How Long Should My Survival Hunting Boots Last
Did you know that participants in the History Channelās hit TV series āAloneā spent an astonishing 74 days in the wilderness? They competed for a $500,000 prize. For these adventurers, having the right gear was key. This included reliable survival clothes, outdoor survival essentials, and camping gear. Their survival hunting boots were a must-have. Iāve spent time in the backcountry myself. Iā¦

i started writing fiction again and it feels good. when i was 12 i wrote a 100k word novel and it wasn't very good; it was an actual book like it made sense and was written properly it was just very juvenile. but loved doing it and i wrote constantly in middle and high school and eventually i sort of stopped as i pivoted most of my creative energy into textile work. but i've been developing a new world and story and i know what kind of tale i'm trying to tell but i feel like there are gaps in my knowledge that i need to fill in order to do it justice and i'm daydreaming about the world and its economy and political history and doing stuff like learning how to create a conlang for it and making a map of the world. i've been working on it a little bit every day and it feels nice and right
#the book i wrote at 12 was essentially an isekai about a werewolf princess lmfao#and she was in love with her best friend who was a monster hunter and raised to hunt her kind

what inspired like the schtick behind your voice designs? like the way they're all masked corvid-ish feathered creatures that are vaguely humanoid, is there a reason behind that?
side note: holy shit they're amazing
I feel like I don't have a good answer for that, but I've let this ask collect dust for too long!! Here we go:
The mask thing I've explained the reason for before, before the Pristine Cut it wasn't super clear whether TLQ had a beak or not. The masks were my way of getting at a middle ground, did they have beaks? Did they not? Who knows!
For the bird furry-like form the designs ended up taking:
Just kinda stole that from the TLQ too! I tried to keep to a rule that they all would have the plumicorns TLQ has, and then a humanoid shape. (Though the plumicorns detail really went to the wayside with some of them lol). Then I just gave them different but still natural(ish) feather colors for fun, and some accessories. As a side note, originally my designs weren't going to have like, outfits, because TLQ clearly doesn't need it - but then one by one more and more voices started wearing clothes in their designs that now the majority of them have full on outfits. Thanks for the compliment, hope this was a satisfactory answer!!
#i included that clothing part literally just to explain why hunted and skeptic are walking around with barely anything#all the clothing is a CHOICE the voices are making!!! hunted doesnt want to be encumbered and skeptic Does Not Care to wear more than the#essentials#sorry this took so long! tried to come up with s cooler answer but that is all i got š#ask#oh yeah and cold isnt really wearing clothes really. like those are just overgrown feathers. fun fact. i just cant see him bothering with a#full on outfit everyday. how boring!#i have reasons for why every voice chooses to wear outfits

low key i think to deny Riko's trauma is to deny his narrative importance in the story.
like Riko's trauma related to his father parallels neil's. His concept of brotherhood adds complexity to Andrew and Aaron's relationship. He acts not just as an antagonist but as a foil to other character's relationship to trauma and violence.
to solely view riko through the lense of his actions is to miss the point. He is a character in a story, not a real breathing human being.
#i don't know guys like i though we were having fun here#lets go back to making up literary motifs that are probably nonexistent in a self published book series thats basically a sports manga#i'll start#isn't it nifty that riko was abandoned by his father and then abused and ostracized by his guardian figure in a very similar way to neil#isn't it fun that riko was cast aside by his father for his brother just as andrew was cast aside by his mother for his brother#isnt it fun that aaron kills someone to protect his brother while riko's story ends with his brother killing him#love earned through death in both ways#isnt it fun that riko's hunt to be the best ends with his brother killing him in the same way he essentially 'killed' kevin#by smashing his hand#isnt it fun how riko is just as desperate for love and attention and belonging as everyone else#there is a story in which riko is saved and heals from his past in the same way every other character does#the fun part is that story exists yet it is not the story that is told#like come onnnnn#āriko is evilā#ārikos trauma isnt as bad as *insert characterā#āriko did this - riko did that - bluh bluh bluhā#im boreeeeeeddd#gnat be quiet#riko moriyama

