Ok, before getting into this, I'm warning y'all, I'm not good at analysis ( I did like 4-5 of them before, that it )

If anything wrong or you don't feel like that what it actually is, feel free to think differently.

This is some...most of my thoughts I pull out of my head then put it on here so... yeah, don't expect a "unable to communicate with other easily" to do much.

My English is a bit bad.

This analysis is long, like...HELL LONG. So pls do make some free time before reading.

Pls accept my sincere apologies, but before getting into the song, can we talk about the...the event story first?

The event that Honeycomb Summer came from is: Heat Haze ◆ Lingering Summer & Hot Limit

And after spending my dia like a rich ass kid just to unlock all the story ( I missed out the event ) and spend some time reading.

The story's mainly focus on Niki and Niki's past from when he first meets Rinne. But aside from that, it also highlights Rinne and Niki relationship.

LIKE, RINNE LITERALLY ASKS HIM FOR MARRIAGE. STOP- I CAN'T

And you maybe think, yeh, he was just joking around. No, no he's not. He did not joke that stuff around.

And I'm not telling you to believe that Rinne wants to marry Niki in a "marriage" way. I like you to know that Rinne's living a different life than other character and the one who is likely to understand it like him is Hiiro.

Who didn't get annoyed when Rinne called Aira his little "girlfriend".

The meaning of marriage is being viewed different here. It not the couple's rings, not the beautiful clothes nor was it about the wedding ceremony.

It's about the two getting to stay together legally, that their home is officially below to both and got admitted by everyone else, and that Rinne loves Niki in a way that he wishes to share the hardship with him.

Clue? IT'S EVERYWHERE in the event story and *talk with a shaky voice* Epilogue 4... Epilogue 4 shines the best out of it.

He, HE LITERALLY SAID: "I tried to tell him that if we got married, we would become family, so there was no need to worry about causing me any trouble. I also tried boosting his self-esteem by making him a popular idol."

"I'm just a hick, but I've done my best..."

Like, Rinne was trying so much to make Niki happy. But Niki's Niki...He's scared that he might cause Rinne trouble so he mostly stays out of it.

From what had happened to Niki dad ( His dad who often gets featured in TV programs got banned from TV stations and was forced to never appear on TV again / from Main story Episode 139 / )

So when trouble comes, Niki always hides it from others until it eventually solves itself or until Niki finds some solution to solve it.

It the same as in Hot Limit story, where Niki stayed: "I'm was afraid that if I became a criminal, I would cause trouble for my dad, who was finally getting back on his feet, and my mom, who supported him all the time."

And yet again in Epilogue 4: "Nahaha, But I don't want to cause trouble for people around me like my dad did before..."

And surprisingly, our song for today~ Honeycomb Summer is not just about Crazy:B, it's about NIKI! And what came into Niki life when he was young? Rinne! So Rinne had a big impact on his life, made this song also talks about Rinne in some way.

Ok, ok, first line, first line:

I think that Niki making fun of Rinne's shirt style, but then the next line went:

"I'm going to make another joke like that"(Rinne line)

And I was like, nah, that didn't click, it gonna be something else.

So, if we return to the story event, I was thinking, ok, so maybe this is about the old time more than the present.

The foolish-looking T-shirt is actually from Niki and he gave it to Rinne and after Rinne wears it on, Niki laughs at how it doesn't fit Rinne at all.

If you don't know, Rinne who ran away from his home at that time got nowhere to go, when he was lying dead on the side of the road, Niki accidentally walked by then decided to adopt him.

So maybe Niki gave him some of his T-shirts then felt how weird those T-shirt were.

"I'm going to make another joke like that"

So, consider the fact that Niki doesn't make that much of a joke in the story, he was trying to get close or wanted to make Rinne feel more comfortable by cracking up some weird joke that no one could laugh at. Since he don't usually do that, he's not that good at it, but still trying his best for the little confusing Rinne.

"I'm sorry I let my true feelings get in the way" (Niki line)

"I was just regretting it" (Rinne line)

Niki don't want to cause trouble for others, so "Sorry I let my true feelings get in the way" shows how much Niki wishes to hide himself in, hide what he desires the most because he is scared that "following his heart" may cause other people around him to stuck into his stuff and that might trouble them.

With that came the story event, the same day when Niki brought Rinne back to his home, Niki later on collapsed because he didn't eat properly, Rinne panicked, and ran out of the house, begging the neighbor for some food.

When Niki woke up, he found food, a lot of them. But when Rinne said that he "rod" them, Niki was dumbfounded, thought he really did such things until Niki asked the other and found out that Rinne was actually insincere about it.

Thinking that Rinne was a bad person until Niki got to know the whole story did he finally go soft on him. Realize that Rinne is a good person and feel the want to keep him around.

"I'm sorry for picking you up just because I hope that I'm not a bad person and left you there on the street, and now I'm regretting it. You deserve a place to live in. And maybe mine isn't the best, but this is all I have."

