Keeping the theme of literary yandere characters, I return with this Kafkaesque bizarrerie of a bureaucratic madman. content: gender neutral reader, kidnapping, absurdism
Yandere!Office Worker is a prim and proper young man. He's eloquent, well-mannered, and intelligent, albeit a little stiff in his ways. One can tell he enjoys rules and structure, perhaps to the point of absurdity - otherwise he wouldn't be such a great servant of the bureaucratic machine. Indeed, everything must go according to the established code of conduct; yet, the author of these instructions remains to be determined.
Yandere!Office Worker is convinced you must become his partner at once! Consequently, you wake up in a basement, though it's not the typical basement one would imagine when thinking about basements. The wallpaper is fresh and elegant, the little window bordering the ceiling allows for plenty of natural light, and the furniture is clean, luxurious, with a faint sterile smell to it. Of course, he cleans everything thoroughly every morning at exactly 7:45am, with the exception of your bed, as he does not wish to disturb your slumber.
Yandere!Office Worker listens to your horrified pleas with profound interest in his eyes. You're a tad annoyed by his sympathy. "Hey," you warn him, "you're literally the one who kidnapped me. Don't pretend you're not involved!" He gasps, his pale, slender hand clutching at his chest. Well, pretending to clutch, that is: he wouldn't want to wrinkle his buttoned shirt.
Yandere!Office Worker vehemently denies any kind of wrongdoing. No, no, you were not kidnapped. It's a misunderstanding! He has the paperwork, you see. Everything happened according to the law. If you do insist, he can call the Tribunal. They'll tell you it all happened officially and correctly. "What's this Tribunal you speak of," you ask with a skeptical frown. "Let me call them myself," you demand, "since you can't be trusted."
Yandere!Office Worker hands you the telephone with pompous theatrics. "You're in luck," he says, "they're only open on Thursdays and Tuesdays, but only if it's sunny." You rip the device from his fingers and dial the number. His own phone begins to ring. "Yes," he answers solemnly, "how may we help you?" You stare, bewildered, at the scene unfolding before you. "Are you mocking me? What's the meaning of this," you begin to shout, but he quickly places a finger over your lips. "Not right now, Darling, I have an important work call."
Yandere!Office Worker is a damned lunatic. You march towards the door and urge him to let you go. You have coworkers, friends, and family waiting for you outside. Your partner! This idea seems to upset him greatly, because he stomps his foot into the carpeted floor and gesticulates: "Because he lifted his skirts like this, this giddy goose," he cries out, "you chatted him up, dug your nose into the pretty words like a well-fed pig!" He grabs your hands with desperate urgency. "Won't you understand already? I'm your husband, I ought to know you better than all these strangers you speak of."
Yandere!Office Worker is rather convincing in his ministerial meltdown. You inspect the documents, putting each line under scrutiny. Finally, you click your tongue. The rascal has a point, after all, everything matches the paperwork. "No mistake," you confess, handing him the thick, leather-bound folder. "I suspected you'd come to your senses very soon," he beams. "Let's go upstairs, I'll make you a cup of coffee." You follow behind obediently. "I'd like-" you start, but he interrupts you. "Half a teaspoon of sugar, a little milk foam on top. Who do you think you're talking to, (Y/N)?"

Tumblr media
About a month ago, your manager texted you about doing a podcast with Jake Shane, and you quickly said yes. You contacted him shortly after your managers confirmed it, expressing your excitement. Since then, you've grown closer and spent the night before the episode was filmed.
The two of you went out to dinner and got to talking about various of topics. It was a great way to get to know each other. You consider each other as friends now.
You've used social media since you were fifteen years old. You began by posting YouTube videos, and you continue to do so. Tiktok became another source of content to promote, including daily vlogs, hilarious content, and so on. Nothing would make you change it.
Everyone was getting settled before filming began. Jake started off by talking about a few topics then you came in. You were super excited about doing this.
“Welcome to Therapuss! "We've got the incredible Y/N here today," Jake says, gesturing toward you as you relax into the comfortable chair across from him. You flash your characteristic smile, which your followers enjoy. The cameras roll, but it feels natural—just another day in your life, sharing your thoughts and experiences with the world.
"Stop it!" you chuckle, shaking your head. "But seriously, Jake, thank you very much for having me. "I am a huge fan of the podcast."
"You're too kind," he replies, smiling. "So, let us dig in. You've experienced an unimaginable rise on social media. Your vlogs are really addictive, your TikToks are continuously trending, and everyone adores you. "How does it feel?"
You enjoy answering questions like this. They are your favorite because you don't always get to discuss what inspired you for doing this.
"It's surreal, honestly," you acknowledge. "I started YouTube my freshman year of high school because I wanted to look back on the moments I made. I never imagined it would turn out like this. It has been a whirlwind, but I am grateful for it."
Jake takes it all in, leaning forward and resting his chin on his hand. "Based on what I've seen, your content is incredibly diverse in your vlogs, TikTok, and lifestyle tips. Tell me, how do you balance all of that?" He asks, intrigued by what you do.
You respond to the question by explaining how you learned to draw boundaries over time. You prefer to keep a lot of things private that do not affect the outer world. As your audience grew, you formed a unique bond with them.
"Do you have a show you've been obsessed with lately?" Jake asks you while laughing and raising his eyebrows.
"Duh, Outer Banks pookie!" Before you laugh and toss your head back theatrically, you smirk. The statement, "I love all characters, Rafe is my favorite," leaves Jake speechless.
"Let me explain, his character is so interesting and yes, he's a psycho," you huff, putting your palms up in defense.
Jake and you keep talking about the show and his favorite show.
Jake nods in agreement. "Totally. Okay, switching gears to Pougelandia. Tell me everything."
You giggle and lean back in your chair. "Oh my goodness, that was incredible! The Outer Banks cast is as cool as they appear on television,” You gush, your excitement is evident.
Jake’s face lights up hearing you talk about the cast, “stop it that sounds so sweet, tell me more!”
You quickly point at him, “They’re so down to earth and so sweet. I got to meet practically everyone except for one person,” pouting then covering your hands with your hands.
Jake shrieks in surprise, "bitch who? "You must tell me!" He exclaims excitedly, settling into his seat.
“Drew Starkey. I was very disappointed since I'd heard he was the sweetest person, but our schedules didn't work out." you confess with a hint of disappointment. You were excited to meet him and start a conversation like you did with the rest of the cast.
Jake, of course, teased you about it, saying, “I feel like we’re setting up a rom-com here. Drew, if you’re listening, the universe is waiting.”
The remainder of the podcast you two continue to talk about various topics and even did the infamous NAME—someone will send in a question or mention something for Jake and the guest to answer the question on the podcast. There were lots of interesting questions.
A few days later, the episode is up—fans are talking about you talking about Drew and you wanting to meet him. TikTok is overloaded with clips of you talking about Drew, and your comments are full of hopeful hints about a possible meet-up.
You'd just completed editing your most recent YouTube video for your next vlog, and you were drained enough to fall asleep at your desk. The buzz of your phone buzzing from your bed, frowning but curious in who it could be.
You scream. Literally scream.
Drew Starkey followed you.
Drew Starkey sent you a message.
"Am I being punked?" Am I dreaming? "What the fuck is happening?" You ramble while holding your phone in your shaky hands and looking at the two notifications on your lock screen.
Allowing yourself to relax and compose yourself. You unlock your phone, tap on instagram, go to the messaging tab, you’re sure your jaw dropped to the floor.
Drew Starkey: Hey, I recently watched your podcast with Jake. We should get together sometime—finally make up for not meeting in Pougelandia!
What do you say?
How do you come off calmly?
Yourusername: Hi! Yes, it sounds perfect. Let me know when you’re free.
Tumblr media
Fast forward two months later, you feel you’re still in a dream. Drew and you hung out together at a local coffee shop then went back to your place to talk more. Once you started talking you two couldn’t stop.
After hanging out the first time came more meeting ups. Drew asked you to be his girlfriend three weeks ago—you were shocked and excited all at once.
One day, while scrolling through TikTok in your kitchen, leaning on the counter, you came across the trend—wait they don't love you like I love you. You thought the trend was silly, so you decided to participate.
You did a couple tries and posted your favorite one out of the four—not realizing Drew was in the background on his phone, unfazed about what you were doing. Your comments started blowing up.
Bestie you got some explaining to do 🤨
Causally dancing in your kitchen while Drew Starkey is walking around at the same time? Interesting
When worlds collide fr 😏
Alright where the cameras at...
I fucking knew it!!!!

green cliffs: - lessons in mortality. chapter three
highlander!soap x fem!reader. cw dubcon. read here on ao3
You grab the nearest item in Johnny’s room and lob it at his head, which he dodges with an ease that sets off your temper again. It’s a cup and it shatters against the wall, a last gasp of dust that settles into the air.
“You are a right bastard,” you hiss at him, so angry that you shake with it. You had barely been allowed a moment to process what Johnny had announced - without consulting you - before you were being hustled out. Johnny’s arms a firm band around your waist as he brought you to his room, something that had almost set you off in the hallway.
You expect him to get angry at you, the way he did out in the woods. If anything he seems delighted, broad smile as he laughs at you. Dodges your next throw - a book this time - and catches you, sweeps his arms around your waist and hoists you up against him. “Am sorry, a am sorry,” he grins into the curve of your jaw, the hint of teeth before he settles on a smacking kiss as you squirm to get away from him. “A just couldnae contain masel’, I had tae tell ‘em.”
“There’s nothing to tell, what are you talking about?” you snap, thumping your palm against his shoulder to get him to relinquish you. His shoulder is hard underneath his white cotton shirt, firm muscle that flexes as he adjusts his hold on you.
He doesn’t. Just continues to laugh, as if you hadn’t even spoken, eyes sparkling as he seems to be caught up in some other thought. Let's go of you but you can’t go far before he has your head held in his hands. “My father will want a full ceremony, so we can make it official there, Am sorry that I announced it before, a couldn’t help myself.” He nudges his nose against yours, affectionate like he’s allowed to be.
“I don’t understand,” you whisper, a twist in your mouth. You think about your brother, think about how you are going to get back to him. You’re starting to think that maybe you were the one to leave the pitchfork in the hay and guilt curdles in your stomach, another mess for Ian to clean up after you. Johnny’s hands cradle the back of your skull and you think that you are stuck here. Walked into the maw of a lion and were surprised when it bit down and caught you.
“That’s alright, angel, I can sort everything,” Johnny soothes you, but it just raises your hackles more. He nuzzles his face into the size of yours, the bristles of his beard catching on your skin and leaving you feeling raw. He pulls back, just enough to nudge his nose against yours. His mouth is so close to yours, and he seems to realise this, blue eyes going half-lidded as he sways forward.
“Johnny,” you interrupt, and his breath hitches in his chest, a fine tremor running through him as his name sits in your mouth.
“A know, cannae help maself around you,” he admits, leaning back just the smallest amount, a hint of bashfulness that you narrow your eyes at. Like he’s putting it on. “I’ll go speak wae my da, see if we can speed up the wedding, yeah? Then we don’t have to be so nervous.” His eyes shine, as if caught up in a fever dream.
“Johnny, I don’t -” you start, but he gives you another kiss on your cheek and darts away before you can finish what you were about to say.
Maybe that is how he justifies this to himself. If he isn’t here to hear you protest, then maybe that means you aren’t protesting at all. You scowl around his room, wondering how much destruction you can get away with.
It’s messy, which is about what you would expect. An oak table in the corner with a few dishes on it, left behind presumably from the last time he left - you hope. His bed tucked into the corner of the room, rich red sheets, crumpled, as if he had left in a rush. You wander around, drag your hands down the wolf hide thrown over the armchair by the fireplace. Imagine yourself being here, living here. Dig your fingers into dead flesh, the give of fur that has been stripped from a living thing.
His blood is still under your nails. You suddenly decide that you need to be clean, need to be scrubbed down of any traces of the last couple of days and start anew. Maybe Johnny is like an animal, if you stop having his blood on you, he’ll let you go.
There is a metal basin in the corner, but there isn’t any water in it yet. You falter, uncertain as you look down at it. Then square your shoulders. If you were going to convince Johnny to retract his proposal - that was more skipping past proposal and straight into matrimony - you would need to be brave enough to at least ask for warm water.
You poke your head out of the room, trying to catch the eye of anyone wandering. A stout woman is wandering past with a basket on her hip, filled with sheets. You tentatively call out and she turns a questioning look on her face. “Hello, sorry to bother you. Do you know where I can get some water for a bath?”
The woman - grey streaking her hair even crammed into her bonnet - squints at your face for a moment before she glances at the room that you are poking your head out of. “Ah! Johnny’s bride, aren’t ya? Nae bother, lass, I’ll run and get ye some water just now.” She pauses, giving a frown at the general state of you. “I’ll grab ye some clothes as well, poppet, ye look a right state.”
She’s off before you can find the words to let her know that you are not Johnny’s bride. Not that you know to even begin to articulate such a statement. You wonder if you do protest too much, if you would just be forced out of the keep. Told to find your own way home then, if you were happy enough to rudely reject the heir. You know that you are to the west of your home, but the intricacies of the journey are lost on you.
You slink back into Johnny’s room and settle into his armchair, feel the fur of that dead wolf on the back of your neck as you sigh. Stare down the portrait of what must be one of Johnny’s old relatives on his wall.
The older lady is efficient, barely any time has passed before she is back, bustling in with a bucket of water that she sets by the fireplace and starts trying to spark a flame. Mrs Duncan, she introduces herself as she settles down on her haunches with a grunt. “Oh, I can sort that - it’s alright,” you start to say, standing from the armchair and hovering as if ready to take over.
“Nonsense, ye’d likely dae it wrang and then I’d have tae come back and do it fer ye anyway,” she says. The words are harsh, but the manner in which she says them is as if she hadn’t just insulted you. You bristle, beginning to frown. You’re interrupted when she catches sight of the rest of the room. “Ah, look at the state of this. See that boy, absolutely no shame, y’know if he expects a woman to be living here wae him, he cannae be leaving it in a state like this,” she tuts, fire catching finally and she bustles around leaving the fire to warm up the bucket and gathers up any of the dirty dishes that have been left behind.
You twist your mouth, trying to hold back a scowl. Mrs Duncan is gone again anyway, returning with another bucket. There is a constant stream of conversation, even if you aren’t contributing much to it. She has a nephew in the keep, the stablemaster, and apparently he is as messy as Johnny. You hum politely, nodding in the right places.
You jolt back to yourself when she stands you up, the buckets of now steaming water in the basin, reaching behind you to undo your cloak and tossing it at her basket of sheets. “I can do that myself,” you yelp, stumbling away from her as she reaches for the clips on the back of your dress.
Mrs Duncan pauses, watching your wriggle away from her. She looks a moment away from protesting and yanking your dress off anyway, but the mullish look on your face pulls her up short. “No need to be prudish around me, poppet, I’ve seen all sorts in this place. I’m sure you haven’t got anything that would concern me,” she tells you, raising an eyebrow at you.
“I’m not - I just would rather sort myself out,” you manage. Her face doesn’t move. “It’s been a long couple of days, I just would prefer to.” She relents at last, a gust of a sigh before she scoops up her basket and leaves. You are left with firm instructions to leave your ruined dress by the door and put on the new one she brought for you - a pointed pat on the fabric that she has laid on Johnny’s desk.
Alone again, you tip the water into the deep basin, watch the steam wrap up in the air. It catches on your face and sticks, curled into the curve of your cheek and leaving behind the faintest of moisture. You yank your dress off, finally taking stock of it. It is ruined, Mrs Duncan hadn’t been exaggerating. Blood and muck and dirt, the skirt torn at the edges slightly. You hope that Mrs Duncan doesn’t toss it away, it had been your favourite for a while. You wonder if she would notice if you managed to get it cleaned in the bathwater after you were finished. Something tells you that you are unlikely to get away with it.
There’s more water than you’ve ever seen here. Usually, there is a single bucket that you manage to heat up and tip into the basin that you and Ian had been using since you were young. You suppose this is Johnny’s bath, and must be large enough to accommodate him. Deep and forged with a thicker metal than your basin back home.
Standing in your slip, you gnaw on your lip as you watch the door. There is an overwhelming urge to be cleansed. Some sick combination of Johnny and those Englishmen’s blood has seeped through your clothes in some places and have stained your hands, your legs. Your skin crawls with the need to scrub it off. However, the fear of Johnny coming back to his room and finding you naked is enough to give you pause before you jump into his bathtub.
You pause, twisting bare feet on the cold stone of his floor, as if you have created the time in which he will come back in. A few beats pass. If he comes back, which is unlikely, then you will just ignore him, you decide. You tug the filled basin slightly around the corner just in case. Childishly hoping that he may not notice you now at all if he does come back.
Your slip comes off and you sink into the warm water, groaning at the feeling. You dip yourself down fully, suspended in water for a moment before you pop back up, reborn again.
You scrub at yourself with your nails, dig off grime and blood. There’s a hardened piece of animal fat, soaked in a sweet smelling oil that you imagine is Johnny’s soap. You scrub yourself with it, an old version of yourself slicking off and sitting as a filthy film in the water. You dig into your hair next, lather and rinse until your scalp stings.
Perhaps you overindulge. Lie with the rim of the basin digging into the back of your neck and stare at the ceiling for a little too long. You think that the more likely reason is that Johnny is able to sense that you are naked and comes running.
The door opens and you flinch, sinking further into the water. The liquid surges, almost capsizing over the sides at the startled movement. Johnny flies in through the door and stutters to a standstill, almost hurling over himself at the sight of you. Blinks and breathes through his mouth, a faint wheezing noise.
You sink further into the water, cradling yourself as if to hide from his view. “Could you be a gentleman for one minute, and leave so I can get out?” You ask, trying to sound firm, but it comes out as a faint plea that makes you wince. Your plan to ignore him has fled, he commands too much attention, too much of your attention.
He barely seems to hear you, eyes focused on the flesh he can see through the water. As if entranced he stumbles towards the basin, distantly starting to tug his kilt out of the pin at his chest. Slow at first, then faster as his chest starts to heave.
“What - Johnny !” you exclaim as he strips off with an eagerness that almost throws him into a wall before he’s bare and striding towards the basin. He’s all muscle, built with no give in him. There’s hair over his chest, thinning to a line down his belly that has you averting your eyes with a flush. “I can get out -” you start, one hand still trying to cover yourself while the other tries to find some purchase on the edge of the basin.
You’re lifted up by your arms before you can stop him, squealing as he all but jumps into the basin and drags you down on top of him. Water sloshes everywhere, you hear the slam of it on the floor as he gets settled. It rocks around the two of you for a moment before it finally starts to settle.
Flesh squeaks against flesh, your breasts pressed against his chest as he holds you still until he’s sat down, you half-cradled into him. A familiar position, although it irritates you a lot more than it did in the saddle. You wiggle, trying to struggle free but it only makes him groan, hands seeking out the expanse of your back to grip, making you still. “This is inappropriate,” you hiss, feeling something twitch on the soft skin of your belly. Animal panic, the kind that makes you want to buck and kick him away but also freezes you in place.
“You’re the one who’s bare in ma bedroom,” he points out, hefting you further up his torso so that your faces are pressed together before you lean back. He almost goes cross-eyed, trying to take in your face as well as the press of your chest against his. The hair on his chest is wet, flattened down but it still tickles when you shift slightly. Fine but dark, plastered to tan skin. A freckle on his shoulder that catches your attention before you drag it back again.
“I was taking a bath,” you try to justify yourself. He hums in response, smoothing his hands up and down your flank. A hand up your side to glance against the side of your breast which makes him groan. “Johnny, we’re not even married yet - this is so inappropriate.”
He laughs at your scolding, dipping his head to press a kiss to your cheek and then bites at the apple of your cheek. Light, more to feel you jump under his hands more than anything. “We’re no’ swiving,” he points out, nose in the wet of your hair. “We’re promised, a reckon the Father wouldnae look too harshly on us fer getting tae know each other.”
“I would,” you snap.
“Ye look like a water nymph,” he murmurs, half-dazed as if he had been struck. Half the water is out of the basin, leaving your back cooling in the air. He's like a furnace, against your will, you instinctively curl into him, try to keep warm. His hands are grabbing at your back, as if he wants to touch all of you at once.
“Johnny,” you start, trying to get up again. Palms flat on his shoulders, try to use this momentum to force yourself up, but he all but yanks you back down. Your hands barely cover the breadth of his torso, small as they curl into his collar.
He sighs against your temple, a groan trapped in his chest. He bucks against you, forcing you still again and you feel him slide against your belly. “Ah, fuck,” he mutters. “C’mon, c’mon.”
You don’t know who it is that he’s speaking to, feel the kick of his leg as he braces you against himself, the rock of his hips against yours. Flesh and water, feel the lap of it around the curve of your waist. His breath is hot against the skin of your cheek, your scalp, your neck. He digs his fingers into your backside until you flinch and whimper which just makes him moan even hotter against you.
You hold tension in your back until you can’t, a twinge in the muscle. You deflate, let yourself sag into Johnny as pants into your ear. There’s a coil in your belly, has you tucking your head into his collar, waiting it out.
The sight of you giving in must be too much, you feel the same wetness from the forest only this morning, kick out onto your belly. The water likely washes it away, but you feel it like it’s branded you. He whines your name out, sounding pained. The sound of his punched out voice has something in your belly clenching, even as you ignore it.
His hands are still rounding over the curve of your backside, but you let him. Decide to save the energy for something else you will need to argue about. There’s a red scratch hidden in the scratch of his beard. You lift your hand and thumb over it. He hisses slightly, but you feel his cock kick at the feeling. “This from those men?” you ask, voice hushed.
The quiet of your voice seems to catch his attention more than you’re yelling does. Attention stretched to you, catching each word in a tight net. “Aye,” he murmurs, turning his head as much as he can without shifting your thumb from the bolt of his jaw. His eyes are half-lidded, but alert when pointed at you. His hair curls into his forehead, dark and soft looking.
You twist your mouth, study that small scar. There had been a fight in your village once, daggers drawn between two men. One of them had cut the other across the throat, you remember the spray of blood, vicious, like it was escaping. A smooth arc in the air before it landed, the horrible choking that had followed. Blood spraying, gurgling as if it had changed its mind and wanted to stay instead.
One of the men must have had a dirk on him, must have caught this a little before Johnny had dealt with them. You imagine if the Englishmen would have cut your throat in the same way, if your blood would jump out of your throat, or stick close by you, dribble down and stain your skin instead.
You sigh, and drop your hand. Evidence of the hurt Johnny has earned himself is enough to quiet you, leave you ruminating over him. It’s distracting, being naked on top of him, everything that has you reeling at the impropriety of it all. Then, there is the scar on his calf, the cut on his jaw. Marks of hardship. For you.
Johnny nuzzles his nose into the space between your ear and your hair, inhaling loudly. “You use my soap?” he murmurs. You nod and he sighs happily again, you ride the wave of his chest deflating beneath you. “You smell like me.”
Even though you had been the one to use his soap, it’s another branding mark. You’re spared having to make some kind of response, another justification for your behaviour, as a fierce shiver shudders through you. Johnny may be a burning furnace under you, but the water is tepid now, and most of your body is left out of the water to the cool draught in his bedroom. He laughs at you, wrapping his arms around more of you as if to catch your shakes. His chuckle is a boisterous thing, starting in his lungs and bursting out. A nice sound, you imagine, if it didn’t always seem to be at your expense.
“Up we go,” Johnny hums, his hands scooping you out of the water like a messy toddler. Water cascades again but the mess was already there, so you barely give it any notice. Your feet almost slip on the stones but it barely matters with how Johnny won’t let you go.
You cover yourself as best you can with your hands, Johnny frowning at the sight as he holds the towel that you need. You frown back at him, one hand holding your breasts from sight, the other crossing your belly to cover the crux of your thighs. You can’t reach a hand out for your clothes without exposing yourself. Johnny seems to realise this and his fists tighten in the cloth, expectant grin. Open maw.
A heat in your cheeks, but you rationalise that he has already seen most of your body anyway. One hand still holding your chest, the other reaches for the towel. Johnny snaps his arms around you again and lifts you against him, something between a snarl and a laugh as he drops his head to your collarbone. “Can I get dressed, please?” you hiss, cold and irritated.
He presses a harsh kiss to your skin, beard catching and scratching at your skin, amused at your annoyance again. “Aye, my dear,” he smarms, letting you take the towel from him. You dart away, but you think that he lets you, more than capable of crossing the distance with a few strides and yanking you back into him. The towel must be his, large enough to cover yourself from view but also catch the damp of your hair as you tousle it dry.
You glance over your shoulder at him, and find him watching you, eyes suddenly sharp, taking you in. “What is it?” you ask, hiking the towel further up your chest. He’s still naked, dripping water shamelessly on the floor, adding to the mess.
He’s quiet, which immediately sets you on edge. Appraises you, eyes darting between yours, then all over. Silent. His size had been an annoyance, but you suddenly understand how those Englishmen must have felt when he came at them. You’re standing, a drenched cat, in the shadow of something much larger than yourself.
He still hasn’t dressed again, just watches you with water droplets all over his chest. The flex of his waist as he inhales, the twist of muscle there, seeming to flex as your gaze drops there. Everything in reaction to you. You refuse to look any lower, drag your eyes up and frown at his face.
Whatever he sees must satisfy him, because he takes a step forward and cups your face in his hands. You startle at the heat of his palms but he doesn’t let you go anywhere. Leans down and kisses you before you can stop him.
Strange to think that this is the first time that you’ve kissed, everything is out of order. You have only been kissed once, with the butcher’s boy who was a few years older than you, and had been sweaty. He’d tried to put his hands up your skirt and you had pushed him into the dirt and stormed off. You don’t imagine you could do that to Johnny, likely he would drag you down with him.
The sweat has washed off of Johnny, but you barely have any time to discern the press of his lips before they’re opening and you’re gasping, a revelation. His tongue in your mouth, licking into you like you were meant to be tasted. His thumbs on your temples, the span of his fingers cradling your skull. Held in place as he groans and licks further into your mouth.
There has to be something blasphemous about this, something unholy. There’s nothing appropriate about Johnny’s spit spilling into your mouth until it slicks in the gaps between your panting mouths. Spills down your chin as he tilts your head back to reach more of you. His tongue on the back of your teeth, the space between your gums and your teeth. A place that you thought only you knew about.
You’re frozen until you sway into him, head heavy in his hands. He doesn’t seem to require much reciprocation given he’s in your mouth, but you tentatively lick back, try to slide your tongue against his and you almost shy away from how loudly he moans at that.
He pulls back, just enough to seal his lips around your tongue and suck for a moment, eyes heavy on yours. Filthy. He pulls his head back enough to let you catch your breath, but now he just rests his forehead against yours. You blink at him, bleary. His spit, or yours, on your face. His spend on your stomach. Water everywhere else, but it doesn’t cleanse like you thought it would.
“Ma da wants us tae have dinner wae him, tonight,” Johnny murmurs, thumb smearing the spit across your chin. Pupils blown, swallowing up the blue.
“Alright,” you whisper back. He hums in response, as if considering kissing you again. “I should get dressed.”
His eyes flicker back to yours, silent again. His hands bracket your neck now, hands spanning across your collarbone. A beat. Then: “I’ll see if we can get the priest over here in the mornin’.”
You aren’t left any room to argue, before he’s crowding you into another kiss and pulling back with a smack that disturbs you. A string of spit between your mouths that pulls until it breaks. He’s across the room, yanking on his white linen shirt and is out of the door with his kilt held in hand.
You shuffle, uncertain, dripping wet in a strange man’s bedroom. The water spreads over the stone floor, catches in the divots and speeds up. There’s the smallest hole in the mortar, the water spilling towards it.
You drop your towel over the gap and step over the mess to get dressed. If the water wasn’t going to clean you out, you weren’t going to let it escape before you could.

