Do you ever think about the Shou and Serizawa dynamic. Because I am thinking about it. Loudly

HEAD IN HANDS. ALL THE TIME….!!!! I’ve been thinking about this ask all day I’m so glad I can answer it now.

Their Claw dynamic specifically GRHGRHR. Serizawa was recruited around the pivotal point where Shou was starting to reconsider his views on his dad/Claw as well as his own convictions/psychic power. I like to wonder if Serizawa's presence as someone Compassionate but incredibly weak-willed, unconfident, and Dependent (something that Toichiro specifically takes advantage of) partially fuelled Shou's independence/leadership/pro-activeness.

Specifically I view it as though Shou experienced Self-Recognition Through The Other (derogatory) and goes "I CANNOT be like that guy." Which gets even more fun to consider when you see how Shou tends to give Serizawa more grace than the other Super 5/Claw members. Enough to try and reason with him, at least.

Specifically talking about these panels. Sorry for bringing them up again, it'll happen repeatedly.

Anyway. Shou is trying to convince Serizawa specifically because he thinks Serizawa can be convinced. In Shou Vision, he is the Most Promising Adult in a 20 mile radius who is considerate enough to hear Shou out, reasonable enough to Listen, and powerful enough to do something impactful. Generally, Shou sees Serizawa display a lot of the traits he views as Super Important (kindness, conviction, etc.), but he has the one fatal flaw that Shou hates the most (cowardice) and he never uses those traits The Right Way.

So, to me, I think Shou may have appreciated Claw Serizawa's presence for the Potential he had, but also began to despise him because he never acted on it. But also he never HATED Serizawa. Again, he sees lots of honourable traits in this guy, it's just incredibly aggravating to see him Be Like That. Especially because they were both in the same situation as people who looked up to Toichiro and learned from him. But all Shou could see was a guy refusing to wriggle out from Toichiro's grip, even when pushed to do so.

ANYWAY. do you ever think about how after Serizwa changed his mind about Claw, he stuck by Shou's side basically the whole time afterwards. Grhgrhf. I do.

And I love that they are still in contact. I think Serizawa is a little awkward about it first and is like “why does he not resent me at all”. Because he feels Really Bad about it all still. and Shou is like “Serizawa my man how’ve you been 🤝” when they meet up. Because I think Shou appreciates his change more than resents how long it took him to get there yknow. The resentment angle is interesting though -- there's definitely some complicated feelings there -- but I just don't think Shou would keep it up too long. Especially not towards Serizawa, who immediately stood up to Toichiro after he changed his mind. Also, Shou is a super forgiving kid anyway. Serizawa is constantly amazed at Shou's coolness.

And Seri grows more confident in their good relationship the same way he grows confident about everything else/other relationships !! I don’t really view them very familial though, personally. Serizawa has the Reigen thing where he’s not a parent/older sibling/uncle to Shou, but is a Responsible and Trustworthy Adult Friend. I think he'd want to be someone Shou can actually rely on to help him sometimes, if he were to need it. Also, I think they just like each other's company a lot!!! Lots to bond over.

hey there, just wanted to say that I absolutely adore you're art style, such yummy shape it scratches my brain just right 10/10

also I'm in love with how you portray the start of heavy and medics relationship, like how they bicker and get on each others nerves a tiny bit,

I wanted to ask you what was the turning point from that to them kissing in the moonlight and whatnot

heya! no worries (and thank you for your kind words!) - this ask got me really excited as ive had a few ideas rocking around for a bit...depending on the day of the week i'll give you a different answer as to 'how' but the general gist is collegues who are bad at their jobs -> collegues who are GREAT at their jobs -> out of hours friends -> inseperable -> taking a chance on 'ruining' that friendship -> it all works out.

I tried to answer through a little bit of a comic...this is literally the 0th draft...needs an extra page or two and a few more drawings (and then overall....redrawing) but i need to post as otherwise i won't get any work done. I'll finish it one day! but enjoy! :)
