Arven Headcannons (Romantic)
No warnings: Just pure fluff
There are a few general headcannons in here and a couple of how i think him and Nemona's friendship would be. But its 90% fluff. I actually wrote WAYYYY more than what's in this post but i didn't think people would want to read an entire Essay. So here are a selection!
This man cannot bake for anything. Give him a grill and bread, he will give you a 5 star meal. Give him a whisk and a cake tray, he will burn the house down. So don’t expect a homemade cake on your birthday. Or at least don’t expect one from him.
He was Smitten with you the moment you agreed to help him on his Titan Quest. Reluctantly or joyfully, hearing you agreeing made him fall head over heels for you and he didn’t even know it. Maybe that's why he tried extra hard on those Sandwiches.
Arven and Nemona used to fight over the best friend position, You’d usually have to stand in the middle of them to prevent their Pokémon battles from spilling into personal ones. Arven would later claim the Boyfriend card once Area Zero was dealt with, Nemona was very pleased to cement the best friend spot.
You are the only other person who's allowed to take Mabosstiff out on walks. You're his person, so you get the puppy. Nemona and Penny both tried, it resulted in Arven throwing a tomato at Nemona and Penny slowly backing out of the room. He did mourn the tomato though… he wanted that tomato.
Arven isn’t necessarily Protective, but he is observant. He will defend your honour and voice with every ounce of his being. But he also isn’t a violent person, that's what Pokémon battles are for.
That being said, if something did happen to you, especially if you fell ill. He would go to hell and back to find some way of helping you. He already proved that much, just don’t bail on him if he needs you most.
Love Language: Gift Giving + Quality time.
If he can, he will SPOIL you. He never had someone love him the way you do. Show him the kindness and compassion that makes his heart sore. If he could give you the world. He’d hand you the Galaxy on a silver plate. But until he can find a Cosmo. A plushie will have to be done for now.
He is not a morning person at all. The only reason you will ever find him up before midday is for one of two reasons: A teacher told him off for being late and he’s only got 1 more warning before another suspension OR Mabosstiff dragged him out of bed by the ankle and forced him to go outside. There is no other reason.
Terrible at video games, absolutely horrendous. Dude can’t even play Minecraft without throwing the controller. Penny tried to teach him how to play Stardew Valley, he got angry at Pierre for the backpack price and hasn’t picked up the game again. Though he’s happy to watch you play and will hold down a button if you get tired. Never ask him to play though… unless you need to laugh, then ask.
One time you tried to put a bow on Mabosstiff ‘s head. With no recollection how or why, it somehow ended up in Arven’s hair. You have now learnt Arven can rock a manbun and a sparkling pastel pink bow.
When you first stayed the night, dude slept like a board. He did not move a single cell in his body. It wasn’t until you were resting your head on his chest that he actually moved. He has since loosened up, but it took a while for him to trust himself enough to even touch you when you slept.
He cannot Flirt. You cannot tell me otherwise.
He bought you both onesies to wear on movie nights. Yes he has to have a Saturday movie night with you or he gets grumpy.
Sometimes Arven will bring you lunch or make you breakfast so he knows you have eaten at least something during the day. Plus he also uses it as an excuse to see you smile but he will never say that to your face. Only Mabosstiff.
Dude is terrified of Cetitan. Ever since the "mountain incident" Cetitan is his greatest enemy. Arven tries to act tough and unafraid to impress you but, Grusha has and will continue to use this fear to his Advantage any time Nemona drags Arven to the Mountains. You totally didn’t make a deal with Grusha and Nemona, that isn’t something you did… Wink wink.
You don’t borrow his clothes, he donates them. There have been numerous occasions you have opened a drawer or wardrobe to find one of his numbers, jackets, vests, anything! Just something new of his somewhere for you to have. He will even buy different sizes if you prefer baggy shirts or snug shirts.
He remembers everything and yet nothing at the same time. You ask him what day it is, he’ll look at you like you just asked him to explain calculus to a class of year 1’s. Ask him your favourite movie!? Arven will go into excruciating detail about everything to the point you’d think he directed it. Nemona and Giacomo once held a quiz night on Arven just to test how much he did remember. Dude remembered nothing about anyone else, except birthdays… he’s good at that. But you dude could write your autobiography.
Dude has zero fear of heights, once Miridon learnt how to fly, anytime Arven would join you, he’d always sit behind you so he could hold your waist. It’s been a little thing of his ever since Area Zero, he can’t not do it. Even if he’s the better driver; Dude will sit behind you as an excuse to just hold you.
Almost No PDA he is a private person. He does lean on you though or will stand behind you almost like a bodyguard. If he does touch you in public it's usually a reassuring hand on the shoulder, on the small of your back to guide you somewhere or your arm locked into his. He isn’t a hand holder, he usually is carrying something or needs his hands free so he does subtle stuff instead.

MOCHI MOCHI, but it was a bit darker and REDRAWN!!
Hello everyone! I was in a creative mood, and redrew the VERY FIRST art I made on my blog which kindaaaa blew up. (You can see that post here.)
The info is still regularly the same, with the main character not existing, and the Paldea trio are being sent to Kitakami.
Nemona never found her rival, and upon being possessed, she goes from attentive and intuitive and loving battles to sluggish and stubborn, and will continue battling others even if they have no Pokemon left. And since Kieran, Carmine, and Geeta have to work to defeat her, she found her match.
Penny was never allowed to see their friends after Team Star still got expelled. Upon meeting Pechakeen, they go from prissy and timid to friendly and sociable, though that kindness is all just an act, and the chance they get, anyone they deem as a "bad guy" they'll ruthlessly bully and humiliate them. Since Carmine had drove Penny and the others off, Penny found the bully they could stand up to.
Arven still never was told about the incident in Area Zero, and with his Mabosstiff dying and his parents never around, Arven felt alone, left to deal with his negative self confidence. Upon meeting Pechakeen, he went from brash and unapproachable to apathetic and dramatic along with Sada's temper and Turo's emotional coldness. While the real Arven is still trapped in a false reality in his mind, this version of him never questions a thing, putting on this wimpy act until someone does something he doesn't like, and the temper comes flaring.
PLEASE!!! ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT MY AU!! Whether it be story changes, Paldea trio, whatever!!!
Mochi Desires AU is also getting a BIT of a rewrite so feel free to ask about that too!

I'd like to request a ShinyHunter!Reader giving their epilogue friends Pokemon they caught during their adventure (can be traded or gifted), with handwritten notes carefully taped inside their Pokeballs kinda explaining the meaning behind them:
Carmine - Authentic Polteageist
"I came to Kitakami as a stranger but left as your friend. It's my hope that this Pokemon and your beloved Sinistcha can be good buddies just as we are now."
--
Kieran - Roaring Moon / Iron Valiant
"I wanted to give you something that's just as rare, powerful, and wonderful as you are. Just as you found yourself through the darkness during the excursion in Area Zero, so too did I find this Pokemon."
--
Arven - Arcanine
"I wanted you and Mabosstiff to have a loyal, strong companion by your side, someone who will be by your side no matter what happens in life."
--
Nemona - Whatever the reader's starter was
"I wanted you to carry a piece of me in your party, since you've been the first friend to support and encourage me on my adventure."
--
Penny - Either Espeon or Glaceon
"I know you love a certain type of Pokemon, and I hoped this one would find belonging with your team - just like you've found it with me, Team Star, and the others."
Ik we can't trade shinies but damn it if gamefreak won't let us,,,we writers WILL make it happen
........
Carmine
One of the first things she learned about you during your trip to Kitakami was your obsession with shiny-hunting. You've done it all your life, with your first ever starter pokemon being a shiny, too!
You literally spend hours at a time running around different places, looking for Pokémon that either have a darker/lighter hue to their colors or looked incredibly different.
Tbh wonders if this is some Paldea craze bc no way could she see herself wasting so much time...
Despite that, your team of shiny 'mons had great stats and kicked her team down pretty good.
For a while she thought you were being the biggest show-off.
But after everything that happened with Ogerpon, the Loyal Three, BB Academy, Kieran, Terapagos, Pecharunt, etc..Carmine becomes one of your closest friends, learning to accept and support your passions for shiny hunting.
When she decides to trade you a Poltchageist, you surprise her by trading back a Shiny Polteageist with the authentic stamp, having found it by sheer luck.
Inside its pokeball, she discovers a note carefully taped within, and you assure her she can read it in front of you.
"To Carmine: I arrived to Kitakami as a stranger, but left as your friend, and I'm glad our bond has grown stronger. It's my hope that this Authentic Polteageist and your Sinistcha can become good buddies just like we have -[Y/n]"
She was so close to tearing up until she reads the word "authentic" and wonders how tf you managed to find such a specific Pokémon (especially a shiny authentic Polteageist).
"Well I had to set up a camp near Alfornada and then-" You almost start infodumping your hunting strategies, but she stops you with a hug instead.
"I promise they'll become the best of friends, and if not....then I'll...I'll make them be friends!" She huffs, while you just smile and hug her back, glad she appreciated the note.
Kieran
In Kitakami, he was always fascinated by your team of shinies, and at dinner he gawked when you brought up tales of your harrowing adventures in trying to find them.
For instance, you nearly got beaten up by some Mankeys before finding a Shiny Primeape somewhere nearby--but talked about it so casually. Like it was just another normal day for you.
You're not only strong, but very brave too..and he admires those traits.
Although when you two meet again at BB, it's just more fuel added to his jealousy of you. And he even comments about whether you wasted more time shiny hunting or training.
In the underdepths, you found a Shiny Carbink, and he tries catching it first---only for it to break out of the pokeball, and he scowls when you capture it without much trouble.
But after reconciling with each other and resolving the whole mess with Pecharunt, Kieran decides to trade you an Applin (after hyping himself up to ask you ofc).
You considered trading him one as well...
But you thought of something even better that also held special meaning:
A Shiny Paradox Pokémon you found when you returned to Area Zero to capture the alpha 'raidon.
More specifically, it was [Roaring Moon/Iron Valiant], and he was absolutely stunned when the creature pops out and greets him, unable to believe his eyes.
"W-Wowzers, you're actually gonna let me have one of.....huh?" It presents him with a note, handwritten by you.
"To Kieran: I wanted to give you something that's just as rare, powerful, and wonderful as you are. Just like how you've found yourself through the darkness back in Area Zero, I too found this Paradox Pokémon waiting for me. May it be your guiding light to future victories -[Y/N]"
He doesn't realize he's crying at your touching message until he sees several teardrops staining the paper.
How did he get so lucky to have such a caring and forgiving person like you in his life?
Arven
He knew about your shiny hunting hobby, although at times he thinks you're nuts for willing to risk life and limb for a slightly differently colored Pokémon.