You're just a little bit too much like me | Spencer Reid x Reader
Enemies to lovers | angsty fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Word count: 1755
Warnings: Normal criminal minds type of violence, mention of guns and gunshots, age gap (Reader is about 25, and Spencer is in his late 30s)
Content: Spencer being an asshole because he doesn't know how to deal with his feelings and how you remind him of his older self, past Spencer trauma (implied but not directly mentioned), self-doubt, Post prison! Spence
It was a difficult situation, only your second week on the job and the first time you had to make that kind of decision. You went alone to a location where the suspect might have been at, all of your teammates were further away so, as reckless as you now recognize it was, you went there alone, instead of waiting like Spencer and Emily asked you too. You didn't want to lose your chance, there were more than 3 days on the field at stake here, you did not want to disappoint your colleagues and just stand there waiting like a dumb newbie, so you made the decision.
“I'm going in” You warn your teammates in the radio, not waiting for a response before storming into the unsubs house.
You bust the door open with your feet, storming into the house. As you look inside, you find the unsub taking his gun from a drawer. Thinking you had an advantage as his back was facing you, you rush to try and immobilize him, but somehow he managed to turn around and shoot you.
You growled in pain as your body dropped to the ground, just before you passed out completely you heard the sound of rushed footsteps. You heard two voices, one you recognized as Emily's going after the unsub, and the other as Reid's talking to you.
“Please don’t go to sleep, we need you awake” His voice was soothing, far different from the tone he always used with you ever since you joined the team this year, but he sounded so worried, and you really did try to stay awake for him, for your team, to show that you were okay and that they needed to go after what's important, the unsub, but you couldn't. The last thing you heard as your vision got black was him yelling at his radio, “Medical, we need medical right now”. And then, everything went black.
You are now back at your first day on the job. Still at your house, confused as to what outfit you should use, so anxious about being so young at the top team of profilers, even thought it was a last year internship you hoped to impress them enough that they would hire you officially for the team, so your anxiety was through the roof wondering whether you really deserved to be there (goddamn that impostor syndrome). But most of your worries went away when you met the team, you would never imagine that the best profilers in the FBI and maybe in the world would be such good, kind and even funny people. They all welcomed you, seeming excited to be able to work with you, except from one of them.
Doctor Spencer Reid, you had read about him and his genius mind, you even went to a couple of his lectures on forensic psychology, honestly? You were a fan, and you were so excited to meet and work with someone you looked up to. Unfortunately, he didn't seem as eager to meet his new coworker. He just stood there in the back, staring at you while you introduced yourself to the team, the most he did was mutter a “morning” when you sat next to him in the briefing room.
Never meet your heroes, they say.
Now, you're back at… Where are you again?
Your eyes begin to open, you're completely adrift until you finally begin to recognize the awful white light, and the coldness of the room. You're at the hospital, no idea as to how much time has passed.
Jennifer comes into your line of vision, holding your hand, “Hey, how are you feeling?” her voice is calm, as she watches you sit up in the hospital bed.
“I'm fine, I think... I didn't even realize what happened back then. Oh shit, did you guys catch him?” You abruptly try to sit up, remembering how you couldn't get the unsub when you got shot, guilt washing over you as you started to piece together what happened
“Hey slow down, Emily went after him and made the arrest, the victim was rescued. He shot you, but it just grazed you. You did lose a lot of blood, that's why you passed out, but the doctors say you'll be fine to leave today. Don't worry.” She says as the doctor comes in to do his final checking.
You just agree with your head, lost in your own thoughts. You knew it wasn't your fault that you got shot, but still you felt so stupid. The hurt of not being able to catch the unsub might've been even bigger than the one from your wound, all of them had been in even more difficult situations than you and made it out without so much as a scratch, and you couldn't even catch an unsub that was alone?
After a few hours, you were back on the jet, finally heading home. The guilty was still bothering you, and you even apologized for the mistake. Hotch just asked you to be more careful and follow instructions next time, but overall, the team seemed genuinely happy you were fine. Except, of course, for Spencer, who ever since you got in the jet was staring daggers at you.
Later, the jet finally landed, and you were eager to get home. You quickly went to the office to get a few of your things, Unfortunately, you and Spencer were now all alone in an uncomfortable silence waiting for the elevator.
“That was reckless” Spencer mutters under his breath
“I'm sorry, what?” You turn in your heels to face him, had you heard that right? Is that the first thing he's going to tell you after you just got shot?
“What you did on the case, was reckless and naive. You should've followed our instructions, you can't just do what you feel like doing” he's looking in your eye now, his voice coming out angry but with a hint of… worry?
“I'm sorry ok? I tried to do something, I just did not want to just stay there waiting while he could be doing god knows what inside that house” Your voice comes out more shaky than you wanted it to, the weight of the guilt pressing into your chest
“Still, it was reckless and stupid, you should never just storm into, alone, a place where an unsub might be, you never know what he might do to you, what might be waiting inside.” His gaze is cold, almost as if he's not actually here talking to you, but somewhere inside his head and his memories.
“Trust me, I know that. I regret my decision, but I wasn't doing what I felt like, I tried my best, Reid.” You turn to look directly in his eye. Yes you did something wrong, but you wouldn't let him out of all people talk like that to you “I might be the youngest on the team, the one with less experience but trust me… I'm not dumb, I earned my place here.” Your voice shaky when you said that last sentence, the insecurity you felt showing through your words.
Something in his gaze shifted after that, his expression became softer, almost sympathetic. “Listen, I'm not saying you're not qualified, I'm sorry if it came off like that, just be careful… That could have ended a lot worse, trust me I know”
“ I will” The air between you two less intimidating now but still heavy with tension, you two step in the elevator, the whole way to the garage an awkward silence until you two finally reach the bullpen's garage.
Even thought you felt like now maybe he didn't absolutely want you gone from the team, you were still curious as to why he is so cold to you
“Sorry, I need to ask… Why do you hate me?” You turn to him, after finally gathering the courage to ask this question
“What do you mean, don't hate you”
“Yes you do, I mean you're not obligated to like me but since I joined, you didn't even meet me yet and just gave this cold look”
His eyebrows furrowed as he processed your words, clearly taken aback by your directness. He sighed, a hint of regret in his eyes, and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "It's not about you personally," he finally admitted, his voice softer than before.
“What is it about, then?”
He takes a deep breath before starting to talk “You're only 3 years older than me when I joined this team, I know what it does you, to your mind. I guess I just saw way too much of me, of who I used to be, in you, and it terrified me to be honest” His cold facade disappeared completely now, in its place a soft and genuine expression.
“So you were, and I'm sorry for the words, an asshole to me because you were worried?” You almost can't wrap your head around it, all this time you felt like one of your biggest references in the BAU hated you, but instead he was caring for you.
“Yes, I see how it comes out as “asshole” behavior, but my brain just went full shutdown when i saw you” His face turns slightly red when he notices what he just said – Freudian slip or just a bad choice of words? He doesn't's know for sure – His hand goes to awkwardly scratch the back of his neck “I mean… for the resemblance, of how I acted when I had just joined, of course”
You give him a small smile, and just like that your side that has been a fan and read all of this man's articles comes back to life “Of course. Thank you for worrying but maybe instead of hating me you could… I don't know, if it's not too much of a bother of course, help me? I value your worries Doc, maybe you could help me not make the same mistakes you did”
He nodded, a hint of relief washing over his features. "I'd be happy to help," he said, a genuine smile finally breaking through. "I might not have all the answers, but I can definitely share what I've learned along the way."
“I'm happy to hear that, thanks, Doc. Reid” You wave at him as you begin walking over to your car.
“Hey, just call me Spencer” He smiles warmly at you
“See you tomorrow Spencer”

valentine (aka sunshine reader and in love jason)
civil!reader x jason todd
prompt: valentine's day wasn't exactly jason's favorite holiday, he didn't really care about it, that's until his very excited girlfriend decided to surprise him.
a/n: okay, that's my second imagine, and i think it looks better, i was giggling and kicking while writing because these two are just soo cute, and the detail about the candle being syntactic is from a hc that jason just doesn't deal well with fire because of the explosion. english is not my first language, hope you guys like it 💗
Tumblr media
It had been at least two weeks since you started leaving little hints about the big day that was coming, Valentine's Day. A cute romcom about the holiday, some cute couple videos, anything to try to get your boyfriend in the mood for the day, but he simply didn't seem to care about it.
You figured it was because he never really had the chance to properly celebrate, or anyone to spend the day with, before you, his only focus was the whole vigilante thing, he never would have dreamed that on a saturday night he would be curled up on the couch, eating ice cream and watching 'How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days', but he was, and with a pretty girl resting her head comfortably on his shoulder.
"Jay? Do you have patrol next friday? I thought we could go out for dinner or something?" the girl asks, lifting her head from his shoulder to look at him with her bright eyes and a little pout on her face.
"I think Steph can cover for me, it's just routine patrol, why? some special occasion?" he asks with a naughty smile on his face as he pulls her close to him again, leaving a kiss on her forehead.
"Nothing really special, I just miss you," she says and his laugh immediately fills the room, leaving that comfortable energy in the air. "Baby, you're literally wrapped around me, like, right now." He hears her snort and shove him playfully. "Doesn't stop me from missing you." The silly smile on his face took over as he stroked her hair. "You're just one of a kind, aren't you?"
Turns out that missing him was only half true, not that you didn't miss him, but coincidentally, next friday was also, Valentine's Day, and the closer the day got, the more anxious she looked like.
When friday finally came, she already had everything planned out to the last detail, she convinced him to finally go out with Tim (who had been trying to go out with him for weeks by now), and put her plan in action, she had all the classic stuff, flowers, chocolates, a beautiful dress, a set table on the roof, and the best part, a limited edition of Pride and Prejudice packaged methodically with a red bow, matching her dress.
You managed to convince Tim to join you on the plan, stalling Jason until 7 pm, when he came back to the apartment, just to find everything in complete darkness except for a trail of synthetic candles leading to the window.
"Honey? Are you ready yet?" No answer, the only option was to follow the candles to the window, where he found a table set on the roof, with a bouquet of red roses, synthetic candles lighting everything up, and his favorite girl with a smile from head to toe in a long red dress.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Jay," she says as she tries to strike a sensual pose, leaning on the table, but she's so excited she can't hold it in for long, running towards him and stealing a kiss. "So? Did you like it? I know you're not the biggest fan of Valentine's Day, but I just wanted you to be able to experience it and it's okay if you think it's too much, we can just go back inside and order pizza or something-" her nervous speech is interrupted by an anxious and completely passionate kiss.
"I loved it, sweetheart, I really did, how did you manage to do all this without me noticing?" she smiles playfully, shrugging her shoulders and pulling away from him slightly. "I may have had some bats helping me, and wait, there's more," she says excited, her smile as bright as the candles as she runs to the table, grabbing a package, her heels making a clicking sound along the way.
"I remember you told me you really wanted it and I just couldn't help it, I hope you like it" she hands him the book, wrapped with a big red bow that matched her dress, and the happiness on his face made all the effort she put on it worth it. "You're so fucking perfect, how did I end up with you, huh?" he asks, showering her with kisses, while the smile never leaves her face.
"I guess it was fate."

