why do you even like skyward sword zelda
Oooooo, anon you finna make my followers hate me even more since I don’t shut the fuck up about one beautiful sky Zelda. In short:
In long? Well, I’ll place it under the read more. Juuuuust in case I do actually get super rambly ramble with this girl because I can like talk hours. Excuse the mistakes, I’ll get to editing them once I learn how to read again. I tend to go off when I ramble and not check anything until later on. Bear with me, please!
I’m not even sure where to start?! I suck at getting my thoughts out into cohesive enough reading pieces because ADHD is just hell brain going 755034 miles per minute and expecting everyone to keep up sometimes. I feel like everything I’ve said has been said before... but, I’m always totally ready to ramble once more because it’s something I can never be tired of and is very on-brand of me to yell about either sky or ALTTP Zelda. I’m just super passionate about these girls!
What drew me to Skyward Sword Zelda in the first place is the aesthetic of her game as well as her design as a whole. I remember seeing the trailer for SS drop and how hyped I was. The cel-shading was back with a vengeance with a nice combo of the art style we see in TP too rather than the more toon style with WW and I feel like it worked beautifully, the graphics for the game never fail to amaze me and I love the watercolor look they went with in both the official art and game! I knew I would love this Zelda and guess what, I was right in that because spoiler alert: I LOVED this Zelda the minute we were introduced to her. Not her first physical appearance because all we saw was her beautiful dress design... well, ok this did help in making me love this girl. BUT her first introduction as to who she is as a character in the letter sent to Link. She’s cheeky in the letter and it gives us this sense that the two of them really are on a more familiar level with each other, compared to every other relationship with Zelda and Link where they are strangers bound by fate to save Hyrule. It’s very simple, a few sentences but all that simplicity painted a good enough sense as to what we were in for with Zelda and her friendship with Link.
HOOOOOOO BOY HOOOO BOY!!! And then we see her, and we see Link smiling at her like it’s the first time seeing her ever despite seeing her yesterday. And gosh, she’s just a charming character overall!! She’s funny, someone who likes to tease others and carries a strong sense of justice! She can be pushy (literally and figuratively speaking) but she does mean well by the end of the day and is aggressive in showing support for you! She’s an optimist mostly for friends because she thinks that things will turn out alright for her friends and she wishes that they can see the same too so often she will encourage them. She’s not a princess. She’s very ordinary here, and that ordinariness illustrates both Sky and Tetra best because of how lighthearted and open they are. Granted they’re not super lax and are still very responsible like all Zeldas but they’re pretty informal and I love that about them!
Sky Zel is someone who’s pretty straightforward, she has no issue with letting both her body and facial expression do the talking for her as such she doesn’t really hide much. She’s an open book of sorts all while being someone who expresses her mind and isn’t roundabout in saying things, she has no issue with calling you out as shown with how she called out Groose and his bullying on Link. On top of that, she does call out Link a few times too depending on the choices you give in-game! Skyward Sword did an excellent job in making Sky Zel so likable and adding nuance to her relationship with Link through the little things in the first few minutes of the game and it’s like, damn you kinda wanna see her again all safe and happy!
It reminds me of how Wind Waker starts off with Aryll and Link having a wholesome brother-sister bond and it motivates you to rescue her because you’re sure that Link wants to see Aryll home safe and happy again with Grandma.
It’s a shame how we don’t see her journey throughout the game and see how she becomes the more melancholic, wise girl we see during her scene where she falls asleep for over 1000+ years or the full extent of her relationship with Impa either because I’m sure those two had a pretty good bond going too for Zelda to react like that during the end where Impa fucking dies hweoh. That’s another thing too, there’s a whole other layer to Sky aside from Genki. Yes, she’s cheery and seems like your typical anime heroine but keep in mind that she was Hylia, a goddess who fought for her people to protect them, the lands, and the Triforce. She was in a war, she had to see so many of her people die that she loved and vowed to protect because of one demon’s greed to have the power of the gods. Hylians were weak back then, Demise says this straight up. So death was very likely in those days.
She had to endure a lot during that time, once Zelda’s memories of her past life came back she grew up from that girl we see at the beginning of the game. It’s also worth noting, that Zelda and Hylia have different mindsets. She may have her memories back but that doesn’t really mean she’s back to being Hylia fully before she became mortal. I’ve talked about it before but Zelda, with her ordinary background, grew up surrounded by love. In other words, she has a more compassionate heart than she did as a goddess. Gods and deathless beings overall have a long lifespan, they tend to forget about morals and how humans worked. While Hylia did love her people and the lands her love is different from mortals as such it can be very painful. I mean *gestures to Sky Link* there you go. It’s why she’s so remorseful of her actions... but the ending scene where she tells Link she wants to live on The Surface tells me that there are still shades of that playful gremlin we saw in the first half of Skyward Sword. She’s someone who’s hopeful for tomorrow but likes to live in the now and make a brighter tomorrow. She won’t hide away from the past, willing to admit to her mistakes and refusing to make excuses, but she won’t let it define her either and will instead grow from it. She wants to protect the people she loves and the world she loves much like she did in her past life but with more empathy with that love!
I think that’s all for her as a character aside from one more thing to add:
It’s cool to me how she’s not a princess, but a literal Goddess. She’s legit Hylia. So she’s unique in that aspect and she serves as an explanation as to why the royal family even has divine powers because her blood is passed down to them. I don’t buy fanon theory that all Zeldas are reincarnations of Hylia, I think Sky is the rare case of Zelda reincarnating. There’s no evidence to support either theory because Nintendo tends to be open-ended in their lore for the most part... although Demise makes it a point to say “those with the blood of the goddess” rather than the “spirit of the goddess” like he does with Link which is something that Ghirahim and Demise wanted from Zelda, aka the Spirit Maiden, to bring Demise’s form back from the seal Hylia placed on him. Her very soul has divinity to it.
On top of that, in BOTW it’s explained that the sealing power has been passed down and that Zelda’s mother knew how to use it as did her grandmother and so on. So... with that in mind how on earth is Hylia around for both those ladies and the current Zelda we see in BOTW if every Zelda ever is the reincarnation of her? On top of that BOTW Zel says in her diary that she had a dream where a woman in white tried to call out to her so??? Huh? What? It creates a plot hole if you think every Zelda is Hylia reincarnating. And sort of takes away the fun headcanon of Zeldas interacting in the Spirit Realm. That said, I’d like to think her presence is eternal through the powers that become unlocked rather than Hylia herself. If that makes sense? It’s not literally Hylia reincarnating but a connection made with her. This might not be making much sense haha. But! Reincarnation is a thing I do think is possible in LOZ since BOTW does say this but I don’t think it’s not as straightforward as fandom thinks it is and I’d like to think it’s more nuanced. People tend to cite Avatar sometimes and ehhhhh. No.
But that’s just me on that one.
ANYWAY THAT IS ALL THANKS FOR COMING TO THIS RAMBLE
#ooc postings.#gosh what do i even tag this as?#shut up amber.#there we go...#anyway sorry to new mutuals and old mutuals. this is hell.#GOOD LUCK READING THIS ON MY THEME I NEED TO FIX THE PLACEMENT OF THAT BLUE FREAKING FEATHER DSHJBVAKD#sorry for that... mobile might be your best bet haha

Mitski Birth Chart Reading
This is just my interpretation based on Mitski’s birth chart and what I know of her music. Let me know if you have any suggestions of someone I should make a post on next! If you’re interested, I offer natal chart readings, just check my pinned post!
Libra sun: In terms of basic personality and ego, Mitski is focused on creating balanced, harmonic relationships. Intimate, one-on-one relationships are a major part of her identity. Libra is ruled by venus which represents love and beauty. After all, she is known for her lyrics relating to her romantic relationships. The lyric “I love everybody because I love you” is so profoundly Libra to me. She is friendly and charming. She sees herself reflected and other people and people see themselves reflected in her (for better or worse). Venus also rules the arts and Mitski is a natural artist in every sense of the word. Her music sonically is very unique, inventive, and creative as she experiments with mixing different genres. This is influenced by her sun in the 11th house. Sun in the 11th house also indicates an emphasis on friendships and memberships of certain groups and communities. It also indicates an importance of her hopes and dreams. Her sun in 3° explains why she is such a talented writer, communicator, and lyricist. Peak libra sun culture: “Young adult romance is the shit” (a real quote from the queen herself). And let’s not forget her iconic quote from 2016: “I’m a libra so my sexuality is essentially “you can really be any gender as long as you treat me like a princes.” Truer words have never been spoken.
Capricorn moon: Despite how personal her music is, Mitski is a rather private and reserved person, particularly when it comes to expressing her emotions. Also, Capricorn is associated with the father and she has been known to be especially private regarding her dad’s career. She is serious and intense with emotions but can sometimes get detached. The emphasis is on having control over her feelings. She is ambitious and a practical person. Her emotions are connected to her career. Those who do not know her well may see her as cold. In temperament she tends to be melancholic. Emotionally mature and wise beyond her years. Straightforward and honest with her expression. She is dependable, loyal, hard working, & realistic. Emotional fulfillment is often tied to achievement and success. Her moon in the 2nd house and 2° suggests material comforts make her feel safe. With the 2nd house being associated with venus, she is able to express her emotions in an artistic way. Could be protective over material objects. Sentimental. Music has a big impact on her emotions and mood. Peak capricorn moon culture: “I didn’t really feel anything. I’ve stopped feeling things for a long time” - Mitski, The Fader Interview, 2017. In all seriousness, I hope my capricorn moons are doing good.
Virgo mercury: Mitski is practical and detail oriented when it comes to communication and matters of learning. She takes the time to choose the right words to convey her thoughts. She is clear and concise. Mercury is in its sign of rulership here. Her mercury in the 10th house suggests that she will be known for her communication style. Has a lot of thoughts but is also organized. Analytical. Mitski likes making lists. Loves to give advice. Mercury is in 16° (cancer degree) and she has a soft spoken voice. Talks about the past and her roots (cancerian themes).
Virgo venus: In love, Mitski will assume a caretaking role and will gladly help her partner finish mundane tasks and chores. A devoted and faithful lover. Love is about the mundane and routine details of life. Love is about service. Acts of service tend to be virgo venus’ main love language. She wants to help improve her partner’s life. She is patient and observant. Values love that is simple and authentic. Appreciates a partner with whom she can have intellectual conversations. May have a tendency to be too critical on herself when it comes to love. Venus rules aesthetics & style and she tends to have a modest fashion sense. Mitski has voiced her interest in astrology and how she has asked people she’s interested for their birth times lmao. Her venus is in the 11th house, she treats a lover like she would treat a friend. In fact, romantic love probably equates to platonic love in her book. She has her venus in 24° which is a pisces degree, which explains this natural interest in astrology.
