Part Five: The Friend and Foe

Wilma:

Wilma is an environmental activist who does acting for a side job in order to make the money needed to be able to thrive in stability and fuel her organization "Wilma's Wilderness Protection Services," or "WWPS" for short. One of the most recent roles she took on within the acting industry was "Wendy Corduroy" from the beloved Disney series, "Gravity Falls". She claimed to have been attracted to the chill yet strong-willed nature of the character and said the traits reminded her of herself.

She's made a strong impact on certain aspects of the studio — suggesting the addition of recycling bins and utilization of recycled paper for scripts instead. She's also been seen, from time to time, picking up the litter occasionally covering the surrounding area of the building's outside. She deeply believes in her cause and takes every opportunity to attempt to take better care of the Earth.

"I feel like she has definitely affected all of us — in a good way, I mean. Not that I littered or treated our planet badly, but I never really helped out. I didn't know I could, to be honest. It felt like nothing I could do would make a difference. But, Wilma? She changed that attitude. She taught us little tips here and there, and recommended things we could do to help out if we ever felt like it. Not too much overwhelm us or make us feel like we weren't doing much before — like some people might do — but just enough to be encouraging and remind us that we could. That it was possible and we had a choice; a say in how much humanity affected nature. It's an empowering belief that she brought upon us," Melanie (actor of "Melody") expressed about her fellow actress.

Wilma is closest with Mabel and Alzamirano due to them having similar activities and firm opinions. When hanging out with the younger girl, the conversation usually revolves around their shared care for nature and its wildlife. When she's around Alza, meanwhile, they typically talk about how managing both of their associations is going and how they created them out of the common desire for the world's betterment.

William:

William is THE celebrity actor cast with playing the role of "Bill Cipher" in the show "Gravity Falls". He's one of the big names and is the most famous toon working on set for the series. He's been acting since seemingly forever (since he was ten years old) and is one of the most well known actors out there, period. He didn't have much competition when it came to auditioning for the role — since not too many shape toons exist in the world — and the little he had quickly left after finding out who they were up against.

William has been said to have a flamboyant and flashy personality. He's bold and will do whatever it takes to determine that he stands out from the crowd. He lives for the attention and makes that fact known. As a result, he sometimes comes across as fake, shallow, and even egotistical to people; finding him off-putting. Despite this, he's still extremely popular with public. He's the type of person who you either hate or love full-heartedly with little room for an in-between opinion.

While seemingly unapproachable on the surface, he's more than willing to converse, help, or interact with others — even if they're below him fame-wise. He's capable of being a very down-to-earth triangle who's sensitive and caring. Though, this piece of information is not that well known due to how he acts when near the spotlight. However, that's not the only reason. He has been making a noticable decision to attempt to appear less vulnerable and keep up his persona after the creation of a highly gossiped rumor. In the case you've been living under a rock (I apologize for any accidental offense caused to you, Patrick Star), I'll briefly explain what I'm referring to:

William has been theorized to have been close in some sort of proximity to famous scientist, Dr. Ford (actor of "Stanford Pines").

While I'm legally obligated reiterate that the connection between the duo is pure speculation, I'm more than willing to delve into why this has become a common belief. For starters, upon their first meeting, Ford was stated to have been shocked to realize William was also part of the cast in the way someone is suprised to see someone they know at the local grocery store.

"It was strangest thing I had seen. Mr. Ford was walking around, saying 'hi' to people, and then when he saw Mr. William he just...stopped. Stopped being able to do just about everything. He stopped being able to function properly, stopped knowing how to speak, stopped smiling — you get the gist. Oh! And then there was his eyes. They widened and became distant, as if he seen a ghost. Though, Bill does float like one. But, that's not the point. The point is: It was like he knew him," Deon (actor of "Gideon Gleeful") recited from memory about the two.

Furthermore, while they do seem avoid each other at every possible opportunity, their eyes have been caught to occasionally drift over to the other's. Their expressions changing to one of reminiscence as they (POTENTIALLY! This is theorizing, I don't want to be sued for any of this being mistaken for fact) let their minds wander to the ghosts of their pasts.

Again, none of this should be taken as objective truth. Though there is evidence to support this claim, they haven't confirmed any of the suspicion and instead denied it. Or avoided it like people avoid secrets they don't wish to speak about publicly. Please take all of this with a grain of salt. I was lucky enough to be hired to write these articles for the Disney company, since the show is so popular — I don't want to be sued for it.

Shelly Fossilian: Gardenview's Forgotten Main (and why she works!)

Recently, I've seen many posts on social media discussing Shelly and her characterization of being forgotten/ignored. Specifically, they seemed critical of this trait and thought Shelly would realistically not fit that role. "Kids love dinosaurs!" or "Shelly is too kind!" are repeated rebuttals. However, I disagree with this. In fact, I think Shelly is not only the perfect character for this archetype, but giving it to any other character would fall flat, and to say toons like Vee or Sprout would fulfill this role better is a severe misunderstanding of their current roles.

A common misconception is that Shelly is "the dinosaur toon." I hear this often: "Dinosaurs are popular with children, so wouldn't they love Shelly?"

Shelly is not the dinosaur toon, she's the dinosaur FACT toon. The distinction, while not seeming important, absolutely is.

Shelly's dialogue gives us a look into how she fills her role: she spits info at people in a way that doesn't get them invested.

She's repetitive, awkward, and unengaging. Even toons that show interest in her facts consistently end their interactions with Shelly impassively.

The phrase "a good teacher can make a boring subject fascinating" goes both ways. A teacher who fails to spark intrigue in their students will make any subject dull. Regardless of how much a kid loves dinosaurs, if Shelly can't engage with them properly, it means nothing.

