I really do love the post talking about Alligators in relation to Randy. How Alligators have one of the most crushing bite, but because they evolved only muscles for clamping down, they can be very very easily muzzled, and how that relates to Randy, how he has a secret bite, how he's been muzzled (willingly).

But we gotta talk about Benson and Giraffes, too. How giraffes are one of the most long lived ruminants because they're built as hyper vigilant cranes with amazing eyesight and a kick that can shatter bone. How adult giraffes rarely need to fear predation because of their size, but only 1 or 2 in 4 of their calves will ever reach adulthood because of their vulnerability. How female giraffes are a social animal and raising their calves is done communally to reduce the risk of the harm of their young.

I think it paints a clear picture of a man who grew into a hyper vigilant adult after not having the protection he needed, who has to be the biggest in the room so he doesn't get hurt again.

Some people focus on the strict 'scared Randy chose the carnivore and explosive Benson chose the herbivore!' but I like the depth of these animals SO much in how they relate to each of them.

fish person lizzie and mezelean joel are just cosplaying the idea of a gendered relationship like theyre playing house. they drew straws for who gets to be the husband and who gets to be the wife.

okay but like NO ACTUALLY like. okay so lizzie DOES have a societal concept of what her role in this relationship should be, she is In Charge. her gender isn’t like… non-existent, it’s that her gender has nothing to do with sex and therefore our word for gender probably isn’t the right word. like, her gender is Queen, and she has translated that into our grammar by using she/her pronouns, if that makes sense. people outside her culture see her as a woman and she’s fine with that because she translates that back to her gender as a Queen. she would be offended if someone treated her as like, a Provider, or worse, someone with Dull Scales. she is not those things; she is a Queen. that’s not a gender in our conception but it’s sort of equivalent right? that’s what I’m imagining is happening there. like, she’s not nonbinary or agender or trans, she’s effectively cis in an alien gender system.

meanwhile, joel Is A Man Who Uses He/Him, because That’s What He Wants To Be. that is his presentation and choice of how to adorn himself. that gender is a way to adorn himself; it’s all performance to joel, sure, but in a society of people who are literally built and painted and then who paint themselves to make themselves individuals in their weird hivemind. it’s one of the only ways they’re individual but it’s a slight against them to deny their choices of adornment. so, he’s a man, because in other languages, gender is a type of adornment, right? and he’s chosen this adornment for how he talks about himself and other people should talk about him with.

so like this is a good thought but what I’m ACTUALLY going for is more like. no listen they both have STRONG options about gender, opinions that are typical for their culture, but they aren’t our opinions. because I think that’s neat!

warning! its been a little while since i played through recom, so the game isnt as fresh in my mind as some others. sorry for any innacuracies!

spoiler alert, this is my second favorite kingdom hearts game. at least of the ones i've played so far. i get that this isn't like. a POPULAR opinion but fuck you i have almost nothing but positives to say about it.

let's start with the easy stuff first. recom introduced a new card-based combat system. i cant compare it to the gba version, since i didn't play that, but i can say that for what its worth i DID enjoy the combat. recom is by far the hardest game so far (at least for me) and almost every boss took multiple days for me to beat, even with my hp maxed out. it took me a while to get the combat system, but id honestly love to replay the game now that i have a better understanding of how it works. the card system requires a lot of quick thinking and i get that it isnt everyones taste but its CERTAINLY mine. every fight is difficult and feels genuinely rewarding when you win. the movement, like kh1, can use a lot of work, but i wouldnt call it terrible. just kinda sluggish. i think my favorite boss fight was larxene. shes a pain in the ass but i love her.

i think riku's side dropping the deck building mechanic isnt terrible, but i wish i could reorder his deck at the very least. and the lack of healing cards is. not fun. basically any damage you take is permanent unless you HAPPEN to get mickey and its simply Not a fun time. im not very good at games okay.

