watching adaptations of books can be a very tense experience because even if they did it well, they are bound to change things because of the nature of adaptations and you're not always going to agree with what they did. the number of times I've gone "from a storytelling standpoint, I can completely understand why they changed it, I'm just not sure I agree with the changes" is crazy

lotr/the hobbit incorrect quotes
part 3, i do not intend to stop
*three hunters at night*
Legolas: i love you Gimli
Gimli: yeah, i love you too
*silence*
Legolas: we both love you as well, Estel
Aragorn: thanks, i was starting to feel left out
— — — —
Bard: you know, i wish you would just admit that you made a mistake
Thranduil, stirring his coffee with passion: i PREFERE it with salt
— — — —
Pippin, excited: hey Boromir, we made you a friendship bracelet!
Merry, also excited: *showing boromir a very ugly, yet made with love bracelet*
Boromir: Yeah, you know… i’m not really jewellery person…
Pippin: oh… it’s okay…
Merry: it’s fine, you don’t have to wear it…
Boromir: No. I’m gonna wear it forever, back off.
— — — —
Legolas: whoops-
Aragorn: whoops? WHOOPS? We are far past the ‘whoops’ situation! ‘Whoops’ is but a distant speck in the review mirror! We are firmly in the ‘oh fuck’ territory and i expect you to ACT LIKE IT!!

I chose sparring before I realized it had to be honerable... Oops. Still my first choice, I'd love a closer look at his fighting style. And I might last a bit at least ;D

hii!! so your previous crush-post (xD) was so. cute! may I ask for some more romantic fluff and the Fellowship (and Faramir and Arwen, if it's okay?) proposing to the reader?
I added pictures of what the rings might look like because I have a Pinterest addiction and figured I could put it to use
How the fellowship proposes (+ Faramir & Arwen)
Aragorn:
-To be completely honest, I don’t see him being particularly traditional about it
-And by that I mean he doesn’t make a big thing of it and doesn’t do the whole kneeling thing
-I imagine him proposing just happens in a loving conversation that is pretty casual
-But honestly every conversation with him feels kinda intimate so it’s still very romantic
Tumblr media
Legolas:
-He is restless
-He plans it to be thought out and to give a little speech
-But it just kinda comes out
-Not in an awkward or rushed way; but he is just so in love he can’t wait any longer
Tumblr media
Gimli:
-Actually shitting himself
-I really think he would have planned to propose on multiple different occasions but got too scared and chickened out
-It’s not because he isn’t sure about it, or thinks you won’t say yes; he just wants it to be perfect
-He covers for his anxiety with a forced confidence that is frankly adorable
-Blushes profusely
Tumblr media
Boromir:
-Very traditional
-I’m talking secluded paradise with rose petals and candles everywhere
-He spares no expense; no he’s not extra…he just wants to show how much he loves you…that’s it
-Down on one knee giving a honorable and sweet speech about how you are the best thing in his life and how he will spend eternity loving you
-Definitely gets a little emotional but for the most part he keeps it together (the same cannot be said for your wedding)
-He had Faramir help him find a ring because I refuse to believe Boromir knows anything about fashion, let alone jewelry
Tumblr media
Frodo:
-He’s a bit restless, but in a giddy sort of way
-He’s just so excited about the idea of marrying you that he isn’t even thinking too much about the proposal
-He knows you will say yes
-I could also see him putting the ring somewhere you will find it; maybe on your pillow, and hide in the next room all giddy like a little kid as he waits for you to find it
-This is what my dad apparently did and I think it’s cute
Tumblr media
Sam:
-Ok I know I said Gimli is shitting himself; but this guy is actually having the squirts
-But he’s nervous because he gets very down on himself at times and he worries you might say no
-Logically he knows you will be so excited because you have talked about marriage before; but he can’t help but worry
-Doesn’t take you anywhere too fancy; he keeps it kinda casual but romantic
-Maybe in the garden
Tumblr media
Merry:
-He has had this planned for months
-He has one of his friends distract you for the day while he sets up a romantic picnic dinner
-Like a surprise party that you are kinda expecting because the person getting you out of the house is kinda sus
-But it’s so sweet and Merry is dresses so nicely
-Seriously a dapper little hobbit
-He has practiced some speeches to Pippin, but he doesn’t end up doing any of them
-Instead he opts for just a natural conversation that is sweet and to the point
-Big expensive gem
Tumblr media
Pippin:
-He has been pretending to propose for a while
-Well not really pretending, but you know it’s not his official proposal
-That being said every “proposal” he does comes with some sort of offering; he once did it with your dinner plate
-All his fake proposals were to have some fun with it, but mainly to get over his nerves; he’s practicing
-Will continue to fake propose even after you are married just for the fun of it
-Likes to see people’s reactions (plus maybe get a free cake slice at a restaurant or something idk)
-I wanted to add a joke picture of a tiny with three plastic carrots but alas you are only allowed 10 pictures apparently so just imagine I did a funny thing
Tumblr media
*Bonus Faramir
-He is just the sweetest and I love this man
-He seems like the type to propose pretty early on in a relationship
-Not because he’s rushing, but he just knows you are the one
-Surprisingly calm about it; or at least he appears that way
Tumblr media
*Double bonus Arwen:
-She is probably the most confident of them all
-She is just so sure spoken
-She makes sure you both are dressed in your best clothes and will take you to a beautiful secluded place in Rivendell
-Idk why but I felt strongly that the gem would be blue
-(sorry hers is short, I wasn’t particularly inspired idk why)
Tumblr media

Just a little reminder that Gandalf isn’t included because I don’t generally write him for romantic prompts unless specifically asked

I'm thinking about "What if the main character did not have a secret, powerful family background and was just some random person?" AUs for different stories, because I personally find that situation more compelling most of the time and I think it introduces more interesting struggles. While thinking about a bunch of other stories, I ended up thinking about Aragorn in "Lord of the Rings".
Now, Aragorn is a special case because 1) I wouldn't really call him THE main character and the "noble" members of the Fellowship are well-contrasted by the hobbits. The hobbits may be mostly Shire gentry (except for Sam), but on the grand stage of Middle Earth, they're still unimpressive nobodies. Frodo is already our ordinary hero. 2) Aragorn's road to kingship comes with him struggling with his ancestor's failures and accepting the heavy burdens that come with being Isildur's heir. This is specifically an arc of a character struggling with their family history. I am absolutely not saying that Aragorn being royalty makes LOTR a bad story and that it would be better if he was just some random guy. I think this is a well-written character storyline that is a key feature of the overall story.
But I do think it would be really funny to write fanfiction where Aragorn wasn't Arathorn's son. (There is the issue of the heritage that makes Aragorn age slowly, but maybe you could wiggle that so that Aragorn has that kind of heritage from a different source?) Like, the line of Isildur has died out, and let's say that Aragorn's mother takes shelter in Rivendell with her son, and kid Aragorn ends up wandering around to the broken sword and picking up the handle. And either Aragorn's mother lies to Elrond about Aragorn being Arathorn's son or Elrond happens across kid Aragorn with the broken sword and thinks... "Hey, what if we just... lied about it?"
Now, this could end really badly! As I vaguely understand it, the Silmarillion (which I have not read) contains a bunch of examples where lying did not go well, so maybe this lie is how Middle Earth falls into chaos in this AU. Whoops.
But even though this breaks some plotlines, I'm a sucker for adoption storylines. I love adoption being treated as important. It's compelling to imagine Elrond and Aragorn's mother carefully explaining the situation with the sword to him, and then this child just... stubbornly deciding that he's going to become Isildur's heir. Maybe Aragorn's determination falters at some point, he gives up on the idea, and he later has to return to Elrond as an adult and persuade him that no, he means it this time, mankind isn't just about bloodlines, he's going to pick up this burden on behalf of all of humanity. I think that there's something powerful in a person deciding that no, I'm not of Isildur's blood, but I have his same potential for success and for failure, and I'm here. I'm fighting. I picked up the broken sword and that's good enough, isn't it? Who are you to say I'm not his heir? I'm HERE.
I think there's powerful magic in that too. (Also, Arathorn is dead and getting adopted as a father by some random kid. Sure. Okay. I think that's just funny.)