This is best illustrated with Shelly's interaction with Toodles:

Shelly actually manages to capture her attention, but quickly squanders the opportunity when she scares her by accident. And this is Toodles - a naturally curious kid. It's very difficult to put her off learning/exploring, even when she's scared.

This is a problem unique to Shelly. The other mains have no problem capturing Toodles' attention, sometimes without even trying.

Even Vee, who is dismissive of her questions, is still pestered by her until she gets her answer.

And speaking of Vee, an abudent number of people think that she would be a better fit for the forgotten archetype than Shelly due to her jealousy toward Dandy and her blunt personality.

First of all, Vee has a rivalry with Dandy, one that is anything but one-sided. He doesn't like her either.

Vee's superiority over Dandy seems to come from an abundance of self-confidence, something she would not have if she was unpopular.

Secondly, Vee is more than just "blunt." She is also charismatic and captivating. Her gameshow is one of the most discussed parts of the cartoon. In fact, Vee is everything Shelly SHOULD be. She knows all her dinosaur facts and she makes learning them fun. Her gameshow rewards intelligence with prizes, which encourages kids to listen and learn, similar to how teachers use Kahoot or Blooket.

Simply put, Vee renders Shelly obsolete.

Even the activity in Shelly's room is just a lamer version of Vee's.

Dig for fossils in a sandpit and win prizes... that aren't even guaranteed? What kid would want to do that over participating in the thrilling gameshow they see on TV? Shelly doesn't even dig with you! And even if they weren't interested in Vee, Sprout and Astro also offer kids a lot more than Shelly. Getting a cupcake from Sprout is equivalent to getting a Krabby Patty from SpongeBob himself. Astro, meanwhile, literally has magical abilities. Shelly just cannot compare. Besides, every other main character can break from their gimmick with ease. Astro is more than just "sleepy," he's a magical being who encourages kids to dream big and use their imagination. Sprout is more than just "baker," he's a friend to all who promotes generosity with Cosmo. Vee is more than just "gameshow," she inspires competitiveness and technological advancements toward the future.

Shelly is "dinosaur," but what else is there? She's nice? Fun? Caring? Most toons are. She doesn't offer anything good to children not already deeply invested in dinosaurs.

So, with all this in mind, Shelly's unpopularity with audiences makes sense. But what about her peers? Is the constant ignoring of Shelly by the toons she lives with absurd? Not exactly. Admittedly, some dialogue can be a bit on-the-nose, but that doesn't mean it's nonsensical.

Shelly is not ignored on purpose. This is important to note. Toons are not actively leaving her out, it's always accidental. When they do, they get sheepish about it, but never do anything substantial to rectify their mistake.

And when Shelly is given attention, she has a habit of getting way too excited about it. It comes across as desperate - an undesirable trait.

In this sense, Shelly is stuck in a loop of self-sabotage. But it's not that she's disliked; she's just painfully mediocre.

When she isn't being ignored, she's talking about dinosaurs, something that most toons aren't very interested in. That's all she's known for, to the point where her side hobby of sewing comes as a shock to multiple toons because it's unexpected for Shelly to have other interests.

At the end of the day, most toons just don't have a reason to hang out with her. If they don't care about dinosaurs or have a pre-established bond, then what's the point? Facts can only be entertaining for so long, and when they stop being so, what more can Shelly offer?

Truthfully, a lot, and that's the tragedy of her character. Shelly is so stuck in her own gimmick that she's ignored when it's not relevant, which is practically all the time. But Shelly IS so much more than her dinosaur facts, it's just that few people care to see that.

It is a role in the game that only a character like Shelly can fulfill, it's what makes her so well-written and why many fans love her so much. Her archetype just wouldn't work with any other toon. I hope this post can shed some light on that. Shelly is one of my favorite characters and I swear I could talk endlessly about her. How I play Larry:

🍒 General - Larry’s Old™ and very, very out of touch about…well, quite a few things. He doesn’t really understand all that much about diversity in genders and orientations, but he’s also generally very accepting of all kinds of people, and if he’s corrected on an outdated assumption he’ll be chill about it.

🍒 Source material & influences - My portrayal is based off the original Sierra games, primary influences being 1 (Land of the Lounge Lizards), 6 (Shape Up or Slip Out), 7 (Love for Sail), and the Casino spinoff because those are the ones i’m most familiar with. Magna Cum Laude is semi-canon, in that Larry’s got a nephew following in his footsteps, to predictably detrimental results. I’ve also got headcanons and personal interpretations thrown in there for good measure.

🍒 Interacting with other Muses - Larry’s a straight up, capital T, Toon. He’s from a parallel reality that more or less mirrors real life, with the exception that things run on cartoon logic. (Think Roger Rabbit. He’s 2D, but you can still interact with him as if he were three-dimensional. So, more like 2.5D, I suppose?)

Classic Sierra games have implied, and sometimes flat-out shown, that the Multiverse is very much a thing, so Larry hopping to different universes or dimensions is not out of the question. 

But, and this is a pretty important distinction, unlike the games have portrayed, my Larry is not a self-aware video game protagonist. I feel like things could get way too meta and silly if I played him as such. Larry’s his own man, with his own life, he’s just also a goofy cartoon fella!

If you’d like me to play it a little more straight let me know and I can just play him as a Regular Human Person (That’s kinda what the faceclaim’s for).

🍒 Shipping and Pre-Established Relationships - As mentioned earlier, i’d like any pre-established relationships to be brought up and discussed beforehand. If you’re playing another Sierra character, for example, try not to assume Larry will know your muse.

