Thank you for your reply. You are really kind ily 🥹🥹
Pcos is really hard to deal with. It has fucked me up so bad. From facial hair to hyperpigmented private parts, it has given me everything. I'm so fucking insecure. It's hard not to be😭 I wanna look pretty. My doc gave me heavy meds I was nauseous the whole time I took the tablet. It was hell. Besides i had severse foodpipe ulcers. Now I'm off tablet. I'm just so much so worried about my hair only. I also had to have dandruff!!! Just my life ugh. I had hair down upto my knees. I had to cut it short as it got tangled all the time and it made extra hairloss. Im jsut 18. Haven't even joined university yet. Other girls are pretty ugh. Sorry I jsut ranted. I'm tempted to just shave my head at times. I cry every night lmao.
It is kinda good to know that I'm not alone (although I hope none of us have to grow through this) and thanks for the "don't"s 🫶🫶
Do you have any scalp washing tips btw?
If I touch my head, there's no hair..it's just touching my scalp directly lol bald me
BEAUTIFUL GIRL OF COURSE! I never want my pcos girlies to feel silenced???😚😚 first of all….Oh the facial hair has been kicking my ass since i was 15 and im 21 girl 😭😭 but i will say, at 19-20 it peaked for me, i hit rock bottom and i do think that the external stress of uni pushed it but i also thing it’s a genuine like canon event for us pcos girlies, i truly believe that until ur pcos really gets you down, you can’t rise up from it. i was the biggest id ever been, lost all my hair, facial hair was insane!!
i mean this in the best way, because I’ve been there girl, i still am there, i get laser on my face and neck, i wash my hair and like it gives me anxiety just washing my hair and seeing the loss, feeling the loss of density, like you i had hair down my back my whole life and i cut it over a year ago and now it has grown back thicker at least bc mine was all straggly at the worst point😭 i KNOW your pain.
BUT everybody always told me that the older i get it will level out and trust me it does!! and it did. im 21 and things have settled, we can only go through this process. i promise you, it gets better. my hair is still thinner but it shines and i put love into it!! i oil my scalp every time i wash it, I’ve been doing it for 8 months religiously.
and girl you are pretty!! i used to read the r/pcos thread a lot bc it made me feel less alone and like, i saw a post once venting about how hard it is having so much maintenance, to wake up and have to shave your face, to be conscious, to have to cover hair loss. that constant weight of having to get up and do all these steps that you feel other women don’t. i know the frustration, i have bumps and marks and body hair that makes me sob if I don’t shave it and then I look down in the shower and it hits me. but it’s also okay to pay for the things like laser or waxing, or learning how to wax etc, we have to manage in any way, we are allowed to prioritise and do things that make us feel beautiful bc we deserve it. we have to adapt rather than hoping it might just disappear, and we have to accept it🥺🩷
but diet is huge!! at least try and have a protein heavy breakfast!! 30g of protein is such an important aim, I promise that makes such a difference. definitely try not to have a lot of sugar in the morning. i only drink water or spearmint tea. matcha tea can be good bc it’s better then coffee, but I never drink caffeine because it’s so bad for us pcos girls especially on an empty stomach!! try and eat good fats!! and also integrating exercise!! and also MANAGE STRESS BABE I MEAN IT
but you are still beautiful, effortlessly and with your ways of coping. there is nothing wrong with us!! don’t be sorry for ranting at all, i also wanted to shave my head at the height of my weight loss i had a huge bald spot and it’s still kinda there 😭 i know this shit is REAL
but definitely check in with a doctor if you can get any advice/meds that could help, maybe a birth control pill could help you but again I don’t recommend that due to my own experiences bc it gave me severe acne, migraines and other things but tbf my hair was lucious😜, pcos is a lot of trial and error and seeing what might work for you.
as far as tips go!! look into Indian/arab/ayuverdic routines on TikTok/youtube!!! look up ways to massage your scalp!!!
here are my fave creators !!
@golabbeauty on tiktok for hair loss, hair oiling, diet, she has pcos herself!
@zoeantonia_ tiktok + instagram!! pcos positivity for facial hair, bloating, skin!! she also gives great diet and workout advice and she’s amazing!!
@mila.magnani on tiktok! pcos creator amazing!!!!!!
but i want you to know that you don’t have to start everything now, that you can eat something one creator says not to!! you will find your rhythm with this! steal, twist, tailor everything you hear and see creators doing !! whether it’s making your own mixture of oils for oiling or making some kind of nightly mock tail for your hormones you’ve found!! either way i believe in you and im always here <3333 educate yourself but don’t overwhelm yourself! time is your biggest ally, my heart goes out to you angel <3

Bonjour à tous. I AM HOME! After only three weeks in hospital I arrived home on Wednesday afternoon. Was I the happiest person with the cheesiest grin that day! I cannot tell you how it felt to leave my “cell”. The doctors and nurses are fantastic but being cooped up in that room was indescribable.