(Also, oh my, there is SO MUCH tragedy if Aragorn being Isildur's heir is a lie and Boromir died believing it. The GUILT. The GUILT that Aragorn would feel when Boromir says, "I would have followed you, my brother, my captain, my king." Like, oh man, now you HAVE TO make it true.)
Now, maybe Aragorn doesn't become King of Gondor in this AU or maybe he does. Maybe Faramir becomes king instead. Maybe it becomes well known by the end of the journey that Aragorn isn't a blood descendant of Isildur and maybe it's a secret known only to the Fellowship. I'd like to think that he still marries Arwen. I like the idea of Arwen happily and knowingly marrying some nobody lying about his heritage and Elrond internally being like, "This is kind of on me."
The most important thing here is that it would be so fucking funny if Aragorn (and Elrond and Gandalf and Galadriel) successfully lied to Sauron the Deceiver. Sauron's like, "Oh? A secret heir come out of hiding to fight against me? Sounds legit." And at some point near the end, just before some hobbits chuck a ring into a volcano behind his back, Sauron is looking at Aragorn like, "Wait a minute, what the fuck, you lying little SHIT."
(Or Sauron finds out via Pippin that Aragorn is lying and feels SO SMUG about how he's going to crush a false king, which just adds to Aragorn's whole "made you look!" distraction keeping Sauron from noticing the hobbits sneaking into Mount Doom.)

Okay this is probably a really stupid and hyper specific request, but I really want to see it.. What about the Fellowship (plus Faramir if you wouldn't mind) with a reader who's really sensitive to the cold? Specifically in their hands too.
I have a weird medical condition called Raynaud's Syndrome where, when I get cold, my hands lose all circulation and essentially risk dying from blood loss (something about the blood vessels constricting in the cold) so I personally have to wear at least 2 pairs of gloves when going out in under 50°F weather. It's annoying as hell, and I just imagine the reader on the quest trying to hide it but someone notices they're wearing like 3 pairs of gloves or how their hands are freakishly ice cold and getting worried.
Sorry if that's too specific, it's just -5°F here so I'm thinking about it. I love your blog, keep up the amazing work and take care of yourself sweetie!
Nah, not stupid at all! Besides I've seen much more specific requests and scenarios 😆 this honestly has such opportunity to be a cute imagine though I'm vibin with it~ gonna do everyone cuz, well you know 😂 I use the term frostbite a bit just because they probably wouldn’t quite have the same medical understanding/terminology in Middle Earth lol
Cold Hands, Warm Heart
Aragorn
“There is no shame in it.” Starting, you peer up at Aragorn, probably looking for all the world like a spooked rabbit. “It is cold,” he agrees simply, nodding down to your hidden hands. “Yes,” you reply, wringing them and shuddering, “I suppose you are correct. Call it misfortune, but I am quite prone to its ill effects.” Immediately he reaches for your hand, brows raising at the ice he feels in your veins even through your pair of gloves. Half releasing you and gazing sadly upon your wince at the loss of warmth, Aragorn reaches into his pack and hands you a bundle with a faint sheen. Leather gloves. “These are much thicker. A bit unwieldy, yes, but I trust we won’t be doing much fighting in the snow. Take them, please, for they see no use with me.” “How can I thank you?” You smile at him, wonder coloring your eyes. “Simply wear them with joy,” he replies.
Legolas
“Do not worry,” Legolas spoke suddenly at your side, all but startling you save the sheer calm of his presence, “I have something for you if you’d like- a gift of the elves.” Cocking your head, you swiveled to face him, flushing as he stepped close enough for your hips to brush. A part of you wondered if he was doing it on purpose, but knowing him he hadn't even realized...shaking your head, you held out your hands to accept what he offered. It appeared as a kerchief, a small shroud of fabric with a faint, almost silky, sheen. "You may recall our cloaks hide us from hostile eyes? Well, this will keep the cold locked away from you tighter than anything. May I?" Such a gentleman. Smiling, you nod as he folds his gift gently over your hands, almost sobbing at the instantaneous difference. Experimentally you flex your hands, find even the strain of your joints diminished. Without thinking, you lean up and kiss his cheek, pulling away with shock to his smile. "And yet you still have a warmer gift for me."
Boromir
He sees the way you furtively grip your gloved hands, tries not to draw too much attention but gradually moves to walk at your side. “Are you in pain?” He asks with a slight nod to your hands. At that, you sigh and shake your head. “No, my hands are just quite sensitive. Since I was young I was told my risk of frostbite is great.” Eyes widening, Boromir takes one of your hands; you wince at the motion’s rush of cold only for it to melt into a smile at the way the pad of his thumb brushes over the back of it. “Why have you never told me?” “Because,” you shrug, “it sounds like I’m just complaining. My claim is not believable to most.” “Your words hold true to me,” Boromir replies with a smile, pulling a pair of gloves from his pocket, “here. You need them more than I do. Really, I insist.”
Gimli
“You look like you’ve seen a ghost!” Chuckling faintly at the dwarf’s words, you finally break from your reverie, realizing you must have been staring oddly in a daze. The cold was getting to you and bad, snow flitting between your heads and caking onto your cloaks. The old, worn gloves you had were hardly helping, and in that moment you feared for loss of your hands to frostbite- perhaps that was the ghost you’d seen. With effort you peel your fingers from their fists and wince. “Ah! Cold, are you? Why, I’ve just the thing! We dwarves are quite thick in the hide, often hard to beat by a little snow! But that’s also because we know a trick or two,” he tells you with a wink, pulling two little sewn objects from his pockets. Resembling small pillows, they fall lightly into your hands. “Give them a shake for a bit, see if you don’t feel better! A great chemical trick from the mines, you see.” Frowning faintly, you humor Gimli, shaking his strange gifts in your hand until- warmth! Grinning, you shake more vigorously and sigh in relief at the heat and motion spreading back into your hands, which you throw around his neck. “I’ll never doubt you again, Gimli!” “Mind telling the elf that?”
Frodo
"Can we keep the fire going?" Frodo. He had made his way to Aragorn's side, and though that was all you heard beneath the wind and your premature mourning of the heat it seemed the hobbit was vying rather well, making a few gestures before the ranger gave him a nod. With a small smile Frodo returned to the log you sat upon, lowering down to take a seat at your side. "I saw how cold you are. Your hands have hardly left this fire. Aragorn agreed we can keep it so long as watch is kept," he told you, nodding down to the kindling saving your hands. "Thank you," you breathed, "I hope he doesn't think me frivolous." "And I hope you don't think me a gossip, for I told him you needed it. I-I just worried for you and could hardly stand to see you get frostbite of our accord." Endearment took over your face as you peered into the hobbit's eyes, saw the reflection of your fire flickering therein. "Oh, Frodo, I could never think that. You are no gossip, but a hero." And with that, you relinquished the fire long enough to put your arms around him, pulling him close and bringing a different kind of warmth.
Sam
“You look like you’re fit to catch your death of cold.” Turning from your focus upon your hands, you see Sam at your side and smile faintly. “Let’s hope not,” you joke back, “but I’ll be grateful for the fire once we get it started.” Digging in his pockets, Sam looks down for a moment before producing a scarf. “I figure even if I had gloves they wouldn’t fit you, but you could always wrap this around.” “I can’t take this,” you shake your head, “after all, what will you do, then?” “I’ll just sit right next to you and that’ll keep me plenty warm,” Sam responds with a sweet smile, "here." Matters settled, he winds his scarf tightly around your hands, keeping them in his for a moment, thinking, then finally pressing a kiss to them before he lets them go.
Merry
"Oh, no, you don't!" "Merry," you giggle, "I need to get my whittling knife from my pack!" "I can get it." Since the day you told Merry you were sensitive to the cold, particularly by the frost that overtakes your hands, the hobbit has quite insisted upon holding them in his at all times. Even if yours are larger, his are quite insistent and, bless him, warm. However, he barely understood that you could hardly walk with both your hands in his all the time, and the others had taken to giving you little smiles and shakes of their head and never calling one name without the other. "You ought to give up," Pippin chuckles your name with a grin, "Merry is quite used to keeping his antics going." "Antics?" Sam shoots back, crossing his arms and shaking his head fondly. "More like excuses. I know a lovestruck fool when I see one."
