Hello, I have a question regarding Brienne IV, AFFC:
“He agreed. "Brune's too old to go climbing wallwalks, and his sons and grandsons went off to the wars. No one left in there but wenches, and a snot-nosed babe or three."
It was on her lips to ask her guide which king Lord Brune had espoused, but it made no matter any longer. Brune's sons were gone; some might not be coming back.”
Based off this brief passage, who do you think the Lords of Crackclaw Point likely supported during the War of the Five Kings?
Lothor Brune was knighted for his service during the Blackwater, so probably very tepid support for Joffrey.
Thanks for the question, Anon.

TWOIAF/Fire & Blood: The Trial By Seven
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
Visenya has crowned Maegor and proclaimed him King of Westeros. Visenya and Maegor arrived and King’s Landing and laid down the challenge: “Want some? Come get some!”
The Warrior’s Sons picked up the gauntlet. Seven hundred knights, led by Ser Damon “the Devout”, rode to Visenya’s Hill.
Maegor wasn’t in the mood to persuade or pacify his opponents: “Let us not bandy words. Swords will decide this matter.”
Damon the Devout agreed: “Let each side have seven champions, as it was done in Andalos of old. Can you find six men to stand beside you?”
This was the moment Maegor realized he left the Kingsguard at Dragonstone and Visenya isn’t as spry as she used to be. Maegor asked the crowd: “Who will come and stand beside his king?” The crowd played the “sorry, I can’t hear you” game as the Warrior’s Sons were fierce fighters. Dick Bean, a master-at-arms, volunteered to fight with Maegor: “I been a king’s man since I was a boy. I mean to die a king’s man.”
Dick’s courage shamed a knight to step forward: Bernarr Brune, the quire who had slain Harren the Red and had been knighted by King Aenys. Bernarr proclaimed: “This Bean shames us all! Are there no true knights here? No leal men?”
Bernarr’s scorn cased others to come forward: Ser Bramm of Blackhull (a hedge knight), Ser Rayford Rosby, Ser Guy “the Glutton” Lothson, and Ser Lucifer Massey, the Lord of Stonedance.
Playing for the other team are Ser Damon “the Devout” Morrigen (Grand Captain of the Warrior’s Sons), Ser Lyle Bracken, Ser Harys “Death’s Head Harry” Horpe, Ser Aegon Ambrose, Ser Dickon Flowers (the Bastard of Beesbury), Ser William the Wanderer, and Ser Garibald of the Seven Stars (the septon knight).
Before covering the Trial by Seven, have the opposing sides taken the time to clarify the stakes in the fight? What happens if Maegor wins? He’s recognized as king? The Warrior’s Sons leave King’s Landing? The Faith ceases their rebellion? If the Warrior’s Sons win? What? The Targaryens forfeit their claim to the throne? The Faith chooses the next king? Does Damon have the authority to make these decisions/concessions? Would the High Septon honor the agreements? What is the point of this mortal combat?
Damon the Devout led a prayer before the fight. Visenya gave the command to begin. Fight!
The only agreed version of the fight was that Dick Bean died first, cut down by Lyle Bracken. The rest of the details vary wildly. Some say the fight went on for hours, other say it lasted minutes. No one seems to agree on whether Lord Massey killed Harry Horpe or if Horpe killed Massey. The ending came down to Maegor versus Damon the Devout and William the Wanderer. Maegor slew Damon and dealt William a death blow but William gave the king a terrible blow to the head before dying. The blow cracked Maegor’s helm and left him insensate.
Maegor was declared the victor as he was the only combatant still alive – comatose but alive.
Visenya ordered Maegor to be taken to the maesters. The Swords of the Faith “dropped to their knees in submission” and Visenya ordered the Warrior’s Sons to return to Rhaenys’ Hill.
The trial didn’t resolve a thing – the Warrior’s Sons are still in King’s Landing with no intention of leaving. The Faith is still in rebellion. The only result was the death of thirteen men and a weakened Maegor. So what was the point? This is why you discuss parameters before a fight to the death! The main purpose of the fight seems to be a rationalization for Maegor’s post-coma cruelty.
Up next, Maegor takes a month-long nap.

House Tyrell of Brightwater Keep but that's on hold for the moment.
House Arryn of Gulltown seems a good example of a cadet branch that married into trade.
at what point do you go from being a son of a major house to being a cadet house to just being some dude with a good name? if jaime had married and had children (purely for genealogical debate purposes), would they also be lannisters of casterly rock while tywin was still alive, prior to jaime becoming lord of the rock? what if tyrion married, had children, but did not inherit because jaime did? are his children lannisters of the rock? (1/2)
(2/2)if tyrion buys a tower and sets up home in it, is it a cadet house? is tyrion a lannister of the rock, but not his kids? if his kids wander out to be traveling knights, are they lannisters of his cadet house? if they go marry innkeepers and live from home, are THOSE kids then finally not lannisters of the rock but just bob and tom lannister? are there rules? thanks!
First of all, cadet houses are not originally an ASOIAF thing – they’re a real-world historical thing. See the wikipedia article for “cadet branch”, that should answer many of your questions. GRRM has put a few of his own twists on the concept, though, so let me explain.
A cadet house in Westeros is created when a younger son or junior branch, not in the direct line of inheritance, is granted or acquires his/their own lands and castle and forms a new branch of the main house. Some examples:
House Greystark: thousands of years back, a younger son of House Stark and his family were granted the Wolf’s Den on land that would eventually become White Harbor. The Greystarks were around for five hundred years before they joined with the Boltons to rebel against House Stark, which ended badly for them; they are now extinct.
