The Three Conditions (Lore)

It's been a while since my last post and I would like to take this opportunity to show a fun bit of lore that will play an important role in the < Murder The Crow > series.

For a simple rundown. My characters; Sadie mac Lir, Jamie Ann Robyn, and Hector James Dagger don't look human at all. In fact, they always have one offset feature found on their head area.

These features are known as; The Three Conditions also known by its other name; Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil.

- Eyes, Ears, Mouth, and Nose? -

First, let's get down to the basic details.

How did the conditions come to be?

In the universe, the Conditions are an after-effect of being under the atmospheric influence of The Burning Core. Which mutated the said humans of this fictional world; Kingshaven developing highly sensitive conditions to aid them in this once hostile and dangerous world.

These conditions help increase a certain trait but also overamplified the individual to require external aids or accommodations to make their lives tolerable. As a quick rundown, here are the names of said conditions.

Elvenlead - Elf ears with the perk of heightened hearing, and temperature sensitivity. This Condition however comes at the cost of overstimulation to the slightest peak of sound and temperature.

Hollowaye - Darken eyes with the perk of night vision or being able to see through hidden things. This Condition comes with the drawback of light sensitivity.

Grimmjaw - A Venus Flytrap-like mouth with the perk of a strong grip and a uniquely sensitive tongue. This Condition removes the need for teeth and leaves the person vulnerable to all airborne bacteria.

With that said, there are ways to combat the discomfort respectively. Elvenleads found the solution of noise-canceling headphones or earbuds to lessen the stimulation and earmuffs on hand in case of terrible weather conditions. Hollowayes use special sunglasses to help adjust their eyes to light. Grimmjaws learned to use facemasks to cover their mouths thus, protecting themselves.

- The No-Evil Monkeys -

When I originally set out to design my characters, I made the mistake of giving Sadie elf ears but that mistake lead to this peculiar idea of making none of my characters look normal which re-ignited this memory of seeing the monkey statues on display.

My characters and this universe, in general, reflect the phrase; Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil. Which is indeed a part of the inspiration. In an ironic way, these Conditions ultimately reveal the evils found in each sense. Sadie hears all, Hector sees all and Jamie tastes all. (in some way, feels all)

Despite this, for the Conditions. Sadie, Hector, and Jamie are still human in a sense. Peculiar humans if you will but humans still. Said Conditions are categorized as a Dominant Mutation that is bound to appear as one or the other based on the child's gender.

For example, should an Elvenlead mother and Hollowaye father produce a child. The daughters will obtain Elvenlead traits while the sons will have Hollowaye conditions. Under another scenario, if a Havenite (resident of Kingshaven) reproduces with a Normie (human with no Condition) the mutation will follow based on the Havenite parent regardless of gender.

- Do You Know The Muffin Man? -

While I have talked about this very subject in the past, the intention of this post is to lay AN OFFICIAL RULE as to what the Conditions are and provide a colorized version of said subjects because the doodles in the past are all in black and white.

Something I hope to share more after this post is to share more about the respective character's profiles as I am in a bit of a joking mood recently. I've been hinting at the dynamics between these three and I feel confident that I can achieve a lot more for this coming month, despite the fact that it will be a very busy month this coming April.

While drawing this, I was suddenly reminded of the video of about three housemates asking about a certain [Muffin Man] because...I'm just kinda random like that. hahaha~ With that said, that is all for now about the Three Conditions. More to come surely.

- Professor TBA Returns! -

Professor Anderson returns with a new edit. Here's him with all of his titles and some explanations as to what they meant for this unique character.

- Master of the Crows -

The most obvious title is Timothy's status as the Master of the Crows. His body chemistry attracts these creatures; The Strqrows to his side and assist him in various tasks.

They mainly function as messengers and gatherers of information around and beyond the Haven. Whatever happens, the Crows will know.

- King of The Void -

By birthright, Timothy holds the keys to a hidden place further from any existence of life. He is the King of The Void. An empty space of nothingness and the place where his self-constructed kingdom lies.

It's an ancient place famously known as the birthplace of the Crows. A place far older than Timothy before the Void King's appearance.