Pippin
“You should have told me you were cold!” Guilt flit across your features at Pippin’s words and, of course, his glance to your thrice-gloved hands. “Well, it’s just my hands, you see, I-” “Doesn’t matter,” he cut you off with a grin of warm acceptance, “no matter what of you isn’t comfortable, you have me to take care of you, alright? Now watch this.” You watched as he placed stones in Sam’s once-washed pot. “I’ve seen healers do this, usually on someone’s back but I figure heat is heat, right?” Giggling, you admit that he is right. “We’ll let these go for a bit before you grab them- can’t have you getting burned either,” he dotes, shaking his head and peering back from the fire to you with shining eyes.
Faramir
"Faramir, they'll stare," you protested as he began walking you out the door. "And when I tell them this is what the nurses ordered they shall feel quite remorseful," he joked back, continuing on your course. Heat rushed to your cheeks as you went out into the White City with one hand both in Faramir's and in his pocket. The other you kept in your own, supplemented for lack of your beloved's warmth by an extra glove. It was, in fact, not the same. "Besides, there are worse pockets for your hand to be in, no?" That comment was quite worth relieving your left hand of its pocket long enough to give Faramir a light smack on the chest. Opportunity struck, though, and he caught your hand in his free one, pressing his lips to the back of it. "Perhaps I am fonder of winter than I quite realized. Always did we prefer spring's hope of blossom to the dreary chill, but it would seem there are many advantages to take in the cold."
Eomer
“Why do you hide your hands so?” Direct. Eomer, it seemed, did not find your habit of tucking away from the cold as discreet as you did. You sighed. Fear crept along your spine alongside winter’s chill at the thought of the warrior finding you weak. Would he believe you or disregard your word like so many others? “I’m prone to frostbite, you could say,” you replied quietly, hands clasped. At that, Eomer tilted his head, fixing you as a sight entirely new to his eyes. “Let me see.” Suppressing a wince, you held out your gloved hands and tried to ignore the jolt you felt when he held them, thumbs running over the backs. Frowning, he spoke again. “This will not do.” That time, you winced, trying to pull your hands away, but his grip tightened as he continued. “The Riders have far thicker gloves. Let me fetch you a pair. Your hands are far too capable to lose, after all.” Winking, he made his way toward the armory with a smile matching the faint creep of yours upon your lips.
Haldir
"Is this why they were so reluctant to send you? I must apologize, I fought so hard on your behalf because I thought they doubted you, not this." You shake your head, eyes almost tearing up at the hurt on Haldir's face. "You could not have known. I...try not to tell anyone. They seldom believe me," you confessed, hands wringing nervously. The mission was outside of Lothlórien, away higher into the mountains where the chill could affect you. Of greatest concern to you, though, was how Haldir would react to a perceived weakness. His grace had you taken aback, though, as he held your hands, never pushed you, ensured you felt able to fight before sending you into the fray. Even when you stayed behind from danger you couldn't help but smile as his words. "This will never happen again. All I want is to keep you safe."
Eowyn
“This is beautiful, thank you,” you breathe, pulling a short length of luxurious fur from the box with wide eyes. This could not have been an easily attained gift. “You like it?” Eowyn smiles, enraptured at your joy and the way you eagerly nod. “Do you know what it is?” Grin fading a bit, you shake your head, regretting your ignorance especially if it is to come off as ingratitude. It does not, though, or such only fuels Eowyn’s glow further as she extends a hand over it. “A muff! See here!” Plucking it from your hands, she slides her own inside the fur, revealing its tube shape. Alight, you immediately stick your own hands in there, sheepish at the way Eowyn starts at the cold of them before holding them together beneath the warm, fluffy layers. “This is perfect,” you thank her, your head falling to her shoulder.
Arwen
"Your hands are cold!" "I-I'm sorry," you pull from her grasp sheepishly. "Do not be," she smiles and shakes her head, "It simply came as a surprise. Mine are often the same. Rarely do I feel it so." "Prone to frostbite as I am," you remarked, "my hands are likely colder than any you have felt before." "Meleth nín," Arwen's brow creased, "why have you never spoken of this before? Perhaps we should try something." Your own brow creased with a faint frown as the elf took you by the hand, off to one of the many rooms baths were drawn in. "Oh, yes," you replied, "hot water does help." "I am sure it does, but would you be willing to try something new?" Swallowing a spike of anxiety, you peered into Arwen's blue eyes and nodded, giving in fully to your trust of her. You could tell she wanted to keep what she was doing a surprise, standing completely over the small basin as she was, but soon she was taking your hands again, dipping them several times into thick, heavenly warmth. "And now," she told you with a grin, wrapping your hands in small covers, then heated towels, "we wait." Every muscle in your body relaxed as the sensation crept through your veins, up through your loosening hands and shivering deliciously down your spine. "What is this?" You asked, almost adding magic to the end of your question but feeling a bit too foolish. "Wax of all things," Arwen giggled, "and judging by your expression, it is helping."
Elrond
"Let me feel them." Elrond's voice is commanding, but not at all harsh, as he holds out his palms and accepts your hands. Immediately his thumbs curl over them and a light frown creases his forehead. He nods. "They are quite cold." At that, it is your turn to nod as if to say I told you so. "The storm is to last for several more days. Come with me. Please." The last word upon Elrond's lips is one of the softest you've heard, drawing you up from your seat and after him without a single thought. You follow the flow of Elrond's robes down a corridor and into another room, this one with a crackling fireplace and the softest-looking bed you've ever seen. "What is this," you cannot help joking, "my winter prison?" Before you hear the lord of Rivendell, you feel him, his form drawing nearer until his chest rests against your back. "I prefer to think of it as our getaway," he replies in a low voice, hands falling upon your shoulders.
Lindir
Lindir’s face fell at the frustration upon yours, the way your hands shakily dropped from his harp. He was to teach you as you’d wished, but your hands were not cooperating with you. “You seem a bit stiff. May I?” Confused more than anything, you look up at him and nod. Reaching over, he takes one hand in each of his, brows shooting up the moment you touch. “Well, no small wonder! Your hands are like ice.” “I know,” you agree, gaze falling from Lindir’s dark eyes, “they get like this with every chill of winter.” You see the way Lindir straightens, the surprise crossing his face and creasing his forehead. “Then let us move inside,” he replies, massaging your hands gently in his, “and I will hear no more talk of lessons until we’ve drawn you some warm water.”

Why The Bad Batch Season 3 Was Bad
Now hear me out! I enjoyed it, for the most part. And I know many fans did enjoy love it. But objectively speaking, the show had a rough Seasons 1-2 while it tried to find it's footing, and then a horrible Season 3 due to bad writing. I could never really find the words to explain how I felt but recently I discovered an actual writing technique that was not implemented, which is the core of my problem. So let's talk about that!
The technique in question is setup/payoff. Ideally, everything in your story should have some sort of payoff. Think Boromir being tempted by the ring, and then later betraying the Fellowship. Or the dwarves and elves hating each other but later on Legolas and Gimli referring to each other as friends. The setup can be truly anything, and the payoff also can be. They don't need to be these massive moments that feel epic. But ideally, every notable moment and every lore drop should be building towards something.
While nothing has to build towards something, Tech's death should have. His death was a consequence to the Bad Batch's actions, however it wasn't properly built up or hinted at. The mission was treated the same as any other mission. There was no setup for Tech's death. You could replace his death with literally anyone else in the crew and the impact would have been exactly the same. So if Tech's death wasn't paying anything off, then it should be setup for something later down the line. It's a major event, it needed to be.
Fast forward to Season 3 and we have this assassin pursuing the Bad Batch. This assassin demonstrates Tech's abilities, as well as Crosshair's. Theories buzzed around the internet that this assassin was, in fact, Tech. This would have been awesome payoff. But instead the assassin was a faceless individual. I understand where the show was coming from: "This is what the Empire wanted to turn Task Force 99 into." But that's not satisfying. There was no buildup towards the Empire removing the identity of the clones, not truly. We could have seen that through Crosshair, but all we saw was the Empire trying to control Crosshair, not erase who he was. If we in contrast did have Tech return as the assassin, that would have been different. There would have been setup for that, and then slow buildup, and then finally, the reveal.
