Fans and being butt hurt they aren’t getting what they want.
So I've been noticing a lot lately everytime  Supergirl posts a new trailer on Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, the comments are dominated by these:
“Give us Supercorp!”
“End Lames!”
“Bring back Mon El!”
#JusticeforMonEl
I have to ask, what the actual hell guys? Is this all these fans are capable of?
Karamel fans, guys, Mon El is gone. He isnt coming back. His story line was wrapped up, yes there is potential he could maybe come back one day but that doesn't mean that the writers have to pander to your demands, The show has moved on. Chris Wood has moved on and is doing new things.
Supercorp fans, guys, I love Supercorp to! But im well aware of the fact that this is NOT going to happen. No matter how much chemistry the actresses have together I am 99.9% sure that Kara and Lena wont ever be a couple. Im more worried about them not remaining friends! Can’t you be happy with all the fan work out there? Hurling abuse at the writers and actors is not going to get you what you want.
GuardianCorp/Lames, guys, I can’t stand James and Lena either, i visibly deflate when i see them on screen together But im not hurling abuse on social media or sending hate to Mehcad Brooks. Why because that is crazy behavior! You will survive seeing a relationship you can’t stand, i promise you will.
Some of you use the posts to have an all out war with each other, i dont care if you think Mon El was/is a slave owning misogynistic abuser. The weekly posts for the episode isnt the place for you petty arguments. Mon El is gone, does it even matter anymore? I dont care if you think Lena gets to much screen time and is over rated, the weekly trailer isnt the place for your ridiculous grievances. I really can’t deal with GuardianCorp, but the trailer isnt the place for me to voice that.
The sad thing here isn't all this nonsense, but the trailer itself is being ignored. In this weeks case we have the first ever Transgender superhero and its hardly being recognized or talked about. The writers and actors dont owe you a thing. They may consider ideas but everyone wants something different, they can’t cater to you all and they dont have to. Why not be grateful for the fact that you have a Supergirl show? Stop demanding ships happen, stop demanding ships end, stop demanding they bring back characters that have gone. There is nothing wrong with your ship, Sanvers isn't there anymore but the ship is still there. Karamel is gone, but you can still enjoy what you have been given. Supercorp is valid, you can enjoy what you see and the countless fan work out there. But please take a damn chill pill and stop being butt hurt the writers arent giving you what you are demanding.
“This is the ship we deserve!” sorry peeps, we dont deseve anything. We arent entitled to anything. We take what we are given and hope for the best!
Last note, all of the above doesn't mean that all shippers are awful, A few Supercorp shippers throw some hate, doesn't make all of them awful. A few Karamel fans throw some abuse, doesn't make them all awful. You get the point.

Supergirl - ‘Crime and Punishment’ Review
Tumblr media
Supergirl: "Years of helping people, wiped away with one lie."
This is one of those episodes where I simply enjoyed, or at least appreciated, nearly every moment of the various storylines.
I felt the profound dismay of Supergirl at how she is currently being called a traitor for something she did not do. Even when she rescues someone who was trapped in a car that was about to explode, he turns on her.
I appreciated Mehcad Brooks’s excellent acting when he was being treated for PTSD, especially the terror with which he reacted when the doctor tried to approach him and to reassure him. Of course he’s having some other problem (becoming a real superhero?) due to the super drug that Lena whipped up for him. Can we hope that Lex is also having some after effects?
I admit I didn’t enjoy Ben Lockwood’s appearances so much. That doesn’t mean that his appearances, or President Baker’s scenes, were not well done. I think that’s because I’m reacting viscerally with negativity to the characters.
Brainy had an off moment when he shouted his intention of being clandestine (by now he should know better) but the rest of his scenes were excellent. It was fun watching him make his way to the restricted area, how he tricked the security systems and then bluffed his way past the guards. But what was better was his hesitation when he was about to do something illegal. He doesn’t know if his action could backfire.
