THEODORE NOTT, despite the friends to lovers love trope, could also fit ACADEMIC RIVALS trope like a puzzle piece too.

without sparking feelings of complete distaste and distrust, academic rivals are bonded by skill, pride and competitiveness; something that theodore has in equal amounts — although theo's enviable grades and perfect scores are motivated by survival (due to his father's demands for a flawless scholar path, which is the secret to avoid the man's terrible mood being inflicted on nott's only heir).

nevertheless, an academic rival could be the key to promote a healthier relationship with studying. theo gets terribly anxious when exam weeks approach — and this time, instead of studying for the sake of not fearing stepping foot in the nott manor, theo is fueled by enthusiasm and pettiness. his father's rage is momentarily forgotten, his mind preoccupied with the excitement of seeing your reaction, when he surpasses you this time.

the rivalry sparks a profound interest on theo, who finds someone worth his time. it further hooks theodore's interest if his opponent holds a sassy retort to his sarcasm, and hey, the way to his heart is also by motivating his wit.

being a smart one, theo's competitiveness would keep his mind on you, and benefit his previously toxic and unhealthy relationship with excessive studying.

besdies, it's not like theodore would come to hate his academic rival. it earns a special kind of respect from his side — and who knows, the beginning of an interesting relationship could start on paired assignments and study dates.

similarly, MATTHEO RIDDLE also is a candidate for RIVALRY. not academic, however, since mattheo couldn't give two shits about the letter that evaluates his work, really.

in my opinion, enemies to lovers wouldn't work with mattheo. the moment that he decides that he dislikes or hates someone, it's game over — mattheo isn't open to change opinions, holding a grudge that won't easily be forgotten, with the addiction of rarely giving the benefit of the doubt. he doesn't have the time to potentially change opinions on someone that he doesn't give two shits about.

rivalry, on the other hand, sparks the fire that naturally ignites his veins and pumps necessary adrenaline.

mattheo ridde is fire. burning flames that rise with ease, the fire of impulsivity, unashamed and hard to control. this slytherin is the type who would get a boner from an argument that came from exchanging cheeky words back and forth, hot-headed due to unimportant business. it puts him on edge — and that excites him. cheeky girls give him boners.

enemies involve hate; rivals, however, respect each other to the point of holding the other in a certain consideration. admitting each other as worthy opponents, recognizing the other's skills. rather than fighting over academics, i can see mattheo seeing rivalry in things that interest him — quidditch, for example. if not his favorite sport, then perhaps something a little sillier that gets him competitive nonetheless.

rivalry fuels mattheo to make an effort to prove that he's, somehow, better. better, a feeling that mattheo doesn't get to feel due to an unspoken feeling of... inferiority, underneath the loud anger and pretense of arrogant confidence.

besides, it could be the catalyst to create a sense of protectiveness. like, no—he's the only one who can get those arguments with you, his insults (not as harsh as mattheo's angry responses can be) are an exception. he is the only one who can get less friendly with you — the other ones will think twice before getting aggressive with you, thank you very much.

although LORENZO BERKSHIRE dreams with love at first sight, it's unlikely that it would differ from the flings and short dating he already had with other girls.

that being said, perhaps OPPOSITES ATTRACT could be a potential trope for enzo.

lorenzo needs to be challenged. to get better, to be better, there's a need to have a sort of wake up call, be it forceful or an epiphany of yours truly. being with someone who's so different from him — personality, behavior and mentality wise — would inevitably balance the good and worst sides of him.

be it from the same house as him or not, thinking of lorenzo with a girl who seems initially mean and closed off could interest him. as i've mentioned before: a challenge, for the sake of his ego. then, it's the way he gets to know her better; that the reserved and apparently apathetic first impression is a mask that hides someone who's perhaps shy about having a soft heart. because enzo, for his sweet words and charisma, hides rotten roots that came from an emotionally unsupervised childhood, the core of an envious little boy at heart.

having this balance makes lorenzo work harder on himself. it proves him otherwise, over and over again; enzo gets to slowly abandon the superficiality and pre-concepts he built, upon being given someone who can offer another perspective to enzo.

the differences can clash, but it ultimately washes out as a peaceful understanding. it opens lorenzo's mind in ways he probably didn't think he needed — and the risk of dating someone so different from him, makes lorenzo prioritize a healthy happiness rather than what other people think.

adding the trope that a large majority of us like, i chose DRACO MALFOY to be a candidate of the ENEMIES TO LOVERS trope.

