REQUESTS ARE OPEN !!!!! okay this has been a long time coming for me but would you be open to doing a general iroh and kya’s daughter wedding piece ? i feel like that’s the only part of their relationship we haven’t seen !
a/n: was so excited to get this request bc i love these two so much!!!
~ based off of these headcanons ~
“You look beautiful.”
“I think I’m going to puke,” you utter with a nervous laugh, anxiously fidgeting with the ceremonial pins in your hair that you just can’t seem to get straight.
Sighing, Kya carefully pushes your hands away before adjusting the pins herself. The golden ornate pieces had been a gift from Zuko, said to have belonged to his late wife and worn on their own wedding day, and though you were grateful for the thoughtful gift you also felt that an immense amount of pressure came with them. Marrying Iroh meant you’d officially be part of the royal family now, and a part of you was worried you wouldn’t be able to live up to the expectations that came with that.
“It’s normal to be nervous,” your mother consoles, stepping back to admire her work once the pins are set. “Today is an important day and the start of another adventure for you, but it’s nothing you can’t handle.”
“I don’t feel like a real bride,” you admit in an almost defeated tone. You stare at your reflection in the mirror and find yourself carefully brushing your fingers against the crescent moon hanging from your neck. The coolness of the stone against your fingertips brings a sense of comfort to you, but it doesn’t relieve you of your nerves.
“Are you having second thoughts?” Kya asks with a worried furrow of her brows.
“Of course not!” You’re quick to interject. “I love Iroh, I can’t imagine a life without him anymore.”
“But?” Your mother prods.
“But… What if I’m not good at being a wife? What if I’m just not… not good at all. He’s the General and the son of the Fire Lord. What can I give him that he doesn’t already have or that he couldn’t get from a Fire Nation woman here?”
Smiling faintly, Kya gently takes your hands in her own and gives them a comforting squeeze. “That boy loves you more than you could ever know. I see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice when he speaks about you. I wouldn’t have given him my blessing if I wasn’t one hundred percent sure of this. Don’t compare yourself or waste your time wondering about all the what ifs. All you have to do today is focus on Iroh, and everything else will take care of itself.”
You let out a shaky breath and blink back your tears before throwing your arms around your mother in a tight hug. You know she speaks the truth, and her comforting words greatly ease your anxiety. You’d fallen in love with the boy from your childhood, and he’d fallen just as hard for you if not harder. Despite being apart for so many years you’d found your way back to each other and helped one another find the missing piece in your lives. You and Iroh are simply meant to be, and your wedding will be proof that.
A gentle knock on the door has you parting from your mother, and as Bumi sticks his head in the doorway you smile.
“It’s almost time, kiddo,” he says with a grin. “The general’s going to get his socks knocked off when he sees you.”
“Thank you, Uncle Bumi,” you laugh tearfully before allowing him to hug you tight. You don’t know this, but Bumi has always felt a sort of paternal love for you. He was the closest thing you had to a father growing up and you were the closest thing he had to a child, and like your mother he felt so much pride and love at seeing you so happy. He knew you were in good hands, and that was more than enough for him.
“Are you ready?” Kya asks with an encouraging smile. Sucking in one final nervous breath, you nod before taking her arm and beginning your walk to the palace gardens.
In the courtyard a handful of chairs are set up for your intimate ceremony. Only close friends and family are invited, neither you nor Iroh wanted to make a grand spectacle of your marriage, so you decided to hold your wedding in the gardens with his mother Izumi as your officiant.
At the end of the makeshift isle, Iroh stands in his uniform with a fire lily delicately pinned to his lapel. He shifts anxiously from one foot to the other eagerly awaiting for your arrival. He’s been looking forward to this day ever since he proposed to you, and he can’t wait to finally make you his wife after all this time.
“You make a handsome husband, son,” Izumi compliments from her place beside him. “It brings me great joy to see you so happy.”
“Thank you for agreeing to officiate the wedding, mother,” Iroh expresses gratefully.
“I knew it was a matter of time before you two fell in love,” she notes with a careful smile. “I know she’ll make a wonderful wife.”
Beaming with pride, Iroh’s gaze falls upon the garden gates where you finally emerge. Arm linked with Kya’s and with a bouquet of flowers in the other hand, you make the most radiant bride Iroh has ever seen. Your gown flows elegantly behind you as you walk, your hair sparkles from the sunlight hitting the pins, and your smile is enough to take his breath away. He can feel himself beginning to tear up, and it takes everything in him not to rush towards you and take you in his arms himself.
Kya hugs you tight once you reach the end of the isle, doing her best to keep her tears at bay before letting you go. Carefully tucking a stray strand of hair away from your face, she smiles before handing you off to Iroh.
“Take good care of my daughter,” she whispers before chastely kissing his cheek.
The butterflies in your stomach are quieted when you finally reach Iroh. Nothing else but him matters in that moment, and as his golden irises stare into your own you find yourself falling in love all over again.
“You look so beautiful,” he whispers with a tearful laugh.
“So do you,” you smile, carefully wiping your tears so as to not ruin your makeup.
Your ceremony goes without a hitch, and when Izumi officially proclaims you as husband and wife Iroh gracefully dips you before giving you the most passionate kiss you’ve ever experienced. Your family and friends cheer and applaud, but it all fades into the background as you grip his sleeves and melt into his touch.
“I can’t wait to spend forever with you,” he professes earnestly after parting from your kiss.
“Forever and always,” you agree breathlessly before pulling him down by his collar for another kiss.

Does Katara ever meet Hakoda and Sokka in your Half Blood AU?
Omg yes!!! That's basically the scene that gave birth to this entire AU, in fact. I love confrontations, family discord, and internal conflict in narrative, so most of my AUs have at least a little bit of that. I don't want to give too much away yet, but Katara, Sokka and Hakoda's encounters are Huge, Important Scenes in the HalfBlood AU.
Hakoda has no idea Kya was pregnant when he left her, so he doesn't know Katara is his daughter when he first meets her. Not for long, though. She looks a lot like Kya, and the necklace around her neck doesn't leave much room for denial once Hakoda notices it.
Sokka had been a part of his father's fleet for years at that point—he will be at least five years older than Katara, already a child when Hakoda met Kya. He will be the first to meet Katara, possibly while looking for a healer for the Southern warriors after a battle, or something like that. Katara would have been traveling with Zuko for a while now, and they're helping a group of refugees when Sokka comes along asking for help.
Sokka knew nothing about his father's lover. The only one aware was Bato, and he disapproved of it because he Hakoda's wife was his younger sister, so their relationship is strained and uneasy.
And Katara doesn't really want to have much to do with Hakoda at all. I'm toying with the idea of Hakoda trying to create a bond between them once he realizes she's his daughter, only to explode in his face once the truth comes out. Or, he could mention Kya early on, maybe whisper her name in astonishment when he notices Katara's resemblance, and she catches up pretty quickly.
Point is, Katara isn't happy, Hakoda is conflicted, and Sokka is facing a side of his father he never knew existed.
Sokka and Katara's relationship is surprisingly easy going, though. They have some issues, of course, especially at first, but they bond pretty quickly. They're nowhere near the relationship they had in canon, but they can get there with enough time.

The double standard Zutara shippers have towards Mai vs Katara is absolutely icky. I saw a post a while ago (don’t remember the user) and screenshotted all the Mai can’t vs Katara can points. I’ll paste them here:
- Katara threatening Zuko if he dares to hurt Aang is a sign of reprimanded sexual tension, but Mai joking about Zuko never daring to break up with her again it's her being controlling.
- Katara screaming at Zuko that, to make her forgive him after he proved to have changed and be a better person to everyone else, he'll need to bring back her dead mother, as if 10 years old Zuko is responsible for Yon Ra killing Kya, is fair. Mai screaming at Zuko to leave her alone after he made a scene insulting her in front of a crowd is abusive, violent and toxic.
- Katara treating Zuko badly after he saved her from being crushed is legit and deserved. Mai slapping Zuko's hand away from her in two separate occasions because he wouldn't stop invading her boundaries after a highly emotional moment is harsh, undeserved and abusive.
- Zuko mocking Katara and telling her that he'll save her from the pirates is cute. Zuko being actually cute with his girlfriend is cringe and obviously something he didn't want to do.
- Katara splashing Zuko when he was kneeling down in the southern air temple episode is justified. Mai throwing a SHEET OF PAPER at him after he broke up with her and ghosted her is abusive and violent.
-Katara touching Zuko's scar in the catacombs to heal him is cute and a moment of trust. Mai touching Zuko's scar multiple times and him not being bothered by it in the slightest (even burying his scar in her hair) is a breech of trust and consent.
- Katara having many guys who have a crush on her throughout the series means she has rizz and that she's a catch. Mai having one boyfriend other than Zuko makes her a slut.
- Mai and Zuko being childhood friends to lovers is cringe and an overused trope, but then you'll go on the Zutara tag and find multiple fanarts of childhood friends Zutara AUs
- Katara establishing boundaries and making her stance on breeches of trust well known with multiple characters is good writing. Mai breaking up with Zuko after he lied to her multiple times means that she isn't worth sticking around, and is so selfish that she'll leave Zuko in a moment of need.
- Katara had three children while Mai only had Izumi, which means Katara is a better woman (yes, I've actually come across this kind of disgusting comment.)
- Zutarians claim that Katara is apparently reduced to a housewife and child bearer with no agency as Aang's wife (she is a well known master, wonderful healer AND politician as she made bloodbending illegal in canon), and would be better off as the fire lady (????), but at the same time Mai is nothing special because she is just the fire lord's wife while Katara is a master. Like, make it make sense. Being a fire lady is either "demeaning" for both or for neither.
+ Zutara fans making Izumi Zuko and Katara's daughter, and then proceeding to make a rant on how Mai is NOT Izumi's mom despite her looking exactly like Mai and Michi PLUS having "fountain" a significant name in Maiko's love story, in her name.
I’ve been silently reading all the anti zutara here and thought of sharing my piece. I would like to hear what you think too
God, the Izumi one pisses me off the most because:
1 - Neither Katara nor Zuko would EVER just refuse to raise or even acknowledge a child of theirs. Katara's whole trauma is about having to grow up too fast after her mother's death. Zuko's whole trauma is growing up with an abusive father that kicked him out of the house. They would NEVER abandon a child of theirs.
2 - Neither Katara nor Zuko would ever forgive a former partner if said partner had a kid with them and then abandoned said child, again, because of their own traumas.
But also HOLY SHIT, zutara's brand of "feminism" never ceases to shock me. "A better woman has more kids"? Seriously? And here I thought the worst take I'd ever see from them was "Zuko needs to marry a woman of a different race because his genes are bad, but he is one of the good ones, and Katara could fix his defective genetic that makes his kind more likely to be violent - no, I never heard the term 'eugenics', what's that?"
And yeah, funny how they're constantly going on and on about how being Fire Lady would totally "empower" Katara, but the second Mai is the one to marry Zuko, suddenly that role is oppressive and disrespectful towards a woman.