Gemini mars: Could be impatient because she moves quickly. Efficient. Has a lot of goals and likes to keep busy. She thrives when she talks to others and exchanged ideas. Likes to multitask. Very versatile. Probably has a flirty, bubbly energy when she’s attracted to someone. Attracted to intellect. Desire to see things from multiple perspectives. Gemini rules the hands so she’s skilled with playing instruments and writing. Likes to try new things. Witty and humorous. Could have nervous energy or fidget often.
Leo jupiter: The planet of luck and expansion in Leo is a big indicator of fame. Her jupiter is also in the 9th house and in 7°. Jupiter in the 9th indicates being born in a different country from where you reside now. Mitski is biracial and has lived in multiple countries growing up. She loves to learn, particularly about other cultures and ways of life. She is open minded, philosophical and values freedom and being independent. She attracts good fortune when she travels (touring!) and also when she focuses on partnerships/intimate relationships (7°). Combining this energy, Mitski attracts luck when she acts dramatically, demonstrates/teaches her knowledge, expresses herself artistically, shows her warm hearted and sometimes stubborn side, & takes chances, shows her bravery, and takes the lead. Be the Cowboy is big leo energy 🤠
Capricorn saturn: Mitski is responsible, practical, goal-oriented, and cautious. With saturn in the 3rd house, she probably had to grow up quickly and become mature at a young age. Capricorn saturn people tend to be very successful people. Strong willed. Tendency to be quiet and is a good listener. Could also be outspoken. With saturn in 18° (virgo degree), she’s very hard working but she may need to learn how to take a break and let herself rest and recharge.
Capricorn uranus: This placement also indicates that she goes after her goals and is efficient and practical in achieving them. Uranus being in the 2nd house shows that she could make money from being unique and groundbreaking. 2nd house also rules the voice! Her values are unique and she could be resistant to change them. Her self esteem could be in a constant state of flux and be tied to money. Her income could rapidly change, like maybe she did not get paid much but then suddenly she starts making a lot of money. Uranus is in 5° which is a fame degree. She’s famous for being authentically herself and very much an individual in the industry that can’t be compared.
Capricorn neptune: Capricorn neptunes are most likely realists. She is skilled at going after her dreams. Her dreams are practical and connected to themes of wealth, power, and control. Neptune in 3rd house shows a dreamy, poetic way of communicating. A very creative placement. Dreamy vibes. Could be elusive in communication, open for interpretation. Neptune is in 11° so this gives aquarian energy. Idealistic with friends and always searching for ways to achieve her dreams.
Scorpio pluto: Her power lies in her ability to analayze human interactions and be introspective with herself since it’s in the 1st house. She is very self aware. Mitski understands that life is about going through changes and she welcomes the ability to grow and rebuild. She has intense, deep emotions but has control over them and how she expresses them. Pluto in 16° adds a cancerian energy. Her strength lies in her ability to nurture and be empathetic.
Scorpio rising: First impressions of Mitski can be that she’s mysterious and secretive. A powerful and intimidating presence. This explains to me why she loves dressing in black. She probably has a strong dislike for anything superficial. She likes to get to know people on a deeper level and connect with them. She likes honesty and is probably very perceptive and intuitive. Privacy is so important to her! She has a lot of layers and wants people to unpack them, but it may take her a while to open up. She is powerful and has endurance. Her presence leaves an impact on people. Loyalty and intimacy is important. She’s not afraid to talk about taboo topics or scary, heavier emotions. Passionate and even a tendency to get fixed on or obsessed with something or someone. Her rising is in 15° (gemini degree) so she’s clever, curious, and thinks quickly. a little more flexible than a regular Scorpio rising would be.
Leo midheaven: People might see her as dramatic or arrogant. In the public eye, she was meant to be a performer. At her concerts she’s known for putting on a good show & includes interpretive dance and choreography. She becomes herself more when she’s on stage. The stage is where she shines. Has a lot of pride connected to her career. Reputation for creatively expressing herself and being brave and taking risks. Wants to be admired, especially regarding her career. Her purpose is to become a leader. Mc in 22° (capricorn degree) shows that she is a very hard worker when it comes to her career. She won’t let anyone stop her when it comes to achievement and success in her field. Another indicator of being at the top of her career and being publicly recognized for it!
TLDR: Mitski is a natural born singer, performer and artist. She is unique, talented, and an introspective writer. Being earth and water dominant, she balances practicality & stability with sentimentality & raw emotion. With all of her Capricorn placements, she is grounded and doesn’t let fame get to her head. Her chart ruler is Scorpio pluto in the 1st which means that major transformations will be a big theme in her life, especially regarding herself & her identity. She is always reflecting and looking at herself on a deep level.

hey girl💐i’d luv a chance to guess ur Mercury sign.. my guess is Capricorn Mercury, ur writings are very organized n straight to the point, smart too. Whether or not I’m right, i wish u a nice day/nite👑
this my chart;) thank u, take care!
Hey! You got it right, congratulations! Have a good day too ^^
Welcome to your reading. Please remember to send feedback.
First impressions when looking at your chart: sea-saw chart shape; MC-IC axis at anaretic degree
SUN IN TAURUS
Your Sun sign is Taurus. You embody the Venusian energy well: you enjoy the finer things in life. This sign is best known for being stubborn; with this amount of Taurus energy, I’m sure you’re quite stubborn, which is a more negative way of saying determined. When you get an idea in your head, you won’t rest until you achieve it. You’re quite friendly and probably enjoy gossip. You’re reliable and hardworking. Being a fixed sign, I’d say you’re most likely not great at dealing with change; you prefer things staying the same. Comfort is important to you, be it literally or figuratively. You are very attached to your earthly possessions; furthermore, I’d say you have a bit of a radical mindset when it comes to money: you’re either too frugal or you spend too much money. Beware of possessiveness and laziness.
SUN IN THE 4TH HOUSE
This placement is somewhat similar to Cancer Sun. I'd say family life is very important to you, as is your home, emotional security and harmony. In order to grow as a person, you should take your time cultivating your positive traits. You may struggle to understand who you really are: the answer is inside, not outside. At the same time, there may be a tendency to emulate behaviours of those closest to you, which may contribute to the aforementioned lack of self-knowledge. Focus on yourself; practice mindfulness. There may also be some sort of conflict with your father or another father figure. Perhaps this person was overly dominating toward you, which may hinder your journey to self-discovery. You may, in time, develop those same characteristics. However, this placement may start to manifest more strongly later in life.
MOON IN TAURUS
The Moon is exalted in Taurus. Placed here, the Moon is quite happy, for this sign goes nicely with its characteristics: family-oriented, home, comfort, calm, familiar things, loving and caring. As with Taurus Sun, you may place a big importance on material things. With the Moon, however, it’s a bit different: you may develop an emotional attachment to some belongings of yours, perhaps because they provide you security. You’re the kind of person to stay home and enjoy a hearty meal, cuddle in front of the fireplace and enjoy sleeping in a comfy bed. You’re quite calm and caring; however, expressing your emotions may not be your strong suit. You should work on your deep attachment issues because they can destroy you if the object of that attachment abandons you.
MOON IN THE 4TH HOUSE
Once again, the Moon is quite happy here, which is the house it rules. This placement ensures that you have a strong connection to your roots: namely, family and home life; it could also be interpreted as your geographic location. Unlike the Sun, 4H Moon wants to feel like a part of the family structure. Your home is probably your refuge when things get difficult. You want harmony and safety in your everyday life. You are probably sensitive and caring and these traits make you someone appreciated both at home and in the workplace. Also, this is a good placement for parents. However, you may lack objectivity, often letting your feelings influence your opinions. You feel deeply.
MERCURY IN GEMINI
This is one of the two signs ruled by Mercury. Gemini embodies the more chatty, talkative side of Mercury. You are curious, intelligent and love to possess and acquire knowledge of every kind. You are good at both writing and speaking; however, speaking is probably the thing for which you are known. Gemini is known as the sign that never shuts up; this is particularly true in your case, with Mercury in this sign. However, since your mind is always racing, you may lack an attention span, always going from one thing to the other. Staying committed to tasks and goals may be a problem for you because you get tired of things quickly. You are good with words and love to socialize. Emotions may be rationalized.
MERCURY IN THE 5TH HOUSE
This is a great placement for artists, especially those whose fields are ruled by Mercury, such as writers. It allows you to pour all your creativity and originality into your craft. Your many ideas are expressed in fun ways and your show a jovial way of seeing things. You may enjoy puzzles or other activities that involve strategy, as well as sports (yes, because sports also require tactics). Basketball, for example, would be a good sport for someone with this placement. Additionally, it's a good Mercury position for someone who works with kids or teenagers, as well as parents. You are creative and fun and it shows.
VENUS IN GEMINI
As is the case of Air Venus, Gemini Venus requires a partner that will spend hours with them talking about anything. You seek a partner that is intelligent and educated and who can hold a conversation. If the other person cannot keep up with you intellectually, it will probably be a huge turn-off. You want someone who is as smart as you, someone who makes you laugh and accepts your quirky nature. However, it may be difficult to find such a partner. You are not great at expressing your emotions, so connecting head and heart is a way to help this. Also, you tend to not show you truly think and you're always joking, so people probably wonder about how you actually feel about them. You are probably quite indecisive when it comes to love and relationships.
VENUS IN THE 6TH HOUSE
Here, Venus gives great importance to things associated with Virgo: routine, health, job. It is important for you to have your routine and to plan things. Once you acquire a habit, it is difficult to let go of it ("Old habits die hard."). Similarly, it is important that you incorporate activities with your partner in your daily schedule. Funnily enough, it is routine that makes you miss things you no longer have: for example, if you lose a friend, you may miss them more because you used to talk every day. You enjoy working on projects that make you feel like you're doing something meaningful; your chosen profession must fulfil you. You want a harmonious workplace that makes you feel happy to work. Also, you have an eye for detail. There can be a need to obsess about your health, as well as your loved ones'.
MARS IN GEMINI
Gemini Mars, to me, indicates that your battlefield is words. Your “attack” is how you think, connect the dots and put your opinions into words. This placement makes me think that you have vast knowledge in almost everything and you’re willing to debate with anyone about anything. I’d say you’re also good at multitasking and bad at routines. You could do with a bit more determination; Gemini is a sign known for its indecisiveness, so you may struggle with carrying out your thoughts and ideas. You have many different interests and can change them up quite a lot, sort of similar to Gemini Mercury. You would do well to be a little more committed to your interests and ambitions.
MARS IN THE 6TH HOUSE
The planet of action has its joy in this house, according to the principles of Hellenistic Astrology. Mars strongly wants to take action, but the 6th house forces it to be more methodical and less impulsive. Your workplace may become your figurative battlefield. You need to be active in everyday life, but you also want to feel that what you're doing is meaningful and makes you feel useful. Mars here acts strongly and concretely in areas of life that are related to work, mainly career, as I mentioned. This seems to be a good position for a leader in the workplace. Similar to Venus, 6H Mars may worry a lot about the body. A great deal of your energy may be directed into taking care of it, perhaps going to the gym is an activity you enjoy.