it's hard for draco to admit a rivalry; where theodore and mattheo can respect someone to the point of thinking of them as an equal, draco holds a sense of superiority that attributes a very specific handful of people the privilege of, well, being equal to him in his mind. it's hardly earned.

an example of this is how draco treats his childhood friends, crabbe and goyle, as inferiors. somewhat friends, but lacking a certain sense of respect, worthy but not equal to him. and mind you: crabbe and goyle were pureblood slytherins like draco, so it fit two very demanding boxes of his family's values.

being hard to appease, it doesn't really matter if one doesn't gain his instant respect. the equality he perceives mattheo, theodore and the others with was also earned; first impressions ended up not being everything, and that's why enemies to lovers can work with draco.

the thing is, to be draco malfoy's nemesis earns you a certain obsession from him. perhaps because draco developed under lucius malfoy's constant scrutiny towards everything and everyone, draco has the habit of being negative. negative opinions, negative feelings, negative all around; always a mean thing to say, because his father rarely perceives perfection, directly influencing draco's perception for the sake of agreeing with his dad.

for better or for worse, draco would think more about you than another girl who swarms him. instead of valuing a girl's praise, he might spend more time thinking of ways to annoy you — and your constant presence in his mind is a slow way to his heart, already twisted in confusion and barely digested feelings.

what i mean to say is, due to draco's attitude of rarely perceiving others in a good light, you might benefit from standing out as the person he currently dislikes the most.

it's a hard thing to earn; perhaps, it will further convince draco that you're the one, if you started with hating him — the bad parts were what you knew first, so if you grew to love him, then it proves something. that he's worth it, underneath the ugly parts he wouldn't want to admit to himself.

BLAISE ZABINI was a tricky one. ultimately, he became a candidate for the, and hear me out: FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS trope.

skeptical and practical in romance, blaise grew up with the normalcy of dismissing relationships, love that fades and moves on to another person. and although miss zabini is an amazing woman, the inconsistency of her partners brought skepticalism to blaise: love is an ephemeral thing, short lived, and whatever corny phrase from a romantic book is disagreed with an air of intellectual superiority.

blaise might be the type of person who rationalizes love. butterflies in your stomach? babe, that's a physiological reaction that is everything but romantic. rolling his eyes at sappy quotes, grimacing whenever corny lines are exchanged, blaise heavily judges his friends whenever they get a girlfriend who they swear forever and a day to.

however, it doesn't mean that blaise is a bad partner. no, his lack of romantic perspectives doesn't take the gentleman his mother raised from him — he's a sweet guy, respectful, wouldn't expect nothing from a first date but having a good time. the problem is that blaise doesn't believe in long-term relationships, and that dismissal is perceived as disinterest from his previous girlfriends — leading to the end of the relationship.

and this is why i suggest the friends with benefits to lovers trope. engaging with someone who doesn't demand the sappiness he doesn't have in him, blaise gets to enjoy the physical part with someone who won't expect romance from him.

blaise zabini is a passionate man. anyone enjoys sex and making out, he certainly does for being a physical touch type of guy, but for blaise, it's easy to blur the lines of lust and attraction with a deeper feeling for the person he's sharing the moment with.

being unlabelled could bring a certain kind of realization to him. unlabelled, but finding himself doing sweeter things for you because he wants to — hell, he's a gentleman and he enjoys treating well the people he likes. at the same time, it feels unexpectedly... right, to walk a little more if it means bringing your favorite treat from honeyduke's for you, if he notices that you're having a bad day. slipping homework in your desk, so you'll spend the evening with him instead of worrying about academics.

his persistence of a life's teachings is cold, but the way he treats you is warm. blaise's unconscious hot and cold behavior confuses your situationship — and him, too.

ultimately, the continuous obstacle of not having the privilege of acting like a boyfriend would upset blaise, and persuade him to give a shot to this love thing. without thinking of an expiration date, without wondering when the honeymoon phase will fade.

probably the hardest to attribute a trope to, TOM RIDDLE is the last on this list and, for him, FORCED PROXIMITY is my suggestion.

having a distaste for many, tom can come by as uncaring, even towards the people he holds a certain affection for. unless you bring some sort of advantage or benefit, tom won't find any interest on tolerating you, and even if he did, it's a relationship that begins in rotten roots, possibly growing into poisoned fruits.

