2022 in books - last one!
Book n. 42 and last one of the year! Or at least the last one I’ll finish, as I am currently reading two other books but I don’t think I’ll finish them tomorrow.
I have wanted to read this for years and I finally did - I’m so happy with it, it is just as lovely and heartbreaking as I hoped (I had only seen the movie). If anyone needs to find a gift for a child, I totally recommend this! Though expect tears!

I find them funny and laugh at the memes, but at the same time I love watching them fly. They are really elegant and smart.
Translates to:
“Story of a seagull and the cat who taught her how to fly”
I loved it, and its beginning really pained me as the mother seagull died due to an oil spill. That and the photos of dead seagulls with their stomach filled with plastic…
Same for pigeons, they are treated as flying rats when they are actually domesticated birds that has been released into cities and left like feral cats and dogs if I’m correct.
I’m trying unlearning this habit of painting animals as bad, disgusting for doing what they must to survive, while humans are the ones who initiated all the issues related to them by destroying their habitats.
The way people demonize seagulls is actually unreal. Almost all of their natural habitat has been destroyed (almost all coastal areas have been developed, destroying natural sand dune ecosystems) and they're doing their best to adapt. They're literally just trying to survive. You're in their home. The vitriol some people have for these gorgeous sea birds just because they're not shy about snatching food if you're not cautious is insane

"No newborn bird can fly, but a moment comes when the call of the wind is stronger than the fear of falling, and thus life teaches them to spread their wings."
