Breach imminent

Sherlock groans, shoving his phone between couch cushions and drawing a sleeping Rosie closer to him. 

'Bad news?' John asks from his chair. He looks over his reading glasses at where Sherlock is curled around his daughter, and feels affection sting so hard in his chest that he absently rubs at it.

'The worst,' Sherlock answers sullenly

John runs through the likely options in his head, then goes with his gut. 'Your parents are coming to town?'

Sherlock opens his eyes and stares at John, his expression full of surprise, then affection, then shammy casualness. 'I have been a good influence on your deduction skills, clearly.' 

John chuckles. 'That, or your brother advised me to clear my calendar and clean the flat.'

'Meddling queen,' Sherlock mutters into Rosie's hair. Then his phone pings again. 

I haven't told them.

John doubles down. 'He knows, I take it? About our… development?' 

'You are doing very well today.' 

'Feelings, Sherlock. I'm good at people and their feelings.'

'Yes, yes, that's why I keep you around. Of course he knows; I let him keep the surveillance up in the stairwell in exchange for having none in here.' 

'Ah.' John had suspected as much, though admittedly he had not considered it at the time of the first (very unplanned) tryst. 'Has he told your parents?' 

'Apparently not.' 

Silence stretches. They've come a long way, but John feels too keenly the risk/reward scenario here, and is undecided.

This time it's John's phone that pings. 

It's up to you, of course, but rest assured: they would be inordinately pleased.

John's eyebrow quirks. 'Your parents like me?' he finally says, going for casual but missing, and he knows it. 

'You're very likeable.'

'You know, from anyone else that would be a compliment.' 

Sherlock doesn't answer beyond a grunt. It's somehow safe to have this conversation in this arrangement, with the comforting stretch of the room and the gorgeous sleeping toddler between them. They're connected, but not so much as to overwhelm. 

'How much time have we got, do you reckon?' John asks, almost to the air.

'Far too little,' Sherlock grumbles.

'Right, but from you that could mean three months.'

'Yes, well, seeing as your birthday is in two weeks, but tis the season of primroses so they have to schedule us in between, I'm surmising it to be about three hours, in actuality.'

John snorts. 'That's a bit harsh.'

'No, no, they're beautiful primroses.'

'Hang on,' John says suddenly, running back through what Sherlock has said. 'They know when my birthday is?'

'Of course.'

'They care when my birthday is?'

'Don't be daft.'

'I'm trying, but they hardly know me. And what they know of me is not altogether flattering.'

'I said don't be daft.'

John can't stop a frustrated noise. 'Then explain it better.'

Sherlock opens his eyes, considers him for a moment, then he breaks eye contact and buries his nose in Rosie's hairline. 'They know of my affections for you. And that's enough for them.'

John's breath deserts him for a moment. 'Sherlock…'

'Don't let's make a big thing out of it, please.'

John wants to laugh. It's already literally the biggest thing in his life. 'Alright,' he says instead. 'But... let me be the one to tell them, yeah?'

Sherlock goes very still, not lifting his gaze. 'You'd be amenable to that?'

Sod this, it's been long enough. John shunts his reading glasses aside and stands, listening to his bones crick as he crosses and crouches in front of the two most important people in his orbit. 'Yeah, course.' He presses his lips against Rosie's forehead, then Sherlock's, without hesitation. 'Try and get rid of me.'

Sherlock finally, finally meets his eyes, and John feels so much he wants to tackle both of them and just cocoon for a little while. Tell the world to bugger off.

So, of course, there's a knock at the door. Sherlock groans, and Rosie's face scrunches up in the universal expression of, "How dare you wake me up, you rude creature."

'Three hours?' John says while scooping his daughter out of Sherlock's embrace. She needs a change. Maybe he should use that baby magic and let Sherlock's parents do it, he thinks with a grin.

'I am not in control of all variables, unfortunately,' Sherlock mutters into the sofa, where he's pressed his face.

John's mouth curves into a smirk as he heaves up (bloody hell, getting older is not for the weak) and turns towards the door. He wishes fleetingly that Sherlock was behind him, in solidarity if nothing else.

Then, suddenly, he is, his mouth pressing against Rosie's sleep-rumpled cheek over John's shoulder. He doesn't turn to John, but he doesn't have to. 'Into battle?'

John nods, then reaches for the door.

Monster high G3 rant

Watching the TV series and I’m kind of disappointed.

This will be my second watch of season 1, I’m rewatching after the current season 2 episodes.

the show feels very flat in my opinion. They’ve given the characters a lot of cool traits, but they’re used for like one episode and then never brought up, or they only use one specific trait 24/7. Like Frankie in this generation, they have the ability to electrocute, extend their body parts, and they get visions from the people they’re made out of. Specifically they get visions from this one recurring doctor/ scientist. The idea is cool, but the vision literally is there to give exposition about something conveniently. Like when they are trying to solve the puzzle of clawdeens mom, Frankie’s vision just conveniently tells them what to do and how to do it.

In that same episode, we see manny taur. A Minotaur character. And right away we are just told that he’s good at puzzle solving, and so is draculaura! They’re rivals! But this is the first time I’ve ever seen or heard about draculaura being into puzzles, let alone her one sided rivalry with manny. And as the episode ends, she’s like “well you can be the rightful puzzle master” but it feels so flat. There has been no build up to this moment.

Another example is lagoona. In her designated episode, she is rooting for torelai to win the fear-leading captain over draculaura (another thing that has no build up as to why it’s important to her) lagoona explains that torelai is holding a secret over her head, and if it gets out she will lose her status as the fiercest monster in school. But this is the first time we have heard this!! In previous episodes there’s no mention of her being scary or fierce. Or even her super fast swimming skills. It’s just brought up and glosses over with a “be who you are, it’s okay to like what you want! We all have secrets 🥹” but there’s no real character development.

My last example will be the way draculaura is presented in this series. From what she tells us, she has high standards to live up to as a vampire. She needs to look good for her day so she studies endlessly and is striving for perfection. But she also has a love for witchcraft, which is banned in monster high due to its connections to humans. This can be a cute premise, but they NEVER show draculaura compared to any other vampire to show how she’s supposed to act. They never give us episodes where she blows off her friend’s shenanigans because it makes her look bad, and they never really show her dad being so overbearing. They don’t show us WHY humans are hated. And even though witchcraft is banned, whenever anyone finds out about it they’re just cool with it? No push back or anything. The only character to challenge draculaura was torelai.

This all may be very nitpicky, but MH is a character driven franchise. Character relationships with each other and their surroundings are very important to me. I want to feel the so called pressure these characters are being put under. It doesn’t have to be ultra serious 24/7, but issues get resolved within one episode and then rehashed a few episodes later with no further development. Especially with characters like Cleo and lagoona. They have been benched as side characters in this show, and side characters get much worse treatment.

‘The general episode progression is like this - introduce an issue, introduce a high stakes situation that involves the school, have all or one of the main 3 engage in a sequence of fights against this issue(or rapid solving of said issue through convince) - issue is resolved and lesson is told to viewers-characters reset for the next episode.

I know this is a children’s show, but that doesn’t mean it needs to have bad writing, not all kids are high off cocomelon. Kids deserve good writing in their media!

Tokyo Revengers: Seasonal Flu

Hello my dust bunnies, today reading some medical notes about influence's vaccine I came up with this scenario in my head: tokyo revengers dads taking care of their sick babies, enjoy it!

Characters: Haruchiyo Sanzu, Izana Kurokawa, Rindou Haitani

Warnings: Fluff, Child Crying, Lot of Cuddles

Sanzu couldn't stand it, there was so much he was willing to do, he promised to, might kill even whoever decided to let his daughter cry, but what can a man do when his 3 years old daughter got the flu? You were currently out since you couldn't be absent from work anymore, working at home with Senju, Sanzu didn't mind taking care of Ayame until you were coming back. "Yeah yeah she's sleeping, I'm cooking her the sou-", a voice interrupts the call with you, turning around Sanzu finds his little girl, lucid blue eyes, pink starred pajama, blanket and her teddy bear on hand "Daddy" she mumbles wobbling towards him, tiny feet touching the cold floor make Sanzu wide his eyes "I'm calling you later, our princess woke up!" he says before saying you goodbye, "Princess, why are you up?" he says taking her up and cleaning her nose, "Daddy wasn’t in my room, I went looking for him" the h/c girl says gripping his hoodie, "Let's go you're going to eat something while daddy watches with you your favorite cartoon" her eyes wide, expression similar to her father's let Ayame shows her entire surprise, finally a smile on the sweet baby in a day full of pain for her little body.