i have a lot less to say about the worlds than the combat. they're definitely the worst aspect of the game, though. the idea of making worlds with cards is fine! it just leads to kind of repetitive world design. the stories are forgettable, so forgettable that i literally forgot them. and i could make a point about how thats the idea its a game all about forgetting things!! but honestly that just making excuses for it. the worlds couldve kept the idea of forgetting things without literally making them forgettable. i say this about every world, except for one. because DESTINY ISLANDS

destiny islands is just. so fucking good in recom. its the climax of both sora and rikus stories and i think theyre both amazing. id have to say i prefer rikus, soley because of the visual storytelling you get from his side of it, and thats not to say soras is bad at all. but something about zexion telling riku that its his fault his home was destroyed, as riku sees a version of himself turning into a literal monster? thats just good okay. its really good.

i ADORE the characters in this game too. everything we get from them is sooo good. it's the introduction to the organization and all of them (except lexaeus who did literally nothing) are a treat. axels my favorite ofc, but larxene is such a fun villain, you love to hate her. shes really the star of the org cast in this game. sure, axels may have said its his show now, but larxene stole the spotlight.

its namines introduction, too, and i love her. on one hand, shes just really kind. she wants a friend, she wants someone to talk to, she wants to meet sora. on the other, shes just a little bit fucked up actually. sure, shes honest with sora, but shes the tiniest little bit guilt trippy and i LOVE THAT. her response to sora saying he wants to get back his own memories and forget her is "oh okay. you want to remember your REAL friends, huh? theyre the ones who REALLY matter to you? yeah anyone would want that. no friends for namine i guess." like shes just a bit salty and we love that for her. i want slightly guilt tripping and salty namine back nomura.

but ofc one of my favorite new characters in this game HAS to be repliku. god i ADORE repliku. his hatred for riku is sooo fun and the way he fights with sora is great too. like in soras side i thought he was a neat villain but rikus side? hes amazing omfg. one of the only villains i liked in rikus story (sorry lexaeus, you werent good until days)

over all, this game certainly isnt everyones cup of tea, but its DEFINITELY mine. it's the game im most excited to replay at some point, mostly because of the amazing boss fights. 9/10. its got issues, but the story and characters are so good that i genuinely could not care less about like. most of them.

- omg this man 😭😭 he is (imo) the best roommate you could ever have.

- he'd probably be super nice when you two first meet and stay that way!!

- he wakes up at a fairly good time too, and if he knows that you're sleeping, he'll try to be as quiet as possible.

- he does his share (and often a little more, if he has time) of the chores consistently.

- kazuha even follows a schedule on when to do certain stuff - he writes it down in a calendar in the kitchen

- he does like to cook when he has some free time, and they don't always turn out amazing but the smell will have your mouth watering.

- his room is super neat!! It's very aesthetic and a little minimalistic, but not overwhelmingly so.

- and it's always clean!!!!!

- he mostly hangs around either in his room or the living room on a couch. Sometimes he'll come into your room, but he always knocks!

- he doesn't mind hanging out with you!! If you're into makeup, he actually likes to go makeup shopping with you and just chill while you pick out some stuff :)

- everyone thinks you're partners when you guys hang out, but kazuha doesn't seem to mind 🤭

- he's a little turd but you still like him, and he gets confused because why haven't you moved out yet????

- he probably spends like 80% of his time away from the house (apartment? wherever you guys live basically), but he still manages to do his chores on time

- HIS EYELINER SKILLS. IK THIS IS A LITTLE IRRELEVANT BUT THEYRE SO GOOD OMFG

- anyways, he really likes watching movies super late at night, so when you join him 20 minutes in with popcorn, it's sort of a bonding time for you two

- he doesn't cook, so he orders takeout a lot... and what really surprised you is that after a week or so of living together, he started to order for both of you because "you were whiny that I didn't get you anything"

- (he actually does it bc he's trying to say thanks for putting up with him :))

- he goes to bed super late and wakes up super late. You have to deal with this by not making ANY noise when you do stuff in the morning or he will be very grumpy for like 2 days (you learned this the hard way 😭)