Hyun Ju could have not expected her life to take a turn like this. Discovering she’s transgender was a question she was able to solve. But the problem was what it came with after.
Shortly not long after she came out, she was kicked out of the military, struggled to find a job for at least almost two months. A lot of her family members cut her off and she lost friends she knew for years.
It seemed like everything was lost, until she met you. You were in the light in her eyes she needed. She met you while she was running late for work and you were jogging and accidentally bumped into her.
She remembers it all well the moment she met you, what she and you were wearing. You were so beautiful and hope was found again.
Hyun Ju hoped to see you again when she came to work and she did. Days turned into weeks and eventually a month. She really wanted to ask you out but was terrified of the relationship not lasting long as she was hiding herself, her true identity.
But something told her to ask you out. So the morning that she got ready for work, she told herself, she’s going to ask you out when yiu see her. As usual, she saw yiu again. She put a hand up as if she was going to raise a hand but it was to capture your attention.
You stopped running, took out your phone to pause your music and took out a earbud from one of your ears.
“Hey, how are you?” Hyun Ju asked
“Good and you?” You replied breathing heavily from the running.
“I just wanted to ask you something.”
“Yes, what it is”
Hyun Ju took a pause and took a deep breath
“We’re always seeing each other when I’m going to work and you’re running. I just think you’re really pretty and I wanted to know if you would like to maybe get a coffee together or go out sometime?”
After what Hyun Ju said to you, you had to think of what she was saying to you. You also found him (because at the time you didn’t know that she identified as a she even in that moment)
Hyun Ju took your silence as a possible rejection. It wasn’t until you replied
“Sure, I would love to” You nodded
“Really?” Making sure of what Hyun Ju was hearing right now.
“Yeah why not?”
Hyun Ju couldn’t believe it. Was her life finally turning around for the better? Was this a sign?
“What time and day works for you?” You asked
“I get out at work around 6:30. 6, if my boss is merciful.”
“Alright then, I’ll see you tomorrow then?”
“Sounds great”
Hyun Ju nodded and smiled to herself. This was really happening. She asked out a girl.
“See you around then” You said about to go back to your daily running
“See you” Hyun Ju exclaimed as she was going to head to her work. She realized one thing. She didn’t know your name and you didn’t know hers
“Wait!” She turned around to face you hoping you didn’t run off already. Luckily, you just about to put your second earbud in when she called out. You turned around.
“I didn’t get your name.”
“It’s Y/N.” You smiled and Hyun Ju didn’t forget that
“Hyun Ju” She said
“That’s a pretty name. I hope you don’t leave me hanging tomorrow Hyun Ju.”
“I won’t.” She shook her head and laughed.
You chuckled too as you ran off, looked back and waved to him her. She waved back to you as she looked at the time and realized she’s running late. “Crap!” She ran off to her work.
A few hours passed and she was done with her job. She took the subway home and was tired. Your smile wouldn’t leave her mind. When she got back to her apartment, she prepared something to eat, watched TV and went to sleep. A few more hours and she’ll be going out with you, she thought to herself.
The next morning and she was more than ready to get out of bed to see your face again. Everything she was doing in her daily routine was fast paced as she was so excited. She always double checking herself, to see if her hair was fine in every reflection she could see. While she was fixing her hair while walking looking in a shop glass, she bumped into someone. She looked at who she bumped into, it was you again. Time felt like it stopped. She was going to apologize but you did first.
“We, well I gotta stop bumping into you. I gotta be more careful when running.” Yiu chuckled putting a hand to your mouth
“It’s alright,” Hyun Ju nodded smiling.
“Tonight’s still on?” You asked playfully
“What? Oh yes, it is.”
“Great!”
“Here,” Hyun Ju took a notebook and pen out of her bag and wrote down her number to give to you. “You can text or call me if anything comes up”
You took the paper and looked at what she wrote.
"Ok will do. I'll let you get back to you going to work."
"And I'll let you get back to running."
Both of you nodded and parted ways. A few hours have passed and Hyun Ju finished her shift. She rushed home to get ready for her first date with you.
It was going to be at a small restaurant, nothing fancy. When she saw you at and what you wore, it felt like her heart was going to fall out her chest.
The date has gone well and you started seeing each other after work more often. Both of you not long after started dating each other.
This was the happiest Hyun Ju been in a long time. Being with someone, finding peace and security. But while dating you, still being happy, there was something eating at her.
Her wanting to come out to you, telling you she's transgender. Over the course, you have been dating her, you notice his her hair would get longer and would paint her nails.
You seen other guys done the same as it was a trend mostly among Gen Z, so you thought nothing of it.
Every opportunity Hyun Ju had to tell you, she would shut it down quickly as she was afraid of losing you. She hated lying to you. It wasn't right, but she was afraid of your reaction of her telling you.
She believed that you would cry and yell at her, never wanting to see her face again. Tonight after work was the night she was going to tell you.
When she came home to your shared apartment, you came running to you excited to see you, her boyfriend girlfriend again.
"Hey babe, how are you doing? How was work" You said smiling
"Good thank you. Work was good. How are you?"
"I'm good thanks, just reading a book. I made dinner for both of us. I waited for you to eat togther."
Your kindness. That was the thing Hyun Ju was going to miss when she tells you the truth tonight.
"I need to tell you something, Y/N."
"Yes, what is it?" You asked without looking up from your book.
"I don't know how to say this. And when I do, you might not wanna be with me anymore."
You put your book down at what she meant by this.
"What do you mean?
"I have discovered something about myself. And I'm trans. Transgender."
"Are you being serious right now?"
"Yes I am. I won't be known as your boyfriend anymore. I probably won't even be yours anymore after I have said this."
Putting your book down, you got up and went up to him her.
"Hyun Ju-"
"Listen," Hyun Ju's voice starts breaking up as she looks down. "If you want to break up with me, that's fine. But this is who I am."
"I loved you as the man you weren't meant to be. And who doesn't say I won't love you as the woman you're going to be?"
"You're still going to be with me? People will look at us and I don't wanna damage your reputation."
"So what? Screw those who are going to judge, that's not make me change my mind or make me love you any less."
Hyun Ju tried to hold it in but she was crying. You held her close and sat down on the couch. Her sobs broke your heart. You probably didn't realize how hard this must have been on her, keeping this a secret from you.
"Do you want to go to the bed and just lay down?" You asked softly
"Yes, yes" She took her hands from her face and nodded.
You helped Hyun Ju up and went to your shared room. The room was dark as you turned on a lightly dimmed lamp.
You sat down on the bed first and waited for Hyun Ju to come. She hesitated a bit, but eventually sat down next to you. She wrapped her arms around you. Both of you went further into the bed as you both laid down.
Her broad arms were firm but soft on you as she laid her head on your chest. Trying to match her breathing to your heartbeat. You still felt her tears fall on your tank top and some on your arm.
"It's ok, it's ok. I got you" You whispered kissing her forehead.
Hyun Ju was shaking under you. This wasn't the reaction she wasn't expecting. She was sure you were going to break up with her. This all had to be a dream, like too good to be true.
But she felt safe here. Like her past and everything else didn't exist. It didn't matter.
"I don't deserve you" Hyun Ju said so faintly as shell break.
"Don't say that. Whoever made you feel like you weren't deserving of love just because of the way you identify, don't deserve you. Not the other way around."
After what you said, Hyun Ju just wanted to continue laying and not say another word. You kept kissing. Her forehead, her neck, slow and soft with your lips.
"I love you Hyun Ju. I'll always love you the same and to the moon and back."
Hyun Ju now knows it was indeed a sign you were the one for her. She gets up a bit to face and kiss you on the lips sweetly and gently.
A tear dropped down and you tasted her salty drops. You pulled back and just smiled.
"I love you too Y/N."
"We can take a nap and eat dinner later. Or we don't have to, tomorrow's the weekend. We can stay in, lay like this all you want."
Throughout the night, you guys talked nonsense until you both fell asleep holding each other. This was all Hyun Ju wanted and needed.
Safe and sound in your arms. She was ready to become a new person. But in your eyes, she was the still same.
She was still yours, and you were hers.

YES!!! YEAS!!!!!!! I also think about Flamela yelling at Mithrun over the fairy when he first wakes up in The Big Shirt. She tells him to do his duty to the queen! The queen she fucking hates!!! I think Flamela thinks she's subtle when she absolutely is not. She tries to hide her resentment towards the queen out of necessity (in Queen Hemea's blurb in the new adventure's bible it says the Canaries report to her directly and Flamela's the Deputy, so having open personal beef with the queen would be bad for her job prospects, if not her survival prospects), and tries to cover them with very loud false patriotism. But of course, because she is Not Subtle, everyone who knows her knows she's full of shit.
Mithrun meanwhile definitely played the nobility social game before getting shipped of to the Canaries, probably after as well when on leave, and he was good at it! We see from Milsiril's extra that he was largely well regarded and "perfect" from her perspective. He'd have social skills! He'd know how to schmooze and leverage his family's wealth and status, how to charm people, and collect information and allies!
He has all the skills to be the perfect scheming mean girl at the office, but he can't be fucking bothered, and that makes it worse!!! He used to be the EPITOME of the parts of society that Flamela hates. He would have been her perfect rival, except. He just. Doesn't care.
She could back talk him all day, say shit that would get her court martialed by any other commanding officer to him, and if it doesn't interfere with his ability to delve dungeons, he does not give a single shit. No reaction. And that's the WORST because what she wants more than anything is to FIGHT, but Mithrun just won't (read can't) give her that, so she hates him even more!
And he's everything she wants to be: competent, able to pit himself against danger and prove himself, unaffected (as far as she knows) by the gossip and behind the back talk all around them. Like, of COURSE new recruits gossip about Mithrun, he's got a rivating, juicy, and mysterious history, butt once they get over that and his desirelessness, there's just not much to talk about. He's predictable, he doesn't do anything interesting or scandalous except get his seconds killed, and death's just part of the job.
Meanwhile Flamela's EVERY MOVE is probably subject to endless discussion because of her royal heritage, and unlike Mithrun (as she sees him) she's not made of stone!! She wants to be as unflappable and untouchable as he is, but everything she idolized about Mithrun is either something he hates about himself or a self destructive coping mechanism.
I think she's obsessed with him. I think everyone else thinks she has a misplaced crush on him and bullies him because of it, and no matter what she says no one believes her when she says she just hates him!!! Because she doesn't just hate him, but she's not gonna say that she idolizes him as someone who has everything she wants and is everything she wants to be. Both cause she not recognize those feelings it and because could you IMAGINE the field day everyone would have gossiping about that????
Ryoko Kui's characters make me go fucking rabid cause she knows how to imply so much complexity with so little. (I think about Mithrun's "I used to drink a lot before I became like this, and I acted poorly." so fucking much cause it implies he used to cope with his insecurities through alcohol and behaved in a way he knew was unacceptable, but did it anyway. It's so much fucking complexity added by a single sentence in an alcohol tolerance extra!!!) She really is one of the best to ever do it.

If you have requests for any headcanons, I will be able to write them even during this stressful time. Full fics will take me a while longer. Enjoy reading, my loves <3 and feel free to add stuff!
He doesn’t really know how to cook well and mostly eats his faves every day but when you stay over more and more he makes an effort to learn and actually finds out he really likes it
Whatever pressure your parents put on you, he relieves it by accepting it rather than trying to fix it for you — you can just exist around him without expectation
He worries the age difference means you don’t have much to talk about, so he watches your favourite show that you mentioned and although it certainly wouldn’t have been his first pick, it lets him unwind. He likes watching something he knows you’ve watched and loved when you’re not around, it makes him feel closer to you
When he first starts looking at you differently he blue balls himself so as not to disrespect you — when he has sex with someone to relieve himself, he accidentally says your name to them
He keeps a polaroid of you in his wallet and cashiers wonder why he smiles at his debit card so much
He finds it hard to stay friends with your dad, because it makes him feel weird about this dynamic with you. He distances himself from your parents after they react badly to the news of your relationship, not because of guilt or cowardice, but because he doesn’t tolerate how they treat you
He thought he would hate the gossip after the two of you go public, but when you do, he finds himself imagining knocking you up just so everyone knows what he does to you. He opts for lots of hickeys until kids might be a possibility, but that doesn’t stop him from pretending you don’t have an IUD when he finishes inside of you
He loves when you wear his clothes, but when you forget your scarf at his place he wears it and enjoys that just as much — it smells like you and he likes the idea of people being able to tell it’s somebody else’s
When he figures out how much you like him talking to you during sex, he starts using the same voice/phrases in public to get you flustered & wet for him
He keeps everything that reminds him of you, like parking tickets etc. He doesn’t do anything with those things, doesn’t put them in a box, so they linger around his house, reminding him of you the way photographs would, except more privately
He starts “putting in an effort” for you when you start dating: styling his hair & wearing clothes he thinks you would prefer, until you tell him you like nothing more than his flannels and band tees and jeans, and although he doesn’t tell you, he’s beyond relieved. He realises you like him for him
When you tell your parents, Joel asks your father to hit him because “he knows he deserves it”. With time he learns he also deserves your kisses and smiles. Those things coexist within him, he thinks both are true
Despite completely supporting you in your pursuit of a degree & career, he likes when you’re on holiday, waiting around for him in his house wearing nothing but a pair of panties he bought for you & one of his hoodies. During those lazy weeks, he fucks you morning, afternoon, and night: before he leaves, when he gets home, and right before you go to sleep
He buys you a ring during the first week of dating because you mentioned how much you like it. He doesn’t give it to you until he knows you feel certain about him — he doesn’t want to freak you out. Still, even before that, he sometimes looks at it in its little black box and envisions it on your finger
During your first couple of “public dates” (neighbourhood barbecue where your parents are present etc.) he refrains from touching you much, although everyone knows about your relationship. You have to take his hand and initiate small touches for him to feel more comfortable
It takes him a short while, but then he loves being able to touch you in front of people: a hand on your lower back, an arm across your shoulder, his fingers lacing through yours, him pulling your back against his front and wrapping his arms around you. People stare sometimes (your Dad breaks one or two wine glasses in his hand), but Joel stops caring when he sees how happy it makes you
He tells you that you can change things about his home, that it should feel like your place, too and asks if you want to go shopping for “candles and stuff”, but you love being in a space that feels completely like him. It’s not how your apartment looks, but it makes you feel at ease, like you’re somehow living inside of him
Before he tells you he loves you, he whispers it in your ear when you’re sleeping, hoping your subconscious will somehow pick up on it. When he does tell you while you’re awake for the first time, it’s during breakfast. You stub your toe, and let out a string of curses you must have picked up on from him, and while he presses ice against your foot, kneeling in front of you, he smiles up and tells you: I love you.
The first time you sleep over at his house after he spent the night in your apartment, two brand new bottles of the shampoo and conditioner you use are in his shower. You thank him and jokingly ask why he didn’t buy your shower gel, too. He kisses you and tells you he likes when you smell like him.
He likes making you come more times than you thought you could — something about moving in and out of you while you tell him you can’t do it again, that you’re done, and then watching you fall apart on his cock anyway, thrills him to the bone. It makes him feel powerful, but part of it is knowing you let him fuck you without expecting an orgasm, that him being inside of you is enough for you to feel good
He doesn’t tell you, but he adds your name to his car insurance, so that you can drive it whenever you want
When you figure it out you give him road head every time the two of you drive somewhere — until he almost crashes the car and he forbids you to tempt him while he’s behind the wheel
He’s so nervous he asks Tommy for help when picking out a birthday gift for you — Tommy goes overboard and the gift turns out to be something completely ridiculous like a pair of huge earrings you would never wear. You tell Joel you don’t need a big fuss to feel loved by him. At night, he gives you a present he’s been wanting to give you for a while: he plays you a song he wrote for you on his guitar. It’s quiet and simple and so perfect you cry for half an hour
He doesn’t sleep well when you’re not around, and loves being close to you at night. If he could, he’d sleep nestled inside of you after a round of lazy midnight sex every night
As much as Tommy annoys him, it makes him happy to see how well you two get along. When you become actual friends with Tommy and hang out with him on your own, he’s more than pleased: the two people he loves the most in the world have become close
He would never ask it of you, but when you tell him you have stopped masturbating because he fucks you so often, it pleases him deeply. He likes being the only source of your pleasure. When you are apart for a while because of work/collage etc., he buys you a toy he can control from his phone
He tells Tommy he thinks he’s going to marry you during the first month of dating, which you find out about only on your wedding day during Tommys speech

For @tyferbebe who requested "You know you didn't have to get me anything" & Touch starved from my Winter prompts list <3 I changed the sentence a little bit
Tumblr media
Not Monday Carmen Berzatto x Fem!Reader Rated E (oral sex) 2170 words
You have a massive, ginormous crush on your neighbour, Carmen Berzatto. You find him extremely good-looking—even though he might not be the typical hot guy type—and the fact that he’s a successful chef takes things to an even higher level. The fact that he’s been capable of running some of the best restaurants in the world definitely impresses you, and, frankly, turns you on in all sorts of ways.
Hi, are you at home?
Mind if I pop in for a sec?
The two messages from Carmy show up on the screen of your phone, and you simultaneously panic and get excited. You’ve just returned from the Christmas family visit late last night, and now you’re in the middle of unpacking, sorting out dirty laundry, and eating leftovers. The urge to put on at least a bit of makeup and change out of your old sweatpants is strong, but on the other hand, you’re worried that Carmen’s plan might change if you don’t respond immediately.
Sure, come over!
The next second, you hear the door opposite yours open and shut, followed by a quick rap on your entrance door. When you open it, you’re still clutching your phone in one hand.
“Wow, you’re quick,” you blurt out with a laugh. Carmy smiles back, his dimples appearing, and your heart swells. Your eyes quickly roam over his form and face, hoping that he won’t notice your obvious gluttonous interest.
“I’m returning the screwdriver,” Carmen says, handing you the tool he borrowed at the beginning of December.
“Oh, thank you.” This has become a game you two play. Not so innocent on your side, as you would often come up with silly reasons, but hopefully convincing ones, to either visit Carmy or invite him over to your place—to borrow a cup of flour, ask him to change a bulb, or help you move the sofa. On the other hand, Carmen’s been over to yours for small favors like shirt ironing, sewing a button on his chef whites, or suggestions for Natalie’s birthday present.
“Sorry about the mess,” you say quickly, clutching the screwdriver like it’s a precious artifact. “I just got back last night and haven’t really… sorted everything out yet.”
Carmen shrugs, a little smile playing at his lips. “Looks fine to me.” His eyes linger for a moment on the half-open suitcase spilling clothes onto the floor before they return to you. There’s something about the way he looks at you—like he’s caught between being bashful and wanting to stay longer.
“So, uh, how was your trip?” he asks, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. You know that despite The Bear being closed for the Christmas holidays, Carmen was probably busy coming up with new dishes and similar things. No rest for the wicked.
You’re a little surprised by the question—he doesn’t usually linger after these quick exchanges. “Good. A little chaotic, but that’s family for you.” Carmen knows about your mother and three siblings—each of you with a different father—and how intense she gets.
Carmen chuckles, the sound low and warm, and you wonder if it’s possible to bottle it. You’d play it on repeat whenever you needed cheering up. “I can imagine.”
“Oh—wait! I’ve got something for you,” you suddenly remember and reach into your suitcase to fish out a small package adorned with a green ribbon.
Carmen’s eyes widen, flicking between you and the package as you hand it to him. “It’s Belgian chocolate. Milk with roasted almonds and sea salt,” you quickly explain. “One of my older brother’s father is Belgian. He always sends a lot of chocolates. I think he doesn’t remember how old we are anymore,” you shrug. “This is my favorite.”
Carmen’s face softens as he looks at the package in your hand, and he hesitates for just a moment before taking it. His fingers brush yours, and you don’t miss the way he notices it too—his eyes darting to yours for a fraction of a second.
“You didn’t have to do that,” he says, his voice quieter, almost shy. “It’s nothing,” you reply, brushing it off. “I mean, you’ve helped me out so many times. And besides…” You trail off, shrugging again as you feel a little self-conscious. “I thought you might like it.”
Carmen studies the package for a moment before meeting your eyes again. There’s something so earnest about the way he looks at you, it makes your chest ache in the best way.
“Thanks…Uhm—I didn’t get you anything.”
You wave your hand dismissively, shaking your head as you try to mask the pang of disappointment you feel, even though you honestly hadn’t expected a present from Carmy. “Don’t be silly. It’s not like that.”
Carmen’s shoulders relax slightly, though his brows remain knitted together like he’s still mulling it over. “Still… I feel bad now,” he mutters.
“You really don’t have to,” you insist, a small laugh escaping you. “I mean, unless you wanna give me the New Year’s kiss I didn’t get.”
When you blurt out the last sentence, your eyes widen as you realize what you just said. You quickly laugh again, only this time it sounds a bit forced. “I guess I take that from my mom—finding the right guy who would stick around is not my strength,” you ramble on uncomfortably, trying your best to get out of the situation with as much dignity as possible.
Carmen looks genuinely caught off guard, like he’s not sure if you’re joking or not. You can feel the heat rising in your cheeks, spreading all the way to your ears. “You serious, or…?”
Your heart skips—no, jumps—at his words. The laugh that escapes you now is soft, nervous, and entirely unplanned. “I mean… maybe?” you reply, your voice barely above a whisper.
Carmen’s eyes flicker to yours as he steps just a little closer, the tension between you so thick you can almost touch it. “You tell me,” he says conspiratorially, his voice even softer now.
You don’t even realize you’re holding your breath until he leans in, his movements careful, like he’s giving you all the time in the world to pull away. But you don’t. Instead, you tilt your head, your lips brushing his just barely, soft and tentative.
It’s you who leans back first, afraid of him ending the kiss. Only now do you realize you’re wearing old sweatpants and a stretched-out t-shirt, your face completely makeup-free. Carmen’s seen you at The Bear, when you went there for dinner with a friend—all dressed up in fancy clothes and carefully styled hair. “I’m a mess,” you state, still vibrating from the little kiss.
“You always look pretty,” Carmy says quietly with a small smile, sounding genuine. You want nothing more than to kiss him some more, so you ask: “Was that just a one-time—” but before you have a chance to finish your question, or even your thought, Carmy’s lips are on yours again, and your brain short-circuits.
Your bed is hiding behind an old antique paravent you bought in Boston when you first moved here. The bed itself is large, just how you like it, with a solid wood-carved headboard. That’s where you end up together.
The touch of your tongue against Carm’s is intoxicating; the taste of his kiss is absolutely addictive. You moan into the kiss needily, the sound catching in the back of your throat, and blush furiously at your own reaction.
Despite how much you hate admitting it, it’s been years since you kissed someone like this—since a guy has touched you like Carmen is now. His hands roam up and down your sides under your jumper, squeezing the meat of your thighs, enveloping you heavily, wholly.
Carmy’s solid weight above you is grounding and electrifying all at once. Your hands find their way under his hoodie, fingers brushing against his warm skin, the wiry strength of muscle a reminder of how physical his life is. He lets out a quiet, almost shy groan when your nails graze his back, and you feel the sound in your chest as much as you hear it.
“Is this okay?” he asks between kisses, his voice husky, his breath warm against your neck. The care in his tone makes your stomach flip. “Yes,” you whisper, arching into him.
That seems to give him permission, and his touch grows bolder. He pushes your shirt up, his fingers brushing against the bare skin of your waist, sending shivers up your spine. His lips trail from your mouth to your jaw, to your neck, each kiss deliberate. You’re finding it harder and harder to keep still under his attention, your head tilting restlessly, your teeth sinking into your lip to stifle the embarrassing noises spilling from you.
When Carmen leans away and up, you almost protest. He sits back on his haunches between your spread legs, all flushed cheeks and messy hair. He looks adorable and also devastatingly hot. Before you can say anything, he swiftly takes off his t-shirt and jumper in one go, and you finally have the opportunity to admire his bare torso.
The second you want to get up to explore his torso properly with your hands—and maybe your mouth—he stops you.
“Lie back,” Carmy gently nudges you into position, and you obey willingly, watching him curiously.
Carmen’s gaze is heavy, filled with an intensity that sends a fresh wave of heat coursing through you. His chest rises and falls with uneven breaths as he studies you quietly. All you can do is watch as he reaches down for the waist of your sweatpants.
“Can I…” he trails off, leaning down to kiss the sliver of bare skin peeking between the waistband and the jumper. Immediately, you nod, letting him know he has your consent. You even help him push the garment down your legs and off. His calloused fingers are warm, rough in a way that contrasts beautifully with how gently he’s touching you. You feel like you’re about to melt into the bed.
A sudden stillness forces you to open your eyes to check on Carmy. He’s staring down, right between your legs.
“It’s not Monday,” he says, sensing your eyes on him.
“Whaat?”
He touches his thumb to your pelvis bone. “Here. It says ‘Monday.’”
Confused, you look down. It takes you only about two seconds to understand that he’s referring to the word on your panties, just above a picture of daisies.
“Shut up,” you nudge him with your knee, laughing.
He chuckles low, his breath fanning against your skin as he presses a kiss just below your navel. “I’m just observant,” he murmurs, his lips brushing your skin between words, sending a violent shiver up your spine with the tender contact.
“And for the record, these”—he hooks a finger under the elastic, tugging gently—“are cute as hell.”
Then, instead of taking your underwear off as you expect, he takes your hand in his and pulls it down to your crotch—a silent invitation to touch yourself. You do, feeling your heart in your throat, turned on and shy in equal measures. Carmen watches as you stroke yourself through your panties, hesitantly at first. You’ve been wet since the moment you two started kissing, the damp patch on the pale blue fabric drawing Carmy’s eyes.
He lowers himself, planting open-mouthed kisses on your inner thighs and moving higher, closer to your core. He kisses your hand too, mouthing at it with his tongue as if it were your mouth—or your pussy. You can’t believe something so innocent can feel so sexual, and you let out a stream of soft moans. With every passing second, you’re closer and closer to voicing out loud that it’s time for the main act.
Carmen seems to sense it—your need, your desperation. His gaze flickers up to your face, heavy-lidded, and he murmurs, “Don’t rush. Let me take care of you.” His voice is a low rasp, full of tenderness and heat.
The way he’s looking at you sends another ripple of arousal straight through you, and your breath catches when he pulls the soaked crotch of your panties aside, kissing your pussy for the first time.
“Fuck. Carmy,” you whisper, your voice shaky.
He hums against you, not letting up, giving you a hard lick—one that ends right at your sensitive clit. Your hands find his hair, threading through the soft strands as his lips and tongue explore you. You can feel his breath against your skin, the way it hitches every time you squirm or let out a sound. All the sensations are new, overwhelming, and intense in the best possible way.
Carmen doesn’t stop, doesn’t hesitate. His mouth is warm, deliberate, and unrelenting. The rough drag of his tongue paired with the softness of his lips makes your head spin. Each stroke feels like he’s memorizing you, mapping out what makes you gasp and moan with the precision of someone determined to get it right.