“Y/N I’m not sure, Hiro seems to feel really bad, he’s coughing, crying and he has lucid eyes” Izana speaks on the phone pulling his long hair in exasperation, “Zana you have to calm down, no one is dead for a seasonal flu ok?” you say while rummaging through the documents in your office table, “Are you sure?” he says for the nth time, “Yeah Izana I’m sure” you reply raising your voice annoyed and continue “Let me speak with Hiro” and so the ex gangster walk with the softest walk towards the kid who’s looking tiredly to his dad, Hiro isn’t your biological son but for Izana it’s like he raised  the kid since he was an infant, that’s why with the most atypical calmness he comes closer to the toddler and give him the phone “Hey kid it’s your mama, she wants to know how you feel” he says with a smile caressing his forehead to feel it burning.

“Ma-mama” your son says sniffing a bit, “Hey baby, mama has something important to ask you” you say with a smile while hearing your husband grumble and your son nods with a smile looking at his father and letting him cuddle on his lap, “Do you want this bad virus to go away right?” you ask, waiting for your toddler’s reply and he nods “MH - YES MAMA!” He says almost convincing himself that he will feel better if he shouts it, “Then would you eat the green soup that helps feeling better and all your veggies to feel better?” you are tricking your son who gasps at your question, “No mama, no veggies please!”, Izana laughs hearing that your son he’s making a fuss over a simple cold and that’s why your husband takes the phone and ruffle your son’s hair, “Go to bed, you eat your veggies later” and before leaving his bedroom he looks at his son with a smile only meant for your small family. “You were right, love, you’re a great mother” he says making you giggle, “Maybe it’s time we think of giving Hiro a sister” he says with a smirk and you can only laugh “Maybe, but I already have 2 babies to take care of at home”.

“I’m not going to tell you another time” Rindou warns his son as soon as try to dodge the spoon he’s trying to give him for half an hour, “NO - NOO DADDY!” he shouts, dodging the spoon with the bitter medicine. Rindou sighs and with a scowl he looks at his smaller copy who suddenly sneeze on his hoodie, this wasn’t supposed to be the life Rindou imagined and with a look of disgust he cleans his hoodie, “Sayuri I’m not going to tell you again you take the medicine or I’m going to throw all your toys” he says trying to see if this threat works, “Mommy will buy them for me even if you do it, and she will scold you” he says with a smirk similar to his uncle Ran, “Do what the f- do whatever you want” and he stands up to go out of his son’s room huffing in disappointment, “Look at daddy struggling” Ran says teasing his brother, “Shut up!” he says a bit aggressively, frustrated from his son’s tantrum. 

“Now you know how it’s raising a kid” he says patting Rindou and helping preparing the breakfast for Sayuri, “I was a good kid, y/n spoils him and he doesn’t listen to me” Rindou says with a huff, “It’s not y/n, he’s just a kid, look” Ran says taking the syrup and putting it into his niece favorite glass and mix it with water, “How do you think I did with you?” he says before turning and hearing little feet padding on the floor, “Heyyy buddy look Uncle Rannie is here!” Ran shouts seeing a mop of blond hair sneezing and dirtying all around his pajama and blanket, “Uncle Rannie! Give me food!” he says and Ran smirking says “Cmon why don’t you ask your dad?” he says taking his son on his lap and cleaning his red nose, “Daddy doesn’t sing me the song” he says lowering his gaze “Cmon baby that was the problem? You should have asked me” Rindou says, taking his son and giving him the medicine before engulfing him in a warm hug.

how much abt the boys will change?? like ik the names, outfits, and really anything with ties to mh/crp will be severed, but will they retain (mostly) the same personalities in the rewrite?

Yes and no

The way I write personalities and people compared to og syg is so much different it's a little hard to say from a readers standpoint.

Some aspects of their personalities, histories, habits, and hobbies are either gone entirely, dimmed down, or amplified. For example in the original Tim drank but not excessively. Joe (Tim) is a high functioning alcoholic. This change was made because syg Tim felt like one but wasn't. One change that came purely out of being a new character is Apollo (toby) being meaner- of you want to compare he's closer to ycyd toby in that sense.

But the very very base of Toby sillyness, Brians cunning, Tim gruffness are all still there. We also wanted the same dynamic between them with a few tweaks that would make for better drama and story flow.

As for progress I'm working on the last 3 chapters of the first draft which has been slow going since it's finals season. Expect the book to end around the mid-30s of the og. It's likely to be a duology but we'll see.

I cried all over my husband like two hours ago because my brain finally processd why my mood has been so low and I have been struggling so much

I'm grieving

I'm grieving a lot of things

A lot of it is grieving the loss of my favourite seasons

This isn't about climate change (though that is a part of it) but autumn has always been mh favourite season and the last several years I've been kinda fighting really hard mentally for it to remain that way even though that's no longer true

The space between September 1st and December 31st was, for a large part of my life, my favourite time of the year. I love Halloween and my birthday and Christmas!

I love the food and the scents and the atmosphere

It was when it was colder but usually not too cold and I was happy

But for a good chunk of time it's not been great

I have had 3 beloved family members die between the end of August and Christmas

September and October are the most stressful times of the year because it's my husband's busy period and a rough transition time for Kiddo when it comes to school and that's a lot

The cold and damp hit me hard around mid November through the end of February so I'm just in more and more physical pain as we get closer to Christmas. And that's on a good year. On a bad year like this one I've been battling a lot of health issues since September. The new health issues plus the yearly increase in pain means I am exhausted and unable to do much

So my previous favourite time of the year is now filled with stress and pain

And I still enjoy the actual holidays and my birthday but not the time in between anymore

And I felt guilty because my inlaws want us to stay with them for two nights over Christmas and I don't know if I can because I am struggling with pain so much right now

And I'm grieving people, the loss of my favourite season and the loss of everything else my disabilities have taken from me

I have lost so many things that made me happy and it makes me feel like it's my fault some how and it makes me afraid to be happy. It makes me afraid that the few things I have left that bring me happiness will be taken away

It makes me feel like I'm not allowed happiness

Logically I know that's not true but it feels true too often

I'm really just ranting here but I'm not doing great right now and I think this is why

Hello everyone it's drew here, mh headphones are currently broken and I can't voiceover things for now :,) so instead have some FunNy text! Anyway tysm to everyone who watched my last metal family analysis, through it was barely any people at all it still was amazing to have the opportunity to make that video to explore the metal family universe and all the beautiful citizens within it, now onto the video

Who heavy is and his character:

Heavy metal is the youngest son of glam and victoria metal, he has ginger hair, green eyes, and tanned skin, he dresses in a familiar way to the rest of his family with darker clothing and is typically seen with band tee shirts and cuffs on his wrists, Despite the dark clothing his face personality is bubbly and optimistic, he's seen as the golden child of the family for his cuteness and his golden heart, he also is my favorite metal family character lol

Brief summary of episode:

Its heavys 14 birthday, his parents give him a pair of piercings as a family tradition and to celebrate heavy growing older, heavy however is afraid to do so due to having a fear of needles, his family indirectly peer pressures him to go through with it regardless, he faints, then wakes up with his new brow piercings while in the car with his family. He relaxes upon realizing he has his mothers approval and the episode ends

This analysis purpose:

So, I've been wanting to discuss this for a while, as I'm sure most of us know the fandom has acknowledged dee and his father glam have family issues, with Dee feeling like a failure and forcing himself to be hyper independent and with glam calling Dee a disgrace and even not backing down but actually confirming that being his true thoughts in his qna, but I'm not focusing on that today actually, today we'll be focusing on heavy and Victoria, my hypothesis is that heavy and Victoria also have similar issues to glam and Dee, I believe heavy heavily (ha get it) idolizes his mother to an intense level, and desperately wants and craves her love and approval where I've harvested this idea from and I believe to even confirm my thoughts

Moments where heavy showed his desperateness for approval n it's meaning::

