so im sure everyones fully well aware of the magic 8 ball site fob is using to promote a contest to win some tickets to see them in nashville. the little 8ball widget theyve got in browser is also modeled on the physical 8ball that they had in the vip merch packages for tourdust's first leg, which is cool! but of particular note is the way that, to fill out the contest form, you have to pick your favorite fall out boy songs. and the sheer breadth of what is allowed is...interesting? it's not cohesive by any means, but it is really wild the selection of songs they have here because not all of them are fob songs. in fact, quite a few of them aren't.
i went directly to the source code and got a full list of all possible songs that you could input (which you can check for yourself by right-clicking and selecting "view source"). i'm going to list them here for archival purposes, with a few notes/explanations cause some of these are WILD.
there are 187 songs total listed.
bolded songs indicate songs that are demos or never received an official release
italicized songs are songs by other bands
underlined songs indicate songs that are covers
songs with an asterisk beside them (*) indicate they are from patrick's solo catalogue. two asterisks (**) are for pete's.
additional commentary by me will be [in brackets]
20 Dollar Nose Bleed 27 7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen) 7-9 Legendary A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me" A Nice Myth [one of the earliest fall out boy demos, found on their first ep, and only the casette version at that] Allie* Alone Together Alpha Dog America's Suitehearts American Beauty/American Psycho (song) American Made Art of Keeping Up Disappearances As Long as I Know I'm Getting Paid* Austin, We Have a Problem Baby Annihilation Bad Side of 25* Bang the Doldrums Beat It Big Hype* Bishops Knife Trick Bob Dylan Bounce [this is a song that came out on then-Decaydance labelmates The Cab's debut record, Whisper War, which patrick produced. he has writing credit and also is credited with background vocals (and also shows up in the music video)] Caffeine Cold Calm Before the Storm Centuries Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends Champion Check Your Phone** Chicago is So Two Years Ago Church City in a Garden Coast (It's Gonna Get Better)* Coffee's for Closers Cryptozoology* Cute Girls* Cyanide** [this is a nothing, nowhere song that pete did some spoken word parts and backing vocals on] Dance Miserable* Dance, Dance Dead on Arrival Dear Future Self (Hands Up) Death Valley Deep Blue Love* [song patrick did for the indie short film "spell"] Demigods Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes Don't You Know Who I Think I Am? Electric Touch [the (in?)famous taylor swift song patrick featured on] Eternal Summer Everybody Wants Somebody* Explode* Fake Out Fame Less than Infamy Favorite Record Fellowship of the Nerd [this is an alternate title for world's not waiting, as far as i can tell] Flu Game Flu Game [yes flu game is listed twice for some reason] Footprints in the Snow [demo from the Llamania ep] Fourth of July From Now on We Are Enemies G.I.N.A.S.F.S. Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows) Ghostbusters (I'm Not Afraid) Golden Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy Greed* Grenade Jumper Grow Up and Be Kids [this song is on The Cab's sophomore album Symphony Soldier, which release after they left decaydance. nonetheless, pete does have some writing credits on it. give it a listen and you'll hear for yourself in the first 10 seconds or so] Growing Up Hand Crushed by a Mallet [this is a remix of the 100gecs song of the same name; patrick did some vocals for it] Hand of God Have I Got a Gift for You* [song patrick did for the horror movie black friday] Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet Heartbreak Feels So Good Heaven's Gate Heaven, Iowa Hold Me Like a Grudge Hold Me Tight or Don't Homesick at Space Camp Honorable Mention Hot to the Touch, Cold on the Inside Hum Hallelujah I Am My Own Muse I Don't Care
I Got Nothing, But You Got Something [this is the one that really perplexes me. there's no evidence of this song actually existing, other than an unverified genius post and an article on a single fandom wiki. it is inexplicably listed here despite its very existence being questionable at best.]
I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me & You) I've Been Waiting [this is technically a lil peep song with fall out boy as a feature] I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song) I've Got All This Ringing in My Ears and None on My Fingers Immortals Irresistible It's Hard to Say 'I Do', When I Don't It's Not a Side Effect of the Cocaine, I Am Thinking It Must Be Love Jet Pack Blues Just One Yesterday Lake Effect Kid (song) Lake Shore Drive [this is a song patrick covered on the piano at wrigley, first night of tourdust] Love from the Other Side Love Will Tear Us Apart Love, Selfish Love* Love, Sex, Death Lullabye Mad at Nothing* Miss Missing You Moving Pictures My Heart Is the Worst Kind of Weapon My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up) New Dreams [this is a bonus track on pax am days, a naked rayguns cover] Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner Novocaine Of All the Gin Joints in All the World One of Those Nights [another song from the cab's whisper war. this one has patrick doing vocals very prominently] Open Happiness [this was a huge collaborative piece done for a coca cola commercial. patrick was on it along with big names like cee lo green, janelle monae, and labelmates travie mccoy and brendon urie] Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued Parker Lewis Can't Lose (But I'm Gonna Give It My Best Shot) Past Life [llamania ep] Pavlove People Never Done a Good Thing* Porcelain* Pretty in Punk Rat a Tat Reinventing the Wheel to Run Myself Over Roxanne Run Dry (X Heart X Fingers)* San Diego [this is a blink-182 song that patrick did some writing for] Saturday Saturday Night Again* Save Rock and Roll (song) Sending Postcards from a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here) She's My Winona Short, Fast, and Loud Snitches and Talkers Get Stitches and Walkers So Good Right Now So Much (For) Stardust (song) So Sick [this is a song patrick has exclusively covered live, so it's a fascinating inclusion] Sober [another blink-182 song patrick did some writing for] Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year Star 67 Stay Frosty Royal Milk Tea Sugar, We're Goin Down Summer Days (song) [this is a martin garrix song patrick lent some vocals to] Sunshine Riptide Super Fade Switchblades and Infidelity Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today The "I" In Lie* The (After) Life of the Party The (Shipped) Gold Standard The Carpal Tunnel of Love The Kids Aren't Alright The Kintsugi Kid (Ten Years) The Last of the Real Ones The Mighty Fall The Music or the Misery The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes The Phoenix The Pink Seashell The Pros and Cons of Breathing The Take Over, the Breaks Over The World's Not Waiting (For Five Tired Boys in a Broken Down Van) This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race This City* Thnks fr th Mmrs (song) [for some reason the site specifies song here, despite that not being necessary. the only other times this distinction is relevant is when songs share a title with their albums, i.e. save rock and roll] Thriller Tiffany Blews Twin Skeleton's (Hotel in NYC) Uma Thurman Untitled 1 (Colorado Song) Untitled 2 (Jakus Song) [both of these are recently released tttyg era demos] W.A.M.S. We Didn't Start the Fire We Don’t Take Hits, We Write Them [this is a song that famously was only ever performed live. we don't have a studio recording or even a demo, as only live versions exist] We Were Doomed from the Start (The King is Dead) West Coast Smoker What a Catch, Donnie What a Time To Be Alive What's This? When I Made You Cry* Where Did the Party Go Wilson (Expensive Mistakes) Wrong Side of Paradise [llamania ep] XO You're Crashing, But You're No Wave Young and Menace Young Volcanoes Yule Shoot Your Eye Out
in conclusion i have no idea who compiled this list. it doesn't include every song patrick and pete have ever touched (notice the lack of gym class heroes, cobra starship, and hush sound discography) but it has a really weird selection of songs. i mean, blink songs patrick wrote on?? its bizarre.