So being “free” the first thing I did when I got home was go into the garden to see my plants. I really didn’t think there would be many (if any) but it’s amazing how gardens can surprise you. The cyclamen, under the shrubs, are in flower their delicate mauve flowers just visible. I had thought they may have been lost when the gardener did his “weed control” back in May. There was another surprise too, the plants I thought were the kalanchoe I had planted out last summer turned out to be osteospermum (see photo above). Unfortunately, the gardener hadn’t been to tailler les haies (trim the hedges) or cut the cherry tree. I left a message on his ansaphone but he will probably just turn up one afternoon on his way home.
I know I should have arranged to have my central heating boiler checked in the summer but I didn’t! I messaged the new plumber, who fitted my new toilet, asking if he was available to service the boiler in October, he never replied! I have messaged the “old” plumber too and still no response. Blimey these guys must be making money “hand over fist” if they don’t have the time to reply with a date to come out.
Monique did my shopping for me, she has offered to do my cleaning but to be honest I am in the process of arranging a cleaning lady with the help of Anie and Nadine.
Of course, my neighbour is only too willing to do anything to help . He went and collected my medication and yesterday morning I asked if he could collect a few things at the supermarket for me.
There are only certain things that I can eat and I have to have hot (temperature wise) food. No pepper or spices 😩 and as my taste buds are not finally tuned to savoury items everything is so bland! Unfortunately, due to the hospital finding an ulcer in my stomach (back in May) the 100% orange or apple juice is out of bounds to me as they are too acidic, that leaves me with good old cold water. No tea, coffee, cocoa, sparkling/fizzy drinks 😩. The dietician says I should follow this regime for at least three months but she prefers six months, oh my goodness what fun is there in that food for the next six months? I will check it out with the oncologist when I go for my consultation. There really is a lot to think about with my diet due to the ulcer, following the stent fitted in my heart and now after the cancer treatment which means I need to boost my immune system. It’s a headache!
“The Daddy” has been busy, not just with his full time job, but also with his photography. He was at the Scarborough AFC match on Tuesday evening taking photos for their Facebook page, on Wednesday evening he was taking some promotional photos for a new restaurant and cocktail bar in Scarborough. This weekend he has his children so it will be a “full on” weekend for him.
“The Trainee Solicitor” has been dealing with another solicitors files while he was away, he has enjoyed it so much. His boss has been very pleased with what he has done and told him so. All good news regarding his training plus it motivates.
“The Ex Psychology Graduate” has been working full time this week, it’s not a 9-5 job and involves weekend work but she has had time to deal with mundane jobs before going to work, or on her days off.
This weekend is the Foire aux Bulles (Champagne Festival) in town. There are rides and amusements for children, lots of stalls selling their wares. It runs from one end of the main street right down to the other. The Knitting, Crochet and Patchwork group I took charge of in February have a stall and as lots of people come to the town on this weekend I am hoping that “my ladies” will manage to sell some of the items on the stall. They have given their time at a couple of smaller gatherings and have been unsuccessful with sales which is such a shame. The sun is shining on them although it is still only 15c, I have sent a message wishing them good luck.
Now it’s time for the records I have chosen this week. The first, back to 1979, is only one I could have chosen by this very talented man, as I have said previously, it isn’t always the lyrics that get to me but the music. “Get It Right Next Time” by Gerry Rafferty is just brilliant. My second song, back to 1964, is by a fantastic British female singer, the song “My Colouring Book” by Dusty Springfield. It was hard for me to decide between this song and “If You Go Away” by Dusty released in 1968.
Have a good week until next week.

I recently discovered DigestSync, a supplement that caught my attention because it supports the digestive system in a way that is targeted by a nerve that we tend to forget: the vagus nerve. These nerves are important for controlling the movement of food through our intestines, affecting everything from gut reactions to overall health.
DigestSync's unique idea is to focus on improving vagus nerve function. This nerve is the center of the brain-gut axis and is very important for our digestive processes. When these nerves are functioning properly, food passes through the digestive tract more smoothly, reducing bloating and aiding in the absorption of nutrients. This is important because a well-functioning digestive system is the foundation of good health. Key ingredients in DigestSync and their benefits: Baobab: This superfood is not only rich in nutrients, but also rich in fiber, which aids in digestion and improves nutrient absorption. Nutmeg: Known for its prebiotic properties, it helps maintain intestinal flora and support overall digestive health. Konjac Glucomannan: This soluble fiber is beneficial for weight management and promoting intestinal transit. Biopolyamines:
These compounds are important for maintaining gut health and supporting the gut lining, ensuring the proper functioning of the digestive tract. I know that incorporating DigestSync into your daily routine will have great digestive health benefits. Users may notice a significant decrease in puffiness and wind, which is not a good idea for many people. In addition, the high nutrient intake ensures that the body gets the most nutrients from the food, supporting overall body health and increasing energy levels. Choosing the right supplement is important, and with DigestSync, your decision will be easier when you understand its scientific basis and its focus on the parts of our body that play an important role in our health. DigestSync offers a practical solution powered by natural and effective ingredients to support those who suffer from digestive problems or want to maintain a healthy digestive system. A colonoscopy is a medical treatment that allows doctors to examine the inside of your large intestine (colon) and detect any problems early on. It’s like taking a close-up picture of your gut to check for problems. This treatment is critical for detecting colon cancer, polyps, and other digestive problems that may not present symptoms straight away. Knowing what to expect can help alleviate your concerns about the process. This guide will provide you with the "Comprehensive Colonoscopy Guide: Procedure, Benefits, and Expert Care at the Best Gastro Hospital in Surat," showing you just how valuable a colonoscopy can be for your health.
