Kiss Me Slowly
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this is the story I told you about some days ago! I don't know why, but I always think of him when I listen to this song, there's just something about it. This is a Chris x Reader story (fem). Hope y'all like it! <3
Word count: 2,4 k
Based on song: Kiss me slowly, Parachute
Warnings! Angst, divorce (your parents), don' worry it ends well
Tumblr media
The movie night is going great, everyone is happy, Chris is happy, and I couldn’t feel better. Josh picked the movie, Sam brought popcorn and I hosted. It’s great to have someone to give me some type of positivity nowadays. Maybe we’re not friends all the time, but we usually come back to each other. I still don’t understand how we’ve managed for so long. I look over the sofa, capturing the blue eyes of a certain blonde. He must’ve already been looking at me. I can’t help the blush that suddenly coats my cheeks. He was looking at me. Over everyone, not on the movie, but at me. And he’s smiling. Just thinking about it gets me even redder, thank god we turned down the lights for the movie. I take a chance, looking over at him again. He’s still turned my way. When we lock eyes, it feels as if the room goes silent and we’re the only two people in the world. He tries to mimic something with his lips, and I give him a confused look. What is he doing? Is he trying to say something? He laughs at my bad attempt at understanding before trying again, making sure to form each word slowly and distinctive. I read his lips, trying not to get too caught up in them. It’s hard.
“Are you good?” he tries, giving a sweet smile and waiting to see if I understood him.
I give a silent giggle before replying in a nod. He gives me a thumbs up, turning his head back to the movie and paying attention. I can’t take my eyes off him. Today, he wore that cute dark knitted sweater he got a while ago. It looks good on him, not too tight nor too loose. He looked comfy, like I would have fallen asleep if I laid in his arms. I have seen his body before, when he has worn singlets or when I walked in on him in the bathroom back up on the lodge. A normal person would thank the lord himself that this man was wearing a towel, but if they saw it
The point is that he has an incredible body, he’s a big guy. One of those types who gives great hugs and towers over you without being scary or intimidating.
A loud ringing noise interrupts my staring, and everyone suddenly turns to me. My eyes widen as I try to comprehend what’s happening. Emily nudges her head to my lap and I look down. My phone is ringing. And it’s my mom. We’re almost at the end of the movie, so several people are giving me intense stares, urging me to silence it so they can see how everything plays out.
“Sorry” I whisper to everyone, quickly standing up. “I have to take this, just keep watching”
I walk up the stairs and into my room, anxiety rising in my chest. This could either be really good or really bad. No matter which, I would be okay. No one is dying, and no one is hurt. Well, except me, if it’ll go as I think. The knot in my chest tightens, and the air in the room is awfully hard to breathe. I pick up the phone and hold it up to my ear.
“Hey mom” I start, trying to sound as normal as possible. It’s so hard when I feel like I’m choking. I make my way to the window forcing it open.
“Hey sweetheart
” she answers in a horrible tone. It’s trying to be comforting, but she doesn’t manage. I can already feel the last hope in my body die, tears already forming in my eyes.
“Look, I know your dad and I said that the couples counselling might help, but it hasn’t”.
I look down, unable to answer her back. I wish I had siblings or something. Just someone to share this pain with. I thought they loved each other, it always seemed like they had. Why did they suddenly start hating one another?
“We were told by the therapist to make sure to tell you that this is not your fault, but I know you’re old enough to know that. And you’ve moved out and everything! At least this didn’t happen when you were younger, so you would’ve had to move from place to place all the time” she laughs. I feel sick. My heart, my childhood, all my memories are shattering, and she’s laughing? I know she never wanted to fix things. Neither did my father, and I know I shouldn’t have meddled, but I couldn’t help myself. Why did this happen to my family?
“Lucky me” I spit back and I hear her sigh.
“This day had to come one day or another. Remember that this is not your life, it’s ours” she says and I just know she wanted to get out as quickly as possible.
“Mom
” I try, holding back tears. “What really happened? I always assumed that I would be prepared if something like this were to happen. If you fall out of love, there are signs” I explain, the tears overflowing. I can’t stop them.
“Oh sweetie, listen, nothing lasts forever, even if you think it will. What your father and I had, it wasn’t real, it was contentment and we were happy just living our lives”
“That doesn’t make sense”
“Sweetie, I have to go now, but I bet your father will call tomorrow and talk, okay? Have a nice evening!” she says in a freakishly sugary tone, ending the call.
I can’t help my tears flowing down. Salty water tinted black by my mascara. I control my sobs, making sure to hold my hand on my mouth to stop the sounds coming out of me.
I feel pathetic, like a little girl crying over a broken toy. I guess my mother is right, I’m too old to be affected by this, right? Am I just childish for being sad that my parents are breaking up, and both of them will never utter a word to each other again? How am I gonna celebrate the holidays? With which of them? Mom one year, dad another

I hear a door slamming downstairs. The movie must be over, and we’ve got classes tomorrow. Everyone has probably left. If I know Sam right, she has collected all the soda bottles and thrown out the trash. I get up, having to take my makeup off anyway. I’ll wash my face, brush my teeth and go to bed. Maybe I’ll be able to go to sleep after a while. I open the door walking right into someone.
“Oh, sorry!” Chris exclaims.
I look down, aware of the messy state I’m in. I swear, if he says anything comforting right now I’m gonna start crying again.
“Hey
” he starts, his tone lowering and face tilting down, trying to get a look at my face.
“What’s going on?”
I lose it, falling into his chest and crying. I can’t help it. All the emotions coming over me at the same time. I don’t care that he sees me like this.
His arms immediately go around me, pulling me into a tight hug while holding me up. I relax into him, letting the water run freely. One of his hands rubs circles on my back, and his head lowers to mine.
“Did your parents
”
He knows me too well, and I nod into his embrace. He has to know sooner than later anyway. He pulls me even closer, planting a kiss on my head.
“It’ll be okay, I promise” he whispers, and I look up at him. His face is serious, not in a scary way, but he doesn’t have that usual ‘funny-man’ glint in his eyes. Right now, he’s comforting, caring, soft
I truly don’t think I would’ve wanted anyone else to find me like this. Eyes red, mascara on my cheeks and a knocked out body. His hand moves to my cheek, thumb drying off my tears.
“Everything will fall into place soon, and I’ll be here to help you, got that?” he whispers, his hot breath going down my chin.
“Is everyone gone?” I ask, lifting my sleeve and rubbing my cheek, hoping to get some of that damn mascara off.
“They just left”
“Will you stay here tonight?”
“Of course” he doesn’t hesitate answering, and I feel content. Having someone here makes everything feel better.
***
“Got an extra toothbrush?” he shouts from the bathroom.
“Look under the sink, I think there is a new one there. Still in the package!” I yell back.
It’s about an hour after the initial shock, and I feel better. The blow was the hardest thing, now I just need to come to terms with it. I think having Chris here makes it even easier to deal with. I’m not alone, I don’t have to deal with it all by myself. I walk back out, slamming into him once again. He grabs me, stopping me from falling.
“I think you need little bells on your doors here. Can’t stop one from walking into another” he laughs. I smile, seeing his face without his glasses and wearing a white t-shirt he had under his sweater. The air in the hall is heavy as his expression fathers, the seriousness settling in again as I look deeply into his eyes. He looks down on my lips, leaning ever so slightly down. If I wasn’t paying attention, I wouldn’t have noticed. Mirroring his movements, I hold my breath as we both inch closer and closer. My heartbeat raises as I lean completely in, meeting him with a kiss.
It’s careful, sweet, and slow. Movements going in slow motion, taking in every little touch. My arms go around his neck, feeling his naked skin and muscular back. One of his hands settles on my waist, the other cupping my face. I lean slightly harder in, and he does the same, making me almost lose balance. I quickly grab the handle of the bedroom door to stop me from falling. He pulls back, not far, just so that our lips are not touching anymore. I can sense his hesitation, his controlled movements as he slowly slides away from me. I grab the side of his shirt, scared he’s gonna run.
“Don’t go” I plead, lower than a whisper, but he still hears it. I don’t know what his expression is, maybe a mix of vulnerability and shame. I can’t under it.
“We shouldn’t be doing this tonight” he whispers back, and I look down, nodding in agreement. Probably not the best way to cope, though this is something I’ve wanted to do since forever.
“Let’s get into bed” he whispers, taking my hand and leading me back into the bedroom. He lays me down in the bed, and he gets in right after me, holding out his arm. I move into him, head resting on his chest as his arm folds around me. I breathe heavily out, body untensing and calming down. He rubs up and down my arm, and I interlock our legs, leaning even more over on him.
“Want to tell me about it?” he asks, looking down at me.
“Want to hear about it?”
“Always”
I tell him about the separation, how it came as a shock to me. How I urged them to try counselling, and how I feel like a little child trying to trap her parents back together. I tell him about how, all my life, they have loved each other, but it ‘wasn’t real’ according to my mom. I even showed him pictures of my childhood, but he only kept telling me how cute I looked, so I figured that method didn’t work. I told him that they must’ve faked it for a while, just for me. It feels like they both have left me. My mother only talks to me if she has to and my father never calls. I think I remind them of each other, and that’s not something they want to deal with right now.
“I just feel like that last hope I had
That was their love for me, and now
” I can’t finish, unsure or sad. Maybe both.
“They both love you” he says, hugging me tighter.
“You have to say that when I say that my parents don’t love me” I laugh painfully.
“Okay, let’s say your parents don’t love you then” he pauses, and I look up.
“I certainly hope this sentence has a second part”
“I mean to say, that’s not all the love you have, right?”
I nod in agreement.
“You have the group, you have all of us”
“We all know what a wreck that group is, it’ll eventually break up” I state, getting sad again.
“I’ll never leave you” he suddenly whispers, looking down at me again. I tilt my head, meeting his gaze. He’s serious again.
“You could throw me out right now, or ignore me for five years, whatever you decide, but either way
I’ll never let you go, you’ve grown too much on me”
There’s a faint blush on his cheeks, and I feel mine heat up. The room is filled with the type of tension you could cut with a knife, or easily rip apart with your fingers. Was this some type of love declaration?
“I know it’s not the same type of love, but don’t worry, you’ll never be alone”
I lean in, kissing him again. Tears run down once again and he dries them with both his hands, still holding the kiss, holding me. I open my mouth slightly to let him in, and he does. He goes inside me, carefully exploring. It’s so beautifully passionate without being scary and rough. He’s a listener, a gentleman, and a good friend. This man loves me, and I love him back. I pour all my feelings into him, but every touch still feels so intimate and tender. We continue for a while before both stopping to catch our breaths.
“Tired?” he asks, smiling with glistening lips.
“Very” I respond, the feeling unbearable. I don’t want to sleep. I want to stay with him, talk to him, and hear his voice.
“Here” He moves his arm again, getting me in a comfortable position. If it weren’t for him, I would probably not fall asleep tonight. He’s a good distraction, as well as a listener and comforter. I close my eyes, melting into his warm body.

