#Holiday card

It has become a tradition here at the Sacramento History Museum to send out holiday cards to our donors and supporters of our institution. These holiday cards (300 this year) were printed using one of our printing presses we have on display in our print shop exhibit, the 10x15 Chandler & Price Gordon-style jobbing press that was manufactured in Cleveland, Ohio in 1902.

In this video, Jared demonstrates operating the press and letterpress printing some cards. This video is just a segment of a longer video of Howard and Jared printed the front and back cover of the card with green rubber base ink.

The front of the card includes an image of a valley oak tree. The text reads, “Have a TREE-mendous Holiday Season!” This was set in 30 point Caslon font. The back of the card is a photo engraving of our museum’s monogram and the text, “Printed at the Sacramento History Museum” in also 30 point Caslon font.

New notecards! ✨ They are nearly as pretty on the inside as they are on the outside:

This release is a shout-out to the "old ladies" Piper and Bridgette. We are so grateful to still have Piper with us, always purring 💚 her 16th birthday is this November! But oh Bridgette, how I miss her... 🤎🩵 it just so happens the two Bridgette cards here feature my first major painting of her "Galaxy Cat" vs. my last painting of her in her life "Star of the Galax-Sea".

I realize cards aren't anywhere close to as popular of sellers as my stickers and buttons... but they're MY favorite, and I'm going to keep making these hopefully finding my card people out there. (Or fans of small colorful cat prints; these are 5x7 and can be framed!)
