I don't know which fan this is, but like, if you want different or special treatment - I mean first of all, I don't know who "my teenie boy fans" are, for the most part - like I don't know who views or votes what, and I can't be sure which accounts are fans of me VS my content, except one fan I interacted with (we're not even acquaintances - don't ask me why, I just go along with the psychology of people, even if I don't understand) - and like, I just treat you ALL this way, because, like, I can't categorize which answers apply to WHOM - okay I do have a fan who is sometimes a teenage boy and sometimes just a teenage fan who is an acquaintance, but still - and like, yeah, so instead of treating you all like crap, or in fear, or screaming at you to fuck off - wait I already do that - well, INSTEAD OF THAT, I spend my hormones on bothering you with polls and weirdly infantalizing language because I don't have a fecking teenage pet - and also because it's funny, and some of y'all are cute - but yeah that kinda didn't scare you away ... oof ... if you want personalized treatment, you could do the obvious thing of just starting an acquaintanceship with me and begging me not to address you as a cute little teenie boy fan with excess hormones (I too wonder why I am the way I am), or I COULD make a poll about it, but feck - actually, wait, Imma make this into a poll.

Ok so I thought I'd put together some horror stories from my time as a babymetal fan bc of how drastic the shift in the fandom has been the past year or so. For context I got into babymetal in like june of 2014 (all 3 girls were still underage at the time, I was 22; when I first got into them I thought I would be considered an older fan lmao the naivete, the innocence of new fan me wow I know now I'm not at all in the older half of the fandom esp considering I was born the same decade as su and moa), and I made this blog in I think may of 2015.

I've had people say I should compile men being gross into a post and I just couldn't do that out of fear for my own mental health but this will be pretty close. These are all my experiences with this fandom over the years; I'm definitely missing some but what I do remember should do well to cover most of how this fandom used to be vs now. It's gonna be a lot and tw for men being gross about minors.

Back in my first year or so of this blog I on multiple occasions got dms from men asking to be friends. At the time my bio only said my name and my pronouns. I've always been cautious of dms so I'd ask their age and every single one was considerably older than me. I wouldn't usually answer after that bc no thanks but they would generally try to continue convos til I blocked. The only one I still had was this one

After I put my age in my bio, which was 23 at the time, I never got a dm like that again; take from that what you will. But if you're young please be wary of this hell fandom even now. And if you're an older fan and esp an older male fan reading this, don't dm people trying to be friends. I was over 18 and it still creeped me out to no end.

One of my real first men in this fandom are disgusting moments was a blog back in like 2015 or 2016 who I had some contact with due to common interests; he was a huge yui stan and made bm content. He was like 28 or 29 at the time and I eventually noticed he would tag idols, mostly kpop girls, by their body parts (legs, butt, etc) which is disgusting enough as it is but then I saw him do the same for literal minors, like tzuyu from twice. I messaged him asking what the hell he was doing objectifying women but also actual children and he blocked me lmao. He later unblocked me to let me know that's just how he tagged things and it was my fault he had anxiety and then he blocked me again.

Back before the tumblr purge this fandom was repulsive to a degree I cannot even begin to describe. Someone would reblog something from me, I'd go to their blog and it would be underage jpop idols and japanese p*rn all the way down. I even stumbled upon a man editing underage su into p*rn gifs. Obviously no proof of that but I did go find my initial reaction to it

The number of times I'd get a follow from someone then go to their blog and it would be as mentioned above or their bio would be the most misogynistic trash I'd ever read was staggering. I genuinely considered giving up and deleting this blog so many times bc i felt oberwhelmed and outnumbered by these gross old dudes; and so the fact that this fandom has evolved into a bunch of chaotic wlw?? Amazing, I could cry.

Fun phenomenon of women running bm blogs was men sending messages asking if we liked babymetal. No joke. I think this happened to me two or three times but I spoke w other female creators at the time and it had happened to them as well. My entire blog is babymetal, and yet???

He said the weird guy idk bc he sent some random ass messages vaguely insulting me and when I responded coldly, he acted confused so I said you're some guy idk, hence the above message starting as such. Also that pic and the one up above that has my current pfp bc I just took those screenshots. Like I said I typically blocked weird dms but I guess these passed me by so I still had the messages.