JUPITER IN CANCER
Jupiter is exalted in this sign. The planet of expansion and luck finds in Cancer a good means of expressing its energy, for the sign is a sensitive one. Whilst Cancer is already sweet and caring, Jupiter expands these traits even more. You are generally a calm person, who empathizes with people's feelings and has a need to both listen and talk to others. However, you can become very fierce when someone messes with those you love. You probably have a very motherly side to you that draws people in. Additionally, I have said that Cancer is the most intuitive sign: Jupiter in Cancer only makes this even more so. Listen to your intuition, which is quite accurate; learn to trust your gut feelings (for example, you guessed my Capricorn sign correctly :D).
JUPITER IN THE 7TH HOUSE
This placement is a highly auspicious one for relationships and partnerships of any kind. It elevates even more Cancer Jupiter because it allows you to fully connect with people on a deep level. You possess the ability to communicate with others and understand their feelings, which makes you someone quite great around which to be. It also favours the expansion of knowledge. All of this applies to romantic relationships as well. You may get into them easily and seem to usually enter the right ones (Jupiter grants you luck). You are quite a caring, sweet partner and bring a very good, calm energy to your relationships. However, this can be a paradoxical placement: on one side, you want that security with your partner and want them to be dedicated to you; on the other, you need your freedom. Balancing these two can be quite tricky, so your partner must understand both of these sides of you.
SATURN IN GEMINI
Saturn here may cause you to be unsure about the themes of Gemini: communication, thinking and expressing yourself. This can cause you to be afraid to speak in public or to withhold voicing your true opinions. You may delve into the study of every area of life or, on the contrary, avoid it at all costs. You probably ponder your words before you speak them. You may have a tendency to be introverted due to this. In a past life, you may have misused your voice, so your purpose in this life is to learn the power of your words. Also, you probably struggle with order, discipline and setting realistic goals. Saturns wants you to learn how to deal with these topics in this lifetime. You may have a lack of self-esteem due to the problems aforementioned. It is important that you work on these blockages.
SATURN IN THE 6TH HOUSE
You can feel responsible for other people, especially your coworkers, even if you struggle getting along with them. There’s a need to serve, to be of use to others; you may find it hard to relax. You are quite organized, so you’d do well to make use of it. You could also be the type to help others in the way to their goals. However, you should also understand that, sometimes, you should just let go and go with the flow. Not everything in life is about hard work, routines or responsibilities. Find something that excites you; try some meditation. There may also be some health issues, perhaps you had them in your childhood. ⬛

Submit To Me!
All professions are riddled with systemic flaws that everyone knows about, and yet very little is done to fix them. For playwrights and musical theatre writers the systemic flaw that I hear complained about the most is the submissions process.
Now, these complaints are completely justified. The problem with the system is…well, there isn’t one.
In the professional theatre world - at least where play and musical submissions are concerned - it’s a total free-for-all. (and not the enjoyable kind, like a lovely game of Super Smash Bros. on the good ole Nintendo 64! …no? just me being a video game dinosaur? oh coo, cool…)
And like most problems, this one gets completely ignored and nothing is really done to change it. Well, I won’t say completely ignored. Writers talk about this all the time - how messy, inconsistent, biased, and often expensive the submission process can be (yes, many come with attached fees). But the people who have the power to do something about it (aka the Theaters and the theatrical community members who receive submissions) either don’t want to change the way they do things, don’t want to engage in the discussion, don’t have the time, or aren’t aware that there is a better way to go about all of this.
And there is a better way, isn’t there?
“Opportunity Is Not A Lengthy…whoa, but there are so many opportunities!”
For those of you who are not theatre writers and have never gone through the process, here’s a little peak into the world of submissions.
The first thing to note is what types of opportunities you can submit for. There’s:
Competitions - Prizes are usually monetary, but sometimes also come with readings, workshops, or (in rare cases) full productions. And the institutions may cover your travel to see the fruits of this, or they may not.
Festivals - Festivals range: geographically, in numbers of participants, in what is provided, in how many performances are allotted, in administrative and creative support from the organization, and in fees to participate. But what they all have in common is that, at the end of the day, you either need to have a producer raising the money for you or you will be producing this yourself. And they range from your local Fringe festival to Edinburgh to NYMF.
Residencies - Generally these are lovely retreat-style blocks of time set aside for a writer or writing team to go somewhere secluded and pretty, and to get a great deal of work done without the pressures and stressors of regular life. Often room and board is covered, though not always, and sometimes you are provided with access to rehearsal space, recording equipment, full living access, other artists, and/or a presentation gathering of some sort at the end of the stay.
Conferences - These include the “biggies” like NAMT and the O’Neill. Conferences are like a mixture between a residency and a festival - you reside in a place for the length of the conference and workshop your material, and at the end there is a large presentation. The larger conferences are highly sought after due to the fact that they attract producers and industry professionals looking for projects to take on.
Theaters and Theatre Companies - Although there is a sizable difference in the result of submitting to a large regional equity house versus your friend’s small theatre company that started last week, in both cases you are submitting to an entity that you hope will take on the burden of producing your material for you (in comparison with self-producing, as in a festival). These entities all have mission statements and many of them also have specific new works programming, and if your material fits what they are looking for then you can submit with the hope of getting programmed into a future season.
New Works Development Opportunities - Many of these are part of a Theater or Theatre Company’s set path to producing new material. The opportunities might be a reading, a workshop, a script analysis, a staged reading, etc., or there may be tiers of opportunities that you will be considered for. And if you are accepted, then the participants in these opportunities are then put in a pipeline of consideration for the one new works production slot for the following season. Though each theatre company treats their own programs quite differently, and these can vary greatly.
Awards - Much like competitions…well, really these are competitions. But like a theatre company, awarding entities come with mission statements that specify what kind of artists and what kind of works they are looking to award. And the awards are monetary and often quite large. For instance, the Kleban Award ($100,000) is specifically for musical theatre Librettists and Lyricists (two separate awards). Other times the work must fit within specific parameters, or the artists must be from a certain geographical area or ethnic background.
People - Producers or artists in whom you are interested. Generally, these submissions are more personal and have no parameters, and they only tend to be successful when you already have a connection to the person you’re contacting.
Cold Submissions - There are thousands and thousands of theatrical entities out there, and sometimes they have no submission policies whatsoever. Maybe that means they don’t take submissions, or maybe it just means they have no official policy for them. Cold submitting an inquiry rarely works out unless you have a connection to someone at the theatre, in which case it’s probably better to submit to the person than the entity. Well, that’s my opinion at least!
And that is just the spread of what exists out there that you could possibly submit to. Whoa. Right?
And let us keep in mind that this is you - the writer - submitting to these places. Unless you are lucky and/or rich enough to have a secretary that does this for you, then you are the person looking through all of these opportunities, checking websites, researching people and theaters, making lists of deadlines, writing up all of the submission materials and statements and cover letters, and sending the emails or filling out the online forms. That’s a lot of time and work.
But never fear! There are websites dedicated to helping writers find submission opportunities and that give the deadlines so you can plan on when and how to submit!
Now, granted, some of these websites are really looking to make money off of you and this information (paying for subscriptions and whatnot). And some are far more comprehensive than others. But the Dramatists Guild Submissions Calendar and Play Submission Helper are probably the most comprehensive of the sites for American submissions, and both are quite helpful.
“I’ll take…one with everything - but hold the synopsis!”
So what exactly do the writers submit? What are the limitations or parameters?
Well, if you thought they types of submission opportunities were varied, then just you wait (Henry Higgins)!
The first thing I will point out is that many of these submissions to the more prominent institutions and producing entities are agent submission only. Theatrical writing agents are not nearly as plentiful as acting agents, which really limits the groups that are able to submit to these places. Which is of course the point. Sometimes there will be a way to submit an inquiry if you don’t have representation, but more often than not you are simply out of luck. Rough times. (“No Submission Without Represen-tition…!”???)
Another limitation that might exist is needing the accompaniment of a professional recommendation letter to your submission - preferably from a recognized theatrical institution. There can be even more restrictions than this, but they aren’t as common as the agent restriction.
But if there is a submission policy that is open to the general theatrical writing public, then there are myriad types of materials that might be requested of you. This list below will include a mix of information that might be asked of both playwrights and musical theatre writers:
Log Line - A one-sentence description of the show and its themes. Not quite a tag line or hook, and also not quite a synopsis. These are pretty rare outside of in-person pitches.
Short Synopsis - These are almost always restricted to a certain word count. For instance, The King’s Legacy has different short synopsis versions in: 100 words, 150 words, 250 words, and 500 words. Writers must do their best to summarize the plot, main characters, and themes of their shows within these word counts.
Treatment/1-Page Synopsis - A little more lenient than the short synopsis - though strict on the page limitation - these synopses are the opportunity for the writer to give a full blow-by-blow of the entire plot for their show. Now is the time to say exactly what happens, when, and how. No worries about mystery or spoilers here - they want to know the ending.
10-Page Dialogue Sample - A small sampling of the feel of the show. Generally best to start at the beginning if you can, but if that doesn’t show off the piece at its best, then it can be acceptable to choose ten pages from elsewhere in the script.
20-Page Dialogue Sample - These should definitely start at the beginning. If you aren’t showing off your best work in the first twenty pages, it might be time to give the top of the show another pass.
Lyrics with Descriptions - For musical submissions these are fairly common. Choose [2/3/4/6/8/12] songs from your show (yes, I’ve had all of those restrictions at some point) to send. They want the full lyric to the song, but with a detailed description of the characters, plot placement, and other context.
Music Demos - Again, the number of these may vary. Most submissions are very forgiving on the quality of the recording as long as the music isn’t garbled and the lyrics are understandable. Occasionally you are allowed to send demos for the entire show!
Links to Media - Many online forms will include a box to add links to other media, though this generally means Videos if you have them. Youtube links, or a link to a Video page or a playlist, are great items to have!
Production History - Exactly like it sounds. It’s a list of where and when the show has been produced. If it has not yet been produced, or has only had a couple full productions, then provide a list of where it has been developed, in what manner, and when.
Other Relevant Materials - This is the space to add in any of the other materials that this submission did not specifically ask for. Or this is a great place to include a link to your website if you have one (and you should!).
Artist Bio or Resume - It’s always one or the other, not both. Why? I am unsure. But have these handy always!
Artistic Statement - Now we come to the parts that take the most time per submission. Artistic Statements are basically personal essays that speak to who you are as an artist, what your goals are, and why you do what you do. They must also be catered toward the place you are submitting to, particularly if they have a mission statement readily available.
Letter of Intent - Similar to an Artistic Statement, but these are usually laid out for you with specific questions to answer in the body of the letter. (ie. Tell us about…? Why our theatre? What do you hope to accomplish with this opportunity? etc.) It’s part Cover Letter, part Artistic Statement.
Cover Letter - Or Letter of Inquiry. These are used to introduce yourself, speak about how you found the opportunity and why you are interested, and to introduce the piece you are submitting. Generally, less than one page is desirable for these letters. And sometimes this is just the email that precedes all of the asked-for submission materials.