forced proximity would be a necessary trope, because it obligates tom to interact with someone without an ill intention, otherwise it wouldn't be attempted nor willing at all. this forced proximity would, even though minimally, make tom getting to know someone better.

there, similarities could be found. some, maybe, could interest him for a short conversation — say, the same interest; dark arts, for example. there are certain topics that tom would be willing to discuss out of curiosity, and that's where his opinion of you could grow into someone he acknowledges rather than another blurry face in the crowd.

disagreements are part of it, too. pushovers are easy to manipulate and twist to his will, but the courage to show a different opinion intrigues him; builds respect, even if it's minimal, it's better than none.

academic rivals could spark interest in tom too, once again, making you stand out in a crowd that disinterests him. tom would value intelligence.

furthermore, grumpy and sunshine is another one i could see happening, maybe. the sunshine can't be overbearing, doesn't have to be a hufflepuff stereotype — simply someone who adds a little color to his dull and gray life. to have someone who brings positive things to tom riddle is a rare thing that he might learn to appreciate.

after all, remember that tom is an orphan who's never known love or proper (positive) attention. a child that grew up feeling unfairly prejudiced, with nothing to own but a lot to prove to himself and the world that surrounds him, the embodiment of good things is appealing.

and like a feline, tom would slowly, but surely, find himself attached to you. as long as you're not looking.

They could’ve also had a ceremony for themselves. 👀 His BF could’ve been the one to offer the idea, wanting to submit to him~. Not exactly giving Mark “control” per se, but surrendering to him. He trusts him to let Mark make every decision for him, to ease the weight of choices off his BF’s shoulders and lead him.

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the dom/sub play in the bedroom (A LOT), but I also adore the stuff outside of it, of it mingling with their normal life. Like, Mark gives his BF/sub a routine to follow (that they both agreed on before going further into initiating into their [technically] new life): his BF wearing the clothes that Mark lays out everyday, Mark preferring to being called “Sir” or “Master” when it’s just them, his BF having his meals prepped that he must eat, Mark making him get rid of unhealthy habits (e.g. adding more healthy foods to his diet, suggesting he needs to sleep more [then once his BF starts making that first step on his own, Mark tries to slowly ease him into a sleep schedule that hopefully and eventually gets added to their mutual agreement of rules], ect), the home being clean when Mark gets back (if they live under the same roof, his BF awaiting at the door before Mark walks in to greet him (perhaps his BF is standing or kneeling 👀).

His BF LOVES rewards. When his BF has been a good boy, Mark pets him and calls him a “good boy” or “my good boy,” and other praises. It’s fast and easy, and something his BF truly relishes. Other rewards can range from Mark permitting his BF to choose an activity for them, such as going to the movies, picking out a movie, or just going out in general anywhere together to have fun. Maybe he asks Mark to even fly them somewhere in the world since that’s easily within Mark’s capabilities. Another can be that Mark bathes his BF. Sometimes, he does this for himself because his BF belongs to him, and Mark believes that part of taking proper care of what he owns is to ensure that’s it’s clean and in proper order, and that includes his BF. These things aren’t ALWAYS rewards, but they often can be. Other rewards can be an extra hour to read, watch TV, play games. Gifting him treats/gifts - Mark usually picks them up all around the world and has them stored away to give. Cuddling. He takes over one of his BF’s usual chores. He fucks his BF in the best way he likes it, for ever how long his BF wants it (that Viltrumite endurance comes in great handy ☝️).

Maybe there’s days when his BF is unable to follow certain rules, and it could range from feeling sick or not doing well emotionally or mentally. In that case, Mark would, ofc, give no punishment whatsoever. He’ll tend to him and take care of him until he feels better. That’s all that matters. 🥹

Theeen, there may be days that his BF purposefully breaks the rules. Him not wearing the shirt Mark laid out? Not putting back Mark’s stuff (collectibles, comics) exactly the way it was after his BF got done borrowing them? Going somewhere without telling Mark first and getting approved? His BF sometimes just wants to see how much he can get away with before his dom cracks that calculating tough guy exterior he always has on.

Mark has him explain (usually in writing) why he disobeyed, in detail. Mark asks that his BF takes time, reflecting on his actions to determine exactly what motivated him, including motivations his BF weren't aware of. Mark discusses this with him and provides his own input because he often notice things his BF doesn’t.