Why Colonoscopies Are Important
Colonoscopy is a standard screening examination for adults, particularly those aged 50 and up. Why? Colorectal cancer is one of the most frequent malignancies, and early detection can save lives. When found early, this type of cancer is often treatable.
But it's not only about cancer. A colonoscopy can also detect polyps, which are tiny growths in the colon that may develop into cancer over time. If your doctor finds any during the procedure, they can often remove them on the spot, reducing your risk significantly.
People with a family history of colon cancer or those who have had symptoms like persistent stomach pain or changes in bowel habits may need to start screenings even earlier. The idea is to catch potential problems before they develop into something serious.
Understanding the Colonoscopy Procedure
Let’s break down the colonoscopy process into simple steps so you know what to expect:
1. Preparing for the Colonoscopy
Diet Changes: A few days before your procedure, your doctor will ask you to eat a low-fiber diet. Then, on the day before the colonoscopy, you’ll switch to a clear liquid diet—think broth, clear juices, and gelatin. This helps clear out your intestines, ensuring a clean view during the exam.
Bowel Prep: You’ll need to drink a special solution that will clean out your intestines. While this part might be uncomfortable, it’s crucial for a successful procedure.
2. During the Procedure
Sedation: When you arrive at the hospital, you’ll receive a mild sedative to help you relax. Most people feel calm and may not remember much of the procedure at all.
The Scope: The doctor will gently insert a long, flexible tube called a colonoscope into your rectum and guide it through the colon. This tube has a tiny camera that sends images to a monitor, allowing the doctor to see the inside of your colon.
Checking for Problems: If the doctor sees anything unusual, like polyps, they can take a small sample for testing or even remove them during the colonoscopy.
3. After the Procedure
The entire process usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Afterward, you’ll spend some time in a recovery area to let the sedation wear off. You might feel a bit bloated or have mild cramping, but this typically goes away quickly. Because of the sedation, you’ll need someone to drive you home.
What Can a Colonoscopy Reveal?
A colonoscopy can uncover several important health issues:
1. Polyps
These are small growths that can form in your colon. While most polyps are harmless, some can develop into cancer over time. Finding and removing them during a colonoscopy can greatly reduce your cancer risk.
2. Colorectal Cancer
This is one of the primary reasons for a colonoscopy. By spotting cancer early, your chances of successful treatment increase dramatically.
3. Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Conditions like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis cause inflammation in the digestive tract. A colonoscopy helps doctors see the extent of the inflammation and create a plan for managing it.
4. Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis
Diverticulosis involves small pouches forming in the colon walls. If these pouches become inflamed or infected, it leads to diverticulitis, which can be painful. A colonoscopy can help diagnose these conditions.
5. Gastrointestinal Bleeding
If you’re experiencing unexplained bleeding, a colonoscopy can help locate the source, guiding your doctor to address the issue effectively.
Benefits of Getting a Colonoscopy
Though you might feel anxious about the procedure, here are some great benefits of having a colonoscopy:
Early Detection: It allows for early detection of problems, which is key to effective treatment and can save your life.
Preventive Action: Removing polyps during the procedure helps prevent future health issues.
Peace of Mind: Knowing your colon health can alleviate worries about potential digestive problems.
Who Should Consider a Colonoscopy?
Most experts recommend that individuals start getting screened for colorectal cancer at age 50. However, if you have a family history of cancer or experience digestive symptoms like bleeding or persistent pain, you may need to start earlier. Talking to a specialist, such as a gastroenterologist in Surat, can help you determine the right time to begin screening based on your personal health history.
What to Expect After a Colonoscopy
After the procedure, recovery is usually quick. You might feel a little bloated or drowsy, but these effects should wear off in a few hours. Your doctor will share any findings with you right away, and if they took biopsies, you may need to wait a few days for results.
It’s common to have a follow-up appointment to discuss any findings and decide on next steps based on what was discovered during the colonoscopy.
Conclusion
A colonoscopy is a simple and effective way to take charge of your digestive health. From early cancer detection to identifying other issues, this procedure plays a critical role in preventing serious health problems. If you’re due for a screening or experiencing symptoms that concern you, don’t hesitate to reach out for care. With the right guidance and support, you can take proactive steps toward better health and well-being. Remember, understanding your body and staying on top of your health is the best gift you can give yourself!

Foods That Trigger Abdominal Pain: What to Avoid
Abdominal pain can be a frustrating and uncomfortable issue that affects people of all ages. It can range from mild discomfort to severe pain, and one of the most common causes is the food we consume. In this article, we'll explore the foods that can trigger abdominal pain and what you should avoid to maintain a healthy digestive system.
The Connection Between Food and Abdominal Pain
Many people experience abdominal pain after eating, but few realize that certain foods may be the root cause of their discomfort. What you eat directly affects your digestive system, and some foods are more likely to trigger problems like bloating, gas, cramps, or even serious digestive issues.