House Karstark: founded a thousand years ago by Karlon Stark, who was granted lands for his valor and built the castle Karl’s Hold. The name of the castle eventually shifted to Karhold, and over time the Karhold Starks became Karstarks. Their motto, “the sun of winter”, is a punning reference to their originator, a son of House Stark.
House Lannister of Lannisport: founded thousands of years ago, when there were too many junior branch Lannisters to fit in Casterly Rock anymore. Instead of expanding the tunnels of the Rock, they moved into a village a mile away and turned it into a town, then a city. Note, the Lannisters of Lannisport are only distantly related to the Lannisters of Casterly Rock (though probably some younger sons have married into them within the past couple hundred years) and have no real claim to the Rock.
House Blackfyre: a cadet house of House Targaryen, founded about 120 years ago by a legitimized bastard of King Aegon IV, who was granted lands by the Blackwater by his half-brother King Daeron II in respect of their late father’s wishes. Soon rebelled against the Targaryens, leading to five Blackfyre Rebellions; were exiled from Westeros, and are extinct in the male line.
House Fossoway of New Barrel: founded about 100 years ago when a cousin from a younger branch of House Fossoway finally had enough of his main-line cousin’s assholery – he changed his sigil to a green apple instead of a red one, and at some point acquired his own lands and castle. In current Westeros, characters often distinguish between the red-apple or green-apple Fossoways.
House Royce of the Gates of the Moon: uncertain when they were founded (at least 50 years ago), but the lord of the junior branch of House Royce of Runestone has been serving as the Keeper of the Gates of the Moon (an Arryn castle) for some years now. (The Keepers are traditionally Arryn kinsmen, note.) Recently they were granted the title and the castle in perpetuity by the Lord Protector of the Vale.
House Baratheon of King’s Landing and House Baratheon of Dragonstone: founded after Robert’s Rebellion, when Robert Baratheon became king of Westeros, and granted the Baratheon lands and castle of Storm’s End to his youngest brother Renly, and the formerly Targaryen castle and lands of Dragonstone to his younger brother Stannis. As the eldest son of House Baratheon, Robert could have reserved both Storm’s End and Dragonstone for his own potential sons, and left his brothers to fend for themselves, but he was carelessly generous instead. Note, the King’s Landing Baratheons currently use a split Baratheon/Lannister sigil, and the Dragonstone Baratheons use a sigil of the heart of R’hllor with the Baratheon crowned stag inside.
House Frey of Riverrun: The family of Emmon Frey and Genna Lannister, granted Riverrun after the Tullys were attainted by the crown, as part of the rewards for the Frey participation in the Red Wedding. (Note this does not include lordship over the Riverlands; that belongs to House Baelish of Harrenhal.) See also House Bolton of Winterfell and House Lannister of Darry.
Regarding your specific questions:
If Jaime had married and had children, would they also be Lannisters of Casterly Rock while Tywin was still alive? Yes, certainly, especially since Jaime is the eldest son and heir of Tywin. (I’m assuming this is in a no Kingsguard Jaime AU of course.) Note that Tywin was a Lannister of Casterly Rock when his grandfather Gerold the Golden was still alive, and Tywin’s younger brother Kevan and his family are Lannisters of Casterly Rock, and Tywin’s uncle Jason’s descendants are Lannisters of Casterly Rock. There’s a lot of Lannisters of Casterly Rock. (This family tree may not even be all of them.) Casterly Rock is big. There’s plenty of room for Lannisters.
What if Tyrion married, had children, but did not inherit because Jaime did? Are his children Lannisters of the Rock?Yes, as long as they keep living in Casterly Rock, see the above question.
If Tyrion buys a tower and sets up home in it, is it a cadet house? You can’t just buy a tower in Westeros, this is feudalism, all lands and castles belong to some lordly or knightly house already, and they don’t get sold. (He could buy a house in a city, but cities are different - ask @racefortheironthrone for the reasons why.) But Tyrion could be granted a tower, mind you. Or a castle. Tywin, for example, wanted to give Tyrion Winterfell. (Or the chance to capture Winterfell, at least.) If that had succeeded, Tyrion and Sansa’s children would likely found the cadet House Lannister of Winterfell. (Yes, it’s possible to have cadet houses in different regions of Westeros – see House Kenning.) It would be similar if Tyrion were granted lands and a castle in the Westerlands, although Tywin wouldn’t be likely to give him any such thing. (Jaime might, if Jaime were lord; but if Jaime were lord, Tyrion probably wouldn’t want to move out of the Rock.)
Is Tyrion a Lannister of the Rock, but not his kids?Tyrion would likely always consider himself to be a Lannister of the Rock, even if he formed a cadet house, and his kids might as well. Cadet houses are sometimes formed over time – see the Karstarks, who possibly considered themselves Starks of Winterfell who happened to live in Karl’s Hold for the first generation or two. But if a major family division was what caused the cadet house (see the green-apple Fossoways), then the choice to be associated with the new castle would encourage the separation. In the case of the theorized Lannisters of Winterfell, see the Freys of Riverrun or the Lannisters of Darry – the association of the new cadet house with the castle is part of the conquering of that castle and lands, to show both dominance over it and a connection to its smallfolk.