- on days when he's friendlier, he'll bring you stuff like plushies when he gets back. He'll say that Yae or Yoimiya asked him to give these to you, but you doubt that those two gave you twelve stuffed animals in the span of a month.

xiao (another short one 😭 just like his height)

- I mean... He's okay?? He just sits in his room a lot and I headcanon that he's kinda sorta a gamer so

- he doesn't mind doing chores for you if you can't, but he'll do them a little late because he's like that

- this man SIMPS for Chinese food, like I'm not joking. He doesn't know how to make it, but before moving in w you he searched up Chinese restaurants and that's one of the reasons he moved in lmao

- you guys don't really see much of each other a lot... but you always, always go on grocery trips together. Why? Because he seems to consistently forget the shopping list that you wrote down for him at home, on the kitchen counter, and if you go shopping for him, he complains that you didnt get the things he asked for (but he doesn't write you lists 👀)

- he does have his sweet moments too. If you play videogames, he'll play with you if it's multiplayer. If it's not - no worries, you'll both play it, sitting side-by-side.

- if you're not into videogames though, he does like learning stuff, especially from you. He thinks that you're a good teacher, and even if it's you teaching him how to make coffee (because he doesn't know and wants to learn), he'll keep persevering through it just for you.

- oh boy. Room time.

- his room isn't that bad, if you can look past the giant pile of Monster cans in a trashcan below his desk. It's often dark, with the blinds down, and if you're walking down the hallway, there's a 90% chance that you'll see green led lights shining through the gap beneath his door.

- speaking of his door, it's covered in those signs that say stuff like 'warning! no stupid people beyond this point' or 'dont touch me until I've had my morning Monster'. If you couldn't tell yet, he's obsessed with Monster.

- he streams on twitch, and he's pretty popular, so you'll hear screams of disappointment coming from his room quite often.

- but one sight that you'll never forget is when you went to bring him apple slices (did I mention that he likes apples??), you opened the door to him standing in front of his monitor in a maid dress 😭. According to him, this was a dare that his viewers had him do, and that you better not mention this to anyone!!

- he was so red when he was explaining it though 🤭🤭 you, being the kind soul that you are, swore on your heart to keep it a secret :)

zhongli

- omfg you KNOW this man likes having meals with you. That's such a random thought but hear me out.

- when you eat, he eats with you at the table. Even if you made something only for yourself, he'll whip something up for him and eat with you.

- ANYways he likes to save money so much that his room only consists of a mattress on the floor, a coffee table for a desk, a beanbag in the corner, and a bookshelf that is practically overflowing with books. You take pity on him, of course, and buy him another bookshelf, which he now treasures :)

- probably has a lot of plants around the house/apartment, and he takes care of them as if they were his children. There isn't a day when there isn't a bouquet of flowers sitting on the dinner table.

- if you're allergic to pollen, though, he'll make sure to buy plants, not flowers, like China Dolls or aloe vera or cactuses, whichever you like best 🤭

- he LOVES reading!! Whenever you come downstairs, you'll see him reading, and if you're interested, he'll recommend it or books like it. He does wear reading glasses and he looks really hot in them but don't tell him I said that

- he probably takes forty-minute showers, and the shower is chock-full of hair products. 2-in-1 shampoo?? Zhongli's never heard of it. He may be (nearly) broke, but he takes care of his hair.

- tbh I think he likes to bake bread. Idk if COVID is a thing in the modern au, but if it is, then he was probably one of the people that searched up 'how to make banana/sourdough bread' and fell in love with making it...

- I like to think that he has a nice and neat schedule for each day, and his sleep schedule specifically is so freakin amazing. He goes to sleep at around 9-10, and wakes up at 6am sharp 😭

diluc

- he also likes tea before bed (and any other time of day really). He loves the different scents of the tea and it calms him a lot, so be prepared for a ton of afternoon tea parties with him :D

- ok so we know that Diluc is super rich and stuff but let's just pretend that he roomed w you to save money-

- he works out. A lot. Usually in the morning and around 8pm, and he always goes to this super fancy private gym or whatever.

