tell me YOUR undertale thoughts fiore. not even particularly picky about what type of thoughts. maybe why you finally decided to play it and what stuck out to you
LOL hi again Raxz
Its actually not really that interesting or anything to note. I'd say it was undertale yellow that got me playing undertale original but thats not really what happened ( though it's sudden popularity is a contributor, all over on xeeter ) I was initially just buying another game from steam and saw it was just 2 cents and thought, hey, why not. I just happen to have more than that in my wallet, like making a deal with the worlds richest ant♥️ Then I played deltarune and THEN did I play yellow.
I have alot of thoughts on undertale yellow but I don't think anything I have to say someone else hasn't said yet and this is an undertale ORIGINAL ask so just know. It would be a great game by itself but not as a solid undertale game. I dont think it lives up to the writing and humor. which is the highlight of the franchise. I Replayed undertale again for a refresher/to compare.
As for other thoughts... It was just shorter than i expected it to be lmfao not a bad thing but from the impression the fanon gave i just thought itll be a little longer. i didn't expect to like flowey as much as I did. Didn't expect to have it make me laugh either because of it being an older game but it did that too anyway! smile. Having good humour in any game is always one of the ingredients to making something memorable.
Besides that.. ill be honest I think it may be a little too early for me to have any more yet, besides just noticing the game/art design choices Toby made. Like the "bad pixel art" and making things shitty on purpose was an excellent choice because it means theyll be able to focus more on the writing, not because toby just liked it shitty, the shit gave it its charm anyway. Its one of the reasons why it succeeded as much as it did compared to similar indie games that had the opposite. Which usually suffered from being super impressive art and design wise, but the writing being so god awful it's like taking a gun and shooting at what would've been a decent game. Not to say undertale is free of some weak points though, there is definitely some but to me its just that special case where the game itself is just so unique and so "never done before" that i skim pass or never notice it. Most of the bad writing i may need to actually go through the wiki or something to find anyway. Which I don't do as much unless its for like, my version of the souls. Sad! I can easily excuse bad art but if the writing doesn't make up for it its a deal breaker. anyways, thats all, of course as time passes my mind will find somthing to think about soon enough. have two pngs, made in my own kitchen

is kafkaesque a reference to the breaking bad episode or the term meaning that the hair bowl is so absurd it could be similar to Franz Kafka's work ?
Yeah, it's the breaking bad episode! Jesse says 'totally kafkaesque' after hearing a word he doesn't know in a group therapy session, but repeats it back to the group therapy leader because he likes how smart it sounds. "...Yeah. Totally kafkaesque!"
Later on, Jesse speaks to his friends Skinny Pete + Badger in a coffee shop and drops the word casually in conversation to appear smart to them, without even knowing what it means. I love lil consistency gags like that, wanted to pay homage :)

...oh, and i owe you this star png, don't I? enjoy, i found it on google images. It has glitter because frankly, you've earned it. Thank you for humouring me. Thank you for humouring m

re: toxic fanbases. I'm not good at telling what fanbases are toxic. I'm both a doormat ("that rando who started yelling at me all of a sudden probably has a good reason and I'm dumb for not seeing it 👍") and a weirdo who tends to stay within very small circles. With Danganronpa, I feel like there's *something* that makes it a little jarring compared to other communities, although it's by far not the worst community I've personally interacted with.
Its popularity definitely plays a massive role; it's actually impressive to see how active Danganronpa circles remain after all this time, but the downside is that there's a lot of brainrot, distant memories, and most importantly people who've been involved with it for WAY too long. I myself have definitely grown horribly bored of having the same tired debates be brought up time and time again - I can imagine people with a different personality from mine getting very upset over that.
Though I don't feel a connection to that aspect at this time, the prevalent young fanbase also comes with its qualities and flaws.
I could go on, because this community is so large and so old that it's genuinely, like I already mentioned, jarring at times. I'll turn my back from being told DRAE is irredeemable media because it uses dark humour to see someone draw a Komaru with giant tits requesting coitus. There are times when interacting with Danganronpa fans has made me wish I'd just never known about Danganronpa at all, so all things considered, even if I can't put words on it, there's a strong negative aspect to it.
At the same time, I don't know how it being Danganronpa specifically relates to some negative experiences I had - was some of the abuse I endured as a Wiki admin related to the way the DR fandom is? Or did it have to do with Wikis more than it did with DR, with French users more than it did DR? Maybe the problem is that this series has given so many of us such intense brainrot and we can't stop getting involved with it.
Sorry if this long ask is annoying in any way - I figured you might be interested in exploring the conversation around how the DR fandom might come across as toxic, objectively or subjectively OTL
One thing I remember for sure is that when I posted Akudama Drive LGBTQ headcanons, I felt perfectly fine and happy about it - but when I decided to post my Danganronpa headcanons too, I had a strong feeling that I was taking a risk, however small. That's not a very nice feeling to get as an adult who's just trying to be a little happy and silly with PNGs.
Oh, I don't mind a long ask at all! I'm grateful for the detailed thought you put into this, honestly. :) I'm a pretty wordy person myself — you may have noticed.
I think a lot of what you're describing as negatives within the DR community are unfortunate constants with fandoms of ANY popular media these days. Not ALL of it, but....
Every piece of media is gonna be declared irredeemable/offensive/problematic by some parties now if it delves into any kind of darkness or deals with any kind of major crimes, it seems like I've seen more than one person online state — with a straight face, mind you — stuff like "Danganronpa is toxic AF, many of those characters are LITERALLY murderers" and I'm just over here thinking are you fucking serious? I don't remember seeing people say stuff like this in my fandom circles before 2019 or so, but I see it everywhere now. It seems to have grown more prevalent since the 2020s hit? There are people who just can't stand to deal with any moral grayness, any dark theming, etc — and they don't think anyone else should allowed to enjoy that stuff either. (Now I'm wondering whether there are people similarly dismissing Akudama Drive. Much smaller fandom, so maybe you don't see that. But I can imagine someone grumbling "These characters are LITERALLY criminals, wtf." LOL)
We all know Internet Rule 34, but I feel like there are certain built-in multipliers to it that increase how widespread it is. Animated media? That's a multiplier that will cause even MORE porn to exist. Japanese media? That's another multiplier. Which means there's tons of porn of DR characters — even for the teen characters that're underage in most countries like Komaru. At least I've never stumbled across porn of the small children like the Warriors of Hope, THANK FUCKING GOD. I sadly don't doubt that it exists, but I hope to god it remains in a dark corner, out of my goddamn sight.
And I definitely feel much, MUCH more afraid to say anything about LGBTQ headcanons for popular media than I do for relatively small fandoms. Maybe that's partly symptomatic of being American in an era where tolerance and acceptance of LGBTQ people is sliding horiffically backwards? At least I think I'm safter to share such things on Tumblr than I would be on Reddit. I'd be afraid to talk about my personal DR LGBTQ headcanons, too. I've even drafted a post about that once and then been like "You know what? No. I'm not opening myself up to abuse for this," leading me to delete it. I've done similarly for the Madoka Magica fandom as well... too active, too big = too likely to result in blowback. I believe Akudama Drive is a pretty small fandom, though, so it makes sense to me why that'd feel like a more comfortable place to talk LGBTQ concepts.