If his kids wander out to be traveling knights, are they Lannisters of his cadet house?Yes. See Ser Lothor Brune, a freerider who is related to the knightly cadet branch House Brune of Brownhollow, not the lordly main branch House Brune of the Dyre Den. (His sigil is the Brune of Brownhollow bear paw, distinguished by the apple cores of the Fossoways he slew and captured at the Battle of the Blackwater, from which he gained his knighthood.)
If they go marry innkeepers and live from home, are THOSE kids then finally not Lannisters of the Rock but just Bob and Tom Lannister? If they go and marry innkeepers they’ve married into trade, the horror. But they’re still a cadet branch of House Lannister. See the Arryns of Gulltown, a cadet branch who married merchants and are rich, though they’re considered uncouth and nobody talks about them. You’ve got to really suffer defeats to lose your status of nobility but keep your name – though that can happen, see the Heddles, who are innkeepers and considered smallfolk or as close to middle class as Westeros gets, but who are the descendants of a landed knight. (BTW, you’re suggesting the names Bob and Tom Lannister as a joke, but this is a family with a Jason, Dave, Kevin, and Gerry, so it’s not that off.)
Are there rules? The rules are what you make of them. It’s a matter of custom and tradition and societal acceptance, not law as such.
I hope that helps!

Tommy heard Joel refer his preggo wife as Humpty Dumpty ONCE and is now lecturing Joel about how you're supposed to treat your wife. The little shit. Who isn't even married.
"Im just saying," Tommy starts yet AGAIN. "You call your beautiful, amazing, gorgeous--"
"Easy on the descriptions of MY wife--"
"Pregnant lady, a Humpty dumpty? Like? Do you hear how fucking shitty that is?"
Of course he didn't bother to ask WHY Joels calls you in your pregnant state " Humpty Dumpty". Hes not referring at all to your belly nor size.
Nope. It's because dumpty, coming from the Greek words n shit, for dumpt truck of an ASS that you've grown and he can smack all he want.
And Humpty, from the Latin language or something, because --
"Hi handsome," you coo, crawling up to Joel's lying body on the couch, awkwardly positioning your knees on either side and settling your crotch atop his thighs.
You sigh contently, rolling your hips back and forth to relieve the bruning ache on your poor pussy that you can no longer touch with your hands anymore.
.... Humpty--because you keep humping every god damn thing in this house! Especially him . Every day. If it isn't Joels leg or arm or hand or stomach or face, it's the matress edge. Or pillow, or arm rest, or couch, or car light, or literally anything you can get your legs around. You were a humping fiend. No object was safe.
He grips your thighs so you can focus on your pleasure, using him like a goddamn pillow. With your size, it's just little Bounces and rolls, nothing major, but enough that you get your stimulus to your horny little self satisfied.
When you finally cum, so sexy and breathless atop him, staining his jeans with your arousal, you slide down on his side and face him, kissing his neck.
Hes about to return to his nap when your incessant fingers start drumming on his pants zipper. "Hellooooo wakey wakey! " You hum to his dick, patting it like youre knocking on the door. "Can he come and play, Joely?" You whisper with a pout against his cheek.
You manager to also sneakily force his hand around your hip, flat over your plump booty for an instinctual squeeze. At the same time, your hips are moving forward and humping his leg again, awaiting his reply.
Humpty. Dumpty.
There you go.

One reason for why I find shipping Jonsa as a canon ship hilarious is that book Sansa would be so horrified if anyone suggested she marry Jon Snow!
And I think it's because Jonsa shippers themselves think differently to book Sansa. They know that Jon is a central character in the series, that he is a decent guy, has some secret parentage issues going on with the possibility of legitimacy, is loyal and forward thinking etc.
However, these matters don't concern book Sansa. She is a Stark - one of the last remaining Starks in Westeros. She is the eldest daughter of house Stark. The eldest daughter of the former Warden of the North and one of the formerly strongest houses of Westeros which still has a lot of loyalty from other Northern houses. She grew up with high expectations for her marriage.
She was formerly destined to be Queen of Westeros by marriage to Joffrey. She was considered for marriage to the Tyrell heir and would have been Lady of Highgarden. She married Tyrion Lannister who is heir to Casterly Rock. She is currently plotting to marry Harry the Heir - future heir to the Vale upon SweetRobin's death.
So as is seen by her as her right, Sansa expects a marriage to a very high born noble. So far all her prospects have been heirs to big houses and kingdoms.
In AGoT she thinks that the Stark Steward's daughter Jeyne Poole - The Pooles possibly being minor lords with a holdfast near Winterfell - was far beneath Lord Beric Dondarrion.
"Lord Beric is as much a hero as Ser Loras. He's ever so brave and gallant." "I suppose," Sansa said doubtfully. Beric Dondarrion was handsome enough, but he was awfully old, almost twenty-two; the Knight of Flowers would have been much better. Of course, Jeyne had been in love with Lord Beric ever since she had first glimpsed him in the lists. Sansa thought she was being silly; Jeyne was only a steward's daughter, after all, and no matter how much she mooned after him, Lord Beric would never look at someone so far beneath him, even if she hadn't been half his age.
For the same reason, Sansa would think that the bastard Jon Snow was beneath someone like Jeyne Poole.
In fact in her most recent sample TWoW chapter we see she doesn't think much of bastards. Five books in, with the very last published chapter, we see her matchmaking for the 19 year old Mya Stone with the much older, very low born, not good looking Lothor Brune because according to her that would be a good match for a bastard...