- and he KNOWS that you go 'ooga booga man titties' mode whenever you see his chest so that bastard is almost always shirtless

- "Diluc why are u shirtless??" "It's hot in here" "...it's like 65 degrees. How tf are you hot"

- no but he's nice though, don't get me wrong. He'll help you do stuff around the house that you can't and he always seems to be there to help. Can't reach something? Diluc's there. Can't open something because it's too heavy? Diluc's got you.

- he'll do chores, just not very well. Can't do the dishes manually at ALL, and if you do have a dishwasher (which he buys on the third day if you don't), he will fall to his knees and thank the gods.

- he has a 10-step skincare routine. His skin is flawless and you are a little jealous, but if you really want to use some of his products, he won't mind :)

- he can cook (but not desserts/pastries lmao). He's super good with the grill, if you want grilled meat or fish or veggies or anything, really. But if you don't want it grilled, he's just as happy to make it using another method!!

- super good at board games, he's especially amazing at monopoly. Nobody can beat him, and he's proud of it >:)

- you've never been in his room for some reason, but you expect that it's very modern and monochrome, with hints of red (obvi).

- he usually has kinda red eyes in the morning, though, and when you asked about it he said that he likes going for night drives, but you were a little suspicious

- you stayed awake one night and you could hear him exit, but no car noises 🤔 you still wonder on what's he's doing so late almost every single night...

- also speaking about cars, the neighbors are always shocked that there's a lamborghini parked outside of your residence (house, apt building, what have you) lmao

- they're always like "do you have a rich bf?? Who is he??" and you're like "nah he's just my roommate :D"

albedo

- this man!!! He's so big brain!!!

- he'll definitely help you with studying for literally anything. Computer science? He got you covered. Bio? Sign him up. Hell, even art? He's super good at it so he won't mind teaching you!

- but when I tell you that he consumes a lot of coffee, it's a LOT. Like 4-5 cups a day. You wonder how, and even if, he sleeps.

- he makes really good coffee too! He bought one of those super cool ones and the coffee he makes is legendary. No wonder he drinks it so often!!

- he barely eats simply because he has so much work, and you essentially have to force him to come downstairs. You make him eat lunch and dinner, and occasionally breakfast if he can. He's super grateful for it, because he sometimes doesn't realize his hunger until he sits down at the table and his stomach growls like a bear-

- he loves classical music, especially Debussy, and it's always playing in his room. You started warming up to it, actually, and now whenever you hear Debussy, you think of Albedo.

- speaking of his room, it's... kinda messy, actually. Think paper and pencils and eraser shavings everywhere. He does clean it up like two times a month, but the papers always reappear within a couple days.

- he really likes art, and he'll hang some of his faves around the house/apartment :) it honestly makes the whole space feel cozier

- does his chores VERY last-minute, but he feels bad about it. You always tell him that it's nothing to worry about, that he still does them, but he insists on trying his best to do them earlier, which you appreciate :D

- he actually uses you as an art reference sometimes, only if you're free for an hour though. He doesn't like paying for models to come in and pose so he saves money by asking you... or at least that's what he says 👀

- your main bonding time is when you go in his room (or vice-versa) and just chill. He likes your company more than he'd like to admit, and you sometimes catch him staring at you from across the room when you're laying on his barely-used bed.

balthus and yuri build him a bunk in Abyss if he wants it and within 4 days hes already moved in and started cleaning up the place. couldnt stand how monastery staff were looking at him post lonato, and hey the assassins down here sure know a lot about how to use a bow. neat

hapi and ashe spending time together being kind of nerdy about things that they feel embarrassed to be weird ant in public. yuri knows and supports their nerdiness by dropping off books and shit but neither has figured it out

candance hyping ashe up being like "no my friend!!! you are just as noble as the rest, your father was a shining example, i believe in you and your ties to him!!!!" like she isnt a therapist but she is w hypeman. and when she gets sad in sunlight hes always there w her umbrella, murmuring similar things but quieter so she doesnt fall into a pit of depression.