But with all of that said, I can't claim that the infighting over interpretations of characters and events that I see on the DR Wiki is something that every fandom deals with. Maybe some of them do; honestly, Fandom Wikis weren't really so huge a thing before I got deep into DR in the back half of the 2010s, and I haven't really gotten involved with any of the Fandom Wikis I've come across afterwards either. So I don't know for sure! But it seems like that could be uniquely unpleasant about the DR fandom — the way people define "canon" as a matter of personal interpretation.
Since I'm stuck on the English side of the DR Wiki, I'm not certain whether you deal with the same stuff in the French incarnation. Characters like Komaeda and Ouma are especially difficult to police — they have so many fans who think they are pure of heart, and so many fans who find them loathesomely manipulate, and you can't necessarily be certain what about them is true or false. Put all that together, and it's hard to keep things to "Just The Facts" when people fundamentally disagree on what the facts ARE, which can lead to a lot of infighting among the people editing the thing! God... even deciphering the truth about what's going on in V3 and determining how we should or shouldn't explain that haziness is an awfully sticky wicket all by itself.

I don't engage with the object show community anymore but I learned a lot of important things from there.
this is an important read and i'd suggest, even if you have no idea what i'm talking about, to at least skim it.
i think the best thing the OSC did for me was, by far, reignite and reinforce an interest in tangible creation and taking part in ideas that might not be entirely my own. I learned how to voice act, I learned how to write scripts, I learned how to audio and video edit, I even made entire fucking "animations" (a series of png images lol) for camps. the most valuable skills I learned in content creation that I hope to employ in the future came from group sourced work, where I'd be paid nothing to lend my voice, but I genuinely enjoyed my time doing so. sure, it was all "for exposure", and I wouldn't suggest anyone to do anything for no pay if they're putting countless hours into it, which I did. but this was all under the notion that these were silly projects between friends, and I was volunteering to help. If you've ever seen "Quio", "savingSoliloquy", "alorazoriia", or "c00kiecache" on a voice credits list, you've heard my voice. hell, even working on Battle for the Respect of Roboty was fun at the time, as... awful as it turned out to be. i'd say all of that was worth it. it led to a lot of good things in my future, and will continue benefiting me in times yet to come.
However, I also learned something about being platformed, especially between the ages of 15-16. It's... really fucking hard. i was nowhere near "famous", or a "celebrity", or an "influencer", not by a longshot. but even with my small glimmer of reach, i abused that power without realizing it. i was severely mentally ill and seeking any kind of validation, and my search brought me to a bunch of like-minded people. we ended up feeding off of each other's negativity, bringing each other deeper and deeper into being terrible people, then we were suddenly thrust into the spotlight. I did and said terrible things to this day I think about constantly and regret with every ounce of my soul-- i was vindictive, spiteful, and highly aggressive, with a disgustingly dark and cruel sense of humour. (if you've heard about the OSC squad, I was definitely a proponent and enabler of their toxicity. and also please keep in mind that, although I can't say for certain on everyone, it's been years, and these people have made leaps and bounds in term of improving themselves, myself included.) but it taught me something very important that's stuck with me since the day I realized it: Before you get to know anyone, get to know yourself. if you refuse to get to know yourself, if you refuse to look even an inch below the surface at yourself, your actions, and your thought processes, you're only going to reinforce all the bad ways in which you act. it's never too late to take a good look at yourself and start working towards improving yourself. I'm now comfortable saying I'd be okay with taking the spotlight again, which is why I'm going to try and build an audience on platforms like YouTube. mostly, it's so i can continue giving to the world everything I have to offer, whether or not I succeed in "making it big". as long as one person sees it, i'll be happy. but i encourage anyone, especially younger people, to approach this with extreme caution. attention can bring out the worst parts of yourself, even if it's just in a niche community.
and, too, i learned the other side of this "speaker, audience" dynamic. and as a speaker, how your audience engages with you is highly important. while yes, it is highly important that the speaker does their best to cultivate an audience that's appropriate and respectful (i.e. if your audience is composed of 90% hateful bigots, maybe take a closer look at your content?), i'd say it's also on you, as an audience member, to help inspire and uphold that environment as well. As scary as it is, it only takes one viewer or fan to ruin a content creator's life. It only takes one stalker, one harasser, one doxxer, one person of any nature to drive a real human being to the point of unending fear. and you might not think you're that person, you might not think you're that extreme. but even if you don't ruin their life, it still only takes one person to make someone wildly uncomfortable. this is why i'm so against the shipping of real people and RPF, even if you're talking about someone mega-famous. (and keep in mind two things: consent and intent. consent is by far the most important, obviously, but a lot of people are far more comfortable with this stuff being done as obvious satire than as a real, serious thing.) you might think it's harmless fun. and if all parties genuinely consent to it and continue to uphold that consent, maybe it is. but I know first-hand how fucking awful it is to have it done to you without your full consent. if someone says "yeah, i guess" or "whatever", err on the side of caution. please. these are real people. especially if those real people are minors.
there's so many more things i want to say that would make this post too long to read (and might also crash my phone lol), so I'll just make a quick bullet point list of things I've learned.
unless you were extremely hurt in irreparable ways (for example groomed by an adult or abused), talk to people before making assumptions about them. communicate your problems. if things don't improve, and if you feel other people can be genuinely hurt by this person's actions, only then should you make a callout.
and if the person in question is a minor, especially a young minor, and especially if you yourself are an adult AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A LARGE PLATFORM, don't fucking do it. end of story.
please, always learn from yourself. learn from your mistakes. don't run from them, they'll just snowball.
also please for the love of god learn how to make a proper apology. explicitly state what you did, why you know it was wrong, what you're doing about it, and take a fucking break from the internet. maybe just for a little while. you might think it's useless, but it'll actually do you a lot of good
likewise, don't be a dick to people. this should be common sense, but stirring the pot never resolves issues, and even if the person is entirely in the wrong for what they did, it'll give them ammunition to claim being the victim. don't give them that satisfaction, just block them and move on.
some of this stuff i learned from experience, some of it it i know from observations. this of course isn't exhaustive, nothing here is, but i think hearing these things might be important for sowing the seeds of self-betterment in anyone.
i bring all of this up because the fifth anniversary of BFTROR is coming up this summer. i was 15 when i was helping make it. I'm in my twenties now. it's insane to think about, but to me, it's more insane to not think about. i place great importance on remembering where i came from, how i got here, and how I've changed. i, and my situation, have gotten so much better since then. and to anyone who's currently where I was then, or looking back on a past you who you hate, just look at how far you've come. and you'll continue to grow.
ok peace out

fuck it, ranking all of these
#12
Tumblr media
The filter. The make up. The "Actually... one more time". The fact that it's inspired by that weird Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland remake, down to the stupid fucking "Underland" retcon. The turning of an unrelated joke into a fandom post. The fact that it's the 8th addition to a bit that has long worn out by now. This is the epitome of classic 2010s Tumblr cringe (affectionate).