Alayne wondered what Mya made of Ser Lothor. With his squashed nose, square jaw, and nap of woolly grey hair, Brune could not be called comely, but he was not ugly either. Though he had risen to knighthood, Ser Lothor's birth had been very low. Brune would be a good match for a bastard girl like Mya Stone, she thought. It might be different if her father had acknowledged her, but he never did. And Maddy says that she's no maid either.
Sansa would be utterly shocked if someone suggested she marry loyal, honest, good Lothor Brune. He would be very low born for her. And if Lothor Brune is not good enough for Sansa how would she feel about marrying a baseborn bastard?
As much as Sansa would be joyful to reunite with her last living relative Jon Snow, she would rather match-make Jon Snow with some low born girl, some hedge knight's or freerider's daughter than marry him. And she would still think that a baseborn like Jon Snow would be lucky to marry someone higher up the chain like lowborn girls - the same way she thinks of Mya Stone and Lothor Brune.
Remember, bastards don't have any lands and are stigmatized as less than, being treacherous and lustful by nature of birth. Ned Stark gave Jon Snow no lands, instead packed him off to the Night's Watch.
Remember Alys Karstark dancing with Robb Stark and not Jon Snow because her father took her there to meet with the heir and not the bastard?
Look at Jaime's thoughts about Sybell Spicer:
"Your lord father promised me worthy marriages for Jeyne and her younger sister. Lords or heirs, he swore to me, not younger sons nor household knights." Lords or heirs. To be sure. The Westerlings were an old House, and proud, but Lady Sybell herself had been born a Spicer, from a line of upjumped merchants.
Or Lady Sybell's reaction to betrothing her son to Joy Hill. And this is only house Westerling.
"I have two sons as well," Lady Westerling reminded him. "Rollam is with me, but Raynald was a knight and went with the rebels to the Twins. If I had known what was to happen there, I would never have allowed that." Even from the grave, Lord Tywin's dead hand moves us all. "Joy is my late uncle Gerion's natural daughter. A betrothal can be arranged, if that is your wish, but any marriage will need to wait. Joy was nine or ten when last I saw her." "His natural daughter?" Lady Sybell looked as if she had swallowed a lemon. "You want a Westerling to wed a bastard?"
Also recall that the original arrangement was for two bastards to marry - Joy Hill, Gerion Lannister's bastard, to marry a Frey bastard.
So imagine Sansa's reaction to a suggestion that she marry the bastard Jon Snow... She would think it's a joke and laugh. She would be aghast and horrified. She would be repulsed and see it as punishment.
That's just how the high born Westerosi society thinks. Bastards are seen as the lowest strata. This is how feudal classism works in Westeros.
So unless Sansa gets suddenly and magically enlightened on classist prejudice, then Jonsa is something that is never, ever, ever going to happen. This is not even getting into what Jon Snow thinks and feels about the high born traditional ladies upholding Westerosi patriarchal ideals of femininity.

NOTE TO SELF:
Seth Abramson Article "HotD Ryan Condal Responds to Criticism of the Season 1 Finale" -> basically how HotD is written disfavorably against both female characters in the most basic fiction writing way (active vs passivity making and breaking a character) AND inconsistencies of basic logic
My Post Questioning the Logic of Their Relationship
A List of Posts I Wrote against the Anti-Targ Sentiment
Incest in Old Vayria and Marriage
The Popularity of the Targs vs First Men/Andal History Pre-Targs
Somehow, the Targs are "Upstarts" (Against a Classist Take which reveals the fear of dragons and magic bc they are consistently shown to be dualittic instruments of freedom and destruction, thus out of the control of "mere" humans)
This One Post Written by Ozymalek about How Many Years Westeros Actually Had Peace Under the Targs (no infighting like what occurred BEFORE Aegon I conquered [not colonized] Westeros)
Ozymalek Dissecting Episode 6 and how Show!alicent Doesn't Compare to Book!Alicent (While episodes 6 & 7 were closer to the book!Alicent, she is still is the over-victimized/dumbed down version)
Against the Idea that Rhaenyra Had to What the Other Lords Thought She Should be, since They Already Think her unworthy based on her Gender
The Textual/Canonical Treatment of Alicent Reveals Misogyny from the Maesters and Larger Westerosi Society Against Her in a Multilayered Ironic Twist -> History barely remembers and the text/Gyldayn/maesters/society don't truly see her as a true threat, yet she directs the usurpation of Rhaenyra with her Wits by Acting within the Constraints of the Very PAtriarchy that will Belittle Her)
So Really, It's a Lot More Complicated than What is Being Lead Here
LOOk I’m not saying that the dragon show is perfect, but I’m tired of reading these takes about how the show doesn’t understand the source material. That it has a pro-Targ stance. How people can say that even after a finale where two Targs lose control of their fire-breathing nukes and end up jump-starting the bloodiest civil war in Westerosi history?? I don’t know.
People seem to think that the show has portrayed Rhaenyra as perfect (questionable) and the good guy, and wouldn’t it be better if they’d stayed more faithful to the source material where Rhaenyra was kinda awful and a terrible leader?