balthus bringing ashe out on excursions to do stupid shit, talking to him about girl troubles ("I dunno Balthus, Ingrid's so.. regal and knightly, and I'm just Ashe!" "No no no way, little bro, you're just as knightly! Strong as hell, too!" Cue Balthus grabbing Ashe and nuggie-ing the hell out of him), helping him train his 1v1 skills as well as his bowmanship.

yuri and ashe have a much quieter relationship i think. a lot of quiet support, both ways--yuri complains about some matter he doesnt have time to attend to and he notices randomly that it's been done. ashe shies away from someones ire and they change their mind soon enough. i think it slowly dawns on the both that theyre supporting one another, and they get dinner together to joke about it. but at the end of the day this REALLY feels like one of those friendships where just reading books together quietly is more than enough.

ingrid is, however, not allowed in abyss with ashe. he does have to leave her outside.

extremely rough design observations for deep cut

because im really autistic about splatoon and cant stop studying it. despite not knowing much about character design. yeah.

this is written out badly and some of these are stretches im aware. i just like looking at this trio i think. theyre all connected in some kinda way and i like observing.. anyway.

section 1

basically covers the sort of, flow of their poses? shiver and frye pointing their hands down while big man points his fins up. the way shiver and frye's masks, arms, and legs bend in the opposite direction compared to each other. how their hair is near identical in how it flows off to the viewer's right in the front and to the viewer's left in the back. the use of angles in general. also, a detail about how they all have a translucent element to their design (clothing for shiver+frye, the fins for big man) neat stuff!

section 2

colors, in relation to each other. they all seem to "borrow" colors from each other and its super neat in my opinion (though big man barely has any yellow in his design unfortunately). im sure he'd have more yellow accents if he were more humanoid like inkfish, though. there's also a lot of red accents on shiver and frye, and the accents by their eyes in general are on the opposite sides of each other. i think shiver and frye having more red accents than they wouldve needed on their own is super neat, sort of lets big man fit in more color pallet wise (i think).

shiver and frye are the main subjects of this specific shape language usage. they both have sharp and round elements, but shiver mostly possesses round shapes while frye mostly possesses sharp shapes. using the other sparingly to create contrast in the individual designs and help match them up when put together is great. also, big man has very round shape language, though his design is more simplistic compared to shiver and frye so i didnt look at it as much in that way.

the typical idol branding. the way its implemented into deep cut's designs is typical but super neat in my opinion. i think you could argue a "m" shape is used to identify big man but im not too sure on that so i left it out.

i actually think koncassie are sweet to each other in tt03 but it's like very basic and surface level to me (that's just how johns wrote everyone there though so) and within canon, cassie had something of a celebrity crush for him at first, but there's the issue where cassie looks in the mirror and wishes she was beautiful and wishes kon would stop looking at her as if he only sees her as a sister and nothing more and then they kiss and i was like >_> okay i guess (if we had seen more of this romance from kon's pov i might have bought into it more) and later in tt03 johns writes cassie as if it was a flaw to act so boyish in her youth and while there's nothing wrong with characters growing up and changing it just felt cheap or whateverrr like at least write her realizing she doesn't need to be doing this for a man and only for herself. again, theyre okay to me as a ship on its own and are cute and i joke that kon got domesticated and learned to be a decentish boyfriend i guess (altho i think he was always going to be a loyal bf and the persona from his youth was more of an act). i could enjoy them more maybe in cases where they are presented in a way i find more interesting (such as both having similar journeys in exploring gender, making cassie's stories revolve less around kon or boy drama etc) or outside of canon but personally i also cannot see her with a man </3 koncassie really doesn't do it for me </3

supermartian really only exists within the yja show which i havent watched in over a decade so i can't say much except that i remember being obsessed with them in s1 and then i kinda lost interest and never finished s2