#11
Tumblr media
12th place was kinda a toss up between this and the last one, but I figured that that one hits harder while this one's just kind of low quality. Most of the others have a decent bit of editing done while this just has the saturation turned up which just makes it look crusty, some flame pngs could have saved this. What really kills this for me though is the the font choice. Really hard to read, it looks like it says "BORN TO BE WOLD", and it just doesn't feel like it fits.
#10
Tumblr media
This is the first of the fandom hats, which were inevitable, but I'm still not a fan of them in the face of what the joke was supposed to be. It's also the 7th hat in the post, at this point the gimmick is really starting to grow tired. You could argue that it doesn't really represent the vibes of the character that well, but that's nitpicking, and it isn't totally off.
#9
Tumblr media
Not bad, but as the 3rd reblog (I think? The early parts of this post have somehow been fucked up by time) and the first non fedora, this is where the floodgates open and you realise exactly the kind of post you're about to witness. Everything from here on out isn't riffing off of OP's joke, it's a continuation of a thread. This post is That's Amore Guy's fault. Whether that's a compliment or an insult is up to you I guess.
#8
Tumblr media
Captures the style it's parodying pretty well, but it fails to stand out in a sea of reblogs. Well made, but not much to comment on.
#7
Tumblr media
Same deal as the last hat, gets a place higher mostly because it was lucky enough to be relatively early in the chain.
#6
Tumblr media
The same joke as the original, but the rose and the shitty poetry are a nice touch. Being the 2nd reblog also helps.
#5
Tumblr media
I know I said I'm not into the fandom additions, but the camera angle on this one is too good to write off. It would have been so easy to just throw in some coins and goombas or whatever, but the use of the Bowser plushie and the dramatic pose and the fireballs make this one genuinely pretty funny.
#4
Tumblr media
One of the less high effort ones, but as the original it doesn't feel like it's part of the one upping contest the others are in, it's a self contained joke, and as a self contained joke it works pretty well.
#3
Tumblr media
A solid punchline and a necessary conclusion. Successfully manages to say "alright, wrap it up, we're done here" while still somehow managing to end this hellpost on a high point.
#2
Tumblr media
Right as the post is about to grow stale it hits us with this. One of the best edited images on the post that really captures the 2015 douchiness so perfectly. And the caption. "Shave your arm hair" next to that face is so fucking funny to me, I don't know what else to say. I just really like this one.
#1
Tumblr media
Many of the hats on this post suffer somewhat from being late additions that come after a long stream of 2010s Tumblr cringe, but this beats out "Shave your arm hair" because of where it is. After three of the worst hats (in my opinion) in a row, this honestly saves the post. Breaking up the barrage of lol wacky 2015 humour with a 'Nam flashback is such an effective gut punch. What really makes this one though is when he takes it off. Everyone else does the same cartoonish blurry jump back while making a stupid face, that's part of what makes the post feel the way it does. He just sits there. Horrified by what he's seen. 10/10, peak cinema.
Are fedoras really that bad?

Update Time! Here’s the July update blog 2023.
Hey everyone! It’s been a while since my last update blog, which I think was months ago. But the last time I was active I streamed my reaction to the last nintendo direct, I was so sleepy that I couldn’t even stop the stream because I kept blabbing about the direct half awake.
Alright. Let’s get to the news.
I want to start off on yout- actually wait.
We gotta talk about this first.
Tumblr media
Twitter decided to become a porn site, sike, I’m just kidding!
But seriously, do I really have anything to say about this? I want to but I don’t. I’m just so speechless that I don’t want to say anything about it. It’s fucking bizarre so I’ll leave it at that for now.
For those new, my personal blog’s are usually very long. If you want a TLDR, I always provide those at the end of the posts, so feel free to scroll through it all!
Alright now. My Youtube channel.
I want to start off with some things to say about my youtube channel.
In some of my streams, I said that I was going to fix a few things regarding my channel.
Tumblr media
My videos have gone on with two type’s of thumbnails, one’s with the default options youtube provides when uploading videos, and some quick editing slapped on a png image/screenshot.
This is going to change soon, as I’ll be making my thumbnails for my videos public posts on my DeviantArt. In other words, each video going forward will have a thumbnail that is basically a deviantart post, 720p artwork posts that I will either hand draw on my art programs or artwork using my mouse to make vector or pixel artwork. The thumbnail’s that do end up being simple edits will still have the full artwork posted.
Here’s a perfect example.
Tumblr media
I posted the artwork used from my thumbnail on my deviantart despite the fact that the artwork shown was hidden within the thumbnail.
Actually the artwork is even shown during the video. So you can expect something like this whenever I make simplistic looking thumbnails, if the thumbnail isn’t done this way then you can expect full handdrawn digital thumbnails with only the most minimal editing possible, text on the thumbnail with maybe an arrow or something.
Another thing about my youtube channel, is that I have plans for videos I want to make that will explain everything you need to know that I will do going forward.
I want to make these videos first.
A video discussing channel rules everyone can expect from me. No, not like rule’s you’d see in school, but guideline’s that every good channel uses.
“Don’t break ToS” “Always be nice to others” “My video’s will contain a lot of unhinged profanity and cringe humour”... Stuff like that.
The video will also be short, like, a minute long, and have my voice as I’ll explain everything.
A video to cover recent news for video game’s. stuff like the new sonic game coming out soon, or whatever bullshit happened to twitter that I mentioned earlier.
And lastly, a youtube video recapping everything. From 2011, to 2023, this video will be over several minute’s long, but similar to the other videos I just discussed.
The next thing I will discuss is important regarding twitch streaming and youtube videos.
The banner I’ve been using is a steam image from rabi ribi. right here.
That will be replaced with a full 4k drawing that will also be posted on my deviantart. The style will look similar to sonic the hedgehog.
My videos and streams currently lack any professional pizazz!  Animations are important and how important that is will be shown very soon. Expect animated title cards, video intro’s and outro’s with full animated drawings and eye catching background editing magic.
My streams will also be littered with animations and characters doing things.
I have just the perfect example, my first comeback youtube video since I created my new channel had this fun animation.
Tumblr media
Now, for the longest time, I’ve always hated this animation... But since people do like it, no matter how simple it seems, I’m ok with it now.
But. I still hate it! It’s not good enough, and doesn’t show my full potential. Soon, this will all change forever. It already has in the past, so get ready for a official comeback.
Tumblr media
Yes, that’s right. Here’s a fumo.
The last thing to discuss is about my smash custom content
If you don’t know what I’m talking about here is the blog post here.
Basically, I have shared mii’s and stage builder’s that I’ve made myself.
I’m well experienced with making mii’s since the wii era, and I put a lot of effort into my custom stages so if you are interested, I recommend checking that out!
I haven’t reposted the code’s for downloading them yet, because I have been thinking and questioning whether I want to make more new mii’s and custom stage’s for the world to see. And so far, I haven’t gotten much but I’m still considering experimenting with what I want to try out first. It will take a while, but the mii’s and stage’s will be back up soon.