You have notes about how you found a Shiny Garganacl, Copperajah, Gabite, Houndstone, and even an Iron Bundle--all down in Area Zero.
You explain that sparkling sandwich recipes make them show up more often, and he tries it out and is stunned when he finds a Shiny later on.
Ofc you take a little pride in teaching him something new.
When he visits the League Club and decides to trade Pokémon with you, it wasn't that hard to figure out what to give him.
He's stunned when it's a Shiny Arcanine with a note taped within the pokeball, addressed to him.
"To Arven: I've helped you and Mabosstiff before, and I will do so again. So here's a Pokémon who will be forever loyal to you both. No matter what curveballs life may throw at you, Arcanine will never leave your side -[Y/N] (PS: I've been calling this one Mustard, but you can give it a new name if you wish).
He laughs a little at the end of the message, as it brought a huge smile to his face.
"Not a bad name, buddy! Thank you..truly. I think Mustard and Mabosstiff will get along just fine."
Nemona
She'll thrilled you've found your calling as a shiny hunter during your Pokemon journey, but always reminded you not to forget about being her "rival for life", too.
When all is said and done, you invited her to the clubroom at the BB Academy with an idea.
Since she was the first person in Paldea to give you the encouragement to start your Pokémon journey, you wanted to give her something extra special to show your thanks.
Although first you had to pull her away from Kieran (who was startled by her demand for a battle) and distract her by proposing a trade.
Turns out she planned to do that exact same thing when she arrived....but got caught up in meeting a fellow champion and totally forgot in her excitement.
Anyways, you finally did a trade and Nemona's amazed when you give her a shiny version of your starter Pokémon (meanwhile, your fully-leveled starter ace is standing beside you, looking proud).
She's so hyped to rush outside and train it that she doesn't even see the note you left in the pokeball until the shiny gives it to her.
"Huh?? Oh! How could I have missed this??" She gasps dramatically before sitting down to read it over.
"To Nemona: You've always supported and encouraged me since the start of my Pokémon journey, and I couldn't be more grateful. So as my first friend and rival here in Paldea, I wanted you to carry a piece of me in your party. May you both grow stronger together -[Y/N]"
Her heart is just full as she reads the sweet note, before jumping up to crush you in a hug.
This really meant a lot to her--more than you ever know considering you've been her #1 source of encouragement, too.
Penny
Tackling all the Team Star bases definitely gave you an excuse to do some shiny hunting on the side, and you soon come across an Eevee.
It had a lonely/timid nature when you caught it, feeling like a misfit despite being in your party of shinies.
You weren't sure which form to evolve it into, as it didn't seem interested in any stone or in becoming your friend.
After helping Team Star and Penny redeem themselves and resolve the mess with Pecharunt, you have a small chat in her dorm room about Shiny Eeveelutions--to which she remarks her attempts to collect them, yet is having terrible luck so far.
She's well aware that Flareon, Glaceon, and Leafeon shinies look painfully similar to their counterparts (having slightly different hues) and expresses her frustration in the fact she could have seen one but didn't realize...
Later, you find Shiny Eevee digging through your bag, and you wonder why until it pulls out an ice stone.....and it finally occurs to you that it heard your conversation with Penny.
Seems like it finally made its choice.
So when you invite her to the League Club, you trade her a Shiny Glaceon, to which she just gawks like "are you fr???? I can have this one????"
Then she sees the note meticulously taped inside and reads it to herself.
"To Penny: I know how much you love a certain type of Pokémon. So I entrust you with this Glaceon, a true Shiny. I hope it finds belonging in your team, just like you've found it in me, Team Star, and all the others -[Y/n]."
She can't help the smile growing on her face, taking off her glasses to wipe at her eyes, all while Shiny Glaceon smiles and comforts her--proving that it's ready to be her new companion.

Pokémon Prom: Arven
Pairing: Arven x GN! reader
Word count: 959
Content: fluff, prom
Summary: a part of my Pokémon Prom series where Pokémon characters ask you out to prom (Arven ver).
Arven can feel the moisture gather at his palms, making them a sweaty mess. He can’t help it, though–this is probably the most nervous he’s been in a while. He’s rehearsed at least a couple hundred times in front of the mirror, afraid to mess up, but the more he practices, the more he thinks he’ll mess up.
“Okay–it’s simple, just ask,” he mutters, clenching and unclenching his hands. “The worst that can happen is a rejection–”
“Is this seat taken?”
Arven’s head swivels so fast he’s pretty sure his neck is broken. “Yeah–no. I mean, no it’s not taken.”
You laugh, taking the spot next to him. “You okay, Arven?”
“Yeah.” He can feel his throat dry as his hands get clammier. “Yeah.”
Your initial smile tips downwards. “Are you sure? You–”
“Yeah!” He says it so loudly that he knows people are looking. “I’m just–ugh.” Nervous? Yeah. But it’s not like he can say that without you asking why. “Don’t mind it. I guess I slept kinda badly last night.”
“Ugh, yeah, that sucks.” Your frown eases into a smile. “But hey! No worries, I’m pretty good at home ec., so having me as your partner should help!”
Partner, Arven repeats inside his head, but says, “Yeah, guess I’ll have to count on you a little this time.”
Before you can say anything else, Mr. Saguaro enters the room, his pink shirt straining against his muscles. “Hello class,” he beams, “I hope you’re excited for today’s class. We’re going to learn how to make sweet hearts. It is a chocolate that gives Pokemon twenty HP when consumed. A fantastic way to let your Pokemon know you love them, no?”
Love, Arven thinks, before smacking his cheeks to rid himself of the thoughts.
You glance at him, whispering, “Are you okay?”
“Yeah–yeah. I’m good.” Arven pretends to give his full attention to Mr. Saguaro even though his attention is pretty firmly set on you. You look at him a bit longer, before following suit and looking at Mr. Saguaro, who has already begun to write the recipe down on the whiteboard.
“Seems pretty simple,” you note, before standing up. “I’ll get the ingredients, so stay here, okay?”
“I can–” Arven begins, but is shut up by your look. “...Okay.”
Satisfied with his answer, you stand up to get the ingredients and tools to make the sweet hearts.
Arven watches as you leave, internally chastising himself for being so abnormal. He made you worry about him because of how oddly he was acting. Shit. Still, he can’t help but think about how sweet you are. Worried about him–he didn’t deserve it…
The thud of metal hitting the table snaps him out of his own thoughts. He looks towards you as you look down on him. “Got the stuff.”
“Thanks,” Arven responds, repositioning the cuffs of his sleeves. “Let’s get started.”
“You don’t have to tell me twice,” you laugh, watching as Arven sets the tools out. You’d have helped, but Arven’s movements are too quick for you to interject. Instead, you glance at the board to read the instructions. “We’ve got to heat some hot water first, then put a bowl inside the pot.”
“On it.” Arven put everything in place almost robotically, showing his years and years of experience in cooking. You keep watch as he dumps the chocolate chips into the bowl, using a spoon to stir.
“Huh. You don’t need the instructions?”
“Nah,” he responds, “I’ve done this a lot.”
“Heh.” You grin. “Your Pokemon are lucky to have you–they must be constantly well fed!”
“I’m lucky to have them,” Arven responds, tapping the spoon against the side of the bowl to get the excess chocolate off, “I was really lucky to have met you, honestly.”
“Huh?”
“Yeah–before it was just me and Mabosstiff. But now I have a full team, and I’ve got you. And the student prez and shortie too, I guess.” He mindlessly pours the chocolate batter into the heart molds, before sprinkling some berry powder on the top. His own words only begin to settle in when he realizes that you’ve been silent for a while, and he almost knocks the chocolates over. “I mean–”
“I’m grateful to you too, Arven.” You give him such a bright, earnest smile that he honestly can’t help but flush. “You’re one of the reasons why I got settled into Paldea so well, you know? Thanks for being a part of my journey.” You give a little laugh. “Maybe you’ll be willing to be a part of my next journey, too.”
“Yeah, ‘course.” Arven swallows. “Actually… speaking of adventures…”
“Hm?”
“Do you–you know. The–that is–” Arven taps the chocolate mold against the table to get rid of air bubbles. “You know.”
“Yeah?” you encourage as you melt some more chocolate over the stove.
“The dance. The one that’s coming up… I was wondering if you’d–like, do you want to go? Together? No pressure, though.”
“Oh.” You blink. “Oh!” Laughter bubbles out of you. “That’s what it was, huh?”
“Huh?”
“You’ve been acting weird all class, y’know.”
“I wasn’t.”
You give him a flat look, before huffing out a laugh. “All right, fine, whatever. I’d be glad to go with you.”
Arven blinks, before his lips twitch upwards. “You mean it?”
“Of course!” you laugh. “Why wouldn’t I mean it?”
“Yes!” he cheers, loud enough that the class looks at him. He sheepishly tacks on, “I’m so glad our sweet hearts are turning out well.”
You suppress a laugh. “Yeah, totally.”
He looks at you, before clearing his throat when your eyes meet. “...So, can I pick you up for dinner? Uh–before the dance, that is?”
You grin. “Does five work?”
He smiles back. “Five works great.”

--
You had been in Area Zero, gathering information on moth pokemon for Jacq when the director called, his usually placid voice laced with an edge of steel.
"Basil's father just stopped by." He says without preamble.
Your heart sinks, and you nearly lose your grip on Raidon, only barely managing to stay upright and drag the pokemon to a halt.
"His what?" You splutter, changing the phone to your other ear, as if you hadn't heard correctly.
"His father." The director repeats. "I know we have not...explicitly discussed Basil's paternity, but, well," He tsks lightly. "He showed up to speak to me."
Your head is filled with tarountula webbing. You feel your hearing go fuzzy, but somehow your hands direct Raidon up and toward the closest lab station. Out, out, out. Back to the school. Back to Basil, back to--
"I'm on my way to the entrance to Area Zero now." Clavell continues when you don't reply after a few moments. "I'll meet you there with Basil."
"What did he want?" You finally ask as you enter the station.
"I didn't give him the opportunity to chitchat."
You hum. "One second, Sir." You step into the transport pad.
A moment later, and Clavell is right in front of you, Basil tucked safely in his stroller, looking just as he did when you dropped him off this morning, save for his hair looking a little...off. You disregard it.
"Thank you so much." You sigh, hanging up the phone as Clavell gives you a sad sort of smile.
"Anything for you two." He says.
You kneel and try to fluff up your son's hair, but it has dried all crunchy from whatever happened during the day. He's getting a bath later, so you don't fret over it and just smile warmly to him, trying not to let your panic show.
"Ready to go home, sweet thing?" You ask him.
Basil nods, reaching with little hands for yours in his hair. "Mhmm!" He nods. "Ahso, Mama! I saw a big buddy! A big, BIG buddy!"
Clavell clears his throat and provides some context. "Mabosstiff said hello."