Full Script (and Score) - You lucky duck! They’re going to read your show! Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen nearly as often as we all would like.
Blind Materials - Sometimes theaters ask for any of the above-mentioned materials without the writer’s name, for a more fair and unbiased judging of submissions. There aren’t a ton of opportunities that ask for this, but it’s good to have blind copies available just in case.
Dizzy yet?
These materials can be (and are!) asked for in any combination without even a semblance of consistency between the submission processes. And because every submission opportunity is different, it takes a great deal of time to write up every submission that you send out. Not to mention that you want to have done your research and personalized the submission as much as possible.
*Tip: Keep track of your submissions in a document! Write down what you sent, to whom, and on what date. It’s great to be able to reference back!!
Can We Consolidate?
As you see, this is a mess of a system. So the question becomes: can we consolidate all of this information?
Well, there is an entity out there who is trying to do just that! They are called The New Play Exchange. Their mission is essentially to be the hub where writers go to upload their pieces and all attached materials, where submission opportunities go to post and search out what they are looking for, and where producers and directors can go to search out scripts of a certain criteria so they can read what they are interested in. It’s a fantastic idea, but it’s definitely still in its youth and will need more time to make a greater impact.
I don’t know what any other answers may be, but if there was a standard submission packet that everyone took for every opportunity, it would make the theatrical world far more productive. Writers wouldn’t have to spend so much of their writing time doing specific and varied submissions, and institutions would know exactly what they are going to receive from writers (whether or not they care to look at all of it). All I know is, there must be a better way.
I could say oodles more about submitting to opportunities, but I think I’ll leave it here for now. Honestly, I have two submission opportunities in my inbox right now and, well, that means I’ve got some deadlines to hit!
Until next time, folks!

Let’s read Hiveswap Friendsim... volume 8!
Welcome back, apologies it’s been a good couple of weeks since the last one of these. Last time, we had a fun entertaining art heist and a fun horrifically traumatising mass murder! What are we in for next?
This episode is called Of Stresses, Song and Otherwise. Our trolls today are...
Tyzias and Chixie. Tyzias looks like a programmer (though so far ‘computer nerd’ stereotypes tend to be yellow bloods, not teal), while Chixie... not sure what her deal’s gonna be! (Watch as I get everything wrong again.) Not sure if Tyzias’s horns are naturally like that or if they’ve been cut.
Tyzias
Tyzias is written by Lalo Hunt, who has previously written Tagora - clearly someone with a thing for teals!
Tyzias’s theme kicks in almost immediately. As now seems to be standard for tealbloods, we have harpsichords.
Our narrator is starting to get the slightest hint of like... restraint about the ‘MUST BEFRIEND EVERYONE THAT MOVES’ attitude. They actually don’t immediately go for like... jumping on Tyzias and trying to forcibly befriend her, but walk past... unfortunately she falls over. Impressively, she keeps her coffee cup level despite tripping over a rock.
Her typing quirk seems to be using lowercase letters, and repeating all uses of ‘w’ and ‘m’ four times. OK...
The narrator convinces themselves that this is the prelude to some kind of teen romance where they’re the cool person who helps the fallen nerd. Uh huh. Our extremely cool protagonist.
So we start helping her out and find she’s a lawyer. That’s like... every tealblood we’ve met now? Canon said they were also civil servants but OK, I guess everyone just loves Terezi. (To be fair, I also love Terezi.)
We get our first choice, prompted by the realisation that she’s a lawyer:
Tradition dictates that one of these is an instant-death option. I can’t help but expect that the ‘obvious’ choice, picking up more papers, will be the one that fucks us over.
...maybe not. We carry on going, and find out our dear friend Tagora has been talking about us, and he may be in a ‘group project’ with Tyzias here...
We spend some more time trying to get her papers together, against the best efforts of the wind. The narration emphasises just how tired Tyzias looks - quite the contrast from Tagora.
In fact, that carries us all the way up to the second choice. We can either suggest a breather, or trying to sort it somewhere else.
Let’s take a breather.
Insufflation sacks! Guessing that’s a narrator improvisation rather than actual Troll terms.
We take her to a ruined tower, which the narrator has apparently been spending time in when they’re not busily befriending every troll who survives long enough to get a portrait. This merits a new background.
She’s not hugely impressed by the idea of urbex (unrelatable tbh, if an alien appeared and wanted to take me to do urbex i would be there in a heartbeat), but the narrator actually shows some backbone and encourages her to climb up anyway. (I guess our broken ribs have healed some by now? I can’t honestly remember if we’ve fixed them all in this particular series of branches...)
Tyzias explains to us a bit about the political order on Alternia - that the Condesce rules, and this used to be a watchtower before she got higher-tech drones and so on. She doesn’t seem entirely happy about ‘her imperial bitchiness’...
We reminder that she’s teal, which uh... gee, narrator.
Looks like we’ve found an Actual Decent Person troll! Wow.
She’s particularly fed up with her whole role in the system, which she describes as the work to maintain suffering - because everyone is guilty, no matter what, and trials are just a formality.
Depressed, exhausted, horrified by her society... this troll is pretty relatable after all actually.
We ask about political parties (lol, good luck) and rebellious movements. She fills us in a bit on what we know to be the Signless/Sufferer’s rebellious movement, and the subsequent rebellion by the Summoner (which someone might have written up an infographic about for you... pssst).
Tyzias keeps going in a spirit of ‘ah, fuck it’. And gets more confident as she does...
Sounds like she’s got some kind of radical law project in mind. To me, the idea of changing the system within is like... kinda obviously never gonna achieve the substantial change needed, but I can totally respect it as a harm reduction measure.
this screenshot is going on my main
We get to telling her a bit about Earth. The protagonist tries to, well...
That’s a way to put it lol.
How romantic!
Damn, this episode’s a bit real lol
As a final kicker we learn that what she’s been drinking out of her mug is... just water. She’s putting on an act to give people a reason why she seems so depressed and tired all the time.
And with that, she takes a nap, and we get another friend.
D’aww.
Unfortunately, we lucked onto the best outcome on our first playthrough, so that means it’s all downhill from here. Which is a shame because I care about this troll.
First, for our instant death option, let’s stand around paralysed by the image of a gavel instead of helping with her papers. So rather than the bait-and-switch I was expecting, this plays out in the way most people would expect: she tells you to stop trying to ‘help’.
I thought it was a picture of a gavel, not an actual gavel! But OK. [treacheryofimages.jpg]
Now let’s try the other option: helping her organise her papers someplace else instead of trying to give her a break.
Unfortunately, in the process of sorting her papers, we lose one. I’m sure that’s not a Chekhov’s gun or anything.
This is a Very Good typing quirk.
The bookhive (library) turns out to have, what else, hexagonal shelves.
That’s cute but damn, not gonna be efficient...
This narration turns out to be read out loud. ‘wwwwowwww, harsh’ says Tyzias, but says that’s basically true. (I would motion that nearly every caste in Homestuck, at least going by the characters we meet, is a nerd caste...)
Tyzias mentions a few. Interestingly she says ‘goldbloods’ rather than ‘yellowbloods’.
We learn a bit about her legislacerator training project.
The narrator doesn’t want to hear this, but I’m kind of amused by the ideas of ‘scrolls of evisceration’. On Alternia, they know all to well that the ‘law’ is just a way of describing the ostensible legitimising limits to violence.
Tyzias mentions the difficulty of finding scrolls that haven’t ‘been scrubbed nice and fuchsia’. Which suggests that the Condesce, or another fuchsia-blood has been fiddling with the law?
The narration draws attention to some of the recurring tropes. But to be fair, we’ve only actually had to fight a highblood one time.
But no, it’s time for more interactions between our friends! Hooray!
Are we still wearing his bathrobe?
The guy seems to know a bit about what Tyzias is up to. Uh-oh.
I’m so glad our friends get along so well!
Anyway after Tagora pisses off, we get back to working. And that’s when the missing page comes up.
Figures. We’re in the shit.
Inexplicable product placement. This, of course, leads to a pun: ‘goregle docs’. But of course, that is monitored by the Condesce.
It’s actually quit easy to get onto at least some parts of the darkweb. There’s pages on the normal web which list the .onion addresses of various TOR hidden services. It’s pretty fascinating to have a look around at what’s up for sale for the kind of nerd who actually owns a bitcoin wallet.
Anyway, losing the page scuppers our friendship. She goes to retrace her steps - without us.
Anyway that was neat. Total shock: Bryn finds the exhausted, depressed nerd with radical politics relatable?
Chixie
Chixie’s route is by the ever-prolific Aysha U. Farah.
So what’s the premise for Chixie? Well, it seems to be fashion.
I guess we are still in a bathrobe after all. Also... I would quite like to see the protagonist in one of Elwurd’s jackets. They’d look ridiculous, but it would be cute.
Anyway, we could always go back to our highly fashionable friend Cirava, but I guess our protagonist has other plans.
We seem to have found the ‘Alternian nightlife’. The protagonist briefly speculates whether it should be ‘daylife’ instead, but seemingly not. We pop round the back of a club, which merits a different take on the whole ‘back alley and dumpster’ setting!
Chixie shows up, standing outside a door. The protagonist contemplates a disguise, and we get a joke about cosplayers...
It seems like she’s maybe trying to convince the people behind the door she’s propped open to let her perform. We have the choice of grabbing the door or standing there like an asshole. Let’s grab the door, since that seems like the obvious option. Of course, you never know with this game if the ‘obvious’ choice will cause you to fuck up and accidentally murder someone.
We are still wearing Tagora’s bathrobe. Haha.
So we let her in, and she says thank you... and goes inside, locking us out. Welp. Guess this was the instant death option lol.
So now let’s try the ‘stand there like an asshole’ option.
Her typing quirk is all-lower-case, and separating lines with slashes, much as you’d represent lines of a song. The narration describes her voice as musical.
It seems she is, in fact, a performer of some renown. She presumes we know who she is.
While we might be experts in moisturewave, whatever her genre is... not so much.
Speaking of moisturewave, Cirava gets a shout-out.
She uses ‘they’ pronouns for the protagonist, which is nice. Anyway, she takes us to visit her dressing room, and orders us to put on some actual clothes while she deals with harassment from someone who threw all her stuff out of the dressing room. Well, the ablutionrobe was nice while it lasted.
We end up wearing a dress.
This might be a kind of ‘fuck you’ to the earlier narration which seemed to implicitly mark the protagonist as male. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking. Anyway I’m all in favour of wearing a dress for the rest of friendsim.
So does the protag! Nice :)
Anyway, we learn what’s up with Chixie. She’s been kicked off the programme because a band with a purpleblood drummer showed up at the last minute. Well, that’s bad enough, but oh god guess who shows up next...
I literally shuddered.
Please can this be the arc where we absolutely beat the shit out of Zebruh? Please Aysha, I’m begging you.