bipirate's favourite things: 2024 edition
2022 version | 2023 version
i have a spreadsheet with all the media i consume throughout the year (not just things that came out this year!) and i give them ratings. these are the highs (and some of the lows) of 2024, not in any order. bolded entries are my personal favourites!
Games
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - i only played 2.5 new games this year but i really liked echoes of wisdom. you can read lot of my thoughts here!
TV
Derry Girls - i started this ages ago but finally finished it this year. hilarious
Trigun (1998) - i had a great time with this classic anime! i went in not knowing anything about it except for the main character's name and i think that was for the best, honestly
Kingdom: Legendary War - yes this is a kpop variety show from 2021 but it was SO much fun to watch with my sister
Dungeon Meshi - like everyone else on this gay ass site, i loved this anime so much. the characters are lovable, the animation is delicious, and the lesbianism is off the charts
Arcane (season 2) - what can i say, i love arcane. i love the characters, the gorgeous animation, the lesbianism - wait i'm getting deja vu
Ranma 1/2 (2024) - the og ranma 1/2 was the first proper anime i ever watched and to this day i have a huge fondness for it. this remake was a small highlight of my week <3
Movies
All of Us Strangers - i didn't see many movies this year but i'm glad i watched this one, it was really good!
Nimona - i watched this like last week and really enjoyed it, the animation was nice and the story was simple but beautiful
Podcasts (new!)
Versus Wolves - youtubers/content creators supereyepatchwolf and woolie versus recommend each other their favourite media (or anything, really) and discuss and rank them. it's delightful
Media Club Plus - a really fun hunter x hunter podcast!!!!
Books
A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske (#1 of The Last Binding trilogy) - a historical fantasy with a really creative magic system, a decent romance (better than most romance books i've read recently) and a surprisingly engaging overarching plot. the main couples in books 2 and 3 didn't grab me as much, but i enjoyed the entire trilogy!
The Lord of the Rings trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien (narrated by Andy Serkis) - i'm crediting the audiobooks here because i don't think i would have felt the same if i had just read them. andy serkis does an amazing job narrating this story
Graphic novels/manga
The Adventure Zone: The Suffering Game by Carey Pietsch & The McElroys - i don't listen to any of their podcasts anymore but taz balance will forever have a place in my heart
Witch Hat Atelier by Shirahama Kamome - i keep reading new chapters so this manga stays on my list <3
Music (new!)
Stray Kids - technically i got into them at the end of last year, but i'm counting them for this year because it's truly been a blast <3
Chappell Roan - everyone and their mom loves chappell roan but that's a compliment imo
Bonus: the lowest of the low, titles that earned my ‘bad/sucked shit’ rating
Cooking Crush - watching thai BLs is like playing russian roulette. how is it that these actors can knock it out of the park in one show (not me) but give absolutely Nothing in another?
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - sorryyy i don't get why this book is so popular

Get to know me (tag game)
I'm super late for this one, but I've merged two sets of questions, thank you @savriea & @dutifullylazybread for the tag! I'm very happy 🌾
Do you make your bed? —I do - or I try to, I feel better when it's done and it makes me feel like I can move on with my day đŸ«Ą Exceptions are for when I'm late, but then I would do it before going to bed!
Favourite number? — 5 (but 3 or 7 also work) (I like odd numbers in general)
What's your job? — I quit my job a few weeks ago sooo at the moment unemployed fanfic writer I guess đŸ€
If you could go back to school, would you? — I think so! I would love to go back to study something I really like without the pressure of earning the degree since I already have one, and then take the time to actually learn and discuss the topics rather than to focus on grades.
Can you parallel park? — In theory, yes, I can. In practice... maybe? I don't drive often, so when I have to park I try to make it as easy as I can for myself (so not parallel park)
Do you think aliens are real? — Yes, I think it'd be quite sad if we were the only form of life in the universe
Can you drive a manual car? — Yes!
What's your guilty pleasure? — Cheesy romance and romcoms, I'm down baaaad for it, especially the 90s ones
Tattoos? — Not yet, mostly because I'm too indecisive on what to get and where haha
Favourite color? — Red, then shades of purples, blues and greens :)
Favourite type of music? — Taylor Swift definitely, but otherwise I love pop-rock and instrumental/classical soundtracks from games and movies
Do you like puzzles? — Ehhh, I can do puzzles to pass the time but I'm not drawn to them otherwise. If I can't get it quickly it tends to annoy me đŸ„Č
Any phobias? — Yeah, spiders :(
Favourite childhood sport? — I had a complex relationship with sports as a kid so I don't think I had any really? But I loved to run around and play hide and seek if that counts lol
Do you talk to yourself? — Occasionally, when I need to "hear" the steps in a process or to guide myself through something step by step. Sometimes I do it when I'm in a very good mood too!
What movie(s) do you adore? — Oh! Lords of the Ring trilogy is my absolute fave of all time, then the Ghibli movies, Pride & Prejudice (2005), and I cannot think of others at the moment although I'm sure there's at least like 20 more haha
Coffee or tea? — Tea always, but in recent years I've learned to like coffee (although I love the smell more than the taste)
First thing you wanted to be growing up? — A teacher! And I'm kinda glad I didn't choose this path now 😬
Last song I listened to — guilty as sin đŸ€
Current obsession— Rolan 👀 and BG3 in general ❀
Last thing I Googled — my dentist's phone number lol
Favorite Season — Autumn, when the leaves are red and gold and the sky is still blue 🍁
Skill I'd like to learn — Drawing! I've just started to take art classes and I'm super motivated (and to finally be able to draw all my Tavs! and their partners hihi)
Best advice — trust yourself and do things for yourself first and foremost (drawing, writing, etc etc); don't try to match people's expectations and do things at your own pace, life's not a race :)
Currently watching — waiting for Bridgerton part 2, so in the meantime I'm rewatching the classic period drama movies (P&P, Emma, etc.)
Currently reading — Quoting this from @savriea because it's exactly my answer too lmao
— A stupidly long list of BG3 fanfics as my "to read" books sit gathering dust on my bookshelf.
Relationship status — taken, four years already :)
Sweet/Savory/Spicy — sweet all the way with a side of savoury, spicy food is a no-go however, I cannot handle spices đŸ˜±
no pressure tags for the lovely @sleketon666 @kimberbohwrites @poetryvampire 🌾 (feel free to ignore if you've already done it!!)

Favorite video game?
The Sims 4.
Favorite video game character?
No idea. Probably my dad’s video game OC blorbos.
Favorite movie or TV series?
Movies
The Lord of the Rings
The Avengers
Megamind
Kung Fu Panda 2
How to Train Your Dragon
Star Wars
Harry Potter (no one @ me)
If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (yes, I’m counting this)
TV Series
The 100 (in it for the whump, and some ships, only ever watch it up to the end of season 6)
Supernatural
Teen Wolf
Doctor Who
Rebels
The Clone Wars
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Lucifer
Never Have I Ever
Avatar: The Last Airbender
The Legend of Korra
Trollhunters
Race to the Edge
Game of Thrones (season 8 doesn’t exist, okay?)
Reign
Favorite movie or TV series character?
I’m on a Frodo Baggins kick right now, but am still obsessed with a ton of other characters.
Hobbies:
Thanks to injuries, COVID stealing my singing voice 3 years ago, and my clarinet being broken my hobbies have definitely diminished. Right now it’s basically just reading, and watching shows and movies, maybe a smidge of writing. Does getting obsessive and anxious about the internet/social media count as a hobby?
Obsessions:
Sam Winchester, Star Wars, Supernatural, The Lord of the Rings, Never Have I Ever. Background obsessions are everywhere, like Doctor Who, Teen Wolf. Mention it and I’ll be talking for hours.
Favorite genre/type of background music for whump daydreams?
Cinematic alternative.
What is your favorite whump trope?
Captivity! Once read the second half of a book in a day because the main character got captured.
What is your favorite whump pairing?
S
A
M
I
F
E
R
Sorry, had to write it like that because I’m so excited.
What was (one of) the first time(s) you experienced whumperflies?
The first was probably either while reading the Gone series by Michael Grant, or watching Teen Wolf. I vividly remember some of my first whumperflies being from watching season 7 of Supernatural and realizing what Lucifer had done to Sam in the Cage. Now ANY of their scenes give me whumperflies.
What’s your favorite whump scene from a piece of media?
Episode 3x18 “Riddled” from Teen Wolf. Everything with Stiles in that episode!! I have watched this over and over again just to see Stiles missing and getting tortured in his sleep. His SCREAMS. I’d recognize them anywhere. He’s getting hypothermia, and there’s a fucking steel jaw trap on his leg!!!
GIFS INCLUDED
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What’s a book you would recommend, whump or not?
Hmm, this is tough because I read so much. Probably the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas because of it being epic fantasy with most of the last book being battles, and there is definitely a lot of whump.
What’s your favorite whump fic?
Some of them are definitely my own. Sorry. But damn, can we praise Infernal Fascination? Would get a link, but you know, AO3 is going through it.
Added Question: Who is your favorite author?
Damn, too hard. Time to list a few:
Brandon Sanderson
J. R. R. Tolkien
Robert Jordan
Sarah J. Maas
Michael Grant
R. F. Kuang, apparently, since I have all her books
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Kristen Britain
Rick Riordan
Jim Butcher
And add your own question:
What is your favorite whumpy book?
Not sure who to tag. Maybe @suncaptor would be interested in this?

