Pushups

Caleb x gn!reader

summary: You keep Caleb company while he works out and he tries not to go insane.

warnings: none, fluff, yearning, Caleb barley holding it together

There’s grunting underneath you. Up and down, up and down. You’re very comfortably lounging on Caleb's back as he does his pushups. A packet of gummy worms crinkle in your hand, one already hanging out of your mouth.  

“That one didn't go all the way to the ground. And I think your knees bent.” You speak through chewing the gummy. Caleb just lets out a breathy chuckle that turns into a groan as he pushes himself and you up - holding that pose for a few seconds, and going back down. You turn on his back now laying on your stomach, legs draping over his and one arm perched under your cheek keeping your head up. The gummy bag enters Caleb’s vision.

“Want one? Promise I didn't eat all the red.” You bring the bag up.”Well almost. I think.” Your hand sticks into the packet digging for a worm before bringing a red one back round to Caleb's sweaty face. 

“In a min, baby doll.” He huffs, propping on his forearms one at a time holding a plank pose. His head drops down as he breathes heavily through his nose and out his mouth. He loves when you do this, when being near him is not enough and you need to touch him. He feels the same, wanting nothing more than to crawl between your ribs and set up home there. 

He pushes himself back up, you giggle as he goes and pop another gummy or two in your mouth. Up and down, up and down. Your empty hand finds its way carding through the hair on the back of Caleb’s head. He falters but is quick to recover. Nails dig in slightly to his scalp and his skin electrifies. The groan that leaves him this time has nothing to do with his work out. You don’t notice. 

“Hair’s getting longer.” You grab a fist full of his hair and tug gently. Caleb’s going crazy. He needs you to stop, to keep going. To flip you off his back and pin you under him.

He takes a deep breath. “I’ll get it cut tomorrow”. He won't. Not if you keep doing this. He lowers himself back into a plank just so he can rest his forehead against his arms.

Your nails scratch further up his head and slide down near his ear. Caleb’s going to break. He bites his cheek to keep the whimper stuck in his throat. Down your fingers go to the base of his neck before leaving. Hand already back in the gummy bag. Caleb almost screams at the loss of your fingers in his hair but one shuddering inhale later he’s back to his usual pushups, you still laying on his back. He definitely needs a cold shower after this.