The narrator determines that Zebruh is ‘not the kind of friend they want to hang out with’. Which is putting it mildly.
Zebruh, incidentally, has not changed one bit.
We get to our second choice.
Honestly anyone’s guess which arc is gonna be the positive ending here. But let’s try exploiting our connections, as utterly odious as they may be.
That was absolutely a mistake, lol.
He goes off to go and put her back on the programme. She’s like... for fuck’s sake, protagonist.
Anyway, what Zebruh does in response to our mentioning her missed performance is... literally buy the club out from under the owner, who’s ‘just’ a teal, and makes Chixie the headliner.
Of course, this is obviously him just trying to get sexual favours of some kind from someone who can’t say no. Like so obvious it probably doesn’t even need to be said.
There we go. Can we please put this fucker through the mirror or something.
Chixie knows exactly what this is and she’s understandably not pleased. We’re gone.
Yeah that’s like... pretty fucking deserved.
Now let’s try the route where we like... don’t do that horrific shit we just did. Hey, finishing on a happy ending... hopefully.
Please leave, Zebruh.
She seems to like... actually like us, which we haven’t really done anything to merit, but here we go. She even invites us to follow her chittr.
She admits we doesn’t know we aren’t creepy, and we assure her we’re less creepy than Zebruh, which like... low fucking bar!
Anyway, the band that scooped her comes on stage. The narrator muses on whether trolls are forced to dress in their blood colour by law or tradition.
Wow, that is cruel.
She sings along...
Apparently like... all troll lyrics are black metal lyrics?
We get a second branch! How extravagant.
So, because I’m curious, let’s try ‘you should do something!’ I see this going badly, but let’s give it a shot.
She goes and puts on a phantom of the opera mask, and grabs a mic - which I guess is wired in and has its levels turned up? I don’t know...
That is a raw look though.
Time to interrupt their set. I am hype to see this, even though we’ll probably end up getting culled.
And she starts a friggin... rap battle?
It’s a rap battle that’s also a limerick! Yeah. That’s something.
Anyway, Chixie does... very well at the whole rap battle thing. (Only the first five lines are a limerick). Makes me wish there was voice acting, if only for this bit!
I strongly suspect this is mostly a parody of like, existing rap songs, which I’m too culturally ignorant to see. All the same, the scene is well written and satisfying.
We escape outside, and Chixie freaks out a bit. And then gets simultaneously relieved and disappointed that she can’t be identified because of the mask. But, since she hasn’t changed clothes, someone catches her... and praises her performance.
Ooh, diamonds huh?
So that was in fact the good outcome. Which means after that epic rap battle, we now have to see the branch where we go to a bar and get miserable. Yep.
Of course, on Alternia, we don’t have alcohol... but Faygo.
And it actually makes her drunk!
She speaks on matters of fame...
And of course, this is mediated by blood colour. Lowbloods must be hypervigilant, while highbloods will get praise regardless.
Again, the metaphor layer is paper thin here.
Come to think of it, nobody does seem to have a job in Alternia. It’s like... fully automated luxury imperialism.
Anyway Chixie passes out on the pile of clothes and we get a... well actually it’s given a ‘victory...?’ label, but it’s clearly less victory than the awesome rap battle.
So yeah. That’s an outcome.
And there we go! That’s the end of the episode. I have a... perhaps unfair feeling that like... if Hussie was writing, this wouldn’t be nearly so on the nose about like, oppression. But who knows.
Fun episode I think. This game’s grown on me a lot now we’ve gotten used to the format. Or is it just that if you spend enough time with a massive sprawling multimedia webcomic, you get a little obsessed with it, even if it’s not actually... good?

Massive Crash Course Into Astrology (Super Long Post)
Polarities?? You mean those things magnets have?
Okay so in astrology you have two polarities. These are masculine (extroverted, direct, and energetic) and feminine (introverted, receptive, and magnetic).
Four Elements, it’s just like Avatar guys.
The four elements are, Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Fire and Air are opposite and masculine elements while Earth and Water are opposite and feminine elements.
Fire is will and passion.
Earth is physical and stable.
Air is logical and social.
Water is emotion and intuition.
If Fire had a consciousness it would see the world as fuel and not fuel. In the same way, I think the fire signs Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius, see the world as their very own playground and they look for what stimulates them the most. They all have an insatiable appetite for life that’s in constant need to be satisfied, be it discovery, expression, or transcendence.
If Earth had a consciousness it would see the world as what it truly is and what they can bring to it. I see the earth signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn as always giving a part of themselves to provide stability to the world, be it wealth, perfection, or professionalism
If Air had a consciousness it would see the world as a barren place devoid of interaction and detachment. I believe the air signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are always on the prowl for fulfillment. They strive for something that will stimulate them, be it knowledge, collaboration, or progression.
If Water had a consciousness it would try to envelop the world and everything in it. The water signs Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are always trying to lose themselves in someway, always looking for something to immerse themselves in, be it home, transformation, or the subconscious.
Modalities? That seems like a made-up word. Fake News
So you know the elements, you know their polarity, so what else can there be? Modalities, my friends, are essentially the quality of the element. All elements come in three types:
Cardinal- The element in its purest form. These are the self starters, leaders, and initiators (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn)
Fixed- The element at its most condensed and stable form. They are stubborn, unyielding, and basically the ones that finish what the Cardinal starts. (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius)
Mutable- The element at its most fluid and free. They are adaptable, flexible, and versatile. (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces)
Now that we know how the signs are all divided, we can classify them!! :D ARIES Masculine/Fire/Cardinal TAURUS Feminine/Earth/Fixed GEMINI Masculine/Air/Mutable CANCER Feminine/Water/Cardinal LEO Masculine/Fire/Fixed VIRGO Feminine/Earth/Mutable LIBRA Masculine/Air/Cardinal SCORPIO Feminine/Water/Fixed SAGITTARIUS Masculine/Fire/Mutable CAPRICORN Feminine/Earth/Cardinal AQUARIUS Masculine/Air/Fixed PISCES Feminine/Water/Mutable
So you’re saying there’s an entire solar system that explains why I have such a shitty unique personality?
Yes, yes there is. You can use a variety of sites to find your natal chart but for just starting off I prefer to use https://alabe.com/freechart/ . It’s really user friendly and gives you a brief description of each placement, though it doesn’t show retrogrades. (FYI you need your birthday and time, along with the location of your birth) But we’re keeping this basic here, anyway, upon entering your info you’ll notice that each planet in our solar system has a sign and its degree assigned to it. Take this for example, my mom’s chart, or a glimpse of it.
So if you’re new to astrology and you’re confused on what planets mean what, this is your section.
Luminaries vs Planets
The Sun and Moon are luminaries, the brightest and most important objects in the sky. The Planets are planets (lol duh) The North Node is a mathematical point relating the Sun, Earth, and Moon at the specific time
Now that that’s cleared up continue reading for an interpretation of each heavenly body and what they mean when it comes to you
SUN- Ego, the divine representation of life, the head honcho of the chart, the “adult” that censors the “inner child”, you at you’re most basic level, our vitality, it is reason as opposed to instinct, can also represent the father
MOON- Unconscious, while the Sun acts the Moon reacts, our deepest personal needs, the inner child and inner mother, how we nurture and how we like to be nurtured, your immediate instincts, can also represent the mother (it is common for people to relate more to the Moon more seeing as it’s our deepest and purest self)
MERCURY- planet of communication, thought processes, ideas, how we analyze a situation, the logical mind and mental faculties
VENUS- planet of love, grace, charm, and beauty. Our artistic inclinations, Venusian energy is harmonious in nature. What we look for in love, what type of relationships we like and which ones are good for us, how we love, how we act with friends, it also represents both love and money
MARS- the planet of energy, action, and desire. You at your most primal, what you’re like when someone eats the last toaster strudel, your assertive and dominant self, this planet is all about action, your drive and work ethic, what you’re like in bed
JUPITER- the planet of expansion. Closely associated with good luck. Your spiritual and mental growth, what you overindulge in, optimism, mercy, and humor
SATURN- the planet of limits and restrictions. Where Jupiter expands, Saturn constricts. what values and disciplines were you raised with, what are your boundaries and responsibilities. Associated with delayed satisfaction and personal tests also the father or dominant parental figure.
URANUS- the planet of revolution and innovation. The higher octave of Mercury, progression, enlightenment, rebellion, and individuality are central themes of this planet.
NEPTUNE- the planet of dreams, confusion, self deception, psychic receptivity, and spirituality. The higher octave of Venus. Sensitivity, disillusionment, and compassion are central themes of this planet.
PLUTO- the planet of death, rebirth, our “dark side”, and transformation. The higher octave of Mars. Self destruction, power struggles, paranoia, trauma, inner demons, and upheaval or major themes of this planet (it’s still a planet don’t @ me)
So who rules what, again?
Each sign has planet or luminary that is considered its ruler. The rulers of these signs give further insight to the complex personality archetypes. You’ll notice that some planets have two rulers, we call those corulers and since the planet is always coruled by a feminine and masculine sign they represent different expressions of that planet. Feminine “Night”= inward Masculine “Day” = outward When a planet is in the sign that rules it, the planet is in its “home” or domicile where the values of this planet are easily and clearly expressed, however, if a planet falls into its ruler’s opposite sign these values aren’t easily expressed and is considered an uncomfortable position for the planet to be in, therefore, the planet becomes debilitated and very weak, this is the planet in detriment. (PSA NO PLACEMENT IS A “BAD PLACEMENT”. THERE ARE NO GOOD OR BAD PLACEMENTS IN ASTROLOGY, IT JUST IS WHAT IT IS) Here are the rulers (Domicile // Detriment) SUN Leo // Aquarius
MOON Cancer // Capricorn
MERCURY Gemini (day) & Virgo (night) // Sagittarius & Pisces
VENUS Taurus (night) & Libra (day) // Aries & Scorpio
MARS Aries (day) & Scorpio (night) // Libra & Taurus
JUPITER Sagittarius (day) & Pisces (night) // Gemini & Virgo
SATURN Capricorn // Cancer
URANUS Aquarius // Leo
NEPTUNE Pisces // Virgo
PLUTO Scorpio // Taurus
Planets also have two other dignities, exaltation and fall. While a planet in its domicile is at home, a planet in its exaltation is, to me, in a palace. While the energies of the domicile planet are clearly expressed, the exaltation refines the overall qualities of the planet and expresses that energy at its best and most efficient. A planet’s fall however, is very different, here the overall nature of the planet is muted and overwhelmed by the sign whose core traits oppose that planet’s nature. I picture this as someone who lied about their skills on their resume, and, because of this, their manager throws them immediately into the midst of a rather complicated project. The person clearly doesn’t have the skills to accurately perform the job and thus struggle is born. Keep in mind that while detriment and fall may not be the best places for a planet to be in, these placements can show the hidden parts of a planet that’s not typically expressed, and, in a developed placement, add more depth to it. These additional dignities add even more insight to the signs. Here are the additional dignities (Exaltation // Fall) SUN Aries // Libra
MOON Taurus // Scorpio
MERCURY Virgo // Pisces (though there is much debate with this but I believe that Mercury’s exaltation is Virgo mostly because Cherry from astrolocherry says so and she’s the tumblr goddess of Astrology)
VENUS Pisces // Virgo MARS Capricorn // Cancer
JUPITER Cancer // Capricorn
SATURN Libra // Aries
URANUS Scorpio // Taurus
NEPTUNE Leo // Aquarius
PLUTO Heavily debated among astrologers so almost all info is conflicting
Planets that fall into signs that are not in their domicile, detriment, fall, or exaltation (ie Scorpio Mercury, Pisces Mars, Aries moon, etc) are said to be in peregrine. I see this as being fairly neutral, showcasing different aspects of the planet, but some astrologers consider this a small form of debilitation.