Here’s the thing about the source material okay (and I’ve seen surprisingly little discussion of this): F&B is written from the perspective of a Maester living in a world steeped in violent misogyny. Maester Gyldayn’s prejudice against women colors his interpretations of events. I think Martin expects the reader to engage with this aspect of the text. That not only are we dealing with three unreliable sources, but the narrator himself has his own prejudices. Women who birth trueborn male children are spoken of much more charitably than women who refuse to marry or exhibit any sort of sexual agency. In fact, any woman exercising sexual agency has been characterized as fickle, manipulative, or vindictive (e.g. Saera Targaryen, Rhaenyra, Alys Rivers, etc.). So we can’t take any of the Maester’s impressions about women at face value. This shit is subtextual and it is frustratingly ignored by A LOT of book readers.
HotD is directly engaging with this latent theme in F&B. Which is GREAT and unexpected after the way GoT treated women. A lot of people seem to think that the show is pro-team black, but I think the show’s just pro-Rhaenyra (it’s also pro-Alicent, I’m sorry if you can’t accept this but Rhaenyra 👏and👏 Alicent👏 are👏 the 👏protagonists). Or at least it’s trying to portray her with more empathy and nuance. Book!Rhaenyra doesn’t have much agency. Daemon is the driving force behind everything she does. He teaches her how to have sex, he fights all the battles she wins; after Luke’s death she’s barely involved in the war. From the perspective of a misogynistic Maester this must be the truth. The show could’ve portrayed a more morally gray Rhaenyra but ultimately the writers decided to make this show about Rhaenyra and Alicent and their tragic, doomed love affair the disintegration of their relationship, as a commentary on how violent patriarchal systems ruin people even when they have generally good intentions. And show!Rhaenyra’s far from perfect, she’s arrogant, she (like her groomer uncle) has issues with consent, she absolutely takes advantage of her dumb dad’s callous treatment of everyone apart from her.
So the fucking white stag is the thing people bring up as an example of the the show picking Rhaenyra as the rightful ruler/ chosen one. But this ignores the context of the what happened before we see the white stag. Viserys’s hunting party has caught a normal stag, and we see him unwilling to kill it but caving under the pressure because that’s who he is as a person and as a king. Viserys hates violence but when it is expected of him he will enact it (cutting open his first wife to get an heir, committing marital rape on his second wife). Rhaenyra sees the white stag but she shows restraint. Her claim to the throne is already threatened by Aegon’s birth, killing the stag would have been as symbolic gesture to show the lords present at the hunt that her father had made the right choice when naming her as heir. But unlike her father (and her uncle) Rhaenyra does not believe in using violence as a show of strength (something that becomes relevant again in the finale).
The stag can’t be a sign that Rhaenyra is the divinely appointed ruler of Westeros because we (and the writers) know how this all ends.
AND THEN there’s prophecy and the business with the dagger. Now we’ll have to see where they go with this (I think they have some coherent plan with this). But does the prophecy as the reason for Aegon’s conquest now cast Targaryen imperialism in a positive light? Well again, we know how the story ends. It was a dumb af ending but this is the prequel to GoT the show, so writers know how this ends. The Targs don’t do shit with this dagger. Their precious prophecy will be lost to time. The most they did was act as glorified couriers who brought the dagger from Valyria. All their ideas of grand destiny will amount to nothing. What do you call that? Dramatic irony?
#house of the dragon#rhaenyra targeryan#alicent hightower#rhaenicent#hotd writing#well it's apparent that this is coming from the idea that rhaenyra apparently is “arrogant” (negatively esp)#and that the prophjecy of the song of ice and fire is a useless unimportant element to the series literally called A Song of Ice and Fire#said prophecy which is about the very state and fate of the world as all these people and those in the main series knows it#oh and the idea that the targs are mainly/just a negative presence in westeros and somehow magic/symbolism means way less than the#“reality” of human politics OH WAIT one of the biggest moments of ASoIaF narratively and thematically are dragons those very same#“nukes” OP describes again mainly negatively because of a latent but bruning anxiety of how little control the “average” human (like#the Westerosi/Andal/FM (btw whose ancestors are closer to the imperialists the Westerosi Targs are being accused of)#its actually not latent at all the theme either how the maesters write women displaying agency of any sort negatively#its quite obvious and the sentence OP writes actually reveals how obvious both they and how we SHOULD see....talk about a slip of the finge#despite all of this writing in favor of the rhaenicent plot/relationship and DESPITE F&B BEING WRITTEN BY MAESTERS there is irrefutable#evidence of characterizations and character ages through repeated behaviors those behaviors' contexts and outside websites (So Spake Martin#that show us rhaenicent is a fabrication#one that actually reduces both alicent & rhaenyra's agency as compared to what we glean (if we know how to read) from websites & the book(s

Now that my shock, my embarrassment, my indignation, my sadness and my anger have passed, and I'm calmer… Yeah, there were a lot of feelings per second when that bomb was dropped on Roy's route.
Anyway, I ended up thinking of some theories, and I just wanted to put it on record.
