Forgotton Anne studio announces side-scrolling action adventure game Forgotlings for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Publisher Hitcents and Forgotton Anne developer ThroughLine Games have announced Forgotlings, a side-scrolling action adventure game set in a magical land coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC via Steam in 2024.
“The main theme in Forgotlings is ‘Purpose’—despite living in complex societies with more connectivity than ever before, we still see pervasive loneliness,” said ThroughLine Games CEO and creative director Alfred Nguyen in a press release. “We hope Forgotlings resonates with players in today’s world, providing an imaginative lens through which to view existential threats.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Hitcents:
ThroughLine Games, the creators from the critically acclaimed Forgotton Anne alongside publisher Hitcents, invite players to step into the Forgotten Lands as Fig, a gifted posing doll on a quest to unite different tribes of forgotlings against an enigmatic beast prophesied to engulf the world in darkness. Severed from their human owners and struggling for survival, the forgotlings’ only hope lies in him.
Take charge as the captain of The Volare, Fig’s ship and base of operations alongside his crew of forgotlings. Save settlements from pesky bandits and other critters through combat mechanics that blend hack-and-slash with strategy and stealth.
Choose the next destination in a 2.5D semi open-world Metroidvania, from uncovering ancient secrets that lie buried in the desert Dunes, to climbing the magnificent Agora Mountains and exploring the majestic Falls. Learn about forgotling psychology to better respond in interactive conversations and build relationships and allies that could determine the fate of a tribe.
Engage in side-quests or earn a reputation by challenging forgotlings to a game of INA, a popular board game transcending tribe affiliations. Search for Power Stones to include in customizable INA decks, or mine for crystals in the environment to place as bets. Join tournaments and climb the ranks to become a Grandmaster, or simply play a match as a form of icebreaker to unlock dialogues and connect with forgotlings.
Thousands of traditionally hand-drawn animation frames combined with full voice acting and a score featuring choir ensemble Theatre of Voices (Arrival, Mary Magdalene) provide an immersive experience deep in an imaginative world and an emotional story about things we have forgotten and the power of diversity.

YOLKED The Egg Game Review (Steam)
Tumblr media
For this YOLKED The Egg Game Review, a kinetic, physics-based platforming romp where you take control of an anthropomorphic egg as it emancipates itself from one perilous predicament to the next! Climb, mantle, & swing past all sorts of environmental hazards & dastardly dangers as your fellow eggs cheer you on!
YOLKED The Egg Game Review Pros:
- Cartoon-style graphics. - 3.86GB Download size. - Steam achievements. - Full controller support. - Graphics settings - resolution, fullscreen, and graphics quality preset. - Game settings - on-screen timer, on-screen death counter, on-screen health counter, and language. - Online leaderboards. - Two game modes - campaign and endless. - 3 save slots. - 3 difficulties - weak, normal, and eggspert. - Collectibles include skins, costumes, and particles for your egg. - The goal of the game is to navigate the many obstacles and make it to the end. - Objects can move, be affected by weight, break and so much more. - As an egg, you can crack and take damage and fall or being crushed as you break open. - Any item you collect can be equipped immediately with a button press. - Egg cups serve as a checkpoint. - Handy quick reset button. - Animated backdrops. - Very accessible. - Tons of fun. - A lot of replayability with the Collectibles and leaderboards. - Bouncy happy soundtrack. - Simple controls. YOLKED The Egg Game Review Cons: - Cannot rebind controls. - Can be hard to know what you can grab onto and what you cannot. - You can only change into the latest collectible item with no way to change it until you get to the menu. - No shortcuts or accessibility options. - One trick that can outstay its welcome. - The momentum aspect feels way too tight and not as fluid as you would think it to be. - Restart is not snappy. We've had to keep quiet for way too long about this, but now we can finally tell everyone about the coolest things to happen to Aquamarine since our Kickstarter was successfully funded nearly a year ago. Drum roll... 🥁 🥁 🥁
🥳AQUAMARINE HAS A PUBLISHER!!!🥳
It finally happened! After failed negotiations, changed plans, and various other let downs, we've found our perfect publisher match with the awesome crew over at Hitcents. Everyone at Team Moebial has always known we wanted to work with a publisher to take Aquamarine to the next level, as long as they respected our vision and agreed to let us guide the game’s direction. We’ve found that and so much more with Hitcents, and our partnership has quickly elevated our development.
Tumblr media
It has also resulted in us being a part of a really cool Steam event that starts tomorrow! The Big Adventure Event is a five-day celebration of one of our favorite genres: Adventure games, of course. Over 80 games will be featured throughout the event, including more than 40 free demos. And you guessed it, Aquamarine will be one of those demos. Even if you've checked out one of our demo weekends before, there's a whole lot of new stuff to see and do in this latest version.
Tumblr media
We'll also be doing a big stream as part of the event on Saturday, Jan 23, at 1:00PM PST. The stream will include new gameplay from the demo, behind-the-scenes development footage, and commentary from Team Moebial. You can check out more details over on our Steam page.
Tumblr media
For those who are keeping track, you'll notice our release date now says Summer 2021. Signing a publishing deal with Hitcents re-opened the conversation about when Aquamarine should be released, and we realized it was a good chance for us to maximize the additional funding and development support that this partnership brought to the table. As always, our goal is first and foremost to release the absolute best version of Aquamarine we can make. Our second goal is to release it in a timely fashion. So thanks for sticking with us throughout all these changes. We'll have loads more to share very soon. :)