So some days ago, I decided to read the hobbit and the lord of the rings. And i finished reading the hobbit. And it was fun. There was a meddling wizard, stupid trolls who argue over cooking methods, nasty goblins, wolves, giant spiders, nice elves, a slightly creepy creature living beside an underground lake, an awesome magic ring, ( yes, i thought that a magic ring which can turn you invisible was pretty neat while reading the hobbit, thank you very much, can we please move on), some nice elves and men, a dragon, a mountain full of treasure, 13 dwarves who seemed to share a single brain cell amongst them and a hobbit who by sheer dumb luck made it to the mountain. Okay so dwarves are greedy bastards and doesn't want to share their gold? Poor lake people got their town burned oh please guys give that bard guy some gold he killed a DRAGON for goodness' sake. Where does the army of elves came from? Why do they want gold? It's not theirs, well factor some not nice elves. There's a pretty shiny rock, oohh i guess that's important ( then i also read a book about 3 pretty shiny rocks and the number of people who died or were killed for them, 😐)Ahh, there is a dwarf army too, i guess they'll fight it out. ooh poor hobbit, don't you dare hurt him mr. Dwarf King. What's that in the horizon? An army of the mutual enemy who wants to kill everyone? And everyone united to kill them instead? How are the eagles involved again? Ohh the king and his nephews are dead, his cousin is now king, well at least he apologized before dying. Ohh bilbo returned home. Okay the end. It was good.
Then i watched the movies.
WHAT? Are you telling me THiS Guy here is Thorin Oakenshield? But but, he is going to dieeee. I don't want him to die. Wait, Fili and Kili are so cute, but they are also going to die.
Ahhh, complex dwarf character, they had a home and then the dragon happened and now they don't have a home and they want their home back even if it means there are only 13 of them, (and a hobbit, and a wizard though he might run away at times, who knows, wizards) against a dragon. It is about reclaiming your home and not only about the gold, ahhh someone kill me imma die from the feels.
Wait, why are you making the- are you making the already hot exiled dwarf king even more hot and complex and broody, it is not fair, he is going to die in the end. Where is the dmaned director, i hate you.
No no heart don't you dare fall in love this guy is going to die and break your heart in the end, red flags, red flags, abort mission.
Waiitttt, so there is the hobbit and the dwarf, are you sureee there is nothing going on between them?
So the little dwarf prince fell for a elf, and his uncle hates elves cause they didn't help them when the dragons came, okay then, but i miss the nice elves from the books, but this elvenking is also kinda hot.
Does this elf prince have spider powers? Man he is reminding me of peter parker how is he maintaining balance while fighting like that?
Oooh damn, bard is also hot. *Screams in a pillow*
I feel like the 3rd movie is gonna break my heart.
Okay the dragon's gone, i likey like bard's children, they are cute. Go away Alfred no one wants to hear you. Annddddd Thorin went mad, so did some dwarves to a lesser degree, and bilbo is sad, you can't literally see the heartbreak in his eyes, you can feel it across the screen, i am also sad bilbo. You are not alone.
Ahhh Thorin smiled at Bilbo and gave him mithril shirt, are you absolutely sure they are just friends mr. Director?
Thorin's eyes, i can see how they turn back and forth between blue and black. I feel the struggle. Ahhh come on Thorin you can fight it.
Ahhh, Bofur you are Bilbo's bff, i knew it.
Wait, are you also sure there's nothing going on between Thranduil and Bard? Or the wizard and the badass lady?
Here it comes, here it comes, the battlement scene, Thorin don't hurt bilbo can't you see you are breaking his heart and mine too.
Ahh Dain is funny. The elves fight so pretty.
See, this is what happens when you ignore the wizard, damn you people, he was trying to tell you about the army since foreever, why are you acting so surprised now.
Is legolas into gymnastics? How the hell could he fight like that? I thought elves were nature lovers and star gazers, i didnt know they were into acrobatics.
Oh thank Eru Thorin's fine now. Yee boys go and bash some orc skulls. No, nooo don't go there there is another army ahhh. *Screams into pillow again*
Nooo, FILIII.... *Starts crying 😭😭😭*
KILI not you tooo ... Tauriel is sad, so am i.
Ahhhh THORIN 😭😭😭😭 ahdievxosnwbixjqoevdooqnckcn
He dies, he dies in his Hobbit's arms and you cannot tell me they are just friends, I don't- i won't believe it.
* screams and cries and throws things, there are tissues scattered everywhere, the family members thinking i am mad.*
So mr. director come here let's have a chat, i have cookies. *Creepy smile.*
Why did you make a greedy dwarf king into a three dimensional complex character who is prideful but also wants the best for his people, and casted a damned hot guy as him and made him look at the camera like THAT and smile like THAT when you knew he was goinggg to dieeee? I was not mentally prepared for this shit and now i have trauma and it's your fault and i swear I'm gonna murder you with conkers you-

Honest to god, same. Solomon is in my head 24/7, it's a problem that I'm not willing or wanting to fix 😂
I just wanted to share some of my favorite thoughts of him, if that's alright...
-Him making and bringing you coffee/tea while you're still up and working on something at 3 am while he sits with you doing his own thing.
-Outrageously long movie/tv show marathons with him and quoting iconic lines and scenes, specifically Lord of the Rings (cause i'm a nerd and i feel like he would like it too) but other long series work too.
-Going to watch plays with him - there was this play that I went to a few years ago and it was a Shakespeare mashup of a few of his plays and it was sooo funny! It was a very non-serious play, and I like to think Solomon would've enjoyed it. (sorry for rambling on this one)
-It doesn't matter the occasion, there doesn't even need to be an occasion, but finding and giving each other stupid/funny cards with something silly written on the inside.
-When shopping, the two of you heading straight to the candle section and spending an absurd amount of time there rating the different smells and such.
-Doing tarot readings for each other, also guessing each other's astrology placements (if you're into that lol).
Anyways, that's just a few that I can think of, I'm literally so in love with him đŸ˜© Maybe I'll expand on these one day, once my writer's block leaves me alone haha... (sorry for rambling again)
*slams table* YES TO ALL OF THESE
I think i read somewhere before that working alongside mc is a dream come true for him. There's just the comfortable silence between you and both keeping each other company while doing your own business.
I do see him liking plays and long movie marathons!! Imagine the confusion of the people around you when you quote references from those movies, or trying to re-enact scenes from the play at the most random moments (like getting a glass of water but he's giving it to you in the most dramatic way). Both of you find amusement in the puzzled face they're making as you get absorbed in your own personal little world where no one else but you understand each other.
I remember giving wedding or birthday cards to my bestfriend even tho it's not her birthday (we were like 13 at that time) lol anyways there's like an unofficial competition between you where whoever has the silliest card wins (he has the leading score)
As a scented candle enthusiast this is a hard yes. He'll light one whenever you have reading sessions or just when the mood strikes him. I don't know much about tarot but i really wanna learn how to read it.
Rambles, thoughts, brainrots, etc. are always welcome in my blog! No need to feel sorry, i'm always happy to hear them!! 😊

Get to know me meme
Thank you @nottonyharrison for tagging me <3
last song: Love Like Ghost by Lord Huron. It’s been a Lord Huron kind of day.
last show: So I don’t actually watch much TV at all. I’m really not sure what the last thing I watched was. Maybe Our Flag Means Death? Or Ted Lasso? Either way, it was several months ago at least.
currently watching: uh
I’ve been watching some Elden Ring Speedruns? Does that count? I don’t watch many TV shows or movies but I do watch a lot of speedrunning.
currently reading: I’m reading the Murderbot Diaries and having a great time. They’re just wonderfully funny. Just a delight from start to finish.
current obsession:
Tumblr media
It’s still Star Wars. There’s no escape for me. I’m going to die here.
Tagging: @the-bees-patella, @commaeleons, @cabezadeperro and @haltiamieli if any of you feel like it :D