However, if he sees that his BF is continuing to misbehave, he’ll punish him severely on the spot. Mark will get him really gagging for it, spank him, vibe him, specially when he is restrained, put nipple clamps on him, put the wand on his dick. Get him into a situation where his BF is bouncing off the ceiling with lust. Then Mark walks away. It’s evil, but effective, and it always has his BF pleading his apologies and begging for Mark before it’s even over. Later on, his BF can be seen kneeling in front of Mark while he’s sitting down, his head in his thigh, begging for forgiveness and to allow Mark to touch himself. Mark doesn’t let him for that rest of the day.

So the new chapter is out, and I feel that I am much obliged to type out a rant over how beautiful it is despite being short. My heart was filled with admiration, love and passion with this chapter.

The fact that instead of atsushi being his reason to live (which is equally unhealthy as making dazai his purpose) Akutagawa is realising how his reason to live, it's all in him. He doesn't need someone's approval or validation to live anymore, he doesn't need someone's existence to force him into living--he is finally realising that it is him, who is truly worth at the end.

And Atsushi? I have so much to say!

From being the person who wasn't able to let out a single word without fear occupying his lungs, Atsushi was this time able to express his hate and his pain in the scream. "Why us?" This line is so poignant, it can refer to how Atsushi is thinly why people like him and Akutagawa get hurt, how they get abused and there's never a real reason as to why--at the very least there was never a good reason to justify how they have suffered. The question simultaneously faces the situation of Atsushi and his headmaster. Why them? The headmaster loved Atsushi but had to treat him poorly, atsushi wanted his validation but all he ever got were nightmares, why them? Also, Asagiri never fails to show how complex human emotions are. Atsushi hated his headmaster, truly and there's no denying that. But he also loved him as a father, as a child who wanted to feel the warmth of the person he pursued since childhood for once. But now he is finally able to let go of all the pain, no he will never forget it, and neither will the damage will reverse but Atsushi can take a breath and accept it. It won't make living easier, but it surely will make it lighter.

I still can't perfectly articulate the emotions I feel, and apologies if I made grammar mistakes or the likes, I was quite passionate in my rant.

I want to say more but currently I don't have words, perhaps I will post another rant once I end up being able to form words. For now I'll enjoy the fascination I have.

Hey so I hope this is okay to ask as i’m a bit confused and crazy atm. In the WIQYT screenshots going around again about the doc, the last one talks about Dan having self image issues. I was curious if you could possibly help spread some light on the subject maybe? I remember always seeing him posted on the proana blogs back in the day frequently, and even in Dan and Depression he says his lexapro made him “gain loads of weight” but it never seemed like anything visually changed. I know you’re not a mind reader and trying to understand another persons self image is impossible, I guess I just maybe don’t understand where this comes from. I know he used to rag on himself in videos by putting pillows down his shirt to signify that he was chubby as a kid even tho he never was from the pictures available. I’m aware this is very parasocial but I’ve been going through a lot self image wise and he never got to make his documentary where he talks about it and idk. To me, Daniel is lowkey a philosopher and i’m so desperate to hear what he has to say on the subject. Can you think of any times he’s talked about this kind of stuff? (Sorry for this being such a downer anon i just kinda feel like i need to hear about it rn and i don’t know where to look)

like you said, no one knows what goes on inside someones mind especially things like insecurities. but i do think it's two seperate issues that dan has talked about (under the cut for sensitive topics)

i think it's important to remember how society treated weight in the early 00s, obviously it was muuuuch worse for women but boys would also get ridiculed for their weight regardless of their size. i assume that dan did get picked on for being bigger (more than likely he was probably just taller than his classmates but kids just really like generalizing words like "fat" and that sticks in your brain). it was such a shitty time for body acceptance as a whole and he was bullied so much i'm sure people did throw in weight comments just to add to the blow.

and like everything else that's going to stick and then when you're a little older you just repeat this truth that other people told you that "i was a fat kid and fat=bad just like gay=bad so i'm going to agree with them" of course that was suuuuuuper toxic and unhealthy and dan definitely did even more damage peddling casual fatphobia and making insensitive jokes online. but he was pretty openly struggling with his body image from the get go (all the ED comments he made in 2009) and as we know, there's generally another root cause. dan's talked about his self hatred when he was younger (particularly stemming from the bullying and his internalized homophobia) at length and it makes sense that manifested into body dysmorphia the second part is in that screenshot from WIQY he was specifically talking about gay men's beauty standards which is a whole different issue altogether. he's talked a lot about his baby face and how he's felt insecure about his lack of "masculine" features and build. he's talked about how people don't take him seriously because he doesn't look like "a man". there's also the added layer of him being the poster child for ~pretty boy twink~ who's now getting older and aging out of those very rigid beauty standards solely because he's no longer 21. but gay men can be incredibly toxic when it comes to labels and what's attractive (i mean think about the fact that grindr literally has a body type filter so you can exclude whole subsets of people). so he's not saying that he's not attractive or not the general beauty standard, it's that he came out and fell face first into gay standards discourse because he was actively engaging and consuming queer community in a new light

