NEVER FORGET
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'VE SEEN OTHER PICS FROM THIS SKETCH WITH THIS OUTFIT, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SEEING THESE SPECIFIC ONES OMG. THE OUTFIT ENTIRELY CHANGED BY THE TIME OF BROADCAST, AND THE WHOLE JERRY BIT OF TAKING OFF HIS CLOTHES. WHAT DIRTY THINGS HAPPENED THAT MADE THE CENSORS CUT THIS BIT FROM REHEARSAL TO BROADCAST???

"What we had was two people that were in love with what we did for one another on the stage. The fact that I loved him that much off the stage, and as he did with me, was the foundation of everything we did. I mean, there were times when I caught myself watching him and forgetting a cue because I was inspired by what he did. And he had the same problem." ~ Jerry Lewis, World Over interview, 2015
“It was a wonderful period for us … and we were at the height of young abandonment. To watch these two guys who were so crazy in love with one another, and in love with one another’s ability–it’s magic, it’s absolute magic.” -Jerry Lewis 1992
“We’re always insulting each other. But our insults are never in a serious vein. It’s only our own particular way of showing our love and respect for one another. If that seems strange, remember we are strange characters.” - Dean Martin
"I don’t need him like I need my left arm." - Dean Martin, 1951

Could you tell me which episode the whips and chains bit was in on the Colgate Comedy Hour? And as always, your blog is a treasure for all M&L fans. Thank you!
It's this segment from episode date 1/10/54 that they have blocked on my channel!

The question in the comments was why did Dean Martin and Jeanne his wife break up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She doesn't believe half of what she sees. lol Making excuses for men cheating is truly psychotic. No wonder she's a Trumper. Absolutely ridiculous in the year 2025 to believe that Dean was faithful at any given time.

I’m sorry, but the M&L gif from artists and models popped up on my pinterest where Dean is in the tub and Jerry looks down, licking his lips and kinda forgets English for a moment and I’m just supposed to deal with that!?!?!

Little Jerry was like....
And yes this scene was meant in this context by Frank Tashlin. lol

Photo Caption: Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis pose in their room at the Savoy Hotel in 1953 when they came to England to appear at the London Palladium. Now if the caption is correct: Patti, if I remember correctly, was with them along with some of Jerry's children and along with Janet Leight and Tony Curtis. While Jeanne had stayed at home because she was pregnant… so despite having Patti with him Jerry slept in the same room and in the same bed with Dean??? @jerrylevitch @starryyide ?? Source (X)

Hi, love your blog and youtube channels! I have a quick question. What's the word on Arthur Marx's Martin and Lewis book? I think I read here that Jerry didn't like it so I was curious. I found a copy of the book but I'm hesitant to give it a try if it has a reputation for being unreliable/not credible. Thank you!
I believe some of it was credible, but he did not interview either Dean or Jerry for the book. Therefore the instances where he repeats word for word conversations between the two of them, cannot be real. He also let his dislike of Jerry, cloud his analysis of him in the book. It comes off just really negative towards Jerry, and I don't buy from Arthur Marx, that that negativity didn't at least partially stem from the feud Jerry had with Arthur's father, Groucho Marx. Jerry had a right to be upset at Groucho, because he insulted his favorite idol Stan Laurel, when he was dying.

Did Jerry wore contacts lenses? Sometimes in behind the scene in the 60’s photos he is wearing glasses
That's a good question. I'm not sure to what extent he needed glasses. It seems like it was mainly more for reading. I have never heard that he used contact lenses. He would put on glasses to read during the telethons.

Hello! I was reading the questions you’ve answered on your blog in the past and saw that you said you have part of the Come Back Little Shiksa and Fairfax Avenue unlisted on YouTube and was wondering if I could have the link to see them? I really enjoy your blog btw. :)
Yes, please message me off anon, and I can share the links with you. Chris Lewis has threatened some fans in the past, if we share the home movies publicly. I think because eventually he wants to put them on dvd one day? The time is now to put them out there dude....

Hi! Both of your youtube channels have been incredible resources for me as I've been on the Martin & Lewis journey this year. I really want to dive in to the Bonjour Monsieur Lewis series, but unfortunately it looks like the first part may have been removed for copyright reasons :( I was wondering if you had it uploaded on another platform or perhaps a link to the unlisted video? Regardless, thank you for all the you've done for newer M&L fans, you practically helped set the groundwork for the fandom here :)
Yes, I noticed that too! I might have to reupload to just Google Drive. I have no more space on vimeo, and don't want to pay for extra space. On Daily motion I have another channel, but the website itself is always slow I find. I'll see what I can do.

I dont know if you still use tumblr anymore, but I want to give my eternal gratitude to you for keeping your blog up! It's like an archive or museum with photos, videos, and information I would never be able to find elsewhere! So many old blogs you've reblogged from have deactivated, so your blog is one of the only places that that information is accessible anymore. A million thanks!!
@kira-light0 Awww I've come back though! I don't know when you sent me this. Just know I've never been gone from the M&L/Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin fandom, but I haven't logged into tumblr for a long time. There was some deaths in my family and some personal stuff that I went through. Last year was hellish, and this year is ehh as well for Americans anyway. But I logged back in just now! This blog will always be an archive for Dean and Jerry stuff! If you need help searching for something, I will try to find it!
Just recently I was working with an author for Jerry's film The Day The Clown Cried. I also gave an interview with another person about TDTCC, for the material for his episode. I don't think he used any of my audio for the Slate, since they had more important people to fit in there: Comedian Jerry Lewis made a landmark Holocaust movie called “The Day the Clown Cried.” Why can’t anyone see it?