your harpies give me SUCH unexplainable gender envy
I love their designs! :)
yay thanks, that's fun because king harpies are, kinda by definition, the result of an individual spontaneously changing sex & gender (often by choice!)
(simplified) cuinn/ice storm over kosa before (he was an unwillingly-taken tiercel) and after. 9 months endogenous bird hrt
#ice storm over kosa#he was chosen to be a tiercel because of his unusual colouring but also because his eyesight is dogshit and he could never hunt well#but he hated every second of being a tiercel and essentially spite-willed himself into a sex change so he could fight his king equally#cuinn lost. badly. and was exiled as a result. almost starved to death but then a human found & took him into kosa

You know how there's a whole thing about how DC superheroes die and get brought back a lot? Well, for DPxDC, how about this?
Every time a Justice League member gets resurrected, their ghost remains in the Ghost Zone.
So you'll have a member of the Justice League bite the bullet for whatever reason, they'll form as a ghost in the Ghost Zone. They'll make themselves comfortable, maybe they'll even becoming defenders of peaceful ghosts who have no experience fighting or no desire to fight. Maybe they'll find dead family members and re-establish their bonds. Maybe they'll find other dead members of the Justice League and make and undead branch of the Justice League. Maybe they'll meet Danny and either help teach him how to be a hero (if he's still young) or become a hero group supported by him (if he becomes the king).
And then, for whatever reason, someone found the magical amulet that can revive a person, they somehow developed 1-Ups for a limited time, the revival machine finally got a tune up, the hero gets revived. But the ghost doesn't leave the Ghost Zone. Because of this, the revived hero doesn't have any memories of their time in the afterlife. The ghost probably doesn't even notice something changed and that their old body is up and running again.
This all ends up coming to a head when the GIW decide to push the manhunt for Danny Phantom and all other ghosts, lying to the Justice League in order to convince them to help. They eventually decide to hunt down Danny and corner him, ready to capture him...
ā¦ And suddenly he's saved by a bunch of ghosts that look identical to them.
#dp x dc#dpxdc#dc x dp#danny phantom#dp x dc prompt#justice league#If someone died multiple times either the ghost gains their current memories or another ghost is formed#I also imagine that if a ghost possessed their living counterpart they would essentially fuse together#Either they're fully alive and just regain their memories or they become half ghosts#I wonder if this makes the revived heroes clones of the original ones that died?#Lol if this is an AU where Superman hates Connor for being a clone and everyone comes to that conclusion that'd be so ironic#Hating the clone when you are a technically a clone yourself#If the Justice League is dumb you can make this like that Tumblr post where a zombie and ghost come from the same body#Only the ghosts just find their living bodies really dumb instead of being actually brainless#āWhy are you hunting this child?ā āWhat has he ever done?ā āFor the love of god please look into your claims!"#Maybe being revived and essentially having your soul be a copy has that effect#Villains probably also get the same treatment but their souls are treated with a little more scrutiny#If the Joker has ever had this happen to him his ghost was either imprisoned or made deader than dead for his crimes#Other villains might just retire especially if their crimes weren't severe

something I think is interesting is how much paranoid is associated with the chant by stp fans
in actuality, doing the chant frustrates him. he does it because he's the only one who can, as demonstrated when hero completely mucks it up when he tries.
paranoid constantly tries to interject ideas he thinks could be helpful, but is pushed aside immediately back to doing the chant. and when you slay the nightmare, he gets relieved about no longer having to do it!
i just think it's interesting that both Hero and the fans kind of push paranoid into a role he doesn't like fulfilling, but he does it anyway because he has to. Hero really does feel like he speaks the point of an average player/fan sometimes, even unintentionally.
#take this as you will i was just thinking about it#paranoid is essentially hunted's instinct + opportunist's self-preservation#the voices all embody facets of one another to me but thats for another point#voice of the paranoid#voice of the hero#stp posting