You look up to the director, knowing exactly which Mabosstiff he must mean. "Oh? Mabosstiff! That's...that's so great!" If your register is maybe just a touch too high, your smile too tight, it's only to maintain face in front of the boy to whom you turn back. "Were you kind? Remember how we always wanna be nice to new pokemon, yeah?"
"Uh-huh, uh-huh! He gived me a kisses! A lotsa kisses!"
So that's the crunch in his hair.
Oh, Mabosstiff...
"That's my sweet boy." You sigh, ruffling the mess before standing again to face the director.
"Thanks again. I'm gonna..." Another long exhale. "I'm gonna get us home."
Clavell nods. "You know how to reach me if you need something. And... Well, if you want me to intercede on your behalf, I'm happy to have words." He says stoically. "At times I felt I was the closest thing..." He gestures with his head outward toward the school. "He had to a parent in his life... I..." It's his turn to sigh. "I don't understand what happened there. How he could do what his own parents did to him? I'm sorry. If it's any consolation."
Your heart squeezes, and you distract yourself from the feeling by digging your nails into the soft foam of the handles of Basil's stroller. "Don't be. He made his choice, y'know?" You try to smile, but it's shaky. "He deserves to have the life he wants."
"He deserves a kick in the pants." Clavell responds. "Not that I'm an advocate for corporal punishment..." He adjusts his glasses in that grandfatherly way.
You laugh.
"Well, if he sticks around long enough, maybe you'll get a chance."
You hope he doesn't stick around.
Or...do you?
Do you even want to see him?
Either way, you don't want to linger on it in the lab.
"I'm gonna take this little one home."
Clavell nods. "Until later."
And then you're calling a cab to get back to your place, and Clavell is on his way back to the office.
While you're in the cab, you check your messages and sigh. Seems like Ortega caught a glimpse of Arven, and Rika is...fucking with him in some way or another.
You ignore your old classmates and opt to just text Rika.
Me: Got Basil from Clavell and we're on our way home rn/
Me: Love you too ofc 💖💖
A minute or so later, your phone buzzes. Rika again.
Rika: he's gone now
Rika: I put the fear of arceus in him if i do say so myself
You roll your eyes, smiling wryly. By now the cab is slowly descending to the space just outside your home, so you pocket the device and maneuver Basil in his stroller out of the cramped space and into the house.
Once he's unbuckled from his seat, he's bouncing around and grabbing at the attached bag, the one containing Buddy's pokeball, asking in broken syllables if they can play.
It isn't a huge deal to let the pup out of the ball to play, so you hand it over to Basil, reminding him how to behave with his friend. At the same time, you also release Skeledirge to keep a watchful eye over the pair for a moment.
In the weeks since the Raisins Incident, as you've called it, you've come to the realization that your team can be of some assistance to you when you need a moment to yourself, when you're overwhelmed. Obviously Skeledirge isn't a parent. Neither is Raidon or Tinkaton or Screamtail or anyone else, but Skeledirge is smart enough to keep them safe for the precious seconds you need to breathe.
So you let the three alone in the living room and retire to your bedroom for a moment to collapse on the bed and gather your thoughts. You only need a few seconds. Just a few seconds of Mama time...just a few.
There's a sound at your open door as Basil toddles in, two pokemon in tow.
"Mama... Hungy?" He asks, clenching his shirt in tiny balled fists.
"Oh, sweetness..." You sigh, leaning down to pick him up and seat him securely on your lap. "You're hungry?" You press your face into his head, expecting its usual downy softness and the comfort of your child's scent, only to be met with that uncomfortable crunch of dried Mabosstiff slobber. Out of Basil's line of sight, your nose crinkles. "Let's see what we've got in the kitchen, yeah?"
"Toast? Toast 'n jellies?" He asks hopefully.
"I think we could do that, my littlest..." You respond with a smile, hefting your boy onto your hip as you trudge into the kitchen.
Of course, it would be just your luck that you're entirely out of oran jelly, the only jelly that Basil will eat right now. Thank you, developing taste buds and picky eating...
Maybe he won't notice if you try to give him pinap jelly instead this once?
You prepare his plate, the toast lovingly cut into four triangles, and you give him his sippy cup as well, but Basil only stares down unhappily at the food.
"Jellies?" He asks, his tiny button nose wrinkling.
"Yeah, Baby, I made you toast and jelly." Your heart clenches, anxiety rising, but you try to keep your voice chipper.
"Nuh-uh!" He insists, pushing the plate away.
"Oh, I'm sorry. We don't have the usual jelly. Do you wanna try this instead?"
Your son looks at you with wide eyes, rapidly filling with tears. His lower lip wobbles, and his brow furrows angrily. Times like these it's almost crazy how much he looks like...
No, focus!
"It's good, I promise. Wanna see? Mama will have some." You take a bite of one of the triangles and make a show of smiling. "Mmm! So yummy! It's really tasty!"
"No!" Basils yells in response, his tiny tears now falling. Hangry isn't a good look on the little guy.
"Ahhh, we gotta get you something to eat, huh, bud."
"Jellies!" He blubbers, only barely understandable through his tantrum. Buddy the Maschiff jumps up, placing his front paws on Basil's feet, trying to get at the food, and Basil complies, shoving it down to the pup.
You sigh. "Alright."
Buddy re-enters his ball, still chewing the bread, and you take Basil from his high chair, depositing him in his stroller.
"We'll go to the market and get your good jelly, okay? Super duper fast, then we'll come home and have a feast."
Basil is still crying, but the promise of his good jelly seems to placate him somewhat.
It'll be fine anyway. The market is only a short walk from your apartment building, and you'll only be out for a few minutes.
The journey there is easy. Basil's stroller is one of those fancy transforming models that's great for all kinds of terrain while also being pretty light. It helps that the market is all outdoors, too. Less helpful is the fact that the stalls are fairly narrowly placed beside one another. At least it feels that way with all the people around, but it isn't overly cumbersome to navigate.
"Jellies!" Basil starts to whine as you approach the stall that he's come to learn has his favorite snack. He starts making grabby hands towards the jars along the table, and you attempt to quietly stop him.
"Yup! They've got your jelly here. Once I pay, you can hold the jar, if you like. Sound good?"
"I pick, I pick!" Basil insists, arching his tiny body as best he can away from the stroller's restraining buckle.
"Hey now," You press a soft but firm hand against him, guiding him back to his seat. "I'll let you pick, but you have to be polite. Say please and thank you to the salesperson, kay?"
Your son huffs, squirming a bit more before collapsing against the seat. "I be good. I good." He grumbles, and you're finally able to unbuckle him and take him up in your arms.
"Okay now. Can you ask for what you want?" You give the salesperson a thankful smile as you speak to Basil. They seem willing to be patient with your little one.
"Jellies!!!" He cries gleefully.
"Jellies, what, bud?"
"Jellies, pease!!!"
"There you go... We're gonna get some oran berry jelly." You tell the salesperson, already reaching into your bag with the hand that isn't carrying Basil. "Remember, these are glass, so you gotta hold it gently."
Basil carefully (or as carefully as a nearly-two year old can) chooses a bright blue jar, holding it in both of his hands.
Gently, so as not to jostle Basil enough that he drops his prize, you rearrange him on your hip, freeing an arm to reach into your bag, so you can pay the shop keeper.
That's when you hear it. Not particularly loud compared to the hum of the crowd, but clear as day anyway.
The sound of your name being called gives you pause. You look around. It's not uncommon for you to be recognized, but you're already on edge. Hopefully it's just a fan or something?
–
You heard him. From the way you stopped and looked around, hiking the kid up just a bit higher on your hip as you distractedly tried to find the source of his voice, it was obvious.
It isn't an overly crowded market, but there are definitely enough people milling around that quick travel isn't really feasible from where he stands, particularly if he wants to get closer.
He calls your name again, louder this time. Before it had almost been breathless, filled with surprise, hurt, delight, just a tumultuous storm of emotions tearing through his stomach at the sight of you, the sight of his little carbon copy in your arms. Now he's really trying to get your attention.
You pinpoint him, and Arven waves, his bulky form helping to differentiate him from the rest of the crowd.
He... He can't read your face. You look like a deerling caught in Flash. He watches as you quickly shuffle, taking your boy (his boy?) away. Are... Are you for real fleeing from him? He calls your name again, trying to move closer to your retreating form, but it's no use. He makes it to the stall where you were before. He's positive of it because you left the stroller behind, and judging by the yelling from the salesperson, you made off with some product without paying. It's a no-brainer for him to lay down the cash needed, assuaging the anger of the clerk. Arven also grabs the stroller, giving a nervous laugh about how forgetful you must be before he starts trekking with it in the direction that you fled.
Except. He quickly realizes that's not really gonna get him anywhere. He has no idea where you live. Yeah, he knows where you used to live, almost 3 years ago, but that was basically a shoebox, a place to store your supplies while out and about as a champ. No way you're there still. Not with a kid. Right?
He eventually takes a seat on a bench close to the market, keeping the stroller next to him. You've gotta come back for it soon, right? Even then though, he has no idea how long it might take you to come back.
Once again, Arven desperately wishes you hadn't blocked him way back when. He pulls out his phone, hoping to shoot you a text, on the off-chance that maybe you unblocked him at some point maybe?
Me: Hi, Buddy!
is all he types before seeing the tell-tale red messaging, showing that the number is indeed still blocked. Ugh.
Fuck, maybe...maybe he could use a pay phone or something? Just to tell you where your stroller is. But are there even any pay phones anymore?
As it turns out, they do still exist! There's one just on the edge of the market, so Arven makes his way over, pulling out his phone to copy your number once he's in the booth.
Except.
That's not a Paldean area code he sees. It's Kalosian. Yes, it's your name as the contact, and it's your final, nasty message to him there in the texts, but....it's not your number. There's not even a call history that goes back that far for him to try and grab the number that he just can't seem to remember entirely. He used to have it memorized, once upon a time, the two of you having been the other's emergency contact for so long, so he knows he's not crazy. That number...
He realizes on a second glance that the number is affiliated with Bon Applintit. It's got the same starting numbers after the area code.
What the hell happened to--
"Arven!!!!" The cry of his name startles him out of the thought, but he tucks it away for later. There's something very, very off going on, beyond the kid and everything. Which also??? Kinda absolutely bonkers. He's not gonna lie to himself. He also can't think too hard about it.
"Arven!" Nemona pulls him from that dizzying train of thought, as well as the phone booth. "I've been sent to just, uh...grab this from you..." She tells him, awkwardly trying to work her way around him to grab at the stroller's handlebars. "Ya know... Mama and Basil need it and all." She laughs a bit uncomfortably, continuing her attempt to pry the pram from him.
"Basil?" He says out loud, the name punching him harder than any Hitmonchan. His fists clench tighter around the bars.
