And there goes what little tiny interest I had in this.

This scene had my jaw ON THE FLOOR, and the GREEN GOBLIN SETUP?!? PEAAAK!
I understand why this immediately got renewed for two more seasons—the little details within the storytelling are meticulously woven together!
But also, I think that the animation here is raw and absolutely stunning, especially with the inclusion of blood, which is a bold move for a Spider-Man animated series. It adds a whole new layer of intensity and realism, making the stakes feel higher than ever. This sequence was so well made, literally reminded of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man too!
The action sequences are beautifully choreographed, with fluid motion, dynamic camera angles, and weighty impacts. Every punch, web-swing, and dodge is visually striking, making the fight scenes feel raw and visceral. The lighting and color palette also enhance the tension, creating a cinematic atmosphere.
What truly makes this jaw-dropping is how it pushes boundaries. Spider-Man has always been about balancing heroism with personal struggles, and this scene doesn't shy away from showing the consequences of battle. The inclusion of blood signals a shift in tone, acknowledging the brutal reality of Spidey’s world while maintaining that iconic comic-book style.
Seeing Peter battered and bruised in this scene is absolutely gut-wrenching. It’s one thing to watch Spider-Man take hits in battle, but seeing actual blood—cuts, bruises, and the sheer exhaustion on his face—adds a whole new level of emotional weight. It’s rare for animated versions of Spider-Man to show him this physically broken, and it makes the fight feel far more intense and personal.
This version of Peter feels more vulnerable, more human. He’s not just the wisecracking hero swinging through the city; he’s a young man pushing himself beyond his limits, getting hurt, and still refusing to back down. The visual storytelling here is incredible—his torn suit, the blood dripping from his face, the way he struggles to get back up. It’s a reminder that Spider-Man’s greatest strength isn’t his powers, but his resilience.
Emotionally, this scene hits hard. It evokes that classic Spider-Man No More feeling—the idea that being a hero comes at a terrible cost. It makes you worry for him, root for him, and feel the weight of his struggles. This is what makes Spider-Man different from other heroes—he gets beaten down, but he always gets back up.
This is truly peak Spider-Man storytelling—gritty, emotional, and visually breathtaking. If the series keeps up this level of quality, it might just set a new standard for animated superhero shows!

I saw on twitter that the voice of Peter Parker in the new Disney+ show said he didn’t want the show to be become “woke” and I can’t explain how that pissed me off so bad
Of all the character you could have said this about you picked Spider-Man. The character who rivals that of Superman when it comes to inspiring and giving people hope for the future. Listen I maybe not be the brightest and I may not beam able to comprehend a character but, is not the point of spider that anybody can be being the mask. Anybody can be a hero and save the day. Anybody regardless of race, gender religion and be a hero. To say this while voicing a character who struggles with financial hardships, lives in one of the lost racially diverse cites and I’m definitely just going off assumptions right now who more than likely has used government assistance to help him and his aunt survive is insane. Peter Parker is a struggling kid from New York who does everything in him to help the people he loves and the people in his city.
That man doesn’t deserve to voice Spider-Man

"Not wanting to watch the new Spider Man cartoon because the main voice actor is a right wing weirdo is only going to hurt the rest of the folks who worked on the show."
Okay, first off, this show ain't making it past three seasons because the western animation scene is a mess right now.
And second, I'm tired of folks constantly downplaying right wing talking points to justify giving terrible people a platform.
See, when you don't push back against vile ideologies, they start to become the norm. Why do you think the media spent days debating over whether or not Elon Musk did a Nazi salute? They're trying to normalize this shit.
Hudson Thames isn't some kid on the internet who doesn't know any better, he's a thirty year old man. He didn't "misspeak", he knew exactly what he wanted to say.
Like goddamn, why is it so hard to stop giving objectively terrible people a platform?

So I don't know who heard about the Collider article regarding the alleged interview with Hudson Thames, but personally: I don't think the interview is real. I think the article writer used ai to write the article, and published it without considering the consequences

Is Hudson Thames just a really progressive conservative because I just watched the first 2 episodes of your friendly neighborhood spider-man and if he doesn’t think this is woke what the hell does he consider woke. I was already confused when I read that statement now I’m even more confused having watched the actual show.

So to recap: -MCU Spidey variant prequel -There's a bunch of non-Spidey characters in the cast. Again. -Animated by Polygon. -Anti-woke lead.
THERE IS NOTHING FRIENDLY OR NEIGHBOURLY ABOUT THIS SHOW
#how is it “not woke” when you have a racially diverse cast anyways#god fucking dammit this is not where I thought things would go in 2017...#your friendly neighborhood spiderman#spider-man#hudson thames#disney+#polygon pictures#marvel

SPOILER ALERT:
Peter Parker’s Dad “Richard Parker” is voiced by none other than the legendary Josh Keaton!

Josh Keaton returning as Richard Parker in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is the kind of meta moment that hits hard as a Spider-Man fan. It’s not just a cool and surreal casting choice—it feels like destiny. As a Spectacular Spider-Man fan myself, hearing his voice instantly brings back memories of one of the greatest portrayals of Peter Parker ever, and for so many of us, Josh Keaton was Peter Parker. His voice carried the heart, struggle, and humour of the character in Spectacular Spider-Man, and even though that show never got the continuation it deserved, his Peter never truly left us.
And now, he’s back. But not as Peter—he’s his father. That’s what makes this so powerful. It’s like he’s been woven back into Spider-Man’s legacy in a way that mirrors how the character himself is always shaped by those who came before. Richard Parker is a figure of mystery, a ghost of Peter’s past, and now, Josh Keaton’s voice gives him a presence that feels both familiar and haunting.
It’s even almost symbolic—Keaton’s Peter may not have continued, but his impact on Spider-Man is undeniable. And now, instead of being the one searching for guidance, he is the voice from the past, shaping a new Peter’s journey. It’s a perfect, poetic way to honour both Keaton’s legacy and the ever-evolving nature of Spider-Man. For fans of Spectacular Spider-Man, this isn’t just casting—it’s a tribute!