anyway do you think if we mass request swing me by the rafters they'll have to do it
#fall out boy#tourdust#*making poasts#trying to format this conventionally BROKE THE POST so i did my best#i burned my grilt cheese typing all this up pls appreciate it#the weird break in the middle is cause otherwise it wouldnt post. mea culpa.

Thoughts on the Attack on Titan Musical
tl:dr; It's been two weeks but I am still not over it.
When I posted the photo of myself holding the playbill of the Attack on Titan musical the most common reaction was "WHAT???", so I guess some background might be good to start with.
Yes, the Attack on Musical is a thing. It was first performed in Japan in January 2023 with shows in Osaka and Tokyo. When it was announced that a second run of the musical would include New York City, I pounced on tickets.
See, it's real! This is my video of the closing number. We were allowed to record this.
The New York run was at the New York City Center which seats about 2200 people. There were a total of 4 shows the weekend of Oct 12. I attended the Saturday matinee. The style of this production is known 2.5D, and is incredibly popular in Japan. I did some checking and this is the first time a 2.5D anime adaptation has appeared outside of Asia. Did Attack on Titan work as a musical?
Surprisingly yes, although I think anyone who wandered in off the streets would've been thoroughly confused. The themes that attracted most of us to the series translate wonderfully to the stage, and despite knowing the story well, they managed to make it feel fresh. Carla's death, for instance. When she realized she was trapped and facing certain death, her song to Eren and Mikasa was a children's lullaby about survival. That portion of the manga always hit me hard, but the desperation, horror and love set to a lullaby? Damn it musical, you made me cry.
The original scene of Hange leading a Titan Biology class might be my favorite of the entire show. The actor who played Hange was the perfect amount of unhinged and delightful as they dance across the table while the 104th answered a pop quiz. (And yes to "they" since the playbill specifically mentions that the actor in the role was known for her portrayal of nonbinary characters.) It was genuinely hilarious.
The musical covers the first 11 chapters of the manga, stopping in the "Struggle for Trost" arc, where the plan for Eren to plug the hole in the wall was conceived but not yet executed. I remember reading that portion of the manga years ago and feeling that same sense of optimism. So the musical ends on a high. Humans finally have a way to win against the titans, It felt like a strange place to end, knowing what ultimately happens in the story, so I wondered if the intention is for a part 2 musical adaptation.
(btw, the staging of "can you plug the hole" had Eren and Levi kneeling closely on the floor together with a manly shoulder clasp looking earnestly at each other. It had me looking at my very ereri friend with raised eyebrows. It was for sure her favorite moment.) What was the performance like?
The short run 2.5D musicals don't have the polish or production budget of a true broadway musical, but it was still wildly entertaining. Since the director is known for breakdance and hiphop, there was plenty of that. The dance numbers were fun. The songs were catchy.
Rather than try to describe it, here's a TikTok review that shows off the 3dmg, the titans, and that two minute head spin that no one could shut up about.
instagram
Also, the cast could not have been for perfect. I mean LOOK AT THEM!
From this tweet
Who was in attendance?
As I mentioned before, this was a first in many ways so it attracted people from all over the world. While I was opening my blind box items, I met a group older women from Japan who'd travelled to New York from Tokyo and had purchased tickets to every single NY performance. Their English wasn't great, and my Japanese is nonexistent, but what surprised me the most wasn't their dedication to the show, but that they seemed genuinely surprised to see me. I don't know if that was because I too am an older fan like them, or if they weren't expecting equally passionate westerners at the show but I tend to think it was both. I suspect the Japanese fandom has no idea how big this series is outside of Japan, or that it attracts such a diverse audience.
My podcast partner Luna was sitting next to two women who'd flown in from California. They knew nothing about Attack on Titan but were fans of the actor who played Eren. Since it was his first time performing outside of Japan, they came solely to see him.
On my flight home was a 22 year old wearing an Attack on Titan musical t-shirt. We started talking and I learned it was his first time in New York, his first time seeing a broadway musical, and his first time traveling alone. He just loves the series that much.
In general the audience was much younger than what you'd normally see at a broadway show and 100% more excited. Plenty of people were in cosplay or else wearing Attack on Titan clothing. The atmosphere was insane.
My merch haul
The mug and t-shirt sold out before the second show so I was glad I was there early to snag them. The playbill is selling on Mercari for almost $50. Sadly my poster didn't survive the trip home. It cracked in about 50 places.
Did you do anything else in NYC
Aside from hanging out with so many of my favorite people, the Kodansha Popup House was going on. It was incredibly cool.
We met up with James from the Titan Teatime podcast. I think the plan is do a joint podcast in a few weeks to get everyone's thoughts . I'll post more about that if it actually happens.
Final Thoughts
Rumor has it that the show's successful New York run could mean it will branch out further. If it goes to London, nothing will stop me from being there. It was that much fun, and I can't wait to share the experience with my European friends.

begging. crying. gnawing at my damn cage bars. modern university au zuko blurbs or headcannons. sis please.. crumbs at least im literally burning
-🍃
❴ 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐍 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐀𝐔 𝐙𝐔𝐊𝐎 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍𝐒 / 2000s ❵
﹒︴Zuko went to college on behalf of his father’s expectations, he and Azula went to two different schools in completely different countries based on how he treated them. His son ended up at a nice university, but not as prestigious as the one he sent his daughter off to.