Think of the signs as 12 roommates who are all pretty basic and cliché
With all the basic info we now know of the signs we can go into depth about the qualities of each archetype. We will be more able to fully understand the internal workings of each sign and why they act the way they do.
ARIES Aries is a fire sign, and with this element, their energy is extroverted and direct. Fire is the element of passion and will, the modality of this sign is cardinal so they have innate leadership and initiating qualities. Aries is cardinal in the way that their independent nature and high level of energy can be a catalyst that drives and motivates all those around them, along with their being the first sign of the zodiac. Being the day ruler of Mars combined with its element and modality, Aries is impulsive, aggressive, head strong, and passionate. The Sun exalts in Aries, so the fire seen around them is a true reflection the one that burns within. They are direct and honest. However, Venus is in detriment when ruled by Aries, showing that their aggression and passion can get in their own way when trying to establish a partnership with another person. Fiercely independent, Arians love the chase of love but the actual substance can be seen as unfavorable being that this sign does not want to be tied down. Saturn is at its fall in Aries as well, demonstrating their foolhardy approach at life, often burning bridges, and acting too impulsively without pondering the consequences of their actions.
TAURUS Taurus is an earth sign, and with this element, their energy is introverted and receptive. Earth is the element of the physical, material, and stable, and the modality of this sign is fixed so they have strong wills, determination, and unchanging qualities. Taurus is fixed due to its incredibly slow momentum, Taurus doesn’t charge ahead and take initiative like Aries, but rather slows down to enjoy the finer details. Being the ruler of the night expression of Venus combined with its element and modality, Taurus is materialistic, sensual, stubborn, and loyal. The Moon exalts in Taurus, so we can see person who is a firm lover of the comforts of life and whose emotional nature remains constant. This person is warm and down to earth. However, Mars is in detriment when ruled by Taurus, their slow and patient nature is at odds with this aggressive, expressive, and vibrant planet. Taureans, and the other earth signs, have the tendency to rationalize and suppress their emotions however this trait is exacerbated with this placement, they will suppress their internal aggression until it explodes in a fantastic way. These traits are then coupled by Taurus being Pluto’s, the higher octave of Mars, detriment. Pluto is the planet of upheaval and transformation while Taurus is the sign of stability and internal security. In my opinion, Taurus, being an earth sign, is the most fixed of all the other fixed signs, so they and the themes of transformation do no mix well. Uranus is at its fall in Taurus demonstrating this sign’s tendency to prefer to maintain the status quo than to delve deeper into the more taboo and immaterial concepts.
GEMINI Gemini is an air sign, and with this element, their energy is extroverted and direct. Air is the element of logic and communication, the modality of this sign is mutable so they have adaptive and versatile qualities. Gemini’s mutability comes from the nature of communication itself. A conversation needs two parts, with each side bringing new information and knowledge to the table, the mind of Gemini works in the very same way. Communication is always changing and knowledge is always in fluctuation due to new levels of understanding, so the sign of communication should have adaptive traits for acclimating themselves to the steady flow of new knowledge and the multifaceted nature to deal with the duality, even plurality, of communication. Being the day ruler of Mercury, Gemini is all about opinions, communication, and logic, they constantly oscillate from a euphoric high to melancholic lows, however each mood never lasts long. Gemini has high levels of mercunian (it’s actually a world lol) energy that gives them the attention span of an eternal child. They have a habit of quickly jumping from topic to topic, minute detail to detail, all in one breath. Their attention to detail is so strong that they even have the tendency to unconsciously mimic those they come into contact with, another trait of their mutability. Jupiter is in detriment when ruled by Gemini, showing their inability to grasp the bigger picture at times. Gemini is too concerned with the individual strokes of a paint brush than to step back and take a look at the beautiful masterpiece. The complexities of religion and philosophy are difficult for Gemini to understand for they live in the world of logic and the tangible.
CANCER Cancer is a water sign, and with this element, their energy is introverted and receptive. Water is the element of emotion and intuition, the modality of this sign is cardinal so they have innate leadership and initiating qualities. Cancer is cardinal because they take their emotions into account first and foremost, and with being this emotionally free they take into account the needs of others and nurture them. Being the true ruler of the Moon, Cancer is nurturing and empathetic. Their strong compassion and sensitivity is naturally maternal. Cancer is the ultimate mother in my eyes, warm and soft in nature but mess with her babies you get her unbreakable shell and piercing pincers. They are also the expression of the inner child, given that what Cancer seeks most is a comfortable place to call home. I always think of Cancer as the child that clings to their mother before leaving her side for the first day of school, in much the same way they cling to those they love with an almost suffocating embrace of need and devotion. Exaggeration and overabundance are also the traits that are held by the planet that Cancer exalts, Jupiter. Their emotional nature is just as exaggerated and overemphasized as Jupiter, Cancer is a benefactor that gives and gives and rains the gifts of family, compassion, and deep commitment. Saturn is in detriment with this sign showcasing Cancer’s unfortunate tendency to display and act with only their emotions as their guide and justification. They lack the ability to put their emotions to the side to do what is needed and logical because they feel everything so deeply. This also shows their inability to function when the going gets hard for them, their inability to process hardships without resorting to the whole “woe is me” rhetoric in their underdeveloped state. Mars in Cancer is at its fall, their ability to be assertive is completely hindered by their emotional reactivity causing massive and unpredictable explosions and lashing outs. Cancer, even as a water sign, loses its manipulative edge in this planet due to its extreme moodiness and overall temporary passive aggressiveness that will quickly turn into explosive outbursts, however they remain fiercely loyal to loved ones and will fight to the death for them.
LEO Leo is a fire sign, and with this element, their energy is extroverted and direct. Fire is the element of passion and will, the modality of this sign is fixed so they have strong wills, determination. and unchanging qualities. Leo is fixed in their own pride, their ego simply refuses to allow them to compromise. Being the sol (I made a pun lmao) ruler of the Sun, Leo exudes warmth and passion. They are filled with light and much like how the Sun remains in center of our solar system, Leo desires to remain in the center of their personal world. Neptune is exalted in Leo, so they are among the most creative and artistic of the signs, looking at this rulership compared with their relation to the Sun, demonstrates their need to showcase their talents and creativity to the world, they are true performers. Neptune also shows the capacity for compassion, generosity, and kindness that this sign can demonstrate when developed. Uranus is in detriment in Leo, the self centered approach to life is at complete odds with Uranus’ energy being the focus on groups and coalitions. Their compassion and generosity can be completely overwhelmed by their need to be praised and in the spot light. Saturn is also in detriment with this sign, I interpret this as a trapped ego, Leo’s energy comes from the heart (they rule the heart) and when its in such a rigid and cold planet, this energy can become disillusioned and suppressed. Thus creating a disconnect, their ego is fortified and structured, but their expression of the warmer qualities of this sign are nullified; making them come off as standoffish, aloof, and arrogant.
VIRGO Virgo is an earth sign, and with this element, their energy is introverted and receptive. Earth is the element of the physical, material, and stable, the modality of this sign is mutable so they have adaptive and versatile qualities. Virgo is mutable in regards to their adaptive nature, always seeking to perfect themselves, they take on the traits that will help them reach their goals. Being the sign that both rules Mercury and is its exaltation, Virgo is obsessed with the minute details of all that fall under their critical eye. They are the night expression of Mercury, so while they are not as communicative and inquisitive as Gemini, they are hardworking, since Mercury rules day to day routines, and seek perfection and efficiency in everything they do. Highly intelligent and analytical Virgos have the confidence that their way is the best way. Jupiter and Neptune are in detriment when ruled by Virgo, this shows their inabilities to think in the abstract. With Jupiter, Virgo lacks the ability to think outside the box, and are limited to their very own sense of routine. They refuse to experience the variety and unpredictability of life. With Neptune, Virgo’s need to think rationally and objectively leave them at a lost when it comes to the more lateral and emotional side of communication, leaving them to be very oblivious to the emotional impact their words have on others. Venus is fallen with Virgo as its ruler, this is where the maiden and the sign of service archetypes come in, Virgo often rejects the dreaminess and romanticism of love and instead show the depth of their affection through service. To them, the truest form of love is not through pretty words but what you do for them, solely for their comfort. Their rejection of Venus’ sensuality is why they are often painted as the maiden, the purity of their love is entirely giving, making them much like their sister sign, Pisces, in regards to losing themselves for the ones they love and adore.
LIBRA Libra is an air sign, and with this element, their energy is extroverted and direct. Air is the element of logic and communication, the modality of this sign is cardinal so they have innate leadership and initiating qualities. Libra is cardinal in the sense that they actively seek out partnerships and collaborations with other people, they actively communicate between varying groups of people often in need to find balance between one another. Being the day ruler of Venus, Libra oozes charm and grace. Their social aptitude is unparalleled by others. This Venusian influence also shows in Libra’s continuing search for partnership and love. They love the security relationships brings and their partner often brings balance to their zany life. Saturn is exalted in Libra showing their strong talents at compromise and finding the middleman, they are always harmonious and so well understanding of the need for justice and fairness that they often give more than they take, thus becoming the biggest hypocrite of the zodiac by not being fair to themselves. Mars is in detriment due to Libra’s strong preferences towards peace rather than aggression and domination. Mars’ violent nature is forever at odds with their need for harmony and understanding. The sun is at its fall in Libra as well emphasizing their overly compromising nature. How can the ego be recognized and praised when it spends so much time changing itself to fit the narratives of other people’s lives?