And this leads to a major thing that I'm going to talk about that Star Wars...has a history of ignoring. It's okay for the audience to be right. They knew we were saying "Tech could still be alive!" They knew we were going to theorize about the assassin the moment we saw him. I suspect that the whole Faceless Assassins twist was implemented to try to surprise us. It sucked. It had no setup. It wasn't paying anything off. It landed as flat as Tech's death. Yes if the main assassin was actually Tech, we would have guessed it and not been surprised, and granted that would have been a slightly cheesy part of the story, but we would have been excited. It would have been proper payoff to Tech's supposed death.
So TL;DR, The Bad Batch Season 3 sucked because it abandoned a writing principle in order to attempt to shock us, and instead left a major Season 2 event and the entirety of Season 3 dangling with emptiness.
To all you writers or aspiring writers out there, don't follow that path. Even if it means the readers are right, stick to your story and don't abandon writing techniques. There is so much power in writing a story that is purely yours, and no one else's.
Until next time

Okay, fun question time. One of the various multimedia elements of the LotR Road Trip AU story is that I am planning on making playlists for each member of the Fellowship, the idea being that they're supposed to be snapshots into everyone's music libraries for when they have the aux cord in the car.
My music taste is pretty all over the place, which helps with a project like this, but I can't claim it's as broad as I would like when trying to represent the music tastes of nine different people. So I would love to solicit some ideas from people--genres, artists, even specific songs. You name it.
Here's generally the vibes I've been curating so far, though I'm not entirely married to all of them:
Frodo -- Indie, acoustic, folk? Probably some instrumentals. Chill beats to carry a cursed artifact to.
Sam -- Generally pretty upbeat. For sure some really traditional folk influences but also like. Folk rock. Should be an extremely feel-good playlist.
Merry -- Nerd music, to put it simply. Folk and filk, as well as some of the found-filk folks out there like Hank Green, probably.
Pippin -- Pop music! He's here to have a good time. Would especially love some input from the Gen Z crowd here since my pop knowledge is a little dated for the youngest member of the Fellowship. What Chappell Roan song would be his favorite.
Boromir -- He is puzzling me. I am keeping in mind that he should have some like. Elder millennial vibes. Currently have Green Day, etc on there but I'm trying to decide if that works.
Aragorn -- Dad rock, plus some modern rock. Think about your dad's road trip playlist (I know mine has several) and you're getting the right picture.
Legolas -- Pop and some indie/acoustic songs. Also a little musical theater. I'll be honest I'm making his eclectic on purpose. Definitely a little cheesy, aro/ace jams encouraged.
Gimli -- Metal, industrial, classical. There is no bigger Trans-Siberian Orchestra fan. Possibly also some labor songs, though I'm thinking more like metal/rock covers.
Gandalf -- Prog rock and other wizard music. I am doing something very dumb and silly and putting classic rock songs with meta references to LotR on his (ex: Led Zeppelin's Misty Mountain Hop), but other suggestions are good too.
Please feel free to totally contradict some of these vibes though. Ideally some of these playlists with be a little more all over the place than I would usually lean towards, since the idea is to represent someone's music taste, not make a true character playlist.
So! Help me out here. What do you all think each Fellowship member would listen to?

Note
Hi how are you? I love your writings❤️ Can I get a romantic matchup with LOTR, HOBBIT, Harry Potter, Marvel? I am 25. She/Her. I can match with a man or woman. I have short dark brown curly hair and hazel eyes. I have white skin, my height is around 1.65 and I'm curvy.
I'm generally introverted and cold-blooded. I'm stubborn. I'm generally pretty patient, but when I run out of patience I can get very grumpy. I'm a bit of a pessimist. I don't talk much outside unless necessary and prefer to observe. I am a good listener. To outsiders, I seem strict, distant and sometimes a little scary, but to those around me, I am very talkative, friendly, affectionate and fun. I'm also a good secret keeper, tell me anything and I'll take it to my grave. I am a faithful and loyal person. I'm a perfectionist. I always like to have everything orderly and under control, but sometimes it can be very challenging. I'm independent, I try not to get help for anything and I don't like to fit into certain stereotypes. I am always respectful and even interested in opposing views. I have a hard time voicing my opinions on anything, which can sometimes make me seem rude or disrespectful, but I really don't mean any harm. I'm a nerdy girl and I'm okay with that.✨️
I live in my own world. I love drawing, watching TV series and movies, and listening to music. I also love writing. I love learning new things about any subject. I love art, literature, philosophy, history and mythology. My favorite colors are black and green. I can listen to any genre of songs I like depending on my mood. But some of my Favorites are Diary of Dreams, The Gazette, The Neighbourhood, Chase Atlantic, One Republic, Marina and The Diamonds, Paris Paloma, Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, Hozier, Melanie Martinez, Mitski, AC/DC and Iron Maiden. My favorite TV series is Hannibal. I love thrillers, true crime, detective and mystery, fantasy and sci-fi. I think these are the things that come to my mind right now... thank you! I hope you have a good day❤️
Hi! I am so sorry that I got to this so late! I feel terrible! <3
But, I hope you like your matchups!
{Trying a different layout}
Romantic Matchup; LOTR, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and Marvel
~~~
Lord Of The Rings;
Aragorn -
Tumblr media
You met Aragorn at the very beginning, and despite being a lady, you were personally invited by Lord Elrond himself to join the meeting to see who would take the ring to Mordor.
You didn't really talk much, or at all, but you observed, being a good listener; though, as one by one spoke up, debating, your attention went straight to the mysterious, tall, dark, and handsome stranger whose voice you really liked - he was handsome, as said, and he was bringing up some good points.
Hands clasped together in your lap, you watched as people began to argue, and you were just a smidge annoyed.
Well, who knew you were going to become part of the Fellowship Of The Ring?
It was difficult at the beginning of the journey. Gimli and Boromir were pretty adamant that the journey was no place for a lady - far too dangerous, they said!
But Aragorn, you had learned his name, stood up for you, bringing up the fact that Lord Elrond himself asked you to join, that they should all trust his judgment.
Well, you showed them, on more than one occasion, that you were a wise and strong person.
Now, throughout the journey, you had slowly, slowly gotten used to the people around you. The Hobbits were easy to befriend, honestly.
But, at some point, you had grown comfortable in their presence, enough that you had grown to become more talkative and friendly.
Though, it was different with Aragorn. You didn't know if it was just you, but you thought that maybe there was something different in the way he spoke to you than he did with the others. Maybe it was just you...
Maybe...
Well, it turns out that Aragorn was quite taken with you, having caught his eyes the moment you joined the meeting in Rivendell; dressed beautifully, presence respectful, and eyes shimmering with a certain intelligence and strength that captured his interest almost instantly.
And his interest had only grown the more he got to meet you, get to know, and understand you; not only were you intelligent, respectful, strong, and understanding, but you were also loyal and independent - something Aragorn admired greatly.
As the journey continues, minus the orcs and whatever troubles you all run into, you and Aragorn's bond begins to grow the more you spend together.
From late nights of keeping watch sharing your favorite stories and books to recalling your favorite topics in history; there are even nights when you talk the night away about everything your heart desires, until you fall asleep, your head resting on his shoulder.
Aragorn didn't have the heart to wake you...
Despite you being an incredibly good fighter and defender, Aragorn always makes sure that you are alright after an attack from orcs or something. You do the same, your eyes at the end of a fight would search for each other, small faint smiles of relief on your faces.
In the end, Aragorn gives you the best room while you and the rest of the Fellowship stay in his kingdom after he is crowned king. Your room is one of the biggest, and close to his room, in case you need anything.
He makes sure that you have everything that you could possibly need. Someone to wait on you in case you need something, need help changing, a bath to be drawn, a snack, anything. And do not worry, you are not a burden. Aragorn would do anything for you.
Another thing; Aragorn gifts you lavish clothing, in green and black, that you are comfortable in. The sight of the new article always brings a smile to your face and a rush of blood to your cheeks. And, of course, he always compliments you when he sees you.