- The Half-Blood Havenite -

In addition to the previous title. Timothy was once a normal human. To be precise, a Hollowaye Havenite.

The Legends suggest that Timothy is not a Person but rather, a place that called to a willing host to be its own avatar.

Timothy's body is no longer human. It's fuzed with the mysterious essence of the Void. This earned him a status among Havenites who shared stories about him. Calling him a Half-blood.

- Silent Guardian of The Haven -

Kingshaven is the home to several heroes and terrifying monsters. For the Professor, he is the one who sees all. He watches over the Haven with his many eyes. That can travel through the earth, sea and sky. In every corner, his eyes are present.

He guards every plane of existence. Ensuring order is maintained and peace is preserved. Yet, unlike heroes. Professor Anderson never seeks praise and acknowledgement.

- Just some of Sadie, Jamie and Hector -

I will be a little busy this coming week but I won't leave you in the dark. Here are some doodles of Sadie, Hector, and Jamie together.

So, I'm going full Totally Spies on this. These three are housemates. Hector takes the master bedroom while Sadie and Jamie populate the hall, kitchen, and public bathroom. I had this fun idea that Jamie is the new transfer and she is just settling in with Hector and Sadie.

Hector spends most of his time isolated but he comes out every once in a while to join them for meals and movie night. Sadie is the home keeper, ensuring they don't get kicked out. For those who are worried for the absence of Anis. Not to worry, she will be back.

Maybe as the mysterious next-door neighbor who has a thing for snakes and the swimming pool? Who knows?!

What is wrong with your character's faces? Why do they each look like weirdos?!

Good question, I was hoping you would notice. The faces don't look human but all my characters are still very much human with some quirks. The weird features are famously known as

- The Three Conditions -

One of the side effects of being under the Burning Core in Kingshaven. They are named as follows with their own unique abilities;

Elvenlead - pointed ears that is sensitive to sound and temperature changes. The quirk is useful for overhearing private conversations but highly sensitive to the cold.

Hollowaye - blacked out eyes with colored irises which helps it's user to see in the dark or find unseen things. However, these eyes are highly sensitive to light.

Grimmjaw - skinned fangs that is relatively sharp with a tightened grip. This toothless condition comes with a gland of acidic saliva. Which makes their sense of taste null to flavor.

These conditions is what makes each of my characters different but compared to the other Havenites (residents of Kingshaven) they're normal.

The conditions are inspired by the old saying; Hear No Evil, See No Evil and Speak No Evil. They're not very creative but, they suit my characters personally very well as it can sometimes cause a contrast.

Example, Jamie is a massive foodie. But her condition also means she needs extra sauce for her meals. It also hilariously terrifies the others how much ketchup she uses for her fries. She loves condiments~

What is Murder The Crow?

Since late 2018 up until 2022, I have been wrestling with writing, constructing and shaping the world of < Murder The Crow > more specifically, the place known as Kingshaven through the eyes of my main character; Sadie mac Lir.

In this post, I’m going to provide an update on what is this series all about as well as breakdown the overall development so far. If you are new to my blog and you don’t know what is going on. This post will be a good guide.

- Kingshaven: EXPLORED -

I’ve thought about this a lot recently. In all of my posts about < Murder The Crow > I’ve included the name Kingshaven and Kingshaven Academy.

“But where/ what is Kingshaven?” I hear you ask.

Well, its just a name I decided to adopt and use to explain away where my characters and creatures live. The name for Kingshaven is mostly inspired by the Blue-eared kingfisher.

Named as Haven based on a real life location in my country; [Peacehaven in Genting Highlands] and loosely laid out in terms of environment from; [Mount Singai, Bau]

I was always inspired by fiction where the main characters go to a camp or school to learn and train in magic or combat. Preparing to defend themselves against other monsters who seeks to do them harm. Camp Half-Blood is a very good example in the fictional world. As a youth, I used to go to an annual year end Youth camp under different locations.