Note
29,30,31,32
3, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 25, 29, 30, 31, 32, 46, 72, 78, 90, 91?
3, One activity I hate: being around my father, "talking" with him.
5, Disgusting meal: everything with spinach or cooked vegetables in general. I prefer fruits and vegetables raw much more.
6, idols of mine: Jackie Chan, Vin Diesel as real life people
7, person I really hate: my father, one ex-girlfriend
11: Afraid of might not be the correct word for it, but I do not like ants. They are chill as long as they stay away from me. 0,0
12, people I hate: stubborn, narcotic, self-loving or overly self-esteemed people. Like no matter how much you scientifically know and proof them wrong, they do not care about you or your opinion. You may have spent your whole life doing nothing but this one thing and they still tell you you have no idea.
25, dances I know or want to know: by far I am not an expert, but I enjoy Tango, Salsa, line dance and classic (like Waltzer for example). And of course would love to have real lessons in it!!! (Hopefully not alone though
)
29, good childhood memory: camping iutside, getting awake by the warmth of sunlight on your face, staying up late near a camp fire,
I would love to have more of these

30, happy with my life: HAHAHAHAHA, ABSOLUTELY not!!!!! I literally tried to end it last weekend and still somehow made it through the night, not walking straight or even in a line for two days.
31, something I regret/wish I had done different: Punching that knife through my throat/Shutting of my phone on new year’s eve from 2017 tp 2018. Literally ten seconds would have made a BIG difference, but nope, here I still am
 -_-
32, seven years ago did I picture my life being like this: i did not really thought it would be that bad, but I am also not surprised. So yes, I knew my life would be shitty, but damn was I a fool

33, from now in seven years: HOPEFULLY, hopefully dead long ago, or but more unrealistic, finally settled in life. (solid work, good/enough income, happy wife, happy kids,
)
34, yes, I am thankful for pretty every experience I made. Of course some painful less would not be bad but after all those are the moments that form us the most. How could we be thankful for food on our plate if not knowing what hunger feels like?
35, any ability to gain and one to tribute: reading minds would help a LOT but simultaneously would be manipulative, so I would love to be able to fly and give up the ability to speak, if that’s what it takes. (Just imagine the wonderful sceneries you can gasp on above or amongst the clouds, how many wonderful sunrises you could see above water, how beautiful the night sky is in different countries,
)
36, bad habit of mine: never shutting up. Too many times I have unwillingly told sad stories of mine just to avoid that awkward silence

40, The movie “The haunted mansion” with Eddie Murphy left quite a mark on me, even though it is a good movie.
41, movie scenes with reflections in a dark setting, like in “The haunted mansion”, where a character looks up in a mirror and sees himself as a bloody, dead self or some other evil creatures.
42, childish behaviour of mine: the urge to try out playgrounds when passing by or balancing on small edges whenever possible.
46, I am ABSOLUTELY an animal person!!! I do not care what you think of me (as long as I don’t know you) as long as I can play with that big doggo or play around with that kitty or watch those bunnies hop around and around.
54, at school I was the one being joked about and untaken from primary school to the finals. (Although the last two years were much less bullying and outcasting.)
55, I do NOT like my hometown at all! Sure, it’s good living here and you get everywhere easily, but I prefer rural areas much more than metropolitan.
61, stand-alone movies or rows: I rarily watch movies but if, then most of times a whole collection in a row. Like Pirates of the Caribean or Lord of the rings, Star Wars, Hunger games, Rush Hour,
I may not watch one after another instantly, but still try to finish the series in a short time.
62, something afraid of telling a new girlfriend: my weird quirks/faults (which she would find out sooner or later anyway) and my weird kinks. (Nothing harmful but still weird.)
72, am I attractive in some way: Well, to be honest, many people (women and men) told me I have quite a sexy or athletic body, but that’s it I guess. I may be a lot funny, but stupid, open hearted yet mentally broken, caring but ugly, soooo
Maybe I am attractive for just the first glimpse???
78, when is a relationship official: As soon as you kiss one another frequently/regularly. Doesn’t even need to be the mouth, but Gentleman-like on the woman’s hand as a greeting and goodbye is pretty much solid proof one is interested and the other not neglecting.
79, I am absolutely and always honest, so do not mind asking me anything.
80, I HATE the way I look!!! I could be stronger, could be taller, skinnier/thinner, better face, better hair,

81, three wishes: to finally be dead, (secret) and/or live the dream of my life (happy family of my own, own yard and house, few animals of our oen,
)
82, I ALWAYS wanted to have younger siblings to take care of, which lateron turned into having my own kids, yes.
90, IF that person has time and I KNOW it, I call them most-probably on my way there. But since apparently no one on this planet (amongst my generation and younger) seems to accept calls or even visits, I text people.
91, In my opinion you do not need a certain date or anniversary to celebrate your relationship. If you feel like going on a date together, ligthing the room with candles, prepare a lovely bathroom for her, sending her flowers, then do so! I hate it when people only focus on certain dates! Like why only call me on my birthday if you know I want to see you more often? Why acting like we love our family if we talk bad about each other through the whole year???

The last song you listened to: Bloodshot by Enter Shikari hopelessly addicted to them. i've totally not had the new EP on repeat... i swear
Currently Reading: Nothing actually. I don't really read anymore, outside of video game lore and roleplays, however. last thing i actually read/e-booked was adrians undead diary. i quite enjoyed it. but that was a couple years ago
Last Movie: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring! but the fancy extended cut. watched it with a few friends and it was highly enjoyable. we're figuring out a time currently to sit down and watch two-towers extended cut
What are you wearing right now: A pair of jog pants that i turned into shorts with some expert tailoring skills:tm: and a limited edition enter shikari hoodie. its bright pink and has some flower power asf font with the bands name on the back
How tall are you: Last time i checked... i think around 6'3? (182.88 cm according to google)
Piercings: None currently. Although i would like to potentially look into getting my ears pierced
Tattoos: None currently. But i do have some plans for tattoo's
Glasses? Contacts? Neither! i'm pretty sure i have perfect vision. admittedly its been awhile since my last optician visit
Last drink: Tea. Strong. Dash of milk. Three sugars. Yorkshire tea preferably but i'm not picky. Still drinking it while writing this
Last show: uhhhh... I don't remember, i started episode 1 of breaking bad a few weeks back but i've yet to pick it back up. i've been busy doing other things
Last thing you ate: [Nervous laugh] my dinner... which i ate last night... It's currently 4:22 pm... i ate my dinner at around 8 pm yesterday... Oops?
Favourite colour: its hard to pick. its always a toss up of 3 depending on the day. a deep/maroon red, a green-ish yellow known as charteuse. or neon green
Current obsession: Enter shikari. But it'll probably go back to FFXIV at some point
Unrelated Obsession: I don't think i'm capable of being obsessed with more than one thing at a time tbh. i guess haellen and ophelia's OC lore would be the closest thing? but that's just a given at this point
Any pets: Yes! i take care of 3 dogs and only one of them is mine. he is a jack russel named timmy (timothy when he's fucked up) and he is the bestest
Do you have a crush on anyone: i used to have a crush on someone from my friend group. but sometime a few years ago i sort of... "Gave up" on romance and romantic feelings. it started to exhaust me
Favourite fictional character: you cannot make me pick one so i will instead list a few of my favourites, as i adore them all equally. robot-ky, baiken, emet-selch, garrus vakarian, saltzpyre, and last but not least, the drifter

1. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
(Long history with this one, but let’s just say my personal copy of it is the item that family members have told me is the litmus tests if I should ever disappear. If it’s still here, I did not go willingly.)
2. Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkein
(When I was 12 I was in a weird place, and my mother, who adores the movies, told me that she’d never actually read the books. It took me several weeks, and one night where my mom came to check on me because my light was still on after midnight, only to find that I had fallen asleep and was drooling on top of Return of the King.)
3. Jane Eyre – Charlotte Bronte
(First Brontë I ever read, and I listened to it on audio first. Two years ago I gave my grandparents, who never actually pick gifts, they just want Amazon links sent to them, a choice between Jagged Little Pill on vinyl, and a nice copy of Jane Eyre. Apparently they decided Jane Eyre was less scandalous.)
4. Harry Potter series
(My mom read all seven of these out loud to me and my siblings over the course of seven years.)
5. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
(The summer before I started college, so when I was 15, I worked twice a week at my local library, and I would always go home with huge stacks of books because I was going through one every day, or two if it was particularly dense. I read this one that summer, mostly while spread out on a picnic blanket in my backyard, and I think that’s how it was always intended to be read.)
6. The Bible
(Yes. All of it. In case my blog hasn’t given it away by now, my religious upbringing was
 intense.)
7. Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte
(I read this book once for school when I was 14 and hated it. I read it again when I was 16 and bought a copy in Grand Central Station, still hated it. But when I read it again at 19, because I was extremely bored at work and saw it on audio? So yeah, I read a book I knew I hated twice, it shouldn’t have surprised me when I realized I actually liked it and it was important to me.)
8. Nineteen Eighty Four – George Orwell
(I actually got into a discussion with my collage English professor at one point about what our favorite books where, and I mentioned Orwell, he had thought I ment this one, but I was talking about Animal Farm. This made me a little self conscious, because I hadn’t read the bigger hit, so I immediately wandered up to the school library and checked this one out, just so I could say I’d read it by Wednesday when class met again.)
9. Great Expectations – Charles Dickens
(I had a hot Charles Dickens summer one year. This was the first one I read, and it was because of Into the Spiderverse. Miles Morales is a role model.)
10. Little Women – Louisa M Alcott
(I do not love this book. I have watched every adaptation that has ever been made, yes, even the anime. The Greta Gerwig one is pretty good because I’m a sucker for non-linear narratives and Florence Pugh and TimothĂ©e Chalamet are pretty good at it.) ïżŒ
11. Catch 22 – Joseph Heller
(In December of 2021, I realized that I had never read this book, and had the opportunity to do something very funny. So yeah. I read what is considered to be one of the greatest novels of the 20th century as a joke to myself. Anyway, it’s very good, you should probably read it, especially if you like WWII stories and Kafka. Again, love a non-linear narrative.)
12. Complete Works of Shakespeare
(Yes. I got a complete edition at a library book sale, and drew stars on the cover in white gel pen so people would know it was mine, because I’m apparently that bitch. Although, I haven’t read the lost plays (obviously) so I don’t know if I can honestly say I’ve read the Complete works.)
13. Rebecca – Daphne Du Maurier
(I read this after watching Hannibal the series for the second time because I got into a very deep Gothic Romance mood. I also accidentally got my friend to read it because we were comparing our current reads at the time, and that is how I ended up reading We Always Lived in a Castle.)
14. The Hobbit – JRR Tolkien
(The far superior Tolkien work in my personal taste. I love it. One of my friends reads this book once a year, and I love that for them, I’m not quite that in love with it, but this is about where my limits on where I can enjoy fantasy lie. Like, I’ll read higher stuff if I make myself, but I’ll tell you right now, I’m going to finish and move the fuck on.)
15. Catcher in the Rye
(It’s by J. D. Salinger, by the way. The list didn’t have an author on there. Read this one the same summer as To Kill a Mockingbird. Anyway, I love that Holden Caulfield was just some fucking guy that Salinger made up and decided to put in a bunch of his works, without bothering to make it into a series by making timelines or middle names match. He really just put his OC in situations, and I love that.)
16. Gone With The Wind – Margaret Mitchell
(My brother used to work a job where he would help a guy in town sort through old books that he got from somewhere, and pick out ones that were still readable from ones that had been completely ruined, and he made a few bucks an hour and got to take home any books he wanted, and the guy would sell the good ones for like fifty cents somewhere. But my brother would always bring home books he thought people would like. At the time I was obsessed with the costume designs Walter Plunkett had done for the 1939 mega-hit film. So, when my brother found one while sorting through books, I ended up being gifted the most beaten up copy of Gone With the Wind I’ve ever seen in my life.)
17. The Great Gatsby – F Scott Fitzgerald
(I am obnoxious about this book. I can, and have, talked for hours about this book. There is an audiobook for this book narrated by Jake GyllenhaalïżŒ, he is perfect for Nick Carraway. This book is the save me meme for me.)
18. Bleak House – Charles Dickens
(Again. Charles Dickens summer.)
19. War and Peace – Leo Tolstoy
(Did I read this book after I listened to Great Comet? Yes. Did I read all of it? Also yes. Having done so, and legitimately liking quite a lot of it, I do recommend it if you liked Great Comet, because the detail you get to go into is great, and makes you feel like a huge nerd. Also, recommend for people who want a 55 hour long audiobook.)
20. The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Douglas Adams
(There’s an audiobook for this one narrated by Steven Fry. It’s also one of the funniest books I’ve ever read.)
21. Alice in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll
(Have I ever mentioned that I hate “it was all a dream/no one remembers” endings? Because I hate “it was all a dream/no one remembers” endings. I do, however, really like “person goes to a fucked up new place” stories. So I guess it balances out. The Cheshire Cat ïżŒis on the list of characters I would commit war crimes to play.)
22. The Wind in the Willows – Kenneth Grahame
(Me and my brother both read this book when we were younger and for years whenever we hear the name of this one, or literally anything with the word “wind” or “willows” in the title we’ll go “is that the one with the mole?”, because we think it’s funny.)
23. Anna Karenina – Leo Tolstoy
(I was once in a book club with two high school English teachers, and two housewives. We all made the mistake of letting one of the English teachers pick first, and this was the first and only book that club was assigned, as no one but me actually finished it. Anyway, the 2012 film version is a fucking masterpiece and I don’t know why it’s not talked about more.)
24. David Copperfield – Charles Dickens
(Charles Dickens summer. ïżŒI actually read Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver recently too, and that book is very very good, I would honestly say go read that one before this one.)
25. Chronicles of Narnia – CS Lewis
(My brother was very into these when he was like, 15, and I read them. They’re not my favorite, and honestly, many people who like them more have more interesting things to say about them than I do.)
26. Emma – Jane Austen
(I don’t know what magic Austen put into this book to constantly get the best film adaptations made of it, but my god she did. It’s a triple header too, because the Gwyneth Paltrow one is a perfectly goodïżŒ older style straight Austen period film. Clueless is probably my favorite of the “let’s do a high school AU of this piece of classical literature” genre, and Emma. (2020) is
 just about perfect.)
27. Persuasion – Jane Austen
(This is probably Austen’s best book from a craft standpoint. It’s not my favorite of her works because of nostalgia I have for pride and prejudice, but
I mean, it’s the getting back together one, which is my favorite romance subgenre. Idk, I would recommend this one first to anyone who was asking me where to start with Jane Austen.)
28. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe – CS Lewis
(Again. People who like this book more than I do definitely have more interesting things to say about it. ïżŒThat being said, the film version of this one fucking slaps, ïżŒand if you haven’t recently, you should rewatch it.)
29. Memoirs of a Geisha – Arthur Golden
(This is a book that I think would have greatly benefited from being written by a woman. Or someone who grew up in Japan. Or someone who didn’t get sued for breach of contract and defamation of character by one of the geisha he interviewed to write this novel. Anyway, I recommend Mineko Iwasaki’s autobiography, Geisha of Gion.)
30. Winnie the Pooh – AA Milne
(I don’t have much to say about this one. I read, and then I read something else. This one wasn’t a cornerstone of my childhood like I know it was for a lot of people.)
31. Animal Farm – George Orwell
(One of my favorite books of all time. I read it for the first time at 14, and proceeded to read it 12 more times in two months. It’s a very fast read, and I had anti-totalitarianism sensibilities that were ripe for feeding.)
32. The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown
(I’m not going to lie. I like the movie version of this one just fine. Read the book anyway. But, fun fact, when this movie came out I lived in Mississippi, and there was a campaign against my local library to get the book taken out of their catalog on the basis of blasphemy. So that’s wild.)
33. Anne of Green Gables – LM Montgomery
(In contrast to my last point, this is one that is just so light, and airy, and just reading it makes you feel good. It’s like a scented candle in book form. And no film adaptation is ever going be able to capture that, because it’s not about seeing the world with Anne in it as something shining and beautiful, it’s about how Anne sees the world as something shining and beautiful, and she makes you see it that way too.)
34. The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood
(So, this book is great. We all know that. Now, onto storytime. Once upon a time in the 90’s, my dad got bored one day and decided to watch the 1990 movie version of this one, he didn’t know what it was about, but had heard that it was sci-fi, and had assumed it was some Star Wars for girls type thing. He was unprepared.)
35. Lord of the Flies – William Golding
(As a child, many elements of my life and behavior was compared to this book in a way that I, with my infinite understanding of social cues, picked up on the subtle fact that this was an insult. Thinking that I was somehow winning, I decided to read this book to prove
some point? And I ended up agreeing with the adults in my life, I absolutely was like that one kid who wanders off into the woods and is never seen again.)
36. Atonement – Ian McEwan
(I think one of my first posts on this blog was me reblogging gif sets from the film version of this.)
37. Life of Pi – Yann Martel
(Forever gate keeping Black Sails from people who think debating whether or not the tiger was real is important to understanding what the story is about.)
38. Dune – Frank Herbert
(I have been banned from talking about Dune around my family anymore after the time I got super wasted at a thanksgiving party my parents’s friends were hosting, and spent 35 minutes explaining Dune, with relevant facts about Frank Herbert’s life, to a woman who had mentioned that her husband has seen the newer one. She hadn’t even watched that one.)
39. Sense and Sensibility – Jane Austen
(This is my least favorite Austen novel. There’s some modern AU version ïżŒof this that I read at one point that I don’t remember the name of, but there was this scene where the mom was standing on the beach and looking at golden retriever wondering if she could ask the owner for a clipping of its fur so she could show it to her hair colorist.)
40. A Tale Of Two Cities – Charles Dickens
(Charles Dickens Summer!!!!)
41. Of Mice and Men – John Steinbeck
(If I had a nickel for every 20th century American novel about a deeply strange little man who had to deal with the devastating psychological affects of his best friend’s death, I would have I wouldïżŒ have so many nickels.)
42. Lolita – Vladimir Nabokov
(I think there should be a rule about watching the Kubrick film where, in order to see it, you should have to write a five paragraph essay about the original novel.)
43. Count of Monte Cristo – Alexandre Dumas
(This book fucking rocks. It is also my number one on list of novels that I think would most benefit from a podcast adaptation. Not like, a read-along, but like, a story based on the Count of Monte Cristo would kill it in podcast form.)
44. On The Road – Jack Kerouac
(I’ve read it. I can neither confirm nor deny whether or not it was before or after watching supernatural.)
45. Bridget Jones’s Diary – Helen Fielding
(So there’s a The Wombats song called “Kill the Director” where the bridge is just “this is no Bridget Jones” several times, and I wasn’t familiar with the reference, so I looked it up, and somehow managed to miss the, extremely popular, film adaptation, and thought it was just a reference to the book. I didn’t realize my mistake until I mentioned it to someone who didn’t know there was a book, and had assumed I was talking about the film.)
46. Moby Dick – Herman Melville
(This is like War & Peace, in that it is a brick and there should be an adaptation that’s just the last 90 pages. But also, I read this book after reading a book of essays called “Why You Should Read Moby Dick” which, convinced me to read Moby Dick. But yeah, you could give this book to aliens and they would be able to recreate the 19th century whaling American industry from scratch.)
47. Oliver Twist – Charles Dickens
(Charles Dickens Summer! Also, this is one of those books that was very obviously serialized and would probably benefit greatly from being presented in that format as opposed to in a novel, because it does drag on when it’s just one chunk.)
48. Dracula – Bram Stoker
(I’m not the biggest fan of epistolary novels, but hey, it’s Dracula. I’ve done it all. Every film adaptation? Yes. The Edward Gorey illustrated edition? Own it. Dracula Daily? Two years. Re: Dracula? Got the jumpscare of my life when Dr. Seward started talking because I didn’t realize Jonny Sims was in this.)
49. The Secret Garden – Frances Hodgson Burnett
(This book would have been greatly improved by less racism and more talking robins.)
50. The Bell Jar – Sylvia Plath
(This book would be greatly improved by more people who read it understanding what an unreliable narrator is.)
51. A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens
(This is not a member of the Charles Dickens Summer club. I just read it one Christmas when I was like 8. Anyway, it’s hilarious and exactly what you expect. I also would have assumed that the coffin nail was the deadest nail of all.)
52. The Color Purple – Alice Walker
(Remember when I said that I don’t love epistolary novels? This is a major exception. Honestly, the number of list I’ve seen for contenders to the title of The Great American Novel, that don’t include this one is criminal. I also don’t know how so many people read it and don’t realize that it’s going to be dark as fuck.)
53. Charlotte’s Web – EB White
(Sometimes it’s very healing to read children’s novels as an adult. Just sit, and tear through a book in a couple hours. Any of Kate DiCarmello’s books, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen, Coroline, and Charlotte’s Web are all staples for me in that area. Because I read them all, over and over again growing up, and just, being able to go back to them and still find that magic is
 really moving.)
54. Adventures of Sherlock Holmes – Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
(I have the two giant complete annotated edition volumes. The one with the essays. I have broken bookshelves with them. And I got them for $3 at a tag sale when I was so small that I couldn’t carry both of them at the same time.)
55. The Little Prince – Antoine De Saint-Exupery
(This is the book that made me believe that I could write. This book broke my heart. This is a fundamental touchstone in my development as a storyteller.)
56. Watership Down – Richard Adams
(I liked this book. My brother Fucking Loved this book. My father was deeply scarred as a child by this book. I think that’s about the full range.)
57. The Three Musketeers – Alexandre Dumas
(Shoutout to those “Great Illustrated Classics” books that were in every library in the late 90’s/early 00’s. Those things were kickass. I don’t know if I would have read the full version of this one if it wasn’t for the Great Illustrated version I read when I was little. But whoever came up with the idea to just, take classical English literature and tell it exactly the same but in a slightly simplified version for a younger audience was a genius, and they deserve kudos.)
58. Hamlet – William Shakespeare
(I once read a post that opened with “spoilers for Hamlet” and
I don’t know if it’s possible to spoil Hamlet. Like, in America and England at least, it’s kinda baked in. Being alive is a spoiler for Hamlet. Also, can you spoil Hamlet, or is knowing what’s going to happen before it does is kind of part of the modern experience? I don’t know.)
59. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory – Roald Dahl
(I met up with my friends this summer and one of them didn’t realize this book had a sequel. Me and my friend who had also read it then spent the next five or so minutes verbally vague posting about plot points for the Great Glass Elevator to each other, and confusing everyone else, because that book is a fever dream. For that experience alone, I will recommend.)
60. Les Miserables – Victor Hugo
(If I had a nickel for every giant ass brick of a book that I actually did enjoy that included uncomfortable sexualisation of children under the age of 15 and far too much information about a specific city’s sewer system, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.)
How many have you read?