To end off this blog post, I have spent the past few week’s playing rpg’s and other game’s for dozens of hours.
I’m not a fan of streaming boring rpg’s that take a long time, so I want to experience those kind of game’s first, before considering streaming and even making videos about them.
Here’s the TLDR;
Twitter is fucking shit. The “X” is a topic I don’t even have words to describe at the moment. Sorry.
New videos coming soon, animations and handdrawn thumbnails are going to be a thing going forward.
Smash customs are coming back soon, I just need to try a few more things first, please bare with me and wait until then.
I spent the past few weeks playing a lot of video games.
As always, thank you for reading this post, and I hope to please everyone in the future when I come back and get some important things done.

Hope your day is nice. Um i saw some of your posts and you seem cool. https://i.ibb.co/FHgPPM9/astro-2gw-darren-marquardt-24316-116785.png I was wondering if you could take a look at my chart and answer a few questions? It would mean alot. If you have seen my chart before its possible I forgot and do apologize.
Which are my main dominant planets in order of strength? Is Jupiter in the 8th or 9th? Does my fire trine or any placements make me attractive or magnetic? Can you tell me which female zodiac combos that could work best with me like sun, moon and rising? Thank
you have leo AND capricorn so hell yes you are attractive and magnetic. people drawn to your looks, personality. you are cold hearted and love dark humour. you're funny and a leader so that makes you very attractive with your leo rising too. i'd say virgo/taurus sun, libra/fire/aquarius rising, fire/scorpio moon would work with you. you're chart ruler is your capricorn sun which makes you very ambitious and smart. you're a BOSS! Your jupiter is in the 8th house.
have a nice day:)

Hey I'm sorry you're having such difficulties right now. I wanted to suggest that you might have BPD (borderline personality disorder). It's an awful name imo that stigmatises people. My siblings and cousin have it, and some of the things you're describing are similar. The diagnosis criteria is having FIVE or more of the following list (sorry this is an url you will have to fill out): i DOT mgur DOT com/4WO63oO DOT png. 1/2
Tumblr media
Thank you for the recommendation and i appreciate it. Im aware BPD is stigmatized
But i dont think i have it.
The symptoms at least that matches the ones i have are
-suicidal thoughts, that arent much in my mind tbh. They happen like once? A month? And it's more about "i dont want to be here right now" than actually wanting to kill myself. I dont want to die.
-unstable self-image; even tho it's not marked, i have low self-esteem, related with my anxiety and depression, most likely impostor syndrome tbh.
-irritability or anxiety during a couple of hours i do have, but again, those are also symptoms for anxiety and depression. Also i dont have them everyday.
-trouble controlling anger. Apart from my anger/rage attack, while i do get irritable very easily, i do know how to control it. Im not always looking for fights, quite the opposite, i try my best to retreat and cool off.
-chronic feeling of emptiness. This one is the only one i have i can 100% say it's the same for BPD but i feel this is related to my depression.
The other symptoms listed on the image you sent me arent as marked or i dont have them. I dont do impulsivity self damaging (self deprecating humour is something i think all of my generation need to work out), i dont do frantic efforts to avoid abandonment (yes, i have mentioned friends that have gone away and it hurt, but i try again, even tho i get nervous, i keep trying with new people), i dont idealize my relationships to a extreme and i dont have extreme disassociation nor stress paranoia.
Now that's how I feel. Maybe i express myself differently and im not noticing. I will try to bring it up tomorrow with my doctor and see what he says.
Thank you again for reaching out, anon.

That's Not How You Spell Circle
In which Maeve attempts to teach her dumbass (ᵈᵘᵐᵇᵃˢˢ ᵇᵉᶦⁿᵍ ᵃᶠᶠᵉᶜᵗᶦᵒⁿᵃᵗᵉ ᵒᶠ ᶜᵒᵘʳˢᵉ) boyfriend how to spell circle.
@dela-png encourages my brain rot part TWO. We had this long convo on how Lucas can’t spell circle and how Maeve would try and help (and it uhh...goes somewhere)
Hi it’s fic recs with Shade. If you want to read another fic with one of Dela’s amazing oc’s and a super fun apprentice check out @arcanecadenza ‘s (if you don’t want me pinging you please let me know! ^^) fic with Donovan here (it’s super cute and well written but be warned her blog gets pretty spicy and she does have another fic with Donny out now too ᶦᵗ'ˢ ˢᵐᵘᵗᵗʸ *ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ ᶜᵒᵘᵍʰ*)
Maeve x Lucas, fluff (actual fluff this time guys my first fluffy fic in this fandom are you proud?), humour, 3.8k words (I CANNOT shut the fuck up OMFG)
TW: none! Tags: fluff, humour, lawd I hope I got Lucas right™️, a little spicy at times but nothing smutty, suggestive, spicy suggestive end, language there is quite a bit of uhh harsh language lol
~~~~
It took her nearly a month to convince Lucas to let her help him learn to write and spell. To say he was stubborn about it would be the understatement of the millennia. Every time she brought it up she would be shut down faster then she could get the words out.
So she resorted to pestering him.
A lot.
Everywhere. Anytime. Anyplace.
In the mornings when they were trying to grasp the last remnants of sleep especially. Usually she could squeak a yes out of him for anything during that time. This time it was always a hard and fast no followed by sweet lingering kisses. While she would not turn her nose up at well placed kisses (good gods Lucas was good with that mouth of his when he wasn’t running it off) she was determined to convince him to let her at least help with spelling.
Once he saw how absolutely serious she was about this whole ordeal he finally broke down and allowed her to help. Granted, she was sure Amani being Amani also had him cracking. Amani was a darling and Maeve was glad they were friends but uhh…
Not much filter on her especially when it came to Lucas. Oooh boy. She would never forget the ‘congrats’ cake Amani baked. It was delicious, sure, but Maeve was sure you could see her and Lucas’s blushing faces from another country.
The point being she finally broke him down and so there they sat in the kitchen, a little bit of fading sunlight leaking through the cracked curtains.
She tried to hide how happy this made her, starting off their lesson. “Okay so I’m going to need to see an example of something you have so I know where we can start,” she started off, sitting across from him.
He blushed a little, fidgeting. She let out a little sigh, fingers tapping on the table lightly. “Mo shíorghrá I can’t do much based on nothing. Do you know the alphabet?”
His face turned redder. “Y-Yes of course I know the alphabet!” he sputtered.
She chuckled, resting her cheek on her fist. “Don’t get testy with me, you haven’t given me much to work off of. Now do you have anything you’ve written?”
“I...uhh have a practice sheet of a menu,” he muttered, not quite meeting her eyes. She could tell where this was going.
“...can you give it to me?”
She could see the paper in his hands, did he have that the entire time? It didn't matter since he had it.
“Promise you won’t laugh?” he asked, eyes flicking up to meet hers.
“Amani has ruined you,” she said with a low sigh, looking at him. “I won’t laugh.” He didn’t seem convinced. She stood, leaning over the table holding out her pinky. “Pinky swear.”