That sense of exploration, the atmosphere of being among youths. The mass gathering, the cliques, the participation of activities has always been my joy and my aim to recapture that magic once more in the Haven. Overtime, I decided to create an entire country/ island instead. Inspired by the playground world of To Aru; [Academy City]

I envisioned it to be an island that is wildly populated and untamed by ancient forests, mountains, rivers and caves and the city being a walled up place as protection from calamities and other horrible monsters adorned with artistic outdoor furniture. Standing on the edge of an unreachable cliff is the legendary tip of the buried giant obelisk that glows from day and night. Whose origin is still unknown but is the sole reason for the very existence of the Hoodlites and Salkites; The Mysterious Burning Core.

As a civilization, Kingshaven is considered as an advanced civilization but slightly out of time. Having most of their machines and devices being older than other parts of the world. While the world functions by science, Kingshaven thrives under the trade system of shards between the humans and the Hoodlites/ Salkites. Living under the influence of the STAB system as their version of science and source of power.

- Meet the Characters -

What started as just my former HPHM OC; Sadie mac Lir living in her own world. Specifically an ancient school known as; Kingshaven Academy eventually evolved into questions filled with more characters. Such is the case for Hector James Dagger.

As a way to make Hector stand out more against the other male characters. I decided to give him blacken out eyes. Despite him intended to look scary turned out to be well received by some of my audience. Calling him cute or handsome. Unintentionally ended up as the edgy cool guy character.

This gave me the confidence to come up with a new character to fulfill the ole saying “See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil” This eventually gave me an excuse to revive an old mate, [Jamie Ann Robyn] back from the void but still with no clear reason and story to her return.

Allowing me to shape the different types of people one will meet when visiting the Haven. The people at Kingshaven are slightly peculiar. While they are mostly human. They each have unique features on their faces.

Elvenlead - Elf ears with the perk of heightened hearing but with the drawback of temperature sensitivity.

Hollowaye - Darken out eyes with the perk of night vision or being able to see some unseen things but with the drawback of light sensitivity.

Grimmjaw - Sew mouths with the perk of needles containing venom but with the drawback of a tasteless tongue.

With these three conditions/ features. I was able to make a unique mark on the various designs found in my characters. It is a way for me to make my designs outstanding with the different features as well as the difference in head types.

As a personal note, the head shapes don’t define the boys from the girls. They are universally used by all. The noses are triangular facing up or down and they have mostly wide eyes. With that said, I have been testing out a more Chibi version of my characters which suggested [the Lite-noids] which I am hoping to bring back in some way or form.

- The Haven’s Creatures -

Aside from just [Hoodlites and Salkites: REBORN] There are also additional beings who shares the same form and loyalty to the Core in different ways.

The creatures found in Kingshaven are all creations of the Burning Core. Their powers are universally based on the STAB System and for some, they share more than one ability. To easily break this down, here are all the explored beings so far.

Hoodlites - group based beings, individualistic but united for the same duty and goal. The name means; hooded, little beings. Inspired by the Teru Teru Bōzu. The Japanese rain ghost talisman of blessings and from the Aos sí in Irish mythology. The fairy folks who acts as helpers and fierce guardians to kind humans that offers food.

Salkites - duo based beings, preferring to work with partners to achieve their goals with less. The name means; single focused and superior beings. Inspired by the Fomorians in Irish mythology.

[Cycatopus] - much less of a race rather, an individual clone race under Vox of The Red. They act as the physical embodiment of the white blood cell to the Lite-noids. Inspired by the Instagram logo but just for shits and giggles cause normal eyes is too normal.

Insight; As much as I wanted to stick the design to the name established for the Hoodlites and Salkites. I felt too restricted in terms of the variations I want to make which changed several times from fully limbed to just tails. These scrapped ideas will eventually lead to the new redesign of the Hoodlites being in a metaphorical hood/ persona. Changing the lore completely which I am very happy with.

The Salkites on the other hand is a later addition. They started out as fast slithering beings, similar to eels. More akin to the name itself which also suffered the same issues of being too restricted. In my desperation, I toyed around with the new Hoodlite design which prompted a new additional change of one eye to represent the new Salkites. A Yin to the Yang so to speak.