﹒︴His alt phase had begun back in late high school, him slowly growing into the fashion and experimenting in the worst, more overly dramatic outfits and makeup ever. He looked ridiculous for a time until he finally found the style that he thought suited him best in his senior year.
﹒︴He shared an apartment with both Aang and Sokka in a complex right by the main part of the school. His room consists of horror movie tapestries, band posters, signed vinyls, and his guitar hanging up on the wall with his aux on the ground next to it. It’s the ultimate room for anyone in the alternative scene.
﹒︴Building from the last paragraph, Zuko loves to play his electric guitar, it’s a coping mechanism for his fluctuating mood swings. Growing up, he had a hard time regulating his emotions and would often get in serious trouble for it, so instead of acting on how he feels, he can express it through something harmless like striking certain notes on the instrument. His neighbors definitely hate him for constantly blasting the sounds from the guitar on the aux.
﹒︴He has a plethora of different piercings which are mostly on his face, a smiley, eyebrow piercings, a septum, a dermal, a vertical labret, snake bites, a tongue piercing, multiple ear piercings, and a prince albert pierc- [GUNSHOTS]
﹒︴Along with piercings, he has a lot of tattoos, both forearms fully done. And some other smaller pieces on his abdomen, back, and fingers.
﹒︴Zuko can’t keep scissors out of his damn hair, and he’s constantly dying his hair black every time he can. He keeps his hair short as hell, creating a suffocating biohazard from the amount of hairspray and flat iron smoke without much heat protectant. You know, him actively cooking his hair alive? Yeah. Think Trent Lane from daria type of hairstyle.
﹒︴Honestly Zuko loves all types of music, except country, and will try anything as long as he thinks it sounds good. But his ultimate favorite genres are nu-metal and emo/alternative. He likes bands like slipknot, korn, system of a down, evanescence, deftones, lacuna coil, kittie, limp bizkit, my chemical romance, three days grace, bullet for my valentine, mortician, panic at the disco, and the list goes on.
﹒︴A myspace whore…No but seriously, his myspace would be so detailed and intricate for no reason at all. And you know his ass changes the songs every day. He usually posted stupid clips of him, sokka and aang at the skatepark, the skits that they make, his makeup/hair routine for those curious, and other videos of all kinds.
﹒︴Had an obsession with lucky charms cereal when he had no money to go to the school restaurants.
﹒︴Also loves watching adult swim, favorite show happens to be robot chicken.
﹒︴He smokes a lot of fucking weed, like he loves getting high with the other two boys and on the occasions when he has a girl, then he would love to get high with you.
﹒︴Has this weird ass party trick where he can spit out soda/liquor from out his snake bite openings. Doesn’t do it often since it gets infected and the infection is the worst.
﹒︴The boys often throw parties in the apartment which a lot of people go to, Zuko isn’t the life of the party but he definitely needs time to grow comfortable, happens whenever he’s intoxicated in some type of way.
﹒︴Zuko meets you as a freshman at the college he’s going to, and you two happen to share a class together first thing in the morning. In the middle of the lecture he comes into the classroom pretty late in a bunch of thrown on clothes and he looked sleepy as hell. No bag, no supplies, just himself and a singular notebook. He sat next to you towards the back of the classroom, because you by chance sat in a seat that was next to his usual spot. He plopped himself in his seat and immediately let his head fall on the table
﹒︴His first ever words to you were when he needed to actually take some notes and he shifted his head towards you to ask groggily if you had a pencil he could borrow. And of course you gave him one, it’s such a minor moment but it was a generous one.
﹒︴This continues for a while whenever he would be too tired from a party the night before to properly prepare for class, you would share stuff together. And whenever he would accidentally leave without giving it back he would humbly return it back to you at your own apartment, from which you told him where it was.
﹒︴He isn’t on his phone often, he was more of a laptop kind of guy, if you happened to have myspace then yeah he would definitely text you so much more. If you wanted to.
﹒︴Zuko texts with so many acronyms and shortened words, for example, “hey wsp?” or “c u tmr” Kinda dry to be honest, unless you like talking about music and fashion, then the conversations would be so much more interesting. He also sends you party invites since he thinks you’re that cool.
﹒︴He loves taking naps in between classes with his narcoleptic ass.
﹒︴Really loves to thrift, he’s one of those guys you gotta watch out for at the thrift stores unless you wanna see him take all the good stuff.
﹒︴Constantly stacking up on tons of petty pieces of jewelry of all kinds like rings, earrings, necklaces, chains, etc.
﹒︴Likes to rip off the sleeves of crusty old band tees he found at the thrift stores to add to the crunchy look of them, he likes when they look like they’ve been through hell and back.
﹒︴He goes to illegal car meets sometimes with Sokka and Aang. Zuko’s really good at driving, and knows how to drift, do donuts, burnouts, and then he usually rides out of there before the cops arrive at the scene. Has had to get his car fixed up multiple times because of recklessly driving away from police, most of which he has had Sokka do if it wasn’t anything serious.
﹒︴If he’s dating you, he loves taking you out on late night drives to get away from the party. You two have the time of your lives blasting music and riding around with the windows down.
﹒︴He absolutely adores it when you kiss him on the lips and whatever you have on (lipstick, lipgloss, stain, liner) gets on his own lips. Zuko will definitely walk around with it on and not wipe it off until he goes to wash all of his makeup off
﹒︴He talks about would love to have kids one day, despite being all rowdy now, after college he will in fact get serious enough to raise some kids of his own. Zuko often held off on the idea because he wants to get in his right mind first and get an income coming in so that they’re comfortable.
﹒︴Zuko in this au has bipolar disorder, so don’t take offense if he switches mood or changes his mind on you. It can be very inconvenient at times but he’s trying to get better without relying on medication. It seems like one minute he’s completely comfortable talking to you, and the next moment his anxiety can render him speechless unless you speak up first.
﹒︴His grades are decent, since this is in fact college and he needs to further his knowledge on economics and business in general if he plans on taking over the family business. He’s not really good at turning shit in on time, a professional procrastinator on homework.
﹒︴Has a massive cologne collection, the best ones too so if anyone ever needs any to smell amazing, ask him.