Most people know the sub reddit is the worst and don't need me to tell you but it's a hellscape and I highly recommend avoiding it. A short list of things I've had to see as a result of going there: men discussing at length kano and momoko's appearances and how they look in costume vs in normal clothes. Men discussing at length the hope that the girls would marry men who aren't Japanese, a thread that was from when all 3 girls were underage. They aren't gonna marry you dude they're really not.

The insulting of billie Eilish, a 17 year old at the time, was horrible too. Su and moa got to meet her, something they were extremely excited for, and they posted a pic; the comments were disgusting as you can imagine. The yui rumors were terrible too, fatshaming, slutshaming etc all based on nothing. Some man saying the rumors about yui leaving bc, no joke this was a real rumor, she "got too fat" couldn't be true bc "look at saya." Saya being a barely 18 yo back up dancer who covered the third spot after yui left but before the avengers. Not to mention the upskirt shots from when they were minors, the constant editing of their faces onto explicit photoshoots etc. I remember being a new fan looking for a su pic on google and being horrified at the fact that one of the top suggested results after her name was “bikini;” she was 16 at the time. Also, the uptick in massively creepy posts and messages sent to bm blogs as each girl, but esp moa and yui, approached 18 was disgusting.

Now for some personal nonsense. A big reason why I haven't touched my youtube channel in months is bc I got tired of dealing with the men of this fandom. I poke fun at metal and get told I deserve to die. I say ped*philes and creepy men are gross and get a swarm of middle aged men cursing at me. Had a guy cry about how men are shamed for liking bm and then he turned around and said some gross shit about wlw. Had a guy call me racist for liking a band he also likes (and despite him having no way of knowing my own race) and tell me the babymetal fandom doesn't need my kpop feminist bullshit, which is honestly a great description and I thought about putting it in my yt about lmao. Had a middle aged man unironically say he'd never seen a man be creepy towards bm but fans su and moa's ages calling them hot was creepy. The disillusionment....the level of unawareness is astounding. If you want to see screenshots of some of these comments they are fairly recent in my don't mind me tag; I don't want to see them anymore tho bc they're infuriating so I'm not going to look at them to post here.

Essentially I haven't looked at my channel since may bc men are exhausting and rude and refuse to examine the fandoms they're a part of no matter what. They're told by a woman of the fandom that she's had bad experiences personally and they all start crying about how it's either a lie bc they haven't seen it or unimportant. I did stop reading comments in may and I will never read another one again probably as a result of this shit. Trash men being trash are not worth my time and I refuse to give them anymore of it. I do plan on making more videos tho and let my ~feminist kpop bullshit~ live in their minds rent free.

I will also continue to make fun of metal and the creepy men in this fandom bc it's important and I'm a spiteful asshole who likes disrupting these dudes perfect bubble of a fandom. It genuinely brings me so much joy seeing all the new fans recently (which sidenote if you got into them recently I am kinda curious as to how you found them; I've gotten tons of new followers and considering how inactive they are rn I'm curious). People sending messages about how they finally feel like they belong or that they have a safe space....like I don't even know what to say and I never feel like my responses fully convey how genuinely wonderful that is and how thrilled I am that this is where we're at now and I have had at least some part in it. As this post shows, my experiences have been negative for the most part so the shift recently is such a relief I cannot even begin to explain my gratitude.

So to anyone who read all of this and hasn't disintegrated from the male bullshit, thank you. Keep being yourself and fighting for your place in this fandom, esp if you're a young woman; keep making fun of the creeps and keep making wlw memes!! Babymetal's music is in such a huge way meant for girls and to see more and more finding their way to this previously hellish beyond belief fandom is incredible.

For the fandom talk meme thingy: C (not trying to start drama I swear), I, K, R, and X. =D

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

Hmmm, there are a few ways of answering this. One is by listing all my NOTPs, which would be excessively long and ultimately boring because it essentially boils down to “anyone else with either member of my OTP.” I monoship my primary pairings, so I’m pretty strict on what I do and do not like. 

(With the way fandom is now, I should clarify that NOTP means that I personally do not like a ship and I therefore go out of my way to avoid it - by muting terms, carefully filtering tags and search results, curating my own space, etc. It doesn’t mean I think the ship is badwrong or that anyone else should stop shipping it. It just means I do not ever want to see it.)

This feels a little less specific on that front, though, maybe more just: people like this and I’m meh about it?