"With a shy look on your face. You're just trying to fool me" "Isn't that just pulling us apart? The distance between us" (Kohaku & HIMERU)

"(WHAT GOING ON?)"(All)

Remind you about the fact that Niki is quite aloof.

Don't really get along with other friends (did he even have any friend at that time?)

So having some stranger staying in his house is not a good thing for him. Both are having communication problems so who will be the first to open up now?

And with Rinne ruthless way of talking, it was hard for the inexperienced Niki to understand him without misunderstanding it.

But Niki still hold onto the kindness in Rinne heart, knowing that Rinne wasn't actually THAT MEAN. Though the way he talks is like he wants to push Niki away.

(Note: The translation in-game was like this: "In an attempt to get away with it, but that will only push us apart. And widen the distance between you and me." )

Niki was panicked: "What should I do? What should I say? How do I treat him in his needs? Food! Maybe Food! He liked my food so-!"

He didn't know what do to, and neither did Rinne.

Niki sometimes regretted letting him in, but at the same time, he felt relief for giving him a home and didn't let his body rot on the side of the street.

"I don't want to make a bad play"

"And don't want to be a bad actor"

From these 2 lines, it not about Niki, this captures more of Rinne characteristics as we all know, he acts like a mean, harsh person but at heart, he just wants the best for everyone.

And he was trying to "play it cool" here, just like the time he asked for food from the neighbor for Niki. He displays himself as a flawless, perfect being but inside he's just as pathetic as everyone else.

He didn't want anyone to find out about this, not even Niki, who was the only person he could rely on.

What happen if Niki found out that he was faking it? He may be a monarch but he's nothing but a helpless human in the big city.

He's smart and is the best human being around, yet is all but the way he wants people to look at him. He can't help it, he was being raised to become a monarch, to be brave yet alone.

The king who stands alone, sees nothing but the darkness. Then got confused when a stranger that he couldn't push away came into his life.

Niki gave him food, gave him a place, he's not the king! He's a small little human being who loves idol and the new world that shine bright like the sun.

With what Niki gave him, Rinne want nothing more but happiness for Niki. ( This had been showed in the story event, like, dam...I'm in tear)

"NO MORE, SO HOT" (All)

(Note: This is the first line that brought up the heat. The summer heat, yes, is also an element in their story as Niki meets Rinne in the summer.)

"So why don't you just..." (Kohaku & Niki) "Take it off."(All)

There are 2 meanings in these lines:

Firstly, the real meaning. It is hot, and they want to take off their close. Like, literally. Because the word "nugi" in the second line "Nugi sutereba ii ya" is this "脱ぎ" and it alone means: "Take off your clothes".

Secondly, "take it off" also mean "become naked". And no, I'm not saying naked the other way, is the mental way. Being naked is being all out, no more hiding, be yourself, and telling the truth, never the lies. It may be embarrassing as much as you're naked in a physical way because us human don't always speak what we thinks.

And who hide their real self a lot? Rinne.

Niki may not always do as he likes, but he never acts highly to hide his true self. BUT Ya know who is? Rinne, Rinne, Rinne~!

"And reveal everything" (HIMERU line)

Now, I want you to imagine the summer heat. Like, you are lying in your room, trying to find every way to defeat this heat that burns you from top to bottom.

How do you feel? Madness drive, frustration hit. You just get all tired without even getting your body to do any hard work.

You're just a little mad burning meat, and at that moment you just F*CK IT! Then take it all out, and say: "Because it hot out here!"

So, this and the "nugi" line put together is about Rinne just admitting it all to Niki. Like, they be lying somewhere on the flood in the summer, can't get the fan to work then Rinne just starts blasting out all his frustration because he can't take it anymore.

It is not just the heat, is the timing, is the moment. When Rinne finally got to talk about it, before that, there was no one that actually listen to him in the way that he wanted to.

Hiiro is still young, he was raised to protect Rinne, so it is still hard for him to understand Rinne's words.

The people there can't really understand it either, they only care for his bravery, king-like version.

The only person that he can rely on is this stranger that had now shown strong impact on his life, as he feels comfortable enough to be with.

But at the end, Rinne just stops: "Oh sh^t, maybe I should stop, I'm talking too much about such things that may revealed my truth self, I should stop now before too late." Then laughed it off as if it was just all a joke: "Nah, that's just because I'm hot! It getting hotter in here, enough to drive me crazy!"

At every vents he ever tells Niki, he just ends it up with a: "Just joking." To the point that Niki thought when Rinne actually told the truth, he was joking all along.

"It'll all be over in an instant (SO HOT!)" (All) "Like a mirage" (Kohaku line) "That's (DIVE) why (LIVE!) I want it." (All)

"Unforgettable time" (Niki line)

"WITH YOU!" (All)

To Niki, all the honest that Rinne have been was never a bad things. Even if export all his lies he had ever told Niki, Niki has nothing more then joy and love for him.