Nemona slaps a hand over her mouth, allowing Arven to angle the stroller away from her. "Were you not supposed to know? Ah, gosh darn it!"
"I mean--!" He starts defensively. "I guess?! I never knew about...about any of this!" He gesticulates wildly. "When was anyone gonna tell me about Basil, huh? What the hell, Nemona!?"
She gives him a strange look, her lips pursed and brows quirked. "You... You really had no idea?" She crosses her arms, studying Arven's expression. "Hold on."
Nemona takes out her phone and starts texting. Arven does his absolute best to be patient, but with every passing second he's growing more agitated.
"Okay, listen! Someone has GOT to tell me what's going on!" He eventually bursts. "Who IS this kid? Why does she have him? Why does... I mean, why does the kid look like me? Everyone's been treating me like shit since I got here, and none of it makes any goddamn sense! If anyone cares to hear MY side of the story, she blocked ME! And to my knowledge it was just over a few missed calls! I thought she was just overreacting! I had no idea about any of this!" His anger over it all, over getting shunned by his friends years ago, over Clavell’s insults, comparing him to his father, it all bubbles over, and he’s letting it out on Nemona.
She hushes him with a sound and a not-so-placating finger, not bothering to even look up as she texts with a single thumb. "Hold on, hold on, hold on..." The patronizing nature of it all pulls a huff from Arven, whose grip on the handles of the strollers is so strong his knuckles go white.
His friend locks the screen and looks back to him. Her gaze is steady and serious, in stark contrast to her typical jovial self.
"Okay. I believe you, amigo. You say you've got no idea what's going on? I'm sorry to hear that. I really, really wish I could just tell you everything. Or at least, what I think is everything? But this isn't really my place. Not my mankey, not my circus. I'm just the mankey's fun tia, y'know?" She tries to lighten the mood a bit, but it absolutely falls short. "But. For real, this isn't the kind of chisme I enjoy. Not when it involves any of you. I'm talking to her now." Nemona shakes the phone in her hand. "I'm gonna see if she's willing to hear you out."
"Hear me out? She was the one--"
"That isn't how anyone here knows the story, Arven. At least what she's been able to bring herself to tell of it. I don't think any of us can claim to know all the details, but do you think she'd lie to make you look bad? Really?"
That seems to give Arven pause. At least long enough for Nemona to check the latest message from you. She smiles.
"She's on her way to the Treasure Eatery and will meet with you there. Be sure to bring the stroller."
--
Arven makes it to the restaurant before you. It isn't really surprising, given your detour to the league building to drop Basil off with Nemona for a bit. He ought to thank his lucky stars for Nemona pleading his case to you, saying he seemed to be genuinely confused and distraught over the situation. Otherwise you wouldn't have bothered. This is...exhausting to think about. Facing him. Trying to figure out what he wants. Why he came.
You won't lie, your initial thoughts as you rushed home with Basil tucked tightly in your arms, shielding him from his father, were rather dark. Was Arven here to try and take him? Did he think he could use your baby as some kind of prop in his social media videos? People go crazy for dads after all.
But, no. If you're honest with yourself (like Nemona urged you to be) that's not the man you knew. You couldn't imagine him becoming someone like that either, especially if he didn't want to be a dad in the first place... Beyond that, if you think rationally for a moment, there isn't a court in the world that would order your toddler son to another country without you.
No, this...this will be safe. It will be scary. To see him again. But. There's no need to think there's danger. It will just be kind of scary. And you can deal with scary, if only for a few minutes.
"Hey." Your voice sounds drained as you drop your bag on your side of the booth and follow behind it to sit. You want to look at him. Look him in the eye and ask him what his deal is, but you just can't summon that brand of bravery.
"Hey." His tone isn't really discernable; you can't guess what he's thinking. "I, uh...ordered your usual drink. Or...What you used to order? If that's cool?"
Sure enough, there on the tabletop is your go-to drink from the Treasure Eatery, a ring of condensation already formed at the base of the glass, dampening the flimsy cardboard of the disposable coaster.
"Oh." It surprises you, that small bit of thoughtfulness. "Thanks." You take the glass in both hands and sip, letting the frosty cold of it ground you before you finally look up to see him.
He's... He's so much like Basil, it makes a lump form in the back of your throat. The nose, the eyebrows, the bow of his lips. You've seen them all every day for almost two years now in the face of your little boy; things you noticed and adored, now mimicked before you. Beyond that, he's still Arven. Time hasn't changed him too terribly much. For an adult, it hasn't been too long, so it's not like he's suddenly grey and withered before you or something. The biggest difference is how he pulls his hair back into a low ponytail, the patchy stubble around his cheeks and chin. He's either growing it out to try something new or just hasn't bothered with a razor for a while.
"Hey." You finally say. Truth be told, if not for your drink, your throat would've gone dry just seeing him again.
"So..." He starts, leading.
"So...you're back."
"Uh. Yeah. The plan was to spend the weekend clearing out my old storage....and...head back to Lumiose..."
"'The plan was?'" You ask.
"W-Well, I mean... I. I don't think I can just go back now, can I?"
You tense. Why did that feel like an attack? "I don't see why not. You didn't seem to think it was important to, you know, come back before now. What makes you think you have to stay?" Your tone comes off colder, more callous, than your aching heart would otherwise reveal, and it does its job, egging Arven onto frustration.
"I saw Clavell with Basil." He starts, pausing when he notices your flinch at the name. "Then I saw him with you. And... I mean..."
"Oh, so you saw him and now suddenly you care?" You ask, venom dripping more than you'd care to admit.
"What are you saying?!" He grates, volume only as loud as public decorum would allow in the bustling restaurant. "You... You have to be kidding, right? Of course I care! There's... There's a whole kid! Right? Where did he come from, huh? Cuz, like... Those don't just appear! And he's yours, right? He's gotta be! Like, obviously I see my...resemblance, but I see you in him, too!" That surprises you. No one ever found your features in Basil anymore, save for your mom, who made an off-handed comment once or twice about your eye shape or something.
Arven takes your silence as reason to continue "I mean... I've seen my photos from a young age... I..." His anger fizzles out into confusion as he goes on. "I don't want to make assumptions about...about us or what we were? But...looking at that kid, it's gotta be, right? That it was me? That I'm..." He can't say it out loud. "But why? Why didn't you say something? Why did you hide something like that? Cuz, like... I mean...even...even if he were someone else's... I mean, why wouldn't you have said something?"
"Hide it?!" The accusation shocks you into a response. "I never hid anything! I tried telling you for ages, back when you actually picked up the damn phone! You forced me into having to text you about my son! Then you blocked me! I have the receipts, Arven. I don't know what kind of delusion you've got going on in that head of yours, but I never hid my boy from you until I was given reason to! Why would I go out of my way to force a child upon a man who couldn't acknowledge him? Why wouldn't I keep my son safe from someone who didn't have the decency to be there for him? For me?"
Your tone has risen to a point where a few of the surrounding tables have hushed to listen in, and Arven can tell that prying eyes and ears are now on you both. He shuts his eyes and takes a deep breath, an attempt to steady himself, keep from getting more heated in public.
"Bud." He begins, the old nickname hitting you like a sucker punch. "I never knew. I don't know what happened there, but I promise. I promise on Mabosstiff's life that I had no clue about any of this. I think there had to have been some kinda mix up..." You watch as cogs turn in his head. "I think... I'm thinking maybe something happened with my phone." He says, pulling the device from his pocket. "Like... Lemme just try and make this clear from my end. Okay? I got this text from you..." He starts, tapping the screen. "It was kinda mean, and when I tried to respond, I was blocked." He holds up the conversation for you to read.
>Hey! Sorry we keep missing each other lately! I hope things are okay? Are you staying warm? It's getting kinda cold here.
>can we not do this?
>Not do what?
>"This" i'm getting real fuckin tired of you bailing on me all the time now that your some hot shot kalosian celebrity guy
>Whoa. Where is this even coming from??
>you kno exactly where its coming from, arven. Youve been super shitty to me since you left paldea and it really hurts my feelings.
>I'm sorry? I've been busy here. It's been a lot getting used to a whole new place and a whole new language. I thought you understood that. I really am sorry though.
>y'know what? I dont really care at this point. Ive had enough waiting around for you to call me or text me back. there are guys here who can do better by me
>[One Missed Call]
>[One Missed Call]
>[One Missed Call]
>Are you being serious right now? You can't be. This is a joke?
>[One Missed Call]
>[The number you are trying to reach has been disconnected and is no longer in service.]
Your face pales and stomach sinks as you read it. "Arven, I--"
"I just noticed earlier when I tried calling you about the stroller. That isn't even your number. It's Kalosian. It's... I think it's affiliated with my company? I can't be sure yet, but..." He locks the screen and puts his phone down. "I know now that you never sent those messages, and that somehow I lost everything related to your contact. So...whatever you might've sent...it isn't here. I couldn't have seen it."
With a nearly shaking hand, you grab his phone and open it back up, still remembering his old passcode (Mabosstiff's Pokedex number). "Hold on..." You absolutely sent a message. Whether it was deleted or not... You check his blocked numbers, knowing that on your end, you've been blocked since back when you first told him about the pregnancy. "Yup..." You show him the screen. There among several spam numbers was your own. "You blocked me."
Arven opens his mouth to argue. "Or, I guess," You continue before he has a chance to interrupt. "I was blocked... somehow? I still... I don't see how this could have happened..." You set the phone down and fish out your own from your bag. "Here." It only takes a moment to pull up your old conversations. "You can read for yourself what I tried to tell you."
>Hey! I know this isn't ideal, and I really would have rather said it in person or over a face call or even just a regular call, but I think you need to know, and I'm having a really hard time verbalizing it to you. I'm sorry to do it this way, but it's better to say it now than not at all, right?
>I'm pregnant, and it's yours.
>I'm so, so, SO sorry! I promise I didn't mean for it to happen like this, and I'm not trying to like…baby trap you or something. I swear! You're my best friend in the whole world, and I'm so happy that you can go and live your dream in Kalos right now. But I just feel like you should know? Like you should have a say in what happens here? I'd love to talk to you. Do...do you want to do this? Because....well if you're willing I'd want to try this. With you. But I also know that you're living your dream right now, and I don't want to get in the way of that! I want you to be able to really embrace this new journey you're taking and learn and grow and do wonderful things! But I just wanted you to know, you know? Please don't hate me. Just give me a call when you have a minute, and we can figure this out. Okay?
. Then after several months, you’d sent a picture. Just a simple selfie of you, looking exhausted beyond belief, hair tamped down to your head with sweat, but still smiling. In your arms is a tiny bundle with a little purple hat, face looking squished and wrinkly and perfect. Arven knows exactly what he’s looking at before he’s read your final message.