Whilst you stay, Aragorn often finds you in the library, reading, drawing, or just admiring the view outside - he often joins you, to talk, laugh, or just spend time in your amazing company.
Aragorn finally confesses his feelings and admiration for you after you.
"You have been my strength through every shadow and trial - my heart has long been yours, though I have been too much a fool to say it."
Well, let's just say, that you didn't end up leaving after that.
You and Aragorn work seamlessly together, both of you valuing independence and the quiet strength that comes with keeping order. Patience is a shared virtue, though he is perhaps more steadfast than yours.
Your friendly and affectionate nature balances his quiet reserve, while your stubborn loyalty earns his deepest respect.
Even in moments when your pessimism clouds your thoughts, he admires your unwavering commitment to those you care for, finding strength in the fire that drives you.
~~~
The Hobbit;
Thorin Oakenshield -
Tumblr media
You had run into the Dwarves and one Hobbit when they were getting attacked by the spiders in Mirkwood.
You were heading to Mirkwood - Thorin thought that was suspicious - but instead of just letting them suffer through spiders, you helped them cut out of webs and stab spiders to death; you were truly skilled fighter, it was no wonder most of the Company wanted to keep you.
Though you were a bit hesitant and distant - you met up with them, fighting off orcs, jumping in an empty barrel, and holding onto Bilbo so he wouldn't drown.
As you were all racing down the raging river, you didn't know if you were having fun or not. More like worrying over the whole group and making sure after every small waterfall that you counted each Dwarf.
One, two, three, ah, okay, all accounted for, all alive...
Thorin, even though you helped him and his family/friends out of danger, he didn't really know what to think of you. His blue eyes would watch you, observing you, as you also observed your surrounding, whilst also listening to the Dwarves about their stories and adventures.
He didn't know what to think of you at the very moment, but he thanked you for your help, to himself.
But you had been able to bond with most of the other Dwarves, like Fili and Kili, which consisted of laughter, shared stories, and affectionate hugs.
And when Kili was in pain, though you worried and your mind thought only of the worst, you held his hand.
These actions made the King Under The Mountain reconsider you for a moment. Maybe there was something different about you.
That night, as you curled close to the fire that night before he and the rest of the Company - minus a few - left for Erebor, Thorin found a spare blanket and placed it upon your sleeping form.
And only after the defeat of Smaug, and after the war - and everyone surviving - did he finally realize that maybe the 'something different' about you was actually because you might've been his One; he just was too stubborn to truly see it.
This new realization hit him hard, and at first, the King was scared. He had wished that he had gotten to know you more, had spoken to you more.
Well, you were here now, partying with the rest - of men, dwarves, elves, and Hobbits alike. Maybe, this was his chance to push aside his stubbornness and brooding and speak to you.
He made his move, surprising you by asking you to join him for a drink, where he gave you a goblet of red wine. And for the next hour or so, you spoke among yourselves, on the sidelines of the raging party. *Disco music.*
There, you and Thorin spoke about the music, your favorite instruments, books your loved to read, and more. All the while, you didn't seem to notice the way Thorin's eyes softened as you rambled slightly.
At the end of the first night of many more nights of partying and celebrating the return of their home, Thorin finally spoke up.
"You have fought beside me with a courage that humbles even a king - I would wish it that you stay here in Erebor a while longer, so I may properly show my gratitude."
It is while you are staying longer in Erebor that he finally reveals to you that you are his One.
To keep a long story short, all while courting, you and Thorin would sit by the fire and read quietly together, take walks through Erebor's halls, write sweet letters to each other, and Thorin would braid a piece of your hair, clasping it with his homemade, one-of-a-kind bead.
You and Thorin share a bond forged in mutual respect and quiet understanding.
He admires your love for reading and thirst for knowledge, seeing it as a strength that complements his vision for Erebor.
Even your perfectionist tendencies, though sometimes a point of contention, earn his respect - he sees in you someone who strives for greatness, much like himself.
Your unwavering support has become a pillar he relies on.
~~~
Harry Potter;
Remus Lupin -
Tumblr media
You and Remus first met at Hogwarts as students, though your friendship didn’t blossom immediately.
You were a quiet, observant presence, often keeping to yourself. He was aware of you from a distance, admiring your calm, controlled demeanor, which differed from his more lighthearted friends.
It was a nice different.
Although you were distant from new and strange people, your shared classes often brought you together.
You both preferred studying in quiet corners of the library, where Remus noticed how you worked meticulously, seeing how much you loved to learn not only from books but also from lessons.
Finally, after you had both gotten use to each other, you began studying together in the library.
You even started correcting his notes.
When Sirius and James found out about that, they teased him.
Over time, you became close enough for him to see the softer, affectionate side you reserved for those you trusted.
You’d often listen patiently as he confided in you, especially during stressful times.
Full moon times. It had taken him a year and a half to tell you he was a werewolf, and he was incredibly nervous that you would tell everyone or just not be his friend anymore.
He was scared that you would look at him in disgust.
He would miss your hugs as hellos in the mornings, he would miss the peaceful conversations regarding your interests.
He would miss the way your face would light up at the mention of your favorite muggle movies or show, or how you would ramble beautifully on and on about myths and philosophy. He wouldn't dare stop you.
He loved the sound of your voice.
He was a bit of a pessimist himself.
Surprisingly, and to his shock, he found great comfort in your reaction. When he finally gathered the courage to tell you his secret, his heart raced, waiting for the look of disgust he feared you’d give him.
But instead, you remained calm, simply listening, your eyes thoughtful yet soft. You placed a hand on his, a simple gesture that spoke volumes, steadying him as you always had in the quiet way that had drawn him to you from the start.
“You’re still Remus." You had told him. “The rest doesn’t change who you are.”
Years after graduation, you both found yourselves back at Hogwarts, now as professors.
Remus was pleasantly surprised to see you again, finding it easy to pick up where you two had left off.
Your no-nonsense attitude and perfectionism made you a strict professor, yet students respected you for your dedication and fairness. And also quite enjoyed that you would give them little treats and snacks after long quizzes or tests.
Remus often visited your office to chat after classes. You’d sometimes scold him for his relaxed teaching style, though he found it endearing.
Despite your -sometimes - grumpy demeanor, you cared deeply, which he always noticed in the way you’d subtly check on his health and workload.
Especially when the full moons were around the bend.
Remus would find chocolate on his desk in DADA.
And you'd find books on your favorite topics on yours.
After long days of teaching, you and Remus would often sit by the fire in his quarters or yours, sharing tea or hot chocolate. The two of you would talk about myths, Muggle literature, and your favorite Muggle music, losing track of time until the early hours of the morning.
It reminded you of how you and Remus would sit in the Common Room studying until the wee hours of the morning.
He loved the way you spoke passionately about the things that you were interested in, and he’d always encouraged you to keep talking, no matter how tired he was.
You’d both spend hours in the library or his office, quietly reading together. He’d occasionally glance up from his book to watch you, marveling at how beautiful you looked when lost in thought. When you found an interesting passage, you’d excitedly share it with him, and he’d always listen intently.
Adding onto the topic of full moons; on the nights leading up to the full moon, you’d make sure he had everything he needed. You’d sit with him if he was feeling anxious. After the full moon, you’d bring him breakfast and sit with him while he rested, healing, reading aloud from his favorite books, or telling him stories to help him relax.
On particularly difficult days, you’d end up falling asleep together on the couch in either of your quarters, surrounded by books and papers for grading. He’d wake up first, brushing a strand of hair from your face, marveling at how peaceful you looked.
Those quiet moments reminded him just how much he loved you and how lucky he felt to have you by his side.
You and Remus are great together because you balance each other out perfectly - his calm, steady nature complements your quiet strength, while your loyalty and understanding provide him with the comfort and support he needs.
Together, you share a deep, unspoken bond, rooted in mutual respect, affection, and a quiet love that grows stronger with each and every passing day.
Marvel;
Natasha Romanoff -
Tumblr media
As Avengers, you and Natasha work seamlessly together. Ever since the beginning, when she wasn't on solo missions or with Clint, you were with her.
Your cold-blooded efficiency in battle complements her own calculated and lethal style.
You’re both perfectionists who thrive on order and control, often planning out every detail of a mission to ensure success. While you can be distant or strict with new recruits, Natasha sees through your tough exterior and knows that beneath it lies a fiercely loyal and caring partner.