He’s happy for Rinne to be who he really is, either a mighty monarch or just some random guy who living rent free in his house, Rinne is Rinne, to Niki, already knew who he’s truthly is, so when Rinne just vent all that out, Niki don’t hate it.

Niki was happy to be the one Rinne can relied on, his first friend, first partner, someone to keep him company ever since his parent gone abroad.

All that frustrating moments under the heat of summer turn into an enjoyable time that are hard to forget.

"It's not the time to play games"(Kohaku line)

"How it is like that?" (Rinne line)

"WHAT'S GOING ON?" (All)

Once again, the heat is taking over. As Rinne started to get confused about how much did he keep sticking on to Niki and Niki also wonder about how much Rinne impact his life more and more.

It also feel like Niki is panicking through the lines, complain that it is getting way too hot, and can't no longer be patient with Rinne brutal ways of acting.

Just slit it out you dummy! I'm having enough with ya keep hiding your real emotions like that!

Even if you're dead by the heat yet you still wanna hide it in?

"What you want to say" (HIMERU line)

"If you don't have the courage." (Niki line) "You won't be able to say it." (HIMERU & Niki)

It seems like there are confessions that Niki or Rinne want to make to each other.

Niki want to tell Rinne how much he had made his life turn brighter than it should be. Keeping Niki company through the loneliness.

While Rinne also wants to tell Niki about how much he loves to be with Niki. The silly chef who left him nothing but love and joy.

But they are scared that the other can't seem to understand how much they feel just by saying: "I love you."

Is that enough to make Niki believe that he loves him?

Will Rinne continue to stay here if he finally finds a place of his own. ?

But if I don't tell them now, when will another change come by?

None of them have the courage, but still, they're trying to show each other by action.

Rinne made Niki an idol, so he could shine like the sun, and maybe he'll start to realize how much he matters to others.

Niki follows Rinne on his journey to become an idol because Niki is the only one who truly understands him. He was scared that people only see the bad part, and with that came Rinne's action of never wanting to back down or accept his true self, Niki wanted to be there to help him out.

"Toward the sea" (Rinne line)

This is the moment when all that heat is gone away, and they finally grab the freedom they want.

They no longer suffer under the heat of summer, under the pressure made by their own mind.

The moment they stay on that stage, the moment Rinne's wishes come true.

"Unless you blame the hot summer (SO HOT)" (All) "Highest temperature doesn't mean anything" (All)

Niki realizes Rinne still had his problem keeping it secret, now trying to get him to slit it out.

This is not that summer day anymore, the fan isn't broken, and there is no other time better than this moment to talk about your problem, but if you decide to stay silent, I know you'll blame it on the heat of summer.

"Let’s enjoy ourselves without hesitation (NON STOP!)" (All)

Note: There is also another version of this line that is being translated like this: "Don't be afraid to have fun (NON STOP!)" (One are from youtube: Honeycomb Summer (YB) and another is on Tumblr: Honeycomb Summer (TB) )

Niki told Rinne to stop being stressed out and just go! Enjoy! Isn't this what you always wanted? What to be afraid about?

Rinne was like, yeah, maybe you're right... there's nothing to be afraid of as long as you're by my side.

"Let’s blame it on the sweltering summer (Dive, Now!)' "We don’t need to be so considerate anymore" "Show it all off! / Just let it all out (Oh yeah!)" "It’s over in an instant (So hot!) There is no word needed. Just read these lines and you already know what going on.

Let's keep it short, Niki and Rinne want to be together in the summer. Even if it's hot like hell, even if they're going crazy. Rinne might say something silly again, and the person that Rinne wants them to listen to his ramble will always be Niki.

"Cause I’m Crazy Bee, that’s just my nature"

Cuz, Niki now in a team of crazy bastards, a team that doesn't hold back, so Niki himself has to be brave, change, and adapt to the new environment.

"A sweet memory, like a honeycomb" "It’s okay to be greedy"

Niki wants to be with Rinne and the rest of Crazy:B but he scared that he might cause them trouble, Rinne was there, tells him that it ok, if any trouble, just let me and the others know, maybe we can lean you a hand.

"Let’s take it all with us" "Come here!"

Come here! Stay together, no boys got left out!