﹒︴His room is often a mess of clothes on the ground, being the fashion freak he is, his ass is digging through the articles of clothing he has and forgets to clean up before he leaves out. Ends up not cleaning it up until he has literally nothing else to do, or if someone comes over.
﹒︴Absolutely hates doing dishes and is constantly buying paper plates, cups, plastic utensils, etc.
﹒︴Constantly taking fit pics with those digital cameras. Possibly created mirror selfies.
﹒︴Has so many fucking bb belts it’s genuine insanity how he just collects them.
﹒︴Iroh thought he always looked so silly with his style, like in a funny way. Why is he wearing multiple belts? Why does he purposely ruin his makeup? What happened to the sleeves on his shirts? You know in a curious parent kind of way.
﹒︴Is the type to create an entire song about you on his guitar since he just loves you so much. More of an instrumental rather than a complete song with lyrics because he’s not too big on singing.
﹒︴Despite listening to the obvious metal/alt music, he listens to a lot of the songs his mother constantly sang when she had the time to, like Teena Marie’s “Out on a limb” or Sade’s “The sweetest taboo.” It resurfaces the memories of his mother singing her heart out to them like she was performing for an audience, and he always remembered her having the most beautiful singing voice he’d ever heard. It brings him comfort when he really misses his mom sometimes.

Watching anything, not just a movie, but a tv show, an anime, a short, a music video, literally anything, is an experience.
Each one unique and requiring at least a whole five minutes of commentary.
He's the kind of guy who feels like his life changed completely after viewing a certain product. He will gen into it so much, from the possible lore or original material, the music, the character takes and analysis from twitter users. He's probably one of them
It's so funny actually because you can pretty much guess what mood he's in by the type of thing he recommends watching. A sad movie? He's in his feels and probably lowkey needs a good cry. A fun anime? He wants to have fun and not pay too much attention, probably just relax.
A horror movie? He either wants to try and scare you and then act like the knight in shining armor (he's actually shitting himself too, trust)
"Shit! They just did a jumpscare, I didn't expect one two seconds later!" a couple of popcorns jumping out of the bowl.
"Oh no did that ugly nun scare my princess?" he wraps your shoulders with his arm, voice comically condescending, "Does she want a kiss to make it better?"
"Don't even try it, Sung. I saw you jump too, loser"
A thriller or dramatic movie? Probably feels the need to overthink something other than his life, and most likely have a nice, interesting conversation.
He's also quite strict with seeing new episodes from a series he hasn't seen before. He doesn't like to watch stuff in your presence unless you are also watching them. He much prefers your company anyway, feels also a bit disrespectful and in general he probably wants to focus on the plot.
He's usually pretty silent and concentrated but if it's a rewatch or he's purposefully showing you something he just yaps. So much. He NEEDS you to feel things as he felt them, you know?
"Baby, there! Did you see that shot? It's so fucking genius actually, will be so important for the plot later on"
"Don't spoil!" you exclaim, annoyed.
"Yah, I didn't spoil, I just commented on how good the shot was!" he defended, as you rolled your eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. Shush."
But it's actually stronger than him, I fear.
"The composer using that bit of music during that scene..I know what they're doing"
"How can you hate someone so much but also enjoy their presence at the same time? Such good acting"
But don't get me wrong! He loves to hear you yap just as much. He's actually so in awe, looking at you with those big round eyes and an amused smile.
"Am I talking too much? Ah, sorry baby" you chuckle embarrassed as you catch yourself basically covering the audio of the movie.
He shakes his head with a smile, still with those adoring eyes. Like you could do no wrong, ever.
"No, my baby. You could be literally reading a cooking book, I don't care. You look too pretty."
But when you've both seen the movie/series in question and it's NOT a sad one...it's over. You both know damn well it's just part of the game foreplay at that point.
"Honey, how about we just chill and rewatch this? It was fun last time"
And just like last time, this time was indeed fun, since the movie was left on his own to the end credits as you were blowing each other's backs out.
It's a given at that point, I don't make the rules

✦ Lost in Limbo Devlog #11 | 05.08.24
AHA! Nope, we didn't forget about April's devlog. In fact, we have been busier than ever—doing early preparations for our Kickstarter, working on the demo, sorting out legal stuff...
Speaking of which...
This month we have been really busy making our studio official by the law! Now, to pay taxes and cry! YAY!
We are very very excited about it—and also terrified! We are still sorting out the studio's bank account, as burocracy isn't the fastest thing in this world, sadly. This is the first thing I wanted to talk about in this devlog, because it's such fantastic news for us! :')
Now, let's jump on the process we've made this past month, shall we? ✨
This past month, Raquel worked very hard on our second Key Art. This was originally made for Steam, but I modified the format a bit so it could also be used in other places! I honestly love this one—we have our first Key Art to represent the darker aspects of the game, and then this one to show off the characters' dynamics! Not everything's going to be horror and mystery in the game!✨💜
Also, we have been working on designing the merch for the Kickstarter, but we can't show anything yet. All we can say is that everything is looking gorgeous and we are so excited to share it eventually!
Thanks to Airyn, we've made great progress with the backgrounds! In fact, there's only one left to finish. The one you see above needs a few final touches (that will be made by yours truly!), and then I'll animate it a bit to get it ready for the build! The rest of the backgrounds are finished, animated, and integrated in the build :3
The survey icon is missing, but it'll be there!
Well, this should tell you everything you need to know when it comes to programming! The whole demo is programmed. Functional. Nothing crashes. Stuff works and I'm over cloud nine. I have been working on the final touches (revisiting scenes, checking sprites, music / sfx volume...) and the beta testing phase will begin soon. Soon as in tomorrow.
We've mainly used this month to review the auditions we received for our casting call, contacting the selected VAs, etc. Every VA has accepted their role, received the document with the lines we'll need for the demo, and we'll work hard to announce the cast publicly as soon as possible! We want to at least do a promotional short video showcasing every LI and their VA!
Sadly, making the studio official has (and will) take more time than we anticipated, and as we want to release the demo on Steam, the review process will most likely slow us down. There's the option of doing an itchio release and then a Steam one, but I'm not sure if that'll hurt the project. We are still keeping the demo release date a secret, until things settle down!