I’ve seen this idea mentioned sometimes that the Joker has something set up where if you kill him, he infects you with something that tries to make you into another Joker. I have no idea if that has any basis in the comics - it hasn’t turned up in any of the stuff i’ve read - but either way imagine using that with a “Danny kills the joker” story.
He might be partially protected thanks to not being fully human, but he doesn’t know. All he can tell is that he’s at least somewhat affected. It’s not like he knows of any examples of this happening before. Maybe his powers saved him, or maybe the toxin wouldn’t be fully effective on a normal person either. Or perhaps it just acts slowly, or it prevents him from realizing how far it’s warped him. He can’t tell.
He’s getting paranoid, he knows. But what else can he do? He can’t just ignore it and give in. He hates this. Why did this have to happen to him? Is there some force in the universe determined to ruin everything for him? Is his whole life some cosmic joke? He should burn it all down, then they’ll see who’s the joke—
no.
He refuses to do that. He doesn’t want to do that. He is was a hero, right?
But he was hated then, too. And now he doesn’t even have a respite. He can feel everyone’s eyes on him whenever he goes outside. He knows they’re judging him, waiting for him to snap. The one that try to help are clearly just trying to avoid him targeting then first. He hates it. He hates them. If he makes them fear him, maybe their stares will stop. No, no, he’s trying to avoid that. It is true that it might be safer for his loved ones if he drives them away though…
Maybe he should turn himself in. That could keep them safe. But what if they try to study him again, cut into his brain and see what makes him tick just like the GIW did?
Jason reaches into his jacket and begins to draw his pistol, readying for a fight. Neither hide nor hair of the Joker has been seen in days, and he’s constantly on edge. And he just heard the distinctive sound of sobbing laughter of a Joker Toxin victim. Part of him wanted to rush in guns blazing, but he forced himself to move slowly, carefully. He was not walking into a trap again.
Peaking into the room, he saw a single figure sitting within; a person, curled up in the corner with head in hands. Shit. He re-holstered his gun and began to approach slowly.
They didn’t seem to notice him, even as he stood right beside them and took in their appearance more closely. It was a boy, probably not much younger than him but looking much smaller in fear. His fingernails were chewed bloody, with more blood staining all around his mouth. His skin was incredibly pale, and Jason couldn’t tell if it was from a natural pallor, fear, or some sort of chemical effect. Jason reached out to touch his shoulder, and the boy suddenly jerked back and scrambled away, only seeming to notice him now.
“S—stay back!” he yelped. Jason thought his eyes flashed green for a moment, but he assumes it must have been the light. More importantly, the bloody lips clearly weren’t just from the boy’s hands; there were sizable wounds in his cheeks, presumably from more chewing.
“It’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you,” Jason said, showing his empty hands and trying to be reassuring.
“Stop lying! That’s what they all say! No one ever actually cares.”
“I promise you I’m telling the truth. Here— I’ll take a step back now. I’m not going to attack you. But you do need medical attention—I can get you an ambulance.”
“No– I can’t– no hospitals,” the boy hiccoughed. “Not safe.”
“How about a private clinic? I know some that won’t ask questions.”
“No, it’s not them! I’m not safe! I’m a ticking time bomb! I killed—” he broke himself off. When he spoke again, it was quiet, almost a confession, “I– I can’t, I refuse to be like him. I won’t follow in his footsteps.”
“Like who?”
“The Joker.”

Can you please write cute fluff headcanons of the acotar men ( whichever you want to write about) pampering their fem s/o with a massage because they see her tense with stress? Please and thank you .
Pleaseeee, the Bat Boys and Vanserra Bro's know how to treat their girls, especially when they are stressy spaghetti!!
I kind of want to split this up into a mini series, so I will do Rhys first. Let me know who y'all want second in the comments!
Rhysand
okay first off, why are you even stressed? This male does his very best to make sure his darling is never worried about anything.
But its okay, sometimes your emotions get the better of you. Not your fault darling, you're just his sweet girl who likes to worry your pretty head about things like how emotionally constipated Az is, or how Cassian is working overtime with his training after throwing out his back (embarrassing for the old ass male), and how Morr is being too secretive these past few months and something is definitely going on with her. Rhys thinks it is so adorable how you worry about the members of the inner circle, how you take care of them in the ways that they need.
He loves watching you pitter patter around the apothecary, trying to gather materials to create a balm for Cass' back. And he can't help but muse over you fussing over Azriel, forcing him into the settee in your office and having yourselves a little therapy session (he knows he will hear the tea about it later when you both go to bed, and he cannot wait). He does moan and groan when you plan for a girls night out with Amren and Morr, he wants to have some alone time with his mate, but you settle into his lap and pepper kisses all over his face and neck putting him into a lovesick daze before rushing off with a promise of what is to come when you arrive home from your night.
Anyway, you do sometimes get overwhelmed, you care so much. You worry about Rhysand, you worry about the inner circle, and more, you worry about Velaris and the entire night court. Being the first high lady of the Night Court has designed a load of pressure on you to be perfect at all times, to always say and do the right thing. And Rhys, well he grew up with that pressure. He knew this was going to happen to him, but he cannot imagine the stress you give yourself. Again, you care so deeply, and that is one of the things that made Rhys fall for you, so much so, he physically aches when you aren't around.
You always try to hide when you feel overwhelmed, too embarrassed and ashamed to admit it. Part of you doesn't want to bother the high lord, knowing he, himself, is incredibly busy putting out fires on a daily basis, and handling it with such grace. It is almost annoying how effortless Rhys rules. But Rhys knows. He knows you, and he knows your heart and soul. You don't have to tell him you are feeling overwhelmed.
He can feel it, he can see it. He notices everything about you. He clocks the crinkle of concern between your eyebrows, the way your hands shake ever so slightly as you read through and sign the most tedious and boring paperwork, the way you twist and turn the custom wedding ring on your finger, the way you shake your right leg as it rests across your other leg and how you pause it when you finally become aware you are doing it, only to start again. You are teeming with anxiety, and he will do everything in his power to get you to relax. He can't have his beautiful wife worried like this, oh no, not at all. You are too good, too pure, too precious to him to ever allow such a thing.
After deciding he has seen enough of his pretty girl worrying, he swoops you up, out of your chair and into his arms, right where you belong, carrying you just like he did on your wedding night, his stunning bride. He ignores your protests with a firm shake of his head, and kissing the side of your head with a small hum, tightening his grip on your squirming thighs and right at the edge of your breast, carrying you out of your office and into your shared bath. Halfway to the bathroom, you gave up your fussing and settled into his hold, wrapping your arms around his neck and burying your head into his warm chest. He sets you down gently onto the counter, and traces his hands up your sides and settling onto your jaw, softly kissing every part of your face he can reach, focusing his attention on your rounded cheeks, pouted lips, fluttering eyes and your temple instead of answering your questions on what you are doing in your bathroom when you each have mountains of paperwork lining your desks that need to be completed before the winter solstice next week. "Darling, I don't mean to hush you, but hush. You, my mesmerizing mate, are too stressed out for your own good. I don't want you to worry about a single thing, and I will take care of it."
You immediately go into full denial mode, rambling with a quivering lip, "I can handle it Rhys, I am High Lady, and this is my duty, and I know what I am doing." Your husbands violet eyes twinkle as they normally do when they are focused in on you, and he listens on as you bubble out excuses and far fetched tales describing how you "really aren't stressed" and have "no idea what he is talking about," all the while rubbing at your tense shoulders and kissing the side of your mouth until he finally hushes you again. "S'alright baby, I know. I know you can handle it and that you know what you are doing. But if I am being honest, sometimes I get overwhelmed. And I just need you, I need you to be close to me. So will you please take this bath with me doll? I will even feed you chocolate covered strawberries and give you a massage with that lavander oil you love so much after."
The pecks to the side of your mouth were enough to convince you to stay with your mate, and follow through on his plans for a relaxing evening, but you didn't need to tell him that. The chocolate covered strawberries and full body massage are just an added bonus. The quirk of your lips is enough for your mate to vanish both your clothes and place you into the warm bath in front of him, holding your back close to his chest. He washes your hair, even letting the conditioner sit in while he presses his fingers into the tight knots in between your shoulder blades. After washing each other off, you both find yourselves snuggling in your bed designed for his large illyrian wings. You lay your head against his corded chest, giving into the deep sleep that calls you as he holds you pressed up against him.
Thank you so much for reading! Please like, comment, and reblog! It mean's the world to me.
Here is more of my work: Masterlist

the one that got away
han jisung x fem!reader (hint of hyunjin x reader)
synopsis: jisung struggles with his unspoken love for his best friend as new year’s eve reveals that he’s too late.
wc: 926
(a/n: my late nye post. i’m sorry it’s angsty too. 😢)
Tumblr media
Jisung's heart was pounding steadily, drowning out the wild laughing and pounding music from the party. The air felt too heavy and suffocating. He had been looking for you for what seemed like hours, but time was running out, and the countdown was already beginning. He needed to find you. He had to tell you. For years, he had buried it. The feelings. The slight aching that had developed in his chest whenever you mentioned another guy.
Jisung would grin and nod whenever you talked about how much you liked someone or how you were falling for them, his voice composed and his face neutral. But inside? Each word from you was like a blade twisting deeper into his chest.
Tonight, though... Tonight, he planned to say it. He wanted to confess tonight, with the promise of a fresh start with the new year. He was not going to hide anymore. He was not going to let you slide through his fingers one more year. He needed to be brave.
And so, when he finally saw you, laughing brightly within the crowd, his stomach twisted in an unfamiliar way. You weren't alone. Hyunjin was there. Of course he was. Hyunjin, with his effortless charm and that goddamn smile, had everyone swooning. Jisung stood still, staring at the two of you, feeling a weight in his chest that he had never experienced before.
You were talking to him in the same way you had with so many others before: joking, teasing, lighthearted, and carefree, but it wasn't just that. It was more than just the playful back and forth. It was the way you touched his arm, your fingertips lightly brushing over his sleeve, and the way Hyunjin's gaze stayed on you, soft and centered. Jisung's chest squeezed severely as he stood in the corner of the room, feeling isolated in his own existence.
He couldn't move. He could not even breathe. It wasn't meant to be like this. You were not supposed to be so perfect with him. Not with Hyunjin. Not like this.
Even though he was only a few steps away, the distance between you widened as the countdown began. You were still so lost in him, and for a moment, Jisung felt crushed by the weight of his own emotions. He shouldn't have let things get this far. He shouldn't have let himself love you in this way. He had always been worried of ruining what the two of you had together. But now, it felt like everything was slipping away.
The clock struck midnight, the world erupted in cheers, and Jisung's world collapsed in the form of a kiss. Your lips touched Hyunjin's in front of him, and everything stopped. The sound of fireworks outside seemed to fade into the background. It was only you. It's just you and him. The two of you were caught in that kiss, the kind that people only share after they've passed that boundary and know who they are to each other.
Jisung had no idea how long he'd stood there, staring. He had no idea how much of his heart had broken in that one second. All he knew was that it felt like someone had ripped a huge, raw hole in him that he couldn't ignore. His thoughts raced around in circles, too rapid and furious.
This isn’t what I thought it would be. This isn’t what I imagined. This wasn’t how I planned for it to go.
When you moved away from Hyunjin, your gaze fixed on him. You smiled softly, with your brow furrowed in anxiety.
"Jisung?" you asked, your voice soft. "Are you okay?"
He wanted to scream. He wanted to say no, to tell you that he wasn’t okay, that everything in him was breaking. That he was never okay, that he had never been okay, as he’d watched you walk past him for years, falling for everyone but him.
But the words didn’t come. The lump in his throat was too heavy, his chest too tight. He swallowed, hoping to force the emotions down, but they just surged harder. He couldn’t do this. Not now. Not like this.
Instead of answering, Jisung did the only thing he could do. He turned away, his body moving on instinct, unable to stand there anymore. He couldn’t bear the sight of you, the sound of your voice, the warmth of your concern, when everything in him screamed I’m the one who’s been here all along. I’m the one who’s always loved you.
His feet carried him out of the room, out of the party, out of everything that felt like it might shatter him even more if he stayed.
The cool air hit his skin, sharp and biting, but it couldn’t touch the rawness inside him. He needed to get away, to disappear into the night, because the image of you with Hyunjin, your face lit up with joy, your heart elsewhere was suffocating him.
Jisung sobbed in the dark, alone with his thoughts. He didn't want anyone to see it. He didn't want you to know how much it hurt, how much he wanted to be the one you kissed. How he had waited so long for that moment, only to find you in the arms of another.
He'd passed up his chance, hadn't he? He'd let his fear rule him, let his own damn self-doubt stop him from taking the risk. And now the world felt too heavy.
Happy New Year, Jisung.
It wasn’t, though. Not for him. Not anymore.

I can't reply to the post directly but I saw a post where you were talking about trans masc erasure especially when you were in college and like....I feel it. I started college in 2003 and identified as a cis butch lesbian because I didn't know there was anything else to be, but also MOST IMPORTANTLY because my "resources" and info on trans men were basically Boys Don't Cry, which every lesbian I knew referred to as a lesbian film and Brandon Teena as a lesbian. There were also vague comments from time to time about Chaz Bono at some point, but again, everyone around me was referring to him as a "confused lesbian". What's frustrating these days is that while there is more information out there and more spaces, there still isn't enough. Like, I learned basically everything I know about my body from Gen Z friends who had better education and affirming teachers. And also finding space when you're almost 40 is an impossible task sometimes. At almost every trans masc group I've attended I've been the oldest by almost 10 or sometimes almost 15 years. It's a really lonely experience. A handful of times we've had moderators who are young and not trans masc and they've talked over me and tried to "correct" the language I use to talk about my experiences - for example, I call myself FTM, and I also say things like "when I was presenting as a woman" or "when I thought I was a lesbian". I use this language intentionally because there were over 30 years of my life where I had no idea of the possibility that I could be anything but a woman and that IS how I identified, and there are over 30 years of experience with that identity that I am still recovering from and that shaped the course of my life in a way that's difficult or impossible to explain without acknowledging it. Part of our erasure unfortunately comes within the community and people not listening to the experiences of others whose journey doesn't line up with the plot beats of a cinematic, linear coming out story (not to knock that if someone has it! But leave room for those of us who don't!). Even though I'm on T and have had top surgery, there's still so much I've had to figure out myself and it's a lonely life. I don't know how to date or make connections (or even if I should! I'm aromantic which I think complicates things sometimes). Anyway I don't know if any of this is relevant but like. I just wanted to say I relate to the erasure stuff. Wouldn't change who I am for anything, but I would change the world in which I had to figure it out.
im really sorry you can relate to this, it affects so many people and a lot of people are proud to say they don't care. it's not okay. trans men and mascs need community irl. i'm bet things were way harder back then, i can't even imagine how hard it must've been to talk about being transmasculine in 2003.
im going to keep my reply brief because i do not want to distract from your experience

However, as fear and hunger tirelessly tugged at your stomach, you eventually came across a charming cook and the rest of his crew.

Night was falling on Grand Line and, in the distance, you saw the hull of a ship.
A growl twisted your stomach painfully. You felt saliva rise to your mouth as your fangs began to slowly lengthen, tickling your gums. You could already imagine the meat filling your stomach as the blood rushed down your throat. And the nausea that accompanied this invasive hunger would finally go away.
So you slowly approached the boat while being careful to stay underwater and then, when you judged that you were close enough to the wooden base, you gently took your head out of the water.
You saw a jolly roger floating at the pavilion.
You then noticed how bright and noisy the deck seemed compared to the rest of the night around them. You heard screams, songs and laughter that resonated in the air like echoes. From the tingling that spread along your fingers, you knew that your nails had now grown and become as sharp as daggers.
Your stomach growled again.
Suddenly, a head appeared above the hull.
The man looked dirty and you didn't think his smell would be very enticing but his blurry, hazy eyes told you everything you wanted to know. He was totally drunk. You heard him laugh towards his teammates on the deck before turning back towards the sea, holding tightly to the railing.
Being impatient, you lifted more your head out of the water and put yourself directly in his line of sight.
You knew he saw you the moment he swore.
“Good evening, my handsome pirate.” you whispered from the sea.
Without taking your eyes off him, you realized that he seemed captivated by you. He didn't take his eyes off you for a second, not even daring to blink, while a dreamy smile curled his lips. You leaned back slightly so that the lights of the boat reached your naked bust—only adorned with pearls—still underwater in a blurry glimpse.
Even if you weren't as magnificent as your peers, you were never as much happy to be even remotely beautiful.
“I feel a little lonely down here.” you continued as the man stared at you without saying a word. “Wouldn’t you like to come and keep me company?”
Without waiting, the man climbed over the railing before jumping directly into the sea.
You waited wisely for him to join you without moving. Your iridescent tail was beating more and more frantically under the water but you were doing your best not to move an iota. You just continued to smile at the pirate without leaving his gaze for a single second. You prayed inwardly that the sound of his dive hadn't been heard by anyone on the ship.
However, he managed to reach you without anyone pointing the tip of their noses so, while he raised his tired arms to place them on your shoulders with a smile that he must have thought was seductive, you grabbed his wrists.
Immediately, you turned him around so that his back was facing you and, without letting go of his wrists, you dove.
You had barely reached a meter below the surface when you caught his gusts of air bubbles in the face as he roared beneath you. The vibrations of his cry underwater sounded distorted in your ears but you continued to go further. He was also struggling like hell in your arms and you almost lost your grip on him before finally holding on and keeping him. Desperate, he did everything he could to escape—trying to kick you, headbutting you, biting your fingers—but nothing worked and, after a few minutes, he finally stopped gesticulating.
Now that he was as handy as a rag doll, you discreetly sniff out your prey. An immense relief flooded your chest when you didn't smell a single drop of blood.
You had already spotted a rocky reef several hundred meters away and which had the advantage of being out of sight for the pirate ship.
So you sped through the waves as quickly as you could with your prey tight against you. Your belly gurgled loudly and you felt your stomach curl in on itself but you didn't take a single fang from your prey. Even when your vision blurred slightly, you continued to flick your tail to go as fast as you could.
After several long minutes, you finally saw the rocky reef which rose not even a meter above the waves.
As soon as you reached it, you threw the man unceremoniously onto the hard surface before grabbing the rock with both hands and lifting yourself onto it with the sole strength of your arms. You felt the water gradually slide from your neck, then down your back, before finally flowing from your iridescent tail which then separated into two distinct parts until it formed two pale and frail legs.
Thanks to your two new members, you continued to climb out of the sea.
Just as you succeeded, you immediately lunged at the man lying on the ground. Your teeth, becoming longer and sharper as you swam, sank directly into the throat of your prey from where blood began to spurt freely. You relaxed your jaws and bit him again without taking the time to savor the taste of blood and meat in your mouth. Your teeth were razor sharp and sank blow after blow into the flesh as if it were nothing. Your sharp claws also cut the skin beneath you which was becoming colder and colder and, finally, you took your first mouthful with relish.
When you went back into the sea in the early morning, you left behind the completely torn and bloody corpse on the rock.