Common Foods That Trigger Abdominal Pain
There are several types of foods known to cause abdominal pain, especially in individuals with sensitive stomachs or digestive conditions. Here’s an overview of some common triggers:
1. Spicy Foods
Spicy foods, like those made with hot peppers, can irritate the lining of your stomach, leading to pain and discomfort. People with acid reflux or gastritis may experience more severe symptoms after consuming spicy dishes.
2. Dairy Products
If you’re lactose intolerant, consuming milk, cheese, or ice cream can lead to severe cramping, bloating, and diarrhea. Lactose intolerance occurs when your body lacks the enzyme to digest lactose, the sugar found in dairy products.
3. Fried Foods
Greasy, fried foods are hard to digest and can lead to bloating, gas, and stomach pain. These foods also take longer to pass through the digestive system, which can cause discomfort.
4. Artificial Sweeteners
Sugar substitutes like sorbitol, found in sugar-free gum and candies, are not easily absorbed by the body. This may result in gas, bloating, and stomach discomfort.
5. Carbonated Drinks
Soda, sparkling water, and other carbonated drinks can fill your stomach with gas, leading to bloating and pain. This is especially common if consumed with a meal.
6. High-Fiber Vegetables
While fiber is essential for digestion, too much of it, especially from raw vegetables like broccoli and cabbage, can cause gas and abdominal pain.
Why Do These Foods Cause Abdominal Pain?
The foods listed above can trigger abdominal pain for a variety of reasons. Let’s explore why certain foods cause discomfort:
Spicy Foods: Capsaicin, the active component in chili peppers, can irritate the stomach lining, especially if you already have digestive issues like gastritis or ulcers.
Dairy Products: In individuals with lactose intolerance, the body cannot break down lactose, which leads to fermentation in the gut, causing gas, bloating, and pain.
Fried Foods: High-fat foods are digested slowly, which can cause the stomach to work harder, leading to cramping and discomfort.
Artificial Sweeteners: These sweeteners pass through the digestive system without being fully absorbed, causing fermentation in the colon, which leads to bloating and pain.
Carbonated Drinks: The carbonation in these drinks releases gas into the stomach, which can cause bloating and discomfort.
High-Fiber Vegetables: Raw, high-fiber foods can take longer to digest, causing gas and bloating in people with sensitive stomachs.
How Can You Avoid These Pain Triggers?
Understanding which foods cause abdominal pain can help you make better dietary choices and avoid discomfort. But what if you still experience pain despite avoiding these triggers? Consulting a healthcare professional may be the best course of action.
By opting for an abdominal pain online doctor consultation in India, you can get expert advice on managing your symptoms and discovering any underlying conditions, such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or lactose intolerance. A doctor can also recommend specific tests or a diet plan tailored to your needs, helping you to avoid common pitfalls and maintain a pain-free lifestyle.
Take Control of Your Digestive Health
Now that you are aware of the foods that could be causing your abdominal pain, it’s time to take action. Avoiding these triggers can significantly reduce discomfort, but it’s also important to consult with a doctor to understand your unique digestive needs.
Steps You Can Take:
Consult a Specialist:If the pain persists, it's crucial to consult a doctor. With the best online doctor consultation services available, you can easily get in touch with healthcare professionals from the comfort of your home.
Schedule a Full Checkup:Abdominal pain could be a sign of a more serious underlying issue, such as IBS or gastritis. Booking an abdominal pain online doctor consultation in India can help you get a diagnosis and start treatment as soon as possible.
Monitor Your Diet:Keep a food diary to track which foods cause discomfort. This can help both you and your doctor identify problem foods and create a personalized plan.
FAQs About Foods and Abdominal Pain
Q1: What drinks help with abdominal pain?
A: Warm herbal teas like ginger, peppermint, or chamomile can help soothe abdominal pain, as they have anti-inflammatory and calming properties.
Q2: How do you get immediate relief from abdominal pain?A: Immediate relief can be achieved by gently massaging the abdomen, applying a heating pad, and drinking warm fluids.
Q3: What position to sleep in for stomach pain?A: Sleeping on your left side can aid digestion and help relieve stomach pain. It allows gravity to help food pass through your digestive system more easily.
Q4: Can salt and water stop stomach pain?A: Drinking a solution of salt and water may help with mild stomach issues, such as indigestion, by balancing electrolytes. However, it is not recommended for severe pain or conditions like ulcers, and you should consult a doctor for ongoing issues.
Conclusion
Abdominal pain can often be linked to the foods we eat. By avoiding known triggers like spicy foods, dairy, and fried items, and consulting a professional through abdominal pain online doctor consultation in India, you can manage and prevent discomfort. Taking proactive steps, such as scheduling checkups and adjusting your diet, will help you take control of your digestive health.

Omeprazole: A Natural Solution for Dog Upset Stomachs
Dogs, like humans, can experience upset stomachs from a variety of causes, such as acid reflux, gastritis, and ulcers. Watching your dog suffer from digestive issues can be distressing, especially when symptoms like vomiting, discomfort, or loss of appetite occur. Fortunately, Omeprazole, a widely used proton pump inhibitor (PPI), can be an effective solution to alleviate these symptoms by reducing stomach acid and promoting healing. Although Omeprazole is a pharmaceutical medication, many dog owners appreciate its ability to naturally regulate stomach acid and improve overall digestive health.