It's a funny coincidence that I'm writing this at noon, IT HOT AS HELL HERE! The fan just not fanning so it BURN. But since I won't have enough time if I start writing this post in the afternoon so... it's my fault to blame. ( I wasted 2 days to make this post, all in the noon. My mind has now gone crazy and bees are flying circles over my head )

one more niki analysis.

for now.

ok this one technically i've had in mind for MONTHS but couldn't figure out how to word it until just now because i a) read hot limit about three months ago and it hasn't left my head since b) the idol exploration event.

anyway. the actual crux of this is: niki's character is specifically written to be content, not happy. these often get confused imo. the second part of this is his contentedness isn't natural, it's forced. the third part of this is no one fucking notices, except for one rinne amagi, because of course he does. by no one, i'm talking specifically character-wise here; niki in game tends to get written off as childish or otherwise doing well, and that comes directly from his other unit members.

side note: i'm fairly confident in my own reading of "niki will pretend to not be bothered by anything, ever" and this is bolstered by a few different things; a) the honeycomb summer lyrics in my last post where there's a part of the intro, "hidden the true feelings out of habit / and now you're regretting it" (rinne amagi you slick bastard) b) hot limit. like the entire story. mostly because he was being troubled by multiple different things throughout it (work, idol activities, and his family last name/father's scandal) and the only person who noticed was rinne, and that's probably because he knew the damn guy for five years c) also in hot limit, the exploration into niki seeing himself as a burden because of his illness. why did they add this into his character and then not elaborate further? i don't know. if it never gets elaboration, i'll implode. anyway, it's a part of his character that he usually doesn't show, but he references it as "not wanting to inconvenience the people around him" REGARDLESS of if the people in question don't mind him inconveniencing them (rinne). in general, the only thing he makes a fuss about is food, likely because of his metabolism and the fact that he does become more of a danger to people when extremely hungry (he has bitten hiiro before.); i.e. the inconvenience for everyone else is a 19-20yro trying to bite them, not complaining that he's hungry.

i digress.

niki has referenced himself as being content with certain things before. for instance, in hot limit, it's phrased distinctly as "just getting to eat every day is a bliss to me - i need to be satisfied with that", which comes up again in his letter from the idol exploration:

"it feels like happiness is there to fill my stomach, too!" oh, is it? is it niki? is it now?

basically, what i'm getting at is niki's expectations for life are so incredibly low, so he's satisfied with getting to eat every day. that's it. just satisfied. side note: this is why i went insane when survival was added to his profile; the way he lives/talks about living, he's been surviving more than living. this is also why i think rinne and niki work so well as a pair, rinne's into living and niki's busy surviving. though, to be fair, rinne and niki's relationship is built on this crux anyway. rinne intends (hopes, maybe? his goal?) is to help niki with what he has identified as a problem. thank you rinne amagi.

(for the record, right after i read this, my live reaction was "WHAT IF I KILLED MYSELF". that's quite dramatic, and i won't, but i figured someone might get a laugh out of that.)

this isn't the first time that rinne has referred to niki (well, more so implied) as "not happy", as it happens in hot limit, too.

"that's why i'll grant his wish and make him happy" oh ok i see.

anyway. niki's fascinating, because this forced contentedness vs happiness is so interesting to me, because beyond rinne's own read of niki, it's easily bought by everyone else he knows. most notably, kohaku and himeru, as their impressions come off of reading niki quite differently to rinne's:

both of them appreciate and even look up to niki in certain ways, and they both like his focus on food. but what's interesting is how both of them see him vastly different from rinne; where rinne focuses on his low self impression, himeru thinks niki's perspective of the world is interesting, as well as i think he gives credence to niki being selfless, which kohaku sees him as both childish and reckless. i'm pretty sure both himeru and kohaku see him as more naive than themselves, which is a fair read. this also does line up with what happens in hot limit; while rinne is aware of the troubles niki's going through, himeru and kohaku are both surprised at the end.

niki's own effort, i think, to convince himself of being satisfied and content pays off, because the only person who notices otherwise is rinne. which, imo, is a whole other source of depth to their relationship; rinne probably saw niki working that out. he was 14 when they met, and likely the shiina parents leaving was recent (side note: i'm a certified niki's parents hater. i know we don't have much info on them, but i don't trust them after that burden thing), which is something i've mostly extrapolated by the contact he seems to have at 14 vs at 19, where they're pretty much never mentioned. yes, i know, niki chose to stay in japan. i just don't think you get through your parents leaving you in your native country at 14 while they gallivant around the globe and your communication with them steadily dwindles results in anything good.

ok. i'm sorry for the parent hating.

but unless proven otherwise i'm expecting them to be the source of these problems.

HSMTMTS Maddox Autism Analysis

I had to use my laptop for this one, cause I'm not about to write all this shit on mobile. However, I shall not be adding gifs and pics to this one, cause i don't have those on my laptop, and i think there is a limit to those anyway. This one's long, and not guaranteed exhaustive cause my memory is Meh, at best.

General Info

So just from Promotional Material for Season 3

Maddox:

Techie Who always follows the rules.

The most excited person for Camp.

Hates Change

Comes to the same camp every year

From these, we already can see the building blocks of a targeted interest and a need for routines. The always following the rules is reminiscent of Autistics not breaking rules due to simply not thinking to.

Once the show itself aired, Maddox pretty quickly showed multiple indicators as well. For the sake of organization, I'm going to break these down as Tics and Tendencies and give a few examples, rather than by episode.