He hooked his pinky through hers, bringing their hands up to his lips. She had to lean a little farther, one of her legs lifting off the ground as he kissed her hand, amused.
“Oh don’t give me that, giant.” There was a low scoff in her voice, he bit her hand gently at the nickname. She knew he hated it. It’s why she used it. “Now hand over the menu idea, the light is wasting away!”
She grabbed the paper he set on the table, falling back into her chair as their pinkies unwrapped from one another. Sometimes she’d forget how big he was in comparison to her. It was always a little shock when they held hands and his enveloped hers.
He always did comment on how cold her hands were. Her response back was usually about how she was the cold one to balance his human heater tendencies (and she didn’t mind him warming her up.)
Relaxing into her chair she looked over the paper.
She had to fight to keep her jaw firmly locked in place.
Good stars above his handwriting. It wasn’t the worst thing she had ever seen in the world, at least it was legible but…
“This is basically chicken-scratch,” she said, voice flat.
The blush fled to the tips of his ears. “I-I know that!”
She inspected the little notes around the paper. His mouth hung open when he saw what she was doing.
One note had her smiling a little to herself. ‘Can I try imitating Maeve’s handwriting? That’s appealing and nice to look at. It’s very pretty.’
“You like my handwriting?” she asked, looking up at him. Looking at the menu ideas closer she could see remnants of her loopy ‘y’s and how she dotted her ‘i’s in the paper. She felt almost honoured in a way.
Of course it needed a bit of work, but it was still sweet.
He coughed, looking away from her. If his face could get any redder it did. “D-Don’t read too much into it.”
She grinned. “Ah I see. You think it’s super pretty but don’t want to say.” His ears grew redder. She took it as a yes. “Okay okay I’ll stop teasing. For now we can focus on some words you’re struggling with spelling and your penmanship.”
She inspected the paper closer. She could tell Amani helped, there weren’t many spelling mistakes. It made her job easier.
Though one stood out to her.
How he spelled ‘circle’.
Sikerl.
“...you spelled ‘circle’ wrong.”
“I did?!”
“It’s umm...not the worst spelling I have ever seen, but we uhh...are gonna have to work on that one.”
He sulked, crossing his arms. She giggled, scooting a sheet of paper in front of him. He took it along with a pen, their fingers brushing. She pulled her hand away before he could lace their hands together and try to get out of it.
She knew his tactics. Not today mister.
“So first off I’m going to show you how to spell it and hopefully you can remember. If not, that’s okay we have all night.” She got to her feet to stretch her arms. It was going to be a while.
He seemed to wilt. “All night?”
“Well unless you have other plans?”
He looked at her, quirking an eyebrow with a little smirk. She narrowed her eyes, setting her hands on her hips.
“Nah ah. Don’t even think about it. You need to spell circle right first. Then we’ll talk.”
He fell back into his chair with a pout.
~~
To say this was going to be a long process would be another understatement.
She stared at the paper in front of her, leaning over his shoulder to give it a once over. “I have never seen ‘circle’ spelled wrong so many times on the same sheet of paper,” she said, dumbfounded. “This has got to be some kind of record.”
She rubbed her eyes, looking over at him. It was getting pretty late.
Lucas, of course, was sulking again. She knew his moods, and sometimes sulking could mean anger.
This was not anger but frustration. Both at circles and her. Probably because she hasn’t let him leave the table other than for bathroom breaks and a little stretch break.
“Can we just end the lesson here and go to bed?” he asked, eyes pleading with her.
She shot him a low glare with no heat. “I know exactly what you’re going to do if I agree and it isn’t sleep.” His face fell, she knew it. “And we aren’t leaving this table until you spell it right at least once. Try again.”
He grumbled to himself as she stood back up. It felt strange having to hunch over to be at eye level with him. Usually it was the other way around.
She still remained over his shoulder, leaning into him a little. She rested her cheek against his back just below his neck, arms wrapping around him. He let out a little grunt at her touch, she smiled a little at the noise. “Oh? Am I being a nuisance?” she asked, voice a little muffled as she shifted her face to bury her nose in his back.
He said nothing in return, but the way he tensed around her was indication enough. If he was going to be grumpy with her she was going to torture him.
When he put his pencil down she looked up, and back at the paper. Her arms remained around his chest, fingers tapping lightly. Driving him up a wall might not be the smartest thing she could do in that very moment but damn was it fun.
“Hm…” she hummed, letting him go to get a better look at the paper. Just by looking at the first few spellings she knew he didn’t get it again.
He noticed her disappointed humming and started moving closer to her, pressing light kisses down the side of her neck.
She almost leaned into the touch. Almost.
As much as she craved the release and his touch she had a job to do. And the number one priority was getting the damn word spelled right.
She shifted away from him, a low whine coming from his throat. “After you spell this right then you can maybe have a treat,” she said with a wink.
He glowered at her, shifting closer. “But you’ve done so much already! Worked yourself to death today, don’t you deserve a break?”
Oh no he was going to compliment her into giving in. Little conniving bastard.
He kissed her neck again, trailing up her skin to her cheek. He kissed the sweet spot behind her ear, tucking her hair behind it as well. She almost melted into him, hands curling into fists.
She turned her head, capturing his lips before he could do any more damage to her resolve. He took it as a victory, surging up to meet her, rising up out of his chair.
She pulled away a moment before, placing her hands on his chest and gently pushing him back down. A little smirk flirted across her lips. “Now that you’ve gotten an idea of what’s planned for you if you get this word spelled right, get back to work.”
He whined, looking back at the paper of mistakes. She giggled, pressing a soft kiss to his temple. “You have some time, and if you don’t get it today there’s always tomorrow.”
He groaned but got back to work.
She waited a bit, walking away to go do something else while she waited. She was in the middle of putting dishes away when he called her back over to check his spelling.
She wouldn’t be embarrassed to admit there was a little extra sway in her step as she walked back over to him.
His arms immediately went around her waist, burying his face in her chest. She sighed, petting his hair.
This was going to take a while.
“Once I look these over we can go to bed.” He unburied his face to give her a look of pure joy. “To sleep.” The look fell and it was back to lip jutting out childish pouting. Sometimes she wondered who was the influence. The kids on the dock or him.
She chuckled, looking at the paper.
“Still no, but we can work on it tomorrow,” she said, scratching his scalp a little. She felt a little bad. She pushed him a little too far. She just wanted to help him but she was starting to get frustrated as well.
Without another word he bundled her into his arms, scooping her off the ground and carried her into their room. She laughed all the while.
It was like he needed to get as far away from the paper as possible, and she didn’t blame him. Spelling was hard, but she was still in disbelief he was struggling this badly with how to spell circle. She had shown him four times.
That night she didn’t let them go farther than a few kisses (much to his dismay, she was going through with the punishment. Until he spelled ‘circle’ right he was getting squat.)
~~
Day two did not go any better than day one.
She sat across the table from him this time. After he muttered about how distracting she was with how she smelled good enough to eat she decided to eliminate that..distraction.