allll of this to say i COMPLETELY get how it can instinctively rub people the wrong way when dan howell, who was famously coined "the hot one" for years and has had people drooling over him his entire adult life, says he's insecure. it can feel like a slap in the face if you don't consider his own struggles but i do think he's self aware and healed enough to know that he's very much within societal beauty standards (tall, straight sized, white, eurocentric features) and has actually benefited greatly in his career because of his looks. and he's unpacked a lot of his fatphobia and has made a point to be vocally body positive even going back to like 2016/2017

The importance of Ada’s backstory

First of all, her backstory is very likely the stem of all her issues seen in Nevermore. She grows overly clingy to the people she likes because Thomas left so often. “I don’t think my heart can take it a second time” HEAVILY implies that he got deployed before, possibly for a long period of time. And since Ada is only the Tamerlane maid, she can’t fully express her love for him in public. We never saw anywhere outside of the bedroom, but based on how Thomas reacts, he’s already in a relationship with someone else. He could be with the other girl for things like money or reputation, and Ada for her body. It would be the best of both worlds for him, especially if nobody found out. Ada wanted to fully love Thomas, to experience true love, but never could. Assuming Thomas ever DID love her, they couldn’t show anything. Plus, that was likely the first relationship Ada experienced. She got used to the unhealthy/abusive (??) nature of it, and it never clicked to her that it wasn’t healthy. She’s been surrounded by these types of relationships for a while.

Now onto how Thomas’ relationship with Ada relates to how she acts in Nevermore. She likely sees Thomas in both Prospero and Montresor. Prospero looks like him and pushes her away the way he did, and Monty doesn’t truly care about Ada and truly reciprocate her feelings. She’s self-damaging herself for the sake of trying to get back what she had while she was alive. She’s doing whatever she can to get some sense of familiarity. Ada doesn’t know everything she’s doing is wrong and/or unhealthy, since it’s really all she knows. There’s definitely a chance that her family life wasn’t the best either, which could lead to a messed up perspective of what relationships should look like. If she had been raised inside a healthy marriage, I doubt she would’ve let Thomas treat her how he did. She was always programmed to think it was okay. Which would also explain why she was okay dating Montresor, even though she previously hated him. Although he was rude to her, again, Ada thought it was normal. She thought that’s how relationships were supposed to be.

(Only “loving” her fully in private/hiding it from others.. ohhhh Ada my shayla…)

Now, explaining the brief death scene. We don’t get much context since it was only two panels, but theres still a lot to unpack from them. If you look at where she was axed, it was right in the stomach area. Ada asks “But why?”, possibly meaning she got brought out there randomly to get killed. The response from who we can assume is Thomas is “Because you gave me no choice”. That mixed with where she was hit leads me to believe she got pregnant. She was only meant to be a maid/mistress, not a mother. And the only way to make sure word didn’t eventually get out that Thomas was the one that got her pregnant was to kill her. Assuming she’s born in the ‘40s (based off of her underwear), most abortions were illegal. She would’ve had to have the baby. Also after the scene we see, she might have been chopped up and buried somewhere in the woods. What proof is there of that? Her spectre. The limbs aren’t fully attached to her body. And it may be too far of a stretch, but Thomas did say he loves “parts of her”. That along with her spectre looks like it has dirt all over it, like she was buried. And it would be a lot easier to bury small parts of a person rather than a full body.

In conclusion, they could never make me hate you Ada Lovelace ☹️🫶

River Water : I think this one is pretty popular and well known. It's an omegaverse with alpha Vander and omega Silco where Viktor is Vander and Silco's bio kids and they reconnect when Viktor and Jayce show up in Zaun after being banished. Lot's of angst and big drama (ie Vander didn't now of Silco's existance) and Zaundads reconnecting maybe to some extent as they watch JayVik also becoming close.

Trapped By A Singlar Fate: Young Zaundads getting togehter story, a very cool approach to Felicia (being a much younger Jinx like little sister type character) and impeccable world building.