A week after your meal, you found yourself floating in nothingness again with hunger twisting your stomach again.
Indeed, a few meters below the surface, you let yourself be carried on your back by the current while looking at the light diffused in the water. Like an empty shell, you tried to forget what was around you. You tried to ignore the school of fish that was swimming lazily a few armfuls from you. Their multicolored colors shone under the light like light signals that attracted you. Just one would have been enough to appease a little of the hunger that was gnawing at your insides. But you knew what would happen to you if you dared to touch one.
If one of them accidentally started to bleed.
A shiver went down your spine.
No longer able to watch them swim quietly so close to you, you flapped your tail to leave. The movement of the water soothed you. Whether it was the contact against your arms or the currents that slid along your body while caressing your scales, it was inimitable. Even the feeling of your hair floating in the waves comforted you as it floated organically around your head. You found yourself in a place in the sea where there was nothing on the horizon.
You huffed.
Your stomach growled.
A little embarrassed by the sound, you nevertheless put yourself back on your back in order to relax and forget your hunger. You hadn't eaten anything since that meal last time and edible seaweed was rare in this corner of the Grand Line. You ended up getting lost in your thoughts, blinded by the sunlight, while the minutes passed with difficulty.
You didn't have any friends to help you pass the time.
No family to bring you love.
No clans to support you.
You were alone.
You knew that, if you had been out of the water, tears would have rolled down your cheeks.
Suddenly, your vision was darkened by a shape cutting you off from the sun. Like a dark cloud, you saw the hull of a boat pass right above you while the movement it caused sent you deviating to the sides.
Pirates were becoming more and more rare in these seas so why not follow them?
It was not out of the question to dream of one of them falling into the water.
So you began to follow the ship expectantly. Well hidden under the waves it caused, you followed the building without revealing yourself. It wasn't going very fast so keeping up the speed wouldn't be too tiring. And you had every right to hope that one of them ended up in the water.
After all, nothing was easier to kill than a surface being.
And you didn't have much energy left to give.
So you spent the next few days tirelessly watching this boat.
The first day, nothing interesting happened. You just noticed another jolly roger in the wind when you sneaked your head out of the water during the night. One with a yellow hat.
The second day was the hardest of all. Having almost no strength left to swim, you clung to the underside of the hull and let yourself be carried. Hunger tugged at your stomach even more and you hoped deep down that the lack of energy expenditure would stop him from continuing to climb. There was no other food source that you could freely eat nearby so you prayed that a man would fall into the water quickly.
The third day granted your wish.
When the sun had passed its zenith, you suddenly heard the sound of a dive. However, you were so tired that you opened your eyes only to make sure that this noise had been imagined by your hungry mind. What was your surprise when you saw a strange hairy animal in a cloud of scum a few dozen meters from you.
At first, perplexed, you didn't know what to do for a few seconds.
Was it real?
You quickly got your answer when the animal's pupils crossed yours and you saw its eyes widen. It immediately began to beat around with its little legs to return to the surface but, whatever it did, it seemed to be drawn towards the bottom.
You came out of your torpor.
If you had the opportunity to feed yourself without having to kill a human, you would take it without hesitation.
So you immediately rushed towards the strange animal. It didn't take more than a split second for you to feel your fangs and claws come out, causing much terror in your prey when it noticed them. As you crossed half the distance separating you, another plume of scum formed just behind the creature.
A green-haired man came out with several swords on his belt.
The furry animal slowly lost consciousness and its last bubbles of air escaped from its mouth but, unfortunately, you realized that the steel eyes of the swordsman were directly drawn towards you. Under your desperate gaze, you watched helplessly as he lifted your prey with one hand before throwing it towards the surface.
You couldn't help but follow your easy meal with your eyes as it escaped from the sea and, for a few seconds, you remained observing the surface from which it had emerged in the hope of seeing it fall again.
But it didn't fall back.
You were abruptly brought back to reality by an unusual current that caressed your cheeks. Fangs and claws slowly retracting, you then looked down to find yourself with the green-haired man who was only a meter away from you with his sword drawn in an attack.
You only owe your salvation to your greater ease in the water.
You managed to narrowly avoid his blades and move several meters away but, far from being saved, you saw him return to the charge. Everything happened very quickly. Adrenaline had replaced the fatigue in your veins and given you an unparalleled boost to push you away from your opponent.
Unfortunately, unlike the little animal and the other sailors you pulled underwater before, this one didn't seem to lose his breath. And he looked way too dexterous for you to be able to grab him and drown him like the others.
Finally, as he passed much closer to you this time, you had to deflect his attack. You placed one of your hands against his armed forearm in order to push him but, because your claws were longer than your usual nails, you brushed him.
And that simple contact was enough for his skin to tear.
It was only damaged a few centimeters in length and barely a few millimeters in depth—you didn't even feel the resistance of the skin against the edge—but it was enough. Under your frightened eyes, you could only observe horrified the fine reddish net that escaped from his epidermis to diffuse into the liquid that surrounded you. The metallic smell that accompanied it then assaulted your nose.
Immediately, you felt your heart suddenly accelerate to beat in your ears while a lump formed in your throat.
A hoarse and powerful cry echoed from the depths.
The water almost began to vibrate with the sound and, as the smell of blood grew in your nostrils, you began to feel the currents moving around you. The scream turned into a low, bone-chilling growl that rang like a threat in your ears. The waves beneath your tail began to ripple. Something huge was coming up from the profundity.
Quickly.
Totally terrified, you completely forgot about the green-haired man and looked down. You saw a huge, dark mass snaking in your direction with eyes black like the deepest depths of the ocean. The moment the thing saw you, its growl transformed into a menacing scream again.
You were the intruder on its territory.
You immediately went as far away as possible. You left the man, the animal and the boat behind and focused solely on your escape so as not to find yourself caught in the jaws of the Sea King who was ruling this territory.
A group of merfolk can rival any of them.
Alone, however, it would be suicide.
So you escaped as quickly as possible without looking back.
You suppose the pirates must have defeated the monster because that night you heard two Sea Kings fighting from sunset until sunrise. The entire sea for hundreds of kilometers around heard their wild roar, making the waters tremble, while the repercussions of their colliding bodies were heard by all the marine beings around. The blows of teeth, of jaws snapping, of skin tearing. Then finally came the groans of pain and agony before finally ending in the early morning with mortuary silence. The only reason for this fight was that one Sea King had died and two others had fought to the death to reclaim its territory. And one of them obviously won.
Curled up behind your reef, you let yourself float again as discreetly as possible so as not to be noticed.
Hunger was now hurting you so much that you had the impression that your body was digesting itself to make up for the lack. Your whole knotted and painful stomach ached as you felt your strength abandon you like a flame that was slowly going out.
You just wanted to go home.
Never mind the bullying and mockery you received from the other members of your tribe. You would no longer challenge their jokes about your ugliness, compared to others, and which shamed your species. You wouldn't answer anymore. You would no longer do anything to contradict them. You would accept again without flinching if it would allow you to reintegrate your clan. If it could allow you to no longer live alone, excluded and hungry. Condemned to live your days in boredom and your nights killing humans instead of being able to enjoy beautiful Sea King meat or well-cooked fish.
Despite everything, the shadow of a boat passed over you once again.
Exhausted, you nevertheless used your last strength to push yourself back towards the surface. On the way, your vision began to turn black but you continued to climb. You realized quite quickly when you put your head above the water that you were facing the same boat as the previous days. That same pirate flag with that stupid yellow hat.
Yet, instead of finding yourself facing the void as you had expected—or the strange animal from yesterday—you came face to face with a blond man who was smoking over the railing.
Hearing no other noise on the bridge, you took your chance.
“Good morning, my handsome pirate.” you whispered from the sea.
The man didn't respond, his eyes frozen on you, while the ash from the end of his cigarette burned until it ended up in the sea. He remained leaning in his black suit, his face empty of any expression.
"Hello?" you asked, trying to hide your self-doubt.
Did he see you?
He was a very handsome man—even you could recognize that—so maybe he had already met people prettier than you?
You internally panicked more and more.
You were so frustrated that you could have cried.
But the man's face suddenly changed from an unreadable expression to a beaming face with a smile eating his face. The cigarette was completely forgotten, and he bent his body over the hull to get a closer look at you.
"Oh my God!" he exclaimed happily. “Excuse my rudeness, you are my first merfolk and I have never seen such a beautiful creature!”
You were destabilized by his sudden excitement but, hunger above all else, you did your best not to show anything.
“Thank you, handsome, but I feel a little lonely down here." you continued as the man stared at you while devouring you with his eyes. “Wouldn’t you like to join me and ke-”
The growl of your stomach cut you off from your sentence.
Embarrassed, you felt your cheeks heat up on your face and you couldn't help but look down at the waves again as you uselessly covered your stomach with your arms. Now that the spell was broken, you were ready to go back and let yourself die in the shallows and yet, as you were going to dive again, you were suddenly stopped by the man.
"Wait!" he screamed almost desperately, bending over the railing even more and holding one of his hands out towards you. For a few seconds, you even saw him capsize, uncertainly, on his perch. "I'm coming, don't leave! Please!"
Then, before you could make a move, he landed on his feet and disappeared from your sight.
You hesitated for a few seconds between leaving—for fear that someone else on board had heard his scream—or staying. In the end you choose to stay because you had nothing to lose anyway.
And the blond ended up reappearing through the hull of the boat when it opened at the huge number "1" painted on the side.
You walked carefully on your side while he also approached the edge of the pontoon. A pleasant smoke reached your nose. Your stomach growled even more but, obsessed by his footsteps getting closer, you no longer paid attention to it. The closer you got, the more the tantalizing smell numbed your mind.
Saliva came into your mouth.
Your fangs began to lengthen.
Only your claws did not extend thanks to your efforts.
As you finished at the bottom of the dock where he was, you saw him bend down towards you, smiling with one of his hands behind his back while the other fell above your face.
You smiled in the most charming way you could without having to unseal your lips then, slowly, you lifted one of your hands from the water in order to touch his fingers with yours. You noticed his gaze following the path of your hand, captivated. Once you had brushed him, you began to gently move your fingers towards his hand and then towards his wrist covered by the sleeve of his shirt. You delicately wrapped his joint in your palm while discreetly passing your index finger under his cuff to caress his covered skin. Under your fingers you felt the goosebumps that covered his forearm just like his pulse was pulsing rapidly in the crook of his wrist. His skin felt hot against yours.
Perfect.
You mentally prepared yourself to suddenly pull his arm towards you, causing him to fall into the water, but he moved before you could do so.
He took his arm, still hidden, from behind his back to show off the large plate of food he had been holding until then.
You saw a full plate of rice and meat appear before your astonished eyes, still hot and smoking magnificently against the light porcelain. Stunned, your stomach started growling again but you were unable to move or even react. Instead, you stayed looking at the food while hanging on to the blonde's wrist.
"I couldn't possibly let someone as beautiful as you go hungry." You almost heard him singing above you.
Yet you didn't pay a single ounce of attention to what he was doing and, as if you had just been electrocuted, you finally realized that you had food in front of you. At hand. Without having to kill anyone.
Without waiting another second, you threw yourself on the dish.
You ate without worrying about still appearing beautiful or desirable in the eyes of the man. You instead took the food in large handfuls before shoving them into your mouth in a hurry. The rice stuck to your hands slightly but you didn't care as it landed almost directly in your ravenous mouth before sliding down your esophagus. It was hot and sticky, warming you from the inside out to fill the gap. Your claws were fully deployed when you reached the meat, mercilessly impaling it to bring it to your mouth. You didn't even care about your appearance anymore and you revealed your sharp teeth without the slightest embarrassment. So you had no problem shredding the food into pieces.
Once the plate was empty much to your dismay, you suddenly remembered that you were not alone.
You looked up at the one who had fed you.
He was quietly smoking a cigarette - which you hadn't even noticed him lighting - while staring at you intensely from the same place as before. A satisfied smile was plastered on his lips as he moved even closer to you, sitting cross-legged right in front of your face.
You then noticed that he was indeed very handsome and that, above all, you didn't really know what to say to break the silence. Your plan had been to kill him and he had brought you a delicious meal. But you couldn't see yourself leaving now without saying anything.
“Glad I could help, beautiful.” he began with a smile. "I don't understand how such a wonderful creature could be alone in the middle of such a big ocean."
You stepped back a little from the walkway and, keeping your eyes fixed on him, you noticed that he unconsciously leaned towards you as you stepped back. Then you saw his gaze carefully detail your eyes before gradually descending to the bottom of your face and your bust which was adorned with rivers of pearls that caught the glow of the sun under the water. His pupils then returned to drown in yours.
“I guess I’m a loner.” You then responded vaguely, not wanting to admit to this stranger that you had been abandoned by your clan.
"They must be crazy not to make more of an effort to approach you then." he declared while exhaling a cloud of smoke. "I'm Sanji, the crew's cook. At your service."
His position so forward gave rise to doubt in your mind. He didn't seem like an idiot. So he must have suspected that you tried to lure him into the water earlier, right?
Faced with your lack of response, he continued.
“And you have a name?” he asked with interest. “Not that I mind continuing to call you beautiful.”
You then opened your mouth to tell him your name since it wouldn't cost anything after all and he had been kind enough to feed you. But you stopped in your sentence when you saw movement behind the blond pirate.
From the darkness, you noticed the swordsman from the day before who walked yawning with his swords still at his belt. He also noticed you and immediately placed his hand on the hilt of his weapons to draw them.
“You damn fish!” he yelled. "Get out of there, Shitty Cook! It'll get you!"
Panicked, you dove headlong into the water before running away from this boat as quickly as possible. As you did so, you didn’t turn around once.
So you didn't notice Sanji who tried to call you to hold you back before, when he realized that you weren't going to come back, throwing himself at Zoro for making you run away.
Although you moved further away, you nevertheless stayed close enough to the ship to keep an eye on it.
This man was kind enough to make you a meal so maybe you could have some more. It was with this hope that you remained lurking in the waters for the rest of the day, observing the bottom of the hull to be sure not to lose it. You knew it was stupid in itself to look at him every minute since you were in the middle of the sea and you would see him—and catch him—from miles around but you couldn't help it.
Maybe you wouldn't have to hunt your own food anymore. Maybe you wouldn't have to catch poor innocent people and drown them with fear in your stomach that they'd start bleeding and you'd be attacked by a Sea King. You would no longer have to eat their cold meat to finally have something in your stomach.
Night finally fell and, under the cover of darkness, you once again emerged your head from the waves.
The lights were on on the boat but everyone seemed to be inside the building. Relieved that no one could see you, you released the breath you had been holding until then. You then began to lazily turn around the hull, quietly on your back, to enjoy the waves that danced under your body and the moonbeams that illuminated it from above.
However, you were intrigued by the smell of food that reached your nostrils when you approached the stern of the ship.
Intrigued, you then inspected the sea around you.
And there, about ten meters at the back of the boat, pulled by a rope attached to the railing, you saw a buoy. It floated calmly among the waves without overturning. You approached it with curiosity and, while the delicious smell grew stronger as you approached, you saw that it served as a support for a beautifully garnished plate. There were rice balls, fish, vegetables and seaweed that you had never seen before. All with a smell that already made you salivate in anticipation.
But what struck you the most was the handwritten note that accompanied it.
For my beautiful mermaid - Sanji
You began to eat what was in the buoy but more calmly than during the day. You took your time savoring the tastes that exploded in your mouth and the textures that melted on your tongue. You could say what you wanted about this cook but he was definitely very talented.
You reached the end of your meal and a dilemma arose.
What were you going to do?
Indeed, if he saw that the buoy had been emptied, he would know that you were following them without being noticed.
For a second, you hesitated to cut the rope to let the inflatable object get lost in the immensity of the sea while hoping he would think it might be an accident. A rock that is too sharp or a marine animal that has swallowed part of the rope with the meal. But you couldn't bring yourself to make him lose the float. What if he needed it? You weren't going to repay him by destroying his property.
So you decided to simply turn the buoy over to make it appear that the waves had turned it upside down and that the meals were lost in the water. You just took the dishes with you so as not to abandon them.
It wasn't much research but it was better than nothing.
For the message, however, you retrieved it and walked around the hull with it. You finally found a board—low enough for you to reach but still high enough to be sheltered from the waves—with a splinter large enough to hold the paper. You pushed it in and then left again.
The rest of the night was quiet.
The next day was also the same. By the time you woke up, the float had already disappeared from the surface of the water so you continued on your way following the ship. Along the way, you found an old cloth floating in the currents from the coral reef where it was trapped. So you retrieved it to put the dishes in it before closing it and attaching it to your wrist.
So, night after night, you returned to the surface to always find the same buoy with a different message.
I still don't have your name, love. - Sanji
Are there any foods you like, sweetheart? - Sanji
Will I ever get to see you again, beautiful? - Sanji
Finally, the days passed but you continued to spend your days sheltered in the water.
You really appreciated the blonde's actions, and his cooking was exceptional, yet you remained hidden out of fear. You didn't really know him and the change worried you. What if he saw you again and finally realized that you weren't that beautiful and stopped cooking meals for you?
That you weren't as gorgeous as he thought if he looked closely at you?
That you didn't deserve him to spend his energy on someone like you?
But everything collapsed a few weeks later.
You were swimming lazily as usual when you heard the sound of a dive explode in your ears. Surprised, you turned toward the source of the sound. You found yourself eye-to-eye with a black-haired boy who was looking at you and smiling with his yellow hat around his neck. Under your amazed gaze, he waved his hand to you.
Then, without you being able to react yet, you watched him let himself move until he gently closed his eyes. His body began to jerk in all directions because of the spasms caused by the lack of oxygen.
You waited during the entire time he was suffocating but no one dove in to rescue him.
His body thus stopped moving and his last air bubbles escaped from his lungs to reach the surface while his body sank into the depths.
You then set yourself in motion.
You swam towards him at full speed before grabbing him by the underside of his armpits and swimming to the surface. When you emerged, you were careful to bring the boy's head out of the water. You were about to shout to alert them to your presence and that of the drowned man but, before you could make the slightest sound, you noticed the many pairs of eyes scrutinizing you attentively.
A little less than ten people were leaning on their elbows to observe you.
Among them, you recognized Sanji and the strange animal from the first days.
The green-haired man was nowhere to be seen but he must have been close if you trust the screams of "Untie me, Shitty Cook!" that you heard in the background.
An arms ladder suddenly appeared on the wooded surface of the boat and the one closest to you grabbed the young man in your arms to pull him back up the chain. When he arrived on the deck, everyone who had been sizing you up until then turned away from you to worry about him.
All except Sanji who didn't take his eyes off you for a second.
Hypnotized, you could only tear your eyes away from him when noises sounded behind him.
“I told you that I saw the one Sanji was talking about!” exclaimed a voice before starting to laugh. You then noticed the previous dark-haired boy walking next to the cook and waving again."Hi, Fishy! I'm Monkey D. Luffy and I will be the King of the Pirates!"
You stood looking at him, shocked.
“Meal will be served in five minutes.” Sanji then announced, still looking at you intensely. “Are you joining us this time?”
A flash of you on your legs in the middle of that boat flashed before your eyes. You imagined yourself surrounded by all these people—who were back near the railing—and who were, without any hesitation, much more comfortable running than you. In unfamiliar terrain, escaping would be impossible.
So you refused as politely as you could.
Immediately, you saw the blonde's smile fade at the edges while his eyes lost their mischief. You felt a little sad when you saw him become disillusioned but you remained firmly in your position. You really weren't confident enough to get on this ship.
"See you tonight then." he declared before turning and leaving, quickly followed by the rest of his companions.
And indeed, when you came up from the waves that evening for your usual meal, you immediately noticed that you had more presence than usual.
Sanji was waiting for you in the water near the buoy.
He was swimming calmly around the boat in slow movements which exposed his bare back to the last rays of the sun. You stayed to observe him for a few moments with curiosity. You had tried to kill him when you first met and now he was taking a dip while knowing you were going to arrive any minute. And if you wanted, you could drown him in seconds.
You thought, surprisingly, with affection that he must be a little weird.
He stopped swimming laps as soon as he noticed you near the hull. He came towards you until you both joined at the buoy where the meal was much larger than before. And with two plates and two sets of cutlery. He took the opportunity to push his soaked hair back before leaning against the floating object. Absent-mindedly, you followed the path of the drops of water that fell from his hair before rolling down his skin to the sea.
When you looked up at him, he was already watching you with a smirk.
"What are you doing here?" you asked, not too happy to have been caught ogling him.
His smile deepens.
“A meal is best enjoyed in charming company.” he declared. “So I thought we could enjoy it together.”
And he immediately grabbed one of the forks to hand it to you. The second you took your first bite, he started his meal as well. He spent the whole evening by your side chatting in the water. The sun thus finished its course while you were talking, and the moon began its own. The light of the planet and the stars reflected on his skin and hair and gave him a more ghostly appearance.
But you nevertheless took pity on him the moment you realized that his previously pink lips turned purple while his body began to tremble from the shivers.
He refused at first to leave you but he finally gave in when the shivers became uncontrollable.
From then on, you found him every evening to eat together.
He was already in the water before you arrived and he always extended his stay with you for as long as possible. In the meantime, you talked a lot over your meals.
He thus discovered your name—even if he often continued to call you by nicknames—and even where you had hidden all his little notes. You had assumed that evening that it was going to be long when you surprised him near your hiding place with the papers in his hands. Then he turned back to you with a smile and an expression that you knew you were going to hear about for days. And it didn't fail.
Unfortunately, your routine was turned upside down again.
One evening, while you were eating quietly while chatting, you heard an unknown woman's voice ring out next to you.
"Sanji-kun, Luffy-kun is getting too close to the kitchen."
You immediately jumped, looking for where the sound was coming from. You noticed the strange mouth on your buoy as you looked down. Under the influence of surprise and fear, you took out your claws on one of your hands to scratch the lips on the plastic. However, you only cut the mouth and, above all, you pierced the surface that held the air of the inflatable object.
The dishes, the buoy and the mouth were then submerged in the water.
You immediately realized that you had overreacted, so you dove in to retrieve the plates and cutlery before they completely sank. But when you were also completely immersed in the sea, the smell of blood immediately invaded your nose.
The mouth had evaporated but the blood had remained.
This time, you didn't even hear the roar of the Sea King because you saw it come up at full speed under you. Terrified, you had a thought for Sanji who would never be fast enough to return to the boat by himself. You unhooked your irises from the blood red and angry ones of the animal and you grabbed the blond's arm to hurry to get closer to the ship.
You finally managed to reach the pontoon for him and then, as he placed his second foot out of the water, an excruciating pain shot up from the tip of your tail fin to your spine in an excruciating electric shock. Your fin then began to burn and, without you—or Sanji—being able to react, you were suddenly pulled underwater.
You made the mistake of looking down.
The monster had planted its immense, sharp teeth in half of one of your two fins, which had then disappeared into its mouth, and was now pulling you towards the depths. The membrane there was so thin and translucent compared to the rest of your tail that you felt it tear little by little as you got pushed deeper. Unable to fight against the force that was dragging you towards the bottom, your tail continued to split apart with abominable slowness. Finally, as the pain became more and more unbearable, your vision suddenly turned black.
Tumblr media
As soon as you opened your eyelids, you noticed that you were no longer in the water.
Your skin was dry and rough as you lay on a hard surface with a soft pile under your head. The only positive point was that, although the weight covering you made you uncomfortable, it also felt like a warm and soft cocoon that was extremely pleasant. You've never felt anything like this in the water.
Yet you were cut off from your thoughts when you heard a squeal in one of your ears.
Intrigued and still a little groggy from the mists of sleep, you turned your head towards the origin of the sound only to find the strange, hairy animal from the first days. He was poorly hidden behind one of the legs of the desk and you could see each side of his body sticking out. You had learned from Sanji that his name was Chopper and that he was their doctor but you still stood there staring at him for a moment without knowing what to say.
"Hi?" You tried to break the awkward eye contact between you.
That didn't help anything, though, as he rushed out the door and ran out onto the deck, crying.
“Sanjiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!” You heard it scream in his nasal voice.
It didn't take long for the sounds of footsteps to echo against the wood of the boat and the door to swing open to reveal the breathless blond. You were still wrapped in your cocoon of warmth and you watched him approach you before sitting on the edge of your bed.
“You scared the hell out of me!” He declared while catching his breath while looking at you.
“I think I scared the hell out of your doctor, too.” You replied as the discomfort of being vulnerable took hold again.
The delicate touch of the sheets against your bare legs sounded like an alarm in your head. If one of them decided to chase you, you would have no chance of escaping them. However, you tried to move them and, to your great relief, you managed to mobilize even the smallest toes. The pain was there but you could still move. Your legs being the projection of your tail, your fin shouldn't have been too damaged if you could move your toes.
A shiver still ran down your spine when you saw the monster again with its teeth planted in your flesh and the pain that accompanied it.
A slight laugh escaped Sanji's lips.
"I think it has more to do with the fact that you tried to eat him." He sneered.
You sighed at the only memories you had of the animal. You remembered his panicked eyes when he saw you roaming around, then his terrified ones at the sight of your fangs and claws as you rushed towards him. While it was also sinking.
“Yeah,” you nodded. “It wasn’t the best meeting.”
He also huffed a laugh.
“He’s the one who took care of you, so don't put him on a skewer.” He had fun.
"I will think about it." You retorted, smiling.
Suddenly, you heard your stomach rumble and you buried your head back into the soft mass. A slight aroma of food went up your nose and started to make you salivate despite the embarrassment. The blond laughed at your stomach.
And he took out from behind him a plate containing, among other things, Sea King meat.
“Straight from the sea,” he announced to you proudly. “It was caught last night.”
“It’s the…” you started, not knowing how to finish your sentence.
He nodded.
"We don't really fear these animals here and, with the glutton we have on board, it's better to have good reserves of meat."
So you picked up the plate and enjoyed your meal like you had never enjoyed it before. Then, when there was no longer a crumb left in your dish, you removed the sheet from your body in order to come out of your cocoon and sit next to him.
You saw when you placed your feet on the ground that one of them was bandaged from your toes to your knee. You only noticed afterwards that you were only in an oversized t-shirt and shorts that showed off your legs.
You noted out of the corner of your eye that Sanji's gaze roamed freely over all your exposed skin but he didn't ask any questions.
He only reacted when you tried to get up.
Immediately, he gently pushed you back against the bed as the doctor's voice was heard near the door.
“You can’t get up.” Ordered the animal in a trembling voice. “You’re going to reopen your stitches!”
However, he squealed and half-hid behind the door as soon as you turned your eyes towards him.
“It's the doctor's order!” declared the cook to lighten the mood. “It’s just for a few days.”
You tried to resist a little but, as you stood up on your good foot to leave, you were held back by the hand. Looking behind you, you saw that Sanji had tangled his fingers with yours and refused to let go of you. He looked at you a little sadly, still sitting on the bed with your hands intertwined between you.
"Please?" he asked almost pitifully. "At least until your stitches are properly healed? I really don't want you to go back in the water and hurt yourself even more. So, please?"
And you accepted.
You spent your next few days on the boat and, little by little, you were accepted by the crew.
At the very beginning, you planned to simply stay in the infirmary with Sanji but, quickly, you had a visit from the captain who absolutely wanted to talk to you. Then you met the strange living skeleton who came to play a violin tune for you and finally you met the crew's cyborg. They were all extremely funny and the fact that they were talking to you so informally warmed your heart.
That didn't stop you from feeling a little neglected every time the blond left you to go do his chores or prepare meals. Even though you knew he always came back as soon as possible, the empty feeling in your stomach was felt every time. Sadness filled you as he left.
Every minute he spent by your side was wonderful.
You found out more about how fun and caring he was towards you and the rest of his crew. Moreover, his flirting, which hadn't really affected you until then, gradually began to have more of an effect.
With each compliment, you felt yourself smiling like an idiot.
Every time you saw him join you out of breath, you felt flattered.
Every time you noticed him devouring you with his eyes, you were proud.
So, when Chopper, with whom you had made a truce by teaching him the medicinal properties of certain algae that your former clan had taught you, told you that your sutures were healed enough, you still melted in front of Sanji's smile when he suggested you stay longer.
You then met Robin, to whom you apologized when you learned that the mouth belonged to her that evening. And also Usopp who greeted you from afar. Nami was hard to convince but, thanks to the information from the rest of the crew, you gave her the pearls that you used to wear and she immediately accepted you as one of them. Only Zoro continued to scare you a little, even if the blond was behind you during each of your interactions to reassure you. Eventually, you also ended up getting used to his presence as much as he got used to yours.
You were invited again to have a meal with them.
It was loud and chaotic but, after so much time alone, it warmed your heart. You really felt like you were in front of a real family, you thought wistfully. You imagined for a split second that you belonged to this family and you liked the image.
Yet you reminded yourself that you were still just an outsider in their dynamic.
The thought felt like someone had ripped your heart out of your chest before crushing it mercilessly under their heel. They had references that you didn't know. They were talking about people you'd never met. They performed feats that were unknown to you. You weren't treated badly. You were just an intruder.
This had the effect that you tried to get closer to Sanji to cling to this perfect family.
You stayed like that for another week. Then two. Then three.
You were still sleeping in the infirmary but, instead of having the cook bring your meal to your room, he instead came to pick you up and accompany you to the dining room. He served you first and he came to see you as soon as you left the infirmary.
Gradually, you integrated more and more into the crew's codes and you were more sought after by the other crew members.
Unfortunately, the call of water was too strong.
So, one sunny day, you left your folded clothes on the boat and jumped overboard. An immense relief washed over you as soon as you were submerged again. The tightness in your legs finally stopped and the thirst you had been feeling for days faded as if it had never existed. The contact of the current against your skin and your scales was also welcomed like an old friend while your hair floated around your head like a jellyfish. And how light your body was!
You finally sighed in relief.
You then went back to the surface and joined Luffy and Usopp who were fishing near you.
When you saw them, you noticed Sanji standing over the railing and looking at the water in panic. His grip on the wood was so strong that, even from where you were, you could see his knuckles turning white. His blond hair fell in his eyes as he hurriedly scanned the waves.
Luffy was the first to spot you.
“Hey!” He began shaking his arm above his head. “You help us to fish?”
Usopp and Sanji turned their eyes towards you and, at the moment your pupils crossed, you observed Sanji suddenly relax. He gave you a pale smile, compared to the ones he normally offers you, and you especially noticed how he straightened up before loosening his grip on the railing.
"If you want." you laughed at his excitement. "What do you want?"
“The biggest one you can drag so far!” He shouted, moving his fishing rod from side to side.
So you dove underwater to begin your hunt.
And a few minutes later, you brought back a big fish that almost slipped through your fingers. It was gesticulating so much in all directions that you almost dropped it several times or hurt it—which is why you didn't want to chase them before because they were too big a risk for not much—but you held on. You controlled the extension of your claws as best you could and placed it on the captain's hook.
Immediately, you swam as quickly as possible towards the pontoon to get back on dry land. Your heart had been beating wildly since you approached the fish, and your breathing had hitched now that you had drawn the animal's blood onto the hook. You waited like this for several long minutes with a lump in your stomach and, finally, no Sea King appeared.
You still decided that it was enough for today and you went back on deck.
You were greeted there by Sanji who approached you.
“Nice to see you back on board.” He smiled before winking at you and continuing on his way to prepare the meal.
The next day, you found them a new fish.
And yet another the next day.
The cook was there all the time, from the moment you dived until the moment you set foot on deck again.
However, the next day again, you had difficulty finding prey. You didn't know if it was linked to the geographical area but you didn't find any prey to bring back to Luffy and Usopp's fishing rods. Not wanting to declare defeat, you looked further. Then deeper. Still nothing.
The pressure mounted.
You knew in yourself that you owed them nothing and that they didn't expect so much from you but, after a few days of seeing their smiles at your discoveries, you felt the fear rising. What if they were disappointed? You had found a way to make them appreciate you so, if you didn't find something to bring back to them, would you lower in their esteem? Would they love you less?
Fear made your heart beat faster as you began to search more and more desperately.
But still, nothing.
You chased away with the anguish knotting your stomach.
You end up flushing out a small fish that was hiding behind a reef. You immediately lunged at it and grabbed it in a tight grab before propelling yourself towards the surface. You were a little ashamed to have taken all this time for this but it was probably better than nothing.
When you reached the ship and broke through the surface, you realized that there was no light at all in the sky.
It was completely dark.
Shocked, you froze for a few moments. You honestly didn't realize you'd spent that much time in the water, considering you'd left before the sun had reached its peak.
You didn't have time to get any closer to the hull when a diving sound was heard in the dark.
"You're back!" yelled a voice that you recognized as Franky's. "Guys-"
And you didn't hear the end because you noticed Sanji's hair only a few meters away from you, swimming at full speed in your direction. In less than a few seconds, he jumped on you. Surprised by the load, you sank momentarily before stabilizing and rising to the surface.
But, without you being able to say a single word, he kissed you.
It was far from the soft, teasing kiss you had imagined coming from Sanji. Instead, it was messy and rushed as if he feared you would disappear any second from his arms. He had his hands on your jaw, and he encircled your cold face in his burning palms as he assaulted your lips in desperation.
The kiss finally slows to a more tender embrace until he definitely leaves your lips. He didn't move away from you and instead took the opportunity to place his forehead against yours while keeping his hands around your face.
“I thought you left.” He whispered with difficulty. “I thought you wouldn’t come back.”
So you placed a kiss on his lips but, without you being able to go any further, you heard whistling coming from the ship.
You separated from the blond and took him with you towards the pontoon to get back on the boat under the laughter and mocking applause of the crew. You notably heard Sanji swear at Zoro when he made a remark.
You placed your foot on the grass of the deck in front of the entire Straw Hat crew and Luffy approached you with his eternal smile.
“Sanji was a little faster than me to ask but," He started laughing. "it’ll be fun if you stay with us. Wanna join our crew?”
And, still hand in hand with Sanji, you accepted.
You got a new clan.