hello cyan!
i've been on a hunt for people's top 10 lists! would you be so kind as to share with me your faves for these? i'd really appreciate it!
a) movies b) shows (anime included) c) games (mobile included) d) books (manga not included :( ) e) music artists
i know it's a lengthy ask but if you would find the time for these, i would appreciate it so much really! <3
q.
Hello Q! I'm sorry it took me so long to respond, you gave me much to think about! Don't know why you collect these answers but I hope you enjoy them!
Some categories were hard to figure out but it was nice trying to remind myself my favorites.
a) top 10 movies
Princess Mononoke (1997) (easy pick, I love this one the most)
Dead Poet Society (1989)
Indiana Jones series (1981-1989) (I can stomach the Crystal Skull but I'd rather not to?)
Lord of The Rings series (2001-2003)
PelĂĆĄky/Cozy Dens (1999) (A Czech movie that literally means Christmas to me - it is a must to watch with my dad on Christmas Eve, the only tradition about that day that I actually enjoy, it's full of czech humour and history)
Noc na Karlơtejně/A Night at Karlstein (1974) (Another Czech movie, or actually a musical that I know all the songs to, seen an adaptation in theatre and it was lit as fuck)
Angélique series (1964-1968) (quite a questionable movie series in terms of sexual themes and women's rights but I do attribute my queer awakening to this character and that needs to wield some weight)
Children of Men (2006)
Batman (2005-2012 Nolan Trilogy)
Isle of Dogs (2018) (the first time I went over to my girlfriend's, we watched this... amazing movie, amazing memory.. amazing girlfriend <3)
Tumblr media
(my practice animation of a Princess Mononoke scene for English class)
b1) top 10 shows (no anime)
(I don't watch that many shows that are not anime so this list is not really most to least favorite - only the top 3 are sorted, the rest is just written out)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (animated, not the Netflix one)
Castlevania
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Game of Thrones
The Boys
Invincible
The 100 (the first few seasons, the ending is insane, me not likey)
Helluva Boss
Arcane
The Umbrella Academy
b2) top 10 shows (only anime)
Wolf's Rain (watched it once years ago... will never watch it again because it causes me anguish, I love it though)
Yuri!! on Ice (it's a once-a-month watch)
Dr. Stone (during exam season I play it on repeat: 1st+2nd season on day 1, Ryuusui Special+3rd season on day 2, repeat!)
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
The 86
Sasaki To Miyano (healing my little gay heart)
Ao No Exorcist (I love the manga and the movie!!! show is just okay)
Death Note
Kimetsu no Yaiba (the first manga I've ever read from start to finish was this one and therefore the show holds a special place in my heart - also the quote on most my sites: "Growing old and dying is the beauty of the fleeting creature called a human being" is from the manga and also hanging on my wall, it's my fave manga panel ever)
SK8 The Infinity
Honorable mentions: Boku No Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Jujutsu Kaisen, Trigun & Trigun Stampede, 91 Days, Bungo Stray Dogs, Black Clover, Gintama, Link Click, Heaven Official's Blessing :)
c) top 10 games
(going to be completely honest...I have not played a single video game before 2019 - my family thinks games cause rotten brains and I agree with that statement, at the same time I love games.. justf FYI I am very inexperienced)
(another note: I LOVE open worlds - I like climbing shit and falling off cliffs, I love going on my own and fighting shit and solving puzzles)
Genshin Impact
Assassin's Creed (I love Brotherhood, have and like 2nd and Odyssey, have but haven't played Syndicate yet, HATE Unity [the controls suck ass], I watched some gameplay of other games, I love the series overall)
Honkai: Star Rail
The Witcher
Tears of Themis (I try and play alot of games like this but they don't have Vyn Richter so what's the point of them really? [insert megamind meme: no vyn richter?])
Minecraft (I like building, and one of my last memories with one of my besties was from multiplayer, I have our last world saved with a mausoleum in the place of his spawn - it keeps precious memories)
NU:Carnival (the fashion is offensively awesome, big inspiration for my character designs sometimes)
Legend of Zelda (sounds and looks like a game I would love but I have yet to experience it on my own)
The Silent Age (first game I owned on my own and played start to finish without anybody else's input, it's very simple and somewhat boring but I like the vibe and I like the independence I felt while playing it)
Destiny 2 (my PC has issues running it but I absolutely love it, also I have like 40 gifs of myself just dancing in this game..)
Tumblr media
d) top 10 books
Krysaƙ/The Ratcatcher by Viktor Dyk (1915) (fell in love with this Czech required reading book during middle school, read it again for high school finals, still love it to this day)
Demian by Hermann Hesse (1919)
Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey - the series has I think 12 books running 2009-2021 but I only have the first 3 (2009-2011) however they deserve to be on this list since I've read them like 13 times)
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan (2015-2017) (I also enjoy his series with egyptian gods but Magnus Chase slayed)
The Inheritance Cycle: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance by Christopher Paolini (2003-2011)
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis (1950-1956)
Lady Pokingham Or They All Do It by allegedly Oscar Wilde (1879) (it's an erotica, a guilty pleasure of mine)
Smrt KrĂĄsnĂœch SrncĆŻ/Death of Beautiful Roebucks by Ota Pavel (1971) (another Czech gem really)
Note to Self by Connor Franta (2017)
Witch Hat Atelier by Kamome Shirahama (2016-present) (I know you said no manga, but it's so beautiful! I even used it as a reference literature to my bachelor thesis - I HAVE to include it!)
e) top 10 music artists
(this list was an absolute struggle, I don't listen to music that much, and since my girlfriend has just such a great taste in music I mostly don't focus on anything and just go along with their recs)
Stray Kids (a remnant of high school days when I listened to alot of kpop - I still listen to some others but Stray Kids are precious to me)
Silverchair (my favorite rock band)
bbno$
Citizen Soldier (some of their music quite literally kept me alive through some rough nights)
Lemon Demon [two trucks holding hands~, two trucks holding hands~, the passion, the passion, is more than I can withstand~~]
Takayan (たかやん)
CORPSE!
Grim Salvo
grandson
Nathan Wagner
I do listen to a lot of anime opening songs, and movie or game soundtracks and also to literally anything you make into nightcore version lmao.
Anyway, that's all I have <3 Thank you for this ask, Q!