I’m open to shipping only with consenting, adult muses (And muns, of course). I won’t be doing any outright not safe for work threads or asks on the dash. If that ever comes up, it will be done over Discord DM’s.

why do you even like skyward sword zelda

Oooooo, anon you finna make my followers hate me even more since I don’t shut the fuck up about one beautiful sky Zelda. In short:

In long? Well, I’ll place it under the read more. Juuuuust in case I do actually get super rambly ramble with this girl because I can like talk hours. Excuse the mistakes, I’ll get to editing them once I learn how to read again. I tend to go off when I ramble and not check anything until later on. Bear with me, please!

I’m not even sure where to start?! I suck at getting my thoughts out into cohesive enough reading pieces because ADHD is just hell brain going 755034 miles per minute and expecting everyone to keep up sometimes. I feel like everything I’ve said has been said before... but, I’m always totally ready to ramble once more because it’s something I can never be tired of and is very on-brand of me to yell about either sky or ALTTP Zelda. I’m just super passionate about these girls! 

What drew me to Skyward Sword Zelda in the first place is the aesthetic of her game as well as her design as a whole. I remember seeing the trailer for SS drop and how hyped I was. The cel-shading was back with a vengeance with a nice combo of the art style we see in TP too rather than the more toon style with WW and I feel like it worked beautifully, the graphics for the game never fail to amaze me and I love the watercolor look they went with in both the official art and game! I knew I would love this Zelda and guess what, I was right in that because spoiler alert: I LOVED this Zelda the minute we were introduced to her. Not her first physical appearance because all we saw was her beautiful dress design... well, ok this did help in making me love this girl. BUT her first introduction as to who she is as a character in the letter sent to Link. She’s cheeky in the letter and it gives us this sense that the two of them really are on a more familiar level with each other, compared to every other relationship with Zelda and Link where they are strangers bound by fate to save Hyrule. It’s very simple, a few sentences but all that simplicity painted a good enough sense as to what we were in for with Zelda and her friendship with Link. 

HOOOOOOO BOY HOOOO BOY!!! And then we see her, and we see Link smiling at her like it’s the first time seeing her ever despite seeing her yesterday. And gosh, she’s just a charming character overall!! She’s funny, someone who likes to tease others and carries a strong sense of justice! She can be pushy (literally and figuratively speaking) but she does mean well by the end of the day and is aggressive in showing support for you! She’s an optimist mostly for friends because she thinks that things will turn out alright for her friends and she wishes that they can see the same too so often she will encourage them. She’s not a princess. She’s very ordinary here, and that ordinariness illustrates both Sky and Tetra best because of how lighthearted and open they are. Granted they’re not super lax and are still very responsible like all Zeldas but they’re pretty informal and I love that about them! 

Sky Zel is someone who’s pretty straightforward, she has no issue with letting both her body and facial expression do the talking for her as such she doesn’t really hide much. She’s an open book of sorts all while being someone who expresses her mind and isn’t roundabout in saying things, she has no issue with calling you out as shown with how she called out Groose and his bullying on Link. On top of that, she does call out Link a few times too depending on the choices you give in-game! Skyward Sword did an excellent job in making Sky Zel so likable and adding nuance to her relationship with Link through the little things in the first few minutes of the game and it’s like, damn you kinda wanna see her again all safe and happy! 

It reminds me of how Wind Waker starts off with Aryll and Link having a wholesome brother-sister bond and it motivates you to rescue her because you’re sure that Link wants to see Aryll home safe and happy again with Grandma.

It’s a shame how we don’t see her journey throughout the game and see how she becomes the more melancholic, wise girl we see during her scene where she falls asleep for over 1000+ years or the full extent of her relationship with Impa either because I’m sure those two had a pretty good bond going too for Zelda to react like that during the end where Impa fucking dies hweoh. That’s another thing too, there’s a whole other layer to Sky aside from Genki. Yes, she’s cheery and seems like your typical anime heroine but keep in mind that she was Hylia, a goddess who fought for her people to protect them, the lands, and the Triforce. She was in a war, she had to see so many of her people die that she loved and vowed to protect because of one demon’s greed to have the power of the gods. Hylians were weak back then, Demise says this straight up. So death was very likely in those days. 

She had to endure a lot during that time, once Zelda’s memories of her past life came back she grew up from that girl we see at the beginning of the game. It’s also worth noting, that Zelda and Hylia have different mindsets. She may have her memories back but that doesn’t really mean she’s back to being Hylia fully before she became mortal. I’ve talked about it before but Zelda, with her ordinary background, grew up surrounded by love. In other words, she has a more compassionate heart than she did as a goddess. Gods and deathless beings overall have a long lifespan, they tend to forget about morals and how humans worked. While Hylia did love her people and the lands her love is different from mortals as such it can be very painful. I mean *gestures to Sky Link* there you go. It’s why she’s so remorseful of her actions... but the ending scene where she tells Link she wants to live on The Surface tells me that there are still shades of that playful gremlin we saw in the first half of Skyward Sword. She’s someone who’s hopeful for tomorrow but likes to live in the now and make a brighter tomorrow. She won’t hide away from the past, willing to admit to her mistakes and refusing to make excuses, but she won’t let it define her either and will instead grow from it. She wants to protect the people she loves and the world she loves much like she did in her past life but with more empathy with that love!

I think that’s all for her as a character aside from one more thing to add: 

It’s cool to me how she’s not a princess, but a literal Goddess. She’s legit Hylia. So she’s unique in that aspect and she serves as an explanation as to why the royal family even has divine powers because her blood is passed down to them. I don’t buy fanon theory that all Zeldas are reincarnations of Hylia, I think Sky is the rare case of Zelda reincarnating. There’s no evidence to support either theory because Nintendo tends to be open-ended in their lore for the most part... although Demise makes it a point to say “those with the blood of the goddess” rather than the “spirit of the goddess” like he does with Link which is something that Ghirahim and Demise wanted from Zelda, aka the Spirit Maiden, to bring Demise’s form back from the seal Hylia placed on him. Her very soul has divinity to it. 