Since it's our main focus for this video, let's focus on season 2 EP 4 first off, the whole episode high lights heavy and Victorias interactions and relationship, with her being the one to call him down for breakfast, with heavy being sadden and dissatisfied by Dee telling him that she left dye to heavy aggravating her (which we find out is a lighthearted prank in which Victoria jumps out the closet to hug heavy, again, she's the one to hug him specifically) we see continuously in this episode and out that he always looks at her first for reassure, because to heavy she is the most important, ofc he loves his father too, but it honestly seems clear to me just how Victoria is heavys favorite parent with how much he wishes to be like her, that or he acts similar to her in order to get her attention, like how in his qna he stated how once he gets all “big and strong” he'll fight back on his bullies, and in Victorias and she states that one time heavy helped her in the car shop, and how he dropped the oil and burned his hands, Victoria seems unphased by the fact heavy was crying and in pain and said how he's actually not allowed to help in there anymore, We see in episode 3 of season 1 that Victoria will often get into fights with even just slight aggravation from others who bother her, and we see in episode 2 how heavy does the same, now its possible it's just a family connidence but I believe its also likely that heavy gets into fights on purpose to try and impress Victoria? Just a small suggestion, in episode 4 (of season 1) when heavy cried and asked himself what was wrong with him, Victoria however just told him to quiet, in season 1 episode 8 when victoria is at the bar we can see heavy go there and be able to get through the crowd to talk to her, we can see him smiling and being happy to see his mom until she starts yelling at him due to annoyance both of the current situation she's in with the betting and heavy being at the bar interrupting her, we can see his mood worsen as she gets increasingly upset, this shows just how optimistic he is and how quickly his mood can be brought down, something that I've noticed too is how heavy isn't scared or frightened, which sure might SEEM good doesn't seem so when you take into account the fact Victoria always yells around the house likely and probably does have angry outbursts towards her children too, we've seen again and again heavy desperately wanting Victoria to be proud of him, in the same episode heavy says “what if someone spends the last of their money?” Which can easily be a reference to him losing in the poker game back in episode 4, Victoria responds by saying “then their an idiot! And I have no sympathy for idiots” look at heavys face, this clearly was heavy, in a very indirect way asking what'd she think if he was like those dumb gamblers back the the bar, not to mention, notice how Victoria says that person would be an idiot?.... Heavys main nickname by Dee, his older brother, IS. IDIOT. “IDIOT BROTHER” “IDIOT” ?!!! ITS AS CLEAR AS DAY!

Random thoughts+rant:

Basically in summary I believe that heavy is desperate and aches for victorias approval, we see how he acts towards his mother in all the episodes, how much he inspires to be strong like her, and to get her love and approval, instead of her constant jokes at his expense, I mean, Victoria even wanted him to get pierced, which he absolutely did not want, but he went through with it in order to appease her, he was so afraid of needles he FAINTED from it, he speaks loudly like her, he does things in order to gain her approval, he wants his mother's love, he wants her attention, he just wants be rewarded, and feel earned, the look he gives her at the end, his tired eyes, his miserable face, he clearly is so drained, so so tired, heavy keeps fiending for her word, her request, he needs it, the desire for encouragement is never ending for him, he's a child that wants so desperately to be seen by his mother, honestly, i can even draw parallels from him and Victorias relationship to Che's and his mother's, with how strong they both fight for their mothers comfort and love, how they both need to fight, they feel they need to fight the world for their mothers, ofc heavys is a lighter issue with just having more casual mental issues with needing to make his mother proud, veruses ches feeling like he needs to protect his mother and keep her safe before she passed, overall I wanted to get this video out before the new episode because I've been wanting to talk about heavys mommy issues for a while now, I find it interesting how when he thinks his mother will notice he acts more tough and mature but when alone like with life and Dee he's chill, happy go lucky, and alot nicer, and this was all a very brief recap of what I've seen and noticed from heavy and Victorias dynamic, if anyone has anything to point out or their own theories, please comment down below! Its amazing to see others own analyses on things

all these characters are so amazing and complex, I've had other thoughts about what to make videos of, like Dee potentially being a self harmer, to go into detail with glam and his own intrusive thoughts and tendencies, Victorias potential past and so much more, I'd really appreciate any support given from these videos I make, I love sharing my creativity and using symbolism and connecting patterns to create new ideas and theories, I adore metal family with my whole heart and can't wait for new episodes, may Alina and Dina be blessed with their productions, and I wish everyone watching this, a good morning, evening, or night, peace out

Monster Hunter Tri Diary, Part 8: Lovely Ludroth at the beach & visit from the Argosy

Disclaimer: Text is paraphrased from my localization and might slightly deviate from the English version.

Quest: No love for Ludroth

Since we're not in danger of encountering any large monsters for now, I donned my good old Leather armor again. The skills it has are quite good for gathering, and even when I'm doing a slay quest, I like to pick up some items along the way.

Our client is a former caravan leader - emphasis on "former", since he apparently wanted to pet some Ludroth and is pissed that he got fired because the Ludroth gave him a slap in the face. As compensation, he wants me to give them a few slaps back. So basically, I'm killing monsters for some guy's personal vendetta - well, I guess I'm getting paid for it...

And the Guild Sweetheart is there again, contacting us once more with her telepathic skills and giving us a brief introduction to Urgent Quests: "An Urgent Quest has to be done IMMEDIATELY!" (Sort of ironic though, since you can actually take your sweet time completing an Urgent Quest.)

"Your target this time is a water monster: the Ludroth. It might be a bit stronger than what you're used to." Oh, trust me: You don’t know what I'm used to. xD

Now you're only getting 3 first aid-meds and 2 mini whetstones from the supply box. No more greenhorn coddling - shit's getting real now.

I just got an Insect Husk as a shiny drop from an Altaroth. Biggest disappointment ever.

Anyway, going to area 10, the ladies are already waiting for us, with their sleek green skin and slender amphibian bodies. xD (Ludroth are one of the monsters that are canonically female; according to their description, they form "harems around large males" during breeding season, so I'm guessing the caravan leader was just passing through the area at a particularly bad time.)

The noises Ludroth make actually kinda sound like those of seals. xD (Can you blame the caravan leader for wanting to pet them? He probably heard them and went like "oh, cuddly sea doggos ^^".)

Man, those people weren't kidding - the Ludroth really do hit hard (especially when you're wearing a Leather armor with minimum protection). Good thing I packed my extra potions.

Once again, you can see how they recycled the monsters' movesets here: The Ludroth have the same attack patterns as the Lagiacrus; the same slide and snap attacks on land, and the same charge and snap attacks underwater. (The devs probably did this to save space, since making individual animations for each monster would've taken up too much time, but it's still quite funny.)

One Ludroth just killed her own sister. xD Well, fratricide also exists among Ludroth, I guess.

In the end, I had to use one potion to heal myself, in addition to the first aid-meds I got from the box. You could probably do it with just the first aid-meds in a challenge though, if you pay a little more attention to dodging than I did.

I also managed to kill one additional Ludroth and carve a Monster Bone S just before the "Quest Completed" screen popped up. Always try to squeeze the most rewards out of it, I say. ^^

Moga Village (night)

The Argosy is in town! Wohoo! (I always loved the Argosy theme - it's so awesome!)

The Argosy seems to have her own crest: an anchor in tribal style with two monster heads at each end, seen on the sail.

The Argosy Captain speaks with an accent (at least in my localization), which is sort of endearing. Also, since whatever we and the people of Moga are speaking obviously isn't the Captain's native tongue, that must mean there are multiple languages in the MH world.

The Captain calls himself a "giant from the Far East". This is interesting because according to the canon MH map, the country of Shiki, which has a large population of Wyverians and generally a Japanese flair (being believed to be the place where the villages of Yukumo and Cathar are located), actually lies in the west. With the Argosy Captain being a Wyverian and also having Japanese vibes, I'm surprised he doesn't hail from there. Maybe there's another Wyverian country on the other side of the globe? (Alternatively, it might be just Capcom mixing up their own geography.) EDIT: Nope, I've got it mixed up myself. Shiki is in the east of the MH world, as you can see on the map on this page. That actually makes it highly likely the Captain hails from there.

The Argosy comes to Moga because there are some rare goods around here (particularly from monsters, which you get from slaying them in the Moga Woods), and these commodities fetch a good price overseas. This implies the world of Monster Hunter has quite a vast trade network.

The Captain occasionally throws his own vocabulary into his dialogue (sometimes including translations), and since I had a feeling these were Japanese words, I took the time to check. In the cases where the Captain provides a translation, I could confirm that kōkan ("exchange"), purezento ("present", derived from the English word), kōen ("park"), and shōnin ("approval") are indeed Japanese words. This also goes for the cases where no translation is provided, such as "What is your Youken?" (yōken literally translating to "requirement", so it would mean "What do you require?"/"What do you need?"), "Kyakka!" (meaning "rejected") after explaining there won't be a deal if your commodities are worth less than his, and "De wa, sea wind is calling!" (I actually knew this one myself, since dewa is sort of a formal farewell in Japanese; if you say "dewa mata ashita" to someone, it would mean "Well then, until tomorrow!") So, the Argosy Captain is definitely speaking Japanese.