So Allydia comes to mind. I don’t hate it, and if the Sterek’s good enough I’ll still read a fic with them as a background pairing, but I don’t ever like it as a romantic ship. While I ship Lydia with lots of different characters, including Cora, I’ve always seen Allison as straight, so I suppose that’s part of it? And I love Lydia & Allison as bffs - I see them as entirely platonic, like Scott & Stiles, so introducing romance just doesn’t work for me.

Another one is Sheriff Stilinski/Peter Hale. I...I don’t understand it. Unlike the last answer, this background pairing will prevent me from reading a Sterek-central fic.

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

This turned into a complicated and kind of roundabout answer, so I’m putting the rest of the questions under a long-post cut!

I stopped frequenting tumblr for two main reasons:

that whole weird purge thing that made me think everyone was leaving, so I just gave up, which might’ve been premature cause it seems like folks are still going strong on here

the emergence of antis, specifically within the Voltron fandom (although they’re everywhere at this point)

There’s a saying in fandom now: 

“Why is the younger fandom generation like this?!??” “Tumblr raised them.”

For me, for years, tumblr was a really wonderful space where I had a lot of great conversations and read very thoughtful threads that helped me to learn some important things about myself, other people, and a world much wider than my own.

But I was an adult when I joined this site, and it really does seem like there’s a whole new crop of kids who have no actual context for ideas like social justice, the need for canonical representation in our media, and a lot of other things that eventually got folded into a big ball of disconnected rhetoric that they now fling as hard as they can at the heads of fandom creators who are committing the ultimate sin of creating content for ships they don’t like.

It’s late, and I don’t feel like getting into a whole Essay Rant about all that.

So on an entirely personal level, I quit running appreciatejack (my Check Please/zimbits/Jack Zimmermann blog) because someone sent me really vile hate for daring to ship Shiro/Keith from Voltron (two unrelated adults in a cartoon). It’s why I turned my ask boxes/anon/chats off on most of my blogs, and then eventually just...got tired of running them.

When I started up appreciatederek, I got a couple asks from people who wanted to know if it was going to be multiship or just Sterek, and when I said it was Sterek, they presumably went off to find other things they were into, because I never heard from them again. Y’know, the reasonable reaction. And then the rest of it was wonderful: finding content for it, and getting responses from people who enjoyed that content.

I thought appreciateshiro would be similar, but it was all so messy from the very start. The Sheith tag was FULL of hate. I was initially checking it every day, trying to find artists and writers and gif-makers to reblog and encourage and support, like I’d done in Sterek fandom, but instead I’d spend literal hours blocking people who came into that tag just to talk about how much they hated the ship.

Every day, I’d look for content for my OTP, and every day I’d come away from it angry and sad and frustrated. I never seemed to run out of people to block. And they never, ever seemed to run out of hate.

It was exhausting. It made me reluctant to go on tumblr at all. And eventually I just...sorta stopped.

So the answer to this question is more, I guess, “fandom made me stop liking tumblr, and in the process I stopped liking most fandoms.”

I’m sure you can kinda tell from the fandoms I’m currently the most invested in.

I love Sterek, and I will always love Sterek. Part of that’s the ship itself, of course, and part is because I had an incredible fandom experience with it. People within this fandom are still really great - always so welcoming and super excited about new content, even so many years on.

Otherwise, my current fandoms are kiiiiinda tiny:

Xanatowen (Gargoyles), which currently consists of exactly 2 people and 12 fics (3 of which are mine).

Trevorcard (Castlevania), which only has ~200 fics on AO3.

Taibani (Tiger & Bunny), which is an oldish fandom with only ~600 fics on AO3.

Remember, I came from a fandom that has SIXTY THOUSAND fics.

So while I feel very lonely and very sad about the low content levels in these fandoms, they’ve also given me the space to let go of some of my fandom hurt & anger and remember what it’s like to just...peacefully love something. I really miss just loving things and talking about loving those things and searching for other people who also love those things without running into....thousands upon thousands of people who HATE that you love that thing.

(Until I wrote all that out just now, I actually hadn’t realized how much this had still been hanging over me, or why I was so hesitant to come back to “reclaim” a space I’d once been super active and happy in. Essay over! Next questions.)

X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.

Found family. This is probably a big part of why Sterek was my first real fandom, because the idea of Pack makes it incredibly natural to build out relationships beyond just the central romantic pairing. 