What is Omeprazole?
Omeprazole is a medication that works by inhibiting the proton pumps in the stomach that are responsible for acid production. By reducing acid levels, it prevents and treats conditions like acid reflux, stomach ulcers, and gastritis in dogs. Although originally designed for humans, Omeprazole has become a go-to medication for veterinarians in managing acid-related issues in dogs.
Available in tablet, capsule, and liquid forms, Omeprazole is easy to administer and is commonly prescribed for short-term use, though some dogs may require it for longer periods depending on the condition. By naturally reducing excess acid, Omeprazole can give your dog relief from a variety of stomach issues and help prevent further damage to their digestive system.
When is Omeprazole Needed for Upset Stomachs?
An upset stomach in dogs can be caused by a range of factors, from diet changes to stress or underlying medical conditions. Here are a few conditions in which Omeprazole can be particularly helpful:
Acid Reflux: Also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus, causing irritation and inflammation. Symptoms may include vomiting, excessive drooling, and coughing. Omeprazole helps by reducing the acid production that leads to reflux, allowing the esophagus to heal and relieving the symptoms.
Gastritis: This condition involves inflammation of the stomach lining, which can result from infections, toxins, or excessive acid production. Symptoms of gastritis include vomiting, nausea, and a decreased appetite. Omeprazole works to reduce the acid that irritates the stomach lining, providing relief from inflammation and discomfort.
Stomach Ulcers: Stomach ulcers can develop due to chronic acid exposure, prolonged use of NSAIDs, or stress. Ulcers cause pain, vomiting, and potentially blood in the stool or vomit. Omeprazole’s ability to decrease acid levels can help ulcers heal and prevent new ones from forming.
Helicobacter Pylori Infections: Certain bacterial infections, such as Helicobacter pylori, can lead to chronic gastritis and ulcers in dogs. Omeprazole may be part of a treatment plan alongside antibiotics to reduce stomach acid, which aids in the healing process.
How Omeprazole Naturally Regulates Acid Levels
Unlike some medications that merely neutralize stomach acid after it’s produced, Omeprazole works at the source by inhibiting the proton pumps that produce stomach acid. This process makes Omeprazole an effective long-term solution for conditions related to high acid levels.
By reducing acid production, Omeprazole allows the stomach lining to heal naturally, promoting overall digestive health and relieving pain and discomfort. Its action is both preventive and curative, which makes it an excellent option for dogs suffering from chronic acid-related conditions.

Signs You Might Have a Serious Gastro Problem
Digestive issues are common, but how do you know when your stomach troubles require medical attention? While occasional bloating, indigestion, or discomfort may be harmless, persistent or severe symptoms could signal a more serious gastrointestinal problem. Early detection and intervention are crucial for managing these conditions effectively. If you're experiencing any of the following signs, it may be time to consult a Gastroenterologist in Gurgaon.
1. Persistent Abdominal Pain
Occasional stomach cramps are normal, but persistent or intense abdominal pain should not be ignored. This can indicate underlying conditions such as ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), or even inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. If the pain is sharp, severe, or localized to one area of your abdomen, especially if accompanied by nausea or vomiting, it's best to consult a stomach doctor in Gurgaon for a thorough evaluation.
2. Unexplained Weight Loss
Losing weight without making changes to your diet or exercise routine could be a red flag for gastrointestinal issues. Conditions such as celiac disease, peptic ulcers, or even more serious concerns like stomach cancer could be behind this unexplained weight loss. A Gastroenterologist in Gurgaon will be able to run the necessary tests to determine the cause and provide appropriate treatment options.
3. Frequent Heartburn or Acid Reflux
Experiencing heartburn occasionally is normal, especially after eating spicy or fatty foods. However, if heartburn or acid reflux becomes a regular occurrence, it could indicate a more severe condition, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Chronic GERD can damage the esophagus and lead to complications if not managed correctly.
4. Changes in Bowel Habits
Frequent diarrhea, constipation, or noticeable changes in the consistency of your stool could signal a serious gastrointestinal problem. Conditions like IBS, diverticulitis, or even colon cancer can present through abnormal bowel habits.
5. Bloating and Excessive Gas
While occasional bloating or gas is common after eating certain foods, excessive or persistent bloating can indicate a more serious issue like food intolerances (such as lactose intolerance) or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). If bloating and gas are accompanied by other symptoms like pain or changes in bowel habits, it's wise to consult a Gastroenterologist to rule out more severe conditions.
6. Difficulty Swallowing
Difficulty swallowing, also known as dysphagia, could be a symptom of a gastrointestinal problem such as GERD or esophageal motility disorders. In some cases, it could be a sign of something more concerning, like esophageal cancer. If you frequently experience pain or difficulty when swallowing, it’s important to see a stomach doctor in Gurgaon for further evaluation.
7. Nausea and Vomiting
Nausea and vomiting that persist for days or weeks without an apparent cause may indicate a serious digestive problem. This could be related to stomach ulcers, infections, or even conditions affecting other parts of the digestive system, like the liver or pancreas.