LinZin Headcanons
This is just mine so please if you aren't fond of the ship, just don't bother reading it. I don't really need hate right now. Also, my English isn't that good.
Tenzin has had his eyes on Lin ever since they were children, but because Lin is pretty vocal about not having kids or getting married he didn't pursue her. Not after talking to his father, Aang told him that no one knows what the future holds and he should follow his heart and what makes him happy. That's why they started dating and became a couple, but when his father died the Air Acolytes put a lot of pressure on him and Pema's confession was the final nail to the coffin, that ended his rocky relationship with Lin.
When they broke up Katara comforted Lin instead of his son. She understood why he did it but that doesn't mean she approved or thought it was the right thing. Katara knew that Toph wasn't someone who could give emotional support so she gave it to Lin.
Toph made Tenzin's life a little miserable after the breakup. Showing up to Air Temple Island almost every day and did a lot of pranks on the young Air Master. He tolerated it because he knew he deserved it.
Kya, Izumi, and Su (despite her not-so-good relationship with Lin) sent Tenzin letters of disappointment about the breakup.
After the breakup, Tenzin didn't stop sending Lin presents on her birthday. He didn't gave them to her personally but through someone else, like Lin's officers, staff, or even his sister Kya. Lin knew about it but she still accepted the gifts. On the other hand, Lin stops sending him presents but always made sure that she greets him through Kya. Tenzin looked forward to hearing it from his sister every year. Kya hated being the messenger but she does it for Lin anyway.
When Tenzin and Pema got married, Lin took a vacation for the first time.
Lin got tons of suitors but never entertained them because she knew they weren't the one and it'll be unfair to have their hopes up and end up wasting both of their times.
The early years of marriage were difficult for Tenzin because whenever he looked at Pema, he could still see Lin. He learned to truly love his wife when Jinora was born.
Tenzin hides it but he secretly likes that Lin remained single all these years because the selfish side of him believes that if he can't have her, no one can.
On Tenzin's 50th birthday, he invited Lin. She didn't come but when Tenzin snucked out and went to their secret place he saw a gift that Lin left. Tenzin did the same for Lin's 50th.
Tenzin made a betrothal necklace for Lin and Lin made a pair of metal rings for their engagement. They weren't able to give it to each other and still kept the items to themselves.
Tenzin still has a key in Lin's apartment. However, he only used it whenever Lin was sick or there was an emergency.

The Forgotten Ones

(Just some angsty venting with my ocs Silver and Robin's ghost-cub Kya, and a surprisingly good therapist).
"Feel better?"
Silver nearly jumped out of skin at the voice, Kya letting out a tiny squeak as her hands gripped the pup extra tight.
"Sorry! Sorry. Didn't mean to spook." Humphrey apologised, his head lying on its side beneath the bed.
Steadying her breathing, Silver soothed both Kya and herself by stroking the cub's velvety soft ears.
"You've been there the whole time?"
"Well...yeah. I didn't wanna disturb ya, love. Seemed like you wanted to be alone...more or less. And I couldn't exactly quietly shuffle out, so...."
"You just thought you'd enjoy the show?" She accused.
Humphrey went quiet.
He'd been stuck in that room since the early hours of the morning, having skidded across the landing and through the walls after being accidentally kicked by Kitty as she'd excitedly dashed to the ballroom.
Eight hours of boredom, meditation, then more boredom, then replaying his favourite Monty Python sketches in his head, followed by more boredom had passed. Then his solitude had been interrupted by the sound of a screaming match from the other end of the house, followed by Silver entering the room that was now mostly used by Robin but had once been shared between him and their dearly departed peasant farmer.
As he'd been about to sigh in relief and call her attention over so he could finally be picked up before that rather large spider got too close to his nose, the girl had collapsed onto the floor.
She was crying. Distraught, even.
Tucking her legs up to her front, she'd huddled close to the window and wrapped her arms around herself. No. Humphrey squinted and saw that she wasn't alone. Kya was nestled against the black fabric of Silver's boob tube, the Neo Pagan stroking her tiny head as she rocked herself back and forth.
Once again, Humphrey opened his mouth to ask if she was okay. Then he heard what she was muttering.
"Artemis, Diana, Luna light, take away my endless plight. Artemis, Diana, Luna light, take away my endless plight."
She repeated the chant, the mantra, over and over, her eyes staring out into nothing.
It broke Humphrey's heart to see her this way. True, he'd never been as close to her as Mary or Robin or Kitty. But she was one of the few who made an effort to always pick him up when she found him. And he admired her usually positive outlook even if she did seem to have her head in the clouds, or rather the stars. Same as the caveman really, just with better speech and body odor.
It was rare that smile ever seemed to leave her face, even less so to see her cry. He thinks this might be the first, at least for him. More than ever, she looked like a child.
And the way she was praying for comfort to whatever was troubling her....reminded him of Her.
His twelve year old wife gritting her teeth and clutching at her rosary, mumbling a hundred Hail Mary's as she knelt on the hardwood floor. Even then, when he was only a kid himself, he knew she was praying to be taken away from this place. Away from him.
Humphrey knew it was wrong to be watching. Sophie had taught him that well enough the last time. But he didn't really have a choice this time. Sure, he could close his eyes but not his ears.
He left her to her pray. Let her seek comfort in her faith and the texture of Kya's fur. Only when her breathing had evened out and she'd quietened down, did he speak.
And nearly gave her a heart attack it seems.
"Again, sorry. Just wanted to leave you to it. I know this room is important to ya."
Silver sat on the windowsill, the wolf cub stretching her paws up against her nape.
"S'fine."
He'd never heard her sound so quiet.
"D'you wanna talk-?"
Silver shook her head.
"No, no, that's fine. No worries. If you want me to sod off, feel free to toss me out the door. Preferably not the window though, if you don't mind, if I land in that rosebush I'm gonna be stick chatting to hedgehogs for a week, haha."
She didn't seem to react. It was almost as if he were talking to a doll. Or a living.
"Someone upset you?"
The young woman shrugged.
A yes, then. Right?
"I'm sure you could set Robin on them if you wanted-."
She looked at him, a hardened edge to her blue eyes, red raw from crying.
...Oh.
"Wait. 'Weren't Robin the one who upset you, was it?"
Another shrug. But this time she spoke, her voice croaky.
"He didn't say anything. He was running around with Julian, playing pranks on Mike, winding him up." She explained; "I found Kya in the kitchen. She was all alone. The others were all upstairs. Someone had just left her there...when I asked who saw her last, they all said Robin had put her there before going off with Julian..."
"Oh, I know that feeling."
Silver sniffled as Kya whimpered against her. She rocked her gently, turning to look out the window.
Out towards the woods. Her bed. Her room, or close as can be. All the way across the field.
"I found Robin and just...started screaming at him. How could he just leave her? She's just a baby. She's blind, she's helpless, she can't even crawl far on her own!" Silver cried; "He calls himself her dad but then just abandons her when there's something more fun to do..."
Humphrey didn't think that sounded entirely accurate. Robin had carried that cub in his furs for as long as he'd known him and rarely was she ever just dumped like people did to him.
"What did he say?" He prompted.
"That he only meant to leave her for a few minutes, he was gonna be running and jumping a lot and didn't want her being disturbed. I said he should have given her to Kitty or someone but apparently they'd been in the kitchen at the time and also left...so I ended up screaming at all of them."
"Right." That explains the earthquake earlier.
"....And then my chest became really tight and the room was spinning. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think. I knew it didn't make sense to get that upset but I just couldn't stop screaming. And they were all looking at me like....like..."
"Like a stranger?"
When she met his gaze, he knew he'd hit the nail on the head.
"How d'you know that?" She asked.
"You ain't the only one who's lost your temper."
"Really? You?"
"Going on five hundred years here! I know I might seem like Mr. Cool and Collected but I can be pushed to the limit as well." He stated.
At that, Silver got off the windowsill. Tucking Kya into her front pocket, she scooped Humphrey's head off the floor and placed him on the duvet before sitting crosslegged beside him.
"Oh, much better, thank you very much." The Tudor smiled; "It's not just Kya you were upset for, was it?"
The Pagan wiped her eyes.
"I never really noticed it much when Mary was here. But ever since..." She bit her lip, the wound still raw. Humphrey wished he could pat her hand; "I wake up and for me no time had past. A month ago was yesterday. But so much has happened. And usually I love listening to what I need to catch up on. But there's things I can't. Like when I notice Cap and Kitty have somehow gone from her hating how bossy he is to him suddenly acting like her dad. Or the secret jokes between Robin and Julian I'll never get. Or just...those little moments that make them all feel connected. Like a family."
"It makes you feel like an outsider looking in, hmm? I mean I live here and I get that."
Silver let out a half laugh, half cry.
"We need to start hanging out more."
"We do." He agreed; "Think it will do us both not to bottle things up have someone to talk to. Someone who gets it. And who, unlike one of us three here, can talk back. No offense, Kya."
The cub let out the tiniest mewl and Silver nearly smiled, holding her beneath her chin.
"Good to have someone who cares." She mumbled.
"Ey, come on. We all care about you, love. Especially Robin, he adores you."
"He's not here though, is he? He didn't come to check on me? Or Kya."
"Maybe he knew you wanted your space. I mean, you didn't exactly invite me in. He worries about you though. He told me himself."
"Why?"
"Well. When you go off hiding like this and when your mood seems to shift so quick but you don't tell us what's wrong. Not having a go, I'm just saying. He knows it ain't...normal. Your situation. The whole time perspective has to be a headache for you."
She didn't reply, just looked at her hands.
"You don't need to try to hide it behind a smile for us, Silver, darlin'. It's only gonna get worse that way. And Robin knows better than any of us, ghost brains can be as fragile as livings. I've had to talk him through some pretty dark moments of his."
"So you all think I'm a nutcase?" She scoffed.
"Not sure that's the PC term, but no. Just that...you run the risk of losing your grip on everything if you don't let people help. That fair?"
Silence. A long, thoughtful stare at the cub in her hands.
"Yes, Humphrey, that makes sense, you're so wise and handsome! And oh thank you Miss. Ravenstar-."
"Piss off." Silver snorted, nudging him over with a light push of her knuckles.
He let himself topple, just glad to get a smile out of her, reluctant as it was.
Again. Just like Sophie.
"....Okay. Fine. Sometimes I do feel like I'm losing it. Like I dunno where I am or rather when I am...I feel like the world is passing by without me and no one...No one really cares if I get left behind." A tear leaked from her eyes.
"Oh, sweetheart. I'm sorry. You always seemed like your dreams made you so happy."
"They do. But they're still just dreams. You guys...this...It's the only reality I've got. And most of the time it feels less a part of me than where I go to when I'm asleep. And sometimes when it gets so bad and I feel so left out that I go to sleep wishing...."
Humphrey blinked; "Wishing what?"
"...That I won't wake up the next month. Or the next. Or ever again."
Somewhere, wherever his stupid body was stumbling about, he imagined it was stumbling from that blow to his chest.
"You know we'd all be in bits if that happened, right?" Not Moving On. Just forever cursed to sleep in Purgatory.
She shrugged; "You'd get over it. You'd move on."
"Silver."
The teen got off the bed and wiped her eyes.
"I should go find Robin. I'm sure he feels bad enough by now and Kya wants her dad, for all his faults." She sounded so flat. Dejected.
"Silver, love, sit down-."
"Thanks for the talk. I'm glad someone else understands. Or...actually I'm not because it sucks that anyone should feel this way. But I'm glad I know I've got someone to talk to..."
Humphrey sighed; "Of course, sweetheart. Anytime. But please, wait-."
"If I see your body around, I'll lead it up here." She took a breath and plastered that cheery smile on her face before walking towards the door. "C'mon, Kya. Back to the show."
Humphrey watched the girl leave, cursing the God he'd stopped believing in for giving her such a cruel curse to live with in death.