You're not one to speak much during operations, preferring to observe and stay silent, but Natasha appreciates the way you always anticipate the next move.
You’re skilled in hand-to-hand combat, just as skilled with weapons.
You’re not just observant on the battlefield but a force to be reckoned with. You’ve honed your combat skills, and even Natasha, with all her experience, finds herself impressed.
She often asks to spar with you, in which it often ends in a tie or the both of you winning the same amount of times.
Away from the chaos of the battlefield, you might not be as expressive or outgoing as some of the other Avengers, in the beginning. It takes you a bit to open up, but when you do, you have become friends with all of them.
You are talkative, laughing along, having fun with them; along with being affectionate, joking punches to the arm, or hugs goodbye.
However, when not spending time with the team, a quiet night spent watching movies or reading is how you like to spend your nights. Unless you are dragged to one of Tony's parties.
Natasha being similar to you, needs time to really get to know you, see what makes you tic, before she can truly let herself be vulnerable around you. And you have proven to her that you were worthy enough, and trustful enough for her to break out of her own shell.
She finds herself finding you around the tower, joining you in the kitchen to grab a snack, or even joining in when you put on your favorite show; Hannibal.
This friendly bonding becomes more and more often, almost weekly you and Natasha find yourselves spending more time together, even time with just the two of you.
The more you spent together, the more the bond between the two of you began to bloom into something more, something beautiful.
"You know... I think I trust you more than anyone else." She would speak up randomly as you both sat against the headboard of your bed, watching your favorite movie.
"Even Stark?" You would ask.
"Yeah, even him." She would reply, her smile matching yours.
Before you knew it, everything would shift.
From small, gentle brushes of the fingers as either pass by or a rare, soft smile just for each other... It was obvious that there was something happening between you two.
On lazy days - not really, the both of you end up in the gym sparring most lazy days - but if you aren't in the gym; pushing for each other to be better, you and Nat would sit in quieter corners of the tower, away from the hustle of the others.
She'd sit beside you as you read, her hand resting on your leg or her head resting on your shoulder. She would sit and listen to you read, or when you weren't reading aloud, she would rest her eyes, maybe even nap; the soft sound of Paris Paloma and Lana del Rey in the background
As a couple, Natasha respects your boundaries and your need for space, but when she needs you, you’re always there— - strong and reliable. In return, she supports you, offering her own quiet form of affection.
You’re never truly alone.
You balance each other, and neither you nor Nat would have it any other way.
Hi! Boromir for the mystical magical saturday event pls! ❤️
Hi! Thank you so much! Hurt my own feelings with this one, so sorry in advance.
The Prompt: Placing a Kiss on Someone’s Fingertips
You sat alone in the silence, your fingers twisting together as every horrible thought swirled through your mind. The plushness of the mattress and the softness of the blankets did nothing to bring you comfort. You didn’t want to be like this, you really didn’t, but you couldn’t help it. When Boromir told you of his father’s will for him to travel to Rivendell you wanted to be okay. You wanted to wish him well on his journey and let him go with a smile, patiently awaiting his return to you. Because he was Boromir and Boromir always came back to you. No matter what danger he walked into, he always walked out. And yes, Rivendell was far, but it was in the opposite direction of danger. He would probably be safer on his journey than you would be staying in Minas Tirith. Yet, you couldn’t shake the bad feeling from your chest. You started picking at the skiing around your fingernails, small stinging pains spreading through your fingertips.
“My love.” Large hands enclosed your own, stopping the pain almost immediately, and you looked up to see your husband kneeling before you. He gave your hands a gentle squeeze, “Are you alright?” You slowly nodded as you let your eyes wander away from his frame. Your nodding turned into a head shake as you felt a sob bubbling up in your chest. You pushed it down, your gaze moving to meet Boromir’s once again. He stared at you, waiting, as his thumbs moved gently over your fingers.
“I want to ask you to stay, but I know that I cannot.” Boromir’s eyes softened and you closed your own, unable to stand him looking at you. You felt the pressure of his hands lessen as he moved to hold them up to his lips. His thumb pressed lightly to your palm, Boromir pressed his lips to your fingertips. Your eyes flew open, meeting his at once.
Boromir pulled back only slightly, “I will come back to you.” Pulling your hands from his grip, you placed them on his cheeks, his stubble rough on your fingertips. He leaned into your touch, his eyes never leaving yours.
You shook your head, “Boromir…”
He gripped your wrists gently, “Have I not always returned to you?” You nodded as you let him move your hands away from his cheeks. He placed a kiss on your palm, “Then believe me when I say that I will return to you.” He pressed another kiss to your fingertips, “I promise.”
the fellowship tries to set you up on a date
a/n: i'm skipping the line of requests for a bit to post this for @queenmeriadoc 's birthday since it was my wife's request hihi 💛 anyway it's probably chaotic but I hope you enjoy regardless! It's platonic between you and the characters, but your crush is gender neutral ☺️
Tumblr media
Aragorn & Boromir: now these two have sort of opposite kinds of advice and plans… while Aragorn is a very “what is meant to happen will happen” kind of romantic, Boromir likes to go out and make things happen, and they can’t really agree on how to get you together with that one person you have great chemistry with… Aragorn will hint, either in conversation with you or with your crush, that you should write a poem to each other, or just ‘accidentally’ happen to be in the same place at the same time, especially if it’s a more secluded or romantic place. And Aragorn will also somehow try to arrange this for you. Boromir, on the other hand, is more the kind to go for it and to advise you to do the same. However, rejection is SCARY so maybe you’re a bit hesitant, but Boromir certainly won’t hesitate to not-so-subtly drop your name in the conversation with your crush, or to just be like, “oh, you like them? just go and say so” … maybe it’s best to listen to both of their advice to a certain extent.
Legolas & Gimli: they might not agree on too many things, but they do agree that you should go and braid your crush’s hair, or ask them to braid yours, which can definitely turn out to be an intimate moment. but, like I said, they agree on little else - Legolas will try to get you to go on a walk in the woods with your crush, and the darker forest the better because then you have an excuse to be close to that person and be protective/be protected. Gimli would much prefer if you went and asked them if they want to practice sparring with you or help you better your sword fighting or something of the like. Actually Legolas would do an almost disastrous job when he goes to talk to your crush and drop hints that they should ask you for a walk or something… the crush isn’t even sure what Legolas is playing at, but Gimli on the other hand can be quite a sweet-talker (remember Galadriel), and he ends up smoothly persuading your crush to ask you to do something together. Furthermore, he doesn’t let Legolas live it down.
Sam + Frodo: okay they’re both maybe a little shy so they wouldn’t instantly want to pull the strings too much, directly, between you and your crush, but they’re more than willing to help you drop some hints about how you feel! Sam is definitely going to suggest to you that maybe you give flowers to your crush or cook them their favorite meal, and eventually he will, every now and then, mention your favorite flower/food/dessert to your crush in order to nudge them a little bit to get it for you. Frodo is also for sure in favor of small gifts, especially the ones that show that you know your crush and that you listen to them when they talk about their interests. Sometimes in front of that person Frodo will drop a small compliment about you like, “Oh, [Y/N] looks really lovely today, don’t you think?” overall both of them would be so supportive of you and sweet, but they wouldn’t meddle too much and try to influence the actions of your crush directly, but they will always encourage you and hype you up!
Merry & Pippin: BESTIE. good luck, that’s all I’m gonna say. Number one suggestion they’d have for you to get your crush’s attention is PULL A PRANK ON THEM. Or they would go to that person and suggest that they pull a prank on you, because why not? At one point, one of them would definitely accidentally slip up and say something among the lines of “[Y/N] really likes you” and then oops… something that they would do a lot is shamelessly compliment you in front of your crush, whether it’s your looks, humor, strength, intelligence; but you had to tell them to tone it down because it seemed like they were in love with you at one point. For sure they would somehow arrange for a little situation in which oh-so-accidentally you and your crush end up locked in the same room together or something. And you can’t even be mad when you hear them laughing from behind the door!