I can get Mega Harpoons from the Captain. I wonder what those are for, though; Mega Bugnets and Pickaxes don't break as fast as the normal ones, but since harpoons seemingly don't break, I wonder why you'd even need a mega version?

What does a Saturnian Trap do again? Well, I guess the only way to find out is by trying...

So, I got myself a Mega Harpoons and one Saturnian Trap from the Captain, just to see what they do - plus a Firefly, since I could still afford it with the goods I traded.

The Captain says Moga Village is far away from the city, so contact with the Guild isn't a walk in the park. I guess that's why it took them so long to respond. (If you want to give them the benefit of a doubt and assume they weren't straight up ignoring us.)

He also says the sweetheart behind the quest counter deserves to earn more for the hard work she's doing! Completely agree, mate.

"Humans die, but trade lives forever!" That's actually not untrue - even if a person dies, the world around them continues to live on, and as long as there's humanity, there will also be trade.

And we meet yet another fellow who came with the Argosy: The wandering Felyne cook who is apparently French (judging by his accent) and has quite a lot of trouble dealing with sea sickness, promptly throwing up once he's on firm ground. xD

"A cook of my caliber belongs in a kitchen that isn't always shaking!" Honestly, buddy, I can relate - I'm also anything but seaworthy.

"Your Chief has allowed me to stay here; in return, I offered my services. I offer extraordinary culinary art! Mein food is good for your health, attack, and more!" My friend, you are hired - I would never turn down any Felyne cook who gives me these sweet food effects. :-)

If I'm not mistaken, this is also the first time they introduced the cooking method as an additional factor; back in Freedom Unite, it was just dependent on the ingredients and what skills the Felyne cooks came with. Our cook first has to prepare his canteen though, so I suppose we'll have to do one hunt before we can enjoy his culinary skills.

"Felyne tongues are very sensitive to taste, and mine twice as much!" Ah, is that why Felynes are so often employed as cooks? (Not that I want to encourage it, but you would expect people to have prejudices about "hairs in the food" when Felynes do the cooking; this actually provides a reasonable explanation for the abundance of Felyne cooks.)

"Others flatter you with words, I with food!" Well, I think I prefer the food - at least it has substance and doesn't just consist of hot air.

"I may be wearing clothing from the Far East, but I'm multilingual! Between the bouts when my food flew over the Argosy's railing, I learned your language from the Captain." So, the Felyne cook also has a different native tongue - however, he doesn't speak Japanese like the Argosy Captain. So, are there multiple languages in the Far East? (It would be a bit unusual for people there to speak French, though.) Then again, he might not actually hail from there, and the clothes were simply given to him by the Captain.

Village Chief: "The Argosy is our connection to the outside world." Given how often they've mentioned how remote Moga is, I wonder where it's located in the MH world - it certainly sounds like you have to make half a world cruise to get there.

"The Argosy's Captain is a rich merchant from the Far East. I know him way longer than I would admit. Back then, we were young and carefree. I've saved his life countless times, and he did the same for me." Dang, now I really want to know the backstory of the Village Chief and the Argosy Captain. (Knowing the Chief once was a hunter, did they meet during his hunting career? Could it be that the Captain also has some hunting experience, given he wields a Long Sword?)

"We have an agreement that the Argosy docks here in regular intervals. Trade with other countries is equally beneficial for our village as a strong hunting fleet or a productive farm." I’d believe that, since it’s literally the only way they can get items they can’t produce themselves. I wonder what the commodities from Moga are used for in foreign countries, though - I could imagine that scales, fangs, horns are in high demand for making accessories.

"The Captain may be my friend, but he's also a businessman. A good relationship changes nothing about the prizes." Gotta give the Captain credit for being fair, though - just because you're buddies with him doesn't mean you get stuff for free.

The Argosy Captain tells us he’s also agreed to the Felyne cook’s decision to stay in Moga. Apparently, even the Captain sympathized with his troubles. As he puts it: "Learn recipe, try recipe, throw up recipe. Tragic tale!" xD

The Argosy Captain also informs us that he formerly worked in a first-rate restaurant in the city. I take it the Felyne cook once worked in Loc Lac, then?

The Argosy Captain even hands me a coupon from the cook's old restaurant, telling me to redeem it in the canteen. I'm honestly surprised the coupon is still valid, since the cook's restaurant in the city probably has been closed for quite some time. xD

There is also a sailor from the Argosy walking around in the village, but he speaks even more broken than the Captain. From what I can gather though, Moga is special because it's always the first stop on their travels, which makes it like a second home to him. That’s actually kinda sweet. :-)

"Ask why the Captain speak your language so good?" Well, I can understand him better than you, at least. xD (Then again, whatever language they're speaking here is probably hard for them to learn, so I'm gonna give them some credit here.)

"Language learning important to... how you say? Fry horizons?" I get what you mean, but you might want to practice these idioms again... ^^'

The Chief's Son is actually making gestures to the sailor, beckoning him to transport the discharged cargo to the stockpile. Nice touch - I love these kinds of interactions between NPCs.

Btw, the Chief's Son informs me they want to build an insect box at the farm. I have juuust enough resources to do that, in addition to the 1 Monster Fluid you need for it. (Good thing I picked up the materials from those Giggis. ^^)

The smith compliments me on my success with the Ludroth hunt, introducing me to his newest creation he invented in the meantime: charms! If I'm not mistaken, Tri is the first game in the series to have charms (at least they weren't in Freedom Unite). For starters, he gives me the good old standard Autoblock talisman. Since I'm wielding a Great Sword at the moment, this might even come in handy.

"Making changes to armor isn't a cakewalk, so mind what you eat, tubby!" Hey, I'm not that fat, okay? (I can kinda see his point, though. xD)

Meanwhile, the item vendor is happy that business is going much better due to the Argosy stopping by again. (I guess that might have avoided Moga for a time because of the earthquake?) As such, she has decided to give a 50% discount on everything as long as the Argosy is in town. Excellent opportunity for me to stock up on some stuff.

One thing that's exempt from the discount, however, are the Books of Combos. No way to get the most expensive items a little cheaper, I guess.

"Cool Drinks clear the mind and help against the heat. Cool!" Oh no, now the item vendor also has taken lessons from the gossip lady! The disease of silly puns is spreading, guys! xD

Big Brother: "Mom says big monsters are so loud that they roar holes into your ears. But I've already GOT holes in my ears! So nothing can happen to me!" Big brother being a fountain of wisdom as always. xD

Guild Sweetheart: "Hunter, did you see? The Argosy is here! Well, how could you have not seen her... She's gigantic!" Yep, a ship that's longer than the whole pier is pretty hard to miss... ^^'

"The Argosy is a trading vessel. It's part of the village life in Moga ever since I can remember." Sounds like the deal between the Argosy Captain and the Village Chief has been going on for a long time, probably since the Chief took over. Also, from the line above, you learn that the Guild Sweetheart is not merely an employee of the Guild who was sent to Moga, but actually one of the locals.

Apparently, the higher-ups of the Guild were so impressed by how I handled the Ludroth quest that they've given me permission to hunt in a whole new area: the Sandy Plains! According to the Guild Sweethearts monster guide, it's a "dry region, known for high temperatures and monster hordes". Well, if that doesn't sound inviting.

Also, we've got our first quest to hunt a big monster: the Great Jaggi! Yay! (Among the dinosaur-like bird wyverns, the Great Jaggi is sort of my secret favorite. xD)

Guild Sweetheart: "Quests! Read them and cry." What a motivating preface! xD (Though it’s kinda true once you get to the later quests.)

"Mud from the Sandy Plains is excellent for beauty masks, you know. I’ve heard that there are monsters hiding in the mud. I bet they got clean pores and NO pimples. Enviable!" Well, once I meet Barroth, I'll make sure to ask him about his beauty routine. xD

"During my training in the city, I was discovered as an actress! You're hanging around with an almost-star! Lucky you!" So, I take it the Sweetheart was born in Moga, but went to Loc Lac for education. I wonder what she was supposed to act in, though. xD

"Don't hunt yourself to death, would ya?" I'll try not to. :-)

My Chamberlyne also tells me about furnishings, and that I should buy some from the Argosy Captain to decorate my room. I’d like to, but I don’t have any rare commodities right now; I do know, however, that you get them from slaying large monsters during Moga Woods hunts. (I’d first have to unlock the Great Jaggi for that though, and that’s not gonna happen until I did the Guild quest.)