Irritation/Panic at unexpected changes in schedule

Saylor mentions frequently that Maddox is really struggling in Season 3 because for the first time, something is drastically disrupting this yearly escape. Unlike Ricky who, while panicking at the change, is able to actively work against it, Maddox struggles with fighting the change and usually must physically remove herself to prevent a more extreme reaction.

Maddox begins already thrown off due to Jet being sent with her to camp.

Dislikes when the Auditions is interrupted by Jet arriving an hour late.

She isn't hanging out with EJ this summer, likely due to feeling thrown off that he brought an entire troupe of friends.

Literally everything in Woman in the Woods - and going to her hiding spot to avoid a full meltdown.

RCOSL changes how she normally does the set direction in order to cause drama - again runs off after her and Jet's fight.

Really struggles with Madison's initial appearance at camp.

Realizes she signed to go to NZ before getting with Ash, and completely removes herself from the post-production celebration that LITERALLY every other character attended.

Very Literal Speaking

Several times when Maddox accidentally gets herself in trouble its because she says something that doubles as a pointed metaphor, even though she was being literal.

"...that kind of bond is....Forever"

"...you just got to commit to one side, of the boat....or else you'll fall in..."

"You have two minutes" - and actually timing it

"....and well, life has other plans..." - not realizing Ash could take this as an attack on her relationship.

"...Yeah my crystals haven't charged in like a month" - thinking Jet is literally taking about what she was actively doing.

Scripting

Maddox has multiple moments where she communicates using a clearly practiced script, and a few where she struggles once someone doesn't react how she expected and she did not have a response ready.

The automatic little Thank yous when that one kid compliments her at a few points in the season.

The safety information on Newbie Night

The Woman in the Woods story is scripted - she gets interrupted and starts mixing up scripts when trying to get back on track.

Truly awful improvised scripting during RCOSL. Also not having the words to tell Carlos to lay off the whole 'hot for Jet' thing.

Memorizing all the lines she would need as a PA on the flight.

We literally see her scripting her confession to Ash.

Fumbling through talking to Ash about the NZ move, as she didn't think it was a conversation she was going to need to have.

Info Dumping

When Maddox gets excited, she frequently starts info dumping without thinking about it, usually while also kind of tuning out whats happening around her.

Several times in 3x03

Talking about her favorite nigh before she realizes no one is listening.

again when leading the group to the tents, when she is giving the rules and safety information.

Info dumps about rising signs before Ash gets upset and leaves.

Snapping

Maddox tends to snap when deciding what to say to someone.

When she calls out Carlos for changing the cast list

We can hear a snap when she first asks Ashlyn if she was a Leo rising

She snaps when getting annoyed at Jet and Ricky when she directs them

She snaps after finishing her script for confessing to Ashlyn

Tapping/Clapping

Maddox claps and taps things when idling or when she is in between actions. Generally, if she's not got her hands in her pockets and isn't holding something, then she's doing this.

Maddox taps her hands together after Ashlyn catches her attention about the letter.

Clapping hands together as she talks when entering the honeycomb.

Taps on the set pieces when not using the drill.

Claps her hands with the paper star when Carlos suggests she likes Jet.

Taps on the bunk beds while talking to the girls after Camp Prom.

Taps on the broom while cleaning after Opening Night.

Claps her hands while talking to Ash in the hallway when walking to set.

Taps the tree stump that Ash hands her.

Shaking Things

Not as common as the tapping, but if Maddie is only using one hand she tends to shake the object she's holding.

Facial Expressions

Maddox's face tends to either be way more expressive than expected for the response she is giving, or way less. When she is alone, or with friends/Jet, her expressions are more free. she spends less time guessing and just lets her face to whatever its going to.

During RCOSL, her expression is almost unchanged, probably due to having to think about it constantly.

Once Newbie Night started going downhill, she paid more attention to seeming fine.

She is a lot more open in the fourth season, except with Quinn, where she remains professional.

Okay so Maddox has exactly ONE coping mechanism, and its removing/Distancing herself from the situation.

Stands by the stage instead of joining the crowd on Welcome Day.

Does not return to the Bunks until very late.

Sits alone brooding when Jet takes off

Goes to hiding spot after scary story is interrupted

Stays by the wall for much of movie night

Building set/Managing costumes alone, instead of adjusting to help.

Operates more or less ALL of stage alone using a switchboard. Including in Season 4, when we know she has stagehands available.

Goes to hiding spot after argument with Jet.

Goes to probably commit balloon homicide before Jet stops her.