AN: MY BAD, I SKIPPED OVER FARAMIR COMPLETELY & ONLY SAW BOROMIR 😭
Summary: It is the final morning that Boromir will spend with his wife. He thinks about their time together & have one final moment together.
The two of us woke just as the sun was rising.
I pulled her closer to my chest, trying to memorize everything about her.
The way how her hair fanned out over her pillows. The way how she sighed my name in her sleep as she turned in my arms and placed her face in my chest.
I placed my face in her hair, and breathed in just her scent.
Lavender and vanilla.
Which brings me back to how I first met her.
She was a baker in Gondor, just like her parents before her.
My mother would take my brother and I to her family's bakery, and there she was, just a girl in pigtails who would be showing us all the different baked goods.
Her and I are the same age, and I knew right then and there that she and I were meant to be together, even though my father did not approve of her.
When he announced it was time for me to be married, I knew what he was trying to do.
That night, under the White Tree of Gondor, with the only witness being my brother Faramir, her and I married.
Of course my father was furious, but for once I did not care. Not when I had shining star next to my side.
"You are thinking quit hard husband." Her teasing voice brought me back this very moment.
She pulled back and looked up at me as I moved her hair from her face.
Trying once more to memorize everything about her.
I kissed her forehead, and closed my eyes.
"I am sorry if my thinking woke you up." I joked back.
Tumblr media
"Mmm, that is okay, now want to tell me what you were thinking about?"
She asked me as she pulled away, slipping out of my arms to grab some left over ale that was left forgotten as we spent the night wrapped up in eachothers bodies.
"Just us. Meeting you for the first time when we were small children. Us getting married when father announced it was to be married."
I heard her giggle as she took recalled how furious he was.
"And yet, even with all the gold he offered me, I am still here, putting up with your stubbornness and his childlike behavior." She handed me a cup of ale as she slid back into our bed.
I drank the ale down in one gulp it seemed, placing the cup on the table next to our bed.
I pulled her atop of me, her squealing with delight at my playfulness.
"You must love my, my dear wife."
"I do Boromir, I really do." She said as she kissed my chest, working her way down my body to my cock that is hard underneath the blanket.
She flung the blanket off of me, and I shivered at the nip in the air, but my body seemed to heat up with the way how she was looking at me between my spread thighs.
Her hand grasped my cock, making me moan.
"Shh, don't want everyone to hear you, my sweet husband."
I had a retort that was cut off as she wrapped her lips around the tip of my cock and started to suck.
My hands fisted the sheets as I watched and felt her move her head up and down my cock.
Soft gasps fell from my lips as she took more and more of me into her mouth.
My hips bucked, forcing more of my cock down her throat, making her gag around my cock.
She looked up at me, tears in her eyes as she pulled her head up slowly until I fell from her mouth.
If she continued, I would surely spill in her mouth, and I did not want that.
I pulled her up by her arms, laying her across my chest.
"I need you." I all but groaned as I reached for my cock between our two bodies, as she raised her hips just enough for me to slip into her warmth.
I watched as her mouth fell open, just like it does every time I stretch her out around my length.
"Boromir." She gasped as she started to move back and forth, her nails digging into my chest, making sure to leave her own mark on me, like she has done on my heart.
My name falling from her lips is all I could hear as I put her legs over my shoulders and folded her in half. My hips pounding her into our bed as I make her fall apart for me over and over again.
I slammed my mouth against hers, moaning into our kiss as her pussy clenched tight around my cock for the final time.
I could hold back any longer as I moaned loudly into the kiss as my hips stuttered before finally stopping as I filled her with my cum.
My body shook as it seemed to go on forever, my eyes closed as I savored the feeling before I had to leave.
Which the time was coming as I heard my brother at my door as I had her screaming my name as I fucked her from behind.
I collapsed on top of her, my cock softening inside of her.
"I don't want you to go." She softly said.
I rolled off of her, and looked down at her as I laid on my side.
"I know, but I must do this for not only us, but for all of Middle Earth." I gave her a gentle kiss before I got up to get ready.
My family and friends stood in a line as I walked to my horse.
Faramir was standing next to her, his back straight as he looked at ahead.
I stood in front of him and leaned in. "Take care of her brother." I said to him.
He gulped and nodded his yes.
I hugged him by suprise as he wrapped his arms around me.
"I will miss you as well. Never forget that."
"I will miss you too Boromir."
When I got to her, no words needed to be said that wasn't already said between us.
I cupped her face and kissed her, hoping to convey behind that one kiss how much I love her.
"Come back to me, Boromir."
I didn't say anything as I couldn't promise her I would.
As the arrows peirce through my chest, I knew I was not going to make it.
The last thought I had was of her and only her.
My last words were her name, and only her name.
My wife.
My sunshine.
My star light.
My one true love.
Who I will meet again one day.
i finished reading the fellowship of the ring for the first time!!!
• one lasting impression i have is that i love boromir so much. when it started snowing on the mountain, he was so concerned for the halflings, it was so sweet. there were many instances like that where both he and aragorn fiercely defended the hobbits, or carried them, and i may pass away if i think about it too much.
• b-bill… 🥺 i was genuinely so sad for sam to have to send his beloved pony away to certain danger. if i didn’t already know from tumblr tolkien lore that bill lives, i would be really sad right now.
• damn, the movies really did gimli dirty, didn’t they? (don’t get me wrong, i love the movies and i have little to no problems with them) but literally no one wanted to go to moria because they knew how dangerous it was going to be. in the movies, it was like gimli was trying to convince the company to go that way. just a difference i noticed!
• i just put the book down, just now, to come type this bullet point because i needed a breather. i am currently, right now, on the edge of my fucking seat!!! (im laying in bed but you know what i mean)
my heart is beating out of my chest! like, i know what’s gonna happen, but they’re sooo close 😫 imagine never having read the books, and the first movie comes out, and you don’t know that gandalf comes back. that would be so insane/devastating.
• lmfao because of that one post on tumblr “when watching fotr with your friends and the balrog shows up you can tell them, this is where legolas starts screaming in the book” but friends. he’s not screaming. he’s wailing it (honestly valid, i would react the exact same way but for a minute just picture movie legolas wailing upon the arrival of the balrog and tell me that’s not funny).
• i like that we get more detail and interaction with the elves in lorien. book galadriel comes across softer, friendlier, less scary (maybe that’s just because movie galadriel scared me with that one scene when i was younger).
• i kept waiting for boromir to die, and i was like, he’s (tolkien is) running out of time here! how can we get to that part AND adequately say goodbye to him?
when i had like 5 pages left i was like yeah there’s no way. i went to my husband all stressed about it and he told me it doesn’t happen until the second book! i was like ohhhhh, okay.
• i can’t wait to start the two towers! of the movies, it’s my favorite and i’m interested to see how that differs.
Okay, so its really late where I live and I got an intrusive thought. If Boromir survived, and would marry someone. Like who would he marry, what type of person would they be? What would they're love dynamic be like? Write in the comments, I would love to see your ideas ❤
OKAY so I found this list of OC couple questions (I hope they're also okay to use for OC x Canon couples), and I'm going to answer them for Boromir and Aeroniel because I love them ❤️
I probably repeat myself like crazy, but I hope if you choose to read this you enjoy it 🥰
Tumblr media
1. What were their first impressions of each other?
Their first impressions of each other were very positive. Though she was slightly intimidated by him at first, Aeroniel quickly found Boromir to be a very comforting presence. There was just something about him that felt so... safe and warm, and she hadn't met someone like that in years (not that she had met many people, because she was kind of a shut-in). Talking to him felt easy.
Boromir thought that Aeroniel's tendency to ramble was very sweet. He also liked the fact that at first, she had no idea who he was, so she was speaking to him like a person, not looking up to him like he was on a pedestal. I kind of headcanon that Boromir has struggled to have proper friendships with people other than Faramir because everyone sees him as like... a 'hero', and no one really gets to know him as himself. And even though Aeroniel gets all awkward and formal when she first realises who he is, once they start seeing each other more often she treats him like a person rather than a symbol, and he loves that.
2. Is it a casual relationship, or true love? Or somewhere in between?
True love, for sure. I'm too sappy to have them be anything else. They get married, raise their four children together, and love each other for the rest of their lives.