5ïžâƒŁ and quotes
Hello, sweet anon! Thank you so much for your ask and for congratulating me! đŸ„°đŸ„°
These were hard to narrow down, but I finally picked my top five favorite quotes. I've put them below the cut since it's a longer post. I hope you enjoy them! ❀
1. "I choose to live, not just exist."
This quote was said by Metallica's lead singer, James Hetfield. He wrote a letter to the Metallica fans and this was written in that letter. Fun fact: I met Metallica on March 11th, 2019, and since James and Lars are my two favorite band members, I asked Lars to write James' quote on a piece of paper. Now, Lars is Danish, and when I had him write this quote for me, I asked him to write it in Danish! He did, and I've since gotten it tattooed on my left forearm. Here are pictures of James' letter, Lars writing the quote on a piece of paper for me, and then my arm.
Tumblr media
2. "Embrace your differences and the qualities about you that you think are weird. Eventually, they're going to be the only things separating you from everyone else."
This one was said by Sebastian Stan, and it really speaks to me because I've never felt like I've really fit in anywhere. I've always been shy and kind of kept to myself and this quote is one I hold near and dear to my heart. Another fun fact: I took my little girl to meet Sebastian last year at New York Comic Con. She proposed to him in her photo op and I filmed the moment she met him during the autograph session. Click here to watch it! ❀
3. "The best kind of love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds."
This is a quote from the movie The Notebook based on the book written by Nicholas Sparks. This is by far my favorite movie of all time, and I've seen it so many times that I can quote it from beginning to end. Yet another fun fact: I'm a former active duty Marine and was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (or MCAS) Cherry Point in Havelock, North Carolina. One year for a charity event, Nicholas Sparks came to our base to sign books and take pictures. I was fortunate enough to meet him and tell him that I named my daughter after a character from the movie. Also, when I married my husband this quote was incorporated into our ceremony. Below is a picture of me meeting Nicholas Sparks.
4. "They say it is the first step that costs the effort. I do not find it so. I am sure I could write unlimited 'first chapters'. I have indeed written many."
Tumblr media
The amazing J.R.R. Tolkien said this one. I am a huge Tolkien fan and have been since I was a little girl. I'm full of fun facts today: My dad used to read me the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy as bedtime stories, and a couple of years ago he gave me his original copies that he bought back in the 1970s. Here's a photo of them.
Tumblr media
5. "You cannot hope to sweep someone else away by the force of your writing until it has been done to you."
One of the greatest writers, Stephen King, said this. Well, he's one of the greatest in my personal opinion anyway. He's been one of my favorite authors for as long as I can remember. I don't have any fun facts about him though, other than my grandma gifted me her entire collection of his works that she collected over the years. đŸ„° One day, I hope to meet him and thank him for inspiring me to want to get my writing out there. I hope one day I become a published author.
Thank you again for asking me this! It was fun to share!

You’re A Good Man, Dominick Carisi
Angst no one asked for... Ooof, yep, it’s a sad one. Inspired by something I saw on twitter foreshadowing the “you’re a good man, Dominick Carisi”
I listened too, “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron while writing this...
Warnings: Major Character Death, Pregnancy, hospitals
WC: 3158
There were a lot of things you could imagine, however this was not one of them.
Sitting in a hospital room with your twins, watching your husband’s body move steadily. Your children weren’t quite too sure what was going on, but Liv was with you the entire time. Talking to your children, trying to help them understand what was going to happen to their father.
You didn’t want to think the unimaginable, so you thought back to all those years ago when you met your husband for the first time. Meeting Dominick Carisi Jr for the first time was something that looked like you’d see in movies or TV shows. You grabbed your husband’s hand and it felt like you went back in time. Before your life was about to change

You went to the local bakery, grabbing a box of goodies to bring to the first day of work. You wanted to make a good impression. These were going to be the people that were going to become your family. You’d pull overtime with, have parties with them, be there for them through the good and the bad.
What you didn’t expect was to run into a tall, handsome man with the most beautiful blue eyes you’d ever seen. While you profusely apologized, he kept shaking his head and apologizing as well. You both sat down in a booth and talked. You had looked at your watch and said, “I have to run to work, it’s my first day. Can’t be late.”
He stood up and helped you out of the booth. You shook hands and your phone started ringing. You said, “I have to go. It was nice meeting you, and I’m sorry about running into you.”
You exited the shop before he could even ask for your phone number.
You were coming off a break up from a relationship of 3 years, deciding that there were no good men left in this world, not after the job you were in and what had happened with your ex. You wanted to get out of there before he asked you for something more.
Your heart was telling you something different though
you walked back into that shop to give him your number, but when you looked at the booth you two sat in, he was gone. Maybe it was too good to be true
Maybe he was the next Ted Bundy and you would’ve been his next victim

However, you went to work and put on a smile for the SVU crew. You were excited, these were an elite group of people and you were about to be one of them. Meeting Lt. Benson, Det. Rollins, and Det. Tutola made you excited.
They asked about your break up. They knew that because you transferred from Brooklyn SVU, and put personal reasons, they knew something must have happened. You told Captain Benson that you were sure there were no good men left in this world. Not after what you saw day in and day out of your jobs. She just looked at you and smiled while saying, “there’s still good men in this world, Y/N.”
But then you heard his voice and you didn’t expect to hear that voice ever again.
You made eye contact with him and immediately his eyes lit up. Benson said, “Detective Carisi, this is our new detective. Detective.”
Sonny cut Benson off immediately saying “Y/N”
Rollins said, “You two know each other?”
You looked at them and then looked at Dominick while smiling, “Um, We just met about a half hour ago.”
You looked at your husband and chuckled. Thinking back 8 years ago, you truly thought that that man could have been a killer. But it worked out in the long run and he had given you the best 8 years of your life, and given you 2 perfect, healthy children.
That was a bonus, while he may be leaving, you were certain to still have a piece of him forever, and you’d see it everyday in your children. The little things they did, certain words they pronounced, even their bright baby blue eyes.
You looked at your wedding ring and looked at Sonny’s. It immediately brought you back to your wedding. Oh, was the wedding one of the best days of your life. You’d rather relive your wedding over and over everyday than be sitting here.

The day was finally here. You were getting married to the man of your dreams. The one who was 1000x better than your ex. You honestly didn’t want to think about your ex on your wedding day but you’re just grateful that you didn’t marry him.
You were getting ready, you had on a stunning white dress that just absolutely suited your body. Dominick had on the traditional black tux that was tight fitting and just worked with his body.
You walking down the aisle immediately brought Dominick to tears. He couldn’t believe that he was going to marry someone as beautiful as you. Every night when he was counting and thanking God for his blessings, he made sure to thank God twice for you. You were everything to him and he was everything to you.
You two started out as partners at SVU, but soon grew to more. You had dated men on and off but deep down, you knew your heart only beat for Dominick. Your wedding day proved it even more.
You two got called together for the first dance and you two started swaying back and forth. He promised that you two would have kids, the minute after teh reception was over, you two would og back to your apartment and start trying for a baby.
He kissed you while saying, “It’s you and me forever, doll. You, me, and our little family that we’re going to create. Little people that are gonna be half me and half you. We’ll grow old, raise some kids, maybe a dog or two, and then be the fun grandparents.”
You kissed him back with so much passion, you two had forgotten that you were in the middle of your first dance. It had become no dancing and more of a little make out session.
It was a sentimental moment that both of you needed, but you had even more fun after the first dance. Having both your families and friends on the dance floor made it even better. Drunk Dominick made it funnier than ever. The way he was dancing, off beat, but dancing with the beers flowing through him. No one ever got to see this Dominick, only you did. You got to see this side of Dominick when he was sober, and that made it even better.
He was dancing and singing to every song, and that wasn’t like him. You were like that, but he wasn’t. But you made him happy just as he made you happy. He didn’t have a care in the world when he kissed you that night.
He kissed you as he made a silent promise that you two were the greatest love story of all time, that he wasn’t going anywhere, he would be right by yourside.
Boy, were you both wrong

You wish you could see him walk through the door one last time. Hell, you were praying that this was all a dream. But, the fact is, he wasn’t going to be coming home with you and his kids.
Liv quietly asked if you were okay and if you needed anything.
You quickly blanked back some tears and just said, “I need some time alone, with him and our children.”
You were going to have to watch the unthinkable happen. Unfortunately it was going to come sooner rather than later. Your children climbed on your lap and your baby girl said, “Daddy’s not going to come home?”
And at that, you absolutely lost it. It felt like just yesterday you told Dominick you were pregnant and here they are. 4 years old and have a personality of their own. They were everything to you and Dominick. Everything you two did, you did it for them.
You wiped away your daughter’s tears and said, “No, daddy’s not going to be coming home, baby girl.”
Your kids started crying and all you could do was hold onto them and try to hold yourself together