Hello Jalebi, how are you? Hope everything's good. I have been following you for a couple of years now and am in awe of the work you put to keep this fandom alive. You are truly amazing! So for my ask, this scene where arnav is intentionally rude to kushi after that night he fainted and she took care of him and Anjali made Arnav realise that he has feelings for kushi and Arnav is literally in shock to realise that indeed he cares for her. My question is why is he shocked? He already came to that realization after the whole "kushi might be in an accident" scenario, I mean by the end of it he is minutes away from proposing her. He wanted to hate her after the contract marriage but he couldn't. Isn't that why he always looks haunted? Like there is internal battle all the time. So why is he so shocked when Anjali tells him something that he already should have known? Thanks for taking your time to answer this .
Hello Anon!
I'm doing well :) Thank you so much for the love - reading these always gives my fuzzy feels <3 <3 <3
I have very complicated feels for that scene because Anjali clearly saw Arnav belittle his wife and lie to her and she just romanticized it all under the pretext that he doesn't want Khushi to feel guilt.
She doesn't even confront him, she's like "aww you love Khushi, you care for her, that's why you're being a piece of crap to her..."
Which makes me wonder if Anjali ever was truly happily married or just twisted everything in her life to make it all rosy?
In fact the whole scene doesn't make sense. Arnav made a mockery out of Khushi's care and he's not just telling her he was unwell - he said after knowing she spent all night looking after him and caring for him.
And this is a woman who loves to sleep.
Also the whole scene of Khushi caring for Arnav despite him treating her terribly is taken straight out of abusive relationships.
Arnav being abusive wasn't the issue - the fact that they tried to romanticize this was.
Which is why it felt like a forced moment so as to the audience doesn't "hate" Arnav for lying to Khushi because "oh he's in love".
Khushi - too - irritated the hell out of me during the Swami track - but this was also the show rewriting any growth Arnav and Khushi had so... they could lengthen the show? I don't know tbh.
Lol, Arnav being surprised matches my surprise cause for the life of me I couldn't see whatever Arnav pulled was a reaction of love.
I don't understand any of it tbh. It's one of those plot points where I'd lift and put it somewhere else in the story where it would make more sense - like the scene itself makes more sense when Anjali tries to counsel Khushi on how to get closer to Arnav (his aversion to affection) and then counsel Arnav on how he should open up further to his wife.
There - this makes more sense than whatever we saw.
So tbh, I don't understand that scene and motivation. I think the intent was to show that underneath it all Arnav cares for Khushi and that whatever he tried was to distance himself from the growing attachment to Khushi despite her 'treacherous' character.
And in my opinion, this would've been better translated if Arnav actually closed himself off from Khushi and she gets frustrated why he's being in a certain way until he snaps.
Arnav playing games is a trait - post Diwali angst was so so so well done - but it was done to prove a point. His selfish need to show Khushi that he fits best in her life than whoever she's engaged to and it matters to her where he shows his affection (it was toxic but written damn damn damn well). They tried to show this is a revenge for the Swami track but that also was so horrifying to me, so...
Kya bolu ab? They kept showing progress between the two and then scrapping that progress for whatever reasons they best know which is why most of post marriage feels like a loop instead of fitting cohesively.
Which is understandable considering TV shows are, unfortunately, written daily based on TRPs instead of plotlines.
Best,
Jalebi