Hides from Ash to avoid NZ conversation.

part of the enstars fandom that’s always annoyed me is people who “analyse” the lyrics and say stuff like “honeycomb summer is secretly about gay sex😱” like obviously there are many ways to interpret lyrics but putting individual words into the jpn to eng dictionary and miscontruing it to claim something that just isn’t there is there drives me up the wall so bad. and when you listen to the lyricists talk about their work and the thought process behind it, it’s so clear just how good they are at what they do and if they were to write lyrics secretly about gay sex they would be way better at being secretly about gay sex than any song someone says is. “analysis” like that just feels like a disservice to the lyricists and their writing and it annoys me so much as enstars lyrics fan no.1

i guess to start - the entire sound of this is SO den. the energy in the synths. the way its pushing forward. there's this bright exciting energy to all of it and it's so so den!! me and den r both stimming to this song :3 and then the way the synths get a bit darker in the chorus but keep up that energy.... a lot of things here. a) can you sing along - music - cosmic harmony. music is a big theme for the story and just :3 . b) this is starting to get to how den perceives the world. he's an artist, and a lot of how he interacts with the world is through that lens. he interprets the world by thinking in terms of art - can you see the lines and dots?

ok i wont lie and pretend i understand any of this ghjk i love the lyrics so much though!! what i do think happens here is like... den's this character who calls identity into question. in a story all about identity and figuring out who you want to be, den is all about like... purposefully crafting the Self. im still trying to figure out what this verse means but there's something going on with den calling the world into question - by looking at it through an artistic lens, deconstructing everything. "the scariest it gets is far behind the world you know" is very fun coming from him in his relationship with honeycomb - den is part of this weird, magical, and sometimes scary world that others dont know about.

here we start to get a look at den and creation and the Self and his relationships with the space squad. specifically aria. the word sun is in there, i have to :p the idea of seeing the lines and dots - den's art - in order to create the sun within her - DEN IS A NEBULA AND ARIA IS A STAR! nebulas create stars! aria's identity exists without den of course hehe but there's this interesting thing going on where like... den uses his art to show people who they are in his mind. his painting of honeycomb is a prominent plot point - the way den uses his art to turn people into these bright and powerful symbols. and in terms of his friendship with aria, he definitely does something similar - helping her to see herself as a bright burning star, the way he does. helping her to create herself.

and here we get into the complicated nature of identity - den is a deeper person than that loud energetic optimistic self he presents. its an authentic version of himself, but that light isn't all there is to him. den is optimistic but not entirely naive, energetic but not out of control - he is a force of creation to be reckoned with. idk quite how to describe any of this lol but if we're looking at the self as a creation, den is basically saying here "there's more to me than my surface". and of course turning the lights off here - den has light powers! he's in control of the lights! and so there's this question of. who is he when the lights are off? when he changes the colors? can you see him beyond the surface level paint?

den fursona when. also den comes from a conservative christian family and so there's something so fun here about him challenging the values and standards of that culture!! and that last line... there's a LOT to it but one thing worth mentioning is like... how much den plays with gender. he's technically cis but he's Cis+. he's fucking with gender and doing what he wants - he recognizes the lines and is walking with them and turning them into absurd concepts :3

ok, last verse before its the chorus again, so final new lyrics to analyze!

so With My Tail To The World is about the artist agnes martin, and all of the lines here reference her works. this song actually made me consider making den's art more abstract, which i think works well with his character!! this is just. PERFECTLY how den views the world. all of these abstract art pieces that are easy to dismiss as being simplistic are reflections of the world!! this is questioning those same things about identity and the world and art - can you see the world in these paintings? can you see how i see the world? this verse is just... an anthem for den's view on art and the world and WAUGH I LOVE IT. also this verse is so fun to sing out loud lol. also fun fact Friendship by agnes martin is this giant grid of gold and just... i think its perfect for den's friendship with aria hehe

honeycomb summer and niki shiina

"didnt you say the last post was your last analysis" yeah, well, i lied.

hot limit is much less a story from niki and more a story about niki. this distinction will carry throughout this post, as i think it says not only a lot about niki himself, but also the relationship between niki and rinne, which i think is a vital part of both their characterizations.

i mean, oddly enough, niki doesn't even show up much in his own center event! this is because, of course, he's trying to juggle three different things (work/cooking opportunities, idol activities, and his family name), but it does show a decent amount into his characterization. namely, niki's reluctance to ask for help (rinne acts of his own accord in hot limit, not because he's prompted), his low self esteem, and the way his illness actually affects him in his day to day life. i think its worth it to note that his low self esteem is intertwined with his chronic illness, as he specifically references himself as a buden and having to be thankful he's lasted as long as he has. (side note: the new profile for niki having survival in his skills is both aggravating and justifying to me in equal measure. he would look at his 20 years of life and go "wild how i survived that huh!" and then move on.)

ultimately, though, i think the most important part of hot limit is niki and rinne. they're central to the narrative, but more than that, hot limit makes it clear what their relationship is. there's a heavy level of devotion in their relationship, but what's particularly interesting to me is rinne's perspective about niki. not only does rinne want to fundamentally "change fate", as he absolutely hates the perspective niki currently has, but he interestingly refuses to be clear about it, except for at the end of hot limit, when he outright states it to himeru and kohaku.

ive been sitting on this screenshot for months. they make me so ill.

anyway. that's not the point, my point is to talk about honeycomb summer, the song that came out with hot limit. because much in the way that hot limit is a story about niki, honeycomb summer is a song talking to niki.

there's two places in particular in the lyrics that standout as direct lines that are attempts from rinne to talk to niki. this is more than likely part of his campaign to "change fate".

niki fucking hates talking about his issues (see: hot limit) so the first part makes sense. basically, hes a master at deflecting. laugh, smile, move on, don't elaborate further. help him.

the second part is a bit more interesting, because it's both a typical crazy:b lyric and a typical rinne amagi-ism. but under the lens of honeycomb summer, and particularly the quote at the end of hot limit, this is a direct fucking plea to niki shiina. you can want more than just to survive. it's okay to be greedy.