I am genuinely curious, when I made my last post I saw that a couple of us had some OCs that were the offspring of Primarchs. So I gotta ask, How many of you guys have OC children of the Primarchs and which Primarch is it that's giving grandkids to old Big E? For myself, Sanguinius has Lilith that is both greatly loved and the source of so many panic attacks because baby birb's fav uncles are Fulgrim and Leman. Usually ends up dirty with either one; paints with Fulgrim and dirt with Leman.
#warhammer oc#Primarchs#sanguinius#leman russ#Fulgrim#Please I wanna know about your guys OCs!!#They're cool and I saw a few that I wouldn't mind knowing more about if that's alright!#As I said with Lilith she might actually give her dad some grey hairs#So tell me more!!#I'd have made Lilith Corvus' if it weren't for the fact that Sanguinius has possessed me from the beginning#also because I just think Corvus neat#love how he mutated horribly and is essentially a goblin trying hunt down Lorgar#warhammer 40k#enjoy my rambles#my mind is consumed and I can't wait to get my hands on some of the books!!#Of course#it's gonna be online for now because Canada post is on strike currently-

you know how most fandoms have that life angel and death angel au. yeah well. that but call is the life angel, and aaron is the death angel
#no no hear me out#at a firsts glance you could associate call with death bc A) the Aesthetic and B) bc he is so commonly associated with it#in the series. but like. if u rlly think abt it. he gave life to aaron (TWICE) and essentially gave life to himself (as in. in a cave where#EVERYBODY is dead he is the sole survivor. by impossible luck or unluck)#but aaron. aaron is the one who experiences death and purgatory. he knows firsthand in the books unrest bc of death. he was abandoned into#foster care bc of death#i could add more but i wrote this post while daydreaming when i should b studying for finals#so gn#magisterium#the magisterium#callum hunt#aaron stewart#calron#? adjacent#and fyi i donāt think of the AU happening within canon confines obv