Spoilers after the cut
01. Fake relationship I really want to believe that this relationship between Roy and Brune is something like a fake relationship. Something they're faking to deal with a personal situation because they're good friends, and everyone at the company got in on the game, in this case. It was actually very shocking when it was mentioned in the episode that the two of them are a couple, but precisely, it was very out of the blue! We never see the two of them interacting during the episodes, and suddenly they're a couple? Brune herself is only seen next to Elenda, practically. I had even gone so far as to wonder if they didn't have something. And within the episode, if you choose to have Happy Hour at home, she sends a message to Elenda, her friend, letting her know that she couldn't go to the party because of water infiltration at her mother's house, but she doesn't tell the own boyfriend? Plus, he's going to the party anyway. Roy is cool, I imagine he would offer to help his girlfriend and mother-in-law with this problem. Something seems so strange to me… It could be my paronoia, still driven by the frustration from before despite everything. Another thing that I just remembered, but that I don't have all the facts gathered to support the argument, is that, in episode 1, when we go to the rest area for the second time, we find Brune and Elenda arguing about something mysterious. Elenda thinks Brune should impose herself on something, but she doesn't want to. I only chose the option of not interfering, so I don't know if it has any relation, and I also don't know if they explain a little without going into details if you choose the other options. But precisely because it doesn't have any context, it sounds suspicious to me. I mean, why would New Gen's screenwriters go to the trouble of creating a mysterious dialogue about an unresolved issue, which the protagonist even needs to witness before moving on with the story, so as not to use it later as a scheduling tool? Of course, we've only had two episodes so far to have context about this couple. Still, it's so strange. I love Brune, but she's really the last person I would imagine would be in a relationship with Roy. They just don't seem… on the same vibe? Of course I could be very wrong and end up breaking my face too. Premium Highlight for the moment in the scene when the protagonist goes all out to kiss Roy thanks to Truth or Dare, everyone thinks it's better not to, and even so Roy insists on at least giving her a little kiss on the cheek. I still don't know how to feel about this… 02. Relationship in ruins One thing I ended up thinking too, and this completely taking into account the description and title of episode 4:
"Hearts Looking For Love"
The entire Devenementiel team is meeting for coffee at Cozy Bear and, by force of circumstances, talking about relationships. The time has come to take stock of each person’s love situation…
It is also quite likely that, if Roy and Brune are indeed in a relationship, they may cut ties due to incompatibility. Like I said, they look very different from each other. That old law of physics about opposites attracting is beautiful in fiction, but realistically speaking, it doesn't usually work very well. Two people in a relationship who just disagree or don't have at least some tastes that they share and enjoy together can work like giving someone a rope to hang themselves. Speaking from experience. At the same time, I understand that for every rule, there is an exception. I just never saw it happen, but who knows? Anyway, that's not the point. This second theory of mine starts from: They are incompatible, or, somehow, the relationship had been cooling down for some time before the protagonist arrived at the company. In this next episode, they end up breaking up, and this generates the conversation at Cozy Bear. Perhaps the company group decided to get together to console one of the broken hearts and the conversation about the main theme of the episode ended up arising from this point. 03. Beemoov wrote another route about betrayal… Realmente não quero acreditar nessa, mas considerando que já fizeram uma vez, envolvendo o Eric, eles não precisam ter medo de fazer de novo, imagino… There's not much to say here other than what the title suggests. New Candy is officially a "Comedora de casados." "Affectionate" term that we give here in Brazil to people who go after people who are already committed to try to date them. Easy to sum it up as a lack of character. It's okay that, in her case, it was really unintentional, after all, she really didn't know. Still, it's comical and tragic that it happened twice in a row! One with Ioan and, for those following the route, another with Roy. And I thought that lightning couldn't strike twice in the same place. I laughed so nervously when this bomb was dropped, you have no idea…
In any case, what do you think? Do you agree with me, disagree with me, or have your own theories?
Ps: I think this all ended up coming out as a big rant…

Hairstyle of a young brunette woman. — Wavy headbands with a blur and large waves. Roots of the temples simply raised and bouffant wavy even with a flou-flou. A simple bun twisted behind forming a sort of elongated knot. This is the hairstyle clearly denoting the taste for artistic elegance which characterizes everything that comes out of the Lenthéric house. The flou-flou is a delicious little system, extraordinarily remarkable as a find, with which anyone can make their own waves, for any type of hairstyle. Without headbands, with headbands for girls, young girls, etc. This charming device only leaves small ribbon knots appearing in the hair. Moreover, in a future column, Ms. de Clessy will talk to you in detail about all the advantages that coquettes will find by using this little system which is patented in all countries of the world.

My candy love New Gen ep 3 edit (2/3)
Here's the second edit. For Chloé this episode was a roller coaster. She chose to organize the whole party at home because she felt more safe and didn't like having people staring at her and her co-workers and she chose to go with Roy for shopping (of course). They had a lot of fun picking up food and drinks. She feels carefree around him and even opens up a bit. They didn't encounter Jason but she saw a glimpse of him at some point but chose to ignore it.
At her house, She and Eleda had talked a lot about each of employees. She was a bit sad that only a couple of people showed up. She was even more sad when she found out that Roy and Brune were dating. It sort of broke her heart a little and started considering staying away from Roy. The Truth and Dare game was a bit awkward because Chloé was obviously a bit down. But things changed a bit after Roy kissed her, even if it was on the cheek. It made her feel good but also guilty. After everyone left, Chloé messaged some of her friends for advice.
Here's the outfit:

Frev nicknames compilation
Maximilien Robespierre – the Incorruptible (first used by Fréron, and then Desmoulins, in 1790).
Augustin Robespierre – Bonbon, by Antoine Buissart (1, 2), Régis Deshorties and Élisabeth Lebas. Élisabeth confirmed this nickname came from Augustin’s middlename Bon.
Charlotte Robespierre – Charlotte Carraut (hid under said name at the time of her arrest, also kept it afterwards according to Élisabeth Lebas). Caroline Delaroche (according to Laignelot in 1825, an anonymous doctor in 1849 and Pierre Joigneaux in 1908).