How to test honey and read purity results?

Honey in Pakistan is a gift from heaven, a complex natural food produced by one of the most hard-working living beings on Earth: the bee. It turns out that it's also one of the few sweetening agents that humans can use without transformation. Buying pure honey is not an easy task. All sellers will claim to be selling purity, but do we know how to identify real honey? Fortunately, science has evolved enough that we can find the truth behind these claims with a simple laboratory visit. This article is an attempt to educate our readers about the honey purity benchmarks set by the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA). These references are used worldwide, including the European Union which has the most stringent food safety regulations. Let us dive into a brief study of the test parameters of honey that our batches go through at Hunza Herbal, namely:

 Humidity

Ash content

Reducing and non-reducing sugars

HMF content

Acidity

Water-insoluble solids

Diastatic activity

Diastatic activity

Added by the bee during the collection and maturation of nectar from flowers, diastase is one of the main enzymes in honey, alongside invertase and glucose oxidase. One unit of diastase activity is defined as the amount of α-amylase, which will convert 0.01 grams of starch to the prescribed the endpoint in one hour at 40 ° C. The results are expressed in Schade units per gram of honey and called a number of diastases.In addition to indicating a possible heat treatment of honey, Diastase Activity helps us to determine probably the most critical element of the purity of honey: if the bees take nectar from floral sources (flowers) or if they are fed on syrup sugar. Since the bee will produce honey in both cases, it becomes difficult to identify between the two types of honey if diastase activity is not verified. Once the honey is consumed, the enzyme Diastase helps us to break down the sugars so that the honey can be digested and our body can absorb the maximum of nutrients. Without diastase in honey, it would simply be like consuming huge amounts of sugar because the body will not have the enzymes needed to break it down. In this case, consuming honey actually becomes an unhealthy activity - just like most sugar consumptions. Diastase is measured on a scale of 3 to 8 as an acceptable range. We are delighted to say that Sidr honey from Hunza Herbal returns a 7.5 on the Schade scale. This shows when bees feed on natural nectar!

 Humidity:

The humidity level is an important criterion in the processing of honey. As nature has, bees comb the comb when the humidity reaches 17-18%. Some beekeepers are in a hurry and harvest honey before the comb is naturally sealed. This means that honey can have a higher amount of moisture which can ferment honey. It is important to know that honey from different sources of nectar will have different moisture content. Clover honey, for example, has a moisture content of 23% as an acceptable range. However, most varieties of honey will begin to ferment at 24%. In fact, honey with a moisture content above 21% is not suitable for sale in most well-regulated markets. Our Sidr honey has a moisture content of 16% - almost exactly where the bees deem it ripe to eat. Tip: keep honey in dry places for storage as the honey will lose the humidity of the air around it and improve its quality.

 Ash content:

Ash content analysis is a common testing technique to assess the quality of many foods. It is a measure of the total amount of inorganic minerals such as calcium, sodium, and potassium, etc. found in food. The test is performed by burning (called incineration) a sample and analyzing the non-mineral elements found in the ashes. The result of the ash test is expressed in% of ashes. The total ash content is equal to the weight of the ash divided by the weight of the original sample multiplied by 100%. An enlarged optical examination of the ash residue is carried out to determine the ash content. The ash content of floral honey (where the nectar comes from bee flowers) must not exceed 1% according to international standards on honey as well as the standards adopted by the Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority. Sidun honey from Hunza Herbal has an ash content of 0.45%The Sidr honey variety from Hunza Herbal contains 72.53% reducing sugars and 5.5% non-reducing. Yes, it's sweet.It is important to remember that the level of reducing and non-reducing sugars can be manipulated in honey using artificial sources, so the levels of sugars in honey cannot be used alone to determine purity.