Day 7 - Faith/Rituals of love
"Come on! Say it, Nikita. It's a ritual."
"But I don't know how to make one on the spot. You just happen to be good at that, Aai."
Nikita and Trisha held a post-wedding get-together exclusive to certain relatives and close friends. They had come a long way since their first meeting at a jogging park 5 years ago.
Although Trisha was a couple years older than her, they got along very well. Trisha loved to make others laugh and sometimes Nikita laughed at her unfunny jokes just to see her proud smile. She was also a great friend. She always looked out for others, including Nikita. She always checked up on Nikita when she did not come to the park. One time, when Nikita came down with a fever, she came to her place by herself and then took drove her to a doctor.
It took them a six months-long friendship for Trisha to confess that she is bisexual is to Nikita. Nikita could not help but immediately come out to her at the very moment. Ever since then, they started slipping their presence into each other's lives more often. Then the obvious happened. They slowly realised what they felt for each other from a long time, was not one-sided at all. The confession was kind of a mess as it happened due to a playful flirting session between them that ended up with them kissing. But they worked it out in the end. Nikita could not even believe how quickly the time passed since their confession. And now, they were married.
"Ukhana doesn't have to be perfect. Just try it. It's the ritual that matters." Aai said.
It took some time for Aai and Baba to accept her fully. She came out a couple years ago. That time, they were shocked and worried. But later on, their daughter's happiness became the top priority for them. They still seemed hesitant some of the times as they were still not very used to the whole concept. But they were still learning. They were trying their best and that was enough for Nikita.
Surprisingly, Ashish was present at the gathering too. When Nikita came out to him, his reaction was positive. He stated that he forgave her 'betrayal' because he completely understood her situation. They got divorced for the better. But ironically their friendship got stronger after the divorce. He had been one of the few people who wholeheartedly supported Nikita's identity.
"Okay. I will try to say it." Nikita said nervously but also with a hint of excitement. Trisha winked at her ; To motivate her or to wish her luck? No one knows.
Nikita took a deep breath. It had been a long time since she said an ukhana. The last time was during the Satyanarayn Puja after her marriage with Ashish.
This time Nikita had to say ukhana for her the person she truly loved, Trisha. It was a little confusing. "How could I describe my wife in just some little poem?". She thought. Trisha deserved a thousand poems written about her. And Nikita would write those thousand poems but she would not want the world to know a single word of it, as if it was only reserved for Trisha.
Nikita pushed her too-many thoughts away and started reciting the poem
"Tujhya premachi challi ashi jaado
Prem geet aiktana tu lagli disu
Kontyahi phula peksha jaast sundar
Aahe Trishacha hasu"
[Translation: Your love had such magic on me
I started seeing you everytime I listen to a love song
No flower in the world can compete
The beauty of your (Trisha's) laughter]
"Waah! Waah! Kya baat hai!" Yelled Nikita's friends enthusiastically, as if they were attending a poetry recital.
Nikita gasped "You guys are trolling me. That was cringe. "
Then, Nikita heard a laughter to her side. Her wife was laughing. Her usual stern voice sounded very light. Her cheeks were brushed with a shade of pink.
"Oh my god!" Trisha said between laughs "That's the cutest thing I have ever heard. I loved it, Nikita."
Nikita's ukhana was completely true. In fact, not only flowers, but the beauty of the entire nature could be seen Trisha's laugh. She was truly lucky to have this woman as her wife.
...
@desi-lgbt-fest
#desilgbtfest23#desi lgbt fest 2023#desi wlw#desi queer#teju writes#svdjegeejejejeke I know the ukhana is very bad#I can't write ukhanas to save my life. sorry.#but i still wanted to write something about it for this prompt

FAMILY COCKTAIL
haseena is packing her bag, she and her husband are going to meet ks, who is anu's sister, she was on mission from last 2 years so ks don't even know that her brother got married.
haseena is very happy because as soon as her husband showed her photo, she remembered that once her friend told her that there is a shemale bull who fucks very rough. hm remebered her.
once they reach at ks's home,
they met maid, "we wanna meet karishma singh" , "mam is having her bath in swimming pool, you should wait here"
"no i will go now" and then hm ran to swimming pool, while anu was bringing bags.
"dekhiye aap mat jaiye wha" maid was saying that which disturbed ks and she became angry, "kitni baar bolna padega not to disturb me, fir bollogi 1 hafta chala nhi ja rha. jab kha jaye tab baat toh manti nhi ho" ks said angrily
and then ks saw a cutie running toward her and maid behind her
"hey cutie who are u ?" ks asked while coming out of pool
"u are karishma singh na ?, i am anu's wife" hm said excitedly, she can see imprint of ks's tool through her boxer.
"ohh wooow..!!, tum jao" she said to maid, and saw her brother coming,
she went to anu and held his balls very tightly and squeezed it, giving anu extreme pain,"aapne shadi karli bina apni behn ke, bhaiya that's not right"
"behna amma ko hi jaldi thi, aur hamko iss time bhut jaldi hai kyuki hamme mission pe janna hai, bass isko chodne aaye the, hamko toh bilkul nhi pasand ye" anu said
ks left his balls and anu ran to his car.
ks turned to hm, "okay so, what's your name bhabi ji"
hm blushed at this and was looking down, she was extreme wet after seeing ks's curves and abs. "ji haseena malik" hm said fearingly
it was enough for ks to understand hm, she picked hm on her broad shoulder
"karishma ji aap ye kya kar rahi hai"
ks spanked hm hard and said, "its daddy for u"
Haseena pov
She threw me on bed,
"See babygirl, your eyes are screaming and begging me to fuck u, did any ever touched u"
I shaked my head
"Awww my baby girl don't worry now u have your daddy to take care"
" But daddy....... " I was worried about any
" U have me, I will be responsible for everything, u just relax and enjoy" she said
I just hugged her tightly and kept my head on her chest
" So tell me baby, what do u wanna do with daddy ? "
" Cuddles, movies, be in your arms, and sex at night. I always want a caring dom who is rough in bed. " I said
" Okay baby, don't worry you have me" She said while wrapping her strong arms around my body giving me all the comfort I need. She tapped her phone and all the lights were off and the curtain closed, tv was on.
"Baby here is the phone, order whatever u wanna eat" she said, I turned and did my back toward her chest still in her lap. I made myself comfortable on her chest and order some pizza, wrap and coke. I returned the phone and took daddy's fingers, started sucking it. She pressed her fingers on my tongue, to which I whined. She released my tongue, I played with her fingers using my tongue for some time when there was a knock on room, I panicked and hid myself under sheets,
Maid came and kept all food on table making me relax, once she was gone, daddy said,"baby u wanna have your come now or after some time"
"Daddy I have cock to enjoy" and started licking her dick, she moaned at this. And pulled me up. "Not now love, otherwise you will regret"
"Okay daddy"
We both remained in that position for almost the whole day watching movies one after another.
But trust me, her fingers are most tasty. These pizza and other things are nothing in front of daddy's fingers.
After some time, I said to daddy, "Daddy do you know you once have one night stand with my friend. She told me that you are very rough, is that really true ?"
Next thing was daddy driving me crazy, I was literally begging for her to stop but she didn't stop, she kept fucking me. But once she felt enough, she left me in room with fast breath. I was just concentrating on my breath while I felt myself picked up. I wrapped my hands tightly around her neck. She picked me up in bridal style. I realized she was taking me to basement. I wrapped my arms more tightly. And kissed her chest. I smiled when I felt a kiss being pressed on my forehead. I was wearing no clothes while she was wearing only a white shirt. Once we reach downstairs, I said to daddy, "daddy, I am really very tired. I can't have more sex"
I said this because I knew that almost every rich person have a basement full up with many sex toys which they wanna use for bdsm play.
"My love, I know my baby is tired and that's the reason I arranged this for u" she said while going in a hot tub. It was not as big as the swimming pool she had upstairs but not too small. I was in her muscular arms while she moved in water, and sat on something. I believe it's a shelf inside the tub. I was having water till neck while she was having till chest. I smiled at sudden relaxation which I got because of hot water. "Are u enjoying this my love ?"
" Yess I do"
She smiled and press a kiss on my forehead. Don't know why but I am getting addicted to her forehead kisses. "Baby, do u think u can stay with me and leave anu for rest of your life. Don't think about society or anyone. Just tell me what u want"
"I really wanna be with u, I feel happy and safe in your arms. Please do something so that no one can make us apart" I said while melting in her arms.
"Okay my love now be tension free rest thing I will take care." She said
We remained in silence for some time. And after that I looked up at her when I felt I was being starred, she was just looking at me with complete love and affection. I blushed at this, while she awwed and hugged me tightly.
We just talked about random things, when suddenly she said, " you will leave your job"
I was unable to say anything because she didn't asked or she said with any doubt. It was her order.
"But daddy what will I do whole day"
"See the thing is, while I am on break from my job, we both will be together day and night. Once I go on any mission, u can stay home doing some art or timepass but no job"
"But daddy I don't know anything"
"Then learn it, but no job"
I remained silent thinking what to do.
"Don't u think we should go now ?"
"Daddy can't we somehow sleep here, it's really good"
"Okay, stay here" she said while keeping me on the shelf.
After 2 mins, she brought a very big thing almost the size of 1 and half bed and dropped it in water. It was floating on water.
She came In water and picked me up in her arms and went up on it. It was extremely soft. I immediately hugged her tightly. And we both slept peacefully.
Haseena pov
This morning, when I woke up, I felt myself on daddy's body. Her body was warm and I always loved being in her strong muscular arms. It always make me feel safe. I looked up at her, her face, she was looking so hot. I looked o
Down at her chest and her boobies. They were heavy and they had a proper shape. I was unable to resist myself. I started licking those boobs and I put her nipple in my mouth.
She hissed and woke up. She saw me and patted my head, "Baby, let's go and be ready. Today we will spend the whole day outside"
I poured and put my tiny hand on her big boob. I squeezed it but she remained unaffected. She then used her hand and squeezed mineee..
" Ayyyyyyiiiiiii" it was really very painful. I almost cried, she did that with another and said,"Awwww.....my baby, your tiny hands are not that strong to hurt me"
I remained silent not wanna get more hurt by her. She put me on her broad shoulder and went in the bathroom. We both got ready while playing some teasing game. Once we both were ready we ate sandwiches as breakfast with some juice.
Now we both went in car. It was a big black Jeep and she sat on the driver seat while I sat on another, but I didn't found imthat comfy so I shifted in daddy's lap. I wrapped my arms around her neck and head on her shoulder. While we both were going, I just remained in her lap. Once we were there, she asked me to be aside but I said no I wanna be here, she just smiled and picked me up.
I was clinged to her while we both were in mall. Some of them were looking at us and were somewhat commenting but who cares, they didn't have the love and attention I am getting from my daddy. We went inside the shop to get some clothes.
"What would you like to have ?" A lady asked in very professional way.
I looked around and saw a hoodie black in colour, looking perfect.
I pointed at that hoodie, the lady nodded and brought M size, I frowned and said, "bring XL size "
Daddy looked at me and said, "Bubba this is for you not for daddy"
"Yess but I like oversized clothes and specially these type of clothes can be wore by both of us and also I like wearing my domme's clothes"