Also, I couldn't finish this devlog without talking about the Magic & Mystery Otome cross-promotion! ✨ We were invited by the amazing folks at Best Laid Plans Studios to participate in this event that showcases 12 amazing visual novels like Alaris, Obscura, Dual Chroma and more! I know I have been pretty annoying with this (can you blame me, though?!) so I won't keep rambling about it—just check everyone out, please!
I think that's all! Well, that's not all, but we gotta keep a bit of mystery surrounding the demo! We have been busy bees this month, with the making of the studio, the polishing of the demo, contacting and coordinating the VAs...
We are so excited for the demo release. I'm personally excited and terrified, but blame it on the OCD. I keep jumping from catastrophic scenario to catastrophic scenario. I'll have no control over what happens when the demo goes live, but I have control on what I can do before that happens—and that's working as hard as I've been doing this whole time.
And that's it! Please take care, enjoy the week, and stay hydrated. The Raventar team, NOW AN OFFICIAL STUDIO, wishes you all the best and sends a huge hug your way! 💜

Unsolicited tma rant no one asked for:
I’ve been thinking a bit about exactly what makes me like the Magnus archives so much, cause I’m not really into horror anthology. Yeah, it’s a good aspect of the genre, but it’s never really caught my interest that much. And I consider myself a fan of horror, but I don’t actually like that many horror movies that much. I like it as a genre, and watching video essays about it, about how different horror affects us, that sort of thing. Horror doesn’t even make me scared usually. I’ll flinch at jump scares of course, but it’s pretty rare that I’m watching a horror movie and be genuinely afraid of the murderer or demon or whatever’s on screen.
Tma even took me a while to get into. I started it maybe in October or November? And it took me until January to get even a dozen episodes in. It was good, but I was really just waiting until it got to the good bits that made everyone love it so much. I knew there was some sort of meta plot, and had a cannon gay ship, that was all I knew when I started, and the reason I kept on with it. I hate to say it, but if I didn’t know even that, I don’t think I would have listened to more than a couple episodes, because short self contained stories isn’t what I’m interested in. Especially when there’s a magic Latin book and a coffin with knocking (I thought it would be a vampire or something) or some weird thing luring people into alleys to kill them. I took those early episodes to be generic devil worship sort of horror, that the weird details were added in just to add to the spook. That’s something that tends to bother me with horror movies, when there’s all this dark magic just for the sake of dark magic, and ends with this big question or realization that can’t be solved. And I do understand ending movies with something the audience can’t understand, because the mystery and strangeness can add to the horror. But I really dislike this, I’m all cool with hard or impossible to understand endings, don’t get me wrong, but when there’s no way to theorize, no dots to start connecting, I find that really frustrating. A good example (I can’t find what movie it is, so if someone know lmk) is a movie with the classic family moves into large old house, creepy basement, with satanic sort of imagery. I did actually like most of it, the stairs to the basement were normal, until there was a ball knocked down them when the light was off, and you could hear it keep going far longer than the actual staircase was. That these stairs kept going for who knows how long when the light is off. What I didn’t like was the end, where we got to see what was at the bottom of these endless stairs, and there’s long lines of people in this void, just standing there. But there was no explanation for this, no way to start theorizing as to what this could be, why it happens.
This is what I thought TMA was gonna be. Each episode never really ended with an explanation, or a way to theorize (early on) and I thought it would stay that way. I remember in January I was finally listening to more on a plane ride, and got to ep22, Martin’s statement about Jane Prentiss. It wasn’t even this specific episode that got me interested, not fully. I did like the worms, description of Jane prentiss, all that but it was when I kinda realized there was something to theorize about, that there was actually something going on behind the scenes. And it kept me listening. It was a bit frustrating how slow the season seemed to go, because I wanted to know what the worms were about, and I admit I rushed through a few episodes, again, thinking they were just filler short stories to break apart the real meat of it. The episode I think that really sealed the deal was strange music, specifically the bit between Sasha and Jon, I wasn’t too interested in creepy clown dolls, but that silly little debate over how to pronounce calliope was honestly charming. Like “oh, these characters aren’t gonna be overdramatized horror movies characters, at least not too much.” Once I got to the season 1 finale I was obsessed and basically finished the rest in two or three weeks (I listened to the last 120 episode in a single week).
And good lord Jonny I am SO SORRY I DOUBTED YOU. Because none of it was creepy books or creepy dolls or weird coffins for the hell of it, you weren’t actually left with no idea of what the ending meant. You just had to listen to Jon as he because paranoid and pulled out the red string, pulling all the pieces together for you until we finally got the big picture. I never once expected the fears, or avatars, or that Robert smirk was anything but a weird architecture, that Jonah Magnus was anything but a stuffy old man who founded the institute. And that’s why I think I love TMA so much, is there really is a big satisfying pay out as a listener, I didn’t even put the dots together myself and it’s still gratifying. The slow realization that these episodes aren’t just horror for the sake of horror, they have a reason, an explanation, and it still manages to keep a level of mystery and unknowability that makes you just always want to know more. Re-listening has been genuinely so fun, because especially with later episodes I’m able to connect those dots, and see the full picture as it unravels. The thing in the dark alley wasn’t targeting smokers to be spooky, it was a monster collecting victims to use in a ritual, and that addiction is part of the web.
So yeah, that was probably really redundant, but I just really love that slow reveal, all the little bits you can connect, and theories you can make. Jonathan Sims forgive me for ever doubting your writing, I see now you’re a genius, please give me your brain, I need it for my own creativity. Thanks for coming to my ted talk

oooh! seeing ewan in that music video gave me some ideas:
this one is going to be extremely unhinged and nsfw but i can see him, still in character, going back to reader and wanting to get extremely intimate with her. reader, who is at the time of the month, initially resisted because she didn't want to weird ewan out but he ends up pulling some sheets and they ended up doing it. it is easier for him to do her while she is on her monthly cycle.
that music video is released while she is ovulating so, for some strange reason, she gets a bit more aggressive in her actions with ewan.
grumpy x sunshine trope: reader loves to wear brightly coloured outfits with florals on and hello kitty slippers while ewan wears extremely dark colours. cue the fans laughing and saying that they are the real life grumpy sunshine. not sure if you are aware of the meme of this cute girl licking an ice-cream at the park with her metal head bf. yeah. that meme.
reader is a classically trained singer and can end up reaching the high notes like it is nothing. because she is invited to sing parts of the song, ewan ends up accepting the job as well. just imagine her singing the high notes while she is being pulled up by some strings. just imagine the look on ewan's face.
reader has done a horror short film and can make unhinged facial expressions as well. fans screenshotted their scenes, put them side by side and said, "i love my parents" or "they match each others' freaks" or "they match each others' energy".