Speaking of which, since I have used up all my resource points for the insect box upgrade, I'm gonna have to make a trip to the Moga Woods anyway, to stock up some resources. So, we'll do that first, and then we'll start off with the level 2 quests.

I like Robin in canon, specifically season 3. (I am not huge fan of her in season 4 and for some reason the airiness of the actress's voice just bugs me) But I found her character interesting in season 3.

And then I came to fandom. Specifically, her and Steve's relationship as portrayed in fandom. People see them as codependent and really close and I struggle to wrap my head around that. Do I see them as close friends? Yes. But I see them more as me and my friend, where they're good friends and talk almost every day but aren't codependent on each other. And it's also the superiority with their favorite pairing of characters being platonic, if that makes sense. Like they see Platonic Stobin as the best ship for Steve and I hate it when people do it in general, like when they say that Jancy is the best ship or Stancy or Steddie. Like yes, some would make more sense canonically but sometimes people don't like ships for various reasons. But with Platonic Stobin, it feels like they are untouchable because they are a platonic relationship vs all the romantic ones.

ngl I was doomed to dislike Robin from the start. I don't like any of the main characters or major secondary characters introduced post-S2. S3 is my least favorite season of the series, and both Robin and Erica were involved in the plotline I think had the most bullshit premise, so I'm just painfully indifferent to both of them lmao So, yeah, I never cared for Robin. And it really rubbed me the wrong way that they had Robin rant about how much of an asshole Steve was after he woke up from being beaten unconscious like wtf???

(listen if we needed Russian soldiers in S3, I would have adored new deputy!steve and Hopper having a run in with a small group of soldiers or something. That would have been more interesting than a full scale invasion under the mall but I'm not going to get into how shit that plot point is)

I'm also kind of meh about MH as an actress. It just kind of seems like she tends to play herself, from what little I've seen. There's not much range to her performances imo

Fandom definitely ruined Steve and Robin as friends for me though. I hate the "codependency" angle. I don't see the whole "platonic soulmates" thing. They're just normal friends who went through something traumatic together. And they weren't even really friends when that happened. The show kind of makes it seem like they'd been coworkers forever, but Dustin congratulated Steve on getting the job at Scoops after he came back from camp, so Steve and Robin had only been working together for like... a month. At most. And it doesn't seem like they hang out outside of work in S3. Their friendship really is nonexistent in S3 outside of Steve saying he's laughed more in the last month than in a long time (even though all they have is teasing but vaguely-antagonistic banter)???

The whole "platonic ship is inherently better than a romantic one" argument is also one I don't care for. Like... Steve has already had platonic relationships. In S1 he was friends with Tommy and Carol and the show never implies that Steve is only friends with Carol because he wants to fuck her, if the point of Stobin was to be "boys and girls can just be friends!" He has platonic friendships with the kids that could have been developed more. We could have had more interactions between Steve and Jonathan. Or Steve and Hopper. Or they could have kept Tommy and Carol around and actually developed that friendship.

Neither platonic nor romantic relationships are inherently better than the other. All that matters if is how that relationship is nourished on screen, and I simply do not find Stobin to be as deep as the show and fandom want me to believe.

(Like, unpopular opinion I guess, but I wish they had introduced a new love interest for Steve at some point that wasn't a surprise bait and switch. I would have rather seen Steve move on from Nancy completely, than put up with whatever the hell the Duffers were doing in S4.)

Aoi: (Just a few more days until the sketch battle! I want everyone to be fully prepared for the challenge, so I'll ask everyone to check what they need as soon as possible.)

(Still, I'm hearing about the sketch battle all over town, too. Not so long ago, there would have been little interest in a sketch competition being held… That's how much art has permeated Palette City. If only we could keep this up and make it more exciting…!)

Michelangelo: …

Aoi: (Ah, it's Michelangelo-kun. It looks like he's painting today, not sculpting. That's unusual, since most of the time he works in his room or in the atelier…)

Michelangelo: … Heh, guess it's somethin' like this.

Aoi: Hello, Michelangelo-kun.

Michelangelo: Ah, director.

Aoi: I see you're painting outside today.

(He's starting to get out of his room more than before, which is probably a good trend.)

The scenery changes with the seasons and it's a nice change of pace. It's good to paint outside.

Oh no need to apologize lmao i'm about to make this post even longer <3

I think a lot about the fact that Brian and Jay - who seem to be the characters who are the most "on the outskirts" of MH, more 'passive' in contrast to characters like Tim and Alex - are really the ones who actually do so much to shape the narrative of the series and alter the way the action unfolds without making a lot of Visible moves on camera.

I've posted before about how Jay's editing of Season One potentially does a lot to alter the audience's perception of Alex; but there's even more to be said about Brian's impact on Alex's character. Really, most if not all of the "Alex is evil and lying" interpretation of events is based off of the totheark videos constantly asserting that this is the case. totheark claims that Alex manipulated the footage to tell a certain story, they insist that Alex was deliberately culpable for the events that unfolded, that Alex is still actively watching Jay and ready to do it all over again - but despite what he claims, Brian doesn't actually know as much as he thinks he does. The reveal about Tim's character and the fact that Brian was the one caught most off guard about it is proof enough of that.

I've also posted about how I think Jay's stalking behavior does a lot to push Alex to the brink - actions that go entirely minimized by the series because Jay is the one who can edit months of daily stalking down into a 20 second clip or a brief title card. Jay's own paranoid striving for answers is to me a big proponent of why Season Two devolves the way it does, but one still has to wonder if he would have been so suspicious of Alex if totheark hadn't been repeatedly insisting that Alex was guilty. Even if you disregard the potential that Alex wasn't lying, it still feels pretty obvious that Jay's stalking is what causes the sudden, rapid devolution of the final part of Season 2 - would he have been more willing to give Alex the benefit of the doubt if he hadn't internalized totheark's bias?

Of course, this all said without even getting into the reality that "getting help" in Marble Hornets is an essentially fruitless endeavor, given that nothing we see in canon does anything to Prove that there are tangible ways to Defeat or Overcome the Operator's influence. Even if Alex had acted "appropriately" scared or guilty or whatever it was other characters wanted from him, there's no indication that things would have turned out different, let alone Better, than they did. Ultimately, Marble Hornets is a series where everyone Thinks they're doing the Right Thing, that they're the only one making the Right Move, but in actuality none of them are making good decisions because they simply don't have any of the information that would inform their ability to make the Right Choice. Or, as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern put it "there is no choice involved. The bad end unhappily, the good unluckily. That is what tragedy means."

actually it's kind of funny how people will say Alex's fatal flaw is that he 'doesn't ask for help' and that it's his determination to handle things on his own that leads to his deterioration and eventual death when his whole introduction to the present-day timeline was a very literal cry for help that simply went ignored

The soft chirping of the birds woke you up. You stirred lightly, a smile coming across your lips as you felt the soft lavender scent over your young husband skin. You slept holding hands, your forehead against his chest as your eyes got used to the bright light outside the window.

The soft cotton sheets clung around your naked bodies along with some heavier quilted duvet, legs tangled as he breathed slowly still deep into his slumber.

You observed him into his simplest nature, he looked so much younger when asleep, his features perfect as kissed by the gentle morning light.

You slowly moved your hand away, he frowned but with time you mastered the art of leaving the bed without awakening him. He huffed, face buried into the pillows as he rolled onto his stomach covering the warm spot you left. Your hand gently onto his soft hair caressing them away from his face. The time seemed to be something unknown to you.

After adjusting the covers over his shoulder you shivered into your nakedness, your hands grasping onto your white nightdress pulling it over you to cover your frame before adding up a burgundy cardigan belonging to Andrea to protect you against the goosebumps your body suffered for leaving the warm comfort of his presence.

You stepped into the kitchen quietly, breathing in the soft smell of a new day. Your hands went immediately to unveil the dough that was covered by a cloth and you left to raise during the night, it was now ready to be baked and you’ll have your warm bread for the day. Andrea spent the day before picking up the mature fruits from your trees, so it was easy to wash them and cut them while you put on the pot for your morning tea.

You hummed softly a song that Andrea was rehearsing with his violin for few days, now helplessly stuck with you, your hands unveiling the pie you prepared the day before cutting some slices.