Grading on a Curve: Eeeeeee, sexy, funny college AU with jock!Vander and standoffish!Silco.

Please Be Rude: Modern AU: I must have a soft spot for nervous wreck Silco.

The Lightkeeper: Siren!Silco targets the mysterious new lighthouse keeper. Siren!Silco x Werewolf!Vander. I really dig the hints at siren background lore and see above for my soft spot for chaotic wreck Silco. It did take me a couple of chapters to really get into it, but once things heat up between Silco and Vander, I'm definitley there.

this isn't actually on my subscription list, but I have an eye out for them. Some of them are quite new, so I'm still not sure whether they'll be my thing.

This Devotion May Contain Side Effects: yeah, yeah, it's the comments/praise here on tumblr that convinced me to check it out. I like to pretend that fics that focus on dad-ly stuff (in this case Silco and Vander, particularly Silco, taking in and raising orphan Viktor) can't get me, but this one really is as good, though hints of Vander's dark side vis a vis Silco are starting to show up. But it's generally very good and good depiction of the darkness Zaunites have to put up with.

Pinned Under Glass: There seems to be a good season for Silco torture. AU where Silco got captured by an evil enforcer and slowly over years got turned into his pet bride. Vander stumbles across him and is shocked when Silco pretends not to recongnize him. The tags forsee dark stuff but the setup intrigued me.

Falling Downwards Into The Light: Between Lightkeeper, Pinned Under Glass, things like Hound Goes Feral I think I might an unhealthy fondness for captured Silco. Here Vander is the capturer (when an injured Silco drags himself towards the Last Drop after some... business with a chem baron). Vander is quite dark, Silco is very crafty. (it reminded me quite a lot of a similar story by Rimeko) I don't know whether it will end up being too dark for my taste, but so far I'm still reading.

Full House: This author has written some banger Vander/Jayce daddykink. I didn't feel their solo Vander/Silco prequel quite as much, but I have my eye on this. Silco and Vander reunite and imo their chemistry is so thick to me as world weary older men reuniting, even though they are just having a conversation (I might also have a secret fondness for the trope of Vander instantly dumping Jayce the second Silco shows up). I hope I will ike the foursome with JayVik that the tags promise. And I just love the mental image of how Silco has spent his time away as a letter column/agony aunt/sex advice columnist so much.

I wish somebody would write this as a full fledged fic, I feel Silco's agony aunt response letters would be hilarious.

I know it has been nearly a year since the whole thing about Toichi being alive, and I am sorry if anyone said this before let me know and I can delete this, I was just taking a break to engage with the real world, but after rewatching some episodes I decided the only way I will accept this concept, is if they make him the Big Bad. The guy in charge of the Black Organization, as far as I know, is called Renya Karasuma. The earliest I can remember the name being dropped was in the Sunset Manor case with the mansion made out of solid gold. I remembered it because KID disguised as Kogoro. But the point it, he was there. I don't remember if we were told why he was there or on what information was he basing his infiltration on, but it's kinda ""coincidental"" that KID often appears when The Boss is discussed or alluded to in the episodes. This wasn't the only occasion. It is actually kind of a recurrence. Also, we know that Karasuma is in his hundreds at least, and Vermouth's age is unknown either, but she is older than Jody who is in her late-ish twenties (based on how long would it have taken her to become an FBI agent). The apotoxin is an interesting project to be having in a criminal organization even if you spin it as a fluke in a poison-making process, it is still a weird side-effect to have.

A pill that de-ages and seems to have no other adverse effect on the person. Not even mental capacity loss to the level a child's brain would have. And then we have an immortality giving gem also being sought after. And the world does have real magic, as we see with Akako. It is not just supersticion.

Toichi was also suspiciously on time to somehow save Chikage from those men who tried to blackmail her into stealing something. We are told he became a thief for her, which is an interesting impulse from a — presumably until then — law-abiding magician. Plus the skills he had to escape armed members of the organization...

And it is theorized that Chikage was the one to teach him disguise. He somehow came to teach Yukiko and Vermouth and passed on those skills further. How did this arregnement take place? Did he advertize he wanted students? Is that things world-famous magicians do? Doesn't it usually happen by specific tutelage? Wouldn't Yukiko had to have thought him out herself? Where did Sharon come from in that equasion then? Also, in which country did it happen? Did Yukiko move to America? Was Sharon on "vacation" in Japan? Did they track to an unrelated country where Toichi was in that time period just to learn from him?