I thought the thread showing how Alex asked James’s sister Kelly for advice about how to work with her boss was also excellent. The advice apparently backfired; Colonel Haley saw straight through Alex and knew she was being manipulated. Nevertheless, at the end, Colonel Haley finally came down on the side of the good guys. I would argue that the manipulation actually worked. Note to everyone: when you’re trying to persuade someone, don’t expect instant conversion; often your efforts need a little time to take effect. Haley’s speech at the end was a little on the nose (Supergirl is not especially subtle) but it was also cathartic.
The scenes between Brainy and Nia Nal were enjoyable and witty. I liked how, while holding a pastry, she said that she was suffering and couldn't eat (obviously able to eat). Still, I’m not sure how I feel about the fact that Nia Nal refused to help by dreaming for him. I suppose her refusal to help (or rather, her delay in helping) was needed for the episode, but it felt unnecessarily petty.
I thought Stryker’s prison, with the corrupt warden, and all the other prisoners, was very well done. We met the warden earlier (and now he’s dead, so we never will again). Lex’s cell was over the top (of course) and so was his manipulation of his half-sister from afar.
The best new character was Steve Lomeli, the man who is in prison for releasing DOD documents. That was a crime (and such things have to be crimes) but he did it out of overall conviction. I liked how he can’t stand Supergirl but has a tremendous amount of respect for Kara Danvers. The best moment for Steve Lomeli was when the prisoners were all dropping to the floor, and Lomeli reached out his hand to hold the hand of another prisoner who was trembling with terror.
And then, my favorite bits of the episode: Supergirl turning back into Kara Danvers for some interactions in the prison, and how she ends going back to Stryker’s to speak with Steve Lomeli, another member of the fourth estate.
Title musings: “Crime and Punishment” is the title of the episode, and it is also the title of a book by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Admittedly it has been decades since I read the book, but the episode doesn’t strike me much like that particular book. However, there are plenty of crimes and plenty of punishments to go around.
Bits and pieces
Ethan Hunt, referenced by Brainy, is the name of the protagonist of the Mission Impossible series.
At the end of the last episode, J’onn J’onzz was seen flying off in his shapeshifter spaceship to go to Mars to bury some sacred objects, so he wasn’t around in this episode. As much as I enjoy David Harewood, I think this was good. Following another storyline on Earth would have been difficult – J’onn hasn’t been that integral to the main plot ever since he left the DEO – and I really didn’t want to try to become invested in a whole bunch of new characters on Mars.
We also didn’t see Lex Luthor or Red Daughter. I’d like to see how Red Daughter is reacting after her attack on the White House.
There’s been no mention for a while now that Supergirl cannot let her dear sister know that she is both Supergirl and Kara.
Of course "Stryker's Island" was created to sound like "Riker's Island."
Quotes
Lena: Justice. What a crock!
Supergirl: If the government wants to stop me from helping people, let them try.
Brainy: Ah, spruck! There is a perfect 50/50 chance that what I am about to do is absolutely wrong.
Kelly: You can’t change people. But you can appeal to who they are.
James: I’m Guardian. And I protect people. … I feel like I shouldn’t need help. I feel like I should be strong enough to get over this. Of course, if you have a magic pill, I’ll take it.
Nia Nal: What does your gut tell you? Brainy: That decisions should be based on facts, and not on intestinal inclinations.
Overall Rating
I feel as if the series is working particularly well now. Part of this is due to the introduction of Lex Luthor, as having a worthy villain is always good. But Lex Luthor, with all of his contraptions, can sometimes be over the top, and although his influence was felt in this episode, he didn’t make an appearance. I think the tension is due to the fact that our main character, Supergirl, has great conflict going on. Her whole thing is saving people, and that is being taken away from her. I love, too, how she is going to fight back – using her arsenal as a reporter. Even though this episode had a few minor flaws, I’m giving it four out of four mighty pens.
Victoria Grossack loves math, Greek mythology, Jane Austen and great storytelling in many forms.