Draw a Stickman Epic 2 Review
I can imagine that most of us, at one point during our childhood or any other point in our lives for that matter, have had a go at drawing a stick man who leaps across the corners of a book as we quickly flick through its pages, thus creating a moving image of our very own creations. Well, now you can go one step further by hacking, slashing and being downright heroic with Hitcents’ Draw a…

Now that it’s over, I’ve been given the go-ahead to post the art I did for The Big Adventure Event’s Steam page! Now you can look at everything in it’s full-res, logoless, textless glory. Even the page background itself! So you can actually see the little details I added without them being totally covered up haha
And speaking of the page background, I’m pretty sure it’s like, a permanent feature now so you can go on steam anytime you want to look at my pretty art :3c or to see the loads of cool games that participated in the event! I highly recommend checking it out and supporting some indie devs!
Huge thanks to Hitcents for hiring me on to do this, this is definitely up there in the list of cool things I’ve done

Forgotton Anne
Bought for: $9.99
Played on: Playstation 4
Release date: May 15, 2018
Developers: ThroughLine Games
Publishers: Square Enix Collective, Hitcents (IOS)
Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Android, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Macintosh & Mac OS
Game Type: Adventure and Puzzle Game
ESRB Rating: E for Everyone (+10) Comic Mischief, Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, Use of Alcohol and Tobacco.
Tumblr media
Pros & Cons
An incredible original and intriguing story.
Colorful anime style graphics that blend with the tone of the game.
Unique characters, like a Boot named Right!
Voice acting is amazing, although at times their tones change from high to low volume.
Good and bad choices to make to continue the story.
Funny dialogues.
Challenging puzzles.
Your main character moves a bit sluggish and it becomes frustrating to reach some platforms.
To be able to complete certain situations, you must have your energy filled up, but all of it can be emptied out by one use of it.
Tumblr media
My experience.
Do not be fooled now! Is not a typo, it really is called Forgotton Anne and it is a side scroller adventure with a gripping story. I had my eyes on this game the very first time I found it on PlayStation Store and thanks to a special deal. I got it!
This great story of talking furniture and objects is a Disney’s dream game come true. Is really captivating, you are immediately put into the story of these characters and the world they live in as Forgotlings. It is hard for me to write about the story without spoiling anything. So I will just write about the overall game.
Simply put: it is a great game!
Aside from how sluggish Anne moves and just a bit of a slow pace the game can be from time to time. One thing that I absolutely just enjoyed, was the moment I realized: “Hey wait, I can’t die in this game!” It finally dawned on me when I realized that Anne just jumped from a high area, landed on her face and got back up like it was nothing. In this game characters can die, but not Anne, with her soft landing skills and her wall face planting ability I can see why she is the Enforcer…...and of course the main character.
But in all seriousness, Forgotton Anne (again not a typo) is a great game and very fun. Every single character is voiced so perfectly, animated so well and they have such incredible personalities that you just want to interact with them more and more.  But as much as you will enjoy these characters, you are going to have to make good or tough decisions as you see fit. So with that in mind, good luck Enforcer…...you will need it! Tick-Tock
A score of 90/100 pennies.