3. What was each of their 'oh shit, I have feelings for them' moment?
The first moment that Boromir realised his feelings for Aeroniel was when she gave him a scarf that she had knitted just for him. Like she gave him the scarf, said something about not wanting him to be cold or fall ill, and he was floored. It wasn't until the situation outlined in Q.5 that he realised he couldn't live without her, however.
For Aeroniel, it was quite an easy realisation. There was no big moment that solidified how she felt, all of a sudden she was like "oh I love him".
4. Did either of them fight their feelings, or was it easy to accept?
Both of them accepted their feelings after realising them, but I also think that they both struggled with believing their feelings would be reciprocated by the other. I imagine they bring that up later and both of them are just baffled, like... "what do you mean you didn't think I could be in love with you? Of course I am, you're amazing!!"
5. When was their first 'I love you'? What prompted it? If neither have said it yet, why?
Okay, so this is very random, but sometimes I like to take little bits of lore from different sources and mix them all together. I read on Boromir's Tolkien Gateway page that in The Lord of the Rings Online, there's a storyline about Denethor betrothing Boromir to Lothíriel. I didn't like the idea at first, but after a little bit of thought I was like "oh, I can use this". So basically, Boromir had never imagined himself getting married. He'd never had strong enough feelings for someone to make him think of marrying, and his position kept him very busy anyway.
Then he met Aeroniel, and he started to think about what it might be like to be married to her... of course, that would never happen. Then, his father started talking about marrying him to Lothíriel, and it terrified Boromir. If he was going to marry, he wanted it to be for love (and not to his cousin), but Denethor was not listening. After a brief talk with Faramir, he practically bolted to Aeroniel's home to tell her how he felt about her. He told her that he loved her, and that he wanted her to be his wife. Aeroniel accepts, of course. They ended up getting married in secret a few days later, with Faramir as the only witness.
6. Who's the big spoon and who's the little spoon?
Boromir's the big spoon and Aeroniel's the little spoon, but I think they're more likely to cuddle with Aeroniel resting her head on Boromir's chest ❤️
7. What was the biggest obstacle to their relationship?
Denethor. Expanding on the things I spoke about in Q.5.: The plan was to eventually tell Denethor about the marriage after a few months, but then Boromir had to go to Rivendell and when his horn washed up everyone thought he was dead for a while. Then, when he came back to Minas Tirith with Gandalf and Pippin and everyone found out that he was alive, Boromir informed his father that he was married. Denethor was probably too far into his madness to really take much notice of Aeroniel though, but I'm sure he'd get a few insults in before his death.
Also, there was the distance between them after Boromir left for Rivendell. Part of me thinks that Aeroniel was pretty mad at Boromir because he insisted on going, so when she hears news of his 'death', she's not only devastated but she feels guilty because she had been mad at him the last time they spoke. All was forgiven when he came back though ❤️
8. What drew them to each other the most?
I kind of talked about this in the other questions, but Boromir is drawn to Aeroniel because she treats him like a person rather than a statue on a pedestal. Like yes, she admires him and thinks he's amazing, but she understands that he's just a man with emotions and vulnerabilities like anyone else. He knows that he can talk to her without any judgement.
What draws Aeroniel to Boromir is similar, in the vein of being able to speak without judgement. After her parents died, she was raised by her uncle who mistreated her and made her feel like there was something wrong with her (for obvious reasons there's no diagnosis in universe, but she's most likely AuDHD), which led to her shutting herself away even after he died. Her and Boromir met each other by chance, but he gave her a reason to let the world in again.
9. How long did they know each other before developing feelings?
They did start developing feelings pretty quickly, to be honest. When they met something just clicked, something that neither of them had really experienced with other people before. While it wasn't exactly 'love at first sight', it was close - though this is Middle Earth, and people fall in love at first sight all the time 😆
10. What is their favourite quality about each other?
For Boromir, it's how passionate Aeroniel gets about her interests. Like he could have no idea what she's talking about but it's the enthusiasm that gets him. For example he knows pretty much nothing about art, but he knows how happy it makes Aeroniel, and he could easily listen to her talk for hours.
For Aeroniel, her favourite thing about Boromir is how he can be so strong but so gentle at the same time. She feels safe around him, both physically and emotionally, and knows that he will never mistreat her or judge her for who she is.
Do you want to answer this question about Boromir for me?
What was Boromir's relationship like with his maternal uncle Imrahil?
It's okay if you don't! Maybe this one will interest you more:
What is Boromir's pet peeve?
Bye!
Tumblr media
HI I will always answer Boromir asks!!!!! I think I have some posts floating around somewhere (my tagging system is an inconsistent ✨nightmare✨) but I’ve always held true that Gondorian culture mirrors Medieval/Renaissance Noble Culture, so as young nobility Boromir would’ve been sent to serve as Imrahil’s squire (and Faramir as well)
as such I think he has a genuinely very strong relationship with Imrahil! I think he probably had a tendency to be overly serious when Faramir wasn’t around (lots of expectations on his shoulders even as a boy), so I imagine it took a bit for him to warm up to Imrahil. I also think he has this sort of expectation of the other shoe dropping— “he’s nice to me, but will he treat Fara the same way father does?”
+ then ofc Faramir comes to Imrahil’s court when he turns seven to serve as his squire as well and Imrahil is nothing but kind to Faramir too, which I think would be when Boromir kind of breathes that sigh of relief and allows himself to relax around Imrahil. — and like, I also love Imrahil being just genuinely kind and caring to both the brothers, because I love to torment Faramir, and I have my own Complex Parental Issues + see a lot of Denethor in my own Nightmare Parent. (hell world.) It is truly genuinely awful to hear “they love you even though it seems like they hate you, just give them time, they’ll recognize it in the end” when you know what a parent’s love should ACTUALLY feel like from someone else. Parents Be Normal Challenge: Impossible.
anyways generally speaking a squire would finish out their training and become a fully-minted knight at 21– I suspect Boromir would’ve been called back to Minas Tirith around age 19, and I do think he kept up a correspondence with his uncle. At first to get reports about Faramir (because gods know Denethor is. Well.) and then just to genuinely stay in touch with the man. I think Boromir makes a point to come visit Faramir and his uncle + cousins when Lothíriel is born.
also, I talk about this in the costuming document but there’s such an interesting element to Denethor’s costuming of like, mirroring the brothers’ motifs but More. Grander, More Intricate, Richer. It’s easy to overlook bc so much of his clothing is black but even that: true black fabric was EXCEEDINGLY expensive, never mind the sorts of intricate weaves and things like his scabbard and full length hauberk. like such a key visual element to Denethor is literally just Showing His Sons Up. and im insane about it, truly, but imagine growing up being in competition with your own father in this really insidious, subtle way. You’re the Golden Son, the measuring stick by which Faramir fails, you’re held on this pedestal and Yet. your father is always Better Than You. Your successes are not your own, they are his (but your failures? oh, those are all yours).
yet then there’s Imrahil. who loves Boromir because Boromir is his nephew and that is enough. who would love Boromir whether he succeeded or failed, because at least Boromir is trying. argh. I don’t think Boromir shows it well but I do think Imrahil means a lot to him, and was a fundamental influence on him and how he treats others. not to say Boromir would be unkind without Imrahil’s influence, but rather that he probably wouldn’t be quite as well-adjusted lmao
anyways, as for pet peeves..
I don’t think there’s a looooot that actually bothers him? I think it would more be a breaking of routine. it’s sth I’ve touched on in one of my fics (as sth instilled in him by Imrahil, actually! + it’s sth I myself picked up from my dad lol), but I think when he gets the chance to sleep in a bed he makes it perfectly each morning. and I think there are other little rituals he follows carefully. packing his bedroll properly if he’s on the move, caring for his blade and other equipment, washing up as best he can. I think as long as he can keep up with his own little rituals he can let most things roll off his back.
I also think if he does get snappy, once he’s returned to his like, baseline level of routine he’s the first to go “wow I was acting like an idiot, that was a stupid thing to be annoyed about” and apologize. The man has one younger brother by blood and three younger cousins all born while he was serving as Imrahil’s squire, so I think his tolerance level for Annoying Gremlin Shenanigans is very high most of the time. just don’t interrupt his routines lmao