Hi Tatiana!!!! I haven't asked for a flash related gifset in forever but 4x02 resurected petty barry and petty barry is my son lmfao. would u mind giffing all the time barry was petty towards eddie/w*sthawne while eddie was alive and as a bonus add barry being petty in 4x02 😂😂😂 mind u i never hated eddie, but just like barry i never cared about him. he served his purpose🙄
An attempt was made!
Okay so how was Felicity acting in S4? cause I’ve seen some people say “I hope Iris doesn’t become the Felicity of the Flash” what does that even mean?
It means they hope Iris doesn’t get more screen time or speak her mind, because they can’t stand when a woman is important to a superhero narrative in a way they can’t ignore.
(Also, even though they want Barry and Iris to break up so that she won’t matter anymore, they don’t want it to happen in a “dramatic” way that makes Barry still think and care about her because that defeats the purpose of making women irrelevant.)
After reading all the comments it becomes very apparent why so many fanboys are losing their minds. I think a good chunk of it is them hating the idea the male lead recognizes he hurt someone then corrects his actions and behavior accordingly…but they want to think Barry can do no wrong and certainly wouldn’t change himself for a woman. Second the idea that Barry needs love and support from Iris to be the Flash…when they rather Barry not need Iris to be The Flash ½When you realize whats happening it becomes clear that a lot of them are extremely childish, unable to emotionally sympathize, and hate the idea of a woman speaking her feelings and asserting themselves. We can’t reason with these people and we certainly are not going to change their minds. I’ve learned to shut them out a long time ago and if any of your followers are feeling stressed about all this I suggest they do the same 2/2
That is correct. They idolize Barry, but in the way where they think he has internalized their POV instead of them internalizing his. They can’t actually see things from his perspective, because that would require being mature, considerate and not bigoted.
I totally agree, though. If it stresses you out to see Iris hate, you gotta just block. Let those who have fun doing battle, or who want to try and fail to educate, handle the schoolyard bullies.
The thing is racist fanboys will always find something on the show to shit about. This reminds me an awful lot of 3A when Cisco spent 5-6 episodes being mad at Barry over flashpoint and being the cause of his brother’s death. The amount of hate and negativity Cisco got was mind blowing. So many of these so-called “fans” turned on him the minute Cisco felt anger towards Barry. Sadly Iris is their main target. All we can do is love and support CP because I doubt they’re going to stop being racist.
Tumblr media
I do think a good portion of this hate will quiet down next week. Without the same group that always hates her will continue to be loud a**holes but I think by 403-404 it won’t be as intense. For better or for worse Iris wasn’t just for the focus of 401/402 but the writers made her the main source of conflict in the episodes. I know they aren’t trying to do her dirty but its a lot for two episodes in a row. I think keeping Iris the focus but not the source of conflict will ease things up.
I hope so for everyone’s sake, and that’s why I’m looking forward to tweeting Iris Best (shameless plug!) on Tuesday, so that we can focus on the positive and ignore the dudebros and white feminists.
It seems like all the dctv fandoms are especially messy lately. SG fans have been sending enough hate to Chyler & Caity because of the Sara/Alex storyline in crossover that they actually made a video where they had to remind people that they had nothing to do with the writing on the show. And then there’s the people sending Mehcad hate (some of it racist) because of the potential James/Lena relationship.
I’ve been seeing it and, man, is it all ugly.
Yeah, I definitely think it’s worth noting that (most) casual viewers watch the show as it is and have no idea about the conspiracy theories, crack ships or OTT Iris hatred from a relatively small but loud group of fans. I was a casual fan in S1 and when I did become aware of the fandom sometime in the middle of S2 I was surprised and confused to find out there had been so much vitriol directed at Iris. I had no clue. I’m pretty sure it’s the same for most casual fans.
Casual fans certainly tend to have less OTT opinions that haven’t been cultivated over a long time with like-minded angry fans lol.
I have taken many breaks from the Flash fandom due to how disgusting it is. I only come back to support the queens, Iris and CP and Westallen. But I’m going to do what I’ve been doing: Watch the episodes with social media off. I find myself to be very happy when I do.
Taking breaks is good and watching in a way you enjoy is even better! Glad you defend Candice, though. :)