And sat as far away from him as she could.
Well that still flopped because he kept sending her puppy dog eyes from across the table. Not doing anything.
She sighed. “Get four spellings down and I’ll come back over.”
The way he got back to work so quickly reminded her of a dog. She giggled to herself. If she focused hard enough she could almost see the tail wagging behind him.
His eyes flicked up to meet hers. “What?”
She waved him off, smiling to herself. “Oh nothing.”
He squinted at her for a moment before looking back at his paper. When he was done he crooked a finger at her.
She didn’t move from her spot, glaring at him. Oh he was not going to do that to her. “Unless you spelled ‘circle’ right you have no right calling me over like a dog,” she sniffed, getting to her feet.
He set a hand on her knee as she bent over to look at the paper, whispering in her ear. His breath warmed her skin. “Well, for all your whining you sure came to me like one.” She looked at him, offended.
He smirked. Her brows creased with her annoyance. “Well you look like one,” she replied.
His eyebrows shot straight up into his hairline. She turned to go over his paper again. He leaned in closer to her again, kissing the shell of her ear. She had to suppress a shiver.
Bastard.
“And you sound like one.”
She was going to strangle him but first...maybe she’d play his game. Ignoring the paper (with no right spellings, once again. She’d have to show him. Again.) she tilted his head up with one finger. Kissing the side of his face up to his ear she let him sigh.
Trying not to smirk she nibbled on his earlobe. His hand tightened on her leg. She released his earlobe, whispering something with a little extra growl in her voice. “Woof.”
She moved away from him, smiling to herself. He sat there for a moment, with the most dumbstruck expression on his face. Ha, victory.
The moment she looked at his paper though, his arms were around her again and he was tugging her into his lap. She let out a little yelp, arms going around his neck to keep from tipping over off the chair. “That’s not fair,” he muttered to her neck.
She snorted, trying to move to see his paper again. He didn’t budge, so she was as good as stuck for a while. “I don’t play fair, you know this.”
“Yeah but won’t you take mercy on your poor, tired, love-of-your-life?” he asked, the puppy dog eyes making a return. When he leaned in to kiss her again she placed her hands over his mouth.
“And you call me a dog,” she scoffed, wiggling a little in his grasp. His thigh jerked under her. “Now lemme go you big lug. You’ve still got to spell ‘circle’ right.”
“Do I have to?”
“Yes!” she wheezed, pushing his face as she tried to break free of his grip. He wasn’t going to let her go that easily. She let out a ‘hmph’ and twisted around. “Fine. If you won’t let me go I’ll just check from here.”
He didn’t argue with her from there, a small victory on her part. Maybe it was better if Amani taught him. At least then he wouldn’t have any distractions.
Granted he might be dead by the time she was done. Hmmm...there were pros and cons to having Amani help. Her eyes flicked over each of the spellings. None were right. But one was close at least.
Sirkel
Serkol
Sickle
Circel
“Hmm wow the last one is close!” she said with a smile, looking at him over her shoulder. His eyes lit up. “You just got to switch two of the letters. And let me go.” She wiggled again, pushing at his arms.
“So I just switch two letters and I’m free to go?”
“Mmhmm! If they’re the right ones of course.”
He looked determined and finally released her. She scrambled away before he could draw her back into him. As much as she appreciated sitting on his lap now was not the time.
“Two letters! Got it!” he said, scrawling out the word on the paper.
He pushed it over to her, pride seeping into his face. She smiled, humming a little looking at the paper again.
“...uhh…”
Cricel
“It’s worse.”
“What do you mean it’s worse?! I did what you told me to!”
“Yeah but you swapped the wrong letters!”
“You told me to swap two of the letters!”
“Yeah not the wrong ones! I told you not to swap the wrong ones!”
He grumbled. “This is stupid. Circles are stupid. Writing is stupid.”
“Next up we work on your vocabulary.”
He shot her a low glare. It held no heat but it made her giggle.
“Shaddup,” he muttered. She kissed his cheek, still giggling to herself.
“Here I’ll show you how to spell it again and then you can go.” She leaned over again, not paying attention to where she was leaning and what was in his direct line of sight.
She kept her pen work neat (sometimes when moving fast her handwriting looked nothing more than scribbles), keeping all the loops she now knew he liked. When she looked over at him again she realized her mistake.
Quickly (quicker than she thought he could move) he scooped her up again, kissing her face. She let out a squeal, trying to get out of his grip again.
“L-L-L-L-LUCAS!” she gasped through her laughter, trying to escape again.
“Mmmfph no I’m done,” he said, voice muffled. “No more circles. They’re evil.”
She snorted, putting her palms on his cheeks to push him away. His lips puckered as she pressed his face together. She leaned in closer. “I spelled it on the paper. I showed you how to spell it. I can try and help you remember it so I’m gonna need you to try again.”
His brows creased. She sighed. “Please.”
“Fwmine.” He couldn’t really talk with her hands on his face.
“And let me go.”
“Nwo.”
She rolled her eyes, releasing his face and resigned to her fate. He wrote out ‘circle’ so fast she could barely comprehend what was happening before he lifted her up off the chair. “There. Now I’m done.”
“But I need to-”
“Done. I am done.”
He kissed her neck, lifting her up with his hands on her upper thighs. She sighed, wrapping her arms around his neck as she got used to being carried. “You do know we have to do this all over again tomorrow to make sure you remember how to spell it, right?”
He howled in pain.
~~
Day three at the very least, went better than day two and day one.
Mostly because she gave him the proper motivation after cock-blocking him again the night before.
She rubbed her temples. “So now, what did we learn yesterday?” she asked, sitting on the table next to him.
“Um the tub is too small for the both of us?”
She cracked an eye open. He wasn’t wrong. Most of the water ended up on the floor. It was a mess to clean up. “Yes that and you should learn to keep your hands to yourself. You haven’t earned anything just yet mister struggling to spell circle on day three. But that’s not what I meant.”
His lip jutted out again as he pouted. “Yeah yeah. Circle is not spelled how I’ve been spelling it. I get it.”
“Mmmhmm.” She hummed, stretching her arms above her head. “But that’s okay circle is spelled really stupidly, but!” she started, dropping her hands to braid her hair over her shoulder as she spoke. “I’m going to give you proper motivation so we can finally move on to something different.”
Curiosity sparked in his eyes. She smiled, humming a little as she swung her legs. “I’m going to give you a few tries to spell it. Five tries to be exact. Spell it wrong every time and you’re sleeping on the floor.”
“What?! That’s not fair!”
She tsked. “Motivation M’fhíorghrá, motivation.”
“...and if I spell it right?”
She looked up. “Hmm...haven’t thought that far.”
“...such confidence in me, I’m honoured.”
She snorted. “I haven’t thought of something you’d want.”
His eyes flicked over her form. She felt her cheeks warm.“I can think of something.”
She stuck her tongue out. “Oh hush you. Get to work now.”
He grumbled, but looked back down at the paper. The first few times he got it wrong. When he was on his fourth try she started to get exasperated.