Licorice: An Ancient Remedy with Modern Benefits
Licorice, or Glycyrrhiza glabra, is one of the most revered medicinal herbs in the world, known for its sweet flavor and a host of therapeutic benefits. For centuries, licorice has been used in traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and ancient Greek medicine. This incredible plant offers more than just its distinctive flavor, often associated with candies and confections. Today, licorice is recognized for its powerful health benefits, making it a valuable component in modern herbal medicine. This article explores the many benefits of licorice, its uses, potential side effects, and the best ways to incorporate it into your lifestyle.
Licorice is a leguminous plant native to parts of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The root of the plant contains a compound called glycyrrhizin, which is responsible for its characteristic sweetness—said to be up to 50 times sweeter than sugar. The herb has been used in various forms, such as teas, extracts, powders, and capsules, to address a range of health issues.
Licorice has a long history of use in treating respiratory problems, digestive issues, and inflammatory conditions. While many are familiar with its flavor in candies, it's important to note that medicinal-grade licorice often differs from the licorice found in commercial sweets.
Health Benefits of Licorice
1. Supports Respiratory Health
Licorice has been used for centuries to help clear the respiratory tract. It has expectorant properties that can help loosen mucus and make it easier to expel from the body. For this reason, licorice root is often used in remedies for coughs, colds, and bronchitis. The anti-inflammatory effects of licorice also help to soothe the respiratory passages, providing relief from sore throats and other respiratory irritations.
How to Use: Drinking licorice tea or taking licorice supplements may help soothe symptoms of respiratory conditions. Herbal syrups that contain licorice are also a popular remedy for coughs.
2. Digestive Aid
Licorice has a longstanding reputation as a digestive aid. Its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties can help alleviate symptoms of indigestion, acid reflux, and heartburn. Licorice is particularly effective in treating ulcers caused by excess stomach acid. The glycyrrhizin in licorice root has been shown to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria that can contribute to gastric ulcers.
How to Use: Licorice supplements in the form of capsules or teas can be taken after meals to promote better digestion and relieve indigestion.
3. Anti-inflammatory and Immune Support
Licorice contains flavonoids, glycyrrhizin, and other compounds with strong anti-inflammatory effects. These compounds help reduce inflammation in the body, making licorice useful in treating conditions like arthritis and autoimmune disorders. Moreover, licorice supports the immune system by enhancing the body's defense mechanisms against pathogens.
Studies have also shown that glycyrrhizin has antiviral properties, making licorice a potential aid in managing viral infections such as the common cold, flu, and even herpes simplex virus.
How to Use: Licorice extracts and teas can be incorporated into your diet to boost immunity and manage inflammatory conditions.
4. Promotes Skin Health
Licorice has become a popular ingredient in skincare due to its anti-inflammatory and skin-brightening properties. Licorice extracts can help lighten hyperpigmentation, reduce redness, and treat skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Its natural compounds soothe irritation and help the skin recover from inflammation.
How to Use: Look for skincare products that contain licorice extract or create your own natural skin mask by mixing licorice powder with water or honey.
5. Hormonal Balance and Menstrual Health
Licorice is known for its phytoestrogenic properties, which means it contains plant-based compounds that mimic estrogen. This makes it a potential remedy for managing symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and night sweats. Additionally, licorice can help regulate the menstrual cycle and alleviate symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) due to its anti-inflammatory and hormone-balancing properties.
How to Use: Herbalists often recommend taking licorice tea or supplements to help balance hormones and manage menstrual discomfort. However, prolonged use should be done under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Types of Licorice Supplements
Licorice is available in various forms, each offering different benefits depending on the condition you're addressing. The most common forms of licorice supplements include:
Licorice Tea: One of the simplest ways to consume licorice. It can be enjoyed hot or cold and is particularly beneficial for soothing the digestive system and respiratory tract.
Licorice Root Extract: Available in liquid form, this is a concentrated form of licorice and is often added to teas or taken in drop form. This extract can be highly potent and is commonly used for immune support and hormonal balance.
Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (DGL): DGL is a form of licorice that has had the glycyrrhizin removed, making it safer for long-term use, especially for individuals concerned about high blood pressure or fluid retention. DGL is primarily used to treat digestive disorders like acid reflux and stomach ulcers.
Licorice Capsules: These are ideal for those looking for a convenient, pre-dosed form of licorice. Capsules are available in both regular and DGL forms.

Understanding Common Stomach Issues: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments
Stomach issues are a widespread concern that millions of individuals experience globally. Stomach issues may range from irregular discomfort to persistent pain, which can negatively impair everyday functioning and general health. It is possible to effectively manage and treat a variety of stomach disorders by being aware of their causes, symptoms, and available therapies.
Typical Stomach Problems 1. Dyspepsia, or indigestion - Heartburn, nausea, bloating, and upper abdominal pain are the symptoms. - Causes: Stress, eating a lot of hot or fatty food, using certain drugs, and overindulging. - Treatment: Make lifestyle adjustments include eating smaller, more frequent meals, managing your stress level, and staying away from bad foods. Medication or over-the-counter antacids might help. 2. Arthritis
- Symptoms include bloating, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. The causes of gastric lining inflammation are typically infections (Helicobacter pylori), long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs), or heavy alcohol intake. - Treatment: If an infection is the culprit, treatment options may include acid-reducing drugs, antibiotics, and abstaining from irritants like alcohol and NSAIDs. 3. Peptic Ulcer
-Indigestion, nausea, and burning sensation in the stomach are the symptoms. - Causes: Prolonged NSAID usage or H. pylori infection are the most prevalent causes of ulcers, which develop in the upper section of the small intestine or the lining of the stomach. - Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), antibiotics, and avoiding NSAIDs and irritants are the modes of treatment. Surgery may be necessary in extreme situations.
