the other thing i never really understood about the hlvrai fandom was the choice to rewrite benrey into a sympathetic tragic figure when dr coomer is actively confronting the fact that he's an ai program who only exists within the game and can never truly escape black mesa. 'every time you go to sleep i can feel my body torn apart atom by atom' is so fucking good why is there not more angsty dr coomer content. the juxtaposition of the other ais becoming more human while coomer has to confront the possibility that he isn't even a real person drives me insane