Getting pregnant took longer than you thought, but there you were, sitting in the bathroom looking at all 3 pregnancy tests that were all positive.
You were trying to think of all the fun, cheesy ways to tell your husband that you were finally pregnant. But with how perfect your husband is, he comes walking in with flowers and ice cream, knowing you hadn’t felt good the past couple of days.
He walked in and kissed you. Being the detective he was, he knew something was up. He walked into the bathroom and then he stopped. He saw the positive pregnancy tests and picked them up. He turned around and made eye contact with you.
He whispered, “Are these yours?”
You walked over and kissed him. There weren’t many times you’d seen your husband speechless, but this was one of them. There he stood in your shared bedroom, while you whispered, “We’re having a baby, Dom. You’re going to be a Dad.”
You didn’t like hospitals. Too much sadness and death along with it. Yet, you’re in a hospital room with your son, daughter, and your husband who is getting closer and closer to his final breath.
Yeah, you guess you could see why you hate this place.
You were constantly in a hospital, at least once a week. And that’s on a good day. There were always victims. That was your job, to help out everyone. They’re going through traumatic experiences at what might feel like the lowest part of their lives.
While your children started to calm down, they climbed next to their Dad and laid next to him. Putting their tiny heads on his chest, falling asleep to the comfort of what would soon be the last moments they would have with their father.
There was at least one good memory you could associate at hospital with.
A little over 4 years ago
You were sitting in a hospital room with your twins. A beautiful boy and a beautiful girl. Both had gorgeous blue eyes like their father. Seeing Dominick sit on the rocking chair and hold the two precious bundles of joy that were half you and half Dominick. They were perfect. Your little rays of Sunshine.
That’s fitting considering Dominick was your ray of Sunshine. Well, he’ll now be the ray of sunshine that went away. But you weren’t ready to have that thought yet. So you thought back to the best day in the hospital
Dominick moved over to sit on the bed with you, each holding a twin. Labor was hell, but it was damn worth it when you got to see him cut the cords and hold both your kids. He kissed your forehead and then kissed your children’s heads.
You whispered to him, “You’re a good man, Dominick Carisi.”
He’s a good man indeed, and you would never let him forget that, even with the transfer to the DA’s office, he had his doubts. But all because of Wheatley being released, which you couldn’t even imagine was possible after he threatened you, Dominick, and your children in court.
Wheatley was the cause of what would soon be your husband’s death. In the autopsy it was going to say, “cause of death, GSW to abdomen”, but all that meant to you was that Wheatley got to him. And you wanted to do something about it, but couldn’t. Not when you had a family to take care of,
The nurse came in and said, “The meds are going to be wearing off soon, but he won’t have long before.”
You gently woke up your children. You needed them to be awake for what would be the last living moment they would have with their father. It pained your heart to even imagine that you and your children were going to have to go through the rest of your lives without him.
You children slowly saw their Dad wake up. They said, “Daddy!”
He said, “Hi kids. Come
Come here.” You took a picture. This wasn’t a picture you wanted to have or ever imagine you would have to take, but you needed to have it for your kids.
Dom said, “Smile for mommy.” They all smiled and you wiped your tears. This was not a picture moment you needed to have but you were gonna take a selfie. You needed one last family picture because you weren’t ready to give up your perfect family.
Dom said, “Daddy loves you both, so much. I need you to be strong for me.” Your little girl and boy clung onto Dominick and he kissed them both.
This was breaking your heart, just as it was breaking your husband’s heart.
Dom said, “Daddy has to go, but I’m going to be watching you. Everyday. You’re both going to grow big and strong and you’re going to think of me everytime you see the sun. Right?”
Your daughter said, “No, Daddy, please don’t go. Daddy, please.”
You started crying even harder now. Dom looked at you and held out his hand. You grabbed it and he pulled you closer. He held both his kids and kissed them both.
“Say goodbye to Daddy, and tell him how much you love him.”
They hugged Dominick tighter and Dominick started crying. All of you were a mess, you, your children, and your husband. Dominick kissed him and he said, “I love you both very much.”
They said, “I love you too”.
Liv walked in to grab your children and Dom said, “Thank you, for everything.”
She squeezed his hand and said, “No, thank you for everything. You’re a good man, Dominick Carisi. Don’t ever forget that.” Your kids walked out with Liv.
And here was the hardest part...
Dominick looked at you and said, “That was the last time my children will ever see me.”
That had you both sobbing.
“I am so sorry I have to leave you.”
You moved your chair closer to the bed and he started breathing heavily. He grabbed your hand and held it.
He said, “Thank you for being the best wife I could have ever asked for. You’re the best mom our children could ever ask for and I couldn’t be more thankful that you chose me. You let me be the man to spend the rest of your life with, and I’m sorry I’m breaking that.”
Your husband was dying and he still made this about him.
“Don’t make this about you, Dominick. It’s not your fault. Thank you for being the best husband and father to our children.”
“I’m sorry I’m not going to be there for our new baby.”
He put a hand on your stomach and you both were crying.
“Please watch over all of us, Dominick. I mean it. My ray of sunshine.”
You kissed him and he whispered, “My time’s coming doll.”
He kissed you again and you whispered, “You are a good man, Dominick Carisi. You always have been and you always will be.”
You slowly stroked his hair and he whispered, “I love you, Y/N”.
The heart monitor started to flatline and you broke down. You cried on your husband’s body. Your husband was no longer Dominick. Just a memory. His body is just a body. The one you couldn’t imagine dying before you and here you are.
A week later

And here you are now
standing at the cemetery, looking at your husband’s casket.
You laid one last rose on the casket and stood by your children. You put your hand on your son’s head and your other hand on your daughter’s hand. You never thought more in the moment than you did right now. Flashbacks from all those years ago where you met the love of your life at a bakery. How cliche. And here you were getting ready to watch as they lowered his body to the ground.
You said, “Blow kisses to Daddy.”
Your kids grabbed your hand and blew kisses to the casket. You wiped their tears and they ran to Fin and Amanda.
You made a promise to yourself that day. You would make a promise to Dominick too. You would never let your children forget who their father was, how he was a good man. You just had to tell your children that because you never said it enough to Dominick. You thought you had all the time in the world. You wish you did, wish you could have grown old together.
But you couldn’t imagine this

Being so heartbroken that it hurts to see your family. It hurts to see your children crying at the fact they’ll never get to see or talk to their father ever again

But you sure as hell couldn’t imagine telling him this
as you put a hand on his casket and rubbed your only 3 month pregnant stomach saying, “You were a good man, Dominick Carisi Jr. I’ll make sure your children know that, even our baby in 6 months.”
6 months later
After leaving the hospital, you knew you had to go somewhere before you went home. You were holding your third baby that was, again, the perfect combination of you and Sonny.
You brought your three kids to the cemetery. The twins brought pictures to talk about while you sat with your back against his head stone. You said, “It’s about time I properly introduce you to your daughter. She’s beautiful, Dominick.”
Your daughter had opened her eyes and you looked at her. She had those beautiful blue eyes that were definitely her father’s. All your kids had their father’s eyes. You couldn’t be more thankful that she looked exactly like him and your two other kids. You’d always have a piece of him with you. He gave you three beautiful children.
You said, “Hi baby girl. I know you’ve never met your Dad, and you never will, but, this is where we visit him.” The kids sat next to you and your oldest son said, “This is Daddy!” He held up a picture that made you tear up more.
You kissed your childrens’ heads and said, “Your daddy was a great man, there aren’t many in this world, but he was a good one. You were a good man, Dominick Carisi Jr.” You kissed his headstone and were on your way back to your home for the first time with your three children.
You imagined a million different scenarios of your family but the situation you couldn’t imagine was the situation that you were currently in.

Hi hiđŸ–€
I don't remember ever seeing this so I'm glad you sent it again.
I wrote this instead of sleeping with my phone at 3% battery 😅 I hope you like it
...
The trip was their yearly tradition.
They would go to the Matela's summer cottage for a week, just the two of them, and relax in the middle of their hectic lives with swimming and bonfires.
Except this year, the weather decided to not cooperate, rain pouring as they drove to the cottage.
"Rain wasn't in the forecast." Olli muttered.
Tommi nodded, it was true, they had both looked at the weather prediction and with was supposed to be sunny.
In the last few months leading up to the vacation Tommi had dreamed about it being sunny. A bright blue sky and sunlight catching Olli's honey colored hair and making it gold when he finally told him how he felt, how he had felt since they met in school.
But now it was raining and cold and grey, and Olli looked so disappointed as he watched the windshield wipers wick away the drops as they parked.
But he couldn't make it stop raining, as much as he would if he could, and so they grabbed their bags and ran from the car to the front door, getting drenched fast as they got into the cottage.
20 minutes later their bags were in their rooms and they had switched clothes, trying their hair and sitting in the living room.
"Guess we're not going swimming," Olli sighed, "want to watch a movie instead?"
"Yeah, you can pick." Tommi told him.
Olli quickly put on Lord of the Rings and came to sit by Tommi, snuggling into his side; Tommi wrapped his arms around him and pulled him closer.
It had always been like that for them, cuddling on a couch or Olli leaning on his shoulder to sleep, and Tommi wanted nothing more than to call Olli his boyfriend and watching the rain fall.
But it was so different than he thought about asking.
They got through the first movie and Olli pulled away to swap discs to the next movie before staring at him for a moment.
"Hey Tommi, there's something I want to try." Olli told him. "Lay back on the couch."
"Why?" Tommi eyed him suspiciously.
"Just do it, for me please." Olli cajoled.
How could he say no to those puppy eyes?
Tommi laid back, watching Olli wrap a blanket and his shoulders and lay on top of him, cocooning them both.
"This is nice," Olli sighed.
And it was, there was something so perfect about the moment that even if it wasn't what he imagined, it felt right.
"Olli?" Tommi asked softly.
"Hmm?"
"Would... We've know each other so long, have you ever thought about being more?"
Olli was silent.
Just when he was starting to panic Olli exhaled sharply, turning his head up to look at him.
"Every day since I was 17."
It took a few moments for his words to finally sink in.
He raised a hand to Olli's cheek, keeping his face tilted towards his and gave him a long kiss.
They wouldn't have to wait any more.