It doesn’t have to be a werewolf thing, though. I’m honestly not hugely fond of the whole puppy piles concept - I’m less interested in “biological urges make characters literally physically all snuggle up together in bed” than I am in the actual build of the friendships, and the concept of choosing people who will become the family you’ve been missing for whatever reason.

Maybe it’s reconnecting with biological family, or maybe it’s discovering that your friends have been filling that space for you all along, without you even fully realizing it. (The concept of “home” is another big one for me. Home is where your heart is etc etc.)

And hey! Now I can pull back in another question from earlier: about “pairings” that I might not have initially considered. As I suspected, I do have more! Mostly platonic.

For instance: Derek and Sheriff Stilinski becoming bffs. I thiiiink I can probably tie my ABSOLUTE LOVE of this concept back to HalfFizzbin’s can't be hateful, gotta be grateful. And then Cupboard Love really has to be the source of ALL my alive!Hales feels, which also includes folding Stiles into their family.

Fic is largely responsible for building out Derek’s relationship with Boyd, Erica, Isaac, his sisters...making them into an actual pack and friends and family in the way the show never bothered. And frankly while I don’t like canon!Scott at all at this point, I love his friendship with Stiles in fics, and I absolutely believe Stiles and Lydia would be amazing friends once he got past his crush on her. I’d point to another fic here, owlpostagain’s will to follow through, as the ultimate source for major Team Human feels.

So yeah. I’m always going to be drawn to stories about family, in whatever form that takes, particularly if it’s one that’s a little bit off the normal white-picket-fence path.

In Tiger & Bunny, it’s Barnaby joining the Kaburagi family, and learning how to be a dad and a friend to his new husband’s daughter.

In Gargoyles, I’m completely obsessed with the (canonical!) idea of a family that consists of a man, his wife, their son, and the chaotically loyal fae babysitter/tutor/third parent. It is not a stretch to tweak this the tiiiiiiniest bit to turn it into a nontraditional family structure of a man, his wife, his son, and his fae boyfriend. Honestly.

In Castlevania, the fic that made me sob my eyes out at one point does something the show would absolutely never. It gives Alucard the time to rebuild his physical home while befriending the people in the little town that crops up around it. It’s about Trevor and Alucard falling in love, but it’s also about them making a place for themselves in a world where that kind of comfort and stability and friendship is so badly needed.

I think we all kinda need that in our world right now. So I love being able to find it in fic, for the characters who’ve grown to mean something to me.

As someone who makes edits/gifs how do you feel about people choosing to repost others work? Does it bother you? And if it happened to you how would you handle it/respond? Just honestly interested in your thoughts/opinion. :)

so, it’s kinda complicated but not really??

i’ve been making edits/gifs for years, and i’ve had my fair share of shit reposted. there’s two in mind that have well over 1k notes, which pisses me tf off. they aren’t actively being reblogged, but they pop up on occasion.

so with that said, i don’t condone people posting other people’s work if it’s an attempt to make a gift set or trying to make an edit out of other people’s content.

i don’t mind using edits/gifs for reference, for memes, for reactions, etc. i let those slide, and i really don’t mind it.

masterposts don’t bother me too much but sometimes they do. i took a video, and made a gif set of harry and louis from one direction eating nachos from a concert i attended. someone else made a masterpost/text post, and it has thousands of reblogs with no credit. that annoys the hell out of me for sure.

i don’t mind when people use tumblr’s feature thing where it automatically gives credit, but i’ve realized that if you use it, it only selects the first gif from a set. so if someone wants to use any other gif/edit except the first one, they’d have to save the gif/edit and upload and all that.

in terms of how i handle it, i’ve sent in a request with the reposter link and my link, and i’ve usually had pretty good luck with tumblr listening and removing the content. i haven’t done it in awhile, so idk if they’d still be on top of it.

i’ve also reblogged a reposter and blatantly commented on it telling people not to reblog it. i’ve messaged people to delete the repost with a link to my content.

sometimes i’ve just let it go because i’m tired and there’s no point and whatever. it’s a bunch of pixels.

easiest way to make sure people know it’s your stuff is by watermarking the gif, which is what all of us used to do back in the day. but i find that it looks like garbage. even if the font is small enough in the corner, it just... takes away from what the image/gif set.

so really, how i respond depends on my mood, what i think is worth the fight, if something pisses me off enough, and learning to just let some things go because it’s not good for me mentally.

but at the end of the day, i’m not afraid to report the post (which is normally what i do instead of confronting someone), but i’m also not hesitant to go, uh, hey everyone... this is my shit. delete it and reblog mine. i mainly address the people actively reblogging it because the reposter sure as shit will not listen.