Amari sits in her townhouse, her thoughts swirling as she absentmindedly stirs her drink. The past few days feel like a blur of emotions, decisions, and moments that are slowly becoming more complicated. She glances around the room, taking in the familiar surroundings of her space—the soft glow of the lights, the calm of the evening settling in. Yet, her mind keeps drifting back to Brendan and everything that’s unfolded between them.
The gift of the G-Wagon, the lingering moments of closeness, the kiss... it all feels like more than just a casual connection. She never imagined things would move so fast, especially when they had so much unspoken tension hanging between them. She thought she could keep things light, professional even, but now? It’s hard to ignore the pull between them.
She can’t help but smile at the memory of his easy grin when he handed her the key, his confidence and sincerity almost disarming. But with every action, with every gesture, she starts questioning where this all leads. He’s given her so much—more than she expected, more than she’s ready for. A part of her feels overwhelmed, another part feels grateful, and yet another part wonders if this is really what she wants.
Amari stands up and moves to the window, staring out at the quiet street. It’s a calm night, the city lights twinkling in the distance. She takes a deep breath, trying to clear her mind, but her thoughts are stubborn, always returning to Brendan. The way he looks at her, the way his touch feels, it’s undeniable. But does that mean she’s ready for more? Is she ready for the messier, deeper side of what they’re starting to build?
She turns back toward her couch, her eyes falling on the key sitting on the coffee table. It’s a symbol of his intentions—he’s not just giving her a car, he’s giving her something bigger, something more meaningful. It’s easy to feel torn when someone offers you everything, and yet, it feels like there’s so much she hasn’t figured out yet.
Her phone buzzes on the table, pulling her out of her thoughts. It’s a message from him: "Hope you’re good. Just wanted to check in."
Amari sighs, running a hand through her hair. She knows what she wants to say, but there’s a hesitation. What exactly does she want from this? What does she need? She could respond, keep it light, or she could dive deeper into what’s between them. It’s a choice she’s going to have to make sooner or later.
With another deep breath, she picks up her phone and starts typing.
The truth was, she had no idea where things were headed with Brendan. But the more she thought about it, the more she realized one thing: she couldn’t ignore the chemistry between them. She couldn’t pretend that his presence in her life didn’t make everything feel just a little bit more alive. But, she knew it was going to be a balancing act—between who she was, who he was, and the world they both occupied.
She glanced at her phone again. Another message from him popped up: "You still thinking about things? Or can I convince you to join me for dinner?"
She hesitated for a moment before typing back: "I’ll be there. But we need to talk."
She hit send, already knowing the conversation ahead wouldn’t be easy, but it was necessary.
Tumblr media
Amari stood outside the door to Brendan’s penthouse, a mix of anticipation and apprehension settling in her chest. She had been thinking about this conversation for hours, replaying her pros and cons list, trying to decide how best to approach the situation. One thing was clear—she wasn’t walking into this blindly. She wasn’t just some fleeting moment in his life. But as much as she wanted to hold her ground, there was a part of her that still yearned for the connection they had.
She took a deep breath and knocked.
The door swung open, revealing Brendan standing shirtless in the doorway, his toned frame illuminated by the soft light of the apartment. He flashed that easy, confident smile that always made her heart skip a beat. In his hands was a plate of food, and the rich aroma of the meal hit her instantly.
“Hey, Mari,” he greeted her, stepping aside to let her in. “Dinner’s ready. Hope you’re hungry.”
Amari stepped inside, the warmth of the room wrapping around her. She noticed the dim lights, the table set with candles, and the relaxed vibe of the space. Despite his casual appearance—shirtless, a pair of sweatpants hanging low on his hips—there was a certain charm to his laid-back demeanor.
She smiled weakly, but her mind was still on the conversation she needed to have. “You didn’t have to go all out,” she said, trying to keep her tone light, even though her heart was heavy with the weight of their unspoken issues.
He gave her a knowing look, his eyes soft but mischievous. “I didn’t think you’d mind,” he said as he moved to place the plate down on the coffee table. “Come on, let’s eat.”
Amari took a seat, her fingers brushing the edge of the plate before she glanced up at him. “We need to talk about us, Brendan.”
He paused, looking at her with an intensity that told her he was listening. His lips curled slightly, but there was something behind his expression—curiosity, concern, maybe even a hint of apprehension. He sat beside her, the space between them charged with tension. “Alright,” he said, his voice steady. “What’s on your mind?”
Amari took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts before speaking. “I’ve been thinking about everything. About us. About what we’re doing. I can’t pretend like things are just simple, like I’m not getting emotionally involved in something that feels... bigger than I expected.”
Brendan shifted slightly, leaning back as he gave her his full attention. “You’re not wrong. This thing between us—” He trailed off, seemingly weighing his words carefully. “I get it. It’s not just some fling for me either.”
She frowned, her gaze searching his face. “Then why does it feel like we’re both just caught up in something we don’t fully understand? Like you’re living this life that I’m not sure I’m ready for... or even if I can handle.”
Brendan’s expression softened, and he gently took her hand in his, his thumb brushing against her skin. “Mari, I get it. I know what I’m offering isn’t always... stable. My career, my life, it’s a rollercoaster, and I can’t promise that everything’s going to be perfect. But I’m not asking you to be a part of some mess. I just want you in my life. I want you with me. The rest, we can figure out.”
She looked down at their hands, her heart pounding in her chest. His words were sincere, but there was still so much uncertainty. She had questions that she needed answers to. “What happens when things get harder? When your schedule is even more chaotic? When the attention on you gets more intense? What happens when we can’t just turn everything off and pretend like we’re just two people having a good time?”
Brendan paused, the weight of her questions settling in the room. His voice was quieter when he spoke, but it held a sense of honesty that she couldn’t ignore. “I can’t promise that everything will be easy, Mari. But I can promise I won’t just walk away when it gets tough. You and me—we have something real. It might not be the easiest thing, but I want to try. Do you?”
She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she looked into his eyes, searching for the truth behind his words. What they had was undeniable—intense, passionate, and full of potential. But could she trust herself to navigate the complexity of their connection? Could she handle being in his world, knowing that it would never be simple?
Finally, she spoke, her voice soft but firm. “I’m willing to try. But I need to know you’re all in. That this isn’t just some phase, that you’re not going to disappear when things get difficult.”
Brendan nodded, his grip on her hand tightening just slightly. “I’m in, Mari. I’m all in. And I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it.”
The tension between them seemed to ease, the air feeling lighter as they both sat there, surrounded by the quiet hum of the apartment. The future was still uncertain, but for the first time in a long while, Amari felt like she had a clearer sense of where she stood.
With a small, tentative smile, she finally said, “Alright. Let’s figure this out together.”
Brendan smiled back, his relief palpable. “Together.”
As Amari smiled, her gaze met Brendan’s, and for a moment, it felt like time had slowed. His hazel eyes, warm and intense, seemed to search her face, as if he were looking for something—reassurance, perhaps, or confirmation that she truly meant what she had said. She could see the sincerity in his expression, the vulnerability in his eyes that mirrored her own.
The way he looked at her made her feel seen—really seen—in a way that was both comforting and terrifying. It was like he could read her thoughts, understand the conflict in her mind without her saying a word. For a brief moment, the weight of everything they’d talked about seemed to lift, replaced by something softer, something more genuine.
She swallowed the knot in her throat, her heart fluttering as she reached out and gently touched his arm. The warmth of his skin under her fingertips sent a spark through her, grounding her in the present.
“I don’t know where this will go,” she said, her voice quiet but steady. “But I want to try. To see where it takes us.”
Brendan’s smile widened, and he leaned closer, brushing his lips against her forehead in a tender kiss. “That’s all I need to hear, Mari.”
His kiss lingered for a moment longer, and she closed her eyes, allowing herself to bask in the comfort of his touch. In that instant, everything else—the confusion, the uncertainty—seemed to fade away, leaving only the connection they had built together.
She pulled back slightly, looking up at him with a mix of playfulness and vulnerability. “So, are we going to eat, or are we just going to stare at each other all night?” she teased, trying to lighten the mood, though her heart still raced in her chest.
Brendan chuckled, the sound low and warm, before reaching for the plate of food on the table. “We can stare at each other later,” he said, his voice teasing but affectionate. “Let’s eat first. Then we can figure out the rest.”
Amari smiled, her anxiety eased for the moment, as she settled back into the couch, feeling a sense of peace she hadn’t expected. She was here, with him, ready to take the next step—whatever that might be. And for now, that was enough.
Tumblr media
Later, as the evening settled into a quiet rhythm, Amari found herself sprawled out across Brendan’s chest, her head resting comfortably against him. The faint beat of his heart thumped softly under her ear, a reassuring sound that calmed her racing thoughts. The apartment was dimly lit, with only the soft glow from the city lights filtering in through the windows, casting shadows across the room.
Brendan’s arm was draped around her, his fingers lightly tracing patterns on her back, his touch slow and deliberate. It felt like the world outside was fading away, leaving only the two of them in this intimate, peaceful bubble.
She took a deep breath, breathing in the scent of his skin, the faint cologne he wore mixed with the smell of the food they’d shared earlier. The closeness, the softness of his touch, it made her feel both grounded and vulnerable in ways she hadn’t anticipated. She knew they had just begun to scratch the surface of whatever this was, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that this was more than just a fling.
Amari tilted her head to look up at him, catching his gaze. His hazel eyes were soft, almost sleepy, but there was something more—something unspoken between them that seemed to hang in the air.
“You know,” she began, her voice barely above a whisper, “I never really thought about what I wanted in all this... I was too focused on the fact that I shouldn’t want it.”
Brendan’s gaze softened, his hand gently running through her hair. “What do you mean?” he asked, his voice low and soothing.
Amari hesitated, her fingers playing with the hem of his shirt. “I mean, I spent so much time convincing myself that I should stay away from someone like you... That it would just be a mess. But now… I’m not so sure anymore.”
Brendan’s fingers stilled on her back, but his expression didn’t change. “And now?” he asked, his tone patient, as if waiting for her to find the words.
She looked up at him, her heart hammering in her chest. "Now, I think... I think I might be ready to stop running from it. From us." Her voice trembled slightly, but there was a quiet confidence behind her words. "I’m not saying it’ll be easy. I’m not saying I won’t second-guess myself at times. But maybe it’s time I stopped overthinking it.”
A soft smile tugged at Brendan’s lips as he leaned down, brushing his lips against her forehead. “I’m glad to hear that,” he said quietly. “Because I’m not going anywhere, Mari. I’m here. And I’ll be here when things get complicated, when the world starts pushing against us.”
Amari closed her eyes, his words sinking in, and for the first time in a long while, she felt a sense of certainty. Despite the chaos that life would inevitably throw their way, she knew she wasn’t alone in it anymore. They had something, and it was enough for now.
Brendan’s hand continued to run through her hair, his touch gentle, comforting. “Let’s just take this one step at a time,” he murmured. “We’ve got time, Mari. We’ve got time.”
She nodded against his chest, the warmth of his embrace wrapping around her like a shield. There was still so much they didn’t know, so much uncertainty in the future. But for tonight, as she lay there in his arms, everything felt exactly where it needed to be.
Amari shifted slightly, her movements slow and deliberate as she adjusted herself, now straddling Brendan. The change in position brought them even closer, her knees resting on either side of his hips. She could feel the warmth of his body beneath her, the steady rise and fall of his chest with each breath.
Brendan looked up at her, a mix of surprise and something deeper flickering in his hazel eyes. His hands instinctively moved to rest on her hips, a touch that was both grounding and possessive. There was a quiet tension in the air now, a shift in energy that pulsed between them.
Amari paused, her gaze meeting his, searching for something—confirmation, perhaps, or a sense of clarity. She was still feeling the weight of their conversation, the admission of vulnerability that had passed between them, but there was something undeniable about the chemistry that sparked whenever they were this close.
“You sure about this?” Brendan’s voice was low, almost a whisper, his hands gently brushing against her skin. His eyes held a mixture of curiosity and care, making sure she wasn’t just acting on impulse.
She nodded slowly, the quiet confidence she’d felt earlier now solidifying in her chest. “Yeah,” she whispered back, her voice thick with intent. “I’m sure.”
Without waiting for further confirmation, she leaned down, pressing her lips to his in a kiss that was gentle at first, as if testing the waters. But as they both deepened the kiss, the tension from earlier seemed to dissolve, replaced by a sense of urgency, a shared understanding that neither of them wanted to pull away just yet.
Her hands roamed to his chest, feeling the muscles beneath his skin, and his fingers tightened around her waist, guiding her movements. The energy between them shifted again—this time, it was as though the world outside had disappeared entirely, leaving only the two of them in this charged space.
She pulled back just slightly, her lips brushing against his, a soft exhale escaping her as she whispered, “I don’t want to hold back anymore, B.”
Brendan’s gaze darkened slightly, his breath shaky as he nodded, his hands running up her back, pulling her closer. “Then don’t,” he murmured, his lips capturing hers once more, this time with more intensity, more hunger.
The air between them grew thick with desire, each touch, each kiss, an exploration of unspoken emotions, a bridge between uncertainty and something real—something they both knew they couldn’t ignore.
Brendan’s expression softened at Amari’s words, the weight of her trust settling over him like a heavy, but welcome, responsibility. His hands gently cupped her face, his thumb brushing over her cheek as he met her gaze. There was no rush in the way he looked at her, just a quiet understanding and respect.
“I don’t take that lightly,” he said softly, his voice low but full of sincerity. “You mean more to me than you realize, Mari. I won’t do anything you don’t want, and I’ll make sure you’re comfortable with every step.”
Amari could feel the warmth of his words, the reassurance in the way he held her. In that moment, she realized that this wasn’t just about the physical. It was about connection, about trust, about the depth of what they were starting to build together.
She nodded, her heart steadying as she smiled down at him. “I know. I’m not afraid with you.”
Brendan smiled back, his hand moving to the small of her back to pull her in closer. “Good,” he whispered, brushing his lips against hers once more, as if sealing the promise they had just made. There was a mutual understanding now—this wasn’t just about the moment, but about the trust they were giving each other, the respect they would continue to show.
They were both learning and growing in this, but for now, all that mattered was the quiet connection they shared, the honesty of the moment, and the warmth of knowing they were both choosing to take this next step together.