Asami knew something was wrong when she woke up to a quite house.
Normally by this time, Korra was up and exercising.
Be it Yoga, Dance, Running or Swimming, Korra was always up, and so was her music.
But today? Silence.
After she was dressed the young CEO slipped quietly downstairs to locate her girlfriend.
She caught up with Korra in the living room, the younger woman was cocooned in a fleecy blanket, she was breathing hard through a blocked nose and she was cuddling poor Naga like a Teddy bear.
Asami frowned and approached the sofa, she knelt down and kissed Korra's forehead to wake her up.
Asami:- K-bear, your burning up, are you okay?
Korra:- (snuffling loudly) I'm fine Sami.
Asami:- Well judging by how blocked up you sound, I'm going with your not fine. Come on, let's get you back to bed.
Korra:- I'm not going back to bed Asami, I have to get to work. I'll just pop a couple of cold and flu tablets and I'll be golden.
Asami:- (raising her eyebrows) You know as well as I do, that as soon as your mother takes one look at you, she'll send you home. Then it'll be me who'll get it in the neck from your parents.
Korra glanced up at her girlfriend, but her usual sparkling blue eyes were dull. She lay there for a moment longer before she sat up, then groaning loudly grabbed her temples to try to counteract the throbbing in her head.
Korra:- urghh.
Asami sat down next to her girlfriend, and put a comforting arm around her shoulders.
Asami:- Baby, your not well, come back to bed, please? For me?
Korra:- Fine, but it's not because I NEED to go back to bed, it's because you asked me to.
Asami:- (smiling indulgently, nodded) whatever you say K-bear, are you going to be okay climbing the stairs?
Korra:- I'll be fine Sami, you get ready for work.
Korra stood up and promptly fell back down again, groaning her displeasure.
Asami:- what was that about you being fine? (Smirking mischievously).
Korra grumbled her displeasure while she wiped her dripping nose on her sleeve.
Asami scooped Korra up in her arms and stood up with her.
Korra:- SAMI put me down!
Asami:- You can't even stand up Korra, you'll never make it up stairs.
Korra pouted her displeasure as she was carried upstairs.
Once snuggled up in bed Asami kissed her forehead and quietly left the bedroom.
. . . . . .
Korra woke up to her bedroom door being crashed open.
Standing in the doorway were her parents.
Korra:- Mummy? Bubba? (She croaked sluggishly).
Kya:- Korra! Ow my baby, tell mummy what's wrong.
Kya swept into Korra and Asami's bedroom, sitting on the edge of the double bed and stroking Korra's sweaty hair out of her eyes.
Kya:- Lin! Lin, she's burning up, get the car, we need to go to hospital.
Korra:- it's just a cold mum, relax.
Kya:- Relax! Don't you tell me to relax young lady, I'm your Mother, I haven't relaxed since the day you were born.
Rolling her eyes, Lin entered the room and forced Kya to stand up by the shoulders and looked her wife in the eyes.
Lin:- Kya, sweetheart, we talked about this.
Kya:- (sighing she looked up to Lin's eyes) Korra's an adult, she doesn't need to be babied.
Lin:- That's right sweetheart. (She turned to Korra) I have to get back to work little one, try to rest.
Korra:- Okay Bubba, I love you.
Lin:- Love you too little one.
. . . . . .
Hours later and Lin arrived back at the Sato mansion the same time as Asami.
Lin:- Have you heard anything?
Asami shook her head as the two walked in.
The sounds of the television told the new arrivals where to look.
Korra was curled up on Kya's lap, wearing a fluffy polar bear onesie, chewing on her sleeve.
Asami:- (whispered to Lin) where'd Korra get the onesie?
Lin:- (rubbing the bridge of her nose) Kya brought it from home, it's Korra's comfort onesie, we got it for her after she lost her baby blanket.
Asami just staired, she had no idea her girlfriend ever had a baby blanket.
Kya:- Okay Pumpkin, let's put you down for your nap.
Korra:- (Very sleepy from her cold medicine simply nodded) Yes mummy.
Lin:- Kya, you promised.
Kya:- (looked up gilterly at her wife) But hun, I got my baby back.
Lin:- Your 25 year old baby sure. Asami's home now, you've done your part, let's go.
Kya's lip trembled, but nodded, leaving a sleepy Korra on the sofa, she followed her wife out.
. . . . .
Five days later, in the pool area, swimming with Asami
Korra:- (breathing heavily after her 100 laps) You know, I keep getting this weird flu dream, that my Mums came round, and Mum totally babied me for a full day while you and Bubba were at work.
Asami:- (giving Korra a mischievous smile) Ow, it wasn't a dream, that totally happened. (She swam up to her girlfriend's personal space and whispered) you looked very cute in your comfort onesie, but then again, I bet you missed your baby blanket more.
Korra's mouth hung open as she staired at her girlfriend in horror.
Korra:- (muttering softly to herself as Asami climbed out of the pool, roaring with laughter) that's it, I'm banning my parents for life, it's happening.

Iroh x Lin Beifong’s daughter request happy ending
Original post here
I tagged some people who said they’d like to read the happy ending too. Hope you like it!
Tagged: @yellowbadgermole @kawaii-genic @random73
____
You woke up in a bright place and your first thought was this was some sort of afterlife. Then a shooting pain shot through your side and you realised you were wrong. You clutched your stomach and saw a large number of bandages and could feel the wound underneath. You held onto it gently and looked around. There was a window at the far end of the room letting in lots of light but it was too far away for you to tell where you were. You jumped at a sound nearby and turned to see your mother snoring softly in a chair just beside your bed. “Mom?” you called and she jolted away violently. “Y/n” she gasped and you looked back her confused “mom what happened? Where am i? What happened?”. Your mother ignored all your questions and just hugged you tightly. “You...I almost lost you” she said through choked sobs and you hugged her back soon crying too as everything came back to you. The last thing you remembered was everything fading to black while you lay in Iroh and your mother’s arms. “How am i...” you hesitated to say alive but your mother knew what you meant. “Korra” she said simply smiling “and to think i disliked her at first....she was amazing, the second she heard you were injured she came charging and she managed to pull you back from the brink of death, Then we got you to Kya and she managed to stabilise you while we made the journey to Katara”. “To Katara? So we’re...”. “In the southern water tribe” Lin nodded “Katara said your wound was one of the worst she’d ever seen, if it wasn’t for Korra finding you when she did and Kya’s constantly stabilising on your journey you’d be...” your mom trailed off tearing up again and you took her hand “mom it’s okay, i’m fine now”. “You’re not fine, you’ll need bed rest for another month at least and plenty of fluids and food to restore your energy. It’ll be a while before you back on your feet and that is a good thing! You’ve been working far too hard, I’ve pushed you far too hard. You need time to just relax and work things out”. You paused confused what she meant by that comment when the door opened. “I got some new linen Ms Beifong and some food for...” Iroh trailed off when he saw you awake. He froze and then promptly spun into action. He dropped everything he was carrying and ran to you “Y/n!” he cried “you’re awake! You’re awake! You’re...”. You smiled as Iroh grabbed your shoulders and stared at you intensely “Iroh? You’re here? But I thought we were in the water tribe?”. Your mom chuckled “we are, this one couldn’t be separated from you. I slept in this chair every night and he slept in that one” she said gesturing to a chair on the other side of you “he’s been here for the whole 2 months and only left your side to go fetch you things”. “2 months?” you cried “you’ve both been gone that long? But mom your work and Iroh your army...surely you’re both greatly needed?”. “Do you think we care?” Iroh cried “y/n we both thought you’d died! When you stopped responding I...but then Korra appeared and she saved you. Those moments I thought you were dead were the worst of my life but when I felt your pulse everything was okay because you were still here. Since then I knew what mattered most to me and it’s you. So I don’t care about my work or my country’s needs. I won’t abandon you, you’re my priority and you always will be”. You blushed vividly and stared at Iroh unsure what to say. Your mom stood up and patted your back “I’ll give you two some privacy but remember take it easy?”. You nodded and your mother left closing the door softly. You looked at Iroh and paused “Iroh you don’t have to drop everything for me”. “I do” he replied instantly “I realised I’ve been so worried about stupid things like my family and what other people think. I’ve been so worried about being rejected or looking like a fool I didn’t tell you how I felt but that all ends now. Y/n I love you and I want to be with you. I don’t care if I have to leave the fire nation or my job...as long as I’m with you I’ll be happy. All I want is you...if you want me too that is of course, I know this might have changed you perspective on some things too...”. “It has” you agreed and you saw Iroh pale nervously. “It’s made me realise I’ve been too cautious as well. I let my career and your title stop me from pursuing this and for what? I told myself it would all be worth it and then I almost died, it all would have been for nothing, so you’re my priority too Iroh, I love you too and I want to be with you”. Iroh grinned and kissed you in reply. You smiled kissing him back and could feel Iroh holding you in place so you didn’t hurt you. You separated and Iroh leant his forehead against your eyes still closed “you’ve made me the happiest man in all the four nations”.
And so you and Iroh finally started dating. You stayed in the water tribe for another month recovering and then moved back to republic city. Your mother gave you a year off to heal and you and Iroh spent that time together. He initially took leave from work to look after you but you eventually managed to convince him you were okay and he went back to work. A few months after your return you accompanied Iroh to the fire nation. He hadn’t seen his family in too long and he wanted to introduce you formally as his girlfriend. You were nervous given the fact you had no royal blood but his family didn’t care. They told you how they knew Iroh had always loved you and so they decided to let him be happy and placed no obstacles in your path. You were welcomed to the family and were thrilled as was Iroh. A year after your accident Iroh proposed.
You were on his boat overlooking the sea like you did most evenings when Iroh grew quiet. He excused himself from the table and you watched him go worried before turning your attention back to the sea. You heard him return and turned to make she he was okay to find him knelt on one knee holding a box. He opened it to reveal a fire nation hairpiece that was so extravagant you knew exactly what he was about to do. The hairpiece looked fire nation but on closer inspection, you saw Iroh must have had it custom made. It had the Beifong insignia entwined with Iroh’s family crest and was a copper colour as opposed to the shining fire nation gold all to reflect your earth kingdom heritage. You looked from the hairpiece to Iroh and were surprised to see the war general looked nervous. “I know we’ve only been dating formally for just under a year but I knew I loved you since we were 19 so I know we’ll stand the test of time and I don’t want to wait a second longer to make you my wife so what do you say?”. “Yes of course! you cried and Iroh swept you up into a hug.
You were married the following week, a small ceremony with only your family and friends. You didn’t care about the splendour or traditions, you just wanted to be together and your families respected that. After that you and Iroh moved to Republic City where you were both based with work. You eventually did become chief of police but you made sure to never again let your work take over from your personal life. Iroh also continued to rise through the navy and was respected by all his sailors. You visited Iroh’s family in the fire nation regularly and your family in the earth kingdom just as frequently. You and Iroh lived out the rest of your lives together and made every second count.