On top of that, in BOTW it’s explained that the sealing power has been passed down and that Zelda’s mother knew how to use it as did her grandmother and so on. So... with that in mind how on earth is Hylia around for both those ladies and the current Zelda we see in BOTW if every Zelda ever is the reincarnation of her? On top of that BOTW Zel says in her diary that she had a dream where a woman in white tried to call out to her so??? Huh? What? It creates a plot hole if you think every Zelda is Hylia reincarnating. And sort of takes away the fun headcanon of Zeldas interacting in the Spirit Realm. That said, I’d like to think her presence is eternal through the powers that become unlocked rather than Hylia herself. If that makes sense? It’s not literally Hylia reincarnating but a connection made with her. This might not be making much sense haha. But! Reincarnation is a thing I do think is possible in LOZ since BOTW does say this but I don’t think it’s not as straightforward as fandom thinks it is and I’d like to think it’s more nuanced. People tend to cite Avatar sometimes and ehhhhh. No.

But that’s just me on that one.

Ben Solo X Reader: To Find the Light

Request: Hello! I really enjoyed "My Galaxy"! I was wondering if you could write a Kylo Ren oneshot where he's Ben Solo and he and his wife hold their newborn son for the first time. Have a good day!

(I’m so glad you ended up enjoying the fic! As my own headcanon, I love to see him with a set of twins as his first babies rather than just one, so enjoy the twins that I imagine for him; Ashaiya and Anakin! I know that some people prefer to be able to name children in reader inserts, but I’ve got such a huge attachment to the names since I often use them in RPs with Kylo!)

The strong bond through the Force that both you and Ben had established with the twin babies growing inside of your womb for nearly an entire nine months had grown exponentially. Being of the Skywalker bloodline, they already had such a strong presence in the Force that was undeniable. With enough training from Ben, there was little that they would not be able to learn. 

At first, Ben was petrified at the news he would soon be a father, the worry escalating the moment the doctor confirmed it would be not a single baby, but rather two. There was a part of him that was euphoric toward knowing he had children on the way. Yet a small bit of him worried that he would turn out to be a neglectful parent much like Han and Leia were. What if they grew up to resent him? What if he didn’t give them all the love and support that they deserved? 

Your head rested against a mountain of pillows to support you, raised up to better hold your newborn son. Ben sat comfortably in the chair next to the hospital bed with the other twin - a healthy baby girl - in his arms protectively. Little raven black locks peeked out from under her pastel pink hat. It awed him how much hair that both of the twins were born with. Although they were no more than a few hours old, their resemblance to their father was astounding. 

“We still need to decide on their names, Ben,” you smiled in a muse, adjusting your son as he stirred in your arms. “we can’t keep calling them Baby Boy and Baby Girl.”

“I know, I know,” a muffled laugh escaped his plush lips. “I just… want to make sure that they’re perfect because they’ll have these names for the rest of their lives,”  With all of his worries, messing up their names was the least of them, but it still brought quite a bit of anxiety being the ones to name the pair. His anxiety went as far as to make him concerned if he’d brainstorm a name that would one day bring about criticism from their peers.

Ben reached down to caress her cheek gently with the back of his thumb just as she too began to stir. As she nearly erupted in a cry, he brought her closer to him and cradled the back of her head in his large hand. “You’re alright so good with her.” 

“Thanks,” his bright smile grew. The baby practically wiggled her away out of the coddle until Ben held her against his chest, shushing her “it’s going to be alright, little one.” 

Your son yawned exhaustively and dug his head into your inner elbow, closing his bright eyes. As your gaze returned to Ben, your heart melted as he cared for his daughter lovingly. Stars, despite his fears of being a bad father, he proved to be just about the most loving in all of the galaxy. “So I’ve been thinking… what if we named him after your grandfather?”

“Wait, Bail?” he raised an eyebrow as his gaze flickered up to you, focusing slightly on your son. 

“No,” you shook your head. “Anakin.” 

“Are you sure that you want to name him Anakin?”

“Even if for some time you may not have admired the best part of who he was, now you focus on the fact that despite everything he had been through, he could return to the light. You’ve done the same yourself, so I think it would be great to be able to name him after your grandfather.”

 “Anakin Solo…” he thought for a moment, a few tears pricking the corners of his honey brown eyes. “and Ashaiya? Are you alright with that name for our baby girl?” Ben came to wonder.

“Little Ani and Ash?” You questioned him curiously, getting a nod of confirmation from the man. “I think that it’s perfect. Anakin and Ashaiya Solo,” you repeated. It left you wondering if he had intentionally conceived a name with the same first initial as your son, or if it was a silly coincidence. Either way, it came from the bottom of his heart to make it all the more special. “

“Just born and you already have an adorable little nickname,” he cooed as he stared down at Ashaiya in his arms. 

“Ben, so you want to hold him, too,” you offered, lifting Anakin up a bit more for his father to get a good glance at his features. “I’ve held both of them but you still haven’t gotten the chance to hold him.” 

“Of course,” he expressed. Been scooted the chair closer to the bed and stood up. Being mindful of Ashaiya in his left arm, he carefully reached over to allow you to transfer her twin brother into his free arm. He fell back down in the seat and relaxed into the cushioned chair, more tears flooding his dark orbs. “I still can’t believe that these are our babies,” he barely choked on his tears. 