Next, we have the most recent addition; The Broncopod or Rudy. I loved the idea of a kaiju or monster that is very dinosaur based and so, by using an old idea that used to be for the Salkites. It developed to become an idea for the Broncopod.

I consider Sadie, Hector, the Hoodlites and the Salkites as the first phase to the development of the < Murder The Crow > Mythos. While the Cycatopus and Broncopod as the second phase. That said, My rule of thumb is, if it hasn’t reached digital stage. Its not considered as canonical and even if it has. There is a high possibility that I will change it for the better.

- Power Systems and Weapons -

The world of Kingshaven is solely powered by the STAB System which is short for; Stan, Tide, Ange and Bolt. Which is inspired and slightly altered by the real life scientific theory; The States of Matter.

This theory is the physical embodiment of material that can cause an effect to the world at large and is harnessed by the Hoodlites and Salkites With each being having one Burning Core and one ability. Their abilities each have a certain color and their effects are as addressed;

Stan (Solid) - Cubes that is similar to crystals. They are a lot tougher to break and they act as buildable bricks the user can use to build and forge new constructs.

Tide (Liquid) - Blast of water that is similar to goo or polyester. The material can also change in terms of its thickness with different effects. Often used in weapons since its the easiest one to find.

Ange (Gas) - Blades of pocket air that functions under its own laws. Its able to cause irritations, helpful for getaways. Its also able to increase and decrease the speed of objects it comes in contact with.

Bolt (Plasma) - Beam of charged energy that can break anything. Known simply as the strongest material, its also considered one of the most difficult element to capture.

These powers also leave behind shards. Small bits that the humans picked up to forge their own weapons and tools. Each customized and personified to the wielder's personality.

As for other skills and powers, there is also the various features found in the humans as well as their ingenuity to build more advanced weapons to defend themselves. Interestingly, I had this concept for making a popular weapon to be around the size of the sonic screwdriver like in Doctor Who but with the transformable option; Melee/ Range as seen in RWBY.

- Caw’s mythology: UNBOUND -

The intent of this post is to for me to give in to my demons for worldbuilding and allowing my ideas to take form in some existing record. All that you have read is a collection of my unbound creativity existing in a sandbox. Waiting to be used as props for storytelling reasons.

Taking inspiration from HP Lovecraft’s willingness to allow his correspondence to precure his props and world for their own interpretation. It is still an infant but its steadily growing and this is just the beginning.

At its core, < Murder The Crow > is as the title suggested. The mission to kill a certain creature/ person known to be as the Crow. Who is the Crow? I have no idea yet but I ask for attention cause when you least expect it. The Crow will appear and calamity will fall.

For now though, this is all that I have. If you wish to know more and join the Hood. Adopt a Hoodlite/Salkite now and hunt for the Crow together with Sadie and Hector. Let the hunt begin!

I want to expand on this Idea a little because I really like this idea of Sadie being a Hoodlite so, indulge in these doodles. Again, thank you @night-rhea for the idea.

Hector in this alternative version, is a troubled and terribly sleep deprived youth who suffers from oversensitivity of his condition, The Hollowayes.

However, Hector is not alone. When he was afraid, when no one could help him. A Hoodlite who I will now name as; Sadi (Sadie but like, Bingo) appeared in his life.

A little bit of info, Sadi is a troublesome Hoodlite who had a hard time getting adopted due to their energetic and curious nature.

On one of his lonesome nights, Sadi visited the crying Hector by climbing in through his open window. Feeling sympathetic towards Hector’s fear. They nuzzled their soft head onto Hector.

The sound their purring, the tender moment overwhelmed him and he hugged Sadi tight without hesitation. Finally allowing Hector to realx and sleep. Since then, Hector and Sadi have become inseparable. Sadi would run into danger while Hector desperately runs after them. Fearing their safety.

Its a codependent relationship where Sadi finally gets adopted and Hector finds rest. Uh, that’s all for now. Now don’t say I didn’t draw Hector!

Question! İf you were to design a Hoodlite based on Sadie what they would be like?