4. IBS, or irritable bowel syndrome
- Symptoms include constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas, and cramping in the abdomen. - Causes: Although the precise cause is unknown, stress, particular foods, or hormone fluctuations may be the starting point. - Treatment: Adhere to a nutritious diet, learn how to manage stress, and use prescription drugs for symptom-specific issues like constipation or diarrhea. 5. Acid reflux disease of the stomach (GERD)
- Symptoms include chest pain, regurgitation, heartburn, and trouble swallowing. - Reasons: occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter weakens, causing stomach acid to often reflux back into the esophagus. - Treatment options include lifestyle modifications (such as losing weight or avoiding bad foods), prescription drugs (such as PPIs or H2-receptor antagonists), and, in extreme situations, surgery.
6. IBD, or inflammatory bowel disease
- Symptoms include weariness, weight loss, stomach pain, and persistent diarrhea. - Causes: Among these are ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease; the precise causes are unclear but entail an aberrant immune response. - Anti-inflammatory drugs, immunosuppressants, and occasionally intestinal segment removal surgery are used as treatments. When to Consult a Physician While many stomach problems can be treated with over-the-counter drugs and lifestyle modifications, symptoms that are severe or chronic need to be seen by a doctor. Seek expert assistance if you encounter: - Excruciating, persistent stomach ache. - Constant nausea or vomiting. Unexpected reduction in weight. - Blood in vomit or stools. - Suction difficulties.
Preventive actions and modifications to lifestyle
Eating a balanced diet and leading a healthy lifestyle can greatly lower the chance of gastrointestinal problems. Think about the following: - Balanced Diet: Consume a diet high in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. Steer clear of eating too many foods that are acidic, greasy, or spicy. - Hydration: To help with digestion, sip lots of water throughout the day. - Frequent Exercise: Maintain a healthy digestive system by partaking in regular physical activity. - Stress Management: To effectively manage stress, use relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation.
Conclusion
From mild pain to major disorders requiring medical attention, stomach problems can range in severity. Those who are aware of the frequent stomach issues, their causes, and available treatments will be better able to control their symptoms and seek the right medical attention when necessary. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and paying attention to any changes in your digestive system can also help you feel better overall and avoid problems in the future.

Type 2 Diabetic Gastroparesis: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment
This article is originally published on Freedom from Diabetes website, available here. Are you living with Type 2 Diabetes and struggling with poor digestion? Do you want to know the reason behind this. Gastroparesis may be the culprit. This condition affects millions of individuals worldwide, causing delayed stomach emptying and a range of uncomfortable symptoms. You have to take proper guidance from your doctor.
Also here, we will discuss about Type 2 Diabetic Gastroparesis and their causes, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment options. So let's get started on the journey towards better digestive health! First understand what is Type 2 Diabetic Gastroparesis?
What is Type 2 Diabetic Gastroparesis?
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition that affects the way your body metabolizes glucose (sugar). Glucose is the body’s main source of energy and comes from the food you eat.
Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, helps cells use glucose for energy. In type 2 diabetes, either your body doesn’t produce enough insulin or the cells don’t respond properly to insulin, causing a buildup of sugar in your bloodstream. Type 2 diabetes can also cause gastroparesis, a condition in which your stomach muscles stop working properly and food moves too slowly through your digestive system. Gastroparesis can make it difficult to control blood sugar levels. Lets understand the symtoms of gastroparesis include nausea, vomiting, bloating, abdominal pain, and weight loss. If you have any of these symptoms, see to your a doctor.
Causes of Type 2 Diabetic Gastroparesis?
The precise cause of type 2 diabetic gastroparesis is unknown, but it is thought to be due to a combination of factors. First, type 2 diabetes itself can damage the nerves that control the muscles of the stomach (the vagus nerve), which can lead to gastroparesis. In addition, some medications used to treat type 2 diabetes (such as metformin) can also cause or contribute to gastroparesis.
How Is Type 2 Diabetic gastroparesis Diagnosed?
A medical history and physical examination. This can help your doctor rule out other possible causes of your symptoms, such as ulcers or dumping syndrome.
A small tube will be inserted through your nose into your stomach. You will then be given a radioisotope-tagged meal to eat. The amount of radioactivity in your stomach will be measured over the next few hours to determine how quickly your stomach is emptying.
An upper GI endoscopy.
A gastric emptying breath test.
You have to remember these things for sure while managing and treating type 2 diabetic gastroparesis, it’s important to keep your blood sugar levels under control. This can be done by following a healthy diet, maintaining a regular exercise routine, and monitoring your blood sugar levels regularly. Also taking the peoper medication as prescribed and should not skipping doses. Be more careful about the side effects of your medication and report them to your doctor right away.