Louis Antoine Saint-Just – Florelle (by himself), Monsieur le Chevalier de Saint-Just (by Salle and Desmoulins)
Jean-Paul Marat – the Friend of the People (l’Ami du Peuple) (self-given since 1789, when he started his journal with the same name)
Georges-Jacques Danton – Marius (by Fréron and Lucile Desmoulins).
Éléonore Duplay – Cornélie (according to the memoirs of Charlotte Robespierre and Paul Barras. Barras also adds that Danton jokingly called Éléonore “Cornelie Copeau, the Cornelie that is not the mother of Gracchus”)
Élisabeth Duplay – Babet (by Robespierre and Philippe Lebas in her memoirs)
Jacques Maurice Duplay – my little friend (by Robespierre), our little patriot (by Robespierre)
Camille Desmoulins – Camille (given by contemporaries since 1790. Most likely a play on the Roman emperor Camillus who saved Rome from Brennus in the 4th century like Camille saved the revolution on July 12, and not a reference to Camille behaving like a manchild to the people around him like is commonly stated.) Loup (wolf) by Fréron and Lucile (1, 2), Loup-loup by Fréron (1, 2), Monsieur Hon by Lucile.
Lucile Desmoulins – Loulou (by Camille 1, 2), Loup by Camille, Lolotte (by Camille (1, 2), Rouleau by Fréron (1, 2) and Camille, the chaste Diana (by Fréron), Bouli-Boula by Fréron (1, 2).
Horace Desmoulins – little lizard (Camille), little wolf (Ricord), baby bunny (Fréron).
Annette Duplessis (Lucile’s mother) — Melpomène (by Fréron), Daronne (by Camille)
Stanislas Fréron – Lapin (bunny) (by himself (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and Lucile. According to Marcellin Matton, publisher of the Desmoulins correspondence and friend of Lucile’s mother and sister, Fréron obtained this nickname from playing with the bunnies at Lucile’s parents country house everytime he visited there, and Lucile was the one who came up with it). Martin by Camille and himself (likely a reference to the drawing ”Martin Fréron mobbed by Voltaire” which depicts Fréron’s father Élie Fréron as a donkey called ”Martin F”.)
Manon Roland — Sophie (by herself in a letter to Buzot).
Charles Barbaroux — Nysus by Manon Roland
François Buzot — Euryale by Manon Roland
Pierre Jacques Duplain — Saturne (by Fréron)
Guillaume Brune — Patagon (by Fréron)
Antoine Buissart (Robespierre’s pretend dad from Arras) — Baromètre (due to his interest in science)
Comment who had the best/worse nickname!

I made a list of every single asioaf house I could find and put it in alphabetical order. There may be a few houses missing but as of right now there are 496 houses written down. There may be some doubles, if so I apologize but when I tried to recheck it my tablet (which I used to write this) froze. I wrote this on my notes app. This includes houses from all game of Thrones media, video games, the adaptations, the books hotd and anything else I could find. I hope that whoever stumbles across this uses it because this took way to long for just me to use. (BTW houses from essos and YI-TI are includes)

MCL NG ep 3 - my opinion on Jason and Amanda's routes and differences between the park and house choices
Since I'm playing on my two main accounts, one for Jason and one for Amanda, I had the opportunity to play episode 3 with very different choices. Depending on who you go to the mall with, depending on your lov level with Jason and depending on where you celebrate the party on chapter is quite different, and I love that! It makes the re-plays more interesting and varied. Thanks for that Beemov! I love episodes like this!
If anyone is curious, I will tell here the differences between both options that I played (*SPOILERS)
With my sucrette Lily, in Jason's route, I went with Devon to the mall and he asked me what kinds of stores I liked the most, and when I meet Jason the scene develops in a quite intense way, especially if you choose the special scene. Not only there is a lot of chemistry between them with a show of competition and fun rivalry, but Jason even advices you, and offers you the possibility of working for him in Goldreamz! Sucrette rejects him and tells him that she will show him how good she is at her job in Devemenentiel as a rival (that's my girl!), and both toast the future failure of the other company. I LOVED sm their interaction, I wished it was longer, and it was also intense and hilarious to have that scene with Jason right in front of my own boss, lmao Jason, you shameless, what are you doing flirting with the competition in front of you! smirk
Then the party was at Sucrette's house, Elenda, Devon and Roy came, the others didn't and Amanda seems very upset by your decision. They meet Taki, and there's a pretty entertaining and fun scene of the three of them playing truth and dare trivia. They ask Elenda if she hates anyone and she answers that only a girl from high school who bullied her. Then they ask Devon what his first time was like, Devon is not very specific, but Roy tells you that he knows details about that because Devon told him when they were in high school XD They ask sucrette what she would do if she were invisible, my Lily answered that she would get revenge on her ex-boyfriend by making him believe that there was a poltergeist in his house (the horrified expressions of Elenda, Devon and Roy during that scene are pure gold XD) And then you can choose between a scene with Roy's kiss or one with Devon's sexy massage. I chose Devon and he gave me a massage without heasitation, but if you choose Roy he tells you that he can't kiss you on the lips because he's dating Brune.
I laughed a lot at the comments of the three characters at dinner at home. Also, Elenda was a sweetheart and I'm looking forward to having more scenes with her and becoming besties in future chapters.