Random Undertale Headcanon:

Frisk has naturally red eyes, and was bullied and feared for it on the surface. So, they rarely open their eyes fully.

When they met Toriel, they thought she would judge them for it. But abnormal eye coloring was normal in the underground! So they learned to keep them open.

So I was originally gonna make their pupils yin and yang, with their whole sun and moon aesthetic and powers, but that didn’t make it into the sketch. I’m incredibly proud of Mesmers posing and anatomy, but twilights was giving me some real trouble, mostly the legs. I was also going to try and include their symbols on their capes so I tried to do a ✨swooshy✨ thing with them. I was gonna have their respective circlets and necklaces around their reaching out wrists. Skeleton feet are also REALLY WEIRD…like…w-what even…how do you…???Since I draw slow, it took an INCREDIBLY long time for it even to be this unfinished sketch, and I might finish in the future. “Y/N, what the hell? Where were you?” Your brother Dean yelled worried out of his mind.

“Dean, wait she’s hurt.” Sam said, always noticing the little stuff. Quickly you were hurried onto a chair by your moose of a brother, while Dean simply stood with his arms crossed glaring at you. You knew you should feel bad, but you really didn’t. You didn’t feel bad because: 1. You’re a responsible teenager that can take care of herself, your brothers should know that. They were the ones who taught you how to defend yourself. 2. You had just had a great night with Peter aka crush aka Pretty boy.

“Y/N M/N Winchester. How did this happen?” Dean spoke with a controlled yet stern tone in his voice.

“It was a werewolf.”

“A werewolf?”

“Yup.”

“Can you be more specific? What happened? Did you kill it? Were there any others with it?”

“Yeah I’m fine Dean, thanks for asking.” You said sarcastically. You were sitting there, with your arm bleeding out and he doesn’t even have the decency to ask if you’re okay? Great brother.

He sighed out, sitting down in the chair beside you, “I’m sorry”.

“It’s fine.” As much of a dick he can be sometimes, you would always forgive him. He was your brother after all, and you knew that whatever shitty thing he did, it was probably unintentional.

“Look Y/N/N, we need to know what happened so we can stop this from happening again. So please tell us.” Sam spoke in a much sweeter and calmer voice, like he normally did.

When you were finally done telling the story of what had happened- being careful to avoid the spiderman parts as to not reveal Peter’s identity- your brothers sat silent for a while thinking on what you had just said. We had originally come here because of a ghost case, not werewolf. It is rare to find two cases in the same spot. That is what you had imagined they were thinking of at least. You were wrong.

“So this Peter boy. You like him?” Asked your shorter older brother. He quirked his eyebrow and stared at you waiting for you to answer. Your other sibling repeated this action and leaned in more toward you. It was as if the werewolf and coming home late ordeal wasn’t even important anymore, they just cared about who you liked. Typical.

You laughed nervously and shook you head and let you hair fall in front of your face so they wouldn’t notice how embarrassed you were.

They continued staring.

“N-No, of course not. Why would you even think that? That’s just insane” You lied, seeing that they wouldn’t stop staring until you give an actual answer.

“I mean you did mention this guys at least 40 times when you said what had happened. Doesn’t seem so insane to me.” Sam as always came in with logic. Damn him. You knew you couldn't continue the lie now, I mean they basically knew the truth already.

“I-I,” You hesitated for a second, they were going to tease you so much, “Yeah. I like him.” You looked down at your fiddling hands, you really didn’t want to see their reactions. “But I mean, it’s not like he likes me back. He wouldn’t. We’re just friends….” You trailed off, your realization made you sad. You knew you couldn’t let it affect you though, this was just shit that happens to everyone. But, you still couldn’t stop the fact that this was the first guy that really made you feel good about yourself. And it’s only been about a week!

“Hey, it’s okay. You don’t know that for sure” Said Dean upon seeing how the topic was getting to you.

“Exactly, why don’t you bring him over for lunch tomorrow and we’ll see. You know Dean and I have brother vision, we can notice everything.”

“WHAT!?” You and Dean exclaimed. What was he thinking?

“Okay, now that is insane. Why would we do that?”

“Oh come on, I want to meet my baby sister’s crush. Don’t you dean?”