SCORPIO Scorpio is a water sign, and with this element, their energy is introverted and receptive. Water is the element of emotion and intuition, the modality of this sign is fixed so they have strong wills, determination, and unchanging qualities. Scorpio is fixed in regards to their own emotions. They feel deeply and intensely for everything and because of the extreme depth of their emotion they become unmovable and fixated. Most people assume Scorpio isn’t as emotional as their watery cousins, Cancer and Pisces, because of the plutonian and martian influence that clouds their ability to express themselves, but out of the zodiac, I see Scorpio as being the most emotional. Imagine the strength and depth of feeling it would take to become so fixed based off of something as fluid and changing as emotion. Being the night ruler of Mars, the battles waged by this planet are fought inwards. Scorpio is always in a state of battle internally, they fight their personal demons along with the dark skeletons of their past selves. The martian influence of this water sign makes them guarded and closed off from others, crouching and waiting for the battle felt inwards to be seen on the outside. Mars loses its impulsiveness and excess energy in this sign and is instead traded in for cunning and manipulation, the scorpion is a retaliatory creature and only seeks vengeance when attacked. Pluto adds into this sign the themes of death and transformation, which are Scorpio’s key words. Emotionally sensitive to others, the sting of Scorpio is their deadly intuition and empathy which they use to hit where it hurts the most. Venus is detriment in this sign, the plutonian influence adds paranoia and the need for control while Mars adds in haughtiness and aggression. The love of Scorpio is filled with paranoia due to their fear of being vulnerable and hurt, they desire all of you while giving you very little of themselves, you are theirs while they refuse to call themselves yours. The Moon is fallen in Scorpio due to their intense nature and emotional isolation, instead of expressing their feelings, a lunar Scorpio will suppress them until a massive explosion, a lot like a Cancer Mars but more destructive. The overall nurturing nature of this luminary is drowned out by the war cry of Mars and Pluto’s vindictive streak.
SAGITTARIUS Sagittarius is a fire sign, and with this element, their energy is extroverted and direct. Fire is the element of passion and will, the modality of this sign is mutable so they have adaptive and versatile qualities. Sagittarius is mutable in regards to their need for a constant change in scenery, mindsets, and philosophy. Being the day ruler of Jupiter, Sagittarians are naturally gregarious and wise. They like to expand their horizons, always on the prowl for something new, and always on the search for enlightenment. They seek the truth first and foremost and have no qualms with expressing it to all those with a lent ear. Sagittarius represents higher thought and religion, they often feel that their opinions are divine and prophetic in nature, Jupiter also expands upon their fiery and energetic nature. They like the experience of life but not necessarily the prices that come with it. They despise being owned and controlled and desire to live life only on their terms. Mercury is in detriment with Sagittarius showcasing the whole cliche of having ones’s head “stuck in the clouds”. They are too busy considering the grandiose that they often forget that it is the combination of the smaller details that form the bigger picture. Their own innate sense of morality and their complete disregard for social niceties such as “white lies”, often being frank and direct, is in complete opposition to the typical conversation held by people. They think too deeply for the small details Mercury rules over.
CAPRICORN Capricorn is an earth sign, and with this element, their energy is introverted and receptive. Earth is the element of the physical, material and stable, and the modality of this sign is cardinal so they have innate leadership and initiating qualities. Capricorn’s cardinality comes from the being the personification of ambition itself. Being the night ruler of Saturn, Capricorn’s internal strength and regulation is beyond compare. Their ambition, work ethic, and drive are damn near the strongest indicators of success. They are powerful and obsessed with how their image is projected to others. They seek to project the image of success and legacy and if given the option to be the people pleaser as well, they would choose it to add to their numerous titles, but it is still of little importance to them. Mars is exalted in Capricorn showing their ability to separate emotion and passion from logic and gain and from there being able to channel the former into their unending reserve of energy to achieve their goals. Wise and practical, it takes a lot to throw them off their mechanical and methodical rise in power. However, just because Capricorn is quite adept at channeling their emotions towards professional success doesn’t mean they lack in other areas. The Moon is in detriment with this sign. Capricorn’s cold nature is completely out of place in the Moon’s warm, comfortable, and fluid domain. Emotions are always in a state of suppression and they try to use logic to dilute and deal with their emotions. High expectations of them may have caused them to blot out this crucial part of their personality. This can also be seen in Capricorn’s standard association with them being unconcerned with the feelings of others as they step on them to climb the ladder of success. Jupiter is fallen with this sign as well showing their deep cynicism regarding luck and gifts, they believe hard work is the only way to succeed and that nothing in life is free. Extremely traditional, they have a strong distrust for the new innovation of life preferring the tried and true methods.
AQUARIUS Aquarius is an air sign, and with this element, their energy is extroverted and direct . Air is the element of logic and communication, the modality of this sign is fixed so they have strong wills, determination, and unchanging qualities. Aquarians are fixed in their own intellect and refuse to compromise themselves and what they believe in. Being the ruler of Uranus, the ideas and intellect of Aquarius transcends the self and affects the world and everyone around them, Their intuition is strong and their love for progress and equality, unmatched. They idealize themselves and see their way as the best way. Often rebelling and causing instability so a newer and better stability can take form, thus showing their corulership with Saturn. One must acknowledge the old and traditional to improve upon it and expand for the future. We can’t learn if we have nothing to learn from. Aquarius understands the need for rules and structure, but also understands that a rule needs to be broken or changed when it no longer applies, they are the humanitarians of the signs and advocate for all. The Sun is in detriment in Aquarius giving us insight as to why they are so rebellious, the fragility of their ego is in desperate need for recognition. They make up for their lack of self identity by, taking a page out of Leo’s book, creating a larger than life persona that is unique and unlike everybody else in every way. Their disgust for conformity can be seen in Neptune’s fall. Neptune is the planet of the collective consciousness and they see themselves as too unique and revolutionary to be grouped with the not-so-innovative minds of others. They often form their larger than life plans without taking into account the needs and feelings of others, their independent nature and refusal to submit to others ironically manifests itself in the need for others to submit to them. Their empathy only takes them so far before they ditch the rest of us and head for the stars.
PISCES Pisces is a water sign, and with this element, their energy is introverted and receptive. Water is the element of emotion and intuition, the modality of this sign is mutable so they have adaptive and versatile qualities. Pisces is mutable in regards to their own fluidity, water is naturally a liquid element so in mutable Pisces, their receptivity is unmatched. Like actual water they flow and take the shape of any environment they’re in. Being the ruler of Neptune, Pisces represents universal empathy and compassion. As a water sign, Pisces operates through the medium of emotions, they are essentially sponges to the emotions of others. Extremely sensitive and kind, Pisceans are prone to being self deceptive and elusive, another embodiment of Neptune. Neptune represents dreams, the imagination, and spirituality which is why Pisces, to me, is the most psychic of the signs. Pisces is the sign of self undoing and destruction, their receptivity combined with their nature to lose themselves to the emotions of others are the main causes of this, they are essentially lil cinnamon rolls that must be protected at all costs. They are also the night expression of Jupiter showing they all have a strong desire and capability to transcend the spiritual barriers of man. Jupiter’s expanding energy being channeled so inwardly amplifies the qualities of Neptune which leads to them having an incredible mind and fertile imagination, often day dreaming and retreating from the real world. They need their isolation because their incredibly receptive nature often subjects them to the whims of others leaving them unable to explore and live for themselves. Venus exalts in Pisces, showcasing their sacrificial nature and overall dreaminess and idealizations of love and romance. Their kindness and giving is often taken advantage of because their ego is so impressionable they often question their self value. Mercury at its detriment and fall with this sign, showing that their expansive inner mind can become a prison preventing them from assertively expressing themselves and their ideas. They can be easily ran over because of their demure nature and inability to stand up for themselves using logic and direct communication. However they make up for this in their extreme capabilities when it comes to manipulation, their soft spoken nature often makes them appear to be the victim even when they’re at fault.
Degrees Lives Matter!!
The main type of astrology practiced on tumblr is Tropical. In this type of astrology, the signs are oriented around the seasons, with the 1st degree of Aries being the Spring Equinox. The signs are then allotted 30 degrees which is basically 30 days for the sun to traverse through (360/30 = 12). As shown in the screen shot above, each planet and luminary gets a 30 degree association as well. Degrees are important because they show how the energy of the sign and planet are expressed. They also show how the planet will interact with the other heavenly bodies in your chart which we will cover in the next section. This section we will mostly discuss decans.
Decans are basically the breaking down and separation of a sign’s 30 degree segment into 10 degrees where the energies become altered by the other influences of this sign’s triplicity. That sounds pretty confusing, but it’s fairly straight forward. I’ll break down the key terms here:
Decans- Divide 30 by 3 and you get 10. Each 10 degree segment within these 30 degrees are a decan. 0-9, first decan, 10-19 second decan, and 20-29 third decan. Influences- Mainly the sign and the planet that it rules. Triplicity- Think 3, there are 3 signs per element. So basically the signs that have the same element as each other.
Here are all the decans ARIES First Decan (0 to 9 degrees) Purest, Ruled by Mars & Aries Second Decan (10 to 19 degrees) Ruled by Sun & Leo Third Decan (20 to 29 degrees) Ruled by Jupiter & Sagittarius

I’ll go more into depth about these influences in future posts, and decans apply to every planet, not just your sun sign :) So go ahead and have fun y’all.
Critical Degrees vs Anaretic
Anaretic degrees are 0 and 29 for all signs, having a planet in one of these degrees means that decision making is a real problem for this facet of your personality. You could either overanalyze your choices to the point of a stalemate or rush right into making a critical choice, this can even happen after overanalyzing.
Critical degrees are different they represent the sensitive and the strengthening points of said planet and said sign. This planet and its energies tend to be emphasized in one’s life, the degrees vary between the modality of the sign but here ya go Cardinal (0, 13, 26) Fixed (8, 9, 21, 22) *Ya boy got his sun at 21 degrees Scorpio😆 Mutable (4 and 17)
Your Natal Chart is basically a community bbq where the planets can interact with each other
The degrees of your planets are important because they can show how these plants interact with one another, in this section I’ll list the requirements and definitions of the 5 basic astrological aspects
CONJUNCTION (0°) Same Polarity/Same Element/Same Modality In order to have a conjunction the planets or points must be within 10 degrees of each other. With a conjunction the energies of both planets become united and act as one. This is a fairly neutral aspect seeing as conjunctions between Jupiter and Venus can be positive while Saturn and Mars conjunctions can be more malefic. Energies between the planets are intensified and are always in unity which can create a blind spot seeing as it is extremely difficult for people to separate the planet’s distinct energies from one another. The closer the orb, the distance from one another, the more powerful the aspect. Sun/Mercury conjunctions are fairly common seeing as Mercury can never stray too far from the sun. My Moon (28° Capricorn) conjuncts Neptune (1° Aquarius) with an orb of 3. Both my emotional sensitivity and vulnerabilities to others are emphasized through my heightened and sympathetic empathy. SEXTILE (60°) Same Polarity/Different Element/Different Modality In order to have a sextile the two planets or points must be within 10 degrees of each other. Sextiles are a harmonious aspect and are a lot like trines, except the trine is so ingrained within the native’s psyche that it can be unconscious and dormant, while the Sextile is more present and has to be called upon for the native to use. The harmonious nature between these planet can be used consciously. My Moon (28° Capricorn) and Mercury (25° Scorpio) are sextile with an orb of 3° Diplomacy and persuasion come easy to me as my logical and communicative mind have an insatiable curiosity and with the Moon’s strong sensitivity to the feelings of others, this allows me to aptly pick up on these cues to change my approach in regards to persuading them.