Wow babe. The first two! I'm kinda touching upon them in the upcoming bonus chapter for chemical override. I timed the filming of the music video sometime in mid to late July, so they weren't officially dating yet, but Ewan definitely has his sights on the reader. And it'll show on set.
Then the video is released, at the height of their brief relationship, and yes - you best believe it'll make her just as feral as Martin 🥵 (Ewan may or may not be in character too 👀)
I'm saving the other three as drabble/oneshot ideas! I'm definitely going to be doing one soon 🖤

writeblr interview tag!
Thank you to loves @the-golden-comet and @sableglass for tagging me here and here. I need you know I made a serious effort not to be a sarcastic asshole as I answered these questions... four days ago. And then forgot to post them.
Let's ggo!
Short stories, novels, or poems? I published short stories in a previous life, but I suck at following prompts or instructions and have accepted my fate as a novelist.
What genre do you prefer reading? Horror. I'm in my post-cosmic horror era right now. Existential. Yeah. Although I don't write folk horror myself (I'm thinking Laird Barron, T. Kingfisher, Stephen Graham Jones) I do enjoy folk horror v much. Bonus points if the protagonists are middle-aged and it's not about how apartments/houses or children are scary. (No hate to domestic horror, I'm just not the target audience.)
Are you a planner or a write as I go kind of person? The first draft is me explaining the Situation to myself. If it happens to make even a tiny bit of sense, we're all lucky. Like, that almost never fucking happens. I didn't show Doom Metal Love Story to anyone until the third/fourth draft because any sense it makes came from me rambling at my roommate in the kitchen while high off my ass at ten in the morning last autumn.
I'm a rambler, baby~
What music do you listen to while writing? That depends! Most of the time it's the soundtrack of whatever video game I wish I were playing instead of working LOL. I've always been like this, it's not cute. Sometimes I rotate in a specific heavy metal album I've heard a million times if the vibes aren't right. If I'm really having a good day, it's '80s music.
Favorite books/movies? Yeah man I have some of those!
Favorite book is House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Yes I realize this is a corny and uninspired answer. This book whipped ass when it was published and it whipped ass when I reread it in 2014 and I'm willing to bet money it would whip ass if I reread it in [current year].
Favorite movie is Aliens. The second one. It's the perfect movie. I refuse to acknowledge any film in the series other than Alien and Aliens. Corporal Hicks and Newt are still alive, you sons of bitches.
Any current WIPs? Yes.
If someone were to make a cartoon out of you what would your standard outfit be? A hooded sweatshirt, jeans, no shoes unless I'm out in public. Then it's flip flops. Fingerless gloves if it's chilly and muh arthritis is acting up.
Create a character description of yourself: The smell of pot smoke and the clicking of keystrokes barely penetrates the unopened window. Occasionally, they step out onto the back deck to smoke a cigarette and simultaneously praise and complain about the sun. They might be in their forties. They might own a cat. No one can agree on their height or their gender or whether they actually exist. Can only be contacted through instant message or email. Might be a ghost.
Do you like incorporating actual people you know into your writing? Hell, no LMAO. When I realize I've done it accidentally, I feel like I just got read by a therapist.
Are you kill happy with your characters? I may have killed all three main characters in DMLS multiple times, killed Khalid (from A Living Machine) when he was 12, in front of everybody, and I may intend to kill every character who appears in The Cave Dive, but...
... yeah OK there's something wrong with me.
Coffee or Tea while writing? Coffee all day every day.
Slow or fast writer? I type like someone is threatening to tickle my feet if I stop.
Where/who/what do you draw inspiration from? Uhhhhhhhh...
"OK yeah like that initial idea would be cool and all but make it worse."
If you were in a fantasy world, what would you be?
Most fav book cliche: This author comes from the land of "all cliches suck and should be avoided like the plague."
Least favorite cliche: Like the plague.
Favorite scene to write? Fight scenes. If I can't write a fight scene, let me write a fuck scene.
... why do I not write hockey romances, again?
Reason for writing? I've tried all other legitimate forms of occupation. This is the only one that rewards me for my ability to make shit up and type 40 wpm in first draft mode.
Tag! Usual apologizes for double-tagging go here, Jamie is silly.
@lychhiker-writes @cowboybrunch @finickyfelix @saturnine-saturneight

͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏ ͏͏ ͏ ͏ ͏*˚⁺‧͙˚◌ . . ࣪. EMBERS was a South Korean boy group consisting of the members Inseok, Moon, Hada, Elliot, June, and Kenji under Angelico Entertainment from 2018 to 2020. They originally started as a pre-debut group known as “angelboyz” in 2017, releasing two digital singles, “Wave” and “Illusions,” as well as a physical single, “Fun Timez,” before their official debut in which they would reveal their official name to be Embers. Their debut was highly emancipated due to the success of who was heavily marketed as their “sister” group, Venus.
Embers' debut in 2018 with the mini album “Win It All” featuring the title track “LIT” was a resounding success. It not only captured the attention of international audiences but also laid the foundation for a growing domestic fanbase. Their two other releases in 2018, digital singles “Undercover” and “Killing Me”, especially gained them traction within Korea, further solidifying their global recognition. Though seemingly on the rise, Embers’ promotions would begin to dwindle in 2019, only releasing two more singles “Beautiful” and “JikJin” before they would stop making music for the rest of the year only making public appearances and releasing sparse variety content.
In 2020, the group ceased all promotions when the eldest member, Inseok, was found dead at the bottom of the Angelico parking garage stairwell. His death would be deemed a tragic accident, and the group would disband in that same year.

TW // Mentions of Sexual Assault and Murder.
After their disbandment, the once visual of the group June would disappear from the public eye, allegedly going back to Australia to live a normal life with no signs of life from him since the group’s disbandment.
Moon would leave the idol industry for nearly five years, working as a dance teacher and choreographer until he’d redebut in Angelico’s newest boy group, Twilight, in 2024.
Hada would retire from the idol industry as well but in favor of becoming an actor. While he stayed with Angelico after Embers’ disbandment, he would eventually leave the label in 2022 when his contract expired and is now signed to Cathdrial Company as an actor and model.