Steambaby Week Fanfics
So I've been swamped with work and writing my Zutara / Bridgerton / Pride and Prejudice fic, so I haven't had time to create any new content for @steambabyweek.
But I have rounded up all my existing steambaby stories for your reading enjoyment! FYI, mild spoilers will be referenced, so I'm placing them below the cut both for that and because this post got very, very long...
Technically, I've written about the steambabies in 3 different universes. So I've split them up for clarity's sake, with the most expansive AU at the end.
Color Code: Firebender, Waterbender, Nonbender
SOUVENIRS UNIVERSE
Souvenirs We Brought Back From Ember Island – Zuko and Katara share an intimate evening together the last night at the Ember Island beach house before heading out to confront Ozai and their destinies the next morning, only to discover several weeks later that they brought back a surprise souvenir from that encounter…
Rated M for suggestive content and referenced adult situations, though Chapters 10 and 11 where the steambbs make an appearance are SFW.
Steambabies in this series:
Crown Princess Izumi
Prince Tulok
Princess Kya (not born yet when the story ends, though will end up being a nonbender)
ZK BIG BANG 2021
A Present Fit For A Fire Lady – Fire Lord Zuko struggles to come up with the perfect present for his wife to celebrate their first wedding anniversary. Unbeknownst to him, he’s already given them both the best present of all.
As this fic ends with Katara revealing to Zuko that they’re expecting their first child, there aren’t any details about the actual steambaby. However, as this was part of the Big Bang event last year, there are lovely artwork pieces included, not to mention two incredible original songs written just for this story!
THE PHOENIX AND THE DRAGON SERIES
Phoenix and Dragon – Set during the series that I wrote for Zutara Week 2020, back when the pandemic first started and forced us all indoors and I had waaaay too much time to kill. This chapter introduces the first four steambabies and features the announcement that they’re expecting triplets as well.
(Yes, I went overboard when I gave them seven babies in this series – I blame being a new fanfic writer at the time and getting carried away – but like the Bridgerton family, they had a ton of babies because they wanted to, though after #7 they decided they were DONE.)
little rays of starlight– The Fire Lord and his wife take their infant daughter out on a trip to see the Southern Lights during the crown princess' first visit to the Southern Water Tribe. Features protective Dadko fussing over keeping little Izumi warm against the South Pole winter and just overall tooth-rotting fluffiness. Guest appearances by Sukka, who are expecting their first baby in this fic, and Taang, who aren’t engaged yet but will be soon.
The Fire Lord and the Sunstone – takes place when Crown Princess Izumi is just shy of 2 years old. The royal family inherits Druk after the Fire Lord and the Avatar are summoned back to visit Ran and Shaw. A cute fluffy oneshot that has baby Druk becoming fast friends with the eldest steambaby.
A Fire Burning in Her Bones (WIP)– Crown Princess Izumi has always dreamed of someday bending fire or water like her parents, following in their footsteps and making them proud. But when Izumi discovers that she’s a nonbender, she must learn to carve her own path, while learning more about her parents’ history and her nation’s role in the Hundred Year War in the process. I've gotten sidetracked by other fics since the last update, but I will finish this story one day. Hopefully.
Fun Fact: There's a 13.5 year age difference between the eldest and youngest of their kids.
Steambabies from this series, plus some fun facts / trivia about them if / when I ever get around to writing more fics in this AU:
Crown Princess Izumi
Twins - Prince Hanzo and Princess Kya
Prince Shunsui
Triplets - Prince Lu Ten, Princess Ayuko, and Prince Mihiro
Izumi – eldest child and daughter, born 3 years after Sozin’s Comet
Gold eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: fountain, water
Skilled with broadswords, learns from her father and later Master Piandao
Crown princess; introvert; birthday falls in the same week as the anniversary of the War's End, which coincides with her parents’ wedding anniversary as well
Most like Zuko in terms of dry sarcasm; constantly feels need to prove herself especially compared to her prodigious younger sibling Hanzo (essentially a gender-flipped Zuko and Azula sibling rivalry but on much, much friendlier terms)
Favorite subject is history; favorite treat is SWT seaweed cookies
Hanzo – eldest son and the elder twin, born approximately 5 ½ years after Sozin’s Comet
Gold eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: to hide, half
Named as a shout-out to the real-life legendary Japanese samurai Hattori Hanzo/Demon Hanzo. The "Demon Hanzo" nickname also gave me Blue Spirit vibes as well, ngl
Occasionally uses blades with a focus on broadswords
Ambivert; Is the spitting image of his father in his pre-banishment days. Later in the story (not written yet), his older sister Izumi will see a portrait of young Zuko pre-scarring and mistake them for each other at first
Has his mother’s personality - kind and nurturing but will cut you if you mistreat someone
Kya – younger twin
Blue eyes, brown hair
Named for Katara and Sokka’s mother
Outgoing; enjoys fashion and finding bargains during shopping trips with Great-Uncle Iroh
Inherits Uncle Sokka’s (terrible) sense of humor
Enjoys studying art from all over the world
Decent at healing but prefers sparring
Eventually settles down in SWT with her wife and their pet polar bear dog
In later years helps teach waterbending to Avatar Korra
Shunsui – born 11 years after Sozin’s Comet
Gold eyes, brown hair
Name Meaning: spring, water
Becomes a respected healer and opens up several healing clinics
Enjoys the simpler things in life like his Great-Uncle Iroh and develops an affinity for botany as a hobby
Laidback personality; enjoys traveling especially in the Earth Kingdom
Is the only steambaby besides Izumi not to be either a twin or triplet
Like his older sister Kya, helps teach waterbending to Avatar Korra
Lu Ten – eldest triplet, born approximately 16 ½ years after Sozin’s Comet
Blue eyes, black hair
Named for Iroh’s son, Zuko and Azula’s late cousin
Extrovert who takes up pro-bending when he's older
Bi pretty boy who naturally charms the ladies and the men, but has a hidden sweet, shy side
Loves traveling the world along with honorary Uncle Aang, Aunt Toph, and all their brood
Secretly gifted at the tsungi horn but will never admit it
Ayuko – middle triplet and youngest daughter
Blue eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: love, affection, rainbow
I came up with her name because of the rainbow sunshower scene in the story right before ZK announce that they're expecting her and her brothers
Is a naturally gifted bender like her Aunt Azula and the only firebender of her siblings capable of creating blue flames
Introvert who enjoys writing and reading; often seen curled up with a book in the library
A theatre nerd just like her father; is also a talented dancer but too shy to show off her skills most of the time
Mihiro – youngest triplet and youngest son
Gold eyes, black hair
Name Meaning: crown, benevolence, sea
Skilled with broadswords
Trained in swordfighting by his eldest sister Izumi and looks up to her; also learns from Zuko, Sokka, and Master Piandao
Inspired to learn broadswords after watching his eldest sister Izumi fighting with them one day when he’s 3-4
Finds out about Blue Spirit myths during a visit to the Earth Kingdom when he's a child and not-so-secretly admires all the legends and tall tales of the infamous vigilante, much to his parents’ amusement
Enjoys cooking
And there you have it! What can I say, I have a soft spot for Zutara and all their bbs 💜