If Toichi was really helping his wife by redirecting focus to himself, how did he not notice that Vermouth was shady? He was after an organization of people, reportedly. His new student was shady. Both were big name career criminals. Neither of them were careless people. Yukiko was a civilian, it makes sense she didn't know. But these two? On an unrelated note, Vermouth was said to be the Big Boss' favorite.

Also, a little etymology. As we all know anime characters names are all just horrible puns. But this time it is actually pretty funny the kind of coincidences you see. Kaito we all know is a pun on "thief" in Japanese. But it is not just him in that family. Toichi spells his given name like this 盗一 . 盗 means "steal, rob, pilfer" according to a dictionary, and 一 means either "one" as in a numerical or "best in".

A funny name for an internationally wanted thief. A pun from the author, but in-world a funny name to chose for your child. My friend and I actually used to joke that there were an entire dynasty of thieves in the Kuroba family and they just liked to make it subtly obvious.

But that is not the only thing. Kuroba is spelt like this 黒羽, where 黒 means "black" and 羽 means "feathers". Funny when the Big Bad's name is Renya Karasuma. Where Karasuma is spelt like 烏丸 where 烏 means "crow, raven" and 丸 means "circle". And Renya is spelt like 蓮耶 where 蓮 means "lotus" and 耶 means "questioning, question mark, interrogative". The question mark is KID's symbol in the ironic "?" "!" exchange that Toichi and Yusaku came up with. Chikage, for the record, is spelt like this 千影 where 千 means "thousand" and 影 means "shadow, silhouette, phantom", but that is neither here nor there. It could be her real given name or she could have changed her name, because what are the odds that the two best thieves in the world come from the same country and happen to be in the same part of a huge city at the same time? (Half-French Kaito, my beloved, but this isn't about that.) If she did change it, it is also a play on the organization. If she didn't her parents maybe wanted an actor and got a thief. Cursed by a name and all. I know this is all over the place, and I am grasping at straws and probably sound like a conspiracy theorist, but that reveal really destroyed me. The Kaitou Corbeau episode was a betrayal, and I can't even think of what Kaito's mental state was like then under the Poker Face. I saw fics where it was actually Chikage who dressed up like that which, coming from a mother, I would consider a form of psychological torture even playing with your child's trauma like that. So if Toichi does wind up being alive, I hope for nothing less than him being the Main Antagonist of the entire series. I know this is unlikely to happen, given how Karasuma's silhouette was drawn as an old man's and Gosho has proven to not be able to write healthy relationships of any kind (from Kogoro and his hitting of Conan and his alcoholic womanizing tendencies to the abandonment of parents being played as a quirk to the jealousy and dysfunctionality between Shinichi and Ran and other couples being shown as "cute" and many other instances), he will probably have Kaito forgive both Toichi and Chikage, but damn... But well, the Kurobas have proven to be masters of disguise and Vermouth doesn't seem to age, so there's that

I agree with this so much, and i just really hate that most so called simps ( sorry, i try not to be mean spirited and call people fakers, but i am quite tired ) latch onto Dave Miller.

I want to be clear. I personally love Dave. I just hate that the fandom took the comic artist and then made him younger and "sexy-er". A lot of people do what i call a "Daddy-fication". Where they don't really care about the characters personality, they just want an adult male to call Daddy and usually pretty him up by either making him a twink or have abs.

Anyways. Onto the real versions....

Dave Miller, is not a sexy man at all ( or at least not as usually depicted ). He's an exhausted, childish ( quite literally ), and probably Lack Of a Shower man. Not to mention he isn't even a twink! He's an unhealthy ( because of the self experiments ) underweight person!

Also, Dave Miller is an alter ego for a lack of a better term, he isn't even William's true self. William's true self comes out when he wants the Spring Bonnie head on.

And let me remind others that in The Fourth Closet, thats our truest, purest form of William's Personality. He tells Jessica that Dave and Springtrap were just a facade, personalities made up to cover his ass pretty much. He's embarassed by these Personas he's created.

( TLDR ) Dave the childish, ass scratching night guard, Springtrap the High on Agony and Remnant, and William the "i had cringesonas but I'm actually an Evil Scientist".

Movie William ( Steve Raglan ) gets the same "Daddy-ification". But the Personalities are reversed so far.

Steve being the more relaxed "i have everything under control" type ( until he reads Mike's full name ) like Book William, while Movie William is the Childish, not thinking things straight, sweaty type like Dave.