SQUARE (90°) Different Polarity/Different Element/Same Modality In order to have a square the two planets or points must be within 10 degrees of each other. Squares are a symbol of tension between these two planets, compromise and understanding are necessary to overcome these obstacles. Tension arise as a sort of conflict of interests between these bodies. My Sun (21° Scorpio) squares the Ascendant (24° Leo) with an orb of 3° . I have the tendency to project myself as something I’m not, the amount of arrogance and standoffish I project to others is at conflict with my true private and emotional nature often leaving bad impressions when first meeting new people.
TRINE (120°) Same Polarity/Same Element/Different Modality In order to have a trine the two planets or points must be within 10 degrees of each other. Trines are highly harmonious and positive, the talents that come from this aspect are so natural that they are almost unconscious. My Moon (28° Capricorn) trines my Venus (5° Libra) with an orb of 7°. My kind, warm, and receptive nature has a habit of making many people feel comfortable and open up to me, regardless to whether that was my intention or not.
OPPOSITION (180°) Same Polarity/Different Element/Same Modality In order to have an opposition the two planets or points must be within 10 degrees of each other. Opposition are hard and difficult to live and function with, but they are not impossible to overcome. At times the native may feel as if they’re being pulled into two opposite direction often leaving them insecure and confused. Due to their lack of internal structure they seek for what they lack in relationships with others. My Sun (21° Scorpio) is in opposition with Saturn (13° Taurus) with an orb of -8°. I face difficulties with expressing and asserting myself. I often oscillate between an overaggressive and dominant extreme to an intense surrender of passivity. I must compromise between these two volatile expressions and meet in the middle.
You know how before I said the signs were roommates? Actually let’s pretend they live in a neighborhood where each one has their own house
Okay, so you guys know that weird circle thing that’s at the top of your screen whenever you put your birth chart info into a website? It has all the symbols of the signs going in a circle, and it looks like a pi chart with the occasional weird ass little glyphs splattered across the pie chart’s divisions? It often has multicolored and confusing lines connecting these glyphs together? That is your actual natal chart, and those little divisions are your houses. Y’all can take a look at mine for example.
(The website I used for this was Astrodienst and this link should take you to the chart generator I used https://www.astro.com/cgi/genchart.cgi?lang=e;nhor=1;cid=sbofileBjfAmD-u1503867657)
Each section is a house and each house represents an area of your life and a part of your body. Each house is assigned a sign that rules over it, the houses are not energy!! They are the area in life where these energies are more likely to manifest.
The four most important houses are the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses and have the biggest impact on one’s life. These are known as the angular houses, and each house has a specific name, 1st is the Ascendant, 4th is the I.C., 7th is the Descendant, and the 10th is the M.C.
This picture right here covers the basics of your houses and their meanings, their natural rulers, the classifications of houses, and where they all lie.
I plan on going more into depth about each house in future posts. But amazing blogs such as astrollusion and leoasf have made amazing posts about the houses already. When talking about the houses you often here the term stellium get thrown around. A stellium is when you have 3 or more planets/luminaries in one house in a chart. The stellium has to consist of at least one personal planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, or Mars). Where a stellium lies shows that this aspect of your life is illuminated and highly important and emphasized. As you can see in my chart I have a 4th house stellium in Scorpio (Sun, Mercury, and Pluto) and a 6th house stellium in Capricorn (Moon, Uranus, and Neptune). These are aspects of my life that are highly focused on.
Along with an area of life, the charts also represent parts of the body, here they are:
1st- Head, brain, face, eyes, and appearance.
2nd- Throat, neck, thyroid gland, and voice.
3rd- Arms, lungs, shoulders, hands, and nervous system.
4th- Chest, breasts, stomach, alimentary canal
5th- Heart, chest, spine, spinal column, upper back
6th- Digestive system, intestines, spleen, overall health, and nervous system
7th- Kidneys, skin, and lumbar region
8th- Reproductive system, sexual organs, bowels, and excretory system
9th- Hips, ass, thighs, liver, and sciatic nerve
10th- Knees, joints, and skeletal system
11th- Ankles and circulatory system
12th- Feet, toes, lymphatic system, adipose tissue
A planet in a house represents a specific energy being brought to that part of your life. I’ll list what energies these planets can bring. (the first indent represents in aspects of life, while the second is in relation to the body):
SUN
I see it as the part of life where one truly feels alive, they feel the strongest and most in control here. Where we need to feel special and separate from others.
MOON
How we go about getting emotional comfort and satisfaction. Where deep personal attachments should be made, where we can find emotional fulfillment
MERCURY
Where the mind comes alive and is developed, where your thoughts were developed, where you apply your communicative and mental abilities
VENUS
Where you feel valued or where you look to feel values, where money can be gained, enhances beauty, charm, and the aesthetic of the body part or area of life. Where you look for love or where love can be found.
MARS
What makes you passionate, where you showcase your passions and aggression, your sexual life, where you are defensive and powerful.
JUPITER
Expansion, where you’ll grow spiritually and mentally. Where luck can be found
SATURN
Where you felt restricted, boundaries, failures, what will limit you, where your hard work will pay off in the long run, where you are restrained
URANUS
Where you strive to separate yourself from the group, where in life you seek individual freedom and expression. Where your eccentric and restless qualities take root
NEPTUNE
What lies hidden to you, spirituality, where the subconscious manifests, where addiction can take hold, where you overindulge (can be work, love, sex, etc)
PLUTO
Power struggles, trauma, darkness, rapid and complete change
It’s all up to you guys now…

Our family weekends were punctuated by board games when I was (much) younger. Great fan already at the time of Hotels, the mysteries of Peking Scotland Yard (my favorite), Monopoly, good pay, Trivial Pursuit, Cluedo, The game of life and so on.
These good times came back to me when I played Zombies! with my sister last week (even at 2 we had a blast, finally ELLE exploded) So I wanted to go further to see what became of the board games. Graphics, equipment and game mechanics had to be improved and that's indeed my feeling.
We regret one thing on the other hand: the difficulty to find these little jewels. The board game seems to be synonymous with childhood, since in store we will find mainstream games. It will go to specialized store for a game dedicated to the most passionate. Fortunately, the Internet can break the barrier but when you need advice, nothing like a specialty store.
So already for me, beginner but still warrior, I retained several games following the rules, videos and graphics that I could see. I spent nearly 3 evenings watching the Tric Trac TV (must-see site with a huge community and very nice!). [Pour ceux qui se posent la question indiscrète : oui, je n’ai que ça à faire car ma moitié rentre à 22h30]. Here are the games that caught my attention:
Pandemic (2-4 players, 45 min / part, + 10 years, 30 €) Collaborative game (hoooo) whose players must ally to prevent the spread of 4 diseases. Board game highly recommended by the community because the cooperative seems to revive the board games and here, to win, it will be necessary to get up early. The must is obviously the very catchy theme. So much so that pandemic is no longer available in stores or at the publisher (total break?), So do not hang around!
Board game without a map (rare) in which players will have to save as many people as possible from an island that is sinking. The boats are few and sharks watch, but if it was just that? A game of atmosphere that seems to be unanimous in its accessibility and aesthetics. In addition, between low blows and secretiveness the game seems particularly fun. Very good game so to start, I bought today taking advantage of the 20% (only today) at Virgin. My half do not like cards, long to read / remember ... so it's perfect. A game obviously family but which remains nonetheless strategic. Little parenthesis, at Virgin, since we talk, I could see the adventurers of the rail (tirelessly exhausted!), Catania, Carcassonne, Civilization (the game is super heavy!), Mr Jack, Small World (exhausted, who bought the box in the window ...) a lot of mini card games, unavoidable (monopoly ...), the games of Witty Edition too. In short, Virgin is nice with us, it must be underlined!
Myrmes (the publisher pronounced Myrmesse) is a game still for enthusiasts since the management of an ant colony during the 4 seasons require a minimum of strategy or at least 2 good hours of reading rules and handling. Nevertheless the original theme will seduce the craziest of us. Frustrating at first, he reveals all his subtleties after a few games. So go your way if you want to relax and you do not know him at all, but give him a chance if you are motivated especially that the game is damn bluffing. A fix (on a board, not important for the game) will be released in April 2013. Small World a game of conquest region particularly successful because there is very little chance. Conquest, placement, strategy and fight are the watchwords. Rave reviews invade the net since it seems simple enough without being easy. In short, a big success. We can not talk board game without talking about the very famous atmosphere game Dobble. It's a round card game with different designs. Until then everything is fine but these cards have ONLY ONE drawing in common with the others. So we can play Dobble in different ways, including the hot potato that I enjoy: each player places his card face up on the palm of his hand, and the goal is to get rid of his card by putting it on another card where we found THE drawing in common. He who has in his hands all the pile of cards lost. Be careful not to damage the cards.
The adventurers of the rail is available on iOS that's how I knew him but his family board game is one of the best-selling games each year. We do not present it anymore. The goal is to reach the towns of the plateau by cars whose color depends on the railway you want to use. The Scandinavia and Europe version are the favorites of the players. I will opt for the Europe version, because there are stations and ports that have been introduced. The rules are learned very quickly and everyone is good at the concept. The game is quite addictive because the replayability is excellent. Waka Waka is a little crush for me: simple rules (perfect for first acquisition LOL), immersive graphics. What more ? The goal is to improve one's social position through offerings (in the form of resources recovered here and there). 2 small caveats: it is that there is too much chance and especially everyone is housed in the same sign: each social rank costs so much for anyone, there are no bonuses or penalties applicable, so I will not have 10 years as a minimum age. That said, it does not make less an affordable family game and fun (the shot of the fire is pretty) Another favorite is this descendants whose goal is to be the most prestigious family over several generations regardless of the field (political, economic, craft ...). Attention actions cost time and when we manage generations it can quickly degenerate [ok je sors]. But very nice game to put in all hands Game of investigation and deduction, is played only with 2: the one playing Mr Jack the ripper and the other the investigator. Success in couples. The parts are renewed well and the balance is well thought out. Small flat for the big place to luck in this game. I was a fan of Scotland Yard, it's a must have. So it will be next on my list with Pandemic.
I then selected 2 racing games:
jamaica (2-6 players, 50 min / game, +8 years, 40 €): win the race with as much money as possible Tokaido (2-5 players, 45 min / game, +8 years, $ 35): on the theme of the famous road that connects Kyoto to Edo it will win this game course with the most possible memories but be careful not to miss his meals and take his time. Fan of Japan, this last game will probably be in my basket soon with Takenoko (2-4 players, 45 min / Part, +8 years old, € 33): management of a bamboo plantation for a particularly greedy panda. Once well trained we will turn to games a little more complex as Dungeons Lords : dungeons to build, Lords to be satisfied, Trolls to pay and feed ... it is the difficult and laborious daily life of a Dungeon Master.
So sorry, but I'm not a fan of ambient games like jungle speed, time's up, etc ... because hard to play 2.