“Well, they’re here now and this is our new life,” you came to remind him, resting your arm underneath the pillow so that you could watch him holding his twin babies affectionately. Anakin, still half asleep, cuddled against his broad body as Ashaiya stared up at him in wonderment as he hummed a soft toon to them. “as much as this all feels like a dream, we really are parents now.”

“I know, I know…” he assured you in a shaky breath. His lips quivered as he took in their energies. Although they were newborns, and this was his first chance to hold them close, the bond that he shared with them wsa exponential. Although you had been the one to carry them to full term, he strengthened their connection as he interacted with them. It was as if it grew just by him being around to allow for their energies to intertwine a bit with one another to bond.

They were both distinct, harnessing potential for so much in their futures, but their auras remained as delicate as a vibrant blue century flower petal. “I know that you might still be worried, but just seeing you know just reminds me how great of a father you’re going to be,” you praised Ben. “you’ve been here for me for so long, and I don’t know what I’d do without you. So if you do just half of what you do for me for them, I believe they will be the luckiest children in the galaxy. 

“I’ll only be able to with you by my side he;ping me…” 

“That’s why we’ll be in a team,” you added, sinking into the pillows upon your bed for comfort. 

Ben’s gance returned to you with both of the twins settled into his arms. “You should really let yourself rest,” he attempted to encourage you with an assuring smile upon his freckled features.  

“I think that I’ll be fine,” you insisted. “I just want to watch them for a while.” 

“(Y/N), you heard the doctor. She wants you to rest up as much as you can. I promise that I’ll let you hold Anakin and Ashaiya as soon as you wake up. How does that sound?” Now that their names were set and decided, he’d need to inform the hospital as well as let the nurse look over them once more to make sure that they were doing alright. “you did an amazing job today and deserve to sleep.”

“Fine, just making sure that you don’t get them mixed up with any other babies, alright?” you couldn’t help but tease the man.” 

“Don’t worry, I think that I can handle them just fine,” he joked back. Ben stood up once more, doing his best not to disturb Anakin and Ashaiya, and leaned in closer to place a warm kiss on your forehead. “rest  up so that we can go home tomorrow with them and start our lives together with them. Sweet dreams…”

important headcanons to consider:

can they use chopsticks - yes she can! she was taught by the same person at HumGen who introduced her to tai chi.

what do they do when they can’t sleep - if she REALLY needs to sleep, she’ll either grab a shot or two of hard liquor or she’ll ball up, if she’s got a stash on hand. otherwise she’ll get out of bed and dive into some paperwork, though more often than not it’s her continuing her search for érik.

what would they impulse buy at the grocery store - the bueno chocolate bars, ESPECIALLY if it’s the white chocolate variety. she KNOWS that the fuckers are purposely placed right at the checkout aisles to encourage the impulse buy, but she just CANNOT help herself. candies in general are another weakness, especially gummy worms, but she usually practices more self-control when it comes to them. usually.

what order do they wash things in the shower - arrie will stand for the first couple of minutes just to soak up the water, usually with her face towards the showerhead. once she realizes that she’s spent too much time doing that though, it usually goes shampoo, her body (shoulders first, then neck, behind the ears, arms, torso, back, legs and feet, including the bottom of her feet) and conditioner last.

what’s their coffee order -  depends on the season. during the warmer months, she’ll usually go for a vanilla-flavoured iced coffee (with cubes, no crushed ice, if she can get that). colder seasons have her switching between mochas and lattes, ALWAYS with at least one shot of espresso though. during the holiday season though, Arrie consumes a ridiculous amount of peppermint-flavoured coffees. they’re her absolute faves.

what sort of apps would they have on their smartphone - uhh let’s see i can name a few specifics. twitter for sure. instagram. snap. tik tok. the new york bulletin app, if only to make sure esprit doesn’t make the front page, but she also reads ALL of Karen Page’s articles. a qr scanner. a cipher decoder app because fucc u abstractionss. a whole bunch of delivery apps. also a whole whack of dictionary apps, in case she comes across words she doesn’t understand ( sure, there’s google translate too, but if arrie has the time, she’s always looking to expand her vocabulary in all the languages she knows ). Spotify. and tbh probably a few games, including Pokemon GO and one of those mindless match-3 games. last but not least is iNaturalist - she’s actually super active on that one. 

how do they act around children - if arrie’s interactions with winter have proved anything, it’s that arrie gets along SO WELL with kids. she’s incredibly defensive of them, but more importantly, she pays actual attention to them. takes every word they say seriously, because from her experiences, it’s too often that adults don’t treat kids like proper people, and that frustrates her to all hell. just because they’re younger doesn’t necessarily mean they have no clue what they’re talking about. arrie admittedly might not be the greatest influence at times though - she’s willing to indulge kids quite a bit, especially those who’ve had it rough. 

what would they watch on tv when they’re bored and nothing they really like is on - arrie hasn’t had cable since she got herself a netflix account in early 2011. she streams pretty much everything. however, if she’s feeling particularly bored, she’ll usually throw on a cartoon. more often than not, it’s either looney toons or tom and jerry.

Headcanons pt.4

Middle school and early high school

I know American class but also Japanese class schedules. I don’t know if I want either or a hybrid.

Based off this post (If i can find it)

Naruto-band

Shikamaru has a knack for playing the drums, but he's never serious about it. He plays the drums because the systematic rhythm helps him think of strategies for shoji.

Has been asked multiple times to join the jazz band in Spring. He refuses everytime because it cuts his time in shoji, but once he gets his own cubie in the band hall he sets up his shoji board and plays it when he has free time.