I've never thought about this but my mind start turning gears and this came out! Meet Hoodlite Sadie! They have cat ears on their heads and tripod legs. (colors are uncertain may expand on it)

Hoodlite Sadie is extremely cuddly, fiercely protective and sleepy all the time. Their ability will be Tide because I reference it a ton when Sadie wilds a Charm. The cat ears is a reference to Sadie's Animagus, a cat.

Now I want to do a story where Sadie is a Hoodlite and Hector was the one who adopted and cared for them. Despite knowing who Sadie is, a Hoodlite will always be declared by default as they/them

Very quickly, I want to reblog and contribute a few cents to Yazmin's development. This girl's whole MO is about the same as the initial version: big, tough girl, an abnormal and heroic figure.

I'm trying to work around the idea that she is one of the main's older sisters or step-sister but nothing concrete yet. It's going to be a tossup so please~

- 2025: Yazmin Returns! -

Happy New Year everyone! We are about to start 2025 with a little surprise return. Yazamanyhands/ Yazmin is back and she is taking a whole new look!

Instead of her Grimmjaw version. Yaz now takes on the Hollowaye look. She maintains the iconic grey skin, four arms and purple eyes. The one change added is her hair color. Instead of white, it is now dark blue with a new haircut.

This is also an official declaration that the character Timothy Brian Anderson is discontinued. This was mainly because for one, the name is an actual person. [REFER HERE] and also because I'm just no longer interested. Nevertheless, the blue hair on the new Yazmin will be an homage to him living on in Yazmin~

- Soft RE-ENTRY -

So, in my doodles post. I mentioned a potential for Yazmin to have this half and half look.

So, with a fresh set of eyes. I tried again with her hair style. I picked blonde because, it's always been a color that I liked but can never hack in any way. This, is an attempt on that.

The concept borrows a lot from [Shadsi] or any of those kinds of characters of the same style. Current popular characters like [Luna Snow] from Marvel's Rivals is also a contribution to this attempt.

I want to give her this explosive design but I'm not so sure. I like her a lot. I think it's a good blend of the new and the old onto one whole character. I hope you'll give her some love as you did for Sadie, Hector, Jamie and Anis. Yaz is here to stay!

- Yazmin Vane REBIRTH -

Hello everyone~ I am back from my Lunar New Year break and I'm ready to work again. Starting with the dreaded fifth and final character.

After reviewing my notes and rejected character ideas, I am happy to announce that our girl is finally given another needed makeover. Please welcome back, Yazmin "many hands" Vane.

Yazmin is a fusion of several character ideas into one. First, the overall design of Yazmin is taken from her previous version. Her eye colours are borrowed from Timothy Brian Anderson and the helmet to her alter-ego is based on the initial design for Yazmin.

Yazmin comes from a different side of Kingshaven hence, she is not your usual Switch Blade user. She instead uses this personalized helmet that grants her a unique set of perks. When dawning the helm; Yazmin addressed herself as Yazamanyhands. Sometimes referred to as the Good Sister Gray.

In her personal life, Yazmin is an outgoing person, a little quirky and a bit of a mom figure when chaos ensues. Yazmin is a Hollowaye and she is one of the many rare instances of a Double Mutation. Her Hollowaye is of two different colours but there are no special quirks. Just a unique look.

Welp, here she is. The last character I will ever make. I'm a little ashamed to admit I went for the safe route instead. Perhaps I'm bound to never have a blonde character. haha

Still, it's good to have Yazmin back with a little homage to Timothy who; from this point forward will be discontinued effectively. Perhaps like how it is with comic book characters, no one truly stays dead. Spoilers, he ain't coming back from this one lads.

The approach for the new Yazmin is actually not that different. She's still the classic badass with major changes to her overall look. Baby steps to further solidify her existence here.

There are still some surprises that I have yet to figure out, but it's looking hopeful for Yaz. One of the interesting parts is her weapon of choice. The Helm will stay but it's what comes with the Helm that is important. I'm thinking Gauntlets or possibly some fighting sticks. So, yeah.

Her place in the universe is uncertain, but I intend to make her a part of the main cast with Anis possibly joining. Making them a nice number of five (a five-man band). So, yeah.