He thought  hard for a moment, he didn’t notice you crossing your fingers under the table for him to say no.

“I guess you’re right. I do wanna meet who my sister fancies.”

“fuck.” you whispered, hoping your brothers didn’t hear.

“Hey, watch your mouth missy.” Of course they heard. Brother vision also comes with ultrasonic hearing.

“So, tell him to come over tomorrow. Yeah?” Asked sam, he gave you his famous puppy dog look.

“Ugh, fine. You guys are weird.” You stood up and walked towards your bed and flopped down on it.

“What did you just say?” Dean said, you could hear the smirk in his voice. What was he going to do?

“Um, fine?”

“No no, the other thing?” He slowly walked closer to you.

“… y-you guys are weird?”

“Yup!” He jumped on your bed and began tickling you. A loud laugh erupted from your throat, “shhh, there are people sleeping next door little sister. Be considerate” He continued moving his fingers along you abdomen. Your laugh now became more controlled, but tears began rolling down your cheeks. “Now, say your sorry squirt!”

“Nope! You guys are really weird!” You tried to say in between giggles.

“Really?” Asked sam, who had been watching the scene from afar. He bolted up to you and joined Dean, tickling you as well. “Wrong answer”

“F-fine, fine! I’m sorry”

“I guess we are kinda weird.” Said Dean, and you all erupted in laughter.

Y/N: hey, I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my place for lunch tomorrow? Maybe we can finish the project?

Peter: Sure! At what time should I be there?

Y/N: Around 11? Does that work for you?

Peter: Yeah! See you then… monster hunter

Y/N: Guess you will, spider boy.

Peter: it’s SPIDER-MAN!

You dropped your phone on to the nightstand next to you, and smiled. Even if he didn’t like you, it was still a friendship you wanted to keep. He was a nice guy that respected you, which honestly these days is pretty hard to find. It just seemed like he always gets you, understands what you mean even when you yourself don’t.

Peter came by at 11:00 on the dot. Your brothers had gone to do some interviews around the neighbourhood about the new case you had found- werewolves. When you heard the knock on the door you nearly screamed with nervousness. You kept your cool though, and went to open the door.

You exhaled to try and calm yourself before opening the door. The door revealed Peter, wearing a blue sweatshirt and a plaid shirt underneath, along with his old worn out sneakers he always wore. He looked at you as if inspecting you as you just did with him; you were wearing some skinny jeans with a wool white sweater and combat boots. You both realized you had been staring at each other for at least 10 seconds to long.

“H-hi” Peter spoke with his adorable voice he only used when he was nervous.

“Hey, um come in.” You said and opened the door wider for him to come in. You had fixed the room as best as you could, but it was still an old motel room. “Welcome to my home, it isn’t a lot but it’s home.”

“So, this is where cool monster hunters live. Awesome!” It was strange to you that he was genuinely excited about this. To you this was the same old, going across the country just staying in motel rooms going to different schools and well, hunting monsters.

“Um, well my brothers are coming in a while. If you want we can finish the project?”

“B-brothers?” You laughed as you saw his face become pale.

“Yeah… you scared spider-boy? They don’t bite,” You thought for a minute, “Well they might, but I won’t let them bite you.” 

“First off, it’s Spider-Man”

“Right”

“Second, I’m not scared. I’m just you know…”

“Terrified?” You laughed out.

“No, I’m not- I mean. Yeah kinda.”

“Why, I mean”, you turned your back, you were about to say something risky and you really didn’t want to see his face, “it’s not like you like me or something…”

“What if I do?” your heart stopped. Be cool Y/N, be COOL.

“Well, you’re in for a surprise.” You turned around to look at this boy. The boy you liked so so much. You almost jumped when you saw how close he had gotten since you had turned your back on him.

“oh? What would that surprise be?” He stepped closer to you, by now you were at least a foot a part. What was up with this sudden boost of confidence? You could feel his warmth on you, or maybe it was the heat on your cheeks expanding. You couldn’t now.

“That I like you too.” He smiled brightly, as did you when you saw his grin.

“I like the idea of that.” Peter aka your crush aka Pretty Boy leaned into you leaving enough space for you to fill in, which made your heart melt at how much of a gentleman he was even in moments like this. Just when you were going to press your lips onto his you were cut off by the sound of the door opening.

