An under-utilized Horror subgenre:
Fae Horror
There’s so many ways to do it! So many aspects of fae that make for solid horror concepts.
Being taken away, coming back wrong, being replaced by something else, transforming into something, the cold indifference of nature, getting tricked or manipulated, holes in the ground, feeling like you’re being watched, time moving faster while you’re gone, getting lost in the woods, games, riddles, myths and fate
There’s not a lot of examples of fae horror but here are some I have seen starting from overt fae stuff to objectively not fae but my personal interpretations
- Pan’s Labyrinth – the most obvious, I think they actually use the term fairy. You even see the Court.
- The Hole in the Ground – the title kind of solidified my point. Nature, holes in the ground, changeling horror
- Coraline – come on, the Beldam is totally an unseelie. She takes children, and she loves to imitate real life, trick people and play games
- The Midnight House – I can’t really explain this one without spoiling the whole movie, if you know you know. Basically the house and the reason for the house.
- Hellraiser – the most controversial on this list but the riddles, puzzles, pain and pleasure, interdimensional beings beyond our understanding, you see what I’m saying right?
- Over the Garden Wall – not technically horror but it is very spooky and fae, especially closer to the end. Another world, lost in the woods, things aren’t as they seem, The Beast loves to trick people, talking animals, Adelaide of the Pasture, and one of the main antagonists isn’t even a character, it’s the indifference of nature
- Annihilation – the strange dimension, the body horror (especially the flowers scene), nature warping, the rainbows everywhere, the doubles, time warps, coming back wrong, being replaced. I think it’s a totally valid interpretation
Please add more if you can think of any! I only listed ones I have personally seen, movies I’ve only heard of before didn’t make the list but if you have recommendations or personal interpretations please share!

It was pitch black in there, except for the gray light in the opening by which they had crawled in.

THE HOLE IN THE GROUND (2019)
Tumblr media
Sleepy little Irish changeling flick. Creepy? Yeah. Worth watching? Eh. Good movie? No. But boy did they try. Could have been a 30 minute short at best. Not a bad way to bore a date you don't really fancy.
⭐.5
Tumblr media
Funky looking Irish chick and her underwhelming child do boring things until, wham, the son is switched with a vague changeling. Yadda yadda yadda, mom notices her son ain't her son no more, finds a random hole in the ground (trademarked) and finds her (miraculously undead) son. Fights off some goopy boys and burns her house down. All's well that ends well.

Pokemon TF Drive Page 1: The Depression

It is November 20, 1998, exactly one week before Thanksgiving, and everyone under the age of 16* is glued to their TV for another “once-in-a-lifetime must-see TV-event”: Pikachu’s Goodbye. Ash, we were told, would have to decide whether to release Pikachu, as he did with Butterfree nearly two months prior. I would later learn this event was synchronized with syndication worldwide (at least in the western world) to avoid details from being leaked over the internet. The expectations were high
and we all felt let down. They played us like fiddles for a huge fake-out! Before the episode, we thought it had been scheduled for a Friday so we wouldn’t miss it due to homework. After the episode, we thought it was so we couldn’t communicate our disappointment to our friends until Monday, as if hoping we’d forget!
As every fan tried to pin down exactly why the episode felt wrong (Had the ads hyped it up too much? Was the story stretched too long to fit the one-hour special? Was it not stretched enough, warranting three or more half-hour episodes?) I, for my part, wrote this story. This was how I dealt with it.
Obviously, we didn't have a good time in Diglett's Cave, but there's a lot more to this story than just "I was dumb and made the easy part of the game hard".
As the story advances, so will the transformation, the degree of which will depend on the donations through Paypal.
Click here for fun facts about this page!
It is of note that news about what is now known as the “Electric Soldier Porygon incident” was still very, very vague, to the point where it was impossible to find western sources back then that could tell you which show the problem episode came from! The record wouldn’t be set straight for another year when The Simpsons basically speculated it had to be a show about giant robots, since most Japanese shows are about giant robots, and the Japanese felt the need to clarify.
*I’ve obviously avoided depicting myself at the age I was to avoid running afoul of the modern internet (and I’m not happy about that!)
And in case anyone’s wondering why I’d use a pikachu in Diglett’s Cave
she was livid I’d boxed her for my battle with Lt. Surge (in Yellow, friendship resets when the pokĂ©mon gets boxed) and I had to rebuild our relationship. It worked only because it took for-freaking-ever to get through Diglett's Cave!

Made the mistake of looking at the notes on that post punkitt recently made and ohhhhhhh lord and heaven actually seeing trans women in the wild saying that they have a right to fear trans men because of the "societal/patriarchal power" we hold over them makes me want to delete this app and never interact with another trans person again in my life. How in the world can you be that far gone to think that trans men have patriarchal power how in the fuck do you function as a human while being this ignorant.

You'd be thirteen I'd be thirty five Gone to find a place or us to hide Be together but alone As the need for it has grown A cave or a shed A car or a bed A hole in the ground Or a burial mound A bush or a tree Or the aegean sea, will do for me ... For you I found a vent In the bottom of a coal mine Just enough space For your hands in the inside ... A den or a dessert Perhaps an ink squirt A cellar, a wishing well, a war Or a guarantee, will do for me For you I found a cell On the top floor of a prison Just enough space For you to put your feet in If you go Do let me know

... why did it take me this long to realize that the Shredder tore a hole in their old lair, deep enough that it goes all the way down to the Hidden City???

Eddie, reading a question in the chat of his live-stream: Which member of the party was the mom friend? Oh, easy. It was Steve.
Steve:
uh, no. Wrong. I was not friends with any of you dorks.
Eddie: Then why were you always around?
Steve: I was a hostage.
Steve: If anyone was the mom friend, it was Nancy.
Eddie: No, Nancy is the friend you take with you if you’re trying to uncover a government conspiracy
Steve: Yeah, just like a mom. If the mom you’re talking about is Joyce Byers.

Apparently Mammoth Cave in Kentucky was recently rated among the ‘most disappointing’ US tourist attractions and like??? In what fucking way??? It’s the longest cave in the world AND it’s haunted. What more do you people want