The Gaang as college students, because I am too pretentious not to throw in my two cents on this:
Sokka - Plans out his daily schedule for the entire semester after the first day of class. Still turns in assignments at 11:59 p.m. sometimes. Crams all his studying into the last 37 minutes before an exam. Says whacky (but lowkey brilliant) stuff during class. Shares inside jokes with professors. Gets straight As because he’s a certified genius.
Katara - Shows up to class fifteen minutes early. Writes down every word that comes out of the professor’s mouth. Spends every possible second in office hours until she gets kicked out. Turns in assignments at least a week before they’re due. Hosts bi-weekly study groups. Gets straight As through sheer force of will.
Aang - Shows up late to class pretty much every day. Class clown but doesn’t realize it. Always forgets to format his papers in double-spaced, 12-point, Times New Calderan font. Half his professors hate him, the other half love him. Knows the name of literally everyone on campus. Always brings snacks to Katara’s study group.
Suki - Big jock energy. Wears a backwards baseball cap and her BSSU Volleyball sweatpants to every class. Gets good grades, but inexplicably starts getting Cs for a semester. Athletics department assigns Water Tribe Husband Material as her tutor. Starts dating Water Tribe Husband Material. Grades return to normal. Mission accomplished.
Toph - Doesn’t attend class. Doesn’t do assignments. Doesn’t show up to exams. Doesn’t participate in group projects. Doesn’t answer professors’ emails. Still gets Cs because there are way too many buildings on campus named “Beifong Family Hall.” Joins Katara’s study group for the snacks and camaraderie.
Zuko - Stuck in an endless cycle of: a) trying really hard at school, b) not doing as well as he wanted to, c) giving up and doing even worse, d) convincing himself he just needs to try harder. Constantly compares himself to his sister. Eventually gets his grades up to Bs, thanks to both Katara’s study group and his mom emailing professors on his behalf.
Azula - Stares professors dead-in-the-eye all through class to establish dominance. Gets perfect grades in the courses she deems important (physics, chemistry, math, history). Skips classes she deems frivolous (art, literature, philosophy). Professors give her A’s anyway. Has been known to sabotage rival group projects.
Mai - Sits in the back of class and never speaks a word. Tries her best to make sure no one knows her name. Gets up and walks out of class when called on by the professor. Only participates in group projects when forced (except when Ty Lee is there). No one knows what her grades are like because she never bothers to check them.
Ty Lee - Doodles flowers and unicorns and rainbows in her notebook during class. Raises her hand all the time anyway. Is actually really smart but pretends to be ditzy so fratboy simps will do her homework. Changes majors at least twice a semester but always schedules electives with Mai. Occasionally gives group project presentations while in a handstand.
BONUS NOT-SO-SFW BELOW THE CUT!
Hakoda - Not a college student. Attends Ba Sing Se University’s Parents’ Weekend. Is reminded of the squalor in which the average college male lives. Meets Suki. Decides that she is the coolest human being to ever live. Sneaks away from party with wife. Revisits secret corner of library where their first child was conceived. History repeats itself.
Kya - Not a college student. Attends Ba Sing Se University’s Parents’ Weekend. Is reminded of the squalor in which the average college male lives. Tries to convince Katara not to study on weekend nights. Somehow finds herself in a very familiar corner of the library. Accidentally ensures that she will be attending at least one more Parents’ Weekend.
#I would never write anything more than a one shot for a college au but this was fun#kinda want to write that Hakoda/Kya fic tho 😏#or one for jock!Suki and tutor!Sokka#college au#sokka#katara#aang#suki#toph#toph beifong#zuko#azula#ty lee#mai#kya#hakoda#kya lives#sukka#kyakoda#hakya#avatar#atla#avatar the last airbender

How to Handle a Maki - Side Story: Legend of the Demon King Slayer

---------
Author’s Note: Bonus 2nd entry for Oct 30th
Summary: Tsubasa, Anju and Erena encounter the next Demon King Slayer
---------
“That’s her?” Erena inquired, peering out from behind a tree.
“She’s cute.” Anju observed, earning a glare from her wife beside her. “Of course she’s not my type.” She stuck her tongue out at Erena. “But she might by someone else’s…” She glanced at the other woman with them.
Tsubasa watched the young woman guide her horse and cart along the road below them. Orange hair, tied off in a ponytail on one side. The Ho glyph was emblazoned in orange on her armor as well as a few places on her cart and tack. And she was singing, loudly to herself, in a crystalline voice that caused something to stir unexpectedly within Tsubasa.
But, most importantly, strapped to the woman’s back was a sword. Tsubasa could feel its aura from here. The Rex Interfectorem.
“There’s no doubt about it.” Tsubasa stated solemnly, ignoring Anju’s giggle as she intentionally interpreted the words wrong. “She fits the description perfectly. That girl is the legendary Demon King Slayer. She is destined to kill the Demon King.”
“Or at least continue the hunt.” Anju clarified.
“Or die by our hands.” Erena cracked her knuckles and flexed her claws. “Looks like she hasn’t found an apprentice yet. Killing her now would end the cycle.”
“You mean delay it.” Tsubasa corrected. “The Rex Interfectorem will always manage to find itself in the hands of some new Slayer. Its legacy will always continue, no matter what we do.”
“Kya!” A cry came from below.
One of the wheels hit a stone in the road, causing the entire cart to careen chaotically.
“Woah, woah, woah!” The young knight cried, trying to regain control
Her efforts were in vain, however, as the cart ended up tipping onto its side.
“Ow ow ow owiee…” The girl whined as she pushed herself up to a sitting position. “Oh, Rexy!” She grabbed at her back. “Where did you go?” She scrambled about, searching for the sword that had jostled loose.
Erena sighed. “On second thought, are we sure she’s the one?”
Anju giggled. “Perhaps we can let this one live. She doesn’t appear to be any threat, right Tsubasa-chan? Eh? Tsubasa-chan?”
“Master, what are you…”
Tsubasa strode out from the tree line and made her way down the hill. She held a hand out to signal her servants to stay hidden.
“Are you in need of aid, young lady?” She asked, approaching the supposed Demon King Slayer.
The girl looked up. “Yes, please. It seems my sword fell off, and…”
Tsubasa stooped and hefted the cart back upright. “Is that what you are looking for?” She jutted her chin toward the sword laying where the cart had previously covered it.
“Wow…” The other woman marveled. “You’re really strong, Ms…”
“Tsubasa. Kira Tsubasa.”
The woman smiled brilliantly. “Kousaka Honoka.” Well, that explained the glyph. “Nice to meet you, Tsubasa-chan. And thank you for helping me find Rexy.” She picked up her sword and slipped it back in place. “How can I repay you? Oh, I know, how about I buy you something tasty in the next town. They have the best bread ever.”
“Sounds good.”
“Right, then hop on!” Honoka motioned to the back of her cart.
“Hrm…” Tsubasa considered for a moment before hopping up and taking a seat on the bench beside Honoka.
“Oh… I guess that works too.” Honoka smiled again. “Now let’s get going.” She flipped the reigns to signal her horse to continue their journey.
Well, this will be interesting. Tsubasa thought to herself.

Author’s Note Continued: This idea has been sitting in the WIP & Note Warehouse gathering digital dust for quite a while. Iirc, the idea came from a conversation I had with @noelclover a few years back. At least I’m pretty sure that was the source, as HtHaM in general was inspired by a lovely pic of theirs.
And I really need to get back to that AU...