I think this is a very interesting question because we can even know if he had previous relationships? I don't know if you want platonic or romantic, so I will answer vague enough to fit both.

Arcade is a man that wants to be reserved and self-assured. When he first vaguely tells you about his past you can 100% tell he is very mournful of something and I really think its partly him not knowing his place in the world and being incredibly lonely. One of the ways you can recruit him is literally just by being gay and showing interest. That's not someone who is used to having deep, long lasting relationships of any kind. He never mentions friends his age growing up or otherwise and he is honest (once he opens up) about how he is considred too young to be taken seriously by the older remanents when enlisting their help (Imagine like trying to be friends with your much older aunts and uncles who like wiped your ass).

He is desperately trying to find a place and I feel like that applies to being among people as well, I mean he does hide himself in a tent with the followers. When I think of his past relationships I think of fleeting hook-ups or abrupt endings with him often being the one to do the skedaddling or walk of shame to wherever he was residing at the time. I say shame becasue I know he'd want to stay and get close but he's just too scared. It's understandable when 75% of the factions would want you dead due to your family lineage... even if you had no part of their actions. He has so much baggage and hang-ups I don't think he thinks it'd be worth it to unpack that with a friend or lover.

But since your asking what I personally think his fleeting, wasteland relationships were like here's my thoughts:

Most of his relationships (friendships and otherwise) started occurring later in his like, likely his early to mid-twenties. He had seen Enclave remnants be hunted and those who survived did so by staying alone...

His first friend was a wasteland girl who liked how well-read he was. It wasn't so much a traditional friendship but like two people who frequent the same places a lot. He provided the closest thing she was getting to an education and she provided pleasant conversation.

They barely knew anything deeper than each other's names or the topics they discussed but Arcade had never had a non-enclave friend before so it meant everything to him.

She was inspired to get a formal education and do something with her life and thanked Arcade before leaving to go do that. Arcade liked the feeling of helping and sought out ways to do that.

His first kiss is actually how he got into the followers in my head. It was the first chance he took to form a relationship outside the remnants and he wanted to follow him (him as in his lover). He wanted to join a diplomatic Follower group in the NCR and Arcade was terrified of being that close.

Following the last point it was a big blowout fight because Arcade refused to explain why he didn't beyond "Aren't we fine here?" and received a very harsh reading about his inability to open up.

His first actual boyfriend was a king gang member that liked to brag about how he was dating the smartest follower on this side of the wasteland. Arcade felt bad cause he knew he was only dating the guy cause he was crushing on The King at the time and the guy made him feel good with all the praise.

He broke it off under the guise that his work made him feel like he was being neglectful to their relationship and due to the kings' strong sense of duty/principles he understood

Gave Arcade his fav hair comb as a token of no hard feelings and Arcade felt extra bad cause it was like the one real and safe feeling relationship he had and he hated it was built on lies and half-truths.

Hence why he only tells the Courier half-truths, both is too much

After that he made a rule to only have FWBs and casual friends.

This worked as well as you think it did for a man like Arcade.

Most of the people he "dated" (weird coy flirting until he shut them out when they asked something deeper) were all people who wanted to go somewhere with him. He has a deep desire to live, experience and find himself but never has the courage to commit

This explains why you can so easily recruit him with flirting and promising to whisk him away into adventure. (Daddy issues much?)

All his "friends" were either the socially weird Followers who never asked much or people who were passing through and wouldn't question the random guy they hung out with for a bit knows too much about energy weapons or power armor or that old defunct faction that almost killed everyone with evil water... twice.

Silly Headcanons is he loves to rag and joke and is a little shit. He has a chip on his shoulder about how smart he is but he's never a direct jerk about

Not a touchy friend but he clings and hovers around partners and people he has a romantic interest in. Hand brushes, pats, standing close, and wanting to be very involved. Sad but he really wants a connection and even a small sign is enough to make him lose his sensibilities.

He hates it but he knows he's touch and emotionally starved so sometimes he allows himself to get a little lost in the love sauce.

Prefers friends and partners that are a little dumber than him. This has nothing to do with anything, dude is just attracted to idiots platonically or romantically.

This post is long just because I need to explain just how I think these characters think. Arcade is a guy who wants to be gay and own a garden and drink a glass of non-irrated wine with his friends while snarking to his partner. But he's also affliated with violent war crimminals and genocidal factins and settles for just trying to give that life to someone else.