Hinata has played the violin but hates the way her fingers hurt after being forced to play for long hours.

So she seeks asylum in the band hall, and has secretly taken lessons how to play the saxophone. It's her favorite of all the wind instruments.

She has been asked to join the spring jazz band, despite not being an actual member. She easily took the first chair when they were evaluating their skills.

Choji has been following a senior that's been teaching him the guitar, he's in the brass section playing the tuba. Has been asked to replace the senior when he gets older and wants to.

Naruto is in the brass section with Kiba but only Kiba is the trumpet player. Naruto is a trombone player and tells dad jokes. He didn’t fit the mold of a trumpet player but he still loves it regardless.

But his energy is definitely on par, if not greater than the rest. He will always cheer up everyone around him and is a part of the cheerleading squad.

Hates that there aren't anyone other guys. He just wants to flip off someone's shoulders. Damnit! 

He's flipped off Sasuke's and Shikamaru's shoulders before. In Sasuke's case, it was during elementary/primary. They were on the playground and this was Naruto’s second ever attempt to land a backflip. They couldn’t do it because the teacher caught them when a group started forming and they started betting their snacks from lunch to see if Naruto failed or not.

They continued their promise after school and Naruto broke his arm, but he did do it right after. He ate like a King the next day. It was great for him.

The first time Naruto did it was completely by accident and because he was so excited that he got a trampoline.

He’s never taken gymnasium classes before and has not seen a backflip before. But he somehow did it. It still shocks his parent’s to this day. Sasuke and him are neighbors and he came over to see what Naruto was so happy about.

Sasuke came just in time to see him do it. It was the greatest moment of his life because then Naruto tried to do it again and fell flat on his face. 

In shikamaru’s case it was during middle school and they were next to the pool. They were at Sasuke’s house for the day because he had a cool deck and pool.

Naruto wanted to jump off his shoulders into the pool. Shikamaru agreed because he didn’t think Naruto could actually do it. He realized his mistake when Naruto beamed in total confidence and Sasuke moved away from the pair.

Naruto didn’t do his back flip because Shikamaru moved the second Naruto decided to jump, without warning.

Needless to say, Shikamaru didn’t support his legs enough and Naruto accidently kicked him in the chin. Naruto ended up on the pool, back first, and Shikamaru fell on his ass.

Naruto swims up to the edge of the pool and looks at Sasuke, trying so hard not to laugh.

Naruto: Did I do it?!

Sasuke, trying to reclaim his composer: No, not at all.

Shikamaru, on the ground rubbing his chin: How did you even hit me!?

Naruto: Again!

Shikamaru: No!

Sasuke, running inside to get a camera or phone to record it: Yes!

Naruto is sometimes very confused as to why he is going to a house, when he has an apartment and his milk is about to expire! Also, his stash of untouched ramen!

Kushina: Naruto, sweetie. Where are you going?

Naruto: My apartment!

Minato: Naruto, we have a house.

Naruto: What’s that? Is it edible?

Kushina: Sometimes. During winter.

Naruto: Why winter?

Kushina: There are houses made of cookies.

Naruto: Really?!

Kushina, nodding along: Yup!

Anyway after High school they sometimes played together. Naruto had to buy a new entire trumpet because he rented from the school. Hinata bought her saxophone and has kept it under maintenance.

Shikamaru’s parents bought him his drum set and he learned how to play on his own. Choji does keep up with his guitar lessons but he did save up alot to get his electric guitar and a bass.

Card games

Hinata, Sasuke, and Shikamaru cannot play competitive and strategic card/board games. Scrabble, poker, 21, War, Bullshit is off the list. A Lot of decks, mostly up to 3 at a time and they are very distinguished between all of them.

Sakura refuses to play but does rude commentary to any group she is overseeing. Usually magic, because of Sasuke.

Choji doesn’t play anything but he does place bets on who would win with his snacks.

Magic the gathering.

Sasuke, Itachi played. Black Commander Deck

Sai, again his older brother. Green and Black Commander Deck.

Tenten; She found it and didn’t want something that Lee and Neji enjoy. Standard White and Blue Deck.

Yu-gi-oh.

Hinata; only because Neji played. Silent Magician Deck

Neji; because Lee played. He didn’t want to seem stupid. Hero elemental deck

Lee, he just likes the anime. But does have Yusei’s deck

Ino, she likes the pictures on Toon town and they let her do whatever but to some extent.

Both. 

Kiba; Rarely, Magic first. Green and Red Commander. Gear deck

Naruto; Rarely, yugioh first Odd-eyes deck and Black and White Standard Deck.

Kiba, dissing on Yugioh.

Naruto: Shut up, your mother buys you mega blocks instead of legos.

Hinata and Sasuke are both petty about each other’s card games. They each have respective sleeves and taunt each other, constantly.

Neji and Lee look at Tenten on the magic side and hate that she betrayed them. She’s just glad that they don't harp on her in her card game.

Pokemon.

Shikamaru, because no one knows how to fucking play.

Shino only collects the cards.

Hinata: Oh, are you playing?

Shino: You can play it?

Shikamaru has tried to teach Shino. Shino doesn’t sleeve his cards and when they take damage, he puts some non wet, non greasy food on his card.

Once the pokemon dies, Shino eats the snack. There are crumbs everywhere and Shikamaru’s pet peeve is being messy. Shikamaru appreciates Hinata’s and Sasuke’s sleeves.

Shows

Ino loves Reality TV and other things. But hates the Kardasians. Loves Rupaul drag race.

Sai is often encouraged by Ino to watch anime around her and he also finds anime that she thinks he hasn’t seen.

Sai has brought up Keeping up with the Kardasians and it was a mistake, he thought she would like it.