konbart is neat too even if i don't talk about them much either, they also have a lot of canon scenes showing their devotion and support to each other, not to mention the humor in all of yj and dynamic esp during the parts surrounding the apokolips-ish era(the guilt and worry kon felt, associating bart for a chick etc etc). they also have a lot in common origin/character wise (very sci-fi/experiment origins, inertia and match, interesting relationships with adult figures and expectations, both dying, being written off as stupid or immature, etc etc) so i can definitely see the appeal and think theyre also cute. honestly for me it probably just came down to preference and the order i read things in bc if i read yj2019 first or didn't tend towards tim drake/annabeth chase/rose lalonde coded characters i might've had a different main dc ship but theyre neat :)

ofc again these are just my personal opinions and hcs i have nothing against the people who like em (except maybe for the writers of some of these comics)

Okay, but the exciting Willow and jasper murder bonding episode:

They all find out what happened with vee and are properly horrified, and that night Willow goes to sneak out of the house to kill him. She has decided that this man is willing to dissect a child alive and he can't be allowed free but he can't be brought to justice of any kind either without endangering vee or the rest of them. She makes the decision that it has to be done and she won't put this on anyone else's conscience and she also doesn't want anyone to stop her. So she's sneaking out when a voice in the darkness stops her like hm, where are you off to? And shes like ACK totally caught. And she doesn't think to ask why jasper is also lingering about fully dressed at three in the morning, but she is brave and deviant and she stands up straight and tells him the truth. She's going to kill Jacob.

Jasper is like hm. Interesting. Well I suppose murder requires adult supervision, how about I tag along. And she's like ?????? But he is not stopping her so she's like uh. Okay. So they're off on their little adventure. They don't know where he lives so they go to the historical society first to track him down and all that fun stuff, and as they're doing all this theyre chatting away. They talk about hunter and jasper promises not to tell him about her crush and she gets all flustered and embarrassed. He shows her some neat plant magic tricks to like pick a lock with a vine. She misses her dads like hell and he's being A Comforting Paternal Figure and he promises her that he's sure they're fighting with everything they've got to make sure they're still there when she gets back, and that even if they don't know where she is they'll never give up hoping she makes it back. It's all very emotional!

And then of course WHAM! we find our guy. They break in and kick his butt and now he's on the ground and Willow has her staff pointed at him and a hard look in the eyes and she's like okay. Do or die moment. Its time to kill him.

Only for dear jasper to interject, like, are you sure you want to do this? And she's like I have to. And he's like you don't have to do anything. You're choosing to. And she's like but it's the right thing to do! And he says it may be the right thing to be done, but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. And she hesitates and he tells her that once you kill someone, you're different. It changes you. From that moment on you have to live with the fact you have taken someone's life away, that you have been the arbiter of life and death for someone else. You decided their future held no value, that whatever they might have been, good or bad, is gone forever, because of you, and you can't ever take that back. And she's like I know. I can handle it. And he says he knows she can, but that doesn't mean she has to. It's just as hard to walk away as it is to pull the trigger. They're both decisions. And she has to decide who she wants to be, who she wants other people to know she is, what change she wants to put in her heart. Eventually he talks her down and she backs up and says she doesn't want to be a killer. She wants to see the best in people. She wants to believe people can be good, that people can change. Jacob is cowering on the floor begging for his life and she doesn't want to be the kind of person that kills someone in cold blood like that, even if he deserves it.

Jasper says she's very smart and very brave. He looks down at terrified Jacob and says he won't be a problem anymore, right? He knows that if he ever hurts anyone again that there won't be any mercy this time, right? So he's going to be good. And Jacob nods rapidly and says yup uh huh I've turned over a new leaf I am going to be soooo good and jasper says and you're also going to pack a bag, get on a train and never come back to graves field, right? And Jacob is like Yup uh huh whatever you say scary man. And Willow is like visibly relieved because The Adult Is Handling It and he tells her to go home and get back to bed before anyone notices she's gone. He will make sure Jacob leaves town. And she's like okay. Thank you. And she leaves.