Rendezvous Review (Steam)
Tumblr media
For this Rendezvous Review, where we explore an adventure game set in a futuristic Indonesia. For Setyo to save his sister from sharing his own fate, he must return to the streets of Neo-Surabaya before it's too late. Is it truly possible to redeem the sins of your past?
Rendezvous Review Pros:
- Gorgeous pixel art graphics. - 1.07GB Download size. - Steam achievements. - Full controller support. - Graphics settings - resolution, v-sync, screen mode, and graphics quality preset. - Chapter selection of unlocked chapters. - Six total chapters. - Beautiful pixel art cutscenes. - Good voicework. - Can skip cutscenes. - 2D perspective. - A mix between an adventure game and a point-and-click game. - Interactive points show a button prompt and generally have a brief description of said Interactive point. - Tutorial pop-ups as you play. - Your phone is used to track tasks. - Full inventory system. - Puzzle elements throughout. - It has a wondrous world full of neon light, colorful characters, and a dark underbelly. - Animated back and foreground. - Ducking/sneaking allows you to go behind crates and walls to avoid enemies. - The lighting and music set the atmosphere up brilliantly. - Hacking mini-game. - Simple shooting controls. - Stamina-based system for running and other actions, it comes back on its own or you can eat food to speed it up. Rendezvous Review Cons: - The game can hang at loading screens thinking it's crashed. - Cannot rebind controls. - You get no help with guiding you in a direction or hints to help with puzzles. - No voice work when in the game and interacting with people or sights. - The noise and pace of the in-game text is slow. - As good as the music is, it doesn't always change when the situation does so like an enemy could appear or a deadly obstacle and you are still getting this chilled soundtrack playing. - No hard save button in the menu. - The game thinks you know more than you actually do. - Not always clear what to do. - Feels like you get better results just walking around until you get a prompt or a new prompt rather than applying logic. - Loading times are not great. - You have to constantly remember to check your journal for tasks, you get no notifications of fi wishing or starting a task. - Never sure when you've hit a checkpoint. - Melee combat is very messy. Tumblr media
Publisher Hitcents and developer HyperMegaPixel have announced life simulation RPG Kokopa’s Atlas for PC (Steam). A Kickstarter campaign is also planned.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Embark on a grand journey to a fantastical, unknown planet in this procedurally generated farm & crafting adventure! In Kokopa’s Atlas, you’ll be hopping into the boots of the brave (but clumsy) Kokopa—a wannabe galactic hero—just as his ship crash lands on a strange, undocumented world.
Key Features
Gameplay – Join Kokopa on his journey to explore and make a new life for himself on this new, uncharted planet. As you plot, design, build and farm on this fertile world, you’ll also have to watch out for the dangers that come with being an intergalactic traveler! Can you keep your new home safe from cosmic pirates, the local wildlife, and the dangerous mysteries the wilderness holds?
Dynamic NPCs – When you happen upon a new settlement, NPCs will be tending to their day-to-day duties—or maybe slacking off! Creatures in the wilderness will also interact with their environment and towards each other—watch out for the aggressive ones!
Create Your Own Adventure – What do you want to do today? While there is much adventuring to be done, it’s ok to spend time relaxing at your homestead. And once you’ve regrouped, there is plenty of other work to be done! Perhaps you can craft some new tools, tend to your garden, help a villager, or test your mettle in the wilds!
Meet Pollimero! – A faithful biodroid assistant, Pollimero (model PLM-079SY) is skilled in all things exploration. (“More than an advanced vacuum cleaner!”, reads the maintenance hatch.) Pollimero’s most versatile tool is the Scan-o-tron, a highly advanced module existing at the forefront of modern science. When activated by Kokopa, it emits a powerful shortwave radar throughout the surrounding environment, highlighting resources, terrain oddities, enemies, and more.
Tiptop Tents – Find a nice area you’d like to settle down in? Toss your “PortaPop Homes” series capsule on the ground and, voila!, you’ve got a comfy Tiptop Tent ready to go! PortaPop, brought to you by the fine folks at Halcos Interstellar Holdings!
Gear Up! – Gloves, helmets, pants, suits, and boots — you name it! Outfit Kokopa with some of the most fashionable gear on the planet, and increase your damage resistance to boot! Maybe you can find something for your little fashion-plate friend Pollimero as well.
Farming – There are a variety of berries, plants, and fruit trees you can cultivate and harvest for food to bring along on your adventures, defend yourself from enemies, assist with terraforming, and even decorate your domicile as you see fit! Chop a tree down? It’s gone now and forever — plan accordingly! Plant a seed for an aromatic flower? It’ll be there when you return . . . and maybe some creatures that enjoy the flower’s scent! Grow an expansive garden, harvest and collect a multitude of resources, build and upgrade your tools, and more!