He kept looking at her hair. “You know that’s an invitation to ruin, right?” he asked. She touched the braid snaking around her shoulder, letting out a raspberry like sigh.
“Yes I do. And if you don’t fucking spell ‘circle’ right you’re gonna suffer knowing you couldn’t ruin it while sleeping on the floor.” She mostly muttered it to herself, it slipping out with her frustration.
He spelled it wrong again.
She let out a low sigh, rubbing the bridge of her nose. Three days. Maybe she wasn’t as good as a teacher as she thought? Or maybe it was just them goofing around.
Even so she was tired and she knew he was as well. “Lucas I swear to the goddess above I will let you fuck me on this table if you can spell it right once. I know we both hate this, because circles are dumb. But we really should be doing other things.”
He froze in place, slowly turning his head to look at her. His voice was low and husky. “Is that a promise?”
She rolled her eyes, leaning back a little keeping her balance by hooking her hands under the table. She kicked her legs a little, looking up at the ceiling. “I swear I will, just spell it right!”
He moved fast, pausing to think for a moment. When he finished, she checked over the page with a flourish. He groaned as she took her sweet time, fearing for the worst.
She was going to draw it out for a while but… “You spelled it right!” she said with a cheer, forgetting her filter. Dang it.
There were many emotions flying across his face at once.
From relief, to joy, to something else.
She swallowed a little as his eyes darkened a little and he smiled. “I do remember a promise,” he said, getting to his feet. Even when she was standing he towered over her.
But since she was sitting on their kitchen table, he was like a colossus. He nudged her legs apart, standing between them. He leaned in closer and she leaned back away from him, falling onto the table. He placed his hands on either side of her face.
“You promised,” he reminded her once again, a little song seeping into his voice.
She swallowed again, knowing her freckles were glowing brighter at those two words. Heat sparked in her stomach, a blush dusting her cheeks. He knew what those meant and his smile grew absolutely wolfish.
After a moment she smiled as well, running her hands through his hair. It was soft and messy. She tugged on a knot, making him sink into her touch. She lifted her hips to brush his.
“I do go through with my promises.”
Your Re;Dollars edits are so clean! Can I ask what program do you use for it?
(Well isn’t that a pisser, I accidentally backed out of my tab and *POOF* my entire response just up and left me for an alternate version of myself in a timestream where I’m not a clumsy idiot.)Welcome to the updated version of my response! Response 2.0 (patch notes: fixed the user-error bug)
Firstly, thank you so much for your compliment! I try my best to make sure my lines are clean and precise and satisfy my perfectionist side, so it’s nice to hear that my work is appreciated! (O´▽`o)Secondly...
Programs I Use:PaperScan: fairly robust while user-friendly; allows you to adjust the dpi, brightness and contrast, quality, etc. with ease. It’s free—unless you want to pay for a commercial version.My procedure is morally sound...I liberally abuse give my manga and LNs a dignified purpose in life, bless them with my love, and give them that worn-in badge of honour! ♡( ` ∇ ´ ) ♡Carefully, I ease their spine, delicately press them against the scanner, provide firm pressure while I apologise profusely (not lying), and then blind the hell out of them! (An aside, I take a low temp hairdryer to the spine, lightly soften the glue, and lay them underneath a heavy book afterwards. It keeps them fairly in good condition.) Settings are a trial and error depending on your scanner and laptop, so have fun with that. ᓀ ωᓀ;
Photoshop: unfortunately, this abhorrently overpriced program is my primary resource, since I was so kindly gifted a version way back when Adobe didn’t have a yearly subscription. So this might not be as useful unless you already own it. Regardless, there are similar programs that function much in the same fashion, as I’m sure you know.Here I adjust the white and black levels; blanch out the page texture, flatten and darken the black outlines while in greyscale. I clean up the line art with the paintbrush if it’s simple, the polygonal tool for cutting out fuzzy edges, sometimes use layer masks so I can add or subtract areas from the original image, and if I did a good job scanning and adjusting the levels I can cut the white out of the background to get the lineart on its own (ctrl+alt+2; it’s a handy shortcut). Blahblah, there’s more steps for colouring but that’s not what you’re asking... *looks up* though the rest of this fluff was part of your query either...
ibisPaint: AND last but not least...I use this app on my Android phone for those times that I need to edit things quickly, or (like I did with my most recent Izaya edit) when I can’t sleep a wink and randomly futz with the screentone and manga style filters for shiggles.For a simple app it’s got a lot of Photoshop-esque features and has really interesting functions; you can zoom and turn the canvas which is hella nice for someone like me with clumsy fingers (see above, lol) and so you can cut out all those pesky extraneous pixels down to the line. Not to mention you can save as jpg, png, and adjust the quality and dpi and resize and...well... I’m impressed by it, to say the least.Anyhoo, I apologise for this monstrous response. *bows* Hopefully, my humour didn’t muddle the information and you got what you needed. ('∇' ;)ゞ Feel free to DM me if you have any questions, and this goes to anyone else reading this, you don’t need to hide behind an anon, I promise I don’t bite! ♡
Papyrus is Probably a Better Boyfriend than Sans (Part 2)
←Previous (Part 2 of 5) Next →
(Note: Studies on how humans choose mates are conducted mainly on hetero couples, so this post’s claims, based on those studies, may not hold for non-hetero relationships. See Introduction for disclaimers.)
Men and women consistently value a "sense of humor" in a relationship partner. Though the definition differs among the two, according to this study women define it as ‘someone who makes me laugh.’
Sans' lighthearted demeanor and tendency to joke, pun, and prank almost all the time may make him seem very attractive as a boyfriend, and more so than Papyrus. However, that's forgetting one crucial detail: Papyrus also says funny things.1 Not only does he pun (more than Sans, in sheer numbers) but his puns/wordplay is more creative: Sans himself knows that his jokes are bad.
One should consider the purpose of Sans' humor attempts, as well. As lefthanded-sans' analysis shows, the purpose of Sans' humor can be neatly wrapped into one theme: "it's to troll others."
Tumblr media
As defined by lefthanded-sans in the previously mentioned post, trolling is: “Screwing around with another individual in an attempt to confound and especially frustrate them.” Though Papyrus is frequently frustrated by Sans' trolling, he hasn't moved out to avoid it, suggesting he’s built up some tolerance to it. (perhaps simply due to growing up with Sans) Yet, short of statistically improbable tolerance or mellowness, Sans' trolling, if persistent, is likely to prove detrimental to romantic relationships.2 (Indeed, some of Sans' trolling attempts are, essentially, lying, and dishonesty is a known dealbreaker for relationships.)
This is especially true for major life stressors. A study that analyzed the marriages of 60 couples found that, in couples that had a major life stressor such as a death in the family, the husband's use of humor during problem solving was a warning sign. Such couples were more likely to end up divorced or separated within 18 months than in couples where the male did not use humor. The result may be about men knowing when and how to crack the tension with a joke.