And Jacob is sitting up like haha okay. Um. Thanks for that, I-- only for jasper to immediately shoves him back down with a boot to the chest like if you really thought that you could put a little girl in a cage and that I would let you live then you are more stupid than you look. Willow is a good person and she hasn't had to live in a world where she has to sacrifice her innocence for her safety or the safety of those around her. Unfortunately for you, that is not the world I have lived in. A little more blood on my hands won't change me a bit. And we just see the terrified realization on Jacobs face before we cut away with a scream. Dun dun dun.

We fade back in to the hustle and bustle of the Noceda household in the morning, Luz getting ready for school, vee making breakfast, Camila getting ready for work, all the kids laughing and yelling. Jasper walks in and yawns talking about what a good morning run that was, and Willow gives him a grateful smile before she notices like. A splatter of blood on his shoes he missed cleaning up. And you just see her frown like... Not quite sure if that means what she thinks it means, before hunter is like hey, Willow, are you okay? And she's just back to her sunny disposition like pfft! Of course! Now hand me the maple syrup dummy stop hogging it all! Jasper just ruffles vee's hair as he steps past her to grab a box of Cheerios and like. Willow knows. But she's not going to say a word. Cut away to the outside of the house and then cut to black. Ba ba BAHHHH

I'd be fine with him talking about the fucking weather with how you write him. Like, a guy who wants to do good but bad shit keeps happening and it's kinda messing him up, but he's putting on this brave face because yknow, other people need help and comfort too! His relationships with other characters can't be explained with one sentence and that's so GOOD. Paris is great because he has so many layers to his character it's hard to describe him briefly because there's just so much going on inside his head and I want to dissect his thoughts. He's so. So multifacited? I guess is the word? I wanna see how he reacts to everything because he always reacts in such an iinteresting way! mannnnnnnn

FUCK IT im infodumping abt swap au frank lore on here. ive been listening to his playlist a lot today and he wont. leave. my brain.

ok so i know ive shared that frank is canonically dead before but ive got a swap au where. youll never guess. he Isnt /lh

(the gist is just that he survives whereas nick doesnt, and thus takes his place in the story. a Lot of things change cuz frank and nick are Different People !)

ok so,, i Was originally gonna have the main plot points be the same so its still recognizably the same story but tbh. i think gatsby wouldnt die. frank isnt held back by catholic guilt and whatever else is wrong with him (affectionate ofc) i dont think hed let that happen

today ive specifically been thinkin abt chapter 8 and like... frank still leaves for work (he Does still do the "theyre a rotten crowd" bit but he changed his wording cuz hes Different. hed prolly say smth gay like "theyre all ASSHOLES and youre worth the GOD DAMN lot of em" (he swears a lot)) but he comes back like an hour or two later like ".....i changed my mind."

he also Does stop wilson but gets shot in the process,, and gatsbys like "omg old sport are you okay :((" and franks like. bleeding out on the ground like "what do you think pal,,," (he calls ppl pal and buddy. idk where this came from tbh it just feels Right)

idk what happens after that tbh. ive had the thought that gatsby just,, leaves after that but idk. its both hilarious and heartbreaking to think abt frank getting the "happy ending" w him that nick never got to but also like,, its a tragedy. smths gotta happen. frank is very much Not related to daisy that would be Weird. he Does however meet tom at a speakeasy and they like,, kinda hit it off?? tom likes the cut of franks jib and while he does make frank kinda uncomfortable hes like. the closest thing he has to a friend in this new place (and also frank mentions that he knew a guy named nick in the war and tom is like "...i know a nick. hes dead?" and thats how frank gets invited to dinner the next day)

also daisy tries to set up frank and jordan but frank doesnt like to lie and isnt catholic abt being gay so hes just like "listen pal. im sure youre neat and all but im a faggot" and jordans like "oh i know. me too" and now theyre friends<3 besties even<3

AND frank just straight up tells gatsby hes handsome when he sees him. gatsbys all "im gatsby :) i thought you knew im sorry :)" and frank, drunk off his ass on champagne, is like "my god. youre the most beautiful man ive ever seen. i think im going to cry"
