i can justify? its just frustrating cos its So Close to good but the fuckin#Material just Ruins it for me and not even necessarily cos of like lack of shapewear lumpiness but like the way it drapes on the body the#way it stretches as spandex just looks Wrong. aaaaaaagaghgghghghggh#rage. anger. etc. need to learn how to sew my own shit at least a little. maybe a full length binder like 1 size up for comfort? scary#for context i also struggle with breathing from the lightest amount of Too Much Chest Compression. like sometimes bras will Get Me#so thats the other factor here. i dont know that this is necessarily looking for advice mostly im whining and complaining while doing#Nothing. ugh#also how much of this issue could be avoided if the form fitting spandex stuff had like. a lining. idk

I will say, having the tools (even golden 😠) break and have usage limits is one of the worst things ab acnh
I know it resets the count if you customize them, and each customization kit is only 500 bells, so it's faster to just buy those but like come on man fuck you