Now, on Amanda's route, my other Sucrette decided to go with her to the mall. They both have a scene that I really enjoyed, looking at store windows and talking about clothes and picnic baskets. It was very cute!! My encounter with Jason here was VERY different, because on this account I've a low lovometer with him, so the conversation was shorter and drier, without any job proposition and you don't feel as much competitive tension, just contempt by his part, and then Amanda insulted him quite a bit, saying that Jason is a bitter and a loser, Amanda has no mercy XD Devon was more peaceful here. The date was in the park and Amanda's reaction to you changes a lot. Here she's very sweet and friendly. Devon shows up, but then has to leave, Brune is the first to show up and brings Spanish tapas (as a Spanish person I felt at home at this moment, haha), Thomas also shows up with his motorbike!! :D He looked gorgeous in a helmet and leather jacket omg. The next scene is very nice and calm, with everyone sharing food and chatting. Then you can choose between Amanda and Thomas, if you choose Amanda, you try the cake she brought, then you go for a walk with her and ride the seesaw in the park. The special scene is very cute and fun <3 and you can see Amanda beautiful with her hair down! And then you both talk about your respective childhoods.
In conclusion, both options are worth it, the key is which type of party you like best and which characters you prefer to increase your lovometer with.
Extra curiosities: -Devon's old high school love was a girl named Lou. -Brune is half Spanish, and she really likes motorcycles, just like Thomas. -Amanda seems to have (or had) a good relationship with her father. -Elenda was the first employee to work at Devementiel, along with Devon and Roy when they founded the company. She considers herself the "fairy godmother" of the company! -Amanda loves to cook, while Thomas doesn't like it too much. -In truth and dare, your sucrette can answer between three options for what he would do while invisible, the other two being that I did not mention: rob a bank or be an investigative journalist. I chose to annoy her ex-boyfriend, and if you say that, Elenda comments a bit worried and sad that that man must have been very bad to you, and Roy makes a joke about how he would never dare make you angry XD

Fire tw
700 words
Tumblr media
Cheslock wasn't quite all the way asleep when it happened. At first, he thought the crash of glass breaking had been part of an oncoming dream and had turned over in bed, nestling further under his covers. Then he smelled it.
The smoke.
His eyes snapped open. An unusual orange flickering glow flickered across his dorm room floor through the slight space between his door and the floor. He sat up in bed, still waking up, his heart already pounding. He could hear students in the corridor, panicked voices shouting for water or something anything to douse the flames.
Fire. His mind helpfully supplied.
Fully awake, Cheslock kicked off his blankets and pulled on his uniform. The fabric was thicker, it'd protect him better. The handle to his dorm was hot. Bruning. He wrapped the tail of his jacket around it and threw it open. Immediately, his senses were assaulted by smoke and heat and light. Crackling of the hardwood floors burning, students screaming.
Fix this, fix this! fix this. Cheslock's brain chanted as its cogs clicked into a workable plan.
'OUT!' He yelled to the boys down the corridor, trying to battle the flames. 'GET OUT FIRST!'
'Fuck. Fuckfuckfuck.' He muttered to himself as he took about five steps back into his room. With one final deep breath of relatively smokeless air, he sprinted forwards and launched himself into a running jump over the fire.
Landing safely, he grabbed the last boy leaving's arm. 'Tell me everyone in those rooms got out.' Cheslock pointed to the two rooms opposite his, with the burning doors.
'They were in the common area!'
'Good. Get as many people out as you can. Find your friends, your classmates, anyone you know. We've drilled for this.' He ordered, having to shout over the noise of the fire. He released the boy's arm and pushed him towards the staircase.
'What about Violet? I haven't seen him anywhere—' Cheslock cut him off. 'I'll find him. Get. Everyone. Out.'
'But—'
'Fucking go! I know I may not be a prefect but you know better than to not listen right now. Get the fuck out of this building.' Cheslock shoved the boy in the back, sending him stumbling forwards.
Where's Gregory? In his room?
Cheslock jogged forwards, glancing back at the other end of the corridor. The flames were gaining ground. He didn't pause to wonder how his mind could be so clear, why he felt truly efficient, useful, for the first time in forever as he reeled back and sent a hard kick to Violet's dorm's door, right next to the handle. It gave way, swinging open to reveal Gregory sitting at his desk.
'What the fuck are you doing? We're on fire get UP!' Cheslock yelled. Violet had the audacity to look up from his papers with a tired expression.
'Why are you not panicking?' Cheslock strode over and grabbed Violet's arm, pulling him to his feet and dragging him out the door and down the stairs.
He left his prefect at the door of the dorm and ran back, eyes squinted against the smoke to look for any stragglers. He found none.
Cheslock ended up standing with the other members of his house, watching their home burn. Part of the roof caved in and in the echo of the crash his heart fell. It felt like a gaping sinkhole had opened under his feet, dragging him straight into the entrails of Tartarus.
My violin.
A tight ring of barbed wire wrapped itself around his throat. People yelled around him, organizing a water-chain to put out the fire. The adrenaline had worn off. Cheslock noticed he was shaking. He held out his hands in front of him and watched them tremble. The fingertips of his left hand, the ones he had touched the doornob with were smooth and shiny and starting to redden. Or was that just the reflection of his home going up in flames?
The thought: Things like this don't happen out of nowhere. popped into his head, not unwelcome. It filled him with what he could only describe as a boiling rage. His hands tightened into fists, digging his blunt painted fingernails into his palms and creating little half-moon shaped marks as well as a dull pain.
'You'll fucking pay for this.'