>He's here. I don't know if you care, necessarily? But... I love him so much, and I don't understand how you couldn't, so I thought I should share.
You watch as Arven tears up, holding your phone like a tiny, precious creature. "I never knew. I... I swear I didn't." He swallows. "My...my team... They all have access to my phone. Something must've... Someone, I guess..." He shudders then looks to you, resolute. "I'll figure it out. But." Arven looks at your hand on the table then flexes his own, curling and uncurling it from a fist. "I... I wanted to know. I should've known. I'm so sorry this happened..."
"Me too..." The anger and fear and sadness you had churning in your gut this whole time slowly begins to still. You don't know how to feel exactly about the misunderstanding, but you know Arven. You know he isn't lying to you, and to hear him apologize for all of this... It's like a weight off of your soul.
Arven pauses, gathering himself then stares you in the eye. "I was supposed to leave tomorrow, head back. Fuck that. I need to be here. I need to see him.”
It's another punch to the gut, and on instinct, you respond. "No."

Yes i’m perfectly fine, i’m just thinking about how in every Pokemon game where the rival character goes through a ton of hardships and pain, we are the ones that caused it. Somehow, it always goes back to us.
In the HGSS Celebi event it is shown that Giovanni abandoned Silver and went into hiding because Red/Leaf defeated him. (Essentially, we the player, ruined Giovanni and Silvers relationship all because we defeated Giovanni in FRLG.) “You told me… you were the number one in the world! Are you gonna quit? What are you going to do now? What aspect of you was number one? Gathering so many only to be defeated by a mere child! I don't understand you! You don't make any sense! I don't want to understand you! I will never become someone like you. A coward when you're alone and acting like a tyrant when you're in front of other cowards! I will become strong! I will become a stronger man all by myself! All by myself!”
In SWSH we indirectly cause Hop to go through so much turmoil and depression as we beat him time and time again. Each time we win, we ruin his confidence and his dream of beating Leon and becoming the new champion. And then in the end, we completely tarnish his dream as we defeat him, beat Leon, and become the champion. (Not saying Hop’s depression is entirely on us, as Bede bullies him till he starts to feel that way, but we helped a whole lot ruining his dreams and such.) “But he said that I was dragging Lee's good name through the mud, being so rubbish like I was... And I just can't get those words out of my head! If I'm weak, then people'll think Lee's weak, too... But I don't want that! I can't let Lee get dragged down!” “I want to help my brother, <player>! I've got to! But I can't even manage to beat you, so what sort of help could I ever be...?”
In SV we give the professor the book that helps them make a breakthrough with their research. In us doing that, we doomed them. We are basically the reason why Arven’s parent died, and why his Mabosstiff getting sick in the first place. “But the truth is, I would've rather just had a mom/dad who was there...even if she/he wasn't anything great. I haven't seen her/him for ages now. Unless you count seeing her/him in the news or whatever. Used to at least get emails sometimes. But even those stopped a couple years ago. And then she/he appears, out of the blue, and tells me we've gotta come to Area Zero? Tch. Some family, right?”
In the SV DLCs, everything we do ruins Kieran over and over again. We cause him to go through so much anguish and pain as we become the trainer for Ogerpon, and we defeat him in the Blueberry academy. Everything we do to him, even when we are trying to lessen the blow, (lying to him about seeing Ogerpon) just makes things worse for him. “The Loyal Three were the real bad guys, but the ogre's the one that gets treated like an outcast! And you two did the same thing to me! You treated ME like an outcast when you went an' met with the ogre! You're no different than those villagers back then... You know how much I love the ogre! You acted like you didn't know anything, but you were laughing at me behind my back all along! Liar! You're a LIAR!!!”

#All these characters destroy me :(#On another note..#God all these quotes are amazing to me#i love Silvers so much#!!!#also I genuinely think Kieran is the best written pokemon character#his story is so interesting#like he literally took over the pokemon fandom when the dlcs first came out#for good reasons!! lmfao#Rival silver#rival hop#rival arven#trainer arven#rival kieran#pokemon#pokemon swsh#pokemon scarvi#pokemon hgss#long text post#dostarve speaks

Listen to me!!!! Male reader x Arven: reader loves to take pictures (not selfies) of everything around them and only realize they are into arven when they both are checking the rotom phone gallery and like half of all the photos during the titan path are just of arven.
holy frick i love this idea…
Whenever you first started your treasure hunt, you had almost completely filled your phone with pictures of different pokémon, plants, tents, food, whatever the hell you can find.
You needed to get a new SD card just for your new pictures, the one with the largest storage you could find.
Whenever you started helping Arven with the titans, he noticed you always had your phone out, taking pictures. He loved the look in your eyes you would get whenever you'd find something you wanted to take a picture of.
He'd find himself daydreaming about you, how handsome you were, how your eyes would glitter when the light would hit them just right, how kind you were… He could go on and on about how amazing he found you.
You'd always have this weird feeling around Arven, something you couldn't exactly put your finger on. It made you feel like you had eaten an entire bucket of the richest chocolate frosting and went on a swing set.
After getting all the Herba Mystica and healing Mabosstiff, you both hugged the life out of each other. His arms were strong, but his body was a little squishy, you loved it so much and never wanted to let go.
Arven on the other hand felt like he died and went to heaven (or whatever paradise is in the pokémon world). His touch starved aah would've started crying if he wasn't already (from relief of Mabosstiff being healed)
After the events of Area Zero, you were both sitting in your dorm, talking about stuff and things.
"So... What exactly do you take pictures of all the time?", Arven asked, scooting closer to you on your bed.
You beamed at him, Nemona had been the only one who ever asked. You assumed he wasn't interested...
Pulling out your rotom phone, you swap to the gallery. You could feel your heart beating out of your chest in excitement.
Arven's face went from your phone screen to your face, had you been looking at him, you would've noticed the pure affection he stared at you with.
"Okay, so I had to get a new SD card a little bit around the time I started helping you, so you'll notice a lot of my pictures at the start are-", you cut yourself off upon seeing the unaware, candid pictures you took of Arven. You swore you took more pictures of the titans themselves...
Thinking back... Maybe you didn't...
These feelings you have around him, they've only gotten worse. You get really hot, excited, nervous, distracted...
Oh no...
You have feelings for him.
You have feelings for Arven.

Arven x Female Reader: Aftertrip Care
You were returning to Paldea from a loooong trip in Kitakami, tired and worn down. That’s when Arven takes care of you.
“We appreciate your visit, (Y/N)!” the caretaker happily declares as you board the bus. You waved before the bus doors closed. Once the bus brought you to the airport, you got off, then boarded the plane back to Paldea.
You haven’t slept all too well or at all while you were visiting Kitakami. You were busy with visiting signboards with Kieran, helping to clear Ogerpon’s name with the help of him and his sister, Carmine, tracking down the Bloodmoon Beast, Ursaluna, with Perrin, but you especially had one subject in thought:
Arven.
Your boyfriend, who was not able to come to Kitakami with you as he had to stay behind and catch up on his schoolwork. You missed him so much, it felt like you hadn’t seen him in forever.
After a long and exhausting flight back to Paldea, you got off the plane, dragging your feet as you were VERY sleepy; too tired to talk. Your eyes were screaming for sleep; they were practically blurry. Your body was shutting down, but you were fighting to stay up until you got to the academy.
“(Y/N)!” you hear a familiar voice call to you. You could barely lift your head up to see who was coming to you. You couldn’t even process a gentle hug being given to you.
“You okay, sweetness? You don’t seem too alert.” It was Arven, hugging you and talking to you. He lifts your face so he could get a look at you. “Looks like sleep deprivation. Don’t worry, hon,” Arven said, carefully scooping you up off your feet, “I can bring you up to my dorm so you can sleep.”
Arven carried you all the way up to his dorm and laid you down on his bed. You were fully passed out while he was carrying you in his arms.
You were unaware of where you were until you partially opened one eye to see you were in Arven’s room; on his bed. It was almost dark outside, so it seemed you had slept the day away. You couldn’t remember Arven meeting you outside of the school or him carrying you up to his room. You were too exhausted to remember.
You looked around the room to see he wasn’t there. He left a note for you indicating he was going to get stuff for dinner. He even left Mabosstiff there with you to look after you.
You got out of bed to go to the bathroom. You felt pretty refreshed after sleeping for so long. Once you were done doing your business and we’re about to wash your hands, you heard the dorm door open. Arven was back.
After you washed your hands, you exited the bathroom to see Arven in the kitchen, setting everything on the counter, then turning to see you. He smiles at you.
“Hey, love,” he says, walking up to you and hugging you, “you feeling okay? You’ve been asleep for nearly the whole day.” You hugged him back. “I feel better now, thank you.” you said.
You felt Arven kiss you on the side of your head. “Of course, sweetie. I brought stuff home for dinner. Hope you’re hungry.” You nod, saying, “Haven’t eaten since I left Kitakami.” Arven slowly pulls away. “I’ll get to cooking right away,” he says, giving you a kiss on the cheek, “gonna make your favorite.”
Arven cooked your favorite meal for the both of you. Once it was ready, you both got to eating. Soon after, with full bellies, you two relaxed in bed until you both fell asleep. It made you happy to know Arven is there for you even after you’ve been gone for a while.

Finally, we're at the gen 9 rivals and friends. Honestly some of the best in the series- Some call Arven or Penny Rivals, but that's wrong. Still, I feel weird not including them in the list. They even repeat some old tropes in the franchise, but still manage to pull it off in an enjoyable way.
Anyway, let's get to it
Lets start with the actual main rival, Pokemon Goku, Nemona. Nemona continues the trend of friendly rival with a weaker starter- but she finally does something to make that fun: She's already a champion. She's already a champion, and she's crazy enough to try and groom a complete noob into becoming her ultimate rival. She purposely restarts from the bottom to match us, because she's so battle crazy that she's scared off everyone else. Thus, when we beat her, the joy is JUSTIFIED, because we're another step closer to her ideal rival. She is pretty funny and crazy, a little autistic probably, but I love how she REFUSES to take no for an answer when she asks us to be rivals for life after we, too, become champions. The rush of battling us as two champion tier trainers overwhelms her with joy- because she finally, FINALLY has found someone that can handle her freak and won't run away when she challenges us. Literally, Goku training Uub.
As a trainer, her teams are very packed with hard hitters- and even though she picks the weaker starter, she does have the added benefit of the starters this go around having a reverse type triangle of strengths and resistances. Sure, that goes flying out the window when she terastilizes a Quaquaval against your Meowscarada, but at the same time, if she outspeeds? You're still in trouble. And her final Blueberry rematch team is something INCREDIBLE as well, stacking up with other starters like Infernape or Greninja to help make her already decent team even better. Literally a cut above most of the rivals since Barry, imo, maybe only being outdone by N in terms of struggle at the current level. As a character and rival, 9/10, she's fun, if not as deep as Arven.