Ino: The Kardaisians are garbage and Kyle Jenner is a fake as hoe!

Sakura, from another room, hearing Ino rant: Did someone bring up the Kardasians?

Sai: Yeah.

Ino: Never do that again dear.

Sai: Got it sweetheart.

Ino has never actually called any other of her partners by a pet name but she does with Sai and they act like a married couple sometimes. They never talked about it. I mean they have shared stuff about each other that no one else knows. Coming out to each other, learning together because they both feel safe and comfortable with each other. Trust each other a lot.

Elementary bus crew.

Morning

Konoha 12 except Hinata

Naruto was so used to being independent that he has left his house on his own for school. It has freaked his parents more than once but they just watch over him as he goes to school.

Naruto always spots a red haired kid on the opposite of his bus stop with two older people that he holds their hands. Naruto always waves at him and waits until the day he waves back.

Gaara is very affected by his past life, like he was carving the kanji for love when his mom walked in because Temari tried to stop it but couldn’t take the blade away from him. She got slashed on her arm as a result.

Karura walks in and gasps softly.

Karura: Gaara sweetie.

Gaara: Mama, you're alive?

Karura: Of course. Please put the knife down.

Gaara: Knife?

Gaara completes carving in perfect kanji and stops once he completes it. Then the pain registrator for him

Choji is allergic to mustard, he found out in elementary and by accident. Shikamaru went to the teacher and Hinata stayed with Choji because he was rubbing his face and making his hives worse.

Afternoon

Rest of the Konoha 12 except (Hinata Neji and Shikamaru) No Sai yet.

Hinata was too scared to do it on her own in elementary, she tried in middle school and failed, but she succeeded in high school. She has to wake up an extra hour and walk to her stop but she doesn’t after freshman year. She got used to it

Afternoon

Everyone unless they have clubs, even then there is an after after school bus.

Hinata and Neji are on the richer side of town and everyone in middle school often joked about how they are on the west side while everyone else is on the east side.

They all meet on sports day. The other schools were pitted against each other east versus west.

Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto were in a group together and were mocking Neji from a distance.

Naruto: Ew, is that a West sider?!

Sakura: Is that a boy or girl?

Naruto: It doesn’t matter! It’s a west sider!

Hinata from behind them, joins in.

Hinata: Ew a west sider.

Naruto, turning around: You got that r-

Hinata a carbon copy of the guy they were mocking.

Naruto: AH!!! They got us from behind!

Hinata blushes: Naruto-kun 

Naruto: Oh, it’s just you Hinata.

They don’t know each other at this point, Sasuke and Sakura look bamboozled at their interaction.

Hinata is going to therapy for this because her parents are worried and she just wants a break from the whole past life stuff.

Hinata sighs to herself: Not again

Hinata walks off towards where Neji is and leaves Naruto in her wake.

Naruto’s motto: We are here to cause some ruckus, then DIP!!!

It has been ages since the last one but since today is “May the Fourth be with you” and swtor fan appreciation day, I decided to pour all my efforts into making this.

I have to apologize though as the comments on these are not as lengthy as in the previous ones but I really wanted to publish this today and also finally get caught up with the recs posts :P. What program do you use for animation and art in general? And would you recomment Pratt as a college? Its in my state and I'm considering it but I'm debating over Pratt and FIT. You're the only person I ever met ftom Pratt and your opinion would very much be appreciated. Thank you

i currently use krita almost exclusively for art and animation! Occassionally (usually for text formatting or if im being really particular about some final touches) ill use photoshop (CS5) but krita is free and does illustration and animation very well! its perfect for practicing, as it works more like photoshop or SAI than flash. Im trained in flash and toon boom, and while flash can handle some things better (and youd prob learn at school) I prefer to use krita when i can (which isn’t a lot these days as i dont do much animation). Flash is industry standard, but youd prob learn it wherever u go if you take any animation 1 and/or 2 class. Pratt is...strange. They were updating their animation program a bit while and after i was there, so i dont know how much better it is nowadays, but it was kind of a beuracratic mess, particularly with the animation major i was in. The head of the department is NOT a film a or animation professional (he was an ‘interactive’ silk screen printing fine artist or something???) and that made things Very Fine Artsy and difficult to communicate with him our needs as animation students. We kinda got shoved to the side bc we were part of the film department (and not COMD which houses Pratts faves; illustration & graphic design & industrial design). We didn’t get first dibs on a ton of electives (COMD got first picks) and thus missed out on a lot of good profs and classes. COMD also got more help (note: could still get more help but better than what we got which was: “We have an animation Program?”) from Pratt’s job placement resources, and had more options in terms of paid internships and opportunities within the city.Pratt isn’t bad, the facilities and location and people are amazing. Their professors are a mixed bag, but if you pay close attention to your scheduling and options it can be a really positive experience. I can’t wholeheartedly recommend the animation program - but there’s not many animation programs i know of outside of calarts (which has its own mess of issues) I’d wholly recommend either. SVA is slightly better than pratt’s program, as its been around longer and has a bit more clout, and allows/encourages students to collaborate for thesis (also it’s in manhattan), but has its own issues. Pratt strongly discourages collaboration (BAD BAD BAD) and that makes thesis/senior year kind of hellish.Pratt’s illustration program is very good, and honestly If i could do things over again, would probably major in illustration and take animation courses as electives, and be active in the animation club and make friends with the animation students through that. I think a lot of the things learned in their illustration program; composition, theming, technique, sequential art, etc; transfer EXTREMELY well to animation, and were nearly entirely absent from pratt’s animation program (which emphasized purely the technical ability to animate, which was exhausting, and completely impractical to finding work in animation after school, which is mostly storyboarding) Hope this helped at all! IDK much about FIT; my friend took some classes there and absolutely hated it, but i dont remember many specifics. I know a great deal of amazing folk who graduated from SVA and Pratt and are doing well! So even with my negative experience, it’s much more what you do with it than the programs themselves. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to know! Merry Christmas, Everyone

Among all of the rants and hate I’ve seen being thrown around, I’d like to throw around some Christmas love to every single person who has made my life better both in game and even on this website, whether we’re best friends or complete strangers who have never spoken to each other. I likely won’t be able to tag every single person in this, but know if I follow you, I appreciate and adore you.