Elliot would redebut the same year of the disbandment, debuting in the co-ed group Pushing Daisies who are still active to this day.
Finally, Kenji would also retire from the idol industry, going back to America and getting an education. He now lives a normal life and says he has no want or need to go back to music ever again.
Embers are very rarely ever mentioned when Angelico groups are in discussion. This is chalked up to them not making much impact during their short activity period, but Angelico often tries to pretend they never happened. Most official Embers content can only be accessed through archives, as all their official accounts were deleted in 2021. The only official remaining Embers content is their playlist on the official Angelico channel, where a majority of their variety and behind-the-scenes content has been private. The only watchable videos on the playlist are their music videos and dance practices.
Additionally, the members don’t talk about Embers. The most open member is Hada, but only after he officially left Angelico. When asked about his past as an idol, Hada revealed many of the horrors that went on during Embers.
Embers was a mess not only on the outside but also internally. Bullying was rampant in the group, the primary bullies being June and Inseok, who would target Moon and Kenji. It was revealed that Elliot didn’t really live in the dorms and only showed up when he had to, as he didn’t like most of the members. June and Inseok would physically, psychologically, and verbally abuse both Moon and Kenji up until the group’s disbandment.
Unknown to the public, Inseok did not die in a tragic accident but was instead murdered. He was killed by Angelico CEO Son Jinhwa and Rejects members Reid Kim and Aiden Yoon when his involvement in the assault of their groupmate Kubo Miyu was discovered. Though Inseok did not directly assault Miyu, he would facilitate the assault by drugging her drink. It would be revealed during the confrontation with Inseok that Miyu was not their only victim and there was a whole operation between him, June, soloist Hyunwon, and former Rejects member Sunhee.
The murder of June would take place three days later in an Angelico practice room. Son Jinhwa, Reid Kim, and Aiden Yoon would be involved yet again though Reid would be the one to deliver the final blow that killed June. They would later get rid of his body in the wooded area behind the Angelico dorms.
Embers are often not remembered, which is exactly what Jinhwa wanted. Everything always goes according to plan.

Movie Musical Divas Tournament: Round 3
Susan Sarandon (1946- ): Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) Janet Weiss
"okay okay I can only really think of the one movie musical within the time frame that she’s in. BUT she’s too hot for me to care about that and I hope you agree. I mean I’m sorry she does spend half of rocky horror walking around in a bra and underwear and nothing else and Susan Sarandon did get like pneumonia from being wet and cold for half of filming (rain scenes and no heat on set I think) for us to not say she’s hot enough in it for her to count for this" - anonymous
Eartha Kitt (1927-2008): New Faces (1954, Miss Kitt) | St Louis Blues (1958, Gogo Germaine)
"YES! Even though she faced bewildering amounts of Hollywood racism, the winner of the Hot & Vintage Movie Women Tournament DID manage to do a couple of movie musicals: New Faces, a fluffy backstage-hijinks thing in which she plays her classic chanteuse persona and is even addressed as "Miss Kitt", and St Louis Blues, a musical biopic in which she sings alongside a bunch of other jazz greats. Neither of the films is considered a masterpiece, but Eartha is as scorchingly hot as always, and demonstrates that she could have become a legend in movie musicals if the roles had been there for her. In short, vote for Eartha Kitt because (1) she has JUST ENOUGH credits to count as a movie musical diva, (2) think of all the other Eartha Kitt movie musicals we COULD have had if not for racism, and (3) she's Eartha Kitt, certifiably the hottest old movie woman. Please and thank you." - anonymous

Susan Sarandon:
"Confirmed bisexual Susan Sarandon. Kept her ex-husband's name professionally. Incidentally, her ex Chris Sarandon remarried *the* Joanna Gleason, who also kept her first husband's name professionally. They did a podcast episode together about cooking and I think about these connections a lot." - anonymous

Reactions to the Helluva Boss short #3, after I stopped laughing at the briefing image:
I see Blitz still has the M&M toys he made from the Loo Loo Land episode. What is the "French hog shit" Moxxie is dragging Millie to see?Knowing Viv, that has to be a reference to a specific RL musical. Also, Blitz and Moxxie went to see a musical together without Millie? I love all the little clues that they're getting along better since "Truth Seekers".
Hellaverse videos provide double enjoyment: there's watching them, and then there's hitting pause at random moments to see what bizarre frame you've stopped on this time.
Media shows us killers sneaking up on their victims all the time. But You don't get THIS kind of gleeful atrocity from the big studios. It's like if Maurice Sendak made a horror movie.
Stolas and the target, sighing in unison: Isn't he handsome?
Charlie plush spotted!
Starting to wonder if IMP's client wanted to kill this chick or to send her a present. And while Blitz is absolutely not interested, the intense positive attention has him flustered for a minute. He told her his name!
Wow, she likes pain as much as Stolas does. Blitz, I distinctly remember you warning a past client that they could be stuck in Hell with the victim forever. Do you want her stalking you? (Though I suppose Moxxie still has that blessing-tipped sniper rifle.) Shoulda picked up that pendant before you left. It sounds handy and you don't want the DHORKS discovering the power of anime merch. Called it! Aw, kid, you're cuter when you're dead but he still won't like you. (Wonder what Loona's reading? We haven't seen her with an actual non-grimoire book before.) Okay, this one's my favorite of the shorts so far! Props to Adam Neylan for finally writing cringe humor scenes that I found funny!

bro it took me 10 whole ass days after Halloween to fully watch through martin walls’s new short bc my boyfriend wanted to be there to watch it with me. and yall it is so peak. I really really love how martins art style has evolved, and he still has one of my favorite styles ever tbh. the way the story plays out is really cool too, bc the original mysterious house felt like a PSA, and the horror came from the inevitability of these children’s deaths, but this one felt more like a traditional horror film. it gave a lot more suspense, to feel like there was a chance that at least one of these kids would get out alive!! and it is definitely super scary in a new way, as well. it’s scary like a horror movie, but it also feels scary like a nightmare. Martin is really fantastic at conveying brutality without showing you outright what’s going on. He’s great at twisting and breaking people in ways where you can’t even figure out what happened to them because it’s all a blur, even when it’s happening right in front of you. It gave it a feeling of seeing your first gore video as a kid online, where you know something is very very wrong, but you can’t really process it. Ralph’s kill felt like that. At first I didn’t really take it seriously, because of Lorenzos stupid goofy walk (sorry man). And then he started ripping up this kids face and I was like WHAT THE FUCK. I also love how the kids have these beady little sylvanian family eyes that become weird gross human eyes when they become ghosts. and the sound design and backgrounds were so good!! The house and the Watermans felt HUGE compared to the kids. It really gave them a lot of power that added to the fear. The house itself also felt winding and supernatural, the kind of place that just where you think you can leave, you’re right back where you started. And i can see it was on purpose, so it did the job well. The fuzzy, seemingly diagetic music playing off the TV added a lot to the dreamlike feeling, it made the situation feel even more hectic and close to home. Silence was also utilized very well to emphasise important scenes or scares. I also REALLY enjoy all the little details martin hides in his scenes!! They’re so fun to find!!! Enjoyed how the ending felt very triumphant, but still melancholic. Really really really good short. Go watch it!!