Adding to this, if a man uses humor in a teasing or put-down way, or at an inappropriate time, it can be harmful to the relationship. According to lefthanded-sans, “[Sans] constantly teases Papyrus because he knows Papyrus will throw a fit or have some other amusing response.” It’s true siblings treat each other differently than they would love interests, but Sans doesn’t exclusively tease his brother: that he teases Frisk too suggests he’d tease other people as well. Though it’s plausible Sans might lower the frequency of general trolling-motivated behaviors for a love interest, it’s such a persistent trait for him it’s very unlikely he’d eliminate it entirely for a love interest with a low tolerance for it.3
Tumblr media
.
Furthermore, while Sans isn't lighthearted and jokey for the whole game, he doesn't act serious for long, and apparently easily flips between serious and laid-back approaches. In contrast, Papyrus knows when to drop the humor. He acts serious when the situation warrants it, such as when giving a report to Undyne.
Therefore, Sans’ inclination to humor may actually be a bad thing for a romantic relationship, due to his motives and methods.4 It’s not that Papyrus cannot possibly be mean-spirited, emotionally hurtful, or frustrating in humor attempts, but that doing so is much less typical of him than for Sans. Thus, humor-wise, Papyrus is probably a better boyfriend than Sans.
Some of his funny dialogue may be unintentionally funny, such as: "I WISH I HAD EIGHT LEGS... SO I COULD WEAR FOUR PAIRS OF HOTPANTS." For dialogue like this, it's hard to tell whether it's a joke or a sincere Cloud Cuckoolander-like statement. Someone laughing at an odd statement meant to be sincere might be hurtful to a relationship, but probably not for Papyrus, since he has a lot of faith in others and doesn't seem to register insults to himself. ↩︎
This is especially true because some of his trolling is, essentially, lying, and dishonesty is a dealbreaker. ↩︎
This article, suggests teasing may actually be good for a romantic relationship under certain contexts. However, the findings are hard to interpret, as there isn't a condensed version of the article. ↩︎
In a playable segment of the fan work The Anomaly, which takes place twelve years after the Pacifist ending, Toriel and Sans apparently dated at some point. As of the present day of the comic, it didn't work out, possibly due to Sans' motives and methods in telling jokes/trolling. ↩︎
Yuzuha: An international, perfect comedienne, it’s Yuzuha!
Tumblr media
Rio: Yay! Like a carnival full of excitement, it’s me, Rio~!
Miharu: I’m Miharu...and I'm starting to feel a little out of place here...
Manager: Thank you for coming, everyone.
Aya: Why these five?
Manager: They’re the only people I could get a hold of, since it’s right before the live and all...
Tumblr media
Maika: No need to worry. I’m more than enough on my own. We won’t need anyone else.
Manager: You’re rather confident.
Maika: Leave it to me. I’ll have Aya-san roaring with laughter. Rolling on the floor with tears running down her face and everything.
Manager: Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now...
Maika: I’ve prepared a party joke for Aya-san today.
Manager: A party joke?
Maika: That’s right. A cheeky little party joke! For people with a little more grown-up sense of humour.
Aya: Well then, let’s hear it.
Tumblr media
Maika: A man said to his friend, “I’m about to have a baby.”
Maika: His friend says, “Congratulations!” But then, the man’s face grows dark.
Maika: “What’s the matter?” “The thing is, there’s a bit of a problem.” “A problem?” “Yeah...”
Maika: “I haven’t told my wife yet.”
Tumblr media
Aya: ...
Maika: Huh?
Manager: Got anything else?
Maika: Nope. I was sure that was gonna be a one-hit KO.
Manager: Then, thank you very much... Next up, Shiho.
Shiho: Right.
Maika: She’s a tougher nut to crack than I thought, hey.
Maika steps off.
Tumblr media
Shiho: I think this should get you laughing...
Aya: What do you have in store, Shiho?
Shiho: This is a true story, about a funeral I was at the other day.
Manager: A true story, huh...
Shiho: There was a transfer student from a small country in Africa, and it was their first time attending a funeral here in Japan.
Manager: Sounds interesting.
Shiho: So that fellow didn’t know how to burn the incense for the offering. So they thought, why not watch the person in front and see how they do it. [1]
Shiho: However, that fellow couldn’t see much over the person’s back. So when it was their turn, they still didn’t really know what to do.
Manager: So what happened?
Shiho: So they did what they thought they saw the other person do...and put the incense in their mouth.
Manager: Ehh?!
Shiho: And then they choked and coughed out the ashes. The ashes landed right on the back of the monk’s head while he was chanting the sutra.
Manager: Wow!
Tumblr media
Aya: ...
Manager: But no reaction from Aya...
Shiho: And then...
Manager: There’s more?
Shiho: The ashes on the priest’s head, they happened to land...in the shape of Africa.
Manager: ...
Aya: You just made that part up, right?
Shiho: Yeah...
Manager: Eh, it was a lie?
Aya: Of course it was.
Shiho: It was worth a shot.
Manager: Thank you. Okay, next.
Shiho steps off, and Yuzuha steps up.
Tumblr media
Yuzuha: My turn. I’ve got a special technique planned.
Manager: A special technique?
Yuzuha: I call it... Thunder! Lightning! Tempest Technique!
Aya: Those are all the same thing.
Tumblr media
Yuzuha: Prepare yourself, heeheehee~.
Manager: Alright then, let’s see what you’ve got.
Tumblr media
Yuzuha comes in close.
Yuzuha: Tickle tickle tickle tickle!
Aya: Uh...
Yuzuha: Huh?
Manager: Your technique was...tickling...?
Yuzuha: Yeah. If it were me, it’d definitely have me laughing.
Rio comes in.
Rio: Tickle tickle tickle tickle!
Tumblr media
Yuzuha: Ahahahahahahahaha!
Manager: Huh, so it does.
Yuzuha: Right? This is weird~.
Rio: Because she’s not a child. That kind of thing won’t work.
Yuzuha steps off.
Manager: You seem confident, Rio-san.
Rio: Of course! I’ll show you humour befitting a mature adult!
Aya: Okay then, please go ahead.
Rio: Give me a second. Just gotta do a bit of setup...
Tumblr media
Rio steps closer.
Manager: Rio-san’s putting a banana peel on the floor...
Rio: Okay, all set!
Rio slides back over to the right.
Manager: And now she’s taking a running start...
Manager: Don’t tell me...
Tumblr media
Rio runs back over and falls.
Rio: Oww~! Who left this banana peel here?!
Aya: Uh...
Rio gets up.
Rio: No reaction!
Manager: Isn’t that a little cliche...?
Rio: I put my body on the line here, so the least you could do is laugh!
Manager: Please don’t extort the girl.
Aya: If it actually happened naturally I’d probably laugh but...
Manager: When it’s so clearly and painfully staged like that...
Rio steps off, and Miharu steps up.
Miharu: Well then, that leaves me.
Manager: I wonder what Miharu’s got in store for us...?
Aya: I’m counting on you...
To be continued...in Part 3.
[1]: Here's a video to give you an idea of what the incense offering looks like, if you're interested. The thing to note is that the incense is loose particles here, not the incense sticks you might see more often. At the funeral, the guests all do this offering while the monk chants a sutra.