As a design... Eh. Kinda middling. She does wear the same uniform as us with a cool little arm thing, so she's not getting *too* much special treatment compared to us, and I think we're all in agreement that the Scarlet version is more fitting for her. I'm not really a fan of the green in her hair or the forehead, and I think maybe it'd be pulled off better with a gold highlight instead on some bangs. I will say, the render looks fine, but she actually looks a bit better in game imo. 7/10 on design, there's more interesting looking rivals imo.
Now that our rival is done, lets take a look at our buddy (since he calls us "Little Buddy," Arven. And of course, he's gotta have Mabosstiff, it feels wrong to separate them. Arven starts off pretty rough, and I thought for a second *he* might be our asshole rival- but then he sends out a Skwovet he just caught. Some time passes, and we're literally traveling the countryside hunting down Titan pokemon, battling them side by side, all to find Herba Mystica- an herb that wasn't even confirmed to exist- just to save his best friend, Mabosstiff. It turns out, Arven is actually a pretty cool guy, even if he's rough around the edges to strangers. His backstory of being practically abandoned by his parents to study in Area Zero- or in the case of his other parent, LEAVE Area Zero without him- is a rather sad and complicated affair that actually intertwines with the legendary we are given, who he partially blames for his parents leaving him. Couple that with his "parent" suddenly contacting us to come to Area Zero to help stop the Time Machine? And then to find out that his real parent died? Bro has gone through a LOT on his own, and him being so good with cooking makes so much sense when you realize it's because nobody else would do it for him. So of COURSE it makes sense he's desperate to save his dog, that dog is the only family he has that hasn't abandoned him! And guess what? Arven is such a bro that he doesn't abandon US either! He knows he's not the hottest shit, but he's still fighting those titantic bastards right next to us, and STILL dives into Area Zero with us to keep us safe AND give his shit mom or dad a piece of his mind.
Now sure, towards the end, I think it's pretty bullshit that he suddenly decides his mom and dad are super interesting and he should learn more about the people who ABANDONED AND NEGLECTED HIM, but he's been through a lot. I do find it ridiculously charming, too, that he's protective enough of us from even Carmine and Kieran, claiming us as his best friend. He even joins the tournament and challenges us because he truly loves battling with us!
Arven is without a DOUBT the heart and soul of Scarlet and Violet's story, next only to our motorcycle-er, dragon. The game probably would not be nearly as tolerable without him in it, and I gotta say, I'm glad a character like him exists. I hope we get to meet him again in future games, healthy and happy. As a character, he is basically 9.5/10.
As a trainer, I think he's definitely not as strong as Nemona, and he's not worried about that kind of thing either. His team is literally the friends he made along the way to saving Mabosstiff, and for the most part are food themed. It's very fitting and another really charming detail about the kind of person he is. I don't sweat fighting him- at least, not until that Garganacl shows up- but I do have fun, and that's how you make a buddy trainer imo. 9/10 for the intention and detail.
As a design, his hair is a mess, being sort of a fusion of Sada and Turo, but again he does look better in game imo. He's both handsome and pretty otherwise, I can see the hype. He's definitely got that strong explorer look, and even though that backpack of his must be HEAVY AF carrying all of those picnic materials, it does fit him and fit the vibe of a desperate treasure hunter. The outfit goes together really well, with my favorite iteration being the violet colors- I want a uniform like this, but alas, ours is separate to spring and autumn. Appearance wise, he definitely reads as someone that probably should have graduated high school by now, being held back for bad grades or just not turning in assignments- he's got better things to do, tbh. On a design perspective, he's 9/10 as well. Just a fantastic character all around. The literal bestest best friend we've ever had.
Penny is...Okay. I think her twist of being the head of Team Star carries her farther than it should, but her plot to dismantle Team Star with you so that they'll start going to classes again is decent enough, and the reveal certainly is entertaining, plus the Eevee love is super relatable- would've been GREAT if we got a new Eeveelution to warrant it, but I digress.
I feel that a lot of her personality doesn't really start to form until AFTER the Team Star story... and tbh, I kind of see why she was bullied. She's a bitch. A funny bitch sometimes, certainly a smart one, but she is still pretty snooty with people for practically no reason, even just trying to have a conversation. I'm a victim of actual targeted and excessive bullying on a physical, mental, and verbal level, and that shit followed me home, too, because people at school knew where I lived. Under no circumstances do I ever condone bullying- but I do gotta say, if you act like a bitch, you're gonna get treated like a bitch. She does mellow out after befriending us, and I do dig the vibe she has a super talented hacker- also she called our mom hot, that's just the funniest shit ever. Otherwise, I think she's probably the weakest link among our friend group. 7/10 character.
BUT WAIT, She's Peony's daughter, and Peonia's sister! That bumps her back up to an 8. Wait til she finds out we're best friends with her dad lol. I explored the Crown Tundra with that man, and the two of us cleared the Galarian Star tournament together, so I can see her just being gobsmacked to see us being chummy together.
As a design, I think it definitely reads as intended: Outcast nerd with a special interest that doesn't fit in at school. I think the hair is a bit much, and the see through skirt with the shorts was probably only added so we wouldn't think she was a boy, because she does have that vibe. Idk, I know they were going for a vibe and it's counter intuitive to make her conventionally look like something or another, but I can't say it vibes with me 100%. But the eyes? Yeah, that's Peony's daughter. Very subtle, especially the name, so when it was officially revealed in game? That was a great connection.
BUT, I will say this: Why does SHE get to get away with dressing however she wants, but not us? I don't get it. I'm just saying, she should have at least HAD to put on the uniform after all was said and done, just like the rest of Team Star.
I will digress. Design for it's purpose is an 8/10. On a personal taste, probably 7, I really like her Eevee backpack and the color of her clothes, but I really dislike her hair.
Onto DLC characters:
Ah Carmine, probably my favorite of the two Kitakami siblings. "But she's abusiveeee!!!!!" You are an only child and it shows. OR, worse, you ARE Carmine and you don't wanna face it. Carmine is probably the most misunderstood character from the fan side, and I'm sick and tired of it. Why? She's not abusive, she's literally a big sister. Let me tell you, as someone that actually HAD an abusive big sister- I'm talking could ruin my life quite easily with just a little blackmail, has physically beaten me as kids, verbally abused me into my 20s, and much, MUCH worse- Carmine is NOT abusive. She is literally just a bitchy older sister, which is pretty common to see on tv or from my friends' older siblings. Does she need to be knocked down a few pegs and taught a lesson? Absolutely, and that's what happens with us and Kieran around. So chill.
So what is Carmine? A vane bitch, yes. She's fun to bully, a bit like Klara in that regard, but Carmine, I think, has a bit more of a satisfactory rebound to someone more likeable. She's still pretty full of herself, but she's actually very thoughtful of others- The only reason she doesn't want to tell Kieran about Ogerpon is because she knows her little brother is obsessed with it. Keep in mind, she's from a village that has indoctrinated its citizens into thinking that thing was dangerous and killed people unwarranted, and her thought process towards foreigners isn't all that uncommon or strange if you've ever heard or read about things like Logan Paul, or your average Hawaiian native dealing with asshole tourists. Plus, you know, she's from a small town in the boonies- it's not a good thing to be xenophobic, but it is an understandable trait for people from places like that to have, as it's very common around here. Plus, she does come around in the end.
In fact, she's so caring of others that she immediately wants to help Ogerpon upon learning she's perfectly innocent, and even when Kieran is off being emo somewhere, she doesn't hesitate for a moment to try and help US help Ogerpon get her masks back from the Lousy Trio. She asks us to help with Kieran, too, and personally recommended us to Blueberry Academy. She's excited to see Ogerpon in your party again when you battle in Blueberry, too, and is a lot more chill by then. I know, people's worst feared trait: CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! What do you mean this asshole character becomes better? That can't be right!? Jerks are evil people forever and can never be redeemed!
Okay, sure, she could have handled some situations better, but I blame that more on shit writing, which tbh the writers were kind of giving up after the game released in it's shit state. I do hate that she progressively becomes more useless as time passes, and we don't battle her much in Indigo Disc, but I do love her character progression in Teal Mask and how we become closer friends over then. As a character, I'd rank her as an 8. I like her, and I hope we see her again.
As a trainer, and I guess rival? We fight her a few times in Teal Mask, I guess. Her team kinda sucks? But at the same time, she does employ some strategy you probably aren't used to seeing. I know my Hisuian Typhlosion was taken out by her Sinistcha after it survived a weakened Eruption. She could be better, and still has some weaker Pokemon when you first arrive to Kitakami, but that won't last for too long, and I have lost to her once when I wasn't paying attention with a brand new team. 7/10
As a design- I LOVE it. Her hair is really pretty, and it gives me Pike Queen Lucy vibes, who I severely miss. Her eyes are also RIDICULOUSLY pretty, especially in game. She's really tall, too, kinda rare for a girl character in the games- she definitely knows she's pretty, and she's correct. The uniform is the winter one, and it fits just right, and also can be viewed as a subtle description of her character: Cold. The red, black, and gold of her natural self blends in so well with the blue, white, and very subtle reds of the uniform as well. She reads as upper teens as well, maybe about to graduate soonish, which explains her attitude imo lol. 9/10 design
This is also the best render I could find of her Jinbei uniform as well, which is basically just as good as her base uniform all things considered. still a 9/10, wish she wore it more often in Kitakami.
Kieran is the soul of the SV DLC, by all accounts, and I certainly think he's an excellent rival throughout both Teal Mask and Indigo Disc with one of the best character developments in the franchise. Its the reverse of the douchebag rival: He STARTS as your friend and progressively loses his shit because he keeps losing to you, and especially because you take Ogerpon. It is only after surviving certain doom together and knocking off his pedestal that he finally realizes the error of his ways, and we become friends again. I think he gaslit the entire fandom into thinking he was this innocent little uwu shy bean, and while he is certainly empathetic, he's not entirely in the right.
Sure, he believed in Ogerpon before the others- be he liked it BECAUSE it was the monster first. From Ogerpon's perspective, he's just another villager that hates her and is snooping around her den without permission. Maybe we could have told him about Ogerpon sooner, but what good would that do? Need I remind you that we literally had just met him when this shit started happening? All we know is that he's obsessed with the ogre everyone else thinks will kill them. Maybe we shouldn't have lied (we didn't have a choice, shit writing remember?), but at the same time, he could have used critical thinking skills to realize WHY we were lying. When he finally found the truth, instead of immediately helping Ogerpon and forming a bond with her, he starts being mopey and steals the mask, or just avoids her. It's no wonder she sides with us- we actually bonded with it. We helped her fight the lousy trio while he was off being emo. And then when SHE chooses us, he STILL tried to battle us for the RIGHT to catch her.