Before anything else you moved away going to your garden standing barefoot onto the cold stone of the steps, you hugged yourself enjoying the view before slipping on some comfortable shoes and settling the table. The summer day was amazing and the morning breeze made the heat unnoticeable. A white table cloth with fresh flowers and then your started going back and forth from the kitchen to the garden bringing dishes and plates

You blinked surprised as little Anthony, the 14 years old son of the local baker, passed by with his bike waving at you. He blushed as you just looked so calm and relaxed.

“Got the mail and the newspaper Mrs Marowski” he said as he hopped off his bike to hand it to you. You picked one of the peaches you got into a basket nearby handing it to him I return “Thank you Anthony, have a good day”

He smiled and nodded vehemently as he rushed off back to his duties.

You looked down onto the mails: an invite to a concert in London, something from your parents, something in polish coming from Andrea’s family and a voluminous yellow envelope that was coming from Andrea's favourite music shop in London and by the weight you could tell it was some new music sheets. Also a note from your seamstress telling you that the new winter coats need the last fittings.

You were about to check the first page of the newspaper as a loud meowing made you jump.

Andrea was standing in front of you, soft khaki pants with a loose white shirt, your cat draped onto him, a beautiful grey British short hair who was staring at you.

“Did Laszlo woke you up?”

“Did you doubt it?” Andrea asked with a chuckle as he leaned closer to you, a kiss resting onto your lips as the cat jumped off his arm.

“I hate to wake up on an empty bed, even if your table setting is the best” he assured as he smiled at you tangling you into another kiss.

“Mh, the tea” you just reminded yourself as he chuckled 

“One more, one more” he begged between chuckles stealing another kiss before letting you go inside and he proceeded to give the annoying boss of your cat the food he deserved and demanded.

He sat on the chair enjoying the soft breeze as you brought a small tray with the tea to complete the set up.

He hummed softly opening the package coming from London gleefully as he admired his new music sheets.

“Your presence is required to see a new concert, I think they want to show off to have you as solo violin” you said showing him the invitation while sitting with him. He admired you, he stared at you with a soft smile “I will have to hear my agent first” he said as he meant you. You always had a good gut feelings and often kept him from taking random impulsive decisions.

“There’s something from your family too” you added and he smirked 

“You read it first” he said as he was helping you with polish and you sighed softly using one of your butter knives to open the letter. His hand quickly went to your cookies taking one happy bite as he still stared at the music on paper.

His eyes darting up only to look at you focused onto the paper scribbled by his parents and you nodded explaining to him a letter that was mostly about every day updates

“This word” you signalled as he leaned in lightly in to read it as there was only one point you didn’t seem to grasp not even by the words before or after it.

He chuckled loudly almost chocking onto the crumbles covering his mouth with the back of his hand.

“What?”

You asked as he blushed deeply.

“Oh no, they hated my knit work? Is it that?”

He shook his head as you frowned at him waving that letter expecting an answer before your mind went onto the worried train of thoughts.

“It means” he licked his lips, eyes shining “It means pregnancy, not literally it is a more discreet way to say it, more like expecting something, but they mean that, my mum wants to know when she can call herself grandmother”

You blushed deeply as you looked down, you are such a young couple and you’re actually enjoying this phase, now it is not like every little delay of your period didn’t make your heart do the backflips, but to be asked so directly felt weird.

“Don’t worry about it, she means it in a good way, they adore you and they keep saying how you brought some sense into me”

He smiled taking your hand gently kissing the back of it.

“We have Laszlo for now it is more than enough” he joked to light you up and you giggled “Indeed” you said as you looked around finding the cat running after some butterflies. Andrea always complained that Laszlo hated him, Laszlo was your cat even before the polish man came into your life, but truth to be told they were best buddies: the cat would always check where he was and Andrea was the first to always feed him.

“I was thinking we could go to town today, I promised Ursula to play for her tea party with some friends coming all the way from Edinburgh and maybe we can go past the bookshop and buy some flour and whatever else. I could plant some pumpkin seeds, I love your velvety pumpkin cream for autumn”

You smiled as he really can’t wait for the colder season even if that meant to see you more dressed and clothed he also loved to nuzzle with you in front of the fire.

“Agreed” you said and he smiled proudly as you handed him the letter from your family and he sighed softly but proceeded to read it like you did with his.

He was way better at English, but mostly spoken English, he still hated to read and you picked books for him too even if he always puppy eyed you into reading for him.

He read quietly the letter as you ate some pie. He frowned lightly as he spelled out loud some words, sometimes he did it to learn the difference from a word that he knows and how it was written.

When you both drank your tea and he finally indulged into the local news he hushed you to get dressed “You take the longest to get ready, I’ll clean up” he said winking at you making you huff and roll your eyes playfully.

So you did, you went to wash yourself and braided your hair into an updo hairstyle, a light white dressy shirt and a long pleaded skirt for you as you also prepared the clothes for him.

As you redid your bed and he walked inside after clearing up the kitchen you couldn’t help but adore him into his little routines, the way he shaved and got prepared, the way he wore the clothes you figured out for him with happy delight. He loved how you looked after him, he felt loved, the small attentions like that one put him at rest, he relaxed and he felt babied and he loved it.

He picked the case of his violin handing it to you using it to pull you closer and steal another kiss. You chuckled as he leaned in to kiss you again, and again, and once more.

“Andrea” you whispered as he chuckled softly kissing you once again, he smelled so good, his skin soft and perfumed thanks to his aftershave oil.

How could you resist him?

“Two minutes” you whispered leaning back down the violin over your vanity to be able to wrap your arms around his neck letting out a soft yelp as he fell over you on the bed.

Useless to say that it wasn’t two minutes and not even twenty, your trembling legs around him and the way you guided him to give you just what you wanted from him always drove him crazy.

After a short nap you really had to begin to get going, he helped you to dress up slowly zipping up your skirt and you had a new rush of pleasure just by buttoning up his shirt covering his chest peppered with hickeys.

You locked the house and he pulled out his black bike putting the violin box in the basket on the front along with your white one “I prefer when we go with one” he complained but you chuckled “yes, but if we buy few things we will have to go by walking” you made him notice and he sighed nodding.

He waited for you as you pedalled your way to the town centre, he was swaying in front of you and you raced a bit against each other until the stone bridge that welcomed you there.

“See you at Ursula’s” you said and he nodded leaning in to kiss you one more time, he indulged into that kiss a littlest as he opened his eyes slowly, a smile playing over his lips.

“My wife” he said, sometimes he repeated it like he had to remind himself. You chuckled as you kissed his cheek and you go parted.

You knew Ursula liked to pared Andrea off, you let her do it, she came with time to like you, she saw how much good you did to Andrea, how much balance you gave to him, his behaviour was stable, he settled down.

You stopped to the local grocery store taking up some spices, some cinnamon in particular as you knew how much Andrea loved it on sweets, few little cooking and baking items you missed and then off to the bookstore.

“Hello hello” you said as the old man there greeted you “The books you ordered arrived” he said as he moved his shaky legs into the back of the shop bringing you the easy books in polish you ordered to practice some reading. You smiled looking at them as Andrea gave you the titles of books that made his youth and also few new ones for him. You added to that stock a new cooking book and few novels for Andrea and his English. The old man was the sweetest, he kept the booster open no matter the weather and politics and he always made sure to find anything you might be looking for.

He helped you tie all your buyings together onto the bike so after paying you just pushed it walking through the town, just enjoying a good time around giving yourself time until you made it to Ursula’s home.

Well, you called Ursula’s but Janet as always there even if her presence was always quieter you teamed up with her most of the time letting Ursula enjoy her time with Andrea.

You smiled stopping in your track as you heard the soft sound of the violin, you closed your eyes breathing in, like you could enjoy the music through the air.

You adjusted your dress and smiling to yourself, the moment sinking in slowly.

Your husband, your life, the idea of coming back home together, cuddle on the couch, listen to his words, having his honey eyes on you.

A natural smiled appeared on your lips.

After few moments you decided to keep going, you pulled your bike  letting it rest against the fence, Janet appearing at the doorstep to welcome you in.