“Hey guys! How you doin’?”

ok so this is a guide on how to twitter rp i know there’s one or two out there but there still seems to be a lot of people asking how it works so i’mma make a hella detailed one with screen shots and everything !!! i hope this is good enough for yall and helps you in your future twitter rp endeavours !!! it’d be rad if you could give this a lil like or reblog too !!!

ok so to begin: you’ve found a lit twitter rp, you’ve sent in your app & you’ve been accepted. now what do you do ??? well, just like a regular tumblr rp, you make your account. but obviously, it’s a twitter acc. obviously if you’re reading this, you’ve never been in a twitter rp before but if you don’t even have a personal twitter, then you’ll need to sign up. if you click here, you’ll see the sign up page.

(fill in all your details and follow the instructions as you go along, i’m gonna skip this part because i already have many twitter accs and i doubt you’ll need help here because it’s pretty much like every other registration for social media)

moving on, so you have your account. click the little icon in top right corner,  [click here to see an example] (if it’s a new account it’d be an egg not an icon), then click “settings”, right at the top of that page in front of your eyes, it should say “username” and then a space for you to enter your username. now, twitter asks you to think up a username when you sign up so if you thought of a @ name for your character then that you’re happy with then you can skip this part. if you wanna change it or you added some random @ as a placeholder while you got your account set up then continue reading... 

USERNAMES:

this is kinda fun because you get to think of some wacky names of if you can’t think of anything you can go with the usual old tumblr style “jfcname.” but twitter rp is kinda memey and wildt so people go with things like “DAB4KiARA”, “KiARATHEFOOL”, “KiARA4PREZ”, “WET4KiARA”, “LETKiARALiVE”, “KiARATHESCAMMER” and so on and so forth. the username is usually in capital letters, except for the “i”, i still don’t understand why people do that lmao but i just roll with it. so anyway, you have your username -- it’s available, you’ve entered your password when prompted now go back to your profile.

ICONS & SCREEN NAMES:

basically the icons are the easy part, just go to tumblr and search your fc’s name and icons. so if i was playing a kendal jenner fc i’d search “kendall jenner icons” and i’d pick one i liked and set it as my icon.

click edit profile. (x) 

then click “change your profile photo”. (x) click upload photo and then it’ll take you to your files where you can pick from the photo(s) you saved. resize it, click apply and you’re done with your icon. 

now your screen name. (x) you can have your screen name as your character’s name if you want, however most people add a celebrity’s name or a tv/movie character’s name. maybe someone your character relates too or someone you love or someone your character loves. the possibilities are endless. my character’s screen name was peter pan because he rly loves disney movies. 

BIO/HEADER:

in that little section for a bio you can write anything you want, but people usually add funny tweets from celebrities or the texts from last night twitter acc. (@TFLN) and for the header, this is quick and easy, normally people go two ways - making a funny popular meme their header or something aesthetic-y. just google “twitter headers” for an aesthetic-y header.

now you’re done setting up your account, so pull up the rp main and follow the twitter account -- and if anyone else has their account in, follow them too. only follow people the main is following, obviously.

INTERACTING:

ok so the rp has opened and the admins have given you and the others a little bit of time to plot beforehand. so compose a tweet, press “n” on the keyboard if you’re on a computer. if you’re talking ooc, make sure to add an “/” before you type away just so people know and get to introducing yourself/asking for plots: (x) ps. please don’t judge my lame, nerdy ass example ooc tweet :/

if you get a bunch of likes, dm them & if you get some dms, reply... duh. make sure you add “/” to tell people it’s ooc. in the ooc dms, people will take the time to tell each other about their characters and then you’ll maybe plot a connection out. 

now here’s the fun part: the admin has now told everyone they can start tweeting in character, so go for it !!! the tl will be fast so make sure to tweet a lot but also reply to other people’s tweets. most people will start off with a “selfie” and the caption will probably be something from “texts from last night” but as the rp progresses they’ll use an indirect compliment from another character in the rp. speaking of selfies; make sure to rt and fave everyone’s -- it’s just common courtesy now !!!

dming in character has gotten a lot better because twitter took away the character limit, you can start a para and make it as long as you want because, like  said, there’s no limit! go wildt !!! you’ll know someone is dming you in character because there won’t be a “/” beforehand. also, i think i mentioned this up there, but twitter rps are kinda memey so it’d be a good idea to save a bunch of memes for reaction pics etc. just don’t be too memey bc that’s kinda annoying lmao.