Diet and Lifestyle Tips for Type 2 Diabetic Gastroparesis
Avoid large meal, eat small, frequent meals and snacks.
Go for low-fat and easy-to-digest foods.
Limit high-fiber foods, as they can slow digestion.
Avoid spicy foods, as they can irritate the stomach.
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day, including water, clear juices, and decaffeinated tea or coffee. Limit alcoholic beverages.

The Importance of Regular Gastro Check-Ups
Maintaining good health involves more than just diet and exercise; it also requires regular medical check-ups to monitor and address potential issues early. One critical aspect of health that often gets overlooked is gastrointestinal (gastro) health. Regular gastro check-ups play a vital role in ensuring the proper functioning of the digestive system, preventing severe diseases, and maintaining overall well-being, say our doctors at SIDS hospital, one of the best gastro hospitals in Surat. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of regular gastro check-ups, what they entail, and how they contribute to long-term health.
Understanding Gastro Check-Ups
Gastro check-ups are medical examinations focused on the digestive system, including the oesophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. These check-ups aim to detect, diagnose, and treat various gastrointestinal disorders, ranging from common conditions like acid reflux and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) to more severe diseases such as Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and gastrointestinal cancers. Getting these check-ups done from any of the best hospitals in Surat such as SIDS Hospital.
What to Expect During a Gastro Check-Up
During a gastro check-up, a gastroenterologist — a doctor specializing in the digestive system — will conduct a thorough evaluation that may include:
1. Medical History Review: The doctor will review your medical history, including any previous gastrointestinal issues, medications, and lifestyle factors that could impact your digestive health.
2. Physical Examination: A physical examination helps assess any visible signs of gastrointestinal problems, such as abdominal tenderness or swelling.
3. Diagnostic Tests: Depending on your symptoms and medical history, the doctor may recommend various diagnostic tests, such as:
- Blood Tests: To check for anaemia, infection, and other markers of gastrointestinal diseases.
- Stool Tests: To detect infections, inflammation, or blood in the stool.
- Endoscopy: A procedure where a thin, flexible tube with a camera is inserted through the mouth to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and upper part of the small intestine.
- Colonoscopy: Similar to an endoscopy, but the tube is inserted through the rectum to examine the colon and rectum.
The Benefits of Regular Gastro Check-Ups
Regular gastro check-ups offer numerous benefits, significantly contributing to early disease detection, effective treatment, and overall digestive health.
1. Early Detection of Gastrointestinal Diseases
Many gastrointestinal diseases, such as colorectal cancer, peptic ulcers, and inflammatory bowel disease, can develop silently without noticeable symptoms in the early stages. Regular gastro check-ups enable early detection of these conditions, allowing for timely intervention and better treatment outcomes. Doctors performing the best laparoscopic surgeries in Surat say that early detection is particularly crucial for colorectal cancer, as it is one of the most preventable yet deadly cancers if not caught early.
2. Prevention of Severe Complications
Regular check-ups can prevent severe complications by identifying and treating minor issues before they escalate. For example, catching and managing Helicobacter pylori infection early can prevent the development of peptic ulcers and gastric cancer. Similarly, monitoring and controlling chronic conditions like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis can prevent complications such as strictures, fistulas, and an increased risk of colorectal cancer.
3. Personalized Treatment Plans
Gastro check-ups allow doctors to create personalized treatment plans based on an individual’s specific needs and medical history. These plans may include dietary recommendations, lifestyle changes, medications, and regular monitoring to manage existing conditions and prevent new ones from developing. Personalized treatment plans ensure that patients receive the most effective care tailored to their unique health profile.
4. Improved Digestive Health and Quality of Life
Regular gastro check-ups contribute to better digestive health by addressing common issues such as acid reflux, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. By managing these symptoms effectively, individuals can enjoy a higher quality of life, free from the discomfort and disruptions caused by gastrointestinal problems. Improved digestive health also supports overall well-being, as the digestive system plays a crucial role in nutrient absorption and immune function.
5. Education and Awareness
Gastro check-ups provide an opportunity for patients to learn more about their digestive health and the steps they can take to maintain it. Doctors can educate patients about the importance of a balanced diet, regular exercise, hydration, and other lifestyle factors that support a healthy digestive system. Increased awareness and knowledge empower individuals to make informed decisions about their health and adopt habits that promote long-term well-being.
When to Schedule a Gastro Check-Up
While the frequency of gastro check-ups may vary based on individual risk factors and medical history, certain signs and symptoms warrant immediate attention. Schedule a gastro check-up at the best hospital in Surat if you experience:
- Persistent abdominal pain or discomfort
- Unexplained weight loss
- Changes in bowel habits (e.g., diarrhoea, constipation, blood in stool)
- Chronic heartburn or acid reflux
- Difficulty swallowing
- Persistent nausea or vomiting
- Family history of gastrointestinal diseases
Additionally, individuals over the age of 50 should consider regular screenings for colorectal cancer, as the risk increases with age.
Conclusion
Regular gastro check-ups are essential for maintaining optimal digestive health and preventing serious gastrointestinal diseases from best gastro hospitals in Surat, like SIDS Hospital which is known for its doctors’ expertise in performing major laparoscopic surgeries and the best endoscopy in Surat.