Kya
SUMMARY: Zuko and Katara's name plans for each of their children don't exactly go to plan.
CHARACTERS: Zuko, Katara, Izumi, Ursa II (OC), Bato II (OC), Kya II, Aang, Azula, Bumi II (mentioned), Aiko (OC) (mentioned), Tenzin (mentioned).
PAIRINGS: Zuko/Katara, Aang/Azula
Summer 108
"Hello, little Kya," Zuko cooed, gently stroking his newborn daughter's face while Katara held her.
Katara gazed at the tiny face of the little girl in her arms and knew that this girl was not her mother's namesake. It was not anything against the infant herself. Katara loved the tiny bundle in her arms more than anything or anyone she had ever loved in her entire life. And she had always planned on naming her first-born daughter after her late mother. But that couldn't change the fact that the baby in her arms was not 'Kya'. And Katara refused to name her child a name that didn't suit her just to have the satisfaction of having a baby named after her mother.
"Her name's not Kya," Katara stated with a sad smile, causing her husband to look at her in shock.
"What do you mean?" Zuko asked, looking between his wife and his child. "I thought we decided on Kya for a girl."
"Yes, but this girl isn't Kya," Katara remarked. "Maybe the next one will be but this one isn't."
Zuko sat quietly for a moment, staring intently at the newborn baby.
"I...I think you're right," he admitted apologetically. "She looks very Fire Nation."
Katara laughed. "She looks like you, Zuko," she corrected. "Exactly like you."
Zuko smiled to himself. "Well, what is her name then?"
Katara thought for a moment. "Why don't you list off some Fire Nation names and I'll pick?" Katara suggested. "This is the name of the future Fire Lord after all."
"Okay," Zuko said, sitting down. "There's Mayu, Akane, Aiko, Izumi, Ha--"
"Izumi," Katara said immediately. "Her name is Izumi."
"Izumi..." Zuko repeated with a nod. "I like that."
"What does it mean?" Katara asked, feeling genuinely curious.
"Fountain," Zuko informed her.
Katara smiled in spite of herself. "A Fire Nation name with a water meaning," she said with a nod. "Sounds like a good fit."
"I agree," Zuko chuckled, sitting down next to his wife and child.
--------------------------------
Fall 111
"Let's go see Mama and Kya," Katara overheard her husband say to their 3-year-old daughter.
As Zuko opened the door, Katara mentally prepared herself for what could potentially be a difficult conversation.
"Mama!" Izumi squealed excitedly, running over to Katara's bedside.
"Hi, baby," Katara greeted her toddler with a smile.
"Can I see baby Kya?" Izumi asked with bright eyes.
"Her name's Ursa, sweetie, not Kya," Katara informed her daughter, wanting to get the conversation over with as soon as possible.
"Ursa?" Izumi said with confusion. "But Daddy said her name was Kya."
"Yes, her name was Kya, and then Mama changed her mind," Katara said with a quick glance at Zuko who looked shocked.
"Oh," Izumi said, nodding in understanding. "I changeded my mind this morning when I thinked I wanted watermelons but then I wanted strawberries instead."
"Wow, so we both changed our minds today," Katara said overenthusiastically.
"Just one change was a bit bigger than the other," Zuko said pointedly, raising an eyebrow.
Katara took a deep breath, preparing for the worst.
"'Zumi, can you go with Nurse Kimi for a sec, please?" Katara asked her daughter with a gentle but stern smile. "Mama and Daddy need to talk."
"Okay," Izumi said with a slight look of confusion. "Bye-bye Mama and Daddy and baby Ky--Ursa."
With that, Izumi happily toddled away with her mother's midwife.
"So not Kya?" Zuko asked, looking more sad and confused than angry. "I understand with Izumi. She looks like me, she's a firebender...But this baby looks just like you. And you even said she'll probably be a waterbender. Why not go with Kya?"
"I don't know," Katara responded honestly, feeling a bit frustrated with herself. "It's just...I look at her, and I hold her, and she just..."
"She doesn't feel like a Kya," Zuko answered with a small, sad smile.
"Exactly," Katara sighed. "She does feel like an Ursa, though."
Zuko raised an eyebrow. "Not just because it's my mother's birthday?" Zuko's mother, Ursa, had died several years ago, not long after Zuko's father, Ozai, banished her. No one in her family, including Ozai, had known of her death until Zuko investigated her whereabouts a year after the end of the 100 Years War.
"At first, I thought so," Katara admitted. "But the more I look at her, the more I know her name is Ursa."
"I hate to admit it, but I agree," Zuko chuckled, reaching out to hold his second child.
"Hi, little Ursa," he cooed at the tiny child. "You look just like your mommy."
"It's payback for how much Izumi looks like you," Katara said with a smirk. "I swear she looks more and more like you each day."
"Hey, she has your eye color," Zuko pointed out with a laugh. "And your curls."
"Should we call her back in?" he asked after a few quiet moments.
"Yes," Katara said immediately. She hadn't seen her oldest child for more than a minute that entire day, having gone into labor very early that morning and had given birth in the early evening. "I've been away from my baby dragon for too long."
Zuko laughed. "You saw her five minutes ago."
"That doesn't count," Katara protested. "I didn't even get the chance to give her hugs and kisses."
"I'll go get her," Zuko chuckled, walking to the door with Ursa in his arms.
"Thanks, love!" Katara called out as Zuko shut the door.
Seconds later, Zuko walked through the door with both of his kids.
"Come here, my little dragon," Katara said, reaching out for her oldest child.
Izumi giggled as she ran over to her mother, who strained slightly to lift her onto the bed.
"How was your day, sweetheart?" Katara asked, cuddling her daughter close while Zuko sat down on the edge of the bed. She knew that Ursa's arrival would be a huge change for Izumi but refused to let her child feel overshadowed by the new baby.
"It was really good, Mama," Izumi said excitedly while her parents smiled and listened. "Uncle Sokka and Aunt Suki tooked me for ice cream and then we played in the park and then..."
-----------------------------
Winter 115
"Well, I guess this one can't be Kya, either," Zuko chuckled, holding his son close.
Katara laughed. "Aww, man, I thought Kya would be a great name for our little boy," she said jokingly.
Zuko chuckled and shook his head. "So, what names do you have in mind?"
Katara shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant. She knew what name she wanted for her son but felt bad about having named both of their older children. And Zuko’s relationship with the namesake wasn’t the best. “I don’t really have any names picked out. What about you?”
Zuko raised his eyebrow skeptically, not buying Katara’s statement. “Okay…” he said suspiciously before looking down at the tiny bundle in his arms. “I was thinking ‘Bato’.”
Katara stared at her husband in shock. She had wanted to name her son after her father’s best friend, Bato, who had died in a boating accident a few months ago, but given that Bato and Zuko weren’t particularly close, she expected Zuko to reject the name entirely.
“Bato…” Katara repeated, staring wide-eyed at her husband. “You want to name him Bato?”
“Yes,” Zuko said with a smile. “He seems like a Bato.”
“You and Bato couldn’t stand each other…” Katara pointed out. Although part of her was thrilled that Zuko picked the name she wanted, she didn’t want him to regret his choice.
“We definitely had our differences,” Zuko chuckled. “But he was very important to you. Besides, it’s like you said, names are about a lot more than just the namesake. And ‘Bato’ means ‘strong’ and ‘powerful’. And you said that you could already tell he’d be a strong waterbender.”
This statement was very true, as, more than with Ursa, Katara could feel the pull of her son’s waterbending while he was in the womb.
“Unless, of course, you don’t want to name him Bato,” Zuko stated, bringing Katara out of her thoughts. “Then we can pick a differe--”
“I love it,” Katara admitted. “I want to name him Bato.”
Zuko smiled. “Well, then, Bato it is.”
----------------------------------------
Spring 118
“I hate to say it,” Zuko said hesitantly, looking at his fourth child. “But I don’t think her name’s Suki.”
Zuko and Katara had agreed on naming their child Iroh if it was a boy, after Zuko’s late uncle, and Suki if it was a girl, after Zuko and Katara’s close friend, and Katara’s sister-in-law, who had been killed a few months prior.
Katara raised an eyebrow, reaching out for her youngest daughter. Initially, she thought the name Suki was perfect for the tiny child, but now holding her once again, she could see what Zuko meant.
“She’s definitely not a Suki,” Katara agreed.
“You know what she is though?” Zuko asked, his eyes shining mischievously.
“A Kya?” Katara suggested.
“A Kya,” Zuko confirmed with a nod.
Katara chuckled. “Looks like we finally got our Kya.”
“Want me to get our other babies?” Zuko offered after a few quiet moments.
“Yes, please,” Katara said.
Placing a quick kiss on Katara’s head, Zuko hurried out to pick his kids up from the other side of the palace where they were being watched by Aang and a very pregnant Azula.
After a few minutes, the door opened again.
“Mama!” 10-year-old Izumi, 7-year-old Ursa, and 3-year-old Bato shouted excitedly running over to their mother.
“Hi, my little angels,” Katara said, leaning over to give each of them a hug and kiss.
“Hi, little baby,” Bato said, looking in awe at the tiny bundle that was his little sister.
“What’s her name?” Izumi asked eagerly.
“Her name’s Kya,” Katara informed her with a smile.
“Wow,” Aang said, walking into the room, with his son and daughter in tow. “I thought you guys gave up on that name.”
Katara chuckled. “We thought so, too, but here she is.” She handed the infant over to her best friend.
“Oh, she’s definitely a Kya,” Aang said, holding the child close. “Aren’t you, little one?”
“I will never understand your impromptu name changes,” Azula remarked, waddling into the room, one of her hands placed on her nine-month pregnant belly. “With Izumi, Ursa, and Bato, you ran around saying Kya for a girl and Lu Ten for a boy. And with this one, you were saying Suki and Iroh.”
“I guess we’re just bad at pre-picking,” Katara chuckled.
“You know how Aang and I picked Aiko’s name?” Azula asked.
“Not everyone wants to make detailed pros and cons lists of every name, Azula,” Zuko said, rolling his eyes.
“And idea boards,” Katara added. “How many did you have for Aiko again? 16?”
“18, actually,” Azula informed her brother and sister-in-law. “And guess what name we decided on three months before our baby was born. Hint, it rhymes with ‘my toe’.”
“It only took us 13 idea boards to get to our two names this time,” Aang informed his friends with a smile.
“Which are?” Katara prompted.
“To be announced when this baby finally decides to show up,” Azula said with a smirk. Azula's due date had been a week before Katara’s and yet she was still pregnant while Katara had given birth.
“The doctors said that if the baby doesn’t show up in the next few days, they’ll have to coax it out,” Aang informed them.
“Maybe your baby and Kya’ll be twins,” Katara said with a smile. “It’s still early.”
Late that night, a few minutes before midnight, Tenzin was born.