Also, a special little thanks and appreciation shout out to @risrielthron for encouraging people to share their positive experiences, and for all of the cute Christmas posts that have been making me smile over the past few days. We’ve never talked much before, but you’re such a sweetheart!

I started RPing on this server around four years ago, and it was in fact the first time I’d tried RP in a game like this, and WrA was the first server I’d ever been on. I haven’t really gone anywhere else. One toon on Moon Guard at the request of a friend, but that’s about it. And really, even with all of the hate and drama and shitty nonsense on WrA there’s still some kick ass people over here, and I think that sometimes we forget to appreciate those good people.

If I’m following you, I love seeing you on my dashboard. All of the aesthetic blogs, the meme blogs, all of the RPers that I follow that I’ve maybe never even talked to. And I’m sure there’s a bunch more people that I haven’t even discovered yet. You’re all great. I love seeing posts from people like @susan-gampre, @percy-dewdancer, @high-inquisitor, @cedrickholtstories, @rhysgoodwin, @thalsianiii, @unabashedrebel, and so many others. Pretty much everyone. How you all handle yourselves, all the antics and stories, I admire you guys and what you do even if I’ve hardly spoken to you before.

A thanks to the old friends that have stuck around, those kinds of people that I can talk to even if we hadn’t interacted for weeks at a time. @renlavaye, @fang-and-dagger, @periodictableware, and @ladytaurii are a few, and it’s always really nice to hear from you guys and just be able to chill, see how you all are doing, share millions of cat pictures and memes.

I’m one of those shy people who finds it extremely difficult to reach out to others, even if I really want to get to know someone or maybe spark up some RP. It’s hard even with my friends sometimes, and I’ll mention RP in passing but not often really try to get anything going because I think that I’m just taking away some of their valuable time. It’s something I’m trying to work on, because I want to create more wonderful stories with people. So thank you to anyone who has ever reached out to me first. @your-captain-here and @kenpierce are just a few to name, but to all who have reached out to me either to give a compliment, spark up a conversation, or start up some RP, I really, really appreciate it.

The application of technology in our daily lives have become more important as we all depend on it to accomplish specific complex tasks which could increase the efficiency and productivity of our work dramatically. With the aim to escalate the awareness among tertiary students on the impact of information technology (IT), KDU’s School of Computing and Creative Media (SCCM) organised a one day event – Amazing Race for IT, on the 6 July 2017 at KDU University College Utropolis, Glenmarie.

The Amazing Race for IT event exposed KDU students to hands – on experience in various IT aspects where lecturers and students collaborated to set up various IT booths that could educate the participants on the basic fundamentals of IT such as the field of computer security, computing mathematics, multimedia, business computing and programming. This is to inculcate gamification within IT modules that would be more easily relatable to everyone to learn more effectively. This event also promotes interactivity among the students that could sharpen their communication and soft skills.

There were 3 levels of competitions embedded in this Amazing Race for IT event, such as badges collection, popularity votes for booths, and individual assessments. The rules and regulations for each category are as follow:

Badges collection – Students (participants) have to complete various tasks set up by the KDU students (presenters) from 4 different booths. Each task completed will be awarded a stamp on the individual student’s passport. Upon completing 10, 20, and 30 tasks the student is eligible to collect badges ranking A, B and C respectively.

Popularity votes for booths/tasks – The presenters have to compete among themselves with their creative strategy to gain the popularity votes from the participants that visit their booths. The marks from these will contribute to their assignment grade.

Individual assessment – Marks will be awarded by the respective lecturers to the work produced by the students (presenters) based on rubrics provided by the lecturer.

In this event, students were assigned to participate in group assignments where each group was briefed by their respective lecturers during class sessions. They invented new ideas that could attract other students to take part in their booths which will be presented during the actual day of the event. In order to attract and encourage more students to participate in this educational event, students are rewarded based on the number of stamps collected or task completion, where they will receive different types of uniquely designed and limited edition badges, ranking from A to C based on the points collected from the stamps. Upon completing 10, 20, and 30 tasks the student is eligible to collect badges ranking A, B and C respectively.

There was a myriad of IT booths prepared by the students that encompassed a variety of activities which includes virtual reality, crypto challenge, poster presentation, games demonstration, flowchart jigsaw, and etcetera.

According to Toon Richard, a second-semester student of Diploma in Business Administration, “This event is fun and we can actually learn a lot from it which could be truly useful because of the advanced mathematics questions, introduction to IT and some physical activities involved.” He added, “I also learn on how to communicate more effectively with my peers and other people by engaging directly with them, in this event to learn more about the basics of IT.”

Grace Ang Kye Yen, a second-semester student of Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) mentioned, “It is something different than what we normally do, which is outside of the classroom, hence this is more interactive as we get to interact with students from other schools.” She added, “From participating in this event, I have learned on how to work with crew members and how to interact with other people as I am able to explain what I understand to them in a simplified manner.” The Amazing Race for IT event has not only managed to generate interest in IT for the students, but more importantly, it had brought people together to appreciate what technology has to offer in our life.