And the thing is, him snapping and becoming a piece of shit in Blueberry academy is a result of built up resentment. He didn't have to become an asshole just because he hates US now, you know? Sure, maybe to his sister or Drayton, I understand, but he's an absolute dick to innocent people as well and not taking anyone's feelings into consideration, including his own Pokemon. Terrapagos was just curious and wanted to *see* us, not even join our party, and he tosses a Master Ball at it. He's a kid, definitely not in his right mind, but I feel like most of the fans think of him as a "do no wrong" kiddo that we turned into The Joker, when in reality, he's ALWAYS been the Joker, waiting for an excuse to lash out. In fact, Carmine is a bitch, but she cares a lot about others. Kieran is actually a lot more selfish in that regard as a balance- keep in mind that he's an anime teen, and anime teens aren't really the same as regular teens, so he's not innocent in any of this.
But that arc is still something incredible to see unfold. Kieran is a type of rival I've been asking for for years and finally got- crash out and all. He's not the main rival, which sucks, but at the same time, we finally got him! And then? When we make up? We finally have a beautiful friendship again. In Mochi Madness, we even get to team up to stop a psuedo zombie apocalypse. I know a lot of people think we fucked up a perfectly good bean, but the thing is, his flaws and anger MADE him a good character. Things didn't resolve as neatly as I'd like- I personally think the SV writers kinda gave up and just wanted the DLC to be done at some point- but that's a very important aspect about him I like.
Plus... Cmon... You're telling me you DIDN'T take a picture of him when you caught Ogerpon and when you took the championship from him?
As a character, I think he gets a 9. I certainly was hoping that maybe he was under the influence of some malevolent legendary, but it turns out he's the normal one and was just built that way.
Team wise, he starts out pretty weak, but it's a story in and of itself. He uses pretty cute Pokemon at first, mostly just randos you catch in Kitakami- but then he snaps trying to take Ogerpon from you. His first big boy team is a team of MONSTERS- stuff like Shiftry and Yanmega- both oger and oni coded and described- but then you also have some intense strategy with stuff like a Gliscor that has an ice type weakening berry and Hyper Cutter, Probopass with both Sturdy AND a special attack boosting berry, and his Poliwrath has both Belly Drum AND a sitrus berry. About the only thing that stands out is his little Dipplin.
Getting to Blueberry, when he's champion? Bro uses a competitive viable team- He an has a fucking Intimidating Incineroar, aka the scourge of VGC since Sun and Moon in 2016. Then he has a Grimmsnarl that sets up Reflect and Light Screen PLUS Sucker Punch. A Politoed with Drizzle AND Helping Hand that pairs excellently with his Dragonite that has both Hurricane AND Thunder- which does not miss in rain btw- and also holds an Expert Belt. Then he's also got a Life Orb (30% extra damage at the cost of hp) on his Porygon-Z with Adaptability (increases STAB to x2 instead of 1.5) and Hyper Beam, basically he OKO's everything that doesn't resist. Then to top all that off, his Hydrapple has an assault vest- increasing his special defense- but then he TERAS to fighting to avoid the obvious Ice type weakness, and this thing is a monster all on its own.
Now that is seriously a tough rival, and I think one of the hardest fights I ever had. If you wanna troll him, you can even bring out Ogerpon during the fight at BBA and he'll have a small melt down. Probably one of my favorite fights in all seriousness. That alone makes him a 9/10 for battling and rivalry.
As far as designs go, let's start with the basic look: Wet cat. He looks incredibly shy and innocent, and of course reads like a little kid you wanna befriend and protect. It's a trap though, as his eyes have a snake-like glow to really show off just how fucked up he is. Carmine's hair has scarlet undertones, and Kieren has violet, which makes for a nice tie in to the games. I don't really know what the deal with the headband is, but it's fine. I think it's a 7/10, I certainly like the hair better this way.
his Festival Jinbei isn't really much different, just loses all the blues and reds and goes all in on white. Its a fit that looks good and, again, I wish he got to wear it more. 8/10
Ah, and Joker Arc Kieran, probably my favorite look. Peak levels of DOUCHEBAG right here from design alone. He's got his hair pulled back into a man bun that kinda looks like an onion or a peach- and yet that damn peach had nothing to do with him. He's letting his jacket slide off and wearing looser socks- he no really cares about appearances, and to top all of that off? The red tank top underneath. This is peak asshole design, and I really dig it. It makes his breakdown all the better. I do wish we could somehow pair his regular hair with this outfit, but it's good enough. 8/10, I think he could've gone further with the douchebag look with some baggier, longer pants.
all in all, Kieran is a 9/10 for being the crashout rival I've been asking for for years. Still can't believe Nemona beat him.
And with that, we are caught up with protagonists, friends, and rivals up to gen 9, minus ZA, which I will do a more thorough review of once I get more info.
What should I review next? Or should I give it a break? Champions? Box mascots? Legendaries? Evil Teams?

Hi, could you please write a comfort fic for Arven x reader, please? I lost my dog last week and I'm still really sad about it.
of course, anon. I did headcanons instead of a fic, i hope that's alright. I'm very sorry for your loss, and i hope this helps you in some way, however small. Sending you much love.
When he hears the news, Arven is quiet for a moment. Tentatively, he settles beside you.
"Little buddy... i'm so sorry."
Arven really empathizes with you, as it hits close to home for him as well.
He'll hold you close if you need it, letting you grieve all your emotions. He might cry a little if you do, it hurts his heart seeing you like this, but he knows there's not much he can do other than be there for you.
Will encourage you to eat something, even if it's small. He knows how easy it is to neglect your health during times like this, so he'll insist you at least have a few bites of something, even if you aren't feeling hungry. He makes sure you drink plenty of water as well.
Will encourage you to take your time. It's natural, nothing to be ashamed of.
"Shh, little buddy. It's okay, just take your time, yeah? I'll be here."
Will have Mabosstiff cuddle up to you if you're okay with it. The dog pokemon is akin to a warm weighted blanket, and it helps soothe you.
He'll listen to you talk about your pet and might encourage you to think over some fond memories, but he won't push it if it gets too much.
Often times he's not quite sure what to say, so he'll just quietly sit with you and listen when you speak. He'll do whatever he can to help you out, you can count on that much.

Could you do a scenario about Nemona, Penny and Arven with a real who has type null please? Maybe something about it transforming in Silvally?
YES NULL/SILVALLY TIME
I have one in Sword who I call "Bestie", and it's carried me through the Crown Tundra DLC. I want it in Violet so badly aaaa
Also this just reminded me of my fic that I wrote prior to Sun/Moon's release. Ya'll can give it a read if you so desire <3
That being said, this scenario will be like a sequel of sorts
........
Revealing Type: Null--or "Nully" as you've affectionately called it--to your friends was something you were initially nervous about...
But today was finally the day.
Moving away from Alola to attend school here in Paldea was quite the stressful journey, especially for your masked companion who had never know any place besides stark white labs and sandy beaches.
People kept warning you about how dangerous it was, but you never listened...and now your bond with the mysterious normal type has never been stronger.
Ever since you rescued it from an Aether Foundation facility that exploded due to its rampage, it put its trust in you and loved you unconditionally.
Learning the truth behind that supposedly "good" organization and its leader broke your heart. Although nothing devastated you more than realizing Nully had been held captive there as both experiment and prisoner.
You've tried researching its species, checking for notes and hacking into secret files the foundation kept under lock and key--and you discovered that Type: Nulls were basically created as "tamer" versions of Arceus, even having memory discs similar to the plates manufactured. They were meant to kill the Ultra Beasts should they invade Alola.
Instead, they went on a rampage (of course, that's what happens when humans try replicating a god's powers) and were confined to masks and put into cryogenic stasis. The whole project was deemed a failure.
As tragic as it was...you were relieved to have found Nully when you did and get it away from that horrible place.
Even so the mask still made it feel absolutely miserable, but unfortunately you couldn't find any further information on how to remove it without causing your precious Pokémon serious injury. There were no visible clamps to unlock, pulling it off would only cause it great pain, and cutting seemed too risky.
The only benefit was that it made Nully immune to critical hits, but the cons definitely outweighed the pros.
Maybe one of your friends knew more about the Type: Null species, and so you decided to call them all over for a picnic if they had free time.
All you could do was pray that they didn't lose their cool and scare your companion.
That's the last thing either of you needed.
Arven was the first to arrive, with Mabosstiff at his heels as usual, but he stopped dead in his tracks upon seeing the bizarre-looking Pokémon standing by your side. You could tell he was trying not to look too worried, considering the poor thing was hiding behind you now.
Still, it's obvious that he didn't have the slightest clue what he was looking at, so you explained everything to him: where you found Nully, why it looked like a rejected Arceus, and the memory discs you kept in a small folder.
So far, you haven't figured out how to utilize them in-battle. But despite the space they took up in your bag, you refused to throw them away.
"Are you sure there isn't a slot for these somewhere on its mask?" He stared at one of the floppy discs, before glancing back up at Nully, squinting. "It looks like there should be one."
"We've been pals for nearly three years, Arven..I'm pretty sure I would've found the slot by now if there was one." Shaking your head, you took it from him, sighing. "My only option is to get that thing off. The slot's probably on its body somewhere."
"Right...maybe there's a stomach hatch or-"
"¡Mira! You were right, Penny! They do exist!!"
"Nemona, slow down!! They're not going anywhere!!"
Hearing the shouts of two certain ladies from afar, you and Arven looked to see both Nemona and Penny coming over the horizon. The student council president was dragging the poor girl by the arm, with her stumbling to keep up and not lose her glasses.
When they arrived, Penny was dazed and annoyed as she scowled at Nemona, tearing her arm free of her iron grasp. But her attention was quickly set on the peculiar Pokémon who was cowering behind you yet again.
"Wow...I..never thought I'd see one up close before.." Adjusting her glasses, she gazed at Nully with interest.
"You've heard about them before?" You asked.
"Back in Galar, I found some top-secret stuff about Macro Cosmos trying to make their own instances. They literally stole the blueprints from the Aether Foundation."
"...yikes." Nemona remarked, tilting her head as she tried getting a better look at Nully herself. "It seems shy. Maybe a battle will help it-!"
"No battles, at least not right now." You smiled apologetically, patting it on the head as you looked at each other. "I know you're nervous, Nully..but it's okay. They're nothing like the jerks back in Alola who used to pick on us. They're my friends. You can trust them, I promise."
Nodding its head, it relaxed its haunches as it cautiously stepped away from your side, gazing at the trio and seeing their smiles, too.
They weren't looks of pity.
They seemed genuinely thrilled to meet it.
It stood there for some time, taking in everything you've said to it and thinking about how far it's come since you rescued it that fateful day.