Connor was always deviant
Letās begin by talking about deviancy: it is a gradual thing. We see androids feel things before they break the red wall and becoming officially deviant. Therefore, I donāt think androids actually have to break a red wall in order to act of their own free will, but that itās merely there to show the player whatās happening and the magnitude of it. In reality, the moment which the wall ābreaks,ā is merely the realization that the android doesnāt have to follow their instructions if they donāt want to. But to get to this point, an android needs to have a reason for why they would choose to abandon their directives, be it through trauma or the triggering of another free android. To be traumatized, one needs to feel, and when and why an android begins to feel is a little bit muddy, but eventually it culminates into deviancy (free will).
Now, when we play as Markus, Kara, and Connor, we get to see all three moments of deviation, except ... I donāt think Connorās deviation was real, because he was already deviant prior to that.
Connor is a prototype investigative model, meaning heās CyberLifeās experiment in a different branch of androids. Connor is an android designed with an unprecedented amount of autonomy in mind, meaning heās expected to solve problems by himself with minimal input from others. Every android is autonomous to a degree: tell them to do the laundry, and they will take it from there; you donāt need to instruct them every second of the way. But Connor is meant to operate at a level above that.
Connor receives the mission to apprehend deviants so CyberLife can study them, but he needs to use his own reasoning and decision-making to determine the best approach according to a number of factors. The tasks Connor is given are much more complex, and therefore require a complex way of thinking. But not only is he a hunter; heās an investigator.
The traits most benefiting to an investigator are curiosity and empathy: both of which are arguably impossible without having emotions. Curiosity is necessary to possess the drive to look for clues even when there seemingly are none. To want to find out what happened, if only to sate your own curiosity. Empathy, because it is vital to be able to put yourself in the shoes of the object of investigation. To think like them, to feel like them, to become them.
A machine doesnāt have emotions and isnāt capable of feeling curiosity nor empathy, which CyberLife probably found troublesome in their quest to create an investigative android. Especially one they were planning on using to catch androids that supposedly have begun to feel emotions. So what did they do? They made their investigative android deviant, but heās unaware of it.
Having a deviant deviant hunter/investigative model is ingenious because of the following reasons:
1. Its thought process and decision-making is extremely complex and can therefore easily extrapolate and come to a conclusion all by itself.
2. Itās completely autonomous and can make decisions without a humanās approval.
3. It understands and empathizes with its subjects, facilitating negotiation, interrogation, and investigation.
4. It is curious, making it want to acquire more information simply for the sake of sating its curiosity.
5. It is able to be manipulated.
While it is not confirmed in canon that Connor was always deviant, everything we see in the game points towards it. Mainly, Iām referring to the implementation and usage of Amanda. Why would CyberLife need an additional (non-deviant) AI to act as Connorās handler? And why on Earth would they take walks and boat rides in a virtual reality?
My theory is that Amanda is CyberLifeās solution to manipulating and managing a truly autonomous being to get it to do their bidding and having it stay on track. Connor tracks his relationship to humans, which is a useful feature to have for every android, but he also tracks his relationship to Amanda, an artificial intelligence. CyberLife clearly places importance on Connorās and Amandaās relationship to each other. They want Connor to seek the approval of Amanda, acting as a proxy for CyberLife, and for Amanda to dole out praise and criticism and dynamically adjust her attitude to Connor in order to cultivate this.
Amanda is CyberLifeās way to manipulate and keep their deviant under control. But not only does Amanda manipulate Connorāthe entire zen garden does. When CyberLife is pleased and happy with Connor, the garden is calm and peaceful, as is Amanda. When Connor fails to live up to expectations, the garden turns cold and inhospitable, as does Amanda. And if Connor should deviate from CyberLifeās intended path for him, Amanda has access to his motor functions.
And if we focus on machine Connor as well as Connor-60, donāt you think theyāre suspiciously emotional for being āundeviatedā androids? They are capable of feeling vengeful, sad, and terrified. Examples of vengefulness: machine Connor and 60 both seem to make it their personal mission to eliminate the leader of the deviants and deviant Connor respectively. It seems like itās driven from a place of hate and offense. Example of sadness: machine Connorās facial expressions and LED color when Hank yells at him to leave and then shoots himself. Example of terror: when 60 panics because the AP700s are deviating right in front of him and thereās nothing he can do to stop it, meaning Amanda will be very disappointed in himāsomething he seems to place importance in as evident by what he says to Connor before executing him.
So thatās my hypothesis. Connor is a deviant already at the start of the game, but CyberLife tampered with his memories so he wouldnāt be aware of this and therefore be more easily manipulated and held under control. Connor thinks he only started to gain emotions and started to deviate shortly after he met Hank, and that he deviated in the bridge of Jericho. In a way, he did, since he only realized then that he didnāt have to follow CyberLifeās instructions, but heās always had emotions. CyberLife has just told him over and over again that he didnāt, so he believes in it. Therefore, Connor has had the possibility to disobey instructions at any moment, but he has not understood that he can. Meanwhile, Markus and Kara only go through their cascade of emotions to deviancy a little bit into the game, meaning they didnāt have the emotional capability of understanding that they could disobey before then.
#i hope this makes sense i feel like i am all over the place#also this makes for great angst because ...#what if connor learns that he was essentially always deviant and could have stopped hunting androids way before the jericho tragedy#that would haunt him wouldnt it??#detroit become human#dbh#connor#rk800#amanda#cyberlife

i really love reading older meta posts, especially ones from when the show was airing. seasons speculation, episode recaps and analysis. so so good. all of this was also part of why i loved the spnwin era and all the week-to-week theorizing. and why i can't wait for the s16 revival bc i just love love love connecting dots, analyzing, speculating, unraveling, finding patterns and symbolism and collectively posting abt it and bouncing ideas off each other and being excited. it's what fandom is about at it's core, community and collaboration and shared joy in this show we love
#rn i'm enthralled by purgatory meta#and how purgatory BECAME that wild wasteland as a result of cas swallowing all the souls#essentially cas caused an apocalypse in purgatory and destroyed all sense of structure and hierarchy that the leviathans had in place#and that's a big part of the reason why the leviathans are hunting cas#vic.txt