Your perfect day.

damn thank you for indulging me 👉👈 i'd love nothing more so:

let's start this of with probably my fav thing about stranger things: subtext. so much of this show, of these characters is subtext. especially when it comes to billy. there is not a lot actually explicitly stated in the show about his character. a lot that is treated as a fact is made up by the fandom by what really is more subtext of the scenes we see with him. particularly from season 2.

apropos season 2 billy. definitely not a great brother figure i think we can all agree. a reckless 17-year old with a lot of anger issues. i have a whole essay about the different possible characterisations of him too, someone stop me. his interactions with max? not great. absolutely not great. i personally think calling it abusive goes a bit far but that's just me. i also think there is a lot to be said for his actions maybe being screwed up ways of showing affection but that again is another essay in itself.

however as it is in season 2 we have: no kind words between max and billy, no real emotion unless it's anger or fear or frustration, max specifically talking with obvious disdain about him.

what do we have in season 3? none of the above.

i mean even s2 ends with billy looking at max in something that looks like contemplation, there's no disdain, and i would venture to say even affection in his look but obviously that's subjective. what isn't subjective is that despite max taking him out before, the season doesn't end violently between them. it ends just with them looking at each other.

now in s3? things are vastly different.

when max talks about billy in s3 it's in a way that just screams annoyed little sister. "wrong is kind of his default" said while smiling. to her friend. no reason to be pretending. and while they are in his room. listen my good dudes idk but that's not really what you'd do if you were being abused by someone.

especially bc in s2 max was clearly scared of billy and what he'd do. she was visibly scared when he held her arm in the car, she made lucas stay behind in the arcade, she turned the steering wheel, "he'll kill me, he'll kill us". if she'd been feeling that fear in s3 still she probably would not have gone as far as to enter his room. she was actively trying not to aggravate him before and in s3 it doesn't seem at all like she fears any consequences from him.

another important point: she is obviously upset by the idea of billy being flayed. she says so multiple times. she denies the chance of it. not particularly how you'd expect someone to react if they were feeling indifferent or hateful towards someone?

she also offers him up to be spied on by el in the first place. again why'd she do that if she were feeling as upset by him as she was in the previous season? also the only thing she warns eleven of is billy potentially being with a girl. like that's the worst she could imagine him doing.

max is also not particularly surprised by how nice billy acts when they find him with the holloways. when he is being perfectly polite, introduces her as his sister, and is nice to her. sure she looks a bit confused in the moment but ultimately summarises the evening to mean he's normal.

the sauna scene. honestly. the main point. she at first doesn't even want to do it. my baby is deep in denial. "i hope it's not you." and then she is visibly upset when they do put him in the sauna. before he's activated billy is begging her to believe him. and listen my dudes if he was feeling spiteful or disdainful towards her? he probably wouldn't be doing that. "please believe me max" he trusts her. when she asks him to explain further, he does. she wants to help him. there's enough affection between them that seeing him completely breaking down makes max cry.

moving onto my least favourite scene: his death. max' shock upon seeing him dying and begging for him to stay alive. mh. yeah idk. her guilt in s4 as well (i'm not gonna go into what else went on in s4 bc i'm not yet done with my rewatch) oh also just that she touches him without hesitance when he's on the floor. and sure he's clearly wounded but there is no hesitance on her side to get in his space at all. same as before when she was trying to get through to him when he was coming towards her, eleven and mike. she stands there and talks to him right until he is in her space and doesn't flinch away from him. yes abuse or hate are different and don't show for everyone the same way but also. this is very atypical behaviour, at multiple times just saying.

then there is the obvious grief. (granted i think grief itself doesn't necessarily mean that the person who's gone wasn't abusive or just shitty, simply bc it's not as black and white as people would like to make it out to be.) and then i mean obviously people grieve differently but also i personally think the fact that she is shown in his room does kind of point towards a better relationship too, it's a clear admittance at least to herself that she is missing him to a degree. she is seeking out his presence in a way? from what i know about grieving someone you didn't particularly want around the part of missing them is hard to accept. but again not my main point and also not a fact just yk my personal thoughts.

lastly i could also bring up my favourite thing ever: in s2 max knows how to drive the camaro and someone has to have taught her. it was billy and you can't change my mind. so even before s2 maybe there was a better relationship? .. there could be other clues for that too but yeah no i think i've made my point:

billy hargrove and max mayfield had an at least decent relationship by s3, thank you for your time. @ the duffers i'll meet you about this in a parking lot somewhere and i'll bring my k*ll nancy instead of steve presentation.

Sabito x Male y/n (Chap 4)

2 years skip.

You sat they're next to the twin water pillars, Giyu and Sabito. In the fight against the hand demon, you were able to save his life, making him trust you completely. You were a Crystal Hashira, and your were the 3rd strongest, and yet you still longed to get stronger.

You pat Sabito's head humming a sweet song, while he snuggled into your neck from the side. He was cute but he could be fierce it you were o his bad side. Your feelings started when he helped you with moving into your pillar passion.

He was moving boxes with Giyu, when the black haired emo decided to take a break and get some coffee, leaving both you and Sabito alone. Sabito grabbed your shoulder gently, "We should continue till Giyu gets back, right?", he teased nudging your cheek with his knuckle. You laugh, "Alright workaholic", you teased him back. You were planning to kiss his cheek to see his embarrassed face which at the time would've been so funny, but suddenly he moved his head making your lips just scape each other. You completely freaked out jumping back to much and hitting your head on the top of the door, knocking yourself out dead.

Around an hour later You woke up with Giyu and Sabito staring at you. Giyu smirks, "Scared of spiders are you?", Giyu teased. You tilted your head forgetting what just happened, "What are you-", suddenly the memories came rushing back like a rustling wind blowing a wooden plank in your face. You looked over at Sabito who was looking away, with a cold energy coming of of him. You felt guilt in yourself. You just ruined Sabito's first kiss. You laugh, "I guess the spider was just as shocked as I was. I also hope the spider will forgive me for the mistake I made, that Sabi- I mean the spider will forget this ever happened. Sabito looked at you and smiled, "I think the spider thinks your very sorry, and will try to forget about your scream", he giggled. His giggle, you've never heard it like that before, and then suddenly you felt your heart race increasing. What was this feeling?

Soon enough he went back to normal, well you that is, but Sabito, for some season kept taking of his mask around you, which didn't happen often, but now it was like a normal thing. He also smiled a lot, and I mean a lot. Then one night when he was drunk he tried to kiss you, and you thinking that it was just because he was drunk, it still didn't explain how straight after that he started hugging you and even would kiss your hand time to time. These actions wouldn't help with your love growing for him, and you would even notice small things he likes. Examples are coffee, books, smells, fighting, music. He was so perfect in your eyes, and to think he was basically ready to kill you.

Present: The cheeries front eh trees would be ripe in 3 days and you and Sabito couldn't wait to pick them. They were so pink and looked so smoove, and-, "Y/n?"

You glanced at him, as he moved his head from your neck, and you noticed he was red, "OMG! Are you okay, your completely red, are you si-", you rambled quite loudly. He cups your cheek, "I've wanted to tell you something for a while, and-"

"What is it?", your asked smiling. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. You grab his chin and move closer, "What would you like little Sabito?"

"Li-little, Sa-sabi-Sabito?", he stuttered, and god it was cute. You smile, "If you want something then say it, because I have to leave soon, you know that?"

"Can I take it, please~", he pleaded.

"Umm, sure, but what is-mh", your word were covered with Sabito pressing his lips on yours and your face lit up like the purest and reddest apple. You moved forward kissing him back, but it was soon pushed back (literally). You were push back on the ground and Sabito landing in your chest. He sat up quickly, "SORRY I SLIPT", he screamed, covering his face with his mask, "It's just that I've liked you for a while, and I want you to be mine, and I- I-I, just don't know what to do with all these feeling for you hiding within"

You were shocked, but happy,, so you smiled. You grabbed his hand, "I've been feeling the sea away for so long, I can't remember how many time's I've just wanted to kiss you like not was ever going to know or hear a thing. I love you Sabito", you said with tears running down your cheery like cheeks.

skam OG- deja vu: there's just no way around it. they started it all. do you get deja vu when you watch the seven remakes of this show? yeah, i do, especially when the remakes are bad n basically just copy and paste the og clips

skam france- favorite crime/1 step forward, 3 steps back: what can i say except that skamfr is that accident you see happening right in front of your eyes and, even though you know that you should look away, you just can't. it's a crime but it was my favorite crime to watch this shit uwu. also. at the beginning of every season they go one step forward and you think.. mh this could be good. and then they go three steps back and you remember why you hate them.

wtf*ck- jealousy, jealousy: not only are the writers of the show jealous that all the other versions are cooler and prettier than them, so is every stan of this show secretly too. why do you hate druck stans criticizing your show so much? it's the jealousy

skam austin- brutal: all they did was try their best and that's the kinda thanks they get? a cancellation?? right before shay's season?? y'all can't be serious. most underrated remake. brutally murdered by ungrateful people🙄🙄

skam españa- traitor: amira's season will always stay the biggest betrayal in skamverse history. it wasn't just a medicore bad season, the writing actually hit rock bottom and made me want to drive my head through a wall. they betrayed us and we know that they'll never feel sorry.