As Amari smiled, the soft warmth of the morning light still casting its glow across the room, she shifted, leaning into Brendan’s chest. He stirred slightly at the motion, but didn’t fully wake, his arm instinctively pulling her closer as she nestled herself under him. She felt safe and content, the steady rhythm of his heartbeat soothing in the quiet morning.
She closed her eyes for a moment, savoring the feeling of being wrapped in his arms, the connection they shared growing deeper with each passing day. There was a sense of calm between them, a peaceful reassurance that even though the world outside could be chaotic, here, in this space, they were just two people learning to trust and understand each other.
Brendan shifted slightly, his voice low and groggy as he mumbled, “You good?”
Amari smiled, her fingers lightly tracing the tattoos on his arm as she nodded, her body still relaxed against his. “Yeah,” she whispered, her voice soft. “I’m good. Better than good.”
He hummed in response, tightening his embrace, his lips pressing gently to her forehead in a silent gesture of affection. For a moment, there were no words, just the comfort of shared presence, both of them content to stay like this a little longer, wrapped in each other’s warmth.
It wasn’t just the emotional connection that made her smile—it was the understanding that they were building something real, something that went beyond the surface. And in that moment, with the quiet of the morning surrounding them, she felt more certain than ever that this was exactly where she was meant to be.
Amari watched as Brendan moved around the room, his energy a stark contrast to the stillness of the morning. She smiled softly, her eyes following the way his muscles flexed as he searched through his drawers. There was something about the way he carried himself, effortlessly confident yet grounded, that drew her in even more.
She wrapped the covers around her waist tighter, feeling the warmth of the fabric against her skin as she sat up in bed. Her thoughts lingered on the moments they’d shared last night, and the quiet morning they were now experiencing together. It felt surreal in the best way—like they were in a bubble that no one could touch.
Brendan glanced over his shoulder at her, catching her watching him. His lips curled into a playful grin, and he shrugged casually. “You look comfy there,” he said, his voice teasing but soft.
Amari couldn’t help but laugh softly, the sound light and carefree. “I was just enjoying the view,” she replied, her gaze lingering on him, unabashedly appreciating how relaxed he seemed.
He chuckled, his eyes warming as he returned to his search. “I’m looking for my wallet,” he explained, pulling open another drawer.
Amari leaned back against the headboard, feeling a contentedness she hadn’t experienced in a while. She hadn’t expected to wake up like this, not so peaceful, not so sure about what came next. But as Brendan moved around the room, she realized that things didn’t always have to be figured out right away. They could just exist in the moment, and that was enough for now.
When he finally found what he was looking for, he turned back to her, a slight smirk playing on his lips. “You sure you don’t want to get dressed before I take you out for breakfast?” he asked, raising an eyebrow as he noticed the way the covers pooled around her.
Amari rolled her eyes playfully. “Only if you’re paying,” she teased, her tone light.
Brendan grinned, his eyes softening. “Of course. Just don’t take too long,” he said, as he began to head for the door. “I’m starving.”
As he left the room, Amari leaned back, still feeling the warmth of his presence lingering in the air. There was something effortlessly comfortable about him, and for the first time in a while, she felt like maybe—just maybe—things were falling into place.

Brendan paused, a grin tugging at the corner of his lips as he looked at her. His gaze softened as he settled in closer, but there was a hint of mischief in his eyes. “Mushy?” he repeated, his voice low, teasing. “I’m just trying to show you how much I appreciate you, Mari.”
Amari raised an eyebrow, her smile widening as she pushed him playfully off of her. “Uh-huh. Appreciation, huh?” she said, rolling her eyes but still laughing lightly. “You don’t get to just turn it on and off like that, B. I already told you. We’re not doing this whole push-and-pull thing.”
Brendan chuckled, his eyes never leaving hers. He sat back, taking a moment to adjust himself, his playful expression melting into something more genuine. “Alright, alright,” he said, his tone softer. “I hear you. No more trying to be all sweet and cuddly if it’s gonna make you roll your eyes at me.”
She smiled, her arms crossing over her chest, but there was a certain softness in her gaze that wasn’t lost on him. “You’re not bad when you’re not being all dramatic,” she teased, nudging him with her shoulder.
“Hey,” he said, feigning offense. “I’m not dramatic. I’m just—” He cut himself off, leaning forward to kiss her forehead. “—just trying to be here with you. And, yeah, maybe it’s a little different for me. But I can’t help it.”
Amari's expression softened at his words, and for a brief moment, the playful teasing gave way to something deeper. She could see the sincerity in his eyes, the vulnerability that he was letting slip through, even if he wasn’t always great at showing it.
“You don’t have to try so hard, B,” she said quietly, reaching up to touch his face. “You’ve got me already.”
The room fell into a brief silence, the air between them filled with unspoken understanding. There were no walls up now—just the two of them, navigating this complicated thing they were building together. It wasn’t perfect, and it wasn’t easy, but it felt real. And for now, that was enough.
As Amari kissed him, her hands slid to the back of his neck, pulling him closer, a quiet yet powerful shift in the energy between them. The playful teasing melted into something more tender, more grounded, as their lips met with a deeper connection than before.
Brendan responded instinctively, his arms wrapping around her waist as he leaned into the kiss, his chest pressing against hers. There was no rush, no urgency—just the softness of the moment, both of them savoring the intimacy, feeling the warmth of each other's presence.
When they finally broke the kiss, their foreheads rested together, breaths mingling in the quiet space between them. Amari smiled, her fingers gently tracing his jawline as she met his gaze. "You know, you're not so bad when you're not being all dramatic," she teased softly, her voice laced with affection.
Brendan let out a quiet laugh, his hand brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I guess you’ve got me figured out, huh?" he replied, his tone light but his eyes filled with sincerity.
Amari shrugged, still smiling. "Not fully," she said with a playful gleam in her eye, "but I’m working on it." She leaned in for another soft kiss, this time lingering just a little longer, letting the kiss speak for everything they hadn’t said out loud.
It was moments like this that reminded her—there was something real here, something that didn’t need to be defined right away. She wasn’t sure where things were going, but for now, she was okay with letting them unfold naturally.
“Now I can say the Mid Sized Sedan is my boyfriend.” She says holding back a laugh. He gives her a fake hurt look.
Amari laughed, a soft sound that bubbled from her chest. "Well, you’ve got all the features—good looks, reliability, and the ability to keep up with me when I need you to." She leaned in, pressing a light kiss to his lips. "Plus, you’re surprisingly comfortable."
Brendan chuckled, his arms tightening around her in a playful yet affectionate gesture. "You’re lucky I like the nickname," he said, his voice teasing but with a warmth that matched the softness in his eyes. "But if you keep calling me that, I might have to start charging you for the ride."
She rolled her eyes, but her smile didn’t fade. "You’re ridiculous," she teased, though there was an undeniable affection in her voice. "But you’re my ridiculous boyfriend, so I guess I’ll let it slide."
Brendan kissed her forehead, his hand gently brushing through her hair as he relaxed back into the bed. "I guess that makes two of us, then," he said quietly, his tone softening as he spoke the words he hadn’t quite expected to say, but found himself feeling anyway.
Amari looked at him, her heart fluttering at the thought of how naturally everything was falling into place. It didn’t matter what nickname he carried or what complications came along with their relationship. In this moment, it was just the two of them, and that was enough.
"Yeah," she murmured, leaning in closer. "It does."
Brendan chuckled softly, pulling her a little closer before letting her go with a playful smile. "Alright, alright. Go get your shower, Mari. I know I’m irresistible, but even I can't compete with a hot shower and some fresh clothes."
Amari rolled her eyes but smiled as she slid out of bed, the warmth of their moment still lingering in the air. "You’re lucky you’ve got that charm," she said, tossing him a teasing glance over her shoulder as she walked toward the bathroom. "Or you’d be getting the cold shoulder right about now."
Brendan laughed, his eyes following her as she disappeared into the bathroom. He stretched back onto the bed, his mind still lingering on their earlier conversation and the shift in their relationship. It felt different now—more real, more grounded. They weren’t just having fun or living in the moment anymore; they were finding something deeper between them.
He shook his head with a smile. "Cold shoulder? Yeah, right."
As the sound of the shower started, Brendan lay back, his thoughts drifting to the future and what it might hold for him and Amari. Whatever happened, he was starting to feel like he was ready for whatever was next.
Tumblr media
A few days later she’s missing him.
Amari sat on her couch, her legs tucked beneath her, absentmindedly scrolling through her phone. The TV was on in the background, playing a show she wasn’t really watching. Brendan was out of town for a shoot, and for the first time in weeks, she had a quiet evening to herself.
But her mind wasn’t quiet.
She couldn’t stop thinking about him. Specifically, about how they hadn’t crossed that line yet. She was surprised. It wasn’t like she didn’t want to—hell, she wanted to. Brendan wasn’t shy about his feelings either. The way he looked at her, touched her, kissed her—it was clear he was just as ready. Yet, somehow, they hadn’t gone there.
Her phone buzzed, breaking her thoughts. It was a text from him.
Brendan: Hey, you miss me yet?
She smiled, biting her bottom lip as she typed back.
Amari: Maybe. Why? You miss me?
The dots appeared, then stopped, then started again. Typical Brendan, always taking his time with the perfect response.
Brendan: Of course I miss you. Who else is going to keep me humble?
She laughed, shaking her head. He always knew how to lighten the mood, even from miles away. Still, her thoughts lingered on their relationship. They’d been dancing around the idea of taking things further, but something—maybe timing, maybe hesitation—always seemed to hold them back.
Why hadn’t they done it yet? Was he waiting for the right moment? Or was he afraid of messing up what they already had?
She sighed, setting her phone on the coffee table. The truth was, she liked what they had now, but she also couldn’t deny that the thought of being with him in every way sent a thrill down her spine. Maybe it was just a matter of time.
Her phone buzzed again.
Brendan: Be honest. You’re thinking about me right now, aren’t you?
Amari smirked, shaking her head as she typed her reply.
Amari: What makes you so sure?
His response came almost immediately.
Brendan: Because I’m thinking about you.
Her heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, she wondered if tonight would be the night they finally had that conversation. Even if he was out of town, it felt like they were closer than ever.
Amari stared at her phone, her thumb hovering over the screen as a smile played on her lips. Her heart was racing, the thought of finally addressing the unspoken topic between them both exciting and terrifying. She wanted to ask the question, but what if it made things weird?
Still, the way Brendan had been so open lately, his texts filled with warmth and teasing affection, gave her the courage she needed.
Amari: Can I ask you something?
She hit send before she could change her mind. The three dots appeared almost immediately.
Brendan: You can ask me anything, Mari. What’s on your mind?
She bit her bottom lip, staring at his words. Taking a deep breath, she typed out her response.
Amari: Why haven’t we, you know… done it yet?
She hit send, then immediately tossed her phone onto the couch as if it might explode. The seconds that passed felt like an eternity, and she almost regretted asking. But then her phone buzzed.
Brendan: You mean why haven’t we had sex yet?
Amari felt her cheeks heat up. Of course, he’d just say it outright.
Amari: Yeah. I guess I was just wondering if there’s a reason. Or if you’re waiting for something.
This time, the dots took longer to appear, and she held her breath, anxiously waiting for his reply.
Brendan: Honestly? I’ve thought about it. A lot. But I didn’t want to rush you. I know what we have is special, and I didn’t want to mess it up by moving too fast.
Her chest tightened at his words. Brendan wasn’t just some guy who was looking for the next thrill—he really cared about her.
Amari: I appreciate that. But you know, I’m not holding back because I don’t want to. I think I’ve just been waiting for the right moment too.
There was a pause before his next message came through.
Brendan: Maybe when I’m back, we stop waiting and just see where the moment takes us.
She smiled, her heart fluttering as she typed her response.
Amari: I’d like that.
For the first time that night, Amari felt at ease. Whatever happened next, she knew they’d handle it together.
Amari leaned back on the couch, her phone still in her hand as another thought hit her. Before anything else, she’d been Brendan’s hairstylist. It was how this whole thing between them had started—the playful banter, the lingering glances, and eventually, the deeper connection.
She smirked as she typed out a text.
Amari: You could use a retwist, by the way. Just saying.
It didn’t take long for his reply.
Brendan: Wow. I’m out of town for two days, and you’re already throwing shade?
She laughed out loud, shaking her head.
Amari: I’m just saying, B. Don’t forget who keeps you looking this good.
The dots appeared and disappeared before his message came through.
Brendan: How could I forget? You’re the one who has me sitting between your legs every other week.
Her cheeks flushed at the double meaning in his words.
Amari: Careful, or I’ll start charging extra.
Brendan: You already charge me in other ways, remember?
She rolled her eyes, her smile growing. He always knew how to keep the conversation light and playful, even when there was an undertone of seriousness.
Amari: Fine, but when you get back, I’m fixing that mess on your head.
Brendan: Deal. Only if it means I get to see you sooner.
Her heart skipped a beat at his response. She placed her phone on the coffee table, her mind drifting again. No matter how their relationship unfolded, she knew one thing for sure—Brendan always had a way of making her feel seen and wanted, whether it was in his texts or the way he looked at her during those moments in the shop.
It made her excited for whatever was coming next.