 HMF content:

HMF is the abbreviation for Hydroxymethylfurfural, created by the thermal decomposition (degradation due to temperature) of fructose (one of the main reducing sugars in honey). It is common for HMF to form slowly during storage, but levels will increase very quickly if the honey is heated. Natural honey has different levels of HMF when fresh. When the honey is still in the hive, it will contain less than 1 mg of HMF per kg of honey, but it will start to increase when the temperature exceeds 20 ° C.Temperatures in the hive can rise above 40 ° C during the summers (honey harvest season in many parts of Pakistan). It is usual for HMF to be less than 10 mg/kg in freshly extracted honey. High levels indicate excessive heating during the extraction process. International food standards require that the HMF content in honey after processing and/or mixing does not exceed 40 mg/kg. PSQCA is more lenient and has 80 mg/kg as an acceptable range. Honest Hunza Herbal is tested for HMF levels and we have less than 2 mg/kg in our honey, indicating very low heating levels and very fresh honey.

 Acidity:

This may surprise some, but the acidity of honey exists naturally, caused by the organic acid usually present in all kinds of honey (citric, oxalic, tartaric, acetic, etc.). This acidity is caused either by nectar or by secretions from bees. The acidity of honey is generally determined by titration (a chemical process) and the acidity levels are measured using "mili equivalent / kg of honey". High-quality commercial honey should not exceed 50 m.eq / kg. PSQCA has 40 m.eq / kg as an acceptable acidity range while the Hunza Herbal samples return a result of 13 m.eq.The acidity of natural honey will increase over time because fermentation will take place over time, but a very low acidity level - around 1 m.eq / kg indicates a falsification of honey by sugar syrup.

Water-insoluble solids content

Materials insoluble in honey include pollen, honeycomb debris, bees, and dirt particles and therefore constitute a criterion for the cleanliness of honey. It is measured by filtration of a honey solution on a glass container. PSQCA indicates a maximum of 0.5% of insoluble solids in the water while Hunza Herbal contains 0.02% of insoluble solids in its batches. It couldn't be cleaner than that, right? The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority uses all of the above criteria to assess the quality of a honey sample. The certificate of analysis for two samples tested by Hunza Herbal is available here. You will not see that sample 1 (which was heated before being supplied for testing) did not show diastatic activity while sampling 2 (our honey Sidr) is rich in diastase enzymes. It is worth knowing more about the foods we eat and be sure to ask about diastase activity when you buy honey from sellers who claim it is real.

DESCRIPTION: Characterised by its height and size of the flower, the sunflower has earned a welcome place in the summer garden. Many varieties on the market now offer diversity in colour {even a white sunflower!}, size of the flower, and plant height. Dwarf plants grow only 15 inches tall.

CULTIVATION: Extremely heat and drought tolerant, most sunflowers can easily exist under conditions unsuitable for growing many other garden flowers. Although the shorter strains can be grown in poor soils, the taller varieties need moderately rich soil and regular watering. They will also need staking. Sow seeds outdoors where you want them to grow. Depending on the size plant you are growing, thin the seedlings to 24 to 48 inches apart.

These towering plants, beacons of light and warmth, have been loved and worshipped for many centuries. The Incan Indians of Peru considered this flower a symbol of the sun and worshipped it accordingly. Priestesses of the temple wore sunflower medallions made of gold. American pioneer families found many uses for sunflowers. New growth was eaten like asparagus, and the seeds were eaten as a tasty snack, used for baking, and fed to birds during winter months. The leaves and stalks were used as fodder, and fibres from the stalks were used to make cloth. Oil from the seeds was used in cooking and for making soap, and the blossoms made a good yellow dye. Not only were the plants grown in the garden, but they were also planted close to the house because of the superstition that sunflowers were protection against malaria. Sunflowers are native to North America and South America, and many Indian tribes used the plant for cooking, mixing paint, and dressing their hair. Sunflower (botanical name, Helianthus annuus) is a tall, remarkable, annually growing plant which grows up to a height of 3 feet to 10 feet (1 m to 3 m). The sunflower plant has a fleshy, coarse and hairy stem while the leaves are broad and roughly-textured. In addition, the leaves of this plant have unevenly indented borders with noticeable veins. Helianthus, the botanical name of sunflower, is derived from the Latin terms ‘anthos’ meaning flower and ‘helios’ denoting the Sun. The flower heads are also believed to rotate with the intention that they turn towards the sun all the time. In fact, the Inca priestesses wore headdresses made of sunflower and these flowers were decorated in gold adorning the sun temple of the Incas.

The seeds of the sunflower yield a light yellow oil which contains a high concentration of unsaturated fats. The oil produced from sunflower seeds has a mild flavor compared to olive oil and it is believed to be healthy for the arteries in comparison to butter owing to the oil’s low content of saturated fat. In recent times, margarine prepared from sunflower oil has become a well-accepted substitute to butter. People in Spain roast the seeds of sunflower in their shells and enjoy them as a snack. Sunflower seeds have a rich content of vitamins B 1, B 3 and B 6 and can also be prepared into a wholesome spread, which is available from your neighbourhood health food stores. It is important to note that all parts of the sunflower plant are valuable. While the leaves of the plant form excellent fodder for cattle, in earlier times, the fibrous stems of the plant were used in manufacturing paper. Even the tender flower buds may be boiled in water and consumed like artichokes.