So I will be honest. I was really excited for In A Violent Nature. I went into it blind, which I think is probably the best way to have done it. I was excited to see what it would bring and what kind of scares it would give. I watched it with a friend the day it got uploaded on Shudder. But, I have mixed emotions and overall feel a bit disappointed with a few major parts of the movie. And I'm bored, tired, full of cold-medicine, and haven't slept more than 2 hours in a row for three days so I'm gonna talk about it. This should be obvious, but if it's not, Spoilers Ahead.
First, there were many things I really did like.
the perspective: almost the entire movie is filmed from the perspective of the murderer. As in, we follow him around instead of the victims. It's interesting to me because usually the opening scenes either set up the backstory or introduce the victims to the audience. You could argue "well that's not unusual, it just means the protagonist is the murderer and you were being introduced to him" and that's fair. That's a fair way to look at it. However, even for an introduction to the killer it was done in an unusual way (and I loved that). Throughout a good chunk of the film, the audience has a third person view from behind the killer. It's almost like we're playing a third-person view video game. You don't get to see his face for quite a while. Again, that's not necessarily an unusual perspective, but to have it go on that way for so long through the movie is. The audience gets a very limited interaction with the victims and most of it comes from what we see from the killer's perspective.
the soundtrack (or lack thereof...): this movie had very minimal music during attack scenes. In fact, I think the only murder that really had music during the scene was one where a character was listening to a walk-man. And the music did not give horror vibes, which is always an interesting juxtaposition. This means that every hit, every slice, every squish was loud. Every step in the woods was heard. It was eerie because it was so silent and I just found I really liked the decision to do that.
the lake scene: when one of the girls jumps in the lake and goes for a swim, everyone knows where that is going to end up. I thought it was done in an interesting way. Instead of a lot of splashing, the audience gets her initial fear and then she's pulled under. She resurfaces once, to weakly call for help but is immediately pulled under again. Then her body silently floats to the top. This is one of the few scenes where we aren't watching from over the killer's shoulder. Instead, there's a wide view of an otherwise undisturbed body of water and then her small, short-lived struggle. I thought it was interesting how she never had a chance and how eerily calm everything else was around her. No one else would have heard her. I think it was a very different but effective way of portraying the isolation and hopelessness of the situation.
the yoga murder: this one was more of a "is he gonna go there oh my god oh yup oh wait what the fuck oh shit" kind of a moment for me. That's why I liked it. That's it.
the woodsplitter murder: Idk, I liked the slowness of this one. I always find the deaths where you're forced to watch or wait for your own demise and are helpless to do anything else are some of the most terrifying. And that woodsplitter was old and slow as fuck.
Things I didn't really like:
the face reveal: so we spend a good chunk of this movie either looking over the killer from behind, seeing him in the shadows, or seeing him with a mask on. The point is, his face is obscured. This usually means One of two things: there will be a face reveal that has significance either in revealing who the murderer really is or in scaring the victims, OR there is no face reveal and the audience is left to wonder and imagine. In my opinion, either option would have been fine. And if anyone were to say "it reveals it was Johnny"; no it does not. We knew it was Johnny. Everyone assumed it was Johnny from the beginning because of the way the story was told. A "reveal" would have been if they made it Johnny's father's spirit instead of Johnny's, but they would have had to played that up more in the story. Or if they made us significantly doubt it was Johnny instead of basically saying it was to begin with. The reveal instead was done so anticlimactically and away from the view of protagonists so you lose the value, in my opinion.
the ranger: so I get his point in the story. He was the one to point them in the right direction, to tell them why things were happening and what needed to be done to put things back the way they were. I just didn't really like him and I felt like his character kind of fell flat for me.
Colt's death: listen, I get they were in a tense situation and scared. But who the fuck thinks going up behind an armed murderous vengeful spirit who just brutally destroyed your friends' bodies and fucking yelling at him is a good fucking idea. So yeah, Colt's death pissed me off a little. I did find it a little humourous how Johnny was like "fuck you in particular" and proceeded to fucking hack his face off like it was his day job, but man, it really didn't need to go that way. You could have just kept running away. Like wtf.
the ending: Now, I'm not dumb. I get a few things. Number one, love that we got a final girl, top tier trope. Number two, it was great to see a reference to Texas Chainsaw Massacre with her getting picked up in a truck. Liked the shot where we got closure that Johnny did get his necklace back and went back to sleep because he was comforted by it. Very nice. HOWEVER. Why did we have to listen to some random woman ramble about how her brother was almost torn to shreds by what they assumed was a bear? For god knows how long? Like she just kept rambling about nothing. That type of scene sets a good thing in the beginning because it gives the victims something to blame other than a "mysterious masked murderer" and allows for more suspense. At the end it doesn't have the same effect. I get it was supposed to be that she feels hunted the entire time, even when there's no one there, and that her entire freak-out even when Johnny doesn't show up for the rest of the film is meant to show the lasting effect trauma will have on her. But did it have to be such a long part of the film? because a haunted look through the window, the woman's voice fading into the background, suddenly pulling over, she can have her freak-out, and I think it would give the same message, but waste less of my time. And I do feel that the ending scene kind of wasted my time. I will admit, at first I was curious and kind of waiting for a plot twist or something more, but then I just became frustrated, and after it ended I was annoyed.
That's just my personal thoughts on the movie. If people don't like it they can move along. I don't hate the movie but I was significantly disappointed by the ending and the face reveal in particular.
