The reason I am once again thinking deeply about vending machines is bc I am currently staying in a hotel and there are signs on each floor where vending machines USED TO BE (I know because the alcove the signs are is still labeled “ice/vending” that says basically “If you want snacks you have to go down to the lobby and interact with a human person,” presumably because they hate me and want me dead. I don’t want to wonder what some concierge thinks of me buying god-knows-what at 11 at night, and I certainly don’t want to be deprived of pushing buttons.

I almost bought a Gatorade at the front desk because I’m thorsty and I’m having trouble swallowing water these last couple of days (don’t, uh, don’t worry about it), but then I remembered that there’s a free coffee/hot chocolate machine in the lobby, so I am having a FREE hot choccy that I didn’t even have to talk to anyone to obtain. So that’s a net win I think.