skam nl- happier: they're nice but can be a bit dramatic. so they hope that you're happy with the other remakes but not like how you were with them before they got cancelled.

druck- hope ur ok: i just hope they now how proud i am this show was created. with the willpower to unlearn all the stupid things og and other remakes have done and create their own unique and best version that could possibly exist of this show. every day i hope that the writers and everyone involved in making this show has a good day and is ok!🍓❣

Thoughts while watching Élite - Season 1

Spoilers ahead

After episode 1 and 2: Somehow I was stupid enough to accidentally start with episode 2 and it took me 40 minutes of being mildly overstrained with following the storyline until I realized the mistake lol. But once I actually started with episode 1 it made way more sense I started to enjoy it. Let’s say I’m very hooked and curious to find out who killed Marina. I kinda hate that she’s the murder victim, because from all these characters she’s definitely one of the most likeable ones. Right now I don’t have a supect yet, but I don’t think it was Samuel (who probably got her pregnant, I guess) or Guzmán, unless there’ll be some twist. I really strongly dislike that guy, seriously. Just like Lu. Nadia, Omar, Samuel and Ander are quite okay, Christian is annoying and I don’t care about Carla and Polo. And I haven’t quite decided upon what to think of Nano yet. What I really like about the series up until now though is that it doesn’t seem to waste screentime on individual storylines involving the parents. That’s an issue I often have with shows that have teenage protagonists: They also focus on the parents and I never care about them. If I’m watching a show about High School students I don’t care about the adults any further than how they are influencing the actual main characters. And Elite seems to balance that relatively well. Anyways, besides the murder mystery, topics I find interesting are the stuff with Nano, Nadia’s storyline and Marina’s HIV infection. So yeah, I’m enjoying the series so far and I’m very intrigued to see how things will evolve.

After episode 3: Okay, okay, this is going into other directions than I thought it would. I thought Samuel and Marina would end up being a thing and I still kinda ship it. Anyways, talking about what happened in the episode I must say that I really like how the show deals with the topic of HIV. I’m pointing this out so much because I still remember how 13 Reasons Why used it as a cheap plot device to kill of one of its protagonists, ignoring medical accuracy in every way possible. So it’s refreshing to see how it’s dealt with here. Other than that I find Ander’s storyline interesting, not just because I started shipping him and Omar, but also because I’m a bit worried that his drug use will spiral out of control at some point. Regarding the Polo-Carla-Christian situation I want to point out that I’d love it if the two guys ended up together as well, because that would be a funny twist on the “He’s going to steal your girlfriend” thing. I must say though, as someone who is only a few years older than the protagonists: Most of them don’t act or talk like actual teenagers, at least nobody I’ve ever known. But it’s like that in most teen shows, also that the characters don’t look like High School kids at all. It’s okay. The only somewhat relatable part for me is the roof of the other secondary school collapsing, that’s something that totally could have happened at my High School as well lmao. Oh, I almost forgot to comment on the murder mystery: Mh, if it was Nano or Samuel it would be too soon for them to be suggested as suspects ... How sad is it, though, that they put the blame on each other?

After episode 4: Damn, I really start loving this show. Because even Guzmán, who I hated a lot, starts getting more facets to his personality and occasionally shows a caring side. Also how he caught his Dad doing coke in relation to his backstory of what happened to his biological parents, that’s very interesting. I also start caring more for Carla and Polo, and Christian starts being funny from time to time (loved his Titanic comment on how to eat at a fancy dinner lol). Samuel and Marina are so fucking cute together - can we talk about that time machine thing? So cute. Furthermore, I liked how he and Guzmán reacted to seeing Omar and Ander. Nadia is still one of my favourite characters, I think her arc is interesting. So is Nano’s, that one adds some tension to the story.The only one who I still really strongly dislike is Lu. Let’s hope she’s the murderer.

After episode 5: Yeah, it’s really accurate to say that all characters have their better and worse sides. I don’t like how Nadia reacted to Marina’s HIV infection and to Omar being gay. I also strongly despise the teacher. Maybe he was the murderer? It’s also terrible how Marina and Nano treat Samuel ... He deserves better. So does Ander. I hope he finds the courage to quit tennis. Okay, since I’m on episode 5 already, I should think more about who could be the murderer. Samuel has a reason, because Marina cheated on him. But I don’t think he would do it, and it would be too obvious. Same counts for Nano. I could imagine Nadia to be the murderer, because she always oppresses her emotions, so maybe she just snapped in that moment. I know it wasn’t Omar or Ander, because I think I’ve seen a video on YouTube from a later season and they were still in it. Guzmán might lose his temper, but I don’t believe he would kill his sister. Lu would have been caught instantly, because I don’t think she would be good at covering up a crime. I don’t know which reason Carla, Polo or Christian would have. As of right now, I would say Nadia or the teacher. But I feel like I’m missing something.

After episode 6: Things start getting messy, because apparently everybody has a motive. Samuel because of the cheating. Nano because Marina might have told him in person that she wanted to quit their plan of running away. Carla because of the watch. Martin and Lu because she told the principal about the bribe. Ander, Omar and Nadia because she also revealed that Omar is a dealer. About Guzmán I’m not sure, but he could have found out that she wanted to run away and maybe they got into a fight, who knows. The only ones who are not really involved are Polo and Christian, but they both could have done it in favour of someone else. So yeah, I don’t quite know what to think. Maybe they just all worked together lol. The last two episodes were a bit more boring than the others, and I’m not the biggest fan of the writers giving literally every relevant character a reason to kill her, despite the effect of creating more tension. I just think they overdid it a little bit. Anyways, I think it was neither Samuel, nor Nano, nor Ander, nor Omar. But I could be entirely wrong. As for the other events of the episode, I’m unable to ship Marina and Nano, I’m sorry. I’m on team Samuel. I’d wish Omar and Ander to be happy together, though. And regarding Polo ... Oh man. Dude, if you want to experience with guys, tell your girlfriend about it and then maybe get involved with a bisexual fella for your threesomes who’s cool with all of that instead of Christian, because you totally suggested that you would only help him get on that magazine cover if he slept with you. And Christian was totally right: That does make you a son of a bitch, because it’s totally abusive.

After episode 7: Holy shit, that fight was insane, damn. Things are really serious and fucked up. I can understand these characters having their violent outbursts, Guzmán and Samu, but I’m curious to see how all of this leads to the murder of Marina. I hope the season finale actually explains everything, or else I’ll head right into season 2. Maybe they’ll arrest Samu, even if it wasn’t him. Whom do I suspect now, my final guess? It’s still very difficult. Samu is definitely loosing it, but I still can’t imagine him to be a murderer. For a moment it seemed like Lu and Nadia would team up to kill her, but I’m not convinced either. Okay, whatever, I’m going to make a very random theory now and say that it’s Christian. Through the entire season every character had a reason to kill her at some point, except for him. And I think there’s a chance that the writers use this trope of making the least suspicious character the murderer. Also, there was this scene where he told Carla he’ll be her friend, so maybe she’ll abuse that to not make her own hands dirty. I don’t know, maybe Marina ends up leaking the information from the watch or something. Following this logic, it could have also been Polo, so these are my guesses. By the way, what I liked in this episode was the reaction of Ander’s Mum to finding out he’s gay. Can’t say that about Nadia’s and Omar’s Dad. I hope all of that is going to work out okay.

After episode 8: Ha, I wasn’t that far off, Polo killed Marina because of the watch to get back with Carla, and she and Christian are covering it up. I was pretty close with my theory. Nice. I just hope Christian will tell the truth next season to get Nano out of prison. But yeah, all I can say is fuck Polo and fuck Carla. They really, really suck. I mean, all or at least most protagonists do to some degree, but these two take it to the next level. Marina wasn’t an angel and she did many wrong things, but she didn’t deserve what happened to her. I don’t know, I feel like she was just trying to live her own truth and make her own decisions even when they were wrong. And I didn’t hate. It was like that with most characters - I can’t really say that I loved any of them, especially not in the beginning, but during the events of the season many of my opinions changed because they’re all very multifaceted. For the most parts the storyline was also pretty solid, so yeah, I had a lot of fun watching the show and commenting on in. I might start with season 2 soon, but I probably won’t write as much about it as here. But thanks for reading, maybe this was somewhat interesting for somebody.
