ExValk worked because Shu was 15 layers of OCD, Perfectionism, Superiority Complexes and Narcissism all mashing together to manifest in the most unhealthily demanding and condescendingly patronizing (genuine) love possible BUT. Not only did he (forcefully) recruit someone Raised Christian (unconfirmed but Come On) enough to take it. The other person he found was enough of a freak to be Into It.
