“Hollywood or Bust” is the only film in which there is no bed in any scene, neither a double bed nor a bunk bed. There is not. In Pardners the characters of Dean and Jerry, in the forest scene, fall asleep together, next to each other on a single blanket. The bed isn't there, but the blanket is. They're melting away. In "Hollywood or Bust" there isn't even that. They always sleep far from each other. Especially in the scene in the theater. They fall asleep separated and very far from each other, practically opposite. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, Dino Crocetti and Joseph Levitch's public personas, had split and gone their separate ways. That's a scene with a specific message for their fans. But had Dino and Joseph , in real life, away from the stage, from the newspapers and from their respective families, remained together?