When Brendan finally got back to the city, Amari wasted no time texting him to come over. True to her word, she had her tools ready and a fresh jar of gel waiting.
He walked into her townhouse, his hazel eyes lighting up the moment he saw her. "You ready to fix this mess?" he asked, gesturing to his hair with a grin.
She smirked, rolling her eyes. "You’re lucky I care, B. Sit down."
Brendan dropped onto the floor between her legs like it was second nature, leaning back slightly as she started sectioning his hair. Her hands worked expertly, parting and twisting with precision. The familiar intimacy of the moment settled between them as they talked about his trip, her latest clients, and everything in between.
“Feels good to be home,” Brendan murmured, his voice soft and content.
She smiled, finishing one twist and moving to the next. “Feels good to have you back. You were starting to look wild out there.”
He chuckled, tilting his head to give her better access. “That wild look got me some compliments, though.”
Amari laughed, playfully tugging at one of the twists she’d just finished. “Yeah, well, those people clearly don’t know quality when they see it. Now hold still.”
The minutes passed in comfortable silence, broken only by the occasional hum of approval from Brendan as she worked. When she was done, she leaned back, admiring her handiwork.
“There. You’re human again,” she teased, brushing stray hair off his shoulders.
Brendan turned slightly, his hazel eyes meeting hers. “You always know how to take care of me, Mari.”
Before she could respond, his hands found her thighs, gently rubbing them as he stayed seated on the floor. His touch was slow and deliberate, his thumbs pressing into her skin in a way that made her breath hitch.
“B…” she started, but her voice trailed off as his hands slid a little higher, his gaze never leaving hers.
“You good?” he asked softly, his tone laced with a quiet intensity that sent a shiver down her spine.
She swallowed, nodding. “Yeah. I’m good.”
“Good,” he said, leaning forward slightly. His hands stayed on her thighs, his touch both grounding and electrifying as he closed the small distance between them.
Neither of them moved to get up. The moment stretched on, heavy with unspoken words and unrestrained tension, until Amari finally gave in, leaning down to kiss him. Whatever came next, they both knew they were exactly where they wanted to be.
Amari tried to stay composed, but Brendan’s hands were doing things to her she couldn’t ignore. His thumbs rubbed slow, teasing circles into her thighs, and every time his hazel eyes flicked up to meet hers, it sent a jolt of heat through her.
She shifted in her seat, trying to focus on anything else, but the way he stayed on the floor, his strong frame relaxed between her legs, made it impossible to think straight.
"B…" she whispered, her voice shaky.
His gaze didn’t waver. “What’s wrong, Mari?”
She inhaled deeply, trying to steady herself, but it was no use. The warmth of his hands, the way his thumbs crept a little higher each time—it was all too much. "I can’t…"
"You can’t what?" he asked, his tone soft, almost teasing.
She bit her lip, her restraint dissolving with every passing second. “I can’t take it anymore,” she finally admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Brendan’s lips curled into a slow, knowing smile. “Then don’t,” he said simply, his voice low and inviting.
That was all it took. Amari leaned forward, her hands finding his face as she kissed him with a desperation she couldn’t hold back anymore. He responded instantly, his hands gripping her thighs tighter as he pulled her closer.
She slid off the chair and onto the floor, straddling him as the kiss deepened. Brendan’s hands moved to her waist, anchoring her to him as her fingers tangled in his freshly retwisted hair.
“I knew this would happen,” he murmured against her lips, his voice husky.
“Shut up,” she replied breathlessly, pulling him closer as the last of her self-control slipped away.
The living room disappeared around them as they gave in to the moment, the tension that had been simmering for weeks finally boiling over. Neither of them cared about what came next—right now, all that mattered was each other.
Brendan’s hands slid up her sides, taking her shirt with them. When he lifted it over her head and tossed it aside, he froze for a moment, his hazel eyes taking in the sight of her. She was wearing a black lace bra—the one he’d mentioned was his favorite before.
He ran his fingers along the delicate material, a small, appreciative smile forming on his lips. “You knew I’d like this, didn’t you?” he murmured, his voice low and teasing.
Amari’s cheeks flushed, but she smirked back at him. “Maybe. Or maybe it was just laundry day.”
He laughed softly, his hands traveling to her back, tracing lazy circles along her skin. “I don’t believe that for a second.”
His lips found her collarbone, pressing soft kisses along the curve of her neck and shoulder as his hands explored the familiar contours of her body. Every touch, every kiss, sent shivers down her spine.
“You’re so damn beautiful, Mari,” he whispered against her skin.
She tipped her head back, her fingers digging into his shoulders as he moved lower, his lips brushing along the edge of the lace. The way he touched her, like she was the only thing in the world that mattered, made her heart race.
“Brendan…” she breathed, her voice trembling with need.
He looked up at her then, his eyes smoldering with a mix of affection and desire. “Tell me what you want,” he said softly, his hands resting on her hips, grounding her.
“You,” she whispered without hesitation, her hands tangling in his hair. “Always you.”
His smile widened as he pulled her closer, sealing her words with a kiss that left no room for doubt.
Brendan smirked, his hands gripping her hips a little tighter as he kissed the sensitive spot on her neck. “You sure about that?” he teased, his voice a low rumble that sent shivers through her.
Amari tilted her head back further, her body arching into him. “Yes,” she said, her voice breathy but firm. “Fuck this foreplay, B. I need you. Now.”
His smirk turned into a grin as he looked up at her, his hazel eyes dark with desire. “Well, if that’s what you want…” he murmured.
Without another word, he stood up, taking her with him as if she weighed nothing. Amari wrapped her legs around his waist, her fingers clutching his shoulders as he carried her effortlessly toward the bedroom.
“Brendan—” she started, but he cut her off with a kiss so deep it stole her breath.
When he reached the bed, he gently laid her down, his body following hers as he hovered over her. “No turning back now,” he said, his voice low and serious, though the corner of his mouth quirked up in a teasing smile.
She reached up, pulling him down to her. “I wasn’t planning to.”
Their bodies moved together, the tension that had been building between them for so long finally snapping as they gave in to everything they’d been holding back. Time seemed to stop as the world outside faded away, leaving only the two of them in the heat of the moment. Moans and skin slapping was all that filled the room.
Tumblr media
Amari blinked awake, her body still deliciously sore from the night before. The sunlight streaming through the blinds made her squint as she adjusted to being awake. She shifted slightly, realizing she was sprawled out in her bed, her covers barely clinging to her.
Turning her head, she saw Brendan sitting on the edge of the bed, already dressed in his boxers and one of his favorite hoodies. His broad back was to her as he tapped away on his phone.
"Morning," she murmured, her voice still heavy with sleep.
He glanced back over his shoulder, his hazel eyes softening when they met hers. “Morning, beautiful,” he replied with a small smile.
She stretched lazily, her body still buzzing with the remnants of last night. “What are you doing?”
“Texting my manager,” he said, holding up his phone briefly before turning his attention back to the screen. “She’s asking about studio time later today.”
Amari sighed, propping herself up on one elbow. “You’re already working?”
He chuckled and set his phone down for a moment, turning to face her. “Gotta stay on my grind, Mari. You know how it is.”
She reached out, tugging playfully at the hem of his hoodie. “Yeah, but can’t your grind wait for breakfast in bed? Or… you know, round two?”
Brendan’s grin widened, and he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. “As tempting as that is, I gotta handle this first. But don’t worry,” he added, his voice lowering as he kissed her again, this time on the lips. “I’ll make time for you.”
Her heart fluttered at his words, and she smiled against his mouth. “You better.”
He pulled back, brushing a strand of hair from her face. “Always.”
As Brendan stood up, preparing to grab his jeans from the nearby chair, Amari reached out, her fingers slipping into the waistband of his boxers. She tugged gently, a sly smile spreading across her face as she leaned back against the pillows.
“Leaving already?” she teased, her voice soft but playful.
He paused, glancing down at her with an amused smirk. “I told you, Mari, I gotta handle this,” he said, though he didn’t make a move to step away from her touch.
She tilted her head, her eyes sparkling mischievously. “You’re really going to leave me here like this? After last night?” Her fingers trailed along the edge of the waistband, sending a shiver up his spine.
Brendan let out a low chuckle, shaking his head. “You’re trouble, you know that?”
She grinned, tugging at the waistband a little more insistently. “Maybe. But you like it.”
He leaned over her, bracing his hands on either side of her body as he met her gaze. “You’re making it real hard to leave right now.”
“That’s the point,” she said, her voice dropping into a whisper as her fingers toyed with the fabric.
For a moment, he hovered there, torn between his responsibilities and the undeniable pull of her presence. Finally, he let out a resigned sigh and kissed her deeply, his hands sliding to her waist.
“Fine,” he murmured against her lips, “but only for a few more minutes.”
Amari laughed softly, wrapping her arms around his neck as she pulled him closer. “That’s all I need.”
As Brendan finally left with a lingering kiss and a promise to call her later, Amari flopped back onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. She let out a long sigh, the faint scent of his cologne still clinging to her sheets.
For a moment, she stayed there, basking in the afterglow of his presence and the memory of the night before. But reality crept back in. Her phone buzzed on the nightstand, reminding her of the packed schedule ahead.
With a groan, she dragged herself out of bed, stretching as she made her way to the bathroom. “Alright, Amari,” she muttered to herself, splashing water on her face. “Time to get it together. You’ve got clients waiting.”
After a quick shower, she threw on her go-to stylist outfit—something comfortable yet chic—and tied her braids up into a neat bun. As she gathered her tools and checked her appointment book, her mind kept drifting back to Brendan.
She shook her head, smiling to herself. “Focus, girl,” she whispered. “You’ve got work to do.”
By the time she walked into her salon, the familiar hum of chatter and the smell of hair products snapped her back into her professional zone. Her first client was already waiting, scrolling on her phone.
“Hey, Mari!” the client greeted, looking up. “Ready to work your magic?”
Amari smiled warmly, setting her tools on the counter. “Always,” she replied, pushing thoughts of Brendan to the back of her mind—for now.
Tumblr media
During a brief lull between clients, Amari slipped her phone from her pocket. She smiled when she saw it was a text from Brendan.
“Hey, I’ve been thinking about last night… You’re still on my mind.”
Her heart fluttered as she typed a quick reply. “I’m flattered. You’re still on mine too.”
Almost instantly, his response pinged back. “I know you’ve got clients, but when you get a moment, can I see you later?”
Amari bit her lip, considering for a moment. She had a few more appointments, but there was something about him that made her want to say yes without hesitation. She glanced at the clock—she still had some time before her next client arrived.
“I’d like that. Let me wrap up here first, and I’ll text you when I’m free.”
Brendan’s reply came almost immediately. “Looking forward to it. I’ll be waiting.”
Amari smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her chest. As much as she tried to focus on her work, her mind couldn’t help but wander back to Brendan—his smile, the way he made her feel… and what could happen next.
By the time Amari finished her last client of the day, the evening was settling in. She felt a mix of exhaustion and excitement as she quickly tidied up her station and grabbed her bag. A quick glance at her phone revealed a text from Brendan.
“I’m already at the spot, waiting for you. Can’t wait to see you.”
A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. She typed back quickly. “Be there in 20.”
After a quick change into a simple yet stylish outfit, Amari made her way to the restaurant. It was a cozy, upscale spot known for its quiet ambiance and excellent food, a place Brendan often chose when he wanted to get away from the chaos of his life.
When she walked through the door, her eyes scanned the room until they landed on him sitting at a corner table, looking effortlessly handsome. His hazel eyes locked with hers, and he stood up with a smile, greeting her as she approached.
“Hey, beautiful,” he said, his voice warm and inviting as he kissed her cheek.
“Hey, you,” she replied, feeling a flutter in her stomach. She slipped into the seat across from him.
Brendan’s gaze lingered on her for a moment, and she noticed a quiet admiration in his eyes. “You look stunning, as always.”
“Thanks,” Amari smiled, settling in. “You clean up well yourself.”
He chuckled, glancing at the menu. “I wanted to make tonight special. So, what’s your vibe? Something light, or are you ready for a feast?”
She laughed softly, glancing at the menu as well. “I’m thinking something hearty tonight. I’ve been craving steak all day.”
Brendan grinned, knowing exactly what she was referring to. “I’ll take that as a challenge. You know I’m a steak guy.”
As they talked over dinner, the conversation flowed easily. It was casual yet filled with moments of genuine connection—laughter, teasing, and quiet glances shared between bites of food. Amari found herself relaxing in a way she hadn’t expected, enjoying the simple act of being with him without any pressure.
When the meal was over, they lingered over drinks, talking about everything and nothing. Brendan seemed at ease, and Amari felt the same way. The connection between them felt deeper now, like a shared understanding and unspoken promise.
“So, what’s next?” Amari asked, her voice softening.
Brendan looked at her, his eyes reflecting something more than just the fun of the evening. “I don’t know about you, but I don’t want this night to end just yet.”
She smiled, knowing exactly what he meant. “Neither do I.”
With that, the night began to feel like it was just the beginning of something new, something real.
“You still owe me for round two. But I’ll settle for a make out.” she says.
Brendan grinned, clearly amused by her words. "Oh, so now you're keeping score, huh?" he teased, his fingers gently brushing her arm as he pulled her closer. "Guess I’ll just have to make it up to you tonight."
Amari raised an eyebrow, her playful smirk never faltering. "You better, B. I’m not going to let you off easy after this morning’s… 'round one'."
He chuckled, his hand cupping her cheek as he leaned in, his lips brushing against hers in a slow, deliberate kiss. "I’m up for the challenge," he murmured, his voice low and confident.
Amari couldn't help but smile into the kiss, the tension of the morning finally melting away. It was as if all the teasing, all the playful banter, had led them here—right where they both wanted to be.
"Just remember," she said, pulling back just slightly, her eyes sparkling with mischief, "You promised a long night of making up for it. No backing out now."
Brendan leaned in again, his lips finding hers with a renewed intensity. "No backing out," he murmured against her lips. "I plan to keep every promise I make to you, Mari."
And with that, the night stretched out before them, filled with promises, laughter, and the kind of chemistry they both had been craving.

A few days later she’s standing at his door. She hears Jacquees’ ‘No Questions.’ playing through the door.
The soft, rhythmic beats of Jacquees' "No Questions" filled the room as Amari and Brendan found themselves nestled together on the couch, the dim lighting of the penthouse casting a warm glow over the space. They were both still feeling the lingering energy of the day—the shoot, the playful chemistry between them, and now, this quiet moment together.
Brendan pulled her closer, his fingers tracing the line of her arm as she leaned into him, her head resting against his shoulder. She could feel the tension of the day melting away, replaced by the soft hum of intimacy.
"You were amazing today," Brendan whispered into her ear, his breath warm against her skin. "The way you just owned that shoot... I couldn’t stop watching you."
Amari smiled, a soft blush creeping across her cheeks. She wasn’t used to this side of Brendan—the way he could be both the intense artist and the caring, attentive man in front of her. But tonight, it was just them, no pressure, no cameras, just the music, and the feeling of being close.
"I love when you say stuff like that," she said, her voice barely above a whisper as she shifted to face him. "Makes me feel like I’m really a part of this, you know?"
He cupped her face gently, his thumb brushing along her jawline. "You’re more than a part of this, Mari. You’re everything."
The song played on, its sensual beat matching the quiet, passionate exchange between them. There was no need for words, just the shared understanding that this moment was theirs. As the music swirled around them, Brendan leaned in and kissed her softly, their lips moving in sync with the rhythm of the song. In that moment, nothing else mattered but the connection they shared.
"No questions," he murmured against her lips, the lyrics of the song perfectly echoing their unspoken bond. "Just you and me."
As Amari settled into his lap, her body relaxed, and she closed her eyes, savoring the peace and comfort of the moment. The sound of Jacquees’ smooth voice blended with the soft rhythm of the music, creating the perfect backdrop for their quiet time together. She could feel Brendan’s warmth radiating through her, the gentle rise and fall of his chest beneath her as he stroked her hair with a calm tenderness.
For once, there were no distractions, no demands pulling them in different directions. Just the soft glow of the penthouse lights, the hum of the music, and the feeling of being safe and cherished in his presence.
Brendan watched her, his eyes soft as he traced small circles on her arm, lost in the stillness of the moment. He could tell she was content, and that peace between them was something he never wanted to lose.
"You’re perfect like this," he said quietly, almost to himself, as he continued to play with her hair. "So calm, so beautiful... I just want you to always feel this safe."
Amari smiled faintly, her lips curving as she gazed up at him. “I do. I feel like I can be myself with you. No pressure, just... us.”
Brendan’s heart softened at her words, and he leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "That’s all I want, Mari. Just you."
The song played on, and they stayed like that, wrapped in each other’s company, neither needing to say anything more. In that moment, they were everything to each other, and it felt like the world could wait.

Amari rubbed her eyes, groggily sitting up in bed as the sunlight filtered through her curtains. She stretched, then froze when she noticed the delivery outside her door. Curious, she quickly got up and walked over, finding a bouquet of fresh flowers—roses, lilies, and some baby’s breath—arranged beautifully, their vibrant colors almost glowing against the sleek Louis Vuitton box placed next to them.
Her heart skipped a beat as she carefully bent down to pick up the box. It was heavy and well-packaged, sealed with the signature LV logo. She bit her lip, a smile spreading across her face as she wondered what Brendan could have sent her.
She brought the items inside and sat on the couch, the flowers resting on the coffee table beside her. Slowly, she opened the box, revealing a stunning leather bag—an elegant and timeless piece that instantly caught her eye. It was a classic Louis Vuitton Speedy, the rich monogram canvas shining with perfection. Amari’s breath caught in her throat as she ran her fingers over the smooth, luxurious leather handles.
A note was tucked inside the bag, and she unfolded it carefully:
"For my beautiful Mari. I know we’re figuring things out, but I couldn’t help but show you how much you mean to me. I’m thinking of you always. – B"
Her heart warmed as she read the note, the gesture leaving her feeling both cherished and slightly overwhelmed. She had always appreciated his thoughtful side, but this... this was next level. She could feel how much he cared for her in every stitch of that bag, every petal of the flowers.
She smiled to herself, her fingers still tracing the bag’s edge. Her thoughts drifted back to last night, the softness of his words, the comfort of his presence, and how easily everything felt with him.
What are we doing, B? she thought, unsure but excited to see where this connection was leading them. Still, she couldn’t deny how much she loved the attention, the gifts, the thoughtfulness. It felt real, and she felt wanted in a way she hadn’t expected.
As she texted Brendan a quick thank you, she knew she’d have to figure out what all this meant for them, but for now, she could just enjoy the moment and the man who was clearly more than just a passing chapter.

Amari stood behind her chair in the shop, glancing at the clock as she finished organizing her tools and equipment. It was a quiet morning, the usual hum of the shop barely audible as she prepped for her next client. Brendan had left town for a few days, leaving her to handle her work on her own. She wasn’t exactly complaining—she was used to working solo, but there was a lingering thought in her mind.
After the last few days, the gifts, the intimacy, the way things felt when they were together, it was hard not to wonder what the future held for them. Her mind kept drifting to that note he had written, how he’d thought of her even when they weren’t physically together. It made her feel special, but also uncertain about the space between them. She wasn’t used to feeling this vulnerable. With clients constantly in and out, and the music from the speakers keeping her grounded, it was easy to keep busy and push thoughts aside.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket, and she pulled it out to see a text from Brendan.
“Just wanted to check in on you. How’s the day going? Miss you.”
She smiled softly at the message, her fingers lingering over the keys as she thought about her reply. She missed him too—more than she had expected. She typed back quickly.
“It’s good. Quiet, but that’s a blessing some days. Miss you too. Can’t wait for you to get back.”
She hit send, leaning back in her chair as she waited for her client to arrive. As she stared at the phone, another thought crossed her mind. What was she really looking for in this? She’d always kept things casual, enjoying the attention and the fun. But with Brendan, it was different.
She let out a soft sigh, mentally shaking off the thoughts. For now, she had to focus on the work in front of her. There would be time to figure things out when the time came.

The Proposal
Timeskip Kenma x Fem Reader

Tumblr media
“What's up bros It's Kozuken. Today, I have with me (he pulls the chair you’re sitting on in frame) my beautiful girlfriend, and we’ll be playing Minecraft together!”
The chat exploded with excitement and compliments. Kenma’s viewers loved it when you joined the stream even though it wasn't often. You only joined once in a while when Kenma asked you or on special occasions. You thought today's stream was just a regular stream, and Kenma only asked you to join because why not? However, Kenma had other plans in mind.
You guys have been dating for almost 5 years now and everything was going great, sure you had arguments here and there but nothing break up worthy. Overall, Kenma was pretty content with your relationship. The thought of marriage didn't even cross his mind until Kuroo brought it up randomly one day.
**********************************************
“Sooo when’s the wedding?” Kuroo asked while sipping his tea.
“What wedding?” Kenma asked with genuine confusion.
“Are you being serious right now?” Kuroo put down his tea and stared Kenma dead in the eyes.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Are you not planning on marrying y/n?”
“Oh….” Kenma sits there and ponders for a couple of seconds. “Well to be honest I didn't really think about marriage. It would be nice though, calling her my wife and all.” A slight blush appeared on his cheeks.
“Well you better get on with it, no girl would stay with you this long if she didn't think you were gonna eventually propose to her. And if you wait too long she might just leave you.”
**********************************************
And that’s how he ended up here nervously sitting with a ring in his pocket and you sitting next to him completely oblivious to his plan.
He planned to propose to you through Minecraft since it was the first game you guys ever played together, but throughout the whole stream, he kept questioning himself. What if you said no? Should he really do this on stream where millions of people can see? Should he have proposed a different way? What if you wanted some big fancy flowers on the beach kinda proposal? How would he recover if you rejected him in front of his fans? These thoughts plagued his mind until he realized that it was almost time for the stream to end. It was now or never.
“Before we end the stream there's something I’d like to show you y/n, follow me.” Kenma said sounding kinda uneasy.
“Okay!” You say with a bit of excitement. You noticed that he was acting kinda weird but you decided to ignore it thinking it was nothing and continued to follow him in the game.
He carried you to this super pretty area that was covered in flowers. You could tell that there was a sign in the middle of it but you were too far away to see what it said. Once you were close enough you finally read what it said.
“WILL YOU MARRY ME Y/N💍?”
It took you a couple of seconds to process what was happening. Is this for real??
You look over at Kenma and he is on one knee with a ring in his hand.
You sat there, hands covering your mouth, absolutely dumbfounded.
“Y/n, you are the best girl I could ever ask for, I love you with all my heart and I cant imagine my life without you in it. Will you marry me?
“OH MY GOD YESSSSS!!” You jump on him causing you both to tumble over.
You guys get up off the floor and Kenma slides the ring on your finger
The stream chat was exploding with congratulations and people laughing at the fall.
Kenma thanked his viewers for the support and ended the stream.
You two spent the rest of the evening celebrating and looking at wedding inspo on Pinterest.