Somehow, it knew it was always meant to be your companion--from the very moment you held it as it cried in the Pokémon Center, reassuring it that it's not a monster, but a sweet creature worthy of love and care.
Ever since then, your friendship has grew...and now it feels stronger, willing to put its life on the line for you if need be. Even though most of its powers have been concealed, it didn't feel like some weak and helpless lab experiment.
Oh no.
It was far from that now.
Thanks to your bond, it felt unbelievably strong.
So much so that....the normal-type realized an extraordinary change was imminent.
And you were about to witness it.
"Look! Nully's glowing, [y/n]!" Nemona pointed, her eyes widening as your companion was basked in a familiar light. "Is it evolving???"
"Oh my god...I think so." You gasped, never realizing the possibility of it evolving, but you're now certain that friendship is what triggered it at last.
The most noticeable thing were the cracks that started appearing all over its helmet, pieces of what you assumed was indestructible alien material falling apart. Nully shook its head vigorously, trying to get rid of it as much as possible.
Then it turned its attention to a nearby boulder, letting out a cry before performing a move similar to a Headbutt, ramming into it and letting the rock shatter the helmet completely.
At last, it was free.
When the glow faded, you and your friends gazed in awe as Nully looked back at all of you.
With its mask finally gone, what lied underneath it was a beautiful creature made of both nature and machine, with a beaklike mouth that smiled proudly.
"Nully...?" You murmured, stepping closer.
"Ally." It chirped, walking up to greet you.
Tears began forming in your eyes as your grin widened. "I can't believe it...friendship was all it took to-"
Suddenly, your rotomphone decided to ruin the sweet moment by flying out of your pocket.
It displayed a new entry in your Pokedex, and you grabbed it to read what it had to say, while Arven, Penny, and Nemona checked their own phones.
"I see, you're Silvally now." You gazed back up at Null--Silvally, watching it bow its head respectfully. With a small laugh, you mimicked the gesture, before petting it lovingly as you sighed. "Wow..."
You noticed one of the metal bolts on its face open up like a CD player, indicating that something had to go in there-
"Wait.." Remembering the memory discs, you took one out and held it up. "Do you want me to use this?"
Silvally nodded, although before you could do anything, Arven interjected.
"Hold on, which memory is that?"
"The Dark Memory. It probably just changes its type, but I believe this represents all the pain Silvally had to endure while being trapped in that mask, not knowing what it did wrong or why people shunned it for simply existing." You placed a gentle hand under your companion's jaw. "But now I think it's ready to turn that painful memory into power. So let's see what happens.."
"Silllllv!"
Carefully inserting the disc into the open slot, you watched as it closed up. Then you stepped back, seeing the colors and spikes on its body turn smoky black.
Even its eyes changed, and when they opened they looked even more menacing than ever.
And they stared directly at you.
With a low growl, it crept closer to you, while your friends held back..tense and worried that the pokedex entries were correct: this wasn't something you could so easily control.
There was probably a very good reason for the mask-
Yet any hostility Silvally seemingly expressed disappeared, as it smiled and licked your cheek affectionately, causing you to laugh once more. "Hey, that tickles! C'mere you!"
Hugging its neck, you grinned as you received even more kisses, hearing it purr with happiness. You petted its feathery crest, relieved that it completely trusted you now.
"Wow..it's way cooler than Arceus!" Nemona laughed. "Do you think I can battle it-??"
Silvally just shot her a wary look, and she immediately fell silent, a nervous smile on her face. "Haha, you're right. Not yet. But I swear we're gonna have an epic battle one day!"
"Yeah, one day. But for now, I have something special for this big guy."
"Sill?"
You managed to regain its full attention with a simple yet supereffective move of your very own:
It's called "chin scritches", something that none of your other Pokémon could resist receiving.
The mask obviously made it difficult for Silvally to receive proper affection back then...and you vowed to find a way to break it so you can do just that.
Now it was free of that awful and heavy thing, having a brand new life to look forward to: battles, friendships with other Pokémon, and more.
Even better?
Your three closest friends in all of Paldea were here to witness its evolution--a sign that despite all the odds...your bond was unbreakable.

DanDaDan x Pokemon pt. 2
My last post got a good amount of attention, so thank you for that everybody. So here is part 2! This will only include characters that are introduced in the first season of the anime. (very excited for season 2!!!)
Seiko "Granny" Ayase
Naturally, Seiko's team is comprised of nearly all ghost-type pokemon. I tried to choose pokemon that fit her 'vibes' and aesthetically look good, as well as those with folklore inspirations.
Spiritomb was an obvious choice. It very much falls into the "paranormal" category of pokemon, at least to me. It may also have roots in both Norwegian and Buddist folklore and myth. The wisps around it's face also resemble prayer beads. (thank you Bulbapedia for this information (Link))
Mabosstiff was chosen over Houndstone purely off of vibes. He reminds me of a grumpy, old dog that growls at everybody but is very affectionate. I also have a bit of a soft spot for Mabosstiff (*cough*Arven*cough*) and I felt like it fit with Seiko's aesthetic better. It also adds some much needed diversity to her team, being a dark-type.
Froslass was a pokemon I was originally going to give to Momo, but thought she would work better for Seiko's team. Obviously she is a ghost type, but she is also a bit feminine. Froslass also draws inspiration from the Yuki-onna or 'snow woman', a yokai from Japanese folklore. I felt like this folklore inspiration would work better with Seiko.
Gengar was yet another obvious choice. To me, Gengar is the ghost-type pokemon. It has both a mega and dynamax form and Seiko's Gengar can definitely do at least one of those.
Gourgeist is much like Froslass being a feminine ghost-type pokemon. I went between Gourgeist and Trevenant for a bit and, frankly, I kind of with I had chosen Trevenant.
Annihilape was a pokemon I knew I needed to add. I wanted Seiko to have a ghost/fighting type and (honestly, having forgotten Marshadow existed) Annihilape immediately came to mind. I could have given her a Marshadow, but I don't want to give characters mythical/legendary pokemon unless it perfectly fits. Thanks to Bulbepedia, I learned that Annihilape could have inspirations from Japanses Onryō or vengeful spirits. (Link)
Aira Shiratori
The big "theme" for Aira's team is fast, feminine and pink pokemon. I wanted pokemon that either hit hard, move fast or look cute (or a combination of the three).
Sylveon is a bit of a selfish choice. I love eevee and it's evolution so I came up with the idea of giving each member of the friend group an eeveelution of some kind. Sylveon is a pretty, pink fairy-type pokemon that (according to Ultra Sun) will "unflinchingly charge at dragon Pokémon that are many times larger than itself."
Mienshao was a pretty obvious choice. She has a feminine aura about her and is a fast, hard-hitting fighting type pokemon. Her long-furred arms remind me of Aira's yokai form in a way. Aira's Meinshao could also be a shiny, since it's shiny form is pink.
Hatterene was another obvious choice. She is a pretty pokemon and a fairy/psychic type. I was a bit surprised to see just how low Hatterene's speed stat is. It only has a 29 base speed state, although it makes up for it with a 136 special attack stat. Hatterene's dex entries consistant mention how it is feared by other pokemon and is quick to lash out. I feel like this is fitting for Aira, especially post-Acro Silky.
Lopunny was the first pokemon I thought of, strangely enough, specifically it's shiny form (unfortunatly I couldn't find any good images of shiny Lopunny, so just pretend this one is shiny) and its mega evolution. It's lated dex entries specifically mention it's powerful kicks and and how fast it is. Plus it is a very feminine and pretty pokemon and I could see Aira being very close with her Lopunny, especially since it evolves with high affection.
Polteageist was a very last minute addition, replacing Alolan Persian. I want for the main characters to have at least one ghost-type pokemon. I only remembered this when I started drafting this post and realized something was off about Aira's team. I feel like it fits with Aira's "sophisticated" persona and was the best ghost-type option for her team.
Galarian Rapidash was a hesitant choice for me. It does have a solid 105 speed stat. and is a fairy/psychic type pokemon that fits the pretty aesthetic I was going for. It's Shield dex entry cemented this choice for me though, "Brave and prideful, this Pokémon dashes airily through the forest, its steps aided by the psychic power stored in the fur on its fetlocks." It is fast and proud. It's Sword entry mentions how powerful it's psychic abilities are.
Jin "Jiji" Enjoji
[Spoiler Warning for the Cursed House Arc of the Manga or those who only watch the Anime]
Frankly, I wasn't sure about what to do with Jiji's team like I was the others. As I thought about it and Jiji's character, the pieces fell into place. His team is intimidating, powerful pokemon, but not necessarily malicious ones.
Krookodile is a pokemon I am going to have to explain. Nearly every one of it's dex entries mention how cruel and dangerous it is, but then I raise you the anime. Ash's Krookodile is not like the Pokedex describes, it's a bit of a jerk but grows to become a vital part of Ash's team. I imagine Jiji as a very 'Ash-like' character. He would have raised Krookodile since it was a Sandile, gaining it's respect and friendship.
Dusk Lycanroc was another semi-anime inspired choice. It's dex entries mention how it is typically calm but becomes fiece in battle and I feel like that fits with Jiji. It's combination of a quadrepedal body, dramatic mane and orange color make it fit with Jiji's aesthetic.
Jolteon doesn't really fit with the 'vibe' of the rest of the team, I guess. But I think it fits. To me, Jolteon has always been the most dog-like of the eeveelutions and Jiji gives me massive canine energy. Jolteon also provides an electric typing that I think the team needs.
Banette is the needed ghost type and is inspired by Jiji and his connection to the Evil Eye yokai. Banette is a pokemon that was a doll, abandoned by it's owner and seeking them out. It reminds me of the Evil Eye's backstory with being abandoned and his very child-like mindset. I think Jiji would be sympathetic towards Banette, like he was with the Evil Eye.
Lucario was a last minute addition, but I think it fits. I wanted more than one fighting type and Lucario stuck out. It is a pokemon that evolved with friendship and is very connected to the aura and emotions to those around it. Also, I just really like Lucario and I think it's stoic attitude would be interesting compared to Jiji's goofy demeanor.
Emboar is inspired specifically for its Pokemon Black, Pokemon X and Omega Ruby Pokedex entries. Each mention that it cares deeply for it's friends and I think that is also true for Jiji. It is an intimidating, powerful and large fire/fighting type but at the same time, it's a good friend. I think Emboar would have a very similar personality as Jiji, being a bit goofy and unserious, but deeply compassionate and friendly.
Yay!!! Part two!!! Any other part's I do will have a pretty big Spoiler Warning attached, since I want to cover the character's from the manga that haven't been introduces yet in the manga. I should totally do Peeny-Weeny/Mr. Mantis Shrimp!
Like before, feel free to suggest characters for me to cover.
